Which Elvis Presley Song Matches You, Based on Your Birth Month
Who can resist an icon like Elvis Presley? Elvis quickly became a cultural phenomenon thanks to his good looks, sensual performances, and genre-blending music. Like most January-born, Elvis can credit his success to his hardworking Capricorn energy and his funky Aquarian flair. Being a January baby means Elvis wasn’t afraid to go after what he wanted and to do it his way. Despite producing rather rebellious tunes and performances for his time, Elvis still rose to fame. It’s no wonder, because Elvis’ birth month speaks volumes about how unique his lasting legacy is to this day.
Like any fellow Elvis fan, your favorite song by the “King of Rock and Roll” says something about your spiritual energy and path. Born in January | Born in February | Born in March |
Born in April | Born in May | Born in June | Born in July |
Born in August | Born in September | Born in October |
Born in November | Born in December
January: “The Wonder of You”“Your love for me is everything.”
Finding genuine love isn’t easy for a January-born. Their stoic Capricorn nature and zany Aquarius energy make January-born unique. They might like a romantic outcast, so that’s why they have a special connection with “The Wonder of You”. January will resonate with Elvis’ heartfelt lyrics, as they capture the awe and gratitude January feels when they find love. “The Wonder of You” aligns with January’s excitement of being with a soulmate who gives them the strength to carry on.
February: “In the Ghetto”“Take a look at you and me, are we too blind to see?”
Being born in February means having a deep personality, thanks to the humanitarian spirit of Aquarius and the compassion of Pisces. February-born might love many of Elvis’ songs, but “In the Ghetto” stands out above the rest. The insightful lyrics leave a lasting message for February-born, asking them to reflect on the cycle of pain, poverty, and desperation. “In the Ghetto” captures February’s empathetic nature and their desire to make a difference in their community.
March: “If I Can Dream”“While I can stand, while I can talk, while I can dream.”
Having a March birthday means finding strength in sympathy. March babies are a mix of dreamy Pisces and assertive Aries, so they share an unwavering belief that their aspirations could make a difference. “If I Can Dream” will speak personally to those born in March. People born in this month will feel empowered when listening to “If I Can Dream,” since this ballad reminds them that they still have hope as long as they continue dreaming.
April: “A Little Less Conversation”“A little less conversation, a little more action, please.”
Those born in April are known for their assertiveness, as they are either a bold Aries or a straightforward Taurus. April-born can be romantic, but they’d rather just get to the point. “A Little Less Conversation” perfectly describes their love life. April gets down to business instead of wasting time talking. They’re direct and honest about what they want from love, which aligns with the frank lyrics and vibrant tunes of “A Little Less Conversation”.
RELATE?: This Classic Novel Matches You, Based on Your Birth Date
May: “I Got Lucky”“Oh, I got lucky, yes, I got lucky when I found you.”
Luck will always find those in May, thanks to their faithful Taurus attitude and open-minded Gemini outlook. Although May holds out hope, they still struggle with being overly practical and logical. Despite knowing the odds, May will still resonate with “I Got Lucky”. The sweet lyrics capture May’s disbelief and excitement at finding love. “I Got Lucky” is May’s reminder that luck is on their side, even if they don’t find a four-leaf clover or rabbit's food.
June: “You’re the Devil in Disguise”“But I got wise, you're the devil in disguise.”
Having a June birthday means being a curious mix of mischievous Gemini and baby-faced Cancer. People with this birth month look sweet, but they’ve always got something up their sleeves. “You’re the Devil in Disguise” perfectly captures June’s vibe. Like those born in June, this song initially draws the listener in only to throw a quick curveball. Elvis’ sassy lyrics set against an upbeat melody speak to June’s playful, if impish, personality.
July: “Burning Love”“I'm just a hunk, a hunk of burning love, ah (ah).”
Colorful personalities are born in July, as this birth month is ruled by the sensitive Cancer and the passionate Leo. Of all Elvis’ songs to choose from, July will feel called to the peppy, upbeat melody found in “Burning Love”. The plucky electric guitar and joyful drums play into July’s excitable nature. Those born in July will also feel called to “Burning Love” because it represents July’s happiness and enthusiasm for their lover who lights July’s morning sky.
EXPAND: The 3 Birth Dates With Natural Charisma
August: “Always on My Mind”“You were always on my mind (you were always on my mind).”
Admitting they were wrong doesn’t come easily to August-born, thanks to their prideful Leo nature. However, their analytical Virgo mind encourages self-reflection. “Always on My Mind” speaks to August, because it represents their thought process as they think back on their love life. “Always on My Mind” captures August’s regret for making more of an effort while representing their unwavering passion and love. August should play “Always on My Mind” when they’re trying to win their lover back.
September: “Love Me”“But love me (won't you love me?)”
Lovers who are pure of heart share September birthdays. These individuals carry the compliant energy of Virgo and the endless love of Libra within them, so they’ll feel called to “Love Me”. Elvis’ simpering tune aligns with September’s desire to be with their true love no matter the cost. Like Elvis, September will do anything to be loved in return even if it means being treated like a fool. After all, anything beats being sad and blue in September’s mind.
NEXT: The 4 Most Personable Birth Months
October: “Can’t Help Falling in Love”“Take my hand, take my whole life, too.”
October is a mix of loving Libra and deep Scorpio, so these people are known for being tender-hearted. Love is the most important thing for October-born, which is why they’re paired with “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. The slow-paced energy of this love ballad builds with emotion, as Elvis sensually croons about falling in love. October will be taken by this song’s vulnerable passion, as it mimics October’s own romantic nature.
November: “Don’t Be Cruel”“Don't be cruel to a heart that's true.”
Those born in November love love, thanks to having Scorpio’s desire for connection and Sagittarius’ enthusiastic attitude. Whenever November is feeling down about their love life, they should play “Don’t Be Cruel”. The steady beat pairs perfectly with the jovial, convincing lyrics to move forward in love. November will feel so much happier listening to “Don’t Be Cruel”, because this melody will remind November to remain positive if they don’t want no other love.

December: “Jailhouse Rock"“Everybody in the whole cell block was dancing to the Jailhouse Rock.”
People born in December initially struggle between their adventurous Sagittarius spirit and responsible Capricorn attitude. December-born want to do the right thing, but their desire for excitement and spontaneity almost always wins out. “Jailhouse Rock” captures December’s desire to break free from what’s expected of them and to just have fun. The jazzy, rock tune aligns with December’s secretly spirited nature, so listening to “Jailhouse Rock” is like giving December permission to cut loose.

46 Years Ago Today, Hollywood’s ‘Master of Suspense’ Died at 80
Forty-six years ago today, Hollywood lost one of the most influential visionaries, the beloved director Alfred Hitchcock.
At 80, the British filmmaker peacefully passed away on April 29, 1980, due to renal failure.
At the time, he was surrounded by his wife of 54 years, Alma Reville, daughter Patricia and his grandchildren at his home in Bel Air, Los Angeles.
The legendary director, who was knighted by the late Queen Elizabeth II just months before his passing, introduced a distinctive and intriguing style in films that left a lasting mark on cinematic history, earning him the title “Master of Suspense.”
With a career spanning six decades, here’s a closer look at Hitchcock’s very best works and achievements as an iconic director.
Before fame and glory, Hitchcock had his fair share of struggles. In fact, he didn't begin his career as a director but as a title card designer for silent films in the early 1920s.
After a series of failed attempts to have his directorial debut, his passion and vision were reignited with the release of Pleasure Garden in 1925, marking it as his first completed feature-length film.
After releasing his second movie, the romantic melodrama The Mountain Eagle in 1926, Hitchcock found his genre and began focusing on thrillers, crime, mystery and psychological drama that he is now known for.
This is where the mystery crime fiction, The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, made its debut.
Released in 1927, this was the director’s first major commercial success, despite hesitation from the distributors.
Interestingly, the box-office hit marked the first true “Hitchcock” movie, fully showcasing his signature style and storytelling elements.
Alfred Hitchcock gestures as he gives a press conference in Paris to present his last movie "Psycho" 18 October 1960.Based on the best-selling novel by Marie Belloc Lowndes, the story was inspired by the murders of Jack the Ripper.
In the mid-1930s, Hitchcock had his international breakthrough after releasing the adaptation of the spy thriller novel The 39 Steps by John Buchan.
This is where the British filmmaker established his legendary status both in the U.S. and the U.K., further solidifying his title as “Master of Suspense.”
From then on, he continued to create masterpieces, this time with larger production budgets and top-tier stars in his ensemble casts.
In 1940, Hitchcock’s film Rebecca won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Two decades later, the award-winning director released his most famous and influential work, introducing the “slasher” film Psycho.
With a production budget of $800,000, which the filmmaker personally financed, the movie starred Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh, who earned her Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes.

‘Brady Bunch’ Star Eve Plumb Opens Up About One of Her Saddest TV Roles
Eve Plumb is best known for her role as Jan Brady on The Brady Bunch. But the actress had a successful acting career in the years before she signed onto the life-changing ABCsitcom. In the 1960s, the former child star appeared in guest roles on The Big Valley, Lassie, Dick Tracy, Mannix, and more.
In her memoir, Happiness Included, Plumb, 67, recalled working on the show Family Affair. The CBS series starred Brian Keith as a New York City bachelor who takes in his late brother's three orphaned children, Cissy, Jody, and Buffy (played by Kathy Garver, Johnny Whitaker, and Anissa Jones). Plumb appeared in the tearjerker 1968 episode titled “Christmas Came a Little Early.” Her character’s name was also Eve.
“I played a classmate of Buffy and Jody’s who can only attend classes by speaker phone because I'm bedridden and terminally ill,” Plumb shared in her book.
The actress noted that it was hard for her mom, Flora, to see her in a wheelchair wearing jaundiced makeup to make her look sick. She added that the last scene in the episode was Buffy sobbing over the death of Plumb's character. “I’m surprised my mom made it through the shooting schedule,” Plumb wrote.
In an interview with Woman’s World, Family Affair star Garver recalled the classic episode, which aired on November 11, 1968, and noted that the actors really cried during filming.
“Buffy’s friend is very ill and she’s dying,” Garver recalled. “We don’t see her die, but Buffy is changed, and Brian’s trying to comfort her. There were real tears in that one.”
Eve Plumb said her mom disconnected from the episodePlumb also talked about the Family Affair episode in an interview with the Pop Culture Preservation Society. She noted that her mother was into astrology and the science of mind, which she described as "Christian science with aspirin.”
“We certainly went to doctors and everything, but it was all about you know, speak your word and be positive and be careful what you tell people because not everybody wishes you well, which is generally true,” Plumb shared. “But it had a big thread of creating your world out of, you're creating your reality. So you have to be careful what you say, how you act, and what you do."
"So she must have been able to do some kind of a disconnect in her head because for me to pretend to be sick, for me to have the actual, my own name of being a sick little girl who dies at Christmas… I mean, she probably had to like do extra affirmations by the side and take extra aspirin," Plumb added. "I don't know. I wish I could remember, you know, if she and the drive home [saying], you know, ‘You're not really sick and it's just play acting and all of that,’ you know. She must have done that because she believes so strongly that your thoughts become your reality.”

The actress who played Buffy died at a young ageIn her book, Plumb recalled working with Family Affair star Jones, who was about her age and had auditioned for TV roles and commercials with her in the past. While she didn’t know Jones well, Plumb shared, "There was an unspoken link between us, knowing that other children didn’t have lives like ours.”
Jones died in 1976 of a drug overdose at age 18. Plumb admitted that when she found out about Jones’s death, she was “sad but not shocked.”
“I think unfortunately, it happened at such a remove,” she added in the podcast interview. “Like for me, because that was my only interaction with her was when I worked with her on the show. That it was very much like you have read about the death of a celebrity that you are aware of but haven't seen in a long time. A little bit like whistling past the graveyard. That tragedy hadn't been my tragedy. That I was fortunate enough to not be addicted to drugs. And I don't know how that happened, but it just did.”
“So, it was sad and strange,” The Brady Bunch star said.
You'll Have Two More Royal Caribbean Icon Megaships to Sail By 2030
If you thought the world's largest cruise ships couldn't get any bigger, Royal Caribbean just proved there's plenty of room left on the horizon. The cruise line has officially confirmed orders for its sixth and seventh Icon-class ships, set to debut in 2029 and 2030. For those of us who track these "cities at sea," this news means the next decade is officially booked for record-breaking thrills and those signature, memory-making family vacations we’ve come to expect.
The announcement comes just as the third sister in the fleet, Legend of the Seas, is undergoing sea trials in Finland ahead of her highly anticipated July 2026 debut in the Western Mediterranean.
By the time the seventh ship hits the water, Royal Caribbean will have a literal navy of these giants, each designed to zero out the mental load of family vacation planning. “The Icon Class reflects our bold creativity and engineering excellence that continues to define what a vacation can be,” said Jason Liberty, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group in a release. He notes that the goal is to continue "reimagining the industry for decades to come."
Fun-Packed Days from Thrill Island to Chill Island Royal Caribbean will introduce double The Hideaway on Hero of the Seas with two pools for adults, including the largest swim-up bar at sea. With an in-water DJ and incredible views from the infinity pool, the adults-only oasis will turn up both the party and relaxation vibes.Royal Caribbean
If you haven't stepped aboard an Icon-class ship yet, the sheer scale is designed to offer something for every speed of traveler. You have Thrill Island, which features Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea with six record-breaking slides, and then there's Chill Island, a three-deck sanctuary with four pools and the first swim-up bar at sea, Swim & Tonic. It’s the ultimate "choose your own adventure" setup—where the teens can conquer the Crown’s Edge (a part-skywalk, part-ropes course) while the adults retreat to The Hideaway, the dedicated adults-only pool deck.
What sets the Icon class apart is that the innovation doesn't stop when you leave the ship. Beyond having the most diverse selection of restaurants and some of the highest-rated entertainment at sea, Royal Caribbean is seamlessly integrating the "Iconic" experience into their destinations. Liberty noted that the fleet expansion is part of a broader effort to "reimagine the industry" by broadening how guests experience vacations across "oceans, rivers and land." This integrated approach means Mediterranean sailings now include stops at the newly opened Royal Beach Club Santorini, while Caribbean routes center on established spots like Perfect Day at CocoCay and the upcoming Royal Beach Club Paradise Island.
The Roadmap to 2030With seven ships now in the pipeline, here's how the next few years of "Iconic" travel are shaping up:
- Legend of the Seas (July 2026): Making its debut with seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries departing from Barcelona and Rome.
- Hero of the Seas (August 2027): Launching from Miami with a new Ultimate Family Treehouse and eight distinct neighborhoods.
- Unnamed Fifth Ship (2028): Continuing the expansion as Royal Caribbean grows its private destination portfolio.
- Sixth and Seventh Ships (2029 & 2030): The newest members of the fleet, which are expected to refine the "biggest and best" features even further.
The confirmation of the sixth and seventh Icon-class ships proves that Royal Caribbean isn't just building boats; they’re building the future of the family vacation. By blending record-breaking thrills with sophisticated relaxation, the cruise line is ensuring that the next decade of sea travel will be as seamless as it is spectacular.

Jack McBrayer Still Has One of Kenneth's NBC Page Uniforms"They did give me a page uniform after we wrapped," McBrayer exclusively tells Parade on a recent Zoom call. "I haven't worn it, because that'd be kind of weird..."
However, someone else has worn it: his close friend, actor Alexander Skarsgård.
"We had to go to a Halloween party, and he did not have a costume. I said, 'If you promise not to rip it, you can wear this.' So Alexander Skarsgård went as Kenneth the Page to a Halloween party a few years ago."
Unfortunately, there do not appear to be any photos of this moment on the internet.
"He's like, twice as big as me. I was like, 'Don't rip it,'" McBrayer jokes. "He's such a good actor. He just made himself smaller."

McBrayer also points out that this October will mark 20 years since 30 Rock premiered. "Gonna have to squeeze into that page uniform one more time," he says with a laugh.
Additionally, 30 Rock's props department gave McBrayer "a couple of Kenneth type things" when the show wrapped, including some decor from Stone Mountain, Georgia, which was his character's hometown.
Jack McBrayer Has Many Photos From the 30 Rock Set in His HouseMcBrayer also has a bunch of photos taken behind-the-scenes when filming 30 Rock on display in a guest bedroom in his house.
"I did take a lot of photos during the course of 30 Rock," McBrayer says. "I would take photos with all of our famous guest stars. We had so many guest stars."
Guest stars on 30 Rock included Mary Steenburgen, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Keaton, Jennifer Aniston, Robert De Niro, Vice President Al Gore, Oprah Winfrey, Peter Dinklage, Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Martin... the list goes on.
Jack McBrayer as Kenneth Parcell and Mary Steenburgen as Diana Jessup on the 30 Rock episode "Queen of Jordan 2: The Mystery of the Phantom Pooper." Elizabeth Banks as Avery Jessup and Jack McBrayer as Kenneth Parcell on the 30 Rock episode "The Moms." Tina Fey as Liz Lemon, Michael Keaton as Tom, and Jack McBrayer as Kenneth on the 30 Rock episode "100.""Those photos lived in my dressing room [during taping]," McBrayer says. "Now I display them in one of the guest rooms. I was like, it might be too narcissistic to just have them in my own room. 'Oh, I'm gorgeous! Look at me, look how many famous people!'"

The narrow bookcase comes in two neutral colors, black and white, and is designed for tight spaces where a regular shelf or cabinet likely wouldn’t be able to squeeze in.
The bookcase measures 21.18 inches high by 5.91 inches wide by 9.29 inches deep and weighs 4.4 pounds. It features two shelves, an adjustable design, and a wood composite frame. It also has a very slim six-inch frame and a sleek finish that would work perfectly with modern, minimalist, or coastal decor.
Homlux 2-Tier Adjustable Storage Bookcase, $38 (was $74) at Target Shop at TargetAt under six inches wide, this bookcase can fit into spots that are usually too narrow for larger furniture but still wide enough to collect clutter. It could hold extra hand towels, washcloths, toilet paper, skincare, or small bottles in a bathroom, or it could store dryer sheets, stain removers, lint rollers, or folded cleaning cloths in a laundry room. You could even place it next to a couch in a living room, so you have a designated spot to hold remotes, books, or other small decor items without needing a larger side table.
One reviewer called the bookcase the “perfect addition,” creating a “very cozy atmosphere.” Another shopper wrote, “The narrow design fits perfectly into the gaps between the washbasin and the wall,” adding, “Every inch of space is utilized, enhancing the storage capacity.”

Brian Entin Discusses Upcoming Nancy Guthrie Special and Why the Case Has Gripped the Public (Exclusive)
If you've been following the Nancy Guthrie case, you undoubtedly know who Brian Entin is. The journalist, who has been with NewsNation since it launched in 2020, spent weeks in Arizona covering the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie's mom. He's become the go-to reporter in the case, providing the latest updates, eye-opening interviews, and on-the-ground reporting that has helped piece together one of the most widely followed investigations in the country.
Entin got his start at a local news station in Miami and began covering crime during the disappearance of Gabby Petito in 2021. Since then, he’s become a trusted source on national cases, including the Bryan Kohberger case and, of course, the Guthrie case.
Now, in an exclusive interview with Parade, Entin shares his take on the case ahead of a new television special—NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery—that will air on the CW on Wednesday, May 6.

"I've been covering [the Guthrie case] for 87 days now, and we've had a ton of stories, obviously, on NewsNation, but we haven't really been able to put everything in one place, like from beginning to end and all the stuff that we've uncovered and the information we've gotten from our sources. So it'll be an hour jam-packed full of everything that we've uncovered on the case," Entin tells me.

The show will feature three criminal profilers; Dr. Ann Burgess, Dr. Gary Brocato, and Dr. Casey Jordan. The three, along with Entin, met in Boston to discuss the ongoing investigation and piece together key elements of the Guthrie case. Their goal: to build a clearer profile of the suspect—an approach Entin described as “totally new.”
"I think people [will find the special] interesting because [the profilers] have some fascinating theories based on past cases they've worked, as well as statistics," Entin tells Parade. "They're really focused on patterns in other crimes and kidnappings to help narrow down motive and who they think this [suspect] could be."
Parade also asked Entin why he thinks people are so invested in the Guthrie case.
"I think initially it was because it was Savannah Guthrie's mom, and there was sort of the celebrity element," Entin tells me. "But the more I've covered it, the more I actually think it's because she's an older woman, 84 years old, I think people like me, you relate to your parents getting older."
"There's always this sense of uneasiness that someone's gonna take advantage of them or you think of the people who go to their houses but it's contractors or whether it's a home health [aide], you're always kind of on guard, even with the scammers now...people are always calling old people and scamming them. I think people connected to this, for that reason, because they thought of their own parents and how vulnerable they are, and it's sort of this like fear that so many of us live with," he adds.
In Entin's words, Nancy is like "everybody's grandma."
Nancy has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1, and investigators believe she was abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night. Despite receiving thousands of tips, both the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI have been unable to locate Nancy or identify those responsible for her disappearance. Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery will air on the CW on Wednesday, May 6 at 9 p.m. ET.

1994 Love Ballad From a Blockbuster Film Reached No. 1 After Winning an Oscar 31 Years Ago
The Lion King soundtrack was the top-selling album in the country in 1994, selling 4.9 million copies. The film was also the highest grossing worldwide that year, becoming one of the biggest franchises in history. There were many popular songs from the classic film, but the biggest were “Circle of Life,” which reached No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” which reached No. 4.
The album itself spent 10 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and remained in the top 40 for over a full year. This was a first for Walt Disney Records. No other soundtrack from an animated movie had reached this position before.
In March 1995, the popularity of the soundtrack skyrocketed once more when “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” won the best original song after competing against “Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata.” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” also won a Grammy Award and a Golden Globe Award that year.
“On the April 29, 1995-dated Billboard 200, a few weeks after the Oscars and the film’s release on home video, The Lion King returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for its 10th and final week on top, more than seven months after it had last led,” Billboardreported.

“Can You Feel the Love Tonight” was composed by Elton John. It was originally meant to be sung by only Timon and Pumbaa, but John wasn’t happy with the idea. In the end, the song was sung by an off-screen voice with short lines from the characters. John also released his own version of the song, which was played in the closing credits.
As one fan said, “Movie version: A solid 8.5/10. A very good song, romantic and very fitting for the mood in that scene. Elton John's version: Without a doubt a 10/10. Although it's my second favorite when compared to Elton John's other works, I still consider it as one of his greatest songs.”
Since then, more Disney songs have hit the Billboard charts, including tunes from Encanto, Frozen, and High School Musical.
Sally Field Looks Back on 62 Years—and Reveals Why She’s Not Done Yet (Exclusive)
Free tip if you ever meet Sally Field: Do not rave to her that she’s had a legendary career. She’ll just casually beg off the compliment.
“I don’t know,” she tells Parade in our exclusive cover story interview. “I’ve been here. I’m here. I’ve been here. I’m still here. I’m still here.”
Okay, but it’s true. Since first appearing as an apple-cheeked teen on the popular sitcomGidget 62 years ago, the actress has amassed 70 credits in projects that you know and love. Not only has she made audiences laugh in timeless classics like Smokey and the Bandit (1977) and Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), but she’s also responsible for countless ugly cries courtesy of Steel Magnolias (1989), Forrest Gump (1994) and Lincoln (2012).
Field’s success has also led to two Best Actress Oscars for 1979’s Norma Rae and 1984’s Places in the Heart. She's also garnered three Emmys for her performances in the 1976 TV movie Sybil, her 2000 guest arc on ER and in 2007 for the family drama Brothers & Sisters.
With a milestone birthday approaching—she turns 80 on Nov. 6—the California native is adding to her impressive IMDb profile with a movie that feels like a warm, welcoming embrace. In the upcoming Netflix film Remarkably Bright Creatures, Field plays Tova—a widowed cleaner working the night shift at a small-town aquarium who forges a special bond with a fellow loner (Lewis Pullman). Together, the two care for an aging mollusk named Marcellus and learn how to break free of their respective confines. The heartfelt tale is based on the 2022 bestselling novel of the same name and hits Netflix on May 8. “It’s a unique story because it’s about the human condition,” she says.
The Untold Story of Sally Field: Burt Reynolds, an Arrest, and Her Famous Oscar Speech (6:00)While speaking via Zoom from her home in the Pacific Palisades, Field lovingly cradles her own remarkably bright creature—her adorable Cavapoo Dashiell “Dash” Hammett, named after The Maltese Falcon crime writer. “He’s just the best little companion,” she says. Field is also a proud mom to three grown sons: screenwriter and author Peter Craig, screenwriter/director Eli Craig and writer/producer Sam Greisman, and she has five “amazing” grandkids.
As for that remarkably durable career? Though Field insists she has yet to take on her defining performance, she’s still game to discuss her greatest hits and more with Parade.
Nino Muñoz/Netflix
Parade: You haven’t appeared onscreen in more than three years. Why was this the right role for you?
Sally Field: First of all, I was very predisposed to wanting to do it because I had this little creature come into my life in 2019. And this is about the profound connection that human beings have to creatures. But more than that, it's about family and healing and love.
Do you have a lot in common with Tova other than the animal connection?
Well, I’m the same age. But I’m not really sure. So much of what you see in the film is impromptu between Lewis Pullman and myself. So I don’t know. I’m never ever able to say how much is me.
You’ve previously co-starred with Bill Pullman. Was it a little surreal working with his son?
No, no. Bill and I did something on stage [in All My Sons], which is very different than doing film. But the similarities are that Lewis is hugely talented like his dad. It runs in the family.

When you started off, what kind of career did you envision for yourself?
I wanted to be an actor. I studied to be an actor. It is my language with myself. It is how I have learned who I am, and I'm continuing to learn who I am. So I can't even look at it like that. It took me a long time to get out of situation comedy television in the 1960s. But I studied acting for a long time in the '70s and early '80s and found myself watching what other people were doing on the screen. And I went to The Actors Studio in New York.
What was it like hearing your name called for Best Actress for the first time?
It’s hard to describe how all of that had gone down. Like I said, I worked so hard to get out of television. People wouldn't let me in a room to audition. It was such a battle to even get onto a list. But I told myself that I had the power to change within myself. I had to get better. Sybil was the beginning of the transition. But for Norma Rae, we premiered in Cannes and I had won a lot of awards for it. By the time I got to the Oscars, I was sort of numb. I couldn't feel anything, and it was almost like too much. That whole year was almost too much for me to calculate, to put in my head. I really am not good at that part. I'm not good at doing the whole glam stuff.
If you had to guess which movie of yours is the unofficial favorite among Millennials, what would you say?
[Pauses] Mrs. Doubtfire.
Agreed. Why do you think it still resonates? It can’t just be Robin Williams in a dress.
The movie is about something really valid and important. It’s a lot of laughter, but it's about the difficulties of divorce for children and how, ultimately, the mom and the dad can get divorced, and the kids will still be okay. Kids need to know this, and they need to know that sometimes divorce is the very best thing because sometimes when moms and dads feel they need to stay together for the kids, it's a bad message. You want your children to understand that finding a partner to support you and love you and grow with you and challenge you is a really wonderful thing, and if it isn't working, that's okay, too. Not every relationship is supposed to last till the end of time.

There are also no bad guys in that movie.
Yes, that is certainly something that Chris [Columbus] the director and Robin and I wanted to do. That’s what we wanted to say to the kids. It’s just life. And if you clamp down and stay on this one thing, you miss all of life’s fabulous colors.
Was it at all strange for you to play Tom Hanks’ mom in Forrest Gump considering that you were his peer in Punchline six years earlier?
No. It's a great moment for an actor. I was honored to be asked. I was playing younger than I was, and I was playing older than I was, and what's wrong with that? And in Punchline, I wasn't his love interest—I was his peer. I was a housewife, a mother, and he was this undisciplined kid shot from the cannons. Forrest Gump was a great work experience.

What are some of your fondest memories working with all those incredible actresses in Steel Magnolias? There was Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Julia Roberts...
Just like Mrs. Doubtfire and Forrest Gump and even Norma Rae and certainly Smokey and the Bandit and Steel Magnolias . . . these were just great, great experiences. With Steel Magnolias, we all had a wonderful time together. We adored each other, we fought with each other, we cared for each other, we would get together on the weekends and play games. It was a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

Could you sense that Julia Roberts would become such a big star?
Yes. I read with a whole lot of actors for that role. Julia had not done very much. I read with a lot of much more established actors, and after I read with Julia, I said, “We're done. We're done. There she is.”
Was filming the movie’s funeral scene just as traumatic for you as it was for audiences? Or is it another day at the office?
You don't just think of it as “Oh, it's just another day of the office.” It takes a part of your soul. It costs you. It cost every one of us. And we get a great deal of return from it because we learn from it. We were certainly bonded in it, holding each other's hands the whole time. But it’s not just a job.

Did you really turn down The First Wives Club?
I did turn it down. I loved all of those actors, but I have always had a problem with older women either wanting to get a date or looking to like, you know, have more sex with their husband. Or I just feel like there's more for women to say, so that was just never my cup of tea. For First Wives Club, first of all, I could never have been as good as... I think it was [Diane] Keaton that came in after me. I couldn't have done that role because I don't sing, and they all did that at the end. I would never have been as good. I mean, it was absolutely right for Keaton, not for me.
In that movie, Goldie Hawn memorably says that there are only three types of roles for women in Hollywood: babe, district attorney and Miss Daisy. Have you found that to be true?
No. I’ve been working for 62 years. I’ve never been a babe. I’ve never been an attorney. I’ve yet to be Miss Daisy, even though it’s a magnificent role and a magnificent film. I’d actually love to do it. That’s my feeling.
Gidget wasn’t considered a babe back in the day?
Oh my god, are you kidding? She was the opposite. She was a tomboy. She just wants to surf.

Many years later, you did play iconic FLOTUS Mary Todd Lincoln. Have you seen Oh, Mary! on Broadway?
I went with Tony Kushner, who wrote Lincoln. He called me and said, “We have to go.” It was right after it opened off-Broadway near my apartment in the West Village. And I said “Okay” and he called Steven Spielberg. So Steven and Tony and I went together. I thought it was brilliant! And they all came out and said hi to us.
Were you surprised that all three of your sons went into the business?
You don't think like that. I mean, certainly all I wanted for my kids was for them to find something that they needed to do. This is who they are. This is what they do. And Peter was writing always. He was a novelist before he was a screenwriter, and Eli was a serious mountain climber and extremist outdoorsman, and it translated into another dangerous arena, which is filmmaking and storytelling. Sam was always a storyteller.
Let’s hear about your life in the Palisades.
My house almost burned down. I did this film a year ago. That fire was a year and a half ago, so I went back and forth to New York several times because I'm working on a play that I think goes into rehearsals at the end of August. But I can’t tell you about it yet. So I've been back and forth many times. This is the life of an actor.
What was the last great movie that you’ve seen?
I saw a lot of them. One Battle After Another. Frankensteinwas fabulous. Hamnet was really, really, really, beautifully, beautifully done. They're all so different and so powerful and so beautifully done. And Remarkably Bright Creatures is one of those few films that comes out every year that talks to us about things we know, like sadness and then love and forgiveness.
What role do you consider to be your crowning achievement?
I hope I haven't done it. All performances, the films, the characters I've been lucky enough to portray always changed me. They never left me, but I was always different after and so they informed me, they have pushed me. They have been my best friend and my worst enemy. So I can't look at any of them—even the films that I will love. They are my friends. I can't pick one over the other there, and that wouldn't be fair. Even the rotten ones.
You really don’t have a lot of duds.
I could tell you some. But we won’t go into that!
As an actress, how do you feel about turning 80?
You’re always changing. So I’m looking at what does 80 offer me? What can I do that I’ve never been before? What will there be for that 80-year-old actor that I didn't have as a 50-year-old actor or 40 or 30 or 20 or 17? So it's always a journey. But I’m grateful to be on it.

Parade was given an exclusive sneak peek atFire Country Season 4 Episode 17, titled “Sometimes the Chaos Wins," which airs on Friday, May 1.
The teaser features a very frustrated Sharon (Diane Farr) and Manny (Kevin Alejandro), as they vent to each other. They are each struggling for very different reasons, but thankfully have each other for support.
In the clip, Manny finds Sharon trying to fix the fire truck, and it’s not going well. Sharon is frustrated and reaches a breaking point, which prompts Manny to check on her.
"Sharon, you can't fix it, you can't fix everything, all right? Some things are just out of your control," he tells her, but Sharon pivots to a different topic—Manny's ex, Roberta (Paola Núñez), popping back up in Edgewater.
Roberta’s timing couldn’t be worse either, as Manny just embarked on a new romance with Camille (Natalie Zea). It turns out Roberta won’t leave Manny alone, "calling, texting, freaking Camille out," and the latter isn’t interested in having his meddling ex around.

Manny hints that things with Roberta always get bad before revealing that, at least this time, Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) won’t be around to see the damage Roberta does to his life.
"I'm not going to get sucked in," he tells Sharon, and while it's good advice, Sharon still has to deal with the fire truck.
Fire Country Sneak Peek (1:23)The clip highlights the close friendship between Sharon and Manny, which has been strong since Fire Country premiered on CBS. Manny and Sharon have a bestie bond like no other, and it has only gotten stronger since Vince's (Billy Burke) death.

Social Security Recipients Won't Be Eligible For Hefty $6k Tax Deduction If They Make This 'Mistake'
Tax season may be over for some, but there are many Americans who are always on the lookout for tax breaks and deductions so that they are able to save a few extra bucks the next time Uncle Sam comes calling. Now, a change to the way federal taxes are collected could impact those retirees who filed an extension this year, especially if they made one specific choice when deciding when to retire.
And that decision could set them back up to $6,000, according to some calculations. Keep reading to find out what the deduction is for and whether or not your age at retirement will make you ineligible to claim this Social Security-related tax break.
Retirees Who Clocked Out Before Their Full Retirement Age are Ineligible for This New DeductionI hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you retired before your official full retirement age (FRA), you will be ineligible to take the newly created $6,000 senior tax deduction (or $12,000 for those filing jointly). According to The Motley Fool, that could leave 2.5 million retirees out in the cold come tax time.
The tax deduction was added to Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act, according to the administration, to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits. However, the publication notes that it doesn't go far enough to eliminate the tax burden on America's retirees, especially those who retired before their FRA, since they are not eligible to take the deduction.
Related: New Report Sounds the Alarm About the 'Catastrophic' Effects of Social Security Cuts
How to Tell if You QualifyAccording to Thomson Reuters, only those making under $75,000 when filing single, or $150,000 when filing jointly, will qualify for the full tax break. Then, the discount phases out for those who make more than that, lowering by $60 for every $1,000 you earn over that amount until you reach $150,000 when filing single or $250,000 when filing jointly, eliminating the benefit entirely for higher income earners.
The Deduction Isn't PermanentIf you are one of those retirees who qualify for the deduction, you shouldn't count on having the ability to use it to reduce your taxable income every year. The Motley Fool notes that the deduction will only be available to qualifying Social Security recipients through 2028.
However, if you want to claim the deduction while you can, you'll need to be at least 65 before midnight on the last taxable day of the year.
While the deduction may help some Social Security recipients lower their tax burden and keep more money in their pockets, many experts seem to believe that the discount doesn't go far enough to help most Americans. Meanwhile, others worry that the tax break will only further harm the Social Security Administration's (SSA's) growing money troubles, causing the account to run out of funds quicker than the estimated date that it's currently estimated to become insolvent.

This Stephen King Movie Flop Just Spent 100 Straight Days Proving Doubters Wrong
When The Running Manopened in theaters last November, the reception was grim. Edgar Wright's adaptation of Stephen King's 1982 novel, originally published under King's pseudonym Richard Bachman, earned just $68.5 million worldwide against a $110 million budget. Critics were divided. Audiences were thin and Hollywood wrote it off as a failure.
Then it hit streaming.
The film debuted on Paramount+ on January 13 and dominated the charts for several weeks. Then it stayed. And stayed. And stayed some more. On April 23, it celebrated a notable milestone, 100 consecutive days on Paramount+'s U.S. streaming charts without ever once leaving them. As of that date, it sat in eighth place in the U.S. and second place on the platform's global charts.
That kind of sustained presence is genuinely rare. Most movies spike in their first week on a streaming service and fade quickly. The Running Man never faded.
Related: What Was Found in Stephen King's Private Archive Changes How You'll Read His Books Forever
The film flopped almost instantly in theaters, then headed to digital platforms in mid-December, where it finally got some attention. What audiences found when they settled in at home was a sharp, high-energy dystopian thriller that works considerably better at a relaxed pace than it did competing against Wicked and Zootopia 2 for multiplex dollars in a crowded holiday marketplace.
Glen Powell plays Ben Richards, a working-class man caught up in The Running Man, a deadly reality competition where contestants must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins. Powell's performance earned near-universal praise even when the film itself divided critics. Audiences were more generous than critics, giving it a 77 percent approval rating.
The 1987 version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, has long held cult status despite its own mixed reviews and loose adaptation of King's source material. Wright's version is more faithful to King's novel, with one notable exception. In King's original the ending is bleak, whereas in Wright's it is not.
The ensemble cast assembled around Powell includes William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin, a murderers' row of character actors who likely contributed to strong word-of-mouth once viewers actually found the thing.
The film's Paramount+ success has since translated to Prime Video as well, debuting in fifth place when it arrived on that platform in April. It's a genuinely unusual trajectory, theatrical bomb to multi-platform streaming hit in the span of five months.
King himself saw it coming. Before the film's theatrical release, he called it 'fantastic, DIE HARD for our time.' Audiences on Paramount+ seem to agree, even if the multiplex didn't.

New trailer: RUNNING MAN.
BTW: I've seen it and it's fantastic. DIE HARD for our time.
A bipartisan thrill ride.
1955 ‘I Love Lucy’ Episode, Starring William Holden, Was Ranked No. 1 in the Entire Series
I Love Lucy premiered in 1951 and ran for six seasons, ending in 1957. There were 180 episodes overall, but the highest rated of the entire series took place during season four. It was titled: “L.A. at Last!”
This episode revolved around the Ricardos and the Mertzes visiting Hollywood. Lucy decided to eat at the famous Brown Derby restaurant to hunt for celebrities and ended up sitting near one of the biggest actors of the time, William Holden.
However, Holden quickly got annoyed by her staring and gave her a taste of her own medicine, watching her every move. Lucy got into her usual antics throughout the rest of the episode, spilling a tray of pies all over Holden and lighting her fake nose on fire after getting into a disguise to fool him. In the end, she and Holden shared a kiss, and she fainted in his arms.
Lucille Ball and Holden knew each other in real life. Two and a half years before her iconic sitcom was created, they both starred in the 1949 romantic comedyMiss Grant Takes Richmond. It was about a “newly hired dumb secretary” working for a bookie who was pretending to be a realtor.
Holden was considered one of the greatest male stars in Classic Hollywood cinema. He won an Academy Award for his role in Stalag 17 and a Primetime Emmy for The Blue Knight. He also appeared in Sunset Boulevard, Sabrina, and The Bridge on the River Kwai.

When speaking about Holden's episode of I Love Lucy, a writer fromClassic Film and TV Cornerpointed out that the scenes must have mirrored the actor's real life experiences: “Would those who think it is fine to approach celebrities in these places be happy to have people intrude on their personal space in the same way? I seriously doubt the answer to that would be yes. I have no doubt that William Holden must have loved being able to react to this issue in this episode in a way that he surely must have wished to do sometimes himself during various encounters with people.”
Lainey Wilson Disguised Herself at Stagecoach and Interviewed Her Own Fans - They Had No Idea
Lainey Wilson just pulled off one of the most adorable, most delightful pranks in country music history, and honestly, it's exactly the kind of thing that makes fans love her so much.
Two days after headlining Stagecoach on Saturday, April 25, the 33-year-old country star revealed on TikTok that she went completely undercover at the festival to interview fans — including fans who came specifically to see her perform.
"It's Britney, bitch," Wilson declared in her TikTok video, channeling Britney Spears' iconic line while rocking a black wig in her glam chair.

"Well, I can't even talk like that until I get the wig on," Wilson admitted in her usual Louisiana accent before the transformation began. "Got it fried, dyed and laid to the side, baby."
Once fully disguised with the wig, sunglasses, hat and different outfit, Wilson hit the festival grounds with a mic. "They have absolutely no clue," she whispered to the camera before approaching unsuspecting festival-goers.

She interviewed one young girl who said she was most excited to see Lainey Wilson perform. Then Wilson asked a group of fans: "Do you happen to have a favorite Lainey Wilson song or do you know anything about her?"
"Yeah, I love '4x4,'" one fan responded enthusiastically. Another mentioned "Heart Like a Truck."
Then came Wilson's best self-deprecating joke. Pointing to a giant horse statue, she deadpanned into the mic: "I'm not sure about that Lainey Wilson girl. She's really just a huge horse's ass."
Why Lainey Wilson's Undercover Mission Shows Exactly Why Fans Adore HerThe reveals were absolute happiness. "Just so you know, it is Lainey. I am Lainey Wilson. It's me with the black wig on," she told her stunned interviewees.
"Shut up!" one fan screamed. "No it's not, oh my gosh!" said another shocked fan before getting a hug from the disguised star.

Fans flooded the comments with love. "This is iconic," one wrote. "Could you get any more awesome," asked another. Someone from Temecula chimed in: "Not me living in Temecula."
But one comment captured something much deeper and profound at its core: "You know what I love about Lainey Wilson? She is an absolute icon, a megastar, and instead of using her celebrity as a shield in the world (like most) she uses her celebrity to get into rooms and do things she would not otherwise have the way and means to do."
That's exactly the point. Wilson could've stayed comfortably backstage before her headlining performance. Instead, she put on a silly black wig and walked the grounds, interviewing her own fans, making jokes about herself, and creating magical moments those fans will remember forever. She’s really connecting with her ans on a human level and that’s inspirational.
Her set was delayed that night due to strong winds that had the festival temporarily evacuated. "Thank you so much for sticking out the wind," she told attendees when the show finally began. "Hopefully you sat in y'all's cars for a bit and drank some tequila."
Before signing off as Britney West, Wilson walked through Stagecoach happily declaring: "Stagecoach, bitch!"
Classic Lainey, enjoying and appreciating everything she's achieved — and bringing fans along for the awesome ride.

During their 15 years of marriage, Middleton and Prince William have weathered plenty of trials and scandals within the royal family. Both Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip died, and Prince Andrew is no longer a prince, for starters. The future king was also by his wife's side as she announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, before sharing that she was "cancer-free" that September. Middleton then announced that her cancer was in remission in January 2025.

I'm a PBS Host Who's Writing the Book on American History—Here's the One Place to Celebrate America's 250th
When it comes to America’s 250th anniversary, the "usual suspects" like Boston and Philadelphia are already bracing for the crowds. But according to Emmy-nominated PBS host Darley Newman, the real "MVP" of the semi-quincentennial is a city that often flies under the radar for Revolutionary history: Charleston, South Carolina.
As Newman prepares for the launch of her new book, Revolutionary Road Trip, she’s been crisscrossing the original 13 colonies to find the spots where history feels the most alive. “I think what's interesting about the 250th is the first places that most people think about are Boston and Philadelphia, you think about Williamsburg... a lot of people are going to do D.C., but I have been very purposefully traveling to other places,” Newman tells Parade. “Charleston has such a great story related to the American Revolution. So does South Carolina in general, which is often an underdog.”
Having grown up in the area, Newman wanted to create a way for visitors to experience the "Spanish moss and history" she loves. She’s officially soft-launching her first-ever historic walking tour app, allowing travelers to follow her personal route through the city. “I just went down a few weeks ago to test it myself,” Newman says. “You can spend two or three days just exploring the history through these different locations.” Read on for the top sites Newman recommends including on your itinerary:

View this post on Instagram The ‘Carolina Days’ Summer StrategyIf you want to time your visit for maximum impact, Newman suggests circling the week of June 27 to July 5 for the "Carolina Days" festival. “That's going to be a huge series of events in the city related to the 250th,” she notes. “There'll be talks and lectures, there's parties, there's a scavenger hunt planned. I think there's going to be a lot of different things in the works that travelers can visit and do.” Beyond the festival, Newman notes that the city is packed with year-round landmarks she’s explored throughout her PBS series.

Revolutionary Secrets: The Fortress in the SquareFor Newman, the best way to experience Charleston is by looking for what she calls the "hidden in plain sight" landmarks.
- The Hornwork: “Marion Square Park has the hornwork, which is a number one hidden gem. It's a colonial fortress left over from the Revolution, which is wild and locals don't even know about it.” The structure is actually made of tabby (a concrete-like mixture of oyster shells, lime and sand) and served as the "city gate" where American forces officially surrendered to the British in May 1780.
- The Women’s Perspective: Newman recommends the Heyward-Washington House (the same house where George Washington stayed) to get a more nuanced view of the war. “You can learn about women in the revolution and what they were going through, which I think is really interesting.” And in fact, it was later the home of John Grimké, whose daughters Sarah and Angelina Grimké became world-famous abolitionists and suffragists. Additionally, the Charleston Museum launched a specific Revolutionary War audio tour last year that highlights the experiences of women like Elizabeth "Betsy" Heyward, as well as enslaved people on the property.
- The Must-See Forts: While Fort Sumter is a famous Civil War landmark, Newman urges history buffs not to skip Fort Moultrie. “It was the site of a key early Revolutionary War victory,” she notes. “It’s a National Park site that is incredibly valuable for understanding the city's defenses.”
In a city known for high-end hospitality, Newman’s strategy is a "high-low" mix of stays to get the full local vibe. “I love staying at B&Bs because you talk to the other guests, you talk to the owners, you really get the vibe on the place,” she says.
- The Milestone Luxury: “If you're looking for more of a splurge, Wentworth Mansion would be it. There's a restaurant on site I just ate at called Circa 1886... it's a historic property and a true splurge.”
- The Historic Home: “I just stayed at the John Rutledge House Inn—a very cool historic property dating back to Revolutionary times. It's smaller and more intimate, and because it's a B&B, you have a nice breakfast included and it's very walkable.”
- The Modern View: For a more contemporary feel, Newman suggests The Dewberry. “It’s right by Marion Square and has an awesome rooftop where you can grab a drink and watch the sunset.”
- The Location Value: If you want a great location that won't necessarily break the bank, Newman recommends Kings Courtyard Inn. “It’s right on King Street, so it's walkable to all the shops and Meeting Street is right outside your doorstep.”
Charleston is a culinary powerhouse, but Newman suggests these local mainstays for a mix of elevated ingredients and casual fun:
- The "Heirloom" Experience: For a true taste of local ingredients, Newman recommends The Grocery. “Kevin Johnson is a James Beard-nominated chef who uses incredible heirloom ingredients,” she says.
- The Casual Crowd-Pleasers: If you’re looking for a fun, high-energy atmosphere, head to Leon’s Oyster Shop. Newman also loves The Darling Oyster Bar right near Marion Square: “It’s cute, fun and great if you want oysters.”
- The Famous Favorite: No trip to Charleston is complete without mentioning Husk, which Newman notes remains incredibly popular for those seeking modern Southern classics.
- A Quick Bite: For a quintessential Charleston snack, look for Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit—a fun and fast local favorite for breakfast or a midday treat.
For Newman, the most rewarding part of uncovering these stories is realizing how much of our history is still waiting to be discovered. “I wrote my book, Revolutionary Road Trip, because the full story—the roles of women, children, Black soldiers and Irish immigrants—isn't always in the history books,” she says. “By traveling to these locations, you can see yourself in this history in a way you didn't think possible.”
She credits the modern-day stewards at these sites for keeping that nuanced history alive. “These places exist because people have done the work to preserve them. When you visit and listen to these historians, you get a much fuller picture of the American story.” To see this preservation in action, she suggests a quick trip just outside the city to the Berkeley County Museum, where you can hike the same swampy boardwalk trails once traversed by the 'Swamp Fox' himself.
Whether you’re standing atop a hidden fortress or trekking through a Lowcountry swamp, Charleston offers a way to celebrate America’s 250th that feels both grand and deeply personal.
