Emilie Kiser Breaks Silence and Gives First Interview Since Son Trigg's Death

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 3:44pm

In May of 2025, TikTok star and influencer Emilie Kiser was faced with every parent's absolute worst nightmare. And now more than one year later she's giving her first interview since that harrowing, fatal day.

Speaking on the Jay Shetty podcast, On Purpose, Emilie opened up about the 2025 accident that led to the death of her three-year-old son, Trigg. She spoke candidly and vulnerably about forgiving her husband, Brady Kiser, who was home with Trigg and their other son during the incident, as well as grief and the reality of losing a child while needing to be there for her one who is still alive.

The podcast episode, which was released on June 17th, marks the first time Emilie has had a formal, sit down interview since the death of her son.

Emilie also spoke about how she's found the will to keep going, and it involves a promise she made to Trigg right before he died:

"I made a promise to Trigg, right before we lost him, that I was going to take care of Teddy. That was actually my final promise to him: 'I will take care of your brother.' At that time, I felt like I couldn't. It really just was too much. It felt I couldn't even take care of myself. I'm going to fulfill it, and I'm gonna give Teddy the best life I possibly can, and that means showing up for him, showing up for myself, doing everything I possibly can to make sure that that happens."

What Happened to Trigg Kiser? View this post on Instagram

Trigg was hospitalized on May 12th, 2025 after falling into the family pool at their home in Chandler, Arizona. Emilie Kiser was not home at the time, and her husband Brady was watching both Trigg and their second child, Teddy. Trigg passed away six days later on May 18th.

Following Trigg's death social media exploded with speculation and the Kisers remained relatively quiet following the accident. The Chandler Police Department initially reported that Brady stated he had lost sight on Trigg for "three to five minutes" before finding him the pool. However, video evidence later showed that Trigg had been alone in the backyard unsupervised for upwards of nine minutes, and in the water for seven of them.

Months after the fact, CPD announced that following their investigation into Trigg's death they recommend charging Brady with a Class 4 felony charge of child abuse. However, in July of 2025, the Maricopa County Attorney's Office stated that Brady would not face charges and there was "no likelihood of conviction" against him.

Emilie came back to Instagram that following August with a brief statement via social media: "Loss of this magnitude feels impossible to put into words."

In the year since Trigg's passing, Emilie has kept to social media until today on the Jay Shetty podcast, sharing about her grief journey and warning parents about the realties of drowning for children.

5 Things You Didn't Know You Could Order Off-Menu at Wendy's

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 3:44pm

Fast-food secret menus have become part of restaurant lore. Some chains embrace them, while others pretend they don't exist. Wendy's falls somewhere in the middle. Although the company doesn't officially advertise a secret menu, longtime fans have spent years discovering creative ways to combine ingredients already available in the Wendy's kitchen to create burgers, desserts and over-the-top custom orders that never appear on the menu board.

Part of what makes Wendy's secret menu so appealing is that many of these creations aren't especially complicated. Unlike some fast-food hacks that require employees to decipher a lengthy list of modifications, several Wendy's off-menu items simply combine ingredients the chain already uses every day. In some cases, they're even inspired by discontinued menu items that customers never stopped craving.

Of course, ordering secret menu items always comes with a caveat: availability can vary by location. Some employees may know exactly what you're talking about, while others may need you to explain the ingredients you'd like added. Being flexible—and polite—can go a long way.

While there's no guarantee every location will make every item, these unofficial Wendy's creations have earned a reputation among fast-food fans for offering something a little different than the standard menu.

Off-Menu Wendy's Items

Here are five of the most talked-about Wendy's secret menu orders worth knowing before your next trip through the drive-thru.

1. Cheesy Cheddar Burger

Cheesy Cheddar Burger

Fans of Wendy's discontinued cheddar-heavy burgers have long turned to the Cheesy Cheddar Burger when they're looking for something richer than a standard cheeseburger. The secret lies in adding Wendy's cheddar cheese sauce—usually reserved for baked potatoes—to create a creamier, more indulgent sandwich than the chain's traditional cheese-topped burgers.

Depending on the location, customers may be able to recreate the burger by requesting cheddar cheese sauce on a Dave's Single or another burger of their choice. The result is a messier but undeniably satisfying burger that feels like a throwback to some of Wendy's most beloved limited-time offerings.

2. Barnyard Burger View this post on Instagram

The Barnyard Burger is exactly as excessive as its name suggests. This off-menu favorite combines a beef burger with a crispy chicken filet and bacon, creating a sandwich packed with multiple layers of flavor and texture. The beef delivers Wendy's signature burger experience, while the chicken adds crunch and the bacon provides a smoky finish.

It's one of the chain's best-known secret menu items, and it has appeared on unofficial Wendy's menu lists for years. For customers who struggle to choose between a burger and a chicken sandwich, the Barnyard Burger offers a way to enjoy both at the same time. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even ask for it spicy.

3. Chili Cheeseburger

Wendy's chili has been a menu staple for decades, so it was only a matter of time before someone decided to put it on a burger.

The Chili Cheeseburger combines a traditional cheeseburger with a scoop of Wendy's signature chili, adding extra beef, beans and spice to every bite. It's one of the most logical secret menu items on the list because it combines two of the chain's most iconic menu offerings into a single meal.

While not every restaurant may be willing to make it, its saucy, messy comfort-food appeal may be reason enough to order a cup of chili and a cheeseburger and build your own, just as YouTuber @theendorsement did.

4. Frosty Float @nevinmac

♬ Sugar, Sugar - The Archies

Not every secret menu item has to involve piling more meat onto a burger. The Frosty Float takes Wendy's famous frozen dessert and combines it with a fountain soda to create a drink that's part dessert and part beverage. The concept is similar to a classic root beer float, although some fans experiment with a different soda or Frosty flavors depending on what's available.

The combination creates a creamy, fizzy treat that feels surprisingly nostalgic. It's also one of the easier secret menu items for many locations to accommodate because it relies on ingredients already used throughout the restaurant.

5. Grand Slam Burger View this post on Instagram

If the Barnyard Burger sounds excessive, the Grand Slam Burger takes things even further, even getting called a "crazy monstrosity" by Instagram reviewer the Knockout Kitchen.

This secret menu item, also known as The Meat Cube, is for Wendy's fans who felt like the iconic Dave's Triple just wasn't enough. The burger includes four beef patties stacked together with cheese and traditional toppings, creating a monster burger that weighs in at a full pound of beef. While it isn't an official menu item, it's generally considered one of the more well-known secret-menu burgers because it can be assembled fairly easily in the restaurant.

Honorable Mention: The T-Rex Burger

Posts from the wendys
community on Reddit

No discussion of Wendy's secret menu would be complete without mentioning the legendary T-Rex Burger. The burger originated at a Wendy's location in Canada and featured an astonishing nine beef patties and nine slices of cheese stacked into a single sandwich. Photos of the burger quickly spread online, helping it become one of the most famous secret-menu items in fast-food history.

The catch is that the T-Rex Burger is more legend than practical menu hack. Most Wendy's restaurants don't officially offer it, even as a menu hack. While some locations might be willing to build a version, it's generally something you'll have to DIY by combining three Dave's Triples and assembling it yourself.

Can You Order Secret Menu Items on the App?

Because Wendy's secret menu isn't officially recognized by the company, most of these items won't appear as standalone options in the Wendy's app. However, some can potentially be recreated through menu customizations. For example, adding extra patties, bacon or specialty toppings may allow you to build something similar to a Grand Slam Burger or Cheesy Cheddar Burger.

Other items, such as the Chili Cheeseburger or Barnyard Burger, may require ordering in person and explaining exactly what modifications you'd like. Even then, availability depends on the location and whether employees are willing and able to accommodate the request.

The best approach is to think of the Wendy's secret menu as a collection of customer-created hacks rather than an official list of hidden products. Some locations may happily make them, while others may not. Either way, it never hurts to ask—especially if you're looking to try something beyond what's listed on the menu board.

1976 Debut Single, Originally Given a Risqué Title, Was Released 50 Years Ago Today

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 3:27pm

In the mid-'70s, Blondie released their debut song, but it wasn't a simple process.

"X Offender" was released on June 17, 1976 and was the track that earned the band their record deal. The song, which was co-written by singer Debbie Harry and bassist Gary Valentine, was originally written about a man sleeping with his underage girlfriend.

“It just came to me one night at Max’s [the famed New York City nightclub,]” Valentine said, per Far Out. “I was just sitting there and the melody got into my head so I rushed back to our Blondie loft and picked up a guitar and got it down that night.”

Valentine penned the lyrics, and once Harry heard the track, she jumped on board to tweak the lyrics to make the central character a sex worker, flipping the narrative so it was from the female's point of view.

"It was about a teenager coming of age and having to deal with a statutory-rape charge when he was 17 and then turned 18," Harry explained in an interview with Vulture. "It’s like one of those catch-22s of law. It didn’t have anything to do with selling sex or anything like that. It was a sex offender, but not a sex offender in that he was an aggressive rapist. But he was lumped into this category."

The song's original title was "Sex Offender," but it was changed to "X Offender" after the record label expressed their concerns that it was too vulgar and would cause the band to face radio bans and controversies.

In 2003, late drummer Clem Burke said that "X Offender" was his favorite Blondie song because it "opened up the door" for the band. In the earlier days of their career, Blondie would often close out their concerts with the track.

"I feel we really achieved something with that record," he added. "The first time I heard that on the jukebox at CBGBs was a really elating moment for me, more so than hearing it on the radio," he recalled in a 2003 interview. "Knowing that someone went to the jukebox and played the song and hearing it in the background - I'm big on hearing songs in the background while other things are going on and seeing what it creates."

Here’s How Eating Salmon Actually Impacts Your Heart, According to Cardiologists

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 3:25pm

If one of your health goals is supporting your cardiovascular health, you probably already know that bacon, burgers and steak all need to be eaten in moderation, while plant-based proteins should be front-and-center on your plate.

Scientific research shows a clear connection between a diet high in red meat and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and diabetes. But a diet that prioritizes plant-based proteins, on the other hand, is linked to a decreased risk of these life-threatening health conditions.

Related: So, How Nutritious Is Salmon Really? Registered Dietitians Break Down the Benefits

You may be wondering where fish falls in the hierarchy of heart-healthy proteins, particularly salmon, which is the most commonly consumed fish in the U.S. Unlike meat, which is high in saturated fat, salmon is high in unsaturated fats. When eaten regularly, salmon supports brain health, vision and provides the body with energy.

How does eating salmon regularly impact your heart? Here, cardiologists answer this very question, including how it affects cholesterol.

Related: Here's Exactly What Happens to Your Blood Pressure When You Eat Salmon

Is Salmon Good for Your Heart?

Both cardiologists Parade consulted say that salmon is a heart-healthy protein, especially compared to red meat. “Compared to beef and pork, salmon has lower amounts of unhealthy saturated fat. A decrease in saturated fat helps to lower LDL cholesterol,” says Dr. Heather Johnson, MD, FACC, the director of preventive cardiology for women’s services at the Baptist Health Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute in Boca Raton, Florida.

Dr. Nina Radford, MD, FACC, a cardiologist at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas, Texas, says this too. “Salmon is very low in saturated fat. The vast majority of its fat consists of heart-healthy, unsaturated fats, specifically omega-3 fatty acids like EPA and DHA."

Dr. Radford adds that replacing foods high in saturated fats with foods high in unsaturated fats, like salmon, has a powerful effect on heart health. These benefits include reducing inflammation, lowering the risk of thrombosis (the formation of blood clots inside a blood vessel or the heart) and improving vascular reactivity (blood vessel function).

Related: 7 Foods Cardiologists Always Eat for Heart Health

In fact, salmon (and other seafood sources high in unsaturated fats) are so beneficial for heart health that the American Heart Association recommends eating at least two 3.5-ounce servings of fish a week. (Just don’t fry it, which negates the health benefits.)

Following this recommendation reduces the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure and death from cardiovascular disease. “Including oily fish in the diet provides omega-3 fatty acids and is a great substitute for less healthy protein foods,” Dr. Radford says.

How Does Eating Salmon Impact Cholesterol?

If you have high cholesterol, you may be wondering if eating salmon regularly can help bring your LDL cholesterol down to a healthy range—especially now that you know it’s such a heart-healthy food. According to both Dr. Johnson and Dr. Radford, it absolutely can.

Dr. Radford says that according to scientific research, eating salmon regularly can help lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol as well as moderately raise HDL cholesterol.

Dr. Johnson agrees, adding, “Analysis of over 80 randomized clinical trials demonstrated that healthy consumption of omega-3 fatty acids lowers triglycerides, which are fatty cholesterol molecules, and lowers non‐high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol, which is a measure of bad cholesterol. These changes support a lower risk of heart disease if included as part of a balanced diet and an overall healthy lifestyle.”

The Importance of Eating a Healthy Diet

While eating salmon can positively impact cholesterol, both cardiologists say that this impact will only happen if salmon is incorporated into an overall healthy diet. If you eat salmon regularly, but your diet primarily consists of nutrient-poor, ultra-processed foods, you likely won’t experience a beneficial change in cholesterol—or any of the other heart-healthy benefits that salmon is connected with. Both add that salmon shouldn’t be seen as a replacement for cholesterol-lowering medications either.

“Salmon is a healthy source of protein, but it should be balanced with other healthy proteins during the week, such as lean chicken, turkey and plant-based proteins, while limiting red meat,” Dr. Johnson says. When you’re prepping your salmon at home, Dr. Johnson recommends using olive oil instead of butter to make your meal as heart-healthy as possible.

If you are used to your main protein sources being beef or pork and you start eating salmon regularly instead, Dr. Johnson says you can expect to experience a noticeable change in cholesterol in about six to 12 weeks, as long as the rest of your diet is healthy and you’re exercising regularly. “Significant reductions [in cholesterol] can be seen within one month, with continued modest improvements over the next several months,” Dr. Radford adds.

There’s no question that eating salmon regularly is beneficial not only for cholesterol but also for overall heart health. Incorporating it into your diet will help turn your cholesterol numbers around sooner than you think!

This Beloved Retailer Originated in 1983, and It's Prepping for a Massive 2026 Comeback

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 3:05pm

The 1980s were a golden age for retail, a glorious decade when a trip to the mall wasn't just an errand—it was an event. Kids begged their parents for visits to Toys "R" Us, where Geoffrey the Giraffe practically felt like a celebrity. Shoppers browsed the endless aisles of RadioShack in search of the latest gadgets, flipped through racks at Chess King, and spent hours wandering stores like Waldenbooks and B. Dalton before online reviews and e-readers were even a thing. The mall food court was booming, the neon was bright, and consumerism was having a moment.

Of course, not every beloved retailer survived the decades that followed. Many once-mighty chains have faded into retail folklore, living on mostly through nostalgic social media posts and "remember this?" conversations. But a few have managed to stand the test of time—or at least reinvent themselves along the way.

Take Spirit Halloween, which debuted in 1983. While it didn't become the seasonal powerhouse we know today until later, it's one of those rare retail success stories that's still going strong. And now, as it gears up for its 2026 return, shoppers are once again preparing for that annual ritual: watching an empty storefront magically transform into a Halloween wonderland seemingly overnight.

If anyone needs proof that Spirit Halloween isn't merely hanging on but absolutely thriving, this is it. As the 2026 spooky season slowly emerges, starting with Summerween, the retailer is gearing up for its largest hiring push in history.

Spirit plans to hire more than 52,000 seasonal employees to open over 1,500 locations across the U.S. and Canada for Halloween shopping in 2026. For millions of shoppers, spotting that familiar orange-and-black sign is now as much a part of fall as pumpkin spice and changing leaves. Not bad for a retailer that only sticks around for a few months each year.

How Can You Apply to Work at Spirit Halloween?

If you're looking for part-time or seasonal work, Spirit is a great option for earning a little extra cash. This Is the Best Travel Advice for 2026 and It's the Perfect Time to Take Advantage of it

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 3:01pm

For the first time since mid-March, international flights have finally gone down considerably, but we're not counting on them staying that way.

According to the New York Post, weekly flight tracker Kayak has reported that there are currently deals worth booking if you've been looking for an excuse to go on a global adventure. The platform has seen the international ticket average hit $980 as recently as last week.

Related: Europe Has a New Checkpoint After Passport Control — Here's How to Get Through It Without Missing Your Flight

Why You Need to Book Now

With flight prices reaching the year's second-lowest average, chances are deals won't be around for long, so now's the best time to book travel for 2026. “When you see a price that looks good to you, hop on it. Even though they’re cooling off a bit, you just never know,” said Brian Kelly, founder of travel website The Points Guy, told The Post. “Waiting around in 2026 has not been a great strategy."

This all stems from the underwhelming number of travelers showing up for FIFA World Cup events, which were expected to drive tourism but haven't in the way major players in the airline industry expected. Kelly explained that he's seen "people will just cut back on travel," noting reluctance to travel to and from the US. "People will take a road trip; people will stay domestic." In response, carriers are willing to lower prices to fill flights.

Here's Where the Deals Are

Major tourist destinations are seeing the impact of fuel cost disruptions, according to IATA reports. To offset that, major airlines are buckling as the findings project that "Airlines are expected to achieve a combined total net profit of $23.0 billion in 2026, which is roughly half the previously projected $41 billion. It is also roughly half the $45 billion net profit estimate for 2025."

Places worth looking into right now on various price trackers include Japan, where on Kayak, prices in October from LAX to Tokyo have been as low as $875, and Paris, from LGA to CDG,for as low as $806. Other fares have plummeted for bucket-list destinations like Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Dublin, and Stockholm.

Based on reports earlier this year, the key to finding the most affordable month to travel is to look at dates. Melanie Fish, head of public relations for Expedia, detailed in a Business Wire report on Expedia 2026 Air Hacks that "new opportunities are opening up for leisure travelers to save by choosing smarter travel days" and cited Fridays as the cheapest days to fly.

For the first time in months, you can travel with an advantage and seek out those destinations you have been wanting to hit. We recommend using Kayak or Google Flights to get a sense of prices to the places you want to visit, and start from there. Just be advised that these low fares will fly quickly, so happy hunting.

Rapper Lil Nas X made his return to social media after more than two months away, where he shared a vulnerable life update.

"There's no way I'm going to be able to make this not awkward. Because it's really awkward for me," Lil Nas X — real name Montero Lamar Hill — began in a Wednesday, June 17, Instagram announcement.

"First, where I've been. I've been in rehab for a few months," he said. "And since then I've been, you know, back at home. Whether it's in Atlanta with my family or in Los Angeles with myself...trying to ground myself down to Earth and get out of my head."

The "Old Town Road" artist added that he now has a therapist and a psychiatrist.

"Which has been really helpful. When I got my bipolar disorder diagnosis—I feel like I had known for like the past few years, but I wouldn't admit to it because I didn't want to have to take medication and have people think different of me," he explained.

"I'm already Black and gay," he laughed. "Damn, God, give me like—I'm like living life on like extreme hard mode."

'Love Island USA' Vote: Fans Reveal Who They Want to Go Home in Week 3

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 2:40pm

The power is back in Love Island USA's viewers' hands. They must vote for their favorite couples to keep them safe. That leaves the power of who goes home on the islanders or on who gets the fewest votes. But that isn't stopping viewers from saying who they want to go home in week 3.

Spoiler alert for Love Island USA Episode 13!

Many 'Love Island USA' Fans Want Kenzie and Corbin to Go Kenzie Brooke Annis and Corbin Mims in 'Love Island USA'

Ben Symons/Peacock

Episode 13 had a unique recoupling ceremony. Islanders wrote a letter and put it into the mailbox of the person they wanted to be in a couple with for week 4.

Voters matched Kenzie Annis with bombshell Caleb McDaniel in the last ceremony. He fit her cowboy type, but she also had a connection with her former partner, Corbin Mims. She chose Corbin in the June 16 episode, and fans aren't supporting them online.

Love Island USA's Instagram account posted a video of Ariana Madix lip-syncing to one of the islanders saying, "This is tea for me." The commenters are showing their hopes for the voting results, which will be released on Thursday.

Related: ‘Love Island USA’: Who Is Tefi Pessosa, Season 8’s Aftersun Host?

"Kenzie and Corbin are gonna be listening to some amazing white noise on that plane," one of the most-like comments read.

"I hope y’all send Kenzie and Corbin home to go make a baby already , it’s long overdue. [Between] , this season is not Tea for me," another person wrote.

"The best couple would be Kenzie and a suitcase [in my opinion]," a fan commented.

Some fans were upset with how Kenzie handled being interested in Caleb and Corbin this week. Reddit fans also didn't like how Kenzie told newcomer Jen Terry about her secret kiss with Corbin, but refused to tell Sol Dean. They don't understand why Kenzie would trust one and not the other.

"Sol, those are not your friends," a popular comment on a thread read.

"Same and that just confirmed to me also that she only befriended Sol bc she was pissed at Melanie for exploring Corbin," one commented claimed.

"After she sat there and told Sol she could always talk to her and vice versa! Get this moron out," another viewer wrote.

Kenzie's recoupling choice left Caleb, 21, to match with Sol. They are a newer couple who were previously focused on other connections. Sol was matched with Sincere Rhea after America's last vote.

Caleb and Sol would be one of the most vulnerable couples because of this. But it's unclear how the next dumping would be determined. The islanders usually make that decision, and it could be split between genders.

The reaction online is a good predictor of every couple's chance to win the $100,000 prize at the end of the season. Kenzie needs to fix her public opinion.

The next episode of Love Island USA will air on Thursday at 9 PM ET, as America’s decision is revealed.

Jamie Lynn Spears Thought Her Daughter Had Died After a Near-Fatal ATV Accident

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 2:27pm

Jamie Lynn Spears is looking back on the terrifying day she thought she had lost her daughter Maddie in an ATV accident, and the "miracle" that she survived.

The Sweet Magnoliasactress, 35, reflected on the near-fatal accident her now-18-year-old daughter suffered in 2017 during an interview with PEOPLE published on Wednesday, June 17, revealing that a priest was even called to administer Maddie's last rites before she made an incredible recovery.

"That was the day I thought I'd lost my daughter," said Spears, who noted that "against all odds," her daughter "fought" to be here today.

It seemed like a normal day on the Louisiana property of Spears and her husband, Jamie Watson, when 8-year-old Maddie took a turn on her ATV and ended up underwater in a pond.

"We were watching her, and we still don't quite know if she was dodging a dog or what it was," Spears recalled. "She went in the water and me, my father-in-law and my husband [Watson] ran as fast as we could to go jump in to get her out, but she was stuck under the ATV."

Paramedics were called to free Maddie from under the ATV, but when they managed to pull her out of the water, Spears said it was "really not a sight anybody wants to see."

"At that point, she was not breathing," she recalled. "We thought that she had passed."

Maddie was airlifted to a hospital, where she remained in a coma for two days until a priest was called to her bedside to administer her last rites.

“He comes in, and she physically sits up in all her restraints and tubes,” the Zoey 101 alum shared. “I'm screaming for the doctors, like ‘Come in here now!' Even the priest was like, 'I've never seen anything like what's happening.' I knew she was in there and felt all of us praying. We were given a miracle, and I don't take it for granted."

Almost a decade later, Maddie told the outlet that she didn't remember the accident, but that her family's faith got "a lot stronger" through her recovery. "In the end, I think such a negative experience affected us positively," she said.

‘Game of Thrones’ Fans Just Hit a Frustrating Milestone Waiting for ‘The Winds of Winter'

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 2:25pm

While publisher The Folio Society tried to hype people up for the Game of Thrones deluxe edition, the wait for The Winds of Winter by George R.R. Martin just passed a devastating and frustrating milestone.

June 16, 2026, marked 5,543 days since the fifth novel, A Dance with Dragons, was published. That wait is already bad enough, especially with hints here and there throughout that time that the sixth book would be published. Those hints have long since stopped, with Martin not even having an update on the progress.

However, that time is far more frustrating than it initially seems. It’s also the exact same amount of time between the publication of Game of Thrones in 1996 and A Dance with Dragons in 2011. Fans were quick to take to Reddit to share their annoyance as they realized that they got five books within that time frame, as well as the first season of the TV series.

Since then, Game of Thrones fans have sat through seven more seasons of the TV series, two seasons of House of the Dragon, and a season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The third season of House of the Dragon is set to premiere on June 21, 2026, and it’s clear that The Winds of Winter isn’t coming out during that time.

To make matters worse for fans, The Folio Society hyped up the release of the new deluxe edition of Game of Thrones, which will be released on July 14, 2026. As stunning as it is, it’s no consolation for the next part of the story.

View this post on Instagram

The publisher did hint at something else coming soon. While fans hope that it’s some sort of update about The Winds of Winter, many others note that they’re probably delusional to even think about the sixth installment. So far, The Folio Society hasn’t announced what this Seven Kingdoms news is, and there are some predicting that it will be some sort of 30th anniversary deluxe edition, since the first novel was released on August 1, 1996. Instead, the focus has moved onto Moby Dick, which also has special editions being released.

Martin has previously looked back on the time that it took him to write some of his novels. The third book, A Storm of Swords, took just a year to write, despite being 1,000 pages, and Martin admits that he doesn’t really know how he managed it now.

He has also admitted that he doesn’t always feel in the mood to write Winds, especially with so many other projects that he’s working on. However, he knows that the sixth installment has to be the priority, saying in a 2026 interview, “I do think if I can just get some of these other things off my back, I could finish The Winds of Winter pretty soon. It’s been made clear to me that Winds is the priority, but
I don’t know. Sometimes I’m not in the mood for that.”

It’s not a hopeful update considering the recent milestone.

This New England Hidden Gem Was Just Named the Best New Bar in America

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 2:21pm

Tucked away on a quiet street in Providence, Rhode Island, there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it unassuming door that, for those in the know, takes you to a standout cocktail spot that was just given one of the highest honors in the food and beverage world: a James Beard Award. Loma, which first opened in 2024, won the Best New Bar prize from the prestigious culinary awards on June 15, cementing its place among the industry’s greats.

Loma has quickly become a hometown favorite with its innovative menu that pays homage to Hispanic culture through finely tuned cocktails featuring ingredients you’d be hard-pressed to find on menus outside of Latin America countries. As an immigrant from Central America, seeing ingredients like Salvadoran cream and nances, a fruit that some say tastes like a mix between bananas and lychee, but to me just tastes like home, at the forefront of an elegant spirits program feels like walking into a family gathering. Couple that with the rotating selection of classic salsa, boleros, and Latin jazz playing in the background of the intimate space, and I’m back at my grandparents’ house in San Salvador.

From the malty 015 cocktail, made with reposado tequila, sherry, corn silk, sauternes, burnt tortilla, coffee bean, buckwheat, and honey, to the tart and effervescent 013 mocktail, with hibiscus, buzz button, aji amarillo, and hoja de mango soda, the drinks are creative and elevated, but show a sense of whimsy and fun that’s a credit to co-owners Leishla Maldonado, Osman Cortave, and Yefri Cortave. The trio makes customers, both new and returning, feel like old friends, truly embodying Loma’s ethos of helping guests feel like they’re having drinks at someone’s home bar.

Spirits are featured monthly, so don’t be surprised to find new favorites with every visit, just like you would if you were having a cocktail at a friend’s house. In fact, patrons who can’t quite decide what to drink are encouraged to strike up a conversation with the bar staff, who can make you a custom off-menu cocktail based on your preferences.

Walk-ins aren’t just welcomed at Loma– there are no reservations for the 16-seat bar that holds no more than 25 people in the Federal Hill neighborhood of the Rhode Island capital. With prices coming in at $12 and $15 for mocktails and cocktails, respectively, the warm and inviting environment makes for an unforgettable experience. Grab a spot at the tiny bar, or get cozy with other patrons on the long banquette seating. With amber windows, warm wood, terracotta tiles, and candles lighting the room, the space’s decor cocoons you in a caramel glow, transporting you with its timeless sophistication.

On the heels of Loma’s historic James Beard Awards win, the bar posted a heartfelt note of gratitude on Instagram, thanking their families, guests, and the Providence community alike amid the “surreal” moment. “We come from immigrant and working class families and were raised by people who taught us the value of hard work, but also understood how dangerous it can feel to take a chance on yourself when failure isn’t just disappointing. it’s something we can’t afford. Opening LOMA felt like betting everything we had on an idea and ourselves,” they wrote, sharing that they “do this because we believe in our traditions, we believe in the stories, and that the hospitality of our cultures deserve to be celebrated with pride.”

Beloved Classic Rock Ballad Gets a Haunting New Version 48 Years Later

Wed, 06/17/2026 - 2:11pm

Fans of classic rock and harmony-driven folk music have a new reason to listen closely.

Girl Named Tom, the sibling trio that made history as the first group to win The Voice, has released a live acoustic version of Kansas' enduring classic "Dust in the Wind," offering listeners a stripped-down take on one of rock's most beloved songs. The release serves as the first preview of Dust to Dust (Live Acoustic Versions), which arrives June 25.

The new recording revisits a song that already holds special significance for the Ohio siblings. Back in 2021, Bekah, Joshua and Caleb Liechty performed "Dust in the Wind" during "Dedication Week" on The Voice, delivering the song in honor of their grandmother Jean, who was living with dementia.

Their performance became one of the season's standout moments.

"This was magical," coach John Legend said after the performance, calling the trio's lead vocal "haunting" and praising their intricate harmonies. Coach Kelly Clarkson agreed, saying the group brought a darker, more emotional quality to the song and predicting they could go on to win the competition.

She was right.

Just weeks later, Girl Named Tom became the first trio ever to win the American version of The Voice, giving Clarkson her fourth coaching victory.

Why 'Dust in the Wind' Still Resonates Nearly 50 Years Later

Originally released by Kansas in 1977 on the album Point of Know Return, "Dust in the Wind" remains one of the most recognizable songs in classic rock history.

Written by Kansas guitarist Kerry Livgren, the song began as a fingerpicking exercise before evolving into a meditation on mortality, time and the fleeting nature of life.

The track reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978, becoming Kansas' highest-charting single and eventually earning triple-platinum certification in the United States. Even today, it remains a staple of classic rock radio and one of the band's signature songs.

The song also marked a departure from Kansas' progressive-rock sound. While the band was known for ambitious epics and arena-rock favorites like "Carry On Wayward Son," "Dust in the Wind" succeeded with little more than acoustic guitars, violin and a deeply reflective lyric.

New Album Arrives June 25

According to Girl Named Tom, the upcoming collection of acoustic recordings helped bring the trio "back to the heart of each song."

The project follows the group's April 2026 album Dust to Dust and offers fans a more intimate look at the material through live acoustic performances.

The trio has built a devoted audience through its harmony-rich blend of folk, Americana and acoustic pop. Formed in 2019, the siblings first gained national attention with their four-chair-turn audition on The Voice before going on to win season 21.

Fans will have plenty of opportunities to hear the group perform live this year.

Related: Beloved Rock Album Is Climbing the Charts for the First Time Since Singer’s Death

On its website, the band promises audiences an "unforgettable evening" featuring new songs, stories and fan favorites, while noting one compliment they hear often: "You sound even better live than you did on TV."

Upcoming dates include appearances in Michigan, Indiana, Louisiana and Tennessee, along with a lengthy fall run alongside Vitamin String Quartet. The tour will stop in cities including Washington, Atlanta, Charlotte, New Haven and Columbus.

For a band built on family harmonies, revisiting "Dust in the Wind" feels especially fitting. Nearly five decades after Kansas turned the song into a classic, Girl Named Tom has found a fresh way to remind listeners why its message still resonates.
