Sweet Cat Smiles With Pure Love the Moment Her Beagle Sister Starts Hugging Her

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 8:20pm

Cats and dogs are supposed to be sworn enemies, at least if you learned animal behavior from cartoons.

Real life is much better.

In this video, a gray-and-white cat and her Beagle sister are in the backseat on their way to a beach getaway, which is already a strong start. A road trip, a beach day, and your favorite sibling beside you? That's the kind of vacation energy most of us are chasing.

@megancottone

She’s low key smiling so big #cats #beagles

♬ original sound - kel

Then the Beagle starts hugging her.

The cat's face changes the whole scene. She looks like she just realized what's happening and can't believe how loved she is. The caption on the video points out that exact moment: the cat noticing her dog sister has wrapped her up on the way to their trip.

The post caption says she's low-key smiling, but argues that there's nothing low-key about it. That is a full soft-face, happy-heart, "this is my person, except she's a Beagle" expression.

This is unfairly sweet!

The magic is how gentle the hug looks. Beagles aren't exactly known for being subtle when they have feelings, but this one seems so settled beside her cat sister. No "cats vs. dogs" nonsense.

One comment called them best friends and said they love the bond, which is exactly what got me. You don't need a long backstory to understand it. You can see it in the cat's face. You can see it in the way the Beagle leans in. Some friendships are loud but in the softest way.

Clips like this make me want to ask every pet parent the same thing: Which one of your animals is secretly the emotional support sibling?

Because every multi-pet household seems to have one. The dog who checks on the cat. The cat who pretends not to care but always sleeps as close as can be. The sibling who starts the cuddles, and the one who acts surprised, even though they clearly love it.

That's what makes this little beach trip moment feel bigger than a car ride. It's not just a hug. It's trust. A cat doesn't usually soften like that unless they feel safe.

And this kitty looks deeply, wonderfully safe.

These two are perfect and look like they packed friendship for the beach. Can I come?

How Cats and Dogs Show Affection to Each Other

Cats and dogs may not show love in the same way, but they can absolutely form close bonds. Affection can look like sitting together, grooming, gentle play, relaxed body language, or simply choosing to be near each other.

The Wisconsin Humane Society notes that relaxed body language matters when helping cats and dogs build a safe relationship.

A few sweet signs to watch for:

  • They choose closeness.
  • Their bodies stay loose.
  • They respect breaks.
  • They share calm routines.
  • They check in gently.

This Beagle gave the hug, but the cat's little smile made the whole story.

Rare Blue Bay Shepherd Looks Like a Wolf—but the Personality May Surprise You

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 7:55pm

It's always a wonderful thing to learn about a rare dog breed you may have never heard of before, and the Blue Bay Shepherd is an especially interesting one.

In a new viral video, we meet the Blue Bay Shepherd, a very rare dog breed that looks remarkably like a wolf and has a stunning, unique blue-gray coat.

Though these dogs may have a strikingly similar appearance to wolves, their personalities are very different.

@petvibes386

♬ original sound - World vibes How Rare Are Blue Bay Shepherds?

So if you're wondering how rare the Blue Bay Shepherd is, the answer is quite rare.

The first Blue Bay Shepherd was bred in 2011 in Florida, which means they have only been around for less than 20 years.

Originally, they were thought to be a mix of German Shepherds and Southern Breeze Wolfdogs by the first breeder, Vicki Spencer.

Her goal with the breed was to create dogs who possessed the mythical beauty of wolves with gentle, trainable temperaments who could be good family dogs.

The pups are now believed to be a mix of German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, Eastern Timber Wolfdogs, Alaskan Malamutes, and even some unknown breeds that haven't been disclosed, according to Marvelous Dogs.

The Blue Bay Shepherd is considered a designer breed, not purebred, which means the American Kennel Club doesn't recognize it, according to ChienMag.

Currently, Blue Bay Shepherds are only available from Spencer's Southern Breeze Ranch in Palm Bay, Florida, and only a few litters are produced each year.

This means there are very few Blue Bay Shepherds available at any time, and they will most likely cost quite a lot of money to purchase.

Related: Rare Blue Shepherd Looks Like the World's Fluffiest Werewolf

Are Blue Bay Shepherds Good Family Dogs?

Spencer's intention when creating this breed was for the pups to look like wolves but have gentle temperaments, so yes, they're considered good family pets.

They're affectionate and easy to train, but it should be noted that these dogs aren't shy or passive, according to The Pets Magazine.

As for their typical size, they usually stand between 24 and 30 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 70 and 100 pounds, depending on the gender and parents.

Just keep in mind that this is a very new breed with only a handful of these dogs existing on the planet right now.

Here is a current Blue Bay Shepherd named Thor who comes from Spencer's Southern Breeze Ranch.

Costco’s $14 Pet Find Is So ‘Impossible to Resist,’ Shoppers Are Racing to Grab Every Style

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 7:51pm

When it comes to stocking up on home and kitchen essentials, few places provide exactly what you need quite like Costco. And while it’s easy to cross most items off your list as far as your own needs are concerned, it’s important to remember to snag something fun for the furry friends waiting for you back at home.

That’s where the Highland Cow Jumbo Dog Toy comes in. Already making its way to select Costco warehouses nationwide, this cute and cuddly plush is quickly becoming the talk of the internet. Available in warehouse in two whimsical styles for just $13.89, it’s the perfect surprise to bring home from your next warehouse run.

Highland Cow Jumbo Dog Toy, $13.89 at Costco View this post on Instagram

Spotted by @costcohotfinds and making its way to a warehouse near you, the Highland Cow Jumbo Dog Toy resembles the adorable Scottish farm animal with shaggy fur, long horns and a soft plush interior. Perfect for dogs of all ages, it’s designed to encourage play and engagement while providing comfort when needed, making it an ideal toy to keep on hand at all times.

Measuring 14 inches tall, 13 inches wide and roughly 9 inches long, it’s ideal for both larger dogs that love a good roughhousing session and smaller pups who need a reliable cuddle companion during naptime. It also comes with a squeaker to encourage natural play instincts and crinkle material to keep your furball interested during playtime.

“I think I bought these more for me than the dogs,” @costcohotfinds says in her video. “Something about those fluffy cows is just impossible to resist.”

Related: Dog Lovers Are Racing to Anthropologie for This Luxurious Pistachio-Scented Home Accent

With both brown and white options to choose from and one of the cutest animal designs we’ve seen in quite a while, it’s easy to see why shoppers are so obsessed. And considering these toys don’t just look cute—they also hold up to hours of cuddling, tossing and shaking—the $14 price tag feels more like a steal than anything else. Even better, you can hand wash them as needed, allowing for months to years of play, so long as your pup isn't the type to rip toys apart in seconds.

“My dog would do unspeakable things to that cow,” one shopper joked in response to Laura’s post. “They’re sooo stinkin’ cute,” another wrote.

“I’ll get both because they’re too cute not to,” a third fan replied, while others pondered simply snatching one up for themselves.

While this adorable jumbo dog toy is already making waves online, just remember that if you haven’t spotted it at your local warehouse yet, that doesn’t mean you’ve missed it. It likely just hasn’t made its way to your region and could be arriving sooner than you think. Keep your eyes peeled, and while you’re there, check out the WonderFold Pet Hudson Medium Pet Stroller and Portal 2Hub Instant Pop-Up Sun Shelter too.

Woman Hears Tiny Meows Outside Her Door and Finds a Kitten Waiting to Adopt Her

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 7:00pm

Every cat parent has heard the joke that we don't choose cats, they choose us. That's exactly what happened when one woman heard tiny meows coming from outside her front door. Curious to see who was making all the noise, she opened the door, and what was waiting on the other side couldn't have been any cuter.

Sitting there was an adorable little kitten, seemingly determined to make one thing perfectly clear: he'd found his new home. The moment Mom opened the door, he strolled right inside like he owned the place. The heartwarming encounter has viewers convinced the Cat Distribution System was once again doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

Viewers left hundreds of comments about the adorable meeting. @Taylor L Jennings joked, "They do delivery now!" Another commenter shouted, "THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ME!!!!"

@Kaitlin Rivera pointed out, "Seems like you have been chosen," and Mom replied, "That’s what everyone is telling me! Starting to think they’re right."

Although the kitten's new mom has shared other videos of their adventures together, she hasn't shared his name. We wonder what she plans to call him. Hopefully she'll share the news soon!

Why Stray Kittens Sometimes Approach People

Very young kittens that approach people are often hungry, frightened, separated from their mother, or have already had positive experiences with humans.

If you find a kitten that appears healthy, looking nearby for its mother is a good place to start. But Catster cautions against assuming every friendly kitten on its own is a stray. "First, don't assume the cat is a stray, even if they don't have a collar. Some cats wander farther than their owners realize, and several owners don't put collars on their cats. However, a cat that looks dirty or emaciated or is outside in harsh weather is more likely to be a stray."

Sometimes, though, a tiny stray seems to know exactly where it belongs and isn't shy about making itself at home. And if this little kitten is any indication, sometimes the Cat Distribution System really does have a perfect plan.

'Completely Discarded' Senior Cat Was Rescued in the Nick of Time — but Now She Needs a Miracle

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 6:10pm

Countless dogs and cats wind up in shelters through no fault of their own. Pet parents sometimes surrender their animals due to financial difficulties, health issues, or relocation. In other instances, these innocent fur babies are abandoned and left to fend for themselves.

Miah is a senior cat rescued by the NAWS Humane Society after being tossed aside by someone she trusted, and now the feline fur baby needs to start over.

@franflight

After I read Miah’s story and saw her on the euthanasia list, I knew she needed all of us. I know that all of us can come together to find Miah a wonderful home to be in. Miah is 14 and does great with other cats, but is still fearful of dogs. Her bloodwork results should come back soon, where we will learn more about her overall health. Currently, she looks amazing and uses the litter box great. She eats great, and loves attention once she is comfortable with you. If you have any questions about Miah please feel free to reach out to me directly, and if you are serious about adopting Miah please submit an adoption application at nawsus.org, the application is under the tab “adoption center”. Miah is not posted to the website yet, but she will be if this video doesn’t find her a family. I’m sending you guys all of my love. 🥹🫂🤍 #adopt #adoptdontshop #cat #catsoftiktok #dog

♬ What Was I Made For? (Epilogue) [Instrumental Version] - Mark Ronson & Andrew Wyatt

The TikTok from @franflight shared Miah's story and how the 14-year-old feline ended up at NAWS.

"Miah finds herself at the shelter during the last leg of her life," the on-screen text shared as the NAWS staff member gave the pretty kitty some much-needed affection. "She was completely discarded by someone she loved. She found herself helpless, alone, and terrified, until her neighbors found her."

The senior cat almost didn't survive. Thankfully, NAWS stepped in and saved her from
euthanization.

"She was then brought to animal control where she was eventually set to be euthanized," the story continued. "Miah got her second chance here with us. So all we can do right now is make her feel comfortable, try to be there for her until she finds a new family."

Miah Needs a Forever Family

In several clips of the video, Miah leaned in to the shelter staff member's affectionate pets and seemed to enjoy every moment of attention. She clearly loves to be with people when she feels safe and has an easy disposition.

According to the TikTok post, she gets along well with other cats, yet is fearful of dogs. NAWS will soon have more information about her overall health, but share that she's doing well so far.

"Currently, she looks amazing and uses the litter box great," the caption noted. "She eats great and loves attention once she is comfortable with you."

Hopefully, someone will open their heart to this loving senior cat and give her a home that lasts forever this time around.

PetSmart's 3-in-1 Pop-Up Tent & Tunnel Toy Keeps Cats Entertained for Hours

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 10:36am

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Want to get a really cute toy that will keep your indoor cat entertained, but also won't stretch your wallet too much? Then check out this sale at PetSmart on an exclusive cat play set. The Whisker City 3-in-1 Pop-Up Cat Play Set is now only $20 when it normally costs $30.

This is the "purrfect" toy when your cat's alone and needs to be entertained. It can satisfy their need to explore and seek adventure, even when you're at work or school.

The play set easily pops open and also folds down when you need to store it. It comes with two dangle toys, two tents, a tunnel that connects the tents, and a carry bag. (That's why it's called a 3-in-1 set: it has a tunnel and two tents that can be used separately or together.)

As you can see from the photos on the listing, one of the tents has a cute kitty face on it, a dangling toy in the center, and multiple openings where your kitty can hide and jump out at you when you walk by. The tunnel that connects them also has an opening in the center. At the other end is an orange pop-up tent shaped like a fence with multiple openings and a dangly toy hanging from the top.

One reviewer writes: "I brought this home a couple of weeks ago and everyday since my cats act like it’s a new toy. They love it."

Buyers rate this 4.6 out of 5 stars on PetSmart's website. (And the photos they've uploaded to go with their reviews are absolutely adorable.)

"My cats love it!" exclaims one buyer. "My cats, Patra and Java, absolutely love this toy. They have been playing in it since the moment I opened it."

One person says the tunnel is perfect for their "larger than usual tabby," and another says the tunnel has "held up very well" to the antics of their seven teenage kittens. (One buyer does recommend cutting off the bells that dangle from the parrot that hangs from the tents.)

A third person raves: "This was a Christmas gift, and he plays with it every day, speeds in and out in a split second. He loves it so much and never seems to tire of it."

PetSmart offers same-day delivery where available, along with curbside pickup options and shipping.

Shih-Tzu-Pomeranian Mix Looks Like a Plushie Who 'Wished to Become a Real Dog'

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 10:10am

Some dogs exude an almost toy-like appearance. Certain fluffy breeds like Chow Chows, Newfoundlands, and Pekingese boast such lush and poufy coats, they could be mistaken for some sort of stuffed animal.

Lucy is a senior Shih-Tzu-Pomeranian mix that gives off total puppy plush vibes, and it's hard to believe she's real.

In the TikTok from @houseofamiliars, Lucy stared adorably into the camera as her mom offered her peanut butter. The precious pooch danced around in excitement like she was channeling her inner puppy.

"A senior citizen that doesn't act very senior when peanut butter is involved," the on-screen text read.

Although the darling dog's dance was impressive, Lucy's appearance was the real showstopper. Her gray and white fur surrounded her body like a billowy cloud, making her look like she was just plucked from the toy shelf. Her button eyes just added to her charm, and her fluffy, folded ears made you wonder if they had been drawn with art supplies.

Followers were bowled over by the fur baby's over-the-top adorableness and still questioned whether she was a canine or cuddle toy:

  • "It's like a plushie made a wish to become a real puppy," one pointed out.
  • "That's the cutest little thing — she looks like a stuffie," another remarked.
  • "I didn't even realize that was real for a second there," a follower revealed.
  • "That’s an adorable little Ewok if I’ve ever seen one!!" someone posted.
  • "She looks like a well-loved childhood toy — how adorable," a fan gushed.
Are Shih-Tzu-Pomeranians Rare?

This adorable crossbreed has become a more popular and easy to find over the years, thanks to their playful personality and strong sense of loyalty. Also known as the Shih Pom, Shih-A-Pom, Pomshi, and Pom-Tzu, the Shih-Tzu-Pomeranian mix is very social and makes a wonderful family pet.

These hybrids remain relatively small through their lives, weighing up to 16 pounds and standing at approximately 10 inches at adulthood. Coat colors include black, red, chocolate, brindle, sable, orange, and multicolor.

Related: Tiny Pomeranian Meets a Horse and the Gentle Giant Is Completely Smitten

The Shi-A-Pom boasts a silky double coat that's either wavy or straight and requires daily brushing to stay healthy. These canine cuties should get a bath just once a month due to their sensitive skin.

These fluffy fur babies may be small, but, like Lucy, they pack a lot of personality.

Malinois With a ‘Massive Crush’ on German Shepherd Has No Idea How to Play It Cool

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 10:00am

The Belgian Malinois is frequently regarded as one of the "scariest" dog breeds out there. They're super tough to manage, and only the most experienced dog parents should be trying to make it work. However, when they're living good lives, they're so amazing!

Recently, one Belgian Malinois proved that she's just a girl. She's developed a little bit of a crush on a German Shepherd, and she doesn't know what to do about it. Evidently, playing it cool is not an option:

@seajaydiary

#belgianmalinois #malinoisoftiktok #germanshepherd #dogsoftiktok #maligator

♬ original sound - seajay

The Malinois (Truly) is Seajay's, and the German Shepherd (Tex) belongs to her boyfriend. The two of them have only met recently, but they've already hit it off... At least from Truly's perspective. She is entirely smitten with him.

Based on this video alone, it seems like Tex might not be as interested, but it might just be her approach. She doesn't mean to, but Truly is approaching him a bit aggressively with all of her love. When she doesn't know what to do, she opens her mouth really wide and tries to eat him!

Related: Jaw-Dropping Malinois Scales a 14-Foot Wall Like It’s Nothing at All

As it turns out, the feeling is definitely mutual. Tex loves when he gets to see Truly! They have similar energy levels and personalities, so they love playing together, pretending to bite each other, and then holding paws:

The two of them are truly meant to be. How lucky are they that their parents were already dating?! If they ever needed a reason to stay together forever, this just might be it.

How Do Malinois Play?

The Belgian Malinois is often portrayed as being all business, all the time. That's just not true, though: they all have their moments. They love to play and have friends!

Svetlana Belkina / Getty Images

Malinois love to play, but they can be a little rough from time to time. They have very strong jaws and very high-energy levels. Some of their favorite games are things like:

  • Tug of war.
  • Fetch.
  • Herding games with balls (they're Shepherds, after all).
  • Frisbee (frisbees often go farther than balls.
  • Any game that involves jumping.

You can play by yourself or with other dogs, but if you're going to invite others, be sure to keep an eye on them to make sure they don't get too excited!

Stray Cat With Stunning Face 'Powder' Looks Like a Real-Life Ghost

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 9:20am

There are millions of cats walking the earth at any given point. They're all cute in their own way, but it takes having a magical, interesting, or rare appearance to stand out from the rest.

Recently, one stray cat walked right up to a woman and decided she'd be his new mom. It was love at first sight, and it's all because of his incredible "powder" white face markings that make this perfect kitty look like an actual ghost!

@purplecreampuff

I gave it some cat food i really hope it heals the limping hurt my soul💔😔🥀 if anyone near hinesville georgia can help this cat PLEASE she was in the trailer park on ruben wells rd hinesville fl around lot 40-45. shes genuinely the most unique cat i have EVER seen! #straycat #hinesvillegeorgia #help #fypシ

Majesty, the Black Cat, wandered the streets in Hinesville, Georgia, with a painful limp and a bad scar that needed medical attention. Thanks to the help of the kind stranger who took in this Black Kitty, he's well on his way to being his happiest, healthiest self.

Those gorgeous, stark white face markings are incredibly rare. It's almost like he's wearing a Halloween costume's mask (Scream's Ghostface, anyone?). Many people in the comments compared him to a Gremlin, a Furby, a Rorschach test, and a work of art, with one suggesting he should be named "Flour" for obvious reasons!

Related: Feral Cat Moved Her Kittens Into a Stranger's Yard—and the Resident Cat Had a Lot To Do With It

After settling in and learning to trust his new humans, Majesty is eating, drinking, and as Mom wrote in an update, "lively and vocal." All are good signs that Majesty didn't just get the chance to heal, but to thrive.

He's a total lovebug winning over the internet's collective heart, but mostly, his new family. And his adorable, powdered face is way too purrfect!

@purplecreampuff

i love him so so much🥹 i do believe we can help him. please please PLEASE let me know CAT SAFE items to buy. obviously i will be doing research on requested things but this is my first time helping a stray alone- do not be afraid to lmk if im doing something wrong KINDLY i just want this cat to have an amazing life!! #straycat #help #heal

♬ sonido original - opheliaa What Can Cause a Black Cat To Have a Powdered 'Ghost' Face?

While all Majesty's new fans patiently await a new vet update, more than a few noted that his cool-looking face looks like it might be vitiligo. The harmless skin condition is extremely rare in cats and isn't usually visible at birth.

It's caused when the immune system demolishes pigment-producing cells, which makes the skin turn pink and the fur white (most notably around the face and paws). Against an all-black coat like Majesty's, the white splotches resemble a masterpiece painting or as if he's been speckled with glittery stardust, though it can change over time.

Whether that's what Majesty has or not, at least the stunning "ghost" boy is off the street and in a loving home where he'll no doubt be admired for the rest of his days.

Feral Cat ‘Begs’ Kind Woman to Save Her Babies, and It’s a Match Made in Heaven

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 9:00am

Stray cats have it rough out in the world, whether they have kittens or not. They never know where their next meal is coming from, where they're going to find a safe place to sleep, or who is safe to be around. It only gets harder when they have kittens to look after.

Recently, one feral cat decided she needed some help with her kittens. She wanted to make sure they were safe, and life on the streets wasn't cutting it. So, naturally, she made her way to a kind woman's house and begged her to take them in:

Since then, they've stayed on her property. They have lots of land and a bunch of different animals, and they allow them to explore the property. For a lot of cats, going from being fully outside to fully inside is a difficult transition.

Mama wasn't in this video, but she was around. She's so lucky: others might have just taken the kittens in. The woman she chose, however, made sure there was room for them all!

How to Help Feral Kittens

While it's very common to see feral kittens, especially in the warmer months, most of them aren't going to walk right into your life as these kittens did with their mama. Even if they don't, though, you might still find some out and about!

Aleksandr Rybalko / Getty Images

If you find feral kittens somewhere, resist your first instinct to scoop them up and take them away... At least for a moment. You should:

  • Assess them to see if any look injured.
  • Look around for more.
  • Look around for their mother.

Try not to take the kittens without their mother if it's at all possible. For one thing, they need her to eat, and for another, she's definitely not spayed. Getting her spayed, even if it's a TNVR situation, will help prevent more kittens. The Lost Animal Magnet can't take care of them all!

Fearless Tuxedo Cat Chases Giant Black Bear Out of the Yard in Incredible Video

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 8:55am

Heroes come in all sizes.

In a new viral video from CTV, a brave small Tuxedo cat chases a bear out of his family's yard in Canada, and it is a sight to see!

When the Black Bear wandered into the cat's yard, instead of running and hiding, this fearless feline charged straight ahead and made sure that the bear knew he wasn't wanted there.

Despite the Tuxedo cat's tiny size next to the bear, that bear could not have gotten out of there sooner.

That jump over the fence by the bear is impressive as well.

Perhaps he was intimidated by the tiny cat's fancy tuxedo coloring!

As you can imagine, the comments section was lit.

One person wrote, "I am always in awe of the self-esteem and self-confidence of cats based on no evidence whatsoever."

Another said, "Cats aren't afraid of anything."

"Cats are the baddest animals on the planet, and I’ll stand on that," another viewer wrote.

Why Would a Cat Chase a Black Bear?

So the obvious question is, why would a cat chase a Black Bear that is much bigger than it is?

According to Animal Report, kitties are very territorial.

So when this cat spotted the bear in his yard, on his territory, he wasn't really paying attention to his own size (or the sharp claws or teeth of the bear).

They have an instinctual drive to protect their territory at all costs.

And though you would think the kitty would be intimidated by the bear's size, or at least aware of it, that territorial instinct, as well as the cat's skill as a hunter, is a stronger drive.

Cats will do whatever they have to do to protect their territory at all costs.

And it looks like the Black Bear didn't care to put up a fight with this ferocious Tuxedo cat!

Failed Service Dog Will Do Absolutely Anything to Be Helpful

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 8:05am

I have to admit, I got a little emotional watching this one. We hear the words "failed" service dog and immediately assume that means the dog wasn't good enough. Then along comes Leo, who seems absolutely determined to prove that he still has one very important job: helping his mom in any way he possibly can ... even if his definition of "helpful" is a little questionable.

The truth is, Leo may not have graduated service dog school, but nobody seems to have told him that. Every single day, he wanders around the house looking for something —anything — he thinks his mom might need, and the results are equal parts hilarious and incredibly sweet.

@thank.you.leo

Thank you Leo for being so helpful #dog #dogsoftiktok

♬ You'll Be In My Heart - Ric Mills

The adorable video was shared by @thank.you.leo., and the caption reads:

"What my conversations are like with the dog I adopted, who attended but didn't graduate service dog school."

The clip is basically a highlight reel of Leo proudly delivering treasures to his mom.

A plastic syringe.

Two mismatched socks.

One lonely shoe.

A dirty paper towel he found on the counter.

Related: Service Dog Gets Her Own Diploma at College Graduation and Everyone Is Emotional

Every single time, she lovingly replies, "Thank you, Leo," as if he'd just handed her the keys to a brand-new car.

I think that's exactly what Leo believes he's doing.

His little face says, "You're welcome, Mother. I have solved another problem."

The Comments Somehow Made the Whole Thing Even Sweeter:
  • "It's got my mind wrapped up is that he knew socks come in pairs."
  • "Crying as I imagine him just wandering around the house until he finds something he thinks could be helpful for you. 🥹 He's the bestest little helper!"
  • "When I found out that you can adopt dogs who couldn't graduate from service school for whatever reason… I'm going to need a REALLY big farm."
  • "He has so much hope and love in his eyes."
  • "His eyes are always saying 'Is this the right thing?'"
  • "He just wants to be a good boy."
  • "Cuz what do you mean his little brain says, 'My momma needs this random paper towel.'"
  • "You know who would really like this dirty paper towel? Mom."

That last comment absolutely destroyed me.

Why Dogs Sometimes Fail Service Dog Training @dogtor.walsh

♬ Just A Girl - No Doubt

Despite the name, a "failed" service dog isn't a bad dog. In fact, many are wonderful companions. Service dogs go through extensive training, and not every dog is the right fit for that specific type of work.

Some are simply a little too friendly and would rather greet everyone they meet. Others might get distracted more easily, have health concerns, or just not enjoy the demands of working in public. Organizations have incredibly high standards because service dogs perform important tasks for people with disabilities.

Many dogs that don't complete the program go on to become beloved family pets, therapy dogs, or emotional support animals instead.

If Leo is any indication ...

Sometimes "failing" one job just means you're exceptionally qualified for another.

His current position appears to be Director of Random Household Objects, and judging by that very important paper towel delivery ... I'd say he's employee of the month.

Rare Fully-Brown Ragdoll Cat Looks Like a Little Chocolate Chip

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 8:00am

Out of all of the colors of cats I see every day, brown is among the least common. There are just not that many brown cats in the world, especially compared to colors like grey, black, or orange. Seeing a brown cat is a rare treat!

Recently, one little brown Ragdoll cat totally took my breath away. He has the most perfect, chocolatey brown fur, and it's super fluffy to boot! He looks like a tiny chocolate chip, and I might never get over it:

@ragdollnamedfinn

just chillin with mom, hbu?? #ragdoll #browncat #blueeyes #beautifulboy #fyp

♬ original sound - €

Finn the Ragdoll Cat is amazing. From his warm, welcoming fur to his little bell collar, I just can't get over it. He looks so little in that video, but Finn is actually almost a full-grown cat: he's a little over a year old! He's actually coming up on the first anniversary of moving into his forever home.

When he was little, Finn's coat was definitely a little lighter, but it's gotten darker and much fluffier with age. That tends to happen with most cats, but with Finn, it's just so noticeable! He has definitely gotten more handsome with age.

Related: Split-Face Tortie Maine Coon’s Golden Eyes Look Like Ancient Treasure

Finn is an only cat. His parents spend all of their time with him, which is exactly the kind of thing he likes! His favorite position to be in is upside down, preferably on top of someone:

His coat is lighter near his belly, fading from rich brownie batter to, like, chocolate Dippin' Dots. It's almost exactly the color that his kitten fur was. It's nice to see that they still have that piece of him!

More About Brown Ragdolls

Brown Ragdolls are a very interesting and very divisive part of the Ragdoll cat community. Brown cats are rare in general, but they're especially rare in this particular breed.

Brown Ragdolls are very different from standard ones, which are always a creamy white/grey color with some darker markings and blue eyes. Brown Ragdolls are actually classified as "Mink" Ragdolls, and they come in a few colors:

  • Brown.
  • Grey/blue.
  • Orange.

These cats can also have different colored eyes than traditional Ragdolls, including green or amber, though they can be blue-eyed too. Whatever the case may be, they're so beautiful!

'Extra Snorty' Pit Bull Mix Looks Like a 'Sassy Powdered Donut' and We Love It

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 7:10am

My Pug mix has quite a personality. He's a bit clumsy and awkward, totally obsessed with food, and makes some of the funniest sounds even when unprompted. From loud yawns and staccato whines to low rumbles and even a sort of hum, my Puggie is definitely a communicative canine.

Pinky is a smiling Pit Bull mix who has her own symphony of sounds along with a snowy white coat that resembles a sweet treat.

@pinkytheunemployed

♬ original sound - Pinky

In the TikTok from @pinkytheunemployed, the pretty Pittie was fidgeting on the couch and clearly excited about something. Pinky wiggled and wriggled and emitted several snorting sounds to show her enthusiasm.

"She's extra snorty today," the caption read.

While nothing appeared in the video to explain her cheery behavior, Pinky was like a bundle ecstatic energy. Her white coat with pink (yes, pink) undertones were accented by one lone brown furry patch on her eye, making Pinky even more irresistible.

Followers were completely charmed by Pinky's zest for life and found her snort sounds totally endearing:

  • "She reminds me of the Toy Story dog," one remarked.
  • "Sassy powdered donut," another commented.
  • "I love me a snortasaurus," a follower raved.
  • "She's so cute and looks like she's a cuddle bug," someone gushed.
  • "I love that she excited for no reason," a fan posted.
Why Do Dogs Snort When They're Excited?

A dog's breathing changes when they get excited, causing them to pant or pull air in quickly through their nose, where the muscles around the throat and nasal passages can tighten. This can result in a snorting sound, particularly if your dog has extra sensitive airways.

Some canines make these sounds whey they play since they are flip-flopping between sniffing, panting, bouncing, and trying to have some self-control while having fun. The snort effect tends to be more frequent in dogs that are naturally expressive.

Related: Pit Bull's Hopeful Smile in His Shelter Intake Photo Is Breaking Hearts Everywhere

These sounds are usually normal and part of a dog's playful personality. If the snorting happens more often or comes with coughing, wheezing, trouble breathing, nasal discharge, or distress, consult your veterinarian.

For Pinky, snorting seems to be how she communicates and it's absolutely adorable.

7 Ways to Say “You're Safe” to Your Dog So They Understand, Accordng to Experts

Sun, 07/05/2026 - 6:10am

As a dog mom or dad, it's natural to want to protect your pup from everything. After all, if you have a dog, you know that your furry companion is always looking out for you, so naturally, you want to do the same for them. So when your dog is frightened by fireworks, nervous at the vet or overwhelmed in a new situation, your first instinct is probably to reassure them. The challenge is that dogs communicate differently from people, which can make getting across the message that you're not going to let anything happen to them a bit tricky.

You can't let that dscurage you, though. The key to helping your anxious dog when they are scared is learning to speak their language through behavior and everyday interactions. Because of that, the exact words matter less than you might think, and instead the way you speak, move and engaged with them can send a powerful message that they’re safe.

The good news is, dogs are experts at reading human body language, vocal tone and people's emotional states so they often pick up on subtle cues easily. To help you know some things you can do to comfort your dog, we’ve rounded up 7 ways to say “You're safe” to your dog so they understand you, based on insights from veterinarians and trainers. These simple actions and training cues will strengthen your bond with your dog, build their trust with you and make them feel secure.

How to Make Your Dog Feel Safe In a Way They UnderstandInitiate Calm, Slow Breathing A pet parent helping their anxious dog relax by breathing slowly.

Getty Images Westend61

You don't have to use words to express to your dog that they're safe in your presence. One of the most underutilized tools a dog parent has is their own breath.

“Dogs are exquisitely tuned to human physiology, so when you intentionally slow your breathing and exhale long and audibly near your dog, you’re sending a parasympathetic signal they can actually feel and smell,” says Camp Bow Wow training specialist Molly Jespersen. “It mirrors the breathing pattern of a calm, non-threatened animal.”

This technique works for communicating with your frightened dog especially during thunderstorms, fireworks or other unexpected events that can quickly raise your dog's stress level. It lets your dog know you're their safe place.

Use a Settle Cue Cues can be a great way to communicate with your dog when they are nervous.

Getty Images LittleCityLifestylePhotography

No matter if you have a big dog or a little dog, if you want to show your dog they are safe with you, teaching them a cue can become one of the most effective ways to communicate that everything is alright.

"Teaching a dog a specific word like 'settle,' paired consistently with calm physical contact and a relaxed environment during training, creates an anchor," Jespersen says. "The more you use it, the word alone will begin to lower your scared dog's arousal because it’s been classically conditioned to predict safety and stillness."

According to our experts, this calming dog cue is especially helpful in unfamiliar places like the veterinarian's office or other public settings where your dog could use a familiar reminder to relax. In fact, it is one of the clearest ways to communicate trust in a dog-friendly way that they're understand.

Pet Them Slowly Showing affection can be one way you can make your dog feel at ease and safe.

Getty Images Oscar Wong

Sometimes reassurance doesn't require you to say anything to you pet at all. In some cases, your actions can be how you can make your dog feel safe and loved.

Petting is a great way you can help a nervous dog feel more relaxed since it's a dog trust-building exercise. Just slowly stroking your dog's neck to the base of their tail can help activate their body's natural relaxation response.

“It communicates physical presence, zero threat and full attention,” Jespersen explains. “This works best for dogs who are freeze-response anxious, meaning they shut down rather than react outwardly, because it reaches them in a way verbal reassurance simply cannot.”

Turn Your Body Sideways Your body language can play a big role in helping your dog feel safe, calm, and understood.

Getty Images Yuliia Pavaliuk

Dogs dog always understand the words "Don't worry, you're safe." Though, they can feel it through your actions. "Dogs rely heavily on body language, and even subtle changes in your posture can make a difference in if they feel scared or anxious or safe," Jespersen notes.

So, what's a way to show your dog you'll protect them? “When a dog is frightened or overstimulated, turning your body slightly sideways and dropping your eye contact communicates that you're not a threat and that the situation isn’t worth monitoring,” Jespersen instructs. “It de-escalates the energy of an interaction and is particularly effective when greeting a dog who is already on high alert.”

This form of human-dog communication means more to your devoted companion than you know as in the canine world, facing a dog straight toward with your shoulders squared can be perceived as intimidating.

Use a Low, Calm Voice Your tone of voice can influence whether your dog feels safe or anxious.

Getty Images Catherine Falls Commercial

How you say something to your furry family member often matters more than what you say. So if you want to help your dog feel calm, the difference can come down to your tone.

In fact, experts say using a slow, low-pitched voice, whether you're stretching out the word "good" or gently saying your dog's name, can help promote relaxation.

“High-pitched, rapid sounds trigger alertness,” Jespersen reveals. “However, low, slow sounds do the opposite.”

Because of that, speaking to your dog in this tone during naturally calm moments, like relaxing after playtime or drying off after a bath, helps your dog associate that sound with safety and comfort.

Go About Your Predictable Routine A familiar routine can help reassure your anxious dog that everything is OK.

Getty Images Chalabala

One of the most important ways to understand and respond to your dog in their own language is by repsecing their routine. Dogs thrive on predictability, especially after something stressful happens, so after a frightening experience, guide your dog through a familiar routine, such as a short sniff walk, a favorite chew and then quiet time beside you.

“For dogs with chronic anxiety, this is often more stabilizing than any single intervention because it answers the question their nervous system is always asking of ‘What happens next?'” Jespersen says.

By adjusting your behavior accordingly to put your dog's needs first, you communication to them that how they feel matters. This builds trust over time and strengthens your bond in a way they naturally understand and relate to comfort.

Say “Come Here” or “You’re OK” Using reassuring phrases can help build your dog's trust.

Getty Images Nikola Milosevic

Some of the most powerful ways to reassure your dog don't involve anything difficult. According to veterinarians, simple, familiar phrases like "Come here" and "You're OK" can help your dog feel safe.

"When used gently, 'come here' can become a comforting invitation rather than just a command," says veterinarian Dr. Sarah Wooten. "Dogs who are called over for affection, reassurance, play or a treat may associate the phrase with closeness and safety."

She adds that it's important not to use your recall cue only for unpleasant experiences like nail trims or leaving the dog park.

Likewise, saying "You're OK" can become comforting to your pet as well if they are scared.

“Dogs are very sensitive, so this phrase may become reassuring if the owner says it during mildly stressful moments in a steady, relaxed way,” Wooten continues. “It should not be used to force a frightened dog through something overwhelming, but it can help signal calm support when paired with safe handling.”

It's no surprise that the Bichon Frise is considered to be one of the best looking small dog breeds. After all, they are known for their fluffy fur. The best part is, that coat is low-shedding and has a fun, cloud-like texture that can be styled any way you like. But this petite pup has a personality people love, too. “This breed is known for being cheerful, playful, adaptable and affectionate,” reveals Liza Cahn, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance.

As a result, they enjoy being around people, making for a constant companion. "They are smart and generally good with children,” she adds. "They’re also portable enough to take on the go, too."

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Curious, playful, peppy
  • Weight: 10-20 pounds
  • Lifespan: 14-15 years
Maltese  A petite pretty dog running through the grass.

Talk about a pretty dog breed! The Maltese has a white, flowing coat that can be styled any way you please. They also have a doll-like look. While this pooch looks dainty, Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel, says it has a huge personality. “Maltese dogs can be far more spirited than their delicate appearance suggests,” she says. “They’re usually affectionate, playful and very attached to their owners, so they suit homes where someone has plenty of time for them.”

Warner says that this tiny and fluffy pup tends to be confident, despite its petite size, so expect your Maltese to hold its own. “Gentle training from puppyhood is important, especially for confidence, handling and learning to spend short periods alone,” she explains. “Keep in mind that Maltese dogs tend to respond best to positive, reward-based training.”

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Playful, charming, gentle
  • Height: 7-9 inches
  • Weight: Under 7 pounds
  • Lifespan: 12-15 years
Havanese A gorgeous Havanese dog sitting in the grass.

Another beautiful small dog breed that will turn heads? The Havanese! These pocket-sized pups are native to Cuba, but have earned a fanbase well beyond the island’s borders. Their silky coats can be cropped short or grown long and they have striking big eyes, which makes them stand out in a crowd.

While the Havanese is undeniably pretty, many people are especially drawn to the breed’s personality. “Intelligent and eager to please, these friendly little dogs are highly trainable and love learning new tricks,” Cahn says. “They form strong bonds with their family and are generally known to be good with children and other pets.” Another perk? The Havanese isn’t noisy, either, making this breed good for city life as well.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Intelligent, outgoing, funny
  • Height: 8.5-11.5 inches
  • Weight: 7-13 pounds
  • Lifespan: 14-16 years
Pomeranian A tiny Pomeranian with striking fur.

When it comes to pretty toy dog breeds, don't forget about the Pomeranian! This Instagram-worthy breed has a big, fluffy coat and smiling face that’s always photo-ready. They are also known for its puppy-like look that it maintains well into adulthood, making it one of the most popular small dog breeds to own.

This pup doesn’t shirk on the personality front, either. “Pomeranians are bright, bold and full of character,” Warner says. “They often act like much bigger dogs in very small bodies, and many are alert, vocal and quick to notice what’s going on around them.”

Warner reveals they are also “wonderfully entertaining,” but points out that their big personality needs some guidance. “Early socialization is particularly important for Pomeranians,” Warner suggests. “If they’re allowed to bark at everything, or are carried everywhere without learning to cope on the ground, their confidence can turn into reactivity.” However, since they are clever, Warner says Pomeranians tend to do well with short, fun training sessions, which is why they are often recommended by experts as great pets.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Inquisitive, lively, bold
  • Height: 6-7 inches
  • Weight: 3-7 pounds
  • Lifespan: 12-16 years

It’s hard to miss the Japanese Spitz, thanks to its fluffy white coat. This pretty breed has a tail that curls over its back like a plume, along with a distinctive “smile” on its face. Couple that all together, and this beautiful pup is hard to resist.

Don’t forget the Japanese Spitz’s winning personality, though, as this pint-sized furry companion is more than just looks. “The Japanese Spitz is loving, loyal and cheerful,” Cahn points out. “Intelligent and eager to please, these adorable small dogs enjoy spending time with their family and learning new tricks.” Overall, these pooches are not just tiny dog breeds with pretty coats, but they are also great with kids and other dogs, making them a good fit for many households.

The word “regal” is thrown around a lot to describe the Lhasa Apso as these cute pups have a flowing mane that’s silky and soft. “These small, elegant lapdogs are much more than a stunning dog breed though as they were actually bred as monastery watchdogs, and love to alert their families by barking,” Cahn says. So, if you want a little guard dog that is also gorgeous, consider one of these.

"This fluffy breed is also easy to train and forms deep, strong bonds with its people," Cahn explains, adding that they’re confident and somewhat independent, though, so you won’t have a teeny shadow following you everywhere. Instead, you'll have a loyal and dependable pup you can always count on.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Confident, smart, comical
  • Height: 10-11 inches
  • Weight: 12-18 pounds

They do have a silky coat that requires regular grooming, so be prepared with a good brush if you welcome one into your family.

“Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are usually sweet, affectionate and sociable,” Warner explains. “They’re naturally companionable dogs and often fit well into family life because they enjoy being close to people.”

While these gorgeous dogs are known for their high level of affection, they still require a routine, exercise and training, Warner expresses. “Cavaliers may look like lap dogs, but they’re spaniels at heart, so many enjoy sniffing, exploring and playing,” she says. "The good news is, these little dogs are easy to train."

Care and Use Tips

Given its unique design and rich scent, you’ll want to take a few extra steps to make sure you get the most out of your new candle. For the best burn experience, keep the following tips in mind:

  • The first time you light it, let it burn until the wax pool reaches the edges of the vessel. Wax has “memory,” so if it’s extinguished too early with a partial pool, it can prevent an even burn later on.
  • Trim the wick each time before lighting to remove any “bloom” from the previous burn. It's also recommend to keep the wick around 0.25 to 0.5 inches in length.
  • Always place the candle on a heat-safe surface and away from anything flammable.
  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, dust or other debris to ensure a clean, even burn.
  • As an extra layer of security, always check the bottom of the candle for additional instructions, including when to discontinue use.

Measuring 3 inches tall and 3 inches long, this compact and luxurious candle is a worthy home upgrade everyone can enjoy, one that looks just as good sitting on a shelf, office desk, coffee table or windowsill, whether it’s lit or simply elevating the room with its presence. Snag one now before it sells out, and while you’re at it, check out Hobby Lobby’s whimsical hummingbird wall decor and Wayfair’s beautiful glass hummingbird feeder for more charming home accents.

There's a special kind of heartbreak that comes with realizing your adventure dog is getting older.

Haddie has spent years as the kind of trail buddy people dream about. She's the reason her dad started posting on Instagram, and she's the reason he started hiking three to five days a week. That's not a small thing. For a lot of people, a dog is more than company. They're the little reasons you put on your shoes, get outside, breathe deeper, and keep showing up for yourself.

In the video, Haddie and her dad are back on the trail together, but this walk feels different. She's still there, still taking in the mountain air, still moving beside her favorite person. But she's slower now. Her dad explains that her hiking days are coming to an end, and you can hear how hard that is to say out loud.

It's easy to understand why. This was her favorite place. He remembers when she used to run all over the mountain, full of energy and joy, the kind of dog who made every trail feel like an adventure. Now, the next chapter will look a little softer. Instead of long days in the mountains, Haddie will be sticking to short walks around the neighborhood.

That might sound like a loss, and in some ways, it is. Anyone who has loved a senior dog knows the ache of adjusting their life around what their body can handle now. One commenter put it perfectly, writing, "Man, I feel this. My old girl is 13, and I think our camping trip over the 4th will be her last. It breaks my heart... hang in there."

That's the part people don't always talk about. Loving an older dog means grieving little changes while they're still right there in front of you. The slower walks. The shorter outings. The moment you realize they can't do the thing they love so much.

But Haddie isn't losing her adventure life completely. She's just trading summit days for sniffy sidewalks, big climbs for easy mornings, and mountain miles for the comfort of being loved exactly where she is.

Be honest: Have you ever changed a whole routine because your dog needed you to?

When dogs get too old for their favorite activities, the kindest thing you can do is change the adventure instead of ending it. Try shorter, flatter walks, let them sniff as long as they want, bring water, avoid extreme heat or cold, and watch how they feel after activity, not just during it. If they're sore, exhausted, limping, or reluctant next time, scale back. You can also replace long hikes with car rides, stroller outings, puzzle toys, gentle training games, or quiet visits to familiar places.

The American Kennel Club notes that walking can still be great low-impact exercise for senior dogs, but pace, weather, and comfort matter more as they age.

Haddie may be taking fewer steps now, but every one of them still carries a lifetime of love.
