'I Tried 7 Tankinis—These Are the Only 4 Styles I’d Actually Wear Out'

Summer is almost here, which means the return of beach days, afternoons by the pool and that annual ritual of finding the perfect swimsuit for the season. It’s a fun moment, in theory, until you’re juggling the constant push and pull between wanting to feel confident, covered, supported... and still like yourself.
That’s where the tankini is re-entering the conversation. Once written off as a little too "practical," or not cute or modern enough, this iconic silhouette is getting a modern reset.
"The tankini has definitely had a glow-up," says celebrity stylistAna Brillembourg, who has collaborated with brands like Moncler and Bottega Veneta. "It’s no longer the overly-sporty, overly-safe option it once was.”
The difference now is all in the details: "The key is structure and simplicity," she tell Parade. "Clean lines, good support and elevated fabric make all the difference."
So I put that theory to the test. I ordered seven of the most talked-about tankinis right now to see if they actually hold up in real life—not just on a product page. Some felt dated the second I put them on, while others surprised me with modern cuts, thoughtful support and styling potential that made them feel genuinely wearable. Read on to find out what I'm calling the four best tankini styles for 2026.

What Is a Tankini, Exactly?A tankini is basically the swimwear equivalent of having options. As Brillembourg explains, it "gives you the coverage of a one-piece but with the ease of a two-piece," making it a perfect in-between option. The top is cut longer—more like a tank, hence the name—and paired with a separate bottom, which is what makes it feel so adaptable in real life. Instead of committing to a full one-piece, you get a bit more flexibility—especially when your day shifts from lounging poolside to actually moving around.
That built-in versatility is really the point. Because the pieces are separate, you can adjust fit, coverage and comfort in a way that feels more personalized than traditional swimwear. It’s designed for ease—something that works with you through long, unpredictable summer days, whether you’re in and out of the water or just trying to stay comfortable without overthinking your outfit.

Who Should Wear a Tankini?Firstly, absolutely anyone can wear any fashion trend they want. That’s the fun part! Tankinis just happen to be especially good for people who want a bit more ease and coverage without feeling like they’re locked into anything too rigid or restrictive, says Brillembourg. Which is really the core appeal since they move with you, not against you.
Where it gets more specific is in the design details. The strongest versions aren’t just about covering the midsection, but about how the silhouette is shaped and balanced so it still feels intentional. Brillembourg is selective here, gravitating toward styles that offer subtle "shaping through the midsection" while still looking streamlined rather than bulky or overly sporty. It’s that combination of comfort and considered design that makes a tankini feel modern, rather than just practical.

4 Best Tankini Styles for 2026 1. Miraclesuit Love Knot Tankini, $126-132Courtesy Alyssa Rotunno
Shop it at MiraclesuitShop DD sizes at MiraclesuitStarting with the Miraclesuit Love Knot Tankini—which has an adorable polka dot pattern—this suit instantly set the bar for what a great tankini should do. The fit does a lot of the work in a very quiet, very smart way. The underwire and sweetheart neckline naturally lift and shape, while the adjustable straps let you fine-tune things to your liking (which, to me, is a must-have in all swimwear).
I also love the layered faux flyaway front, which gives just enough movement through the midsection to feel relaxed without losing that pulled-together shape underneath.
But what really sold me is how secure it feels without reading as heavy or overdone. It’s the kind of tankini that gives you support, so you’re not thinking about it every five seconds, but still has lots of personality—which is really the whole point.
2. Aerie Ribbed Tankini Bikini Top, $39.95; Popilush Sculpting Halter Tankini Skirt Swimsuit Set, $55 (originally $79)Courtesy Alyssa Rotunno
Shop the top at AerieShop the skirt at PopilushFor this look, I leaned into two very different takes on the tankini that both ended up feeling surprisingly easy to wear in their own way. The Aerie Ribbed Tankini Bikini Top is my go-to when I want something simple but still a little styled—the ribbed texture adds just enough dimension so it doesn’t fall flat, and the scoop neckline keeps everything relaxed, sporty and very "throw on and go."
On the other end of the spectrum, the leopard-print skirt from the Popilush Sculpting Tankini Set feels super easy to wear from beach to bar. The sculpting fabric smooths and supports without feeling restrictive, which is exactly what I need in a swimsuit bottom. Plus, it feels far more chic and unexpected compared to a standard swim brief, which is exactly why it made the cut for me.
3. La Blanca Island Goddess Halter Tankini Top, $95Courtesy Alyssa Rotunno
I always come back to the La Blanca Island Goddess Halter Tankini Top when I want something classic that just works without any effort. It’s that OG tankini silhouette with the halter neckline and softly ruched front that naturally flatters and smooths without feeling overworked. I love the adjustable tie at the neck because it makes the fit feel a little more personalized, and the built-in support gives enough structure that everything stays in place while still feeling comfortable and easy to move in.
What makes it a go-to for me is how uncomplicated it is in the best way—it pairs with basically any swim bottom, never feels fussy and somehow always looks right, whether I’m lounging poolside or actually splashing around in the water.
4. Soma Enbliss Wireless Tankini Swim Top, $98; Soma Enbliss Ruched Side Bikini Bottom, $49Courtesy Alyssa Rotunno
Shop the top at SomaShop the bottoms at SomaI love the Soma Enbliss Wireless Tankini Swim Top because it basically does the styling work for you, especially when paired with the matching bottom—it’s an instant win that feels pulled together without any effort.
But the understated print is what really sells it for me. The muted leopard print has just enough visual interest to feel fun, but still stays super wearable and easy to mix into any swim lineup, which makes it feel chic in a low-key way you can wear anywhere.
And then there’s the support factor, which is genuinely strong here thanks to Soma’s Enbliss wireless design—it holds you in and smooths everything out without feeling restrictive or stiff, so you get that secure, comfortable fit that still moves with you all day.

‘I’m a Cardiologist—This Is the One Snack I Always Have on Hand To Keep My Blood Pressure Down'
Often, a lot of attention goes into what we’re going to eat for our meals (shoutout to anyone thinking about dinner right now), but snacks tend to be less thought-out and more of a spur-of-the-moment decision.
Especially if you eat your snack while watching TV or are at the computer, it’s easy to consume way more calories than you intended. This is particularly the case when the snack of choice is low in satiating nutrients like protein, unsaturated fats and fiber.
Related: Here's Exactly What Happens to Your Cholesterol When You Eat Bananas
That doesn’t mean snacking is “bad.” In fact, snacks are an opportunity to support your health. It just depends on what you choose to eat. With this in mind, we asked cardiologists what their go-to snack is, particularly when it comes to supporting heart health and keeping blood pressure down.
After all, cardiologists see firsthand how dietary choices (good and bad) impact heart health. “I am a firm believer in the mantra ‘you are what you eat.’ When you've sat with a 40-year-old who just had his or her first heart attack and you review their diet history, it’s pretty easy to recognize alarming trends, most of which can be fully avoided with dietary diligence. I personally have become much more intentional about eating patterns; not obsessive, but intentional,” says Dr. Travis Benzing, MD, a cardiologist with Harbor Health.
Dr. Benzing says that he has shifted his eating habits to support what scientific research has shown: That eating a diet consisting mostly of plants and with minimal ultra-processed foods is best for cardiovascular health. What does this mean in terms of snack choice? Keep reading to find out.

When Dr. Benzing wants a snack, his go-to is unsalted pistachios. “A small handful in the afternoon is genuinely satisfying, can help to satisfy the afternoon lull, and the research behind them is surprisingly strong,” he says.
Dr. Benzing adds that unsalted pistachios are one of the most nutrient-dense nuts for cardiovascular health. He explains that they’re high in potassium, which counteracts sodium's blood-pressure-raising effects. They also contain magnesium, which he says can help to relax the smooth muscle in artery walls.
Related: The One Habit That Can Lower Your Blood Pressure Overnight, According to a Cardiologist
“They also deliver arginine, an amino acid that's a precursor to nitric oxide, which blood vessels use to dilate and reduce resistance,” he adds.
According to Dr. Benzing, clinical research has shown that regular pistachio consumption can meaningfully reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. “And because they're filling, with protein, healthy fat and fiber together, they displace worse snack choices,” he tells Parade.

Other Cardiologist-Approved Blood Pressure-Lowering SnacksDr. Mark O’Shaughnessy, MD, a cardiologist with Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, Indiana, has a different go-to snack choice. He opts for an apple, specifically a Cosmic Crisp apple, which is known for its sweet-tart flavor. Scientific research does show a connection between regularly eating apples and lower blood pressure, so if you aren’t into pistachios, it’s another excellent snack option. Or, you can have pistachios and an apple together!
Switching up your snack choice will help provide your body with a wider range of nutrients, so it’s helpful to have a range of heart-healthy snacks on hand. When building your snack stash, Dr. O’Shaughnessy says that what’s most important for people with hypertension is to avoid snacks that are high in sodium. That means not keeping salty chips, pretzels or beef jerky in the pantry.
Instead, Dr. O’Shaughnessy says to stock up on a range of fruits and vegetables. This is because they’re high in fiber and antioxidants, two nutrients that directly support heart health, including blood pressure.
Fruits like grapes, berries, bananas, cherries and plums can all be eaten as-is without any prep. As for veggies, sliced carrots or red peppers can be paired with hummus, salsa or guacamole—a lower-sodium and more nutrient-rich pairing than using tortilla chips.
Dr. Benzing notes that another heart-healthy snack is edamame, which is high in potassium, magnesium and protein. Have more of a sweet tooth? He says that Greek yogurt and dark chocolate is a great way to satisfy it while supporting your blood pressure because the Greek yogurt is high in potassium and calcium, while the dark chocolate has flavanols, a type of antioxidant that supports nitric oxide production, which causes blood vessel relaxation.
Does managing your blood pressure mean never getting to snack on foods like cookies and chips? Not at all. “I have always been an advocate of moderation in everything, especially in food. I don't have a problem with someone eating a donut or candy occasionally—I have an insatiable sweet tooth myself—but it needs to be in moderation,” Dr. O’Shaughnessy says.
When you’re following a heart-healthy diet the majority of the time, it’s not a big deal to have a salty plate full of French fries or a sugary piece of cake now and then. After all, food isn’t just about nourishment. It’s about enjoyment, too.

1961 Island Classic Behind One of Music’s Greatest Love Ballads Ranked Among Best Rock Movies
We can’t help but fall in love over and over again with Elvis Presley’s Blue Hawaii. A musical comedy that introduced one of the most timeless love ballads of all time — "Can’t Help Falling in Love" — the film stops feeling like a movie the second the King of Rock and Roll begins singing, and starts feeling like a vacation on which we’re being serenaded by a hunk in a Hawaiian shirt with a ukulele.
Ultimate Classic Rock gets it. The outlet just ranked the film that defined Presley’s acting career as the best rock movie of 1961.
@elxisprxsley#ELVISPRESLEY // this scene 😍 movie//bluehawaii, song// #canthelpfallinginlove // #foryoupage #viral #music #tiktok #trending #fyp #foryou #ilovehim #60s #elvis #elvispresley #elvispresleyfans #elvismovie @TikTok @tiktok creators @tiktokglobal
♬ original sound - .“With Blue Hawaii, [Presley's] manager Col. Tom] Parker got what he wanted,” UCR writes, “essentially a Bing Crosby movie starring Presley. The title song was even a hit for Crosby in 1937.”
An easy-breezy watch brimming with sun, sand, surf, and romance, the musical comedy follows Presley’s Chad Gates, a handsome rich kid who shirks responsibility for hanging ten with hotties on the beach. Set in Hawaii and filmed on location on Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, and Hanauma Bay, it co-stars the legendary Angela Lansbury as Chad’s mother. Charming, full of energy, and oozing with fun dialogue — UCR points out this cheeky line: “Do you think you can satisfy a schoolteacher and four teenage girls?” — the film became Presley’s most financially successful film in a long run of Technicolor dreams.
Much of the reason for its success was the hit soundtrack. A genius mix of romantic ballads and lighthearted tropical pop, it was composed of 14 tracks, including the iconic aforementioned ballad, the title classic “Blue Hawaii,” and the high-energy "Rock-A-Hula Baby.” The soundtrack was so popular it camped out at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 20 weeks, spending a total of 79 weeks on the chart, and easily became the best-charting album of Presley’s career.
Behind the scenes, the trivia is just as fascinating. Blue Hawaii became a major turning point in Presley’s film career, with his manager quickly realizing its formula had serious box-office power. From there, he essentially built the blueprint for Elvis movies: Drop Presley into an exotic location, add a few glamorous co-stars, and make sure there are enough songs to fill out an album. It worked almost every time. Presley went on to become a Top 10 box office star seven times throughout the 1960s.
Blue Hawaii is the first of three films shot in the Aloha State, followed by Girls! Girls! Girls! and Paradise, Hawaiian Style. Together, they make an unofficial tropical trilogy that doubles as a nostalgic time capsule of Presley’s island era. So, when you’re done here why not stay on island time and make it a full getaway? Queue them up, settle in, and let Presley deal with the hassles of traveling.
Blue Hawaii is available to rent or buy on Apple TV.

Star Trek Actress' Three Words About 'Strange New Worlds' Seasons 4 and 5 Have Fans Pumped
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been winding down its run for a while now, with Paramount+ confirming the show will end after a fifth and final season. But knowing something is ending and actually feeling it are two different things. This week, the cast made it feel very real, and somehow, that seemed to made it more exciting.
At CCXP Mexico City earlier this month, stars Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding, and Paul Wesley sat down with TrekMovie to talk about what's ahead in seasons 4 and 5. Gooding, who plays Uhura, put it plainly. 'I think it has a bit of kind of final boss energy. We're going to the farthest extreme of the strangeness and the newness.' That phrase, 'final boss energy,' is the kind of thing that stops a fan mid-scroll.
'SNW in many ways has been my Trek,' one fan reacted, 'the interview has sure piqued my interest.'
'Not ready to say goodbye to the SNW versions of the TOS characters,' another lamented.
Season 4 premieres July 23 on Paramount+, and Romijn told the outlet she considers it among the best work the show has done. 'I think seasons 4 and 5 are the two best,' she said. 'I think we're all so comfortable in our characters at this point and our relationships with each other.' Paul Wesley, who plays a young James T. Kirk, credited the writing. 'There's something about how the episodes roll into one another in seasons 4 and 5 that is just really compelling.'
Related: 95-Year-Old William Shatner Has Had Enough: 'Get a Life!'
Gooding also offered a striking contrast between the two final seasons. Season 4, she said, felt like senior year with high stakes and full intensity. Season 5 was something else entirely. 'If season 4 was senior year, season 5 was like summer camp,' Gooding said. 'All of season 5 felt very celebratory and referential.' Romijn, for her part, said she felt 'very lucky' to have a fifth season at all, and lucky that the show got to wrap up every character's arc properly. 'Obviously we know the next chapter, so it's not the end of the story,' she added. Wesley, meanwhile, kept his cards close but said simply 'I'm excited about the series finale.'
Season 4 consists of 10 episodes rolling out later this year, weekly through September 24. The fifth and final season, just six episodes, is expected in 2027. Both the showrunners and the cast say they had always planned to end the series at this point, using the final episodes to bridge Captain Pike's era to the beginning of Captain Kirk's command as seen in The Original Series. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the premiere date at the same CCXP event.
For a show that has consistently taken creative swings with musical episodes, puppet episodes, and animated crossovers, the idea that the best is still to come is exciting. Trek fans have spent three seasons watching this crew become family. If the cast is this energized about the ending, July 23 can't get here fast enough.
’90s Rock Band Announces New Film After Reunion Tour
More than 15 years after their dramatic split, legendary Britpop band Oasis is bringing fans behind the scenes of its long-awaited reunion. A new documentary about the group’s 2025 comeback tour will arrive in theaters this September before streaming later in the year on Disney+ and Hulu.
The untitled film was directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace and produced by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight. According to UCR, the announcement said the documentary includes “rehearsal, backstage and onstage access as well as the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 25 years.”
The movie follows Oasis’ 2025 reunion tour, the band’s first live performances together since breaking up in 2009 after years of public fights between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher. The reunion quickly became one of the biggest music events of the year and reportedly turned into the second highest-grossing tour of 2025.
The documentary is scheduled for a limited theatrical release beginning Sept. 11. It will later stream internationally on Disney+ and on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States.
Steven Knight shared his excitement about the project in a statement.
“I genuinely cannot wait for the world to see this film,” Knight said. “I believe it captures the spirit and emotion of a global cultural moment and does justice to the wit and genius of two exceptional people.”
He added: “I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but just as important, the story of the fans whose lives the music has touched and sometimes changed forever. It is also the story of how music and songwriting can unite generations, cultures, countries and in a time of spite and division, give us all some reason to hope.”
Oasis first formed in Manchester in 1991 and became one of the defining rock bands of the 1990s Britpop movement. The group was led by brothers Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, whose mix of hit songs and constant public arguments helped turn the band into global stars.
The band exploded with its debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994 before reaching worldwide fame with 1995’s “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” The album featured major hits including “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and “Champagne Supernova.”
Over the years, Oasis released seven studio albums, including Be Here Now, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants and Dig Out Your Soul. The group sold more than 100 million records worldwide and became one of the most successful British rock bands ever.
Still, tensions between the Gallagher brothers often overshadowed the music. In August 2009, Noel Gallagher announced he was leaving the band after a backstage argument in Paris, effectively ending Oasis.
For years, fans wondered if the band would ever reunite. That finally changed in 2024 when Oasis officially announced the Oasis Live ’25 Tour.
The reunion tour began in July 2025 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Former members Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell also returned for the tour.
The documentary news arrives during another major moment for Oasis. In 2026, the band was officially selected for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The announcement came after Oasis reunited and proved its popularity remained strong across generations. The Rock Hall ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 14 in Los Angeles and will stream later on Disney+, per New York Times.
The induction class also includes artists such as Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Sade and Wu-Tang Clan.

1977 Rock Classic, Banned by Some Radio Stations, Became a No. 1 Hit 45 Years Later
In 1977, Sex Pistols released a furious punk anthem that immediately ignited controversy across the United Kingdom.
But decades later, "God Save the Queen" achieved something few would have predicted at the time: it finally became a No. 1 hit in the U.K., 45 years after its original release.
Released during Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee celebrations, the song became one of the most controversial records in British music history almost instantly. Its anti-establishment lyrics and confrontational tone led to widespread backlash, including bans from the BBC and other radio stations.
Despite the bans, the single exploded in popularity.
The song reached No. 1 on the NME chart and climbed to No. 2 on the official U.K. singles chart in 1977, though many fans long believed it had actually sold enough copies to take the top spot. In one especially notorious move, the official chart reportedly displayed the title as a blank space to avoid causing offense.
"I love me country, I love me people and everything about it, but if there's problems in it, I think I have the right to say so," said frontman John Lydon of the song's origins in a 2022 interview. Clearly, many listeners agreed.
The chaos surrounding the single only added to its mythology. Before signing with Virgin Records, the band had briefly been signed to A&M Records, which controversially dropped them amid backlash and destroyed thousands of unreleased copies of the song.
Over time, "God Save the Queen" became more than just a punk single. The track evolved into one of the defining protest songs in rock history, representing rebellion, frustration and anti-establishment anger during a turbulent era in Britain.
Then, in 2022, during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the song experienced an extraordinary resurgence after being reissued. For the very first time, it officially became the biggest-selling single in the U.K., finally reaching No. 1 exactly 45 years after fans believed it had been denied the position.
Interestingly, Lydon later clarified that the song was never meant as a personal attack on the Queen herself.
"'God Save The Queen' was anti-royalist, but it's not anti-human," Lydon told NME in 2022, adding that he was "actually really, really proud of the Queen for surviving and doing so well."
Nearly half a century after it first outraged the establishment, "God Save the Queen" remains one of the most influential punk songs ever recorded and proof that rebellious music can still make history decades later.

The Clever Lipstick Trick We Wish We'd Known About Sooner
We're always amazed by the simple tips makeup artists have up their sleeves, especially when they help us get our money's worth with our favorite products. Case in point? While chatting with makeup artist Lindsey Trop recently, we learned a clever makeup trick we wish we'd known about sooner, and we just had to share it.
Trop, who is based in Connecticut, has been featured in Elle, InStyle and Vogue. Throughout her career, she has done everything from wedding makeup to beauty lessons and TV makeup.
During our discussion, Trop shared a unique lipstick trick that we'd never encountered before. It's so simple, it'll leave you wondering: "Why didn't I think of that before?"
The makeup artist also gave us several other useful tips, including where to apply lipstick for a fuller-looking effect, how to prep lips before applying lipstick and how to make your lipstick stay on longer without feathering. She also shared common mistakes that we've all made at least once! Read on for her top tips.

When it comes to lipstick, we're usually attracted to certain products for one major reason: the gorgeous color. But the shade you initially fell for doesn't always end up living up to your expectations. Luckily, there's an easy fix.
"If you’ve ever loved a lipstick in the tube but felt like it looked completely different on you, your natural lip color is likely influencing it," Trop says. "A simple trick is to neutralize your lips first by tapping on a bit of concealer and setting it with a translucent powder. Then apply your lipstick on top to enjoy the true color."
The makeup maven also says you can even mix a small amount of your foundation into the lipstick before applying it.
"This subtly adjusts the undertone so it harmonizes better with your skin, making the shade feel more you instead of sitting on top of your complexion," she says.

How To Make Lipstick Stay on Longer Without FeatheringWhether you're familiar with the term or not, you've likely experienced lipstick feathering before.
"Feathering is when lipstick bleeds into the fine lines around your lips. It tends to happen more with creamy or glossy formulas and on lips with more fine lines," Trop says.
To prevent feathering and lock in your lip color, Trop suggests the following application technique:
- Start by lightly applying foundation or concealer to the lip line and to the fine lines just around the lips, then set it with powder.
- Use a long-wear lip liner to define the lips and to act as a barrier for the lipstick.

Where To Apply Lipstick for a Fuller-Looking EffectCraving full, luscious lips? Trop has a few tips for achieving the look at home.
"For a fuller effect, focus on slightly enhancing the center of the lips rather than overlining everywhere. You can softly overline just at the cupid’s bow and the center of the bottom lip, then stay true to your natural shape at the corners," she says.
The makeup artist recommends keeping the corners "a touch deeper or more defined" and placing a bit more brightness or shine in the center.
"This creates dimension, which naturally makes the lips look fuller without looking obvious or overdone," she says.

How To Prep Lips Before Applying LipstickGetty
Skincare plays a big role in making sure you have a smooth canvas while applying foundation and concealer. Similarly, lip care is also important.
"Lip prep makes a huge difference in how lipstick looks and wears," Trop says.
Follow these tips from the makeup pro to nail your lip care routine:
- Start by gently exfoliating with a lip scrub to remove any dryness or flaking.
- Next, apply a hydrating balm and let it absorb while you do the rest of your makeup.
- Before applying lipstick, blot off any excess balm so the lips aren’t slippery.
- If you want extra longevity, you can lightly prime the lips with a lip primer.

5 Common Lipstick Mistakes To AvoidWhen it comes to lipstick, Trop has seen it all: the good, the bad and the ugly. And she's come up with a few tips for avoiding some common lipstick mistakes:
1. Not correcting your lip shape first"Lips are rarely perfectly even, and lipstick will highlight that if you don’t correct the shape first," Trop says.
The makeup artist suggests assessing your lip shape then using a lip liner or a small brush with concealer to correct the shape as necessary before applying lipstick.
"Focus on balancing proportions, like slightly lifting one side of the cupid’s bow, evening out the bottom lip or cleaning up the corners. Once the shape is perfected, the end result will look much better," she says.

2. Choosing the wrong undertone"A lipstick can technically be the right color but still feel off if the undertone clashes with your skin," Trop says. "Pay attention to whether a shade leans warm, cool or neutral, and choose tones that complement your complexion."

3. Holding onto the same signature lip color for too longIf you're a creature of habit, you've likely stuck with the same lip color for years. But Trop says you should consider switching things up occasionally.
"Over time, your skin tone, hair color and even your features can subtly change. A lipstick that once felt perfect can start to feel a little flat or off. Revisit your go-to lip color every year or so, or even seasonally, and reassess," Trop suggests. "You don’t have to completely change it. Sometimes it’s just about adjusting the undertone, depth or finish so it continues to complement you in a fresh, natural way."

4. Skipping prep"Dry or textured lips can make even the best lipstick look patchy. Smooth and hydrate lips beforehand so the color applies evenly and comfortably," Trop recommends.
5. Not checking for lipstick on teeth"After applying, place a finger in your mouth, close your lips around it and pull it out. This removes excess product from the inner lip," Trop says.

1987 Nostalgic Dance Track, Ranked Among Top Songs of the ‘80s, Almost Won a Grammy 38 Years Ago
Sometimes, a thrown-away track can lead to becoming just what a new artist needs to make a name for themselves. Taylor Dayne released the first single of her debut album in 1987, which led to major exposure and her first-ever Grammy nomination.
In the late '80s, fans were dancing the night away to hits like Madonna's "Into the Groove," Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," and Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)." Dayne was ready to start her career as a pop artist when she released the hit track "Tell It to My Heart" that was later part of her debut album of the same name.
Rolling Stone tagged the track at No. 148 on their list of the best songs to ever be released in the '80s. They tagged the track as having been, "Miami freestyle hits the Long Island bar-mitzvah circuit to conquer Middle America. Result: a permanent disco floor-filler." Time Out magazine once ranked "Tell It to My Heart" at No. 80 on their list of the best party songs ever made.

Dayne's track climbed the charts after its release, having entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 92 before peaking at No. 7 the following year. Like most chart-topping tracks, it was almost never released and originally recorded by another artist. At the start, Dayne had contacted Chappell Music for a list of demos that were pushed aside.
"Tell It to My Heart" was first recorded by Louisa Florio for her self-titled Canadian album, when Dayne stumbled upon the track and immediately felt a connection. Dayne recalls being enamored by its "happy hook" and even borrowing money to get it started. The singer told Fox News in 2019 that "It was all going to cost about $6G… So I did borrow some money from my dad. But that’s how 'Tell It to My Heart' happened."
Not even Dayne anticipated the track becoming a hit and going from "singing in clubs on Long Island to opening stadiums in Europe." The hit dance song was soon nominated for a Grammy in 1988 for Best Pop Vocal, Female. Dayne lost to Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" alongside fellow nominees Brenda Russell, Joni Mitchell, and Tracy Chapman.
Dayne's career skyrocketed thanks to track, as she became the opener forMichael Jackson's "Bad" tour. The singer recalls it being the "scariest, most exhilarating moment of my life" and later released her other hit tracks, "Prove Your Love" and "I'll Always Love You."
Dolly Parton's Bold TV Experiment Ended 38 Years Ago Today
Thirty-eight years ago today, Dolly Partonclosed the curtain on a bold chapter of her career. On May 10, 1988, the final episode of Dolly aired on ABC.
The monumental episode brought the singer’s short-lived but star-studded variety show to an end after just one season.
Though its run was brief, the series pulled in an impressive mix of guests across music, film and television. Appearances included country legends like Tammy Wynette, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, as well as crossover stars such as Linda Ronstadt and Tom Petty.
Hollywood names like Bruce Willis, Tom Selleck and Oprah Winfrey also made appearances, underscoring the show’s wide appeal.
Although the series had strong star power, the ratings just weren't there. Dolly arrived at a time when traditional variety shows were becoming harder to sustain on network television, and after 16 episodes, the network decided not to renew.
Even so, Parton, now 80, embraced the format wholeheartedly, blending musical performances, comedy sketches and celebrity interviews.
Dolly wasn't the only show ABC axed that season. Shows like Spenser: For Hire, The Charmings, Once a Hero and Sable were also canceled.
And this wasn't Parton’s first foray into television, either. She had previously co-hostedThe Porter Wagoner Show in the late 1960s, where she first gained national exposure.
While Dolly didn’t last long, it reflected her willingness to take creative risks and expand beyond music. By the late 1980s, she was already balancing chart success with film roles and television projects, building the crossover career that would define her legacy.

1960 Hit Song, Known as the Saddest of All Time, Was Banned From the Radio 66 Years Ago
“Tell Laura I Love Her” was a hit 1960 song written by Jeff Barry and Ben Raleigh. It was originally recorded by Ray Peterson, and reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was later released by Ricky Valance, and rose to No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart.
The classic song, which sold over seven million copies, is about a teenage tragedy. It tells the story about a young man who is in love with a woman named Laura. He enters a stock car race in the hopes of winning prize money to buy her a wedding ring, so they can get married. However, his car bursts into flames and his final words are about how much he loves her.
Despite its popularity, the song was banned by the BBC soon after being released for being in bad taste since it was about the death of a teenager. Some were also worried that the song would inspire “copycat activity” by fans.
Some of the lyrics include: “No one knows what happened that day, how his car overturned in flames. But as they pulled him from the twisted wreck, with his dying breath they heard him say, ‘Tell Laura I love her. Tell Laura I need her. Tell Laura not to cry. My love for her will never die.’”

To this day, there are still many fans of this song. The YouTube video of the Ray Peterson version, which has over 10 million views, has comments like: “How can anyone with a heartbeat not cry listening to this song?” Another simply said, “This is the saddest song of all time.”
After the popularity of Valance's version of the song, Peterson re-released the single in 1962. The song was also covered by Italian singer Michele in 1967, but the lyrics were changed so that the story was about Tony, not Tommy.
Throughout his career, Peterson also sang songs like "Corrine, Corrina" and "The Wonder of You." He died of colon cancer in 2005 at the age of 69.
Although "Tell Laura I Love Her" was Valance's biggest hit, he also recorded songs like "Once Upon a Time," "Lipstick on Your Lips," and "Jimmy's Girl.” He died at the age of 84 in 2020 after a battle with dementia.

Best-Selling Author’s Novel Inspired by ’50s Icons Ranked Among ‘Most Streamed Audiobooks’ of All Time
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid has earned another major milestone after Spotify ranked the audiobook No. 15 on its list of the 20 most-streamed audiobooks available through Premium.
First published in 2017, the historical drama novel has grown into one of the biggest modern fiction successes in recent years. The story follows fictional Old Hollywood actress Evelyn Hugo as she shares the truth about her glamorous career, seven marriages and hidden love life with journalist Monique Grant.
The audiobook’s continued popularity highlights the lasting interest in Reid’s Hollywood-inspired storytelling. The author has previously said that the character Evelyn Hugo was loosely inspired by real-life screen legends, including Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth.
According to Goodreads, the novel holds a 4.39 rating from more than 4.2 million readers. The book was also nominated for the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Historical Fiction in 2017.
The novel tells the story of aging movie icon Evelyn Hugo, who unexpectedly chooses struggling reporter Monique Grant to write her biography. During their interviews, Evelyn recounts her rise from poverty to fame in 1950s Hollywood while revealing the secrets behind her marriages and personal life.
The book is divided into seven sections, each named after one of Evelyn’s husbands. As the story unfolds, readers learn that the greatest love of Evelyn’s life was not one of her husbands, but actress Celia St. James.
Reid’s writing mixes romance, fame, heartbreak, ambition and LGBTQ+ themes against the backdrop of classic Hollywood. The story also touches on historical moments such as the Stonewall Riots and the struggles LGBTQ+ performers faced during the studio era.
A review from Lighthouse Writers Workshop praised how Reid “paints a beautiful picture that immediately immerses the reader in Hollywood during the 1950s.”
The review also noted that the novel explores “identity and self-appreciation” while showing “the sacrifices” Evelyn and Celia make to protect their relationship in a time when public acceptance was limited.
Reid has become one of the most successful fiction writers of the past decade. She now has nine No. 1 New York Times bestselling novels, including Daisy Jones & The Six, Malibu Rising, and Carrie Soto Is Back.
Several of her books have also been adapted for television and film. Daisy Jones & The Six became a streaming miniseries in 2023, while Netflix announced plans to adapt The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo into a feature film.
The planned movie adaptation was first announced in 2022 with writer Liz Tigelaar attached to the project. Director Leslye Headland was originally connected to the film but later confirmed she was no longer working on it.
Despite years passing since the novel’s release, interest in Evelyn Hugo continues to grow through streaming, audiobook listening and online fan discussions.
For Reid, the achievement adds another chapter to a career built on emotionally driven stories centered around complicated women navigating fame, love and identity.

Tim McGraw Shares Rare Throwback of Faith Hill and His Mom for Mother’s Day and Fans Are Emotional
Tim McGraw just shared the sweetest tribute to his wife and mother, but it’s the emotional message that came with it that fans can’t get enough of.

“Happy Mother’s Day to my mama and my incredible wife and mother of our 3 girls!” he wrote. “Everything good in me came from these remarkable women. I love ya’ll so much.”
Fans loved seeing the rare photo of both women together, whom McGraw, 59, has gushed about separately in the past.
“You’re a blessed man. Happy Mother’s Day to your beautiful wife and momma 💖,” one user wrote on Instagram.
“That is awesome Tim, two wonderful women,” another Facebook user shared.
A third said, “You are a good man Tim McGraw!”

For longtime fans of McGraw and Hill, the post served as a reminder of just how long the couple has been at the center of country music. The pair first met in the 1990s before marrying in 1996, and this October they’ll celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
The emotional Mother’s Day message comes during another major milestone year for the duo as well. 2026 marks 20 years since the launch of their wildly successful Soul2Soul II Tour, one of the most iconic country tours of the 2000s. They share three daughters, Gracie, 29, Maggie, 27, and Audrey, 24.
A few days before, McGraw reflected on the anniversary in another nostalgic social media post, writing, “20 years since Soul2Soul II, and I'm still so grateful for every memory we made out there,” along with a montage of them performing and other promotional throwback pics.
At the height of the Soul2Soul era, the duo became one of music’s biggest power couples. And their undeniable chemistry (both onstage and off) helped turn the shows into massive successes, eventually grossing well over $100 million.
18 Years After Harmony Said Goodbye, This Daytime Legend Shares a Heartbreaking Update on the 'Passions' Reunion
Last year, Passions fans were thrilled when series star Juliet Mills teased a new project was underway with co-stars James Hyde and Rodney Van Johnson, now almost a year later, Hyde has commented on the status of the project.
Hyde’s new management team, St8rm (pronounced Eight Storm), stirred fans with an Instagram tease that he had booked a new project. The comment section buzzed with joyful messages, reflecting how much viewers miss seeing him on screen.
One fan inquired about the Passions reunion and asked for any updates, writing, "Hi James! Anything happening with that Passions reunion of sorts you posted about awhile back? 🤔"
Hyde responded, “Not at the moment, still waiting on the production company.”
Fans were disappointed but remain eager for the series' return, expressing continued hope. "Still hoping for it sometime soon. 🙏🏻❤️," wrote one fan.
Passions aired on NBC from 1999 until its cancellation in 2007. The series found a brief second life on DirecTV’s 101, where it aired for an additional year, before coming to a close for good on August 7, 2008.
Unlike traditional soap operas rooted in realism, Passions transported fans to a world of escapism, full of magic and wonder. The series centered on Harmony’s local witch, Tabitha Lenox (Mills), and her endearing animated doll, Timmy (Josh Ryan Evans), inviting viewers to believe in the impossible.
In 2001, the series released a spin-off novel, Hidden Passions: Secrets from the Diaries of Tabitha Lenox, which gave viewers insight into the series' history prior to its premiere through Tabitha's (Mills) lens.
While Passions never became a ratings success, often ranking at the bottom of its competition, the series was top-rated among younger demographics, ranking number 1 with girls aged 12 to 17 and women aged 18 to 24.
Previously Hyde and Mills teased a reunion project on Instagram in a video post. Mills shared, "I think it’s time we stirred up some trouble. Let’s see if we can a few of those other deadbeats from Passions in here. Let’s plot and plan. We’ve got a scheme.”
Then text came on screen teasing an upcoming project, saying “Return to Harmony”, referencing the fictional town that Passions took place in.
Fans will have to stay tuned to see if they can one day watch the return of their beloved soap opera.
Here’s Exactly What Happens to Your Blood Pressure When You Cook With Olive Oil
If you’re part of the nearly half of all U.S. adults with high blood pressure, you know that a major step to taking control of your health is following a heart-healthy diet. It’s empowering to know that high blood pressure is reversible; just because your blood pressure may not be where you want it to be right now doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.
The DASH diet (an acronym for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) was created specifically to lower blood pressure, and it’s been scientifically shown to work. This eating plan emphasizes eating lots of vegetables, fruit and whole grains, and moderate amounts of meat, low-fat dairy, nuts and seeds.
Related: The One Habit That Can Lower Your Blood Pressure Overnight, According to a Cardiologist
If lowering blood pressure is one of your health goals, it’s not just what you eat that’s important. How you cook it matters, too. For example, think of the spices and cooking oils you use regularly. Often, these spices and cooking oils are kept right by the stove so you can easily reach for them, unlike the spices and oils you use less often that may be buried in the pantry. Since you’re incorporating these ingredients into your meals regularly, they greatly impact your health.
With this in mind, Parade reached out to heart health experts—a cardiologist and a cardiac dietitian—to find out how various cooking oils impact blood pressure. If you cook with olive oil regularly, how will that affect your blood pressure? And how does cooking with olive oil compare to cooking with other popular oils, such as canola or vegetable oil? Keep reading to find out.

How Cooking With Olive Oil Impacts Blood PressureIf you want a cooking oil that will support healthy blood pressure, olive oil is a great choice. Dr. Maya Vadiveloo, PhD, RD, an associate professor of nutrition and health sciences in the department of nutrition and food sciences at the University of Rhode Island and volunteer chair of the American Heart Association’s Lifestyle Nutrition Committee, explains that this is because it’s high in monounsaturated fats and antioxidants, which both help lower blood pressure. She says that they do this by promoting vasodilation (the widening of blood vessels) and improving the vascular tone of arteries.
Dr. Jayne Morgan, MD, a cardiologist, the vice president of medical affairs at Hello Heart who is working with SeeYourRisks.com, also says that cooking with olive oil can help lower blood pressure, telling Parade, “Olive oil improves nitric oxide availability and therefore better vasodilation of arteries, leading to lower blood pressure." Nitric oxide signals to the smooth muscles in blood vessels to widen and relax.
Related: Here's Exactly What Happens to Your Blood Pressure When You Drink Water
The antioxidants in olive oil make it an especially great cooking oil for lowering blood pressure.
“Antioxidants protect blood vessels from oxidative damage, which can injure the lining of blood vessels, and plaques form to repair those injuries,” Dr. Vadiveloo says. “Over time, plaque accumulation narrows blood vessels, which causes the heart to pump harder to effectively deliver blood throughout the body. In addition to increasing blood pressure, the regular strain increases the size of the left ventricle and increases the risk of heart failure.”
Dr. Morgan explains that another reason why olive oil supports blood pressure is that it’s anti-inflammatory, which helps prevent oxidative damage to the endothelium, a large organ that helps keep blood moving smoothly throughout the body. “Olive oil doesn't just lower blood pressure, it makes arteries behave younger,” she says.
Scientific research backs up the connection between consuming olive oil and healthy blood pressure. And that’s not the only way it supports heart health. Since it’s anti-inflammatory, Dr. Morgan notes that it it benefits cardiovascular health as a whole and helps lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. Additionally, Dr. Vadiveloo says that the unsaturated fats in olive oil can help lower LDL cholesterol, which is a primary way to lower the risk of coronary heart disease.
When buying olive oil, just be sure it’s extra-virgin olive oil specifically, which both experts say packs the most health benefits.
Is Cooking With Olive Oil Better for Blood Pressure Than Other Oils?No doubt cooking with olive oil supports blood pressure, but how does it compare to cooking with other popular cooking oils? In general, Dr. Morgan says that cooking with olive oil is healthier than any other oil, such as canola or vegetable oil.
“The difference is that olive oil contains mostly monounsaturated fats, whereas canola oil contains a combination of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats,” she says, adding that vegetable oil has a high amount of polyunsaturated fats, which are more prone to heat-induced oxidation.
When this happens, it forms aldehydes and other byproducts that are harmful to the vascular system. “Extra-virgin olive oil slows the oxidation during cooking, whereas canola and vegetable oils have a greater tendency to oxidize when heated or reused,” she explains.

If you cook with animal-based products like butter or beef tallow, Dr. Vadiveloo says that switching to cooking with olive oil can be especially beneficial for heart health because you’ll be replacing an ingredient high in saturated fats (which aren’t great for cardiovascular health, in excess) with an ingredient high in unsaturated fats (which do support heart health).
When it comes to diet and heart health, what you cook with regularly matters. Making your go-to ingredients ones that directly support your health will set the foundation for a truly nourishing meal.

Fashion Icon Marilyn Monroe Refused To Wear This One Popular Clothing Item
Marilyn Monroe would have celebrated her 100thbirthday this year, on June 1. In honor of the upcoming milestone, her old friend, James Haspiel, spoke with PEOPLE about her legacy.
Haspiel, who is 88, met the star when he was only a teenager. He was originally a fan who photographed her with his five-dollar camera, but he eventually became a close friend of the legend.
“Marilyn Monroe was a costume she put on,” he said. “It was her invention, it gave her success, but in real life, she was Norma Jeane.”
Norma Jeane was the icon’s real name, which she eventually changed to make herself more marketable. Her mother’s maiden name was Monroe, and the name Marilyn was inspired by the Broadway actress, Marilyn Miller.
Haspiel went on to explain that one of the reasons Monroe was so beloved was because she wasn’t afraid to show off her real figure. “She was loved because she didn’t wear a girdle,” he said. “She was real. She did things other actresses didn’t often do.”
Related: Pat Sajak’s Daughter Hard Launches Her Relationship With Fan-Favorite Savannah Bananas Player
He continued, “In the 1950s and before and sometimes after, actresses wore girdles so that they had a flat stomach. Lana Turner is a perfect example. She never had anything but a perfect figure, if you will.”
Haspiel published the 1991 book Marilyn: The Ultimate Look at the Legend, which contained never-before-seen pictures that he took of the star. When speaking about other famous photographs of her, he revealed that there was speculation she was pregnant after she was photographed for the 1961 movie The Misfits.
“That is the very same belly that's visible onscreen for two hours in The Prince and the Showgirl and the very same belly that first appeared on-screen in Niagara,” Haspiel said. “In other words, you can go back to those movies and see that same belly. And it was simply because, unlike other actresses, Marilyn didn't wear a girdle."
Haspiel, who called his friend an “angel,” said he "cried for two years” after her death. Monroe passed away at the age of 36 in 1962 from an alleged drug overdose.

The red and blue stars set feels especially perfect for Memorial Day or the Fourth of July. They would look right at home filled with lemonade at a backyard barbecue. The crab design would be so fun for a seafood night, but all of the designs feel perfect for summer, even for everyday use.
Because they are sold in sets, it’s tempting to grab more than one. Mixing and matching different patterns could make a dinner party tablescape feel colorful and collected without trying too hard. They are also the kind of glasses you could use daily for water, iced coffee, mocktails or cocktails.
The best part is the low price. At $19.98 for a 4-pack of icon glasses, Sam’s Club makes it easy to tap into a viral trend without spending $16 per glass. With summer 2026 right around the corner, these adorable Sam’s Club icon glasses are a small upgrade that makes hosting (or even just hydrating) a little more fun.
