"This is very exciting, I have a big announcement to make," Fallon said on the show. "We've been developing Wordle as a game show for the past two and a half years with The New York Times, and it's official—we are making Wordle Game Show with our host, Savannah Guthrie!"

To that, Guthrie shared, "We've been holding this secret between us for a long time now. And we're going to make Wordle a game show."

Wordle will see contestants competing for money as they play the game, inspired by the popular New York Times daily word puzzle. Although a premiere date has not yet been announced, filming for the show will begin this summer, per Today.com.

On Today, Guthrie also took the opportunity to share a heartfelt thanks to Fallon and the rest of the production team for pausing after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, was abducted from her Tucson, Ariz., home on Feb. 1.

"When everything happened with me and my family, they just stopped everything and said, 'We'll wait for you,'" she explained. Guthrie then turned to Fallon, adding, "And Hollywood is, like, a really tough business, as you know. And I didn't expect that. And I just want to say thank you. It means so much to me."

To that, Fallon pointed out, "We can't do it without you... You are fantastic. You were so good. You're funny."

NBC Officially Cancels 'On Brand with Jimmy Fallon' TV Series

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:36am

Audiences might adore Jimmy Fallon for his fun-loving style of improvisational comedy, but the late talk show's host comedic antics unfortunately haven't prevented his latest TV series from cancelation at NBC.

According to Deadline, the network has officially decided to ax Fallon's new show, On Brand with Jimmy Fallon, after a mere season.

Created, hosted and executively produced by The Tonight Show host, On Brand followed Fallon as he put together a marketing agency and attempted to fill it with "the most creative, clever, and competitive go-getters he can find."

Joining Fallon on-screen was formerReal Housewives of Beverly Hillscast member and former Netflix marketing chief Bozoma Saint John, who served as On Brand Agency’s Chief Marketing Offer.

While Fallon might have had high hopes for the reality series, Deadline reported that the show had a notably tough time slot, airing on NBC on Tuesdays at 10pm throughout the fall, along with Fridays at 8pm. As a result, the series failed to gain much traction among mainstream viewers, earning unremarkable ratings throughout its inaugural season.

In addition, many viewers had a less than enthusiastic response to the Fallon-backed show, as seen from several negative comments on social media platforms like Reddit.

"Just finished watching the two first episodes of On Brand with Jimmy Fallon. It’s basically an advertising competition show," one user wrote. "Watching this show was insulting to the entire industry. Making good ads is based on more than just an off handed idea or a hope that you can succeed because you’re quirky."

As it happened, most critics were just as indifferent to the series as viewers were, with many reviewers making their thoughts on the short-lived series achingly clear.

"What On Brand dares to wonder is, what if product placement was the whole show?" opined one critic from Cracked.

Tom Brady Brings Up Kevin Hart’s Vegas Affair in Viral Roast Moment

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:26am

On Sunday, May 10, The Roast of Kevin Hart streamed live on Netflix. Comedians, including Pete Davidson and Big Jay Oakerson, got together for a bash-session that was all in good fun.

First to the podium after host Shane Gillis' opening and Hart's self-introduction was retired NFL quarterback, Tom Brady. Brady, who was roasted in the same fashion in May 2024, didn't hold back when it came to taking shots at the Ride Along star.

"All right, this won’t take long, because, as you guys know, I’m a busy man," Brady said. "But I do have a few words for you before I return to my affairs in Las Vegas. Oh, wait, I’m talking about affairs in Las Vegas. Was that off? Not supposed to talk about affairs in Vegas? I think I broke another rule. F*** it. I talked about it."

Brady was referring to a 2017 incident where Hart cheated on his wife, Eniko Hart (nee Parrish), who happened to be pregnant at the time. At the time, Hart found himself a victim of attempted extortion as someone claimed to have a "sexually suggestive video" of him, according to TMZ.

View this post on Instagram

This prompted a public apology from Hart.

"I’m at a place in my life where I feel like I have a target on my back," he said in a video posted to Instagram in September 2017.And because of that I should make smart decisions. And recently, I didn’t. You know, I’m not perfect. I’m not going to sit up here and say that I am or claim to be in any way shape or form. And I made a bad error in judgement and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen and they did. And in doing that I know that I’m going to hurt the people closest to me, who’ve I talked to and apologized to, that would be my wife and my kids."

"And I just, you know, it’s a s***** moment. It’s a s***** moment when you know you’re wrong and there’s no excuses for your wrong behavior," Hart continued. "At the end of the day man, I just simply have got to do better. But I’m also not going to allow a person to have financial gain off of my mistakes and in this particular situation that was what was attempted. I said I’d rather fess up to my mistakes."

Brady's comments at the Roast were par for the course. Back in 2024, Hart didn't hold back when it came to Brady's personal life, dragging the former athlete's marriage to Gisele Bundchen, which ended two years prior.

1962 Classic Starring ‘King of Rock’ Ranked Among Best Rock Movies of All Time

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:12am

More than six decades after its release, Follow That Dream is once again gaining attention after Ultimate Classic Rock ranked the movie among the best rock films ever made.

The 1962 musical comedy starred Elvis Presley, widely known as the “King of Rock and Roll,” during a period when rock-themed films were rapidly growing in popularity. In its ranking of the best rock movies from every year between 1955 and 2025, Ultimate Classic Rock selected Follow That Dream as the standout rock film of 1962.

The publication noted that 1962 was “possibly the weakest year for rock films at the time,” pointing to other releases such as Kid Galahad and Girls! Girls! Girls! alongside lesser-known attempts to capitalize on the rock craze. However, the outlet said Follow That Dream earned recognition partly because of its “underrated title song” and its connection to future rock icon Tom Petty.

According to the article, Petty often credited a visit to the movie set as a life-changing moment that inspired him to pursue music. Petty’s uncle worked on the production and brought the future rocker to meet Presley during filming in Florida.

Released in 1962, Follow That Dream was produced by Mirisch Productions and based on Richard P. Powell’s 1959 novel Pioneer, Go Home! The film follows the Kwimper family, a group of drifters who claim land along an unopened Florida highway under homesteading laws.

Presley played Toby Kwimper, the kind-hearted son of family leader Pop Kwimper, portrayed by Arthur O'Connell. The cast also included Anne Helm, Joanna Moore and Jack Kruschen.

The movie was filmed across several Florida locations, including Inverness, Ocala, Inglis and Yankeetown. Scenes were also shot at the historic Citrus County courthouse in Inverness and at a bank building in Ocala.

During production in 1961, a 10-year-old Tom Petty visited the set with his family after his uncle, Earl Jernigan, invited them to watch filming. Petty later described being “dumbstruck” by Presley’s “supernatural presence.”

That encounter became a major part of rock history. Shortly after meeting Presley, Petty traded his slingshot for Elvis records and developed a deep interest in rock ‘n’ roll. He later became one of the world’s best-known musicians, selling millions of records and entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Last month, local officials in Ocala approved a historical marker commemorating the meeting between Presley and Petty.

The movie also performed well commercially after its release. It reached No. 5 on the Variety weekly Box Office Survey and later finished as the No. 33 top-grossing movie of 1962.

While many of Presley’s films were lighthearted musicals, Follow That Dream earned praise for his acting performance. Director Gordon Douglas said, “Elvis was a damned good actor and played some damned good scenes. He could do more than sing.”

Even Richard P. Powell, the author of the original novel, reportedly doubted Presley’s casting at first before later admitting the singer performed well in the role.

The film’s title song also became a success. Written by Fred Wise and Ben Weisman, “Follow That Dream” reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 5 on the Billboard Easy Listening chart in 1962.Presley appeared in 31 films between 1956 and 1969, including classics such as Jailhouse Rock, King Creole, and Viva Las Vegas.

Although many of his movies followed a similar musical-comedy formula, Follow That Dream continues to stand out because of its unusual story, Florida setting and lasting impact on artists who followed Presley’s path in rock music.

This America's 250th Cruise Kicks off in Oregon in May and Ends in Boston in July—See How

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:10am

While most people celebrate the Fourth of July with a backyard barbecue, American Cruise Lines is planning something a bit more ambitious for the country’s 250th birthday. This summer marks the inaugural departure of the Great United States Cruise, a 52-day epic that crosses 18 states, spans three distinct cruise segments, and travels all the way from the rugged coast of Oregon to the historic harbor of Boston.

It's part of a monumental month of "firsts" for the domestic cruise market, as the demand for world-class, U.S.-built ships continues to grow. “Our U.S.-flagged fleet and array of small ship itineraries honor American ingenuity, grit, and perseverance,” says Alexa Paolella, spokeswoman for American Cruise Lines. “This year, we are cruising more domestic waterways than at any other time in our company’s history, and we're looking forward to celebrating the country’s 250th birthday on board with our guests cruising from Alaska to the Florida Keys.”

The 52-Day Coast-to-Coast Journey

American Cruise Lines

The "Great United States" itinerary is essentially three world-class vacations rolled into one nearly two-month journey. Beginning on May 29 in Portland, Oregon, the trip is broken down into three logical (and legendary) chapters:

  • Chapter 1: National Parks & Legendary Rivers: Guests begin aboard the American Jazz, navigating the Columbia and Snake Rivers through Oregon and Washington before embarking on a guided land adventure through Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks.
  • Chapter 2: The Complete Mississippi: After flying down to the Big Easy, travelers board the American Serenade in New Orleans for a full-length exploration of the Mississippi River, stopping in iconic musical and historical hubs like Memphis and St. Louis before finishing in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Chapter 3: Grand New England: The final leg takes place aboard the American Pioneer, sailing round-trip from Boston. This segment winds through the rocky coasts of Maine, the quaint harbors of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, and the historic streets of Newport, Rhode Island, finally concluding back in Boston on July 19.

Best of all for the traveler who favors a "smart splurge," it's truly all-inclusive. It covers all three cruise segments, domestic airfare and hotels between the legs, daily excursions, meals, beverages and even Starlink-powered WiFi.

Beyond the Big Trip: More Ways to Celebrate 250 Years

If you don't have 52 days to spare, American Cruise Lines is launching several other "first-of-their-kind" voyages this May to mark the semi-quincentennial.

For history buffs, the 36-Day Civil War Battlefields Cruise departs New Orleans on May 5. This itinerary was specifically designed to honor the complex history of the Civil War while celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States, concluding its journey in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

May also marks the inaugural season for the Great Lakes, featuring the only 100% domestic cruises in the region. Sailing aboard the brand-new American Patriot, these 9-day itineraries travel between Buffalo, New York, and the Thousand Islands, offering a fresh perspective on the Northern border.

Even the riverboats themselves are making history this month. On May 12, the American Encore will become the first ship ever to be christened in the state of Idaho, following its debut on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.

Whether it's a 52-day odyssey or a week-long escape through the Great Lakes, it’s clear that the new way to see America is from the rail of a small ship. As Paolella puts it, the ability to cruise throughout the U.S. today is a "tremendous accomplishment that has been decades in the making."

Kate Middleton’s Fashion Choice Gets Attention During Latest Public Appearance

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:00am

Kate Middleton’s recent public outing is gaining attention for the right reasons after the Princess of Wales stunned royal watchers with her fashion choice.

The 44-year-old royal hosted the first garden party of the year at Buckingham Palace on behalf of King Charles.

Marking her return to traditional royal duties, the public engagement celebrated volunteers, community members and military personnel for their service to the nation.

Amid the sea of guests who enjoyed the fine afternoon, along with scrumptious tea, sandwiches and cakes, Kate Middleton’s outfit stood out as she stepped out in a stunning cream-colored look.

The royal opted for a quarter-sleeved peplum buttoned-up top, paired with a pleated polka dot midi skirt and a wide-brimmed black-and-white hat, a staple of her signature royal style.

Adding shimmer to her look, the mom-of-three chose simple and elegant Bahrain pearl drop earrings from the late Queen Elizabeth II and a triple-strand pearl bracelet designed by Nigel Milne from Princess Diana’s collection, as cited by People.

However, apart from her stylish ensemble or her dainty accessories, what impressed royal watchers was her choice of footwear for the day.

In a post on X, a fan account featured a video of Kate Middleton walking in the grassy venue area in high heels. What made it extra impressive was that they were not just an ordinary pair of high heels but stilettos, slender and tapered-heeled shoes.

“Walking on grass in stilettos is not for the weak… but Princess Catherine makes it look effortless,” the post reads.

The video sparked a wave of positive reactions and admiration from the public, with many swooning over how she was able to pull off that classy, effortless walk despite being in an outdoor setting, specifically on uneven grass.

“The Princess makes everything look effortless,” one wrote.

“Walking on grass in high heels takes practice, Pr. Catherine is ‘walking on her toes,’” a commenter said.

“It can be done, but it takes practice,” a fan said.

The same goes for another who praised the royal, saying, “Catherine is a master of it.”

One fan also mentioned the U.S. first lady, noting, “She and Melania are so amazing in how they do that and always carry themselves so elegantly in those HIGH heels.”

For years, Kate Middleton has mastered the art of timeless elegance, which has become her signature style.

Balancing traditional royal protocols, the Duchess of Cornwall also injects her personal fashion sensibilities into her wardrobe choices, giving classic looks a more modern approach.

Moreover, some of her public appearances feature subtle tributes to family members such as the late Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, whether through meaningful accessories or carefully chosen fashion pieces.

2004 Hit Action Film, Inspired by Best-Selling Book, Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 22 Years Later

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:48am

A 2004 sci-fi, action blockbuster film is experiencing an unexpected resurgence 22 years after its theatrical release.

I, Robot, a movie directed by Alex Proyas, was inspired by the works of one of the greatest and most influential science fiction authors of all time, Isaac Asimov, and his best-selling 1950 short story collection of the same name.

Set in 2035 in Chicago, it follows Detective Del Spooner, played by Will Smith, a homicide investigator tasked with looking into the suspicious death of a leading robotics scientist.

Throughout his investigation, Spooner, who distrusts technology due to a traumatic past, begins suspecting that some of the robots may be capable of independent thought, emotional reasoning and even violence despite their programmed restrictions.

Apart from its intriguing storyline, the sci-fi action thriller film featured an impressive cast lineup, with Bridget Moynahan, Alan Tudyk, James Cromwell, Bruce Greenwood, Chi McBride and Shia LaBeouf joining Smith as lead stars.

Decades after its release and with the rise of AI and rapid advancements in modern technology, the film is proving to be more relevant today than ever before.

The Will Smith-led movie recently made it onto Hulu’s top movies chart after I, Robot officially became available on the streaming platform on May 1.

I, Robot Marked Will Smith’s Unstoppable Run as Hollywood’s Biggest Box Office Star

With a production budget of around $120 million, the sci-fi movie became a significant commercial success after turning into a blockbuster hit.

Not only did it top the box office upon its release, but it also earned over $353 million in global ticket sales.

During its opening weekend, the movie grossed approximately $52.2 million and debuted at No. 1 in North America, knocking Spider-Man 2 from the top spot.

Following its box-office success, I, Robot received various nominations from major award-giving bodies, including a nomination for Best Achievement in Visual Effects at the 77th Academy Awards.

At the same time, Will Smith earned a Best Actor nomination at the BET Awards.

Speaking of the actor, the sci-fi movie arrived during an unprecedented hot streak that cemented Will Smith as Hollywood's most bankable leading man.

After his breakthrough in the 1990s hit sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, viewers got to see Smith take on more challenging roles.

From acclaimed dramatic performances in Six Degrees of Separation, Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness to blockbuster action-comedies like the Bad Boys franchise, he continued to headline major box office hits throughout the 2000s, including Men in Black, Independence Day and, of course, I, Robot, further cementing his status as one of Hollywood’s biggest box office stars.

The sweet smell of charcoal perfuming the air mixed with the feeling of unbridled possibility is intoxicating.

No wonder it feels like our batteries are being charged the more times we fire up the grill and spend all day outside. That and a bottomless pitcher of margaritas, and we might end up parked outside until the leaves start to change colors. Drinks and patio season are practically synonymous, and regardless of what’s actually in your glass, it’s important that your drinking vessel matches the vibe.

It’s also made for outdoors thanks to its acrylic construction, so there’s no need to worry about cleaning up shattered glass if it drops. The subtle, imperfect texture gives the glass an approachable, handmade vibe, and the crystal-like clarity makes it look like something you’d get from Crate & Barrel or Pottery Barn. Each glass can hold up to 14 ounces of your favorite beverage, and once you’re done, you can toss them straight into the dishwasher.

And did we mention you can grab one for only $3?! That means you could grab 10 glasses for $30 and still have cash leftover to grab drinks. The only thing left to do is fire up the grill, crank up some tunes and batch your favorite tipple. Might we suggest a Grilled Stone Fruit Old Fashioned? Now that’s what we call starting patio season off right. If you need us, we’ll be outside.

1982 Classic Song Inspired by Iran’s Ban on Rock Music Became The Band’s Biggest U.S. Hit

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:30am

When the English rock band The Clash came out with their song "Rock the Casbah" in 1982, it was a satirical reaction to the ban on Western music in Iran set to an irresistible beat. The band likely had no idea that it would go on to become their biggest hit in the United States ever.

The track was the group's second official single on their fifth studio album, Combat Rock, which was released on May 14, 1982. Along with "Rock the Casbah," the other singles were "Know Your Rights" and "Should I Stay or Should I Go / Straight to Hell." The album was the last from The Clash to feature the band's classic lineup that included members Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, and Nicky "Topper" Headon.

"Rock the Casbah" is one of the band's most unique songs. The track tells the story of a ruler who tries to outlaw rock music, and how all the citizens fight back against the censorship. The Clash wrote the lyrics in reaction to the ban on Western music in Iran following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Related: ’70s Rock Band Announce Update For "Final" Tour

Strummer opened up about writing the lyrics for the song in an interview with Rolling Stone shortly before he died in 2002, via Rocking in the Norselands. He said that he initially wrote the line, "The King told the boogie men You gotta get that raga drop," after a discussion with the band's manager.

"I looked at it and for some reason I started to think about what someone had told me earlier, that you get lashed for owning a disco album in Iran," Stummer went on. Topper composed the music for the hit song.

"Rock the Casbah" was an impressive success for The Clash, and it became their highest-charting song in the U.S., reaching No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Millie Bobby Brown's First Mother's Day Post Had a Special Message for Adoptive Moms

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:14am

Millie Bobby Brown has spent most of the past year keeping her life as a new mother deliberately private. On Sunday, she stepped into it publicly in a way that was somehow both softer and more meaningful than many celebrity Mother's Day posts manage to be.

Brown, 22, marked her first Mother's Day by sharing an Instagram Story that named and honored nearly a dozen different types of mothers, the hopeful mom-to-be, the exhausted mom, the grieving mom, the single mom, the mom figure who stepped up, and, specifically, the foster or adoptive mom. For Brown, that last category is personal. Last August, she and her husband Jake Bongiovi (son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi) announced that they had adopted a baby girl, writing on Instagram: 'This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.' She was 21 years old at the time.

In the months since, Brown has shared very little about her daughter publicly, a deliberate choice she has discussed in interviews. 'For me, it's really important to protect her and her story until she's old enough to potentially one day share it herself,' she told British Vogue in November 2025. 'It's not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly.' In February, on her 22nd birthday, she posted a rare photo of herself and her daughter at the beach, both in matching teddy bear jackets, writing simply, 'grateful for my husband and daughter. I am so blessed.'

Sunday's Mother's Day post fit the same pattern. Rather than just the photograph, the focus was on the message and the varied list, a deliberate acknowledgment that motherhood takes many forms, and that all of them count. For adoptive families in particular, that kind of recognition from a high-profile figure carries real weight, arriving at a moment when Brown's own story has drawn wide attention to what building a family outside traditional paths can look like. 'Being a mother expedited this version of me,' she told Allure earlier this year. 'Nothing could get in the way of me being who I need to be for my daughter.'

Bongiovi, 24, has been described by Brown as 'the most amazing dad' and the two share parenting equally, by her account. The family lives on a farm in Georgia alongside an assortment of rescue animals that Brown documents with considerably more frequency than her daughter. The Stranger Thingsfranchise that made Brown famous wrapped its final season late last year. Her next major project, Enola Holmes 3, arrives on Netflixon July 1, 2026, where she also serves as a producer.

How I Pack for a 7-Day Hawaii Vacation with a Single Carry-on

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:10am

Visiting Hawaii is something that most stateside Americans dream of. Its gorgeous beaches, vibrant culture, and awe-inspiring landscape can feel like a once in a lifetime opportunity to see. Now, let’s say that you’ve booked a trip to O’ahu. Flights are expensive–and you want to save as much money as you can. Traveling with just a carry-on is a great way to do that. With the cheapest economy seat available, you can end up saving hundreds of dollars on your flights alone.

You’re probably wondering, can I really fit a week's worth of vacation gear in just a carry-on? I’m here to tell you that it’s more than possible. My expertise comes from a year of touring the country on a Broadway production with a single suitcase and spending five years living in the notoriously tight quarters of cruise ships. And for countless years, I’ve been taking trips around the world with just a carry-on. I love how easy it is to travel with just a small suitcase, how I don’t have to spend extra time at airports handling baggage drop or pickup, and how the worry of losing my luggage isn’t even a thought in my mind.

I’m going to walk you through exactly what I’d pack for a week in O’ahu, Hawaii. Now, there are a few things to keep in mind: the weather is warm and humid, there will be lots of days spent relaxing on the beach, and you may want to pack clothing appropriate for outdoor exploring as well. Now, let’s get into it!

Three Tops and Three Bottoms every item can be mixed and matched

Melissa Cabey

For this trip, I’m really going to stick to the rule of threes. Each category will most likely get three of each. Let’s start with the tops. I chose three tops that are simple, breathable, and can match all of my bottoms. A white t-shirt never fails, and two different colored tank tops are great to alternate between.

For the bottoms, I went with three pairs of shorts. All three are cotton, but offer a different shape, color, and style. The first pair is a pair of white shorts that have structured pockets. The next pair is a thin and loose pink flowery pair, which are perfect for throwing on over a bathing suit. The last pair are a deep yellow color, they are a bit longer, and can be dressed up in the evening or worn casually during the day.

All together, this gives you nine possible outfit combinations just from the tops and bottoms alone. That in itself would last you more than a week, but you don’t want to just wear the same tops and bottoms all week long, do you? Don't worry, I have more for you.

Three Dresses sundresses are versatile and fun

Melissa Cabey

Sun dresses are perfect for a Hawaii vacation. I decided to pack three of my most fun and vibrant sun dresses, perfect for the atmosphere in Hawaii. Two of the dresses are a linen-cotton blend, which provides great breathability but a little bit of structure. These dresses are incredibly versatile–they can be worn to a visit to the beach, during the day on a shopping spree, or out to dinner when paired with a dressier pair of shoes or accessories. The final dress is a classic loose sundress, one that is perfect for daywear. It’s incredibly comfortable, is flowy so it won’t feel hindering when I get hot and sweaty, and it’s cute. A win all around!

Bathing Suits and Activewear

Melissa Cabey

Visiting Hawaii, you’re going to spend a lot of time at the beach. I decided to bring three of my favorite bikinis, which I will be able to rotate through during the week. If you are one of those people who would rather have a different bathing suit for each day, you can most likely still fit those in your bag–if you use a compression packing cube, that is! I still had a bit of extra room, so go for it! Personally, for me, I like to keep it simple and stick to three options.

In O’ahu, you might be heading out for a hike (you can’t miss those iconic waterfalls). In that case, you’ll want an activewear outfit that is easy to pack, durable, and breathable. I packed a simple black biketard, which can fold up to be very small, and it’s the perfect look for a hike in Hawaii.

Accessories, Shoes, Necessities, and Everything In Between Toiletries and accessories shouldn't take up that much room in your carry-on

Melissa Cabey

I always throw my undergarments and a pair of pajamas in a small compression packing cube (not pictured) and it barely takes up any room. After that, I go in with the remaining items that I’ll need. For this trip, I packed one fashion scarf, one baseball hat, and a container of jewelry. This will help to give variety in my outfits each day.

Then, I packed my bag of makeup, a hair tool, a brush, and toiletries. One of my key tips for toiletries is to go for as many solid products as possible. I use bars of shampoo, conditioner, and body soap at home, and for trips, I just put them in a ziplock bag and put them in my toiletry case. Then, I bring face lotion, deodorant, a razor, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. Since you’ll be out in the sun in Hawaii a ton, I recommend buying a container of reef-safe sunscreen to use throughout the week once you land on the island.

Adding extra shoes will take up unnecessary room in your carry-on

Melissa Cabey

For shoes, I decided to go for three simple pairs. One is a classic sandal, one that can be worn both at the beach and out walking around town. One pair is specifically dedicated to outdoor adventures. For that, I chose a pair of Tevas, which let my feet breathe in the heat, but offer support for a hike. Lastly, I packed a summery pair of ballet flats, which can be worn during the day or evening. I will wear that pair on the plane, which will save some room in the carry-on.

Lastly, you will have a personal item to bring as well. I usually bring a large shoulder bag. In there, I pack my medications, snacks, a book, electronics and anything else that I think I might need for the trip.

Maximize Your Aloha Spirit: Pro Packing Tips for O'ahu

Packing light for the islands is about more than just dodging baggage fees; it’s about having the freedom to hop from a North Shore surf session to a Waikiki sunset dinner without being weighed down. To truly master the carry-on-only lifestyle in Hawaii, keep these expert-level strategies in mind.

  • Prioritize Natural Fibers: Hawaii’s humidity is no joke. While polyester might look cute, linen and cotton are your best friends. They wick moisture away from your body and dry much faster if you get caught in a sudden tropical afternoon shower. If you do pack synthetics, make sure they have moisture-wicking technology.
  • Master the "Personal Item" Multi-Tasker: Your shoulder bag shouldn't just hold your plane snacks—it should double as your beach tote. Choose a high-quality, lightweight canvas or mesh bag that can transition from the overhead bin to the sand at Lanikai Beach.
  • The "Wear Your Weight" Rule: Space is at a premium, so always wear your bulkiest items on the flight. Even though you’re heading to the tropics, planes are notoriously cold. Wear your heaviest pair of sneakers or hiking shoes and a lightweight denim jacket or pashmina on the plane; you’ll appreciate the extra layer during the flight and the extra room in your suitcase.
  • Go Reef-Safe for the Environment: As mentioned, sunscreen is a necessity, but Hawaii has strict regulations to protect its delicate coral reefs. To save room in your liquids bag, don't pack a giant tube from home. Wait until you land to buy local, reef-safe mineral sunscreens that are Oxybenzone and Octinoxate-free. It’s a great way to support the local economy while protecting the ocean.
  • Leave Room for the "Aloha" Factor: One of the biggest mistakes travelers make is packing their carry-on to the absolute brim. Leave about 10% of your bag empty. Whether it’s a beautiful piece of local jewelry or a hand-printed sarong you found at a boutique in Haleiwa, you’re going to want a little "souvenir wiggle room" for the trip home.

‘Bewitched’ Star Erin Murphy Reveals How Producers Tried to Trick Fans With Darrin Switch

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:06am

Erin Murphy opened up about the famous Darrin Stephens casting switch on Bewitched. In May 2026, the former child star appeared on Billy Corgan’sThe Magnificent Others podcast, where she revealed that it never felt “weird” for her when her TV dad, originally played by Dick York, was recast on the show, because she witnessed the actor’s health struggles behind the scenes.

“It wasn't weird only because I had been there,” Murphy, 61, shared. “I worked three years with Dick York before Dick Sargent came in, and I saw that he was in pain. And even as a child, there he had this board. It was like a leaning board on set. So he'd have to lean in between scenes.”

“But for viewers of the show, the last season, especially, with Dick York there would be episodes written with Dick York. We do the table read with Dick York. Then something would happen where he couldn't be there. He was in pain,” she explained. "So there would be episodes that had Dick York and then we would not film it with Dick York. So there were, I think, seven or eight episodes in that season where he wasn't there.”

Murphy noted that before replacement Darrin, Dick Sargent, was brought in, the network aired a succession of episodes without the Darrin character in them at all.

“They aired those seven or eight no Darrin episodes in a row, thinking no one would notice,” she laughed. “It's like, ‘No one will notice, we'll bring back Darrin, they’ll think it's the same guy.’ Obviously, everyone noticed.”

York's exit came suddenly

Murphy played Tabitha Stephens on Bewitched from 1966 to 1972, but York and series star Elizabeth Montgomery made their debut on the ABCsitcom in 1964.

In a profile for the Los Angeles Times three years before his death, York detailed a severe spine injury he suffered while shooting the 1958 film, They Came to Cordura. While he continued to work as an actor, York relied on heavy doses of painkillers and cortisone for years, although he told the outlet he never took the drugs while he was on set.

York missed a lot of time from work due to his ailment, and in 1969, he collapsed on the Bewitched set and was hospitalized, never returning to the series again.

In footage included in the documentary The Bewitched 60th Anniversary Special, York said he felt like he “failed” everybody. “I didn’t finish that show, so I felt guilty, and I felt embarrassed, and I felt that I let everybody down,” the actor said in the interview.

York’s final Bewitched episode, “Samantha and Darrin in Mexico City,” was filmed in the fall of 1968, a few months before his collapse. It aired in April 1969,  after the succession of Darrin-free episodes at the end of Season 5. When Season 6 premiered in September 1969, Sargent made his debut as Darrin in the episode "Samantha and the Beanstalk."

Erin Murphy helped Dick York forget his pain

On Corgan’s podcast, Murphy shared that York once told her that one of the things that helped him get through the physical pain he was dealing with was spending time with her on the set.

“He told me as an adult that one of the things that would get him through is he would sit and tell me stories,” she recalled. “Like I was a kid on set and he was a dad…. so he was very paternal and he said I would take his mind off the pain.”

Murphy has always maintained that she was close to both of her Darrin dads, but that York was the more paternal of the two actors. In an interview with People, she said, "Dick York was a dad, and he had a lot of kids, and he was just more paternal. So he was more like a dad.”

One of Pop Culture's Most Beloved Characters Is Inspiring the Latest Old Navy Drop—Exclusive

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:00am

There’s something about vintage Mickey Mouse graphics that instantly brings people back to childhood. Whether it’s memories of Disney vacations, Saturday morning cartoons or oversized souvenir tees from the mall, we all know that feeling.

And now, that nostalgic style is making a comeback in a big way.

Old Navy and Disney are teaming up for a new Mickey & Friends collection launching May 13. This collection feels tailor-made for anyone who grew up loving classic Disney style.

Parade got an early look at the collaboration, which blends retro Disney artwork with casual summer staples for the whole family. You're going to like what you see!

Nostalgia-driven fashion has become one of the biggest trends in recent years, but this collaboration leans more timeless than trendy. Instead of oversized logos or flashy character graphics, many of the pieces feel surprisingly wearable, with subtle nods to Mickey & Friends woven into classic summer styles. Keep reading to see the standout pieces from the new Old Navy x Disney launch.

What’s in the New Old Navy x Disney Collection?

The collection mixes classic Americana pieces like denim, striped sets, graphic tees, swimwear and tote bags with vintage-inspired Disney details. Think embroidered patches, old-school Mickey artwork, gingham prints and designs that look like they could’ve come straight out of a 1990s Disney gift shop in the best possible way.

According to the brands, the line was designed to celebrate "American style reimagined through the lens of Mickey & Friends," and that balance comes through clearly in the collection. Several items lean heavily into classic Disney park aesthetics, especially the faded graphics and retro color palettes that longtime fans will instantly recognize. But some of the biggest highlights include:

The lineup includes styles for adults, kids and toddlers, with matching family-friendly options throughout the collection.

Part of the appeal is that Mickey & Friends imagery has remained remarkably consistent for generations. Parents who grew up watching Disney cartoons in the ’80s and ’90s are now shopping for styles featuring the same characters with their own kids.

When does the collection launch?

The full Old Navy x Disney collection launches May 13 online and in stores, just ahead of summer vacation season.

The Wild Story Behind One of Johnny Cash’s Most Famous Songs

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 6:59am

On May 11, 1965, Johnny Cash found himself spending the night behind bars in Starkville. Ironically, the bizarre incident would go on to inspire one of the most memorable songs of the legendary country music star's career.

Cash had arrived in Starkville for a concert at Mississippi State University. But after the show, he reportedly wandered through town in the early morning hours picking flowers.

According to local accounts, he was arrested for public intoxication and trespassing after being discovered in a private yard gathering blossoms to impress a woman he had met that evening. The country music legend was taken to the city jail, where he spent the night in a small cell before paying a fine and being released the next morning.

Rather than hide the embarrassing moment, Cash transformed it into music. The experience inspired "Starkville City Jail," a humorous spoken-word style track that appeared on his 1969 live album At San Quentin.

In the song, Cash jokingly recounts his arrest and famously sings, "I’d like to say it’s my belief / To be in Starkville, Mississippi, is the only place I’d rather be than here in jail."

Cash later recalled the arrest during his performance at San Quentin Prison in California on February 24th, 1969, explaining how he was "going to get some cigarettes or something" when he was arrested for "picking flowers."

"'Bout two in the morning, after a show I think it was," Cash continued.

"Anyway, I reached down and picked a dandelion here, and a daisy there as I went along, and this car pulls up. He said, 'Get it the hell in here, boy; what are you doing?' I said, 'I’m just picking flowers.' Well, $36 for picking flowers and a night in jail. You can’t hardly win, can ya? No telling what they’d do if you pull an apple or something."

The incident became one of the many colorful stories that added to Cash’s outlaw image during the height of his career.

While his struggles with alcohol and run-ins with the law were well known at the time, the Starkville arrest stood out because of its unusual and almost harmless cause. Decades later, it remains one of the most entertaining chapters in the legend of the Man in Black.

Kate Middleton’s Secret Palace Name Exposed by Former Royal Butler

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 6:42am

A former royal butler is lifting the curtain on life inside the palace, revealing the private name used for Kate Middleton behind closed doors.

In an interview shared by Express and given to Smooth Spins Casino, Grant Harrold, who served as a royal butler for seven years, revealed how the Princess of Wales preferred to be addressed when out of the public eye. He claimed she wanted any interactions with her to be more causal than formal.

“She was always known as Kate. Prince William always called her Kate. This Catherine thing only began after the wedding," Harrold explained.

“I think after their Coronation, she will be Queen Catherine. But until then, it was always Kate behind the scenes," he continued.

Harrold said that he used a less formal name for the royal family member. “I used to call her Kate. I was one of the few who were allowed to use first names rather than titles."

"When I first met her, she introduced herself to me as Kate - and asked me to call her that.”

RELATED: Kate Middleton Asked by King Charles to Change Spelling of Her Name, New Book Claims

Harrold concluded, “When speaking directly to members of the royal family, we used their official titles unless told otherwise. However, it was only William, Prince Harry, and Kate who wanted the less formal name option.”

In her official engagement interview alongside William, she was addressed as Kate by interviewer Tom Bradby of ITV News. She was called Catherine, the Princess of Wales, in a March 2024 interview where she revealed she had cancer.

In 2024, royal author Robert Jobson wrote in his book Catherine, the Princess of Wales, that the royal family member understood the lingering confusion over how she should be addressed. Although her legal name is Catherine, she has been called Kate by the press since joining the royal family in 2011.

In his book, per PEOPLE Magazine, Jobson wrote that in a 2008 article printed by Sunday Express columnist Adam Helliker, the senior royal took it upon herself to address the lingering issue in a lighthearted manner.

RELATED: The Royal Twist Behind Kate Middleton, Prince William’s Choice for Princess Charlotte’s Name

Helliker wrote, “I hear that in the past few weeks, the former accessories buyer has quietly informed friends that she would like to drop the informal ‘Kate’ and in the future wishes to be known by her full name: Catherine.”

The royal family refers to Kate Middleton as Catherine on all royal correspondence. However, she continues to go by the shortened moniker outside of palace formalities.
