Quote of the Day: Franklin D. Roosevelt Talks About the Joy of Achievement

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 2:41am

Former President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) was born on Jan. 30, 1882 in New York. He was raised as an only child (he had a half-brother from his first marriage), according to the History Channel, and his parents worked hard to ensure that he had the best education possible, hiring private tutors and sending him to Harvard University.

Cousin to Theodore Roosevelt, it seemed like FDR was always destined for politics. After attending law school at Columbia University, where he passed the bar without graduating, he spent a few years at a Wall Street law firm before being elected to the state senate. He remained there for several years before becoming the Assistant Secretary of the Navy under Woodrow Wilson, until a polio diagnosis at 39 put his political aspirations on hold. He spent several years in recovery before returning to the political arena, working with the Democratic National Convention to nominate then-governor Alfred E. Smith to the highest office in the land.

While Smith didn't end up getting elected president, he eventually convinced FDR to run for his seat, which led him to become the governor of New York. After the stock market crashed in 1929, FDR worked on policies to help New Yorkers, including the Temporary Emergency Relief Administration (TERA).

From there, his political star continued to rise, and he eventually ran for president at the height of the Great Depression. He used his position to help turn the economy around, doing things like closing the banks until reform legislation was passed and giving regular radio addresses to keep the country informed about the banking crisis and to restore public confidence in financial institutions.

Sadly, FDR died while in office after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 63 years old when he died.

Quote of the Day by Franklin D. Roosevelt

Parade/CanvaPro

"Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort."

The quote is attributed to Roosevelt's first Inaugural Address, delivered on Mar. 4, 1933, in Washington, D.C., according to PBS. The speech was delivered at the height of the Great Depression and is considered one of the most consequential in our country's history.

Deeper Meaning of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Quote on the Joy of Achievement

The fact that Roosevelt gave a speech about money during the Great Depression highlights how the country was feeling at the time. Roosevelt went out of his way to reinforce the fact that money alone can't make you happy, which was likely meant to reassure the vast majority of Americans who didn't have any at the time.

The way he referenced action in the second half of the quote is meant to serve as a reminder that sometimes the act of doing something, anything, can give you a sense of satisfaction that you can't get from chasing wealth alone.

This quote may resonate just as much today as it did back then, thanks to the rising cost of everyday essentials like gas and groceries that have been hammering many across the U.S.

More Quotes from Franklin D. Roosevelt
  • “Remember, remember always, that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.”
  • “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
  • “I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made.”
  • “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”
  • “The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.”

Amazon Has a 'Cute' 5-Piece Ceramic Cookware Set for Nearly 60% Off That Easily Stacks to Save Space

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 1:45am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

More and more home cooks are paying attention to what their cookware is actually made of, and for good reason. Many older nonstick pans relied on chemicals that oncologists recommend keeping away from your food, but ceramic pans are a safe alternative that’s nonstick and easy to clean. With Prime Day now here, Amazon has a ceramic cookware deal that’s worth considering.

Right now, the $95 GoodCook 5-Piece Ceramic Cookware Set is on sale at the online retailer for $39 — nearly 60% off. The set includes a 9.5-inch frypan, a 2-quart saucepan with a lid, a removable handle, and a felt pan protector that prevents scratches when stored. Shoppers described the set as “excellent,” with one reviewer saying it “heats evenly, feels well-made, and looks beautiful.”

The feature that has most shoppers talking is the removable handle. It locks securely onto the cookware while you're cooking, then pops off when you're finished so the pans can nest together and store flat. The design can save significantcabinet space — a major perk for small kitchens, apartments, RVs, or crowded cabinets. Just keep in mind that this piece is hand-wash only.

One shopper wrote. "It makes storage so much easier, especially if you don't have a lot of kitchen space."

Beyond storage convenience, the cookware is designed for versatility. Once the handle is removed, the pans are oven-safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The set is also compatible with all stovetops, including induction ranges.

The ceramic nonstick coating is made without PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead, or cadmium, so you get easy food release and quick cleanup without the chemicals. "Nothing sticks to the surface and it cleans up super fast," one shopper said.

Reviewers also love the look of the set, especially its sage green finish. One customer said the color adds a "cute touch" to their kitchen while noting that the cookware is the “perfect” size for cooking everyday meals.

If you want a more sizable collection, GoodCook's larger ceramic cookware sets are also discounted for Prime Day, with 7-piece and 14-piece options available for $64 and $69 respectively. You can also buy saucepans, Dutch ovens, and 12-inch lids separately.

One of the Greatest Double Albums Ever Made Just Turned 60 — and It Still Sounds Ahead of Its Time

Wed, 06/24/2026 - 1:30am

On Sunday, Bob Dylan's landmark release "Blonde on Blonde" turned 60 years old. The album serves a very interesting role in the legendary musician's discography, as it's this point of no return for Dylan.

We find a musician at the absolute peak of stardom desperately trying to shed the bonds of expectation and labels. This cultural place that Dylan had created (or been thrust into) was at a fever pitch with this record, and afterward, it exploded with Dylan's motorcycle accident and his retreat into the shadows of Woodstock.

Before that, however, Dylan put out one of his greatest releases of all time and forever cemented his folk rock trilogy as one of the best runs of albums in music history.

14 of Dylan's Best Songs

Keeping in line with the previous two albums in this trilogy, Dylan thrusts the listener into the fire immediately with a raucous, chaotic song that instantly immerses you in the energy of the record. With "Bringing It All Back Home," the opening track of "Subterranean Homesick Blues" feels like the exuberance of Dylan's first experimentation with electric guitar. The lyrics are fast, rebellious, and untethered, immediately hitting you like a train.

On "Highway 61 Revisited," the anger and disillusionment of that record is immediately apparent with "Like a Rolling Stone." As "Blonde on Blonde" begins, you're flung into what feels like a medieval flogging with "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35."

"They'll stone you when you're trying to be so good" are the opening words of this record, and they instantly place you into the records atmosphere of a grandiose alienation, and the sense of confusion and loneliness that accompanies that.

Dylan's position as maybe the single most talked about American musician is wearing down on him, and he has had enough. We imagine Dylan as the one being stoned, likening himself to some public vagrant being tortured by the whole world.

The sequencing of the album soldiers past this point with such a masterful string of songs. Immediately following the opening track is "Pledging My Time," a violent, chugging blues tune that sees Dylan occupying the position of a dutiful, disappointed lover stuck in a relationship that gives him nothing in return. I always imagined this song to be about Dylan's relationship with his audience. This feeling of putting all your effort into this authentic art just to be completely dismissed is portrayed excellently, and it's punctuated with an ear-splittingly loud harmonica solo that I absolutely adore.

These two tracks really set up the emotions of this album in a pretty straightforward way by Dylan's standards, which is what makes the third track so special. The song that made me fall in love with this album is "Visions of Johanna." It's a song I've never really been able to place. It rounds out the first three tracks with the other incredibly special part of this album, which is Dylan at possibly his most poetic. I think it speaks to this unwanted longing for perfection that he was facing at the time, and the emotions behind that are palpable throughout.

There are countless lines on this album that speak to some unconscious truth in the back of my head without me being able to fully grasp them. "Visions of Johanna" is full of these lines. The one I always find myself thinking about is "the ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face." Nobody does it like Bob Dylan.

From then on, the track list operates in a similar space to these three songs I've already mentioned. Operatic, intimate, and passionate, the albums continues to soaring heights. Grandiose, emotional songs like "One Of Us Must Know," or the incredible closer "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" make the album into this massive, sweeping project.

On the flip side, more intimate tracks like "Just Like a Woman" or "I Want You" humble the album and bring it to a more personal place. The latter of those two tracks has one of my favorite opening lines of a Dylan song, which goes as follows:

The guilty undertaker sighs
The lonesome organ grinder cries
The silver saxophones say I should refuse you

The third category of the album includes more punchy blues tracks, like "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" and "Obviously Five Believers." With all the places the album dips its feet, there's a strong case that this is one of the most perfect rock records every created. I'm consistently blown away by how complete the whole thing is, especially with the amount of material it features.

One of Music's Best Album Covers

I would be remise if I didn't mention the amazing album artwork. The iconic gatefold of the album pictures Dylan standing if held sideways, and we see him looking a bit blurry. The photographer Jerry Schatzberg took a number of photos, with Dylan choosing the final one. The choice behind the blur is one that has been heavily speculated upon, but the real reasoning is rather silly.

Blonde on Blonde album cover, Bob Dylan

Photo by Sven Hoppe/picture alliance via Getty Images

As the story goes, there was no grand artistic vision... it was just really cold outside. Both men were shivering, causing the photo to come blurry. I personally think it's an amazing fit for the album. Dylan as a figure is someone who was "out of focus" at this point in his career. I think it's a really wonderful subjective representation of the place Dylan was at in the public eye.

An Enduring Legacy

"Blonde on Blonde" remains one of Dylan's most celebrated works. It's a monumental achievement that finds him at his most iconoclastic, charting a path of abstraction that is still being talked about today.

The album is a fascinating exploration of the alienation of stardom, and all the emotions and battles that come with that. It's one of my absolute favorites of his, and an album I think everyone should listen to before they die.

2021 Sci-Fi Bestseller is the 'Most Read Book' of 2026 So Far According to Goodreads

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 11:32pm

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is indisputably one of the biggest pieces of media of the 21st century.

Originally published in 2021, Project Hail Mary originally began as Weir's space odyssey titled, Zhek. Eventually it became the beloved sci-fi bestseller that we know today, based around Weir's idea that he wanted to conceptualize a fuel that converted matter into energy. The book had a new resurgence in 2026 thanks to the movie adaptation, and according to Goodreads it is currently the most read title of the year across any genre.

For those who somehow haven't encountered either the book or the movie adaptation be warned, there are minor spoilers ahead for the plot line to Project Hail Mary.

View this post on Instagram

Project Hail Maryfollows Ryland Grace, a junior high science teacher who wakes up from a coma to find himself on a space craft flying towards an otherwise unknown star. Grace comes to realize he is on a one-way suicide mission to save Earth's sun, which is being destroyed by a space matter/microbe called Astrophage. While heading towards the one star not being consumed by the Astrophage, Grace encounters an alien he comes to name Rocky, whose home planet is facing a similar fate. The two begin to work together to save their respective humanities and find the solution in the vast universe.

The book debuted at number three on the New York Times bestseller list upon release, and Kirkus gave it a coveted starred review stating:

"[The book is] an unforgettable story of survival and the power of friendship—nothing short of a science-fiction masterwork."

Project Hail Mary was adapted for film in 2026 by Amazon Studios, starring Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace. The film was a critical and box office success, grossing more than $680 million worldwide and becoming the third highest-grossing film of 2026. It has since been ranked among the best films of the 2020s.

Whether you're a fan of the screen or the page, Project Hail Mary appeals to so many. In the five years since its release it continues to find new audiences, which is coincidentally part of the story's premise. Finding joy in the unexpected, and connection whenever possible.

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Currently on “The Eternal Sunshine Tour,” Ariana Grande is a powerhouse that does it all. While her most notable works come from singing, songwriting, and acting, she entered the jewelry scene in 2024 as Swarovski’s brand ambassador. A few months ago, Grande teamed up with Giovanna Engelbert to create her own Swarovski Jewelry collection.

Right now, you can score pieces from Ariana Grande’s collection on sale at Amazon during its week-long Prime Day event! The lowest price is on the heart pendant necklace, which normally retails for $159, but is now marked down to just $95. This necklace is also available in a set with a pair of matching earrings. It’s normally $269, but you can now score it for just $150.

Swarovski Ariana Grande Heart Pendant Necklace, From $95 (was $159) at Amazon

Shop at Amazon

Timeless and luxurious, this necklace features a dainty heart-shaped pendant that exudes romantic charm. The center of the pendant is fixed with a large heart-shaped Swarovski crystal, designed to replicate the brilliance and sparkle of a diamond. For an extra touch of glam, the center crystal is framed by a halo of pave cubic zirconia crystals, which also mimic the appearance of diamonds.

One reviewer described this necklace as “high-quality and very dainty.” A second shopper called it an “absolutely beautiful piece of work.” A third customer said that it’s “so pretty” and raved that the “sparkles make it eye-catching.”

The top of the pendant is securely fastened to a classic cable chain with a secure lobster claw closure. You can adjust the length of the chain depending on where you want the pendant to sit on your chest. The shortest length is about 15 inches, which should land the heart around your collarbone. You can extend the chain up to around 18 inches if you want it to fall under your collarbone and hang around your chest.

Plated with rhodium, the chain and the pendant hardware have a polished finish. Rhodium is a high-quality platinum metal that complements the shine of the crystals. It’s incredibly durable, protecting the base metal from tarnishing and scratches, so your necklace should stay in pristine condition for a long time. Rhodium is also hypoallergenic, making this piece a great choice for those with sensitive skin.

This luxe necklace will bring elegance and sophistication to any outfit. Because of its delicate nature, it’ll pair well with both casual and dressy ensembles without looking out of place. You can style it with anything from relaxed streetwear to your finest night-out dress to add a subtle touch of glamour to your look.

Ariana Grande’s Swarovski collection also includes a crystal heart choker, an all-around heart necklace, a pearl choker necklace, and a Y-style necklace with a heart and pearls. These normally retail between $249 and $350, but you can now score them on sale for up to 48% off. Sale prices for those pieces range between $133 and $221.

Country Star Releases New Album Amid 2026 Tour

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 11:29pm

Koe Wetzel has officially entered a new chapter of his career with the release of his sixth studio album, The Night Champion, arriving as the Texas-born country-rock star prepares for an extensive 45-city tour across the United States and Canada.

The album, released on June 12, marks Wetzel’s first full-length project since 2024’s 9 Lives, the record that helped elevate him from a beloved Texas favorite to one of country music’s most recognizable names.

The release comes after a breakthrough period that saw his hit collaboration “High Road” featuring Jessie Murph reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart while also finishing as iHeartRadio’s top song of 2025.

Koe Wetzel speaks at the Omni Nashville Hotel on March 20, 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Earlier this year, per Whiskey Riff, Wetzel hinted that a new era was approaching when he shared the message, “Ready for this new chapter to start.” He later released the reflective track “Time Goes On,” signaling that a larger project was in development.

Now, that project has arrived.

The Night Champion features 11 tracks and reunites Wetzel with producer Gabe Simon, who also worked on 9 Lives. What began as an effort to record a few songs quickly evolved into a full album.

The album reflects both personal and professional changes in the singer’s life. Since the release of 9 Lives, Wetzel has become engaged and welcomed a child, experiences that influenced the direction of the new music.

The project balances familiar themes with new musical territory. Songs such as “Hurts Like You,” “Time Goes On” and “The Man” deliver the honest storytelling fans have come to expect, while tracks including “When I’m Gone” and “I’ll Lock Up” continue his exploration of a more R&B-inspired sound.

One of the album’s most talked-about songs is “Circus,” which serves as a reflection on life in the music industry and the realities of fame. The track has emerged as a centerpiece of the record, offering listeners a deeper look at Wetzel’s perspective after years in the spotlight.

The album arrives just as Wetzel prepares to launch the U.S. and Canadian leg of The Night Champion World Tour.

The four-month run will take the country-rock performer to arenas and amphitheaters across North America beginning in July. The tour includes appearances in major markets such as Nashville, New York City, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Austin and Morrison, Colorado.

Several notable artists are scheduled to join Wetzel on select dates, including Shane Smith & The Saints, Ole 60, Wyatt Flores, Corey Kent and Wade Bowen.

According to Wetzel, the tour set list will feature a mix of longtime fan favorites and newer material, including songs from The Night Champion alongside hits such as “February 28, 2016” and “High Road.”

As excitement around the album continues, Wetzel has already hinted that more music may be on the way.

Fans subscribed to his text message community recently received access to an exclusive preview titled The Night Champion Continued. The teaser featured six songs, including five previously unheard tracks.

Wetzel’s focus remains on celebrating the album’s release and bringing the new songs to fans across North America.

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 10:52pm

Country stars Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay are sharing how pal Jelly Roll is holding up amid his divorce from Bunnie XO.

“I saw him the other night, actually. Yeah, I ran into him,” Smyers told Page Six on Tuesday, June 23.

“He was great,” he continued. “We didn’t really get into it, but I’m happy for him.”

Mooney, for his part, complimented Jelly Roll and Bunnie for how they've publicly navigated their shocking divorce news going public.

“They’ve handled it with class. It’s a tough thing to go through very, very publicly,” he said.

“I mean, as married guys, if we had to go through something like that that publicly, it’s really tough on both parties and they’ve both handled it well,” Mooney added. “We want the best for both of them. They’re great.”

Smyers also shouted out Jelly Roll for an Instagram post he shared Tuesday where he reflected on his ongoing fitness and weight loss journey.

“The post he did was amazing,” he said. “I was like, ‘Damn, that’s my guy.’ It was cool."

“Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends,” he continued. “We spoke on the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody.”

'90s Rock Band, With No. 1 Hit Song, Announces 7th Annual Festival

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 10:47pm

Deftones have announced some exciting news for their fans.

The alternative metal and rock band revealed the lineup for their seventh annual Dia De Los Deftones festival, which will take place at San Diego's Petco Park on Nov. 7. This year, the lineup consists of AFI, The Neighbourhood, Converge, Jehnny Beth, Bktherula, Ladrones, Lip Critic, LustSickPuppy, and, of course, Deftones themselves.

Previous lineups of the Dia De Los Deftones festival have included Doja Cat, Future, Sunny Day Real Estate, Paris Texas, 2hollis, Rico Nasty and more.

View this post on Instagram

Dia De Los Deftones is an annual music festival curated by the Deftones that celebrates the band's diverse musical influences and connection to their fan community. The event debuted in 2018 at Petco Park in San Diego, and was conceived as a destination festival that blends heavy music with artists spanning the hip-hop, electronic, alternative and indie genres.

After a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dia De Los Deftones returned in 2021 and has since become a recurring event held each fall in San Diego. Rather than focusing solely on metal, the festival reflects the broad musical tastes of Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and his bandmates, offering fans a one-day experience that showcases artists from multiple genres alongside a headlining performance from Deftones.

In an interview last year with Revolver, Moreno spoke with the magazine about the importance of having different genres in their annual music festival, knowing that they could probably be just as successful if they hosted an all-metal or an all-goth festival.

"We’re fans of lots of different music. When I was in high school, I thought I was kind of weird because I listen to goth music and Rush at the same time," the 53-year-old musician answered. "Now it seems like you’re not judged as much for liking a variety of things."

Deftones perform in concert during day 2 of the Primavera Sound Festival at Parque da Cidade on June 13, 2025 in Porto, Portugal.

Paulo Pinho/Redferns

Deftones was formed by Moreno, Stephen Carpenter and Abe Cunningham when they were just teenagers living in Sacramento. After years of playing local clubs, the band broke through with their 1995 debut album Adrenaline before gaining wider recognition with Around the Fur two years later. In 2000, Deftones released White Pony, which earned them a Grammy Award and is widely considered one of the defining rock albums of its era.

Often associated with the nu-metal movement, Deftones distinguished themselves by blending the shoegaze, dream-pop, indie and rock genres, inspiring generations of alternative and heavy artists. Their atmospheric sound and willingness to evolve have helped them remain influential for nearly four decades. The band's best-known song, "Change (In the House of Flies)," became their highest-charting single and remains a staple of modern rock radio.

Last summer, "my mind is a mountain," the lead single from private music, their tenth studio album, reached No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay and the Hot Hard Rock Songs charts. Their rise to the top also set a Mainstream Rock Airplay record, as they waited 27 years, three months and one week to earn their first No. 1 hit — the longest such span for any group in the chart's 44-year history.

View the original article to see embedded media.

"I feel like we're much more into making sounds than we are writing songs," Moreno told Zane Lowe in a sit-down interview last year. "The sounds are the ones really inspiring us."

"We're creating soundscapes, if you will, and there's just some things for me, my instinct and where I gravitate to always is hearing a chord ring out or palm-muted stuff, that's what I'm really into," Carpenter added on. "I'm at a place now where I'm more interested in putting in stuff that I'm unfamiliar with and trying to be more than just the power chord. But I still end up back there, that's the problem."

Chino Moreno of Deftones performs during Lollapalooza at Grant Park on August 03, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois.

Ryan Bakerink/Film Magic

Before headlining their own festival, Deftones will embark on a European/UK tour in August, then play at the Sick New World festival in Fort Worth, Texas, on Oct. 24.

The presale for Dia De Los Deftones music festival takes place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster, while general onsale will go public on Friday morning.

The L-shaped layout offers a chaise for lounging, but its overall size makes it a breeze to move and situate in compact spaces. The deep seat also makes it extra cozy for movie nights, naps, or sitting with your legs tucked up.

Shoppers have described it as “so soft” and “extremely comfortable,” with one writing, “It is the perfect size for a narrow living space.” Another called it the “best sofa ever,” and mentioned it’s “perfect for small spaces.” Other reviewers even said it’s “absolutely one of the best purchases I've made,” and “very easily the comfiest couch I've ever had.”

The cream option would look gorgeous in a soft neutral room with light wood furniture, warm lighting, or a patterned rug and other soft decor. The gray is a more forgiving choice for everyday use, especially in a home with kids and pets, and would pair nicely with walnut finishes or darker pillows.

100-Year-Old Moisturizer, Celebrated as One of the Best Beauty Products Ever Created, Remains a Powerful ‘Do-It-All’ Essential 10 Decades Later

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 10:44pm

Weleda Skin Food Ultra Rich Cream, a multi-purpose moisturizer originally launched a full century ago in 1926, remains a top-rated product 100 years later. The beloved item was ranked among the greatest beauty products of all time on a list of 100 of the best releases ever by Beauty Inc.’s Women’s Wear Daily.

For context, the lineup—published in February 2026—comprises several heavy-hitters across skincare, makeup, hair styling tools, and more, with the most iconic picks “chosen by the people who know best—beauty industry insiders,” the outlet announced. “These products are all ‘original, and either reimagine or simply imagine something that doesn’t exist,’ said Linda Wells, editor of Air Mail Look and founding editor of Allure, who acknowledged the saturation of today’s market and likened the current rate of new product development to running a marathon at the pace of a sprint.”

Adding Weleda's Skin Food Ultra Rich Cream, which retails for about $14 to $23 depending on size, to the all-encompassing list is an understandable choice given its proven, century-old formula. Plus, the popular product is rated 4.5/5 stars with over 35K Amazon reviews. Officially, it’s described as "the ultimate moisturizer for dry, rough skin."

"Our best-selling product that originally launched in 1926 and has been a cult favorite ever since. The rich plant blend formula transforms skin to appear more luminous," the brand states online.

WWD hailed the product “a panacea for dehydrated skin head-to-toe,” adding that the nostalgic staple has even become a social media star: "The plant-powered cream has amassed over 100 beauty awards and more than 48 million TikTok views." Further, the “results-oriented” buy has become an industry must-have over time, with one unit still being sold every eight seconds globally. And after being around for 100 years, that kind of staying power is no easy feat.

Beauty industry professionals also chimed in on why Weleda's Skin Food Ultra Rich Cream has become a tried-and-true cabinet classic. Jolie De Feis, lead esthetician at Practise NYC who was named one of the Best Facialists in New York by New York Magazine, described the product as a trailblazer in the industry, calling it "a genuinely unique case study in cosmetics."

"In many ways ahead of its time, then somehow re-emerging right in time. The botanical formula remains essentially unchanged since it first debuted in 1926, developed with formulation practices and philosophies that echo a lot of what we see in modern skincare," De Feis told Parade. "It uses whole-plant extraction processes and contains medicinal botanicals, like calendula, rosemary, viola tricolor and chamomile all suspended in a thick, emollient-heavy base. Basically, it used skin-identical lipids and framework of barrier support decades before everyone else named it."

"Even as skincare trends moved away from barrier support and became harsher and stripping, the formula remained the same. In the meantime, it became a sort of backstage staple and makeup artist secret to smooth rough skin, soothe irritation and double as a natural highlighter. Eventually, the skincare conversation circled back to barrier-first thinking and Skin Food was perfectly situated to have a comeback," the esthetician added.

View this post on Instagram

Made specifically for dry skin types, it has become known for its ultra-thick consistency and instantly recognizable scent. Users claim a little goes a long way, and that it can be applied to many different areas; beauty publication Byrdie similarly dubbed it a "do-it-all cream."

One fan is a self-proclaimed loyalist after noticing positive changes:"It’s been a game changer. Kept my parched skin moisturized all winter, and people kept remarking how I just glowed! I also like that I’m not putting lots of chemicals on my face."

But, alas, no product can be perfect for everyone. There are mixed reviews regarding the product's texture, fragrance, and heaviness. Some claim it doesn’t live up to the hype, with others reporting that it has a downright “awful” smell (which is said to be more on the earthy-citrusy side), is "too thick and greasy for the face," and clogs pores/causes breakouts.

Providing more insight into what went into choosing which favorites made the final cut on the roundup, WWD added, “True hero products all share similar attributes. ‘Fundamentally, the product has to be extraordinary, and you need to know how to get the consumer to fall in love,’ said Jane Hertzmark Hudis, executive vice president and chief brand officer at the EstĂ©e Lauder Cos. Pointing to formula performance, sensoriality, packaging and marketing, she continued, ‘All of that has to work together in a cogent way to make you love it — not just for the week, but for life. And that’s the difference.’”

Bailey Zimmerman Breaks Silence on Criminal Charges: 'Deeply Sorry'

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 10:31pm

Bailey Zimmerman is breaking his silence on the charges he's facing in for allegedly destroying his New Mexico hotel room.

The country star is facing felony and misdemeanor criminal charges after allegedly wrecking his hotel room in May and causing more than $16k in damage.

"First things first, I want to apologize to the Pueblo of Sandia and to everyone at Sandia Resort & Casino," Zimmerman said in a statement shared with TMZ on Tuesday, June 23. "I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful. I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired. I respect your community and the hospitality and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land. I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected."

"To my fans who bought tickets and showed up expecting a performance, I am so sorry, you deserved better from me," he continued. "I understand that being a musician comes with big responsibilities, both on and off stage, and I know that I fell short that day. I am reflecting on the disappointment and concern that I caused."

The singer concluded, ""I am taking this legal matter seriously. I am committed to doing the work necessary to learn and grow. Thank you to my fans for holding me accountable and for understanding that I am human. I do not take your support for granted."

Prosecutors in New Mexico are seeking a felony charge for criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor charge of falsely obtaining services stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred on May 27, 2026.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the singer allegedly trashed his hotel room before canceling his concert in Albuquerque that night and was later kicked out of the resort he was staying in.

The damage allegedly affected the TV, phone, coffee table, and 2 chairs. Staff also reported a hole in one wall, damage to other walls, stains on the carpet, and 2 missing chairs.

The hotel also claims Zimmerman charged over $400 worth of alcohol to the room without settling his tab. The documents allege that both hotel staff and police tried to contact the singer and his team, but no one responded—leading to an arrest warrant being issued.

At the time of the show’s cancellation, Zimmerman said it was due to an undisclosed illness.

“Y’all know there’s nothing I love more than getting out on the road and playing these shows for you, so it’s so hard for me to have to say this, but I have to reschedule tonight’s (5/27) and Saturday’s (5/30) shows,” Zimmerman wrote on Instagram at the time, letting fans know that his concerts in Albuquerque and Rohnert Park, California, were going to be rescheduled.

“I have not been feeling well and have tried to power through, but I’m not able to give you all the show you deserve,” he added. “I hate letting y’all down and was really looking forward to these shows, but I gotta take care of myself so I can get back out there stronger.”

Olympic Medalist Breaks Silence After Drug Arrest

Tue, 06/23/2026 - 10:28pm

Olympic skier Bode Miller has broken his silence after news of his recent arrest broke.

"I was pulled over for accelerating while passing another vehicle on a highway in Idaho," Miller shared in a statement via Instagram on Tuesday, June 23. "My friend, who was traveling with me, had a small amount of cannabis and a cannabis pipe in his possession which I was unaware of."

Miller continued, "We fully cooperated with the officer. I am hopeful the misdemeanor charges will be dropped once the facts are reviewed."

The retired athlete was arrested earlier this month and charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to TMZ.

Contrary to Miller's account, the arresting officer claimed in the probable cause affidavit that Miller was in possession of a white dispensary bag containing 4.1 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, the outlet reported.

Miller pleaded not guilty to both counts and was released after posting a $5,000 bond.

The former alpine ski racer's arrest came just days before the anniversary of his daughter's death. In June 2018, Miller and wife Morgan Beck lost their then-19-month-old daughter, Emeline, in a drowning accident.
