This Stunning Appaloosa Horse Looks Exactly Like Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 7:20pm

The Appaloosa Horse in this video is genuinely breathtaking, but unfortunately for him, the internet has collectively decided he also looks exactly like chocolate chip pancakes.

Honestly? They're not wrong.

TikTok user @kuiraba15 shared the gorgeous clip showing a brown-and-white spotted horse trotting around a farmyard, neighing proudly, and generally looking like a majestic woodland creature created by a breakfast-themed wizard.

Related: Black Horse With a White Face Looks Like He Was Dipped in Milk

The horse’s unique coat pattern features rich brown spots splashed across creamy white fur in a way that somehow immediately makes people think of pancake batter and melted chocolate chips.

And now that the comparison exists, it's honestly impossible to unsee.

At Different Moments in the Clip:

• The horse runs dramatically through the field.
• His spotted coat catches the sunlight.
• He neighs proudly toward the camera.
• Everyone watching forgets how horse anatomy works because they are distracted by pancake thoughts.

People in the Comments Were Mesmerized by How Beautiful He Is:

• “That is a gorgeous horse.”
• “He is absolutely stunning. Nature is such an amazing miracle.”
• “Beauty.”
• “What an absolutely gorgeous animal.”
• “You are so lucky!”
• “One of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen.”

Honestly, Appaloosas already have some of the most striking coat patterns in the horse world, but this particular horse really does look painted by somebody who got inspired while making brunch.

Why Do Appaloosa Horses Have Spotted Coats?

Appaloosa Horses are famous for their distinctive spotted coat patterns, which come from genetics associated with the Leopard Complex gene. Their markings can range from tiny speckles to dramatic, blanket-style spots covering large areas of the body.

Appaloosas Are Also Known For:

• Unique spotted coats
• Strong athletic ability
• Intelligent personalities
• Hardiness and stamina
• Eye-catching color patterns
• Strong historical ties to the Nez Perce people

Because every Appaloosa’s markings are unique, no two horses look exactly alike, which is part of why horse lovers become so obsessed with the breed.

'Forlorn' Pit Bull Goes to Daycare and Acts Like It Was a Personal Betrayal

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 6:55pm

When it comes to dogs and daycare, there are two distinct groups: the ones who are obsessed with being out and about, making new friends, and playing to their heart's content, and those who can't believe the audacity that we might even consider dropping them off at such an exciting place when they'd rather be home with us.

Like me, Opie falls into the latter category. As a sensitive, tender-hearted Pit Bull raised by cats, going to doggy daycare sounds like a terrible idea. Once you see his reaction to being dropped off, you'll want to teleport to him and give the biggest hug ever!

@justopiethings

Goodbye 👋 #pitbullmix #bullybreed

♬ original sound - Justopiethings

This is one of the most precious pups to ever exist, so I feel for Opie! This is the vibe I put out when we're at a party, and I'm done. He only has eyes for Mom because he loves her so much, but this is a foolproof trick because he's too cute to possibly deny!

Related: Sweet Pit Bull Raised by Cats Is Obsessed With Tiny Beds Just Like Them in Cute Clip

As I mentioned, the adorable Pit Bull raised by cats might not vibe with other dogs. He'd much rather chill at home with the kitties. His face is so expressive with the whole "forlorn" look of "get me out of here NOW," let him do whatever he wants, OK?

@justopiethings

Part cat part … Mainecoon ? #pitbullmix #pitbullsoftiktok #bullybreeds #catdog #dogsoftiktok

♬ Morning Happy Melody - Donguri Why Some Dogs Don't Like Daycare

We took our Corgi, Tater Tot, to doggy daycare when she was a chaotic little maniac in need of puppy interaction, and for a while, she loved it. Named "Pet of the Month" multiple times over, Tater had a blast... until she didn't. To this day, we aren't sure what exactly happened that changed her mind from begging to hang with her fur friends to refusing to get out of the car when we got there.

For some pups, daycare is a fantastic way to socialize, practice training, or work on obedience while burning energy. They may even find love! For others, it has the opposite effect, and they're overwhelmed.

Even if they liked going at one point, it's common for a change in attitude once they start maturing. Maybe they'd rather be home than overstimulated, fearful, or stressed out if they deal with separation anxiety.

That said, Opie is just a sweet boy who isn't a daycare fan, and that's OK! He's still a good boy, just as Tater is still a good girl (with or without daycare cred)!

Family Cat Refuses to Leave 20-Year-Old Dachshund’s Side After He Enters Hospice Care

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 6:10pm

Dogs and cats often become besties when they're under the same roof. Differences seem to go to the wayside as time passes and they find more common ground. Before you know it, they have a lifelong bond.

This feline fur baby is obviously attached to her Dachshund brother, Beowulf, and seems to know he needs extra support.

@auua.lisa

It’s amazing how cats just know, she never did this until recently #catsoftiktok #olddachshund #hospice #catlover #dachshund

♬ original sound - solo.mp3 - solo.mp3

In the TikTok from @auua.lisa, the sweet orange and white cat stared lovingly at her Doxie brother and has recently been sticking close by.

"Ever since my 20-year-old dog started hospice, my cat hasn't left his side," the onscreen text explained, with the caption adding, "It's amazing how cats just know, she never did this until recently."

Clips of the cat staying near Beowulf revealed her concern. Followers were moved by the cat's compassion and the love between the two siblings.

"Argh my heart — I swear cats sense these things, they are so in tune with those they love," one shared.

"Incredibly intuitive animals. They grieve and understand just like we do," another remarked.

"Perfection and unconditional love," a follower noted.

"More healing and more love — they're both beautiful," someone commented.

How Bonded Pets Sense Illness

Whenever someone in my family is sick or feeling sad, both of my dogs go into caretaker mode. Dogs seem to have a natural capacity for empathy, and cats have it as well.

Animals possess a powerful sense of smell. Cats have approximately 200 million odor-sensitive cells in their noses, allowing them to sniff out chemical changes in body odor that occur when someone is sick. Illnesses such as infections, diabetes, and various cancers can change the body’s scent, prompting more protective behavior in your fur babies.

When your cat senses that their loved one is ill or feeling down, they may show their concern through some of these behaviors:

Related: 20-Year-Old Rescue Dachshund Brings His Own Blanket Everywhere and It's Adorable

  • Clinginess or increased attention, such as following you around or cuddling more than usual.
  • Gentle vocalizations, like soft meows or purring near afflicted areas.
  • Sleeping closer to you than they used to and spending their downtime near you.
  • Exhibiting a more protective nature toward you.
  • Change in appetite or grooming habits, reflecting stress or empathy.

This caring kitty is a wonderful example of the compassion cats exude, and will most likely stay on watch over Beowulf for as long as he needs her.

This Black-and-White Mastiff Has Mismatched Eyes and One of the Wildest Coats People Have Ever Seen

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 5:20pm

The Mastiff puppy in this video doesn't look fully real. She looks like the kind of dog somebody would invent after saying, “OK, but what if we made a puppy extra majestic for absolutely no reason?”

A stunning black-and-white spotted Mastiff puppy named Kruella is mesmerizing people online thanks to her dramatic coat pattern and mismatched eyes that honestly look straight out of a fantasy movie.

@mastiffclique

Kruella 🖤🐾❤️ Changing so much, so fast 💨 #northamericanmastiff #puppies #dogoftiktok #dogmom #puppytiktok

♬ black out days x hoodtrap - тгк:floorage

TikTok user @mastiffclique shared the beautiful clip showing the giant puppy calmly walking through a kitchen while showing off her striking blue and brown eyes.

The caption explained that Kruella is rapidly growing and changing, giving viewers a glimpse into her puppyhood transformation.

And honestly? She already looks unbelievably majestic.

Related: Sheepadoodle Puppy Has One Piercing Blue Eye and We Can't Stop Staring

At Different Moments in the Clip:
  • Her spotted coat catches the light.
  • Her giant paws stomp dramatically across the floor.
  • One icy blue eye contrasts with her warm brown eye.
  • She somehow looks both enormous and baby-tiny at the same time.

The result is honestly kind of hypnotizing.

Kruella’s Unique Coloring Immediately Had People Staring Because of the Combination Of:

• Black and white speckles
• Massive Mastiff size
Heterochromia eyes
• Gentle puppy expression

All of this somehow creates the exact energy of a magical dog companion from a fantasy novel.

And despite looking intimidatingly gorgeous, Mastiffs are often known for being gentle, affectionate dogs who become deeply attached to their families.

Honestly, the contrast between “massive, majestic creature” and “probably still scared of a vacuum cleaner” is part of what makes giant breed puppies so funny.

Why Do Some Dogs Have Two Different Colored Eyes? @3barkhouse

one blue eye one brown eye dog 🩵🤎 #DogTok #Heterochromia #dogsoftiktok #CuteDog #PetTok

♬ Bombastic Side Eye - DJ Bombompret

Dogs with two different colored eyes have a condition called heterochromia, which occurs when varying amounts of melanin affect the coloring of each eye.

Heterochromia can appear in many breeds and is often completely harmless.

Dogs With Heterochromia May Have:

• One blue eye and one brown eye
Different colored sections within one eye
• Unique coat patterns associated with the trait
• Distinctive facial markings that make the eye colors stand out even more

The condition is especially common in breeds with merle, piebald, or spotted coat genetics.

And honestly? In Kruella’s case, the mismatched eyes somehow make an already unbelievably beautiful puppy look even more unreal.

Americans were projected to spend a total of $157 billion on their pets in 2025, and according to projections, U.S. pet spending will reach almost $200 billion in 2030.

Devoted Golden Retriever Dad Sweetly Comforts His Own Tiny Puppy Before the Little One’s Surgery

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 10:55am

Preparing for surgery can be a scary thing for anyone, including pets. Even if they don't know exactly what's about to happen, they're masters at reading energy, mood, and changes in routine, as we make sure everything's good to go. Having someone to lean on for comfort during times like these can go a long way—especially for the smallest of puppies looking for comfort.

Hope is one adorable Golden Retrieverpuppy going through this now. Due to an infection at birth that took her paw, she's about to have a major procedure, so she's feeling a little uneasy. Thankfully, she has the best dad in the world, who did the sweetest thing.

View this post on Instagram

With Father's Day near, @babybubbaboyy deserves to be celebrated for being there for his daughter, even if it's just to snuggle up together for a while. She's cute as can be and may not even realize she's any different than the other Golden puppies, but surgery is a big deal for anyone.

The 6-year-old father of five precious pups always knows what his kids need and would never let them feel sad, scared, or alone. Hope may have a long road ahead of her during recovery, but her devoted Golden Retriever elder will be right by her side the whole way through.

It's not the first time Bubba Boy has shown up for his daughter, either.

Related: Golden Retriever Puppy's Bond With Baby Will Melt Your Heart

Bubba and Hope have been nearly inseparable since her birth. Thanks to their human parents, the darling little angel gets to stay with Dad so she can grow up with her own built-in bestie.

Here's a snapshot of their nightly routine pre-surgery, where you can tell Bubba adores this pretty princess:

View this post on Instagram How To Comfort Your Pet After Surgery

However Hope's surgery goes, it'll take teamwork from the whole family to make sure she heals properly and comes out the other side better than ever. If you're in the same boat with your own fur companion, a little preparation goes a long way.

  • Dublin Veterinary Hospital in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, says to make sure post-surgery pets have a quiet, clean, and cozy recovery space away from noise, stairs, and other pets.
  • Give medication as the vet prescribes (and on schedule) to help manage pain while keeping an eye on the surgery site.
  • You'll want to report signs of infection right away so things don't progress into something worse.
  • Though your pet may not have the energy to eat or drink, they need to stay hydrated.

Most of all, they'll need extra comfort and reassurance so they understand this is temporary and they'll feel better soon. This is something Bubba takes very seriously! Hope has the best recovery team around, so she'll be back to her old self in no time.

Shelter Pit Bull Mix Finally Gets Adopted After 726 Days — and Her Face Says Everything

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 10:10am

Shelter dogs pine for a forever home, but many are passed over for longer periods of time than others. Reasons range from age and breed to size and health issues, but these precious pooches have so much to offer and just want a chance.

Sarabel the Pit Bull remained in the SPCA Florida shelter for almost two years. The pretty Pittie recently received the best news ever and her joy could not be contained.

@spcaflorida

Happy Adoption Day Sarabel! Sarabel came to us in April of 2024. During the 726 days she was in our care, she made a lot of friends. No one can resist her big goofy smile. About a year ago Sarabel suddenly lost the ability to use her back legs. She managed to move on two and then conquered the doggy wheelchair. Thanks to the dedication of our canine and medical staff, Sarabel has regained use of her legs. It truly hasn’t slowed her down. Happy Adoption Day Sarabel! We can’t wait for you to experience this next chapter of your life. We love you forever, SPCA Florida Staff #rescuedogsoftiktok #adoption #bestdayever #dogadoption #animalrescue

♬ som original - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The TikTok from @spcaflorida told Sarabel's story as a celebration was being held in the precious pooch's honor.

"Our longest resident got adopted today," the onscreen text explained as Sarabel happily ran out to major applause. "Staff members gathered to say goodbye."

The canine cutie was literally smiling from ear to ear as she pranced with joy and cuddled with staff members. Her bright disposition showed no signs of the health issues she previously battled and overcame.

"Sarabel was in our care for 726 days," the story continued. "During that time she suffered from suspect IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), but nothing could hold our girl down."

Adopted just 4 days before her 2-year anniversary, Sarabel sat in her new father's lap and seemed to already feel at home.

Sarabel Temporarily Needed a Wheelchair

The caption shared some details on Sarabel's health battle. IVDD is a common back issue in dogs with long backs and short legs, and the Pit Bull's condition reached a point where she needed help to walk.

"About a year ago Sarabel suddenly lost the ability to use her back legs," the caption explained. "She managed to move on two and then conquered the doggy wheelchair."

The SPCA Florida team was committed to Sarabel's recovery and the fearless fur baby was determined to overcome her challenges.

"Thanks to the dedication of our canine and medical staff, Sarabel has regained use of her legs," the TikTok reported. "It truly hasn’t slowed her down."

Walmart's 'Stunning' Hummingbird Solar Wind Chime Is Perfect for Bird Lovers

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 10:05am

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you're a bird lover who loves solar outdoor lights, then you should really check out Walmart's flash deal before it's over. The QiShi Solar Hummingbird Wind Chime is now only $11 when it normally costs $20. That's almost 50% off.

This colorful wind chime is labeled as a best seller on Walmart's website. It's 27.5 inches long from top to bottom and has six beautiful hummingbird figurines made of glass and plastic hanging down from the top. The chimes shine a variety of changing colors at night, including red, yellow, green, orange, purple and blue. The lights are powered by solar energy.

The solar panel works automatically when you switch it on — charging by day and then illuminating at night. It takes about six to eight hours to charge in direct sunlight, and then lights up at night for six to eight hours once fully charged.

The wind chime is designed to be rain-proof and miosture-proof. The manufacturer recommends hanging it away from other light sources, so it will turn on automatically at night.

(Buyers note that although this is called a "wind chime," that's more about the design and appearance. There aren't actual chimes that make noise in the wind.)

One happy buyer writes: "I was delighted to see the LED Hummingbirds not only brightly lit up in different colors but continuously change colors! It's quite stunning at night."

This Orange Cat Has One Very Important Job: Kissing His Pit Bull Brothers

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 9:20am

♬ Good Morning, My Soul - Whiskey Blues Society

Shared by TikTok user @user6720210752958, we see an unbelievably sweet clip showing Harlow carefully walking across a table and stopping beside each Pit Bull to lovingly lick and kiss their faces one by one.

Honestly, the whole thing feels less like a pet video and more like a tiny exhausted dad checking on his children before bed. It's too sweet for words.

Related: Cat Sees an Image of Late Dog Sibling and His Reaction Is Emotional

At Different Moments in the Clip:

• Harlow walks with full purpose.
• One Pit Bull patiently waits for kisses.
• The second Pit Bull immediately gets equal attention.
• Harlow calmly rotates between both dogs.
• Everyone watching melts into emotional goo.

People in the Comments Completely Lost It Over the Orange Cat’s Loving Little Routine:

• “A single mom who works two jobs.”
• “He’s a good brother taking care of his Pitty brothers.”
• “No favoritism in the household.”
• “He loves them both so much.”
• “This is just the sweetest thing ever.”

Honestly, the “no favoritism” comment is incredibly funny because Harlow really does look committed to maintaining equal emotional support distribution among the household Pit Bulls.

And the dogs themselves look completely relaxed and trusting while he fusses over them like a tiny, furry life coach.

Meanwhile, my Maine Coon, Meatball, occasionally attempts affection toward my other cats, but unfortunately, his strategy involves surprise cuddle attacks while they're asleep, which usually ends with someone offended and walking away.

Why Do Cats Groom Other Pets? @reallygoodnoodle

that’s all folks!!!!!! #catlicking

Cats sometimes groom dogs or other animals as a sign of affection, bonding, trust, or social connection.

Mutual Grooming Behaviors Can Help Animals:

• Build social bonds
Show affection
• Reduce stress
• Reinforce trust
• Create group familiarity
• Comfort one another

Cats may especially groom pets who they view as part of their social family group.

And judging by Harlow, these two Pit Bulls are very clearly his babies now.

Why Dogs Never Forget Their Favorite Humans

So the big question here is, do dogs remember their parents even when they go away for a bit?

The answer is yes, especially if this is a human they have or once had a very positive association with.

As for recognizing them in person, scent plays a huge part in this.

They also use facial and voice recognition, so really, all their powerful senses are at play.

Dogs have between 125 and 300 million olfactory receptors. Compared to the measly 5 million receptors humans have, this is quite impressive.

This incredible sense of smell allows them to recognize people through their unique scent markup, which includes sweat, hormones, and skin oils, according to ScienceInsights.com.

Pups can also recognize your voice because there's a region in the temporal lobe of their brain that helps them know the sound of their parent's voice compared to another person.

This indicates they can identify one person talking from another, which is also amazing.

That brain is working hard, as they also have a brain region dedicated to recognizing familiar human faces.

So the answer is, yes, they absolutely recognize their humans, even in a busy airport!

Senior Cat Who Demands Extra Butter on Her Mashed Potatoes Is Deeply Relatable

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 8:20am

Effie, the senior cat, has reached the stage of life where she knows exactly what she wants and absolutely refuses to compromise anymore.

And apparently, what she wants is extra butter on her mashed potatoes.

♬ original sound - Katelyn Claire Isaac

The clip was shared by @kateisaac25 on TikTok, and the adorable video explains:

“My senior cat will yell at me if her spoonful of mashed potatoes doesn’t have enough butter.”

Honestly? Deeply relatable behavior.

Related: 18-Year-Old Senior Cat Looks Like a 'Well-Loved Teddy Bear' and We Can't Unsee It

The video shows beautiful gray-and-white Tabby Effie happily eating buttery mashed potatoes from a plate like a tiny retired grandmother who has earned the right to be a little demanding at dinnertime.

And according to her mom, the butter ratio matters VERY much.

At Different Moments in the Clip:

• Effie carefully eats her potatoes.
• The butter glistens dramatically.
• She looks deeply experienced in comfort food.
• Everyone watching immediately decides she deserves everything she wants.

People in the Comments Completely Understood the Assignment—Senior Cats Get Whatever They Want:

• “Old kitties get whatever they want.”
• “The princess gets what the princess wants.”
• “She knows exactly what she wants and won’t settle for less.”
• “Loveee senior cats, they age so cute.”

Other People Shared the Hilariously Specific Foods Their Elderly Cats Demanded Later in Life:

• “Mine loved Frito Lay’s jalapeno cheese sauce.”
• “My 14-year-old in kidney failure gets whatever she wants, which is specifically anything minty or creamy.”
• “Mint chocolate chip ice cream? Nectar of the gods.”
• “My 18-year-old ate everything I did. She loved salty snacks, pork chops, and pizza the most.”

Honestly, senior cats really do develop the energy of tiny retired queens who survived everything and are now simply here to enjoy snacks and judge everyone around them.

Meanwhile, my elderly Orange Cat, Tarkus, also operates under “grandpa rules,” which means if he suddenly demanded buttered potatoes, I would probably just hand them over immediately out of respect.

Why Do Senior Cats Sometimes Develop Specific Food Preferences?

Related: Senior Cat Demands Her Nightly Cheeto and Insists It Be Rotated Just Right

Older kitties can become much more particular about food as they age due to changes in smell, taste, comfort, appetite, and medical needs.

Senior Cats May Gravitate Toward Goods That Are:

• Soft and easy to eat
• Warm and comforting
• Strong smelling
• Rich or flavorful
• Familiar and emotionally comforting

Veterinarians often encourage senior cat families to focus on keeping older cats eating consistently, especially if health issues affect appetite.

And honestly? If Effie wants extra butter on her mashed potatoes at this stage of life, that feels like a completely reasonable request.

Boston Terrier’s Response to 'Bring One Toy' Is Pure Chaos

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 7:55am

Dogs often have their own interpretation of what they think we mean, no matter the circumstances. Half the time, they're just so cute, we let them do whatever they want.

In Gertie's case, that means changing Mom's "bring one toy onto the couch" into something a lot more hilarious. This is one clever Boston Terrier made for a management role, because she's CEO energy all day!

@chadwick.gertie

She lost count somewhere between one and six 🙃 #dog #doglife #dogmom #bostonterrier #dogsoftiktok

♬ Little Things - Adrián Berenguer

As a dog mom myself, I applaud Gertie's ambition here. She didn't hear "one toy," and if she did, she's adorable, and the rules shouldn't apply. I appreciate the fact that she's committed to looking so meek and innocent, like she did nothing wrong, because she did everything right (dogs, take notes)!

This is why everyone's head over heels for Gertie, and many took to the comments on her behalf, with some proudly proclaiming she should be allowed to bring them all, and I agree! Look how sweet she is, surrounded by them. It's not even the cutest thing she's done recently.

Related: Persistent French Bulldog Has the Cutest Way of Asking for Pets

While other pups are digging holes in the backyard or chewing up their mom's favorite slippers, Gertie is just a sleepy girl in the world, forced to dance the night away so she'll stay awake past 6 p.m. Honestly, this is all of us every Monday, amIright?!

@chadwick.gertie

Maybe a different style of dance would work better??? #dance #dancing #dog #dogsoftiktok #bostonterrier

♬ Austin Powers Theme (Soul Bossa Nova) - N.Y. Jazz Orchestra How Stuffed Animals Help Dogs

Not every dog is as obsessed with a stuffed friend the way Gertie is, but for those who are, it's intense! I have two pups, and only one of them has an affinity for stuffies, mostly for nibbling on when he's feeling anxious. Before rescuing him, I didn't know all the ways having something like that helps—especially when they're rescued from the chaos of a shelter.

Stuffed toys offer comfort to stressed-out or lonely pups while providing an outlet for their instinct to chew on something. The mental stimulation alone is enough reason to offer an abundance of plush options, especially if we have to leave them for any amount of time.

Gertie has the right idea. The more stuffies, the better. In fact, sorry, Mom, but there's no limit on how many are enough!

Dogs are natural caretakers. They can sense when someone is sad or in need of support and often step in to give comfort and any assistance they can provide. The compassion these canines have makes them wonderful service and therapy dogs.

Ella the Shih-Tzu is a perfect example of this empathy, where she took it upon herself to guide her blind brother Duke when they were on a walk.

@malpaldoh

In the TikTok from @malpaldoh, Ella walked a distance ahead of Duke and looked very confident in where she was going. The dog leash was clipped to Ella at one end in front, with Duke secured on the other end behind her. Ella didn't know she'd be serving as a seeing eye dog for the day, but the precious pooch was more than happy to step up.

"A wholesome moment: our blind dog being walked by his sister," the onscreen text explained.

The caption went into greater detail of how their daily strolls are usually handled. "Duke normally rides in the stroller on our walks nowadays," the caption shared. "But last night, he was jumping out of the stroller trying to walk on his own, so we let Ella 'walk him' and our hearts melted."

Followers were moved by Ella's selfless act and the strong bond between the fur baby siblings.

"I’m crying — I have a blind dog named Ellie. This is so sweet," one gushed.

"This is so heartwarming to see," another remarked.

"That’s one good sister," a follower noted.

"They're nothing but heart and love and loyalty!!" someone posted.

How Dogs Show Empathy

Dogs may not be able to talk, but their love language speaks volumes. Their gentle and kind actions show the enormous capacity for compassion these canines possess.

A dog's mere presence can be healing. They give comfort with lots of snuggles and being by their loved one's side.

Canines have a sense of loyalty beyond compare. They are dedicated to their family members, pet siblings, and fur baby friends and show it through their love and companionship.

Dogs are equal opportunity lovebugs — they don't care about size, age, race, or financial bracket. They give their hearts to those they love.

With Ella happily on the job, Duke will get to enjoy plenty of walks.

Nobody Expected What This Stray Cat Brought Back 3 Months Later

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 6:55am

The stray Tabby cat in this video has apparently been quietly running a long-term emotional operation for months now, because the ending completely wrecked people online.

A woman shared the touching moment when she discovered the neighborhood stray peacefully sleeping at her doorstep with her head resting directly on top of a tiny toy mouse she had been given months earlier.

Shared by TikTok user @frank.and.beans5, she explained in the caption, “This stray cat has been coming to our door since the day we moved in.”

“On that day, I gave her a toy mouse.”

Then came the part that made everyone emotional.

“Three months later, I found her like this.”

Related: Foster Kitten Discovers Toys for the First Time and Doesn’t Know What To Do First

The clip shows the beautiful Tabby cat curled up outside the home, fast asleep, while gently cuddling the little toy mouse like it had become one of her prized possessions.

Honestly, it feels less like a random cat video and more like the emotional climax of a tiny independent film about trust.

People in the Comments Declared That the Cat Had Officially Chosen Her Human:

• “That’s your cat now.”
• “That sweetheart belongs inside.”
• “Congratulations, you’re now the property of a cat.”
• “Hey bestie, congrats on your cat.”
• “That would be the cat distribution system fully at work.”

And honestly? The cat distribution system allegations do feel very strong here.

Because the toy mouse detail somehow makes the entire thing feel incredibly intentional. Out of all the places she could sleep, she specifically curled up with the tiny gift she had been given months earlier.

Meanwhile, my Maine Coon, Meatball, also becomes emotionally attached to random toys, although, unfortunately, his preferred method of affection involves dropping them directly into his water bowl until they resemble tiny drowned potatoes.

Cats often form attachments to toys that trigger hunting instincts, provide comfort, or become associated with positive experiences and safe environments.

Many Cats Especially Love Toys That:

• Are small enough to carry
• Mimic prey animals like mice
• Have familiar scents
• Feel comforting or routine
• Are connected to favorite people or places

Animal experts also note that friendly stray cats may slowly build trust over time through repeated positive interactions with humans.

And judging by this sweet Tabby, one tiny toy mouse may have become her way of saying she finally felt safe.

What to Know About Bengal Cats Before Bringing One Home

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 6:10am

With their leopard-like coats and endless curiosity, Bengal cats are one of the most striking feline breeds out there. Yet behind their exotic appearance is a highly intelligent, affectionate and energetic companion that thrives on interaction, play and plenty of mental stimulation. So, are Bengal cats good pets? Read on to find out everything you need to know about Bengal cats before bringing one home.

After all, before officially getting any cat it’s important to understand what life with this breed will really be like. From personality traits and care needs to costs and potential challenges, there’s a lot to consider before making a commitment to become a pet parent.

Below's your inside scoop on Bengal cats with vet insight so you can decide with confidence if this is the perfect cat breed for you or not.

What Is a Bengal Cat? A domestic hybrid Bengal cat laying down.

Getty Images Kseniya Ovchinnikova

A Bengal cat is a domestic hybrid breed created by crossing an Asian leopard cat with a house cat, such as an Egyptian Mau. Bengals are known for their wild, exotic appearance and striking leopard coats, but their domestic lineage gives them affectionate, pet-like personalities.

Are Bengal Cats Domestic or Wild?

Despite their exotic appearance and ancestry, Bengal cats are considered fully domestic pets. Most Bengal cats today are several generations removed from their Asian leopard cat ancestors, making them social, loving cats that thrive in home environments. While they retain high energy levels and playful instincts (including a love for playing in water), Bengals aren’t wild animals.

Bengal Cat Personality Traits

What's a Bengal cat's personality like? According to veterinarian Dr. Sarah Wooten, Bengals are known for being highly intelligent, athletic, curious and interactive. “This is not usually a couch-potato cat breed,” she stresses. “Bengals tend to want something to do, climb or investigate, and ideally, a human who is willing to participate.”

Domestic Bengal cats tend to be vocal companions known for their “dog-like” personalities. They require significant daily interaction and vertical space, making them a great fit for active households.

Bengals, who have a love for water, can often be found playing in the sink or shower. It’s important to give these cats plenty of enrichment, as they can easily grow bored or destructive. “Many cats enjoy play, but Bengals often need more structured enrichment than the average cat,” Wooten says. “Puzzle feeders, climbing spaces, wand toys, training games and environmental variety can make a big difference for this breed.”

How Big Do Bengal Cats Get?

Are Bengcal cats big cats? Bengal cats are medium-to-large muscular and athletic felines. They generally weigh between 8-18 or more pounds, though males are typically larger. Some males can even reach up to 22 pounds. They’re known for their long, sturdy bodies and active, climbing-oriented nature.

Are Bengal Cats Good Family Pets? A family-friendly Bengal cat with its pet mom.

Bengal cats are highly affectionate, intelligent and social, but their high energy needs and significant mental stimulation and playtime requirements will require a specific home life.

“Bengals can make wonderful pets in the right home, but they’re not always the best fit for someone who wants a low-maintenance, quiet and independent cat,” Wooten says. “They tend to do best with people who enjoy an active, engaged cat and are willing to provide daily play, enrichment and attention.”

That being said, Bengal cats are known for forming strong bonds with family members and will often follow their humans around or curl up beside them while sleeping at night.

“Before getting a Bengal, people should honestly ask themselves whether they want a cat that may climb, jump, explore, vocalize, open things, demand play and get into absolutely everything,” Wooten says. “For the right person, that’s part of the charm. For the wrong household, it can feel overwhelming.”

Why Bengal Cats Are So Expensive

If you're thinking of getting a Bengal cat, just know they are expensive. A Bengal cat from a reputable breeder can easily cost between $1,000-$5,000. These prices stem from a high demand for their exotic, leopard-like appearance, as well as significant breeding investments in top-tier pedigrees that often involve importing cats.

Bengal kittens meant for breeding or showing, or those with rare and refined patterns (like charcoal, blue or silver) can even cost as high as $10,000 or more.

Common Bengal Cat Health Problems

Bengal cats tend to be a healthy and robust breed with a lifespan of 12-16 or more years, but they’re prone to certain genetic, heart and gastrointestinal conditions. These include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), progressive retinal atrophy (PRA-b), pyruvate kinase deficiency (PK-Def) and sensitive stomach issues that may require a specific diet.

“Like all breeds, Bengals can be predisposed to certain inherited health concerns, so responsible breeding matters,” Wooten says. “Prospective owners should look for breeders who perform appropriate health screening and are transparent about their lines.”

How To Care for a Bengal Cat

Domestic Bengal cats should get at least 30-60 minutes of daily active playtime, including climbing spaces and puzzle toys to satisfy their high intelligence and hunting instincts. Their high energy levels also require a high-protein diet primarily based on meat to help maintain calorie requirements.

Bengals are best-kept as indoor cats, but it’s also a good idea to give them a secure, enclosed outdoor area (such as a “catio”) where they can safely explore their surroundings. This breed is highly trainable and can learn how to play fetch or walk on a leash, which helps burn energy.

Their short coat is also low-maintenance and requires brushing just once a week.

Are Bengal Cats Legal Everywhere?

While Bengal cats are legal in most places, several U.S. states, cities and countries ban or heavily restrict them due to their wild Asian leopard cat ancestry. Bengals are currently banned statewide in Hawaii and Connecticut, as well as in New York City and Seattle, WA.

Alaska, Georgia and Iowa typically require Bengals to be at least four generations removed from the Asian leopard cat ancestry, while Delaware requires a permit for Bengal ownership.

Still, if you’re up for it and your state or city allows Bengal cat ownership, this breed offers a rewarding companionship and a highly engaging, active and intelligent personality.

“Bengals are such a fascinating breed because they look wild, but they’re still very much domestic cats with very real domestic cat needs,” Wooten says. “They’re beautiful, athletic, intelligent and often a lot more ‘extra’ than people expect.”

8 Surprising Words That Get Your Dog’s Attention Every Time

Sun, 05/24/2026 - 5:10am

Even though you and your dog communicate differently and don’t speak the same language, your pup may understand far more than you realize—including the words you say every day.

“Dogs absolutely can learn words—sometimes a lot of them,” says Alexandra Bassett, CPDT-KA, lead dog trainer at Dog Savvy Positive Dog Training. “But as non-verbal animals, they rely heavily on tone of voice, body language, facial expressions, and daily routines—often even more than the actual words themselves.”

Bassett describes dogs as “tiny detectives,” constantly observing human behavior and learning through patterns and repetition. “That’s why your dog might get excited when you casually say, ‘Wanna go for a walk?’ but also somehow knows you’re leaving the house before you say a word,” she says. “They notice the small details—your keys, your shoes, the leash, even subtle shifts in your energy or routine.”

From a dog behavior standpoint, this comes down to association. Dogs learn to connect specific words and actions with meaningful outcomes like walks, food, or attention. “The more emotionally meaningful something is, the faster dogs tend to learn it,” Bassett says.

If you’re working on dog training or trying to teach your dog new words, consistency is key. Repeating cues in the same context helps your furbaby build clear and lasting associations over time. Keep reading to discover 8 words that dogs pay attention to instantly, according to a trainer. You may be surprised!

8 Words That Dogs Pay Attention To Right Away A dog running when it hears a word it recognizes.

If your dog hears certain words often in your daily routine, they quickly learn to recognize and respond to them—even before you realize it.

Dogs are highly attuned to patterns in human speech, especially words tied to routines, emotions, or rewards, which is why some simple phrases can instantly grab their attention.

“Walk”

If you want to instantly get your dog’s attention, trainers recommend you use this word when communicating with them.

Walk” is one of the strongest word associations that dogs have, according to Bassett. “Walks are the main event of the day for most dogs,” she explains. “It predicts smells, movement, exploring and maybe seeing dogs or people.” But dogs can also pick up on related words like "ready?" “leash” and “outside.”

“Cheese”

When it comes to words dogs respond to, ones related to their favorite foods can improve dog recall.

If your dog loves a different treat like peanut butter or a dog cookie, you can simply swap them in for cheese. “Food is such a powerful reinforcer,” Bassett says, noting that dogs will learn “snack,” “dinner,” “breakfast” or even “pup cup” if you take your pooch to Starbucks or similar chains.

“Look”

Of all the dog training tips our expert provides, she notes that saying the word "look" can be a powerful way tp get your dog to pay attention to you.

“This becomes meaningful because it usually predicts treats, engagement and teamwork,” Bassett says. “When practiced regularly, ‘look’ can become almost automatic, especially around distractions, if lots of treats are involved.”

“Daddy's home” / “Mommy's home”

Many dogs quickly learn the sounds and patterns that signal when their favorite person is about to walk through the door—and these words can instantly light them up.

“Dogs often recognize cues around arrival times, like hearing ‘Daddy’s home’ when a car pulls up,” Bassett says. “Many of them get very excited because they’ve learned it means someone they love is back,” she adds.

Related: 10 Signs Your Dog Is Happy, Relaxed and Trusts You, According to a Trainer

“Frisbee”

Dogs who love to play often become “obsessed” with words related to their favorite games, including “fetch,” “ball” and “toy,” Bassett says. “They predict excitement, interaction and exercise,” she points out.

So, no matter if you have a big dog or a small one, keep this word on hand the next time you want to see if your dog is listening to you.

“Good Boy” / “Good Girl”

When commmunicating with your dog each day or training them, being positive is key. The best part is, when dog moms and dog dads say phrases like this, you'll notice they are words that your dog pays attention to.

“Dogs may not understand this phrase the way humans do emotionally, but they absolutely learn, ‘When humans say this in that voice…good things happen,’” Bassett says. “The tone matters a lot here.”

“Ride”

For some furry companions, hearing this word is pure excitement—it can instantly grab their attention and signal something fun is about to happen.

“Some dogs hear it and think, ‘best day ever,’” Bassett says. “Others react very differently, like ‘absolutely not—veterinarian trap detected.’”

“Bath”

Even if your dog isn’t a fan of bath time, this word is one they recognize instantly—and it’s great at getting their attention.

“Some dogs hear ‘bath’ and think, ‘best day ever,’” Bassett says. “Others react a little differently, but either way, they’ve learned to connect the word with something important that’s about to happen,” she adds.

Bernese Mountain Dog Poses Next to Her Perfect 'Mini-Me' Version, Making the Perfect Dynamic Duo

The internet is having an emotional reaction to this sweet video of a Bernese Mountain Dog named Marlie and her new mini-me Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. They make the perfect duo.

Though their sizes couldn't be more contrasting, they have the same matching appearance and expressions.

How To Introduce Large Dogs to Puppies

Introducing a large dog to a puppy can seem daunting, but there is a proper way to do it.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that an instant friendship may not be forged between the two dogs, and you shouldn't force it.

Though Marlie and her mini-me look quite cordial, it can take some dogs with a big age and size difference days, weeks, or even months to become comfortable with each other, and then hopefully, they become good friends.

Here are some of the most important things to keep in mind when introducing a larger and older dog to a small puppy:

  • Have a thorough knowledge of each dog's age, temperament, and background before you introduce them.
  • Make sure to first introduce them on neutral territory outside the home.
  • Both dogs should be on leashes to start.
  • Allow the dogs to sniff and observe each other naturally.
  • Be sure to observe body language to ensure the pups don't seem stressed or in fear.
  • Be sure to use positive reinforcement for both dogs, such as treats and praise.
  • If the interaction isn't going smoothly, separate the dogs.
  • Gradually increase shared time together.

Though it's not quite clear if this is Marlie's sibling, her own puppy, or just a dog her parents adopted who's the same breed, these two will have a strong and emotional bond.

At Different Moments in the Clip:

• His bright white face suddenly appears.
• His little white paws peek out.
• He disappears dramatically behind the chair.
• Everyone watching immediately loses their minds.

The kitty’s markings are so oddly perfect that commenters became deeply distracted by one extremely specific detail: his missing “socks.”

People in the Comments Were Absolutely Cracking Up:

• “I’ve never seen a cat without socks.”
• “His hands are inside his sleeves.”
• “Can you please take him to the tailor? His sleeves are way too long on his tuxedo.”
• “I love how we’re all shocked that he doesn’t have his socks on.”
• “I’ve never seen a mittenless cat in my life.”

Honestly, the “mittenless cat” comment completely took me out because now he really does look like a tiny Victorian child whose coat sleeves are too long.

And the way he slowly pops up behind the chair somehow makes the whole thing feel even more cartoonish.

Clever Little Dachshund Invents Way To Play Fetch by Himself, Without Human Help

Sat, 05/23/2026 - 7:20pm

If there's one true thing to know about dogs, it's that they love a good game of fetch. One Austin, Texas Dachshund named Biff is getting massive praise for a clever fetch strategy that needs no human help, and it's seriously impressive!

@laurenrayxvx

this was the cutest thing i’ve ever seen😭💗 #bartonsprings #austintexas #dogsoftiktok #socute

♬ awww so cute - Cherri ⁉️

The video shows the genius Dachshund tossing his toy into the water downstream, jogging alongside as it flows down into the deep water, and jumping in to retrieve it. The fetch game runs in a cycle as people in awe cheered for the little guy, who was having the time of his life.

Fellow bystander, @laurenrayxvx shared the clips, though she's not the first to have noticed Biff's sweet fetch skills. He's become something of a Barton Springs celebrity, and neither he nor his dad knows about it!

Related: Dachshund's Sweet Love Story With the Family Cat Is Straight Out of a Disney Flick

Hundreds of people swarmed the comments, with many saying they know Biff and have seen him in action, so this must be a regular spot for the talented boy. I wish there were more videos showcasing this amazing event, or Biff in his downtime, but one person's reply stated his dad doesn't have social media.

Alas, Biff made me think of another Dachshund who loves fetch. Though Daphne isn't entertaining herself by using water energy, she's figured out how to get a baby to throw the ball, which is also pretty cool.

@jillianmariejohnson89

Did we make some progress on ball throwing? You tell me. 🎾 #dachshund #dachshundsoftiktok #newborn #futurebesties #bestfriends #fetch #babiesoftiktok #babiesanddogs #minidachshund #doxiesoftiktok

♬ original sound - Jillian Johnson How Smart Are Dachshunds?

By the looks of what Biff is capable of, I'd bet all my money on the breed running the world one day! Dachshunds are extremely smart and renowned for being independent thinkers—sometimes to the point of being a tad stubborn (especially if there's nothing in it for them).

As dogs who hunted small prey like badgers on their own, Dachshunds have to be sharp and prepared to do what they think is necessary to get the job done. Sometimes it translates into ignoring their humans in exchange for what they think is best, and as you can see with Biff, it works out!

Though we can't fully measure a dog's intelligence the way we can with humans, these pups are not known to be fast learners, but they've been shown to be resourceful through stellar problem-solving skills and resourcefulness, unlike many other breeds.

Dachshunds are also good at reading us, though they're going to want something to motivate them to do as we say. These aren't usually the people-pleasing type, but they sure are cute. If you're ever near Barton Springs and catch Biff in his natural element, you'll know all you need to about how intelligent these adorable dogs really are (and tell him we said hi)!
