The rise of celebrity chefs transformed cooking from a practical household skill into a form of entertainment. Over the past several decades, food personalities became household names through television shows, cookbooks, restaurant empires, endorsement deals and social media followings. Many chefs cultivated carefully crafted public images that made them seem approachable, talented and trustworthy.

Viewers welcomed them into their homes through television screens, often developing a sense of familiarity that extended far beyond recipes and cooking techniques. As a result, these culinary stars enjoyed levels of fame that previous generations of chefs could scarcely imagine.

However, celebrity status comes with intense public scrutiny. As audiences have become increasingly aware of workplace behavior, discrimination, harassment and other forms of misconduct, the food industry has faced many of the same reckonings that have swept through Hollywood, media and corporate America.

The rise of social media and investigative journalism has made it easier for allegations to become public, while changing cultural expectations have led many fans and business partners to reevaluate who they choose to support. In some cases, allegations resulted in the loss of television contracts, sponsorships and business opportunities. In others, entire restaurant empires crumbled under the weight of scandal.

The concept of being "canceled" can mean different things to different people. Some chefs have largely disappeared from the public eye, while others have continued working despite reputational damage. Regardless of the outcome, these controversies dramatically altered careers that once seemed unstoppable, and several prominent food personalities became cautionary examples of how quickly fame can unravel when troubling behavior or serious allegations come to light.

Food Stars Canceled for Scandals

These seven celebrity chefs once thrived in the spotlight, but allegations ranging from misconduct and racism to workplace controversies damaged their reputations and led to a decline in their television careers and business influence.

1. Mario Batali

Mario Batali was one of the biggest stars on Food Network during the late 1990s and early 2000s, hosting programs such as Molto Mario, Mario Eats Italy and Ciao America. He later became a co-host on ABC's daytime talk show The Chew, which introduced him to an even broader audience. Beyond television, Batali co-owned the highly acclaimed New York restaurants Babbo, Del Posto, Lupa Osteria Romana and Esca, helping build one of the most successful restaurant groups in the country.

In December 2017, multiple women accused Batali of sexual misconduct, including unwanted touching and inappropriate behavior that allegedly occurred over many years. Following the allegations, ABC fired him from The Chew, and Food Network removed several of his programs from its lineup. Batali stepped away from operations at the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group, and by 2019 he had sold his ownership stake in the company.

The scandal effectively ended his mainstream television career and dramatically altered his standing within the culinary industry.

2. Paula Deen

Paula Deen became one of Food Network's most recognizable personalities through popular programs such as Paula's Home Cooking, Paula's Party and Paula's Best Dishes. Her Southern cooking style and friendly personality helped her build a multimillion-dollar brand that included cookbooks, kitchen products and restaurants such as The Lady & Sons in Savannah, Georgia.

Her career took a major hit in 2013 after testimony from a legal deposition became public during a workplace discrimination lawsuit. In the deposition, Deen acknowledged having used a racial slur in the past. The backlash was immediate. Food Network announced it would not renew her contract, ending her long-running relationship with the network.

Major corporate partners, including Smithfield Foods, Walmart, Target, QVC and JCPenney, also ended business relationships with her. Although Deen later returned to television through smaller networks and independent projects, she never regained the level of mainstream influence she once enjoyed.

3. Josh Besh

John Besh built a culinary empire in New Orleans through restaurants that included Restaurant August, Luke, Domenica, Borgne and Johnny Sánchez. He was also a television personality who appeared on programs such as Top Chef Masters and hosted cooking shows on public television. For years, Besh was viewed as one of the leading ambassadors of New Orleans cuisine.

In 2017, reports surfaced detailing allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct involving employees within the Besh Restaurant Group. More than two dozen current and former workers described an environment where inappropriate behavior was allegedly tolerated.

Shortly after the reports were published, Besh announced he was stepping down as CEO of the company. The organization was eventually renamed the BRG Hospitality Group in an effort to distance itself from the controversy. While some restaurants continued operating successfully, Besh's public profile declined sharply.

4. Graham Elliot

Graham Elliot rose to fame through appearances as a judge on Fox's MasterChef and MasterChef Junior alongside Gordon Ramsay and Joe Bastianich. His restaurants, including Graham Elliot Bistro and the Michelin-starred Graham Elliot, helped establish him as one of Chicago's most prominent chefs.

Unlike some chefs whose careers collapsed due to personal misconduct allegations, Elliot faced criticism tied primarily to labor and workplace issues associated with his restaurant operations. Former employees raised concerns regarding compensation and workplace practices, prompting scrutiny from critics and labor advocates.

While the controversy generated negative publicity, it did not completely derail his career. Elliot continued making television appearances and remained active in the culinary world, though the criticism affected perceptions of his business leadership.

5. Mike Isabella

Mike Isabella became famous after competing on Top Chef and later appearing on Top Chef All-Stars. He leveraged that exposure into a growing restaurant empire in the Washington, D.C., area. His ventures included Graffiato, Kapnos, G Sandwich Shop, Peppe, Yona, and several other restaurants and concepts.

In 2017, former employees filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and describing a hostile workplace environment. Additional allegations emerged in media reports, creating significant damage to Isabella's reputation. The controversy coincided with financial difficulties across several of his businesses.

By 2018 and 2019, numerous restaurants in his portfolio had closed, and his restaurant group eventually filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Isabella's public profile largely disappeared as his once-promising culinary empire unraveled.

Anne Thornton became a familiar face to Food Network viewers through her dessert-focused series Desserts by the Pound, which premiered in 2009. The show showcased indulgent baked goods and creative sweets, helping Thornton quickly build a loyal fan base. At the time, many viewers expected her to become one of the network's next breakout stars.

However, her television career was surprisingly short-lived. Desserts by the Pound lasted only two seasons, and Thornton largely disappeared from Food Network programming after 2011. One controversy that followed her involved allegations that several recipes featured on her show closely resembled recipes previously published by other well-known food personalities, including Martha Stewart and Ina Garten, with only minor modifications.

While the allegations generated discussion among food bloggers and viewers, Food Network never publicly cited recipe disputes as the reason for her departure. Because few details surrounding her exit were ever disclosed, her disappearance from the network remains one of Food Network's most enduring mysteries.

Fleeting Fame

The careers of these celebrity chefs serve as a reminder that fame can be fragile, even for some of the biggest names in food television. Whether their downfalls stemmed from misconduct allegations, workplace controversies, offensive remarks or professional disputes, each scandal reshaped public perception and altered the course of once-successful careers.

The second single from her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, serves as the record’s emotional climax, a reality check shattering the illusion that love can magically fix everything.

“Becoming increasingly aware that a ‘happy’ relationship won’t fix all your problems, as a simple muffled acoustic guitar riff simultaneously builds into a more complex, entrancing production, Rodrigo lays her heart on the line — angrily talk-singing throughout the verses before completely unravelling at the climax,” Billboard writes. 

It adds, “‘Why can’t you stitch me up? Why can’t it ever be enough?’ she begs in the song’s unforgettable bridge, coming to terms with the heart-wrenching realization — before an abrupt stop of its orchestral outro concludes her most visceral song to date.”

The song is a fun and cathartic epic from start to finish, but it’s the opener that has critics and fans salivating with nostalgia. Before Rodrigo even breaks into her raw lyrical vulnerability, the sound of a striking shift toward indie alternative rock rings out. The influence can actually be heard in the very first chords. 

“When one first hears Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘The Cure,’ … the listener might at first mistake the track for the Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong,’” AudioPhix writes. “The tempo and sonics are quite similar. But instead of the bombast that Dave Grohl and company quickly kick in, Rodrigo stays in the more melancholy moment. At least, for a minute.”

Close your eyes while listening to the acoustic intro and you’d swear you were right back in the mid-to-late '90s when Foo Fighters and Smashing Pumpkins lived on heavy rotation in your tape deck. This musical breakdown on Instagram does a really good job of pinpointing all the '80s and '90s songs Rodrigo seems to reference throughout “The Cure.” 

Released on May 22, “The Cure” debuted at No. 5 on the outlet's all-genre Hot 100, making it the singer-songwriter’s sixth Top 5 and eighth Top 10 hit—totals that include four No. 1’s by the way: “Good 4 You,” “Vampire,” “Drivers License," and “Drop Dead.” 

Over on the publication’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs surveys, the track did even better, debuting at No. 1 on both tallies and giving the artist her third leader on each chart.

Zaire Wade, the eldest son of NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, was arrested in Burbank, California, on suspicion of felony domestic violence, according to police and multiple reports.

Burbank police were called to a home around 5:30 a.m. Sunday after a report of a woman screaming. Officers said they found Wade and a woman who had lacerations on her face and body. He was booked on three charges: felony domestic violence, criminal threats and false imprisonment. A handgun was recovered from the home, and an emergency protective order was issued.

Wade was released later that day after posting $50,000 bond, per reports. The woman was not taken to a hospital. The case has been forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, which will decide whether to file formal charges. Wade has not been charged with a crime, and the allegations have not been proven in court.

Authorities have not publicly identified the woman or described her relationship to Zaire Wade. It was not immediately clear whether he had retained an attorney or when he might appear in court.

The Wade Family

Zaire is the oldest of Dwyane Wade's children. The retired Miami Heat star and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, have spoken publicly about supporting their family through the spotlight. Zaire played basketball at Sierra Canyon School and has since spent time in the G League and with teams overseas.

Neither Zaire nor Dwyane Wade had publicly addressed the arrest as of publication.

While the Rolling Stones have a long history of hits making it to the charts, one track never did and still managed to become a fan-favorite classic. "Moonlight Mile" was released in 1971 and was considered one of their underappreciated ballads that still holds up decades later.

Many may remember the band's album Sticky Fingers for their hit chart-topping track "Brown Sugar." While the band continued their history as rock n' roll legends, "Moonlight Mile" was a deviation from their usual sound with a prominent acoustic guitar and a more heartfelt story behind its lyrics.

The track was written by Mick Jagger while the Rolling Stones were on their 1970 European tour, with many of the band members feeling the strain of traveling and performing. So much so that Keith Richards was often absent from recording sessions while producing their next album. As a result, "Moonlight Mile" has the members playing other instruments to make up for it. Jagger remembers having fiddled around with the acoustic guitar riff and having a songbook of ideas, but he never thought the track would be recorded.

"I also came up with an Oriental-Indian riff on my acoustic guitar. At some point during the tour I played it for Mick Taylor, because I thought he would like it. At that point, I really hadn't intended on recording the song. Sometimes you don't want to record what you're writing. You think, 'This isn't worth recording, this is just my doodling,'" he said, according to SongFacts.

The European tour proved to be a rough time for the band, with Jagger reportedly being affected by fatigue and a feeling of loneliness. "Moonlight Mile" lyrics focus on the emotional alienation that takes place while on the road. Many critics called it a "rare example" of the music icon letting go of his rocker image to showcase the reality of life in the spotlight. The track was later misinterpreted by some as a "cocaine song" due to its lyrics in the first stanza.

"The feeling I had at that moment was how difficult it was to be touring and how I wasn’t looking forward to going out and doing it again. It’s a very lonely thing, and my lyrics reflected that," explained Jagger, according to The Wall Street Journal.

"Moonlight Mile" was recorded during an all-nighter between Jagger and Mick Taylor, with them having reworked an old guitar piece into the track. The song never charted on the Billboard charts as it was never released as a single, with Sticky Fingers spending four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Nearly every pop song in the 2000s was written or offered to Britney Spears, and this one was no different.

Tricky Stewart, the track’s producer, revealed back in 2008 that the song 'Umbrella' was originally composed with Britney Spears in mind. The pop icon declined the song made famous by Rihanna as she already had tracks lined up for her album, Blackout.

“Her current state was a little bizarre, you know?” the co-writer, Trick Stewart, told MTV News at the time. “It wasn’t meant to be.” 

Then, the track was sent to Mary J. Blige and LA Reid, CEO of Island Def Jam, Rihanna’s label. But Blige's schedule was too busy with the Grammys; she never fully got the chance to listen to the track. Blige's team bid on the song, but they couldn’t finalize the deal without her permission, so it never worked out.

In 2020, Blige addressed the song on an episode of WWHL. Per Elle, when Andy Cohen asked the singer why she turned down 'Umbrella', she had an in-depth answer.

"It was during Grammy time for me, it was a big Grammy time. I was nominated for eight Grammys and I was trying to get myself together for that. And during that time, that’s when ‘Umbrella’ came to me and I couldn’t do anything with it because I was so busy with my own life and I was like, you know what? It doesn't even sound like me anyway," she said.

In hindsight, Blige isn't angry or bitter about turning the song down; in fact, she thinks she made a good call. "Everything about that song was so tailor-made for Rihanna and nothing about that song was Mary J. Blige," she added.

Ultimately, Island Def Jam bought the song for Rihanna, believing it could boost her career. Released in March 2007, it topped the charts in 19 countries, and was one of the highest digital debuts in the United States at the time.

'Umbrella' was written by Terius “The-Dream” Nash and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart.  In 2004, the pair teamed up for the hit Britney Spears and Madonna duet 'Me Against the Music.' In 2007, they paired up once more to make 'Umbrella', which continues to be one of the most recognisable pop songs of the 21st century.

“At first I was thinking about God,” Nash told Blender back in 2007. “Like, God would say, ‘I’ve got you under my umbrella. I’ll protect you.’"

When it comes to showcasing a love for the country music genre and everything that comes with it, no one does that better than Barbara Mandrell.

In fact, long before Lainey Wilson was belting out her uptempo “Country’s Cool Again” single, Mandrell was reflecting on her childhood Texas roots with a nostalgic walk down memory lane in the western-influenced classic, “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool.”

Written by Kye Fleming and Dennis Morgan and produced by Tom Collins, the track finds Mandrell looking back at her youth and recalling the clothes she wore as a kid and the music she listened to. From flannel shirts and Levi’s to singing along to the Grand Ole Opry stars and George Jones, Mandrell remembers embracing the country way of life before others jumped on board. 

Throughout the song, Mandrell showcases her authentic pride and unwavering support for the genre that rose in popularity around the time of the song’s release, thanks in part to the success of the film Urban Cowboy.  

The meaning behind the song was drawn from real-life experiences during Mandrell’s childhood as she was “teased” for having been a fan of country music. 

“(Kye) and Dennis wrote it after a visit we had had about my early years as a little grade schooler in California,” Mandrell told CMT, according to American Songwriter. “I was doing live television on a Saturday night and going back to school on Monday morning and being teased about … that hillbilly music. Just things of that nature, little stories.”

Sonically, “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool” features a toe-tapping beat with harmonica and pedal/steel as Mandrell showcases her smooth, velvety vocals over the laid-back country melody. At one point, listeners can hear the uncredited guest vocals of Jones singing the catchy hook of the song before an eruption of cheers can be heard at the end of the original recording of the track, which was intentionally made to sound like a live performance. 

Of note, an actual live version of the track exists and was recorded at the Roy Acuff Theater of Opryland in Nashville, Tenn.

For Mandrell, “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool” brought her superstardom to new heights. The song played a role in helping her earn the title of CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1981. Today, the song still resonates with listeners as it made the coveted fan-voted list of the Grand Ole Opry’s ‘100 Greatest Country Songs of All Time’ in 2025. 

Released on April 16, 1981, as the lead single on Barbara Mandrell Live, “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool” soared to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in the summer of that same year. Aside from the tune becoming Mandrell’s signature hit, the singer is known for songs like “Sleeping Single in a Double Bed,” “(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don’t Want to be Right,” and others.

Known for her New York accent and witty humor, Joan Rivers is remembered as a legendary comedian.

Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, took to Instagram on June 25 to clear a long-standing question about her mother.

“A lot of people ask me where the name Rivers comes from. And I'm going to tell you the true and official story,” Melissa said.

She was Joan and film producer Edgar Rosenberg's only child. Her parents were married from 1965 to 1987. 

Born Joan Alexandra Molinsky, Melissa admitted that “We're not really sure,” why Joan chose Rivers. Adding, her mother once told her, “It was the last name of one of her managers, or that one of her managers suggested it. And it just sounded good and stuck. So, there's the big story.”

Joan told a similar narrative to the Television Academy in 2007.

“I changed it to Joan Rivers because I wanted to be an actress,” she said.

While her friends would spend “hours” coming up with new names. They would say, “Should I be Lily? Louise? Or shall I be Rose?” 

Picking out a new name was a bit easier for the late icon.

“I thought, ‘Just get me some work, I'll change my name,'” the comedian shared. “The first agent that sent me out was a man named Larry Rivers, and I said, ‘Okay, I'm Joan Rivers.' ”

It didn’t quite pan out as she hoped. She explained her choice, “got him so scared he never sent me out again.”

Joan died in 2014 at the age of 81. Although known for her comedy, she was a writer, actor, host, director, and stand-up comedian. She got her start on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and became a regular guest host in the 1980s.

Joan earned an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Tony Award nomination through her renowned career.

The "Ever Seen" singer revealed that she will be going on her first stadium tour this fall around the United States, Canada and Europe, performing at multiple iconic venues, including Madison Square Garden in New York City, Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the O2 in London and more. beabadoobee, born Beatrice Kristi Laus, will kick off The Powerlines Tour in Indianapolis this August, before officially hitting the stadiums on Oct 1.

Supporting acts include WISP in the US and Canada shows, while Violet Grohl, the daughter of Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, will be opening the UK and European shows in November and December.

The Powerlines Tour will be supporting her fourth studio album, Pylon, which she also announced on Wednesday, and will be released on Sept. 18. The lead single, "Sun Has Set," is out now on all streaming platforms.

Pylon comes two years after This Is How Tomorrow Moves, which became her first album that peaked the UK Albums Chart. The record includes the songs "Take a Bite" and "Real Man," the latter of which went viral on TikTok.

beabadoobee started her career in 2017 when she released her debut single "Coffee," which got the attention of independent record label Dirty Hit Records. After putting out multiple EPs, she released her debut album, Fake It Flowers, in 2020. Then her follow-up record, Beatopia, put out two years later, spawned her breakout hit, "the perfect pair." In addition, beabadoobee was the supporting act for many bands and artists, including The 1975, Clairo, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift, from their tours that took place from 2019 to 2023.

After spending most of 2025 on the road to support her third album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, beabadoobee is finally releasing new music for her fans. Despite her successful career, the Filipina-British artist spoke with Dazed earlier this year and told the publication that Pylon is "still pretty sad."

"It’s about accepting the sad times and understanding that you have to feel every single [explicit] feeling," beabadoobee said. "Happiness, sadness, anger – all of it."

Former Queer Eyestar Tan France revealed he wasn't all that fond of his castmate,Antoni Porowski, at the start of their journey together on the show's first season, which premiered in 2018.

During a June 2026 episode of actorJesse Tyler Ferguson's podcast, Dinner's on Me, France said he wasn't sure about Porowski's kindness. He clarified that he and Porowski are now "very, very close" friends.

When Ferguson asked France to clarify why he didn't trust or like Porowski, he shared that he was unsure about the Queer Eye's food and wine expert's disinterest in gossip.

"I thought he was too nice. And after work, I need someone to talk to to gossip with and say, 'Did you hear what that b---h said to me today?' Like, 'Can you believe that happened?' And I need them to say, 'Yeah, I did hear it!'" said France.

France then shared he let Porowski know he didn't think they could have a genuine friendship because of this difference in personality. According to the famed stylist, Porowski replied that he had been holding his tongue because he thought France didn't want him to speak negatively about others.

"He dropped that very quickly and that was when I said, 'I don't think you and I are going to be friends. And that's such a shame,'" recalled France during the podcast interview. "I'm very forthright, I will just say what I'm thinking. And I know it's not a positive for most people, but I think it's a very English trait that I'm just going to say the thing and we can get it done. And he was like, 'Oh, no. I'm dying to gossip. I thought that you were too nice!'"

France said that following the conversation, he and Porowski became each other's confidants.

"We had just this one evening together, which was magical and changed my life. It was like two and a half, three weeks into Queer Eye. And I was like, 'Oh, thank god.' I just needed someone to talk to 'cause I was really struggling, really struggling with being on TV or being on camera," said France.

Tan France Opened up About the Legacy of 'Queer Eye'

After 10 seasons, Netflix's Queer Eye came to an end in early 2026. In an April 2026 interview with PRIDE, France, who was the show's fashion expert, said he was immensely proud of the legacy of the series, which also starred Jonathan van Ness, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, and Jeremiah Brent, who took on Berk's role for seasons 9 and 10.

"I can't believe what we did with those nine years. I feel so proud of those 10 seasons. So proud," said France during the interview.

He also said he believed he and his castmates had a positive impact by representing the LGBTQIA+ community on a popular television series.

"We got straight folks all over the world viewing us in a very different light and accepting us into their hearts, homes, families. And if that's all we're left with, that's all that matters to me," said France while speaking to PRIDE.

When it first hit the airwaves in April 1966, that energy translated into instant success. The Troggs’ garage-rock staple enjoyed an impressive run on the Billboard Hot 100, soaring to the No. 1 spot and cementing itself the very best song of summer in 1966. And even though the track sounded like the newest, cutting-edge tune on the radio, The Troggs’ recording was actually a cover.

The song’s origins stretch back a step further. Written by late songwriting legend Chip Taylor (uncle to Angelina Jolie and brother to Jon Voight), “Wild Thing” began its life a year before as a commissioned rock tune for a group called The Wild Ones. 

Unfortunately, the discotheque house band’s version flopped. Finding new life, the track made its way to producer Larry Page and the up-and-coming Troggs, who added their own fuzz-toned signature to it and turned it into a No. 1 hit. Recorded in the spring of 1966 at the Regent Sound Studio in London, the song was done and dusted in a single take.

“I treat all my songs seriously,” Taylor told Classic Rock of the track’s unapologetic simplicity. “There was an honesty to the song. Sure, when you break it down there’s not a lot to it. But when I was writing it, I was treating it as the most serious thing in the universe.”

That simplicity is exactly what gave the track its staying power. The Troggs’ slow and sweaty rendition of the song caught the attention of fellow music legends who couldn’t wait to put their own spins on the three-chord track. 

In addition to a primal Jimi Hendrix performance of the song at the 1967Monterey Pop Festival, covers from Fancy, Sam Kinison, X, Prince, Warren Zevon, and even BruceSpringsteen flooded the airwaves.

“When I first heard it, I thought if this was done by a group with a lot of b-lls into it, then this could be a hit. And it was,” Troggs’ lead singer, Reg Presley, told Classic Bands.

At the center of it all is Presley’s snarl—an unmistakable vocal that channels pure youth rebellion. Paired with Taylor’s suggestive, stripped-down lyrics, the performance captures a raw energy that still feels provocative today. 

Speaking to how he conjured up such lyrics for a song, Taylor told Ultimate Classic Rock, "It was just me closing my eyes and imagining I was with some sexy girl that I wanted to talk to. She was kinda mesmerized and I was trying to mesmerize her some more.”

That's the kind of stuff that makes our heart sing.

Caitlin Clark is at the center of another WNBA firestorm, and this time the league, a former pro and a wave of furious fans all weighed in.

The Phoenix Mercury's Alyssa Thomas was suspended one game and hit with a Flagrant 2 foul for making contact with Clark's throat during Wednesday night's game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The play happened with 6:52 left in the second quarter, when Thomas and Clark scrambled for a loose ball and Thomas's fist landed on the Indiana Fever guard's throat. No foul was called in real time. The WNBA later upgraded the contact to a Flagrant 2, calling it a non-basketball act, and handed Thomas the first suspension of her 13-year career.

She serves it Saturday against the Toronto Tempo.

A No-Call That Set Fans Off

Fever coach Stephanie White ripped the missed call, telling reporters it was "absolutely egregious and utterly disrespectful." Former WNBA player Stacey Dales went further on X, calling the play "pathetic" and urging the league to act. Fans piled on, with one Instagram commenter blasting Thomas for "poor sportsmanship" and others demanding a longer ban. It marked the second time the league upgraded a foul against Clark after a post-game review this season.

The Mercury won 111-109, but the result was an afterthought online, where Clark, who had already drawn viral attention this season, became the story all over again. White made clear her bigger frustration was that officials missed the contact live, not that the league corrected it afterward.

What Happens Next

Clark finished with 19 points and eight assists in 20 minutes before leaving in the third quarter with a back issue. The Fever ruled Caitlin Clark out for Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Sparks, and she is not eligible to return until July 5 against the Las Vegas Aces. Neither Thomas nor the Mercury has commented.

Doug Goldstein, the longtime former manager of Guns N' Roses, has died at 65.

Goldstein's death was confirmed by the Appetite for Distortion podcast, and a cause of death was not immediately shared.

Goldstein was best known for working with Guns N' Roses during one of the most chaotic and successful periods in the band's history. He became involved with the band while they were promoting Appetite for Destruction, first working as a tour manager before later becoming co-manager alongside Alan Niven.

Before his work with Guns N' Roses, Goldstein had reportedly worked security for major rock acts including Van Halen, Heart and Black Sabbath. That background helped prepare him for the unusually demanding role of keeping one of rock's most unpredictable bands moving forward.

"Doug was much more than a former Guns N' Roses manager," Appetite for Distortion host Brandon Weissler told Ultimate Classic Rock. He described Goldstein as a "friendly ear" and "supportive voice," adding that he cared deeply about his friends, family and Guns N' Roses fans.

Goldstein's time with the band came during a defining era. Guns N' Roses formed in 1985 and became one of the biggest rock bands of the late 1980s after releasing Appetite for Destruction in 1987. The album produced classics including "Welcome to the Jungle," "Paradise City" and "Sweet Child o' Mine," helping turn the group into a major force in hard rock.

As the band's fame grew, Goldstein took on more responsibility inside the Guns N' Roses camp. He became especially close with frontman Axl Rose, remaining involved as the classic lineup began to fall apart and Rose continued work on Chinese Democracy.

Goldstein was often involved in some of the band's most turbulent moments, including the massive Use Your Illusion era and the internal strain that followed. Still, he later claimed that his loyalty came from genuine care, particularly for Rose.

In a reflection from Mick Wall's book Last of the Giants: The True Story of Guns N' Roses, Goldstein told Wall that his dedication to Rose had "zero to do with the money" and everything to do with the fact that he loved him.

Goldstein eventually retired in 2003, years before Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan reunited for the band's highly successful later tours. Looking back on that reunion period, Goldstein credited the band's current management for accomplishing something he said he could not.

His death marks the loss of a behind-the-scenes figure who helped guide Guns N' Roses through fame, conflict and some of the most memorable years in the band's career.

Paul Quinn, the founding guitarist of the beloved '70s rock band Saxon, has announced that he is heading on the road this fall for a short U.K. tour. The guitar legend shared the news on Wednesday via Instagram, providing a brief overview of what concert-goers can expect.

The six-date trek will take place across England, commencing on October 25 in Bristol at The Thunderbolt and concluding on October 30 in Preston at The Ferret. Joining the guitarist will be fellow Cards vocalist and bassist Harrison Young, who will serve as a moderator. The rock and roll band Adam and the Hellcats will also join the run as the opening act.

As a primary force behind the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Quinn's distinctive riffs helped define Saxon's signature sound on classic tracks such as "Wheels of Steel" and "Denim and Leather." Toni Collette Said She Didn't Want to Star in Any More 'Heavy' Movies Before 'Hereditary'

In a 2018 interview with NowThis Impact, Collette said she wanted to take a break from emotionally devastating movies before she came across Aster's Hereditary script.

A bright, jangly love hit, “Friday I’m in Love” became one of the band's biggest crossover hits and remains their signature anthem for many casual fans. Released in the summer of 1992, the track was featured on The Cure’s ninth studio album, Wish. It peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100and spent four weeks on the Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Belting the song out in front of a crowd of more than 50,000, per the BBC, The Cure also worked their way through a classics-filled set that included "Pictures of You” and “The Lovecats.” As the closing headliner of the legendary four-day Isle of Wight Festival, held annually at Seaclose Park in Newport, England, the band capped off the old-out event with one classic hit after another.

"If I don't talk, we can play another song," Smith joked before diving into “Boys Don't Cry.”

The fest, which included sets from The Kooks, The Last Dinner Party, Shed Seven, Rose Gray, David Gray, The Twilight Sad, Level 42, and Suzanne Vega, culminated in fireworks over the park, per Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

The Cure are in the midst of a massive year. After winning two Grammys in February--Best Alternative Music Album for Songs of a Lost World and Best Alternative Music Performance for “Alone”--they kicked off a summer festival and outdoor headline tour across Europe in support of their latest album.
