Psychologist Says if You Make Pros-and-Cons Lists for Everything, You Likely Have These 8 Traits
So, you have a big decision to make. You sit down with your trusty pen and paper (or take to your phone's Notes app) and make your customary pros-and-cons list. It’s something that people have seemingly done since the beginning of time, and it can make your thoughts clearer and help you make tough choices.
Lists of specific benefits and drawbacks frequently make their way into pop culture, from Rory Gilmore of Gilmore Girls zealously making multiple pros-and-cons lists to Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation habitually creating decision-making lists. You can even turn to a “Pros-and-Cons List Maker” online.
Many individuals use this method to get all of their thoughts down, also finding it helpful to have a visual that makes it more obvious if one "side" is winning over the other with more entries.
As common as they are, making two columns to denote advantages and disadvantages of a certain life decision can actually be linked to several unique personality traits. Here, a psychologist tells Parade the "good" and "bad" aspects of this practicing this habit, eight personality traits typically linked to it and what to do if you relate to having "analysis paralysis."

Benefits and Downsides of Pros-and-Cons ListsPsychologist Dr. Craig Kain says that says that pros-and-cons lists can help reduce anxiety and feelings of overwhelm.
“If someone is generally anxious, making decisions can be extremely challenging,” he says. “No one functions well when they’re overwhelmed. Thoughts swirl around in our head and it becomes difficult to sort them out. Putting thoughts down on paper, and organizing them in lists, can often help reduce cognitive strain and exhaustion.”
Additionally, these types of lists can bring on a shift in perspective.
“Sometimes we get stuck seeing things in a singular way. In the absence of other perspectives, we become siloed and believe the way we see things is absolutely correct,” Dr. Kain says. “Making a pro-con list breaks us out of the silo and forces us to see things from an additional perspective.”
Pros-and-cons lists can help you pinpoint your values and “learn what’s significant,” as Dr. Kain says.
He explains, “Just the act of putting together a pro-con list forces us to identify important things. Many times we rush through life never pausing to ask whether something we’re thinking of doing, or buying or saying has value. Making a pro-con list can be an exercise in mindfulness where we observe and identify things that are of consequence to us.”
Although these lists have their benefits, there are some negative things to consider as well. In fact, Dr. Kain says that they can be “problematic.”
“If we rely on them too much or make them too elaborate, we can fall into ‘paralysis by analysis’ where we become unable to make a decision,” he says. “Pro-con lists are good, just not good for everything. Knowing when and how to use a pro-con list is paramount.”

8 Common Traits of People Who Make Pros-and-Cons Lists, Psychologist Explains1. They typically have anxiety“Anxious people look for ways to reduce stress and anxiety,” Dr. Kain says. “Decision-making, by its very nature, has consequences, and consequences often cause distress. Anxious people view a pro-con list as a way to minimize consequences and reduce distress.”

While the phrase “trust your gut” is exceedingly common, you may actually find it to be superficial or untrue. In your case, Dr. Kain says that you may prefer to rely “only on logic.”
“For people who don’t trust their intuition, pro-con lists are highly appealing because they provide, in theory, a rational way to make a decision,” he explains.
3. They can be easily overwhelmedA pros-and-cons list may simplify the decision-making process, but it can complicate things as well.
“People who are overwhelmed often do better by trying to keep things simple, so to them, a simple pro-con list seems very appealing,” Dr. Kain tells Parade. “The challenge for people who are easily overwhelmed is to keep the pro-con list simple. When they try to make an exhaustive pro-con list where every pro and con they can possibly think of is listed, they often find themselves thrown back into feeling overwhelmed.”

4. They tend to struggle to organize their thoughtsDr. Kain says that some people are natural “writers” with lots of stories and thoughts playing out in their minds.
“Creative, non-linear people often find organization difficult,” he adds. “Putting things down on paper can be an effective way to make abstract thoughts concrete, and pro-con lists provide an exceptional amount of organizational structure for decision-making.”

You might be someone who often has “black-and-white thinking,” meaning that you avoid ambiguity and uncertainty in life.
“People like this see the world as dichotomous—it’s either this or that, right or wrong, yes or no,” Dr. Kain says. “People who avoid shades of gray are naturally drawn to pro-con lists because they are, by their very nature, black or white: you pick either option A or option B, depending on which list is longer. With a traditional pro-con list, there is no middle ground.”
6. They want to minimize mistakes“Many people avoid taking risks because they are fearful of doing the wrong thing,” Dr. Kain says. “Pro-con lists appeal to risk-avoiders because they are seen as a way to make the right choice and avoid errors.”
7. They like to be in controlYou might use pros-and-cons lists “to bring order out of chaos,” as Dr. Kain puts it.
8. They can be impulsiveEven though pros-and-cons lists are typically associated with those who prefer control, on the flip side, you could be an impulsive person, and you know this about yourself.
Dr. Kain states, “People who are impulsive exist in a world where thought equals behavior, where if I think it, I do it. Pro-con lists are highly effective in breaking that reflex. In order to make a pro-con list, we have to pause. Slowing down and resting a beat to write down a pro-con list can be a powerful deterrent to regrettable impulsive behavior.”

Final Takeaways if You Have Decision-Making ParalysisYou might have times that you make several pros-and-cons lists, only to end up at square one. There may be an equal number of pros and cons, leading you to experience decision-making paralysis.
“People who view pro-con lists as a way to find the absolutely correct solution can easily get caught in a continuous loop, looking for the perfect solution, as opposed to the best decision,” Dr. Kain says. “This constant search leads people to edit and extend lists, making it more difficult to choose, not easier. Many times we must come to accept that there are no perfect solutions.”

There could be moments in your life when a pros-and-cons list won’t do the trick, and you have to be comfortable with the uncertainty of a situation. They can’t always “help you avoid regret,” as Dr. Kain says.
“We believe making a pro-con list and selecting the choice with the most items results in enjoying whatever we’ve chosen. But that’s not how pro-con lists work when they are done to avoid regret,” he explains. “They are not designed to optimize pleasure. Avoiding what we believe is a bad decision is not the same as choosing something that we will take pleasure in.”

American Eagle Shoppers Call This ‘The Perfect Basic Tee’ and It’s Only $10

Finding the perfect t-shirt can feel a little like spotting a unicorn in the wild. It seems simple enough—just a basic tee, right?—until you realize how many boxes a truly great one has to check. The best t-shirts strike that elusive balance between comfort and streamlined. They skim the body without clinging, have sleeves that hit in just the right spot, and feature a neckline that flatters rather than stretches out after a few washes.
Material matters, too. Soft, breathable cotton is a perennial favorite, while a touch of stretch can help a tee keep its shape throughout the day. Weight is another factor. Because when it's too thin it can feel flimsy, but if it's too heavy and it loses that easygoing appeal. The sweet spot is a fabric that feels substantial but still light enough for everyday wear.

Shop It!A great-fitting t-shirt is one of the hardest-working pieces in any wardrobe, like this AE Everyday T-Shirt at American Eagle. It can anchor a blazer, pair effortlessly with jeans, tuck neatly into a skirt, or become your go-to weekend staple.
American Eagle's take on the basic tee is made of a soft cotton jersey material, so it almost feels lived in before you even put it on. And it has a crewneck, which is a little more classic than, say, a v-neck.

The fit is not too tight, not too loose, and I personally love that the length hits at the waist—this isn't a cropped situation.
Right now the AE Everyday T-Shirt is half off in most colorways and shoppers can't stop raving about it.
"True to size," says a customer in their online review. "Perfect basic t-shirt."
Others admit they've purchased it in multiple colors because they love the fit so much.
"I now own seven of these t-shirts," says another reviewer. "They are the best basic tee in the cutest colors."
These tees work so well with Kohl's popular mid-rise linen pants (that also come in a bunch of different hues) and Target's sleek but comfy Crocs sandals. It just makes for an easy summer outfit that looks beautiful without a ton of effort.

Southern Rock Legend Celebrates 74 Following Life-Changing Health News
Donnie Van Zant built a career on the hit “Hold On Loosley.” These days, however, he’s holding onto something else worth celebrating. As he marks another trip around the sun, the rocker is also toasting to amazing health news.
In October 2025, Donnie shared with fans his prostate cancer diagnosis, along with his plan to fight the disease, which included a rigorous 45 sessions of radiation. Last March, Donnie joined his younger brother, Johnny Van Zant, on social media to share that his cancer is officially undetectable.
View this post on Instagram“Undetecable!” they both said, with Donnie adding, “I want to thank you for your prayers and your blessings and your thoughts,” before Johnny said, “God is great, ain't he?”
The news was posted to Instagram and Facebook with the caption reading in part: “Happy Sunday and it is a spectacular Sunday over here at Sulfar Water Studios! Donnie got some amazing news this week that the C word is undetectable so we cannot thank you enough for your continued prayers of healing. Please keep those coming as we try and keep that ole nasty stuff far, far away.”
Born June 11, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida, Donnie is ringing in 74 years today. A rock vocalist and guitarist, he fronted the Southern rock outfit 38 Special, lured into music by his older brother, Ronnie Van Zant, the original singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd who died in 1977 (Johnny now fronts the band).
Founded in 1974, 38 Special helped define the hard rock sound of the '70s with hits like “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up in You,” and “If I’d Been the One.” In 2013, Donnie exited the band and retired from heavy touring due to inner-ear nerve damage. But he couldn’t stay away from music for long.
In 1998, Donnie teamed up with Johnny to form country rock duo Van Zant. Their debut, Brother to Brother, was a Southern blues-rock tribute to their late brother, while their 2005 release, Get Right With the Man, cemented their move into country music and spawned fan-favorite track “Help Somebody.”
Their latest album, Always Look Up, arrived in 2024, marking their return to the spotlight after nearly two decades. Described on their website as a “bold venture into Christian-themed music,” the record stays true to their rock roots, while blending “faith-based lyrics with the gritty blues- and country-tinged rock sound the brothers are known for.”
Congratulations on the positive health update, Donnie. Here’s wishing you nothing but clear skies ahead. Happy birthday!

TikTok Star Livvy Dunne Shares Cool Fan Moment Involving MLB Boyfriend
TikTok star Livvy Dunne is giving fans a closer look at a heartwarming moment involving her boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, after a surprise stop at a Little League practice captured attention across social media.
Dunne recently shared her reaction to the viral moment through a video reposted by House of Highlights on Instagram.
The clip showed the former LSU gymnast reacting as Skenes unexpectedly pulled over during a drive home to spend time with young baseball players practicing at a local field.
The video featured Dunne's reaction alongside the caption: "Remembering your MLB bf is just a boy wdym he saw a little league team practicing while driving home and pulled over to show me and play catch with them."

Part of the video also included footage Skenes recorded as he stopped at the field and joined the children for an impromptu baseball session.
View this post on InstagramThe moment quickly gained traction online, with many fans praising the Pittsburgh Pirates star for taking time out of his day to interact with aspiring young athletes.
According to reports, Skenes was driving home on Monday during a day off when he noticed a Little League team practicing under the lights in Wexford, Pennsylvania.
Feeling bored and with some extra time available, the National League Cy Young Award winner decided to pull over and watch the practice. What started as a casual stop soon became a memorable experience for everyone at the field.
As players recognized the Pirates ace, excitement spread quickly among the young athletes.
"We didn't believe it at first," 10-year-old Anthony Greco told USA Today. "but then we went over there and we saw him."
Rather than making a brief appearance, Skenes stayed for more than two hours. During that time, he signed autographs, posed for photos, talked baseball with players, and played catch with the team.
The day after his Little League visit, Skenes returned to work on the mound against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He allowed two runs across six innings before leaving the game with the score tied.
Although Pittsburgh eventually lost 12-3, the memories from his stop at the youth practice remained one of the biggest talking points surrounding the star pitcher.
Dunne and Skenes have become one of sports' most-followed young couples since meeting while attending LSU. The social media star regularly attends Pirates games and often shares glimpses of their relationship with fans.
For the Little Leaguers who received an unexpected visit from one of Major League Baseball's brightest stars, it was a day they are unlikely to forget anytime soon.

Virgin Voyages Is Solving the Biggest Headache of Group Travel With a Major New Program
Everyone has that one group chat. Someone drops an inspired idea for a real vacation, the initial response is instant and unanimous, and then—inevitably—it is followed by absolutely nothing. Schedules collide, picking a hotel feels impossible and deposits suddenly feel like a massive commitment because nobody wants to be the one stuck chasing people down for cash. If your text threads have been stuck in planning mode for longer than anyone wants to admit, a massive new fleet-wide rollout from Virgin Voyages is aiming to give those conversations a much cleaner ending.
The exclusively adults-only cruise line has officially launched its brand-new unified Groups program, specifically designed to strip the headache out of traveling with your crew. Moving forward, groups booking eight or more cabins can hold their spaces with no deposit required up front. Even better for the budget-conscious planner? Your group's fare rate locks in the exact moment you book, completely protecting everyone in your party from future price hikes no matter what happens to general cruise pricing down the road. To sweeten the pot, every single cabin in the group now automatically comes with a Group Bar Tab of up to $200, scaled to the length of your voyage.

Virgin Voyages
"Group trips aren't really about the destination. They're about the people," said Nathan Rosenberg, chief brand experience, marketing and momentum officer at Virgin Voyages in a recent release. "Some of life's best moments happen when the people you care about most are all in the same place at the same time, and that's become harder than ever to pull off. Our ships are designed to bring people together, creating space for the conversations, laughter and shared moments that are often missing from everyday life. The logistics get everyone there. What they remember is how it felt to disconnect from the noise, reconnect with each other and create memories they'll be talking about for years."
Related: Virgin Voyages Finally Brings Its Adults-Only Style to LA and Alaska
Part of what makes a mega-ship cruise so inherently perfect for a "friendcation" or family reunion is that it solves the age-old argument of trying to please everyone at dinner. Onboard Virgin's fleet, groups have access to a dedicated dining concierge to sort out up to three group dinner reservations. The ships feature more than 20 distinct restaurants boasting menus from Michelin-starred chefs, all without a single cover charge. That means the foodies can indulge in upscale dining, the night owls can hit the club or catch live entertainment, the gym rats can tackle spin classes with floor-to-ceiling ocean views, and the spa fans can disappear into a thermal suite mud room—all before everyone meets back up for drinks.
The new program is custom-built to handle everything from milestone birthdays in your 40s, 50s and 60s to bachelorette parties and wedding groups. For parties wanting to elevate a specific milestone, you can tack on custom add-ons like buying out a restaurant for the night, booking a private show or arranging for in-cabin champagne and flowers on arrival.
Under the standard rules, you earn one completely free cabin for every 16 booked. However, if you act fast, Virgin is running a limited-time launch promotion: groups created through June 30, 2026, can score that free cabin for every 12 booked across all voyages. With itineraries sailing from Miami, Barcelona, Athens and Seattle to over 150 destinations, the logistical heavy lifting is officially handled—leaving your group chat with only one thing left to argue about: picking a calendar date.

Only QB to Retire Undefeated in 4 Super Bowls Turns 70 Today
In 1956, a future football legend was born in western Pennsylvania.
Joe Montana turns 70 on June 11, more than four decades after becoming one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history. Known as "Joe Cool" and "The Comeback Kid," Montana built a legacy defined by championships, clutch performances and an uncanny ability to deliver when the stakes were highest.
Before becoming an NFL legend, Montana starred at the University of Notre Dame. In 1977, he helped lead the Fighting Irish to an 11-1 record and a national championship, highlighted by a 38-10 victory over top-ranked Texas in the 1978 Cotton Bowl. His performance cemented his reputation as a clutch quarterback long before he reached the professional ranks.
Montana spent most of his 16 NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, where he helped transform the franchise into a dynasty. Working alongside head coach Bill Walsh, Montana became the ideal quarterback for the innovative West Coast offense and ushered in a new era of football built around precision passing and timing.
His list of accomplishments is staggering. Montana won four Super Bowls, earned three Super Bowl MVP awards, was named NFL MVP twice and made eight Pro Bowls. Yet one achievement continues to stand above the rest: he retired with a perfect 4-0 record in Super Bowls. The only other QB to do that was Terry Bradshaw.
Even more remarkably, Montana never threw an interception in a Super Bowl. Across four championship games, he completed 83 of 122 passes for 1,142 yards, 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions while posting a Super Bowl passer rating of 127.8, still an NFL record. Not even Tom Brady accomplished that.
Many of Montana's greatest moments came when everything was on the line.
In the 1981 NFC Championship Game, he connected with Dwight Clark on the iconic touchdown pass forever known as "The Catch," helping send the 49ers to their first Super Bowl. Seven years later, he authored one of the most famous drives in NFL history, leading a 92-yard march in the closing minutes of Super Bowl XXIII and throwing the game-winning touchdown pass to John Taylor with just 34 seconds remaining.
For years, Montana was widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in football history. NFL.com ranked him No. 2 on its all-time quarterback list, noting that "for a long time, it was Joe Montana and then everybody else" in the debate over the game's greatest signal-caller. Bleacher Report and ESPN have also ranked him among the top two quarterbacks ever.
His reputation for delivering in big moments became so legendary that Sports Illustrated once named him the greatest clutch quarterback of all time. The nicknames "Joe Cool" and "The Comeback Kid" reflected a player who never seemed rattled, no matter the circumstance.
After leaving San Francisco, Montana spent two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and helped lead the franchise to its first AFC Championship Game since the AFL-NFL merger. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
Today, Montana's place in football history remains secure. While debates over the greatest quarterback ever continue, few players can match his combination of championships, postseason excellence and unforgettable moments.
And no quarterback who retired after winning four Super Bowls can say they were undefeated in every single one and never threw an interception in any.

‘Blackadder’ Star Turns 67 Today
Most people will know Hugh Laurie best for his leading role on House, but he has had a long-standing career in the UK before that. The English actor turns 67 today, June 11, 2026.
James Hugh Calum Laurie dropped the names James and Calum when he took on a professional stage name. Since then, those names have mostly been forgotten about by the fans, as he’s grown his career from his Fry and Lauriedays with Stephen Fry.
Born on June 11, 1959, Laurie initially started out with Fry as a comedy duo, and the two continued to work together on TV projects after that, including three seasons of Blackadder, a period comedy series that was set in different time periods during each season. One of his most memorable characters throughout the three seasons is George, the Prince Regent, proving that Laurie wasn't afraid to have fun with his roles.
However, it’s likely House that the majority of people remember him for, which premiered in 2004 and became a medical drama staple for eight seasons. Just recently, Laurie had clapped back at those who believed the series was too repetitive, as the titular character would repeatedly make wrong diagnoses each episode until finally getting it right. He made it clear that the creative team tried other options but either NBC or the audience weren’t happy.
Thanks for your critique, Janet. We actually tried a couple of episodes where House (Hugh Laurie) (please put the brackets in the right place) gets it right first time, but they were only 6 minutes long. NBC weren’t happy. Then we tried some where House never gets it right and…
— Hugh Laurie (@hughlaurie) June 7, 2026He did later apologize for his comments, noting that he was upset about something that didn't involve her.
He won two Golden Globes for the medical drama, but his award-winning days wouldn’t end there. He has also won a Golden glove for The Night Manager, where he starred as arms dealer RIchard Onslow Roper, the main antagonist during the first season. Since then, he has gone on to appear in Veep, Avenue 5, and Tehran.
What many people don’t know is that Laurie is not just an actor. From the age of six, he learned the piano, and over time, he has learned to play the guitar, drums, saxophone, and harmonica as well. He has shown off some of his musical talents throughout his time as an actor, but many may be surprised to hear that he is the vocalist and keyboard play for the charity rock group, Band From TV, which is based in Los Angeles, and he has a blues album, among other musical achievements.
In fact, his music career started after House, when he took time off acting to create two studio albums. He made it clear that, "I was not born in Alabama in the 1890s… let this record show that I am a white, middle-class Englishman, openly trespassing on the music and myth of the American South," as he connected to all the stories and myths of the past about hellhounds and gypsy curses.
That’s still not all, as he is also an author, with The Gun Seller published in 1996. It quickly became a best-seller, offering both a thrilling story with Wodehouseian humor, as the Wodehouse novels had previous "saved his life."

The Original Rizzo Turns 81 Today
In 1945, one of entertainment’s most versatile stars was born in Sacramento. Adrienne Barbeau celebrates the big 8-1 today, more than 55 years after launching a career that would jump from the stage to the screen to the page.
A multi-hyphenate singer, actor, author, and voice actor, Barbeau became a household name in the 1970s. But before fans called her by her birth name, they knew her best as simply Rizzo.
View this post on InstagramYep! Barbeau played the very first Betty Rizzo in the original Broadway production of Grease, showcasing her singing and stage acting chops. Originating the now-iconic role when the musical opened at the Eden Theatre in February 1972, she became widely recognized for her stellar solo of "There Are Worse Things I Could Do.”
Her raunchy, unapologetic take on the Pink Lady (embodied later on the big screen by Stockard Channing) earned Barbeau a Tony Award nomination.
Before Grease, Barbeau cut her teeth go-go dancing and traveling the globe in a musical comedy review for the U.S. Army bases across Southeast Asia. Her stage debut was in Fiddler on the Roofplaying Hodel in 1971. She then moved on to star as Cookie Kovac in the off-Broadway nudie musicalStag Movie. According to her biography, she’s appeared in more than 25 plays and musicals.
For her second act, Barbeau moved to the small screen, starring as Carol Traynor on the groundbreaking 1970s sitcomMaude. A spin-off from the crazy-popular All in the Family, Barbeau played the divorced daughter of Bea Arthur’s Maude, cousin of Edith Bunker. The show won a Primetime Emmy in 1977.
Barbeau later cemented herself as a 1980s genre icon in cult-classic films; we’ll call this her Scream Queen Era. Starring in classics likeThe Fog (1980), Escape From New York (1981), Creepshow (1982), and Swamp Thing (1982), she established herself a scream queen legend. She even married master of horror John Carpenter in 1979. They divorced five years later, but Barbeau has nothing but fond memories of the horror auteur.
“People talk about The Fog all the time,” she said recently on The Jim Masters Show. “There’s a whole new generation of people who have discovered The Fog. They may not know Maude … but they know The Fog, and they know Escape From New York.”
Also a celebrated voice actor, Barbeau has been able to reach a whole new generation of fans by providing the sultry, iconic voice of Catwoman (Selina Kyle) in the critically acclaimedBatman: The Animated Series (1992–1995) and in major video games like Starfield.
Some of her other more recent projects include playing Ruthie the snake dancer on HBO's Carnivàle (2003–2005), as well as parts on Revenge(2012-2015), Duster (2025), Harlan Coben'sShelter (2023), and 9-1-1 (2023).
Beyond the stage and screen, Barbeau has become quite the writer. A New York Times bestselling author, she published her memoir, There Are Worse Things I Can Do, in 2006. She has also co-written several novels, including Vampyres of Hollywood (2008).
Currently, Barbeau is promoting her new film, Oddities, which premiered at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival in Belgium on April 14.
Still out there acting and advocating, this icon and mom of three shows no signs of slowing down, even at 81. With four distinct careers in the books — Broadway star, sitcom gem, horror icon, voice legend — we’d like to add a fifth: absolute delight. Watch her do the “Hippy Hippy Shake” and you’ll see what we mean.
Happy birthday, Adrienne!
Walmart’s ‘Pretty’ $30 Table Lamp With Built-In Charging Ports Is the ‘Perfect Size for a Small Nightstand’
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
For many people, the nightstand has become a charging hub for phones, tablets, e-readers, and other everyday devices. If you're working with limited space, combining those functions into a single item can make a big difference. That's why lamps with built-in charging ports have become so popular. They help reduce clutter while keeping your essentials powered up and within easy reach.
One option that checks all the right boxes is the Ijil Table Lamp with charging ports. Right now, it's on sale for 35% off at Walmart, bringing the price down from $45 to just $29. For a lamp that combines lighting, charging, and organization in one compact design, that's a great value.
Ijil Table Lamp with Charging Ports, $29 (was $45) at Walmart Shop at WalmartOne of its standout features is the built-in charging station. The lamp includes dual USB charging ports, one 2-prong outlet, and one 3-prong outlet, allowing you to charge up to four devices at the same time. Whether it's your phone, tablet, smartwatch, or e-reader, everything can stay powered up overnight. Even better, the charging ports continue to work when the lamp is turned off.
The base also includes two integrated phone stand slots, which add another layer of convenience. Instead of leaving your phone flat on the nightstand, you can prop it upright while it charges. This helps free up valuable surface space and keeps your devices neatly organized and easy to see.
Another nice bonus is that the lamp comes with an included LED bulb. You won't have to spend extra time searching for a compatible bulb after it arrives. The E26-base bulb delivers 800 lumens of brightness with a warm 3000K color temperature that creates a cozy atmosphere. It's designed to be easy on the eyes while also helping save energy.
The lamp offers three brightness settings, making it suitable for a variety of situations throughout the day. A simple touch-control sensor lets you switch between low, medium, and high brightness levels. Whether you're winding down before bed, reading a book, working on your laptop, or checking your phone, you can easily adjust the lighting to match the moment.
Its design is simple but stylish. The gray flaxen fabric shade softens the light beautifully, while the black metal base adds a modern touch. The neutral color palette works well with a wide variety of decorating styles, from contemporary and industrial spaces to more traditional bedrooms and home offices.
At 15.7 inches tall, it's compact enough for smaller nightstands while still providing plenty of useful light. It also works well on desks, console tables, side tables, and office workspaces where both lighting and charging access are important.

Quote of the Day: Finance Expert Dave Ramsey on How to Achieve 'Financial Peace'
It's hard to have a conversation about personal finance without hearing the name Dave Ramsey. That's because the finance guru has become one of the most well-known figures in personal finance, offering advice on everything from getting out of credit card debt to paying off your mortgage.
But Ramsey wasn't always good with money. According to his website, he once saw everything he had worked for disappear after bad financial choices left him saddled with $4 million in debt, forcing him to file for bankruptcy. However, that loss prompted him to devote his life to understanding the ins and outs of money and debt so he could rebuild his fortune and share what he's learned along the way with others.
Now, he's worth an estimated $850 million, the CEO of Ramsey Solutions, the star of The Ramsey Show, and a voice millions turn to for financial guidance.
Quote of the Day by Dave RamseyCanvaPro/Parade
"Financial peace isn't the acquisition of stuff. It's learning to live on less than you make, so you can give money back and have money to invest. You can't win until you do this."
This quote is attributed to Ramsey, who has made a career out of giving accessible financial advice to those who need help with budgeting and managing their money. Ramsey's words are frequently shared on social media thanks to his talk show, which has a loyal following on TikTok.
Deeper Meaning of Dave Ramsey's Quote—‘Financial Peace’When it comes to Ramsey's quote on financial peace, it's easy to see why it has become so popular. That's because some of Ramsey's more widely shared pieces of advice focus on achieving a sense of peace by paying down your debts and achieving financial freedom.
Not only that, in his Baby Steps program, Ramsey highlights the importance of living "on less than you make," instructing his followers to build an emergency fund so they can be secure in knowing they will be okay if something unexpected happens. Once that emergency fund is fully funded (giving you peace of mind), Ramsey tells his followers to start paying down debt, saving for college, paying off their mortgage, and more. Only once they have done all of that does he tell them it's time to start sharing the wealth by giving generously, including to charities and those in need.

‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 5 Ending Explained: Who Gets Married and What’s Next for Dana Sue and Ronnie?
WARNING! This article spoils the events of Sweet Magnolias Season 5, now available for streaming on Netflix. Please do not read further if you do not intend to know what happens in the season.
The Magnolias had a lot to pour out this season, and by the finale, one walked down the aisle, while another was struggling with her marriage.
Long before the series returned, star JoAnna Garcia Swisher teased to Parade that Season 5 would feature the "most romance" and "most drama" yet. Between a devastating house fire, wedding planning woes and a relationship on the rocks, Serenity was anything but, well, serene this season.
For Helen and Erik, challenges surfaced while planning their wedding, eventually leading Heather Headley's character to postpone it until they were on "the same page" and "reaching for the same goal."

Erik later explained that he had been trying to please others and revealed that his parents did not like his late, first wife, Vera. "I just let past fear and pain focus me on removing ever potential bump in that road, and I lost sight of where that road leads: Our wedding. Our marriage. Our future," Erik tells Helen in Episode 6.
Erik admitted that he didn't realize what he was doing until his niece Jessica unexpectedly showed up in Serenity. He saw her struggling "against the Whitley way" like he had, and was "binding" himself all over again.
Erik and Helen finally tied the knot in the season finale, surrounded by their friends and family, including the groom's parents. At their wedding reception, the newlyweds agreed to foster teenagers as their "children of the heart," which Erik called a "beautiful plan."

While Helen got her happy ending, Dana Sue's future is far less certain. It was a difficult season for her and Ronnie, who was preoccupied with the Bike Barn and keeping things from his wife, including that he had moved extra off-brand e-bikes into their garage, which is where their house fire started.
Dana Sue informs Ronnie in the finale that they need a new beginning. "We have been patching things over too long. And the deeper I dig into my action plan, I realize I wanted to always stay busy so the broken things could flow by me," she says, adding, "We have been glossing over rough spots since before we even separated. and if we are gonna build a marriage that is true, that has a chance of lasting, then we need to take it down to the studs."
Although Ronnie, who wants to keep the Bike Barn, knows what he needs to save and cast aside, Dana admits that she's not there yet, so she's going to get an apartment just for her. When asked by Ronnie if she's leaving him, Dana Sue replies, "I don't know yet."
Perhaps that uncertainty will open the door to a new chapter, or romance. Clark Bellson, an old school rival-turned-her Bellwether partner, appeared to show interest in Dana Sue, asking her to let him know if she needs help finishing off a bottle of tequila.
Prior to the return of Season 5, actress Brooke Elliot told Parade that Ronnie "believes Dana Sue will be on board if she just hangs tight," but pointed out that "he's missing the fact that he's making critical errors that are eroding their relationship."
Kyle Findlay as Michael and Chris Medlin as Isaac DowneyCourtesy of Netflix. © 2025
On a lighter note, Maddie got something better than "vengeance" on her former boss Lucas in the finale after turning down his offer to work with him again in New York. Instead, she gained "leverage" and "validation." Maddie, who is working on a novella collection with three authors, shares with Cal that she wants her bookshop to help her build her network and do it from home in Serenity.
Season 5 also ended with Isaac's boyfriend, Michael, deciding to move to Serenity and Cal moving forward with his former Braves teammate, Javier "Javi" Guzman, and announcing that investors will be coming into town to start talks on the new baseball team.
Discussing the future with Parade, showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson said, "I know exactly the juicy stories that we want to tell."
She added, "Our characters grow and change — but they do it together.”

Walmart’s 'Sturdy and Secure' $159 Outdoor Storage Shed Has 'Plenty of Room' for Tools, Bikes, and More
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
As temperatures rise, outdoor spaces naturally become an extension of the home. Patios, decks, and backyards transform into places for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying the fresh air. Unfortunately, outdoor clutter can quickly take away from that inviting atmosphere. Garden tools, lawn equipment, bikes, and patio cushions often end up scattered around the yard, creating a messy look. A storage shed offers a simple solution by keeping everything organized while protecting your belongings from the elements.
Thankfully, you don't have to spend a fortune to get a quality shed. One affordable option is the Clouddwell Metal Outdoor Storage Shed. Right now, it's on sale for 38% off at Walmart, bringing the price down from $255 to just $159 for the 6-by-4-foot model.
Clouddwell Metal Outdoor Storage Shed, From $159 (was $255) at Walmart Shop at WalmartThe shed is currently available in three sizes: 6 by 4 feet, 10 by 12 feet, and 14 by 12 feet, making it easy to find one that fits your storage needs. Plus, assembly has been designed to be as straightforward as possible. The shed comes with pre-labeled parts and a step-by-step instruction manual to help simplify setup.
Durability is one of this shed's standout features. It's constructed from heavy-duty galvanized steel that's designed to withstand year-round weather conditions. The structure is rated to handle Grade 6 winds between 24 and 30 miles per hour and can support snow loads of up to 6 inches. It's also resistant to rain, UV exposure, and general outdoor wear.
Several thoughtful design elements help improve long-term performance. The sloped roof encourages water runoff, preventing pooling after storms. A ventilated design helps reduce condensation inside the shed, which can be especially important when storing tools or outdoor cushions. Additional features include a stainless steel door latch, a smooth protective shell, and a durable steel frame.
Related: Target’s 'Stylish' $46 Reversible Outdoor Area Rug Is a 'Cheerful' Addition to Any Space
Security is another advantage. The doors are padlock-ready, allowing you to add your own lock for extra protection. This makes the shed a practical place to store bikes, lawn equipment, tools, pool floaties, patio furniture, and other valuable outdoor items. Its versatility also allows it to function as a garden shed, bike storage unit, or even a small pet shelter.
One reviewer shared, “This metal storage shed is exactly what we needed to keep our backyard tidy. The 6-by-4-foot size is perfect for storing garden tools and even a couple of bikes. It's compact enough to fit in a small yard but offers plenty of space inside.”
Another shopper described the shed as “sturdy and secure,” writing, “The quality exceeded my expectations — the panels are solid, weather-resistant, and hold up well even after heavy rain and wind. It's surprisingly spacious inside, with plenty of room for garden tools, patio cushions, and even my lawn mower.”

Crystal Bezel Earrings Set, $15 (was $48) at Anthropologie Shop at AnthropologieDubbed as “pretty,” “lightweight,” and “easy for everyday wear,” this jewelry set includes four pairs of glass crystal earrings, each designed with a sleek silver-tone or warm gold-tone setting. The collection features two matching pairs of bezel-set studs positioned opposite one another: One pair showcases classic oval-cut stones with softly rounded edges, while another features elongated marquise-cut crystals that create a more elegant, pointed silhouette.
A third matching pair highlights teardrop-shaped stones, offering a slightly more romantic look with their curved, tapered profile. Completing the set is a pair of dangling fishhook earrings, each featuring a round brilliant-cut cubic zirconia suspended within a fluid, teardrop-inspired metal frame.
