Fenix the Husky mix is an amazing example of this type of tenacity. The fur baby has a brain disorder and was given a negative prognosis, but he figured out how to beat the odds.

In the TikTok from @fenixlumiere, the handsome Husky was outside enjoying some nice weather. When he began moving toward the camera, Fenix didn't walk. He pranced. Turns out the canine cutie adopted this form of mobility due to a medical condition.

"My puppy was told he'd never walk normally because his mum was abused when he was in utero," the onscreen text revealed. "His resulting brain disorder meant he couldn't run without falling over, so he taught himself to prance instead."

Fenix's front paws elegantly swung as the precious pooch pranced his way up the sidewalk, while his back legs sort of hovered from side to side. His special strut was over-the-top adorable, and the look of joy on his face would brighten anyone's day. Fenix's creative solution to overcoming his medical condition was a testament to his intelligence and determination to thrive.

Followers fell in love with Fenix and posted plenty of praise for the pup.

"I consider that an upgrade. He’s adorable," one remarked.

"All I see is a model living his best life," another noted.

"He reminds me of dressage horses that dance — that is just too cute," a follower pointed out.

"I think he’s right and we’re all doing it wrong!" someone commented.

Cerebellar Hypoplasia in Canines

Fenix has cerebellar hypoplasia, which is a neurological disease usually seen in puppies from birth. This disorder occurs when the cerebellum, a section of the brain, doesn’t form correctly while the puppy is in the womb.

The cerebellum sends signals to muscles that control balance, coordination, posture, and fine motor skills. Malformations in this area of the brain cause mobility issues in dogs. The disorder does not get worse over time or affect cognitive function.

Causes of cerebellar hypoplasia include viral infections, toxins, genetics, or traumatic events during brain development.

Many dogs with this disorder can lead active, productive lives with the help of supportive equipment like doggy wheelchairs or specialized harnesses. Or, maybe they can give Fenix's playful prance a try.

In the TikTok from @bernerboyz, the vet grads were coaching their canines to stay in position as they got as many pics as possible. The five dogs were different breeds ranging from Corgi to Bernese Mountain Dog, and each donned a graduation cap, complete with a gold tassel.

Sometimes the hardest part of dog training isn't the barking, pulling or ignoring commands. It's the feeling that you're failing your dog.

A German shepherd parent on Reddit recently opened up about hitting that emotional wall after feeling completely drained by her dog's sudden refusal to listen off-leash. Dog Refuses to Listen

As his mom explained in the first post to Reddit's r/germanshepherds, "He knows the commands. He just won't do them." Her rescued German shepherd listened well on leash but completely ignored commands once freedom was at hand.

Recall was no longer an option. Treats had no value. Toys barely mattered. That frustration piled up fast.

German shepherds are intelligent enough to test boundaries in ways that feel weirdly personal. They quickly learn context, too. Many dogs absolutely understand the difference between "training mode" and "fun mode."

In her second post, she wrote, "Overall he's a good boy. He just wants to push boundaries."

The reality is that a struggling training phase does not make someone a bad dog parent. Social media often makes training look easy when real life is usually messy, repetitive and emotional. Even this dog mom admitted, saying, "Sometimes I don't feel like I'm doing enough, and it's so hard to know what's right for him."

Charles is an older feral cat who sensed he was ill, so he sought help from a nearby human.

In the TikTok from @nostaljacpoetry, Charles was lying down outside on a welcome mat, staring in the window of a house. Just days earlier, he began lingering around the home.

"Charles is an older feral cat that started showing up on my front doormat last week," the onscreen text explained. "He was taking naps on the doormat because he wasn't feeling well and I think he knew I could help."

The homeowner put out food and water for Charles and continued to check on him. She could tell he was sick and managed to lure him into a cage so she could take him to the veterinarian. The feline fur baby needed extensive medical care.

"He was positive for FIV and was treated for multiple infections, given antibiotics, steroids, and dewormer," the story continued, along with an update. "Now he's recovering in my bathroom and seems to be feeling a bit better by day 3."

The video showed Charles exploring the bathroom and acting more energetically than when he first arrived at the home. His caretaker described him as "sleepy and docile", and still a bit fearful, but showing positive signs of recovery.

How Feral Cats Learn to Trust Humans

Building trust with a feral cat takes time and patience. Consistency is key, so start establishing a routine with the cat you're hoping to befriend, such as setting regular feeding times or play sessions. Determining what type of activities to establish depends on the cat's personality and behavior.

Providing a safe space for the cat also helps create a bond. Set up an area or enclosure in your yard or on your porch that's quiet and offers shelter from inclement weather. Supply the area with cozy blankets, toys, food, and water.
