This Popular Drink Could Be Clogging Your Arteries, a Cardiologist Warns

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 9:50am

Did you know that diseases linked to clogged arteries (also known as atherosclerosis) are the leading causes of death in the United States? It’s true. When plaque builds up in the arteries, it can lead to heart attacks, strokes and contribute to heart disease—all of which are among the top causes of death.

Maybe you already know the basics of living a heart-healthy lifestyle. You know it’s important to move your body as much as you can. (The American Heart Association recommends aiming for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise a week.) You know to minimize red meat and get your protein primarily from plant-based sources. And you know to go easy on the salt.

Thinking about how what you eat can affect your cardiovascular health, including your arteries, is important, but it’s also vital to think about what you drink. Humans are creatures of habit. There’s a good chance that you drink the same beverages every day, such as coffee every morning or sparkling water every day at lunch.

There’s one popular drink in particular that many people don’t realize negatively impacts arteries.

Related: Clogged Arteries Can Play a Significant Role in Severe Heart Conditions—Here Are the Warning Signs to Look For

General Tips for Keeping Your Arteries Healthy

“The foundation of healthy arteries is actually pretty simple, even if putting it into practice isn't always easy,” Dr. Sirisha Vadali, MD, a non-invasive cardiologist specializing in heart-health prevention, tells Parade.

She adds that one way to keep your arteries strong and flexible is by exercising regularly. According to scientific research, the best type of exercise to support your arteries is a combination of regular aerobic exercise and resistance training. This combination helps with arterial stiffness (how flexible arteries are), endothelial function (how well blood vessels dilate) and blood flow regulation.

When it comes to supporting your arteries through diet, Dr. Vadali recommends eating a wide range of minimally processed, nutrient-rich foods and minimizing ultra-processed foods. Additionally, she explains it’s important to maintain healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels, avoid tobacco, get adequate sleep, manage stress and maintain a healthy weight

“Small, sustainable habits practiced consistently over time can have a big impact on long-term cardiovascular health,” she says.

How To Know if You Have Healthy Arteries

Arteries are not like muscles: You can’t look in the mirror and tell what kind of shape they’re in. “Unfortunately, there isn't a simple way to tell if your arteries are healthy based on how you feel, either,” Dr. Vadali says, adding that plaque can build up silently for years before causing symptoms.

So, how do you know how healthy your arteries are? Get your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels checked. If any of these numbers are outside a healthy range, it’s an indicator that you could likely benefit from making some diet and lifestyle changes (and potentially take a prescription medication), to not only turn your numbers around, but also support your arteries.

Additionally, if you have a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, it’s important to let your doctor know.

“Depending on someone's individual risk factors, their doctor may also recommend additional testing to look for early signs of plaque buildup,” Dr. Vadali explains.

The Popular Drink That Can Clog Arteries

Everything we put into our bodies impacts our health, for better or for worse. That includes what we drink. One popular drink that Dr. Vadali says can negatively affect artery health when consumed regularly is sugar-sweetened tea. Often, this type of drink has just as much added sugar as soda.

Thought it was just salt that negatively impacts arteries? Consuming excessive amounts of added sugar can also. “[Sugary] drinks can contribute to weight gain, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, elevated triglycerides and chronic inflammation. Over time, those factors increase the risk of plaque building up in the arteries,” Dr. Vadali explains.

To this point, a 2025 meta-analysis published in Nutrition Journal found a strong association between a diet high in sugary beverages (such as soda and sugar-sweetened tea) and elevated risks of mortality and major cardiovascular outcomes, including hypertension, stroke, cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome.

Besides sugar-sweetened tea, Dr. Vadali says that energy drinks, flavored coffee drinks and fruit juices are other beverages that are often higher in added sugar than many people realize.

What should you drink instead? While nothing beats plain H20, simply opting for unsweetened tea is a great way to avoid the risks that come with drinking sugar-sweetened tea regularly.

“For people who exercise regularly, spend time outdoors in the heat, or lose a lot of fluid through sweat, electrolyte beverages can certainly have a place too. I just encourage people to read the label because many sports drinks and electrolyte products contain large amounts of added sugar. When possible, choose electrolyte drinks with little or no added sugar,” she tells Parade.

Supporting your arteries requires an overall healthy diet and lifestyle; it doesn’t just come down to one singular food or drink. “Staying active, eating a heart-healthy diet, managing stress, getting enough sleep and keeping up with your preventive care are where you see some of the biggest benefits. When those habits work together, they can make a big difference in your long-term heart health,” Dr. Vadali says.

Don’t underestimate the power of small, sustainable habits—including choosing unsweetened tea instead of sugar-sweetened tea. When done consistently, small habits like this truly can make a difference.

NY Times Names 2012 'Gone Girl' the 'Best Thriller of the 21st Century'

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 9:47am

In the grand scheme of things, there's nothing like settling down with a truly remarkable thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Whether cracking one open on a lengthy airline flight, by the beach or in your favorite armchair during a rainy weekend, a good thriller can draw you in and keep you guessing from its initial start up to its final conclusion.

Of course, a truly remarkable thriller is sometimes hard to come by, most especially when it comes to sifting through the numerous meh books lining shelves at retail stores like Barnes and Noble.

Fortunately, The New York Times has just released their list of the top 50 thrillers of the 21st century, featuring a comprehensive breakdown of some of the greatest suspense novels we've seen thus far in the 2000s.

At the very top of their list, The NY Times selected Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel, Gone Girl, as the best thriller of the century, complimenting the movie for its constant twists and methodical approach to the thriller genre.

"Flynn’s sly, trick-mirror tour de force begins as the fairly straightforward tale of a Missouri woman named Amy Dunne who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary. Could her husband, Nick, be responsible? After all, he’s moody, struggling financially, maybe even having an affair. But Amy’s diaries, which flash back to the couple’s former life in New York and the much rosier beginnings of their romance, reveal other complicating factors. (This story has so many sides, it’s practically a polyhedron.)," the outlet wrote of the book.

"The narrative, with its nimble switchbacks and misdirections, excels at building tension right up to the final thunderclap reveal," the newspaper continued. "But it’s Flynn’s stinging, whipsmart insights — let us all pause here to honor the iconic 'cool girl' monologue — that land Gone Girl its richly deserved spot in the modern pantheon."

Following close behind Flynn's 2012 novel were Dennis Lehane's Mystic River, Tana French's In the Woods, Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men.

According to Page Six, a call about a "suicide attempt" came in around 10:41 p.m. local time. Emergency personnel arrived at Hilton's home around 11 p.m. "Multiple units" responded to the "active police scene." According to the outlet, the dispatch audio "gave a detailed description of Hilton’s self harm attempts." The gruesome details of the call were not shared by the outlet.

"The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention," a statement from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office read, per the outlet. "The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family."

The blogger and media personality shocked fans when he appeared to engage in self-harm self-harm during a livestream video. Internet users watched in horror as Hilton was covered in blood and appeared to be cutting himself.

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls from concerned internet users who watched Hilton’s livestream and feared he was in danger. Deputies responded to the situation and welfare checks were conducted as officials worked to determine what had happened.

The incident quickly spread across social media, with many fans expressing concern for Hilton’s well-being and hoping he received the support and care he needed.

Hilton was reportedly alone in his home at the time of the livestream. He is a father of three children—Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8.

1973 'Sesame Street' Episode Featuring 'Two American Greats' Is Still One of TV's Greatest Cameos

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 9:33am

Johnny Cash is known for his legendary duets with wife June Carter Cash, but in 1973, the Man in Black visited Sesame Street for the first time in a performance that is remembered as one of TV's greatest celebrity cameos. The country icon showcased his playful side, serenading Oscar the Grouch before the two exchanged hilarious barbs. Cash even brought his then-3-year-old son, John Carter Cash, for a charming song about numbers. Johnny Cash may have been tough as nails on stage, but he was all smiles on Sesame Street.

Johnny Cash's 1973 appearance on Sesame Street helped pave the way for his long and memorable relationship with Jim Henson and the Muppets. During his first appearance, Cash debuted the song "Nasty Dan," which he sang to Oscar the Grouch. Oscar's iconic response, "Aren't you Johnny Trash?" remains one of the beloved Muppet's greatest one-liners.

Cash would later record the children's album The Johnny Cash Children's Album, which includes "Nasty Dan."

Cash's 1973 Sesame Street appearance also featured his then-3-year-old son, John Carter Cash. The singer adorably picked up his young son, placed him on his lap, and delighted in serenading the toddler with a song about numbers. A more welcoming collaborator than Oscar the Grouch, the younger Cash refrained from insulting his dad when the song was over.

The country star would go on to appear on Sesame Street a total of four times and also guest-starred on The Muppet Show, a reminder that behind Johnny Cash's cool on-stage persona was a playful father who delighted in exchanging snarky comments with a garbage-can-living monster while teaching his young son—and children watching at home—all about numbers.

Why Johnny Cash's Sesame Street Appearance Still Resonates

More than just a nostalgic walk down memory lane, Johnny Cash's appearance on Sesame Street is a reminder of the enduring power of television. For generations of children, the beloved series made learning about numbers, letters, and kindness both entertaining and memorable.

Just as importantly, Sesame Street gave audiences the chance to see a different side of some of entertainment's biggest stars.

"What a national treasure, both of them," commented one viewer after a clip from the episode was shared on social media.

Another added, "Two American greats."

"Johnny Cash makes me smile," shared another viewer, echoing the sentiments of many—even, though he'd never admit it, Oscar the Grouch.

'Animal House' Star Tim Matheson Reflects on John Belushi's Shocking Death at 33-Years-Old: 'He Was Just Such a Special Spirit'

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 9:18am

As any dedicated comedy fan is sure to tell you, John Belushi remains one of the most energetic comedic performers of the past century.

First making a name for himself on NBC's earliest iteration of Saturday Night Live, Belushi soon became a household name thanks to his manic outbursts, agile physical comedy and frequently unpredictable on- and off-screen personality.

Sadly, as skilled a performer as he was, Belushi's life was tragically cut short when he was just 33-years-old, with the actor passing away from a lethal drug cocktail of heroin and cocaine.

Reflecting on the SNL icon's loss over 40 years later, Belushi's Animal House co-star Tim Matheson fondly recalled his larger-than-life cast member on a recent episode of Still Here Hollywood Podcast with Steve Kmetko.

“I can’t say we were — or I was — surprised,” the 78-year-old Matheson said. “He seemed indestructible. He was so strong, and so physically strong, and powerful, and funny — and we all knew his weaknesses, but you just felt ... ‘No, you know, not like that.’"

At the time of Belushi's death, Matheson said he was working on a production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.

Matheson said that he was in Texas at the time, working on a theatrical production of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew.

“Somebody came backstage after the show and told me what happened and it was so sad and it’s such a loss, because a lot of people don’t know really who he was now,” the West Wing actor said. “He was just such a special spirit. You know um John Landis — the director of Animal House said he’s the Cookie Monster and Harpo Marx together, you know, that’s who he is.”

“It was such a treasure and a pleasure to know him and work with him," Matheson went on to add.

Another 'Arrowverse' Series Is Quietly Leaving Netflix

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 9:15am

The start of a new month allows us to look ahead at all the shows and movies getting ready to leave Netflix. Another Arrowverse series is getting ready to depart, as Black Lightning is on the list.

All four seasons are exiting the streaming platform in September. We’re getting closer to all of the shows from the iconic days of The CW leaving Netflix, which means looking around for the new platform — or platforms — they will be on.

When Is ‘Black Lightning’ Leaving Netflix?

Fans have until Aug. 31, 2026, to binge-watch all four seasons of the Cress Williams series. It’s departing at midnight on Sept. 1, 2026.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - JULY 20: (L-R) Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III, China Anne McClain and Cress Williams speak at the "Black Lightning" Special Video Presentation and Q&A during 2019 Comic-Con International at San Diego Convention Center on July 20, 2019 in San Diego, California. (Photo by Amy Sussman/Getty Images)

As with Arrow and other CW shows like Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, the quiet exit from the platform has nothing to do with quality. It’s due to the licensing agreement between The CW and Netflix from the pre-Nexstar days coming to an end. Each show was added to the streaming giant days after season finales aired, and then there was a strict time limit for how long it would remain once a show came to an end.

If you love the Arrowverse, it’s worth checking out Black Lightning. Williams’ titular character did crossover into the rest of the universe during The Flash Season 3 and then in The Flash Season 8, but this was minimal compared to all the other universe shows. It meant that it didn’t feel as integral to the rest of the universe, but it was an excellent series focusing on important social topics with a superhero element to it.

Get Ready for the Rest of the ‘Arrowverse’ To Leave Netflix

Black Lightning isn’t the last of the Arrowverse shows to depart Netflix. Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash remain on the streaming platform for now.

Supergirl is set to depart in December 2026 due to the ending licensing agreement, so you have some time to catch up and rewatch now. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to leave in September 2027, while The Flash will remain on Netflix until 2028. That will mark the end of an era.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - JULY 20: (L-R) Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III, China Anne McClain, Cress Williams and Nafessa Williams at the "Black Lightning" Special Video Presentation and Q&A during 2019 Comic-Con International at San Diego Convention Center on July 20, 2019 in San Diego, California. (Photo by Amy Sussman/Getty Images)

There isn’t a confirmed new streaming home for Black Lightning just yet. After Arrow left Netflix, it found a home at HBO Max, which makes sense as the CW series was produced by Warner Bros. We’re seeing more moves in which companies are taking back their property.

We could see something similar with Black Lightning. This will depend on whether another platform is interested in licensing the property. When Gilmore Girls left Netflix earlier this year, it went straight to Prime Video rather than HBO Max, which everyone expected. We could end up with a situation where different Arrowverse shows are on different platforms, making buying DVDs and Blu-Rays all the more convenient.

This Popular Cruise Line Is Inviting Everyday Travelers to Help Restore European Beaches

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 9:10am

Vacationers sailing through the sunny Mediterranean will soon have a unique opportunity to leave its iconic coastlines a little better than they found them.

The MSC Foundation has officially joined forces with ocean conservation group Asociación Vellmarí to launch "Shallow Bays of the Mediterranean," a three-year conservation and community initiative designed to bring vital underwater habitats back to life.

At the heart of the project is Posidonia oceanica, a essential seagrass species native strictly to the Mediterranean basin. These lush underwater meadows act as natural marine havens, storing blue carbon, stabilizing the seabed, and defending popular beaches from shoreline erosion.

Over the next three years, the new initiative aims to plant up to 180,000 individual seagrass plants across more than 215,000 square feet of degraded coastal areas, expanding restoration work nearly threefold.

Launching first in Talamanca Bay in Ibiza before expanding to major cruise stops in Palma de Mallorca and along the Barcelona coastline, the project is designed to give everyday travelers, local schools, and sea enthusiasts a hands-on role in protecting the ocean. Through citizen science activities, field learning, and volunteer opportunities, the program plans to connect with more than 30,000 people—including 600 hands-on volunteers, local dive centers, and thousands of students.

"How easy it is to destroy these ecosystems, but extraordinarily difficult to restore them. That is why protecting the Posidonia meadows that remain must be our top priority," said Manu San Félix, Founder of Asociación Vellmarí.

The initiative officially kicked off aboard Explora IIIduring the ship's naming ceremony events, where Vellmarí co-founder Cristina Ozores was appointed as the vessel's official Godmother—a movement highlighting the strong bond between ocean travel and active stewardship.

"Every journey to protect the ocean begins with a simple moment: slowing down, discovering its beauty and falling in love with the sea," said Cristina Ozores, Co-founder and Director of Education at Asociación Vellmarí.

By inviting travelers, divers, and locals alike to slow down and participate in marine restoration, the effort turns a standard European getaway into a meaningful opportunity to safeguard the vibrant Mediterranean waters for generations to come.

"Beneath the shallow bays of the Mediterranean lie Posidonia oceanica meadows, one of the region's most important ecosystems. Our partnership with Asociación Vellmarí brings together scientific expertise, education and community participation, helping people become active stewards of the sea that connects us all. Cristina Ozores' appointment as Godmother of EXPLORA III is a fitting symbol of the shared commitment to the sea that underpins this collaboration," said Daniela Picco, Executive Director of the MSC Foundation.

'Next Gen NYC's Brooks Marks Questions Whether He Can Trust Shai Fruchter (Exclusive)

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 9:00am

Brooks Marks and Shai Fruchter’s friendship hits a rough patch on Next Gen NYC after a missed photo shoot for Shai’s new clothing collection sparks a much deeper conversation about loyalty, trust, and respect.

In an exclusive clip shared with Parade, Shai confronts Brooks after he doesn’t participate in the shoot for his fashion line, questioning whether Brooks has been supportive of him as a friend.

What starts as a conversation about the collection quickly expands into lingering tensions involving Ariana Biermann and Hudson McLeroy, plus Shai's actions within the group. Brooks pushes back, accusing Shai of using his words against him and making him seem like someone who creates conflict.

"I mean, as someone who is friends with the majority of people in this group, I feel that your actions are making me question how much I can trust you," Brooks says to Shai as Shai asks for clarification.

That's when Brooks launches into Shai's involvement with Ariana and Hudson. "You said you needed to be a friend to Hudson, but Ariana's cute, and you wouldn't say that because you didn't want it to come across in a different way on camera," Brooks says.

Shai recounts being at the same small birthday gathering for Ariana where he said, when they were leaving in passing, that she looked "cute." Shai added in a confessional, "Yeah, she is cute. So is Brooks!"

Despite trying to defend himself to Brooks by saying lots of people in the group are cute, Brooks isn't buying it.

"You're questioning our friendship, implying that I'm not a good person. I don't know why," Shai says while pumping Brooks up by saying he "really" respects and admires his brand. Then adds that Brooks is making him out to be some sort of "pot stirrer. Seems like a projection," Shai adds.

As Shai tries to bring the conversation back to the photoshoot, Brooks claims, "It's not about what I want and what I don't want. I'm signed to a modeling agency and all of my work goes through them."

Of course, this comment gets a laugh from Shai, who says he doesn't want to have to go through his friend's modeling agency for a small photoshoot.

But Brooks insists, "When you have a modeling agreement in place, there are exclusivities. Like, I don't wanna get sued for like breaking a contract." And while he might have run the idea by his team, now Brooks isn't planning to help after the conversation he's had with Shai.

After the tense conversation, they both decide to "see each other in group settings," but nothing is resolved—in fact, it may have added more strain on their friendship.

Next Gen NYC airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.

44 Years After Becoming a TV Superstar, Tom Selleck Reveals How He Wants to Be Remembered

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 8:53am

For more than four decades, Tom Selleck has been a steady, comforting presence on American television screens.

From the Hawaiian-shirted sleuth in Magnum, P.I. to the principled police commissioner Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods, the iconic actor has built a career defined by integrity, warmth, and timeless charm. But while millions know him as one of Hollywood's most enduring TV superstars, Selleck’s true legacy isn't fame, the accolades, or the hit shows.

In a new interview with CNN, the actor discussed a myriad of topics, including his television fame and, most importantly, his legacy. Selleck's body of work stands alone, but he would rather be remembered for how he treated people and for being a fair and honest human being.

"You learn very early on that you may not feel so good coming to work every day," Selleck began. "But if you put on a happy face, you might feel a little better."

He continued, "And it affects everybody around you. That's probably the legacy I hope I'm most remembered for."

The former Blue Bloods star also told CNN that around the time he was signed to play Thomas Magnum in the hit '80s television series Magnum P.I., he was offered the role of a lifetime by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. He was handed the lead in their film Raiders of the Lost Ark as Indiana Jones.

"They handed me the script and said, 'this is your part,'" Selleck said. However, CBS wouldn't let him take on the role.

According to CNN, for six weeks, Spielberg held onto the part for the actor. However CBS "wouldn't budge."

"They thought if I did the picture, I would find a way to get out of my contract, which I never would have done. It was OK. Magnum wasn't the worst thing," the actor added. The role ultimately went to Harrison Ford, thereafter making the former Star Wars icon a household name.

According to IMDb, Selleck isn't slowing down anytime soon. He is currently attached to an untitled 10th installment of the popular Jesse Stone film franchise, as well as serving as an executive producer on the upcoming TV series Crime and Justice with Tom Selleck.

As sad as it might be to see yet another summer come and go, there's still plenty of things to look forward to when looking ahead to the upcoming autumn.

For example, the fan-favorite coffee creamer company International Delight just unveiled its seasonal lineup of fall products. And judging from the initial announcement, the new coffee creamer flavors sound like they'll be the hit of the new season.

According to a new press release from the company, International Delight's latest fall offerings will include a total of six returning coffee creamer flavors, alongside the brand-new Apple Butter Coffee Cake Creamer.

"Inspired by two beloved fall favorites, apple butter and coffee cake, International Delight Apple Butter Coffee Cake Creamer delivers the delightful taste of sweet apple butter with rich swirls of freshly baked coffee cake in every cup," the brand said of the new flavor. "Crumb and get it!"

In addition to Apple Butter Coffee Cake Creamer, International Delight will also be releasing three of their most beloved seasonal flavors with the following:

  • Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer (available in Traditional and Zero Sugar): "Delivers creaminess with the classic flavor of pumpkin and warm, aromatic spices that coffee lovers crave each fall."
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice Cold Foam Creamer: "Adds a creamy, pumpkin-spiced layer of foam to hot or cold coffee with a simple shake and press."
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice Iced Coffee: "Enjoy pumpkin spice and everything nice with a ready-to-drink iced coffee infused with the familiar, cozy notes of pumpkin spice."

"For so many people, the flavors of fall aren't just something you taste, they're something you look forward to all year," said Julia Adams, Vice President, International Delight Coffee Creamers, Danone USA. "From the warm aroma of pumpkin spice to the cozy comfort of apple butter and coffee cake, these flavors have a way of instantly setting the mood for the season. We're excited to bring back our fan-favorite Pumpkin Pie Spice while giving coffee lovers a delicious new way to savor fall with Apple Butter Coffee Cake Creamer."

International Delight's new lineup of seasonal creamers are available in nationwide stores starting today.

Denise Richards Reveals Daughter Sami Sheen Never Liked Ex Aaron Phypers: 'She Saw Through Him'

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 8:48am

Actress Denise Richards recently revealed that her daughter Sami Sheen never took a liking to her ex Aaron Phypers.

"Sami, I think, well she knew; she did not like him from day one," Richards shared on Bunnie Xo's Dumb Blonde Podcast on Monday. "She saw through him."

The Wild Things star, 55, candidly shared accusations of physical abuse against Phypers while discussing their marriage and said that her younger daughter, Lola Sheen, was "sweet" and "she liked him and she liked him for me. She believed him too, I believe, until the end."

As for Sami though, Richards said, "She's the one I had to lie the most to with him with everything."

Richards shares Sami, 22, and Lola, 21, with ex-husband, Charlie Sheen while Phypers is dad to the actress' adopted daughter Eloise, 15.

Richards and Phypers, 43, tied the knot in September 2018, and he filed for divorce in July 2025. The actress, 55, candidly shared claims of abuse toward her ex, whom she now has a restraining order against. While the two were initially happily married, she said things "shifted" after Phypers, a Canadian, got his green card and when his family came to live with them.

"I was seeing a man I didn't even know," she said. "The physical [abuse] started so much, and [at first] it was stuff that I could hide, you know, like on my arms or something. And then he gave me a black eye, and that was where I was like, 'Oh, oh, f--k! What am I gonna do now? What am I gonna tell people?' It was awful."

"Our normal became where I would be hit or pushed down on the ground or some threat of something," she claimed. "And I knew it was wrong, but I was so beaten down, and that I I didn't know how to leave. I really did not know how to leave."

Richards eventually moved into a townhouse her daughters while a few members of his family still remain in a house that she paid for.

In the past year, the former couple's divorce proceedings, which he initially filed for, have been tumultuous as Phypers allegedly requested the process be public, which allows him to speak to the media.

“To turn on me the way that he did publicly and do all that s--t about me, that was more devastating,” she said, mentioning he accused her of having an affair. “The betrayal that he had toward me ... that was the worst.”

However, Richards said she does not want "to be bitter" and hopes to find love again.

"I want to meet someone. I want to have fun, so I don't feel bitter at all. Yeah, but I'm just going to be a little cautious about who I meet," she said. "I feel like I'm back to myself before I married him but only wiser."

Lab-grown diamonds are a major trend right now, and for good reason. Although they’re more affordable than natural diamonds, they have the same sparkle and overall look, so much so that it’s hard to tell the difference between the two.

If you’re in the market for your first lab-grown diamond piece, or just want to add a sparkly accessory to your jewelry collection, consider this dazzling Gold Plated 0.20ctw Diamond Heart Pendant with Chain. It’s gorgeous, and it’s on sale for just $90 on ShopHQ.

Gold Plated 0.20ctw Diamond Heart Pendant with Chain, $90 (was $180) at ShopHQ

It’s been marked down a jaw dropping 50% from its original $180 price tag, which makes it an incredible deal. The stunning necklace has a 14-karat gold-plated, heart-shaped pendant that is topped with .20 carats of sparkling lab-grown, round-cut diamonds.

The diamonds are near colorless, giving them a bright white appearance, and they have a I2-I3 clarity grade, which means they may have imperfections, but they aren’t easy to see, particularly at the size of the diamonds in the pendant. The pendant is small, measuring about 1.2 inches long, 0.75 inches wide, and 0.2 inches deep, and it weighs about 5 grams. So, it has a delicate look and feel that you can wear every day without overpowering your ensemble. The necklace comes complete with an 18-inch gold chain that closes securely with a spring ring clasp.

As a bonus, the pendant is removable, so it can easily be swapped onto other chains for different styling options. Its small stature make it versatile to wear with a variety of looks and a staple for everyday wear. Pair it with a breezy sundress and sandals or a T-shirt and jeans for a casual spring and summer daytime look. Or, wear it at night, with a top and fitted trousers or a cocktail dress for a spring evening gala. It’s also perfect for gifts because of its romantic aesthetic and seamless versatility.

Over 80 Minutes of Unseen 1970 Footage From a Legendary Band Surfaces Online

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 8:20am

On June 28, 1970, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham took the stage as a beloved rock band and left rock legends. The Bath Festival in the UK, a three-day event, was filled with memorable acts like Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, The Byrds, and Santana, but what everyone remembers is a young Led Zeppelin headlining. While there was footage of the landmark event, most of it remained unreleased for decades—but now all of that has changed.

"After 56 years, I am proud to present all the 16mm footage shot by Peter Whitehead and Ernie Vincze of Led Zeppelin's performance at the Bath Festival on June 28th, 1970," wrote film archivist ledzepfilm. "Rumored for decades, this is a monumental addition to the Led Zeppelin canon and an essential watch for any fan."

The Story Behind the Lost 16mm Film of Led Zeppelin's Historic Performance

The pivotal moment in the band's career was captured on film by Whitehead and Vincze, who were under the impression they were making a documentary of sorts. The pair originally intended to shoot the festival and interview the band, according to Louder.

"In the spring of 1970, he would go on to edit a 42-minute rough cut of the footage using temp audio recorded by the film crew, as Led Zeppelin, unhappy with their performance, refused them access to the multi-track recordings," the archivist said.

Related: The Real Reason This Unforgettable 2012 Performance Brought a Tough Rock Icon to Tears

The two were late, missed the band's epic helicopter arrival, and did not have the right equipment to shoot at dusk and at night. Much of the captured footage was deemed unusable due to its darkness. The unreleased footage shows moments between Plant and Bonham backstage, as well as the debut live performance of "Immigrant Song". Though some of the audio is missing, the footage is still incredible to witness, as the moment really cemented their status as rock legends.

To this day, people remember the show fondly.

"My most lingering memories of this night, in addition to the fact that the ground had finally dried out after the rain and the crowd's mood was palpably lifting, was the way the band came on right at sunset--afterwards we learned Peter Grant had orchestrated this, but at the time it seemed like an incredible piece of natural drama," a fan recalled via a comment on Led Zeppelin's website. "There was a mad rush to the front, the result of this being that I couldn't personally see anything, but no trouble hearing--so incredibly loud you could feel the vibrations through the ground. And they were fabulous, of course."

Music Icon Cancels Concert Minutes Before Going on Stage—And Fans Are Worried

Wed, 08/05/2026 - 8:08am

Music icon Barry Manilow has fans worried about his health after he rescheduled a show in Kentucky just minutes before going on stage.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances tonight’s show in Lexington has been rescheduled," read a message posted to Manilow's X page on August 4.

The announcement came as fans were already seated inside the venue and waiting for the concert to begin, leaving many surprised by the last-minute postponement. News of the abrupt cancellation quickly spread across social media, where fans expressed concern for the 83-year-old singer and hoped the postponement was only a precaution.

"Continued prayers for you! Prayed throughout the night," one person wrote.

"We traveled from Cincinnati to hear him! I hope all is well. It wasn’t canceled until 30 minutes before start time," someone else said.

"Dear God. Please watch over Barry and keep him well and healthy," a third comment read.

The reason for the show's last-minute cancellation is unclear. While it's possible that there were some technical difficulties at the venue, longtime fans know that Manilow's been having some health issues in recent years.

In December 2025, Manilow shared that he'd been diagnosed with lung cancer.

"As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks," he wrote in a statement posted on Instagram at the time. "Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK. The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It's pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early."

At the time of this writing, neither Manilow nor his team have shared any update about Tuesday night's show.

Parade has reached out to Manilow's rep for comment.

The "Copacabana" singer is scheduled to perform in Cincinnati tonight.
