Olivia Wilde Laughs as Her Brother Hilariously Compares Her to Gollum Over Recent Appearance Rumors
As Olivia Wilde navigates rampant criticism over her recent appearance on the red carpet, the actress and director knows that siblings are always the ones to keep us humble.
Wilde, 42, rose to stardom on House and The O.C. before making her directorial debut with Booksmart in 2019. She followed that up with Don't Worry Darling, and recently debuted her latest directorial effort, The Invite, which she also stars in. But after a video of Wilde looking very thin on the red carpet while promoting the new film went viral, her brother, Charles Cockburn, is having the time of his life roasting his sister.
“Olivia Wilde, do you care to address recent rumors that you’re a resurrected corpse?” Cockburn can be heard asking Wilde on the video, which was shared to her Instagram Stories. Lying back on a cozy couch outdoors covered in blankets, Wilde laughs as her brother juxtaposed a photo of her at the viral event, in which her smoky-eyed makeup accentuates the size of her eyes, and is placed next to a photo of Gollum from TheLord of the Rings.
“Listen, that is a fisheye lens,” Olivia said, laughing. “And I admit, is that my best angle? Was that my best ever look? No, it’s a startling image.” Wilde continued, saying, “I don’t know why I was so close to the camera. I didn’t have to be. That’s not the truth.”
“I’m not dead," she added. On the video, Wilde wrote, “Leave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of s---.”

What Video of Wilde Caused Such a Stir? The video that caused such a stir was from an SFGate interview taken at the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 24. The video racked up 4,738 comments, many of which inquired about Wilde's appearance. The comments criticized everything from her heavy eye makeup, which made her eyes seem particularly large, to the type of camera lens the photographer used. However, many people inquired about Wilde's health, wondering if she was okay. Several people chimed in, citing the rampant use of GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic in Hollywood, which Wilde has never said anything about using.

Jordon Hudson and Bill Belichick Trudge Through the Mud at the Kentucky Derby: ‘Not the First Time'
Jordon Hudson, the girlfriend of former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, is having a laugh while the duo enjoys the Kentucky Derby.
Hudson, 25, and the legendary coach, 74, were photographed dressed to the nines as they made their way through the dirt on the horse track at Churchill Downs, the iconic venue for the Kentucky Derby. But as Hudson noted, this isn't the only muddy weather the duo has navigated in the past.
"Not the first time we’ve trudged through the mud together. 🤝🏻🩷🐎," Hudson captioned the photo set, which showed them holding hands on the track in their colorful outfits.
View this post on Instagram What Happened During the Sunday Morning Interview? The duo's spin around the track at the Derby comes just one year after Belichick's notorious interview with Tony Dokoupil for Sunday Morning. While the interview was meant to promote Belichick's book, The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football, it took an unexpected spin when Hudson interjected with “We're not talking about this.”
If you need a refresher, check out the moment below:
Hudson Competes in Cheerleading Competitions and PageantsWhile Belichick may be the coach, Hudson is a seasoned competitor. She competes with her cheerleading team, Code Black, and is a frequent face in pageants, competing in the Miss Maine competition last year. Just last week, she shared a photo from a recent cheerleading competition as she and her Code Black teammates took home the championship in International Coed Non-Tumbling at Cheerleading Worlds in Florida on Saturday, April 25, PEOPLE reported.
"Last April 27th, I went to bed, crushed by the weight of the world.
This April 27th, I woke up on top of it. 🌎🥇💍," she shared.
Hudson took to Instagram last January to celebrate pageants, comparing “Beauty Queens” to “Contemporary Suffragettes.”
“A little known fact is that pageantry in the USA was birthed in 1921, in the wake of the Women’s Suffrage Movement; with the title sashes emulating those of the great women warriors who fought for our Rights as Women,” Hudson wrote. “Like feminism, pageantry is malleable & looks a lot different now than it did 104 years ago, however, the essence and mission to perpetuate Women’s Rights and Empowerment is never-changing.”

Aldi's 12-Piece Kitchen Set Is Exactly What You Need to Make Big-Batch Cooking a Breeze

I'm going to go out on a limb here and make a big assumption that most of us—not all, but most—are in some sort of natural rotation with the meals we make at home. This is especially true if you're feeding picky eaters who simply like what they like. (Bo judgment.) It's one of those comforts of home. Yeah, it would be nice to mix things up and come up with something new night after night, but who has the time or energy for that? Let me just say that I do not.
If I'm making mostly the same stuff week in and week out, I like to cook things up in big batches for freezing. It just makes my life a little easier in the weeks ahead. Even just meal prepping ingredients I know I'm going to use during the week is a major time-saver. Of course, to do all of this, I need food storage, and a lot of it.

Crofton Rectangle Blue Container, $14.99 at AldiAldi
This is exactly why whenever Aldi busts out one of their container sets in the Aldi Finds aisle, I hop in the car and head straight there. Take this 12-piece Crofton Rectangle Container Set, for instance. There are 12 rectangular food storage containers in different sizes, each with a snap-on lid, perfect for stacking in the fridge to save space. And the whole set only costs $14.99, which is an incredible price for this many pieces.
Related: Dollar General's Vibrant Boho Rug Is Charming, Durable and So Affordable
To say a glass food storage set of this size typically costs a lot more is an understatement. In fact, a brief search of the Interwebs pulled up the closest thing to the Aldi price, which is still $4 more on sale. It's the OXO Good Grips Smart Seal Glass Container - Set of 12 at the Container Store for $18.99, but regularly priced at $34.99.
Aldi is also selling a 12-piece container set in a round shape if you prefer that to a rectangular one. And there's a red colorway as well, just note that when Aldi says "blue" and "red" in this instance, they mean the rim around the lids are those colors, the containers themselves are transparent. What's the same about all of these food storage sets, however, is that each sells at that affordable $14.99 price.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Sheriff Speaks Out About the Case for the First Time in Weeks
The investigation into Nancy Guthrie's disappearance is ongoing, now more than 90 days since authorities say that she was abducted from her Arizona home.
In an interview with KVOA, Sheriff Chris Nanos spoke out for the first time in weeks.
"The reward money is still there—it's there for a reason. We think somebody out there knows something. We know they do. We know someone out there knows what happened. Call us," Nanos said.
New updates in the case have been sparse as investigators continue working through tips, leads, and evidence. In the middle of April, ABC News reported that the FBI had been sent some DNA evidence from Guthrie's home after it was released by a lab in Florida. The DNA, said to be a hair sample, will undergo advanced testing in hopes of finding a match within CODIS—the FBI's database that stores DNA profiles from past offenders.
While the news certainly renewed the public's interest in the case, the Pima County Sheriff's Department made it clear that the hair wasn't a new development.
"PCSD has worked with the FBI since the beginning of the Guthrie investigation,” the statement, posted on X, read. "This is not new information. The private lab we utilize in Florida continues to share information with the FBI lab & other partner labs across the country. DNA analysis remains ongoing."
The statement marked the department’s first public update in nearly a month. With few major developments announced publicly, Sheriff Nanos has scaled back media appearances and stopped holding regular press conferences about the case.

Eight Years Ago Today, the Academy Expelled Bill Cosby
Eight years ago today, the most elite and prestigious organization in the film industry made a rare and bold move against Bill Cosby.
Known for his warm and charismatic on-screen presence, the award-winning comedian became widely celebrated for his legacy through the hit TV show The Cosby Show, earning him the title of "America's Dad.”
However, amid the glory and acclaim attached to his name, it was shattered when he became entangled in a major controversy.
On May 3, 2018, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences sent shockwaves through Hollywood after expelling the actor and television producer as one of its members.
At the time, the organization announced that both Cosby and director Roman Polanski would be removed following the vote by the Academy’s Board of Governors for violating the standards of conduct.

“The Board continues to encourage ethical standards that require members to uphold the Academy's values of respect for human dignity," the statement reads, as cited by BBC.
The decision was publicly announced a week after the Ghost Dad star was found guilty of assaulting a woman.
What Did Bill Cosby Get Accused of Doing?Back in 2004, Andrea Constand, a former staff member of Temple University, linked the host to sexually assaulting and drugging her at his suburban Philadelphia home.
After the incident was reported in 2005 and dismissed for insufficient evidence and after a civil lawsuit was filed in 2006 and reportedly settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, the case was reopened in 2015 following the release of hidden legal documents.
It was in 2018 that the retrial took place, resulting in Cosby being sentenced to three to 10 years in prison.

It was in 2021 when he was set free from prison after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction.
As for the acclaimed director known for his psychological thrillers like Rosemary’s Baby and Chinatown, he was convicted of statutory rape involving a 13-year-old following his confession.
Cosby and Polanski weren't the only ones who were kicked out of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The list includes renowned film producer Harvey Weinstein, who faced sexual assault accusations made by over 80 women.
Another is cinematographer Adam Kimmel, whose notable projects were the 2005 movie Capote and Never Let Me Go in 2010.
He was expelled as one of the members of the Academy after being arrested for sexual crimes involving underage girls in 2003 and 2010.

What Has Matthew McConaughey Said About Parenting?McConaughey opened up about parenting on the April 21 episode of Bear Grylls Is Running Wild. The star, who also has a 13-year-old son named Livingston, discussed how important parenting is, saying the “greatest art” a man can create is being a “good father to a son or a daughter.”
“I think a man’s a prince until he has children, then he becomes a king. I don’t think there’s anything more important that a man can do,” he told Grylls. “In fact, man, we’re mortal. That’s the beginning of our immortality, and hopefully, we’re lucky enough for them to have offspring, and it continues to pass that down. I think that’s the greatest art that a man can make is being a good father to a son or a daughter.”

1991 Primetime Soap Finale Ranked Among 'Most Unforgettable' of All Time Aired Exactly 35 Years Ago Today
On May 3, 1991, CBS aired the finale of Dallas after 14 seasons and 357 episodes. The show ended, quite literally, with a bang.
Originally premiering in 1978, Dallas told the story of the Ewing family, led by matriarch Sue Ellen (Barbara Bel Geddes), her husband Jock (Jim Davis), and their children, J.R. and Bobby (Patrick Duffy), along with their extended family and friends. The series' popularity quickly changed the landscape of television, with competitors following suit and building the primetime soap genre with series such as Dynasty, Knots Landing, and Falcon Crest.
A promotional still from the American television series 'Dallas' shows members of the Ewing family as they pose in front of their television home, the Southfork Ranch, Dallas, Texas, 1979. Back row, from left, Patrick Duffy (as Bobby Ewing) (standing), Victoria Principal (as Pamela Barnes Ewing) (in red dress), Barbara Bel Geddes (as Eleanor Southworth' Miss Ellie' Ewing), and Larry Hagman (as John Ross' J.R.' Ewing, Jr.). Front row, from left, Charlene Tilton (as Lucy Ewing), Jim Davis (1909 - 1981) (as John Ross' Jock' Ewing), and Linda Gray (as Sue Ellen Ewing). (Photo by CBS Photo Archive/Getty Images)The series became known for its intricate storylines, its ensemble cast, and its cliffhanger endings that kept viewers tuning in week after week.
As Dallas continued, over time, J.R. moved from being a secondary character in the Romeo and Juliet love story of his brother and sister-in-law to the forefront of the series. Viewers became hooked on the scheming oil tycoon's wandering eye, which ultimately led to the jaw-dropping, iconic cliffhanger: "Who Shot J.R.?"
From that point forward, the series became a cultural phenomenon, as the entire nation waited for the revelation. At one point, President Jimmy Carter, while at a fundraiser in Dallas, reportedly joked, "I came to Dallas to find out confidentially who shot J.R."
At its peak, Dallas was watched by over 83 million viewers, notably for the Season 4 episode "Who Dun It?" when Sue Ellen's sister, J.R.'s mistress Kristen Shepard (Mary Cosby), was revealed as the culprit.
A promotional still from the American television series shows American actress Mary Crosby (as Kristin Shepard), 1980. (Photo by CBS Photo Archive/Getty Images)In 1991, CBS built anticipation for the finale by promoting J.R. Ewing's "Judgment Day," teasing the return of six iconic characters from the series run, and promising viewers that the series would end with a memorable "bang."
Inspired by It's A Wonderful Life, the finale finds J.R. guided by Adam (Joel Grey), a spirit. Adam shows J.R. what his loved ones' lives would have been like without him.
The episode centered on J.R.'s closest circle, including brothers Bobby and Gary (Ted Shackleford), rival Cliff Barnes, wife Sue Ellen, mistress Kristen Shepard, and others.
After the experience, Adam urges J.R. to take his own life. J.R. resists, tells Adam to return to heaven, and Adam cryptically asks J.R. what made him think he came from Heaven as J.R. wakes up.
Still conflicted, J.R. is again visited by Adam, now in a red suit, who urges him to act. Adam yells, "Do IT!" The scene shifts to Bobby returning home, hearing a gunshot, and rushing to find J.R., exclaiming, "Oh, my God!" The series ends with a freeze frame on Bobby in the doorway, leaving J.R.'s fate unknown.
Over 22 million people watched the finale, which ranked among TV Guide Network's top 15 Most Unforgettable Finales in 2011.
Reflecting on the finale, fans posted their reactions on X,(formerly Twitter), with one user saying, "Truly one of the more bizarre series finales that I can remember! Though I like that it ended on a cliffhanger."
The mystery of J.R.'s fate was finally addressed five years later with the TV movie Dallas: J.R. Returns. In this follow-up, Bobby discovers J.R. speaking to the devil, and the gunshot was revealed to have shattered a mirror.
Dallas returned in 2012 when TNT revived the series for three seasons, concluding again in 2014, 21 years after the original finale.
Dallas is available for streaming on various video-on-demand platforms such as YouTube TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV.
‘Crocodile Dundee’ Star Paul Hogan’s Son Arrested for Domestic Battery After Incident at Dad’s Home
The son of Crocodile Dundee actors Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski was arrested outside his father's home for domestic battery on Friday, the New York Post reported.
Hogan, 86, is best known for the beloved 1986 film, which tells the story of a journalist, played by Kozlowski, who travels to rural Australia to meet Michael “Crocodile” Dundee. The film became a fan favorite back in the ’80s and spawned a series of sequels, including Crocodile Dundee II and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. While Hogan tends to live a quieter life these days, he was spotted by the Post outside his Los Angeles home following the arrest of his and Kozlowski's son, Chance.
Chance was booked for domestic battery, and his bail was set at $20,000, the Post noted, adding that it was unclear if the incident also involved Paul or someone else inside the home. An unknown female on the scene was spotted filling out information for the police.
Did Linda Kozlowski Marry Paul Hogan?Yes! After starring with Hogan in the first beloved film, the duo married in 1990 and went on to have their son, Chance. However, the couple ultimately divorced in 2014.
Why Did Linda Kozlowski Quit Acting?Kozlowski wasn’t finding the fulfillment she desired in the acting world, and ultimately chose to say goodbye to Tinseltown. In 2001, she told the Scripps Howard News Service that the projects she was being offered weren’t giving her what she needed.
“These straight-to-video schlocky films I was getting were giving me an ulcer, basically because I was the only one on the set that cared about anything,” Kozlowski shared. “I’d say, ‘Well, this scene doesn’t make sense.’ [They would say,] ‘Aw, so what, just say the lines.’ [And] I thought, ‘This isn’t fun anymore. This is not why I studied, it’s not what I love.’ Between that and my biological clock, I decided to give it all away.”
According to HELLO!, she now runs a Morocco-based tour company with her husband, called Dream My Destiny.
The Memorable Crocodile Attack SceneOne of the most memorable scenes of Kozlowski’s from the original film is when her character is seen attempting to refill her canteen as Dundee watches lovingly from a distance. Unfortunately, a crocodile jumps out of the water and catches the canteen in its mouth, nearly strangling her until Dundee saves the day. Who could forget that iconic ’80s moment?
Nancy Guthrie Exclusive: Church Friends Remain Silent After Reported Family Request
As the Nancy Guthrie case continues into its fourth month, several key questions remain unanswered. Early in the investigation, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Guthrie, 84, was expected to go to a friend’s house on Sunday, Feb. 1, to watch a livestream of mass. When she did not arrive and friends were unable to reach her, the family was contacted out of concern.
NewsNation’s Brian Entin tells Parade what he's learned regarding Guthrie's church friends.
"We've heard from several that the Guthrie family has asked Nancy's close friends to keep things private right now," Entin says. "You haven't seen a lot of her close friends come forward and talk about her, which is different than other cases."
Entin adds that there remains significant unease surrounding the case, particularly among residents in the Tucson area.
"I also think people here are still nervous about the whole thing. For us covering it, we live in different states, but people who live here in Tucson, especially in the neighborhood, these kinds of things don't happen, and the fact that there's no new information and they have no idea who did it, I think people are just still nervous about the whole thing, which might be why you don't see as many people talking about it," Entin explains.
He also noted that those connected to the case have varied in their willingness to speak publicly.
“It’s been interesting to see who wants to talk and who doesn’t," Entin says, pointing out that Guthrie's church friends were the first people to alert others that she didn’t show up and wasn’t answering calls. "No one has said anything."
Entin will host the upcoming television special, NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery, that will air on the CW on Wednesday, May 6. Entin tells Parade that he's tried to get in contact with some of Guthrie's church friends for the special, but was unsuccessful.
Guthrie has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Anyone with information about her whereabouts or who might be responsible for her disappearance is asked to call the FBI (1-800-CALL-FBI).

How American Airlines Can Help If Your Spirit Flight Was Just Canceled
If you're one of the many travelers left holding an unusable ticket after Spirit Airlines’ immediate operational wind-down, American Airlines is moving into high gear to help you get home.
The carrier is currently in direct coordination with the Department of Transportation and the administration to mitigate the widespread impact on the 72 communities Spirit previously served.
For passengers whose travel has been disrupted, American has immediately implemented "rescue fares" on nonstop routes that overlap with Spirit’s former network. Because American already operates in 70 of the 72 airports Spirit serves and covers 67 of their specific routes, it is uniquely positioned to catch those left in the lurch.

American is currently providing transportation for team members who were displaced while on work trips and has launched a dedicated hiring push to welcome qualified staff into its own ranks. A hiring microsite is expected to go live on the American Airlines jobs portal this weekend, with formal recruiting events scheduled to follow in the coming weeks.

The upholstery is made from soft polyester fabric that feels breathable and easy to maintain. It’s wrinkle-resistant and designed for everyday use, so it holds up well without requiring much upkeep. Assembly is also straightforward, which makes the setup process less of a hassle.
One shopper described the chair as “very sturdy,” adding, “It completely transformed my space and added the perfect touch of warmth and style. The cushioning is supportive without feeling too firm, making it perfect for reading, relaxing, or just adding extra seating in the room.”

This Underwear Mistake Is Super Common, Doctors Warn—and It’s a Health Hazard
Underwear is an afterthought for many people. You simply stick your hand in a drawer and pull on whatever you come out with. But there’s a super common underwear mistake you’re probably making. And, unfortunately, it’s not great for your health.
Even if you’ve gotten away with this in the past, it doesn’t mean you’ll be OK in the future. This underwear mistake can trip you up, leaving you uncomfortable, itchy and possibly even smelly. If you continue to unintentionally self-sabotage, you could be setting yourself up for some serious future discomfort.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to completely switch up your underwear habits. But doctors say that you’ll keep falling into the same health hazard trap if you repeatedly keep doing this.
Luckily, the solution is simple—and it’s based on science. “This is not just theoretical,” says Dr. Melanie Santos, MD, urogynecologist and medical director of Urogynecology and Pelvic Health at Providence Little Company of Mary in Torrance, CA. Here’s the incredibly common underwear mistake you’re probably already making, plus how to change things up going forward.

The Common Underwear Mistake To Avoid, According to DoctorsOne of the most common underwear mistakes people make? It’s not wearing cotton underwear. “From a clinical standpoint, the goal is to maintain a cool, dry vulvovaginal environment, because the vaginal microbiome is highly sensitive to moisture and heat,” Dr. Santos tells Parade.
Cotton is a breathable, moisture-wicking natural fiber that allows for air circulation and helps keep the vulvovaginal area dry, explains Dr. Dillon Knight, MD, ob-gyn at Northwell’s Lenox Hill Hospital.
“Synthetic fabrics—nylon, polyester, spandex—trap heat and moisture against the skin, creating a warm, humid microenvironment that favors the growth of Candida species (yeast) and potentially pathogenic bacteria,” she says.
Cotton underwear “even helps reduce sweating because it is naturally porous,” shares Dr. Christine Greves, MD, an ob-gyn at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Orlando, Florida.

What Can Happen if You Make This Mistake?A few things can go wrong. Synthetic fabrics create a warm, humid microenvironment against the vagina, leading to the growth of yeast and bacteria, Dr. Santos says. That translates to a higher risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs), yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis (BV) and vulvar irritation, she explains.
Not only that, “odor-causing bacteria can get trapped,” leading to a bad smell, points out Dr. Jennifer Wider, MD, an ob-gyn and host of the "Open Wider" podcast.

Are Other Underwear Types OK?Doctors generally recommend steering away from synthetic fabrics for underwear. However, you may be able to get away with underwear that just has a cotton-lined crotch, Dr. Greves explains. “You could try it and see what seems to work best with you,” she says. “Keep in mind that whatever you’re choosing, you want to make sure that it does not irritate and allows for moisture absorption and breathing to help limit irritation, friction and infections.”
But all-over cotton is still your best bet. “One hundred percent cotton is preferable because, if you sweat [in underwear with synthetic fabric], the synthetic material on the rest of the underwear can cause irritation and can trap heat and bacteria,” Dr. Wider says.
Other Ways To Lower Your Risk of Utis and Yeast InfectionsThere are a few other ways to lower your risk of UTIs and yeast infections, according to Dr. Knight:
- Drink more water. This can dramatically lower your risk of UTIs, she says. “This is particularly relevant in summer when dehydration from heat and sweating concentrates urine and reduces voiding frequency,” she adds.
- Don’t spend a lot of time in wet clothes. “Change out of wet bathing suits and sweaty workout clothes promptly,” Dr. Knight says. Otherwise, drawn-out moisture exposure can encourage the growth of fungus and bacteria down there.
- Pee regularly.Don’t try to hold it in, and pee soon after sex, if you can, Dr. Knight recommends.
- Don’t douche. This can disrupt your vaginal flora, raising the risk of infection, she says.
- Try to avoid irritants. “Excessive washing, bubble baths and perfumed soaps can damage the protective vaginal flora and should be avoided,” Dr. Knight warns.
And, of course, stick with cotton underwear when you can. “The best available evidence—ranging from expert clinical guidance to emerging prospective studies—consistently shows that reducing heat, moisture and friction is central to preventing infection and irritation,” Dr. Santos says. “Breathable fabrics like cotton are a simple, evidence-supported way to achieve that.”

Eve Plumb, Maureen McCormick Worked Together Before The Brady Bunch
In the 1970s, Eve Plumb and Maureen McCormick played sisters for five seasons on The Brady Bunch. After the classic ABC series ended in 1974, the actresses also reunited for multiple TV specials, movies, and spinoffs. But years before they were Brady sisters, the two former child stars appeared together in a TV commercial for Mattel’s Chatty Cathy doll.
In her book Happiness Included, Plumb, 68, recalled crossing paths with her future sitcom sibling for the 1966 commercial shoot. Noting that early in her career she did commercials for “Mattel's talking dolls Chatty Cathy, Chatty Baby and Charmin’ Chatty,” Plumb wrote, “In one of their doll commercials, my future Brady Bunchsister Maureen McCormick and I are at an outdoor tea party with our dolls.”
McCormick, who played eldest sister Marcia Brady on The Brady Bunch, was the clear star of the commercial. She was front and center in the ad as Plumb was seen smiling and playing with her doll in a quick shot.
Both actresses have the commercial spot listed on their IMDb pages, with Plumb credited as Girl #3 and McCormick as Girl #1.
After CathyAfter shooting the iconic 1966 ad, Plumb would go on to peddle Talkin’ Barbie’s new British best friend, Stacey, but McCormick scored a bigger role as the official voice of the Chatty Cathy doll, according to The Seattle Times.
In a 2026 interview with the Pop Culture Preservation Society, Plumb revealed that acting just became a part of her “life” after a neighbor who was a talent agent suggested she give it a try at age six.
“It’s so funny because I think that when you look back at your childhood, you're like, people ask you what was it like. It was, you're like, well, it was like what was happening. It was just my life,” she said. “So, that was just the part of our life where I would go to auditions, and I would get the job. It was difficult if I didn't ever get a job. That was upsetting because it seemed to me as like, well, this is what happens. I go in, I get the job. I never had a feeling of I beat somebody out for it. It's just that this is what happens.”
Plumb also confirmed that while she appeared in a lot of doll commercials, she didn’t usually get to take home the toys. “No…. I think they gave me the Baby Secret, but I don't remember having it and loving it,” she shared. “I had a Raggedy Ann doll. I had my Barbies. I had Troll Dolls.”
In her book, Plumb also reflected on a 1968 commercial she did for Glad sandwich bags. In the spot, she frantically runs up to a woman cast as her mother and says, “I hate school! My sandwiches are so stale, nobody will trade with me!”
Plumb recalled that she “winced” when she rewatched the ad recently. “I was usually cast as the obedient, courteous, and kind little girl," she wrote in Happiness Included. "Not this time. I’m flame-throwing at my distressed mother, like Rhoda in The Bad Seed."

Fans Rediscovered This 1972 Hit Song Thanks to Netflix's Wildly Successful 2019 Series
The 1972 hit song "Dancing in the Moonlight" by King Harvest is instantly joyful, invoking a vibe that has listeners swaying and swooning right from the start. For this reason, it makes perfect sense that the decades-old hit came roaring back onto the music scene in 2019, after a cover of the song appeared in an unforgettable scene in the popular television show The Umbrella Academy.
The Umbrella Academy is a Netflix show about a dysfunctional, crime-fighting family of superpowered siblings, all adopted by their billionaire father in an attempt to save the world. The show ran for five years, from February 2019, to August 2024. In Season 1, Episode 6, titled "The Day That Wasn't," The Umbrella Academy siblings Allison Hargreeves (played by Emmy Raver-Lampman) and Luther Hargreeves (played by Tom Hopper) indulge in fantasy dance scene, choreographed to the Toploader cover of "Dancing in the Moonlight."
While the Allison and Luther are not biologically related, they were raised as sister and brother. However, they clearly have romantic feelings for each other they can't shake, a fact fans simultaneously loved and were upset by. So the intimate dance scene, in which the two characters play out their love for one another, signifies the "what is but can't be" between them.
The original song "Dancing in the Moonlight" was written back in 1968 by Sherman Kelly and recorded in 1970 by his band Boffalongo. However, the song truly took off when the French-American rock band King Harvest released their single of the song in July 1972. This hit version of the song peaked at No. 13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Now, fast forward to February 2000, and the English band Toploader released a cover of "Dancing in the Moonlight," as the third single on their debut studio album, Onka's Big Moka. The song became a huge hit in the UK at the time.
But when Toploader's version of the song aired on the memorable episode The Umbrella Academy in 2019, the song got a second life and a major streaming revival. For perspective, currently on the Spotify streaming service, the generation-crossing 2000 cover by Toploader has over 1.2 billion streams, and the 1972 King Harvest version has around 4.8 million streams.

Toploader's version of "Dancing in the Moonlight" worked perfectly in the emotional scene of The Umbrella Academy. The combination of the song's nostalgic, feel-good vibe, carefree lyrics, and the old Hollywood style choreography by Emma Portner helped fans escape into the dreamy but short-lived romantic moment between these two characters.
After the airing, the song was given new life and a whole new generation of fans, and now it's widely recognized for its cross-generational appeal. Even more than five decades after its origination, the song keeps finding its way back to listeners.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Sheriff's Department Makes Changes With FBI as Case Scrutiny Grows (Exclusive)
Following reports that Sheriff Chris Nanos was not fully cooperating with the FBI in the Nancy Guthrie case, NewsNation's Brian Entin tells Parade that things have improved.
"It's an interesting situation because there's a lot of animosity towards the sheriff," Entin, who has been covering the Guthrie case since the beginning, tells Parade. "I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. And I have heard through sources that he's working better with the FBI now. I know initially there were issues there with him not sharing information with the FBI. I'm told mostly that's been resolved....I think he has good intentions. I really do."
Sheriff Nanos has faced criticism over the early handling of the investigation, including the decision to declare Guthrie’s home a crime scene early in the case. There have also been reports questioning the experience level of homicide investigators working the case.
Nanos has denied claims that his office was not cooperating with federal authorities. In early February, he told KVOA that reports suggesting otherwise were “not even close to the truth.”
Entin tells Parade that he thinks Nanos "genuinely cares about the case" and that he "wants to find Nancy."
Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Authorities believe that she was abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night.
For more information on the case, be sure to tune in to NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery, which will air on the CW on Wednesday, May 6. The television special, hosted by Entin, will offer a complete timeline and will also give viewers a clearer profile of the suspect.

Drama Inspired by a Classic 1959 Novel Ranked Among the Greatest Netflix Shows of the Last 10 Years
Collider recently put together a ranking of the “10 Greatest Netflix Shows of the Last 10 Years.” Topping the list was Adolescence, which was released in 2025 and won several Golden Globes and Primetime Emmys. However, a more underrated series that made the list was The Haunting of Hill House, which premiered in 2018.
The show, which was created and directed by Mike Flanagan, was based on the 1959 novel by Shirley Jackson. The gothic horror story was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction in 1960. Considered one of the greatest haunted house stories ever written, it tells the story of four characters who arrive at Hill House.
THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, revised and remodeled by Mike Flanagan. I don't usually care for this kind of revisionism, but this is great. Close to a work of genius, really. I think Shirley Jackson would approve, but who knows for sure.
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) October 17, 2018As described by Amazon, they are “Dr. Montague, an occult scholar looking for solid evidence of a haunting; Theodora, his lighthearted assistant; Eleanor, a friendless, fragile young woman well acquainted with poltergeists; and Luke, the future heir of Hill House. At first, their stay seems destined to be merely a spooky encounter with inexplicable phenomena. But Hill House is gathering its powers—and soon it will choose one of them to make its own.”

The modern reimagining of the book, which consists of 10 episodes, has a 93% critic rating and 91% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It features a star-studded cast that includes Michiel Huisman, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, and Victoria Pedretti.
As one Reddit viewer said, “I only watched it because I saw Stephen King review it as one of the best horror programs to come out in years, and I respect the King, so I gave it a go. I thought it was brilliant, so so so much more than a jump scare ghost story. It explores family relationships, trauma and mental health with the added dimension of this haunted house.”
The series was so beloved that a follow-up series was released in 2020 called The Haunting of Bly Manor, which featured a lot of the same cast playing different characters.
Also making the list of “10 Greatest Netflix Shows of the Last 10 Years” were Dark, Arcane, Stranger Things, Squid Game, The Crown, Mindhunter, Ozark, and Beef.
