Bumblebee Becomes Hilarious ‘Pollen Puff’ After Visiting a Very Pretty Flower
Bumblebees are so underrated, and because they’re bees, they tend to get a bad rap. Personally, whenever I see one of these sweet bees, I can’t help but smile! They’re fluffy and hardworking … What else could anyone possibly want from them?!
One bumblebee was having the time of her life recently. It’s the perfect time of year for beautiful flowers, and you can bet that she’s taking full advantage. She got caught on camera after visiting a flower, and it’s too funny:

♬ Funny Sound – Mikz MomentsKathy Jennings caught this bumblebee diligently gathering some nectar, and I’ve never seen anything quite like it. She is absolutely covered in pollen, almost looking like a snowman with it all over her! She’s going to be able to pollinate every flower in the neighborhood!
Most likely, she already had a bunch of pollen all over her, only to pick more up from this flower and spread some to it. She was in the flower for the nectar, but pollen was a total bonus. And a lot of it!

This is not the first time Kathy has caught one of these pollen puffs in her yard. She loves gardening and has lots of pretty flowers! The bees can’t get enough, and they’re always twirling around in there:
@kathyjennings495BEE #missionimpossible #pollen #pollinators #roseofsharon #flower 🐝🌸
♬ Mission Impossible Theme (Movie Trailer Mix) – Dominik HauserApparently, they really like these flowers. They’re “Rose of Sharon,” also known as the common hibiscus: lots of nectar, lots of pollen, and as a result, lots of bees!
Do Bees Use Pollen?Bees visit flowers to gather nectar. They use that nectar to make honey; pollen simply gets on them while they’re taking the nectar. The pollen spreads from there as they visit other flowers.

Bees actually do use the pollen they collect while they’re getting nectar for a variety of things. Not only does it pollinate the other flowers they visit, but bees also use pollen to:
- Feed the larvae in the hive.
- Make “royal jelly” for their queen.
- Produce “bee bread,” which is a protein-dense emergency food storage option.
Of all of the pollen that those bees managed to get on them, odds are that very little actually made it back to the hive. That’s just the way it should be!

The Best Calming Products for Dogs During Back-to-School Season
The final weeks of summer come with a bittersweet countdown for a lot of households, and it’s one that your dog can feel just as much as you can. As backpacks get packed and school supply lists get checked off, the quiet, structured chaos of a new school year is on the horizon.
But while kids are gearing up for a fresh start, their four-legged siblings are often left scrambling to adjust. For months, dogs have had near-constant companionship: lazy mornings with the whole family home, midday walks and afternoons filled with play.

Come September, though, that all changes. Suddenly, the house is empty for hours at a time, routines shift overnight and the steady rhythm your dog has grown used to disappears almost without warning. It’s no surprise that this transition may trigger real anxiety in our pets, from restlessness and pacing to more serious signs of stress.
The good news is that with a little preparation, you can help ease your dog into the new normal before the first bell even rings. We spoke with experts to find out which calming products actually make a difference, and how to introduce them the right way so your pup feels supported through every back-to-school transition.
Our Panel of ExpertsThese are the two experts we spoke to about the best calming products for dogs.
- Dr. Julie Hunt is a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance.
- Molly Jespersen is a training specialist at Camp Bow Wow.
Back-to-school season is challenging not just for kids and parents, but for their dogs as well. The abrupt shift in routine and the suddenly empty house are among the reasons many pups may struggle when classes resume.
According to Dr. Julie Hunt, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance, family members waking up and going to sleep at different times—and being gone for long hours—can make it difficult for dogs to maintain their regular routines. Beyond actual school hours, children who once spent all day playing with their pets are now occupied with homework or after-school activities.
Since dogs are creatures of habit, these schedule changes can disrupt their well-being and trigger anxiety in even the calmest pets.
The 5 Best Vet-Recommended Calming Products to Ease the TransitionCreative Images Lab / Getty Images
From pheromone-based collars to calming chews and probiotics, there’s no shortage of products designed to take the edge off a dog’s back-to-school jitters. Here’s what our experts recommend as the best calming products for dogs, plus how to use them.
Calming CollarsChewy
Calming collars work by releasing dog-appeasing pheromones, the same comforting scent a mother dog gives off to her puppies. Dr. Hunt points to options like Adaptil Calm On-the-Go and the Sentry Calming Collar as her go-to picks. Jespersen is also a fan of pheromone-based tools, noting that diffusers like Adaptil can have a similarly soothing effect around the house.
Calming ChewsChewy
Chews formulated with ingredients like L-theanine or chamomile are one of Jespersen’s top recommendations for easing dogs into a new routine. Options like Zesty Paws Stress & Anxiety Calming Bites come with these ingredients and are made in flavors pups will love. She also suggests giving dogs long-lasting chews to occupy them productively during those first few lonely hours home alone.
Related: The Best Portable Dog Water Bottles for Long Summer Walks
Puzzle FeedersChewy
Puzzle feeders serve a similar purpose to long-lasting chews, according to Jespersen, giving dogs a mentally engaging task to focus on instead of fixating on an empty house. They’re a simple way to redirect nervous energy into something fun and rewarding. The Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Puppy Lickin’ Layers Slow Feeder from Chewy offers a multi-tiered puzzle feeder that will entertain your pups while everyone’s out.
ProbioticsPurina
Calming probiotics, such as Purina Pro Plan Calming Care, are another option Dr. Hunt recommends to support steady behavior over time. She also mentions Zylkene, a milk protein extract that interacts with GABA receptors in the brain to help promote a sense of calm.
SupplementsNutramax
Beyond collars and chews, there are multi-ingredient calming supplements like Solliquin and Composure, which Dr. Hunt says can help support a calmer overall temperament. Anxiety wraps, such as the ThunderShirt, are another tool Jespersen recommends, offering dogs a snug, swaddle-like pressure that many find comforting.
As with any new product, Dr. Hunt recommends checking with your veterinarian first, especially if your dog has underlying health conditions.
Why You Should Introduce These Products NowHugo Alejandro Salazar S / Getty Images
Waiting until the first day of school to introduce a calming chew or a new anxiety wrap is a bit like handing someone a life jacket after they’ve already jumped in the water, Jespersen says. Dogs need time to build a positive association with these tools, so working them in a few weeks ahead of time lets your dog get comfortable with the taste, feel or scent of a product before it actually matters.
Dr. Hunt echoes this timeline, noting that most over-the-counter calming products take up to 30 days of consistent use to reach their full potential. She also points out that not every dog responds to the same product the same way. You might start with a calming diet for 30 days, only to find it’s not quite enough, then layer in a calming collar on top of it. If that combination still isn’t cutting it, Dr. Hunt says that’s a sign to loop in your veterinarian to talk about stronger, prescription-strength calming options, including medication.
Products vs. Training: When to Call in a ProfessionalCalming products are wonderful for taking the edge off, but Jespersen is clear that they’re not a substitute for training when a dog’s anxiety runs deeper than nerves. If your dog is having accidents, injuring themselves trying to escape or barking nonstop while you’re away, that’s a sign the issue needs more than a chew or a collar can offer.
A certified trainer can build a customized plan for your dog, and in some cases, pairing that plan with the right calming products may lead to a far stronger outcome than either approach could achieve alone.
Final TakeawaysBack-to-school season may mean a quieter house, but it doesn’t have to mean a more anxious dog. With a little planning, whether that’s a calming chew, a pheromone collar or simply carving out more one-on-one time before the routine shifts, you can help your pup ease into the transition instead of being blindsided by it.
And if the signs of stress go beyond what a product alone can help, know that reaching out to a trainer isn’t a last resort, but simply another tool in helping your dog feel secure. A little preparation now means a calmer, more confident dog by the time the school bus starts rolling by every morning.

Vets Warn Late Summer Is Peak Tick Season—Here's What Most Dog Owners Don't Know
For many dog parents and their four-legged friends, the end of summer is the last chance to make memories before the season winds down and take advantage of those final outdoor adventures. While it’s true that these moments matter, it’s also true that late summer is when ticks start to plague our pets. During these warmer, humid months, tick populations surge, hiding in tall grasses and wooded trails where dogs often roam. This sudden seasonal spike significantly increases the risk of disease transmission, making constant inspections essential for dog safety.
Though ticks are dangerous for pets year-round, late summer is peak tick season. While it might seem like the weather is starting to cool off, a mix of climate and environmental factors makes the August and September months prime time for ticks to strike.

While it’s important to practice tick prevention year-round, we spoke to four experts to find out exactly what you need to watch for during peak tick season to keep your dog safe. Even if it’s tempting to let your guard down with fall around the corner, August and September are the months when dog parents need to be even more on high alert for their pup’s safety.
Our Panel of ExpertsThese are the four experts we spoke with about keeping your dog safe during peak tick season.
- Dr. Casey Locklear, DVM, is the director of medical strategy for Parasitology and Credelio Quattro at Elanco Animal Health.
- Dr. Nathaniel Rakestraw, DVM, is a veterinarian with TelaVets.com.
- Jenny Prevel is a lifelong dog owner and author of D for Dog.
- Dr. Aliya McCullough, DVM, is the chief veterinary officer and director of veterinary affairs at Fetch Pet Insurance.
Even though fall is just around the corner, many parts of the country are still hot and humid in August and September. Dr. Casey Locklear, a veterinarian and the director of medical strategy for Parasitology and Credelio Quattro at Elanco Animal Health, says there’s a common misconception among pet parents that ticks die off with colder temperatures. In reality, ticks can survive in temperatures above 35 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning they’re active for most of the year.
Because pet parents tend to let their guard down in August and September, it’s not uncommon for a tick to go unnoticed and stay attached longer than it should. And the longer a tick stays on your pup, the higher the risk of disease transmission.
3 Dangerous Tick Prevention Mistakes Most Owners Are Making Right NowAlthough dog parents are generally aware of ticks and their dangers, there are still plenty of mistakes being made when it comes to prevention. Here are the most common ones experts warn about as the summer season winds down.
Related: The Nighttime Routine That Prevents Summer Fleas and Ticks From Ruining Your Bed
1. Not using tick prevention year-round.Ticks aren’t just a summer problem; they’re here year-round. Dr. Locklear warns that pet parents often skip year-round prevention, mistaking tick season for just a few weeks out of the year. She emphasizes that consistent, year-round prevention is the best way to protect your pup from ticks and other parasites.
2. Assuming you’re safe from ticks.Beyond misjudging tick season, pet parents also tend to assume ticks only exist in wooded areas. Dr. Nathaniel Rakestraw, a veterinarian with TelaVets.com, says that pets can pick up ticks in all kinds of environments, including neighborhood parks, backyards and overgrown trails. Even in the city, ticks aren’t a region-specific issue—every dog needs proper prevention, no matter where they live.
3. Incorrectly removing a tick.Removing a tick might seem as simple as grabbing tweezers and pulling it off, but doing it incorrectly may lead to even more problems. Jenny Prevel, a lifelong dog parent and author of D for Dog, explains that failing to remove a tick completely may cause it to regurgitate its toxic fluids into your dog. Leaving any part of the tick behind can also continue to cause damage to the skin.
Where Ticks Actually Hide on Your Dog’s BodyIrina KRAVCHENKO / Getty Images
Ticks can hide almost anywhere and can attach to your dog at any moment. That said, there are a few spots they tend to seek out most, especially areas with thinner skin. Checking these spots regularly can help you catch a tick early before it becomes a bigger problem.
Head and NeckIf your dog loves sniffing through grass and bushes—which many do—the head and neck are a great place to start your tick search. Ticks gravitate toward warm areas, and the head and neck are often the first places they land.
Near the ToesJust like the head and neck, the toes are often one of the first places ticks come into contact with your dog. Dr. Aliya McCullough, chief veterinary officer and director of veterinary affairs at Fetch Pet Insurance, recommends checking the paw area and between the toes for any hidden ticks.
Under the TailDr. Rakestraw also warns pet parents about how sneaky ticks can be, often latching on in spots that are rarely checked. The area beneath the tail is warm and easy to overlook, making it an ideal hiding spot for ticks. Pet parents should do a quick check here to make sure their pup’s tail is free of any unwanted visitors.
Near the LegsThe legs are another common hiding spot for ticks. Dr. McCullough recommends checking between the back legs and under the front legs, where ticks may be harder to spot at a glance.
The 3-Step Guide to Removing a Tick (Without Leaving the Head)LittleCityLifestylePhotography / Getty Images
Ticks might be a scary thought when it comes to your dog’s health, but the good news is that removing one takes just three simple steps.
1. Part the fur. Before grabbing tweezers or a tick remover, get a clear look at the tick. Start by parting the fur around it to make sure you can see the entire critter. This also helps you avoid unnecessarily pulling out any of your dog’s fur in the process.
2. Pinch and pull the tick.To remove the tick, Dr. Locklear recommends using a proper tick removal tool, like a tick hook, for the best grip. Pinch the tick close to the skin, and pull it straight upward without twisting.
3. Clean the area properly. After removing the tick, clean the area with warm water and mild soap to help prevent infection. If the skin becomes red or inflamed, it’s best to see a vet.
The ‘Wait and Watch’ Window: When to Call the VetNikola Stojadinovic / Getty Images
It’s not necessary to call the vet every time you find a tick, but there are moments when it’s worth looping in your pet’s medical professional. Dr. Rakestraw recommends calling if you’re unable to remove the entire tick, or if the area becomes swollen or infected. If your dog develops symptoms like lethargy or changes in appetite, it’s best to seek medical attention right away.
Ticks might be a major concern during the summer, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore them the rest of the year. Without proper care or removal, ticks can quickly turn from a minor pest into a serious medical issue. Knowing how to spot and remove ticks during peak season can help keep your dog healthy and happy all year long.

Meet the Tiny Torbie Kitten Who Converted a Diehard Dog Lover Into a Full-On Cat Person
She grew up with three miniature schnauzers, spent her entire childhood surrounded by dogs, and walked into adulthood fully convinced she was a dog person for life. Then she got Bixby.
In a post to Reddit’s r/CatDistributionSystem, one woman shared. “I’ve officially been converted to a cat person. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for dogs, but… I’ll never look back.”

All it took was one kitten to change her entire perspective on the dog-people-versus-cat-people discussion.
Meet Bixby, the Kitten Who Won Her OverAfter moving out of her parents’ house and starting her own life, OP decided to try something different. Having spent most of her life around dogs, she wanted to give a kitty a chance.
Then Bixby arrived, and the four-month-old kitten made such an impression that she switched from being a dog person to a cat person. She describes him as a serious cuddle bug and her new favorite alarm clock. Talking about her soulmate, she says she is “ridiculously perfect.”
Bixby has an eye-catching coat, and his mom wonders whether he is a torbie, a cat with both tabby striping and tortoiseshell colors. He has orange-and-white coloring at the tip of his tail, which is one of his best features.

“Welcome to the Cat Side. We Have Treats!”Redditors quickly welcomed her to the community. One commenter wrote, “Welcome to the cat side. We have treats.” Another cat person was more formal, welcoming her to the “exquisite experience of kitty coexistence” and the broader community of cat people she had just joined.
Another cat parent shared their similar experience of growing up with small rescue dogs and eventually getting their first cat.
Owning a Cat Is Different Than Owning a DogThe biggest adjustment from dog ownership to cat parenting is not about logistics; it is about emotions. Dogs make their feelings known. They run toward you, wag their tail, and follow you from one room to another.
Cats are more selective. They can ignore you for 20 minutes before climbing onto your lap.
The routine feels different as well. Dogs need daily walks, exercise, training and mental stimulation. Cats can meet most of their needs indoors and entertain themselves without bothering you. Still, at the end of the day, you do not need to choose a team.
Bixby’s story is a reminder that loving one species does not prevent you from falling head over heels for another. You can be a dog person and a cat person at the same time!

The toys in the gift box include a curvy swirl bone, a textured dental bone, and a wintergreen-flavored ring. Two of the toys work great as puppy teething toys, and all provide different shapes and textures for dogs and puppies to explore. The toys can handle even the most powerful chewers and are designed to support dental health.
Why Teething Puppies Need a Dedicated Chew ToyChewing is a normal behavior in puppies, and pet parents need to prepare for it accordingly. Between three and six months, puppies lose their baby teeth and grow adult teeth.
Their gums ache during the process, so to soothe the pressure and discomfort, puppies seek relief. If you fail to provide them with something to chew on, they will find their own solutions—perhaps your shoes, furniture or charging cables.

Costco Shoppers Approve Nubz as WellTeddy of AGuyandAGolden fame recently gave his stamp of approval to Nubz. His dad, Johnathan Lower, posted a funny video of Teddy, Archie and Roo trying to get more treats after their dad said they had enough.
Teddy is not the only one who loves Nubz. Costco shoppers are praising these treats and chew toys. One reviewer said, “Our dog loves Nubz and he is a puppy so this was a no brainer.”
Another wrote, “Nylabones are just what he needs to chew on for his growing teeth too. Good for him and good for us instead of our slippers.”
Speaking of the gift box, one reviewer said, “This is a great gift to put under the tree.” Another talked about the practical aspect, saying, “I have dogs of all sizes and they love to chew. I prefer them chewing on toys rather than things in the house. Nylabone toys fit the bill.”
If you have a teething puppy, getting the gift box is a great bargain. You get toys for your pup to chew and treats to reward him for good behavior.
If you want only the Nubz treats, Costco is currently running a promotion for two packs of Nubz (22 treats in each pack) for only $35.99.

Tiny Munchkin Kitten Touches Grass for the First Time and Is Clearly in Total Awe
Caring for a kitten means getting to experience all of their firsts with them, and it can be such an adorable thing. They usually have big reactions to things we’ve come to think of as pretty mundane, which is the perfect reminder to stop and appreciate the small things.
Even touching grass for the first time was a big deal for the Munchkin kitten in the video below, and the look on sweet little Marshall’s face is everything.
@helenaslittlehobbitsMarshall, you are the highlight for a lot of people. We are rooting for you big boy! #kittensoftiktok #catsoftiktok #kitten #cat #kitty
♬ original sound – JayCat rescuer Helena’s Little Hobbits on TikTok shared this footage of Marshall exploring outside, and his eyes are huge as he tries to take it all in.
His tiny little legs can’t get him anywhere fast, but he’s still wobbling around the yard, trying to figure out what all this green stuff is.
He’s so small (but still so fluffy). It’s no wonder he was a little taken aback by the outside world!
How to Safely Introduce a Kitten to the OutdoorsSome kittens spend most of their lives outdoors before they’re adopted, but that’s not the case for many. That means that if you ever want to bring your kitten outside, you’re going to have to prepare for a slow and cautious introduction.
According to International Cat Care, you should wait until your kitten is at least six months old before bringing them outside to check things out, and they should be fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered before they begin exploring the outdoors (for their own safety, of course).
It’s also a good idea to make sure that your kitten is microchipped, that way if they do get separated from you, there’s a way for someone to find out that they already have a human.
A kitten walking in the grassThe site recommends letting them out on a dry day at a time when it’s quiet outside. Make sure to supervise them, even if you plan on eventually letting them go out by themselves, because they may not be able to find their way back home without you the first few times they venture out.
Some kittens are simply not going to be fans of the outdoors, and that’s okay. As we learned from Marshall, the grass alone can really throw some kittens for a loop.

Golden Retriever's 'Invisible Super Spy' Sneak Attack on His Brother Fails Adorably
What little kid doesn’t dream of becoming an international super spy at some point in their childhood? Especially if they have a sibling to sneak up on. Well, dogs can get in on this game, too. Benny, the sweetest Golden Retriever, has all the sly, sneaky moves. The only problem? His brother is on to him.
Despite what Benny may think, it’s pretty clear that he is not actually invisible. In this hilarious video, set to the perfectly chosen “International Super Spy” song from the kid’s show The Backyardigans, Benny moves stealthily across the living room in the most adorable slow-motion—one paw carefully set in front of the other.
@goldenretrieverblu_Benny is an invisible super spy 🕵️♂️ 🫥 #stalker #goldenretriever #funnydog #funnydogvideos #dogs
♬ International Super Spy – dHis plan is clear: He will sneak up on his brother, then pounce! But in classic sibling fashion, his brother notices him approaching and gives him the most epic side-eye, stopping him in his tracks. You can almost hear Benny’s bro saying, “Stalker, much?” with an eye roll like he’s the star of his own ‘90s TV show.
Why Do Dogs Love to ‘Sneak’ and Pounce?Sneaking around the house is fun for kids and dogs alike, but for canines, it is actually a part of their natural prey instinct that has been around for thousands of years. Dogs descend from hunters, and the stalking—then pouncing or chasing—is a part of their natural prey drive.
While Benny is certainly not trying to hunt his brother, this innate behavior has become a part of how many dogs play. Most likely, Benny is just trying to get his moody housemate to play with him. Dogs often stalk, freeze, or pounce as an invitation to get another dog—or even a person to—to join in on the fun.
Related: Adorable Golden Retriever Is a Total Party Foul at Happy Hour
According to PetMD, this prey drive can be problematic if it “hinders a dog from engaging in everyday activities.” For example, if your dog gets so preoccupied with chasing squirrels that they can’t focus on anything else for the entirety of an afternoon walk, you may need to look into some ways to manage their behavior—like playing prey-driven games with them or continuing training.
As for Benny, it seems like the only one who thinks his super spy sneakiness is a problem, is his eye-rolling brother.
Shelter Cat With 'One Eye and Three Legs' Is Still a Total Lovebug, Despite All He's Been Through
Many cats who end up in shelters come from unknown origins. Some kitties are found abandoned, and others are found living on the streets, creating a mystery as to what transpired earlier in their lives. One kitty certainly has a tumultuous past, but he isn’t letting that stop him.
A shelter cat named Gumpert is currently residing at Homeward Bound Pet Adoption in Camden County, New Jersey. This little guy arrived at the shelter with one eye and three legs, leaving people to wonder what happened to him. Despite his setbacks, Gumpert isn’t giving up hope of finding a forever family.
View this post on InstagramWow, what a brave little fella he is! Gumpert has clearly been through some tough times, but he doesn’t let that get him down. He still loves to play with toys and enjoy a variety of treats. This sweet kitty isn’t short on love either, as the rescue describes him as “affectionate and curious.” We know the right home is out there for him!
People in the comments are rooting for Gumpert. One viewer said, “I can tell what a sweet boy you are. So strong and resilient. I know life has beautiful things in store for you,” while another person said, “Praying this sweet boy finds some love and peace in his life.”
Gumpert deserves all the love and happiness possible, and the right person to give it to him is out there.

How To Care for a Cat With Special NeedsEach kitty is different, and cats like Gumpert have unique needs. However, there are a few suggestions when it comes to providing the right home for a special-needs cat.
Primarily, it comes down to tailoring your home to their physical, sensory, or medical limitations. Success relies on safety, accessibility, environmental consistency, and veterinary guidance.
Some home modifications that can help cats with physical limitations, like Gumpert, are reducing the need for stairs, using low-entry litter boxes, and adding traction, such as rugs, onto hardwood floors. These changes reduce the risk of falling and make it easier for these felines to access the bathroom, food, and water.
Sensory issues are also important to consider for special-needs cats. Kitties thrive on consistency, and this is even more the case when they have sensory issues. Keeping furniture in a consistent layout, blocking access to stairs or high drops, and using distinct textures can help a blind cat navigate their space, while deaf kitties benefit from the vibrations caused by stomping or visual cues. These changes make the environment easier to navigate for special-needs kitties.
Special-needs cats may also need help with grooming if they have hard-to-reach areas. Consistent brushing, nail trims, and pet-safe wipes on private areas can help cats maintain their fur and paws when it may otherwise pose a challenge for them.
Lastly, a special-needs cat requires consistent checkups with a veterinarian. This way, you can address any issues that arise and prevent further complications for your furry friend.
Caring for a cat with special needs is no simple task, but it certainly is rewarding. Gumpert will one day make a lucky person very happy! Go to Homewardboundnj to learn more about this sweet cat.

The velvet finish gives the bed a soft, elevated look, while the cushioned interior provides a comfortable place for pets to nap, lounge, or curl up after a long day of playing. Its upholstered construction makes it feel more substantial than a standard pillow-style pet bed, so it can work especially well in a living room, bedroom, or home office where your pet likes to stay close by.
This is also the kind of bed that works for pets and people who appreciate a more polished home setup. Instead of hiding the bed in a corner when guests come over, you can leave it out as part of the decor. The orange color can pair beautifully with neutral rugs, cream sofas, warm wood accents, and even darker jewel tones.
At $131.99, this is certainly more of an investment than a basic pet cushion. But for pet owners who care about both comfort and design, it is a fun way to give your furry friend their own little piece of furniture.
Whether you have a dog that loves to stretch out beside the sofa or a cat that prefers a soft, tucked-away place to nap, this velvet pet bed offers a stylish spot to settle in.

Target's Washable Pee Pad Set Is a Game Changer for Puppy Training and Messy Pets
Pet accidents happen, especially when you have a puppy in training, an older dog, a cat with occasional litter-box issues, or a pet recovering from illness. While disposable pee pads can help in a pinch, constantly buying and tossing them can get expensive, create extra waste, and leave your floors feeling less protected than you would like.
That is why reusable options can be such a helpful upgrade for pet parents. A large washable pad provides more coverage than small disposable versions and offers a practical way to protect floors, crates, playpens, furniture and other high-traffic pet areas. Having a backup pad ready to go also makes cleanup a lot less stressful.

Feandrea Washable Pee Pads, $64.28 TargetTarget
Shop It!Target’s Feandrea Washable Pee Pads are an especially useful find for homes with pets. The set includes two oversized gray pads, each measuring about 72 by 72 inches, and is currently on sale for $44.99, down from $64.28. That is a savings of $19.29 or 30 percent off.
The size is one of the biggest selling points. At 72 inches square, these pads are designed to cover a large area, making them a good option for puppy playpens, whelping spaces, large crates, or a section of flooring where your pet spends most of their time. Instead of layering several smaller pads together, one large pad can provide more continuous coverage.
Each pad has a four-layer structure that quickly pulls in liquid, helps prevent leaks, and keeps the top surface drier for your pet. The waterproof design helps protect hardwood, tile, carpet, and other flooring from accidents, while the non-slip backing helps keep the pad from shifting around when pets walk, play, or move across it.
Related: Costco’s New Cooling Pet Mat Is a Must-Have for Summer Travel
The set is also reusable and machine-washable, making it a smart alternative to single-use training pads. Since two pads are included, you can use one while the other is being washed. That is especially useful for puppy training, senior pets with incontinence, or multi-pet households where accidents may happen more often.
Beyond potty training, these pads can be used under food and water bowls, inside a car during travel, beneath a crate, or on furniture where pets like to nap. The unscented pads require no assembly and are suitable for pets of all ages.
At $44.99 for two extra-large pads, this Target deal is worth considering if you want a reusable option that offers serious floor coverage. It is one of those practical pet purchases that can make daily cleanup easier while helping protect the spaces you love.

Little Shih-Tzu Returns From Groomer Looking Just Like a Beloved '80s Movie Character
For dogs like Shih-Tzus who have continuously growing hair, trips to the groomer are a must… but you don’t always get back the same dog you dropped off after their appointment. Most groomers are good at achieving the look you want for your dog, but sometimes, you and your pup will end up a bit surprised.
That was the case for Skye, who went in to her grooming appointment as a Shih-Tzu and came out looking like a character from the popular ’80s movie The NeverEnding Story.
@blondeandtzusMy own little Falkor 😂 sometimes I wonder if Shih Tzus inspired certain characters and cartoons! Because Falkor is definitely Skye’s twin 😂 #shihtzusoftiktok #dog #shihtzu #doggrooming #shihtzulovers
♬ The Way I Like It – Party PupilsBefore Skye returned from the groomer, she had more of a shaggy look. But after her haircut, she had a shorter chop around her face and ears and a shaved body and legs that made her look exactly like Falkor the Luckdragon from The NeverEnding Story.
When the clip plays that puts Skye and Falkor side by side, there’s no mistaking it — these two were clearly separated at birth.
“Sometimes I wonder if Shih-Tzus inspired certain characters and cartoons! Because Falkor is definitely Skye’s twin,” his mom wrote in the caption.
Related: Bossy Shih-Tzu Has Hilarious Way of Making Sure Baby Brother Doesn’t Call the Shots
Falkor Was Everyone’s Favorite ‘Luckdragon’Anyone who loves ’80s movies already knows exactly who Falkor is, but just in case you need a reminder, he is a luckdragon who was voiced by Alan Oppenheimer in the first NeverEnding Story movie. All-knowing and friendly, Falkor was exactly the creature you’d want by your side.
The way that Bastian rode Falkor through the skies isn’t exactly something you can do with a Shih-Tzu (or any dog), but this is a fantasy movie… and that doesn’t make him and Skye look any less alike.
Just watching the clip below, you can see the resemblance perfectly. In fact, I’m willing to bet that Skye has a similar reaction when someone scratches behind her ear just right:
Of course, Falkor was obviously much bigger than Skye (or any Shih-Tzu) could ever hope to be, but that’s for the best. Could you imagine that level of sass in a dragon-sized dog? None of us are prepared for that.
And even though Skye doesn’t quite look like herself right now, being compared to Falkor is a huge compliment. It could be worse!

Boston Terrier ‘On a Diet’ Picks the Carrots Right Out of Her Food
Boston Terriers are one of the most difficult breeds ever, just in general. They don’t want to listen. They just want to eat and sleep, and if you ask them to do anything else, good luck! I would know. I have three.
Recently, one woman’s Boston Terrier needed to go on a diet… And it did not go very well. They decided to add some carrots in to help with volume without adding too many calories, and let’s just say, she saw right through that:
@laura05211983#bostonterrier #bostonterrier #pickyeater
♬ original sound – funny dog tiktokAccording to Laura Ann, her Boston Terrier, Mazie, recently got a diagnosis from the vet that lots of Boston Terrier parents are familiar with: Fat. It’s just a little easier for these pups to pack on the pounds, and when it’s time to shed them, it can be difficult.
Mazie’s mom was advised to cute her food intake, and if Mazie noticed, then she was advised to add carrots for a low-calorie, high-volume option. The problem quickly became that Mazie also noticed and was personally offended by the carrots.
Related: Rescue Boston Terrier ‘Falling in Love’ With Mandarin Oranges Is a Real Head-Scratcher
Her mom not only has one Boston Terrier; there are two, and to make matters worse, they’re both girls! Carrots simply won’t work, but thanks to Mazie’s antics blowing up on TikTok, Laura Ann saw a suggestion for green beans that worked much better:
@laura05211983#bostonterrier #pickyeater #cuteanimals
♬ original sound – managedbyRaenaSee, mine all love carrots, but they hate green beans! Cucumbers are great too, but only when they’re really crunchy. These pups are very picky eaters!
How to Help Dogs Lose WeightIf your dog ever receives the dreaded diagnosis of Fat from your vet, it’s natural for you to start freaking out immediately, but the truth is, it’s not that hard to fix. You just have to stick to your plan!
VladimirCizmar / 500px / Getty Images
Overweight dogs typically lose weight mostly through dietary changes rather than exercise: while making sure they play and walk enough is important, you don’t want to overexert them. Instead, you should:
- Stop free-feeding and stick to specific, portioned mealtimes.
- Measure their portions with a scale rather than a measuring cup.
- Swap their regular treats for lower-calorie options like fruit, vegetables, or even small pieces of lean meat.
If your dog still seems hungry after meals, that’s normal, but you can add volume using low-calorie foods like carrots, cucumbers, or green beans. As long as your dog lets you, anyway… Some sniff them right out!

Anthropologie's Boozy Pet Bowl Makes Your Dog's Dinner Setup Look Like Happy Hour
Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Pet parents know that their animals are part of the family, so it only makes sense to give them a space that feels just as considered as the rest of the home. From cozy beds and stylish collars to treats stored in matching jars, pet accessories have become an easy way to blend everyday function with a little bit of personality.
Of course, the items you use every day deserve to look good, too. Food and water bowls are usually placed out in the kitchen, mudroom, or living room, where they become a permanent part of the decor. Instead of settling for a plain stainless-steel bowl or basic plastic dish, choosing one with an elevated design can make your pet’s feeding area feel more intentional.

Cats Who Have Their Own Tiny NYC Apartment Clearly 'Need a Sex and the City Spinoff'
Rent in New York City is crazy expensive. It can be nearly impossible to find an affordable apartment lately. Luckily for two cats, they were able to get their own tiny apartment, rent free.
Two cats named Lox and Lottie are gaining attention on TikTok for showing off their swanky-but-small apartment. This place has everything, from grooming services to in-house entertainment. It’s impossible to resist.
@loxandlottieNYC cat commute 🪟🐈🐈⬛ #windowcats #nyccats #cattic #citycat
♬ Starman (2012 Remaster) – David BowieWhat a cute, little apartment these kitties have! In the space above a door, Lox and Lottie’s parents cut out part of the wall and built a little nook. Then, they decorated it with comfy cat beds, a lamp, a tiny portrait of the cats, and a little cubby for the cats to lay in. Their apartment is seriously impressive!
People in the comments are loving this set up and agree that these cats need their own television show such as one person who said, “Need a ‘Sex and the City’ spin off but it’s cats and the city.”
Others are making lighthearted jokes about the easy life Lox and Lottie lead. A viewer commented, “They need little meowtinis after such long hard days.” Another person said, “A hard job, but someone’s gotta do it.”
These two cats are living the good like with their very own miniature apartment and a nonexistent commute. They have everyone wanting to build a mini apartment of their own!
How to Create a Cat ApartmentCreating a cat apartment can be as easy or as complicated as you make it. Lox and Lottie’s parents already had a storage space above their door that they repurposed into the cat apartment, but any cozy space will do, such as sturdy cardboard box or cubby under the stairs. Ensure there are no hazards in the space like sharp edges or nails that could injure your furry friend.
To guarantee the cozy factor is off the charts, you’ll want to make sure there are soft spaces to lay. While Lox and Lottie’s parents used scratching board to cover the floor, others may elect to lay down padding or put some blankets and cat beds in the nook. If you have the space, it’s a good idea to put additional cat objects in as well. A scratching post or a small cat tree gives your felines additional things to do besides sleep in their mini apartments.

Of course, you need to decorate. Small pieces of cat-related art work for the walls is one of the ways Lox and Lottie’s parents decorated. Others may put a cat statue in the apartment. Try to find small decorations that match their look and personality.
In order to encourage your cat to use their new apartment, sprinkle some cat nip around the space. If your feline friend is food motivated, you could use some treats to lure them in or give them food and water in the nook to motivate them to explore.

Gentle Big Brother Beau Gives His Favorite Ball to His Double-Amputee Sister
I don’t know what it is about dogs sharing toys, but it gets me every single time. Maybe it’s because most dogs guard their favorite tennis ball like it’s made of solid gold. So when one willingly gives it to another dog, especially one they love, it’s enough to make me tear up.
That’s exactly what happens in this sweet video featuring Beau and his little sister Rupert. Beau happily drops his favorite red ball for Rupert, who runs toward him on her front paws with the biggest determination you’ve ever seen. It’s one of those clips that reminds you dogs don’t care if someone looks a little different—they just care that they’re family.
@mikebradshaw55 ♬ original sound – mikebradshaw55The touching video comes from Rupert’s family at Mikebradshaw55, who have shared her remarkable journey from rescue puppy to thriving, happy dog.
Rupert was born with an incredibly rare congenital condition that affected her front legs. According to her family’s GoFundMe page, she was once described as a “failure to thrive” and was at risk of being euthanized because of her disability. After being rescued, she eventually found the family who would foster, and later adopt, her.
Since this video was filmed, Rupert has undergone surgery to remove both of her front legs.
Related: This Wobbly Shelter Cat Was Free, and Her Family Got the Absolute Deal of a Lifetime
Despite everything she’s been through, her family says Rupert approaches life with endless enthusiasm. She loves meeting new people, learned to climb stairs a few at a time and refuses to let her unique body slow her down.
You can absolutely see that spirit in this clip.
She charges toward Beau with one goal in mind:
That red ball.
And Beau…
He simply lets her have it.
If that doesn’t melt your heart a little, I don’t know what will.
The comments were filled with love for both dogs.
“This is so heartwarming.”
“Awww, he loves her so much!”
Another person praised Rupert’s family, writing, “You are such a superhero for loving her.”
One viewer asked a question I hadn’t even considered:
“I love her spirit! I wonder if Bo is freaked out at all by her difference? He must recognize it?”
Beau’s dog dad had the funniest answer.
“He actually kinda was at first 😅 used to hop up on the couch when she would come at him cause she couldn’t get him there 😂 Now he runs up the stairs when he doesn’t want her to take his ball.”
That might be my favorite update of all.
Apparently Beau has gone from, “Who is this strange little creature?” to, “I know exactly how to protect my toys from my tiny sister.”
That’s sibling behavior if I’ve ever seen it.
Just check out sweet Rupert living her best life! @mikebradshaw55She so excited to be out and playing! Slow down the jump at the 3 second mark and tell me she’s not having fun❤️❤️
♬ original sound – mikebradshaw55According to her family’s GoFundMe page, Rupert’s medical journey has been unlike anything her veterinary specialists had encountered before. Her orthopedic surgeon, who has decades of experience and even teaches veterinary students, reportedly said he’d never seen another case quite like hers.
Even so, Rupert has never acted like she’s supposed to sit on the sidelines. Her family describes her as active, affectionate, house-trained and determined to experience everything life has to offer.
Watching her confidently race toward Beau makes that impossible to miss.
She isn’t asking for sympathy.
She just wants the ball.
And luckily for her…
She has the best big brother around.

Fluffy Ragdoll Cat Gives Birth to a Litter of Baby Marshmallows
Ragdoll cats grow up to look like massive, fluffy marshmallows. There’s nothing more magical to me than an adult Ragdoll cat… Except, maybe, a Ragdoll kitten. If adults are jumbo marshmallows, then their kittens are mini ones!
That theory was proven true when a Ragdoll cat who had reached full jumbo marshmallow status gave birth to a litter of kittens. As I suspected, they turned out to be the cutest mini marshmallows ever:
@classyragdollsI love seeing their color develop! #growing #kitten #baby
♬ original sound – freya wilmot ꫂ ၴႅၴClassy Ragdolls is a cattery that specializes in these marshmallows… I mean, cats. They’re Texas-based, and looking at their cats, it appears that they focus on bi-color Ragdolls: you can tell because of the inverted Vs on their faces.
The kittens in this video are days old, if that, so you can’t actually see much of their true coloring yet. They come out fully un-toasted, but as time goes on, they get more color. Just like roasting a marshmallow! A few of them have some markings starting to show already, too.
Related: Ragdoll Cat ‘Goes Full Floppy’ While Mom Is Carrying Him — Just Like a Real Ragdoll
In that video, they were so young, and they’re already looking different. They’ve started to “puff up” and move around, and they’re really looking cuter than ever:
@classyragdollsThe kittens are staying to play and try crawling out of their birthing box! #ragdollkitten #kitten #growingup
♬ suono originale – randommThis next phase of kittenhood is one of my favorites: they’re starting to get into everything they can. They’re bumbling around, their coats are super fluffy, and they’re finally learning how to play!
How Long Until Kittens’ Adult Coats Come In?Although you can see some markings on a couple of the kittens, for the most part, they’re blank slates. In just a few days, their ears had already darkened!
Ragdoll cats don’t reach full-grown until they’re about 3 or 4 years old. The first year and a half or so mostly focuses on actual physical growth, though you’ll notice their coat starting to darken during that time. The “late stage” of growth includes:
- Their full adult coat.
- Sharpening their features.
- Gaining muscle mass.
By about a year and a half, your cat’s general pattern should be visible. It just darkens over time. Until then, enjoy your baby marshmallows!

Sam’s Club's Stylish Cedar Dog Kennel Looks Just Like a Backyard Retreat
Giving your dog a comfortable outdoor space can make backyard time feel safer and more enjoyable for everyone. Whether your pet loves fresh air, needs a secure place to rest while you garden, or simply enjoys watching the neighborhood from a shaded spot, a dedicated outdoor shelter can be a worthwhile addition to the yard.
Of course, a basic wire crate or small plastic doghouse does not always offer the comfort, coverage, or convenience pet parents need. Larger outdoor setups need to provide room to move, protection from changing weather, and easy access for feeding and cleanup. The best options also look good enough to complement your backyard rather than take away from it.

Backyard Discovery 7-by-5-Foot Cedar Wood Dog Kennel with Feeding Door, $1,999 at Sam’s ClubSams Club
Shop It!Sam’s Club is currently selling the Backyard Discovery 7-by-5-Foot Cedar Wood Dog Kennel with Feeding Door for $1,999. It is built as a spacious outdoor retreat, giving dogs room to roam and relax while helping keep them protected from the elements and outdoor critters.
The kennel is constructed from 100% cedar wood and topped with a 29-gauge galvanized steel roof. Cedar is naturally resistant to decay, while the roof provides full overhead coverage for shade and weather protection. Backyard Discovery says the structure has been Pro-Tect tested to withstand up to 2,600 pounds of snow load, up to 30 inches and winds up to 100 mph when properly anchored.
One of the most useful features is the easy access feeding door, which allows you to refill food and water bowls from outside the enclosure. Inside, there is a built-in tray sized for two 9-inch bowls, helping keep your dog’s meal area organized. The kennel also includes a storage compartment for keeping toys, treats, bedding and supplies nearby.
Related: Target’s New Set of Paws-itively Adorable Dog Toys Will Keep Pups Busy for Hours
The design includes a back door with a viewing window, which makes it easier to check on your pet and clean the space. It also has a customizable gate that can be installed in seven different positions, giving you more flexibility depending on your patio, deck, or yard layout.
At $1,999, this is definitely a bigger pet purchase. But for households with adequate outdoor space and a dog that enjoys supervised time outside, it offers far more than a standard kennel. Sam’s Club lists the item with free freight shipping for eligible Plus members and says it can be returned or replaced anytime.
Before purchasing, make sure the 7-by-5-foot footprint suits your space and consider your individual dog’s breed, size, activity level, and tolerance for heat or cold. An outdoor kennel should provide shelter, not replace regular supervision, walks, interaction, or indoor care.
