Siberian Cat ‘Supports’ His Sister in Time-Out—After He Got Her Put There
Cats are a little bit evil a lot of the time. They just have their moments where nothing is going to get through to them, even if they've been trained not to do the thing they're about to do. In addition to that, cats are born to be siblings, and that often means they love getting in trouble.
For one Siberian cat, that meant goofing around so hard that it was actually a crime. It was a crime his sister got put in time-out for, but he made sure to offer her some support for taking the fall for him:
@roryandmisharory loves his sister 💜💜💜 too bad she’s an absolute menace #catsoftiktok #cattok #cutecat #catsiblings #catlove
♬ I Knew It, I Knew You - From "Toy Story 5" - Taylor SwiftRory and Misha literally never let their mom catch a break. They're always doing something, and she is always tired, but she wouldn't have it any other way. She loves them just the way they are, even if they're the reason she's basically pulling her hair out.
In this video, Misha is in one room with the foor shut, while Rory and their mom are in the other room. Misha definitely got put in time-out because she was fighting with her brother, but the moment Mom actually put her away, Rory realized that tattling on her means they can't hang out!

The two of them seem to literally only get along when they're in trouble, and I love that for them. When their mom just wanted to have a game night recently, the two of them absolutely could not be bothered to play nice:

Does 'Time-Out' Work For Cats?Misha got put in time-out because she couldn't play nice with her brother. She was still able to slip her paws under the door, and Rory made sure to hold her paw the whole time. I would be willing to bet that this is exactly what happens every time one of them puts put in time-out!

Time-outs can be a good tool for living with cats, but they need to be used correctly. While you should never put a cat in time out aggressively, or for an extended period of time, a time-out can help:
- Disrupt their bad behavior.
- Reset their mind.
- Calm them down, especially if they're acting up because of overstimulation.
Try putting them in time-out in a quiet place, like a bedroom or a bathroom, for no more than about 10 minutes at a time. When they come out, they'll feel better!

A Family Found Three Rare Baby Animals Clinging to Their Patio Wall, Then Came the Update Photo
Most people glance at the side of their house without thinking twice. One family looked up and found three tiny, wide-eyed visitors clinging to their patio wall instead.
They shared the video of the discovery on Reddit, and many people were amazed by the sight of three rare baby bats resting shoulder to shoulder as if they were posing for a family portrait.

Even better, the original poster later shared an update with a much clearer close-up. "They take good pictures," they joked.
These 3 babies appears in our patio.by u/EB2Good in aww An Unusual Sight With a Timely Explanation
Finding baby bats on the side of a home isn't something most people expect. Yet several wildlife enthusiasts in the comments pointed out that the timing made perfect sense.
Around the Fourth of July, wildlife rehabilitation groups often see an increase in disoriented birds and bats. Loud fireworks can disrupt their normal navigation and temporarily separate young animals from their usual roosts.
One commenter explained that bats often end up resting in unusual places during the day after fireworks displays because they're exhausted and trying to recover.
Another recalled a more tragic experience, walking through a city center after a fireworks celebration and seeing dead birds scattered throughout the streets, saying it completely changed how they viewed large fireworks displays.
These three pups were lucky. They found a wall, stayed together, and rested.

Why These Visitors Are Actually Great NewsSeveral commenters were quick to point out something worth knowing about having bats nearby. Bats are great for preventing mosquitoes. One commenter said, "make them a cute bat house, to live in, they eat lots of mosquitos."
Another added, "As someone who is horribly sensitive to mosquito bites, I strongly support all the critters who like to feast on them."
If mosquitoes are an issue where you live, building a bat house might not be a bad idea. After all, the science backs it up.
What to Do If You Find Bats on Your PropertyIf bats are resting on your wall and appear uninjured, leave them alone. They will move on once they have recovered, typically within a day.
Do not handle them with your bare hands. Bats can carry rabies, and while transmission to humans requires direct contact, usually a bite, the risk is real enough to be cautious.
If you notice a bat on the ground that cannot fly, contact your local wildlife rehabilitation center or the state's fish and wildlife agency for guidance.
This family did everything right. They watched the bats from a distance, photographed them, and then allowed them to rest, recover, and eventually leave the property.
Tiny Maine Coon Kitten Tastes Formula and Is 'Sent Into Another Dimension'
In those first weeks of their lives, kittens get all their nutrients from nursing or, in certain cases, kitten formula they are bottle fed. And just like we see in human newborns, sometimes, this can result in being a little "milk drunk." It's like their formula is the best thing they've ever tasted (even though it's technically the only thing they've ever tasted).
But then, there's this tiny Maine Coon kitten, who made such a face while she was eating that she looked like she was sent into another dimension.
@greekgardenmainecoonsShe saw things in that bowl 😂 #kitten #milk #messy
♬ original sound - GreekGardenMaineCoonsThis sweet kitten (who is absolutely stunning with those different colored eyes and that orange color mixed in with her face) was drinking her milk out of a bowl one minute, and the next, she was staring straight ahead like she had really seen some things in that bowl.
The other kittens around her kept eating, but it's like she couldn't get over what she just saw long enough to go back to her milk. Maybe she can see the future?!
In any event, everyone in the comments is obsessed with her sweet little face. "Stared too long into the milk. They licked the bowl, and the bowl licked back," one commenter wrote.

Formula Is a Lifeline for Young KittensUnder ideal circumstances, kittens would nurse from their mama cat until it was time for them to be weaned and eat kitten food, but of course, that's not always possible, and that's where formula comes in.
Kittens can be bottle fed if they are separated from (or abandoned by) their mothers, though it's quite a commitment for anyone who is caring for them. According to Best Friends Animal Society, kitten formula is necessary, since these babies can't properly digest cow's milk — not to mention the fact that it doesn't contain all the nutrients they need to thrive.
The best formula to feed kittens will be called Kitten Milk Replacement, or KMR, and in the first few weeks of their lives, they're going to be eating quite frequently; typically about every few hours, just like human babies.
Around the time they turn four weeks old, they're ready to start the weaning process, but it may take some kittens up to eight weeks to be fully on kitten food.

Shelter Volunteer Was Seconds From a Dog Attack When the Goofy Rescue on His Leash Did the Unthinkable
One quiet walk. Ten terrifying seconds. That is how close a shelter volunteer was to losing his life to an aggressive dog.
A shelter volunteer shared his story on Reddit's r/AnimalShelterStories. He explained how he owes his life to the goofy rescue dog who refused to leave his side when danger came charging toward them.

Forrest is the hero in the story, an affectionate shelter dog known for giving hugs, chasing squirrels, and acting like the happiest dog in the building.
A Walk to RememberOne afternoon, the volunteer took Forrest on a routine walk to a small meadow a couple of blocks from the shelter. It was one of Forrest's favorite spots, with plenty of tall grass, old burrows to sniff and a bare patch of dirt to roll around in.
But when they rounded the corner, they saw another volunteer sitting in a sunny spot along the path. Another dog, Dan, was beside her, while she was on her phone; however, Dan's leash was not in her hands.
"I can still see it clear as day. Dan immediately got up as soon as he saw me and Forrest. His eyes were all beady and he makes a loud rumbling sound, and then his mouth opened and he started running toward me," the Redditor explained.
In those moments, he thought that was it and froze.
Forrest Had a Different Read on the SituationForrest's initial reaction was something he often does when he sees another dog: bouncing and making happy squeaking sounds. Dan was his friend. But then, he figured out what was happening.
In a moment, the dog who had never growled at another dog stepped in front of his volunteer and snarled. Both dogs lunged, and the other volunteer, now off her phone, grabbed Dan's leash and yanked him.
Everything happened within ten seconds, and Forrest managed to help his human.

Walking Shelter Dogs Takes More than Good IntentionsStories like this one show something that many people do not realize until it is too late. Walking rescue dogs is not the same as taking your own dog.
Many rescue pups carry emotional baggage that you might not see at first glance. Some have experienced neglect or abuse. Sometimes, even the friendliest dogs can react unpredictably when frightened or overly stimulated. That is why shelters take time to prepare volunteers before handing over the leash.
Five Lessons Shelter Volunteers Should KnowProper training can reduce the chance of dangerous situations. In this case, the problem was a breakdown in communication between the shelter and its volunteers.
Volunteers should read the dog's behavior profile before approaching the dog. Every dog should have a documented behavior assessment. This gives you an idea of fear triggers, leash reactivity, resource guarding, and everything in between.
Be sure to learn the shelter's color or flag system. Many rescues use a system to signal how much handling experience a dog needs. Green usually means any volunteer can walk the dog. Yellow means proceed with caution, and red means experienced handlers only.
A good idea is to co-walk every new dog before going solo. That means walking a dog alongside a trained staff member or experienced volunteer. It gives you an idea of how the dog moves, behaves and reacts to other dogs.
When in public, keep two hands on the leash. The standard grip is one hand near the collar, and the other holding the loop. For dogs over 40 pounds or with a history of reactivity, a shorter leash gives you more control.
Lastly, learn what to do if an off-leash dog charges toward you. For most people, the initial instinct is to run, which can trigger prey drive and make things worse. The better response is to stop moving, turn sideways to reduce your profile, and avoid direct eye contact.

Shelter's 'Most Nervous Dog' Won't Leave Her Bed — And It's Heartbreaking
Many dogs understandably have a difficult time coping with the chaotic environment of a shelter, especially if they've spent most of their lives in a home. Canines sometimes end up in a shelter through no fault of their own, and the traumatic transition causes them to feel fearful, confused, and abandoned.
Grey is a sweet 6-year-old dog who clings to her bed at the Humane Society of Broward County since losing the only home she's ever known.
@humanebrowardIt’s so hard to watch 🥺💔 Six-year-old Grey spent her entire life with one family. Unfortunately, when life changed, they no longer had time for her, and now she finds herself living in a busy shelter waiting for a new family to notice her 😔 Grey can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she realizes you’re a friend, she’ll show you her sweet personality. She enjoys walks, likes to run, loves rope toys, and has a funny habit of digging little holes in the dirt. She’s more independent than cuddly, but she enjoys attention from people she trusts and likes being close by ❤️ Our volunteers describe Grey as friendly, gentle, and easy to spend time with. One volunteer shared that after sitting with her for just a few minutes, Grey began wagging her tail and eagerly waited for her walk. Another said she seemed confused about why she was here at all. After spending her whole life in a home, we think she is wondering the same thing ❤️ Grey is good with children and other dogs. We are unsure how she is with cats. Grey has a luxating patella condition that causes her kneecaps to slip out of place, and she has some early arthritis in her back legs. She gets around well, enjoys her walks, and our adoption team can answer any questions you may have about her care ❤️🩹 Our staff and volunteers adore this girl. Grey needs a family that will choose her, be patient with her, and never give up on her again. ❤️ Please share for Grey 🙏 Her adoption fee has been generously covered by Subaru of Pembroke Pines and she’ll even go home with some goodies. 🚗🐾 @subaruofpembrokepines ⭐️ Our shelter will be closed on Saturday, July 4th, but we will reopen the next day (7/5) at 11am ⭐️ To meet Grey, complete a pre-adoption application on our website (link in bio) or visit us at the Humane Society of Broward County. We are open daily at 11 a.m. and located at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale.
♬ original sound - Humane Society Broward CountyThe TikTok from @humanebroward told Grey's heartbreaking story and how she's handling her time in the shelter.
"She's our shelter's most nervous dog," the onscreen text shared as Grey nervously glanced at the camera from the bed in her kennel. "She's afraid to leave her bed so visitors don't notice her when they walk by."
The frightened fur baby was struggling with stress and trying to cope with the harsh change in her circumstances.
"Grey spent her entire life with one family," the caption explained. "Unfortunately, when life changed, they no longer had time for her, and now she finds herself living in a busy shelter waiting for a new family to notice her."
Gray Needs a Family That's Truly ForeverThe canine cutie is a little timid, but shows her loving heart when she starts to feel safe.
"Grey can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she realizes you’re a friend, she’ll show you her sweet personality," the story continued. "She enjoys walks, likes to run, loves rope toys, and has a funny habit of digging little holes in the dirt."
The precious pooch is good with children and other dogs. Grey hasn't been around other cats yet. The shelter staff is already smitten with this sweet girl and stunned that any family would relinquish her.
"Our volunteers describe Grey as friendly, gentle, and easy to spend time with," the caption noted. "One volunteer shared that after sitting with her for just a few minutes, Grey began wagging her tail and eagerly waited for her walk. Another said she seemed confused about why she was here at all."
Gray has a luxating patella condition that sometimes causes her kneecaps to slip out of place, along with some early arthritis in her back legs. Yet this doesn't stop her from enjoying walks and playtime.
"Our staff and volunteers adore this girl.," the caption concluded. "Grey needs a family that will choose her, be patient with her, and never give up on her again."

Maine Coon Kittens’ First Time Trying Chicken Is a Total Success
Kittens, even larger breeds like the Maine Coon, spend the first several weeks of their lives exclusively breastfeeding. Their baby teeth come in over the course of several weeks: feeding them regular food in their first few weeks isn't just unnecessary. It's downright dangerous.
Eventually, though, you do need to introduce them to solid foods. The best way to do that is to make the transition gradual: blending their food, then making it chunkier incrementally until they can tolerate it whole. Recently, a couple of Maine Coon kittens tried chicken for the first time:
@greekgardenmainecoonsFirst chicken taste test in their weaning journey. Some handled it better than others. 😅 #mainecoon #chicken #weaning
♬ original sound - GreekGardenMaineCoonsGreek Garden Maine Coons knows what they're doing when it comes to kitten care. These kittens are about 7 weeks old, meaning they'll be headed off to their forever homes soon, and it's time to start weaning them. Chicken is the best way to do that, apparently!
It looks like they boiled a couple of chicken breasts in plain water and then blended it all together. They most likely waited for it to cool completely (or at least almost completely) before letting the kittens get some, just to be safe.
Related: Grey Maine Coon Gives Birth to a Rainbow of Tiny Kittens—and Each Is Cuter Than the Last
They loved it, clearly. They're going to need a bath after this, and it was a great way for their caretaker to figure out exactly who the messy eaters are. Well, to be honest, everyone was moderately messy... Except one kitten, who takes the "messiest eater" crown with zero question:
@greekgardenmainecoonsI feel like there was a pretty clear winner but I’m open to arguments 😂 #messy #kittens #gremlins
♬ original sound - GreekGardenMaineCoonsGiven the fact that kittens groom themselves by licking, I feel like this messy kitten was just saving some of the chicken for later. I love that she's thinking for the future! Whoever gets to take this girl home is getting a very smart kitty!
What to Feed KittensIn the first few weeks of their lives, kittens need to eat breast milk or, in the case of kittens who don't have a mother, formula, exclusively. They can't chew, and anything else probably wouldn't be able to meet their nutritional needs. However, that doesn't last forever.
Maria Moroz / Getty Images
When kittens are old enough to begin weaning, you have a few options for what to feed them. The base of their diet should be a kitten-specific food, since that will contain everything to meet their actual nutritional needs. Beyond that, though, you could try:
- Blended chicken.
- Plain, no-salt-added canned tuna.
- Steamed and mashed pumpkin, especially if they're constipated.
- Plain scrambled eggs.
Make sure not to feed them much of any of these: they should mostly be eating regular kitten food, mixed with kitten milk replacer at first, but gradually transitioning to just the wet food as time goes on. There's nothing more important than making sure they eat what they need!

Husband Said No More Pets--Bulldog Mom Found Loophole and It's Wrapped Like a Burrito
The rule was crystal clear. No more pets. However, the rule didn't account for the existence of baby potato burritos. This was an oversight.
The TikTok from @emac.bulldogs opens with a caption that explains everything and absolutely nothing simultaneously: "Little too much filling in this burrito for a nice wrap 😂😂"
What follows is a full cooking tutorial. The ingredient is an English Bully puppy with squishy cheeks, pink toe beans and baby snores who is currently wrapped like the world's cutest little potato and has absolutely no objections.
Here's how to make a baby potato burrito.
@emac.bulldogsLittle too much filling in this burrito for a nice wrap 😂😂 #bulldogpuppy #bulldogpuppies #babypotato #burrito #bulldog
♬ original sound - eMac BulldogsFirst, place your tortilla down on a flat surface. Next, take your baby potato and place it carefully on top of the tortilla. Be careful not to spill too much of the baby potato outside the tortilla. Once your baby potato is in place you're going to grab both sides and wrap them up.
Sometimes there's too much baby potato filling and you can't wrap them up properly. Just do your best to keep as much inside as possible.
No baby potatoes were harmed in the making of this burrito.
This particular baby potato is round, compact, peacefully napping and deeply unbothered by any of this. He's the chonkiest possible candidate for the burrito format and he's leaning into it fully.
Related: Bulldog Showed Up to the Splash Pad in a Coconut Bikini, Now 'Pups Illustrated' Is Calling
The comments arrived with their full assessment of the situation:
"Hubby says no more pets, he said nothing about baby potato burrito 😌"
The loophole was found. Filed. Documented. And, it’s legally airtight.
"You need a bigger tortilla. That potato is chonky!"
"You forgot to season it with kissies"
"That's a LOADED burrito"
"That's a Gordita 💕"
"That looks like a chalupa!!! A very stuffed chalupa!!!!!"
The Taco Bell menu debate has entered the chat and nobody can agree. Burrito. Gordita. Chalupa. The internet is divided. The puppy, blissfully unaware, is still napping.
"Wrapped to perfection 🥹"
The husband's rule had no mention of burritos. It also had no provision for the science behind why this works so well on puppies.
Why Swaddling Your Puppy Is Actually Good for ThemTurns out wrapping a puppy snugly in a blanket isn't just completely adorable. There's a reason it actually works and it goes back further than you'd think.
According to Lucky Puppy, it all comes down to deep pressure — basically a gentle snug wrap that helps the body calm down. It's the same principle behind swaddling our human babies. Dr. William Sears describes it as one of the most time-tested baby-calming techniques because the wrapped feeling reminds infants of being safely held in the arms of someone who loves them.
For dogs it works the same way. Lucky Puppy explains that wrapping gently helps the body shift into rest mode, easing breathing, loosening muscle tension and bringing heart rate down. All from a blanket wrapped in just the right way.
The key word is snug not tight. Lucky Puppy is clear that the wrap needs to feel like a supportive hug not a restriction. Checking it every few minutes matters too since a wrap that feels comfortable at first can shift and get loose.
For English Bully puppies specifically this technique fits especially well. Their naturally calm and easy disposition means they're less likely to resist and more likely to just settle in and enjoy the cuddle. Add their compact round shape, their squishy cheeks and their apparent commitment to napping through anything and they're honestly just shaped for this.
There are products available that work on the same deep pressure idea for dogs who need ongoing anxiety support. But for a sleepy little potato on a casual Tuesday a blanket works just fine.
The husband said no more pets. He said nothing about baby potato burritos. The loophole remains open and fully operational.
No baby potatoes were harmed in the making of this ‘burrito’.

Pit Bull Escapes His Pet Parent’s Car and Nonchalantly Walks Into a Sunoco Like a Regular
Running errands is a lot more fun with your four-legged family members along... even if they can't join us every time we get out of the car. If the temperature is cool and you're just going to be five minutes, it might be easier to run in and out without them.
But if your dog has major FOMO like the Pit Bull in the video below clearly does, you might want to rethink those plans. When his parent was headed into a Sunoco convenience store, this dog simply assumed that he was invited, too.
@halfmoonsunocoHe knew exactly where to go for those treats!! #dogtreats #sneaky #funnydog
♬ original sound - halfmoonsunoco - halfmoonsunocoThis security footage shared by @halfmoonsunoco shows the Pit Bull slipping out of the parked car as soon as his dad opened his door. And for the split second his back was turned, the dog quickly made his way inside.
It's too funny to see the dog jump right out of the car and stroll through the door like he goes there every day, and meanwhile, his parents were so confused!
Even more security footage that was taken from inside the store shows this Pit Bull walking around like he owns the place, sniffing around for treats.
His family was so relieved when they found him. His little adventure must have given them quite a scare!
Keeping Dogs Safe in CarsFortunately, this Pit Bull wasn't in any danger, but of course, it's usually not ideal for a dog to be able to jump out of their humans' car like this. Safety is key anytime you're traveling with your dog, whether it's a road trip or a quick stop at the gas station.
According to what experts told the New York Times, an unrestrained dog in a car is dangerous for both the dog and the humans who are in it. Not only can they provide a distraction to the driver, but they could also become a projectile in a crash — that would be horrifying. And even in a minor fender bender, the airbags deploying could seriously injure your pup.
The safest place for your dog to be in the car is a crate or a crash tested harness, and you'll want to make sure that the crate or harness is secured to the seat with an anchor strap. If you cannot anchor the crate to the seat, put it on the floor of the car.
Safety also means keeping the windows rolled up, which is such a bummer for dogs who love feeling the wind on their face while you drive.
Driving around with your dog can be safe and fun at the same time, if you're willing to take a few precautions ahead of time.

Tractor Supply's 3-in-1 Wild Bird Feeder Holds Both Suet and Seed — 'Birds Love It'

The summer months are a great time to get wild birds accustomed to visiting your yard for food and water. And now, you can provide three different types of food they love in one feeder for a low price, thanks to this Tractor Supply deal.
The Royal Wing Cedar Snack Shack Bird Feeder is only $22 at Tractor Supply Co.
I'm calling this a "3-in-1" feeder because you can fill it with bird seed and two different kinds of suet cakes at both ends. As Tractor Supply writes: "no matter what a bird may prefer to eat, there's bound to be something they love available at this bird feeder."
The feeder is made of Easter red cedar wood and it holds up to 3.7 pounds of birdseed and two standard suet cakes in the baskets on the sides.
I know from personal experience that when a feeder holds both suet cakes and birdseed, the species you attract can skyrocket! When I added that type of feeder to my own yard, I went from sparrows and doves to also getting woodpeckers, cardinals, chickadees, gold finches, starlings, and more.

This Pomeranian Cosplaying as Zoo Animals Is the Cutest Thing We Have Seen All Week
There are plenty of cute dog videos on the internet, but turning your fluffy Pomeranian into an entire zoo with nothing more than paper cutouts is the kind of creativity I can get behind. I don't know who came up with this idea, but I'd like to personally thank them for their service.
Mocha already looks like a tiny stuffed animal, so it turns out all you have to do is cut a little hole for that adorable face and suddenly you've got the world's most convincing lion, giraffe, fox, and about six other creatures. I was fully expecting one favorite. Instead, I spent the entire video changing my mind every five seconds.

First he's a red panda.
Then a sloth.
A bear.
A lion.
A giraffe.
A tiger.
And finally, a fox.
The funniest part is that every single one somehow works.
Mocha has one of those sweet little faces that can convincingly belong to just about any species.
I started watching thinking, "There's no way he'll pull off the giraffe."
Five seconds later I was wondering if he'd secretly been born on the African savanna.
The Comments Were Just as Delightful:- "Is this free or do I have to pay an entrance fee?"
- "They're all fantastic but my absolute favourite is the giraffe."
- "Why do they all work so well?"
- "Oh my gosh! You made my day!! I haven't laughed this hard in a while. Love it!"
- "My favorite was seeing the giraffe and squirrel. 10/10 zoo experience."
- "This is the best thing I've seen online in ages."
The "10 out of 10 zoo experience" review feels pretty official to me.
No long lines.
No overpriced snacks.
No sunburn.
Just one very patient Pomeranian doing the work of eight different animals.
If this were my dog, I'd already be planning the sequel.
Farm animals.
Sea creatures.
Dinosaurs.
At this point, Mocha has proven he can convincingly become just about anything, and I would happily buy a ticket to every single exhibit.

"That baby needs a tropical drink!"
"I've never been so envious of a dog. It's 95 here and this is exactly what I need 😂"
And then the comment that says everything: "Just getting ready for her Pups Illustrated cover 😌🥰"
Pups Illustrated. Of course. She's been ready for this her entire life. The coconut bikini wasn't an accident. The direct camera stare wasn't a coincidence. Cupcake has a vision and she's executing it with complete professionalism on a backyard splash pad.
But beyond the cover shoot destiny there's a real reason Cupcake chose this outfit and setup. She's a bulldog in summer heat and she's making the smartest possible decision.
Why Splash Pads and Water Play Are Actually Perfect for Bulldogs in SummerAccording to Sea Paws Dog Resort, dogs don't sweat the way we humans do. They cool down almost entirely through panting and in hot humid weather that system just can't keep up. For bulldogs this is an even bigger issue because their flat faces make breathing and panting harder in the first place.
Water play solves this issue in the best possible way. A splash pad or shallow pool gives a bulldog a way to cool down that actually works when panting just can't keep up. The cool water pulls heat away from their skin and coat directly and brings their temperature down quickly.
Sea Paws also points out that water play does a lot more than just cool your dog down. The splashing, the movement and the novelty of a wet setup keep their brain genuinely busy in a way that a nap on the couch just can't. For a bulldog spending more time inside during peak summer heat a splash session is enrichment, exercise and cooling all rolled into one.
The set up doesn't have to be complicated or fancy. A shallow kiddie pool with a few inches of water is plenty. A gentle sprinkler or splash pad like Cupcake's works brilliantly too. My Frenchies and Mastiff all love to run through a sprinkler with my daughters. Sea Paws recommends keeping it supervised, introducing new water setups slowly for first timers and finding a shaded spot where possible.
Cupcake already figured all of this out. The coconut bikini was just her being extra.
Pups Illustrated is calling. She's definitely available and she'll bring her own props. Thank you.

Sweet Doberman Gives Baby ‘First Kisses’ and It’s Too Cute to Resist
When people think of "family dogs," Dobermans typically aren't the first pups that come to mind. We tend to think big, fluffy dogs like Golden Retrievers, Bernese Mountain Dogs, or even a Labrador Retriever. However, Dobermans are an underrated pick!
Recently, one new mama brought home her baby. She has a Doberman and a Boxer, and honestly, she wasn't sure how it would go, but all of that worrying was for nothing at all. The Doberman and the new baby are legitimately the best of friends:
@sw_pilotwifeIt’s the tucked paws for me 😭#doberman #babyboy #foryoupage #fy #dog

Luckily for Zeus, he's also very loud. He has a lot of energy to get out, and having a little sibling is a great way to do it. As he grows up, he'll learn how to do things like pet him, play, and most importantly to any dog, drop food on the floor.

Zeus plays gently with the baby every single day. He loves getting all up in her face, but never actually biting her. He does occasionally give him kisses, but her mom steps in to make sure he doesn't get too crazy with it. He goes crazy in other ways, though:

Are Dobermans Good With Kids?Dobermans can sometimes look a little bit intimidating: they're lean, fast, and often have very pointy ears. This isn't a breed that would be first on a family's mind, but to be honest, maybe it should be!

Dobermans can make incredible family dogs, but they require a very active lifestyle. If you want to get a Doberman for your family, be warned that it's basically like having a perpetual furry toddler! These dogs need daily:
- Walks.
- Playtime.
- Socialization, preferably with other dogs, as they can be prone to reactivity.
This is a breed that would do well with a family that loves running or hiking, too. They love being active, and luckily, children love to run around! Zeus and his baby sibling will be totally unstoppable someday.

Ryan Serhant Says the Real Star of His Hit Show Isn't Him—It's Office Dog Ollie
Ryan Serhant's dog Ollie is stealing the spotlight from him.
Though Serhant may technically be the star of Netflix's Owning Manhattan (who is now taking his business to Texas), at the office, it's his beloved dog Ollie who is the star.
Ollie, a 6-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix, is such a star that Serhant recently partnered with Spruce Weed and Grass Killerto promote healthy yards for dogs, which partnered with The New York Mets for one of their Bark in the Park nights, which allows pups to attend a game.
Serhant got to throw out the opening pitch at a recent Mets game, but Ollie got to ride in a mini Spruce vehicle, and he obviously stole the show.
He even ran away during his dad's big moment in classic Ollie fashion.
@ryanserhant#ad Spruce Weed & Grass Killer and the Mets handed me the ball for the first pitch at Bark at the Park. Bold move because my arm has never been my strong suit. But here's the realtor in me talking: Curb appeal is everything, and a sharp front yard without weeds is the first thing a buyer sees before they ever reach the front door. That's exactly why I love that @JustSpruceIt is pet friendly and weed deadly. It keeps the yard looking move-in ready and Ollie still gets to run it. The catching, we're still working on. #sprucepartner

Ryan Serhant Reveals Why Office Dog Ollie Is the Real Star of 'Owning Manhattan'In an exclusive interview with ParadePets, Serhant opened up about why Ollie continuously steals the spotlight from him at work. "Olive might have me beat in the office, but I’m a close second," Serhant said.
ParadePets: How did Ollie become the unofficial mascot of the brokerage, and when did you realize he was stealing the spotlight?
Serhant: On his very first day in the office at 8 weeks old, my social team created an Instagram for him, and he had over 2K followers in a day.
ParadePets: Does Ollie have an actual "job" around the office? Is he greeting clients, boosting morale, or just demanding treats?
Serhant: He is a big morale booster. Everyone loves having him in the office, but if you’re not careful, he will steal your lunch!
ParadePets: Has Ollie ever completely derailed an important meeting or showing? We'd love to hear the funniest office story involving him.
Serhant: Ollie can never decide if he wants to stay in the meeting or go out and mingle with
everyone else, so he will scratch at the door to be let in—and then 2 minutes later he
tries to get out again… and then he's back again. It never ends! But sometimes, if he's
tired, he will hop up on a chair and join the meeting with us the whole time.
ParadePets: What makes Ollie such a good workplace dog in a fast-paced real estate
environment?
Serhant: He grew up in the office, so he is used to people coming and going and greets everyone. He takes his naps when he wants to be left alone, and if he wants your attention, it’s probably because you are eating food and he is begging for a bite. He just likes to hang
out with everyone like they are his best friends.
ParadePets: Does Ollie have favorite people at SERHANT—or is he as good at networking as the agents?
Serhant: He's a pretty good networker—his favorite people are the ones who eat at their desks. He likes to remind people when it's lunchtime by coming up to them and nudging his
head on their arm.
ParadePets: What are a few simple things every pet parent can do to make their
yard a safer, more dog-friendly place?
Serhant: I deal with making first impressions in properties all the time, and keeping weeds under control is a big part of maintaining a premium look. But pet [parents] want to be able to have a yard that looks great while still being safe for their pets. This is exactly what
Spruce Weed & Grass Killer offers, as it's made differently to work differently with simple

Heartbroken Cat Mom Left Her Cat Tree Outside, Then Woke Up to the Sweetest Surprise
Losing a cat is one of the hardest things a cat parent can go through. They leave little reminders of themselves everywhere, from their favorite sleeping spot to the toys they somehow managed to hide under every piece of furniture. Putting those things away is never easy, especially when each one carries so many memories.
That's what makes this story so touching. After one grieving cat mom put her beloved cat's tree outside because she couldn't bear to look at it anymore, she woke up the next morning to find that someone else had already claimed it.

"After my cat passed away I put his cat tree outside ready to throw away and the next morning..."
The video then reveals an adorable black cat stretched out on top of the cat tree like he'd been living there his entire life.
To make the moment even sweeter, his tiny tongue is sticking out just enough to make him look completely relaxed.

- "There is always somewhere for love to go."
- "Well that was a quick assignment from the system."
- "Your baby sent you a baby to love."
- "Most literal cat tree of all time."
- "Cat distribution system is fast."
"A void to fill the void" might be one of the most clever comments I've ever read.

Of course, there's no actual organization assigning cats to people. The phrase has simply become a funny way to describe those surprising moments when a stray, neighborhood cat or unexpected feline visitor seems to appear out of nowhere and change someone's life.
Stories like this one are a big reason the joke has become so popular. Whether the black cat was looking for a comfy place to nap or simply happened to wander by at the perfect moment, the timing felt incredibly meaningful to thousands of viewers.
Either way, that cat tree clearly wasn't ready to be thrown away just yet, and it ended up giving another cat the perfect place to curl up for a nap.

Unique ‘Golden’ Ragdoll Cat Meets a Golden Retriever — and We Can’t Tell Them Apart
Ragdoll cats and Golden Retrievers are two of my favorite animals in the world. They're both so beautiful, but beyond that, they make great pets! They're kind, caring, and can thrive in a wide variety of situations, so long as you make sure to love them.
Apparently, they can also get along together! Recently, one cat and dog mom shared a video of her Golden Retriever — and the matching Golden Ragdoll cat to go along with her. The two of them look like they were clearly meant to be family:
@pearlsragdollsWhen golden cats meet golden dog
♬ original sound - banned_shannonPearl's Ragdolls is home to about a dozen cats at any given time, plus their kittens. Pearl prides herself on raising the cats in her in-home cattery, with her children and their other cat family. There's one more very important piece of the puzzle, though: her Golden Retriever, Lucy.
Lucy is well into her teen years at this p oint. She's helped raise hundreds of kittens, and she's even been around for the birth of Pearl's two actual children! She's a staple in their home, but recently, along came a kitten who looked just like her!
Related: Rare, Fully Brown Ragdoll Cat Looks Like a Little Chocolate Chip
This golden Ragdoll kitten's name is Copper. Just like every other kitten in the house, he's really bonded with Lucy, but this time, it definitely took a minute! You can see him hissing at her at first, but it's OK. They're good now! Close up, you can really see both his fluffy golden coat and his huge baby eyes:
@pearlsragdollsCopper doesn't like being alone
♬ original sound - Pearl’s RagdollsPersonally, I've never understood how Pearl gets anything done. If I were in her house, I would simply be snuggling kittens and ignoring every other responsibility all day long.
Should You Raise Kittens With Dogs?Pearl's Ragdolls all love having Lucy around. She's big, fluffy, and a lot of fun to snuggle. None of the cats ever have problems with her, at least long term: some apprehension is completely normal at first, but it goes away fast when they learn how awesome she is.
While you definitely don't have to raise kittens with dogs, it does have benefits. Whether you have a cattery or you just like to foster kittens, having a dog around:
- Gives kittens someone to play with when they're old enough
- Exposes them to the sights, sounds, and smells of dogs during their most vital period
- Increases their adoptability by marketing to people who are looking for kittens/cats who can cohabitate with dogs
The Golden Retriever is one of the best choices if you do want to raise your kittens with dogs. They notoriously get along with cats pretty well, even in their kitten phase ... Which, to me, is arguably the most annoying (and the cutest!). Copper and Lucy definitely prove that!

Vet's Dog Overheating Warning Goes Viral--Every Pet Parent Needs to See This Right Now
It only takes a few minutes outside. That's it. Your dog doesn't have to be running around playing. Doesn't have to be in a hot car with the windows up. Just a few minutes in this summer heat is enough for heatstroke to begin. A veterinarian wants every pet parent to see exactly what that looks like.
The TikTok from @tandcvet has been viewed 4.8 million times and the reason is right there in the text overlay: "This is what overheating looks like in a dog... every pet parent needs to see this."
What's in the video will stop you cold. A brindlebulldog lies still, covered in cooling blankets, water being sprayed across his coat, oxygen being administered. This is emergency veterinary treatment for heatstroke happening in real time. Thankfully, this dog made it to a vet–not every dog does.
@tandcvetIt's only been a few minutes outside... but your dog is already overheating. Heatstroke can happen faster than you think—even on days that don't feel extremely hot. Watch for these warning signs: • Excessive panting • Thick or excessive drooling • Bright red or pale gums • Weakness or stumbling • Vomiting or diarrhea • Confusion or collapse Seek veterinary care right away. Heatstroke is a medical emergency. Help us spread the word this summer heat is no joke. #townandcountryanimalhospital #fyp #vetmed #summer
♬ original sound - tandcvetThe caption lays the warning signs out clearly: excessive panting, thick or excessive drooling, bright red or pale gums, weakness or stumbling, vomiting or diarrhea, confusion or collapse. Then four words that matter more than anything else: seek veterinary care immediately.
4.8 million people watched this. The comments showed exactly why this information is imperative for fur parents.
"Thinking about the animals that stay outside"
"If humans can't tolerate heat what makes people think pets can?"
"My dogs go out to pee and that's it — if it's too hot for me it's too hot for them"
"Thats why our baby stays indoors with the A/C on full blast"
"My girl hates hot weather and just wants to be inside in the AC — she's a husky mix with all black fur so she gets so hot so quick 😭"
And then the one moment of lightness that somehow makes the whole thing land even harder: "Mean while my Shitzu wants to sunbathe when it's 100° like bro, we're both gonna die out here"
Here's what the vet wants every pet parent to know before they open that back door and send those fur babies out into this summer heat.
The Warning Signs of Dog Overheating—and What to Do the Second You See ThemAccording to the AKC, dogs don't sweat the way we do. They cool themselves almost entirely through panting, pulling cooler air in and pushing warm moist air out. When it's hot and humid outside that system stops working and body temperature climbs fast.
A dog's normal temperature is around 102 degrees Fahrenheit. A few degrees above that and the danger starts. Above 106 degrees things can escalate to seizures, collapse or coma very quickly.
Watch for these signs of heatstroke: frantic panting, thick saliva, bright red gums, weakness and vomiting. If you see any of them, don't wait. Get to a vet immediately. Start cooling your dog down on the way, not instead of going.
If you need to cool your dog down, the AKC says to move them somewhere cooler right away and spray cool water on their coat. Not cold water. Cold water actually restricts the blood vessels near the skin and makes cooling down slower not faster.
Even if your dog seems completely fine after that incident, a vet visit is still essential. Damage can still be happening on the inside even when they look perfectly fine.
Some dogs are at a higher risk for overheating. The AKC notes that bulldogs and other flat-faced breeds have shorter airways which makes it harder to pant efficiently, their main way of cooling down. And, dogs with thick or dark coats absorb more heat. Older and overweight dogs overheat faster, too.
And the parked car situation cannot be overstated. Even on a mild day in the mid-60s a closed car heats up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit within minutes. A dog can expire in, as little as, 15 minutes. There’s no safe version of leaving a dog in a parked car.
The brindle bulldog in this video was treated in time. Share this before someone needs it.
Heatstroke is a medical emergency. Act immediately.

Golden Retriever Gets a 'Naughty' Report Card From Day Care — and the Photos Are Priceless
All parents dread the call or the note sent home. Your child had an issue in school and the administration is making you aware of their behavior. Now you have to address the problem to prevent it from happening again.
The same incidents can occur with our fur babies when they are at "school" or on a playdate. Moose the Golden Retriever got in some hot water, literally and figuratively, over a situation involving a pool at day care.
@madelinecw_He is so funny. Also kibble on in the bed on sheet washing day hahahaha #goldenretriever #swimmingdog #puppy #babyboy
♬ original sound - sakanelli✨In the TikTok from @madelinecw_, Moose stared into the camera with a look that seemed to say, "I did nothing wrong." But the video relayed the truth of what transpired.
"Got a note on my dog's report card from daycare that he struggled with sharing the pool with his friends today and it had these pictures attached," the on-screen text explained.
Several photos of evidence revealed the greedy Golden taking up the entire length and width of the baby pool. His friends looked on from the sidelines and soon realized they weren't getting a turn. The expression on Moose's face showed no remorse.
Despite being chastised for his selfishness, Moose continued his antics at home by breaking a well-known rule.
"Also kibble on in the bed on sheet washing day," the caption read.
Followers immediately advocated for Moose and felt he was treated unfairly:
- "He’s a big boy. That’s rude. Body shaming isn’t necessary," one contested.
- "Not his fault, he’s innocent — the pool should be bigger," another noted.
- "In his defense, I see a few other open pools in the distance," a follower remarked.
- "He reserved a private pool," someone suggested.
- "They didn't prove any one was waiting on it... why would he need to get out?" a fan pointed out.

What to Look for in a Good Doggie Day CareWhen selecting a day care for your dog, make sure some essential factors are addressed. Questions to ask include:
- Is it clean and organized?
- Does it provide secure fencing?
- Is the area free of dangerous items like electrical cords, wires, or broken toys?
- Does it offer a comfortable amount of space with minimal odors and appropriate temperature?
- Is there enough staff to ensure all dogs are safe and that they get daily mental and physical stimulation?
- Do they offer regular communication?
- What training has the staff received?
These are just a few aspects to research before finalizing your decision. Moose looks quite content at his doggie day care, even if they do need a bigger pool.

Cats May Prefer Silver Vine Over Catnip
For years, catnip has been the ultimate “magic trick” for cat owners, turning even the laziest feline into a rolling, purring bundle of energy. But new research suggests it may no longer be the most irresistible plant in the cat world. So what is?
Scientists now say there may be something cats respond to even more strongly than catnip: a lesser-known plant called silver vine. Early studies, including research from Iwate University, suggest that many cats show an even more intense and longer-lasting reaction to it than they do to traditional catnip.
This discovery is giving pet parents a new cat enrichment tool to explore, especially for cats that don’t respond to catnip at all. Here’s what researchers and veterinarians have found about silver vine, why cats are so drawn to it, and what you should know before introducing it to your own pet. See if it's something you want to give your furry companion!
What Is Silver Vine and Why Do Cats React to It? A pet parent giving their cat silver vine.If you've never heard of silver vine, you're not alone. In fact, a lot of cat parents are only recently discovering this catnip alternative. Silver vine, also known as Actinidia polygama or matatabi, is a climbing plant native to parts of East Asia. While it's only recently become popular with cat owners in North America, veterinarians have been familiar with it for years.
“It started appearing in the veterinary and animal behavior literature about 15 years ago, although the overall body of research is still relatively small compared with many other aspects of feline behavior,” explains Vetster veterinarian Dr. Jo Myers.
Like catnip, silver vine contains natural compounds called iridoids that trigger playful cat behavior such as rolling, rubbing, licking, drooling, and bursts of excitement.
“There’s also a clever survival angle,” adds Dr. Kate Elden, chief medical officer at Dutch. “When a cat rubs in it, one of the plant's active compounds, nepetalactol, rubs off onto their fur, and works as a natural mosquito repellent. So that blissed-out roll may double as bug protection.”
Silver Vine vs Catnip: What Makes It Different? A cat eating a catnip plant.Think of silver vine as catnip’s more powerful alternative, but not necessarily a replacement.
“Catnip works beautifully for many cats, but not all,” Dr. Elden says. “Silver vine tends to appeal to even more cats, including many cats who shrug at catnip, because it contains a broader mix of active scent compounds.”
Researchers estimate that around 25–33% of cats don’t respond to catnip due to genetics, but many of those same cats do respond to silver vine.
“Neither option is universally better,” notes Dr. Melinda Fleming, veterinarian at TelaVets.com. “Some cats clearly prefer silver vine, while others remain devoted to catnip. Having both available can provide variety and help keep environmental enrichment interesting.”
What Scientists Discovered About Cats and Silver Vine Two domestic cats exploring a new form of sensory enrichment. One of the most surprising findings from recent research is that silver vine may be more appealing to cats even when catnip contains higher levels of active compounds.
Using chemical analysis techniques like gas chromatography, researchers found that catnip contained significantly more bioactive iridoids per gram than silver vine.
Despite this, cats still showed stronger reactions to silver vine in many cases.
Scientists believe the difference may come down to compound diversity rather than quantity, meaning silver vine may stimulate more sensory pathways in cats.
Is Silver Vine Safe for Cats? A cat licking its lips in excitement after exposure to silver vine.Getty Images Viktoriya Skorikova
Based on the recent research, silver vine appears to be safe for most healthy cats when offered in moderation as an enrichment activity. It’s considered non-toxic and non-addictive, and most cats naturally lose interest once the effects wear off.
“I wouldn't think of it as a medication or a supplement with proven medical benefits,” Dr. Myers says. “I'd think of it the same way I think about catnip: an environmental enrichment tool that many cats appear to enjoy.”
However, experts note that moderation is important as the biggest risks aren’t from the plant itself, but from how it’s offered.
“Eating large amounts of any type of plant material can cause mild gastrointestinal upset, and sticks or toys can become a choking or intestinal obstruction hazard if a cat chews off and swallows pieces,” Dr. Myers explains. “Supervision is always a good idea when introducing any new enrichment product.”
Why Cat Enrichment Matters for Indoor Cats A cat playing with toys after having silver vine.Indoor cats rely heavily on their environment for stimulation, exercise, and emotional well-being. Without enough enrichment, cats can become bored, which may lead to behaviors like excessive meowing, scratching furniture, or sudden bursts of restless energy.
That’s why tools like catnip, silver vine, puzzle feeders, and interactive toys are more than just fun extras, they’re important parts of feline enrichment. These experiences help support a cat’s natural instincts to hunt, explore, and play in a safe, healthy way.
For many pet parents, introducing new forms of stimulation can also strengthen the bond between cats and their owners, turning everyday playtime into meaningful interaction. Whether it’s catnip or silver vine, providing variety helps keep indoor cats mentally engaged, physically active, and emotionally satisfied.
How to Introduce Silver Vine to Your Cat A pet parent giving her cat silver vine. When trying silver vine for the first time, remember that less is more. Every cat reacts differently, so it’s best to let your furry friend explore it at their own pace rather than encouraging or forcing interaction.
“Sprinkle a pinch of powder on a toy, scratcher or bed, or offer a silver vine toy and see how they respond,” Dr. Elden recommends. “Let your cat sniff and engage on their own terms.”
Some cats might immediately start rolling, rubbing their cheeks against the toy or licking the area where the silver vine was placed. Others may simply sniff it and walk away, which is also perfectly normal. If your cat doesn't react right away, don't assume they’re not interested. You can always try again another day or experiment with a different form, such as powder, dried sticks or a plush toy filled with silver vine. Keep in mind that all reactions are normal and depend on the individual cat.
A typical play session usually lasts just 5-15 minutes before your cat naturally loses interest. “Rotate it with catnip or other enrichment scents to keep it exciting,” Dr. Elden suggests. “Keep it special, not constant.”
As long as your cat is enjoying it safely and under supervision, silver vine can be another fun way to provide mental stimulation, encourage natural play and add a little extra joy to their daily routine.
