A supernatural romance film seems right up the alley of Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Millennials grew up watching the 1990s staple, 49, in hits like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cruel Intentions and, of course, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

And now, fresh off her juicy turn in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Gellar is set to star alongside Rudy Pankow (Outer Banks) in the upcoming movie Thud, where they’ll respectively play the juicy roles of the Grim Reaper and the Devil, Deadline reports.

The romance story sees the infamous personas meet cute at a three-day destination wedding, falling in love after colliding at the event where they’ve each come to sow their own chaos, Deadline also noted on Tuesday, June 16.

Gellar's other recent projects include Showtime’s Dexter: Original Sin and a cameo in Sony’s reboot of the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise.

Pankow, 28, will next be seen in Hulu’s comedy Never Change!, which is coming off its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival, per Deadline.

Thud will be helmed by Mali Elfman, whose feature directorial debut was the genre-bender Next Exit, which also premiered at Tribeca and was released in theaters in 2022.

Earlier this month, Gellar paid tribute to Anthony Head after the fellow Buffy actor died at age 72. The actress took to Instagram to share a quote from their beloved series, something she had done for both the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg and Nicholas Brendon.

She posted: “Tell Giles I figured it out and I’m ok” Well I don’t have it figured out and I’m not ok. But I know I’m the lucky one because I knew you. Thank you to Daisy and Emily who not only shared their dad with me, but with the world.”

While including the line from the show, she added her own words, because quite frankly, she doesn’t “have it figured out.”

The task force investigating Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is aware of a new cybersecurity report examining a rise in targeted crimes, and Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed the information has been flagged for investigators, according to Fox News Digital's Mike Ruiz.

Rumors of a possible “wrench attack” in the Guthrie case have circulated since early in the investigation. The concept refers to situations in which criminals orchestrate a crime and hire others to carry it out.

In these cases, "the victim of the violence is a more vulnerable relative of the person criminals are looking to extort," Ruiz wrote on X.

While there is no official indication that Guthrie’s case involved this type of crime, experts say the report highlights a growing concern in cases involving vulnerable targets.

"The bad guys in these cases and in many types of criminal cases utilize open source information and social media information to find their targets and the targets’ vulnerabilities, the pressure point," Lisa J. Miller, a retired detective and law enforcement executive at the Colorado Attorney General's Office, told Fox News Digital. "News releases from companies describing wealth, social media posts showing off big expenditures, big toys, big homes. Many of us put at least some of our lives out there for everyone to see — and it’s usually the happiest part."

"Nancy Guthrie could have been viewed by someone watching [her Today] segment as a vulnerability—Savannah Guthrie's pressure point," Miller added.

Miller's comments comes on the heels of CertiK—a cyber-security firm—putting out a report that designated Guthrie's abduction as a wrench attack by proxy.

When Fox News Digital asked Sheriff Nanos about the potential relevance of a wrench attack in the Guthrie case, he said he had “flagged it to the investigation team.”

Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1.

In the early ‘80s, Kira Roessler made a name for herself playing bass in Black Flag alongside frontman Henry Rollins and the band’s founder, guitarist Greg Ginn, adding a nimble female touch to the testosterone-fueled rage of the late period lineup of the legendary punk band

After her two years in Black Flag, which ended when the band broke up in 1985, she went on to form Dos, a two-piece band with her now former husband Mike Watt of the Minutemen. Her punk credentials date back to her pre-Black Flag days as a member of Twisted Roots with former Germs and future Nirvana and Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear. While she’s kept a low profile in the music world of late, Roessler has returned to the scene with Enigma, her first album in five years due on July 10, and the preview track, “You Will Feel My Pain,” out now.

The new release marks her first new music since her 2021 return to the scene with her acclaimed debut solo album. Roessler turned 65 on June 12.

"Enigma is the continuation of the narration of my life through song — honest, if over-dramatized statements about what is in those moments," Roessler explained in a statement. "Leaning into the raw feeling of it all. I feel very lucky to be able to share some new music with those who listen."

She also spoke about the first track released from the album, “You Will Feel My Pain,” which examines the moment when inner turmoil can no longer be hidden under wraps over a tasteful jazz-like blend of piano and melodic bass lines.

"What happens when my inner turmoil leaks out to the rest of the world?" Roessler explained. "You will, they all will feel my pain."

In a sense, Enigma is a family affair with her brother and fellow punk legend Paul Roessler of the Screamers and 45 Grave fame co-producing the album with Kira. Also featured on the album is Petra Haden of the band that dog, who provides.

The album also features a lounge music-like take of the Black Flag rager “Drinking and Driving” in which Roessler’s restrained croon replaces Rollins’ fist-in-your-face vocals.

While Roessler has been absent from the music scene, she didn’t abandon the world of entertainment entirely as she has built an impressive career as a sound editor for movies and TV. Her credits include Mad Max: Fury Road, Game of Thrones, and Project Hail Mary.

Daughtry is celebrating two decades in the music industry with a special fall tour.

The 2000s rock band, with lead singer and guitarist Chris Daughtry, announced the 20th anniversary tour—with a twist.

Instead of a full-scale production, the tour will take place in smaller, more intimate venues, featuring an unplugged, acoustic set that will put the focus solely on the music and lyrics that fans have come to love over the years.

"The tour will pull the band's music into a more raw and immediate space, where the weight of a lyric, the scrape of a guitar string, and the quiet before a chorus can hit as hard as the full-band impact," a press release reiterated, per ABC Audio.

The tour will begin on Oct. 12 in Troy, N.Y., and span several cities, states and venues, before wrapping up in Dallas, TX, roughly a month later, on Nov. 14.

Fans will be able to score tickets starting this Friday, June 19, at 10 AM local time on the Daughtry website. There will be a chance to get tickets via the presale on Wednesday, June 17, which is also when VIP packages will be available.

The announcement on social media teased, "Get ready for an unforgettable acoustic experience filled with classics, current hits, and a few surprises. This show is going to be different, you don't want to miss it! 🤘"

The tour is being supported by special guest Ryan Perdz.

"Yayyyyyyy!! I’m so here for this tour!! I have been seriously saying y’all need to do an acoustic tour of all these amazing songs. ❤️dreams come true," one fan celebrated, as many others begged the band to bring an acoustic tour to Europe.

Daughtry formed in 2006 after the frontman's run on American Idol on Season 5. Despite coming in fourth place, it fueled a post-Idol success story.

The band's debut album was among the fastest-selling rock debuts in Nielsen SoundScan history, producing multiple radio hits, according to BMI.

While they never scored a Hot 100 No. 1 hit, they achieved multiple major mainstream hits, along with several No. 1’s on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock / Adult Pop Rock-style charts, including “Home,” “It’s Not Over,” and “Over You.”

The band’s most recent album release was SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM, which featured two EPs spanning 2024 and 2025.

Todd Chrisley is opening up about the behind-the-scenes work his daughter, Savannah Chrisley, did while he and Julie Chrisley were in prison.

During a new interview on FOX News Media's Hang Out with Sean Hannitypodcast, Todd and Julie praised Savannah's effort to help bring them home after their federal convictions.

But Todd also revealed a private sacrifice he said the family did not fully understand until after he and Julie were released.

Todd Chrisley Says Savannah Paid for Everything Herself

Todd said he and Julie had given Savannah power of attorney over their assets while they were away, giving her access to their money.

According to Todd, they later learned that she had not used it to care for her younger siblings.

"She never used a single dollar of our money to take care of her siblings," Todd said on Hang Out with Sean Hannity.

Todd said they only found out after everything was turned back over to them. He said Savannah had covered those expenses herself.

Savannah Chrisley Kept Fighting for Her Parents

Todd said Savannah worked constantly to advocate for him and Julie, including traveling to Washington, D.C., attending events and trying to make the right connections.

Julie said Savannah carried folders with information and took them wherever she went, hoping to get them in front of anyone who could help.

Todd also said Savannah did not talk to Julie about everything she was doing because she did not want to get her mother's hopes up.

Instead, he said, she would come to him and tell him about her plans.

Todd recalled telling her to pray about it and live her life, but said Savannah remained convinced he would come home.

Todd Says Savannah Spoke Directly With Trump

During the interview, Todd said Savannah eventually met President Donald Trump at an event in Georgia.

According to Todd, Savannah gave Trump what she called her "elevator pitch" and told him about her parents' case.

Todd said Trump listened and told Savannah that if he were reelected, he would look into it.

Trump pardoned the Chrisleys in May 2025 after they had been serving prison sentences tied to their 2022 fraud and tax-evasion convictions. Todd and Julie have maintained their innocence.

The Chrisleys Recalled the Pardon Call

Todd also described the moment he learned he had been pardoned.

He said a correctional officer approached him after he had been in the library and told him he was getting out. Todd said he asked if he could call Savannah, and when he reached her, they were both crying.

Savannah, he said, told him Trump had called her while she was coming out of Sam's Club.

Todd said Savannah came to pick him up, while his sons went to get Julie.

Why Savannah's Role Stands Out

Savannah's advocacy for her parents was already public. She spoke out about their case, sought political support and became one of the most visible voices in the family during Todd and Julie's prison sentences.

According to him, Savannah was not only trying to help secure her parents' release. She was also supporting her siblings without using her parents' money.

For Todd, that made her role in the family's story even bigger than he realized at the time.

In fact, olive oil is so beneficial for the body that registered dietitians recommend consuming it every single day. Doing so can lead to a cascade of health benefits, including lower cholesterol, greater satiety after meals, better digestion, a lower risk of certain cancers and a lower risk of dementia.

Given its myriad benefits, it’s perhaps not surprising that taking a daily shot of olive oil has become the latest wellness trend among celebrities and health influencers on social media. Hailey Bieber mentioned that she knocks back a daily shot of olive oil in a recent interview with Time magazine. Singer-songwriter Paul Anka, who is 84, has said that he takes a daily shot of olive oil, too. 

There’s no question that olive oil is steeped with health benefits. But are there actual benefits to taking a daily olive oil shot, or is this just another overhyped wellness trend? I decided to interview a doctor about it and try it for myself to find out.

Are There Benefits To Taking a Daily Olive Oil Shot?

Dr. Randolph Martin, MD, FACC, a cardiologist and clinical professor of cardiothoracic surgery for the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, is a big proponent of consuming olive oil regularly. 

He’s seen firsthand how olive oil is front and center in Mediterranean countries and complements an overall healthy lifestyle. “Copious amounts of it are used in cooking vegetables, meats, soups and pasta. A bottle of it is always on the table,” he says.

Dr. Martin emphasizes that it’s extra-virgin olive oil in particular that’s the most beneficial for health because it’s the least processed type of olive oil and the highest quality. “Extra-virgin olive oil is full of monounsaturated fats and a type of antioxidants called polyphenols,” he tells Parade, explaining that both nutrients are beneficial for heart health, brain health and lowering inflammation.

While Dr. Martin says that taking shots of olive oil isn’t harmful, he says that consuming it with food is more beneficial than just knocking it back on its own. He explains that the fats in olive oil make some of the nutrients in other foods better absorbed in the body. For example, leafy greens are high in vitamin A, E and K, which are all fat-soluble. That means if you put olive oil on your salad, the nutrients in the greens will be better absorbed in the body.

Dr. Martin also points out that people who live in Mediterranean countries and naturally follow the Mediterranean diet aren’t drinking shots of olive oil; they’re simply incorporating it into their cooking and meals.

While olive oil tastes good when it’s consumed with food, Dr. Martin says that it can be pretty pungent to have as a shot. “Some people, like Paul Anka, add lemon juice and a little honey to their olive oil shot to make it more palatable,” he explains.

Even though Dr. Martin shares that consuming olive oil as part of a meal is a better way to reap its health benefits than taking a shot, he says that taking a daily shot of olive oil isn’t harmful. “Hey, it’s better than tequila!” he laughs. With that, I began to try the experiment for myself.

My Experience Taking a Shot of Olive Oil Every Day for 2 Weeks

For my two-week-long experiment of knocking back olive oil shots, I used GundryMD polyphenol-rich extra-virgin olive oil, which was sent to me specifically for this experiment. Dr. Steven Gundry, MD, is a former heart surgeon and the author of several books, including The Plant Paradox. 

The olives used to make the GundryMD extra-virgin olive oil are sourced from Morocco. According to the product description, the harsh desert environment triggers a “nutrient surge” that makes the olives particularly high in polyphenols.

I absolutely love olive oil. Give me a plate of bread and a small bowl of olive oil for dipping and I’m set. Because I love olive oil so much, I wasn’t really worried about not liking the taste of an olive oil shot, so for my first shot of the week, I decided to have it straight with no added ingredients.

As soon as the olive oil hit my tongue, I was overwhelmed with its pungent taste. I actually gagged. It definitely tasted different than having olive oil with food. The consistency was so thick that it was hard for me to take it all at once, so I suffered through small sips. I was shocked at how hard it was for me to get down, given how much I love olive oil.

After I eventually finished the whole shot, I settled into the workday. I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet and while I still felt hungry, I wasn’t as ravenous as I typically am in the morning, which I credited to the satiating fats in the olive oil. Other than that, I didn’t feel any different.

The next day, I decided to dilute the olive oil with a little water so that it wouldn’t be as thick. This definitely made the olive oil easier for me to sip, but it was still too pungent for me to take a full shot of it all in one go and still didn’t taste very good. 

On the third day of my experiment, I decided to take Dr. Martin’s advice and mix some fresh lemon juice and a bit of honey into my olive oil shot. Just like the day before, I added some water so it wouldn’t be as thick. Adding the lemon juice and honey definitely made the shot more palatable, though it still didn’t taste good. Now, the shot tasted super tart, which made it hard to swallow for another reason. Still, I got through it.

For the rest of my experiment, I mixed lemon juice, honey and water into my olive oil shot to make it easier to sip on. That really did make it slightly more enjoyable!

The Physical Differences I Noticed From Taking Olive Oil Shots

After taking my daily shot, the only physical difference I would feel is not being as hungry as I typically am in the mornings, similar to how I felt on the first day of the experiment. This wasn’t surprising to me because I knew that the benefits of olive oil come with consuming it regularly and support long-term health in ways that aren’t exactly felt (the way caffeine is, for example), but are nonetheless still beneficial.

I have to say, as much as I love olive oil, I was relieved when my experiment was over and I could go back to integrating olive oil into my meals instead of doing shots of it. After talking with Dr. Martin and trying it myself, this is one wellness trend I believe is more hype than healing. As long as olive oil is your go-to cooking oil or you’re regularly incorporating it into your meals in other ways, there’s no need to do shots of it.

Now that the experiment is over, I plan on leaving shots of olive oil behind me—just like those tequila shots.

Ella Langley has a new furry friend.

The country star shared that over the weekend, she adopted Joan, a rescue puppy from Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Florida. Langley visited the shelter ahead of her headlining performance at Alan Jackson's 5 O'Clock Somewhere Fest in West Palm Beach to spend time with more than 100 beagles that were rescued from a medical testing lab. While visiting, the 27-year-old singer decided to bring one of the puppies home.

Langley shared her experience on her TikTok account, which shows her and her friends petting and playing with the rescue pups.

Langley already has two puppies at home, Crue and Bee. She also serves as the Director of Fundraising for the Pawsitive Rescue Division, a non-profit dog rescue that operates in Tennessee and Connecticut. The organization focuses on rehab, training and personalized adoption placements, ensuring that every dog has the perfect home.

Pawsitive Rescue Division also has a partnership with Big Dog Ranch Rescue, the largest cage-free rescue in the United States. Fellow country singer Miranda Lambert also adopted her dog Bellamy from the same rescue shelter in 2013.

Starting her professional music career in Alabama, where she performed locally around bars and festivals, the "you look like you love me" singer released her debut album, Hungover, in 2024 with Columbia Records and Sony Music Nashville, which became a huge success and shot her into the mainstream. Langley followed it up with Dandelion a year and a half later, which includes the lead single "Choosin' Texas," a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks straight. The second single, "Be Her," hit No. 1 on the country radio charts over the weekend.

With "Choosin' Texas," Langley broke a record previously held by Taylor Swift: the song spent 6 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs. It was also the first song by a woman in country to lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts at the same time.

"Every day I wake up, it's like something more insane has happened," Langley told Billboard. She celebrated the song hitting No. 1 with her team, as well as Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, who co-wrote the tune with Langley. "We loved the song when we wrote it, but none of us thought it would be the song to do everything it's doing. It keeps giving us a reason to celebrate new milestones."

Cold, the rock veterans, faced another setback as they announced the cancellation of a particular show on the Goodbye Cruel World U.S. tour.

After briefly disbanding in November 2006 and officially returning in January 2009 with a reunion concert, the band is currently in an ongoing headlining tour in celebration of the release of their self-titled debut album.

The five-piece band fronted by Scooter Ward announced a major change in one of their shows.

In an Instagram update, the band apologized for cancelling the June 17 show set in Fort Wayne, Indiana, “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

Although they didn't specify the exact reason, Cold explained that it was with “heavy hearts” that they needed to halt their performance at Piere's Entertainment Center, but assured fans that everyone is in good spirits.

As for those who bought tickets, the band confirmed that purchases will be refunded at the point of purchase.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. (Everyone in the band and crew is fine for those asking). All other shows remain as scheduled,” the caption reads.

The post sparked heartfelt messages from fans who were wishing Cold the best.

“Hope you're doing well, wish it will get better,” a commenter said.

The recent update wasn't the first time that the band carried out changes for their ongoing tour.

Back in March, Cold had to reschedule their spring 2026 tour dates while other stops were canceled.

At the time, the band explained that the decision was made due to some "family health issues."

"It’s never an easy decision for us to have to cancel or reschedule any shows for an upcoming tour," as mentioned on their Instagram post, adding, "With that said, family always remains the most important thing in all of our lives. Family health issues are sometimes unexpected and can create certain issues for us leaving."

Despite the sudden change in the Goodbye Cruel World U.S. tour, Cold will continue the remaining dates this month.

Welcome to Rockville, Florida's largest rock, metal, and punk festival is returning for 2027.

The beloved festival, which sees performances from some of the biggest names in rock music, has unveiled the dates for its 2027 festival. Next year, Welcome to Rockville will take place from May 6 through May 9, 2027 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Those who attended the 2026 event will get first priority for tickets, with an exclusive presale beginning Thursday, June 18, at 12:00 PM ET. Additional presale tickets will be available starting  Friday, June 19, at 10:00 AM ET to those who sign up via the festival's website. The general public sale will begin on Monday, June 22, at 10:00 AM ET.

The 2026 festival, which took place from May 7 through May 10, 2026, saw the beloved event celebrate its 15th anniversary. Pulling out all the stops for this major milestone, over 160 bands performed across five stages at Daytona International Speedway, including rock heavyweights that were the soundtrack to the '90s and early aughts, along with talented newcomers set to take the industry by storm. 2026's line-up included Guns N' Roses, Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance, and Bring Me The Horizon.

Festival organizer Danny Wimmer expressed his excitement and gratitude for the recent line-up, which saw 210,000 people in attendance and record-breaking temperatures.

While creating the list below, we cast a wide net to seek a range of expert insight. We chatted with a few pop culture pros to start, then tapped the expertise of some pros at the Smithsonian and Heritage Auctions.

Anyone who was around in the '80s will likely feel a sense of déjà vu while combing through the list below. You might even have a few items of your own to contribute (share them in the comments!). 1980s Nostalgia: 25 Things Only People Who Lived in the '80s Will Remember1. Sony Walkman

Author and historian Allen J. Wiener says the '80s "ushered in the era of portable music."

"The introduction of cassette tapes, which could record up to 90 minutes of music, and relatively cheap recorders gave users the ability to record music the way they wanted and create playlists or mix tapes of their favorite songs or entire albums," he explains.

And maybe one of the most memorable ways to listen was with the Sony Walkman, which offered "portable music on the go."

"You could take your cassette tapes wherever you went and play them whenever you wanted," he shares. "Compact discs (CDs) also debuted in the '80s, along with CD players, offering improved sound fidelity and more songs per disc than vinyl records. Listeners could program CDs to play selected tracks, which could be recorded during playback on cassette tapes, offering a faster way to compile better-sounding playlists."

2. Shoulder pads

Heritage Auctions Director of Consignments, Pop Culture/Historical, CharlesEpting, calls shoulder pads a "major fashion trend for women" in the '80s.

"Shoulder pads created a broader silhouette and projected confidence in both business and casual wear. They ensured that entering a doorway felt like a more strategic process," he says.

3. The rise of TV sitcoms like 'The Golden Girls'

"Sitcoms dominated weekly viewing schedules. The Golden Girls, one of the most memorable examples, reached cult status across multiple demographics and remains highly popular," Wiener states. "Somehow, the typically hilarious misadventures of four older women sharing a house grabbed a huge following that continues today. The clever writing, perfectly timed wisecracks from droll scripts, delivered by a stellar cast, sealed this as an all-time TV champion."

4. The popularity of shopping malls

Wiener says shopping malls rose in popularity in the '80s and were a major hangout spot for kids.

"Many high-end stores anchored an assortment of shops, restaurants, food courts, play areas and eventually movie theaters, which drew people seeking one-stop shopping and perhaps a Friday night respite from daily routines, perhaps capped off with dinner at a favorite spot in the food court or just a brew at a coffee shop," he shares.

5. Cabbage Patch Kids

"These dolls became one of the biggest toy crazes of the decade, inspiring long lines and occasional scuffles among holiday shoppers. Few toys have inspired such fierce competition over something so determined to look homemade," Epting says.

6. VHS rental stores

"VHS became the dominant home video format, allowing families to watch movies whenever they wanted. It also created a generation of people who knew exactly how to rewind something and still managed to forget," Epting shares.

VHS rental stores popped up everywhere in the '80s, including local shops and national chains like Blockbuster.

"Before home video, people could see a film only by buying tickets at movie theaters, and films typically ran for no more than a week or two," Wiener says. "If you missed it, you had to rely on the film coming around again at some point, which was likely only for popular films that had sold a lot of tickets the first time."

He adds that TV networks also occasionally aired films after they were released in theaters. So as you can imagine, VHS tapes of movies became a major innovation for movie lovers (and the public in general).

7. MTV dominated music television

"Launched in 1981, MTV changed the music industry by making music videos a central part of popular culture," Epting states.

The cable station offered round-the-clock music videos to satiate music lovers and changed the industry significantly.

"Stars like Michael Jackson boosted record sales into the stratosphere through sophisticated, high-budget videos, notably Jackson's 'Thriller' video, the title track from his album of the same name," Wiener says.

8. John Hughes movies

If you grew up in the '80s, you likely saw at least one John Hughes film. To this day, the writer, director and producer's work is still considered iconic.

"For those of us in Gen X, he essentially wrote the story of our youth," says Chris Clews, an ‘80s pop culture expert and author of the book series The Ultimate Series on Essential Work & Life Lessons from ‘80s Pop Culture. "No one captured it better, from Ferris Bueller to Pretty in Pink to The Breakfast Club and so many more. And little did we know that as we grew into adulthood, he would stay by our side and teach us how to be good human beings with his masterpiece, Planes, Trains and Automobiles."

9. The first American woman in space

"Dr. Sally K. Ride, the first American woman in space, was one of five astronauts on NASA’s seventh Space Shuttle mission ('STS-7'), aboard the Challenger orbiter in June 1983," Margaret A. Weitekamp, curator and chair of the Department of Space History at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, tells Parade. "Ride said that she didn’t fully appreciate the significance of her barrier-breaking spaceflight until Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro cited it as an example that 'change is in the air' for American women." 

10. Power dressing

Alexis Dixon, a museum specialist at the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture, shares that the 1980s "defined the era of power dressing."   

"With the introduction of the power suit silhouette, women’s clothing evolved to indicate presence, agency and power," she states.

Suits are traditionally associated with the office or boardroom, but Dixon says the power suit "also translated into evening and formal wear."

11. Boomboxes

The iconic boombox scene from Say Anythingwill forever live in moviegoers' memories. That's partly due to the romantic gesture, but also because boomboxes were a huge part of pop culture in the '80s.

"We hoisted them up on our shoulders and carried them around like they were royalty in a long-ago forgotten land," Clews remembers.

Epting calls the portable stereos a "symbol of the era."

"They brought music into parks, sidewalks and nearly every public space imaginable. They ensured that everyone nearby could enjoy your music whether they wanted to or not," he says.

12. Rubik’s Cube

"Released internationally in 1980, the Rubik’s Cube became one of the decade’s defining toys and a worldwide puzzle craze. Most owners spent weeks confidently making it worse," Epting shares.

Clews adds that many people purchased a book "on how to solve it and still couldn’t do it."

13. Answering machines

Although they were invented much earlier in the 20th century, answering machines really became popular in the 1980s, per Epting.

"The excuse of missing a call became invalid as they became a household staple," he shares. "Before getting smaller and eventually being replaced by today’s smartphones with digital recorders, answering machines required two small cassette tapes, claimed prominent spots on counters and tables, and offered a forum for creative outgoing messages to entertain callers."

14. Air Jordan sneakers

"First released in 1985, Air Jordans transformed athletic shoes into cultural icons and collectibles. They also made it possible for footwear to become a serious topic of conversation," Epting says of these shoes that were inspired by NBA legend Michael Jordan.

15. Waterbeds

If you've never been in a waterbed before, you'll never truly appreciate just how squishy they are and how difficult it is to roll out of one.

"My lower back and neck scream out in agony just thinking about sleeping on one of those again," Clews says. But they were popular in the '80s!

16. Polaroid cameras

"Polaroid cameras acknowledged and celebrated people’s need for immediate gratification. The few seconds of waiting for an image to dry were the precursor to today’s immediate digital photos," Epting says.

Instant cameras have evolved significantly throughout the decades, but there are still variations available today.

17. Microfiche machines

Before search engines made life easier, people in the '80s did their research the old-fashioned way with these machines that helped enlarge documents, newspapers and other research materials.

"Our Google was the microfiche machine in the library, and we thought it was the coolest thing ever," Clews says.

18. Personal computers

Clunkier personal computers predated the laptop you're used to using today.

"Home computers from companies like IBM, Apple and Commodore became increasingly common throughout the decade. They promised a glimpse of the future and frequently delivered a blinking cursor instead," Epting says.

19. The California Raisins

"Created for a series of commercials, these singing claymation raisins became an unexpected pop culture phenomenon. Their success remains strong evidence that the 1980s were willing to try just about anything," Epting states.

20. Fotomats

Most of us take photos on our smartphones these days, but film cameras were all the rage in the '80s (and also the only way to take photos back then). Fotomats made it possible to get your photos printed out so you could hang them around the house.

Clews describes the experience as follows: "No deleting. No previews. No redos. Just hope."

21. Portable camcorders

Did you really grow up in the '80s without embarrassing home videos? We think not.

"Camcorders made it easier than ever for families to record everyday events and special occasions. As a result, countless hours of footage now exist documenting absolutely nothing in particular," Epting says.

22. PEZ Dispensers

When you hear "PEZ Dispensers," you can't help but taste those sickly sweet candies. The dispensers themselves were also pretty iconic in the '80s.

"Themed to represent popular trends of the era, they were a ready source of Austrian novelty candy as well as a collectible toy. Whether acquired to fill out a themed set or just to enjoy the sugary contents inside, they were hugely popular," Epting says.

23. Atari 2600

Few video game consoles were more iconic than the Atari 2600.

"Games like Pac-Man and Space Invaders entered living rooms everywhere through this gaming console pioneer. It helped launch video games from an arcade hobby to entertainment that can be enjoyed anywhere," Epting says.

24. Swatch watches

"Known for their colorful designs and affordability, Swatch watches turned timepieces into fashion accessories. Many people wore multiple watches at once despite time remaining remarkably consistent," Epting says.

25. Pac-Man

"Pac-Man became one of the most recognizable video games of all time and helped bring arcade gaming into the mainstream. The concept was simple: eat dots, avoid ghosts and somehow remain stressed the entire time," Epting says.

Valentina Tereshkova's Historic Space Mission

Before becoming a cosmonaut, Tereshkova was born in Maslennikovo, near Yaroslavl in western Russia, and worked in a textile factory alongside her mother. An avid amateur parachutist, her skydiving experience helped her stand out during the search for female candidates, since early Soviet spacecraft required cosmonauts to exit via parachute before landing.

Hundreds of applicants were considered before a small group of women underwent extensive physical and technical training. Tereshkova earned a place on the historic mission and was one of the first cosmonauts recruited without traditional flight-test experience.

At just 26 years old, Tereshkova launched into space aboard Vostok 6, which lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in present-day Kazakhstan under the call sign "Chaika," meaning seagull. Over the course of nearly three days in orbit, she circled Earth 48 times and spent almost 71 hours in space. During the mission, Tereshkova photographed Earth from orbit, monitored spacecraft systems, and regularly communicated with ground control. She also recorded information about her physical condition, helping Soviet researchers better understand how the human body responds to the challenges of spaceflight.

Valentina Tereshkova's Legacy in Space Exploration Today

Tereshkova's flight was about far more than setting a record. At a time when women were largely excluded from many scientific and technical careers, her mission challenged assumptions about who could participate in humanity's greatest adventures. Although Tereshkova and her fellow female cosmonauts were not treated the same as their male counterparts and were used for publicity and propaganda purposes, her mission also carried symbolic importance at the height of the Cold War-era Space Race.

Although it would take nearly 20 years before another woman traveled to space (Svetlana Savitskaya and Sally Ride would later take part in iconic space "firsts" in the 1980s), the Vostok 6 mission helped pave the way for future generations of female astronauts and cosmonauts.

More than 60 years later, Tereshkova's journey remains one of the most remarkable achievements in spaceflight—not only because she was the first woman in space, but also because she remains the only woman ever to make the journey solo.

Amid the recent announcement that Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie Xo, the artist is currently on his Little A** Shed Tour.

During a tour stop in Charleston, South Carolina, Jelly Roll was introduced to Amelia, a young girl who is a Make-A-Wish recipient.

After struggling with Medulloblastoma brain cancer, she has been cancer-free for over a year. Jelly Roll let her come backstage for a special meet and greet, where he revealed how he got his stage name, while explaining that his favorite activity recently is hiking.

“[My mom] didn’t know the difference between a jelly donut and a jelly roll. So I might’ve ended up being a jelly donut if she’d have known the difference,” Jelly Roll said.

Jelly Roll posted a video from the meet and greet on TikTok, and fans were moved by the sweet gesture, unable to stop talking about how inspiring the interaction was.

“You are so wholesome and I love it so much,” one user commented.

“What a cutie I love how patient and caring you were with her,” another said.

During the concert, Jelly Roll performed his song “Only,” which, according to American Songwriter, is a rarely performed track from the artist.

“I don’t think I remember the lyrics, and only a couple of people in the band might know that we’re to try,” Jelly Roll said before performing the song. “And Amelia, if we blow it really bad, we’re sorry, but we’re doing this for you.”

This concert moment happened just days before it was publicly revealed that Jelly Roll filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years, Bunnie Xo. TMZ was the first to report the news, revealing that the singer filed the petition on May 18. In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Jelly Roll said that “irreconcilable differences” were the reason for the split.

Simone Biles is stepping into her swimsuit era.

The iconic American gymnast, 29, who has won 11 Olympic medals and 23 world championship golds, is living that vacation life with her husband, Jonathan Owens. In a new series of snaps posted to her Instagram Stories, Biles sported a high-cut red bathing suit that looked straight out of a '90s episode of Baywatch. With a plunging neckline that showed off her ample curves, Biles posed in the mirror for a selfie while on vacation in Belize. She completed the look with a necklace and an Olympics tattoo on her arm.

In a cheeky nod to her recent body changes, Biles subtly referenced breast implants in a series of Instagram stories back in October. Al Rokerhas a very clear way of letting party guests know the night is over.

During the Tuesday, June 16 episode of 3rd Hour of Today, the hosts moved from summer travel into another seasonal topic: how to get people to leave when a party has gone on long enough.

The group had a few ideas. Then Roker shared a personal example that got everyone laughing.

Dylan Dreyer shared that she loves how Roker puts an end time on a party invite, as it helps tell guests up front that the party runs from 6 to 9 p.m., giving everyone a clear expectation before they arrive.

The hosts also talked about more subtle signals, like turning the music down and clearing plates.

Craig Melvin said he uses work as an excuse to go upstairs and head to bed because he has to wake up early.

But Roker's approach was a little harder to miss.

Roker said there was a party where some of his wife Deborah Roberts' friends were still over, so he came downstairs in his pajamas.

Roker added, "I came down in my pajamas, and said, 'You all can say whatever you want.'"

Dreyer asked, "Was it a onesie?"

Roker responded, "No, it was a nightshirt, I had a little night cap, and a candle, slippers." His cohosts could not stop laughing.

Hoda Kotb's Exit Style Came Up Too

The conversation also turned to Hoda Kotb, who was described as someone who does not need help leaving a party.

They joked that Kotb does the "Houdini," disappearing before anyone realizes she is gone.

Melvin said he had recently presented an award to Kotb at a charity event in New York City and planned to congratulate her afterward. Within a few minutes, he said, she was gone.

The hosts compared her exit style to Batman vanishing from Commissioner Gordon's office.

Little Debbie is rumored to be releasing an all-new snack cake, and as if that wasn't exciting enough, the new treat appears to be a combination of two extremely popular offers: Oatmeal Creme Pies and Fudge Rounds.

The 66-year-old baked goods brand has been quiet about the potential release, but Parade has it on good word that the newcomer is heading to stores alongside other Little Debbie favorites in the near future.

Trusted food blogger Snackolator reported on Tuesday, June 16, that the McKee Foods brand is launching an all-new Fudge Round Creme Pies snack cake very soon.

The leak—which was accompanied by a photo of the product—describes the new treat as featuring the traditional Fudge Round cookie, but instead of chocolate filling, it's sandwiched and drizzled with a vanilla sweet creme icing (presumably, the same kind found in its original Oatmeal Creme Pie).

While there's been no official word from the company, at least not thus far, fans don't seem to care. They're beyond ready to dig into a box, with one very excited fan exclaiming that the company "SHOULD’VE BEEN DOING THESE SINCE FOREVER AGO!!!"

A second declared they're so "ready for them."

"OMGGG," a third cheered before a fourth called it a truly "diabolical" treat.

"Then we gonna need oatmeal chocolate pies," someone else joked, as another suggested that next time Little Debbie transform it into an ice cream sandwich-type treat.

Although the details of its official rollout (including its timing, pricing, and availability) remain unclear, it appears the item may already be on shelves in some stores. At least one shopper claimed to have already spotted the new Fudge Round Creme Pies in stores, replying to the original Instagram post that they: "I saw them at Dollar Tree."

In the meantime, Little Debbie fans have plenty of other original Oatmeal Creme Pie-inspired treats to enjoy, including the new ice cream bars and ice cream sandwiches it released just in time for summer 2026.

Parade has reached out to a spokesperson for comment.
