'The Pitt's Shabana Azeez Breaks Down Javadi’s Big Finale Choice: 'Season 3 Will Be a Hardening' (Exclusive)
Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez) has finally found her calling on The Pitt. And it came from one of the most unlikely of places.
Over the course of Season 2 of the Emmy-winning medical drama, the gifted medical student has been trying to find the field she wants to pursue moving forward in her education. Has her time at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center given her interest in emergency medicine? Will she succumb to her mother's consistent pressure and follow in her footsteps into surgery? By the time the season finale hits, as she's finishing up her charting for the day, she vents to Whitaker (Gerran Howell), outright saying, "I'm considering law school."
"Look at what this place does to you," she continues, proceeding to list off the quirks and flaws of the entire main cast in one breath. "The more time I spend here, the more I realize the importance of my mental health."

"Well, maybe that's what you should focus on," Whitaker simply replies. It takes a second, but Javadi realizes he's absolutely correct. By the end of the episode, she tells Robby (Noah Wyle) her new path forward in medicine: Emergency psych.
"I think Javadi, particularly, is an interesting person to put in that space," Azeez tells Parade excitedly about the possibilities awaiting the character in Seaason 3, "because she's so sheltered and so privileged in so many ways. Learning socially is her sort of journey. She's really intellectually already really smart, but socially she's very sheltered, very coddled. Has lived a very strange and isolated life. And so I think emergency psych is the perfect place to throw that person, from a storytelling point of view. Because she's not the best equipped for it, but she's brave."
Below, Azeez talks more about her reaction to Javadi's new choice of career, and what she hopes to see from the character in Season 3.
Warrick Page/HBO Max
What was your first reaction when you found out that Javadi decided to go into emergency psych?
I've been interviewing a lot of doctors recently, and emergency psych is no joke. It's really intense. It requires a lot from the physicians who do it. Particularly emergency psych compared to psych, it's a really different space. I think Javadi, particularly, is an interesting person to put in that space, because she's so sheltered and so so privileged in so many ways. We sort of see that play out in Season 1 with the unhoused mom. She and McKay have a moment with that, where Victoria gets to learn a bit about what she doesn't know socially. And then Season 2, we see her with this other mom, and McKay again, seeing a version of what it is to be a kid and not have both of your parents.
Learning socially, I think, is her journey. She's really intellectually already really smart, but socially she's very sheltered, very coddled. She has lived a very strange and isolated life. And so I think emergency psych is the perfect place to throw that person, from a storytelling point of view. Because she's not the best equipped for it, but she's brave. Of all the characters, I really do believe she's one of the bravest in that she constantly does things she's bad at. She will ask people out on her first day at work. She never becomes avoidant. She just keeps going and keeps talking to them. She's acclimated to excellence, but not afraid of failure. And I think that is what you want from a physician.
It is interesting that her epiphany comes from talking about her noticing how much she saw emergency medicine being detrimental to the doctors' mental health around her. And, to your point, while others plod forward and take is as an occupational hazard, she questions whether it actually needs to be.
Completely. Just because it's this has been how it's been done forever, doesn't really mean to keep doing this. And I think Joy is like a great visual of that. "My shift is over. I'm leaving." And I've seen some great articles about that; it's a really interesting conversation. We expect our physicians to go above and beyond all the time. And so many doctors have side hustles. It's really incredible how many doctors are doing other things too. They are incredibly high achievers as a group. And the toll that takes, it doesn't really get talked about.
And I'm glad the show is talking about it in so many different ways. That you see Robby's mental health decline, you're seeing Langdon and his back, and the physical toll and the mental toll of that injury. And then all the way down to Javadi, who's brand new to this and has seen so much. She's so young, has really not been prepared for it by the system, because there's no time. So much of med school is like cramming information in just to be able to figure out what kind of skin disease that is, and what kind of dermatitis that is. I always say that it's almost impossible to succeed; there's only degrees of failure. Because it's just an impossible, Herculean task to be a med student.
Do you think her learning about the effect of the job on mental health will affect the way she views her mother at all, considering how complicated that relationship is?
As she gets older, as she experiences more, seeing why the physicians who mentor her are as unhealthy as they are mentally is a fascinating exercise in empathy for her. But also, really, it's painful to, I think, be ingratiated into a system that you know doesn't serve you fully, and that it will make you quite mentally unhealthy. The mental health outcomes for physicians are really low compared to other jobs, like other industries, and so I think for her, like, understanding her mom in that way is like, really something, but then also, I think it sort of just makes it more complex for her. It doesn't make it easier, it doesn't make it lighter. It just makes it more complex.
Do you know anything about what Victoria's storyline will be in Season 3?
I think these are questions I will be asking Scott. [Laughs.]
[Laughs.] Well, what are you hoping to see from her next season?
I think for me, Season 1 was about her growing as a person, learning skills, learning stuff. Season 2 feels like a cracking, like a shedding of skin. She's seeing the cracks, realizing what she doesn't know, really being ground down to zero. Like, "Today is hard, yeah."
After shedding skin, there's a hardening. And I think that Season 3 probably will be a hardening, unfortunately. And I think there's an attempt at retaining softness. You become world-weary. You want to stay curious and young and fresh, and you want to stay open, even as the world is like hitting you while you're down.
She is, to me, The Pitt's coming of age story. She's the youngest one. She knows so little, and she knows so much. She's so strange, she's so isolated. She's so unlike anybody else, but she definitely wants to be like everybody else. And she's finding herself. She doesn't know who she is in these really fundamental ways. And so I think I really like how messy that coming-of-age story will be. I really hope it continues to be as messy.
'Outlander' Stars React to That Shocking and Devastating Death: 'I Was Very Happy' (Exclusive)
In a shocking twist on Outlander’s seventh episode of its eighth and final season, a fire at Fergus’ (César Domboy) print shop in Savannah takes his life rather than the life of his son Henri-Christian (Benjamin Moss), which is what happens in Diana Gabaldon’s eighth book, Written in My Own Heart's Blood.
Fans of Gabaldon’s books were shocked by the switch, but Domboy says he knew about Fergus's demise going into the season.
“Basically, when [showrunners] Matt [Roberts] and Maril [Davis] approached me to ask me to do a final season of Outlander that wasn't planned originally, and welcomed me back on the show, we discussed what Fergus's arc would be,” Domboy tells Parade in an exclusive interview. "They said what happens in the book with Henri-Christian wasn't really matching with ending the show like that, and that we could beautifully wrap Fergus's storyline, having him doing the ultimate courageous move to save his kids instead. I was very happy with that. I thought it was really, really cool to wrap his storyline.”
Both Domboy and Lauren Lyle, who plays his wife Marsali, managed to keep the surprise a secret for more than a year, since Outlander wrapped in September 2024, and Lyle thinks there’s something legendary about it.
“I also think it's iconic as an actor, to be a character in a show that gets killed in the most romantic of ways,” she said.
And Domboy added, “What I can tell you is that I wasn't mad or sad, because I knew I made it before the last episode. So come on, you know what I mean?”
Lauren LyleCourtesy: STARZ
“It also gives Marsali a really beautiful, love story ending as well,” Lyle adds. “She grieves the love of her life, rather than it being so horrific that it's her child. She's able to grieve something that, for the Outlander world, is so laced in love and romance. I think it's almost more impactful in a way that she's left with -- there's a line in it -- she's left with pieces of him in the kids.”
Closer to Fergus’ storyline in the book is his rejection of a dubious offer by Percy Beauchamp (Michael Lindall), who comes to Fergus with a deal. He has proof that Fergus, who was raised as an orphan in a brothel in Paris, is actually the son of the Comte St. Germaine, who disappeared years earlier. As the Comte’s legitimate heir, all Fergus has to do is come forward and claim his inheritance and then sell Percy a parcel of land that the Comte owned in North America to found a French colony.

But Fergus, who was adopted by Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), passes on the offer, saying, “I am already the son of a great man.”
“Fergus is definitely not a businessman,” Domboy jokes. Then more seriously, he says, “This is one thing I can tell you. It's too hard for him. There's a saying [that goes], 'There's money that costs too much to earn,' and I think this is that kind for Fergus. He cannot wrap his head around having to recognize being the son of a man that he has hated his whole life. And also, it's a way for him to really acknowledge that he's the son of Jamie Fraser, and this is worth more than anything to him.”
Fergus’ romantic approach to life may not be the same for Marsali. By sacrificing his life to save his kids, Fergus has given them something more important than money, but also left them with a void. His death now opens up the decision to Marsali, whose eldest son Germain (Robin Scott) is now the legitimate heir. And she no longer has a husband to support her.
César DomboyCourtesy: STARZ
“I think Marsali knows that she needs to look after her family, and will do whatever she needs to do to do that,” Lyle says. “A woman of the time will do what they need to do to survive. She's always done that. I also think she's got a little bit of bite from [her mother] Laoghaire, like doing maybe the harsher thing, or doing the more selfish thing. She's like a lioness with her kids, and she'll just do what she needs to do to make sure that they're safe, like any mother would."

Fergus’ death brings an end to the love story between Fergus and Marsali – at least on the TV series – but they are popular enough that they earned a ship name. Their loyal fans christened them "Fersali." Here’s their goodbye:
Lauren Lyle, César DomboyCourtesy: STARZ
“It's never farewell to the fans,” Domboy says. “The show's over. But they'll stay with us ,and we'll stay with them forever. We'll see them around the world. It was a pleasure. I'm forever grateful for that fan base. And I love them.”
And Lyle adds, “I don’t think I've ever experienced anything like it, and I'm not sure that I ever will again. Who knows? It’s a genuine honor to be in people's living rooms and to meet everyone and to see the impact it's made around the world. And for them to have changed my life. I do feel like Outlander has changed my life, so I'll forever love Marsali Jane MacKimmie Fraser, and all the space that came with Fersali as a couple, I really wouldn't have done it with anyone else.”
Outlander will air new episodes each Friday at midnight ET on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms; and at 8 p.m. ET/PT/7 Central on the linear network.

'80s Hard Rock Frontman, 67, 'Looks And Sounds Great' At Recent Tour Stop 40 Years After Band's Debut
Tesla lead singer Jeff Keith, 67, is still belting out hits like it’s 1986. The infamous, if underrated, rock frontman helped carve out the band’s sound with his distinctive, raspy vocal style. At a recent tour stop, Jeff Keith put his emotionally charged vocals on full display, leaving fans in awe as they sang along to his cover of Climax Blues Band’s "I Love You."
Tesla’s Rise and Signature SoundFormed in 1981 in Sacramento, California, Tesla (originally called City Kidd) rose to prominence in the mid-to-late 1980s thanks to a bluesy hard rock sound that stood apart from the glam metal style that dominated the era. The band’s sound was defined in part by Keith’s ability to deliver emotionally charged performances, setting him apart from his more performative contemporaries.
Jeff Keith continues to front the band 40 years after the release of Tesla’s debut album Mechanical Resonance and still tours regularly. At a recent stop in Milwaukee, WI, Keith delivered another standout performance, covering Climax Blues Band’s 1980 hit "I Love You."

"dam his voice is still awesome," observed one fan. Another added, "Tesla was soooo underrated! probably my fave band ever."
"This is one of my favorite songs," commented another. "Love classic rock! They don’t make music like this any more."
"Tesla was known to be a band who would cover a song better than the original, and hard to beat as an acoustic set," shared one more.
"Dude can still sing," noted another.
A Lasting Legacy in Rock Music @teslatheband#soundcheck #vegas #residency #rocknroll #deepcuts
♬ original sound - TeslaForty years after the release of their first album, Tesla and Jeff Keith are still going strong, partly thanks to Keith’s grounded vocals and expert skill. While other hard rock and metal bands of the 1980s relied on image and antics over craftsmanship, Tesla focused on songwriting and musicianship, with Keith’s vocals helping define the band’s identity.
Tesla became known for its stripped-down acoustic sets and covers of other artists’ songs, often performing them in ways fans felt rivaled or even surpassed the originals. The band broke through with the release of Mechanical Resonance, but their 1990 acoustic live album Five Man Acoustical Jam helped pave the way for the singer-songwriter era that followed and the "unplugged" sound that artists in the 1990s embraced, even helping to inspire the MTV concert series "Unplugged."
Jeff Keith’s recent performance puts his vocal skill on display and proves that, 40 years later, Tesla is still here to stay. The band just announced the release of their new album, Homage, which contains covers including "I Love You," set to be released on July 17, 2206.
Stephen King Cites 'Lord of the Flies' As the Novel That Made Him Want to Become a Writer
Like every artist, best-selling novelist Stephen King has been collectively shaped by a variety of influences, from the personal surroundings of his New England childhood to more immediate inspirations found in books, movies and TV shows.
While the 78-year-old writer has long remained candid about certain key pieces of literature that helped shape his interest in writing, perhaps no book had a more immediate impact on King than the classic 1954 horror novel, Lord of the Flies.
A thrilling novel commonly taught in schools across the country, Lord of the Flies famously follows a group of British school boys who find themselves stranded on a deserted island following a devastating plane crash.
As they attempt to survive in their new environment, the boys slowly devolve into primal violence, leading to fatal consequences for some of the boys in the group.
In the past, King has repeatedly emphasized the life-changing significance of reading Lord of the Flies at a younger age. As King wrote in the foreword to the Centenary Edition of the book, "To me Lord of the Flies has always represented what novels are for, what makes them indispensable."
At a speaking event, King went on to say emphasize the deeper meaning he found in the novel, as well as hos profoundly the book's ending opened his eyes to the possibilities of complex storytelling.
As readers might remember, Lord of the Flies concludes with the timely arrival of British sailors, preventing the boys from falling further into a primal state.
"Golding writers in the afterword, and I never forgot this, he says, 'The sailors saved the boys, but who will save the sailors?'" the Shining author remembered. "And it kind of opened my eyes and I thought, 'Wait a minute, there's a whole other level to this story right here.'"

Over 130 Authors Walk Away From Major Publisher in Stunning Industry Revolt
A dramatic split inside one of France’s most respected publishing houses is drawing global attention, as more than 130 authors have walked away in protest of a leadership shakeup that many see as a turning point for the industry.
The mass departure centers on Éditions Grasset, a historic imprint under the Hachette Livre umbrella. The move follows the abrupt firing of longtime CEO Olivier Nora, who had led the publisher for more than two decades and was widely viewed as a stabilizing force for authors.
In the days since his removal, a wide coalition of writers, including some of France’s most prominent literary voices, announced they would no longer publish with the company. Their decision was formalized in an open letter that quickly gained traction across international media.
The authors argue that Nora’s dismissal signals a deeper shift in editorial direction tied to growing influence from billionaire media owner Vincent Bolloré, whose company controls Hachette. Many of the signatories say they fear that creative independence is being replaced by ideological oversight.
'We refuse to be hostages in an ideological war,' the group wrote, framing their exit as a stand for artistic freedom rather than a contract dispute.
The scale of the protest is unusual in modern publishing. While authors occasionally change imprints or agents, coordinated departures of this size are rare, particularly from a major house with decades of literary prestige. Some writers are now exploring legal avenues to regain control of their previously published works, which could further complicate the situation.
Related: This 1,000-Page Novel Is Just One Sentence — And It Won a Major Award
For readers, the implications are less immediate but still meaningful. Publishing houses influence which voices are amplified and which stories reach a broad audience. When a large group of authors publicly questions that system, it raises concerns about how books are selected, marketed and distributed.
The dispute also arrives as the publishing industry is already navigating consolidation, digital disruption and shifting reader habits. Questions about ownership and influence are not limited to France, and similar debates have surfaced in other media sectors in recent years.
What happens next remains uncertain. Some of the departing authors are expected to seek new publishing homes, while others may delay upcoming projects as contracts and rights are sorted out.
For now, the episode stands as a rare and highly visible rupture in a traditionally quiet industry, one that is now facing a broader issue about who controls the stories readers ultimately see.
2002 Criminally Underrated Tom Hanks Film Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’
Rotten Tomatoes has compiled a list of the “300 Best Movies of All Time.” Topping the list are iconic films like The Godfather, Seven Samurai, Casablanca, and Rear Window. However, there are some hidden gems further down the list, like the underrated Steven Spielberg film, Catch Me If You Can.
This 2003 crime comedy-drama starred Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. The film was based on the supposedly true story of Frank Abagnale, Jr. He was a mastermind of deception who worked as a phony doctor, teacher, attorney, and co-pilot, all before he turned 18. He went on to be called one of the most successful bank robbers in history.
Abagnale was portrayed by DiCaprio with Hanks playing FBI Agent Carl Hanratty, whose mission was to take down the criminal. Christopher Walken, Amy Adams, James Brolin, and Martin Sheen also made appearances in the film. Walken was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 75thAcademy Awards and composer John Williams was nominated for Best Original Score.
Catch Me If You Can grossed $352 million worldwide, making it a commercial success. It currently has a 96% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an 89% audience score. It even went on to become a musical in 2011. It was nominated for several Tony Awards, including one for Best Musical and Best Actor in a Musical.
As one reviewer said when speaking about the film, “The script is smart, the cast is perfectly chosen, and every element, music, editing, cinematography are top notch. It moves beautifully and has more than a few laugh-out-loud moments along the way.”
Related: 1935 Boris Karloff Film Ranked Among ‘Best Horror Movies of All Time’
Another reviewer raved, “Catch Me If You Can is probably one of the best films amongst Spielberg's minor titles, [which says more about] the man's talent than it says anything negatively about the film.”
The real Abagnale made a cameo in the film as a French police officer. The script was based off the autobiography that he co-wrote with Stan Redding in 1980, which was also named Catch Me If You Can. However, journalists have investigated the claims made in his book and found no evidence to support most of his stories.
'Survivor' Winner Vulnerably Shares What Happened to Her Body After the Show
Survivor 49winner and Survivor 50 contestant Savannah Louie, 32, opened up to fans about what happened to her body during the show, and the weight gain and inflammation she dealt with for months after.
Louie took to Instagram to share two side-by-side photos of herself, with the one on the left being from two months before she played Survivor for the first time, and two months after being voted out of Survivor 50. "The body on the right is about 30 pounds heavier," she explained. "Both of these bodies are beautiful, but it was wild to see my body change so quickly in such a short time period and feeling like I had no control over what I was consuming."

While Survivor players infamously lose a lot of weight while surviving on only rice, coconuts, and whatever they can catch in the ocean or win during challenges—earlier seasons even gave the players a mirror before the final tribal and told them how much they lost—Louie says the dramatic weight loss and unusual diet leads to lasting problems back home.
"All that weight loss—it is so temporary," she said. "When you get back around food, you are just insatiable. My body was also really inflamed. Eventually, you do reach a point where you stop craving a whole box of cookies, because that's what I would do—I would literally eat an entire box of cookies in one sitting."
View this post on InstagramThe fan-favorite player admitted that struggling with her weight and food intake was hard for her, which is why she's choosing to open up about her battle now. "I felt really alone and I felt like I was going crazy," she said. "You don't have to play Survivor to have a warped mindset around food. So if there's anyone out there who's feeling maybe the same way, I just hope that they feel less alone."
In the comments, many other Survivor players admitted they went through the same thing. Survivor 44 winner Carolyn Wiger took to the comments to share that she "struggled with this too."
"I’m glad you’re sharing this... I couldn’t tell when I was actually full so I would just keep eating because I constantly felt like I was starving," she wrote. "It was as if I couldn’t stop eating." Wiger and Louie both said that CBS was very supportive as they dealt with the problem, with Wiger saying they got her a nutritionist and Louie working with a therapist.
It isn't just the women who struggled with disordered eating after getting home from the show. Four-time player Benjamin "Coach" Wade, who most recently appeared on Survivor 50, commented, "Post Survivor bod sucks, especially at 54."
"I've got to get a handle of my eating and my exercise," he added. "This time around it's been brutal."
Louie's situation was particularly tough because she went straight from winning Survivor 49 into filming for Survivor 50, so she had very little time to get her diet back in order between them. After 26 days on Survivor 49 from April 20 to May 15, 2025, she started filming for the milestone season on June 5, 2025. Nearly a year later, Louie says that her "weight eventually stabilized" and she "feels like [she 's] at a normal point" now.
1970 Solo Debut Album Recorded in Secret Ended the World's Most Iconic Band 56 Years Ago Today
On April 17, 1970, exactly 56 years ago today, Paul McCartney released his self-titled solo debut album, and the Beatles were officially over.
McCartney was recorded in near-total secrecy at his St John's Wood home in London on basic four-track equipment. Apart from small backing vocals from his wife Linda McCartney, Paul played every instrument himself and produced every track. The result was a deliberately lo-fi, unpolished album that broke sharply from the Beatles' studio perfection.
The Press Release That Broke the NewsFour days before the album's release, on April 9, 1970, advance copies went to the UK press with a self-interview Q&A attached. McCartney had refused to do a traditional press conference, so Apple Records' Peter Brown drafted questions for him to answer on paper. One of those answers confirmed he was stepping away from the Beatles.
The following morning, the Daily Mirror ran the headline "PAUL IS QUITTING THE BEATLES." Within hours, the story had traveled the world, reduced to screaming variations of the same split.
John Lennon Was FuriousJohn Lennon had already decided to leave the band more than six months earlier, but the group had agreed to keep the news private while business matters were sorted out. McCartney's Q&A blew that up. Lennon later told Rolling Stone, "We were all hurt that he didn't tell us that was what he was going to do."
'Maybe I'm Amazed' Became a ClassicMost of the album was recorded at home, but one track stands apart. "Maybe I'm Amazed" was cut at EMI's Abbey Road Studio Two on Feb. 15, 1970, with McCartney playing every instrument himself in a single day. He wrote it in 1969 as a tribute to Linda, crediting her with helping him through the Beatles' dissolution.
Though never released as a single, "Maybe I'm Amazed" was ranked No. 347 on Rolling Stone's 2004 list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It remains the only solo McCartney song to make the list.
The Album Hit No. 1 AnywayCritics panned McCartney at the time as under-produced and unfinished. Audiences disagreed. The album debuted at No. 2 in the UK, held back three weeks by Simon & Garfunkel'sBridge Over Troubled Water. In the US, it had sold more than a million copies by mid-May and spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top LPs chart. It eventually went double platinum and is now credited with helping shape DIY and lo-fi music for decades.
Fifty-six years later, the album that ended the Beatles still plays like a quiet love letter to Linda.
1978 Concert Film Ranked Among the ‘Best Movies of All Time’
The Last Waltz, the iconic 1978 documentary film directed by Martin Scorsese, has been named one of the best movies of all time. The '70s rock concert classic ranked on Rotten Tomatoes’ list of the 300 greatest movies of all time alongside blockbusters such as The Godfatherand Jaws.
The review aggregator gave the film an approval rating of 98% with a teaser that reads, "Among one of, if not the best rock movie ever made.”
The Last Waltz was released in theaters in April 1978. With a runtime of nearly two hours, it documented the farewell performance of Canadian American rock group the Band, filmed on Thanksgiving Day that year at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Other performers included Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Ron Wood, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, and more.
‘The Last Waltz’ was not a huge box office hitThe initial theatrical run of The Last Waltz brought a worldwide gross of about $367,000, according to Box Office Mojo.
Reviews were also mixed. Film critic Roger Ebert noted the “overall tenor of the documentary suggests survivors at the ends of their ropes." “There is the whole pointless road warrior mystique, of hard-living men whose daily duty it is to play music and get wasted. They look tired of it,” he added of the legendary band.
Ebert had more positive things to say about female performers such as Mitchell, Harris, and the Staple Singers, whom he described as “open-faced and happy.“
Downplaying critics who called The Last Waltz “the greatest rock documentary of all time,” Ebert concluded, “Watching this film, the viewer with mercy will be content to allow the musicians to embrace closure, and will not demand an encore. Yet I give it three stars? Yes, because the film is such a revealing document of a time.”

Robbie Robertson explained why the Band wanted to film their final concertThe Band formed in 1967 by Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, Robbie Robertson, and Levon Helm. They were best known for the songs "The Weight,” "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” and "Up on Cripple Creek." When they decided to go their separate ways, Robertson wanted to go out with a bang.
“It was hard just to let go, just to think this thing was going to happen without any kind of documentation at all,” he told CBC in an interview. "You know, it felt like we needed to do something about it. I mean, it started out that we were going to do just the simplest thing. We were going to do a little 16-millimeter thing just to get it on film, so you know, someday we could look at it. And it just snowballed, and when I got up enough nerve to ask Martin Scorsese to become involved with it, then we crossed over the line between amateur time and real filmmaker time.”
Scorsese added that he felt it was important for the Band and their fans to record their last concert. “And I figured at least it would be a reportage, you know, if anything,” he said.
The director used multiple 35mm cameras positioned around the California stadium and didn’t get any audience shots like those seen in the earlier concert film Woodstock.
In the Applet TV+ documentary Mr. Scorsese, Roberston said Scorsese was immediately interested in the project even though he was in the middle of shooting the film New York, New York at the time.
“So, we decided to do this over the Thanksgiving weekend [in 1976]. And instead of [Scorsese] taking a break, he would come up and shoot the concert,” the musician explained.
“Marty wrote a full script,” he added. “Song by song, word by word, of what needs to happen. He was on a headset and he’s telling everybody what’s coming next and what you need to catch. And meanwhile, they’re reloading film and batteries and hoping the cameras don’t die. It was an experiment in terror.”
Scorsese made no money on The Last Waltz and instead did it as a labor of love. “My agent wanted to kill me,” the Hollywood legend once said. “I just… said, ‘Yes … but I made the film.’ No amount of money could have compensated me for the … continuing beauty of… experiencing the work of that film. It’s like a gift.”
Ultimately, The Last Waltz ended up not being the Band’s last performance. In 1983, Danko, Hudson, Helm, and Manuel reunited for a tour without Robertson. The Band broke up for good in 1999.
’90s Heavy Metal Singer Shares Message After Unfortunate Incident
Chad Gray, the lead singer of the bands Mudvayne and Hellyeah, is facing a challenging situation involving his beloved French bulldog.
The heavy metal singer’s wife, Shannon Gunz, is giving fans a glimpse into a more personal moment as they deal with the unfortunate incident in their family.
In an Instagram update, the Sirius XM host revealed the health status of their adorable 6-year-old dog named Mad Lee Gray, who underwent emergency spinal surgery earlier this week due to a herniated disc.
Gunz delivered some reassuring news after they were able to visit their fur baby at the clinic.
According to her, Mad Lee Gray has been showing signs of improvement and responding well to medications, despite his scheduled second spinal surgery being postponed following a pneumonia diagnosis.
“Got to see the baby boy yesterday. Mad Lee is responding to antibiotics for pneumonia and will be coming home today. Unfortunately, because he got pneumonia, he didn’t get his second spinal surgery yesterday. We are just grateful he is ok. He still has movement in his back legs, he can stand, and we are hoping that with some rehab, our strong boy will be back on his feet soon. There is a possibility he will have another surgery, but for now, we don’t know,” the caption reads, along with the video of Gray’s wife comforting their beloved pet.
View this post on InstagramLastly, Gunz also expressed her gratitude for the “love and prayers” for Mad Lee Gray, adding, “@chadnesss and I are so blessed to have all the support. Thank you to Dr. Prouty at @lvvsc_hospital.”
The 54-year-old frontman also took to the comment section to express hope, despite the emotional toll of the situation.
“I love him so much, baby. What a time this has been. We’ll get through it, though. Just another bump in the road huh, Mad? We’re gonna get through it together as a family, buddy. Love you all - Daddy,” he said.

Fans also chimed in, sending love and prayers for their pup’s speedy recovery.
“Precious pup. We are sending you much love and prayer your way!” one wrote.
“Poor boy. They are like our own children. They don't complain while recovering,” another added.
“Sweet baby Mad Lee, feel better, buddy,” another added.
Earlier this week, Gunz posted a series of photos of Mad Lee along with a message asking fans and their followers for prayers after he went for a very serious and complicated spinal surgery.
“Due to past injury/surgery, there is scar tissue and it made the procedure very hard. They were unable to fix the herniated disc,” the radio personality also added.
As he continues to recover, the focus remains on his strength and healing, with hopes high for a full recovery and a safe return home.
Besides the 6-year-old Mad Lee, the couple also has Milly Alexandra, the adorable one-eyed senior French bulldog, who has built a strong following online with over 13.3K followers on Instagram.

Princess Cruises Just Announced a Massive New Ship Class—But You’ll Have to Wait Until 2035 to Sail
While the year 2035 might feel like a far-off future, Princess Cruises is already plotting a course for the next decade with the announcement of its brand-new "Voyager Class."
Building on the huge success of the current Sphere Class, the line has signed a landmark deal for three next-generation ships that promise to be the largest and most sustainable in the fleet’s history.
"The Voyager class will delight both our loyal guests and attract the next generation of Princess guests," said Gus Antorcha, Princess Cruises Presidentin a statement. "We have been leveraging extensive customer and agent research to strike the right balance between evolving our proven winners and introducing new concepts and partnerships grounded in what matters to our current and future guests."

View this post on InstagramFor those of us who have stepped aboard the Sun Princess, it’s easy to see why the excitement is already building. Having experienced the sheer "wow" factor of the glass-enclosed Dome and that sun-drenched, multi-story Piazza firsthand, the idea of an even more evolved platform is exactly what the premium traveler is looking for—a seamless blend of signature favorites and high-tech innovation.
"From exceptional dining and inviting pool environments to elevated entertainment and beautifully reimagined spaces throughout the ship, we are leaving no area untouched as we thoughtfully evolve the Princess experience," said Antorcha.
The three new Voyager Class ships, slated for delivery between 2035 and 2039, will clock in at a massive 183,000 gross tons, accommodating roughly 4,700 guests. But the real headline here is the "green" shift. These ships will be dual-fuel powered, primarily utilizing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to significantly slash air emissions.
It’s a move that aligns perfectly with the modern traveler’s desire for more thoughtful, sustainable ways to see the world without sacrificing the luxe amenities Princess is known for. We can hope to see reimagined outer decks and staterooms that lean into that indoor-outdoor flow we loved on the Sphere Class, creating a destination that feels expansive rather than crowded.

Even though the first ship won't cut through the waves for another nine years, the commitment to "leaving no area untouched" suggests a total evolution of the Princess experience.
From elevated entertainment to brand-new culinary partnerships, the Voyager Class is being designed as the ultimate launchpad for the next generation of cruisers. If the Sun Princess was the spark that changed our expectations of what a mega-ship could feel like, these new builds are the flame that will carry that legacy into the 2040s. It’s a long-lead look at the future of the sea, and if it's anything like the sun-filled spaces we've seen recently, it will be well worth the wait.

Aubrey Plaza Debuts Baby Bump on First Red Carpet Since Shocking Pregnancy News
Aubrey Plaza stepped back onto the red carpet this week with a radiant new glow.
The actress made her first major public appearance since announcing she is expecting her first child, attending a special screening for her upcoming animated series Kevin on Thursday, April 16 in New York City. Plaza, 41, posed while gently holding her belly, smiling at the camera alongside her costars.

For the event, Plaza wore a white and blue floral minidress, paired with white pointed-toe heels. She also carried a jeweled cat statuette, which was a nod to the title character of the new series. In a video of the carpet, she can be seen gently stroking the cat.

The outing came just days after Plaza publicly confirmed she is expecting a child with partner Chris Abbott on April 7. The announcement followed a pretty emotional year for the Parks and Rec alum after the death of her husband, Jeff Baena, by suicide in January 2025.

PEOPLE revealed that Plaza is opening up about the pregnancy in a forthcoming episode of Will Arnett’s Smartless podcast. When asked whether she would ever take birth control again, coming off the heels of a conversation regarding her 2004 stroke, she replied, “Well, there’s a baby inside.” She then clarified, “No, I said there is a baby inside of me right now.” The hosts congratulated her, calling the news exciting, while Plaza admitted, “I know, it’s very shocking.”
When asked about motherhood, she shared, “I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about, you know? It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”
The full episode will drop on Monday, April 20, and it is currently behind a paywall.
1973 Country-Rock Album Released 53 Years Ago Today Produced Zero Hit Singles Before Becoming a Timeless Classic
The Eagles did not strike gold with every record.
On April 17, 1973, exactly 53 years ago today, the band released Desperado, their ambitious Old West concept album. It debuted at a lowly No. 145 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at No. 41 in its eighth week. Neither of the two singles, "Tequila Sunrise" nor "Outlaw Man," cracked the Top 50. To this day, Desperado remains the Eagles' lowest-charting studio album.
The Old West ConceptThe idea for the album came to the band after a Tim Hardin concert. Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Jackson Browne, and J.D. Souther were sitting around jamming when Browne pulled out a book on Old West gunfighters given to him by Ned Doheny for his 21st birthday. That book sparked the album's anti-hero concept. The track "Doolin-Dalton" is a direct tribute to the real-life Doolin-Dalton Gang.
The Eagles recorded Desperado at Island Studios in London with producer Glyn Johns and released it on Asylum Records.
Not One Hit SingleThe album's title track is one of the Eagles' most iconic songs. Yet "Desperado" was never released as a single. It was also the first co-write between Henley and Frey, who would go on to anchor the band's biggest hits. Their debut album had produced three hits, including "Take It Easy" and "Witchy Woman," but Desperado produced none.
How Linda Ronstadt Made 'Desperado' a ClassicThe song's leap into the cultural canon owes a great deal to Linda Ronstadt. Ronstadt covered "Desperado" on her October 1973 album Don't Cry Now, just months after the Eagles released the original. Henley said in 2016 that the song "didn't get much attention until Linda Ronstadt recorded it." He called her version "poignant, and beautiful."
The Album's Legacy TodayDesperado eventually went double platinum. The album, once a commercial disappointment, is now considered an essential chapter of the Eagles' catalog and one of the defining country-rock records of the 1970s.
Fifty-three years later, "Desperado" still anchors Eagles tribute performances and Henley's solo shows. Not bad for a flop.

Zoey Deutch, Daughter of ‘Back to the Future’ Star Lea Thompson, Turns up the Heat in a Leather Dress
Zoey Deutch, daughter of Back to the Future star Lea Thompson, knows how to set the red carpet on fire.
The actress, 31, started her career as a teen on the Disney Channel, but scored serious creds with roles in indie flicks like Everybody Wants Some!! and Flower. Last year, she reunited with Texan director Richard Linklater in 2025’s Nouvelle Vague, in which she played screen legend Jean Seberg. But in a new red carpet appearance at CinemaCon, Deutch turned up the heat in a strapless black leather dress as she prepared to receive the CinemaCon Vanguard Award.

She's even appeared in her mom's 2017 directorial debut, The Year of Spectacular Men. But Thompson is best known for her roles as Lorraine Baines-McFly in the beloved Back to the Future trilogy. The iconic first film, released in 1985, introduced us to wild teenager Lorraine, whom sweet Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) meets when he travels back in time to 1955 in a DeLorean. Who could forget the iconic scene when his mom tries to kiss him as they sit outside the school dance in his car? Now that’s an awkward run-in!
What’s Next for Zoey Deutch?Deutch will likely score a goal with her next project. Back in January, Deadline announced that the rising star will play Marla Messing, the U.S. Women’s soccer executive who oversaw the 1999 World Cup tournament that set attendance and TV viewership records. ‘Outlander’ Fans Finally Get Answers About the Faith Storyline — And It Comes Straight From a Graphic Novel Idea
When Outlander Season 8 picked up the Faith storyline that many dreaded from the Season 7 finale, Diana Gabaldon spoke up. Sure, she may not have necessarily liked it, but she did admit that the idea was loosely based on one that she had herself. This isn’t the first time that Gabaldon has had an idea that the Outlander teams has run with, but it is the first time that it could have been an actual story.
Outlander Season 8 Episode 7 brought clear answers to the Faith mystery. How could she have survived all those years ago, and why didn’t Master Raymond get the baby to Claire? There are still some questions, but for many of us, those questions can likely rest easily as we have the important ones answered.
Diana Gabaldon Gave the ‘Outlander’ Team the IdeaGabaldon has made it clear in the past that the idea of Faith surviving in Paris came from an idea that she had. She had an idea for a second graphic novel, one that never came to be. It was going to be set during the second book, and part of it would involve Master Raymond getting Faith and reviving her.
As she told Matt B. Roberts and Maril Davis this idea, it’s clear that they liked it. They could run with this magical mystery. After all, it’s not like there weren’t magical mysteries in the series already. There’s time travel that hasn’t fully been explained, and we just accept that!
Gabaldon never said if the whole Outlander Season 8 storyline would play out the way she envisioned for the graphic novel. After all, she wouldn’t want to spoil the TV storyline!
Courtesy of STARZ
Faith’s Survival Has Finally Been ExplainedAfter seven episodes of wondering, we finally got answers. It turns out that Jane knew a little of the story via her mother, and her mother had learned it from the woman she grew up with as a mother.
Master Raymond had managed to revive Faith, and then he took her to the lacemaker who lived across the road from his apothecary. He knew he could trust her to look after the baby, explaining that he would be back. If he couldn’t return, then she should go see Lady Broch Tuarach.
And so, all the theories that many Outlander fans had came true. Master Raymond couldn’t get back, and Claire had left Paris by the time the lacemaker went to find her. Faith had learned of the story growing up, as the lacemaker finally learned that Lady Broch Tuarach lived in the North Carolina mountains, and that’s where Faith was heading with her family at the time the ship was attacked.
It’s a bittersweet ending, but Claire and Jamie now know that Fanny is their granddaughter. On top of that, Fanny has learned who her biological grandparents are. A family has been reunited.
And yes, how Fanny knew the song also came up — that was also thanks to Master Raymond. This wouldn’t come from the graphic novel, but at least the answers have finally been given, and Master Raymond isn’t as evil as many were making him out to be.
Carey Mulligan's Children Are a Mystery From the Public—and It's Very Much on Purpose
Carey Mulligan's kids changed her life in a lot of ways.
The British-born Beef Season 2 star shares three kids with husband Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons, and while she keeps her family life largely private, she says that her tykes have each impacted her work onscreen (as well as, obviously, her life at home offscreen).
Mulligan told Baby in 2018, “What does motherhood change? Well, your whole life—it’s undeniable—it changes everything. As regards my work, I don’t know if motherhood is always the first thought on my mind when I read a script, but I would suspect it’s altered my attitude.”
Part of her change in attitude is her approach to growing older. In 2026, she told the New York Times that her kids don't really understand Hollywood's—and sports'—fear of aging.
"It’s good to get older, but it is weird when all the Olympians are like 15 years younger. At the Winter Olympics they were like, 'God, he’s 32, and it’s unbelievable he’s come back,'" she said. "My kids were like: 'Why do they keep saying Lindsey Vonn is [old]? She’s only your age, Mommy.' I was feeling fine about aging until I watched the Olympics."
Get to know the little ones who keep Mulligan humble.
How many kids does Carey Mulligan have?Mulligan told the The Times of London in 2018 that balancing work and motherhood—including cooking dinner for her children every night—leaves her exhausted by 7:30 p.m. most days.
That said, the Oscar-nominated actress loved children even before she had her own. Mulligan is a longtime ambassador for the charity War Child, which supports kids' physical and psychological safety in war-torn areas and works to provide education and resources to children in need. She told Glamour U.K. in 2020 that since becoming a mother herself, her work with the organization feels more crucial than ever.
"It impacts you a lot but definitely since having kids," she said. "It's just impossible to imagine my kids having to go through anything like what these kids have experienced. They're incredible, so many of them have a joy and desire to learn. That's what really strikes me when I'm on trips with War Child, is that you never see a kid who doesn't want to be in school. The desire to be the best in their class, to know the answer to the question—everyone wants to be learning. There's a real hunger for education and there's nobody who's taking it lightly."

How old was Carey Mulligan when she had her third child?Mulligan and Mumford's third child's exact birthdate isn't publicly known. That said, Mulligan was born on May 28, 1985, so depending on exactly when their second daughter was born in 2023, Mulligan was either 37 or 38 years old at the time.
Related: Carey Mulligan Confirms She Welcomed Third Child Under the Radar
What are Carey Mulligan's children's names?Mulligan's eldest child is her daughter Evelyn Grace Mumford. Her son's name is Wilfred Mumford. Her third child, a girl, hasn't had her name made public.
Who are Carey Mulligan's children?Evelyn MumfordMulligan got back to work almost immediately after welcoming Evelyn Grace, now 10, on Sept. 15, 2015.
“The first time I did press after I’d had my daughter, she was one month old,” Mulligan recalled to the Times. “I literally ran to the red carpet, did it, ran home, pulled off my dress and fed her in my Spanx and six-inch heels.”
In 2022, she told Vanity Fair that she suffered from postpartum depression after Evelyn was born, but that getting back into a routine, and specifically working on the films Suffragette and She Said, helped her heal.
"It was either cancel the whole thing or just get on and do it," she explained. "And that—and a combination of lots of other things, and help and support from everyone around me—was my light." She added that playing journalist Megan Twohey, who broke the Harvey Weinstein serial sexual assault, harassment and misconduct scandals for the New York Times, helped her as well, because Twohey also overcame postpartum depression.
She also revealed that when Evelyn asked her about her work on She Said, she told her, “'Well, it’s about these two women, they’re journalists, and they tell stories. But what’s amazing about the story that they told is that it sort of changed the world.'”
In 2018, Mulligan told the Times that she was physically strong thanks to carrying Evelyn and Wilfred up five flights of stairs to the family's apartment, but that watching them grow up in front of her eyes also makes her hyper-aware of her own age.
"I’m lucky, I feel very happy, I’ve got the dream job, a lovely husband, this incredible family," she explained. "But you hear a song that you listened to when you were 19 and suddenly think, ‘Woah! I was 19 two minutes ago. Why am I 33 now?’"
She added that Evelyn specifically kept her humble and keeps her vanity in check.
"Someone tried to give me Botox when I was 23. I was bothered by the lines under my eyes, and went to see someone, hoping for a cream, but they said, 'We can just put a bit of Botox in,'" she said. "And I replied, ‘My whole job is about me moving my face!’ That said, at the moment my daughter’s favorite thing is to push my forehead together and shout, ‘Mummy, lines!’ There is nothing like a little bit of toddler truth."

Wilfred MumfordWilfred, Mulligan and Mumford's only son, is kept as under wraps as her daughters. One thing we do know about the now-eight-year-old, born in August 2017? During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family invented a game that kept him and his big sister busy.
Mulligan told InStyle in 2020, “My favorite game to play is filling a tray of toys with water and putting it in the freezer overnight, and then the kids get to ‘rescue’ their toys. They love it and it takes hours.”
Mulligan expounded on her pandemic parenting to Harper's Bazaar, venting, “I got knitting stuff at the beginning of lockdown and I tried it once, and was like, 'I don’t have f–king time to knit. I can’t do this. I can’t learn anything. I’m just going to keep the children entertained and then go to bed and do it again.'”
In April 2026, Mulligan revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that her and Mumford's kids also enjoy touring with their dad—but that the rock and roll stereotype doesn't apply to their family.
"It's a school bus," she quipped. "It very much does operate like a school bus ... It's great fun. [The kids] love it."

Unnamed daughterMulligan confirmed in October 2023 that she and Mumford welcomed a second daughter that year, but very few other details about her exist publicly, including her name.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in November 2023, Mulligan described her baby girl as "Great. Good baby, 10 out of 10, so far."
Her friend, Emily Blunt, did dish on getting to hold the youngest Mumford on a flight to Los Angeles.
"We were on the same flight over, and I got to snuggle her delicious baby, who I got to just sort of bite her cheeks," Blunt said. "She is so beautiful."
Mulligan said with a chuckle, "She stole my baby for a good 20 minutes, and I was very happy with that."
In January 2025, Mulligan revealed to PEOPLE that she had her then-newborn daughter with her on the set of the film The Ballad of Wallis Island and appreciated the production team's accommodations for her when she was newly postpartum.
“When they sent [the script] to me, I said 'I'd love to do it, but I will have like a 12-week-old baby,' and they were just amazing,” she said. “[My daughter] came with us. She was upstairs in every house that we filmed in and I would just do the scene, go up, see her, feed her, and then come back down. So they made it incredibly easy and it was kind of lovely,”

2 Supplements You Should Never Take if You Want To Protect Your Liver, According to Hepatologists
These days, there seems to be a supplement for every ailment under the sun. Supplements aren't new, but social media can make them feel like novel and magical cure-alls for everything from a need to detox to perimenopause symptoms.
"Supplements are not all helpful to all people, simply because they may be available without a prescription," says Dr. Jenn Batisti, MD, a gastroenterologist, transplant hepatologist and an assistant professor of medicine at the Yale School of Medicine.
She warns that different supplements can improve or harm certain bodily processes and the effects of medications, and another hepatologist echoes these sentiments.
"The FDA does not regulate supplements as strictly as prescription drugs, meaning their purity and ingredient levels may not be accurate," adds Dr. Shalom Z. Frager, MD, the director of clinical hepatology and a staff physician in gastroenterology at Hackensack University Medical Center.
That can become a big-time issue when it comes to protecting your liver health. "The liver is a vital organ with over 500 functions," Dr. Frager explains. "Its main roles include filtering toxins from the blood, aiding in digestion by producing bile and creating essential nutrients for the body. It also plays a crucial part in metabolism, immunity and the storage of vitamins."
Many of the above (such as filtering toxins and boosting immunity) are reasons why people may take certain supplements unnecessarily. Two supplements in particular can harm the liver if you take them in excess. Hepatologists revealed which ones to avoid if you want to protect your liver.

2 Supplements You Should Never Take if You Want To Protect Your Liver, According to HepatologistsHepatologists are begging people to avoid high-dose vitamin A and excessive iron supplementation because it can harm the liver.
"Excessive amounts of vitamin A...can be stored in the liver and overwhelm the organ’s normal storage [processes]," explains Dr. Batisti. "Unnecessary amounts of iron can build up within the liver over time, which can lead to scarring and even cirrhosis."
Big yikes. Here's a bit more about why high-dose vitamin A and iron can harm the liver.)
High-dose vitamin A can lead to liver failureFor starters, it might help to know what hepatologists even mean when they talk about high-dose vitamin A.
Dr. Batisti says high-dose vitamin A is defined as intake of more than "3,000 retinol activity equivalents." Retinol activity equivalents are what's used to measure your daily recommended allowance for Vitamin A. It takes into account the vitamins and provitamins that can be converted into vitamin A by the body.
"This includes the vitamin A and the provitamins that can be converted to vitamin A from foods," she explains. "That said, the upper tolerable limit of vitamin A may vary from person to person, and it is much lower in children."
Some people may benefit from vitamin A supplements. "People who have a vitamin A deficiency may be recommended to take vitamin A, which is important for the maintenance of normal vision, immune system function, and skin and membrane health," Dr. Batisti explains.
Yet, Drs. Batisti and Frager warn that exceeding your body's vitamin A needs is far from a "the more, the merrier" situation for your liver. Too much vitamin A can overwhelm your liver and interrupt its natural processes. It can trigger hypervitaminosis A, which can start as early as three months after taking a moderate or high dose of vitamin A.
"Hypervitaminosis A...can cause liver damage, inflammation and in severe cases, cirrhosis," Dr. Frager explains.
Dr. Rucha Shah, MD, an HonorHealth gastroenterologist and hepatologist, suggests taking a food-first approach to vitamin A intake by eating:
- Sweet potato
- Herring
- Salmon
- Carrots
- Eggs
- Leafy green vegetables

Iron toxicity is possible—and can hurt the liverDr. Shah says iron is a critical heavy metal that supports our blood cells and muscle tissues. "It can be quite common to hear about iron deficiency, which can lead to anemia," Dr. Shah explains. "Yet iron is a common supplement in any vitamins. Iron is also stored in the liver."
Dr. Shah warns that iron toxicity can occur more commonly than you think.
"Iron toxicity leads to cell damage by triggering collagen production with the liver cells, leading to a cascade of scarring that extends from the cells to the liver tissue itself," she reports.
Dr. Frager also says that people may need to take an iron supplement (such as those with anemia, which can also arise in people without the condition during pregnancy). Yet, iron is readily available in foods, and people without anemia or other medical conditions can usually meet their needs through:
- Lean red meat and poultry
- Oysters and clams
- Beans and lentils
- Fortified breakfast cereals

5 Other Ways To Protect Your Liver HealthIt's important not to consume too much vitamin A or iron, which can happen if you are unnecessarily supplementing. But that's not the only way to protect your liver. Hepatologists also recommend:
- Maintaining a healthy diet. Dr. Frager suggests a balanced diet that's low in processed foods, sugar and saturated fat. He says it can protect you from fat buildup in the liver, a risk factor for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), which we used to call non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
- Avoid alcohol. You've likely heard that alcohol can harm the liver. Dr. Batisti confirms that alcohol can irritate the liver cells and cause damage.
- Stay hydrated. Bottoms up—but not with booze. "Drinking plenty of water helps the liver flush out toxins and function properly," Dr. Frager notes.
- Log regular exercise. It's not just about what you put into your body. Moving it can also assist your liver health. "Physical activity helps maintain a healthy weight and can reduce liver fat," Dr. Frager says.
- Only take supplements under the direction of a physician. We know supplements are everywhere, but this is worth repeating: "Unnecessary supplements can be directly toxic to liver cells and can lead to liver failure," Dr. Batisti warns.
Your care team and a registered dietitian can help you find the right eating plan (and maybe supplements) to support your liver and your entire body.
