'Days of Our Lives' Promo Teases Medical Crisis for Holly and Mystery DiMera Key

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 7:22pm

An unexpected kiss cam at a baseball game causes drama, while more questions are raised surrounding the legitimacy of E.J. DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) magic drug, which is set to cause drama on Days of Our Lives.

The official Days of Our Lives YouTube channel posted a promo for the week of June 15, 2026.

The promo opened up with E.J. and Cat Greene (Annalynne McCord) watching the Chicago Cubs baseball game when the camera cuts to Chad DiMera (Connor Floyd) kissing Belle Black (Martha Madison), shocking E.J.

NEW YORK CITY - DECEMBER 12: "One Angry Woman" Elsbeth finally makes it as a true New Yorker when she is summoned to jury duty and lands on a murder trial where she faces off with the unusually difficult Judge Milton Crawford (Michael Emerson) who will prove a formidable adversary, on the CBS original series ELSBETH, Thursday, Dec. 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) is shocked to learn that Juneteenth is Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Paulina Price Carver's (Jackée Harry) wedding anniversary.

At the Brady pub, Theo Carver (Joseph Tyler Andrews) is messing with Stefano’s ‘gift’ to Marlena (Deidre Hall), a chess board, and uncovers a hidden key.

Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and Chanel DiMera (Raven Bowens) embrace.

Cat asks her brother Mark Greene (Jonah Robinson) if there is a problem with EJ’s drug. Mark denies anything is wrong but questions why Cat would suspect there was.

At the Horton cabin, Tate Black (Leo Howard), Holly Jonas, Aaron Green (Louis Tomeo), and Arianna Horton (Vico Escorcia) are celebrating summer.

Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) reads an article about DiMera to Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey).

The promo then shows quick shots of E.J. confronting his sister Kristen Blake (Stacy Haiduk) and Holly passing out in Tate’s arms.

Fans React

Days of Our Lives fans quickly took to the comment section to share their reaction to all of the drama.

One fan wrote, “If Belle and Chad want to make EJ and Cat, that's fine, but they shouldn't get Thomas and Charlotte's hopes up if they aren't going to be in a serious relationship.”

A second fan shared, “Thrilling, oh boy, EJ knows what Kristen did.”

While a third fan questioned, “Why would you have someone who was a drug addict investigating anything to do with drugs? Dumb.”

Days of Our Lives streams weekdays on Peacock.

Tarek and Heather El Moussa Break Silence After Shocking Home Burglary

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 7:18pm

After a brief social media hiatus, Tarek and Heather El Moussa broke their silence, addressing the burglary at their home.

While the couple was on vacation, their Newport Beach home was burglarized. Police responded to a call Monday evening, and several high-value items were reportedly stolen, according to TMZ.

The couple shared a statement, writing:

"Our home has always been our sanctuary, the place where Tarek and I raise and protect our babies, love our family, and find peace. Having that space violated has been deeply unsettling, but we are profoundly grateful that our family is safe. While material things can be replaced, our hearts are broken over the irreplaceable family heirlooms and special memories that were taken from us. We are taking every precaution to protect our home moving forward, and we are grateful to law enforcement for their swift response and diligent work. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and support. Your kindness means more than we can say as we work to restore peace to our home."

View this post on Instagram

Before TMZ's report, Heather posted a cryptic statement on Instagram, which Tarek shared. She wrote that they were “disgusted by some of the cruel, heartless people in the world. Tarek and I feel violated and to be honest really sad. Taking a break for a few days and will [be] back to explain soon. We are safe and the kids are safe.”

Tarek and Heather have been married for more than four years and share a son, Tristan. Tarek is also the father to two children, Taylor and Brayden, with his ex-wife, Christina Haack. Despite their divorce, Tarek and Christina have maintained an amicable relationship, even teaming up with Heather for the HGTV competition series The Flip Off. Meanwhile, Heather recently revealed that she will be returning to the Netflix reality series Selling Sunset.

Iconic ‘Today’ Movie Critic Gene Shalit Dies at 100

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 6:44pm

Legendary movie critic Gene Shalit died on Friday, June 12, at the age of 100. Shalit’s family told NBC News that he “passed away peacefully today after 100 years of an amazing life.”

The native New Yorker was born on March 25, 1926. He moved to Newark, New Jersey, and, in 1932, to Morristown, New Jersey. Shalit began his decades-long career in journalism in Morristown, founding the grammar school’s first newspaper. He later wrote for the high school’s humor column. But that wasn’t his last stint in comedy. While attending the University of Illinois, the would-be future movie critic was the sports editor and humor columnist for The Daily Illini

Known for his iconic mustache and colorful bow ties, Shalit joined the Today Show as a part-time contributor in 1970. By 1973, he became a show staple, transitioning into a full-time on-air role. Prior to Today, Shalit was the senior film critic for Look Magazine and wrote the ‘What’s Happening’ page for Ladies Home Journal. Along with reviewing blockbusters on Today’s ‘Critic’s Corner,’ he also contributed articles to top publications, including TV Guide, Glamour, The New York Times, and McCall’s.

Even though Shalit was well-known as the ‘punny’ critic whose Today career spanned decades, he was also an accomplished musician. The bassoonist performed in Lincoln Center and with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Boston’s Symphony Hall and Tanglewood.

Shalit retired from Today in 2010 at the age of 85, after over 40 years on the air. In his usual candor, Shalit said of his retirement (via a statement released by his publicist), “It’s enough already.”

TheToday family celebrated Shalit’s 100th birthday last March with a mini-retrospective of his time on the show.Al Rokersaid, “Gene, a prominent presence here at Today for 41 years…He reviewed films, plays, books, so much more.” Also noting, “Gene could pull out from people so much that they would, to the point where Gene actually lost it, almost…Even Sophia Loren couldn’t resist putting her hands into Gene’s hair, you know? I mean just a legend.”

The iconic film reviewer was married to Nancy Lewis from 1950 until her death from cancer in 1978. They shared six children together: Willa, Amanda, Emily, Peter, Nevin, and Andrew. Daughter Emily passed away from cancer in 2012. Shalit is also survived by his five grandchildren.

11 Years Ago Today, This '90s Rock Star Did the Unthinkable After Breaking His Leg On Stage

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 6:41pm

Dave Grohl has played plenty of memorable concerts over the years, but one show in Sweden tops his list.

During Foo Fighters'Friday, June 12 show at Strawberry Arena in Solna, Sweden, the frontman paused to reflect on one of the most memorable nights of the band's career: the day he fell off a stage, broke his leg, and came back later in the set to finish the show anyway (in the same country, by the way).

The original incident took place on June 12, 2015, during the second song of Foo Fighters' set at Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium. While performing "Monkey Wrench," Grohl took a tumble off the stage, suffering a broken leg that would eventually derail several major tour plans, including the band's highly anticipated headline slot at Glastonbury.

But after briefly leaving the stage to receive medical attention and have his leg stabilized at the hospital, the rocker returned to perform the remainder of the concert. "Right now, I'm gonna go to the hospital. I'm gonna fix my leg. But then I'm gonna come back, and we're gonna play for you again," he said in a video of the incident.

Reflecting on the moment exactly 11 years later in a fan video shared to YouTube, the 57-year-old told the Swedish crowd, "I fell off the stage and I broke my f**king leg. That was 11 years ago today. Same day! How f**king weird is that. Coincidence? I don't think so!"

The musician went on to explain why that particular concert still holds a special place in his heart. "So, tonight," he continued, "I'm gonna sing this song real f**king hard, because honestly, I think it was my favorite Foo Fighters show we've ever had in our f**king lives. Because we kept playing, we finished that f**king show for you. So we'll sing this song for you." The group then broke into their hit “Walk.”

It’s been a particularly strong season for the band. Just last month, Foo Fighters took the stage at Welcome to Rockville in Florida, delivering a nostalgic set that included newer tracks from Your Favorite Toy. After weather delays threatened to derail the evening, Grohl thanked concertgoers for sticking around. "We played shows before where the weather f**ked it up, and everyone goes back to their cars and they wait it out," he told the crowd. "And I sit here, and I think about it, and I'm like, 'I wonder if they'll all come back,' …and I'm so f**king happy you guys came back."

That performance came shortly after Your Favorite Toy became the band's eighth No. 1 album on Billboard's Top Hard Rock Albums chart.

Oscar-Winner’s WWII Thriller Quietly Becomes the Must-See Movie of the Summer

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 6:37pm

Following his Oscar win for The Whale, Brendon Fraser’s career renaissance has only swelled. From Killers of the Flower Moon, to Rental Family, to now Pressure, the 57-year-old actor is killing the game. Not so much with blockbusters or bloated action flicks but with thoughtful, refined, and deftly handed cinema.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Pressure, the latest from Focus Features, is a drama thriller that homes in the fraught 72 hours before D-Day. Directed by Anthony Maras (Hotel Mumbai), the film stars Fraser as General Dwight D. Eisenhower opposite Andrew Scott (1984, Spectre) as Captain James Stagg, a Scottish meteorologist, and focuses on the high-stakes weather forecasting leading up to the invasion.

“It’s the story of Andrew Scott’s character, standing in the stream like a boulder and knowing the future and that it is bad news, and he must convince immutable individuals, right if they ignore him, it’s at everyone’s peril,” Fraser told Variety, “and he is but a lowly nerdy biologist meteorologist, and as a non-commissioned officer, he was kicked upstairs.”

With the fate of the war on their shoulders, the two must decide whether to unleash history’s largest, most dangerous seaborne invasion — or delay and risk losing everything. Rounding out the cast are Kerry Condon, Damian Lewis, Chris Messina, and Tamsin Topolski.

Now released in theaters nationwide, the film is quietly becoming the sleeper hit of the season. According to Collider, Pressure is breathing down the necks of the war films that have come before it, challenging their numbers at the box office.

“With $11 million in the bank, Pressure is poised to surpass the $14 million domestic haul of Nuremberg, starring Russell Crowe and Rami Malek,” the outlet writes. “In 10 days, the movie has quadrupled the domestic box-office haul of the 2016 WWII film Anthropoid, starring Cillian Murphy as one of the real-life Czech soldiers who executed an assassination plot against a high-ranking Nazi official.”

Holding strong at No. 9 in the domestic Top 10, Pressure is being mentioned in the same breath as current box office heavyweights like Scary Movie, Backrooms, and Masters of the Universe. The film also boasts a Rotten Tomatoes score of 86% from critics and a 95% from audiences. So, go ahead and book a ticket. Consider it mission orders.

Pressure is now playing at theaters nationwide.

Zambetti is a musician and works as an emergency room physician. He explained to PEOPLE that he picked an engagement ring with two main diamonds for a reason.

"I saw this one ring that really spoke to me," Zambetti said. "Because it had two stones in it. I mean, normally an engagement ring would be one stone, but I like the fact that it had two stones, and they had a little pavé path leading up to each stone."

Iconic '90s Rock Band Releases 25th Anniversary Album

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 6:03pm

blink-182 has exciting news for their OG fans.

The iconic rock band that grew to fame in the 1990s and early 2000s released the 25th anniversary edition of their 2001 album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, to digital streaming services on Friday, celebrating 25 years of one of the group's most popular albums. In addition, blink-182 included six new bonus tracks on the anniversary edition album and exclusive merch on their website to celebrate the occasion.

View the original article to see embedded media.

Formed in 1992 in Poway, California, by Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, Travis Barker and Scott Raynor, blink-182 first gained popularity in the Southern California skate punk scene and were known for their high-energy live shows and humor. After years of recording and releasing albums independently, blink-182 signed with MCA Records, and released their first and fourth albums, Enema of the State (1999) and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001), which include their top singles like "All the Small Things," "First Date," "Dammit" and "What's My Age Again?," which all became hit songs and staples on MTV.

Since their debut, blink-182 has released nine studio albums, with their most recent being One More Time... in 2023. They have also been on multiple headlining tours since 1998, and were recently on their Missionary Impossible Tour last year.

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket is blink-182's fourth studio record, which was released on June 12, 2001. The album was mostly produced by longtime collaborator Jerry Finn and was recorded in his studio in San Diego. It reflected the band's transition from indie to industry demands, with MCA Records pushing blink-182 to meet their deadlines and expectations.

Originally with 13 tracks, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket became a modern rock success the moment it was released, becoming the first punk record to hit No. 1 in the United States. Selling 14 million copies worldwide, the album produced three hit singles: "The Rock Show, "Stay Together For The Kids" and "First Date." To support the album, they co-headlined the Pop Disaster Tour with Green Day and went on their own headlining tour during the summer of 2001.

In an interview with MTV, Hoppus revealed the story behind the silly album title. He revealed that their technician, Larry Palm, pitched it, and they thought it was so funny, so they used it. The bassist and lead singer also teased the cover art for the record.

"The cover art demonstrates it in a pretty straightforward way, not in a phallic way, but in the literal meaning of it," he explained. The album cover consists of three icons: one red circle with an airplane, a yellow circle with a drawing of a pair of pants, and a green circle with a jacket.

Despite its success, neither blink-182 nor the album received any accolades from the Grammy Awards. It wasn't until 2017 that blink-182 was nominated for Best Rock Album for their seventh studio album, California. The award ended up going to Cage the Elephant for Tell Me I'm Pretty.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, fans have been speculating that the group may go on tour soon. As of Friday, blink-182 has not confirmed or denied the rumors.

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (25 Year Anniversary Edition) is out now on all streaming platforms. Exclusive merchandise and CDs can be purchased on blink-182's official website.

1970 Rock Classic, Lasting Nearly 24 Minutes, Became a Breakthrough Anthem

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 5:31pm

Fifty-six years ago, the legendary '70s rock band Pink Floyd released "Atom Heart Mother," a song that was so long it took up the entire first side of its parent album and so iconic that it continues to maintain its relevance.

Released in October 1970 as the title track of their fifth studio album, "Atom Heart Mother" generated immediate traction for its sheer length. Spanning over 23 minutes long, the opening track took up the entire front side of the record's pressing, flabbergasting listeners. The song marked the first time Pink Floyd had created a song long enough to require that much space on a vinyl record, arriving just a year before their 1971 epic "Echoes," which took up the second side of their album Meddle.

While "Atom Heart Mother" never charted due to it not being a single, its parent album experienced significant chart success. The record peaked at No. 1 on the U.K. Albums chart reached the No. 55 spot on the U.S. Billboard 200. This milestone served as Pink Floyd's commercial breakthrough, earning them their first number-one album and widespread mainstream acclaim.

"Atom Heart Mother" was not only ambitious for its 23-minutes and 44-second runtime, but also for its unrivaled crossover sound. Produced by the band themselves through Harvest and Capitol Records, the track is notable for its beautiful fusion of progressive rock and experimental classical music.

Throughout its duration, the song shifts between six distinct movements, utilizing unique orchestral elements to represent different sections, including a full brass choir and avant-garde vocal arrangements. This unconventional structure allowed the band to push the boundaries of traditional rock music, resulting in a sonically cinematic journey.

Over five decades since its initial release, "Atom Heart Mother" is still critically recognized as a monumental song for not only Pink Floyd's legacy but progressive rock's history. The track remains highly popular in the modern digital era, racking in 14.5 million streams on Spotify alone.

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 5:16pm

World Cup 2026 coverage continues, and there was an unfiltered moment that has people shocked.James Corden promoted After Hours with James Corden, and a panel reacted to him. Alexi Lalas then said a British insult that wouldn't fly on their televisions, but doesn't have much precedent in America.

Lalas, 56, Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimović, and Rebecca Lowe acted as Fox pundits on June 12. "Can we talk about James Corden for a second?" British sports anchor Lowe, 45, asked them.

"Oh, what do you guys call him? A full-kit w----, right?" Lalas asked. The insult wasn't censored on American television. But Henry looked at the camera, shocked, and his jaw dropped. Lowe's jaw also dropped, and Ibrahimović said, "Whoa."

"He's all dressed up and ready to go," Lalas continued in reference to Corden dressed like he'll be playing the sport.

"OK, lucky we're on American television," Lowe responded. "Because the W word on British TV."

Corden previously filmed a promo for the World Cup in Georgia pretending to train with USA's team. He talked to Coach Mauricio Pochettino about his sneaky sideline techniques to talk about strategy during the game.

The talk show host later showed his moves on the field with the team. It ended with him stretching with USMNT Forward Christian Pulisic.

The new show premieres on June 11 after each day's games during the World Cup on FOX. Each episode will be an hour long starting at midnight ET. Corden, former England soccer captain Rio Ferdinand, and comedian Ian Karmel will discuss each day's games.

Netflix Quietly Sets Return for Hit Drama, With a 98% Rotten Tomatoes Rating, Nearly 3 Years Later

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 5:09pm

Netflix is officially bringing back a fan-favorite heist drama after a three-year hiatus.

The long wait is almost over, as Lupin Part 4 has finally secured a premiere date.

The streaming giant announced the global phenomenon will return later this fall, after wrapping up season 3 in October 2023.

The fourth season of the series, inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin, will premiere three years after the last season’s finale, on Oct. 23, 2026.

The new season of the French-language crime drama continues the saga, as OmarSy reprises the role of gentleman thief Assane Diop for an eight-episode run.

As of writing, a plot has not been revealed.

"A retelling of the classic French story about Arsène Lupin, the world-famous gentleman thief and master of disguise," the synopsis for the series reads.

Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger as Assane—who stole the Black Pearl, won over the French public, and faked his death—pulled off a series of high-stakes heists to protect his wife, son, mother, and best friend. Ultimately, he decided the only way to truly keep them safe was to sacrifice his freedom, turning himself in to the police and ending up behind bars, though likely not for long.

The character Arsène Lupin was created by Maurice Leblanc in the early 20th century, with the series, which initially premiered in 2021, landing as a massive hit for Netflix.

It went on to become one of Netflix’s most-watched non-English shows ever, ranking in the top 10 globally across dozens of countries, including the U.S.

Per Netflix, the first three parts ranked in the third, sixth, and tenth places, respectively, in the historical rankings in the history of non-English productions.

It also helped boost global interest in French-language content.

Fans enjoyed the fast-paced and twisty storytelling, with the series holding a steady 98% Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer score to this day.

In addition to Sy, the series will also see the return of Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard.

'90s Indie Rock Band Announces Special Guests for 2026 Tour

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 4:55pm

The Charlatans announced some exciting news on Friday.

The UK-based indie rock group revealed on Instagram that Mercury Rev will be joining them for The Charlatans' two Southern California shows as their opening acts on Sept. 3 and Sept. 4 at Santa Ana's The Observatory and the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, respectively. The Dandy Warhols will also be performing.

The rest of the tour, which takes place across the United States in September, will not have a supporting act. The Charlatans will kick off the lineup of shows on Sept. 3, then finish their run at Brooklyn Steel in New York City on Sept. 26. They are also expected to make stops in San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Vancouver, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and more. The entire tour was originally announced in late April.

"We’re excited to announce @themercuryrev will join us in Santa Ana & Los Angeles as very special guests along with @thedandywarhols," the band wrote as their caption. "Get your tickets now from thecharlatans.net link in bio."

Formed in 1988 by Martin Blunt, Tim Burgess, Jon Brookes, Rob Collins, Jon Baker and Baz Ketley, The Charlatans are an English rock band with 13 studio albums, all of which charted in the Top 40 in the UK Albums Chart, with three reaching No. 1. Their top songs include "The Only One I Know" and "One to Another."

When The Charlatans announced their US tour to support their recent album, We Are Love, which was released last Halloween, they expressed their excitement about coming back to North America.

"We’re excited to announce we’re coming back to North America, 16 dates this September, including two shows in California with very special guests The Dandy Warhols & More TBA," they wrote in their caption.

The Dandy Warhols are an American psychedelic and alternative-rock band formed in Portland in 1994. The EDM group is best known for their hit, "Bohemian Like You," which was a part of their 2000 album, Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia. Consisting of members Zia McCabe, Courtney Taylor-Taylor, Peter Homström and Brent DeBoer, The Dandy Warhols were already announced as the opening acts for The Charlatans' Santa Ana and Los Angeles shows.

The second opening act, Mercury Rev, is an American rock band that was formed in 1989 in Buffalo, New York. The group achieved widespread popularity in 1998 following the release of their fourth album, Deserter's Songs.

When it comes to touring, Mercury Rev's Jonathan Donahie and Sean "Grasshopper" Mackowiak view it as deeply grounding. The band, which has been on the road supporting their most recent album, Born Horses, has spoken to multiple outlets about tour life, saying that it makes Donahie feel "wistful."

“We were just in Buffalo, and you see new skyscrapers – just as you might wherever you live,” said Donahue to Matter News in April 2025. "It's more that you’re seeing these glass and steel tombstones rising up over the grave of a place that might have been something sensitive to you 30 years ago, whether it was an old club you played, or an apartment you lived in at one time."

A fan who attended their Chicago show on April 22, 2025, wrote for Bearded Gentlemen Music, describing the venue and energy as "packed, steamy and electric."

"The shimmering melodies floated through the space like a final blessing, and the crowd stood frozen, eyes fixed on the stage, absorbing every last note. It was a moment of collective stillness, rare and beautiful," Oscar De Leon wrote in his concert review. "With decades behind them, Mercury Rev proved that their music still holds a rare kind of magic. It’s timeless, transportive, and utterly their own. This wasn’t just a concert. It was a reminder of the quiet power of a band that continues to evolve while staying true to its singular, dreamlike vision."

Mercury Dev and The Dandy Warhols will be joining The Charlatans at their Santa Ana and Los Angeles shows on Sept. 3 and Sept 4, respectively. Tickets are available for purchase on The Charlatans' official website.

Iconic '70s Rock Band Releases New Music 59 Years After Debut

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 4:46pm

Nearly 60 years after first emerging on the British rock scene, Jethro Tull is once again giving fans something new to hear.

The legendary group has announced a newly expanded and remixed reissue of J-Tull Dot Com, its 1999 studio album, complete with fresh mixes, additional material and previously unavailable recordings. The release marks the latest chapter in Jethro Tull's ongoing archival series, which has revisited and expanded many of the band's classic albums in recent years.

Originally released in 1999, J-Tull Dot Com arrived during a period when the internet was rapidly changing the music industry. The album's title reflected that transition, while the music continued the distinctive blend of rock, folk and progressive influences that had defined the band's sound for decades.

The newly announced edition features remixes overseen by renowned producer and engineer Steven Wilson, whose work on classic progressive rock reissues has earned widespread praise from fans and critics alike. In addition to the updated audio, the expanded collection includes bonus material designed to offer a deeper look into the album’s creation.

The reissue goes well beyond a standard remaster. J-Tull Dot Com: Another Cast of the Net will be released as a limited 3CD/Blu-ray package featuring the original album, newly created 2026 remixes and a bonus disc packed with rarities, including six never-before-heard studio recordings and three live performances from the band’s 2000 tour. The set also includes Dolby Atmos and surround-sound mixes, plus a 36-page booklet filled with archival photos and detailed liner notes chronicling the album's history.

The announcement also serves as a reminder of the remarkable longevity of Jethro Tull.

Formed in 1967 by frontman Ian Anderson, the band became one of the most distinctive acts of the classic rock era thanks to Anderson's flute playing and unconventional songwriting. Throughout the 1970s, Jethro Tull released a string of influential albums, including Aqualung, Thick as a Brick and Songs from the Wood, helping establish the group as one of progressive rock's most successful and innovative bands.

"Well, Thick as a Brick is a sort of an amusing thing because it was a response to the critics who saw Aqualung as being some kind of concept album," frontman Ian Anderson said in a 1993 interview. "So we tongue in cheek and with good humor, delivered duly a concept album which was deliberately overblown with kind of a crazy way over the top almost Monty Python-esque parody of what a concept album is supposed to be."

The band's debut album, "This Was," arrived in 1968, making the new release particularly noteworthy nearly 59 years after the group’s formation. While many classic rock acts focus solely on nostalgia, Jethro Tull has remained unusually active. The band has continued releasing new material in recent years, including albums such as The Zealot Gene and RökFlöte, proving that Anderson's creative ambitions remain intact.

For longtime fans, however, the expanded J-Tull Dot Com release offers a chance to revisit a lesser-known chapter of the band’s history through a modern lens.

Nearly six decades after Jethro Tull first appeared, the band's music continues to evolve—demonstrating why one of rock’s most distinctive voices remains relevant all these years later.

Dave Ramsey’s Golden Rule for Shopping at Costco Will Save You Money

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 4:44pm

Dave Ramsey, host of The Ramsey Show, has some strong opinions about your favorite wholesale store, Costco. You head in for the $5 chickens and bulk eggs and walk out with your wallet $200 lighter. This isn’t uncommon, but Ramsey has some great advice on how to avoid overspending at the popular chain.

Related: We Ran the Numbers on Dave Ramsey's $1 Million Car Warning — He Was Actually Too Conservative

Ramsey’s Core Rule

For Costco shopping, Ramsey has one core rule. You need to ask yourself, “Does it last? Do I use it?” These two questions can help you evaluate whether or not to put that item in your cart. For instance, a large family may find bulk shopping at Costco effective because they’ll eat everything before it has an opportunity to spoil.

For small families, empty nesters, retirees, and others in similar situations, Costco might be wasting money. If you’re purchasing 2 lbs of grapes and throwing half of them away, the better option may have been to buy a smaller portion at your local grocery store.

If bulk buying is going to be cost-saving, you need to consider if the item will last. You’ll also need to think about if you’ll really use it. A 50-pack of protein bars may work well for a small cafe but could gather dust in your cupboard.

The Mistake Most Shoppers Make

Costco’s membership fee often makes people feel like they need to stock up to get their money’s worth. While bulk shopping can feel like a bargain, the per-unit cost isn’t always the cheapest. Ramsey suggests using simple math to evaluate if you’re getting the best price.

Look at the price of the item you want and then divide it by how many portions, or units, are in the package. For instance, imagine a 30oz bag of potato chips at Costco goes for around $7.99, give or take taxes and location. In the same city, a 14oz bag of the same chips costs $5.23 at another store.

The Costco bag of chips costs about $.27 per ounce. The 14oz bag costs $.37 per ounce at the other store. In this instance, the Costco purchase is worth it, but only if you’re going to eat the entire bag. If you throw half of it out, you’ve wasted money.

Remember To Check

Ramsey wants to remind you that bulk buying is only worth it if it’s done intentionally. Costco can be money-saving, but don’t get distracted. If you’re going to shop wholesale, make sure you remember Ramsey’s two questions. If the answer to both isn’t “yes,” then put it back.

1973 Soft Rock Hit, Written After a Brutal Beach Attack, Became a Timeless Summer Anthem

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 4:38pm

In June 1973, King Harvest took the stage on The Midnight Special and delivered a legendary performance of their smash hit, “Dancing in the Moonlight.”

The foursome’s infectious groove, shimmering electric keyboards, and feel-good harmonies perfectly captured the golden era of 1970s soft rock. But few watching at home — or swaying in the studio audience — could have known that the song’s carefree spirit was born from a traumatic beachside assault that left its writer hospitalized.

In a 2018 interview, via American Songwriter, keyboardist Sherman Kelly shared the horrific tale. Prefacing the story, he said he and his girlfriend got seasick on their boat trip to the island of St. Croix. Thankful to be ashore, they decided to sleep on the beach rather than on the boat to avoid further illness. Shockingly, they were later awoken by a gang of violent attackers.

“I remember being hit really hard, and five guys were attacking us with baseball bats,” he said, adding that he thought his girlfriend was going to be sexually assaulted and killed.

Fortunately, the pair survived, and while Kelly was recovering from the brutal attack, he wrote “Dancing in the Moonlight” with lyrics inspired by an “alternate reality” as a dream of peace and joy.

One of the most feel-good songs of all time, the track was originally recorded in the late ’60s by Kelly’s band Boffalongo, with Kelly on vocals and his brother, Wells Kelly, on the drums. It was included on their debut album, Beyond Your Head. The song didn’t catch lightning, though, until it was introduced to another band.

Founded in 1969, King Harvestformed while its core four  — Dave “Doc” Robinson, Ron Altbach, Ed Tuleja, and Rod Novak — were attending Cornell University. Following a brief breakup in 1971, the group reformed in Paris, France, where Wells Kelly joined. It’s around this time when the drummer brought the band his brother’s song.

Once the track took hold, peaking at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, King Harvest relocated to Olcott, New York, where Sherman got on board and helped the track further become a global phenomenon. The glory was short-lived, though: The band called it quits in 1976. They reunited for another brief effort, from 2012 to 2016, but today, King Harvest is no more.

That said, there is still dancing. And there will forever be moonlight. Thanks to a resurgence on screens big and small, with “Dancing in the Moonlight” featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy video game, Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, and Riz Ahmed's brilliantly dark, satirical indie comedy Four Lions, the soft rock band’s signature track continues to win over new generations of listeners.

Covers by Young Generation, Baha Men, and Toploader have only helped cement its status as one of pop-rock’s most enduring feel-good summer anthems.

For a song inspired by one of the darkest moments of a man’s life, "Dancing in the Moonlight" has spent the last half-century doing the exact opposite: giving listeners a reason to smile.

1979 Eagles Classic, Ranked One of Their Greatest Songs, Was Written by the Newest Member of the Band

Fri, 06/12/2026 - 4:19pm

Many people have experienced a relationship they know isn't working, yet they still can't find a way to walk away from it. That's what makes "I Can't Tell You Why" one of the Eagles' most emotionally relatable songs. What many fans don't realize, however, is that this beloved Eagles song wasn't introduced by Don Henley or Glenn Frey but by the band's newest member.

In 1977, Timothy B. Schmit stepped in to replace one of the Eagles' founding members Randy Meisner on bass guitar and vocals.

"When I first started getting together with Don and Glenn for what would become my first Eagles' album," recalled Schmit on the Follow Your Dream podcast with Robert Miller, "they wanted to hear what I had because they wanted me to sing at least one lead. The new guy. They wanted the new guy to sing, but ... we needed a great song."

Related: 1979 Love Ballad, Written in Just 45 Minutes, Became a Timeless Anthem of Hope

Schmit said "I Can't Tell You Why" was just "a piece of song" at the point when he shared it with Henley and Frey. He remembered they "really lit up" when they heard it and told him the three of them could finish the song altogether. "I was really happy that it wasn’t a country rock song. I was glad that it was more R&B flavored," he added, saying he was listening to a lot of Motown at that time.

"We were influenced by Al Green," Henley explained in a 2016 interview with Musician. "'I Can't Tell You Why' is straight Al Green, 'cause Glenn was a big R&B freak. He's from Detroit, and he grew up with all that stuff."

The smooth soft rock vibe of "I Can't Tell You Why" coupled with the R&B influence showed off a softer, more vulnerable side for the Eagles, too. Add to that, Schmit's soulful lead vocals, and this song really stood out among the other classics in the band's catalog.

The lyrics and the story behind them resonated with so many fans as well. The song captured the relatable push-pull of a troubled relationship. It captured that tough emotional space of loving someone despite there being ongoing problems. "Every time I try to walk away / Something makes me turn around and stay," Schmit sings, "And I can't tell you why."

Not only did the "new guy" help inspire and co-write one of the Eagles' most enduring ballads, but he brought a freshness to band's sound. The iconic hit was the first lead vocal to be completed on their sixth studio album The Long Run, which released in September 1979. "I Can't Tell You Why" was released as the third single from that album in early February 1980. By the end of February, the track debuted on the Billboard charts, and by mid-April, it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary and No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Almost five decades later, the song continues to sustain popularity on radio stations, and it has more than 158 million streams just on Spotify, to date. In recent published rankings, the soulful groove hit was included in the Top 15 Eagles song lists by both Billboard (No. 6) and Gold Radio (No. 7), and fans on Ranker have upvoted the hit to No. 11 on their list of all-time best Eagles songs. Modern country singer Vince Gill covered the song in 1993, and Canadian jazz singer and pianist Diana Krall did her own rendition in 2015.

"I Can't Tell You Why" was brought to the table by the new guy. It became the last Eagles top 10 hit—and the one most people never forget.
