It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for romance or a murder mystery; June 2026 was packed with some excellent reads. You likely slept on many of them, as the focus became on some of the big hitters.

There’s Only One Sin in Hollywood by Rasheed Newson and Harvest Season by Brynne Weaver quickly became some of the most talked-about books (and for great reasons). Yet, there were some worthy contenders lurking in the shadows.

As the heat goes up, you’ll spend more time at the beach or relaxing on the patio. These are the seven books to add to your list.

Murder mysteries can be cozy and fun, and that’s certainly the case with Death on the Lanai by Rachel Ekstrom Courage. Not only is this a fun take on a murder mystery, but it’s a Golden Girls mystery. Yes, it’s fully licensed and official, and you’ll get to see your favorite women back on a mission to figure out a murder.

Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sophia are invited to a lavish party. Well, one of them is, and they’re not sure which one, so they all go. Fortunately, the host is more than willing to let them all stay, but when the host turns up dead, things take a suspenseful turn. One of our Golden Girls ends up a suspect, and the others protect her knowing that she definitely didn’t do it. Who did, though?

For those on the hunt for a YA romantasy, Shadow Reaper by Lynette Noni is the June release that you will not want to sleep on any longer. Set in the city of Aravell, it follows 17-year-old Viridia Solace, who has trained for years to hunt beings that are called the reapers. She’s desperate to kill the one known as the Reaper Priest, who killed her parents.

Viri gets a chance when the Priest’s most loyal follower, Reeve Aston, is captured. However, there’s a price that comes with the chance of revenge, and Viri has to decide if it’s worth it. This is a wonderful mixture of romance, fantasy, revenge-driven plots, and real character development. While it’s YA, it doesn’t read that way, and it’s perfect for all romantasy fans.

The sequel to Game, Set, Match came out in June, and you may have missed it. Wildcard by Jennifer Iacopelli continues Indiana Gaffney’s story, as she continues to push forward in her dream career. However, everything could come crashing down when it comes to her hidden romance — a romance that she’s even hiding from her best friend.

While Wildcard could have brought out all sorts of jealous-girl tropes, it finds a balance between the initial feelings of betrayal and the understanding of the situation. Sure, the women have their eyes set on winning, but they also know that winning can’t come at the cost of friendship, and it’s a true draw in the middle of this sports romance.

What happens when two happily married serial killers reach a midlife crisis? Well, that’s what Self-Help for Serial Killers by Asia Mackay gets into. And you know you completely skipped out on this hilarious thriller novel. It’s packed with family drama and psychopathic moments that make you crave more.

Hazel and Fox seem to have it all. They have their children, and a beautiful home. They even seem to have the work-life balance perfected. That is until they draw a dangerous group of people to their doorstep. The couple isn’t afraid of bad men, but there is the fear of the neighbors learning what their extracurricular activities involve, especially when real family is on the line.

At the same time, there’s a mystery to figure out that is laced with secrets and magic. This was the perfect release in June, focusing on LGBTQ+ romance in more ways than one!

Fliss is a woman simply trying to live with a curse. When she gets an anonymous request for a flower she’s never heard of, she doesn’t expect it to lead her on a journey that will get to the bottom of her curse. Could she end up removing it after all these years? Are the risks worth the reward?

If you love The Hangover but would like more of a romance element to it, then you’ll need to turn to Winner Takes All by Emily Martin. It brings the enemies-to-lovers trope, but adds in the wedding that neither of them remembers.

These two music moguls now need to figure out what happened the night before. They know they were both trying to win a particular band over, but somehow, a night in Vegas turned into a marriage…to each other. They don’t know how, but in the attempt to retrace their steps, could they realize that they actually have more in common than they originally thought?

For those who need a mixture of everything, The Winged Game by Sophie Kim is a must. Now, it’s a little unfair to include this on a “books you slept on” type of list when it was only released on June 30, but it’s one that you need to read. It follows Taissa Cho and Kion Locke, as they figure out their not-quite-hatred for each other, learn what’s going on with the team, The Stymphs, and get to the bottom of a mysterious illness that’s affecting all the winged animals, except their own.

There’s mystery, intrigue, fantasy, romance, and sport, all thrown into one. The best thing is that it’s not just Taissa and Kion that get development. While it’s only told from their POVs, we get to know about the other members of the Stymphs, and the connection with the creatures is a wonderful addition. Chronos is sure to become your favorite character by the middle of the story.

Soft rock would not be quite the same without the iconic bass lines and warm vocals that Joe Puerta contributed throughout his career.

Now, the musician behind some of that sound is celebrating a milestone birthday. Puerta, the bassist, vocalist and founding member of Ambrosia, turns 75 on July 2 after decades of helping bring the band's music to life.

Ambrosia formed in Southern California in 1970 with Puerta, David Pack, Christopher North and Burleigh Drummond. With Puerta as part of the band's classic lineup, the group became known for blending soft rock, pop, progressive rock and soul into a sound that felt both smooth and ambitious.

The band went on to score several major hits between the mid-1970s and early 1980s, including "How Much I Feel," "Biggest Part of Me," "You're the Only Woman (You & I)" and "Holdin' on to Yesterday." Puerta co-wrote "Holdin' on to Yesterday," which became one of the band's early signature songs and earned three Grammy nominations.

Puerta once reflected on the emotional side of songwriting in an interview with ClassicBands.com, explaining that songs often come from real life. "You write a lot from experience," he said, "and if not personal experience, then people you come in contact with."

That approach allowed Ambrosia's music to connect with listeners long after its original release. The band's biggest songs remain staples of classic rock and soft rock playlists, carrying the same warm, nostalgic feel that made them stand out decades ago.

Puerta's career also extended beyond Ambrosia. During the 1980s, he became part of Bruce Hornsby and the Range, adding another major chapter to a career that had already made a lasting mark.

Now, as Puerta turns 75, his work continues to speak through the songs that made Ambrosia a lasting name in soft rock. Decades after those hits first reached listeners, Puerta remains a defining voice and musician from one of soft rock's most memorable eras.

Carole King is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of one of her most epic concerts by giving fans a chance to rewatch it online.

Announced Thursday on Instagram, the music icon shared that the concert film of her 2016 show in London's Hyde Park — where tens of thousands of people enjoyed her hits from her 1971 album, Tapestry — will be released on YouTube on Saturday to mark a decade since the show.

The concert film aptly named, Carole King: Tapestry – Captured Live at Hyde Park London is complete with interviews from King herself along with celebrities like Tom Hanksand Elton John, who not only attended the show but introduced the iconic songwriter to the stage.

"I knew that there would be a great crowd, I didn't know how great a crowd it would be" she said in the trailer. "It was huge, it was like 60,000 people?"

She was then corrected from a behind-the-camera voice, letting her know there were 65,000 attendees.

"65! Even better!" she said.

According to the BBC, the last time King performed in London, before the Hyde Park concert, was over 20 years prior in 1989.

Tapestry, which is also marking 55 years since its release, includes her famed songs including "I Feel The Earth Move," "You've Got a Friend," and "It's Too Late."

"It is remarkable to me that Tapestry is still resonating with people and into the youngest generations" King said in the clip. "I saw really young teenagers mouthing the words, it brings generations together."

"Tapestry became a part of our life, it became a tapestry of our lives in fact," John said, adding later in the trailer, "I can't thank her enough because without her I would have never wanted to write songs."

Hanks referred to the album as one, "that you could not escape, that entered into the zeitgeist, that became the stuff of our DNA."

"The music lifted you up," he said in another scene.

The concert film had a one-night showing in U.S. movie theaters in 2017 and went on to be released on DVD and Blu-ray.

There have been many cases where artists have proven that the record labels know what they’re doing, and the case of “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath is one of them.

The track, which was written in five minutes (or 25 minutes, depending on the band member you ask), was only supposed to be a filler track. Well, the riff itself took five to 25 minutes. The lyrics took a little longer, but it was still a blast compared to other songs. In the end, it became the first track to hit the charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

“Paranoid” was included on the second studio album, titled the same name as the track. That has its own story, as Black Sabbath didn’t want the album to go by that name. With hits like “War Pigs” and “Iron Man” on the album, they were sure that one of those would make for a better name. There was also the fact that “War Pigs” would be a little too offensive, especially during that time period!

The record label disagreed. While “Paranoid” may have been quickly put together and added more as filler — because the album was around three minutes too short — the label knew that it would make an excellent hit on the radio. Sure enough, it placed fourth on the UK charts and hit 61 on the Billboard charts in the U.S.

Guitar Worldlooked back on a 2004 interview with bassist Geezer Butler, who explained that after spending two or three days recording the album, he and guitarist Tony Iommi put everything together. "The song ‘Paranoid’ was written as an afterthought. We basically needed a three-minute filler for the album, and Tony came up with the riff. I quickly did the lyrics, and Ozzy was reading them as he was singing."

However, there was pushback after recording it. Both Butler and Osbourne were concerned it sounded too much like a Led Zeppelin song, and they worried that people would complain.

“Paranoid” has since climbed the charts, even hitting the No. 1 spot in 2025 on the UK Rock and Metal charts. It hit No. 8 on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart in the U.S. The track would be the final song Black Sabbath would play live with Osbourne still singing live. He died just 17 days after the final performance.

The IMO podcast with Obama, 62, and her brother Craig Robinson had Quinta Brunsonon as a guest. Robinson, 64, asked them to choose between sitcom or reality TV.

"The other answer, sitcom," Brunson, 36, answered, "Hate reality TV." That shouldn't be a surprise since she's the creator of Abbott Elementary.

"I mean as much as I love reality TV there's nothing like a good--," Obama said before Brunson cut her off to ask about her interest in unscripted TV.

"I consider it part of my major as sociology," Obama explained. "It's just a study of people and they are fascinating." The show creator asked if she watched Love Island.

"Yeah, I do," she answered and made a facial expression like it was a silly question. "That's mother-daughter time because and they're behind. They got me hooked." Malia and Sasha Obama told their mother that they've been busy and haven't watched new episodes. "You need to get some more free time," she said.

Malia, 27, graduated from Harvard and then was a staff writer on Swarm starring Dominique Fishback. She released a 18-minute short film in 2023 called The Heart. It was shown at film festivals in the following year. There was some controversy that she went by "Malia Ann" professionally. Her mother publicly supported her decision.

"Malia, who started in film, I mean, her first project, she took off her last name," she said on the Sibling Rivalry podcast. "And we’re like, ‘They’re still going to know it’s you, Malia.’ But we respect that she’s trying to make her way."

Sasha, 25, started her university career at the University of Michigan, then transferred to the University of Southern California, where she earned her bachelor's degree in sociology, according to the Los Angeles Times in 2023. It's unknown if or where she's working.

The daughters were seen with their parents at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on June 18. Their mother gave a tribute to them at the event, according to ELLE.

"To our daughters, Malia and Sasha, who will always be my babies," she said. "Even though we’re no longer playing hide and seek on the South Lawn with Bo, or hosting sleepovers in the solarium … You both have grown into such brilliant and beautiful young women, making your way out there in the world. Thank you for bringing so much joy and spirit and energy to a life you had no voice in choosing and for making us proud every step of the way."

Lindsay Lohan is celebrating her 40th birthday today, on July 2nd.

The Mean Girls actress celebrated the milestone on Facebook for changing "everything in the most meaningful ways."

In the post, she celebrated life as a wife and mother and said she "understood a deeper kind of love, one that reshaped what matters most."

"Returning to Freakier Fridayfelt like a full-circle moment, a reminder of where I began and how much I've grown along the way. I'm no longer searching for who I am, I'm living it. Choosing family, choosing purpose, and creating a life that feels as good as it looks," she added,

Lohan wed financier Bader Shammas in 2022. In July 2023, the actress gave birth to their son in Dubai, where she has lived since 2014.

As for her 20s, Lohan wrote on Facebook and Instagram that she felt "unstoppable, exposed, becoming iconic."

"Everything moved fast, often faster than I could process," she reflected on her social media. "Mean Girls became a voice for a generation, Herbie: Fully Loaded carried me into something bigger, brighter, louder."

Ahead of her birthday, the Freaky Friday star told People she was "feeling great" as she headed into her 40s.

"I don't feel it internally, so that's great," she told the outlet. "I'm excited. My life is great, and I'm very grateful, and I'm just very happy. Looking forward to it."

The actress said she was planning to celebrate the milestone "just with family and close friends."

On July 2, 1988—38 years ago today—Michael Jackson's smash hit rock song "Dirty Diana," from his celebrated album Bad, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. While that was an accomplishment in and of itself, this milestone also set an all-time Billboard Hot 100 record, and even today, only one artist has ever tied it.

With "Dirty Diana," Jackson had officially become the first artist to ever have five No. 1 hits on one album. The other Bad songs that had already hit No. 1 at that point were the title song "Bad," "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Man in the Mirror." Although "Dirty Diana" spent just one week at No. 1, it's clear Bad's hit songs were competing with one another for that top spot.

"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel" each also spent one week at No. 1, but "Bad" and "Man in the Mirror" both maintained the position for two weeks, respectively. These songs also aren't Jackson's best-performing chart toppers. "Billie Jean" and "Black or White" each spent a staggering seven weeks in the No. 1 spot, and "Say Say Say" wasn't far behind with six weeks at No. 1.

Clearly, the King of Pop frequently dominated the charts, and even today, no one has broken his record of five No. 1 hits on a single album. However, in 2011, one surprising artist did tie with Jackson—and she's the only one to ever do it.

Namely, Katy Perry's 2010 album Teenage Dream had five No. 1 hits: "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)," "California Gurls," "Firework," "E.T." and the title track, "Teenage Dream." It was the first, however, that officially tied Jackson's record, as that was Perry's fifth No. 1 hit from Teenage Dream, which topped the chart on Aug. 27, 2011.

Later, her song "Part of Me" was released as part of the Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection expanded deluxe re-release, but that did not break Jackson's record, as she did not have six No. 1 hits from one single release.

Nearly four decades after launching his recording career, Paul Laine is opening an exciting new chapter.

The veteran Canadian rocker has announced his new solo album, The Long Road Back, which will arrive on Sept. 25 via Frontiers Music Srl. To coincide with the announcement, Laine also released the album's lead single, "Love Me Or Leave Me," giving fans their first taste of his latest collection of melodic rock songs.

Laine shared his excitement about returning to his solo roots.

"I'm so happy to launch a new era in my solo career with my new single 'Love Me Or Leave Me,'" Laine said in a statement. "I feel like I finally got a chance to pick up where I left off all those years ago, when I finished making Stick It In Your Ear. Come join me on my new musical journey with The Long Road Back album. Laine first emerged on the rock scene in 1989, earning recognition for his powerful vocals before becoming one of melodic rock's most respected frontmen. He gained widespread attention as the lead singer of Danger Danger during the 1990s, recording acclaimed albums including Dawn and Cockroach. He later co-founded the melodic rock supergroup The Defiants, further cementing his reputation among fans of the genre.

Beyond his work as a performer, Laine has built an impressive career as a songwriter and producer, collaborating with numerous artists across the melodic rock and hard rock worlds. His combination of soaring vocals and hook-driven songwriting has made him a favorite among fans long after the commercial peak of the genre.

The Long Road Back marks Laine's first new solo studio album since 1996 and represents a return to the style that first established him as a standout vocalist. "I think any artist who cares about their art feels pressure to better themselves on the next release," Laine told Classic Rock in 2026. I am proud of those records, as I also am of the Shugaazer album I released in 2004. I've never really felt a need to compromise in this industry."

More than half of U.S. adults take medication to control their blood pressure. If you're one of them, you may come across advice on something else you can take for your health without a prescription: Supplements.

Supplements are often polarizing, especially online. Some people pitch them as "natural" and miracles for everything from heart health to overall longevity. Others warn they're all woo-woo and unproven health aids. As a cardiologist at Memorial Hermann, Dr. Majid Basit, MD, counsels patients from an empowering middle ground.

"Supplements are heavily marketed on social media and varying forms of advertising where manufacturers and promoters exaggerate their benefits while downplaying risks," he points out. "As a cardiologist, my goal for my patients is to find a balance between prescribed medications and over-the-counter supplements."

It's worth having this conversation with your cardiologist or primary care doctor who prescribes your blood pressure medication. Dr. Basit notes that supplements aren't as tightly regulated as prescription medications. Quality and dosing may vary, so different brands of the same supplement may have different effects. Plus, some supplements can have negative side effects if you're already taking blood pressure medication.

"The consequences can range from a medication being less effective to side effects becoming more intense or even dangerous," points out Dr. Mary Greene, MD, a cardiologist with Manhattan Cardiology and contributor to labfinder.com. "Just because something is 'natural' or sold over the counter doesn't mean it's automatically safe to combine with prescription medications."

One supplement is hailed as heart-healthy. But cardiologists warn against taking it if you're on blood pressure medication without talking to a doctor first. Below, they explain the what and why.

The Supplement To Avoid Taking With Blood Pressure Medication, Cardiologists Say

Cardiologists warn against taking fish oil with blood pressure medication without speaking to your doctor. Fish oil is often billed as a heart-healthy supplement, and consuming omega-3s may lower the risk of cardiovascular issues (including death). But it can have negative effects if you're on blood pressure medication.

Below, cardiologists explain what happens to blood pressure if you combine fish oil supplements with hypertension medications.

1. Fish oil may have a blood-thinning effect

"Fish oil can have a mild blood-thinning effect," says Dr. Kevin Shah, MD, a board-certified cardiologist and the program director of heart failure outreach at MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute at Long Beach Medical Center. 

He says that most data indicate that bleeding doesn't occur at typical dose recommendations, but higher-dose EPA fish oil supplements may slightly increase the risk.

"Higher doses of the supplement increase the bleeding risk more than lower doses," Dr. Shah clarifies.

2. It may lower blood pressure too much

"Fish oil can lower blood pressure slightly when it’s combined with blood pressure medications," Dr. Shah says.

The goal of blood pressure medication is to lower blood pressure to a healthy range (less than 120/80 mm Hg, but not lower than 90/60 mm Hg). Fish oil can have that effect on people taking medications for hypertension.

"Fish oil may help blood vessels relax and widen due to a process driven by prostaglandin, which relaxes blood pressure," Dr. Greene says. "When stacked on top of medication that's already doing the same job, this can lead to blood pressure dropping too low, causing dizziness, light-headedness or fainting."

Data suggest that 2 to 3 grams per day of combined EPA and DHA supplements can lower blood pressure by about 2 points systolic and 2.5 points diastolic in people with hypertension.

3. You may take too much fish oil with BP medications

Dr. Greene is also concerned about the "more is better" approach some people take toward supplements. "People often assume that if a little fish oil is good, more must be better, leading them to take high doses on top of their heart medications without telling their doctor."

4. It might be rancid

And now for arguably the least appetizing risk of fish oil and blood pressure medications: Some supplements may be rancid.

"Because omega-3 fatty acids are highly unsaturated chemical structures, they are exceptionally prone to degradation when exposed to light, heat, and air—a process known as oxidation," points out Dr. Patrick Kee, MD, Ph.D., a preventive cardiologist at Vital Heart & Vein. "When fish oil oxidizes, it becomes rancid, which can alter its biological activity."

Dr. Kee says large assessments of North American over-the-counter supplements suggest that "a substantial percentage of commercial supplements exceed voluntary international guidelines for oxidative freshness." Unfortunately, rancid oils can wipe out any heart-friendly benefits. Prescription formulas must adhere to stricter processing controls and barrier packaging to reduce oxidation risks.

Can You Ever Take Fish Oil While on Blood Pressure Medication?

Most cardiologists won't say that you can never take fish oil if you're on blood pressure medication. But they stop short of issuing blanket recommendations on whether it's right for everyone (or at what doses), because fish and blood pressure medications can interact.

"In most cases, it’s safe," Dr. Shah notes. "Fish oil lowers blood pressure modestly—usually only a few mmHg. The main caution is for people who already have low blood pressure on multiple medications."

For this reason, it's vital to speak with your specific cardiologist before taking fish oil supplements when you're already on hypertension medications.

"Always consult with your healthcare professional before adding any supplements to your routine, and promptly report any side effects—such as dizziness, light-headedness or unusual bruising—so your doctor can monitor for potential medication interactions," Dr. Kee stresses.

Why You May Not Even Need Fish Oil for Heart Health

Instead of fish oil supplements, cardiologists recommend improving your heart health through diet and other lifestyle tweaks.

"There is no need to use over-the-counter fish oil supplements if your diet is well-balanced," Dr. Kee reports. "The immense cardiovascular benefits of omega-3 fatty acids are best obtained directly from dietary sources."

He points to The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which recommends adults eat at least eight ounces of a variety of seafood per week for essential nutrients and heart health benefits. 

Dr. Greene says great sources of EPA and DHA are:

• Salmon
• Mackerel
• Herring
• Sardines
• Anchovies
• Albacore tuna

Other lifestyle improvements also have more backing than fish oil for heart health.

"Fundamental changes in...exercise, weight and blood pressure lead to a much greater benefit to overall health," Dr. Basit adds. "Smoking cessation and treatment of diseases like high cholesterol and diabetes have been shown to provide a significant reduction in cardiovascular events like heart attack and stroke."

Kid Rockand Donald Trump appear thicker than thieves, as the musician opens up about his friendship with the president and his late-night phone calls with him.

In an interview with Sky News Australia, per Rolling Stone, Kid Rock sat down with host Paul Murray as part of a one-hour special, Trump’s America: 250 Years in the Making. When asked what it's like to have a friend who's "running the world," Kid Rock answered that it's "f*cking awesome."

The musician has been an open supporter of Trump since his first presidential term, and even headlined an "All-American Halftime Show" during Super Bowl LX. “If I’m sitting around having some beers, if it’s like 11, 12 on a Friday or Saturday, I know he’s up. He sleeps like me, he sleeps five hours."

Fitness guru Brooke Burke is opening up about menopause. In fact, the beauty referred to it as "sexy."

In a new interview with USA Today Shopping, Burke, 53, opened up about her own experience navigating the change, and shared that “it can be sexy.”

“I started noticing brain fog, fatigue, disrupted sleep… and I thought, is this just my 40s?” Burke shared, noting that the worst part was that the topic seemed untouched. “We didn’t have a language for it. There was a little bit of shame, a little bit of mystery… people just weren’t talking about it."

Burke is choosing to speak about menopause to destigmatize the experience. She's backing a new Menopause Time Off initiative that highlights just how much women are struggling at work, the piece continued.

What Does Brooke Burke Think About Ozempic?

In a previous interview with Page Six, Burke shared how she feels about the use of drugs like Ozempic for weight loss. She explained that it's  "not necessarily sustainable" to simply take a medication like Ozempic, which can cause rapid weight loss, without caring for other aspects of your health. But in contrast to several fitness pros, like Jillian Michaels, who has spoken out against drugs like Ozempic, Burke says she's "not mad at it."

"So when it comes to the world of Ozempic, which has changed the landscape of obesity, I'm not mad at it, I'll be really honest," Burke shared. "But I'm not mad at it if someone is disciplined enough to weight train, to do their blood work and to eat. What drives me crazy is people that want a quick fix, they want to starve their body and they don't understand the value of weight training."

It's the people who take these drugs but neglect weight training and proper nutrition that end up in trouble, said Burke.

"We're seeing this depleted look because people are losing their appetite. That's the hormone, right? It helps you curb your appetite. They're not eating. That's terrible for your metabolism. That is terrible for everything," she explained. "I know we wanna cheat the system as Americans; we do. We're looking for that quick fix; it's not necessarily sustainable."

A voluntary recall has been issued for a shampoo sold at popular retailers like Walmart and Sephora due to the detection of bacteria that could cause infection in people with weakened immune systems. 

The Food and Drug Administration announced that Kao USA Inc. has recalled certain lots of 8.5-ounce and 33.8-ounce bottles of Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo in both the United States and Canada after the detection of Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria.

“Though Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria pose little medical risk to healthy people, those with certain health issues such as weakened immune systems may be more susceptible to infection by the bacteria,” states the FDA recall notice.

The inspection is ongoing, but Kao USA urges anyone who has the affected product to discontinue use. In addition to being sold at retailers like Walmart and Sephora, the shampoo can also be purchased at stores like Nordstrom and Bluemercury.

Can You Freeze Watermelon?

"Watermelon is 92% water, so it absolutely will freeze," says Stephanie Barlow, Senior Director of Communications at The National Watermelon Promotion Board. Barlow has 20 years of watermelon experience, so she knows her stuff. "Whether you're freezing blended up juice or puree in an ice cube tray or pieces of watermelon, it will turn from flesh to frozen," she says. 

One thing to note right off the bat: For the best taste and texture, it's best to eat or use frozen watermelon while it's still frozen. That means using watermelon puree or juice ice cubes in drinks, tossing frozen chunks into smoothies, etc. You can thaw frozen watermelon pieces, but the texture and taste won't be the same, so you'll have more limited options in how you can use it.

And no matter what watermelon form you're going for (chunks, melon balls, puree or juice), start by removing the seeds. If you have a seedless watermelon, that job's already been done for you. 

One thing to note: It's not a good idea to freeze a whole watermelon because it will be nearly impossible to cut when it's a gigantic oval ice ball and who has the room in the freezer anyway? Curious about freezing forms of watermelon? Here's what you need to know. 

How To Freeze Watermelon Chunks

To freeze watermelon chunks, you’ll need a cutting board, a knife and a baking tray lined with parchment paper or plastic wrap.

First, use the cutting board and knife to cut the watermelon into pieces, slicing off any rind. If the watermelon has any seeds, remove them.

Place the chunks on the parchment-lined tray, making sure they don’t touch, before placing the uncovered tray in the freezer. Let the chunks freeze until solid, which should take 1-2 hours. Once the chunks are frozen, transfer them to an airtight container, such as a zip-top bag, and store them in the freezer. Be sure to mark the date on the container so you'll know how long they've been in the deep freeze. 

How To Freeze Watermelon Balls or Cubes

If you want to make cute watermelon balls or more precise cubes, you can prep the fruit and then freeze it using the same method you would for watermelon chunks. 

How To Freeze Watermelon Puree

Simply puree the watermelon in a blender or food processor before pouring the puree into an ice cube tray or an airtight container, giving around an inch of space for the frozen watermelon to expand.

How To Freeze Watermelon Juice

You can absolutely freeze watermelon juice. Just make watermelon puree and then use a fine mesh strainer to separate the pulp from the juice. Transfer to ice cube trays or another airtight container. If you go the container route, leave some room for the liquid to expand.

How Long Can You Freeze Watermelon?

Like a lot of freezer-related questions, there's a difference between "can" and "should" when it comes to timing. Although some sources say you can store frozen watermelon chunks for up to 8 months, Barlow recommends trying to use frozen watermelon within a couple of weeks, if you can. 

Barlow suggests using watermelon puree or juice that's frozen in ice cube trays even more quickly. "I’ve experienced watermelon puree in an ice cube tray breaking down after a few weeks, much like regular ice cubes when they're forgotten about, so the best practice is to use them within a week," she says. 

If you choose to freeze your watermelon longer, just use your eyes, nose (and common sense) to see if it seems ok to eat.

How To Thaw Frozen Watermelon

Barlow would suggest skipping the thawed watermelon. "We don’t recommend trying to thaw it," she says. "The watermelon taste, texture and color changes when it's frozen and it’s rather unappealing when you thaw it. The texture and taste are off. Can you thaw it and use it? Yes, but I don’t recommend it. Taste at your own risk." 

If you do want to thaw frozen watermelon, you can thaw it in the fridge and then puree it. The soggy texture is definitely not something you're going to want to use in something like a fruit salad.

How To Use Frozen Watermelon

Here are some delicious ideas for using your frozen stash. 

Barlow likes to add watermelon juice ice cubes to her iced tea or sparkling water. "My favorite is our frozen watermelon margarita or a simple slushy," she says. "It’s great to have on hand for a nutrient boost and cold texture for my morning smoothies to get a burst of lycopene, vitamin C, vitamin A and B6."

Gabriel Urrutia, award-winning mixologist and author of Miami Cocktails: An Elegant Collection of over 100 Recipes inspired by the Magic City, loves using watermelon ice cubes in drinks. “It goes great into a Collins, an Aperol Spritz, or even a summer take on a Negroni,” he says.

For a simple frozen drink, Urrutia recommends blending watermelon ice cubes with 3 cups watermelon, 1 cup water, ¼ cup agave syrup and ¼ cup fresh lime juice to make an agua fresca. “Add some mezcal and you’re ready to rock,” he says. 

Will Simpson, beverage director at Chicheria Mexican Kitchen in Atlanta, likes to use watermelon ice cubes to make brunch a little more fun by adding them to mimosas.

If you want to turn your frozen watermelon into a fun and easy dessert, you can freeze larger pieces or wedges and shave the frozen fruit into a bowl using a Microplane grater for an almost-instant shaved ice a la one of our favorite food creators, Frankie Gaw.

Kyle Cooke and Ava Dash haven't confirmed they're dating, but the newly single Summer House star was spotted kissing the Next Gen NYC newcomer in the Hamptons, sparking a wave of reactions from Bravo fans.

“We were out with multiple friends, at a dive bar,” Kyle said. “This was not a date situation, just having fun. But, she’s a great girl.”

He also clarified what happened with King, saying he had only just met her.

“I didn’t know who she was. Introduced myself,” Kyle recounted. “We ended up at a Page Six party, then an after party.”

Another common reaction centered on the pair's age difference. “She is 26 and he’s 43. Just a gentle reminder that when he was graduating high school, she was quite literally being born,” one person wrote on Instagram.

“Omg noooo, Ava is way too young for him!!!!” another commenter added.

Still, plenty of fans were rooting for the pair.

In early 2026, Henault announced she was starting a new chapter in her career.

"After years creating within incredible teams, I’m now focused on connecting brands, artists, and global communities through culture, experience, and vision," she wrote in a LinkedIn post. "Open to collaborations, direction projects, cultural advisory, and partnerships in art, music, fashion, wellness, and global lifestyle."
