Subway's New Limited-Time 'Swicy' Hot Honey Menu Has an Unexpected Collab With an Iconic Chip

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:46am

Hot Honey is back! Subway jumped on this sweet-and-spicy trend last year, introducing the Hot Honey Pepperoni and Hot Honey Chicken sandwiches. While those limited-time menu items have come and gone, the affordable eatery is bringing back the flavor in a new collab with a zesty Doritos kick.

This year’s Hot Honey Swicy Collection features a bold, unexpected mash-up that is poised to become your next favorite side. And FYI, in case you’re wondering, “swicy” equals sweet plus spicy.

The new Doritos Hot Honey Nachos feature Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips, Monterey cheddar, veggies, and a drizzle of Subway’s signature Hot Honey. Choose from chicken, steak, or cheese options.

But that’s not all. Along with the sweet and spicy (or “swicy”) side, you can also nab one of two new subs. Or, if you’re that hungry, both! Instead of pepperoni and chicken sammies, the 2026 Swicy signature menu includes a Hot Honey Italian (salami, pepperoni, and Italian-style Provolone cheese) and Hot Honey Turkey Italiano (turkey, salami, pepperoni, and Italian-style Provolone cheese).

Chef Paul Fabre, SVP of Culinary Innovation, shared, “Great Hot Honey is all about balance. You want enough heat to wake up the flavor, followed by a touch of sweetness that keeps you coming back for another bite.”

Subway’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jeff Klein, explained the Hot Honey menu return, “Our guests made it clear they wanted Hot Honey back, and we wanted to do more than simply bring back the same lineup.” Klein continued, We partnered with Doritos to give them something completely unexpected: loaded Hot Honey Nachos with the big flavor, satisfying crunch, and value guests expect from Subway.”

When can you get Subway’s Hot Honey Signature Swicy Collection?

The Doritos collab and new sandwiches are available only from August 20 through October 26, or while supplies last, at participating restaurants. Get the limited-edition chicken and cheese nachos for $4.99 (prices may vary by location). Order in-store, online, or in Subway’s app. Visit the company’s website here to find a Subway near you.

What do fans think about the new Subway Swicy Doritos collab?

When Subway teased the collab on Instagram with a deliciously daring video of the Doritos nachos, fans couldn’t contain their excitement.

Jay Shetty Reflects on Emotional Interview With Hayden Panettiere Following Her Death

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:45am

Following the news of Hayden Panettiere‘s death, podcaster Jay Shetty, who conducted what would be one of the actress’ last interviews earlier this year, shared a heartfelt tribute.

“Just a few months ago, I had the privilege of sitting down with you on On Purpose,” he said referring to his podcast interview with the late actress in May. “After the episode you told me it was truly healing. You said I was now like a big brother to you and that I helped you be brave.”

View this post on Instagram

“But Hayden, you were the brave one,” he continued. “You were courageous, resilient, and so incredibly strong through so many difficult moments in your life. You should never have had to experience the things you did.”

In the interview, Panettiere opened up about her years-long struggle with mental health, which included postpartum depression and drug addiction. She also shared how she’s coped after the death of her brother Jansen, who died in 2023.

“I hope you know how loved you are. How many people you helped. How your vulnerability moved others. My heart and prayers are with you, your daughter, your family, friends and fans,” he concluded.

While the actress’ cause of death has not been officially declared, it was reported that she suffered cardiac arrest after being found unresponsive at a home in Greenville, North Carolina on Sunday. Initial reports of a drug overdose were also not confirmed.

Panettiere’s father shared the news of his daughter’s death in a statement.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” he shared with ABC News. “She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”

Celebrity tributes from her former co-stars including Alyson Stoner, Alexa PenaVega, and Connie Britton, all poured in, remembering the actress.

“I have no words for this sad song,” Britton captured a photo from the pair’s time on Nashville together. “Just heartbreak. I love you girl. Sleep easy now.”

The Heroes and Nashville star, who would have been 37 on August 21, shares her 11-year-old daughter Kaya with ex-husband, Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

2000 Film, Named Among Best Sports Movies, Was One of Hayden Panettiere's Biggest Breakout Roles

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:40am

Cute as a button, but fiery, Hayden Panettiere’s role in Remember the Titans is one that launched her career to another level of stardom.

Led by star power with Denzel Washington and Ryan Gosling, followed by more familiar faces who would eventually become Hollywood mainstays, such as Ethan Suplee and Donald Faison, this 2000 Disney feel-good movie was nothing short of a springboard for much of the cast.

Better yet, it’s remembered as one of the greatest sports films, with Bleacher Report even making the case for it as the best sports movie of the 2000s. How could it not be?

While Denzel’s role as head coach Herman Boone is certainly memorable, as is the cohesion of the young, up-and-coming cast from top to bottom, perhaps the most memorable was just 10 years old at the time, Hayden Panettiere’s portrayal as Sheryl Yoast, the football-obsessed daughter of assistant coach Bill Yoast, played by Will Patton.

This was her first major role on the big screen, as Remember the Titans would go on to shatter her brief appearance as a mermaid in The Object of My Affection. She absolutely nailed it, receiving praise from critics, with Movie Magazine International calling her performance “one of the more surprising” in the film and her scenes with Washington “terrific.”

Based on a true story, Remember the Titans follows the newly integrated T.C. Williams High School football team in 1971, where racial tensions initially divide the players and coaching staff. Under Coach Boone, the Titans gradually put their differences aside, forming a brotherhood that carries them through an unforgettable championship run with Panettiere’s football-obsessed character cheering them on through thick and thin.

You can take a trip down memory lane watching the 26-year-old film for free (with a subscription), currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

In 2023, Panettiere reflected on her life and career, saying “If I had wished to go back to any time in my life, it would be going back to Remember the Titans., adding it was her “favorite movie to film.”

Sadly, the popular actress was found dead in Greenville, South Carolina on Aug. 16, 2026, at the age of 36, leaving behind a legacy of standout performances across film and television.

Hayden Panettiere Update: Actress Was Reportedly With Brian Hickerson When She Died

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:39am

New details about the final hours of Hayden Panettiere’s life are being released.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, People magazine reported that Panettiere, 36, was with her on/off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, at the time of her death, according to a law enforcement source. The outlet notes that it’s unclear whether or not Hickerson was the person who called 911.

TMZ previously reported that the Heroes actress flew to “the south” with Hickerson, whom she has dated on-and-off since 2018, on Saturday, Aug. 15. The next day, she was found unresponsive inside a South Carolina apartment that was believed to be an Airbnb.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene just before 2 p.m. local time on Sunday. Despite “advanced cardiac life support” measures, Panettiere was pronounced dead less than one hour later.

“No signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death,” read a statement by coroner Mike Ellis following Panettiere’s autopsy (via People). “The cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies. This investigation remains active and ongoing. No further details are available for release at this time.”

Panettiere and Hickerson had a tumultuous relationship that was marked by domestic violence allegations that landed Hickerson in jail more than once. He and Panettiere officially broke up in 2022, but sources tell TMZ that they’d rekindled their romance, though they kept things quiet in recent months.

Earlier this year, Hickerson sat down for an interview with TMZ. During that interview, he admitted to the abuse and supported the release of Panettiere’s new memoir, saying, “I think it’s great. I think everyone should read it. I mean, the domestic violence stuff, my chapter, everybody should read it.”

Hickerson has not yet spoken out about Panettiere’s death.

The actress is survived by her only daughter, Kaya, 11.

Cher's 1998 Hit 'Believe' Surpasses 1 Billion Streams on Spotify After 27 Years

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:36am

She’s been called a comeback queen so many times the title practically comes with her name, and Cher just proved it again.

The Goddess of Pop had already earned legend status by the time she released Believe in October 1998. She’d spent the ’60s in one of pop’s most iconic duos, racked up chart-topping hits through the ’70s, and reinvented herself as an MTV mainstay in the ’80s. Nearly three decades later, the song just added another milestone to that résumé: 1 billion streams on Spotify.

The title track from Cher’s 22nd studio album, Believe, crossed the billion-stream mark 27 years after its release, Spotify confirmed this week alongside Warner Records.

How Did Cher React to the Milestone? View this post on Instagram

Cher shared the news on Instagram, writing that she’d struggled to put the moment into words. “It’s crazy that I haven’t been able to express how I feel about one billion streams,” she wrote, adding that she’s been “doing work I was meant to do” since she was 19.

What Records Did Believe Break When It First Came Out? CHER Portrait Session 1981

The song’s original run was just as dominant. It hit No. 1 in 21 countries, spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, and sold more than 11 million copies worldwide, according to Grammy.com

It also set a Hot 100 record that still stands today, the longest gap between chart-toppers by the same artist, 33 years and seven months, stretching back to Cher’s 1965 duet with Sonny Bono, I Got You Babe.

How Did Believe Change the Sound of Pop Music?

Beyond the numbers, Believe reshaped pop itself. Its signature vocal effect became one of the most imitated production techniques in music, and its success helped push a wave of veteran pop stars, including Diana Ross, Tina Turner and Donna Summer, back onto the dance floor within the following year.

Why Did Cher Walk Out While Recording ‘Believe’?

It is now one of Cher’s signature songs, but recording ‘Believe’ was far from smooth. The If I Could Turn Back Time singer repeatedly recalled clashing with producer Mark Taylor as they worked on the verses, with Taylor pushing her to deliver them differently, as per People.
Eventually, her frustration boiled over. “If you want it better, get another singer,” she told him before walking out of the studio, according to the New York Post.

The argument changed pop music. Taylor called Cher the following day and asked her to return after experimenting with a new “pitch machine” on her vocals. When she heard the altered sound, Cher said the pair immediately loved what they had created, even though neither knew yet that the song would become a massive hit.

According to Pitchfork, the dramatic vocal processing became the defining sound of ‘Believe’ and was soon nicknamed the “Cher effect.”

Its prominent use of Auto-Tune helped introduce the technology as a creative effect in mainstream pop rather than simply a behind-the-scenes tool for correcting pitch.

Charlene Tilton, 67, Is Glowing in a New Car Selfie: See the ‘Dallas’ Star Today

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:32am

Charlene Tilton, who rose to stardom on Dallas, is glowing in a new selfie.

The stunning actress, 67, is best known for her role as Lucy Ewing on the CBS drama Dallas, which began its run as the epicenter of TV drama in 1978. While some stars of the hit series, like Victoria Principal and Patrick Duffy, are frequent faces on social media, Tilton tends to fly below the radar these days. But in a rare selfie alongside Bewitched child star Erin Murphy, Tilton looks better than ever. Now that’s aging like a fine wine!

“Always fun with my dear friend, Charlene Tilton! ❤️ We’ve shared so many fun adventures over the years, and I’m happy to add the Great American Road Rally to the list! 🚗✨Any Dallas and Bewitched fans out there? ❤️,” Murphy captioned the photo, which showed the duo smiling for a selfie in the backseat of a car.

Tilton Reflected on Making Dallas

Last year, Tilton told Women’s World that she was entirely clueless when she was first cast in the iconic series.

“I was fortunate that after I got Dallas, the people I was surrounded by, such as Oscar nominee Barbara Bel-Geddes [who played Miss Ellie Ewing], Jim Davis [Jock Ewing], and Larry Hagman [J.R. Ewing] had a stellar work ethic, and I just watched them. I learned things such as you always arrive 15 minutes early,” Tilton explained.

Tilton learned from their example and became a professional in her own right.

“You come to work prepared; you know your lines, it’s an all-for-one environment, no one is a diva, no one is demanding, and you always be professional,” she shared. “That’s how I got educated. I had no idea what I was doing when I was cast in Dallas because I was 17 years old.”

If you need a flashback from the beloved series, here’s a fun scene from a season 4 episode in which Tilton’s character, Lucy, has a pool party. Who doesn’t wear high heels with their bikini these days?

Netflix Has Quietly Canceled 13 Shows After One Season in 2026 — And It's Only August!

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:30am

2026 has not been a good year for Netflix shows. While there have been a few surprise renewals, Netflix has been quick to cancel a lot of new shows. In fact, there were 13 cancellations of one-season shows.

It’s a growing issue with the streaming era. Great shows aren’t getting a chance to shine, or they’re not getting the marketing needed to give them the boost so that viewers watch them within the first weekend. The binge-release can be too much for some, or people want to see a series renewed before getting invested just to have it abruptly canceled.

We’re only looking at the shows canceled after one season, and not at those that were billed as limited series in the first place. This list covers scripted and unscripted, competition shows, animated shows, and game shows.

Scripted Shows Canceled by Netflix in 2026

When it comes to scripted content, The Abandons and The Boroughs were two of the biggest shocks. The Abandons starred Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey as two matriarchs of their families. Headey’s character wasn’t afraid to stand up against Anderson’s sneaky tyrant who wanted more land, and it set up for some intriguing plot points along the line.

Gillian Anderson as Constance Van Ness and Lena Headey as Fiona Nolan in The Abandons

However, the show was canceled due to poor viewership and high budget costs. Production conflicts may have also been an issue, but it really all comes down to the number of subscribers watching.

As for The Boroughs, fans were shocked to find out that the Duffer Brothers’ new series was axed after a season. However, despite a strong start, the viewership dropped off quickly, and the cost for the high-profile cast and production quality was too much for Netflix to justify.

There were also a few international shows swiftly canceled, with Indian’s answer to Elite, Class, being canceled. It was originally renewed for a second season, but Netflix reversed that in 2026. Bandi was a French-language original quickly canceled.

One of the biggest shocks for animated fans was the cancellation of Terminator Zero. It gained high critical praise, but the first season couldn’t pull in the audience that it needed, so it was canceled. Strip Law was another adult animation comedy that was canceled quietly after just one season.

To round out the scripted cancellations, Miss Governor didn’t manage to score a renewal. Formerly titled She the People, the Tyler Perry political comedy didn’t find its audience, and that may have been due to lack of promotion by Netflix.

Here’s a look at all of the scripted content canceled by Netflix in 2026 in list form:

  • The Abandons
  • Terminator Zero
  • MIss Governor
  • The Boroughs
  • Strip Law
  • Class
  • Bandi
Unscripted and Competition Programs Canceled in 2026

It’s not just scripted that suffered from one-and-done decisions. When it comes to unscripted content, there were some surprises and some not quite as shocking decisions from Netflix.

Selling the City was a somewhat shock, considering how well Selling the OC has performed on the streaming giant. However, the New York City-based spinoff was axed after Netflix decided to shift its reality programming to focus on Selling Sunset.

Pop The Balloon LIVE was another casualty, as Netflix looked at revamping the dating format. However, sometimes, streamers just need to stick with what is working, as this one didn’t. In the end, Netflix moved back to multiple locations for Love Is Blind and continued with The Ultimatum instead.

There was an attempt to find the next band to rival the popularity NSYNC and One Direction had back in the day. Building the Band tried to do what the title suggested, but in the end, circumstances behind-the-scenes led to its cancellation. The series was hosted by the late Liam Payne, and while the first season aired with his family’s permission and out of respect for him, Netflix decided to pivot to other reality programming.

Another attempt to find the next big thing was the rebooted Star Search, which was swiftly canceled. As audiences complained that too much time was spent on backstories and narration instead of the talent, Netflix admitted that the viewership wasn’t where it was needed for the reality program. In the end, it was canceled after just one season.

Netflix

A game show that seemed to drop and disappear was What’s In the Box?. Despite Neil Patrick Harris hosting the series, it dropped all six episodes in December 2025, and then there were crickets. Netflix eventually decided to axe the show, but there are game shows still to come, as Netflix did save Pop Culture Jeopardy! from Prime Video.

Finally, the sports documentary series F1: The Academy, which focused on the all-women racing program created by Formula 1 in 2023, came to an end after its debut season. This was a shock to some, as there had been some early camera sightings. However, Netflix decided that the cost wasn’t worth the low viewership.

The full list of unscripted cancellations in 2026 is:

  • Selling the City
  • Pop The Balloon LIVE
  • Building the Band
  • Star Search
  • What’s In the Box?
  • F1: The Academy

With four months left in 2026, there is still time for Netflix to cancel more one-season shows. Which ones are you most concerned about?

1958 One-Hit Wonder From an Italian Singer, Famously Covered by Dean Martin, Spent 5 Weeks at No. 1

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:26am

“Nel blu, dipinto di blu” was released by Domenico Modugno in 1958. The song spent five weeks in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. It then went on to be named the number one single of the year by Billboard magazine. The song also won two awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year during the 1st Annual Grammy Awards.

The song title, “Nel blu, dipinto di blu,” translates to “The Blue (Sky), Painted in Blue.” The song is also frequently referred to as “Volare,” which means “to fly.” Modugno first performed the song at the Sanremo Song Festival in Italy, where he won the first prize. The song also represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and came in third place.

The lyrics to the song were written by Modugno and Franco Migliacci. According to Aussie Vision, “The inspiration for the song came from Migliacci and his combined memories of two Marc Chagall paintings and himself painted blue with the ability to fly. As the story goes, Migliacci and Modugno had planned a trip to the beach together. While Migliacci was waiting for Modugno, Migliacci was drinking wine and then fell asleep. When he woke up, he found himself staring at two reproductions of Marc Chagall paintings, one of which was ‘Le coq rouge’, pictured above. Suddenly, the lyrics about a man who dreams of being blue while flying in the sky just came to him.”

The song has been translated into several different languages since its release. Over 100 different versions of the song were created around the world. Dean Martin released one of the more popular versions, where he alternates between singing the original Italian lyrics and English lyrics.

Despite the song’s popularity, it was Modugno’s only hit in the United States. However, he released many popular songs in Italy, including “Piove (Ciao ciao bambina),” “Dio, come ti amo,” and “Vecchio frac.”

Modugno died of a heart attack in 1994. He was 66.

Belinda Carlisle Just Turned 68—and Her Latest Photo Has Fans Doing a Double Take

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:19am

Belinda Carlisle looks better than ever at 68 in a new photo shared on her Instagram.

Carlisle and The Go-Go’s smashed onto the scene with hits like “We Got the Beat” and “Vacation.” She later had a successful solo career with hits like “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You,” and is still touring like crazy. Carlisle released her new album, “Once Upon a Time in California,” last August. But in a new photo shared to her Instagram page, Carlisle made it clear that she’s basically aging in reverse. Thanking fans and followers for wishing her a happy birthday, Carlisle is glowing. Wearing a crisp white Oxford shirt with a smile on her face, the music maven looks ageless.

“Thank you all for my birthday love… it was truly a beautiful day with my family- @morganmason1955 and my boy @jamesdukemason at @ciprianimexicocity. Here’s to another year🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷,” she captioned the photo.

Struggling With Addiction

While Carlisle is doing great these days, it wasn’t always the case. In addition to struggling with imposter syndrome as a young singer, Carlisle struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. Looking back, the singer told Rolling Stone Australia this fall that she’s grateful there was no social media during the time she was struggling so prominently.

“I would’ve been the Lindsay Lohan of my time!” she said. “Oh my God, yeah. And even when everybody had a cell phone, they didn’t have a camera yet. So that would’ve been the end of me, that’s for sure. Jesus! We were really lucky. None of that was around, so you could behave badly and chances were that no one ever heard about it.”

Finding Peace in Sobriety

After years of relapse, Carlisle ultimately found sobriety. She opened up in a recent interview with The Sunday Times about her lengthy journey.

“I thought, I’ll just drink wine, and I won’t do coke. I realized that in order to continue with my career — which was in the toilet — the most important thing was to get sober. I remember playing this little club in Northampton at the end of my drinking and using. There were 12 people in the audience, and my

dressing room was a closet for cleaning materials, mops, and brooms. I thought, Wow. I was able to turn things around, but I wouldn’t have been able to if I had been behaving in the way I was before I got sober,” she recalled.

These days, things look a lot different for Carlisle.

“I get up at 3:30 am. Then I chant for 40 minutes. I love chanting. It’s not airy-fairy; it’s scientific,” she explained.

No matter whether she’s chanting or singing, Carlisle still knows how to rock. Here’s a throwback from one of her most legendary tunes:

American Airlines Is Finally Fixing One of the Worst Parts of Flying Economy

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:10am

If you’ve spent the last few years trying to prop your phone up against a tray table on an American Airlines flight just to watch a movie, your travel days are about to get a lot easier.

In a major shift for domestic air travel, American Airlines has officially announced a massive, fleetwide transformation across its narrowbody aircraft: installing state-of-the-art 4K seatback entertainment screens at every single seat and significantly expanding its most spacious seating options.

The multi-year overhaul marks a welcome reversal of the carrier’s previous “bring-your-own-device” cabin strategy, putting individual inflight screens back within arm’s reach on domestic routes and short-haul getaways.

“We’re making one of the most significant investments in the onboard experience in our history,” said American’s Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden. “From next-generation seatback entertainment at every seat to substantially more premium seating options, these enhancements will give our customers more ways to relax, stay connected and enjoy their journey.”

4K Screens, Bluetooth Audio, and Starlink at 35,000 Feet

American Airlines

Starting in 2028, every newly delivered Airbus and Boeing aircraft joining American’s fleet—alongside retrofitted planes already flying—will come equipped with large-format 4K displays at every seat.

These displays are set to be among the largest screens offered on narrowbody aircraft in North America, featuring Bluetooth audio connectivity so you can pair your own wireless AirPods or noise-canceling headphones without messing with tangled adapter cords. Seats will also feature USB-C fast-charging ports, tailored movie and TV recommendations, and interactive flight maps packed with live destination insights. Full fleet rollout is expected to wrap up by early next decade.

The new screens complement American’s upcoming high-speed connectivity push, which will bring SpaceX’s ultra-fast Starlink Wi-Fi to narrowbody planes beginning in 2027.

More Extra Legroom and First Class Upgrades

Beyond entertainment, American is reshaping the entire geometry of its main cabin. Premium and extra-legroom seats currently make up about 25% of the airline’s narrowbody departures; in the coming years, that number will surge to approximately 40%.

For economy travelers, this means a major expansion of Main Cabin Extra (MCE) seats across the majority of the fleet, giving more flyers access to dedicated overhead bin space, earlier boarding, complimentary drinks, and precious extra inches of legroom.

Up front, the airline is adding an extra row of First Class to its Airbus A319 and A320 fleets, while incoming Boeing 737 MAX 10 deliveries will feature 24 First Class seats. Redesigned cabins will also feature refreshed interiors with expanded overhead storage, updated seating contours, and modern ambient lighting.

These cabin changes join American’s broader push to elevate the travel journey on the ground and in the air—from historic lounge investments and new grab-and-go airport markets to curated menus featuring Champagne Bollinger and Lavazza coffee.

Whether you fly weekly for business or board a plane once a year for a family vacation, your next flight on American is about to feel a lot more comfortable, connected, and relaxing.

Nancy Guthrie Update: This One Key Detail Could Help Identify the Suspect, Expert Says

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:09am

As the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance continues, an expert has pointed to one detail that could potentially help identify the person behind the ransom notes. The observation centers on subtle characteristics in the messages—details that may not mean much to the average person but could stand out to someone familiar with the writer.

In an interview with Fox News’ Mike Ruiz, retired Colorado investigator Lisa Miller explained how the quirks contained in the ransom notes could be a major clue.

“Think about if you’ve heard someone in your group, maybe outside your orbit that you just encounter that uses this strange language, or if you’re written a letter,” Miller said. “If you see something in their writing or in an email where they’re using these comma splicings, those are the things that are useful to ask people to look for.”

Miller highlighted some of the areas that she feels could be giveaways.

“We’re seeing also some open compounds through the notes,” she told Ruiz. “We see ‘heart related,’ that should be hyphenated by most people when they write that. We see smartwatch written as two words. Most people write that as one. Floodlight, we see that written as [two] words. So that is a continuity that we’re seeing between the two.”

In addition to potentially identifying the note sender, Miller says that she believes that the fact that these inconsistencies were present in both of the notes could suggest they had the same author.

Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Feb. 1.

In a recent update, Attorney General Todd Blanche explained why the FBI hasn’t taken over the case.

“We are working as hard as we can with the state and local law enforcement in every area, and that means not only providing assistance with manpower, but any sort of forensic assistance,” Blanche told NBC News’ Meet the Press. “And so we’re going to continue to do that. Whether we come in with sharp elbows and take it over, that’s not necessarily the right thing to do for her or for anybody, but making sure that it’s done right and making sure that this investigation is being conducted the way that it should be is something that we’re doing.”

Law enforcement and the Guthrie family have encouraged anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information about the Guthrie case is asked to call Tucson’s 88-Crime hotline at 1-520-882-7463 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Hayden Panettiere’s Remains Ready for Release to Family After Death at 36

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 9:03am

Hayden Panettiere’s family has been notified by the South Carolina coroner’s office that the actress’s body is ready for release following her tragic death at the age of 36, TMZ reports.

A representative for the Greenville County Coroner’s Office told the outlet that they have “advised Hayden’s parents that her body is ready to be turned over to them,” but the family has yet to “choose a funeral home.”

“Once the family picks a funeral home, then Hayden’s remains will be officially turned over to them, according to the rep,” the outlet further details.

Now that the autopsy is complete, the coroner is also conducting toxicology tests, as the cause and manner of death are still pending. The representative told TMZ that these tests take between 8 and 12 weeks to complete. The office is testing for alcohol, medications, and illicit and non-illicit drugs.

Panettiere was found dead on Sunday, Aug. 16, in a Greenville, South Carolina, residence by a friend who called 911 and reported an “unresponsive female” in “cardiac arrest.” First responders administered CPR to the actress, and TMZ also reported that Narcan was found in the apartment. She was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” her father, Skip Panettiere, told ABC News on Sunday. “She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”

He also asked for privacy at this time “as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.”

Panettiere is best known for her roles in numerous different projects, including  “Heroes,” the musical drama “Nashville,” “Remember the Titans,” “Raising Helen,” “Ice Princess,” and “Scream 4.” She also released a memoir earlier this year titled “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” where she talked about her struggles with postpartum depression, addiction and recovery, trauma, domestic abuse, and loss.

Dave Davies Gives New Hope for a Kinks Reunion With Ray After Decades Apart

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 8:58am

Dave Davies knows a thing or two about complicated relationships between rock-star brothers.

The Kinks guitarist recently reflected on Oasis’ Liam and Noel Gallagher, and he revealed that he wasn’t surprised when the famously feuding brothers eventually reunited.

Davies, 79, whose own relationship with his brother and Kinks bandmate Ray Davies has been famously complicated, said he had predicted the Gallagher brothers would eventually put their differences aside. Oasis split in 2009 after Noel left the band, but Liam and Noel reunited in 2024 and embarked on their first tour together in 16 years in 2025.

“I love the Gallagher brothers,” Dave said in a recent interview with The i Paper. He noted that the brothers’ differences are part of what makes them so intriguing, calling their dynamic “very endearing.”

When the conversation turned to Oasis’ song “Acquiesce,” which centers on the idea that the brothers need each other, Dave saw an obvious parallel with his own relationship with Ray.

“Yeah, that’s exactly right. That’s very much like me and Ray,” he said.

Dave recalled hearing about Oasis’ split in 2009 and laughing because he expected the brothers would eventually find their way back to each other.

“I remember laughing, thinking, ‘You wait, you wait—you’ll go back!'” he said.

His prediction proved correct more than a decade later.

But there’s another reason Dave understands the Oasis story so well: The Kinks have faced reunion questions of their own for decades.

The Kinks ended their original run in 1997, but rumors of a reunion have persisted. The guitarist was asked about the possibility again recently, and he didn’t completely rule it out.

“Never say never,” he said, explaining that he and Ray still talk every couple of months, usually about their shared love of Arsenal soccer.

For now, that may be as close as fans get to another Kinks reunion. But if Dave’s prediction about Oasis is any indication, he clearly knows better than most that sibling feuds don’t always have the final word.

1998 Movie Soundtrack Song, Which Never Hit No. 1, Is a Top 10 Billboard Streaming Smash 28 Years Later

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 8:55am

Back in 1998, you couldn’t turn on a radio without hearing a hit movie soundtrack song that became an instant cultural milestone, defining an entire era of late-’90s alt-rock and leaving an indelible mark on pop culture.

Written for the Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan romantic drama City of Angels, the Goo Goo Dolls‘ sweeping ballad “Iris” instantly defined an era. However, despite the song’s popularity and endurance, 28 years later, it has never hit No. 1.

Today, “Iris” is outperforming some of today’s biggest rock releases and has surged its way back into the Billboard Top 10 Rock Streaming Songs. “Iris” ranks at No. 9 on the list among other hits such as Tame Impala’s “Loser,” The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside,” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams.”

The song became an integral part of the megahit film City of Angels, which debuted at No. 1 at the box office, beating films including Lost in Space ($13.6 million), Titanic ($8.7 million), and Species II, reported The Los Angeles Times. Inspired by the 1987 German classic Wings of Desire, the romantic drama follows Seth (Cage), an angel who falls deeply in love with a brilliant, down-to-earth heart surgeon named Maggie (Ryan).

The song’s composer, Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rzeznik, explained the origins of “Iris” to Songwriting Magazine. He recalled writing the track while sitting in a dark hotel room on Sunset Boulevard in California.

“The inspiration came from a guy called Danny Bramson, who was a music supervisor at Warner Music. He called my manager, and he said, ‘I think Johnny can write a good song for this movie called City Of Angels.’ I found out that it was a remake of Wings of Desire, so I went back to watch that film,” he explained.

“I was going through a divorce at the time, and I was living in a hotel in Los Angeles. It was just a really intense and emotional time. I asked myself about what I would have said to this girl, had I been this guy. How would I have explained what I was feeling?” Rzeznik continued.

“I was thinking to myself, this guy will give up his immortality just to feel all the horrible things that human beings feel, just to feel human. I actually know a ton of people who would do the opposite, so they didn’t have to feel. That was the moment I knew what I would say to this person,” the songwriter concluded.

The song was originally released 28 years ago and debuted at its peak chart position, No. 9, on December 5, 1998. Some of the songs ahead of “Iris” on the Billboard Hot 100 were “I’m Your Angel” by R. Kelly and Celine Dion at No. 1, “Doo Wop” by Lauryn Hill at No. 4, and “From This Moment On” by Shania Twain at No. 5.

In 2025, The Wall Street Journal reported that “Iris,” by The Goo Goo Dolls was ranked at No. 25 on the Spotify Top 50 Global Chart. Today, it’s positioned higher at No. 19 and has over 2 billion Spotify streams.

John Rzeznik reflected on the song’s longevity to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He explained, “You can’t do that twice. That song was such an anomaly. You still go out and play all your other songs, and people love those but ‘Iris’ is a unicorn in that respect.”

1973 No. 1 Hit Song, Performed by the Legendary Diana Ross, Was ‘Draining’ To Record

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 8:49am

The legendary Diana Ross released the R&B song “Touch Me in the Morning” in 1973. The song was a hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was her second number one song as a solo artist, after “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” It was also her first No. 1 Adult Contemporary hit.

Ron Miller wrote the song “Touch Me in the Morning.” When speaking about the lyrics, he said, “I had already dreamed up this title, ‘Touch Me in the Morning,’ but I didn’t have the vaguest idea what it meant … So I analyzed Diane as a person. I said, ‘Well, this girl is out on her own now. She’s an adult and a movie star. She’s also a contemporary woman and … much more liberal about expressing her sexual values. Whereas once upon a time, only a man could say something like that, now a liberated woman like Diane could. However, though she’s ostensibly a sophisticated woman, she’s still crying inside to be touched in the morning.’ It was just a very cold, calculated and wonderful job of crafting.”

Michael Masser, who produced the song, revealed that Ross tried very hard to get the vocals right and recorded several different takes. He called the process a “draining experience,” according to SongFacts.

“Touch Me in the Morning” was used in an episode of The Sopranos and the 1996 movie Phenomenon with John Travolta. It has also been covered by several artists, such as Andy Williams and Marlena Shaw.

Ross had many other hits throughout her illustrious career, including “I’m Coming Out,” “Endless Love,” “Love Hangover,” and “Upside Down.” She has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Supremes. The band also had several memorable hits, including “Baby Love,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “Where Did Our Love Go,” and “Someday We’ll Be Together.”

Ross is currently 82. She is still actively touring and performing her music for fans across the country.

Macy’s Tanzanite Bracelet Has Old Hollywood Sparkle Without the 4-Figure Price

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 8:30am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you’ve been waiting for a fine-jewelry deal that looks as impressive as the discount, this one knocks more than $700 off a colorful classic. Macy’s 6-Carat Tanzanite Tennis Bracelet is currently on sale for just $360, down from $1,149. It features a continuous row of oval-cut violet-blue gemstones in one sterling silver finish. The bracelet measures 7 inches long, giving it the traditional proportions of a tennis bracelet with a much more vibrant appearance.

The bracelet has a total of 6 carats of tanzanite, with each stone set in its own silver setting. It includes a box-lock clasp that blends into the line of gems and helps keep the bracelet secured around the wrist. As an added bonus, Macy’s also offers complimentary jewelry cleaning at participating stores, although the service doesn’t include repairs.

What makes this bracelet especially unique is tanzanite’s unusually specific origin story. According to the Gemological Institute of America, the gemstone is only commercially mined in the Merelani Hills of northern Tanzania, unlike many stones that come from several regions around the world. Tanzanite is also very pleochroic, which means it can reveal different blue, violet, and purple tones as the bracelet moves and catches the light from different angles.

One reviewer called the bracelet “gorgeous” and said it was “just what I wanted.” The same buyer noted that it runs large, which is helpful since the bracelet comes in only one length. Measuring your wrist before ordering can give you a better idea of how loosely the 7-inch design may sit. Just keep in mind that Macy’s doesn’t accept returns on jewelry once it’s been altered.

If you plan on cleaning the bracelet yourself, the Gemological Institute of America recommends using warm, soapy water and avoiding ultrasonic or steam cleaners. Taking it off before exercising, cleaning, or completing hands-on chores can also reduce unnecessary contact with hard surfaces, which is worth keeping in mind if you plan to wear the bracelet regularly.

Hayden Panettiere’s Boyfriend Suffered Major Legal Setback in DV Case Just 3 Days Before Her Death

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 8:29am

Brian Hickerson suffered another legal setback involving his past domestic violence convictions just days before the death of his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Hayden Panettiere.

On August 13, a judge denied Hickerson’s requests to have two felony convictions reduced to misdemeanors and expunged, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to Page Six. The ruling came three days before Panettiere died at age 36.

Hickerson pleaded no contest in April 2021 to two felony counts of injuring a spouse or girlfriend stemming from incidents involving Panettiere between May 2019 and January 2020. He was sentenced to 45 days in county jail, four years of probation, 52 domestic violence classes, and a five-year restraining order.

According to the outlet, Hickerson had completed his probation requirements but had previously been denied a similar request in July 2025.

Who is Brian Hickerson?

Hickerson and Panettiere began dating in 2018 and continued a tumultuous relationship over the following years that included multiple domestic violence incidents. Panettiere later discussed those situations in her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning.

In the book, she revealed that Hickerson tried to smash her head into a wall and “busts up her face so badly I don’t leave the house for weeks.” She also discussed the difficulty of their relationship to Us Weekly in May. “Getting an abusive person out of your life is like trying to rip a weed out that is so entangled into your life,” she revealed.

Hickerson, who grew up in South Carolina, reportedly moved to Los Angeles to pursue real estate development and acting. He has one listed acting credit, the 2017 thriller M.F.A.

How did Hayden Panettiere die?

Panettiere was found unresponsive at a South Carolina apartment complex on Sunday, August 16.

911 dispatch audio obtained by multiple outlets reportedly described the emergency as an “overdose.” First responders performed chest compressions and advanced cardiac life support, but Panettiere was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.

TMZ subsequently reported that Narcan, a medication capable of reversing an opioid overdose, was found at the scene. At this time, an official cause of death has not yet been announced.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of domestic violence, help is available 24 hours a day through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.

‘I Dream of Jeannie’ Star Barbara Eden, 94, Reveals the Surprising Role She’d Love to Play Next

Tue, 08/18/2026 - 8:21am

Barbara Eden has been an entertainment icon for more than 70 years, but she’s not done yet.

The legendary I Dream of Jeannie star, who celebrates her milestone 95th birthday on Aug. 23, recently told Entertainment Weekly that she’s still acting and would love to play a villain for her next role.

“I could be really mean,” Eden told the outlet in August 2026. “Bad Jeannie was bad, you know,” she added of her I Dream of Jeannie character’s troublemaking twin sister that sometimes popped in on the 1960s series.

From 1965 to 1970, Eden played the lovable blonde Jeannie opposite Larry Hagman’s Major Tony Nelson on I Dream of  Jeannie. Her eye blink and belly-baring harem outfit were her trademarks on the NBC fantasy sitcom.

But Eden particularly enjoyed playing Jeannie’s evil, brunette alter ego in nine episodes of the classic TV sitcom and in two later television reunion movies.

“I loved her, darling,” she said of the character during an interview on the That’s Classic!  podcast. “My favorite person in the whole wide world, that silly little twit! No, I loved playing her. My gosh, that keeps you sane, you know, doing different parts.”

In the new interview, Eden added that she would consider any part if it was written well. “I’d probably do anything. If it’s well written,” the actress told EW.

Over her long career, Eden has played everything from a dancing debutante on I Love Lucy to Elvis Presley’s love interest in the big-screen movie Flaming Star to fearless single mom, Stella Harper, in Harper Valley PTA.

She was originally surprised to be offered the role on I Dream of Jeannie because she assumed producers were looking for a leading lady with more exotic features.

“They had every tall brunette, winner of many beauty contests, they were testing,” she told People magazine in July. “I thought, ‘Oh, it’s not for me.’ The Middle Eastern girl, and that’s what they wanted. I’m a blonde, short blonde.“

The actress also revealed her reaction when she found out series creator Sidney Sheldon wanted her for the I Dream of Jeannie role. “He said, ‘You have the part,’” Eden recalled. “And I said, ‘Do they know what I look like?’”
