Wake up, babe: the World Cup anthem just dropped and people have opinions. When the iconic event’s opening ceremony took place on June 12,  the flags were flying, and iconic Colombian star Shakira dominated the broadcast. But this time, the performance of Dai Dai came with a heavy dose of whiplash.

The internet looked at the calendar, then the screen, and did some quick math. A post on Reddit summed up the realization. One fan wrote: “I woke up for a few seconds, told my husband Waka Waka was 16 years ago, gave him an existential crisis, and went back to bed.”

Shakira’s smash hit ruled the airwaves that summer. The drums, the infectious beat, and the easy to sing along to chorus ensured the song’s chokehold on every car radio from Miami to Madrid.

Fans felt the new performance tried its best. There were sequins, pyrotechnics, and the usual killer choreography. But matching the memory of that song was always going to be an uphill battle. The crowd wanted that old feeling back, and the new track didn't quite deliver the same punch, fans said.

Not everyone thought the new material lived up to the legacy. “It's no Waka Waka, that's for sure. Falls a bit flat,” one viewer noted.

Another fan disagreed, choosing to trust the process: “Waka Waka becomes more iconic because of the memories created that summer. Gotta let this one marinate and see where it goes.”

Still, the feeling among fans is the same: the tournament doesn't feel official until Shakira shows up to drop a beat and dance routine you probably won’t be able to recreate. She has become as synonymous with the global tournament as the trophy itself, relying on her unique  brand of stadium pop.

Fans are already drawing parallels to other seasonal pop stars. “She has a formula and it works!” wrote one commenter, while another added, “Shakira is the World Cup Anthem Queen, just like Mariah Carey is the Christmas Time Queen.”

 As another fan bluntly put it: “It’s not a World Cup without Shakira!”

“Waka Waka was peak for sure," another agreed. Maybe it was. But sixteen years later, the formula still works, even if it leaves fans feeling ancient in the process.

The vessel is the world's first cruise ship equipped with a revolutionary rigid wind propulsion system featuring three automated sails that tower over 320 feet in the air. Because these massive structures rotate a full 360 degrees to capture the wind, the ship can achieve 100% wind-powered propulsion under favorable conditions—clocking a cool 12 knots under sail alone during its recent sea trials.

"This new ship is a concrete, technical response to the decarbonisation challenges facing maritime transport," said Laurent Castaing, Chief Executive Officer of Chantiers de l'Atlantique, noting that the eco-conscious design is the result of 10 years of intense research and development.

Christina Applegate has kept her sense of humor amid her multiple sclerosis journey.

Following the 54-year-old actress' recent reported hospitalization, her former Married… With Children co-star, David Faustino, said his on-screen sister is just as funny as always, despite her 2021 MS diagnosis.

"I admire her being strong in the face of this, even though it's been a real blow," Faustino, 52, told Us Weekly in an interview published on Thursday, June 11. "It's been very hard for her, but she does keep her humor."

Faustino praised Applegate's "dry, sarcastic sense of humor" that she's had "since the moment I met her," noting that "nothing has changed" when it comes to her demeanor now. "She gets through this with some humor, and that's kind of her way that she moves through it," he said.

Faustino said that as his TV sister has struggled with her health, he's been sure to support her "as a person on her team that gives her as much love as I can."

"I do a lot of visits with her. A lot of texting, a lot of checking in. A lot of funny just crap that we talk about. And that's all I can do, right? Give her my love," Faustino continued. "We do have deep convos when we sit. But we also keep the laughter [going] as well."

Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in June 2021 while filming the final season of Netflix's Dead to Me, but had been suffering from symptoms for years before receiving an official diagnosis.

Following reports in April that she had been hospitalized, the You With the Sad Eyes author took to Instagram with a message of appreciation for those who had sent their love.

"Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "Health issues are a constant for me, but I'm a strong chick and I'm getting stronger and better every day. I'm taking a moment to focus on my health, but I'll be back with more to say soon enough."

Fifteen years ago, Michelle Visage made the career change of a lifetime. Up to that point, she had been topping the charts as a part of many vocal groups, most prominently Seduction. But, in 2011, her good friend RuPaul had an opening for a permanent judge on the then-little-known reality show RuPaul's Drag Race. The rest is "herstory."

Visage has served as Ru's right-hand woman ever since Season 3, one of the biggest constants during the show's meteoric rise to fame. She's even filled in for the Emmy winner at some points as host, taking the reins of Australia's version of Drag Race starting in 2024. So, when Parade got the chance to speak with Visage while she was doing promotion for Ru's new film, Stop! That! Train! (now in theaters), in true Drag Race fashion, we had to ask her: Given what she knows now, what would she tell the Michelle of 15 years ago?

"Oh, there's probably a few things I would say," the 57-year-old quips. "Drag comes in all shapes and colors. I think that Michelle tried really hard to stand out, but also at the same time, fit in. Not that anything was ever inauthentic, it was just extra. And now I try to bring that extra to myself into my love of this art form and share that, so that same person is still there."

"Back then, it was a very certain one-note thing that I knew about drag growing up in New York City," she continues. "And being able to see drag around the world and throughout the country has opened my mind in many ways that I didn't expect it to be open. All that extraness that I think I did in the beginning was because of the ballroom scene that I grew up in, and the way that I saw drag, and the way that I saw the queer community in New York City, which changed my life. But it's been a gift to be able to see it throughout the world, and specifically in the States, the way they do it regionally, that's just different."

Indeed, over the past decade and a half, Visage has judged almost 300 queens as they compete for the title of "Next Drag Superstar." They've come from all sorts of aesthetics, backgrounds and even countries. But, despite their diversity, she does note there's one thing that many of them fall victim to their first time on the show.

"I think a common mistake is when the queens try to edit themselves," she reveals. "I think, having been a contestant on reality TV, I know that when I go into it, I think of what everybody's going to think about me, and try to figure out what that looks like. But the reality is, the minute you drop that is when people fall in love. The minute you let that go and let people see the kind of tender underbelly is when people can relate to you. The biggest mistake on any TV show is to think that you can produce yourself to make everybody love you. People are going to love you for who you are more than anything you think you could produce."

"The persona is awesome," she clarifies. "It's very cool to have that kind of 'Sasha Fierce,' that kind of alter ego that you use when you're performing, and you can slip in and out of that. It's when you take it to method acting level, where you're like that off the camera, it becomes a little bit much. And you've seen me say it over the years, it's like, 'I don't know who you are.' Because you have spent so much time in the shell of this character, we don't know who lies beneath. And some people don't want us to know the lies beneath, or they can't handle allowing us in, and I love and respect that. But I can tell you right now that the more we see of that, the more we fall in love. And I have to heed that for myself when I do these things."

Outside of a small role in Stop! That! Train! and her current work on Season 11 of Drag Race All-Stars, Visage will next be seen leading the highly-anticipated all-star season Drag Race Down Under vs. the World. People who purchase tickets through Fandango to see the new film will get a free three-month subscription to WOW Presents Plus, which houses all of the international Drag Race content. It will be Visage's second season as a host, which, despite her work on the franchise for all these years, comes with quite the transition.

"Being the host versus being a judge is different," she explains. "It's a different set of rules that you have for yourself of what you can and cannot do, and how you should and should not be. And I've only done it to myself, just to be clear; it's me and the way I hold myself.

"I hold myself responsible to be accessible and be there for these queens, and I try to be as real as I can be and as authentic as I can be. And as a judge, I do the same, but I don't have the same connection when I'm a judge. On RuPaul's Drag Race, it's Mama Ru, and that's her show. And I do my job as the judge, and I take it very seriously. But it's different when you get to have the one-on-one times with them, and you get to walk through the 'Werk Room' and do stuff like that."

Ru leaves big heels to fill (quite literally). But, showcasing the professionalism and skills she's honed over 15 years, it's safe to say Michelle Visage is ready to bring it to the runway.

In an era when streaming dominates the music business, live concerts remain one of the industry's biggest revenue drivers. Few are proving that more dramatically than The Weeknd.

The global pop superstar kicked off the European and U.K. leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour on June 11 with a sold-out performance at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England, performing for nearly 43,000 fans.

But the most eye-popping numbers aren't coming from a single night.

According to tour figures released this week, The Weeknd's tour has already sold more than 3 million tickets and generated more than $440 million in revenue during 2026 alone. Those figures are part of a larger phenomenon that has transformed the tour into one of the most successful concert runs in music history.

Since launching in 2022, the After Hours Til Dawn Tour has sold more than 7.5 million tickets across 153 shows and surpassed $1 billion in global grosses, making it the highest-grossing tour ever by a male solo artist.

The scale is difficult to overstate.

In the 1970s and 1980s, even the biggest touring acts in the world—including Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna and Michael Jackson—operated in a vastly different touring environment.

Stadium tours were major events. But ticket prices, global routing, sponsorship opportunities and the sheer scale of modern productions were nowhere near today's levels.

By comparison, modern megatours can generate hundreds of millions of dollars in a single year. While inflation-adjusted comparisons are difficult, few artists from the 1970s or 1980s could match the combination of audience size and revenue being generated by today's largest global tours.

The Weeknd's current run has become a worldwide event, spanning North America, Europe, Latin America, Australia and now Asia. Demand has been so strong that the artist recently expanded his upcoming Asian leg from 11 stadium shows to 17.

The production itself has also grown. This year's shows feature a new 40-foot gold sculpture created by renowned Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama, along with elaborate stage design, dancers, pyrotechnics, lasers, and cinematic visuals that have become hallmarks of the tour.

The success comes as The Weeknd continues to build on a song catalog that includes global hits such as "Blinding Lights," "Starboy" and "Can't Feel My Face."

For an artist who began his career anonymously by uploading songs online, selling 3 million tickets and generating $440 million in just six months is a reminder of how dramatically the music business and the scale of superstardom have changed.

Meghan Markle looks carefree and happy in a new video posted to Instagram.

In the clip she walks across the grounds of her home in Montecito, swinging a bottle of rosé by her brand As Ever, and heading for a table covered with a white tablecloth and set with a wine cooler and glasses.

She's all smiles as she uncorks the rosé and pours it, before she and a mysterious stranger clink their glasses of rosé together.

The other person's manicured hand bears a striking resemblance to Meghan's own—perhaps the Duchess of Sussex is toasting herself and her young company's success.

A fountain gurgles, the rosé rests on a pretty stone bench, the trees rustle around the fairytale glade and the light begins to fade. Meghan reaches for the pair of mules she's slipped out of and pads away barefoot into the evening.

The brown suede 'Catherine' mules are by Veronica Beard, and Meghan's ivory blazer is by Celine. She's layered it over a white tank top, white cropped pants, and a brown suede belt.

Earlier this year Meghan got into a bit of hot water during her and Prince Harry's visit to Australia, when she merched her white and blue striped Matteau shirt immediately after wearing it to meet survivors of the Bondi Beach terror attack in December.

The duchess was heavily criticized for what some saw as her attempt to exploit the horrific massacre, in which 15 people were killed.

'Meghan Just Turned a Massacre Site Into an Online Shopping Mall' was the title of royal commentator Tom Sykes' post via Substack.

"Selling the clothes off her own back at the site of a massacre where 15 people died might come easily to Meghan, but, like any right-minded person, I find this sickening," he wrote.

"It really shouldn't need saying, but when you are meeting people affected by an antisemitic mass shooting you shouldn't be looking to make a quick buck."

The Bondi Beach outfit was subsequently quietly removed from OneOff.

Meghan launched her 2024 Napa Valley rosé last August.

At first glance,  Pat Boone and Ozzy Osbourne were complete opposites. The clean-cut crooner built his decades-long career on a foundation of Christian values, while Osbourne, nicknamed the “Prince of Darkness,” embraced dark, demonic themes in his work.

But sometime in the late 1990s, the Boones and Osbournes became Beverly Hills neighbors—and, eventually, friends.

During a June 2026 appearance on The Magnificent Others With Billy Corgan podcast, Boone, now 92, recalled his first meeting with Osbourne in their driveways.

“I did a heavy metal album. I did an album of heavy metal classics,” Boone told host Billy Corgan. “It was big band jazz, is what it was, and I was treating their songs as real music.”

“Ozzy moved in next door,” Boone continued. “Next door, just over the hedge from me for about two years. And I had just done his song ‘Crazy Train’ for the album.  And he knew it. And so I go out to get the mail, and here he comes shuffling down the sidewalk to get in an Escalade to go, and I said, 'Hi, Ozzy, Pat Boone,' through the gate. ‘Oh hi Pat, nice to meet you,’ he says. ‘I got to go to an AA meeting, and then when I get back we'll get together and have some tea.’ And so we did. We had tea together, and we got to be buddies.“

Boone noted that Osbourne was nothing like his wildman stage persona and was instead a loving family man.

“He was just a good neighbor,” the "Love Letters in the Sand” singer shared. "Recently, on one of my posts when he was called The Prince of Darkness, I said, ‘No, that's not the man I knew. I'd call him the Prince of Kindness.'"

“His family, his kids, and he had crosses, although a lot of demon things, too, in his house because that was part of his image,” Boone recalled, adding, “I remember him saying once he was young, I had two choices. I could be a musician or a criminal. And I was glad he chose music.”

Boone’s cover of Osbourne’s “Crazy Train,” from his album In a Metal Mood, eventually became the opening theme song for The Osbournes MTV reality show.

Boone later told the Associated Press he watched every episode of the MTV reality show and looked back fondly on being neighbors with the heavy metal family.

“[My] fondest memory ... was riding bikes with Sharon through Beverly Hills on the sidewalks, and she's towing Ozzy behind her in a wagon because (of his) balance problem,” Boone said, per Blabbermouth.net.

Shortly after Osbourne’s death in July 2025, Boone posted to Instagram to reflect on his unlikely friendship with the Black Sabbath legend.

“When he and Sharon and the kids lived next door to me for a couple of years, we weren’t rock stars comparing careers – we were just friends and neighbors getting along just fine,” Boone shared. “Others may celebrate his incredible rocking style and hard rock music – but I’ll always remember his warm friendliness as my neighbor.”

Lindsay Arnold is officially a mother of three!

The Dancing With the Stars pro, 32, took to Instagram on Thursday, June 11, to announce that she and her husband, Sam Cusick, had welcomed their third baby, a little boy.

After undergoing a planned C-section, the professional dancer shared some of the first photos of her little boy cuddled up on her chest at the hospital as Cusick, 32, proudly looked on. In another photo, the father of three can be seen cradling his son while taking in some of his first moments with the little one.

"Baby boy is here and we are so grateful and so in love," Arnold wrote in the caption of her Instagram post, adding the hashtags "#babyboy," "#birth," and "#csection."

Arnold's news was met with plenty of well-wishes from her Dancing With the Stars family, with fellow pro Emma Slater commenting, "He’s here!!!! CONGRATULATIONS you guys!! So happy for you!" Daniella Karagach chimed in, "Love you!!!! Congrats you guys," as Jenna Johnson wrote alongside several gushing emojis, "Omggggg!!!! Baby boy!"

Arnold and Cusick, who tied the knot in June 2015, also share daughters Sage and June, whom they welcomed in November 2020 and May 2023, respectively.

The couple announced in November 2025 that they were expecting a third child, with Arnold writing on Instagram at the time, "BABY CUSICK #3 IS ON THE WAY ... We could not feel more blessed, grateful and excited. We love you so much already baby and we can’t wait to meet you!!"

The following month, Arnold revealed that she and Cusick were expecting a son, adding their first boy to the bunch.

"We feel so beyond grateful and blessed to be bringing our first boy into this world," the ABC dance competition show alum wrote on Instagram in December 2025. "Our girls cannot wait and ask every day how much longer until baby brother is here."

APOCÆLYPSE, the newly formed supergroup created by rock legend Ira Black, finally made its official debut.

The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 20 airs on Bravo starting July 9. 

British rock band Muse has announced a huge U.K. and Europe tour in support of their upcoming album.

The band, formed in 1994 and consisting of vocalist and guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard, is gearing up for the release of their much-anticipated 10th studio album, The Wow! Signal, out on June 26 via Warner Records.

In support of the new release, the Grammy Award-winning rockers have unveiled an extensive tour that sees stops in major cities across the U.K. and Europe. The Wow! Signal Europa Tour kicks off on Nov. 12 at Manchester's Co-Op Live, with performances in London, Milan, Paris, and more, before concluding in Zurich on Dec. 8.

Various ticket pre-sales kick off on Wednesday, June 17, at 10:00 am local time, and general on-sale begins Friday, June 19, at 10:00 a.m. local time at muse.mu.

Olivia Rodrigo's third album releases today, but last night she went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and told a story that proves sometimes music is stronger than blood. Her mom, she explained, skipped her headlining set at Lollapalooza to see Korn.

Rodrigo, 23, stopped by the ABC late-night show on Wednesday to perform 'The Cure' and promote you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which arrives today via Geffen Records as her follow-up to 2023's Guts. The visit turned into something much more quirky than a standard promo stop. Kimmel asked about her family, and what she shared were stories of a household with considerably more eclectic taste than anyone might expect from the parents of a giant pop music star.

'My mom likes so many crazy metal bands, which you would never guess just looking at her,' Rodrigo told Kimmel. She recalled headlining Lollapalooza in 2025 and finding herself scheduled opposite Korn on a different stage. Festival logic suggested a clean division in which 'the Olivia fans will go see Olivia, the Korn fans will go see Korn, there's really no overlap.' Well, there was one overlap. 'It was my mom. My mom skipped my show to go see Korn. I let her do it. I'm happy she got her night.'

The story about her dad was equally unexpected. Rodrigo's father, she said, has seen The Cure perform 30 times. When he finally met Robert Smith (who collaborated with Rodrigo on the album track 'what's wrong with me' and performed with her at Primavera Sound this spring), the reaction was not what you'd expect from, as Rodrigo put it, someone who 'is like a protector.' 'The tears started welling up in his eyes," she said on the show. His phone screensaver, she added, is now a photo of himself and Smith.

The album title itself, Rodrigo revealed, came from a single random comment. She and longtime producer Dan Nigro were talking about her life when he said, out of nowhere, 'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.' Her response: 'That's it. That's the title we've been searching for so long.' The record, she told Kimmel, is about romantic love 'in a nuanced way, it definitely has its highs and lows.'

When Kimmel guessed that 'stupid song' would be the album's biggest hit, Rodrigo explained the title isn't self-deprecating, but rather about the limits of language. 'When you're trying to write about something that's as deep and all-encompassing as romantic love,' she said, 'every song feels a little bit frivolous.' (The lyric at the center of it: 'I want you more than any stupid song could ever say.')

There’s something about pulling into a New England harbor in summer that sets all of my Nancy Meyers, Diane Keaton, Martha Stewart fantasies into motion. As soon as you hop off the pier, you're smack in the middle of a charming harbor town, with the smell of buttery lobster rolls wafting through the streets.

Pair that with lighthouse views, lush hydrangea bushes billowing with pink and purple blooms, and the kind of cool coastal air that makes New England truly magical in July and August, and you've found the kind of heaven typically found in rom-coms (or insta feeds circa the early 2000's).

That, to me, is the appeal of a New England cruise: it still gives you the ease and joy of unpacking just once, but swaps the expected tropical itinerary for seafood shacks, colonial cities, maritime history, 1700's architecture and ports that beckon an all-day exploration.

"For travelers who want more than a beach-and-pool-deck trip, the New England region offers a little bit of everything," says Vicki Freed, Royal Caribbean’s Senior Vice President of Sales, Trade Support and Service. The timing, she noted, came with real perks: wildflowers in bloom, summer activities in full swing and very few crowds without rushing.

Done the Caribbean and Alaska already? New England is the coast most cruisers skip, and it shouldn't be. This June, a brand-new ship leaves Boston for the first time. American Cruise Lines' American Maverick makes its maiden voyage on June 11—seven nights through the New England islands—and it's not sailing alone into the region. Boston is turning into a cruise port mecca, with Holland America running 18 Canada-and-New England itineraries out of the city this season, including a new 28-day route that runs all the way to Iceland.

“Like vacations in the Caribbean or Alaska, New England sailings are uniquely reflective of the destinations they visit. The region is compelling for travelers for its walkability, history and charming coastal culture–plus the fantastic sightseeing and food!” Freed says.

It's pretty practical too, especially for East Coast travelers: you get a full week away without the flights, the passport, or the August heat of the tropics—just a short drive to the port.

It helps that the ports don't blur together either. "Each port has its own personality," Pochop wrote—Boston's history, Portland's food scene, Charlottetown's charm. Freed makes a similar case for the region as a whole: "As vacationers continually look for meaningful travel experiences, New England really delivers, combining natural beauty, culinary experiences and more."

When to Go

June through August is when everything's in bloom and running, with guaranteed warm days, long evenings, and waterfront towns fully open for the season. July and August suit families tied to school calendars, while late August into early September brings a calmer, shoulder-season feel before the leaf-peeping crowd.

"Summer is a peak season to visit New England for good reason," Freed says. "The region's warm weather and crisp breezes are ideal for coastal sightseeing, exploring charming waterfront towns, outdoor adventures and more. Summer also coincides with whale watching season, which runs from April to October, making it the perfect time for a cruise vacation in particular."

June deserves a look, too. Pochop noted blooming wildflowers and fewer crowds, but warned that Atlantic weather shifts fast, with rain, fog, chilly mornings and warm afternoons all possible on one sailing. In other words: pack layers, walking shoes, and a poncho or good travel umbrella.

No kids' club, no waterslides, no families rushing the buffet. Valiant Lady runs an eight-night route from New York on September 19, 2026, calling at Boston, Portland, Saint John and Halifax. On board there's no buffet and no cover charges; all 20-plus eateries are included, from Korean barbecue at Gunbae to steak and seafood at The Wake, with The Galley food hall standing in for the buffet. Just note that alcohol isn't included—you pre-load a Bar Tab instead—and the headline dinner shows cost extra.

Ashore, the excursions highlight what makes each port famous, like a lobster and brewery tour out of Portland, sea kayaking and a mussel boil in Halifax, a hike through Irving Nature Park in Saint John, and the classic coastal drive to Peggy's Cove and its lighthouse.

The recently refurbished Norwegian Breakaway sails seven-night Canada and New England routes from Boston, stopping in Portland, Bar Harbor, Halifax and across the Bay of Fundy. What "flexible" actually means here is Freestyle Cruising—no fixed dining times, no assigned seats, no formal nights. You turn up to dinner when you want, in what you want, and pick from a wide spread of restaurants rather than a single seating. Note, it also includes a kids club that is free, as long as you register your kiddos.

That setup suits families and friend groups who'd rather not build the evening around a 6 p.m. reservation. One thing to price out before you call it the cheap option, though is although the headline fare is low, drinks, gratuities, Wi-Fi and specialty dining are all extras. Ports You Can't Miss Bar Harbor, Maine

Bar Harbor is easily one of the most quaint towns in all of New England. The town is small, but it brings in thousands of tourists thanks to Acadia National Park, which surrounds it. You can drive or hike up Cadillac Mountain, the high point of the Eastern Seaboard, where for part of the year the summit catches the first sunrise in the United States. The park's carriage roads, built a century ago for horses and now given over to walkers and cyclists, thread through woods and over hand-cut stone bridges. The standing order afterward is tea and popovers (or a local beer) on the lawn at Jordan Pond House.

Portland, Maine

The fishing boats still unload where you can see them, which tells you most of what you need to know about Portland: it's a working harbor that happens to have an exceptionally great food town stacked on top of it. The Old Port's cobblestone blocks run dense with restaurants, oyster bars and breweries, and a short drive out at Cape Elizabeth, Portland Head Light has stood on the rocks since George Washington's administration commissioned it. Eat the lobster here (like the coveted brown butter lobster roll from Eventide); this is the port where it's freshest.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

"Originally founded as a Naval base, Halifax, Nova Scotia has evolved into an urban center that preserves its historic charm–from the iconic Citadel to dozens of museums–with a bustling waterfront lined with seafood restaurants, shopping and whale-watching excursions," she says. "It's a destination that offers more character and opportunities for adventure than vacationers may initially expect."

From the star-shaped Citadel, which commands the hill above downtown, to the harbor boardwalk that runs for blocks, this city boasts plenty to do, see, and eat. Whatever you do, don't miss the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, which holds one of the world's most significant collections of Titanic artifacts. The recovered victims were brought here, and many are buried in the city. Save half a day for Peggy's Cove and its much-photographed lighthouse, a short drive out.

Though one of their most iconic hits, "Sweet Home Alabama," might begin with a command to "turn it up," Lynyrd Skynyrd also knew how to slow it down...and not just on "Free Bird," either.

Released on their 1973 debut album, (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd), the soulful ballad "Tuesday's Gone" remains one of the band's most beloved tunes over 50 years later. And it's no wonder: Written by vocalist Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Allen Collins, "Tuesday's Gone" is sung from the very relatable perspective of someone who's moving on from a lost love (both literally and figuratively):

In the book Counting Down Southern Rock: The 100 Best Songs, author Eric C. Banister praised the track, writing, "Lyrically, 'Tuesday's Gone' may very well be Van Zant's songwriting masterpiece."

Banister also applauded the song's musical composition, writing, "Maybe due to the 'redneck' stereotype often played up by music journalists at the time or just a general bias against things from the South, many over the years have mistakenly remembered Skynyrd's music as simple, but with three guitars that never step on each other, there is more planning and orchestration than many consider."

Decades later, the emotional song took on an even deeper meaning, as late Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington told Classic Rock in 2012.

"When 9/11 happened it was a Tuesday, and the song everybody wanted to hear was 'Tuesday's Gone,'" Rossington recalled. "They played that song with the images of the two towers smoking and on fire, and it was real heavy. Certain songs mean a lot to certain people and they thank you for it or they say they live by that. It gives some meaning in their life, and it's always great to hear that. That's what we do it for."

In the same interview, Rossington reflected on Metallica's cover of "Tuesday's Gone," released on the band's 1998 covers album Garage Inc.

"I loved it," Rossington said, adding, "I actually went out to play that song with Metallica on their 30th anniversary...they're great friends of mine and I've had the opportunity to play with them twice and it was great. They're great musicians and they really do what they're doing well. They're really a hard-working band and put their heart and soul into it, and you can really tell when you hear them."

The same could be said of Lynyrd Skynyrd, of course: (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd) was ranked #381 on Rolling Stone's 2020 list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time."

Now, I don’t bring the exact same pairs of pants on every trip I take, but I usually pick three from specific categories. There are so many things that I love about a solid pair of linen pants. First and foremost, they are incredibly comfortable and breathable. If you’re traveling somewhere a bit warm, these are great for both the day time and the evening. They are also great to wear while you’re actually traveling to or from your destination. They are comfortable enough to feel like pajama bottoms but look very polished and put-together on the outside.

While I’m traveling, I use linen pants for multiple purposes. They are great to throw on over a bathing suit, giving you a nice cover up for a day spent at a pool or beach. They are also my go-to “relaxing” pants, which is useful for those in between moments on a trip. For example, if you’ve just come back from a day of shopping and have some time to relax before your dinner reservation, the linen pants are a great clothing item to put on to relax in.

This is the category that really throws people off. Many of us can get very attached to our jeans, and people tend to overpack in this specific category. I am here to tell you that you truly only need one pair of jeans for a trip. The key here is to pick a pair that has a shape that can work for multiple purposes. I tend to go for high-waisted, wide-legged jeans–which look great both during the day and the evening. They can pair well with a casual white sneaker, or can look dressed up with a pair of heels. I also make sure to choose a pair that would be comfortable for a flight, so ensuring they're a broken-in pair with breathable denim is important. As long as the jeans are comfortable, chic-looking, and are a neutral-denim color that can match the tops you packed, you’re all set.

The last pair of pants I’d suggest packing is a loose trouser. This can be a full length pair, or a loose-fit trouser short. This, of course, will change depending on the weather at your destination, but both are great options. Trousers can be versatile and fun to bring on vacation. They dress up your looks a little bit, which make you look very refined while on vacation. You can also easily dress them down or up to fit the vibe you’re going for.

Sometimes, I wear a pair of black loose trousers with ballet flats, a casual top, and an accessory like a hat or scarf. This creates a look that is still very much put together, but it’s not over the top. I’ll wear this for a day exploring museums or outdoor sight-seeing. For the evening, you could take the same pair of loose trousers and pair them with a heel, put on a dressier top, and accessorize with jewelry.

The ice cream maker has become a staple on my kitchen worktop in 2026. I didn't have that on my bingo card for this year, but after testing three ice cream makers, it seems I am somewhat of an expert. The rise of the ice cream maker can definitely be put down to the Ninja CREAMi, a product that went viral for being both convenient and healthy. And then came similar models, handheld models and even larger machines, including those that can actually freeze ingredients, sometimes within 30 minutes.

I've been testing two ice cream makers side by side to compare the results and choose a machine I prefer. The Ninja CREAMi Deluxe is a larger, updated version of the classic Ninja CREAMi, and this is a pre-freeze ice cream maker, which means that you need to pre-freeze the ingredients in a special tub. The machine will churn your ingredients into ice cream. The Cuisinart 6-in-1 Slushy & Soft Serve Maker has a refrigerant inside, meaning it can freeze your ingredients from cold, no pre-freezing required.

Here's how to know which of these machines is best for you and your household if you're considering investing in one this summer. Let me just say: both of these machines are multi-purpose, so they can make more than just ice cream and soft serve; they're also great for creating slushies, frozen coffees and even frozen cocktails.

There are good and bad things about both of these products, but let's start with how much they'll cost you. The MSRP of the Cuisinart maker is $329.95. The Ninja one retails at $249.99. Do check prices before you make your decision, though, especially if price will play a huge deciding factor, as both can often be found on sale.

Now onto size. These machines are roughly the same size, with the only huge difference being their height. The Ninja CREAMi is smaller in height than the Cuisinart model, and thanks to this, it fits underneath my kitchen cabinets. The Cuisinart model does not, which limits where I can place it on my countertop.

Next up, the design. The Cuisinart model is definitely the more aesthetically pleasing appliance out of the two, as it comes in white. The Ninja CREAMi Deluxe only comes in gray. Both are easy to control and fairly intuitive, but the Ninja CREAMi has a countdown timer so that you know exactly when your sweet treat will be ready. The Cuisinart model doesn't; instead, there is a flashing bar showing how far into its job it is, but there's no way to get an exact time frame.

When it comes to portion sizes, the Cuisinart 6-in-1 can make 1.7qt of soft serve or slushie in a single use. The Ninja CREAMi Deluxe comes with two containers, each one 24oz. While it's difficult to compare these two measurements, I will say that the Cuisinart model claims to serve up to 10 people. I never managed to get 10 portions out of it, but this hugely depends on what you're making.

The Ninja CREAMi 24oz container serves six, and you get two of these containers included in the box. Portion-wise, it depends on what you're serving, but I'd say that the manual was pretty spot-on with estimates. Bearing in mind that two tubs are included, you could serve a large group if you churn one portion after another.

In terms of program choice, there are 11 to choose from on the Ninja machine and they are: Ice Cream, Lite Ice Cream, Sorbet, Gelato, Frozen Yogurt, Creamiccino, Frozen Drink, Slushi, Milkshake and Italian Ice. In the Cuisinart 6-in-1 model, there are six programs: Slushy, Sorbet, Wine, Frappe, Cocktails and Soft Serve.

Let's move on to cleaning. The Ninja CREAMi Deluxe is pretty easy to clean as its containers are dishwasher safe. Other than this, you only need to give the body of the machine a wipe down if it's messy. The lid will also need cleaning, including the blade, but this is simple. The Cuisinart model has a self-clean mode, which is very handy, but you do still need to take the machine apart to clean it after each use. The auger is the only dishwasher-safe part of this machine.

How Did They Perform?

The Cuisinart 6-in-1 Slushy and Soft Serve Maker is a great idea if you're forever pressed for time, as it requires zero preparation other than mixing a few ingredients, but it doesn't quite freeze ingredients like the Ninja CREAMi Deluxe can. It only makes soft serve, and it is soft—you've been told! The other programs are great, too, including the slushie and frozen cocktail modes.

Cleaning it isn't hugely difficult, but it's admittedly harder if you make soft serve or sorbet than if you make a frozen drink. Its manual only came with a handful of recipes, which is just something to bear in mind if you don't fancy pushing the boat out with your own recipe.

The Ninja CREAMi Deluxe is great if you want something to make scoopable ice cream. It does not make soft serve. It's also great for making frozen drinks, in particular, frozen coffee.

The only downside to this machine is that it requires a little prep: your mixture needs to be pre-frozen for at least 24 hours. So, you can't use it to make ice cream on a whim. The manual for the Ninja did come with heaps of recipes, though, so you can really customize your desserts. Cleaning is incredibly simple, as the containers are both dishwasher safe.

The Final Verdict

The Cuisinart 6-in-1 Slushie and Soft Serve Maker definitely gets top marks for design and ease of use. The lack of prep that's required is a huge win. Saying that, I've personally decided to keep the Ninja CREAMi in my kitchen, as I preferred the final result of the ice cream made in this machine. I prefer scoopable ice cream to soft serve, and the maintenance is important to me — the Ninja model requires little cleaning. I also love that it tells you exactly how long it takes to churn, so you can prepare everything else you need, like cones and mix-ins, right on time.
