Appropriately named Clifford the Big Red Lab — or Cliff for short — this video gives us a glimpse of just how unique his look really is. It's not just the color of his coat (though it is striking), but it's the way it looks like he has a mane around his head like a lion would that really makes him stand out.

That expression on his face does make him look a little confused about why his mom is so deeply focused on him. If only he could understand how beautiful he is!

Now that you've seen Cliff for yourself, you probably won't be too surprised that everyone in the comments is positively gushing over him, with heart eyes emojis everywhere.

They might have an ocean dog on their hands... or maybe we should call him a sea lion? It seems like he really is falling in love with the feeling of the waves lapping at his paws. It's a relaxing way to spend a summer day for sure.

How Are Fox Red Labs Different From Yellow Labs?

There are a lot of different Labradors out there with different coat colors running the whole spectrum, from chocolate to yellow and everything in between. But since Yellow Labs and Fox Red Labs look so different, are they actually different dogs?

Nope! According to a blog called The Happiest Labrador, the only difference between Yellow Labs and Fox Red Labs is their color. Otherwise, they're the same dog belonging to the same breed, so you can expect that their behaviors and temperaments will be quite similar.

In fact, Fox Red Labs are born when dark Yellow Labs are bred together, and once genetics does its thing, they create one unique (and adorable) puppy.

Though these Red Labs are less common than their yellow counterparts, the blog also noted that they're becoming more popular, so we may end up seeing more of them very soon. It makes sense — who wouldn't want to adopt one of these gorgeous dogs?

Some dogs and cats stay in the shelter longer than others for various reasons including age, health status, breed, or energy level. These sweet fur babies long for a home and lose hope when they are continually passed over for adoption.

Tiana is a 10-year-old cat who's been at NAWS Humane Society for almost three years and is still waiting for a potential pet parent to notice her.

The TikTok from @franflight told Tiana's story and how her timid nature may give adopters the wrong impression.

"She has been in our animal rescue program for 1,076 days," the onscreen text revealed as a NAWS staff member cuddled with the pretty kitty. "Tiana is categorized as being shy. 'Not outgoing enough'. But she just needs a safe environment to show her true self. Someone who understands that building her confidence will take time."

Tiana has a tough time with changes and requires "stability and consistency".

"She needs someone who will allow her to open up on her terms," the story continued as Tiana began to warm up to the staff member. "Because once she lets you in, you'll see her love is worth the wait."

The social media account shared that since the original TikTok was posted, Tiana was adopted and now has a home of her own. The video featured the NAWS shelter staff member crossing out the number of days Tiana was "without a forever family" and putting a big "0" to mark her new beginning.

How To Introduce New Kittens to Resident Cats

Not all resident cats love the idea of new kitties hanging around, but if you take the proper precautions and plan a solid strategy, they'll be fast friends in no time. It should be a slow, gradual intro over the span of one to two weeks, so each has time to get used to the other's scents.

Here are a few tips to introduce a cat to a new kitty:

• Keep the kitten in their own room (ideally), with food, water, and a litter box.
• After they're adjusted, swap scents by offering each a blanket or item from the other.
• Swap rooms, letting the kitten into the main area and the cat into the kitten's room.
• After this, change the space from a closed door to a gate so the two can see each other.
• Place food and treats near the other side of the barrier so they associate good things with their new friend.
• Supervise interactions, keep them short initially, and reward them with treats.

Experts say hissing and growling are normal at first, but if one gets aggressive, start the process over. Patience is key, but so is a lot of love and reassurance for your resident baby. One day, they'll fall in love with the newbie—in their own time, in their own way.

Parrot parents know these little feathered weirdos are capable of saying and doing some pretty strange things. But apparently that extends to nap time, too.

One sleepy little bird named Floki recently had TikTok users completely enchanted after his dreams appeared to involve some sort of tiny dinosaur side quest.

The adorable TikTok clip, shared by @flokieclectus, shows Floki peacefully snoozing while making the strangest little sounds imaginable. According to the caption, the sleepy bird softly sings "laaaa," adds some "braaaa" sounds, throws in a random "mjau," and generally appears to be conducting important business in his dreams.

Personally, I choose to believe Floki is dreaming about his former life as a velociraptor. Nobody can convince me otherwise.

The noises somehow manage to be equal parts tiny dinosaur, sleepy baby, and malfunctioning squeaky toy. And the fact that Floki keeps right on snoozing through the whole thing only makes it funnier.

Bird people immediately recognized the behavior.

One commenter shared, "I had an Indian Ringneck that talked in her sleep. I'd often hear her saying, 'What ya doing ya cheeky girl.'"

Another viewer joked, "He's dreaming of his past life as a velociraptor."

"The fact that he's repeating things you've said to him means he must be dreaming about you," another person wrote, which honestly feels weirdly sweet.

One Amazon Parrot parent admitted, "I love it so much when my Amazon does this, too. Makes it easy to forget he's sometimes possessed by the devil."

And one particularly thoughtful commenter wondered whether dinosaurs themselves may have been mimics, writing, "Since a ton of different birds are really good mimics, I wonder if there's a possibility many dinos were, too, and we'd just never know."

Now I'm imagining a T. rex screaming, "Who's a pretty boy?" and frankly, I don't need that image leaving my brain anytime soon.

Just like dogs, cats, and humans, birds experience different stages of sleep and can make sounds while resting. Experts believe Parrots may rehearse sounds they've learned during the day, which explains why some parents hear familiar phrases coming from a sleeping bird.

Because Parrots are highly intelligent mimics, it's not unusual for them to quietly chatter, whistle, or make strange noises while dreaming. Some bird parents even report hearing favorite words or sounds repeated during nap time.

Which means there is a very real possibility that Floki was dreaming about his family.

Or dinosaurs.

I don't have a farm. I live in a nice little house in the suburbs with absolutely no room or need for a massive livestock guardian dog, and I'm sad about it every day. If I could have a Great Pyrenees, I would!

Rooster's Dad was not expecting a puppy on this day. His wife went to the flea market alone to find them a new chicken, apparently and she definitely came home with a rooster... A Great Pyrenees puppy named Rooster, that is. Brad just went out to the garden and found him taking a little nap.

Obviously, the puppy is here to stay, but that didn't stop Rooster from having a fair share of "lawyers" come to his aid. Everyone wanted to make sure this sweet guy had a home forever, so they all collectively lied and said he definitely looked like a chicken. It was so sweet!

All puppies, even livestock guardian dogs, go through the teething phase. At least Rooster isn't living inside and chewing up the whole house. When my middle dog was a puppy, he literally chewed a hole in the drywall.

Livestock Guardian Dogs live outside, full-time, with the animals they protect. It helps with bonding and makes sure that they're always around: bringing them inside at night would defeat the purpose.

This typically starts when they're young, and often when they're first born. Most breeders who specialize in livestock guardians have farms themselves, which is where the puppies have their first:

• Exposure to living outside.
• Interactions with farm animals.
• General assessments of instincts and skills.

A lot of livestock guardian dogs have spent less than a total week inside, in their entire lives. That's the way they like it! Though if the way his life started out is any indication, I definitely think Rooster will get some sleepovers in.

We all know how our animals can form unique bonds with us and other humans in their lives. But there's something really special when they form friendships with other animals. Sometimes even ones completely outside of their own species!

Oreo and Rolo are two sweet guinea pigs whose human takes to TikTok to share their lives and world. As stated in the caption, Oreo and Rolo's human is responsible and never lets them play with their cockatiel sibling unsupervised. And as one commenter hilariously pointed out, that's probably for the best!

While the interaction between Oreo, Rolo, and their bird buddy is very sweet, pets like guinea pigs and birds often really won't be friends with each other. They may be able to tolerate each other or even show some curiosity, but the differences in their communication, needs, and energy make it risky to let them interact.

Both guinea pigs and small birds are prey animals, and if they feel threatened they'll panic. It's not ideal to introduce your animals to that kind of stress. Additionally, both animals can transmit different types of bacteria to each other which can be dangerous to their health. Coexistence with safe spaces is ideal, and probably best for all involved.

While it's not likely that there are other trios out there like Oreo, Rolo, and their bird sibling, it's fun that we can even have a snippet of their lives together. Maybe their next video will be that inevitable band!

How To Support Nursing Cats

Motherhood is a full-time job — and that goes for cats just as much as humans. Supporting a mama cat through this stage means thinking about her needs on two fronts: what she's eating and how she's feeling.

We're always amazed at how fast babies grow into toddlers, toddlers into teens, and teens into adults. It seems like we blink and those adorable infants become grownups. Puppies develop even faster and can be almost unrecognizable in a matter of weeks.

Ginger and Perla are two chocolate Labrador puppies born 4 weeks apart and the size difference is downright impressive.

In the TikTok from @labpuparadise, a young woman held Ginger and Perla up to the camera to show the vast size differential between the two pups.

"This is Ginger and she is 1 day old," she said as she described the newborn pup, who still had her eyes closed and her little tongue sticking out. The tiny fur baby was so small, her whole body fit into the woman's hand.

"She is completely dependent on her mom and my help," the woman continued. "Eyes and ears are sealed closed, and she's just a very sleepy little baby."

Next, she featured Perla, who was substantially larger and more alert than Ginger. It was hard to imagine that Perla was ever as small as the one-day-old pup.

"She is 4 weeks older — just the growth that happens," the woman shared, then held the two pups up back to back as Perla wagged her tail. "The growth that happens in that four weeks is remarkable."

Perla is now eating "soggy kibble" and enjoys a lot of activity. "She's running around, barking, playing, just full of life," the narrator said.

Followers fell in love with the fur babies and noted the size change in such a short amount of time.

"You blink and they go from 1 day to 4 weeks," one remarked.

"Four week difference is absolutely crazy! Both beautiful dogs," another raved.

When Do Labradors Stop Growing?

Labradors Retrievers are a medium to large breed. Most Labs reach adulthood and their full size by their first birthday, though some can keep growing to fill out their chest until approximated 18 months old.

A full-grown male Labrador typically weighs between 65 and 80 pounds and stands about 22.5 to 24.5 inches tall. Female Labs tend to be approximately 55 to 70 pounds at adulthood, and reach 21.5 to 23.5 inches in height.

Ginger and Perla obviously have a lot more growing to do, though most probably want them to stay in the adorable puppy stage forever.

If you’re a bird watcher, you know how exciting it can be to see different species throughout the year. Just yesterday, I watched a huge Sandhill Crane saunter through my Florida backyard with equal parts grace and curiosity. After all, a cat’s stomach is one of its most vulnerable areas, protecting vital organs that would normally be guarded in situations of stress or uncertainty. Because of this, exposing it is not something cats do lightly and something they only do when they trust someone.

“Showing their belly isn't necessarily an invitation for a belly rub,” explains Dr. Nick Horniman, veterinary surgeon and founder of myPetsVet. “It’s more often than not demonstrating that they feel safe enough around you to completely relax.”

Their Tail is Raised

If your cat walks toward you with its tail held upright, it might look like an ordinary movement, but it’s actually one of the clearest signs your cat trusts you and feels connected to you. While it may seem simple or even a little strange at first, this cute behavior often reflects deep comfort and emotional security.

“When a cat trusts you, their tail will be relaxed and often held up, which reveals they are actively interested in an interaction,” says Dr. Stephanie Borns-Well, assistant clinical professor at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.

A cat that truly feels at ease with you will avoid defensive body language such as crouching low, flattening its posture, or tightly tucking itself in. Instead, it will often relax in your presence, stretching out or lounging nearby as if it has no need to stay guarded.

They Blink Slowly

Sometimes the smallest moments are the most heart-melting. Another subtle sign your cat feels safe and comfortable with you has to do with their eyes. If your cat looks at you and slowly opens and closes its eyes, it’s engaging in a quiet but meaningful form of communication. Often called a “slow blink,” this behavior is widely recognized as a feline expression of calm, comfort and emotional connection.

“Cats are naturally vigilant animals,” Horniman states. “Closing their eyes, even briefly, makes them temporarily vulnerable. To do so slowly around a person shows they feel safe in their presence.”

They Sleep Near You

It might seem a little weird, but where your cat chooses to sleep can actually be one of the clearest signs they feel safe and comfortable around you—and in many cases, it’s a subtle sign of trust.

Sleep is one of the most vulnerable states for any animal, and where a cat chooses to rest says a lot about how safe they feel.

“In the wild, f they were to pick the wrong location for a nap, they may end up as a snack for another animal,” says Joey Lusvardi, certified cat behavior consultant at Class Act Cats. “That's why sometimes you’ll see cats sleeping in groups with trusted associates so they’ll all be protected should danger arise.”

When a cat chooses to sleep near you, it’s often a sign that they don’t feel the need to stay on guard and they see you as part of their family.

They Eat Without Watching You

One slightly strange signs your cat feels safe around you can be seen during mealtimes. While most cats are naturally alert when eating, always aware of their surroundings, some will relax enough to eat without constantly checking what’s going on around them. So, if you furbaby does this, it's a good thing!

“If a cat is happy to eat with its back turned or without regularly checking where you are, it usually indicates they don't see you as a threat,” Horniman explains.

In more guarded situations, cats will often pause mid-meal to scan the room, reposition themselves, or make sure they can keep an eye on their environment. A cat that doesn’t feel the need to do this is showing a quiet but meaningful level of comfort in your presence.

They Use the Litter Box in Front of You

Some of the strongest signs your cat trusts you show up in the moments you would least expect. One of them is when they use the litter box while you’re still in the room. After all, elimination is one of the most vulnerable moments in a cat’s daily routine, which makes their behavior during this time especially informative.

“In nature, a predator could ambush them or the scent of their waste could attract a predator after they finish,” Lusvardi says. “Your cat using the litter box with you nearby indicates they feel safe enough around you to not see you as a threat.”

Even though the act itself is private and exposed, a trusting cat will not feel the need to hide or wait for you to leave the room.

They Run Toward You When Startled

If you think your cat is completely fearless, it might actually seem a little odd when they suddenly run toward you or settle close by after something scary happens, like a loud noise or an unexpected movement. But this is often an indication that your cat sees you as someone who is trustworthy.

“Cats usually move toward places or individuals they associate with security,” says veterinarian Dr. Sarah Wooten. “This type of behavior can be a meaningful sign that the cat sees that person as part of their safe zone.”

So even though it may seem surprising at first, your cat seeking you out after a frightening moment is actually a compliment in their own quiet way. It shows you’ve become part of their coping system and someone they rely on to feel grounded when the world suddenly feels uncertain.

Puppies are so small, but their audacity is through the roof. Puppies love to mess around and pick fights with anyone and everyone, including their littermates. Mandy's Aussie Friends are very well cared for; this was just a little sibling tiff. Since this video, both puppies have moved on to separate homes, so no need to worry about littermate syndrome or anything like that. Puppies fighting, even when they're just born, is normal.

These precious s'mores puppies were probably fighting over their placement. I feel like the obvious s'more stacking order is graham cracker, chocolate, and then the marshmallow, but for the Australian Shepherd puppies, it looks like chocolate might've come out on top.

Australian Shepherd puppies are very high-energy, too, which didn't help. They become highly energetic dogs, and although they might not spend as much time gearing up to fight as they get older, they do hone their herding instincts a little. They just pass out wherever they see fit. That's how it works for all puppies: one minute, they're over-tired and biting your toes off. The next, they're belly-up, passed out, and not waking up for at least an hour.

Is Puppies Fighting Normal?

If you have siblings, did you ever fight with them? Almost certainly. Being in close proximity to someone, especially if they're tiring, is going to push you to want to fight ever single time. Puppies are the same way.

Most often, they're little spats only lasting a minute or two: they pretend to bite each other's faces, they might exchange slaps, and then they move on. What Is the Temperament of a Devon Rex Cat?

This sweet Devon Rex cat is the cutest little one, and it's so fun to see how much fun and comfort he has dressing up with his favorite human. It makes sense, too, since Devon Rex cats are known for their sweet and gentle temperament, according to experts. 

The Spruce Pets explains that Devon Rex cats are considered to have high affection levels and friendliness toward people and kids, as well as high energy and intelligence. These kitties are described as "pixie-like" in their personalities and temperaments, and their charm is what they are known for, along with their unique look. They love their people, which we see with this Devon Rex, and are highly trainable since they're so smart. That's why this kitty is so happy to be dressed up and to pose for photos, which isn't something all cats are happy to do. 

We're thankful, though, and glad these two have so much fun together.

For the entire road trip, Quin, a black cat, had been perfectly fine in the car for hours. However, when Quin's owner pulled over for a break for what was supposed to be a quick rest stop, things quickly went south.

Unfortunately, Quin escaped, spending the next 30 to 45 minutes sprinting through nearby woods in the summer heat, wearing, as his owner later put it, "a fur coat." When she finally caught him, she noticed something that gave her pause.

Quin was panting—mouth open, short rapid breaths, looking every bit as dog-like as a black cat can manage.

"I've never seen a cat pant before," she wrote in her post to r/blackcats, alongside a photo that quickly attracted thousands of comments.

Scaring His Parents

As it turned out, Quin was fine. As his parent explained, he was panting for 30 seconds to cool down, and has been normal ever since. They even called a vet to ensure he was fine.

But the video raised questions about cat behavior, since few pet parents have seen their cats panting with their mouths open.

Can Cats Pant?

Yes, but they do not do it like dogs. Dogs regulate their body temperature through panting, their primary cooling system.

Cats, however, do it to take in more oxygen due to increased demand. Quin, for example, had been running through hot woods.

Usually, cats settle within five to 15 minutes. However, if cats pant for longer periods, you might need to take them to the vet.

As one commenter said, "Cats do this either if they're extremely stressed OR just like dogs do when they're hot and tired from exercising."

Another described a similar experience, saying, "My cat loves to chase feathers and lasers until she is panting. Unfortunately the vet said exercise to the point of panting is bad for their heart, even if they seem to like it. But as long as it's not every day I'm sure it's probably fine."

Another added, "First time I saw a cat do this was when my friend had my cat running in circles for like 20 minutes straight."

When to Sound the Alarm

There is a thin line between "he just ran too hard" and "something is wrong." Unless there is a logical explanation for panting (i.e., a rest-stop escape), it can be a cause of concern. You shouldn't panic immediately, but take it seriously.

Several medical conditions can cause panting, including heart disease, feline asthma, pneumonia, anemia and severe pain. Many cats hide the symptoms. However, if you notice any of the obvious signs, including pale, white, blue, gray or yellow gums, or coughing alongside the panting, you should take your feline friend to the vet immediately.

I always assumed there were certain jobs reserved exclusively for Border Collies.

The hilarious clip was shared on the TikTok account @travisstockstill2, and it captures a white cat enthusiastically rounding up goats while a Border Collie named Snoop watches the whole thing unfold. As the cat races around doing the job, the farmer can be heard saying, "The old herd cat's getting them in. Get them in there, girl. She's herding the goats in there. She's better than Snoop."

Meanwhile, poor Snoop looks back at his dog dad with an expression that can only be described as an existential crisis.

I laughed so hard at the dog's face because it looked like he was mentally updating his LinkedIn page. This is also how I fear AI will replace me as a writer. One day, I'll look up, and some random house cat will be filing articles faster than I am.

TikTok commenters were just as amused as I was.

"Hot take: Cats would be better than dogs at most jobs, but they are ungovernable," one person joked.

"The best part is the dog does this because he was trained. The cat is literally just doing this because he is bored," another viewer wrote.

Several people referenced the movie Babe, with one person commenting, "That'll do, herd cat, that'll do."

Others focused on poor Snoop's expression.

Sarah the Great Dane seems to believe she's kitten sized, and based on this video, I believe her. She catches up to the kitten almost immediately, but the best part is how she pauses. She knows the kitten wants to go first, and she's going to let her have her moment!

This isn't the first kitten Sarah has had to deal with: there are a few other cats in the house. Evidently, the tiny kitten probably gets on her nerves less. The others have had time to learn how to push her buttons! Meanwhile, this sweet kitten just wants to play.

Make no mistake, though, this kitten is definitely learning how to push her buttons. She has another game she likes to play: she bites Sarah's nose, and then she gives her a kiss. Luckily, her whole face isn't even as big as her sister's nose:

Are Great Danes Good With Cats?

Sarah is clearly part cat herself, which is awesome. However, she grew up around cats, and all of the cats she knows grew up with her.

Great Danes are known for being good companions for kids, other dogs, cats, and even small pets like bunnies. These sweet dogs value companionship and aren't typically confrontational, though they'll defend their loved ones. However, there can be issues:

• If the cat attacks the Great Dane, they might defend themselves.
• Great Danes love to play, though they don't always know their own size.
• Accidents can happen, and in those cases, the smaller animal will get hurt.

Though you can certainly raise cats and Great Danes together without issue, you should try not to leave them unsupervised. It just helps keep everyone safe, especially when they're playing follow the leader!

Dottie, the Brussels Griffon, is a New Zealand rescue dog with dwarfism. The 6-year-old, barely 4-pound pup has enchanted her more than 148k TikTok followers with her adorable spunk and Labubu-like appearance for a while now, but the wind-up trick is new (and cool)!

As a sassy "Pet-lebrity and Pawfluencer," Dottie documents her health journey, which includes things like physical therapy, wearing cute dresses, and showcasing her tiny but epic "racehorse" zoomies. Despite any challenges, she's a happy girl who loves to be adored and doted on, especially when she performs, as she did in the above clip.

Like other Brussels Griffons, Dottie's unique Civil War-esque vibes are memorable because of her gigantic eyes. Don't let the video fool you—Dottie isn't all good looks and sass. She's actually a total sweetheart with her dog sibling and her new best friend, a tiny tortoise hatchling named Nova.

Dottie is the epitome of joy, whether she's snuggling with her siblings, modeling her glittery sundresses, or blessing the world with her tricks. She should be the inspiration for a new limited-edition Labubu!

Brussels Griffons Are a Rare Find

Though Dottie could be confused as a 24-karat gold Labubu, she is in fact a true-blue Brussels Griffon. These cute canines typically only grow to be 12 pounds or less. In Dottie's pint-sized case, her dwarfism makes her even smaller than others of her breed.

To top things off, Dottie's oversized eyes contrasted with a little beard and mustache muzzle look like a reincarnated old man! Despite her size, Dottie is all personality in everything she does. You likely won't find a girl like her in a U.S. shelter.

As the AKC notes, they're not common, only ranking around the 99th most popular breed. During World War I and World War II, the breed nearly went extinct. Breeders have been working to bring the numbers up ever since, and usually have a waitlist—making the pups pricier than most ($1,500 to $4,000 and up)!

If you want a small but mighty Brussels Griffon like Dottie, you can:

• Contact a national Brussels Griffon rescue.

• Tour your nearest shelter. It's not likely they'll have a version of Dottie, but they might be able to point you in the right direction.
• Get in touch with a rehoming organization that is specifically focused on ethical breeding.
• Check the Parent Club, which lists approved regional breeders and referring contacts.

It may take a little legwork to find a Dottie of your own, but one more look at that darling Labubu face and it'll all be worth it!
