Powerhouse Country Star with Record Breaking Hits Turns 50
Country superstar Blake Sheltonis known for his chart-topping hits and his stint as the longest running coach on NBC's hit show, The Voice. Shelton shot to fame 25 years ago in 2001 with the smash hit "Austin" and has become an icon in the genre today.
On June 18th, 2026, Shelton celebrated his birthday turning 50 years old.
Shelton rose to country musicprominence a few years after moving to Nashville when he was just 17. His label originally intended to have him record the song "I Wanna Talk About Me" as his lead single, however they ended up opting to give it to Toby Keith who sent it to number one.
Instead, Shelton's first song released in 2001 was the single "Austin." The song became Shelton's first number one hit and spent five weeks at the top of the country music chart. His self-titled debut album came afterwards, which produced further hits "Ol' Red" and "All Over Me." Shelton has labeled "Ol' Red" as his signature song and plays it frequently in live performances.
In 2005 Shelton met fellow country icon Miranda Lambert following his first divorce and the two began dating shortly after. After four years of dating in 2010 the pair became engaged and they married in 2011. Lambert and Shelton wrote and recorded the song "Over You" together about Shelton's late brother, Richie. On July 20, 2015, the couple announced their divorce which was finalized that same day.
In 2011, Shelton became a coach on the singing competition show on NBC, The Voice, further solidifying his star status. Shelton was the country music staple on the show from the inception until his departure in 2023. Shelton won the competition with his singers 9 times over the course of his time as a coach on The Voice.
While appearing on The Voice, Shelton met singer Gwen Stefani and the two began dating in 2015. Speaking about his relationship with Stefani, Shelton said:
"Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can't even imagine the similarities in our divorces."
The pair were married in 2021 in a chapel on Shelton's property.
A native of Oklahoma, Shelton was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2014, and he was officially inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2010. Over the course of his prolific career he has had over 30 number one hit songs and nine Grammy Award nominations, including two for Best Country Album.

World Cup Star Erling Haaland's Girlfriend Names '80s Rock Classic as Her Favorite Song
Erling Haaland is making headlines at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a memorable debut for Norway, but this week, attention also turned to his longtime girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, after she revealed her favorite song to fans on social media.
Johansen shared the answer in an Instagram Story when responding to a follower who asked, “Whats your favorite song ?” Alongside the question, she revealed that her favorite track is “Say Say Say” by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson.
The song, released in October 1983, became one of the biggest hits of the decade and remains a popular collaboration between two of music's most iconic artists. Produced by George Martin, “Say Say Say” served as the lead single from McCartney’s album Pipes of Peace and topped charts in multiple countries, including the United States, Sweden and Norway, where Haaland and Johansen are from.

The song spent six weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the most successful singles of both artists' careers. Billboard later ranked it among the biggest hits in Hot 100 history.

— mydzn (@MadelaineDizon) June 18, 2026The collaboration also produced a memorable music video featuring McCartney and Jackson portraying con artists named “Mac and Jack.” The video became one of the most talked-about music releases of its era and helped further boost the song’s popularity.
More recently, “Say Say Say” reached a new generation of listeners through a 2023 remake released by Norwegian DJ Kygo, who reimagined the classic track for modern audiences.
The revelation comes just days after Haaland delivered an impressive performance in his long-awaited FIFA World Cup debut. The Norway striker scored twice in a 4-1 victory over Iraq, helping his nation begin the tournament with a convincing win.
Haaland, 25, had waited years for his first World Cup appearance after Norway failed to qualify for the tournament since 1998. He wasted little time making an impact, scoring his first World Cup goal just 29 minutes into the match before adding a second goal later in the first half.
Meanwhile, Johansen has been supporting Norway throughout the tournament and recently shared her excitement before the opening match against Iraq.
“I have a really good feeling and I just can’t wait for the kickoff, for the match to start,” Johansen said in an Instagram Story video, according to the NY Post.
“I’m wearing the home jersey today and my white miniskirt. So I’ll see you there, and let’s cross everything we have and cheer our hearts today for Norway.”
The Bryne native later shared photos from Boston Stadium, where she watched Haaland deliver a two-goal performance and receive post-match recognition.
Johansen and Haaland have known each other since their youth soccer days at Bryne FK. The couple reportedly began dating in 2021 and welcomed their first child in December 2024.
As Norway prepares for its upcoming World Cup matches against Senegal and France, Haaland remains one of the tournament’s biggest stars. At the same time, Johansen’s social media activity continues to attract attention from fans eager to learn more about the woman supporting one of football’s most recognizable players.

Six Flags Great America Is Throwing a Massive 50th Anniversary Bash Packed With 1976 Nostalgia
If you grew up anywhere near the Midwest, chances are your childhood summers included a very specific rite of passage: piling into the family car, driving down to Gurnee, Illinois, and spending the day chasing thrills at Great America.
Long before it became the massive coaster haven we know today, the park originally opened its gates way back on May 29, 1976, as "Marriott’s Great America"—a beautifully themed, Americana-inspired tribute to the country’s bicentennial. Whether your core memories involve staring up at the grand, double-decker Columbia Carousel for the first time, bracing yourself for the retro drops of the historic Whizzer, or conquering your very first upside-down loop on the Demon, that nostalgic magic is officially taking center stage this season.
Six Flags Great America is officially kicking off its massive 50th Anniversary Celebration, running from June 20 through August 9, 2026. Rather than just treating it like a standard calendar milestone, the park is throwing a summer-long festival that beautifully bridges old-school 1976 nostalgia with cutting-edge, 2026 entertainment.
Related: Six Flags Magic Mountain Just Unveiled Its Reimagined Looney Tunes Land
View this post on InstagramThe highlight of the entire celebration is an all-new nightly spectacular that completely reinvents the park's evening send-off. The production features hundreds of highly synchronized, custom-programmed drones that will take to the sky to illuminate five decades of Great America history with vibrant, dynamic shapes. To give the show that classic, high-vibe finale energy, the drone choreography is paired with low-proximity pyrotechnics, an energetic new stage show called Memories in Motion, and an all-new "50 Years of Thrills" nightly parade rolling right down the midways.
If your favorite part of a theme park day revolves around the food, the anniversary menu is leaning heavily into decadent comfort food and celebratory flavors. You can pick up a specialty tasting pass to sample limited-time treats across the park, including Loaded Italian Beef Tater Tots (topped with melted mozzarella and local giardiniera peppers), crispy Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers, and a massive Birthday Cake Funnel Cake piled high with soft-serve ice cream, white cake pieces and confetti sprinkles.

But the ultimate treat for park purists is the official return of the Firehouse Ice Cream Parlor. This fan-favorite, nostalgic location is being brought back from the park's opening 1976 season, complete with vintage vibes and a brand-new menu of limited-edition ice cream flavors that pay tribute to the park's rich history.
Beyond the food and fireworks, the park is filling its daily schedule with live entertainment designed to transport you through the decades. You can catch Retro Rhythms, a high-energy, disco-infused celebration of 1970s hits that honors the park's opening year, listen to modern barbershop harmonies with The Pitch Pipes, or grab a seat for the “Along for the Ride” 50th Anniversary Documentary, a heartfelt retrospective filled with rare footage and behind-the-scenes memories of the people who built the park's legacy.
It is a fantastic reminder of how a truly great theme park can span generations. You can spend your morning riding the timeless classics that were there on day one, check out the park's latest record-breaking steel giants like the Wrath of Rakshasa, and cap off the night under a sky full of drones.

2000s Pop-Rock Band Plain White T's Surprise Fans With Inflight Performance
Chances are you know the choruses to at least two Plain White T's songs.
One such hit is "Hey There Delilah," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on July 28, 2007.
Almost 20 years later, the pop-rock band is still around and just surprised fans with a unique performance of the track — at 35,000 feet.
Southwest Airlines is celebrating 15 years of its signature Live at 35 program that brings live pop-up performances to customers onboard flights. Plain White T’s were one of the first artists to perform onboard a Southwest flight when the program launched in 2011, according to the airline's news release dated Tuesday, June 16.
“We’ve played a lot of venues over time, and I speak for all of us when I say there is nothing like hearing a plane full of people singing along with your music at 35,000 feet,” said Tom Higgenson of the Plain White T’s in a statement, per Southwest. “We had the opportunity to perform inflight with Southwest over a decade ago, and while that can feel like it was a million years ago, not much has changed. We loved making history with Southwest and their welcoming team."
The band's decision to play “Hey There Delilah” is significant since it continues to draw crowds and has resurfaced on TikTok of late, with billions of plays. Check out a recent upload to the social platform below as one example, which has more than 65,000 likes and counting.

'80s Rock Classic, Originally Written by Iconic Duo, Became a No. 1 Hit Twice
Few songs have enjoyed the remarkable chart journey of "With a Little Help From My Friends."
Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney for The Beatles' landmark 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the song became an international favorite almost immediately. But it was another artist who transformed it into one of rock's defining anthems and, two decades later, an '80s band that proved its timeless appeal all over again.
Joe Cocker's soulful reinterpretation arrived in 1968 and dramatically reimagined the upbeat Beatles original. With its powerful vocal performance and gospel-inspired arrangement, the song reached No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart and became one of Cocker's signature recordings. It also gained legendary status after his unforgettable performance at Woodstock in 1969, helping cement the song as a classic in its own right.
"It was just mind blowing, [Cocker] totally turned the song into a soul anthem and I was forever grateful for him for doing that," McCartney later told Billboard.
Twenty years after Cocker released his version, "With a Little Help From My Friends" returned to the top of the U.K. charts thanks to Scottish rock band Wet Wet Wet.
Released in 1988, the band's version was recorded for the charity project Sgt. Pepper Knew My Father, which celebrated the legacy of the Beatles' groundbreaking album. Wet Wet Wet's heartfelt rendition resonated with listeners, spending four weeks at No. 1 in the United Kingdom and introducing the song to a new generation.
Although the arrangements were vastly different, both Joe Cocker and Wet Wet Wet found success by putting their own stamp on the Lennon-McCartney composition rather than trying to imitate the original. Each version highlighted the emotional warmth at the heart of the song while reflecting the musical styles of its own era.
More than 50 years after it was first recorded by The Beatles, "With a Little Help From My Friends" remains one of the rare songs to top the U.K. charts twice with two different artists. From Joe Cocker's era-defining reinvention to Wet Wet Wet's chart-topping revival, the Lennon-McCartney classic continues to prove that a great song can find new life with every generation.

Bravo Reality TV Star and Dr. Dre Are Officially the Most Unexpected Couple, and Fans Are Divided
It’s official! Bravo reality TV star Michelle Saniei is dating Dr. Dre, and this is one of the most unexpected match-ups of the year…if not the decade.
Rumors started flying back in April when the 37-year-old The Valley cast member was spotted with the iconic rapper/music producer holding hands after a dinner at Nobu Malibu. While it certainly looked like the pair was coupled up, neither commented on their possibly budding relationship.

(Photo by Jerritt Clark/Getty Images for Top Dawg Entertainment)That was then, and this is now. A few short months later, Saniei revealed toPEOPLE, “We’re spending time together, and we love being in each other’s company.” But don’t expect to see Dre making an appearance on The Valley anytime soon (or ever, for that matter). Michelle added, “For now we’re just keeping everything super private. I’m just living my life.”
Saniei also opened up about her split from fellow The Valley star, ex-husband Jesse Lally, saying, “I think in the beginning you get so scared, ‘Did I make the right choice and is this best for myself and my child?’ But now looking back, I feel like everything I did was the best decision for myself and for my daughter and I have no regrets on that part.” She continued, “I’m truly happy with where life is taking me.”
So where do Saniei and Lally stand now that Dr. Dre is in the picture? The couple shares one child (a daughter, Isabella Lally), and based on the mom’s most recent comments, it looks like co-parenting is pretty much the only contact she has with her ex. Saniei also told PEOPLE, “I try not to really have a relationship with him unless it has to be about our daughter. We won’t text, we won’t see each other unless like Isabella has a school function.”
The Valley fans know that Dr. Dre isn't the first man Saniei has dated since she separated from Lally. Following the former couple’s very public split, Saniei dated Aaron Nosler. And while things looked promising, and the pair moved in together, the relationship ultimately did not work out. That left Michelle single and ready to date again.
What do Bravo fans think of the Michelle Saniei Dr. Dre Romance?Fans certainly have thoughts on this pairing. In a recent Reddit post, one wrote, “Still the most random relationship ever.” Of course, that was tame compared to some of the other comments. Others said, “This is not the flex she might think it is”, “Jesse will be jealous, but she is making a mistake for sure”, and “What is she thinking? I hope she’s not planning to have a serious relationship with this man.”
’70s Rock Legends Blocked From No. 1 by ’90s Hard Rock Favorites
There’s an all-out battle going on right now on the U.K. rock charts. And the two contenders might surprise you.
On June 5, Pink Floyd dropped their newest compilation album, 8-Tracks, a Sony Music release of curated classics spanning the band’s 1970s output, drawing from landmark albums including Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall.
View this post on InstagramThe bestselling mini album edited by Stephen Wilson is performing OK in the U.S., debuting at No. 86 on the Billboard 200, but it’s nothing compared to how the English prog-rockers are doing in their home country.
Upon release, 8-Tracks debuted on multiple charts in the U.K., Forbes reported, with the outlet noting that the album ranks highest on the Official Rock & Metal Albums tally at No. 2. However, it’s also that survey that’s apparently causing the band their biggest headache. That’s because they’re being kept from the top spot by an unexpected yet worthy contender.
While Pink Floyd are one of the most decorated rock acts in chart history, Evanescence aren’t exactly newcomers to commercial success themselves. And for Amy Lee and company, the strong debut is the latest chapter in a career that has connected with listeners for more than two decades.
Sanctuary, the latest release from the ’90s Gothic rock and alternative metal band, was released on the same day as Pink Floyd’s 8-Tracks, and currently, the female-fronted rock band from Little Rock, Arkansas, are holding firm in that top spot.
“It's so much bigger than me and my story,” Lee said in an interview with BuzzFeed about the band’s latest offering. “I feel honored to be part of something that's bigger than myself or even the band. We get to make music for people and become a part of their stories and their lives. It's been so cool having the people that jumped in from the early days coming along for this lifetime of a ride.”
Of course, holding off Pink Floyd is no small feat, even for rockers as accomplished as Evanescence. And that’s because Pink Floyd have spent decades turning chart success into an art form.
“While Pink Floyd does not start 8-Tracks at the summit of the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, the band has already earned eight No. 1s,” Forbes pointed out. “It's only been a little more than a year since the group soared to the peak position with At Pompeii — MCMLXXII. The troupe's The Dark Side of the Moon – which has appeared on the Official Rock & Metal Albums roster in multiple forms – brought the band to the rundown for the first time in October 2012, and so far, it has spent 32 weeks running the show.”
Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ Nears 1,000 Weeks on Billboard 200https://t.co/0VvupVmde2
— billboard (@billboard) January 7, 2026The band’s chart history extends far beyond the performances of a single compilation album. Even as 8-Tracks battles for chart supremacy, another Pink Floyd achievement is quietly approaching historic territory.
The band’s landmark 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon, has clocked in just under 1,000 weeks on the Billboard 200, meaning the iconic album is sitting on the brink of another historic milestone.
And this time, there's no one in their way.

2006 Global Smash Hit Turns 20 Today: It Remains the Singer's First and Only No. 1
Twenty years ago today, a Colombian superstar pulled off something she has never managed to repeat.
On June 17, 2006, Shakira landed her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Hips Don't Lie," the Wyclef Jean collaboration that became one of the defining pop songs of the 2000s. Two decades later, it is still the only time she has topped the chart.
The song arrived on the reissue of her album Oral Fixation, Vol. 2, and it climbed fast. Once "Hips Don't Lie" was added to the record, the album jumped from No. 98 to No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The single held No. 1 on the Hot 100 for two weeks and racked up more than 2 billion in radio airplay audience, per Billboard.
A Record-Setting Radio HitBuilt on cumbia rhythms and Colombian folk instrumentation, the track leaned hard into Shakira's roots while Jean traded verses with her. It became one of the most-played pop songs in a single week in U.S. radio history, a crossover smash that ran on pop, Latin and rhythmic stations at the same time. The singer's tours have leaned on it as a closer ever since.
Still Her Only Trip to No. 1For all the milestones that followed, from a Super Bowl LIV halftime set in 2020 to her record-breaking world tours and her status as a global stadium draw, "Hips Don't Lie" remains Shakira's sole Hot 100 chart-topper.
The track has never left her live sets, and the two reunited for a nostalgic performance of it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in May 2025. Twenty years after it conquered the summer of 2006, the song still moves a crowd.

'90s Rock Band Named ‘Most Dangerous Band’ of All Time
By the end of the 1980s, few bands had a reputation quite like Guns N' Roses.
As the Los Angeles rockers rocketed from the Sunset Strip to global superstardom, they also earned another distinction: being widely known as "the most dangerous band in the world."
The nickname reflected not only the band's explosive live performances but also its unpredictable behavior, internal tensions and headline-making controversies that made Guns N' Roses one of the most talked-about acts of the era.
The reputation grew alongside the band's meteoric success. Following the release of Appetite for Destruction in 1987, Guns N' Roses became one of hard rock's defining acts, fueled by hits including "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "Paradise City." The album went on to become one of the best-selling debut albums in U.S. history, launching the band into international stardom.
As the band's popularity grew, so did its notoriety. Concert delays, onstage walk-offs, public feuds and lineup changes frequently made headlines, while frontman Axl Rose's unpredictable performances only added to the group's larger-than-life reputation.
One of the band's most infamous moments came in 1989 while opening for the Rolling Stones at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Before launching into "Mr. Brownstone," Axl Rose publicly addressed his bandmates' drug use, warning the crowd that Guns N' Roses might not survive if things didn’t change.
"I hate to do this on stage, but I tried every other f****** way. And unless certain people in this band get their s*** together, these will be the last Guns N’ Roses shows you'll f****** ever see. 'Cause I'm tired of too many people in this organization dancing with Mr. G*ddamn Brownstone."
These antics didn't just compromise the band its reputation, but also its earnings.
"Metallica was earning the exact same paycheck as we were every night, but while they pocketed the whole thing, we were blowing 80 percent both on union dues for all of the overtime we cost ourselves going on late and on these stupid theme parties," said guitarist Slash, recalling the famous Use Your Illusion Tour.
The phrase "the most dangerous band in the world" became so closely associated with Guns N' Roses that it later inspired the title of the 2012 documentary The Most Dangerous Band in the World, further cementing the nickname as part of the band's legacy.
Despite the chaos, Guns N' Roses continued evolving creatively. The simultaneous release of Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II in 1991 showcased a band willing to push beyond straight-ahead hard rock, producing enduring classics including "November Rain," "Don’t Cry," "Civil War" and "You Could Be Mine."
While the band's lineup changed dramatically over the years, its influence never faded. Guns N' Roses was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, and the reunion of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan in 2016 reignited interest in one of rock's most celebrated catalogs.
Today, the nickname remains inseparable from the band's story. More than three decades after earning the title of "the most dangerous band in the world," Guns N' Roses continues to be celebrated not only for its rebellious reputation but for the music that helped define an era of hard rock.

Jeff Probst Announces 'Survivor' Is Becoming an Animated Movie — With Animals as Players
Over 26 years, we've seen Survivor expand across a wide variety of media, with everyone from board games to video games. But the iconic reality series will be exploring a brand-new horizon, as it heads to the big screen in a new upcoming animated film.
The news comes courtesy of an announcement from Survivor host and executive producer Jeff Probst. The Emmy winner posted a video on his Instagram account, saying, "I am very excited to announce that Survivor is partnering with Paramount Animation to bring Survivor to the big screen in a completely new way. It's still everything we love about Survivor: Big personalities, funny characters, surprising alliances, competition, chaos, and, of course, a lot of heart, but this time the players aren't humans."
Indeed, for a show whose most famous moment is a woman comparing the Final Two players to snakes and rats, this upcoming movie seems to take that literally. According to Probst, the film will focus on a proper game of Survivor playing out, complete with challenges and eliminations. But this time, the contestants will be animals.
"This is the perfect fit," he continues. "Survivor has always been about watching different personalities, learning how to live together while competing against each other and setting it in the world of animals gives us a whole new playground to play with. I can't wait for you to meet this new tribe."

The synopsis for the film reads: "Set on a remote and mystical island, animals from all around the globe compete for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be crowned the sole Survivor."
As would be the case with any announcement of a movie that fictionalizes one of the biggest game-changing TV shows of all time and sets it in the animal kingdom, there are many, many questions. Are we talking fully walking and talking animals, or is this more of a Lion King fell? When will this film come out? Is this supposed to be for Survivor what Sing! was to American Idol? How involved will production be in making sure the animal version is as accurate as the human one? Could any prominent alumni make cameos (we're already writing head-canon for "Boston Robin" and "Sandra Diaz-Swine")? What about Probst himself?
In reaching 50 seasons (with another coming in the fall), Survivor has continued to showcase how it's taken the world by storm in the 2000s. And evidently, it hopes to be taking over the box office as well. All we know is they better have a llama named Tony and a chicken named Mark, or we riot!
