Tiny Orange Kitten Has the Cutest Reaction to His Own Chubby Tummy

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 7:55pm

One of life's greatest gifts is watching the way our pets navigate the world around them. They're filled with an adorable curiosity as they explore and learn how everything works, including their own bodies. Recently, one sweet Orange Kitten realized he has the world's cutest round belly, and his reaction will melt your heart!

@mama_a205

Little strange. Little odd. Little rag-a-muffin that I LOVE SO MUCH!!!💕 Ah! I just want to bite him! 😆#catsoftiktok #cattok #buffybaby

♬ Curious Little Creatures - BlueWhaleMusic

Buffy Baby's reaction to his chubby tummy is the epitome of swoon-worthy content! Between the little fella standing on his hind legs, the confused discovery of his belly, and swiping at himself, this Orange Kitten is giving short king energy.

Though there isn't much information about how old Buffy Baby is, where he came from, and his plans for the future, it looks like he's around 8 to 10 weeks old, and he's only just joined the family a few days ago. I don't know how his mom gets any work done when this cutie-pie is around.

Many fans rushed to the comments section to joke about the tax papers beneath Buffy Baby's feet, with one saying, "I draw the line at quadratic equations." Based on the level of confusion, I think the funny kitty agrees!

If one video of the precious kitty isn't enough (same), you're in luck.

Watching a kitten explore and discover the world around them is a great reminder to stop and smell the proverbial roses. Navigating a big world isn't easy for a little guy or gal, but through imitating Mom, instincts, and independent exploration, a kitten's learning happens in phases:

  • Kittens are born blind and deaf, but in weeks 1 to 2, they use scent to stay close to their littermates and Mom for warmth and comfort.
  • In weeks 3 to 4, their eyes and ears open, and they take their first adorable steps (usually toppling over a few times!). At the start of this exploration phase, they'll learn how to avoid obstacles and how to place their paws. Their full sense of smell also comes in at the end of week 4.
  • By weeks 5 to 8, the once-helpless kitties get a lot more curious and fun! Their senses are in full swing, giving them room to learn spatial awareness and the basics of hunting. Playing with littermates, climbing, and running are their new normal, and they couldn't be cuter!

Buffy Baby may have only just realized he's just a little guy with a chubby tummy, but we're 100000% here for every second of it!

Cocker Spaniel With Special 'Punk Rock' Hairdo Is 'One Spiked Collar Away From Joining a Band'

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 7:20pm

Most dogs come home from surgery with a cone, a sleepy face, and a strong desire to be left alone.

Bruno came home with a new era.

In the video, the English Cocker Spaniel has half of his head shaved after ear surgery, and the result is not giving “medical recovery” as much as it is giving “lead singer of a garage band who refuses to explain the lyrics.”

@alba.thecocker

English Cocker Spaniel ear surgery hits different when the personality stays intact 🤍 After weeks of healing, Bruno's shaved head is just part of his story now. The attitude? Still there. #englishcockerspaniel #cockerspaniel #dogearsurgery #pethealth #dogsoftiktok

♬ original sound - ALBA

The video caption jokes that once half the head was shaved, punk rock simply became the whole personality. That feels fair. Some dogs would look embarrassed. Some would look confused. Bruno looks like this was a deliberate rebrand.

The post caption explains that the ear surgery was serious, but Bruno’s personality stayed very much intact. After weeks of healing, that shaved patch has become part of the story. The attitude never left.

That's the part that makes the whole thing so good. Yes, the mohawk is funny. Yes, the uneven little rock star look is impossible not to notice. But underneath the laugh is a pup who went through something difficult and still looks ready to strut through the living room like the opening act starts in 5 minutes.

The pet parent shared in the comments that Bruno had TECA surgery after a polyp in the middle ear damaged the eardrum and caused chronic infection. So this wasn't just a quirky haircut from the groomer. This was a medical chapter with a lot behind it.

Still, dogs have a way of turning recovery into personality.

One commenter renamed the whole breed "English Rocker Spaniel," and honestly, it may need to be submitted somewhere officially. Cocker Spaniel is lovely. English Cocker Spaniel is classic. English Rocker Spaniel, though? That belongs on a tour poster.

Bruno really is one spiked collar away from joining a band and shopping at Hot Topic.

It's easy to laugh at the punk haircut, but it's also sweet in the way that pet people understand. When your dog goes through surgery, every sign of normal personality feels huge. A little sass. A familiar look. A wag. That same attitude showing up again when you need it most.

Bruno's shaved head may be part of the healing process, but the confidence is all original.

Bruno just happened to heal with stage presence included.

What is TECA Surgery?

TECA stands for "total ear canal ablation." It’s a surgery that removes the diseased ear canal, often for pups dealing with severe, painful, long-term ear problems that haven’t improved with other treatments. In many cases, it may be paired with work on the middle ear area, depending on what the veterinarian finds.

VCA Animal Hospitals explains that TECA-BO can be considered when the ear canal is badly diseased, negatively affecting the dog's quality of life.

If your dog has chronic ear trouble, keep an eye out for:

  • Repeated infections that keep coming back after treatment.
  • Head shaking, scratching, or pain around the ears.
  • Discharge or odor that doesn’t clear up.
  • Changes in hearing or balance that need a vet’s attention.

Surgery can sound scary, but for some dogs, treating the painful source of chronic ear disease can bring real relief.

Bruno's haircut may say punk rock, but the healing says brave widdle legend.

Buyers rate these elegant curtains 4.6 out of 5 stars on JCPenney's website. Buyers say these look especially beautiful when the sun is streaming through them.

You are outside with your dog, the sun is out, you are getting ready for a pool day, and everything seems perfect. Then, you realize you've made 15 trips back inside for drinks, snacks, toys, towels and everything else.

And somewhere between the third and fourth trip, your relaxing afternoon is no longer relaxing. That is the backyard chaos that happens when you do not have the right set of equipment.

Winado 80-Quart Outdoor Rolling Cooler Cart, $182.99 at Wayfair

The Winado 80-Quart Outdoor Rolling Cooler Cart at Wayfair was designed to solve the backyard chaos many pet parents experience.

While it was not designed for pet parents per se, it is more than useful. Currently on sale, the 80-quart can hold beverages cold for up to 48 hours, rolls across patio surfaces on four wheels, and locks in place with two of them. It's also available in several colors, including black, white, dark gray, mint green, pink and white-and-red.

The setup is simple: Drinks, fruit and snacks go in the cooled top. Everything the dog needs for a yard or pool day goes on the bottom shelf, like floating toys, a plush or two, a collapsible water bowl, paw wipes and a small towel for drying off after a swim.

Everything rolls with the cart, so you don't need to make several trips to grab items from inside the house. And thanks to its generous capacity, the cooler cart can hold a few frozen dog treats alongside the ice while also serving as a central station for the entire outdoor setup.

What Real Buyers Are Saying

People who've already added this type of outdoor cooler to their setup tend to prioritize usability over features.

One reviewer said, "Love this rolling cooler! The color is so pretty. Moves around very easily. Has a lot of room inside!"

Another talked about some more features he would love to see, but overall, he was satisfied, saying, "Very nice cooler. I wish it had an inside divider to separate beverages and also to allow use of just half the cooler if you don't need to chill a large amount of beverages since it is large. I saw a different cooler with that option after purchasing this one."

And then one highlighted the durability, saying, "Item as described online very sturdy going to be a great match for patio during summer time i do recommend with great price."

Looking at the reviews, we can say this highly functional item solves a real backyard problem. And if you want to spend your afternoons with your furry friend by the pool or in the backyard, this cooler will come in handy.

More Than Drinks and Ice

Not every item was designed with pet parents in mind, but that doesn't mean you cannot repurpose an outdoor item.

For example, the Winado 80-Quart Outdoor Rolling Cooler Cart can be used to store dog-safe ice packs during heat waves. The cart becomes an area for grooming supplies after swimming or for toys. Think of it as a place where the dog's stuff lives.

At the current price, it is a practical pick for pet parents on pool days with the dogs.

Moose and Murphy have a bond so deep that the lovable kitty never wants to let go of his pup buddy, and who can blame him? Murphy's so cuddly soft, and he seems to enjoy all the attention!

This cute pair has an epic best friendship tale for the record books. As Mom replied in the comments of another clip, their affection for each other is so strong because they grew up together.

From the time they were wee little lads, the besties immediately took to one another, each teaching how to "cat" and how to "dog." Mostly, though, the Mini Dachshund can be found doing all the funny cat things, like loafing or relaxing in the cat tree!

How To Help Cats and Dogs Become Friends

Bonds like Murphy and Moose's don't happen every day, but there are a few things pet parents can do to help cats and dogs live together peacefully.

The introduction period is crucial, which begins by keeping them separated for the first few days (with all their things) to help them get used to each other. Follow that with scent-swapping items, feeding on opposite sides of the door, and short, supervised, and leashed first face-to-face interactions.

Always reward after positive experiences, and be sure the cat has a place up high they can escape to if they get scared. The process can take a few weeks, but it goes a long way in building the foundation for a future friendship.

Moose may never let Murphy go, and that's OK. How lovely it is to know our pets are capable of loving each other so much!

Precious Little Pekingese Puppy Looks Like a Furry Potato

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 10:10am

Certain dog breeds have extra fluffy, halo-like coats. Bernese Mountain Dogs, Great Pyrenees, and Pomeranians are basically giant pouf balls, boasting layers upon layers of feathery fur. The lush look is definitely an attention-grabber and makes these precious pooches impossible to resist.

Pigi the Pekingese is one of those puppies that will make you do a double take with that luxurious plume of hair.

In the TikTok from @pigi.pickles, the floofy fur baby was cozy on the couch and just "grooving, moving, and misbehaving," according to the caption. Pigi's round and glossy eyes looked like marbles that were adorably too big for her face.

The pompadour-ish hair that stood on her head flowed down into a majestic mane around her neck. Pigi's dark face was in sharp contrast to her champagne-colored fur, adding to her eye-catching appearance.

The pretty puppy's fur surrounded her body like a billowy cloud, spilling over onto her fluffy paws. Pigi resembled a plush Pekingese that was part teddy bear and completely irresistible.

Followers fell in love with Pigi's voluminous coat and compared her to everything from a popular vegetable to a lint ball:

  • "In my 50 years on this planet, I have never seen anything so cute and adorable," one raved.
  • "It’s a hairy potato with eyes!" another declared.
  • "Oh my what an adorable little ball of fluff on legs!!" a follower remarked.
  • "That is a modestly-sized dust bunny," someone noted.
  • "That's not even a dog anymore — that's a pom pom," a fan pointed out.
How Big Do Pekingese Dogs Get?

This lion-like dog breed is small in stature yet big in personality. Pekingese stand at approximately 6 to 9 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 7 to 14 pounds at adulthood. Like Pigi, some are even smaller and known as a "sleeve" Pekingese.

Related: Senior Rescue Pekingese Acts 'Passive Aggressively' Hoping to Score Another Breakfast

These loving and loyal dogs need regular brushing to keep their coats healthy and avoid matting. They have low to moderate energy levels and require basic exercise, like daily walks. Since the Pekingese is a brachycephalic breed, pet parents should avoid taking them out in extremely hot weather and keep activity to a minimum when temps are high.

Pigi also showed the confidence and slight sense of mischief a Pekingese possesses, so these pups will keep you on your toes.

Chewy's 'Amazing' Lighthouse-Shaped Bird Feeder Is Just $18

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 10:01am

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you've been on the hunt for a cute bird feeder to add to your front or back yard this summer, then check out Chewy's sale on a highly rated style. The North States Village Collection Lighthouse Bird Feeder is just $18 when it normally costs $33 at Chewy. That's nearly 50% off!

This cute bird feeder holds a massive amount of bird seed — up to eight pounds! Just lift off the roof to easily refill it. (The lighthouse windows let you peek in to see the seed level and when it needs to be refilled.) Plus, the feeder is set on top of an extra large tray so more birds can perch on it and feast away.

The feeder works with several mounting options. You can hang it from a tree or hook by the looped squirrel-proof cable that's included. Or for extra stability, you can mount it to a pole. (North States makes a six-foot aluminum pole that works great with it, but is sold separately.)

The feeder is also designed to be easy to clean with a removable seed tray at the bottom. Just slide and lift it. And it's made from durable, molded plastic that holds up to all different types of weather.

The feeder measure 14.5 inches tall by 10.25 inches wide and 9.5 inches deep.

Why Buyers Love This Feeder

Buyers love this feeder and rate it 4.7 out of 5 stars overall on Chewy's website with more than 200 reviews. Yes, that means 83% of people gave it a perfect rating!

Reviewers say it attracts many different species of birds. They do recommend using a squirrel baffle if you're hanging it from a pole (or mounting it to a pole), so the squirrels can't shimmy up and steal the seed from your birds.

Check out some other reviews:

  • "We are very happy with this feeder... We have had a lot of success attracting cardinals and blue jays in just this first week. We are very happy with the feeder."
  • "These bird feeders are absolutely amazing. They allow both small birds and largish (dove-size) birds to eat off the plate / tray easily, with a lot less seeds falling to the ground."
  • "This is a VERY big bird feeder. I love it! It holds a lot of bird seed."

Chewy offers free one to three day deliveries for first-time orders of more than $35, along with free 365 day returns.

Newborn Highland Calf Needs a Minute, but His Mom Cow Clearly Does Not

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 9:55am

Newborns are supposed to get a little grace. They just arrived on Earth. Their little legs are still downloading. Their bodies are trying to figure out basic features like balance, direction, and not folding in half.

Loona, the Highland Cow, doesn't appear interested in that explanation.

View this post on Instagram

In this sweet, funny video, her newborn calf is trying to stand for the first time, which is a serious job when you have four long legs, zero experience, and a mother who seems to believe you should already be handling yourself like a professional.

The newborn tries. Then he wobbles. Then he drops back down.

Loona immediately has notes.

The post caption says this is one of those farm moments worth revisiting, and it's easy to see why. Loona has apparently never been shy about speaking her mind, and motherhood didn't soften that particular trait. Every time her calf takes too long, she lets him hear about it.

You can almost hear the baby saying, "I just got here!"

Loona looks at him. She fusses. She turns toward the human like she can't believe she's been left to manage this unassembled baby cow alone. One comment described the look perfectly, joking that Loona keeps glancing over like she needs immediate assistance with this child, please and thank you.

To me, that is the funniest part. She's not just upset with her calf. She seems mildly disappointed in everyone involved.

The calf, to his credit, is doing his best. Standing up as a newborn is a whole-body puzzle. Nothing bends the way it should yet. The floor is a brand-new platform (to him). Gravity is rude. Meanwhile, Mom is screaming at him like a barnyard life coach with zero chill.

If you've ever watched a new parent get overwhelmed in the first 5 minutes, Loona's energy must feel familiar. Loving? Absolutely. Patient? Currently unavailable.

Still, under the humor, there's something tender happening here. She wants him up. She wants him safe, nursing, and strong. Her delivery may be intense, but there's concern, and it's real.

Every farm person probably knows a Loona. Be honest: Would you help the baby first or laugh at him for a second?

The calf needs time. Loona needs results. The humans are being silently summoned for backup. Motherhood is beautiful. And also, apparently, very loud.

When Should a Newborn Calf Stand Up?

Newborn calves usually try to stand soon after birth, but some do need more time, especially if the birth was hard or the calf is weak. If you're watching a calf struggle, keep calm, watch closely, and be ready to help if they're not making progress.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Beef Extension shares that healthy calves should ideally stand and nurse within the first couple of hours, because early colostrum is so important.

A few smart steps:

  • Give the calf a little time. Wobbling, slipping, and trying again can be normal at first.
  • Watch for real weakness. If the calf can’t make progress, seems dull, or gives up, the baby may need help.
  • Make sure nursing happens. A calf needs colostrum early for energy and immune support.
  • Call a vet or an experienced farmer if unsure. Fast help matters when a newborn isn’t thriving.

Loona may have rushed the process, but she knew one thing for sure: This baby needed to get moving.

Goldendoodle Invents a Hilarious New Sport While on a Walk

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 8:55am

There's no doubt that taking your dog for a walk is an easy way to strengthen the bond you share. But if you have a pup with a plan, it can turn into pure chaos! This describes one comedic Goldendoodle, who recently decided his walk with Mom wasn't nearly exciting enough, so he did what any determined dog might do and took matters into his own paws!

@jessicaozzie0

Replying to @🖤 Episode 14: Darrell Is Moving In With Marshall. 🤷‍♀️. Y’all keep saying he hates me. I went to pick him up and he refused to come home. 😂#darrell #Darrellthedoodle #dogsoftiktok #whywontdarrellgetup

♬ original sound - Jessica Ozzie

In the recent clip, Darrell, the Goldendoodle, didn't want an ordinary walk with dog mom, Jessica. He's been there, done that a million times. To shake things up, the funny pup invented a new sport that looks eerily similar to an adorable tantrum.

When Jessica tries to get Darrell to move, he plants his weight down to say, "I'm not going anywhere," and sticks to it while she attempts to pull him along. By the happy grin on his face, he's pretty proud of himself and would 13/10 times do it again!

It may have something to do with the house's resident Corgi, Marshall, who has a cool cameo at the end. Darrell just wanted to play (even if Marshall wanted the Doodle off his lawn)!

Related: Goldendoodle's Birthday Surprise Ends With the Sweetest 'Thank You'

It's not the first or last time Darrell's pulled this trick. It's kind of his thing, and his mass of fans are here for whatever he does next. By the looks of it, this is one pooch who makes the rules (sorry, Mom)!

In a new video proving the Goldendoodle does whatever he wants, Mom gets quite the workout when he refuses to get off the floor and go. Now this is dedication to the bit:

@jessicaozzie0

Just Darrell being a ass at Rick Hendricks while I’m literally trying not to show mine! Smh 🤷‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 #whywontdarrellgetup #darrell #dog #dogsoftiktok #Darrellthedoodle

♬ original sound - Jessica Ozzie Why Dogs Refuse To Move on Walks

There are a few reasons dogs take a firm stance about leaving a spot while on a walk. Once you discount more serious factors, like pain, fear, frustration, or anxiety, it comes down to one thing: it gets them attention!

Maybe Mom bribed him once or twice, and he learned how to get more treats, but he also might not want the fun time to end. Walks are the *chef's kiss* for pups, so why ever go home? Dogs are smart, and they learn things fast.

If Darrell threw himself onto the ground and refused to walk one time—and it got a funny reaction from Mom—he's going to do it as often as he wants (and he's so cute doing it)!

Long-Haired German Shepherd Puppy Is So Excited for Her First Swim, She Can Hardly Stand It

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 8:05am

I have always had a soft spot for German Shepherds. My sister rescues them, so I've spent enough time around the breed to know they're incredibly smart, endlessly loyal, and usually ready to throw themselves into any adventure with both paws. Watching a puppy experience something exciting for the very first time is one of those simple joys that never gets old.

That's exactly why little Ember had me grinning from ear to ear. Instead of getting nervous about the water, this fluffy long-haired German Shepherd puppy practically bounces toward it, looking like she can barely contain herself. If happiness had four paws and oversized puppy ears, it would probably look a lot like Ember.

The clip shows little Ember on a leash as she eagerly approaches the shoreline, practically hopping with excitement before splashing into the water.

Every few steps she seems even more thrilled than the last.

It's impossible not to smile watching her discover that swimming might just be her new favorite activity.

One viewer summed it up perfectly:

  • "Looks like Ember is enjoying the water."

As if one adorable beach adventure wasn't enough, Ember's pet parents shared another clip for anyone who couldn't get enough of her excitement.

The second caption reads:

"As it's been too hot to walk lately, mum and dad took me for a late night swim instead."

Honestly, I don't blame them.

A cool evening swim sounds a whole lot more enjoyable than a hot afternoon walk — for both humans and dogs.

Swimming can be wonderful exercise and enrichment for many dogs, but it's important to introduce puppies to water slowly and let them build confidence at their own pace. Never force a puppy into the water if they're hesitant.

Whenever possible, choose calm, shallow water and supervise your dog the entire time. A properly fitted canine life jacket can provide extra safety, especially for young puppies or dogs who are still learning to swim.

After swimming, rinse your pup off to remove salt, chlorine, or lake water from their coat, and be sure they have plenty of fresh drinking water available.

If Ember's first beach trip is any indication she's going to be asking for "late night swim" privileges all summer long.

French Bulldog’s Calming Nail Trim Secret? Turning Into a Bongo Drum to Pitbull’s ‘Fireball’

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 7:15am

If you have a dog who hates getting their nails trimmed, you’ve probably tried every trick in the book to make the process easier. My two Rescue Dogs came to me a little older, which means I missed the puppy stage when nail clipping can become part of the routine. As a result, pedicure day is still a challenge in our house.

French Bulldog Kane, however, has a very different attitude. As long as Pitbull’s “Fireball” is playing and he’s being gently patted like a set of bongos, he’s perfectly content to sit through a nail trim.

It’s one of the funniest and most unexpectedly effective grooming hacks I’ve ever seen, and you can watch it in this June 25 Instagram from @theupperhound:

View this post on Instagram French Bulldog Kane Turns Into a Bongo Drum for Nail Trims

Kane is totally relaxed while team members of The Upper Hound grooming team tap along to “Fireball” as they trim his nails. Rather than looking stressed or anxious, the Frenchie appears completely at ease, as if he’s enjoying his own personal spa soundtrack and massage.

The Upper Hound is a dog grooming business based in Fleet, Hampshire, UK, where the team draws on over 20 years of combined grooming experience. According to The Upper Hound, Kane’s parents even play the jam for him at home so he can have a little dance party.

Many people wanted to know how such a unique routine got started.

“I need the full backstory. How did you discover this?” asked one commenter.

The Upper Hound replied, “We often use tapping to calm the dogs, but one of our team decided to put music on at the same time, and it was Pitbull, and it’s stuck from then on and worked wonders.”

Pet parents also chimed in with their thoughts.

“As a puppy, Ebbe would only stop trying to bite her way out of her car harness if I played Fergie. I guess every dog has a favorite artist lol,” shared another viewer.

Another commenter summed it up perfectly: “He likes his hype music just like any of us. It’s like a walk-out song for baseball.”

And one viewer couldn’t resist joking, “Going to request that at my next manicure.”

Whether it’s treats, toys, or apparently a little Pitbull, every dog seems to have something that helps them feel more comfortable. For Kane, the secret to stress-free nail trims just happens to come with a great beat.

Street Dog's 'Before' Rescue and 'After' Adoption Transformation Will Have You Crying Happy Tears

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 7:10am

Niall Harbison sees a lot of heartbreak with the street dogs he tends to through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. Yet with the help of his dedicated team, he works miracles with these canines and often posts their stunning transformations on his social media platforms.

Sienna is a sweet brown dog who is one of those amazing success stories and now living her best life with a forever family.

View this post on Instagram

The Instagram from @wearehappydoggo reveals Sienna's amazing journey from her rescue to her new life at her home in Wales. When she first arrived at Happy Doggo last November, Sienna cowered in the corner due to her poor health and the trauma she experienced.

The precious pooch had been used for breeding and suffered from extensive skin infections and mange, which left her with no fur. Sienna was afraid of human touch as a result of the abuse she endured.

Harbison and his team gave her the medical care she desperately needed and showered her with love and affection. Sienna started to heal and soon began to let her guard down. She even grew her beautiful golden and black fur back to a lush, shiny coat.

Sienna's New Home

The "after" segment of the video featured Sienna in wonderful health as she strolled through the beautiful countryside of Wales with her new family members. She joyfully played with her dad on the beach, then relaxed in front of the TV in her cozy living room. The fluffy fur baby is clearly loved by her forever family and feels completely at home.

"When Sienna first arrived, she was terrified and completely broken, inside and out," the caption shared. "But after lots of love and patience, she became a gorgeous, happy girl who is now exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Wales."

The story concluded with well-wishes for the Happy Doggo alum, with Sienna contentedly overlooking some beautiful countryside scenery.

"Proof that love and a second chance can completely change a life — Happy forever after, sweet girl!" the caption raved.

Tiny Squirrel Gets Caught in a Downpour and Looks Like a Drenched Little Human

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 7:00am

We've all been caught in an unexpected rainstorm without an umbrella, and the results can be disastrous. I remember heading to a job interview years ago, long before smartphones and weather apps warned us what was coming, when a storm rolled in out of nowhere. By the time I ran from my car to the office, I was so soaked I looked like I'd just climbed out of a swimming pool... fully clothed!

Amy Lang, who lives in Michigan, recently spotted a tiny baby squirrel taking shelter during a summer downpour, looking completely unsure of what to do next. His soggy predicament has the internet laughing because, after getting drenched, he looked less like the fluffy squirrels we're used to seeing and more like a tiny exhausted human who'd just walked to a job interview like I did in the rain. The hilariously relatable moment has viewers unable to stop watching, and once you see his adorably pitiful little face, it's easy to understand why.

Amy shared in the caption, "People keep saying he was reaching a hand out to me but he was just stretching his little paw before hiding under a car."

Viewers left more than 3,000 comments, with many comparing the baby squirrel's appearance to a baby-bottle brush. @Kristen got nearly 40,000 likes when she shared, "I called for help. Twice," and Amy replied, "Lmao in Joe Exotic's voice lol!"

@The Birbs got 27,000 likes when they said what the little guy must've been thinking: "Oh my goodness his li'l face! 'What the f was THAT?!'"

How Squirrels Stay Safe During Heavy Rain

According to A-Z Animals, squirrels don't usually enjoy getting soaked, although this little one may have been too young to know what to do. Before a storm arrives, squirrels typically seek shelter in their nests, tree cavities, or other protected spaces where they can stay dry.

If they're caught in a sudden downpour, they'll often hunker down beneath dense branches or make a dash for the nearest cover until the rain passes. Getting wet makes it harder for squirrels to regulate their body temperature, although their fur does provide some insulation against the cold.

A-Z Animals also shared one particularly adorable fact: "Squirrels also know a cute trick to help keep their body dry. They are able to use their tails as a sort of umbrella to protect their bodies during light rain."

Unfortunately for this tiny squirrel, the storm looked a little too heavy for even the best tail umbrella, but his soaked little face definitely gave the internet a giant smile.

These 7 Dog Breeds Have Been America’s Favorites for Decades

Sat, 07/04/2026 - 6:10am

As many pet lovers know, the American Kennel Club regularly recognizes new dog breeds. Most recently, the AKC said "hey" to the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka, the Basset Fauve de Bretagne, and the Teddy Roosevelt Terrier. Seeing how people have already started falling in love with these pups, they may someday reign supreme on the AKC's most popular dog list. Yet, they'll have some stiff and friendly competition from classic dog breeds that have been America's favorites for decades in order to get there.

The most common dog breeds in America have long held their spots in the top 25 of the AKC's list of top dogs for a reason, and it's not just for good looks (which these pups have in spades). "There are definitely specific traits that people consistently gravitate toward generation after generation," says Bridget Murphy, the CEO of Koru K9 Dog Training. "Families often look for dogs that are friendly, adaptable, trainable, loyal and able to fit into a variety of lifestyles, and these dogs do just that."

Of course, Murphy adds that breed is just one piece to the puzzle. "A dog’s individual personality, upbringing, socialization and environment all play important roles," Murphy notes. Still, there's no denying that some of the most loved dog breeds tend to have qualties people value. Keep reading to discover seven dog breeds that have been America's favorites for decades, see why they've earned those spots in our hearts, and why these timeless dog breed will never go out of style.

7 Most Popular Dog Breeds In America 1. French Bulldog Playful, adaptable, and compact, the French Bulldog is a favorite companion dog.

Getty Images Chayantorn Tongmorn

In 2021, the French Bulldog climbed from No. 12 in 2012 to No. 2 on the AKC's list of most popular breeds. The following year, the sweet and silly dogs made history, ending the Labrador Retrievers' four-decade reign as America's favorite dog breed. Since then, it's held that spot ever since, which isn't surprising.

"French Bulldogs can be affectionate, people-oriented dogs that have been bred primarily for companionship, often making them a good choice for owners looking for a dog that enjoys being part of everyday family life," raves Annie-Mae Levy, CFBA, professional dog trainer at Woofz. "They have relatively low exercise requirements and can be well-suited to apartments and smaller homes, provided their physical and mental needs are still met."

Speaking of physical needs, Levy points out that Frenchies are brachycephalic (flat-faced), so they're more likely to experience breathing and heat-related health issues. So, if you add one of these classic dogs to your household, keep an eye on them and their water supply, especially when out and about in hot weather.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Playful, smart, adaptable
  • Height: 11–13 inches
  • Weight: Under 28 pounds
  • Lifespan: 10–12 years
2. Poodle Elegant but energetic, Poodles are a highly adaptable and lovable dog breed.

Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor had Poodles, so you know this dog breed is iconic. But it's the "Poodle personality" that truly shines bright like a diamond, forever in the minds of people who adore them the most.

"Poodles have stood the test of time because they are smart and versatile," Murphy says.

These pretty dogs are more active than their aristocratic aesthetic lets on, which wins over people who want a stylish dog breed that is adventurous. In fact, Murphy says Poodles jump at the chance to join homes with people who can engage with them through training, activities and companionship.

"Their intelligence and adaptability make them excellent fits for families, active individuals and owners who enjoy teaching their dogs new skills," Murphy says.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Intelligent, active, highly trainable, elegant
  • Height: 15 inches and up
  • Weight: 40–70 pound
  • Lifespan: 10–18 years
3. Labrador Retriever A top-rated companion breed among dog owners in the U.S.

They may now rank number two on the AKC's list of most popular dog breeds. However, Murphy says there are tons of reasons Labs are number one in many Americans' hearts.

"Labrador Retrievers are an iconic dog breed and have remained one of America’s favorite dog breeds for decades because of their friendly, outgoing and eager-to-please personalities," Murphy states. "Labs are often known for being highly social and adaptable, making them excellent companions for families, active individuals and even service work."

Murphy says that these common dog breeds thrive in homes that provide the regular exercise and mental stimulation they need. Therefore, if you're an active type who loves hiking, swimming and taking family adventures (dog included!), a Lab may be your perfect pet.

Breed Stats:
  • Personality: Active, friendly, outgoing
  • Height: 21.5–23.5 inches
  • Weight: 55–80 pounds
  • Lifespan: 11–13 years
4. Beagle This dog breed continues to win hearts year after year.

Getty Images Maryna Terletska

Life with a Beagle is a hoot and a howl—it's no shock they've been one of America's top dog breeds for years at a time.

"Beagles are friendly, sociable dogs that were originally bred to hunt in packs, giving them a strong sense of smell and a natural love of exploring—without human input," Levy points out. "They are generally affectionate with people and other dogs, but their independent nature and powerful scent drive mean recall and training often require extra patience and consistency."

Levy says that these devoted dogs often make good furry friends of kids and other animals, as long as they're socialized from a young age. Active homes that can give them plenty of exercise, enrichment and opportunities to satisfy their natural desire to sniff and explore make Beagles' hearts happy.

Breed Stats
  • Lifespan: 10–15 years
  • Personality: Curious, cheery, alert
  • Height: 13–15 inches
  • Weight: 20–30 pounds
5. German Shepherd The German Shepherd is one of America’s most trusted dog breeds.

Getty Images Purple Collar Pet Photography

There's no denying that many pet parents are long-time lovers of German Shepherds and think of them as their best friends. So why are German Shepherds so popular?

"German Shepherds have remained popular because of their intelligence, loyalty and strong work ethic," Murphy explains, "They are highly intelligent and trainable, and develop deep bonds with their families. This makes them both devoted companions and capable working dogs."

Murphy notes that GSDs do best in homes that can give them the structure, training and regular physical and mental exercise they crave.

"Active families, experienced dog owners, and individuals who enjoy training and engaging with their dogs often find German Shepherds to be incredibly rewarding companions," Murphy adds.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Courageous, confident, smart
  • Height: 22-26 inches
  • Weight: 50-90 pounds
  • Lifespan: 12–14 years

What's another big dog breed that everyone likes? Golden Retrievers! Levy gushes that these pups are usually friendly and gentle, making them a favorite dog breed. Since they were bred to work closely with humans, they're also very trainable and naturally fit into life with pretty much anyone, so it makes sense why they are often chosen as pets.

"They are typically docile but sociable with both people and other dogs, plus their patient, affectionate nature makes them a popular choice for homes with children and as therapy dogs," Levy notes. "Golden Retrievers are best suited to active families who can provide regular exercise, ongoing training and plenty of time and companionship throughout the day."

All-in-all, it's no wonder why these loyal dogs that stand the test of time.

Breed Stats:
  • Personality: Intelligent, friendly, devoted
  • Height: 21.5–24 inches
  • Weight: 55–75 pounds
  • Lifespan: 10–12 years
7. Dachshund One of America’s most beloved dog breeds for generations.

Small in size but huge in personality, the Dachshund is one of America’s most beloved little dogs—and it’s not hard to see why. With their playful spirit, loyalty, and unmistakable long bodies, these popular small dog breeds have been charming dog lovers for generations.

“Dachshunds are confident, affectionate dogs with big personalities, originally bred to hunt independently, which means they can have a bit of a mind of their own,” Levy states.

Despite their independent streak, Dachshunds are companion dogs that form strong bonds with their people. They thrive on attention, affection, and being close to their families, making them a longtime favorite among dog lovers in America and one of the most recognizable family-friendly dog breeds.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Curious, friendly, spunky

  • Lifespan: 12-16 years

Every feline has a playful side, but some cat breeds are especially known for being silly and have a knack for getting into harmless trouble. These are the kind of furry companions that have kitten-lilke energy and turn everyday into a comical adventure, which is why pet experts say life with a mischievous cat breed can be full of smiles and belly laughs.

Though, according to veterinarians, this naughty cat behavior isn’t random. Instead, it’s often a sign of a highly intelligent and a strong need for mental stimulation and interaction. Whether they’re opening cabinets, climbing to the highest point in the room, squeezing into impossible spaces, or proudly stealing your favorite hair tie, these cat breeds with big personalities know exactly how to keep their owners on their toes. After all, seeing how their antics are funny, surprising and oddly endearing, it's easy to see why so many people fall in love with them.

Below are seven mischievous cat breeds that will steal your heart (and maybe your favorite blanket), according to vets. They are delightfully chaotic in the cutest way possible thanks to their unforgettable personalities and make great pets.

7 Mischievous Cat Breeds

Not all cats are content to nap in sunny windows all day. Some michievous cat breeds are naturally more playful, curious, and intelligent—often turning simple moments into entertaining (and slightly chaotic) ones. These cats have feline personalities known for their big energy, clever minds, and love of exploration.

What's one chaotic, but lovable cat breed? The Devon Rex! With their oversized ears and expressive eyes, they have rightly earned their famous comparison to mischievous little pixies. However, that's prt of what makes people adore them so much.

“They are playful, silly and people-focused cats that may perch on shoulders, steal warm spots, investigate food or pop up in unexpected places,” says veterinarian Dr. Sarah Wooten.

However, if you have a Devon Rex, they will tug at your heartstrings for so many reasons, which outweighs their naughty nature. In fact, these high-energy cats tend to seek out close contact with their favorite people and enjoy being involved in everyday routines.

“Their spirited behavior is usually paired with a sweet, affectionate nature, which makes them hard to stay mad at,” Wooten adds.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Smart, active, mischievous
  • Weight: 5-9 pounds
  • Lifespan: 14–17 years

Want a spunky and smart cat? A Siamese checks both those boxes! If a Siamese cat thinks a cabinet or door should be opened, it will spend the afternoon figuring out how to do so.

“These cats are incredibly smart and highly social, making them want to be involved in every aspect of your day,” says Dr. Nathaniel Rakestraw, veterinarian at TelaVets.com.

They are also notorious for shadowing their owners from room to room and making their strong opinions known with their signature vocalizations. “Their deep attachment to their families is what makes their mischievous behavior so endearing,” Rakestraw shares.

If this is your dream cat breed, just know they are the happiest when they are included in daily activities and they can become bored if left alone without enough mental stimulation.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Playful, social
  • Weight: 5-12 pounds
  • Lifespan: 10-20 years
Maine Coon A playful cat that love to get into everything and hide in strage places.

Despite being one of the largest domestic cat breeds, Maine Coons never seem to outgrow their kitten-like sense of fun, and that can make them fall into the mischievous cat breed group. However, even though Maine Coons don’t reach peak maturity until they’re 3-5 years old, they're still super popular cats.

“They’re notorious for batting objects off counters, exploring every corner of the home and inserting themselves into whatever activity is taking place,” Rakestraw says.

No matter if they’re inspecting grocery bags, squeezing into boxes far too small or supervising household chores, Maine Coons like feeling like part of the action, which can lead to troublemaking antics.

“Overall, though, they are one of the most beloved breeds, despite their occasional mischief,” Rakestraw says.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Gentle, friendly, affectionate
  • Weight: 12-22 pounds
  • Lifespan: 12.5+ years
Bengal Cat A mischievous cat breed climbing shelves.

Bengal cats approach life as one big adventure, making them appear a bit naughty. They love climbing high bookshelves, exploring places other pets can never reach and investigating anything that catches their attention. Though, bringing one of these cuties into your life makes it more fun.

“These silly cats are fascinated by running water and can turn a simple sink into a source of entertainment,” Rakestraw says. “Their energy and confidence make them a handful at times, but they’re also incredibly engaging and affectionate cats. at the end of the day.”

Because of their athletic nature, Bengals thrive when offered cat trees, climbing shelves and puzzle toys that challenge both their minds and bodies. Giving them ample outlets for exercise can also channel their curiosity into healthy play instead of household chaos.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Inquisitive, spirited, loving

If there’s one sassy cat breed that treats every corner of your home like an open invitation for adventure, it’s the Abyssinian. Known for their endless curiosity and high energy, these cats are always on the move. Whether they are scaling shelves, investigating open doors, or checking out anything that looks even slightly interesting.

“They rarely miss an opportunity to explore something new and are constantly looking for their next adventure,” Rakestraw says.

While they may be labeled as “mischievous,” Abyssinians are really just highly engaged cats who need stimulation and connection. So what often looks like trouble is actually curiosity in action and a strong desire to interact with their environment. Therefore, cat trees, puzzle feeders, and interactive toys are especially important for keeping this intelligent cat breed mentally stimulated and on their best behavior.

“With enough enrichment and attention, this breed cn become incredibly loyal and entertaining members of your family,” Rakestraw shares. “Their playful spirit and outgoing personality make them wonderful companions for people who enjoy an interactive pet."

Highly intelligent and endlessly curious, Oriental Shorthairs are clever enough to create their own entertainment when none is provided. They love to investigate drawers, shelves and household items that many other cats wouldn’t spare a passing glance.

“Owners often find missing pens, jewelry or small household items that have been secretly relocated by their Oriental Shorthair,” Rakestraw says.

These little troublemaker cats and adorable thieves are super sweet though and incredibly loving. In fact, they are known for forming close bonds with their people, making them excellent companions for households that can provide plenty of engagement.

“They’re highly social cats that crave interaction and often develop remarkably strong bonds with their families,” Rakestraw says.

The Cornish Rex is another cat breed that seems to hang onto its kitten-like energy for life. Their long legs, lightweight bodies and curiosity can make them natural jumpers who rarely pass up an opportunity to play. So, if you want a fun-loving cat breed, these felines are for you!

“They may race through rooms, leap onto furniture or turn anything lightweight into a toy,” Wooten says.

These active cats enjoy interactive games and plenty of opportunities to climb, chase and explore. When they don’t have enough stimulation, they tend to invent their own games with whatever objects happen to be nearby. They are even known for stealing blankets and burrowing into anything soft and warm.

“They’re lovable because they bring a kitten-like sense of fun to daily life,” Wooten adds.

Shih-Tzu Looks So Much Like Chewbacca, 'Star Wars' Fans Are Losing It

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 7:55pm

Shih-Tzus are already adorable dogs on their own, but when you find a Shih-Tzu who looks like one of the most beloved characters from one of the most popular film franchises of all time, it's pretty extraordinary.

And that's what's happening in this new viral video featuring an extraordinary Shih-Tzu named George Cowboy, who looks so much like Chewbacca that it's actually astonishing.

With his long, flowing coat and sweet demeanor, viewers (and especially Star Wars fans) are having priceless reactions to this sweet Shih-Tzu.

rrrruuuurrr. what a wookiee #fyp #chewie

One person wrote, "The cleanest and most luscious hair I’ve ever seen on a Wookie."

Another wrote, "Chewbacca, is that you?"

One viewer said, "Aw, my favorite Lil Chewbacca."

Then many people just wrote "Chewie!!!"

This little Shih-Tzu is a true doppelganger for the legendary sidekick of Harrison Ford's Han Solo, whom we were originally introduced to in the 1977 film, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

How To Care for a Shih-Tzu's 'Chewbacca' Coat

Believe it or not, there are actually many tutorials and videos on how to not only create the "Chewbacca" coat for your Shih-Tzu (as well as other breeds) but also how to keep it properly groomed.

If you're looking to achieve the perfect Wookie look with a Shih-Tzu, you need to let the dog's hair grow out to at least a medium length so you can get that nice Wookie flow.

To keep the coat nice and Wookie smooth, you will need to brush it every day.

To create the rounded muzzle, you must brush the cheek and beard hair forward and then trim the hair into a half-moon shape around their mouth, according to Groom Haüs.

To get Chewbacca's head hair, @bridgitsbarkingbowtique on Instagram suggests fluffing it, then rounding it with thinning shears.

You do want to keep the eyes completely visible for safety and to show off their beautiful peepers!

Follow these steps, and you too can have your own miniature Wookie at home!

Labrador Holds Onto a Tiny Piece of French Toast for Hours Just to Tease Her Brother

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 7:00pm

If there's one thing dogs look forward to, it's mealtime, and Labradors certainly aren't known for leaving leftovers. That's why one sweet Lab has the internet laughing after she carefully held onto a tiny piece of French toast for hours. The reason? It's something parents with more than one child will know immediately.

Katy's chocolate Labrador, Marge, wasn't saving the coveted bite because she was hungry. Instead, it seemed what she really wanted to do was to torment her brother, Homer, by keeping it tucked safely between her paws. Homer had been served the exact same breakfast, but he'd inhaled his. Now, he couldn't stop staring and complaining about Marge's untouched piece of French toast, completely forgetting he already had his. The hilarious sibling standoff has viewers convinced Marge knew exactly what she was doing

Whether you have kids or pets (or both!) at home, you'll totally be able to relate to Katy's caption. "The level of drama at my house is unreal." Parents everywhere understand exactly what she means!

Some of the comments were hilarious, too. Like @pablo_shepherd, who shared, "A chocolate Lab saving food for more than a few seconds?? I don’t even think AI would dream this scenario up."

Another commenter said, "Homer’s eyebrows are KILLING ME LOL! He looks furious!" @the_rode_family had our favorite comment: There has never been a dog to look more like an 82-year-old man wearing suspenders than that dog."

Do Dogs Really Tease Each Other?

Psychology Today explains that while dogs don't tease in quite the same way humans do, research suggests they do engage in playful social behaviors that can look remarkably similar. Like Marge, some dogs will intentionally parade prized toys, treats, or even stolen objects in front of another dog—not necessarily to be mean, but to encourage a game of chase or spark some kind of interaction.

Of course, there's a difference between playful teasing and behavior that's making another dog uncomfortable. According to Oregon Humane, you can usually tell by watching the dogs' body language. Warning signs include prolonged pinning or holding another dog's skin or body in their mouth, repeated body slamming or mounting with few breaks, barking, whining, snarling, or ignoring another dog's attempts to disengage. If one dog is clearly signaling "I've had enough," but the other keeps pushing, it's time for a human to step in.

Whether Marge was hoping to start a game or simply enjoying the fact that Homer couldn't stop staring at her French toast, one thing is certain: she had the patience of a saint.
