German Shepherd Fosters Fluffy Kittens Like Best Stepmom Ever
Some dogs are natural-born nurturers. Breed can have a lot to do with it, but it's also the way they've grown up. Pups in loving, supportive environments are almost always the ones who'll welcome any newbies with open paws.
When German Shepherd Kaia first laid her eyes on her cat sibling's new brood, she wasted no time volunteering to help out in any way possible. Whether it's gathering everyone for a nap, being the fun aunt they can climb on as they learn to walk, or telling the humans (or cat mom Athena) of the house that it's time to check on the babies, this is one pup deserving of a celebratory Mother's Day this year.

The kittens were born in late February and are now looking for homes, in case anyone out in Houston is looking to add a new member to the family. Potty-trained, smart, and dog-friendly (obviously!), you couldn't ask for a better feline companion, all raised by an affectionate cat and one amazing German Shepherd!

Tiny Elderly Chihuahua Quacks Like a Duck and We’re Confused
You think you know what a dog sounds like. Barking. Maybe a little yipping. Standard issue dog noises. And then Hannah shows up and completely rewrites the rules.
The caption doesn’t even need to do much because the second you hear her, you understand. This tiny, elderly, black-and-white Chihuahua is out here making noises that are… not barking. Not quite squeaking. Somewhere between a quack and a broken toy demanding attention from their mama. Trust me, you're gonna wanna turn up your volume for this one.

It’s aggressive. It’s passionate. It’s… duck adjacent.
The people in the comments absolutely ran with it.

“Just yeeffin and yaffin,” one person wrote, which feels like the correct technical term.
“Ma’am, your squeaky toy is broken,” another added, which is rude but also not wrong.
“That’s a weird duck,” which… yes. Exactly.
“The concepts of borking,” which I feel like we're redefining in real time.
“Literally just arffin around!” and “Just a yippin and a yappin,” which somehow still don’t fully capture what’s happening here.
“I like your duck,” which is now how I will be referring to her.
“Nothing makes me more happy than a loved and respected Chihuahua,” which is actually very sweet and very true.
And then, “I want to want a majestic Bernese Mountain Dog, but what I really want is a tiny, weird little goblin,” which might be the most honest thing anyone has ever said.
I keep replaying the sound because it somehow gets stranger every time. Like if our own dog made this noise, I would simply sit down and rethink everything I know.

They can be great companions if you’re looking for a smaller pup with a lot of personality, but they do need proper socialization and training to help manage things like barking or nervous behavior.
Chihuahuas also tend to be very alert and vocal, which means they're not shy about letting you know how they feel… as clearly demonstrated here.

7 Reasons Your Dog Sleeps at the Foot of Your Bed
If you're a pet parent and your dog consistently chooses to doze off on the foot of your bed over snuggling up beside you, you’re not alone. This common sleeping habit is more than just a quirky preference—it often reflects instinct, comfort and is also a form of communication. Dogs are highly intentional about where they sleep, and their choice of spot can reveal a lot about how they feel in your home. If you notice that your pups always naps in this spot, read on to learn 7 strange and cute reasons your dog sleeps at the foot of your bed, according to a pet behaviorist.
Understanding your dog’s sleeping position can give you valuable insight into your pup's behavior, emotional security and natural instincts. So, while it may seem like a funny habit, choosing to go to sleep at the foot of your bed can be linked to much more. The good news is, there several common reasons behind this dog behavior and once you know what they are, you can better understand why your furry companion does what they do.
After all, since dogs can't speak like people can, sometimes pet parents have to decode their body language to find out what a dog’s sleeping position means. So, if you've ever thought to yourself, "Why does my dog sleep at the end of my bed?" read on to find out.

What It Means When Your Dog Only Sleeps at the Foot of Your Bed A dog sleeping at the end of the bed on it's owner's feet. There's nothing more adorable than seeing a dog fast asleep. However, knowing what your dog’s sleep habits mean can also help you spot potential health issues early and ensure your dog is happy and comfortable. Find out what it means when you dog sleeps at the end of the bed, below.
You’re Part of Their PackOne cute reason your dog likes to sleep at the foot of your bed has to do with how close they are to you. Dogs are incredibly social animals that see their human companions as one of their own and as their family. Therefore, pack instinct in domestic dogs are common when it comes to their sleeping habits. “Dogs are pack animals and their owner is considered a part of their pack,” says Sally Grottini, dog training expert at JustAnswer. “When a dog is among those they consider their pack, they are more at ease and comfortable.”
This sleeping position strikes the perfect balance of allowing them to stay close to you while still maintaining a sense of independence. Many dogs naturally seek this balance, especially those with a strong attachment to their owners as its essentially pack bonding in their mind.
They Want to Have Optimal ViewpointsDogs are instinctively alert, even while asleep. Positioning themselves at the foot of the bed gives them a clear, often unobstructed view of the room and any movement around them, which is one reason why dogs sleep at the foot of the bed or choose to sleep close to their owners. “This allows them the freedom to jump up to protect their pack,” Grottini says. How sweet is that? It lets you know they are taking on a guard dog role and demonstrating a dog protective behavior by choosing to sleep in that spot.
This dog behavior is rooted in natural protective instincts. Even domesticated dogs have a sense of responsibility to watch over their environment. By staying at your feet, your dog can relax while still being primed to respond if something seems off. It just shows how much your dog loves you.
They Love Your ScentYou scent is another strange and cute reason your dog likes to fall asleep at the end of your bed. You see, how you smell plays a powerful role in your dog’s sense of security, which helps explain why some dogs like to sleep at the end of the bed with their owner. The bedroom, and especially a person's bed, is full of familiar smells that can help your dog feel calm and connected to you.
“Unlike other rooms in your home, a bedroom is filled prominently with your scent, from clothing to shoes to the bedspread,” Grottini says. “This gives a dog a sense of comfort and makes the dog feel closer to the owner.”
This reflects common dog attachment behavior and natural canine bonding behavior, where scent acts as reassurance and emotional grounding. It also ties into broader dog sleeping positions meaning, as dogs often choose locations that maximize comfort and proximity. Overall, the foot of the bed allows your dog to stay close to you thanks to that comforting scent without being directly on top of you. This can be especially important for dogs that experience anxiety.

They Want to Regulate Their Body TemperatureTemperature regulation is another major factor that dictates where dogs sleep. Dogs are sensitive to heat and will actively seek out cooler areas when they need to. “Many dogs will lie at the foot of the bed to keep cool on the floor,” Grottini describes. “If a dog is actually lying on the bed, the foot area of the bed offers the most air flow to help regulate body temperature.”
The end of the bed is typically cooler than the middle or head area, which retains heat. This allows your dog to stay comfortable throughout the night without overheating, especially during warmer months or in a room that’s prone to trapping heat.
They Need More SpaceSize matters when it comes to sleeping preferences, which is one reason why dogs sleep at the foot of the bed instead of directly beside their owners. “For some dogs, especially large dogs, the foot of the bed simply offers the most room for a dog to lie in,” Grottini says.
It can also reflect broader canine behavior patterns, where comfort and proximity are both important factors in sleep placement. After all, this dog sleeping position allows them to stretch their legs and adjust positions with ease without disturbing you. It’s a practical, thoughtful choice that helps both you and your dog sleep more soundly.
They’re Marking Their TerritoryDogs have a natural instinct to mark their territory, even in subtle ways. Sleeping at the end of the bed allows them to leave their scent in a shared space, something pet owners often find a bit funny or odd because it sounds far more dramatic than what’s actually happening.
As Grottini explains, “It’s to leave their scent for other animals in the home.” This dog behavior isn’t about dominance, but rather creating a sense of familiarity and ownership within their environment. By resting at the foot of your bed, your dog is reinforcing their place within the home and their bond with you.
They’re Trained to Lie at Your FeetIn some cases, this adorable dog behavior isn’t just instinctive, but intentional and trained behavior. For instance, service dogs or dogs trained for specific purposes can be taught to sleep at the foot of the bed. This is especially common for people with PTSD or other conditions who may require assistance during the night.
“This allows a dog quick access to wake their owner up should the owner be going through night terrors,” Grottini says.
These dogs are highly trained to respond quickly and effectively. Sleeping in an owner's bed ensures they’re in a position where they can act immediately if needed while still resting themselves.

Shelter German Shepherd Begs Human To Hold His Paw and Gets the Happiest Ending
Most people who love dogs would adopt every single shelter dog in the world if we could. In my dreams, I have all the money in the world, and the entire sum of it is used to care for millions of puppies!
Unfortunately, reality isn't so kind. Recently, one shelter German Shepherd was in a race against the clock: he was going to be euthanized. He wouldn't let anything get him down, though, and always had his paws out! He just wanted a human to hold them:
@hicarsondogssUPDATE: RESCUED 💓 I’ve never actually met Rufus outside of his kennel… but every volunteer here loves him and you can tell why. In his kennel, he doesn’t bark. He doesn’t jump. He doesn’t lunge. He just sits there… with his paws reaching out… watching people walk by with the sweetest, most soulful eyes. Rufus is 5 years old and came in as a stray on March 23rd, so we don’t know much about his past. But what we do know is that German Shepherds are one of the most loyal breeds they’re meant to have a person. And it’s just not fair that he’s sitting in a kennel with no one to love. Rufus will be euthanized in 72 hours. . Available for adoption at Carson Animal Shelter Monday–Saturday, 11am–5pm In person adoptions only, please do not call,, just show up! Animal ID: 85764681
♬ original sound - ☾⋆。𖦹 °✩Jan from the Carson Animal Shelter is a massive part of the reason Rufus was able to get adopted before he was euthanized. This was the first video she posted of this sweet boy, and it got thousands of views: that's thousands of potential adopters seeing how sweet he was.
When she posted the video, he had just hours left before being euthanized due to overcrowding. Though it's definitely not ideal, it's the reality for hundreds of dogs every year, especially in heavily populated areas like LA County, where the Carson Animal Shelter is.

They only take in-person adoptees, so she was very clear that whoever was going to adopt Rufus needed to show up ready to rock, and someone did! There isn't really any follow-up beyond her saying he's been rescued, but that's all we need! Plenty of other animals at Carson still need homes, though, including this sweet pup:
@hicarsondogssUPDATE: ADOPTED ❤️ 🚨 FINAL NOTICE 🚨 If Blue hasn’t hit your FYP, I hope he does this time! 😢He’s only a year old, and he’s been at our shelter since February 20th making him one of the longest residents here. He came in as a stray, so we don’t know much about his past. But we do know this: he’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and just wants to be close to you. He has medium energy, prefers female dogs, and he gets a little excited on leash and could use some leash training…but that’s what happens when you only get out of your kennel once a week. He can be a little jumpy, so keep that in mind with small kids but honestly, it feels more like bottled up joy than anything else. After months of being overlooked, Blue has 72 hours left. He will be walked into a room, and then he will be gone forever. All because people keep scrolling past dogs like him. If you feel even the smallest pull to help Blue or any euthanasia listed pit bull please don’t wait. Don’t overthink it 😢Just come meet them. Blue is available for adoption at the Carson Animal Shelter. Animal ID: A5756898 Open Monday–Saturday, 11 AM to 5 PM Adoptions are in person only, no need to call ahead.
♬ original sound - 𝕃𝕪𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕤 - user31218590737I am not strong enough for this. People like Jan are actual angels on earth, I'm pretty sure. To be able to show up for all of these dogs is a super-power!
German Shepherds Are Commonly EuthanizedAs awful as it is, there are thousands of shelters out there that euthanize animals (not just dogs!) due to over-crowding and under-funding. It's less common in some areas than in others: areas with fewer people often have fewer "kill" shelters, though almost all pounds, or "municipal shelters," practice euthanasia.

German Shepherds are one of the most commonly surrendered and subsequently euthanized dog breeds. They're frequently surrendered because of their:
- Size.
- Tendency for behavioral issues.
- High-energy.
- Medical issues.
German Shepherds are amazing dogs, but they require a ton of work, which a lot of people just don't realize. If you want to get one, please, please check out local shelters first: it's almost a guarantee that you'll be able to find one! You could save a life.

Pit Bull Won’t Get in the Bath Until Her Song Comes On
Bath time with dogs can be a challenge, especially for pups who aren’t exactly thrilled about getting soaped up. As a mom of a severe allergy dog, we do it twice a week, so I’ve learned to save his favorite treats for right before we head in.
But every dog has their own routine.
For Zara, the Pit Bull, that means her tune. She likes to have her disco jam playing before getting into the tub. And considering music sets the mood for us, whether it’s yacht rock by the water, a high-energy workout playlist, or a road trip soundtrack, it’s not all that surprising that our dogs respond to it too.
But it’s her song choice that makes this one even better.
You can see it in this April 8 TikTok from @zarathepit:
@zarathepitThe kids yearn for disco #dogsoftiktok #funnypet #funnydogs #bathtime #pitbulls
♬ original sound - Zara the Pit🩶🐾Before her “car wash” song came on, Zara didn’t look all that interested in bath time. But the second those first notes hit, she hopped right in, taking her time and waiting for the lyrics to start. Clearly, she just needed a little hype before getting washed up.
Her mom even has a custom version just for her, singing “Zar wash” as Zara leans in for kisses. She clearly knows the routine and is fully here for it.

Viewers had a lot to say about it.
@Rayne wrote, “Could you imagine explaining this to a dog sitter? I would die of laughter.” Considering some things I’ve had to explain to dog sitters, it could be worse.
@Coopa shared, “My Pit Bull gets very upset if we don’t put Doctor Phil on for her in the morning. Pit bulls are weird.” Weird, wonderful, and very smart.
@KellyLynn added, “I sing OutKast’s ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ when I wash my dogs. They are not amused.” Ha! In my house, once bath time is over, I break into Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” before toweling off my Burton. And yes, he knows exactly when to shake.

Bath time can be stressful for dogs who don’t love water, but routines like this can make a big difference. When they know what to expect, it feels a little less overwhelming and a lot more manageable for everyone involved.
And when your dog has a favorite song to go with it, even something like bath time becomes a little more fun.
Teacup Yorkie With Gorgeous Long Hair Looks Like Rapunzel and a 'Ball of Golden Silk'
Certain dog breeds have head-turning hair. Whether it's the dotted pattern of a Dapple Dachshund or the super fluffy fur of a Bernese Mountain Dog, canines often boast coats that are noticeably coiffed.
Bella the Teacup Yorkie has a gorgeous mane of honey-colored fur, prompting people to ask for her hair care secrets.

Her mom began combing her long, golden locks to remove any tangles. The glimmering shine on those gorgeous strands could light up an entire room. The Yorkie was completely relaxed as her mom sectioned her hair for a braid.
The length of Bella's hair was impressive, almost like a princess in a storybook or Disney film. Her mom must have considered cutting it, because she asked followers their opinion.
"Half of you said cut it... half said trim," the onscreen text shared, with the caption adding, "I did the tiniest trim… but I’m still undecided."
Regardless, Bella's hair was truly stunning. Her mom completed the long braid and gave her facial fur a fluff. Bella's beauty treatment concluded with some paw and belly rubs for that full serenity vibe. The pretty pooch was perfectly primped like she was a movie star.
Followers were big fans of Bella's lustrous fur and wanted to know what hair products she uses.
"Ok, I'm sorry, why does a dog have better hair than me?" someone asked.
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!" another joked.
"What conditioner does she use? Asking for myself," a follower inquired.
"I’m showing my hairstylist this video," one remarked.
"She looks like a little ball of golden silk," a fan posted.
How Fast Does a Yorkie's Hair Grow?Bella's mom may decide to give her a good trim when the weather gets warmer, and wouldn't have to wait too long for it to grow back. A Yorkie's hair grows faster than that of other dogs, averaging 1/4 to 1/2 inch per month. An adult Yorkie that measures six or seven inches at the withers could grow a floor-length coat in approximately 8 to 10 months.

Persian Tuxedo Cat Looks Like He Stuck a Fork in an Outlet and We’re Here for It
Super fluffy cats are so amazing. They're simply perfect, especially if they have really grumpy faces. They just always look like they have somewhere more important to be, and they're late getting there.
For one Tuxedo Persian cat, his fur goes beyond any fluff we've seen before. He moves around like a storm cloud, and as soon as he stops moving, two things are clear. One, he has a very impressive mustache. Two, he looks like he stuck a fork in an outlet:
@little.stew.dailyLet’s add lint to the food pyramid #mustachecat
♬ original sound - bella 🧘🏼♀️I'm obsessed with Stewie the Persian cat. Despite the fact that he looks literally frazzled, he's a very sweet boy! He loves his mom, he loves taking naps, and according to this video, he loves lint. He snacks on it in the clip, which is a little unsettling, because it looks just like him.
Don't worry: she didn't let him eat anymore. Obviously, lint is not the best for a cat. One little piece won't hurt. With that much fur, Stewie is used to the occasional hairball! His mustache alone must be enough to cause them.

Stewie has another sibling, too. He's a white long-haired Persian cat, but since this is Stewie's account, we don't get to see too much of his brother. Just know that when they fight, they look like a lightly toasted marshmallow and a burnt one battling it out:

Are All Persian Cats Fluffy?Persian cats are mainly a long-haired breed, but there is a short-haired variety. Both varieties have that standard grumpy, smush-faced look, but the short-haired ones have significantly less fur. The shorthaired version of this breed is more widely known as the "Exotic Shorthair."

Typically, the Persian cats who end up going "viral" on social media are long-haired. They usually have:
- Very fluffy ears.
- Pronounced mustaches.
- Fur sticking up all over their bodies.
People love the frizzy look of a long-hair, which is why they typically cost a bit more if you go through a breeder. They require more grooming, though, so you do need to know what you're getting into!

The Siamese is known for its slinky, sleek appearance, but this cat is so much more than that. “Vocal, curious, playful and affectionate, the Siamese has both a striking appearance and temperament,” says Liza Cahn, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance. The Siamese will be happy to “talk” to you about your day—before sharing the dirt on what happened in theirs, of course.
"This sassy cat breed requires plenty of attention and environmental enrichment," Cahn notes, so be prepared to have fun toys on hand. Besides playing, they also love to stay close to their people. "Siamese cats are also notoriously nosy and love to follow their owners around," according to Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. But if you prefer a little spunkiness in your life, this short-haired breed is definitely worth a look.

Another sassy and sweet cat breed? The Burmese! These felines are social and confident, which allows them to quickly make themself at home in your place. They’re super smart and easy to train, too—you can even teach your Burmese to walk on a leash.
“These loving, affectionate and spunky cats are often described as being ‘dog-like,’” Cahn says. “They are people-oriented, eager to interact and may even be up for a game of fetch.” Aside from being active, Burmese cats love to interact with their humans as well and will often nuzzle their owners and check in with them throughout the day, just to get their attention.

Japanese Bobtail An adorable and sassy Japanese Bobtail cat. This cute cat breed has an adorable pom-pom tail that gives it its signature look. Cahn describes them as “good-natured, playful, outgoing, intelligent and sassy."
One of the perks of having a Japanese Bobtail is that they are quick learners, making them fun to train and play games with them. They also crave attention and interactive play, so if you have one, you basically need to have your cat toys ready to go at a moment’s notice. The Japanese Bobtail is a talker as well, dishing out chirps and meows regularly and they are excellent jumpers. If you have one of these kitties, you'll never be bored around them.

Don’t be fooled by the Singapura’s adorable small size: This petite cat has sassiness to spare. The Singapura may be the smallest breed of cat, but it has plenty of energy for everything from playtime to zipping around your place, which makes it so lovable.
These bold pets have big personalities and love to be in the thick of the action. Naturally, this sassy breed also enjoys getting plenty of attention, too. However, when Singapuras aren't busy being in the limelight, you can expect them to want to cuddle as this spunky feline is highly affectionate, after all.

The American Curl has a unique look, with its signature curled-back ears and has a bold personality to match. “The American Curl will generally be lively and confident in terms of being curious, bright and even slightly cheeky at times,” Warner says. “These sweet and sassy cats will usually show an active interest in interacting with their owners and participate in various household chores as well."
Basically, when your American Curl is around, you'll never feel alone. “They often examine their surroundings, unexpectedly appear and clearly signal their desire for attention or action from their owners,” Warner notes. But, at the end of the day, the American Curl is happy to have a good cuddle as they are known as affectionate cat breeds as well.
Breed Stats- Personality: Lovable, affectionate, playful
- Weight: 5-10 pounds
- Lifespan: 10-20 years
The Cornish Rex is packed with personality. “Cornish Rexes are often described as energetic, witty and confident animals,” Warner says. “They are known to behave like perpetual kittens rather than calm, reserved adult cats.” If you add one of these furry creatures to your family, expect them to always be playing, running around the place, climbing, jumping and making everyday moments seem a little less ordinary.
“These fun-loving cats are also extremely people-oriented, thereby adding more personality to their boldness and confidence,” Warner says. “Overall, these felines will hardly ever stay unnoticed and quiet for long as they will actively seek attention, interaction and engagement with whatever their owner and other family members may be involved in at the moment.” This breed’s sassiness shouldn’t be mistaken for stubbornness, though. They just have plenty of character and that's why so many cat lovers adore them.
Breed Stats- Personality: Social, intelligent, active
- Weight: Unspecified
- Lifespan: 9-13+ years
Are sassy cats good pets? They are! The Balinese is another example of a sassy cat that vets recommend. They are a direct relative of Siamese cats, they just have long coats. The exotic-looking breed is incredibly social and talkative, making them a good fit for lively households. Balinese love their humans as well, so expect yours to stick to you like glue and give you ton of affection and cuddles.
Warner points out that this bold breed loves being in the limelight, so expect to hear protests in the form of meows if all eyes aren’t on them and keep in mind that they may get into mischief if they don’t get the attention they expect. So, make sure your pet feels included or is otherwise occupied if you add one to your family. That way they feel loved and are happy.

Rottweiler Auditions for ‘Phantom of the Paw-Pera’ With the Most Epic Howl
Howling is my favorite thing dogs do. I have Boston Terriers, who typically don't howl very much, but we taught them how to do it when they were puppies. It's loud, and I feel a little bad for our neighbors, but it brings me so much joy.
One Rottweiler knows all about the joys of howling, and she's an absolute professional about it. When she howls, she might as well be auditioning for Phantom of the Paw-pera:
@wongietherottieShe’s performance ready ✨
♬ original sound - Wongie The RottieWongie the Rottie is about to start selling out stadiums. I'm going to buy every ticket so I can have a private concert from the queen herself. That's a genuinely impressive howl!

Wongie is a rescue! She's originally from Trinidad and Tobago, but now lives in Canada with her mom. She has for years, and she's fully enjoying life as a princess these days. She loves watching videos on mom's phone, getting pets, and yelling when she doesn't get her way. Don't we all?
Except Wongie doesn't yell as you'd expect: she howls like a beautiful opera singer. It's a little more effective than barking, if you ask me. It's basically a siren song! After a performance like that, it's nearly impossible not to give her whatever she wants. Her howling is so popular that she's going on tour (for the small price of 50 chicken nuggets per ticket):
@wongietherottieKeep your calendars open.
♬ original sound - Wongie The RottieI'll be there. If I bring 100 chicken nuggets, will she give me a kiss?
Rottweilers Are Super VocalRottweilers are one of the loudest dog breeds of all time... And they're not even huge barkers. They do have a loud, deep bark that they'll pull out when they need to, but it's definitely not their most common vocalization.
Rottweiler sitting in a river.image via Shutterstock / Memo Ossa
Rottweilers are specifically known for the "Rottie Rumble," which most people equate to a purring cat. The Rumble is not a growl, but more of a vibration, and it usually means they're:
- Content.
- Happy.
- Excited.
- Comfortable.
There is a louder version that they do when they want attention, and they whine all the time. Howling is pretty much the ultimate sign that a Rottweiler wants attention... Or in Wongie's case, that they're ready for their Broadway debut!

Dog Crew of 4 All Have Wildly Different Reactions to Stuffed Pup
In a home with multiple pets, the resident humans usually feel a tighter kinship with one over the others if that pet's personality feels similar to theirs. For example, I relate most to our old, bitter Persian cat who's really a Grinch in disguise (and would sooner sleep than get into anything fun), while my husband is more like our optimistic Corgi, up for any new adventure.
In the Moriarty's full house of four pups—Maverick, Blue, Titan, and Bauer—each has a completely different response to Dad's surprise stuffed dog. Once you see this, you might think, "That one's like me!"
@imbluethesiberiannI think we could have all seen this coming… IB: @Suavexavier #dogsoftiktok #dogsofttiktokviral #husky #goldenretriever #puppy
♬ Quirky Suspenseful Indie-Comedy(1115050) - Kenji UedaFor starters, Maverick, the Golden Retriever service dog, is a very good boy who always has a good boy reaction, so this isn't much different. He's followed by an equally well-behaved Husky named Blue, who's more concerned and confused that the stuffie isn't responding, which is pretty on-brand!
Titan comes in third, and though he might feel similar to Blue, he's more interested in trying to figure out if the stuffie is nice because he wants to play (understandable).
And finally, the wrecking ball and youngest of the bunch, Golden Retriever Bauer, runs in like his fur's on fire! He's ready to slice and dice anything in his path, and today, it's that stuffed dog! So, of this funny canine crew, which one do you relate to most?
Related: Rescue Dog Gets Lookalike Plushie and His Reaction Is Priceless
Mom and Dad love to test out reactions with the quad, and in another post, they attempted to trick the pups into thinking an alligator was swimming in the pool. Now that you've seen each of the personalities, I'm sure you can guess how this one ends!
@imbluethesiberiannWe’re safe from gators… I think? #dogsoftiktok #husky #goldenretriever #huskies #dogs
♬ Quirky Suspenseful Indie-Comedy(1115050) - Kenji Ueda The Main Personality Differences Between Golden Retrievers and HuskiesIf we take age, experience, and training out of the equations above, reactions to something new come down to the breed's general traits.
Golden Retrievers are typically eager to please, trainable, and affectionate "Velcro" dogs who thrive on attention, while Huskies are a little more independent, have higher energy levels, and can be stubborn at times, depending on what's in it for them.
Obviously, all of that goes out the window when our chaotic king, Bauer, comes along!

Golden Retriever Puppy in a Pool Is a Floating Bumblebee Baby
There are two types of summer energy. People who have plans, and then whatever this is. Absolute bliss. Zero responsibilities. Just floating.
The caption reads, “Donut in his bee floatie. Donut is me this summer,” and honestly, same. This tiny Golden Retriever puppy named Donut is just drifting around the pool in a little bumblebee float, like he booked a resort vacation and has nowhere to be. Talk about cuteness overload.
@it_is_a_pancake_lifeDonut is me this summer 🌼🐝
♬ These Words - Badger & Natasha BedingfieldIn the clip shared on the TikTok account @it_is_a_pancake_life, Donut is calmly floating, letting the water carry him while his little feet occasionally dip in like he’s testing the vibes. The tiny Grinch feet. The toe beans. The overall commitment to relaxation. It’s almost too much.
The comments were fully on board with his lifestyle.
Related: Golden Retriever Puppy Does a Perfect Backflip Into the Pool and Chaos Follows
“Watching all his problems buzz away,” one person wrote, which is exactly the energy.
“Living his best resort life,” and yes, he absolutely is.
“Precious baby,” and “The cuteness is too much,” both of which feel correct.
“Oh my goodness, look at the little Grinch feet, so precious, I can’t,” which… same. I cannot.
“His little toe beans in the water,” which deserves its own moment.
“Cutest little shark I’ve ever seen,” which is somehow accurate.
“I never knew I needed to see a Golden on his bee floatie in the pool with his cute little feeties,” and now none of us can unsee it.
I keep watching him just gently float around like this is his full-time job. I'd basically do anything to hang out with Donut in the pool on a hot summer day!
Can Puppies Go Swimming? @dr.adam_christman3 Pool Tips For Your Dog! Save & Share. #dogpoolsafety #dogtips #vettok #doghealth #dogpool #dogparents #jersey
♬ A tropical house that feels Summer vibes - RoaPuppies can go swimming, but it’s important to introduce them to water safely and gradually. Not all puppies instinctively know how to swim, and some may feel nervous at first, so supervision is always key.
Using a shallow area or a secure float like this can help them build confidence while staying safe. It’s also important to keep sessions short and positive so they don’t get overwhelmed or tired.
Some breeds, like Golden Retrievers, are naturally more comfortable in water, but even then, it’s still important to monitor them closely and make sure they can easily get in and out.
And of course, never leave a puppy unattended in water, even for a moment. Because while floating like a tiny bumblebee baby looks effortless… safety always comes first.

Pilots Go Viral for Making 'Cat Meows and Dog Barks' and the Internet Is Divided
There are a lot of things people want from pilots.
Competence, ideally. Calm under pressure, absolutely. Clear communication, yes.
What most people do not expect is a little unauthorized barnyard theater over the airport radio.
And yet, here we are.
@cbsnewsTwo pilots appeared to make meowing noises and dog barks as they communicated with each other before air traffic control at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport called them out on Sunday. "You guys, you need to be professional," an air traffic controller is heard saying. #pilots
♬ original sound - cbsnewsIn this video, two pilots are apparently communicating with each other at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport by making meowing noises and dog barking sounds before air traffic control finally cuts in with the deeply exhausted line, “You guys, you need to be professional.” Which, honestly, is one of the funniest possible ways this could have ended. Not a screaming meltdown. Not a dramatic threat. Just one person clearly trying to hold the remaining strands of civilization together while two grown adults turn the runway into a petting zoo.
It is ridiculous, but in a very recognizable human way. One comment says, “God forbid we have whimsy 😭” and that really is half the internet’s reaction. The other half is basically, please do not do improv where planes are involved. Then there is the extremely funny middle ground, summed up by the comment, “To be fair, that controller is probably STRESSED.” Yes. Very much, yes. There is a strong chance that the controller had already dealt with 12 other forms of nonsense before the meowing even started.
View this post on InstagramAnother comment, “This is why you still fly an RJ damn 💔😭,” has such specific industry-burn energy that even if you don't know exactly what it means, you know it landed.
This whole thing hit me in a specific way because my dad was a pilot and absolutely had the same kind of sense of humor as the controller. Dry, practical, slightly done with everyone. Meanwhile, I was the one doing the meowing, which is probably why I am not employed anywhere near a runway, a control tower, or honestly, any profession where adults are expected to remain serious for longer than six consecutive minutes.
My dog, Lola, would also be completely disqualified from aviation. She is far too chaotic to be near a runway. She would hear one bark over the radio and assume she had been personally summoned to defend national airspace.
This clip is so shareable that it drops people right into a perfect little argument. Is it funny? Extremely. Is it dumb? Also yes. Is the controller the secret hero of the whole thing? Without question. That tension is what gives it legs. A tiny burst of absurdity, immediately followed by someone being the designated adult.
View this post on InstagramWhich, really, is the structure of most societies.
A Little Whimsy Is Funny, Right up Until Someone Has To Be the AdultEverybody instantly recognizes the roles. Two guys doing creature impressions over a radio, like they forgot where they were, and one controller sounding like the only parent left at the sleepover. The FAA’s own guidance makes it pretty clear that radio communication is supposed to be sharp and professional, which is exactly why the controller’s: “You guys, you need to be professional,” hits like comedy gold.
Why did this clip go so viral? It is not just about cat noises and dog barks; it is about the eternal human drama of somebody trying to have a little fun while somebody else is one inconvenience away from becoming wallpaper. There is room for jokes in life, sure. But maybe not on the frequency where people are trying to land planes.

Maine Coon Cat With Rare 'Sand and Sea' Split Tint Looks Like a Stunning Watercolor Painting
I see a lot of really pretty cats each day, and I consider every single one perfect in their own way. Some of them have unique features, like gargantuan paws, while others are teeny-tiny babies compared to others their age. I honestly thought I'd seen it all, especially in popular breeds—until now.
Lotus, the Maine Coon kitten, was blessed with the kind of split-face coloring that seriously looks like a beach day painting. You have to see this beauty to understand what a rare find this is!

@distinct.felinestxThis feels like a warning, not a question… CCatTokKKittenTokFFunnyCatsPPetHumorC#CatAttitude #FYP
♬ The most beautiful gorgeous - Frink How Rare Is This Split Coloring in Maine Coons? If you've never seen this kind of "split" face coloring, it's called chimerism, and it's more common in some kitty breeds like Tortoiseshells. Experts agree that in a Maine Coon, this pastel "watercolor" look that's half-and-half is exceedingly rare. Cats like Lotus are deemed a "once-in-a-lifetime" kind of find, so I guess you could call her your lucky gal.
In any cat breed, the split coloring happens when two fertilized embryos combine into one. Only around 1% of felines are considered true chimera kitties, but in a Maine Coon, it's even rarer. I didn't know they existed until I found Lotus, so now my bar is a lot higher when it comes to cute cats.
Lotus' beautiful markings are highly coveted and hard to find on a Maine Coon, so if Lotus is still looking for a home, whoever she ends up with is one lucky duck!

This Dog Breed Is Ranked Among the 'Calmest' Pups Despite Their Massive Size
I've had dogs of all sizes as part of my family and learned you definitely can't judge a book by its furry cover. Small fur babies are thought of as very calm and quiet, yet a Chihuahua or Jack Russell can be yappier and more energetic than many large-breed dogs. Huge canines like Newfoundlands and Bernese Mountain Dogs boast mammoth builds that some can view as intimidating, yet they are total mushballs.
One well-known breed is considered to be a gentle giant despite its towering presence, and is now being ranked as one of the most easygoing.
Great Dane Image via Shutterstock/Darksteel DesignsModern Dog compiled a list of "Calmest, Most Laid-Back Dog Breeds" and some of their rankings may come as a surprise. While the Bulldog came in first for its gentle demeanor and affinity for sedentary activities, the Great Dane took second place in spite of their ginormous presence.
Great Danes are the ultimate gentle giants and make wonderful family pets. Originally bred in Germany to hunt wild boar, Great Danes are often referred to as the Apollo of Dogs. This working breed is highly intelligent, loyal, and closely bonds with loved ones of all ages. These precious pooches have a very calm, serene demeanor and are very affectionate.
Then there's their measurements: Males grow between 30 and 34 inches in height and approximately 120 to 200 pounds, with females standing at 28 to 32 inches and tipping the scales between 99 and 130 pounds.
Great Danes come in a variety of colors including black, black and white, blue, brindle, fawn, harlequin, merle, silver, solid white, or mantle.
Other large breeds that made the list include the Saint Bernard and Mastiff. Smaller breeds such as the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Pug also fell under the calm category.
Breeds With Excess EnergyOn the flip side, there are numerous breeds that are more robust and need lots of exercise to expend their energy. Herding dogs like Border Collies and Australian Shepherds require daily activity and plenty of room to run. Smaller canines like Vizslas and Poodles have a lot of pep in their step and do best when they have regular exercise to keep them physically and mentally sharp.
Whichever breed of pooch you pick, make sure you choose a dog that suits your lifestyle so they can thrive.

Poodle Mix Watching 'Paw Patrol 'Thinks the Pups Are His Besties'
A tiny, cream-colored Poodle mix is sitting in front of the TV like it’s his morning routine, and the second the animated pups show up, he's locked in. Not casually watching. Fully invested. Little head tilted, eyes glued, soft barks and tiny whimpers like he’s trying to join the team.
His name is Otis, a Poochon (that’s Bichon Frise plus Poodle energy in one extremely fluffy body), and he seems absolutely convinced the characters on Paw Patrol are his actual friends. Not TV friends. Real friends. Coworkers, maybe.
@otis0882I like watching my tv shows in the morning, what is your favourite? 🐾🐶📺#puppy #fyp #puppydog #poochonpuppy #poochon
♬ original sound - OtisTikTok user @otis0882 shared the clip with the caption, “I like watching my TV shows in the morning, what is your favorite?” and honestly, Otis has better habits than most of us. Wake up. Turn on your show. Gently, emotionally connect with animated dogs.
The comments are exactly what you’d expect when a literal fluffball starts talking to cartoons. “OMG, little ball of fluff,” pretty much covers it, while another person wrote, “Awww, he wants a friend,” which is both sweet and slightly devastating. Like… someone get this man a playdate immediately.
Related: We Can't Stop Laughing at How This Golden Retriever Watches Her Cartoons
“OMG, I love him,” showed up multiple times (correct), along with, “The cutest little baby ever loves his cartoon friends,” which feels less like a comment and more like a factual statement. No notes.
“Look at that tiny fluff,” and “He is so precious,” are doing important work here. “OMG, he is the most puppy-looking puppy ever,” might be the most accurate description of all. He looks like what you’d get if you asked a computer to generate “puppy” and then added extra softness.
Also, and I’m just saying, our Pomeranian, Kingston, would bark at the TV exactly once, get overwhelmed, and then leave the room like he has better things to do. Our huge cat, Meatball, would sit directly in front of the screen and block the entire show while pretending he’s part of the cast. He's done it before.
Do Dogs Like TV? @oreo_carmen7717Can dogs appreciate the fine art of a web-slinging spider show? 🤔 Watch River's reaction to Lucas the Spider and learn how to make TV time fun for your pooch! 🕷️🐶💡 #TikTokTails #SpiderDog #TVTimeTips
♬ Energy - ElektronomiaDogs can absolutely watch and respond to television, but how much they care depends on the individual dog. Some are completely uninterested, while others, like Otis, are deeply and emotionally involved.
Modern TVs, especially HD and 4K, display motion more smoothly than older screens, making it easier for pups to perceive what’s happening. Many dogs are especially drawn to shows featuring animals, since they recognize movement patterns, sounds like barking, and even certain shapes.
Some dogs will react by barking, whining, or trying to interact with what they’re seeing, while others just quietly watch like it’s their version of morning coffee. Breeds with strong visual tracking instincts, like herding or hunting dogs, tend to be more engaged, but clearly, being extremely cute and curious also helps.
Fun fact: Researchers have found that dogs often prefer watching other animals, especially other dogs, over human-focused content. Which means Otis choosing a show about heroic pups is not only adorable, it’s actually right on-brand.

One Shelter’s $25 Idea Turns Into a Complete Surprise for Pet Parents
Shelters across the country are always looking for new ways to connect with people. From cat yoga classes to community events, the shift toward interactive fundraising is helping save more animal lives than traditional methods ever did.
As shelters look for fun and creative ways to raise money, we're loving the latest idea from a shelter in Indiana that really puts the fun in fundraising.
Fundraising With a TwistAt first, it sounds simple. Donate $25. Send in a photo of your pet. Get a portrait in return.
Here's the catch: You don’t know what your pet will look like when the portrait arrives.
This kind of fundraiser for Humane Indiana, called Artwork for the Animals, takes a straightforward concept and adds that fun twist.
In a post in r/WafflesAndCo on Reddit, you can see some of the artwork people have received, and the results range from wow-worthy to hilarious.
The mystery is the entire point. Some donors receive professional-level digital paintings, while others get a hilarious stick-figure sketch drawn by a volunteer with zero artistic talent.
This gamble has turned the fundraiser into a viral event. Pet parents are signing up in droves, eager to see if their furry family member will be turned into a museum-quality masterpiece or an objectively "bad" drawing that they may treasure even more.
Related: His Heartbroken Face Will Break You, but This Shelter Dog’s Ending Is Pure Joy
Why People Love ItThe community reaction has been overwhelming. One supporter commented on the Reddit post, saying, “This is such a great idea for a fund raiser. Looking forward to seeing the masterpieces.”
Another person added, “Ooh this is awesome! Where do I sign up to get one done of my boy.”
Shelters Have Learned to Get CreativeFundraising for shelters has changed a lot in recent years. Simple donation asks still matter, but creative campaigns tend to travel further, faster.
Animal shelters have grown tired of the standard bake sale. To raise money for the animals they try to save, they have found new and creative ways to raise money with things like mystery boxes, naming contests, special virtual events and now unpredictable pet portraits.
These ideas give people something to talk about, something to share and, most importantly, a reason to participate.
People don’t just donate because they’re asked to. They donate when they feel something.
In this case, curiosity, joy and even a little risk.
And when a shelter can tap into that, even with something as simple as a $25 mystery portrait, it changes how people engage. Not just with the fundraiser, but with the idea of helping in the first place.

The Benefits of Treat-Dispensing Toys for DogsIt’s no secret that dogs are natural problem-solvers, and while some are certainly better at it than others, treat-dispensing toys have a knack for tapping into those instincts. Instead of offering instant rewards, these toys encourage dogs to think, paw, nudge and flip their way to a tasty payoff. This not only keeps them engaged and sharpening their skills, it also keeps their minds active and in discovery mode.
Just as important as physical exercise, mental stimulation is especially beneficial for high-energy breeds and pups who spend a lot of time indoors. Working for treats can even help reduce boredom, which often leads to unwanted behaviors like chewing, barking or digging where they shouldn’t.
These toys also turn snack time into a more interactive, rewarding game. Rather than a quick treat that’s gone in seconds, a treat-dispensing toy gives dogs a mini activity that slows things down and keeps them engaged a bit longer than they normally would be. Think of it like a puzzle toy or slow-feeder bowl, which can help pups pace themselves and avoid eating too quickly.
Be sure to snag this toy while it’s still in stock, or pick one up for a friend or family member with a pup in need. While you’re at it, check out Aldi’s $4 fur removal stone and versatile travel tote for more must-have pet essentials.

Man Tried to Smuggle Thousands of Ants in Pill Capsules and the Video Will Make You Cringe
Some stories feel fake until you realize they’re very much not. Like, your brain wants to categorize it as internet nonsense, but then you look a little closer and suddenly it’s… a real situation involving actual authorities and consequences.
This is one of those stories. And unfortunately, the details only get stranger the more you sit with them.
@cnnA Kenyan court sentenced a Chinese national to 12 months in jail and fined him 1 million shillings after authorities found thousands of live ants packed in capsules at Nairobi’s airport. #CNN #News
♬ original sound - CNN - CNNA video shared by @cnn shows the moment authorities uncovered a bizarre smuggling attempt involving thousands of live ants—carefully packed into pill capsules and hidden inside luggage.
Yes. Thousands.
According to reporting from the BBC, a Chinese national was arrested at Nairobi’s main airport after attempting to travel with more than 2,000 live queen garden ants. The ants had been placed into capsules, creating a setup that is somehow both meticulous and deeply unsettling to look at. I was itching just watching the video.
He was later sentenced to a year in prison and fined 1 million Kenyan shillings. The judge described him as not entirely honest and noted a lack of remorse, while also pointing to growing concerns around wildlife trafficking and its ecological impact.
And I don’t know what part of this is the most confusing. The planning? The execution? The fact that someone looked at thousands of ants and thought, yes, this is worth the effort?
People in the comments were having a moment with it.
“I’m really not hustling hard enough,” one person wrote.
“I don’t have exciting enough hobbies,” another added.
Which… fair. But also maybe let’s not aim for this level of ambition.

According to the BBC, collectors in places like China and Europe will pay significant amounts to maintain ant colonies in controlled environments called formicariums. These transparent setups allow enthusiasts to observe complex social structures and behaviors up close.
Certain species, especially queen ants, can be extremely valuable because they are essential for starting and sustaining a colony. In some cases, they’ve been reported to sell for hundreds of dollars each.
That demand has led to a rise in illegal trafficking, which can have serious ecological consequences when species are removed from their natural environments or introduced into new ones.
So while the video itself feels surreal, the broader issue behind it is very real.
Still. There is something about seeing thousands of ants packed into capsules that makes your brain quietly say… absolutely not.
