Joey Lawrence Turns 50, and Fans Are Obsessed With This Zaddy
From teen idol to zaddy. Actor Joey Lawrence recently announced that he’s now a boy dad (with wife Samantha Cope) in a sweet after-Easter Instagram post. The former Blossom star welcomed son Ford Joseph Lawrence on April 6. But it looks like the newborn isn’t the only Lawrence with an April birthday.
Joey turned the big 50 on April 20 and marked his half-century birthday with a shirtless Instagram post that gives ‘dad bod’ a whole new meaning. The black-and-white pics…well, have fans screaming, “Whoa!”
View this post on InstagramLawrence captioned the carousel, which starts with a hunky runway shot, “Walking my way into 50.” Friends, fans, and even some family members are obsessed with the post—and for a very obvious reason. The Melissa & Joey star’s wife even commented, writing, “Well hello,” to which one commenter responded, “We were all thinking that.”
Other comments praised the Dancing with the Stars alum’s youthful look and, um, toned physique, with raves such as, “You might be turning 50, but you look 30, “And looking mighty fine,” and “Ripped, hard chizzled muscle.” Some fans got nostalgic, with one writing, “Wow! Or should I say Whoa! I can’t believe my 90s crush is 50 today!”
And yeah, it’s been a few years since Lawrence was a teen idol. So what’s the former child actor up to now (other than being our favorite zaddy, of course)? Lawrence is still in the spotlight. He hosts the Brotherly Love podcast alongside his IRL brothers Matthew and Andrew Lawrence and is set to co-star in the new movie, The Heart Break, with iconic actress Beverly D’Angelo.
The 50-year-old is also busy, playing the very important role of father. The doting dad now has four children, ranging in age from newborn to 20. His eldest daughter (with ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson), Charleston “Charli” Lawrence, was born in 2006. The family welcomed Charleston’s little sis, Liberty Grace (whom he also shares with his ex), in 2010. Lawrence and Yawn-Nelson split in 2020. He later remarried, tying the knot with his current wife, Samantha Cope, in 2022.
In 2023, the couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Dylan Rose Lawrence. Cope filed for divorce in 2024. But she and Lawrence later reconciled. The pair announced the birth of their second child, Ford, earlier this month.
While fans relish in the shirtless pics, they can also enjoy another birthday surprise. The actor posted a nostalgic bday throwback to the ‘80s (even though he was born in the ‘70s), sharing a Miami Vice-themed clip featuring himself as Crockett and his brothers as Tubbs and a “Guest Star.” Lawrence captioned the video, “Thanks for the best opening titles a big bro could ask for to head into the next decade of my life. Love you guys.” Aww!
View this post on InstagramBest-Selling Author’s Hit Ranked Among ‘Best Books’ of All Time
It is a rare feat for a memoirs to capture both personal hardship and historical reality as vividly as Angela's Ashes.
The bestselling book by Frank McCourt has been ranked among the "best books of all time" on Goodreads, based on votes from readers. Its lasting popularity speaks to the emotional depth of its storytelling and the broader history it brings to life.
Published in 1996, Angela's Ashes recounts McCourt's childhood growing up in Limerick, Ireland, during the 1930s and 1940s, a time marked by widespread poverty, limited opportunity and the lingering effects of economic hardship following Irish independence. Through his eyes, readers experience the realities of working-class life in mid-20th-century Ireland, where families often struggled to survive amid unemployment, poor housing conditions and a rigid social structure shaped by religion and class.
At the center of the story is McCourt's mother, Angela, whose resilience anchors the family despite overwhelming challenges, including the instability caused by his father's alcoholism. The memoir's ability to balance bleak circumstances with moments of humor and humanity helped set it apart, offering a deeply personal lens on a specific historical moment.
"We were poor, but there was a lot of poverty around, and ours was desperate. I think on the hierarchy of poverty, we were at the absolute bottom," McCourt told NPR in 2006. There was the added ingredient of my father's alcoholism, which a lot of the families were poor, but they didn't have the problem, that problem, the alcohol disease that we suffer from because he was uncertain. He was a crazy man when he drank."
The book went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography, further cementing its place as a modern classic. Winning the award is a feat in and of itself, but for a man who grew up in such poverty without a proper education, it was particularly special.
"I always wanted to write. I thought that was a supreme occupation on the face of the earth, to be a writer, to put the words together. And I was always scribbling in notebooks. But I didn’t know what to write because I was ill-educated, ill-informed," McCourt said in a conversation with the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. "I didn't know you could write about yourself. I didn't know. Nobody told us in school. [...] Nobody ever said to us, 'Write about yourself, about your family.' No, we didn't know. We were worthless."
McCourt began writing notes about his mother in a notebook, but by the time he started writing Angela's Ashes, he found he didn't need the notebook at all. "I just started writing, he said."
Angela's Ashes was later adapted into a film of the same name, directed by Alan Parker. The adaptation brought McCourt's story to the screen, visually capturing the stark conditions of his childhood while preserving the emotional core of the memoir.
Decades after its release, Angela's Ashes remains a powerful reminder of how personal stories can illuminate broader historical truths.
With its inclusion in Goodreads' ranking, the memoir stands as a timeless work that continues to resonate with readers through its honesty, resilience and unforgettable portrayal of life shaped by history.

34-Year-Old Stephen King Novel Deemed Worst of All His Books on Goodreads
Not every single book by an author is going to be great. Stephen King is no stranger to deciding that he’s not fond of his past work. In fact, Dreamcatcher helped him recuperate after a car crash, but reading back on his work, he’s not the biggest fan of it.
So, it’s not surprising that there are other works by the horror master that readers don’t enjoy that much. There’s a whole list of “Worst Stephen King Books” on Goodreads, and the users have decided on the “worst” of them all.
‘Gerald’s Game’ Is Considered the WorstPublished on May 1, 1992, Gerald’s Game is the novel that readers hate the most. Well, hate is a strong word. They dislike the most. It comes just ahead of Tommyknockers and Cell, with a score of 9,784 from 99 votes on Goodreads.
It does have the lowest score average, with just 3.59 stars out of 5. Tommyknockers is just ahead with 3.61 stars out of 5.
There has been one live adaptation of the release, a 2017 Netflix movie starring Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood and directed by Mike Flanagan. The movie itself has performed better than the book, although it was considered to be “unfilmable” for the longest time.
This is one of those box-style books. The majority of the story takes place in one room, focusing on one woman's need to survive. We get flashbacks and some strange occurrences in the room she's trapped in, but for the most part, it's one person's narrative, and that doesn't always work for fiction.
A Connection to Another Stephen King NovelWhen Gerald’s Game was originally written, it was going to connect to another King book, Dolores Claiborne. There’s even a mention of her within Gerald’s Game and the connection is the eclipse.
During the process of writing, the book took a life of its own. The connection started to sever, and now it is just a loose one, making it clear that they are supposed to be in the same universe and that’s about it.
For many readers, the novel ended up not being all that scary. This was a story of childhood trauma and abuse mixed in with a tale of survival. There were some scary moments, especially as all the connections were made by the end, but there was nothing quite as horrifying as some of King’s best novels, including It, The Stand, and Misery.

Mathers previously revealed his decision to get sober after a near-fatal overdose in 2007.

The 4 Birth Dates With the Most Unbreakable Willpower
According to the American Psychological Association, willpower is the ability to resist short-term temptations in order to meet long-term goals. A strong will is often one of the best indicators of success in life and overall well-being. We all have days when we don't feel our best. However, the choice to give in or give up should not be based on a temporary bad mood or moment. According to expert numerologists and astrologers, four specific birth dates stand out as those most likely to possess an unstoppable will.

They maintain faith in their potential, even when external circumstances cast doubt. Their willpower manifests as a commitment to avoid trading temporary relief for long-lasting fulfillment. They understand that the best things in life do not happen overnight and appreciate the process of gradually embodying expansion rather than superficially rushing toward it and losing it just as quickly. Their willpower is innate, often arising early in life. They come to terms with the fact that life is not often fair, but choose to remain steadfast by doing their part to stay secure in the potential within their grasp.

9 Best Crew Cut Styles for Your Man To Transform His Look, Stylist Reveals
At first glance, a crew cut might seem like the most straightforward haircut in the book—but don’t be fooled. This classic style is all about precision, and the smallest tweaks can completely change the end result. We’re talking millimeters, guard numbers, taper vs. fade, how much length you leave up top and where the blend hits. One slight adjustment can take a cut from ultra-clean and classic to sharp, modern and statement-making.
That’s where things can get tricky. What looks great on one person can fall flat on another, especially when face shape, hair texture and even hairline come into play. The difference between a cut that feels fresh versus one that feels too harsh or too basic often comes down to those subtle customizations—and knowing what to ask for in the chair.
The good news? There’s a version of the crew cut for every man. From softer, more grown-out takes to crisp and high-contrast fades, the options are surprisingly versatile. Ahead, stylists break down the best crew cut styles to try now—each designed to elevate the look from standard to seriously standout.

What Is a Crew Cut?A crew cut may look simple, but it’s rooted in structure and precision. As award-winning barber and co-founder of Kings Domain Melbourne, Aaron Chan, explains, it’s a "disciplined haircut" defined by a clean, controlled shape.
Essentially, "the back and sides are tapered tight, while the top is left slightly longer and graduated."
That subtle difference in length is what gives the style its signature look—sharp, neat and easy to maintain, but never flat or one-note. The result is a cut that feels timeless, with just enough dimension up top to keep it modern and customizable.
Crew Cut vs. Buzz Cut: What’s the Difference? While they’re often lumped together, a crew cut and a buzz cut are actually quite different in execution. According to celebrity barber (who has styled the likes of Drake and J Balvin) and Fresha partner, Thaddeus, a crew cut is all about contrast and shape, with "variation in length," defined by strands that are "longer on top and shorter on the sides," which gives it a more tailored, structured feel.
A buzz cut, on the other hand, keeps things ultra-minimal with "the same length all over, usually very short," creating a uniform, no-fuss finish.
Simply put, a crew cut offers more dimension and styling potential, while a buzz cut leans into simplicity and ease.

Are Crew Cuts Good for Thinning Hair?Yes, a crew cut can actually work really well for thinning hair—but only when it’s done with intention. As Chan notes, "less is more," when it comes to thin hair, "but a crew cut style needs to be spot on," because the wrong shape or length can just as easily emphasize sparse areas as it can disguise them.
The key is balance, focusing on keeping enough structure on top while avoiding overly aggressive tapering that exposes the scalp too much. And once you’ve got the cut right, styling matters just as much.
Chan recommends incorporating a leave-in thickening treatment into your routine, which can help create the appearance of fuller density and a more even finish through the top.

How To Ask Your Barber/Stylist for the Perfect Crew CutWalking into the barber chair with a clear reference is half the battle. From there, it’s all about getting specific with the shape so your barber knows exactly how to tailor it to you.
Thaddeus recommends describing it as "shorter on the sides with a fade and longer on the top," which helps create that clean, structured crew cut instead of something overly uniform or too harsh. The more visual and direct you are, the easier it is to land on a cut that actually works with your hair type, face shape and everyday styling routine.

How To Style a Crew Cut at HomeOne of the best parts of a crew cut is how low-effort it is to style without looking like you put in no effort at all. After washing, Chan recommends towel-drying first since "it’s easier to style slightly damp hair than dry or soaking wet hair." From there, work in a small amount of product—about the size of a blueberry—using a matte clay, balm or texture paste, focusing it through the top while keeping the sides clean.
Chan suggests working it "from the front to your crown, leaving the sides untouched," then styling it either forward toward the temple or slightly up, depending on the finish you and your barber decided on. The result is controlled, textured and effortlessly sharp.
How Often Should You Trim a Crew Cut?A crew cut might be one of the easiest styles to wear day-to-day, but keeping it looking intentional is really about staying ahead of growth. Because the shape is so precise, even a little extra length can shift the overall balance and soften the clean lines.
As Chan explains, "You should trim a crew cut every two to four weeks, depending on how sharp you like it," since that’s the window where the structure still holds its definition without looking overgrown.
Staying on top of trims also makes styling more effortless in between visits.
"As you are consistent with your trim schedule, it will remain looking sharp," he adds, meaning you’re not constantly trying to fix or reshape it at home. Instead, the cut does most of the heavy lifting for you—keeping everything neat, controlled and easy to maintain with minimal daily effort.
9 Best Crew Cut Styles for Your Man To Transform His Look1. Best Classic Crew CutGEtty
Jake Gyllenhaal's version is the definition of "effortless but intentional," where the crew cut feels clean without losing personality. Chan notes that this classic approach works because it "blends clean tapering with natural texture, showing how the style can feel both effortless and structured."
It’s especially flattering on thicker, straight to slightly wavy hair, where the top can naturally fall into place instead of being overly styled. The result is timeless without trying too hard—just a sharp shape that quietly does all the work.
2. Best Modern Crew CutGetty
Michael B. Jordan's take pushes the crew cut into sharper, more fashion-forward territory with ultra-clean fades that feel intentional from every angle. As Chan puts it, this modern version is all about how the cut "enhances facial structure and delivers a premium, barbershop finish."
The contrast between the tight sides and controlled top makes it especially strong on coarser, tightly coiled hair, where definition and precision really stand out. Basically, it's crisp, confident and built to be noticed.
3. Low-Maintenance Crew CutGetty
Channing Tatum's crew cut leans into that just-stepped-out-the-barber-shop energy even when it’s grown out a bit. Chan describes it as a style rooted in precision, featuring "a tight fade and a slightly longer top for timeless masculinity."
The beauty here is how easy it is to live in—straight, medium-density hair helps keep everything looking clean without constant styling. It’s the kind of cut that works just as well on a gym run as it does at an upscale dinner.
4. Best Polished Crew CutAFP via Getty Images
Justin Timberlake's version softens the crew cut just enough to make it feel refined rather than rigid. This look balances "clean-cut structure with relaxed styling," says Chan, giving it that polished-but-not-overdone finish.
It works especially well on fine to medium, slightly wavy hair, where movement on top keeps the style from feeling too flat. The end result? Controlled, but still easygoing. A total win-win.
5. Best Tapered Crew CutGetty
David Beckham's tapered crew cut is proof that subtle detail can completely elevate a simple shape. The key is in the construction, as it relies on "expert tapering and subtle movement that reinforces its timeless appeal," notes Chan. Thick, straight hair is ideal here because it holds the gradient cleanly while still allowing the top to feel natural.
6. Best Textured Crew CutGetty
This 'do, rocked by Zac Efron, takes the crew cut and gives it a more lived-in, modern finish—all with added texture through the top. According to Chan, it works because it brings "dimension while keeping the sides clean and tight." That contrast is what makes it feel current rather than overly classic. Thick or slightly wavy hair is perfect here, as it naturally builds volume without needing heavy product.
7. Best Grown-Out Crew CutGetty
The grown-out crew cut proves that a little extra length can make the style feel more relaxed and undone in the best way. As seen on Brad Pitt, this variation captures "the effortless, low-maintenance edge without losing structure," says Chan.
It works particularly well on fine to medium hair, where the added length creates the illusion of fullness. So if you're looking for something easy and lived-in, this is it.
8. Best Crew Cut for Thick HairGetty
Tom Hardy's style has strength and density, making the most of naturally thick hair. Chan calls it a great example of a cut that "leans into masculinity and practicality, rooted in its strong, functional origins." The structure works best on dense, straight to wavy hair, where the weight helps maintain the shape. It’s bold, grounded and built for durability.
9. Best Crew Cut for Thinning HairA slightly softer, slightly grown-out crew cut shows how subtle styling can make a big difference for finer hair types. Ryan Gosling's 'do strikes that balance between "effortlessly put-together yet natural enough to feel authentic," notes Chan.
The lighter texture on top helps create the illusion of fullness without forcing volume. It works especially well on fine to medium, straight to slightly wavy hair, where softness becomes the advantage rather than a limitation.

Bass broke up with Fishel two weeks after prom, and the split allegedly pushed him to start accepting himself. "That is the night Lance talks about,” Fishel said. “Where he felt like he was hurting me by not being honest with himself or anyone else about what was going on in his life. And so it was kind of the impetus for him to say, 'I'm going to end our relationship.'"

'Outlander' Fans Get Early Finale Sneak Peek at Star-Studded Paley Celebration (Exclusive)
Outlander will be coming to its highly anticipated conclusion on May 15, when the series finale drops. But fans will get to celebrate the life and legacy of the hit STARZ drama two days earlier, courtesy of The Paley Center for Media.
"Outlander: A Celebration," the latest "PaleyLive" event for Paley, will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 13. The evening will kick off with a screening of the series' very first episode, "Sassenach," followed by a conversation with the show's fan-favorite leads Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan, as well as showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts. And, while the event will be focused primarily on the past and the present, it's only apropos for the time-travel series that attendees get a look into the future, as they'll also be treated to a sneak-peek look at the series finale.
⚔️Don’t miss our Outlander newsletter for access to exclusive news, interviews, insider info from Diana Gabaldon and more – sign up now!⚔️
A conversation with the show's main actors, as well as the boss behind the scenes, sounds incredibly tantalizing, given how massive Season 8 has been so far. While only seven of the ten episodes have aired so far, we've seen plenty happen. Captain Cunningham (Kieran Bew) has emerged as perhaps the show's last "big bad," a new source of discord in Fraser's Ridge. The shocking death of Fergus (César Domboy) in last week's episode truly shows that no character is safe. And that includes Fergus's adopted father himself, as the biggest question going into Outlander's endgame is whether Jamie (Heughan) can prevent his death that has been forecasted in Frank's latest book, and showcase how fate, while fortuitious, can be changed.
“Outlander has become a global cultural phenomenon, captivating legions of fans around the world with its sweeping romance, rich storytelling, and unforgettable characters that fans cannot get enough of,” says Maureen J. Reidy, President & CEO of The Paley Center for Media, in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating the impact of this beloved series and we thank our friends at STARZ and Sony Pictures Television for their support of this special event.”

This tribute to Outlander serves as the latest event in what has been a banner year for Paley, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. So far, Paley members have seen the grand openings of The Paley Archive at the Beverly Hills Public Library and the newly renovated state-of-the-art theaters and reimagined public spaces at The Paley Museum in New York. And the latter has come just in time, as the museum has plenty of upcoming programming this summer to tickle the fancy of any pop culture devotee, including World Cup Watch Parties presented in both English and Spanish and "a dynamic commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary."
Paley Members will be able to purchase special presale tickets for "Outlander: A Celebration" from Tuesday, April 21 at 9:00 am PT to Friday, May 1 at 8:59 am PT, providing both discounts and access to the best seats in the house. Tickets will then go on sale to the public starting at 9:00 am PT on May 1. "Outlander: A Celebration" will be held at 7:30 p.m. PT on Wednesday, May 13.

33 Years Ago Today, Chuck Norris’ TV Debut Faced Near Failure Before Airing
Walker, Texas Ranger was a massive hit in the early 1990s, but before its debut, the Chuck Norris-led TV show nearly never made it to the screen.
Thirty-three years ago today, CBS launched an action crime drama starring the late icon as Sgt. Cordell Walker, the martial arts expert and veteran Texas Ranger.
Officially aired on April 21, 1993, the TV series follows the story of the lead protagonist, who is not only a law enforcer but also someone who has strong moral values.
He helped maintain peace and order in the Dallas–Fort Worth area with his tech-savvy partner, Sgt. James "Jimmy" Trivette, played by Clarence Gilyard Jr.
The duo’s mission was to take down criminals involved in organized crime and drug trafficking.
Adding charm and depth to the series, Norris and Gilyard Jr. were joined by Sheree J. Wilson and Noble Willingham as part of the main cast.
Chuck Norris as Cordell Walker on 'Walker, Texas Ranger.'Amid the stellar lineup of cast, did you know that Walker, Texas Ranger was almost “dead on arrival” before it made its on-air debut?
As noted by Variety, the action drama encountered a major setback that forced the production to shut down temporarily.
At that time, Cannon TV, the original production company financing the series, ran out of budget midway through the filming of Season 1.
Fortunately, the show’s pilot episode, a two-hour premiere, became a huge hit among viewers.
With its weekend time slot, the CBS series received a decent rating of 16.5, which represented the percentage of all TV households in the U.S. that were watching the premiere.
Moreover, the demographics also showed that 30 percent of the viewers were adults over 50, while 25 percent were aged 18 to 49 and only 21 percent were aged 2 to 11.
Due to the show’s initial success, Columbia Pictures Television took notice of its strong performance and teamed up with CBS to take over production, including covering the series’ deficit financing.
Who would have thought that a series that almost never aired would be nominated for an award at the 46th Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Sound Editing for a Series?
With this, Walker, Texas Ranger ran for eight more seasons after wrapping up the series on May 19, 2001, giving viewers a two-hour finale.
Before Norris’ death in March 19, 2026, the iconic actor was named Honorary Texan by the Texas Senate in 2017, for his long-term residency in the state and most especially his notable portrayal of Cordell Walker.

I Tried Bedtime Yoga for 30 Days—Here’s What Happened to My Sleep and Stress
In the world of wellness habits, I feel like there are two morning vs. nighttime "fights" that have reached "tale as old as time" status: showering and movement. I am a nighttime shower person, but I absolutely must exercise in the morning. I am simply too drained and hangry after work to find the motivation.
Running is my main form of exercise (and therapy), but my Peloton got me into stationary biking and strength work for cross-training, injury prevention and boredom-busting. Even before we got our pandemic Peloton, I had long done yoga at least once per week to give my limbs some active recovery and TLC. Peloton introduced me to other forms of yoga, like yin and restorative. Regardless of the app or YouTube channel I was using to find yoga routines, though, I always practiced in the morning—no exceptions.
Simultaneously, I've been on a months-long effort to focus more on my sleep. Blackout curtains and nixing phone scrolling before bed have helped tremendously, but I've learned there's no one "hack" that can prevent 10 p.m. tossing and turning and 3 a.m. wakeups.
So, when my Parade editor emailed me and asked if I wanted to try bedtime yoga for 30 days, I felt it was a wakeup call to mix things up a bit. As a health writer, I know that yoga has tons of research-backed benefits for stress, fatigue and sleep quality. Doing it before bed seemed like an interesting way to tap into those perks while winding down. Still, I have to be honest: I entered the experiment with a dubious mind—does it really matter when I get into child's pose? It turns out, I've slept on bedtime yoga for far too long.
Here's what 30 days of bedtime yoga taught me.

How I Approached Bedtime Yoga for 30 DaysBeth Ann Mayer
While I did not give up my morning workouts, I did commit to adding at least five minutes of yoga before bed each night for a month. I did a mix of Peloton evening flows (if I had time, which I only did on the weekend), plus some poses I knew were relaxing and ideal for the "rest and digest" mode. For the uninitiated, the rest-and-digest state is activated by your body's parasympathetic nervous system. My goal with bedtime yoga was to activate it after long days of working and mothering to relieve stress and lower my heart rate.
Each night, I hauled my yoga mat up from our basement "home gym" (aka where the Peloton and weights are) and put it by my bed. I didn't personally use anything else, but you may benefit from blocks, a blanket or a bolster, depending on what type of yoga you're doing and your flexibility.
On the nights I did not use a Peloton guided yoga class, I held these five poses for one to two minutes:
1. Bridge Pose- Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor, about hip-width distance apart.
- Press through your heels to lift your hips off the floor, keeping your shoulders grounded.
- Squeeze the glutes as you hold, taking deep breaths.
My take: I loved how this one counteracted the hunched-over posture I assume daily while sitting at a desk. I could also essentially feel the blood circulating throughout my legs and lower back.
2. Butterfly Pose- Sit straight on your mat, as if someone is pulling your head toward the ceiling. Pull your belly button in toward your spine.
- Bring the soles of your feet together.
- Allow your knees to open. You'll feel a deep stretch in your hips and inner thighs.
Alternative: You can also take this pose lying down.
My take: My hips needed this pose after hours of either sitting or chasing small kids around.
3. Happy Baby Pose- Lie on your back with your hands on the floor and legs stretched out in front of you.
- Pull your knees in toward your chest, keeping them hip-width apart.
- Grab the outside of your feet with your hands. Keep the soles facing the ceiling and your feet hip-width apart.
- Rock back and forth.
My take: Again, a massive win for my hips. I also loved lying down—it helped get my body into "wind down" mode.
4. Supine Twist- Lie on your back.
- Bring your knees to your chest.
- Lower them to your left side.
- Stretch your arms out in a T-position.
- Look toward your right side.
- Hold.
- Repeat on the opposite side.
My take: Holding this pose allowed me to breathe more deeply and gave my back a gentle stretch, reducing stiffness and promoting relaxation before bedtime.
5. Legs Up the Wall- Lie on the floor with the soles of your feet facing the wall.
- Put your legs up, and pivot your hips until your legs are straight up on the wall.
- Hold and breathe.
My take: This one was my alternative to corpse pose (Savasana). I had read about it in a self-help book, Relaxed Woman, and had been itching to incorporate it into my routine to get blood flowing and soothe stress. It checked both boxes, especially as the month went on and bedtime yoga became a habit.

My Experience With Bedtime YogaBeth Ann Mayer
I enjoyed doing yoga each night before hitting the hay so much that I plan to incorporate it into my routine multiple times per week. Here's how my sleep and stress changed during my 30 days of doing bedtime yoga.
- I felt like I bookended my day nicely. In addition to bedtime yoga, I also did wall yoga each morning before work (and sometimes at lunch). I enjoyed the ritual of bedtime yoga, feeling like it served as something of an "evening commute" that I don't get by working from home. I took my mind and body from "work and mom mode" to "bedtime mode." Research suggests that healthy bedtime routines (read: screen-free) can promote better sleep.
- I felt significantly calmer. Life is stressful, especially in these...um, times. Not scrolling on my phone before bed helped me stop living in headlines in the hours leading up to bedtime. Yoga took it a step further, allowing me to shift my focus to my breathing and body rather than what happened when I was looking at screens for my job each day.
- My tech neck/back decreased. I try to assume a good posture each day, but it's not easy. It's actually almost worse when I'm bending down to pick up kids and toys all day. By working my back each night with gentle poses, I noticed the stiffness decreased, giving me one less pain point as I tried to fall asleep.
- I slept more peacefully. All told, I found that I slept more peacefully, with fewer wakeups. I woke up at my desired time, feeling more physically and mentally refreshed, enabling me to feel more focused and communicate better at work and in mothering.
- It wasn't hard. Even though I'm a long-time morning exerciser, bedtime yoga was super easy to incorporate into my schedule because I didn't try to do a long practice. Instead, I set simple baselines for what "counted." Not needing much equipment and the ability to do it steps from my bed didn't hurt.

Would I Recommend Bedtime Yoga?Beth Ann Mayer
I would absolutely recommend bedtime yoga for anyone looking to improve their stress and sleep. It's a no- to low-cost intervention that doesn't require putting anything into your body. Here are some ways to make bedtime yoga work for you:
- Start small and lean into "good enough." You don't need this luxurious, hour-long practice for bedtime yoga to "count." I set a goal of doing at least five minutes per night—and that was generally all I did. I still experienced benefits. By setting the bar low, I felt accomplished and stuck with it. I met myself where I was at, and it alleviated the all-or-nothing trap I can fall into as a recovering perfectionist.
- Experiment with different moves. Some of my favorite poses may feel too deep for you. Or, you may feel you need to move around a little more or do more seated or standing poses. Bedtime yoga doesn't look one way. It's about finding the poses that support you most. Peruse YouTube, Google and whatever apps you like with an open mind as you pinpoint the most supportive poses.
- Keep form top of mind. There is a "right way" to do poses (and modifications within said poses). Watching the tutorial first can help if you're a visual learner. You may benefit from signing up for classes at a local studio if you have time, if only to get the form right. Poor form can result in injury—not the vibe.
- Journal changes. Bedtime yoga is a habit, and it may take time to notice the most significant results. Journal about how you feel each night and morning. This practice can help you notice small changes—these micro-improvements are absolutely wins worth acknowledging.
- Manage expectations. There's no miracle fix for poor sleep, as I've learned time and again. Bedtime yoga is one tool to improve your shut-eye, but you'll probably need others, such as adjusting your room's temperature and lighting, and managing your screen habits. Bedtime yoga may be a great launchpad for other habits to support your sleep.

2015 Hit Movie Ranked as No. 1 ‘Box-Office Film’ of All Time
A blockbuster from 2015 has officially secured the top spot on one of the most recognized box-office rankings in the world.
According to Filmsite’s updated list through April 2026, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now ranked as the No. 1 “Box-Office Film of All Time,” based on combined domestic and worldwide earnings.
The film, directed by J. J. Abrams, became a global phenomenon upon its release in December 2015. It earned $2.07 billion worldwide and dominated ticket sales across multiple markets, making it the highest-grossing film of that year and one of the biggest commercial successes in cinema history.
A view of the stage and screen during the World Premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.A view of the stage and screen during the World Premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Set three decades after Return of the Jedi, the story introduces a new generation of heroes: Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron, while bringing back beloved characters like Han Solo and Leia Organa. Together, they face a rising threat known as the First Order while searching for Luke Skywalker, the last Jedi.
From its opening weekend, The Force Awakens shattered records. It quickly became the highest-grossing film in the United States and Canada and crossed the $1 billion mark globally in just 12 days. It later surpassed $2 billion worldwide, cementing its place among the most successful films ever released.
Beyond its financial achievements, the film also received strong ratings from audiences and critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 93% Tomatometer score based on 447 reviews, along with an 84% audience score from over 100,000 ratings. These scores reflect broad approval from both critics and moviegoers.
Ten years after its release, The Force Awakens remains one of the most talked-about films in the Star Wars franchise. A 10th-anniversary feature on StarWars.com highlighted how carefully the film was made and revealed several behind-the-scenes details.
Among the fun facts: actor Daniel Craig made a hidden cameo as a stormtrooper, originally labeled “FN-007,” a playful nod to his role as James Bond. Director Abrams later recalled, “He shot all day and was fantastic. It’s his voice too.”
The film also relied heavily on practical effects. Creatures like the luggabeast and happabore required multiple puppeteers to bring them to life, showing the production’s commitment to hands-on filmmaking rather than relying only on computer graphics.
Another surprising detail involved the character Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac. The pilot was originally meant to die early in the film. Abrams explained, “Originally… we just killed him,” but Isaac asked if the character could survive, leading to a change that kept Poe in the story.
Music also played a key role. Legendary composer John Williams returned to score the film, while Lin-Manuel Miranda collaborated with Abrams on a special cantina-style song featured in one scene.
The film marked a new era for the franchise under The Walt Disney Company after its acquisition of Lucasfilm. Though George Lucas was involved early as a consultant, the movie introduced a fresh creative direction.Today, more than a decade later, Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to stand as a defining moment in movie history.

Lucci recently was interviewed by KTLA 5’s morning news, where she discussed her new book La Lucci, her work withJonah HillandKeanu Reeves on Outcome, and her memories of All My Children.
The actress was an original cast member on the ABC soap, where she portrayed the role of the troubled heroine Erica Kane.
Lucci recalled that in the weeks leading up to the cancellation, she was spending time connecting with fans. “I was on the book tour for my first memoir 15 years ago. I had been so amazed by these passionate fans, lining up early in the morning,” she said.
Her comments came after the series had relocated production from New York City to Los Angeles in December 2009, a move that marked a major shift for the show.
“I went back to the studio and gave this pep talk to the crew and said ‘no were good, the fans are out there,’” Lucci recalled. “And suddenly we were canceled.”
On April 14, 2011, ABC announced that after 41 years, All My Children, along with its sister soap One Life to Live, would be cancelled. The series finale aired on September 23, 2011.
Two years later, the series was revived by Prospect Park for a streaming run on Hulu. While several original cast members returned, Lucci did not reprise her role.
However the reboot was short-lived, ending after just 43 episodes.
Since then, fans have continued to call for a revival. Earlier this year, Kelly Ripaannounced that she and her husband Mark Consuelos are developing a potential All My Children project for Lifetime, including two made-for-tv movies. Lucci indicated that she would be open to returning to the franchise and reprising her role as Erica Kane once again.
La Lucci, Susan Lucci’s second memoir is available now.
