Playful Cat Gets the Zoomies and Literally Runs up the Wall

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 7:20pm

Most cats get the zoomies. This cat apparently got a software update.

Because instead of simply sprinting around the house like a normal feline maniac, he decided gravity was more of a suggestion than an actual rule.

The result is one of the funniest cat videos I've seen in a while.

@theclustercluckfarm

Finally got the whole climb on video....Since so many people thought I put her up there for the views 🙄 and her siblings decided to join in! #catsoftiktok #batcat #catman #cat #crazycat

♬ オリジナル楽曲 - queen_greatest_pop - queen_greatest_pop

Shared on the TikTok account @theclustercluckfarm, the chaotic clip shows a gray-and-white cat racing around the room at top speed before suddenly launching himself up a doorway and hanging there like some sort of furry superhero.

For a brief moment, he appears to completely forget he's a kitty and becomes something closer to a squirrel, a gymnast, or possibly Spider-Man.

Related: Tabby Cat Has a Tiny Doll Version of Herself and People Are Losing It

But the best part is that he isn't the only character in this masterpiece.

As the wall-climbing cat dangles from the doorway, one of his gray siblings immediately joins the action by reaching up and scratching at the same spot.

Then, just when you think the scene can't get any more chaotic, a Tuxedo cat comes flying into the room, slides dramatically across the floor, and disappears again like he had an important appointment elsewhere.

The comments section was every bit as entertaining as the video itself.

"I aspire to this level of upper-body strength."

"Spider Cat, Spider Cat, doing whatever a Spider Cat can."

"I am so glad my cats haven't realized they can do that."

And perhaps the most relatable observation:

"Every character in this video was fantastic, thank you."

Honestly, that commenter nailed it.

This isn't one cat video.

It's an ensemble cast.

Every kitty seems to have a different role.

One is the athlete.

One is the curious sidekick.

One is the comic relief who arrives, causes confusion, and immediately exits stage left.

Viewers were also amazed that all three cats somehow caught the zoomies at exactly the same time.

Anyone who lives with multiple cats knows this phenomenon can happen without warning. One cat starts running, another joins in, and suddenly the entire house looks like a feline NASCAR event.

Why Do Cats Get the Zoomies?

The zoomies, sometimes called frenetic random activity periods (FRAPs), are short bursts of energy that cause cats to run, jump, climb, and act unusually energetic.

Cats Often Get the Zoomies When They:

• Have excess energy to burn

• Feel playful

• Are excited

• Finish using the litter box

• Want attention

• Are responding to another kitty's behavior

Young cats and kittens tend to experience zoomies more frequently, especially when living with other playful cats.

And if this video proves anything, it's that when one cat gets the zoomies, sometimes the entire cast decides to join the production.

This Golden Retriever's Reaction To Becoming a Big Sister Is Hilariously Dramatic

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 6:20pm

Golden Retrievers are famous for being friendly, soft-hearted, and generally thrilled to be included in whatever is happening. That's exactly why this video is so funny to me. When a breed known for sweetness looks personally offended by one tiny new sibling, the contrast is gold. Goldens are normally described as outgoing and eager to please, which makes Nola's dramatic reaction even better.

The setup is perfect. Someone is holding a brand-new Golden Retriever puppy named Nash and asks, in that hopeful voice people use when they are trying to launch a very cute family moment, whether the older dog wants to come say hi. Then the camera pans over, and there is Nola, facing the window like she has just received devastating news and would now like some privacy.

@nola.nash.thegoldens

I know she will love her brother but right now she’s so confused 😂 #newpuppy #seconddog #goldenretrieverpuppy #goldenretrieverlife #dogcomedy

♬ original sound - Nola & Nash

That's why this clip is so great.

She isn't barking, lunging, or throwing a fit. She is doing something much better. She's quietly, visibly, spiritually not OK. The post basically says she will love the new baby eventually, but at this exact moment, confusion is running the household. Nola doesn't look angry so much as betrayed by the speed of recent developments.

If you have ever watched an older dog process a new puppy, you know that face. (Mine threw the new pup off the couch.) It's the face of a dog realizing the peaceful era has ended.

One comment joked about whether there was still a receipt, which is brutal and also extremely in line with the vibe here. Because Nash looks adorable, tiny, innocent, and absolutely impossible to blame. Meanwhile, Nola is trying to hold herself together like a sitcom mom who just found out her quiet weekend has been canceled forever.

What I love most is that the video never needs to force the joke. The whole thing is already there in body language. Nash is just being a puppy. Nola is having a hard day. And somewhere in between those two truths is us laughing and feeling a little sad for both animals.

If you have ever brought a puppy home, you can probably feel the next chapter coming. Nola will almost certainly end up loving him. The older dog usually does. But first, there's this stage, the one where the puppy is all promise and chaos, and the resident dog is left wondering whether anyone considered her opinion before introducing a tiny Golden tornado into her home.

How To Help an Older Dog Adjust to a New Puppy

If you're bringing home a puppy to a dog who's used to being the only baby, the biggest gift you can give both dogs is time. The AKC notes that older dogs and puppies usually need careful introductions, supervised time together, breaks from each other, and enough exercise and structure, so the puppy isn't constantly climbing into the older dog’s face.

Nola did not lose her place in the family. She just got promoted to exhausted older sister, and frankly, the woman deserves a minute.

Dachshund Gets VIP Treatment With Her Own Seat on a Beach Golf Cart

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 5:55pm

There's nothing like riding in style, and this Dachshund named Lady has definitely accomplished that.

The little dog has her own special Dachshund beach golf cart seat, and she couldn't look cooler.

@abbybaffoe

Lady riding dirty 💅💅

♬ original sound - lala

This dog is living her best life riding in her own special seat in a golf cart.

We wouldn't expect anything less from Lady the Dachshund's mom, Abby Baffoe, who is an influencer.

Lady already has quite a glamorous life, full of photo shoots, fancy hotel stays, and eating caviar, and we hear that her next trip is going to be an influencer trip to Paris with her mom for Tresemme.

So her riding in style in a golf cart at her mom's new beach house in Michigan absolutely lines up.

Related: Lady the Dachshund and Her Mom Celebrate Her Gotcha Day Anniversary and We're Crying

Why Dogs Love Riding in Golf Carts

So why do dogs love riding in golf carts (besides the coolness factor)?

Think about how much a dog loves riding in a regular car with their head sticking out the window.

They do that because by sticking their heads out, their very powerful smell senses are stimulated by the many, many scents rapidly passing by.

It's all new smells every second!

So, in an open-air vehicle like a golf cart, that's like having your head out the window the entire time.

It is truly a dog's dream!

Dogs also love the adventure a car ride represents, so think about all the adventure a golf cart in a beach town presents.

It's too much fun for Lady!

Pups also like car rides because they enjoy being with their families. They don't want to miss out on anything.

Lady, the Dachshund, is her mother's constant companion (except for a few trips a year), so she would definitely want to be a part of any fun golf cart ride!

It should also be noted that Lady is safely secured in the golf cart in a special dog car seat meant just for golf carts.

Meet the Real-Life Garfield: This Enormous Orange Cat Has People Absolutely Losing It

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 5:20pm

Garfield is arguably one of the most iconic fictional characters to ever exist, and it's largely because of his insatiable appetite for lasagna, chilling out in front of the TV, and giving thicker felines someone they can relate to. Now, there's a new plus-size Orange Cat in town, and she's beautifully large in all the best ways.

♬ original sound - Chris Seelbach How To Help an Overweight Cat

Gaining a few pounds isn't that big of a deal for a grown human, but for cats, it can interfere with daily mobility. As Hill's Pet explains, managing a cat's weight doesn't have to be difficult or intimidating. With a few tweaks, your kitty will be back within a healthy weight range in no time.

There are plenty of online tools to help calculate food portions, but make sure there aren't any underlying medical issues first. These tools can help you establish a target weight and daily calorie goals, and they can also suggest the right brand of food for your kitty.

Slower weight loss is better than fast. A good goal is 1% to 2% of their body weight a week. If they lose weight too quickly, they can develop hepatic lipidosis, so again, consult with a vet. Other weight loss tips for your fur baby include:

  • Eliminate free-feeding and offer only scheduled meals.
  • Increase physical activity.
  • Manage treats.
  • Try puzzles to make them work for their food.
  • Add wet food to help them feel full longer.

Pumpkin is an adorable plus-size girl whom we love no matter her size. But now that she's on a health journey, we can't wait to see how much better she feels a few months from now. You can do it, Pumpkin!

Blue Jay Following Big Savannah Cat Home Could Be a Children’s Book

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 5:00pm

Savannah cats feel like one of those pets you absolutely should not have in your home. They look like they belong, as their name might suggest, on the Savannah. However, they're not only safe to have in your home, but a whole lot of fun!

One cat mom has a whole gaggle of cats, including mostly Maine Coons and one Savannah cat. When she took the savannah for a walk recently, though, she almost came home with a new Blue Jay sibling for them all:

@wildmane_mainecoons

It’s also so unlike Rambo to not react to birds flying #catsoftiktok #savannahcat #catlovers #funnycat #f1savannah

♬ original sound - wildmane_mainecoons

Wild Mane Maine Coon Cattery is home to some of the most beautiful cats ever. They specialize in Maine Coons: Rambo, the Savannah cat in this video, is just a bonus boy. He fits in very nicely with his siblings, since they're all super energetic! Their mom must be so tired.

Rambo is a great big brother, and he's an awesome uncle to all of the kittens who pass through the cattery on the way to their forever homes. Since he doesn't actually have any kittens of his own, he has no responsibilities and therefore gets to go on walks.

Related: Huge Savannah Cat Looks Like a Cute House Cheetah—Then His Maine Coon Brother Shows Up

On this walk, a Blue Jay decided to follow him home. His mom was super intrigued: this has never happened before. Rambo also stayed quiet about it, which has also never happened before! He's a noisy boy:

@wildmane_mainecoons

He’ll play the cat influencer part just fine but that doesn’t mean it won’t come with lots of complaints 🤣 #savannahcat #catsoftiktok #funnycat #f1savannah #catlovers

♬ original sound - wildmane_mainecoons

Something about this Blue Jay just sat right with him, apparently. It quietly followed him, and he watched. Next up, I bet the bird will be pecking at the window to get his attention again!

Blue Jays Are Super Curious

If you ever have the opportunity to get up close to a Blue Jay, you are so insanely lucky! These birds can be hard to come by in certain areas, but they're absolutely breathtaking.

Tony Quinn / 500px / Getty Images

Blue Jays can be found mostly in the Eastern and Central United States. There are lookalike species out west, but true Blue Jays won't be found far west of the Rocky Mountains. These birds are:

  • Curious.
  • Intelligent.
  • Nosey.
  • Always on the lookout.

Don't be surprised if a Blue Jay seems to be watching you the whole time you're walking past. They might even follow you, especially if you're carrying a big cat they've never seen before!

Orange Cat Raises Baby Raccoon With Her Kittens—and He Fits Right In

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 4:00pm

Cats get a lot of hate. I have three dogs, but if I could, I would have just as many cats! They're amazing, caring, and loving companions, just like dogs. Unfortunately, I have a dog door, and I'm just not comfortable with my cats going outside like that.

Luckily, there's no shortage of cat videos in the world to help me curb my cravings. Just look at this one! When a postpartum orange cat was grooming her kittens, her mom noticed that something looked a little bit off... And, as it turns out, it was a baby raccoon:

@kit_katkoon

She loves every one of her babies the same! #babyraccoon #petsoftiktok #orangecatbehavior #catsoftiktok #mynameis

♬ son original - LePtitMilo

It legitimately took me three watches the first time to pick out which one was Kit Kat the Baby Raccoon. I had to go to the comments. She blends in way too well! Mama's name is Mango, and she didn't just come home with a baby Raccoon one day: her mom actually brought her home.

Mango was freshly postpartum when the Universal Raccoon Distribution found her mom, and she figured that Mango had more than enough love to go around. She decided to put the baby Raccoon in with the kittens and see what happened.

Related: Grey Maine Coon Gives Birth to a Rainbow of Tiny Kittens—and Each Is Cuter Than the Last

Her gamble paid off, because Mango took in the baby immediately. She's raising the kit (that's what baby Raccoons are called!) as if she's her own baby. The little Raccoon even tries to nurse sometimes, and she fits right in:

@kit_katkoon

Living her best life. Sound on to hear Kitkat chirp and mama purr 😻 #raccoonrescue #kitkatkoon #raccoonsoftiktok #orangecatsarethebest #babyraccoon

♬ original sound - kit_katkoon

You can even hear her chirping! This is the sweetest thing ever. KitKat is also getting bottle-fed by her human caretaker, so she gets all of the nutrients she needs, but she spends most of her time with Mango and her "siblings."

Can Cats Raise Other Babies?

It's not typical for cats to raise baby Raccoons, though it does happen from time to time. One of the best ways to make sure orphaned baby animals are cared for is by putting them with surrogate families.

FotoEvans / Getty Images

Obviously, the best is to find a surrogate family of the same species, but it's not technically necessary. As long as you're making sure they're getting the proper nutrients, a baby animal being raised by another species is totally fine for:

  • Temperature regulation.
  • Socialization.
  • Companionship.

As for the Raccoon of it all, keeping a Raccoon as a pet is not impossible. Mango's mom hasn't said exactly what her plans are for KitKat as she ages, but I hope she at least gets to stay for a while!

The More Birds Double Suet Cake Feeder with Weather Guard is only $14 on Amazon. It's marked as an "Amazon's Choice" item due to its popularity and great reviews.

This feeder holds two suet cakes in separate cages. Suet cakes are high energy blocks of bird food mixed into a cake that birds adore. This is designed to attract woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees and more.

The feeder has a weather guard roof with a durable powder-coated steel construction to help keep the cakes dry in rain or snow. It also has a cage grid with spacing designed for clinging birds like titmouses and nuthatches.

One buyer raves about the feeder: "Really cute, easy to open, solid construction, no assembly required."

You'll also want some suet cakes to go with the feeder. I know from personal experience that C&S Suet Cakes are great in the summer because they don't melt. You might want to try the C&S Woodpecker Suet Treat if you're wanting woodpeckers specifically (an 8 pack is $18.)

My personal recommendation is the C&S Suet Variety Pack — a 24 pack for $40 that comes with Peanut Delight and Berry Treat flavors. Since I started using both of these flavors in my suet feeders, I've attracted woodpeckers for the first time and a variety of other species as well. They love it!

Spotted in store by @costcochika, who promptly shared the news online, the Baby Trend Navigator Plus 2-in-1 Stroller Wagon normally retails for $300, but you can currently find it on the Costco site for $220 or in-store for just $200. Backed by an easy-to-use design and a variety of convenient features, this is not your average baby stroller—it's essentially a high-tech carriage that any good boy or girl would be more than happy to settle into.

As for the features that make it great for small pets, the wagon includes two handles: a push handle with a parent tray, two cupholders and center console storage, plus a pull handle that tucks away when not in use. It also offers dual independent, adjustable canopies with UPF 50+ sun protection that can be removed when not in use.

Down below, the wagon rides on eight-inch front wheels and 11-inch rear wheels for a smooth ride across all surfaces, keeping your fur babies cozy as they sit up and peek over the sides at the world around them. Inside, a spacious cargo area offers built-in seating for two, along with a Seat2Mat accessory that includes a three-point safety harness to keep little ones secure and can also be repurposed for pets if needed.

Basically, whether you're a pet parent or a human parent, this versatile wagon is designed for comfort, security and ease of use, all wrapped in a large, heavy-duty, travel-friendly frame.

"I need this," one fan wrote in response to @costcochika's post. "I want it too," another added while taking a pause, "...for my Frenchies."

On the Costco site, parents wasted no time leaving their own rave reviews. And while most are focused on its convenience for children, the sentiment translates perfectly to pet parents as well.

"This stroller wagon has been a game changer," one parent wrote. "There is plenty of space for a toddler with toys, stuffies, blankets, etc. While traveling to a location, the wagon is functional for transporting my son while also carrying my stuff without becoming a pack mule."

With an 110-pound weight limit and room for two children 6 months and older, snagging this wagon for your pups feels like a no-brainer. Not only that, it's an easy way to bring your fur babies along while giving them a break from walks and the sun when they need it. Even better, it can also be a great fit for senior dogs who still enjoy getting outside, offering a more comfortable way to enjoy the world without stressing them out.

Snag one now while the price is still hot, and while you're at it, keep an eye out for Costco's cozy outdoor pet cot and stylish cat scratcher pedestal for more must-have pet essentials.

'Rare Dog Breeds' Are Finding Homes Thanks to This Remarkable Michigan Shelter

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 11:48am

When an animal shelter joked that it was home to some of the world's "rarest breeds," people couldn't stop watching.

Michigan Animal Rescue League in Pontiac, Mich., recently shared a playful video on Reddit's r/aww, introducing several adoptable dogs with hilariously creative breed descriptions.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

The joke, of course, was that many shelter dogs don't come with official paperwork or fancy pedigrees. But they all have a rare personality and a love for the right person who will bring them home.

You can find the rarest dog breeds at your local shelter 💙
by u/MARLeague in aww The Truth About 'Rare Dogs'

The comments section quickly turned into a celebration of shelter pets.

No two shelter dogs are exactly alike. Some resemble popular breeds. Others look like a delightful mix of different dogs rolled into one. But that is the charm.

One commenter perfectly summed up the video, saying, "All rare, one-of-a-kind purebreds." Another person added, "The super normal orange dog is totally my vibe!"

Meet the 'Rarest' Breeds in Michigan

In the video, a staff member at the Michigan Animal Rescue League introduces the shelter's very special residents.

Fox is a California 4K terrier. Kaya is a middle management people pleaser. Mr. Mime is an anthropomorphic psychic type. Daffodil is a proletarian lounge hound. Honey is a Mongolian ham hock. Pippin is a high-quality local man. Bosco is the Cleveland brown dog. Champ is a cinnamon toast pup.

Related: Dad Discovers His Adorable Shelter Jack Russell Terrier Is Actually a Surprising Mix

The Ones That Broke the Comments Section

Judging by the comments section, two pets were the stars of Michigan Animal Rescue League. The first one is Lorax. As the staff member explained, he is a Lorax.

And then there is Koa, listed in the video as a super normal orange dog. Koa is a cat.

Shelter Dogs Have a Way of Surprising People

Many pet parents who adopt shelter pets discover personalities they never expected. As one person in the comments said, "Got both my weirdos from shelters, it's like a grab bag of mutts. Sif here is a pomsky retriever mix and is scared of everything, but the golden retriever half makes her a love bug."

Those little quirks of shelter dogs often become the traits we cherish the most.

Every Dog Deserves a Chance at a Forever Home

One commenter said, "Shelter dogs are the best." Hard to argue with that. Behind the humor, the Michigan shelter delivered a simple yet powerful message.

Dogs waiting in shelters are not competing in a show. Sometimes, the perfect dog is the one you weren't looking for. Most importantly, it reminded us of a truth many adopters know. Every shelter dog is rare in the one way that matters most. There's only one of them.

Another fan echoed the sentiment, calling the black paw-print design "so cute" and noting that after buying one as a gift for a friend, "the recipient loved it." They also praised the blocks "nice soft color,” which definitely makes styling it around the house even easier.

As for care and durability are concerned, the block is made from a durable MDF material, but it is not treated for outdoor use, so stick to styling it indoors to ensure a long lifetime. With Father’s Day coming up, it could end up being a hot ticket item with such an affordable price and adorable design. Cat Has a Full-On Existential Crisis After Mom Dyes Her Hair a New Color

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 10:26am

Something is not quite right in Bunny the Ragdoll cat’s house. Her mama looks different. Smells different. This situation will require further investigation. For now, trust no one.

Mom apparently dyed her hair. Meanwhile, Bunny the Ragdoll is having a full-on existential crisis.

The TikTok from@fishandbunny shows a Ragdoll cat in full detective mode, following her mom with an unblinking stare that shows absolutely no signs of stopping. She’s just trying to make sense of it all. Who is this?

"She won't stop staring at me like this 😂😂" the caption reads.

@fishandbunny

She won’t stop staring at me like this 😂😂 #fyp #cat #cattok #explorepage✨ #ragdoll

♬ original sound - Shirt Squad app

The text overlay confirms: her mom dyed her hair and the cat is having a genuinely hard time adjusting.

The stare is not aggressive and it’s not fearful. There is no hissing. There is no hiding. It is something more specific and even more devastating: the stare of someone who has noticed a discrepancy in the matrix and will not rest until it is resolved.

Every time mom moves the cat follows with her eyes. The investigation is ongoing and the verdict has not been determined.

The comments understood the situation completely:

"The cat: you're not my regular server"

"Dear Diary, my mother has been replaced with a poorly constructed imposter"

"You changed something without consulting the high council... what did you expect would happen?"

"Sumn ain't right"

"I was in the hospital for almost 3 months. My cat hissed at me 😂"

The high council remains in session. That last comment confirmed this is universal. Every pet has their own version of this stare.

But here's the thing: the cat is not wrong. There is actual science behind why Bunny doesn't recognize her mama right now.

Do Cats Recognize Their Humans by Appearance?

According to Discover Magazine, cats recognize their humans through a complete package: the sound of your voice, the physical shape of your body and your unique personal scent. Mikel Delgado, a certified applied animal behaviorist and founder of Feline Minds, confirms that "your unique scent also plays a role" in how cats can tell their humans apart from strangers.

Research backs this. In one study cats responded more intensely to their human's voice than to a stranger's, immediately stopping what they were doing and moving toward the sound. But voice is only one part of their recognition system. Appearance and scent work together as one integrated package. Change one thing and the system fails.

Hair dye disrupts two of those three signals at once. The visual is different: new color, new look. The smell is different: chemical dye carries a strong scent that can linger. According to Discover, cats can even tell if their feline housemates have been to the vet simply because their scent changed. If a vet visit changes a cat's smell enough to confuse another cat, a full hair dye on mama absolutely qualifies as a disruption to the typical day.

Bunny isn’t confused because she’s forgotten her mama. She is confused because her recognition system is receiving mixed signals. Mama looks different. The voice says yes, this is mama. The smell and appearance say: wait just a minute. Is this mama?

The high council is looking at all available evidence. The stare will continue until we’re sure mama is mama.

She'll figure it out. Probably.

18-Year-Old Deaf Cat Turns Heads With Showstopping Green Eyes and a Surprisingly Loud Voice

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 10:10am

Dogs and cats show signs of aging in various ways. Whether it's their fur going gray, their eyes getting cloudy, or just their bodies moving a little slower, our pets can sometimes give away their age by how they look. Some fur babies have that 'forever young' appearance with the energy level to match. While my 15-year-old Dachshund has definitely acquired more white fur and prefers frequent naps, her 9-year-old Pug mix brother still acts like a puppy.

Chilli the gray cat may have lost her hearing now that she's a senior, but her stunning eyes and epic voice volume reflect a young spirit.

@sebrochi

My sweet girl lost her hearing last year after she turned 18, but continues to have a great spirit and is more mischievous than ever! Makes her presence known to everyone!! #kitty #cats#sweet#old#mygirl

In the TikTok from @sebrochi, the pretty kitty was lying on the bed getting in some nap time. Her mom walked into the room, but Chilli remained asleep. Once her mom was face-to-face with the feline fur baby, Chilli woke up with an impressively loud meow.

"She can't hear anymore due to her age, but she makes sure everyone can hear her," the onscreen text explained.

The feisty feline kept sharing her feelings at full volume as she followed her mom out of the room. Though she's a senior, Chilli seemed to have the energy of a kitten.

"My sweet girl lost her hearing last year after she turned 18, but continues to have a great spirit and is more mischievous than ever!" the caption shared. "Makes her presence known to everyone!!"

'Prettiest Green Eyes'

While Chilli's vocal skills were quite impressive, her striking green eyes stood out the most. The shade of green was almost like a precious jewel and could make anyone stop and stare.

Followers raved over the adorable cat's dazzling eyes and youthful demeanor.

"Her eyes are gorgeous — sweet sweet girl," one gushed.

"She doesn't look 18, still like a kitten," another posted.

"Look at those jade colored eyes," a follower remarked.

"She looks amazing for 18! She still looks like she's 4-5!" someone noted.

Chilli may soon have to share her age-defying secrets with her newly acquired fan base.

5 Rare Cat Breeds That Act Exactly Like Dogs, According to a Behaviorist

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 10:03am

For most dog lovers, the main difference between having a dog or a cat is their contrasting behaviors. In general, dogs are mostly seen as lovable and cuddly pets, while cats tend to have a reputation for being a bit more aloof and distant. It’s a stereotype that cats haven’t been able to shake, no matter how many adorable cat videos pop up on social media showing them as friendly, loving and social pets.

Overall, although cats indeed have a different personality from dogs, that doesn’t mean you can’t experience the same level of love and companionship from a feline friend. Depending on the breed, certain cats may actually be closer to having a ‘puppy cat’ personality, which is much more in line to the behavior you'd expect from a dog.

If you're looking to adopt a more dog-like cat breed, you've come to the right place. We spoke with an expert behaviorist to learn which cat breeds are more likely to have the ‘puppy cat’ personality. And even though these cat breeds tend to have more dog-like characteristics, they still hold on to their true cat instincts, so you really get the best of both worlds with these breeds of cats

Plus, who doesn’t love having a cat around that likes to defy the mold? If you ask us, that's the ultimate cat behavior.

The 'Puppy Cat' Personality: What Does It Actually Mean?

Piotr Musioł/Unsplash

Just like with dogs, there’s no one personality type across all cats. 'Puppy-cat' breeds are breeds of cats that tend to defy the stereotype of cats and show more dog-like behavior in cat size.

“Certain breeds are known for dog-like tendencies, such as following their people from room to room, greeting at the door, playing fetch, vocalizing more, being highly social, trainable or even leash tolerant,” says Amber Batteiger, a veterinary technician and the public relations and communications manager at Embrace Pet Insurance with experience in animal welfare shelter environments. “But personality is never guaranteed by breed alone.”

Similar to certain dog breeds like golden retrievers that are known for being goofy and high-energy, puppy-cat breeds tend to deliver personalities that are much more social and outwardly friendly than other cat breeds. However, just as with dogs, there’s no certainty that your pet will exhibit these exact behaviors.

Rare Cat Breeds That Act Like Dogs

Phil Hearing/Unsplash

While many cat breeds share certain characteristics, there are several cat breeds that tend to act more like dogs.

Batteiger says these cat breeds are commonly described as being dog-like:

  • Abyssinian
  • Turkish Van
  • Maine Coon
  • Burmese
  • Devon Rex

She also notes that these cats often require more engagement, enrichment and social interaction than you may expect, so keep that in mind if you're considering one of these dog-like cat breeds.

These cats are known for being more energetic and social, which are traits typically associated with puppies. However, a higher energy level also calls for much more physical activity and mental stimulation to keep them happy.

The Catch to Owning a 'Puppy Cat'

Linker Design/Unsplash

Like adopting a dog, there are pros and cons when bringing a ‘puppy cat’ into your home. Just as dogs need more mental stimulation to keep them healthy and regulated, these cat breeds will need more one-on-one attention than other breeds, which may mean a significant lifestyle change for you as well.

“A highly social, intelligent cat can become bored, stressed, destructive or vocal if their mental and physical needs aren’t met,” Batteiger says. “A dog-like cat may need puzzle feeders, interactive play, climbing opportunities, training, companionship and routine, not just a scratching post and a bowl of food.”

Why a Dog-Like Cat Needs More Than Just a Scratching Post

Daniel Zopf/Unsplash

As Batteiger said, dog-like cats require much more than just a bed and scratching post to keep themselves entertained and happy. Just as important as physical exercise, these cat breeds also need mental stimulation to help deter destructive behaviors like clawing, biting or scratching, which may happen if a cat is bored and understimulated.

Puzzle feeders and interactive play may help these cats burn off extra energy and give them the chance to act on their cat instincts in a safe and fun way.

Can They Be Left Alone?

Alice/Unsplash

Whenever you leave a pet alone at home, it’s important to take into consideration their individual personality and behavior.

“It depends on the cat, but many of these personalities do better with substantial enrichment, consistent interaction or even another compatible pet,” Batteiger says. “Some are far more social than the stereotypical 'independent cat' people imagine.”

Is a 'Puppy Cat' the Right Fit for Your Home?

Jack Plant/Unsplash

Adding any new pet to the home calls for plenty of research and realistic expectation setting. Depending on your lifestyle and willingness to alter your routines, you may find that a more social cat may or may not be the best fit for your life and lifestyle.

Batteiger says expectation setting matters. "People often want a cat because they assume it’s lower maintenance than a dog, but some of these cats function more like tiny, opinionated roommates with very strong feelings and enrichment needs,” she says.

If you find that a dog-like cat might be too much high maintenance and you aren’t able to put in as much time, it might be best to lean toward a more traditional low-maintenance cat breed.

Where to Ethically Find These Rare Breeds

Image via Shutterstock/Maria Onoper

No matter where you're looking to adopt a cat from, whether it's from a shelter, a foster rescue or a breeder, it’s important to do ample research on who you are reaching out to and learn more about their organization and policies.

“I’d encourage conversations around responsible breeders, health testing [and] temperament, and avoiding impulse purchases based on viral personality trends or aesthetics,” Batteiger says. "Rescue cats and mixed-breed cats can absolutely have 'puppy-cat' personalities too, and shelters are full of highly social, people-oriented cats that may surprise you. If someone is looking for a dog-like cat, I’d encourage them to tell shelter staff or foster-based rescues exactly what traits they’re seeking.”

Batteiger adds that “breed can influence tendencies, but individual temperament matters just as much.”

While these cat breeds might be more inclined to act like a typical dog, it shouldn’t be surprising to find that they may act differently than you would expect. Once you find a feline friend you want to bring home—whether it's a dog-like cat breed or another cat breed entirely—it's important to do a few things first. To ensure a happy match for both of you, interact with and get to know the cat, ask questions, see if they have the personality you're seeking and learn if they fit with your lifestyle.

Cocker Spaniel Hasn’t Had a Walk Because of the Heatwave—and It Definitely Shows

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 9:20am

I think Cocker Spaniels are one of those dogs who seem to feel everything at full volume. Happy, devastated, offended, thrilled, betrayed, lightly inconvenienced, they don't really believe in moderation. They have those soft little faces and those giant emotional eyes, but under all that beauty is a creature fully capable of acting like one missed walk has destroyed the social fabric of home.

This video is the perfect example of that lack of moderation.

View this post on Instagram

It's has been too hot for a proper walk, and this Spaniel is now on the couch, acting like a Victorian woman who has just received tragic news. Imagine being a Cocker Spaniel during a heatwave, having your regular walk ripped away from you by the weather. And honestly, yes. The suffering appears profound.

Not real suffering, obviously.

But dramatic suffering?

Elite.

The dog is flopping around on the couch with that very specific overcooked Spaniel energy, the kind that says there's too much emotion in the body and nowhere appropriate for it to go. You can tell there is energy to burn, complaints to file, and no legal outlet left except becoming a full indoor spectacle.

I think this video is absolutely hilarious.

We are witnessing the collective misery of Cocker Spaniel parents or any active breed during a heatwave, and it really does feel like a support group kind of situation. Somewhere out there, hundreds of people are staring at one very under-walked Cocker Spaniel thinking, yes, this is now my whole personality until the temperature drops.

And then there's the blanket.

One person in the comments pointed out that the look to the camera with the blanket wig is about the most Spaniel thing imaginable, and unfortunately, that is dead on. They don't know how funny they are (maybe they do), which helps everything be devastatingly funny.

Marnie has appointed herself president of the anti-heatwave resistance.

No fresh air.
No proper walk.
No justice.
No peace.

This video doesn't overcomplicate anything. Just one dog on a couch, deeply unable to cope with the fact that responsible humans aren't letting her roast on the sidewalk. The tension between "you are being dramatic" and "to be fair, I also get weird when I'm stuck inside too long" helps the moment land. My Heeler mix and I have this convo all the time.

People with these breeds know that, to reach the end of the day, without a walk, our animals are not merely bored.

They are inspired.

Inspired to pace, flop, stare, whine, and become the softest, prettiest little hostage negotiator in the house until somebody makes the sun more acceptable.

I respect the commitment.

View this post on Instagram How To Keep Dogs Safe and Busy During a Heatwave

When it is dangerously hot outside, skipping or shortening walks is the right call. According to the AKC, dogs are safer when exercise is shifted to cooler early-morning or evening hours, and hot days are better handled with shade, water, and lighter activity instead of strenuous outings. Indoor enrichment can help fill the gap, too (My Heeler loves ones that involve tennis balls). Things like sniff games, training, frozen treats, short play sessions, and low-key mental work are ideal.

This Spaniel didn't miss one walk. In her mind, she survived a national tragedy.

Spoiled Maine Coon Cat Sits in the Sink and Completely Overflows

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 9:00am

Cats have this thing where they like to sit in places where they definitely don't fit. In fact, if you get them a spot to sit where they actually do fit, they're probably never going to go there. They like to fit very tightly into their spaces.

One Maine Coon has an easier time being too big for most of her sitting spaces than other cats. While another cat might stop at a small box or a basket, she hardly even fits in a whole sink:

@the_maine_coonies_

the cats own the sinks #fyp #mainecoon #catsoftiktok #mainecoonsoftiktok #mainecooncat

♬ original sound - the_maine_coonies_

The Maine Coonies are three Maine Coons living under one roof, but that's not all: they almost always have at least one foster kitten running around. Their mom owns an animal rescue! She brings home the kittens who need the most help, or at least the most protection.

Nobody is going to mess with a house that has three guardian lions in it... Except for the kittens themselves, of course. The kittens that their mom brings home love to test their patience, and more importantly, they test their new teeth.

Related: Baby Kitten Treats Maine Coon Cat Like a Giant Chew Toy

The one in this video is Luna, the only female Maine Coon in the bunch. Though she's a female, she's actually the one who spends the least amount of time with the kittens. She's much too busy with her little brothers, who annoy her greatly:

@the_maine_coonies_

the girliest meows from dexter lol #catsoftiktok #mainecooncat #mainecoonlovers #fyp #mainecooncatsoftiktok

♬ original sound - the_maine_coonies_

She's fed up. These days, she prefers quiet getaway spots, and apparently, the sink is perfect for that, even if she barely fits. She's the smallest of the three and already spilling out: I wonder what it would look like if her brothers tried this, too!

Why Do Cats Sit In Weird Places?

It's pretty rare that you'll find a cat who's just sitting out in the open on the floor. They're not like dogs! They'd much rather be secluded and curled up somewhere.

Nynke van Holten / Getty Images

Cats will find weird places to sit based on a few factors:

  • Warmth: cats like places where they can curl up to conserve body heat.
  • Visibility: they're more likely to choose a spot where they can see, but not be seen.
  • Height: cats typically seek higher ground.
  • Texture: cats like smooth and/or soft surfaces.

For Luna, she probably chose the sink because it's up off the ground, and the smooth, cool ceramic feels nice and keeps her comfortable. It's hot out these days, and she's basically wearing a fur coat!

Rescue Dog Sprints to Mom for Hug After 'Terrifying' Run-in With Leaves

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 8:55am

Having dogs means staying up to date on who (or what) they consider to be an archenemy, and it can change fast. For New Jersey rescue dog, Aurora, one of those fears came to fruition when terrifying leaves got stuck to her paw. In this harrowing tale of tragedy to triumph, the sweet pup's determination to overcome her fears began with Mom's comfort and reassurance that it would all be OK.

♬ the cat from ipanema - j1gggs Why Are Some Dogs Scared of Random Things?

If you've ever had a terrified pup, you've probably had a moment or two where they've encountered the most random thing and decided it's absolutely terrifying. I have two dogs: one who barks at everything that moves, and another who trips over her feet in fear of yard signs, motorcycles, trash cans, and the occasional flying leaf!

Experts say this kind of fear response stems from a few things, such as:

  • Lack of early socialization
  • A negative association that created a phobia
  • They're in the "fear stage," which happens during adolescence
  • An underlying medical issue that should get checked by a vet

Dogs are incredibly perceptive, so if they're truly afraid of something, it's a good idea to investigate why. If you already know the "why," and it's something like a leaf, Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior says there are ways to help them overcome their fears.

Start by creating new and positive associations with the object using one of Pryor's methods: the "Hi" game.

  • Set up the scary object (but not too scary) at a safe distance from your pup.
  • Use a hand target to guide them toward the object. Give them high-value treats to reward them away from the object.
  • Repeat this by helping your dog get closer to the object, using the verbal cue "hi," until they feel good and confident.
  • If they go up to the object on their own, reward them (a clicker helps).

Aurora is one brave girl who didn't deserve what those leaves did to her. May she get all the cuddles and comfort for the rest of her days.

Aldi Just Dropped a New Dog Toy That Could Be a Summer Game Changer

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 8:48am

Most dog toys solve exactly one problem, and your dog figures that out within a few minutes.

Aldi's Heart to Tail Water Pedal Dog Toy does something different. It connects to your garden hose and shoots out a stream of water when your dog steps on the pedal. Your dog controls the water, and once they figure that out, your afternoon plans are over.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Heart to Tail Water Pedal Dog Toy, $12.99 at Aldi

The concept is simple. Hook the toy to the hose, place it in the yard and let your dog have fun. Your pup will likely start investigating, but you might need to encourage them to press the paw to see how it works.

Once your dog learns the trick, they can drink from it, play with it or press the pedal for pure sensory joy. With summer coming and the temperature rising, this clever canine find will make life cooler for your pet.

How to Introduce Your Dog to the Toy

Here's the catch. Most dogs have no idea what to do with toys like this one at first. Dogs will often stare at novel objects, and they might be cautious before approaching them.

They learn through repetition and reward, and a pedal that produces water may be strange first and fun later. Early on, make sure the pedal is worth approaching. Make them curious enough to find out.

Start with the hose off and let your dog sniff the toy, walk around it and nose the pedal without anything happening. Give your dog a few minutes to figure out that the toy is not a threat.

Once your dog is calm and comfortable around it, turn the water on low. You want a trickle first, not a blast. Bring some high-value treats, and stand near the toy.

Every time your dog approaches the pedal, reward them with a treat. Do not wait for them to press it. Reward your dog for approaching the toy to create a positive association.

Related: This Handy DIY Dog Water Station Is Winning Over Pet Parents Fast

Time to Press It

Your dog may need some time to be comfortable near the toy running low water. Lure them with a treat. Hold the treat low past the pedal, and let your dog walk toward it. When their paw makes contact and the water comes out, your dog will likely startle back or freeze.

Keep your energy neutral, move the treat back toward the pedal area, and wait. Curious dogs will return. Wait a minute or two; do not push it. Then, toss a treat right at the stream.

How to Turn This Toy Into a Game

Some dogs pick up how the toy works in a single session. Some need more time. But most dogs will go from curious to enthusiastic once they discover how it works.

Dogs who love water will get there faster. To turn this toy into a game, always finish the session before your dog gets frustrated or bored. Five minutes is more than enough engagement.

The Best Part Isn't the Water

The best part about this toy is the problem-solving feature. This interactive toy doubles as a toy and a summer cooling station for your pup. (And, by extension, you.)

This toy gives dogs something they enjoy: figuring things out. In this case, the reward is water, but the real enrichment comes from learning that their actions change the world around them.

Cat and Bunny Besties Are Basically a Children’s Book Come to Life

Sat, 06/06/2026 - 8:20am

There are cute animal friendships.

And then there are animal friendships so wholesome they make you feel like you accidentally wandered into the pages of a children's book.

That's exactly what happened when Luna, the Tabby cat, and Henry, the bunny, showed up on TikTok looking like they belong in a story called "The Rabbit, the Cat, and the Very Important Adventure."

TikTok user @luna_and_henry shared the adorable clip of the pair enjoying some time outside together on a sidewalk.

While Henry calmly sits nearby, Luna dramatically rolls around on the pavement, rubbing against her bunny best friend with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for reunited soulmates in movies.

Honestly, Luna appears completely committed to making sure Henry understands exactly how much she loves him.

The Affection Is So Over the Top That Viewers Immediately Fell in Love With the Duo:

• "I love how Henry has absolutely no problem with violent affection."
• "Precious babies."
• "Luna and Henry would make anyone smile, they are absolutely adorable."
• "Luna and Henry, you both made me smile with your cuteness."

And they're right.

The funniest part may be Henry's reaction to the whole thing.

While Luna is rolling, rubbing, and generally acting like she's starring in a romantic comedy, Henry remains completely unfazed.

It's very much:

• Cat: "YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND IN THE ENTIRE WORLD."
• Bunny: "Yes, I am aware."

The contrast somehow makes the friendship even sweeter.

Luna clearly adores Henry, and Henry seems perfectly content to accept all the attention as his rightful due.

My cat, Meatball, would absolutely love a bunny friend right up until the bunny received more attention than he did, at which point, he would file a formal complaint immediately.

• Seeking comfort from one another

Successful cat and rabbit friendships depend on supervision, proper introductions, and making sure both animals feel safe and comfortable.
