These 4 Birth Months Attract Success on 8/8's Lion's Gate Portal

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 4:54pm

The Lion’s Gate is the most powerful portal of the year, which arrives on August 8th, or 8/8. The astrology and numerology aligned with Lion’s Gate is ideal for manifesting success. Astrologers say that Sirius, the fixed “Dog Star” of brilliance and ambition, perfectly aligns with the sun on this magnetic day to create the Lion’s Gate Portal. The sun emboldens all of Sirius’ positive attributes to enhance ambition and call in new opportunities to manifest wealth. Fame and notoriety could follow as well. Meanwhile, numerologists claim that the powers of 8/8 amplify the affluence and authority attuned with this portal. Overall, the astrological and numerological factors combine to create a dynamic, influential period where anything could happen.

Everyone will benefit from the Lion’s Gate Portal, but there are four birth months who can jump timelines during this powerful period. These four birth months have ample opportunities when they embrace the astrological and numerological energies. Read on to find which birth months are affected and how they can manifest success on 8/8.

4 Birth Months Manifest Success on 8/8

Check for the month you were born for pro insights.

January: This Is Your Big Break

January isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty being co-ruled by the Saturnian signs, Capricorn and Aquarius. Their Saturnian nature naturally aligns January with hard work, duty, and responsibility. January has already spent months working toward their personal and professional goals. Persevering against all odds hasn’t been easy, but January’s hard work finally pays off starting on August 8th. Others might publicly recognize January for their efforts, or they could even achieve a long-awaited goal. Regardless of what happens, this is only the start of what’s to come. January should take the Lion’s Gate Portal as their sign to keep going, because their lucky break is right around the corner.

April: Fortune Favors the Bold

There’s nothing April cannot do with the Lion’s Gate Portal on their side. People born during this month rarely back down from something they want to do or achieve, thanks to being influenced by  Aries’ instincts and Taurus’ tenacity. Unlike most, April has the courage to start over and try again. Doing so isn’t necessarily easy, but failure isn’t an option for this birth month. Thankfully, their bravery and boldness is rewarded during the Lion’s Gate Portal. The astrological and numerological energies align to enhance April’s ambition. Anything is possible. All April has to do is set their sights on their next goal and take action—the Lion’s Gate Portal will handle the rest.

July: Break Glass Ceilings

Individuals born during July are usually cautious and conscientious about their endeavors. Their intuitive Cancerian spirit and passionate Leo heart only commits to pursuits that feel genuinely aligned. As a result, July is selective about what they do and when they start. However, July’s deeply committed once they know what they want to achieve. This birth month is asked to be confident and brave as they enter the Lion Gate’s Portal on 8/8. The fiery astrological energy combined with the influential numerological energy emboldens July. Instead of hemming and hawing over what to do, July will feel uniquely self-assured in their endeavors. Lion’s Gate assures July to have full confidence in their pending success, which will ultimately push July to break glass ceilings in the coming months.

October: Choose Yourself & Your Success

Those born in October struggle with pursuing their goals and ambitions, because their Libran and Scorpionic energy keeps them deeply invested in other people's aspirations. October would much rather help a friend, family member, or colleague out before putting themselves first. Thankfully, the self-focused energy of the Lion’s Gate Portal will affirm that this is October’s time to prioritize their dreams. October might feel unsure about being more self-focused. Choosing themselves and their journey over helping everyone else accomplish their goals may inspire guilt and trepidation, but these feelings are temporary. October will see immediate results once they decide that their dreams and goals come first. Let Lion’s Gate be October’s sign to choose themselves, and ultimately, their success.

Why Dwayne Johnson Isn’t Phased by the Live-Action 'Moana' Stumble

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 4:51pm

DwayneJohnson is speaking out in support of the live-action Moana.

The 2026 film has received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office. Johnson shared his perspective on the situation with People

“Our first two reviews came out,” Johnson recalled. “I’ll never forget it … They were amazing. I was like, ‘Wow.’ [Then] it went another way, as sometimes happens. That’s just the way it goes because we’re in this business.”

The 54-year-old actor, also known as the Rock, voiced the demigod Maui in Disney’s original Moana (2016) and Moana 2 (2024). He reprised his role in the remake that hit theaters on July 10.

The live-action Moana has made over $263 million globally with a production budget of $250 million and an estimated $120 million marketing budget. The summer release earned a 31% approval rating from critics and an 88% approval rating from audience reviewers.

“[My wife and I] had a lot of these conversations at home, at the kitchen island late at night when the babies are asleep,” Johnson recalled. “The challenge was, ‘OK, let’s remember, though, what’s going to be beyond this opening weekend. Let’s remember what’s happening right now and the noise that’s happening right now.’”

Moana was directed by ThomasKail and starred DwayneJohnson, FrankieAdams, RenaOwen, JohnTui, and CatherineLaga’aia

“If you love it, great. If you don’t, no problem,” says Johnson about the 2026 film. What “really mattered,” he said, was that “the culture really stood up.”

Moana is set on the fictional island of Motunui and is heavily influenced by Polynesian culture. This is “why the movie was made,” according to Johnson.

The Smashing Machine actor is Samoan on his mother’s side. “Because of me and our kids who can now look at the big screen and go, ‘That’s us for the first time on a big screen. That’s us up there. How cool is that?’”

Looking at a cluttered space can often feel overwhelming. If you feel like your home constantly looks disorganized no matter how much you clean, the culprit might be the lack of storage space. A freestanding cabinet or bookshelf can help tame the chaos, that is, if you have the real estate for it. For those who don’t have much room in their home but need a little extra storage, an organizer cart is often a more efficient choice. Walmart carries a plethora of storage carts, and one of our favorites is this Best Choice Products 3-Tier Slim Rolling Cart

Featuring a stunning wicker design, this versatile rolling cart is a chic and practical storage solution for any room, whether it be your bathroom, living room, laundry room, kitchen, or bedroom. While high-end home goods retailers carry similar carts with the same design, you can currently score this one on sale for less than $70. Normally $100, this storage cart is now marked down to just $65 in a natural tan hue and a chestnut brown style.

The Rap Icon Who Helped Kurupt Get Clean

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 4:37pm

Underneath hip-hop's tough exterior, there's often a quieter story of empathy and Kurupt just shared one powerful example.

Kurupt recently revealed that Eminem stepped in during one of the most difficult periods of his life, helping cover the cost of his rehabilitation treatment as he battled addiction.

According to Rolling Stone, the Tha Dogg Pound rapper opened up about Eminem’s support during an interview with SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning, sharing that the Detroit rap legend helped make sure he could get the treatment he needed.

Kurupt, whose real name is Ricardo Brown, has been open about his struggles with alcoholism, which at one point became so severe that he spent three weeks in a coma. During that challenging time, he said both Eminem and longtime collaborator Dr. Dre reached out to offer their support.

Dr. Dre was the first to check in on Kurupt, offering encouragement and reminding him that everyone faces difficult battles. According to Kurupt, Dre later passed along a message from Eminem, who wanted to help him enter rehab privately and focus on his recovery.

View this post on Instagram

“You know these things cost bread, so Em put the cheese up for it,” Kurupt said, explaining that Eminem helped cover the expenses of his treatment. Kurupt said he was deeply moved by Eminem’s generosity. “That was really special to me,” he shared, adding that Eminem’s support came unexpectedly and meant a great deal during a painful chapter of his life.

The gesture carried even more meaning because Eminem has publicly discussed his own struggles with addiction, including his near-fatal overdose in 2007. His willingness to help Kurupt reflected a shared understanding of the challenges that can come with recovery.

Now focused on his health and music, Kurupt is continuing his creative journey. The rapper recently released Tales From My Hood, a collaborative project with DJ Battlecat, and is preparing additional releases that highlight his continued influence in hip-hop.

Decades into their careers, Eminem and Kurupt’s story is a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful collaborations happen outside of the recording studio.

Nicolas Cage’s Stunning Transformation Into Football Icon John Madden Has Fans Doing a Double Take

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 4:33pm

Nicholas Cage is almost unrecognizable in costume as football icon John Madden.

Cage, 62, was born into the iconic Coppola family and kicked off his career with roles in the teen comedy hit Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Martha Coolidge‘s cult-classic Valley Girl. However, he soon proved his acting chops with roles in films like Raising Arizona. His Academy Award-winning role as a self-destructive alcoholic opposite Elisabeth Shue in 1995’s Leaving Las Vegas went down in film history, as did his several classic action flicks like Con AirFace/Off, and Gone in 60 Seconds. They’re still quoted endlessly to this day!

But in his latest project, David O. Russell's Madden, Cage plays American football coach and sports commentator John Madden and has once again transformed himself.  Set to land on Prime Video Nov. 18, the film isn't going to a theatrical release nationwide, says Variety. But that doesn't mean you won't get a kick out of the first shots of Cage as Madden in the film, which also stars Christian Bale as Al Davis, Kathryn Hahn as Madden's wife Virginia, and John Mulaney, Sienna Miller and Shane Gillis.

Take a look at the photos of Cage as Madden below:

Cage And His Wife, Riko Shibata, Look So In Love

Gilbert Flores / Getty Images

When he's not working in front of the camera, Cage is a devoted husband to his young wife, Riko Shibata, 31.

These days, Cage is still having regular hits at the box office, like 2024’s horror film Longlegs. But in a unique twist on his storied career, the film legend is making the leap to TV, taking on his first leading television role. The actor hit the red carpet back in May at the world premiere of Amazon Prime Video’s Spider-Noir at the Regal Times Square in New York City. Joined by Shibata, whom he married in 2021, the actor looks confident and happy. The duo held hands as they worked it for the cameras.

What is Spider-Noir About?

A live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Noir tells the story of Ben Reilly, played by Cage, a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero, according to a release.

Spider-Noir premiered worldwide on May 27, 2026. In a unique twist, Spider-Noir is available to stream in two ways: In “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color,” so audiences can choose their own adventure to watch.

Check out the black-and-white trailer for Spider-Noir below.

Jeremiah Duggar and Wife Hannah Secretly Welcome Their 1st Son

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 4:32pm

It’s a boy! Jeremiah Duggar and his wife Hannah quietly welcomed baby number four. Unlike other celeb parents, the former 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On reality TV star did not publicly reveal the pregnancy.

The couple, who have three other children (three-year-old Brynley, two-year-old Brielle, and 15-month-old Emery), announced the birth of their fourth baby on August 7 in a joint Instagram statement.

“The sweetest moments we’ve ever known. Life feels busier than ever, yet we find ourselves trying to slow down just to soak in these days with our littles. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.” The pair also added a tiny blue heart, leading their fans to believe this is the first boy for the family.

View this post on Instagram

While the post doesn’t directly announce their son’s birth, the photos tell the whole story. In a couldn’t-be-cuter carousel, the Duggars share several sweet snapshots of themselves with their three girls and the brand-new baby.

The non-announcement announcement seemed to confuse some of the family’s fans. One commenter wrote, “Um is that a boy. I thought Jeremiah and Hannah had 3 girls,” while another questioned, “Congratulations. Boy?”

One fan focused on the four-under-four with a message for Hannah, “Congratulations! Didn't even know you were pregnant again. The baby is beautiful like the others but please give your body a break before the next one. I’m sure you deserve a good break.”

Everything online is controversial, and somehow this sweet family moment is no exception. This comment set off a firestorm of clap-backs: “Unsolicited advice from a stranger. Nice”, “Please mind your business because she nor anyone asked your opinion,” and “Doesn’t give anyone the right to tell her what to do with her body!”

The comments kept coming: “You do believe that’s a decision between her, her husband, and her physician. Why on earth do you feel that you need to express something like that? It’s like assuming they are not intelligent people and that is very rude,” and “A relative of mine had 17 kids, most likely one every year, and was completely healthy no issues.”

Of course, Jeremiah is famously number 11 of the 19 Duggar children.

Along with the backlash over one fan's comment, the rest of the post was packed with well wishes. Others wrote, “Hannah are you kidding me? I’m so excited for you that was a big big secret you kept. I just adore you guys and your little family!” and, “Finally a boy.”

1977 'White-Hot' Fleetwood Mac Smash, Called the 'Most Iconic Breakup Album of All Time,' Is Finally Giving Up Its Secrets

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 4:13pm

One of the most celebrated albums in rock history is getting a lavish new tribute.

Motorbooks has announced "Fleetwood Mac and Rumours: 50 Years," a new hardcover by music journalist Andrea Swensson that explores the creation, legacy and lasting cultural impact of Fleetwood Mac's landmark 1977 album Rumours.

Scheduled for release on Oct. 27, the 176-page volume features more than 250 photos, along with new insights into the recording sessions, the band's turbulent relationships and the songs that helped make the album a phenomenon.

The book describes the experience of hearing Rumours for the first time as being "pulled into the intimate space where they created the most iconic breakup albums of all time," capturing the emotional honesty that has kept the record resonating across generations.

Swensson traces Fleetwood Mac's evolution from its early years through the Lindsey Buckingham-Stevie Nicks era before diving deep into the making of Rumours, which was released on Feb. 4, 1977.

The book revisits the emotionally charged recording sessions that produced enduring classics including "Dreams," "Go Your Own Way," "Don't Stop" and "The Chain," while also exploring the blockbuster tour that followed and the album's remarkable cultural afterlife.

Beyond the music itself, the author examines how heartbreak, creative tension and extraordinary chemistry combined to produce an album that has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide and continues to find new audiences nearly five decades later.

Among the behind-the-scenes stories featured in the book are new details about several of the album's best-known tracks.

Readers learn that Buckingham drew inspiration from the Bee Gees' "Jive Talkin'" while shaping the rhythmic feel of "Second Hand News." The book also revisits the creation of "Dreams," which Nicks famously wrote in less than an hour before the band developed the arrangement that same night.

Christine McVie later recalled initially thinking the song sounded "really boring" when Nicks first played it on piano, only for Buckingham to transform it by crafting three nearly identical chord sections that gave the finished recording its hypnotic flow.

With hundreds of photographs and a track-by-track exploration of one of rock's defining albums, "Fleetwood Mac and Rumours: 50 Years" offers fans a new opportunity to revisit the record that continues to shape popular music nearly 50 years after its release.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner Share Loved-Up Photos From Family Getaway in Iceland

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 3:43pm

It’s summer vacation time. And with just a few more weeks until school starts, celeb parents are pulling out all the stops, treating their families to luxury trips.

WhileIvanka Trump’s big brother, Donald Trump Jr., was enjoying warm weather, sandy beaches, and a whole lot of lobsters on a tropical Bahama getaway with his wife Bettina Trump, two youngest children (11-year-old Chloe Trump and 13-year-old Spencer Trump, with ex-wife Vanessa Trump), and a closeknit group of friends over the weekend, she was struggling to stay warm on a chilly trip to Iceland. That said, based on the pics, Ivanka and her brood had an absolutely amazing time enjoying the lush green scenery.

Donald Trump’s eldest daughter shared a carousel of family photos from her vacation, starting the series off with a sweet snapshot of herself and husband Jared Kushner in a romanticOutlander-worthy embrace.

Along with a few selfies and cute couple’s pics, Ivanka also posted a family portrait featuring all three of her children: 15-year-old Arabella Kushner, 12-year-old Joseph Kushner, and 10-year-old Theodore Kushner

View this post on Instagram

Fans, friends, and a few famous followers flocked to the post, gushing over the fab family and equally impressive backdrop. Elon Musk’s mom, Maye Musk, commented, “Gorgeous photos”; Ivanka’s new sister-in-law, Bettina Trump, added a simple “Stunning”; and Ambassador and Chief Protocol of the United States, Monica Crowley, wrote, “Perfect.”

Even though the Trump-Kushners were bundled up, wearing boots and jackets in Ivanka’s first Iceland getaway post, she later shared a…let’s just call it, less covered-up pic. In a second Instagram carousel, Ivanka added a revealing photo of herself wearing an icy blue bikini.

View this post on Instagram

And if you’re wondering why someone would wear a bathing suit in Iceland, there’s a very good reason. Instead of quickly jetting off to a tropical paradise for a seaside trip, the Trump-Kushner clan visited the Blue Lagoon in Iceland.

The famous geothermal spa near Grindavik’s mineral-rich water is a tepid 98 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit year-round, making it the perfect way to spend a cool summer day. While it’s currently the warmest time of the year, Iceland’s July and August temperatures typically stay in the mid-50s.

1965 Iconic Ballad, Covered by Linda Ronstadt, Is Still an Inspirational Hit 61 Years Later

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 3:26pm

Some heartbreak songs never stop finding new voices.

The Miracles released "The Tracks of My Tears" in 1965, creating a soul ballad that would inspire artists for generations. Linda Ronstadt recorded one of its most successful covers 10 years later, and her version remains beloved 51 years after its release.

The song was written by Smokey Robinson, Pete Moore and Marv Tarplin, three members of the Miracles, and recorded at Motown's Hitsville USA studio. It began with a guitar melody from Tarplin before Robinson and Moore helped turn it into a story about hiding heartbreak behind a smile.

Robinson once explained that his approach to songwriting was rooted in finding new ways to express familiar emotions.

"The trick for me was to try and say the same thing differently," he said in a 1989 Billboard interview.

That approach helped "The Tracks of My Tears" stand apart from countless other songs about lost love. The Miracles' original reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the R&B chart, but its influence would stretch far beyond its initial chart run.

Ronstadt recorded the song for her 1975 album, Prisoner in Disguise. Her version brought the Motown classic to a new audience and became a crossover success, reaching No. 25 on the Hot 100 and No. 4 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

The original recording has continued to receive some of music's highest honors. Rolling Stone ranked it No. 50 on its list of the 500 greatest songs of all time before later naming it the greatest Motown song of all time.

"The Tracks of My Tears" was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame as one of four Miracles recordings to receive the honor. More than six decades after the original and 51 years after Ronstadt's cover, the song continues to inspire singers and listeners with its honest portrayal of heartbreak.

1971 No. 1 Hit, Famously Performed on 'Soul Train,' Is Still a 'Masterclass in Storytelling' 55 Years Later

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 3:14pm

In 1971, the Chi-Lites released "Have You Seen Her," and the track has been hailed a "masterclass in storytelling" for its signature spoken-word intro. Fifty-five years later, the song remains a timeless classic.

The R&B-soul ballad, written by lead singer Eugene Record and fellow soul artist Barbara Acklin, was inspired by a heartbreaking lost love. The narrator tells the story of being enamored with a woman before she left him, leaving him desolate as he longs to find her again. He waits to no avail, explaining that "One month ago today / I was happy as a lark," but now each day feels like "just another day."

"But it still doesn't ease my pain / I know I can't hide from a memory / Though day after day I've tried / I keep sayin' she'll be back / But today again I've lied," the track continues to express, per Genius.

Included on the group's album (For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People, the song took off on the charts. It earned the top spot on the Billboard R&B Singles chart in November 1971, hitting No. 1. It also raced up the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 3. Additionally, it became an international smash, also reaching No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1972.

The Chi-Lites famously performed the hit live on Soul Train around the time of its release, and decades later, they're even set to join the nostalgic TV staple's event programming next year. "The Chi-Lites are headed to the legendary Soul Train Cruise 2027. Featuring Dr. Marshall Thompson — The Godfather of Vocal Groups," a Facebook post announced in January.

The Chicago soul group—originally comprised of Eugene Record, Marshall Thompson, Robert "Squirrel" Lester, and Creadel "Red" Jones—first formed in 1959 by founding member Thompson. At the time, the guys were still high schoolers. Initially, they went by "The Hi-Lights," changing their name in 1964 to “Marshall & The Chi-Lites.” By 1969, they officially were known simply as "The Chi-Lites" before catapulting to international stardom.

"Between 1969 and 1974, The Chi-Lites scored 11 Top Ten singles on the Billboard R&B charts, with hits like “Have You Seen Her,” “Give It Away,” “(For God’s Sake) Give More Power To The People,” “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So),” “A Letter To Myself,” “The Coldest Days of My Life,” “Stoned Out Of My Mind,” “Oh Girl,” and thirty-seven other Billboard charted singles throughout their career," according to The Chi-Lites' website.

This Country Star’s Concert Turned Into an Epic Rock Surprise

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 3:13pm

Great artists truly start out as music fans and sometimes, the musicians who inspired them become part of their own unforgettable career stories.

According to Rolling Stone, Chris Stapleton experienced one of those full-circle moments during his Toronto concert when two members of Guns N’ Roses joined him onstage for a surprise performance that brought the country and rock worlds together.

Just one night after Stapleton joined Guns N’ Roses at Rogers Stadium to cover Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan returned the favor by making a surprise appearance at Stapleton’s own show. The rock legends joined Stapleton for “Patience,” the beloved Guns N’ Roses ballad originally released on the band’s 1988 album G N’ R Lies, creating a performance that reminded fans how great songs can transcend genres.

After performing “Patience,” Slash stayed onstage to join Stapleton for a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well.” The collaboration was another special moment between the two musicians, who previously recorded a version of the song together for Slash’s 2024 solo album Orgy of the Damned.

It's a full-circle moment for a friendship that dates back nearly a decade. Stapleton first crossed paths with Guns N' Roses back in July 2016, when he served as the band's one-off opener at Nashville's Nissan Stadium. Reflecting on the surreal nature of that night, Stapleton told the crowd, "When I was a kid, if you'd have told me I'd be up here playing before Guns N' Roses, I'd have called you a liar."

That night also gave Stapleton the opportunity to meet Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose backstage. Years later, Stapleton recalled that Rose was “a gentleman” and described the encounter as a memorable moment centered around their shared love of music.

From opening for one of rock’s biggest bands to sharing the stage with its legendary musicians, Stapleton’s journey proves that sometimes the dreams you have starting out as a fan become the moments you create as an artist.

Captain Sandy Manifested Her Own 'Below Deck Med' Crossover After 'RHOSLC’s 'Below Deck Down Under' Takeover

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 2:41pm

Captain Sandy Yawn may have manifested her own Bravo crossover. Earlier this year, she admitted she was “a little jealous” watching Below Deck Down Under welcome the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast. Now, the tables have turned.

During a January appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Sandy laughed as she confessed she wanted the same kind of crossover on Below Deck Mediterranean. She even joked that the RHOSLC stars were so focused on themselves during the Below Deck Down Under episode that they “paid no attention” to Chef Ben Robinson or anyone else around them.

Chief Stew Aesha Scott appears to be enjoying the crossover, too. In an Instagram Story with Kyle Cooke, Aesha gave the Summer House crew a glowing review when Kyle asked how they were as charter guests. “A 10... I’d say a 12,” she said, adding, “They’re actually very nice people.” Kyle seemed almost surprised by the assessment, joking, “Surprisingly nice.” He also captured video of production crew members walking around with cameras, with Ciara Miller seen sitting nearby.

Meanwhile, Jesse Solomon shared a reel from his time aboard the superyacht, showing himself having breakfast alongside Lindsay Hubbard and singing on deck.

Bravo also seemingly “leaked” a photo from the Summer House and Below Deck Med crossover, featuring Jesse, Mia Calabrese, Lindsay, Ciara, Carl Radke, Kyle and Bailey Taylor aboard the yacht. KJ Dillard was not pictured, nor were any of the new additions to the Hamptons house.

Although Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 is currently airing on Bravo, the Summer House crossover likely won’t hit screens until Season 12. The photo not only spoiled the crossover but also revealed that both Captain Sandy and Aesha will return for Season 12. For now, the yacht’s location and the rest of the crew remain under wraps.

While we wait for season 12 to air, Below Deck Med Season 11 is on fire as the crew power dynamics have shifted and a new deckhand will hopefully soon arrive.

Below Deck Mediterraenean is on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Here’s Exactly How To Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Smoother, Shinier Hair, According to a Trichologist

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 2:38pm

Whether you've already heard of the trend that involves using apple cider vinegar for hair, or this is brand new information, Parade wanted to get to the bottom of exactly what it can do for your strands. We spoke with Tabitha Osman, a master stylist and holistic trichologist at Haven Holistic Salon, which specializes in color and treatment services, hair extensions, hair loss and scalp health.

Osman says that while apple cider vinegar (or ACV) isn't "a must-have in your routine," it does have scalp and hair benefits—so it can be worth trying if you're curious. Particularly, she says that apple cider vinegar can help with smoother, shinier hair overall.

Of course, with any beauty product, it all comes down to application. You can actually do more harm than good to your skin and strands if you use ACV incorrectly. Osman shares exactly how to make a proper apple cider vinegar rinse for best results and how often to use it to avoid doing unwanted damage to your scalp and follicles.

Here's everything you need to know about the apple cider vinegar trend and how to best work it into your own hair-care routine.

What Does Apple Cider Vinegar Do for Hair?

According to Osman, apple cider vinegar is naturally anti-fungal and anti-microbial thanks to its acidity, and it can help stabilize your scalp's pH level.

"Our scalp sits at a pH of about 4.5, and a lot of hair products are too alkaline, which throws that balance off," she says, adding that apple cider has a pH of about 2 to 3, which can help promote "a deep clean and healthier hair strands."

"For the hair strand itself, ACV seals the cuticle, which locks in color and reduces frizz," she continues, explaining that the sealed cuticle gives "the visible shine and smoother feel people are after."

Is Apple Cider Vinegar Good for Your Scalp?

In addition to balancing your scalp's pH level, Osman says that AVC can help "slough off dry skin, and reduce any fungal issues that could be behind flaking and it leaves the scalp feeling refreshed."

Osman says you'll know if your scalp needs ACV if it's "dry, sensitive or looks prematurely aged." She adds that those are all indicators of the skin being too alkaline and in need of acidity.

Can Apple Cider Vinegar Help With Dandruff?

Osman notes that "true dandruff is really just a dehydrated scalp, and it is rarely what is causing the flaking most people see."

She adds, "Most often what people are actually dealing with is seborrheic dermatitis," which is a form of chronic eczema.

Osman continues, "If you are experiencing itching, burning or an inflamed scalp, ACV may offer temporary relief, but it is not addressing the more complex scalp issue, and those folks should see a dermatologist or trichologist."

How To Use Apple Cider Vinegar on Hair

You should be using apple cider vinegar "in addition" to your regular hair-care routine, says Osman, explaining, "An ACV rinse will not truly clean the scalp, so you will still need a shampoo at minimum."

She says you can use the rinse before you shampoo "if you have a very sensitive scalp or you are concerned about lingering smell of the vinegar." But you can also use it after shampooing "to breakdown product buildup or mineral buildup," she adds.

How often to use it on your hair

"This is not a daily product," Osman cautions. She says an apple cider vinegar rinse functions similarly to a clarifying shampoo and should not be applied more than a few times per month.

"Using ACV rinses too frequently can strip too much of your natural oils, which leads to irritation or frizz," she tells Parade.

How To Make an Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse

For your rinse, Osman says you should dilute two to four tablespoons of ACV in 16 ounces of water. She recommends choosing an "organic, high-quality apple cider vinegar."

Osman says that "due to the acidity," you should only leave the rinse on for about five to 15 minutes. You can use all 16 ounces of the mixture, and you should be sure to thoroughly rinse the vinegar out afterwards. Otherwise, it "can lead to scalp irritation, extreme dryness and brittleness of the hair, color fading or a lingering oder," she explains.

Can Apple Cider Vinegar Damage Your Hair?

Osman wants people to take care when using apple cider vinegar so as not to accidentally damage their scalp and strands. She says undiluted ACV can cause chemical burns, and some people can be allergic or have skin sensitivity to even the diluted product.

"I always recommend a patch test first," she tells Parade, "Put a small amount behind the ear or on the arm, let it sit a few minutes, rinse it off and wait 24 hours to make sure there is no irritation."

She adds that using ACV in conjunction with other acidic hair and skin care products "can interact and cause irritation too, especially retinol."

Who should avoid apple cider vinegar on hair?

Even when diluted, Osman says that ACV is mildly acidic, explaining, "So use caution if you have any open wounds on the scalp, or if your other shampoo or conditioner products are acidic as well."

She notes that an inflamed, red or sore scalp is usually a sign that it's already "too acidic" and you should not add a further acid.

1980 Hit, Written by Dolly Parton, Ranked Among 'Best Movie Soundtrack Songs' of All Time

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 2:33pm

Dolly Parton’s 1980 hit “9 to 5,” written by the singer for the comedy film of the same name, has been ranked among “Best Movie Soundtrack Songs of All Time.”

The song appears in the film 9 to 5, which stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Parton in her movie debut. The three play office workers who team up against their boss, played by Dabney Coleman.

The track opens with the sound of typewriter keys and pairs an upbeat melody with lyrics about the daily grind of work.

Collider placed “9 to 5” among other well-known soundtrack tracks from different eras and styles. The list notes that great movie songs can take listeners back to the film long after the credits roll. Parton’s contribution remains closely tied to the 1980 comedy and to the everyday experiences of people who work for a living.

Parton wrote “9 to 5” after Jane Fonda asked her to join the movie. Parton said, “Well, this is a good opportunity, but I’ll only do it if I can write the theme song.”

She created the typewriter rhythm by clicking her acrylic nails together on the set.

In a 2019 interview she explained, per American Songwriter, “When I actually wrote this song, I actually had — I used my acrylic nails on the set when I was writing it. [laughter] I did, because they make noise, and it sounded like a typewriter to me.”

Released as a single in November 1980, the song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the country chart, and the adult contemporary chart in early 1981. It was Parton’s first solo No. 1 on the Hot 100.

The track earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. It also won Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Vocal Performance, Female.

The song and film drew inspiration from the 9to5 organization, started in 1973 by women seeking fair pay and equal treatment at work.

Karen Nussbaum, a co-founder of the group, said of the song: “I think the song is brilliant. It starts with pride: ‘Pour myself a cup of ambition.’ It goes to grievances: ‘Barely getting by.’ It then goes to class conflict: ‘You’re just a step on the bossman’s ladder.’ And then it ends with collective power: ‘In the same boat with a lot of your friends.’ So in the space of this wildly popular song with a great beat, Dolly Parton just puts it all together by herself.”

The lyrics talk about tough bosses, low pay and the feeling of being overlooked. At the same time the music stays lively and easy to sing along to. Writer Rebecca Traister described it as “simultaneously a song of angry complaint and immense good cheer. And there is something about that combination that makes it kind of addictive and fun.”

“9 to 5” became a favorite among office workers. It ranked No. 78 on the American Film Institute’s 100 Years…100 Songs list in 2004.

Rolling Stone later called it Parton’s “most transformative song” and placed it at No. 7 on its list of her 50 best songs. The single was certified gold in 1981 and later reached multi-platinum status. It has sold hundreds of thousands of digital copies and continues to stream widely.

The song later served as the theme for a TV series based on the movie. It has appeared in other films and shows, including sequences in Deadpool 2 and The Penguin. In 2024 it was interpolated into Pitbull’s track “Powerful Women,” which featured Parton.

The track still plays on radio and in public settings decades after its release. Its mix of steady beat and plain-spoken words about the workday has kept it familiar to new listeners while remaining a landmark recording for Parton.

Lead Singer of Iconic '80s Metal Band Iron Maiden Turns 68

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 2:32pm

His unmistakable voice has powered some of heavy metal's most enduring songs.

Bruce Dickinson, the longtime lead singer of Iron Maiden, celebrates his 68th birthday on Friday, Aug. 7. More than four decades after joining the band, he remains one of the genre's most recognizable and influential vocalists.

Born in Worksop, England, in 1958, Dickinson began singing with local groups before joining Samson in 1979. Performing under the stage name Bruce Bruce, he appeared on the band's albums Head On and Shock Tactics as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal began gaining attention.

Dickinson's career changed in 1981 when he was chosen to replace Paul Di'Anno as Iron Maiden's lead singer. His first album with the group, 1982's The Number of the Beast, reached No. 1 in the United Kingdom and introduced his soaring vocals on songs including "Run to the Hills" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name."

His range and commanding stage presence soon became essential to the band's sound. Iron Maiden continued its success throughout the decade with albums including Piece of Mind, Powerslave and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, building an international following that has remained loyal for generations.

Dickinson left Iron Maiden in 1993 to focus on his solo career, which he had launched with Tattooed Millionaire three years earlier. He returned to the band in 1999 alongside guitarist Adrian Smith, beginning another successful period that opened with the 2000 album Brave New World.

Outside of Iron Maiden, Dickinson has pursued an unusually varied collection of interests. He is an author, competitive fencer and licensed commercial pilot who previously flew passenger aircraft. He also piloted Iron Maiden's Ed Force One plane on several of the band's tours.

After receiving treatment for throat cancer in 2015, Dickinson returned to performing and continued touring around the world. Reflecting on his approach to life, he said in 2024, "This life might be the only one I've got so I've always grabbed it with both hands."

That determination remains evident in his current work. Dickinson released The Mandrake Project, his first solo album in 19 years, in 2024 and later completed another solo record at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 with contributions from members of Sepultura.

He is also continuing Iron Maiden's Run for Your Lives World Tour, which resumes later this month in Toronto before traveling across North America, Latin America, Australia and Japan. At 68, Dickinson remains as ambitious as ever, with his voice still at the center of one of heavy metal's most celebrated careers.

Giada De Laurentiis's Pasta-Buying Trick Could Help Keep Your Blood Sugar More Stable

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 2:25pm

Giada De Laurentiishas a simple checklist for buying better pasta, and one of her tips has real science behind it: protein content.

In an August 5 Instagram video, De Laurentiis said she looks for pasta with 8 to 10 grams of protein per serving, more than double what a typical box offers, explaining that higher-protein pasta helps keep blood sugar more stable after eating instead of spiking it.

Research backs up part of that claim. A randomized crossover trial published in the journal Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics compared higher-protein pasta with 10 grams per serving, to regular pasta with 7g per serving, and white rice in adults with Type 1 diabetes.

Researchers found both types of pasta produced significantly lower peak blood sugar than white rice. The difference between the two pastas themselves, however, wasn't statistically significant, so the study supports choosing pasta over rice, but doesn't confirm that a few extra grams of protein makes one pasta meaningfully better than another for blood sugar control.

Photo by Matthew Moloney on Unsplash

The rest of De Laurentiis's checklist for good store-bought pasta is simple. She recommends sticking to pasta made from just two ingredients, durum wheat semolina and water, avoiding versions with added fillers or preservatives. She also looks for pasta labeled bronze-cut or slow-dried, noting that the slower drying process is easier to digest and gentler on blood sugar than fast, industrially dried pasta.

Texture matters for a more practical reason, De Laurentiis says: a rough, matte surface, the kind bronze-cut dies produce, helps sauce actually cling to the noodle rather than sliding off, unlike the smoother surface on most mass-produced pasta.

"I have gotten tons of texts over the last few months asking me for my checklist when shopping for pasta," she Instagrammed under the post, "because not all pasta is created equal!! Hope this helps you next time you’re shopping."

Mountain Dew Fans Think Its New 3-Flavor Black Pepper and Chili Soda Is a Terrible Idea

Fri, 08/07/2026 - 2:18pm

Mountain Dew's newest Baja Blast spinoff has fans hitting the internet with the same verdict: this one might be a miss.

The brand is celebrating Baja Blast's 22nd birthday with a limited-edition flavor called Baja Leo, a zero-sugar soda blending spiced mango, chili lime and black pepper. The name is a nod to Baja Blast's zodiac sign, since the original flavor debuted on July 29, 2004, making it a Leo.

According to Allrecipes, each flavor was designed to mirror Leo traits: the mango represents warmth, the chili lime brings the drama, and the black pepper is meant to capture a Leo's confidence with a lingering bite. It's a creative concept on paper, but the reaction online suggests fans see it differently.

Comments flooding in online have been overwhelmingly skeptical, with many calling the combination "gross" and "nasty." One person compared it to mixing mango Dr Pepper with Baja Blast, while another questioned why soda brands keep pushing spicy, non-sweet flavors instead of sticking with something refreshing. Several longtime fans specifically pointed to the black pepper as the ingredient that crossed a line for them.

Making matters worse for skeptics is how hard the drink will be to get. Baja Leo launches exclusively through Mountain Dew's TikTok Shop starting August 12 at noon EST, bundled with a 12-pack of original Baja Blast for $8, while supplies last. That exclusivity has become its own point of frustration, with multiple commenters saying they'd skip the drop entirely simply because they don't use TikTok, regardless of how the flavor tastes.

Not everyone has written it off. A smaller group of commenters said the odd combination made them curious enough to try it anyway, and some pointed out Mountain Dew has released spicier flavors in the past without much backlash.

Still, the early consensus is clear: plenty of fans think Mountain Dew didn't need to go this far for a birthday flavor.
