Selena Gomez's Favorite Cookware Is Up to 25% Off Right Now, but It Won’t Be for Long

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 11:23am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Selena Gomez’s home cook era is still going strong, and we’re *so* here for it. The star hasn’t been shy about sharing what she uses in the kitchen, and one of the biggest cookware brands she endorses happens to be running a huge sale right now.

Our Place’s Food Lover’s Sale, a limited-time deals event, means you can score the mega-popular ceramic Always Pan for less when you bundle it with other products. Whether you could use a complete kitchen upgrade, or simply need a few fresh pots or pans, there’s never been a better time to shop at Our Place

The sale rewards you with discounts when you reach certain spending thresholds. So, if you shop the Home Cook Duo featuring Our Place’s two bestsellers, not only do you save from the bundle but you get 15% off your order at checkout. That drops the final price from $315 to $216, which is nearly $100 in savings.

When you spend $300 during the Food Lover’s Sale, you’ll get 20% off and when you spend $400, you’ll get 25% off. In other words, you’ll get bigger discounts when you buy more Our Place cookware. If you’re unsure of what to get, we recommend the Always Pan Trio that comes with 8.5-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.5-inch oven-safe pans.

The Always Pan originally went viral for its beautiful design and colorways meant to be left out on display. Pitched as a multifunctional piece of cookware, the ceramic pan quickly gained fans, including none other than Selena Gomez. The actress featured the Always Pan in her HBO Max cooking series Selena & Chef, then went on to release Our Place X Selena Gomez collections designed around curated color palettes.

But it’s not just Selena who loves her Always Pan. It has over 35,000 reviews to date, with some calling it the best pan they “ever owned,” highlighting how it “looks so beautiful” and offers “easy clean up.”

“The best pan I have ever owned,” wrote one reviewer. “It is the only pan I have used since it arrived. I have scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, fried eggs, made campers stew, boiled pasta using the strainer, cooked brown rice and popped popcorn in my 2.0. I will be baking brownies in the oven soon. I liked it so much that I bought one for my niece. The food slides and glides and never sticks.”

With that kind of feedback, it’s no wonder the Always Pan is so adored. Shop it now as part of the Our Place Food Lover’s Sale happening through Feb. 15.

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 10:46am

Bob Saget's widow, Kelly Rizzo, who was married to the Full House actor from October 2018 until his death in early 2022, is officially in a new relationship with actor Breckin Meyer

The 44-year-old actress and TV host debuted the new romance at a Grammys viewing party on Sunday, Feb. 4, with Rizzo and Meyer posing together on the red carpet flashing the camera a bright smile.

At the event, Rizzo rocked a leopard print long-sleeved dress with an asymmetrical hem and thigh-high boots, while Meyer went for a relaxed look in gray pants, a t-shirt and a dark gray denim jacket.

While speaking with E! News about her new romance, Rizzo admitted, "It took a while to get to the point where I'm like, ‘OK, I think he'd be happy with it.'"

She also noted that she's glad to have the blessing of Saget's daughters, Aubrey, Lara and Jennifer, whom he shares with ex-wife Sherri Kramer, saying, "It's wonderful, it just meant so much to have their blessing. They're just angels. And to have them support is so meaningful."

For those thinking that Meyer looks a little familiar, the actor has an extensive acting career, but many know him as Travis, the skater boy with a heart of gold, from 1995's CluelessOver the years, he has starred in other notable projects as well, including shows like Married to the Kellys, Good Girls and Franklin & Bash, while Meyer has also done a lot of great voice work, particularly for King of the Hill and Robot Chicken

Meyer was previously married to screenwriter and director Deborah Kaplan from 2001 to 2014, and the two share daughters Clover and Caitlin

As for Rizzo, she first connected with the late Saget in 2015, before getting engaged in 2017. They tied the knot on Oct. 29, 2018, and were together until Saget's death on Jan. 9, 2022. Over two years later, Rizzo is finally exploring love again with her new beau.

Luke Combs Cozies Up to Wife Nicole After Receiving a Standing Ovation for His Grammy Performance

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 10:43am

Luke Combs had a memorable night at the 2024 Grammys with his wife, Nicole Hocking, by his side.

The country crooner, 33, attended music's biggest evening at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles sporting a sleek black tux.

He bypassed the red carpet but was later seen cozying up to his wife, whom he married in 2020, who was dressed to the nines to support her hubby, matching his dapper look in a strapless black gown.

Combs and Hocking's appearance at the show on Sunday, Feb. 4, comes almost six months after they welcomed their second child together, a son named Beau Lee, born in August 2023. The duo are also parents to first-born son, Tex Lawrence, 19 months.

Last year, Hocking debuted her baby bump at the 2023 ACM Awards, where Combs gave a touching performance of his song "Love You Anyway."

It was a big night for Combs, who got a standing ovation for his performance alongside Tracy Chapman, who made a rare appearance to duet her famous track "Fast Car."

Combs' version of Chapman's hit—which he released as part of his 2023 album Gettin' Old—was also nominated at this year's awards in the Best Country Solo Performance category at the 66th Annual Grammy AwardsChris Stapleton ended up taking home the award for "White Horse."

However, the cover of "Fast Car" has already earned Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards in November 2023, making Chapman the first Black woman to win a CMA Award.

"It's truly an honor for my song to be newly recognized after 35 years of its debut," Chapman said in a statement at the time. "Thank you to the CMAs and a special thanks to Luke and all of the fans of 'Fast Car.'"

Shortly after Combs and Chapman's epic live duet, her single reached number 1 on iTunes, nearly 36 years since its release, which she noted was "crazy."

Taylor Swift Proves Friendship With Kelsea Ballerini Is Still Going Strong in Sweet Photo From 2024 Grammys

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 10:03am

Taylor Swift is known for having many close friendships with other women in the music and entertainment industry, so it should come as no surprise that she and country star Kelsea Ballerini are very tight.

The two women proved it with a super sweet photo together at the 2024 Grammys on Feb. 4, with Swift and Ballerini puckering up as they stood with their arms around one another.

Swift and Ballerini were seated together for the high-profile award show, both looking stunning in their glam outfits. While the "Cruel Summer" singer went for a classic white gown with black velvet opera gloves, Ballerini stunned in a sheer black dress with light purple fabric flower embellishments.

Fans went wild after seeing the two together in photos from the night, with one tweeting, "I can’t handle this photo… two of my favorite artists in one photo I can’t function."

"They are everything to me 😭😭😭," wrote another, as a third exclaimed, "The duo I didn’t know I needed."

Swift and Ballerini were also spotted grooving to Miley Cyrus' hit song "Flowers" during her performance, which got a lot of attention and love from fans as well.

One fan reacted, "KELSEA AND TAYLOR DANCING TO MILEY 🥰🥰🥰🥰," while appreciating the moment.

Swift took home two Grammys at the 2024 awards show, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights. Ballerini was nominated for Best Country Album for Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, but she lost to Lainey Wilson's Bell Bottom Country

Along with Swift's wins and cute moments with other friends and musical artists, Swifties had another reason to celebrate on Feb. 4, as the singer-songwriter announced that she had a new album coming up.

After winning her 13th Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, Swift took it as an opportunity to share that her upcoming album, Tortured Poets Department, would arrive on April 19, 2024, with the 34-year-old sharing the official album cover on social media soon after.

Travis Kelce Is in His ‘Red’-Era as He’s Spotted Landing in Las Vegas for Super Bowl

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 9:45am

Travis Kelce appeared to make a nod to his pop superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift's 2012 album Red as he made his way to the Kansas City Chiefs bus shortly after the team landed in Nevada to prepare for the upcoming Super Bowl.

Just kidding, we know all to well that Kelce was decked out in his teams' colors, but still, we couldn't help but notice how his 'fit coincides with one of Swift's favorite colors, her signature lip shade and came on the day she added two more Grammy Awards to her collection.

The record-breaking tight end, 34, was spotted arriving at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 4, sporting an all-red Nike sweatsuit, red and white Nike sneakers, a matching hat and some black shades.

Fans of the couple may have one more shot to see Swift supporting her boyfriend as rumors circulate that the pop superstar will be in attendance when the Chiefs face off against the San Francisco 49ers during Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Despite the 14-time Grammy winner heading to Japan ahead of this weekend to kick off her 2024 touring schedule, the Japanese Embassy has already confirmed Swift could travel back to the U.S. in time for the big game. With her final show wrapping up on Saturday, Feb. 10, it's not impossible for her to make it back stateside in time, but it may put a damper on her typical post-concert recovery day.

That said, we suspect she may already have her Super Bowl outfit all planned out and ready to go, so we'd be more surprised to see her absent than not. But for now, we'll just have to wait and see.

Crofton 14-inch Stir Fry Wok

A wok’s primary use is for making stir fry, and the height of its walls make it so that the wok can retain food while you vigorously stir and toss throughout the cooking process. The rounded shape aids in its ability to conduct heat quickly, making it an ideal tool for dishes that incorporate seared meats and flash fried veggies.

The Crofton 14-inch Stir Fry Wok features a nonstick coated carbon steel construction which translates to superior durability. The wok’s “helper handle” also provides ease of use while pouring or lifting. This wok is compatible with electric, gas and ceramic cooking surfaces and even comes with a 2-year warranty from Crofton. Anyone looking to purchase a wok for the first time should consider this quality offering from Crofton. Sure, it may not be the HexClad wok of your dreams, but it sure does make an excellent introduction to the wonderful world of stir fry.

SZA Fangirls Over Taylor Swift During Her Own Grammys Acceptance Speech

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 9:18am

SZA has earned the hearts of Swifties' everywhere following her sweet shout-out to Taylor Swift during last night's Grammy Awards.

After being presented with the award for best R&B song, the "Kill Bill" songstress got quite emotional–not only over the prestigious honors she earned but over the other talented stars in the room.

"Sorry I'm out of breath because I was changing then I took a shot and I ran here," she said as she ran on stage to meet Lizzo, who presented the award to her with a big hug. "But Lizzo and I have been friends since 2013 when we were both on a tiny RedBull tour together opening up in small rooms for like 100 people. And to be on the stage with her is so amazing, I'm so grateful."

"I would like to thank my parents, my mom and my dad, God, Top Dawg, Punch, all of TDE and my siblings at TDE, to my godparents, to my niece," she added.

"I just.. I'm sorry, I'm just really overwhelmed," SZA continued, clearly looking a bit choked up. "You don't really understand. I came really, really far and I can't believe this is happening and it feels very fake."

"And I'm... Hi Taylor!" she exclaimed while looking at the 14-time Grammy winner, who was up and out of her seat, dancing and looking very supportive of the 34-year-old's win.

'Outlander' Prequel 'Blood of My Blood' Reveals Who Will Play Jamie Fraser's Parents

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 9:00am

STARZ today revealed the cast for its upcoming romantic epic Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a prequel to the hit time-traveling drama, Outlander. Based on characters created by Diana Gabaldon for her Outlander series of novels, as previously announced, Blood of My Blood will examine the lives and love story of Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy).

But there was new news in addition to the casting of the two key actors. It was also revealed that in addition to Jamie’s parents’ love story, the 10-episode first season of BMB will also explore the origin story of Claire’s (Caitríona Balfe) parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine).

That means the series, which will film in Scotland, will be set in two different time periods. Jamie’s parents met and fell in love in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands, while Claire’s parents came together in WWI England.

“We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples,” says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner, executive producer and writer on both series. “The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie.”

Outlander will air the second half of season 7 later this year and will begin filming its 10-episode eighth and final season shortly.

Blood of My Blood will be headed by the same talent that brought Outlander to the screen with the previously mentioned Roberts as showrunner, executive producer and writer. In addition, Ronald D. Moore will serve as an executive producer along with Maril Davis. Moore and Davis developed Outlander for television. Gabaldon, who has yet to write the novel featuring Ellen and Brian’s story, will serve as a consulting producer.

Everything to Know About Netflix's 'Ripley'

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 8:47am

Andrew Scott is already well known to TV fans for his performance in two fan favorite roles: Moriarty in the BBC series Sherlock, and the Hot Priest in Fleabag’s second season. Next, he’s tackling another iconic character in Tom Ripley, the chameleonic protagonist in a series of novels written by Patricia Highsmith. On screen, Ripley has previously been played by Matt Damon and John Malkovich, but Scott is sure to put his own stamp on this complex and incredibly dark role. Here’s what we know so far about Netflix’s Ripley, from cast to release date.

Related: Every New TV Show and Movie Coming to Netflix in 2024

What is Netflix's Ripley about?

Ripley is a psychological thriller which centers on Tom Ripley (Scott), a sharp-witted grifter who is “scraping by in 1960s New York” when the show begins. Everything changes for him when a wealthy shipping magnate hires him for an unusual mission: travel to Italy, and convince the man’s wayward son Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn) to return home to America. After accepting this job, Ripley takes “the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder,” fueled by his mounting obsession with Dickie.

Is Ripley based on a book?

Ripley is based on The Talented Mr. Ripley, Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 novel. This book was the first in what became a series of book following the character of Ripley, a con artist from mysterious origins whose sociopathic tendencies are gradually revealed as he infiltrates the lives of Dickie Greenleaf and his wife, Marge (played in the series by Dakota Fanning) in the quaint Italian town where they’re living.

“Tom Ripley is a part of our consciousness,” series creator Steve Zaillian told Vanity Fair. “Almost 70 years after Highsmith created him, contemporary figures are still being compared to him. He won’t go away.” He went on to say that adapting the book into a series rather than a feature allowed him to “be more faithful to the story, tone, and subtleties of Highsmith’s work.”

Is Ripley based on a movie?

Although the series is based on Highsmith’s original novel, it will inevitably drawn comparisons to the acclaimed movie adaptation, The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999). Directed and written by Anthony Minghella, the movie stars Matt Damon in the title role, and was both a worldwide box office hit and a critical success, ultimately scoring five Oscar nominations including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Jude Law, who played Dickie.

Related: What We Know About 'Oppenheimer' Star Matt Damon's Net Worth

Who is making Ripley?

All eight episodes of Ripley will be written and directed by Steven Zaillian, who’s best known for co-creating the 2016 HBO crime thriller The Night Of, but has also written the screenplays for a number of classic movies including Schindler’s List, Gangs of New York and more recently The Irishman.

Ripley was originally ordered to series at Showtime back in 2019, but later moved to Netflix after Showtime’s merger with Paramount+ led to a creative shake-up at the cable network.

Who is in the cast of Ripley?

Here are the cast members who have been confirmed so far.

Andrew Scott

“It was a heavy part to play,” Scott told Vanity Fair of Ripley. “I found it mentally and physically really hard. That’s just the truth of it. I suppose the journey to understanding this character was a less arduous one than trying to understand what Tom Ripley does. Certain things I can understand, but other things—it’s actually the blankness that’s sometimes hard to engage with.”

During a conversation with Ben Whishaw for Interview magazine in 2021, Scott also discussed Ripley’s sexuality, which has been approached differently in adaptations—the Anthony Minghella movie, for instance, emphasizes the homoeroticism of his obsession with Dickie.

“I’m interested in the idea of what queerness is, and otherness, because that’s what I think it’s about,” Scott said. “The reason he’s such an interesting character is you can’t quite place him. If Tom Ripley was in a gay bar, I’m not sure that he would fit in there. Nor do I think he’s a straight character. I think he’s a queer character, in the sense that he’s very other. What’s his relationship with sex, or death, or with family or friends? It’s interesting that a character is the sum of the parts that you don’t have to play.”

Dakota Fanning

Fanning plays Marge Sherwood, who is Dickie Greenleaf’s girlfriend. Initially she warms to Ripley, but eventually she begins to question his motivations and glimpses a darkness lurking behind his surface charm. She was played by Gwyneth Paltrow in the movie.

Johnny Flynn

Flynn plays Dickie Greenleaf, a playboy dilettante whose wealthy father is sick of him cavorting around Europe with no direction—hence the hiring of Ripley, who’s tasked with bringing him back to the States. Unsurprisingly, things don’t go entirely to plan.

John Malkovich

Malkovich is part of the Ripley cast, although his role hasn’t yet been confirmed. No matter who he’s playing, his casting is a fun easter egg for Ripley fans, because he played the title role in the 2002 movie adaptation Ripley’s Game, which is based on the third novel in Highsmith’s series.

Eliot Summer

Summer plays a recurring role in the series—an as-yet-unnamed friend of Dickie’s who becomes suspicious of Ripley. She might be seen as an equivalent to the role played by Philip Seymour Hoffman in the 1999 movie.

What is the release date for Ripley?

Ripley will premiere on Netflix on April 4, 2024.

How many episodes are in Ripley?

The first season of Ripley will be eight episodes long. Zaillian has optioned all five novels in the series, and the original plan at Showtime was for each season to cover one novel, but it’s unclear if future seasons are in the cards at Netflix.

How to watch Ripley

Ripley is a Netflix original, so you’ll need a subscription to watch it.

Is there a Ripley trailer?

Netflix released the first teaser trailer for Ripley in December of 2023, offering an early glimpse at the tone of the series, which is presented entirely in black-and-white. “You’re a very hard man to find. No address, phone, office,” Scott’s Ripley is told in the teaser, hinting at the character’s mysterious backstory and chameleon-like way of adopting different identities. You can watch the teaser below.

Dyson’s ‘Life-Changing’ Hair Tools That Never Go on Sale Are Now Up to $120 Off—but Hurry, This Won’t Last Long

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 8:00am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

There’s a good reason why Dyson’s hair styling tools are so popular — they let you get salon-quality blowouts without leaving your home. I mean, you’ve seen the Dyson Airwrap system all over social media, right? Though it’s been on the market for a few years, the premium multi-styling tool is still among the internet’s most coveted products.

That said, the Airwrap is an expensive purchase at $599. It doesn’t help that the system rarely goes on sale, either. So, the fact that Best Buy is currently taking up to $120 off Dyson hair tools (yes, including the Airwrap) for My Best Buy Plus and Total Members is a *massive* deal.

Dyson Airwrap, $480 (was $600) at Best Buy

What’s special about the Dyson Airwrap system is that it’s both a high-quality blow dryer and hair styler all in one. It comes with 1.2-inch and 1.6-inch barrels to curl hair, as well as a trio of brushes to smooth and volumize your locks. Though it might take some practice to learn how the attachments work with your hair, you should be able to get the best at-home blowouts of your life just by using the one system. No wonder 290 reviews describe it as being “life-changing.”

The Airwrap is absolutely adored by shoppers, with reviewers calling it “a game changer!” and saying it leaves “hair looking salon-perfect without the hassle.”

“It has really changed how I can make my hair look,” a reviewer said. ‘It’s easy to use and I honestly enjoy the routine of it. It is worth all the hype it gets.”

Celebrities are fans of Dyson’s hair tools, too. Khloe Kardashian included the Airwrap in her 2023 holiday gift guide, saying the system “gives you that beautiful blowout look that we all long for, and it’s super easy to use.” Even Jeremy Allen White gets his perfectly swoopy curls from the Dyson Airwrap, according to The Bear star’s red carpet hair stylist.

A more affordable alternative to the Dyson Airwrap is the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer that comes with five attachments, including an impressive flyaway tamer. It has over 8,000 reviews on Best Buy, and now you can get it for $86 off.

It’s not just the Supersonic and Airwrap that have a celebrity following. Selena Gomez’s hair stylist has said that the Dyson Airstrait is the secret to a flawless slicked back bun. And now you can get it for $100 off.

You can even get the brand's classic cordless Corrale Hair Straightener with a similar effect for $100 off, too.

“If you have long hair this is a must have in your daily beauty routine,” said a Corrale Hair Straightener user. “I have used it almost everyday since I purchased it. I LOVE how my hair feels after my hair is dry and styled.”

“I hated having to straighten my hair,” said another reviewer. “It was always such a hassle staying plugged into the wall and waiting. Now I am free to roam, I can do this as I walk around my house setting up for the day.”

Now, what’s the deal with that membership you need to access these deals? My Best Buy Plus memberships start at just $50 per year, and it comes with exclusive access to products and sales (like this one), plus free two-day shipping. My Best Buy Total, on the other hand, is $180 per year and includes all of the perks the Plus membership does, plus 24/7 Geek Squad support, AppleCare and more. If you’re a frequent Best Buy shopper, both of these memberships have some real value.

We’re not saying there aren’t good hair styling tools you can get for less, but if you ask anyone who owns a Dyson hair styling tool, they’ll tell you it’s hard to beat. We recommend getting your Dyson Airwrap, Supersonic, Airstrait, or Corrale while this sale at Best Buy is going on, and while the tools are in stock. Given deals like this almost never come around, we wouldn't be surprised if Dyson’s hair tools sell out.

Travis Kelce Celebrates Taylor Swift’s Grammys Win With Subtle Show of Support

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 7:28am

Travis Kelce may not have been able to be by Taylor Swift's side as she took home the 2024 Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, but he's still celebrating the accomplishments from afar.

The tight end, who previously lamented his inability to attend the prestigious event during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, took to Instagram to boast his pride over his girlfriend's big win.

His subtle show of support was not a formal post of his own, but rather, a simple "like." The 34-year-old record-breaking NFL star was caught liking a photo of Swift's red carpet look that was uploaded by NPR, and fans couldn't get over it, filling the replies with ecstatic comments like "TRAVIS LIKED😭😭😭," "liked by Travis Kelce ✨💕," and "Dad just liked mom's picture!!"

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by NPR (@npr)

Swift arrived solo on the red carpet, as Kelce and his fellow Kansas City Chiefs all headed to Las Vegas to crack down on Super Bowl preparation ahead of Feb. 11, where they'll take on the San Francisco 49ers.

"I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she's nominated for," he admitted earlier this week. "Unfortunately, I gotta get ready for this big 'ole Super Bowl that we got in a week."

It's unclear yet if Swift will attend the big game. The pop superstar heads to Japan after the Grammys, where she will perform four concerts next weekend—the kickoff of her 2024 touring schedule. With the final show wrapping up on Feb. 10, it's not impossible for her to make it back stateside in time—just ask the Japanese Embassy—but it may put a damper on her typical post-concert recovery day

That said, we suspect she's already got her game-day 'fit all planned out, so we'd be more surprised to see her absent than not. For now, we'll just have to wait and see.

10 Sweet Signs Your Dog Feels Safe With You

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 5:06am

When you become a dog owner for the first time, a learning curve comes with opening your life to a different species—one with whom you don't share a common language. You'll wonder why he plays with some toys and not others, and struggle to figure out what he's barking at outside. Then, there are questions about his basic needs: Is he eating, drinking and exercising enough, and does he feel safe with you?

The more time you log with your doggo, the more you'll be able to read him, especially when it comes to his hydration, food and exercise needs. It's harder, however, to recognize signs indicating he feels safe and secure around you. Veterinarian Dr. Marlena Lopez, BSc DVM shares more about this aspect of canine behavior, and she identifies 10 signs that your dog feels protected in your presence.

10 Sweet Signs Your Dog Feels Safe With You1. Initiating Physical Contact

If you're wondering if your dog feels secure when he's with you, and he's resting his head on your lap while you read this, he feels safe and sound—it's that simple.

According to Dr. Lopez, "Dogs that actively seek physical contact by leaning against you, nudging you or placing a paw on your lap are expressing a desire for closeness and connection."

See? You must be doing something right.

2. Playfulness and Excitement

While you may be annoyed by the incessant squeaking of that infernal rubber chicken toy you bought for Buster, if he's playing with it in your presence, it's a good thing.

"A dog that engages in playful behavior, such as bounding around, play-bowing, and bringing you toys, is demonstrating a sense of comfort and happiness in its owner's presence," Dr. Lopez explains.

3. Eating Comfortably

"Dogs that feel safe will eat their meals without hesitation or anxiety," she continues. "A relaxed mealtime indicates trust in the environment and assurance that their owners will provide for their needs."

So if doggo is chill at chowtime, you're on the right track!

4. Wags Its Tail Around You

We already mentioned that dogs and humans don't share a common language, but that doesn't mean dogs can't communicate with us. They can and do!

"Dogs communicate through body language, and a wagging tail is a clear indicator of joy and comfort," Dr. Lopez says. "It's essential to recognize the nuances in tail wagging, as the speed and height of the wag can convey different emotions. A very friendly dog may wag his tail more freely and even wiggle his hips at the same time. This joyful and relaxed tail wag signifies a positive association, indicating that your dog feels secure and happy in your presence."

5. The Sounds They Make

If you're a first-time dog owner, you're probably painfully aware of the loudest way a dog communicates, and you might already be trying to train yours to lower the volume a notch or ten.

"Dogs communicate through barking, and a lack of barking in your presence suggests a sense of ease and security," Dr. Lopez explains. "Happy dogs may have higher-pitched barks and bark for shorter durations than agitated dogs. Some dogs vocalize with a soft, contented whine when they feel safe. However, it’s important to note that this gentle vocalization is different from anxious or distressed whining."

In the end, Dr. Lopez emphasizes that it's not enough for us simply to listen to our dogs to assess whether they feel safe or not.

"It's crucial not to judge your dog solely by their vocalizations," she says. "Consider other signs, such as their overall body language, to accurately gauge their emotional state before assuming everything is well."

6. Relaxed Posture, Ears and Eyes

Not sure what body language cues to look for when assessing how your dog is feeling?

"Relaxed ears that are neither pinned back nor overly alert, coupled with soft, squinty eyes, signify a content and secure dog," Dr. Lopez says. "Tension in these areas can indicate anxiety. A relaxed posture, including loose muscles and a calm demeanor, suggests that your dog is comfortable and not on edge. These are key indicators of a secure and content canine companion."

Related: The Real Reason Why Dogs Like To Sleep in Their Owners’ Beds

7. Licks You

You're in luck if your dog licks you too. That means your pooch is at peace with you.

"Dogs often lick as a gesture of affection and trust," Dr. Lopez says. "This behavior is rooted in their instincts, resembling the way pups interact with their mothers. When your dog licks you, it's a sign of bonding and comfort."

8. Makes Eye Contact with You

If you really want to know if your dog feels safe with you, look in its eyes. Go ahead and play Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" for dramatic effect—maybe while holding a boombox aloft Say Anything-style. Make this a moment for you and your doggo to remember forever.

"Direct eye contact is a powerful form of communication in the canine world," Dr. Lopez explains. "When your dog looks you in the eyes, it signals trust and a strong bond, as prolonged eye contact can be perceived as a challenge in dog language."

See? You're learning more about how dogs communicate all the time, aren't you?

"This shared gaze between humans and dogs has been associated with the release of oxytocin, often referred to as the 'love hormone,'" Dr. Lopez continues. "This hormonal response further strengthens the emotional connection, reinforcing the sense of security and affection your dog feels in your presence."

9. Comfortable Sleeping Next to You or in Your Room

If you're reading this and your dog is passed out on the bed next to you or even at your feet, you must be doing something right.

"Choosing to sleep close to you signifies that your dog views you as a source of safety and protection," Dr. Lopez says. "Dogs are pack animals, and being close to their pack leader provides a sense of security."

10. Exposed Vulnerable Areas

If the sleeping dog next to you or at your feet is snoozing with its belly exposed, you may be a first-time dog owner, but you're a natural.

"When dogs sleep on their backs with their bellies exposed, this demonstrates a deep sense of trust," Dr. Lopez explains. "Anytime a dog exposes his belly, it indicates he feels safe and secure, as this is a delicate area vulnerable to attack in the wild. In addition to their bellies, dogs might expose other vulnerable areas like their throats, allowing you to pet or scratch them in these sensitive spots without showing signs of discomfort."

Taylor Swift Poses with Celine Dion After Being Accused of 'Ignoring' Her

Sun, 02/04/2024 - 11:43pm

Taylor Swift is clearly a Celine Dion fan, even if some fans thought she failed to show it on the 2024 Grammys stage.

Dion, 55, made a surprise appearance to present the Album of the Year award on Sunday, Feb. 4, ultimately announcing Swift, 34, as the winner of the prestigious award for her album Midnights

But despite the history-making moment for Swift, fans online quickly took issue with her acceptance of the award, as she seemed to take the trophy out of Dion's hands without acknowledging the "My Heart Will Go On" songstress.

Some viewers watching at home found the moment to be "classless" of Swift, as one user on X (formerly Twitter) put it, while another accused the "Anti-Hero" songstress of "fully ignoring" Dion, who hasn't made a public appearance in quite a while as a result of her ongoing health battle with stiff person syndrome

Taylor Swift completely ignoring Celine Dion like she was some trophy model presenter at #GRAMMYs was wild. She’s won this three times and usually such a pro. But to ignore an icon, who is dealing with so much? Yikes https://t.co/0uM1pN0wkq

— Andy Signore (@andysignore) February 5, 2024

But a photo of Dion and Swift that emerged shortly after the night ended, uploaded to Instagram by a Swiftie fan account, has been putting some of the critics at ease, as Swift could be seen sweetly cuddling up to the "I'm Alive" artist backstage after the show.

"Glad this was posted. People were very quick with criticism. I think Taylor was more about acknowledging all her team on stage," one user wrote on Instagram in Swift's defense.

"Thank you, fans needed this," another account commented, while one user chimed in to say, "That’s better!😍."

Plus, other social media users pointed out that Swift was giving Dion a standing ovation when she first came out, while singing the words to the icon's "Power of Love," which played when she was introduced.

Journalist Brian A. Hernandez even brought up some photos of Swift and Dion from years past, proving in a post on X that the two singers have clearly shown their adoration for each other.

Taylor Swift Honors Lana Del Rey During Her Album of the Year Acceptance Speech

Sun, 02/04/2024 - 11:31pm

Taylor Swift added another record to her vast catalog with this year's Grammys wins, but she was more focused on her friend and fellow songwriter, Lana Del Rey, when accepting the award.

The superstar was nominated for six categories: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Anti-Hero," Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year for Midnights, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Karma" featuring Ice Spice

By the end of the night, she'd taken home her 13th and 14th Grammys, as well as a major broken record with her fourth Album of the Year win—making her the first artist in history to receive the honor that many times.

She glossed over that fact, though, after Celine Dion shocked the audience with a surprise appearance to present the award, instead dragging her fellow nominee and Midnights collaborator on stage with her, where she made a heartfelt speech about the "Snow on the Beach" feature's impact on the industry.

The Eras Tour artist, clearly flabbergasted by the win, shouted out her “once in a generation producer” Jack Antonoff and several other key members of the production team before calling on Del Rey, who remained at the back of the stage to give Swift her moment.

“I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration that they have if not for the work that she’s done. I think she’s a legacy artist—a legend in her prime right now.”

Swift added, “I would love to tell you that this is the best moment of my life, but I feel this happy when I finish a song, or when I crack the code to a bridge that I love, or when I’m shot-listing a music video or when I’m rehearsing with my dancers, or my band, or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show."

She continued, "For me, the award is the work. All I wanna do is keep being able to do this. I love it so much, it makes me so happy. It makes me unbelievably blown away that it makes some people happy who voted for this award, too. All I wanna do is keep doing this, so thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do what I love so much."

— RRN (@RRNmedia) February 5, 2024

The "Paris" songstress has had fans abuzz for months now due to her record-breaking Eras Tour—fondly dubbed the "Errors Tour" by fans—and various other nominations, including Best Original Song at the 2023 Golden Globes

Not to mention her integration into NFL culture ever since she went public with Travis Kelce back in Sept., leading to an influx of attention on the Kansas City Chiefs. According to the team's CEO Clark Huntthe team's "female audience has grown leaps and bounds" as a result.

Much to the disappointment of those who hoped to see the couple make their red carpet debut, Swift arrived solo earlier this evening, as the tight end is already headed to Las Vegas to prepare for the Super Bowl. She stunned in an elegant black and white ensemble that many suspected may be a nod to an upcoming announcement for reputation (Taylor's Version), but which ended up being a nod to a brand new era altogether: her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department

She likely won't be showing it off at any after parties this evening, despite her big win—rumor has it she's hopping on a flight to Tokyo immediately following the awards, entering crunch time ahead of her first Eras Tour date in several months on Feb. 7.

She wraps her time in Japan on Feb. 10, where we suspect she'll hop right back onto that plane to make it back stateside in time to see the Chiefs take on the 49ers in the Super Bowl on Feb. 11.

Watch Jay-Z Drink Out of His Grammy Award After Bold Speech About Beyoncé

Sun, 02/04/2024 - 11:17pm

Jay-Z is having quite a night at the 2024 Grammy Awards, after having a major mic drop moment during his now-viral acceptance speech.

The rapper was accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, presented to him by host Trevor Noah—an honor presented to Black music creators who have made notable marks on the industry with their work.

But Jay-Z used his time to call out the Recording Academy, coming to Beyoncé's defense as he criticized the Grammys for never awarding his wife with the awards' top honor: Album of the Year.

He thanked the award's namesake Dr. Dre for "all the doors that [he] opened," also shouting out the Black Music Collective later in his speech, before calling back to the 1989 Grammys, which Will Smith and his musical partner DJ Jazzy boycotted after finding out that the award for Best Rap Performance—a new category at the time—wasn't going to be televised. Almost a decade later, he boycotted the 1998 awards after he was nominated for Best Rap Album but the late DMX failed to garner any noms.

He pleaded with the academy to "get it right...[or] at least get it close to right," going on to call them out for never presenting Queen Bey, who is the most awarded artist in Grammy history, with an Album of the Year distinction.

"...she has the most Grammys [out of] everyone and never won album of the year," he pointed out. "So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that: The most Grammys. Never won album of the year. That doesn’t work. Some of you gonna go home and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category,” he said boldly, jokingly blaming his nerves for "tell[ing] the truth."

Many likened his comments to Kanye West, who infamously interrupted Taylor Swift during the 2009 VMAs to call Bey's music video "one of the best videos of all time!” and suggesting that Swift didn't deserve the award she'd just won.

the spirit of kanye west took over jay z tonight

— coffee bae (@iamsashakae) February 5, 2024

Jay-Z continued, “But outside of that, we got to keep showing up...until they give you all those accolades you feel you deserve. Until they call you Chairman. Until they call you genius. Until they call you the greatest of all time.”

Celine Dion Makes Surprise Appearance at 2024 Grammys Amid Health Battle

Sun, 02/04/2024 - 11:04pm

As if the 2024 Grammys weren't eventful enough, Celine Dion ended the night by making a surprise appearance.

The music icon—who has been dealing with some serious health issues lately—unexpectedly came out to present the award for Album of the Year, which ultimately went to Taylor Swift for her Midnights album.

The appearance from Dion, 55, comes as a major shock to viewers, especially since the "Power of Love" singer has been battling a rare, incurable disease called stiff person syndrome. The disorder can cause debilitating muscle spasms, among other things, eventually turning sufferers into "human statues," she previously explained while revealing the diagnosis back in December 2022

While standing on the Grammys stage at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, Feb. 4, Dion told the audience, "When I say that I'm happy to be here, I really mean it. From my heart."

She then took a second to pause, while appearing visibly emotional over what has been a tumultuous battle for her health.

— The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) February 5, 2024

"Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world," the legendary musician stated. "And now it gives me great joy to present a Grammy Award that two legends, Diana Ross and Sting, presented to me 27 years ago."

The crowd couldn't give Dion enough applause, as everyone from the audience could be heard screaming and seen standing on their feet for the "My Heart Will Go On" songstress.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) even shared a video of the standing ovation from the crowd, as nearly everyone in the arena rose to honor the five-time Grammy winner.

— Chris Gardner (@chrissgardner) February 5, 2024

"I tell you, Celine Dion has been through a lot lately. So, it's so good to see her standing here. She looks so good," one fan wrote online after the surprise appearance.

"The emotion in her voice...I'm so happy to see Celine Dion up and out again," another person added

Someone else summed up everyone's feelings pretty well, writing, "Celine Dion, you're a legend and we love you so much."
