Marilu Henner, the beloved star of a classic ’80s sitcom and acclaimed author, celebrates her 74th birthday today, marking decades of charm, talent and influence.

Born on April 6, 1952, she was raised in an artistic household. Her mom ran a dance school in the garage while her uncle taught art classes upstairs.

From a young age, she was unlike other children. Her parents later discovered that she had Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory, also known as hyperthymesia.

People with this rare ability can vividly recall nearly every detail of their lives, according to Medical News Today.

Henner’s unique ability has been her key asset in her success, first as an actress and later as a best-selling author.

Premiered on Sept. 12, 1978, it became a nightly favorite among viewers, bringing laughter and heart to households, from the familiar scenarios to the memorable ensemble cast.

Lead stars include Judd Hirsch as the grounded driver Alex Reiger, Danny DeVito as the short-tempered dispatcher Louie De Palma and Henner, who played Elaine Nardo, the single mother and aspiring art gallery worker who also worked as a driver to make ends meet.

The show’s popularity also brought the sitcom multiple awards, including  Golden Globe nominations for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series for Henner, making this her first acting nod.

Her portrayal also landed her consecutive Golden Globe nominations from 1979 to 1983.

Not only did she receive back-to-back nominations, but working with the sitcom made her feel like it was her “second family.”

“I think what makes the show great is the feeling we all have for each other,” she told The Central New Jersey Home News in 1979 as cited by Catchy Comedy, adding, “We have such a good feeling for each other, and it carries through the air."

Unfortunately, the show ended after 114 episodes and five seasons; the sitcom bid goodbye to the airwaves on June 15, 1983.

On the other hand, Henner discovered a new career path after a personal tragedy, which led her to a radical lifestyle shift.

The death of her parents inspired her to prove that many health issues can be managed, leading her to undertake a lifestyle makeover centered on a strict and health-conscious diet that includes plant-based and dairy-free meals.

Moreover, she has leveraged this knowledge to write books on health, nutrition and memory.

In 1998, she published Total Health Makeover, which became her first book to reach the New York Times Best Seller list.

After her first major hit, Henner continued with more book releases, including The 30-Day Total Health Makeover, a follow-up to her first hit book and another New York Times bestselling book, Total Memory Makeover: Uncover Your Past, Take Charge of Your Future, published in 2012.

Terry Crews and wife Rebecca King Crews revealed that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease years after surviving breast cancer.

"I feel good," King Crews said during her Monday, April 6, appearance on Today. "I’m able to write my name and my dates, and I’m able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years."

According to the breast cancer survivor, she was first diagnosed in 2015, after first noticing symptoms in 2012. King Crews recently underwent a procedure to help with the symptoms on one side of her body.

"I'm seeing improvement in my symptoms. I'm still in recovery. They say it's about three months of recovery," she explained. "As you recover, you see more improvement."

The mother of five explained that as her symptoms improve on one side of her body, she has become more "aware" of the struggles on the other.

"However, each day that I do things, I'm aware of the benefit that it's already given to me on one side of my body. So I'm excited to do the other side," she told Craig Melvin. "I really believe that this procedure and others like it are the new frontier of medicine."

The non-invasive procedure was not covered by insurance, but she hopes to make it more available to others.

"I see this as the beginning of the journey," the America's Got Talent host said. "Because to watch her go through what's she's gone through over the last 10 or 12 years, has been very very hard...To watch her write her name for the first time in three years, let me tell you man," he added, becoming visibly emotional.

As the old adage goes, big things tend to have small beginnings, and such was certainly the case for the universally beloved snack cakes known the world over as Twinkies.

While commonly hailed as the top-selling treat from Hostess, Twinkies were originally invented on April 6, 1930 by baker James Alexander Dewar. The dish was initially created for the Continental Baking Company, combining a rich sponge cake with a banana cream filling.

Amidst the tumult of World World II, banana imports into the U.S. all but ceased, forcing the company to begin using vanilla cream filling instead. To their surprise, the vanilla cream proved far more popular than banana, boosting sales significantly for Twinkies.

As a result, vanilla became the new standard for the golden snack cakes, with different variations of the treat incorporating chocolate and various other fruit flavors over the past several decades.

According to legend, the name "Twinkies" originated from a billboard Dewar saw in St. Louis for "Twinkle Toe Shoes." Perhaps because the snack cake resembled a shoe (or more than likely because Dewar simply liked the wording), the name was quickly incorporated for the baker's new treat, paving the way to one of the most popular snacks ever created in the U.S.

While Twinkies have become universally beloved among international consumers today, the treat wasn't always the worldwide delight it's become today. In the 1980s, the hit blockbuster Ghostbusters helped spread awareness of the treat among global audiences, due to a key scene referencing "a big Twinkie" as an analogy for the rapid build-up of psychokinetic energy.

In addition to its references in numerous movies and TV shows over the years, the treat has also formed the basis for an unlikely legal defense known as the "the Twinkie defense." The term specifically originates from the criminal trial of Dan White, who attributed his murder to depression excaberated by junk food like Twinkies.

Einstein was originally slated for CBS’ Fall 2025-2026 schedule, but has since been moved to the 2026-2027 season because CBS had too many series on its schedule, so moving Einstein gave it additional time to be developed.

New photos of Nancy Guthrie’s home are raising eyebrows online after appearing to show someone moving boxes from the property—but not everyone is convinced the images are real. Social media users quickly pointed out what they believe are signs of AI generation, including what looks like the same person appearing multiple times in a single image, sparking debate about the authenticity of the picture.

Looking closely at the photo, there appears to be three men carrying boxes out of the home. However, if you zoom in, all three men are nearly identical. Moreover, there are some inconsistencies with the front of Guthrie's home.

It didn't take long for social media users to point out inconsistencies in the photo.

"Fake picture. Nancy’s sidewalk isn’t concrete," one person wrote.

"Omg this is AI," someone else said.

"That’s AI. All the men the men look alike and the one on the left doesn’t have legs. Besides, why would he carry boxes off the walkway," a third X user pointed out.

"This picture doesn’t look right it looks like the same guy holding the kitchen box and fragile box and what’s the guy with the box doing in the dirt?" a fourth comment read.

Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Authorities believe that she was abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night. Despite ongoing efforts to locate Guthrie and find the person or persons responsible for her disappearance, the case remains open now 10 weeks in.

People live-streaming outside of Guthrie's home have witnessed boxes being taken out of the home, but it's been a few things here and there, and many believe that the family is taking some of Guthrie's personal items and belongings, perhaps for safe-keeping. There has been no indication that the home is being emptied or that it will be put up for sale.

Royal author Hugo Vickers says Queen Elizabeth advised Prince Harry to pause before marrying Meghan Markle, feeling their romance was moving too quickly.

In his new book Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History, Vickers claimed that the monarch believed Harry needed to take more time to get to know Meghan before marrying her. She suggested that moving more slowly would help ensure their relationship was built on a solid foundation.

The Daily Mail excerpted Vickers' book. The author met the queen dozens of times, offering a revealing look at her life, drawing on rare insider accounts and decades of personal observation.

"My new book is based on 60 years of observation and research, at first from afar (rather like a trainspotter or stamp collector) but gradually closer to the centre and more focused," Vickers explained.

When I think back to that day, she is fixed in my mind as a young mother of 42, with auburn hair and a blue coat, and her young son, Prince Edward, held by the hand," he recalled.

Four years after they wed and welcomed a son, Archie, the couple welcomed a little girl named Lilibet Diana. Elizabeth reportedly bristled at the fact that Harry and Meghan used her "intimate family nickname" to name their daughter.

During a recent media briefing reported by Mickey Visit, Natalie Katzka, Director of Attractions Engineering Services at Disneyland, shared that in fiscal year 2025, "13% of ride shutdowns were caused by guest behavior," a notable jump from the historical average of 10%.

Katzka noted that these incidents often involve "guests' loose articles, such as phones, mouse ears, water bottles, or backpacks, falling from a ride vehicle in motion." To combat the trend, Disneyland has implemented two major rule changes this spring to "help guests help themselves."

The Phone Ban on Runaway Railway

At Disneyland Park, the "no phones" policy on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is now strictly enforced. While the ride appears gentle, its trackless technology is incredibly sensitive. A dropped phone on a flat floor can be run over by a following vehicle, causing serious damage to the sensitive underside of the cars. Now, "cast members won't start the ride if a guest has their phone in their lap or otherwise not stowed in a secure place."

The "Stanley Cup" Shelf at Incredicoaster

Over at Disney California Adventure, the surge in popularity of oversized, insulated water bottles—specifically heavy brands like Stanley—has created a new safety hazard on the Incredicoaster. At 55 mph and upside down, a 2-pound metal bottle becomes a dangerous projectile. Disney’s solution? Guests can "no longer ride Incredicoaster with loose water bottles," and a dedicated shelf has been installed at the loading station for riders to leave their drinkware behind before they launch.

Universal Orlando’s New 2026 Locker Rules

While Disneyland is testing new shelves and phone bans, Universal Epic Universe has taken guest behavior and safety to a high-tech extreme. As you plan your trip, keep in mind that "loose article" rules at Universal are far stricter than Disney's.

At Epic Universe, three major rides—Monsters Unchained, Hiccup's Wing Gliders and Stardust Racers—require all loose items to be placed in lockers before you board. But the flagship coaster, Stardust Racers, takes security to a new level. Much like VelociCoaster and The Incredible Hulk Coaster, you must pass through a metal detector pre-boarding. This means absolutely nothing in your pockets—not even your phone or keys.

The 2026 upgrade? Facial Recognition Lockers. At Epic Universe, you no longer need to carry a paper ticket or your phone to open your locker. The system scans your face to assign and open your unit, ensuring that "loose articles" (including your ticket) stay securely stowed while you're pulling high G-forces.

In hindsight, there's really no wrong choice when it comes to ordering from Krispy Kreme's sprawling menu, whether you gravitate towards a classic Glazed Donut or an equally beloved Chocolate Covered Donut.

According a new press release from the company, Krispy Kreme will soon begin offering four new donut flavors in stores across the country. Starting April 7, fans can specifically order any one of the following menu items:

• (New) Hershey's Double Chocolate Doughnut –an Original Glazed donut dipped in Hershey's milk chocolate icing and topped with chocolate flavored butter creme.

• (Returning) Banana Pudding Doughnut – an unglazed shell donut filled with banana pudding Kreme, dipped in vanilla flavored icing, and topped with crushed wafer cookies and butter creme flavored dollop.
• (Returning) Original Glazed® Blueberry Cake Doughnut – an Original Glazed cake doughnut with blueberry flavor and blueberry flavored bits.

If that weren't exciting enough, Krispy Kreme is also rolling out their new Cookie Blast Latte, which includes cookie dough-flavored syrup mixed with chocolate sauce, topped off with whipped cream and a dusting of cookie crumbles for the ultimate cookie lover's beverage. The new latte is available in hot, iced or frozen.

The Discovery Beneath the Surface

The discovery took place in Kingston upon Hull, a historic port city known for its deep ties to trade and seafaring. Construction crews were working on a restoration project at Queen’s Gardens, an area that was once one of the largest docks in the United Kingdom, when they struck something unexpected buried beneath layers of soil.

At first, workers were unsure what they had uncovered. Due to its size and shape, some feared it might be an unexploded bomb. However, further inspection revealed the truth: a massive cast-iron cannon, nearly nine feet long and weighing over a ton.

A Cannon with a Story

Archaeologists later determined that the cannon likely dates back more than 300 years, placing it in the late 17th or early 18th century. This was a time when Britain’s naval power was expanding, and port cities like Hull were essential to both trade and national defense.

What makes the find particularly fascinating is its condition. Archaeologists observed that the cannon’s nozzle had been deliberately capped, suggesting it had been decommissioned. Rather than being discarded, it appears to have been repurposed, most likely as a mooring post used to secure ships at the dock.

Susan Hayward marked her place in Hollywood history after starring in a string of notable TV shows and movies.

Sixty-eight years ago today, Hayward became an Oscar-winning actress after taking home a major award at the 31st Academy Awards.

On April 6, 1959, she received her first and only Best Actress award, making this a long-overdue recognition for her 20-year acting career.

Her perfect portrayal of Barbara Graham, a real-life habitual criminal who was executed in California's gas chamber in 1955, secured her win at the coveted ceremony.

As she hit the stage to deliver her acceptance speech, the newly minted Oscar winner couldn't help but feel emotional, expressing her deep gratitude for her family and the whole team, and especially producer Walter Wanger.

It was also the only Oscar win for the movie after the 1958 noir film earned additional nods, including Robert Wise as Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography for Black-and-White, Best Film Editing, and Best Sound.

Before winning her first Best Actress recognition, Hayward had been nominated in the same category five times.

Her debut nomination came in 1947 for the movie Smash-Up: The Story of a Woman, followed by My Foolish Heart in 1949, With a Song in My Heart in 1952, and lastly a nomination for Best Actress in I'll Cry Tomorrow in 1955 before scoring her winning moment in 1958.

After spanning 35 years as an actress, Hayward stepped away from Hollywood and reportedly lived in Georgia with her husband, Floyd Eaton Chalkley.

At 55, she passed away in 1975 in her home in Beverly Hills, California. Her cause of death was linked to brain cancer that may have metastasized from a lung tumor.

Carb loaders were disappointed in 2025. Twice, King’s Hawaiian dropped its Ube Coconut Sweet Rolls online. Twice, the stock evaporated in under 120 seconds. Two Minutes of Absolute Mayhem

Last June, the brand launched a few batches of the ube rolls onto their site to see if anyone cared. They didn't just care; they went feral. The lavender rolls became a social media currency overnight, with people hunting for a taste of the island-inspired flavor that’s been a staple in Filipino bakeries for decades but remained elusive in the American bread aisle.

"We saw the incredible demand for our Ube Coconut Rolls in 2025 when we first unveiled them on our website and they sold out almost instantly," Raouf Moussa, CMO at King’s Hawaiian said in a statement. "In that moment, we knew we had something special and were determined to bring them to consumers as quickly as possible."

The speed of this rollout is a direct response to that rush to purpose. It took less than a year to scale a viral moment into a national grocery aisles.

What is Ube, and Why Are You Seeing It Everywhere?

For those unfamiliar with ube, it’s  a purple yam from the Philippines. It tastes like a combo of vanilla, pistachio, and coconut. It also happens to be a vivid jolt of violet.

The reason for the craze? They aren't dyed dinner rolls. King’s Hawaiian used real ube and coconut milk to get the earthy sweetness the root is known for. The goal was to get the same pillowy, cloud-like texture that Robert R. Taira created in Hilo, Hawaii, 75 years ago, just painted purple by nature.

Where to Score the Goods

The hunt moves from the keyboard to the deli section. The 12-count bags are hitting major retailers now. If you’re the type of person who needs a stockpile to survive the week, club stores are carrying 24-count twin packs.

"Our Ube Coconut Rolls strike the perfect balance of introducing something new while staying true to our roots," Moussa explains. "Inspired by the spirit of innovation that defined founder Robert R. Taira’s original bakery... this new flavor continues King’s Hawaiian’s tradition of baking beyond the expected."

Translation: They knew the standard rolls were great, but they also knew you wanted something that looked better on camera and tasted like a vacation.

Keep your eyes on the bakery racks. If history is any indicator, these things don't sit still for long. When a product sells out in two minutes online, the grocery store shelf-life is going to be measured in heartbeats, not days.

Monday, April 6 marked a significant move forward for the Guthrie family as Savannah Guthrie returned to Today for the first time in two months. Savannah had taken several weeks off from work following the apparent kidnapping of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since Feb. 1.

Shortly after Today's early morning segment, retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer took to X with a blunt message for the individual seen at Nancy's front door the night she disappeared. The comments highlight both the resilience shown by Nancy's family and the ongoing focus on the unidentified figure captured on surveillance footage.

"Savannah returned with lots of yellow and lots of smiles," Coffindaffer wrote. "She hasn't missed a beat. It's good to see that while Porch Guy to her mother, he did not take her spirit."

"Porch Guy, you did not win," Coffindaffer added.

Authorities have been working through thousands of tips and leads over the past 10 weeks in hopes of finding Nancy—and the person or persons responsible for her disappearance. So far, there hasn't been any significant movement in the case, though Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos maintains that the case has not gone cold.

Investigators say that Nancy was taken from her home in the middle of the night, just hours after having dinner at her daughter Annie Guthrie's nearby home. Despite the family's endless pleas and high reward offer, information about what happened to Nancy is still sparse.

Blake Lively isn’t letting her recent courtroom drama with Justin Baldoni get in the way of her family’s holiday. The actress recently posted a sweet Easter pic to her Instagram Stories, adding a pretty straightforward statement, “Momming always continues on.”

The partial dismissal of the It Ends With Us actress’s sexual harassment lawsuit against co-star Baldoni recently made headlines, putting Lively in the spotlight yet again. While a judge tossed 10 of her 13 claims, he did allow the other three to proceed. And that means Lively and Baldoni are looking at a May trial to address the remaining claims. 

Following the dismissal, Lively issued a statement on her Instagram Stories, writing, “The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit, but I brought this case because of the pervasive retaliation I faced, and continue to, for privately and professionally asking for a safe working environment for myself and others.” She went on to add, “the physical pain from digital violence is very real abuse. And it’s everywhere.” 

Baldoni filed a multi-million dollar countersuit against Lively, which was later dismissed. But the real-life courtroom drama hasn’t stopped the actress from enjoying time with her family. Over the holiday weekend, the Gossip Girl star posted a precious picture of a bunny-themed breakfast for her kids. The 38-year-old shares four children (James, Inez, Betty, and Olin) with husband actor Ryan Reynolds. Fans have to give the mom-of-four props for rabbit-shaped eggs. Whether she made the meal or not, this Easter feast is pretty genius.

Of course, Lively didn’t just show off the extraordinary eggs. The typed text over the photo, “Momming always continues on,” is the perfect sentiment on a special holiday. In light of her recent courtroom woes, Lively’s post proves that she won’t let the Baldoni drama (or the media circus surrounding it) get to her. It looks like Blake’s bunny breakfast is just part of her recent family fun. In late-March, Lively posted a cute carousel from a group trip, with the caption, “so grateful for the best week with my loved ones.” She continued, “Thank you @wrexham_afc and all the players and everyone who works at the stadium for the performance of a lifetime. Despite NBCsitcomFriends being an ensemble cast, Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, says there was no "vision" for her and “nobody cared about me," especially during the series' early days.

“There were certain parts of [my talent agency] that just referred to me as ‘the sixth Friend,'" she shared in an interview with The Independent. She added that “there was no vision for me, and no expectations about the kind of career I could have. There was just, like, ‘boy, is she lucky she got on that show’.” 

Phoebe was originally written as Monica Geller's (Courteney Cox) "ditzy" roommate before Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) moved in. Kudrow recently said the notion of "everybody" calling Phoebe "ditzy" was off base. “At the time, it was like, 'She’s such a ditz. How is it that you only play ditzes?' And I thought, Is she a ditz? To me, she wasn’t,” Kudrow told Interview Magazine.

“In 1994, it was like, ‘I love her. She’s such a ditz.’ And it’s like, yeah, okay, that was what a ditz was to us. Someone who wasn’t toeing the line," she asserted.

Kudrow continued, “At first, Phoebe was very, very far from me. It took a lot of work to justify the things she would say and do. Not in an irritating way—it was fun. Over the course of 10 years, a little bit of her came into me. I lightened up a little more and read some books on spirituality and things, just to try to understand her."

Throughout the series' run, Kudrow shaped and added depth to Phoebe, which ultimately helped her win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1998. She views Friends as a sort of launchpad for the myriad of other characters that she played after the series.

Stephen King's third published novel tops a Goodreads list of more than 2,000 horror titles, and the film it spawned remains one of cinema's most debated adaptations.

When Goodreads readers cast votes across a list of more than 2,000 horror novels, the title that landed at No. 1 was not a new release riding a wave of recent attention. It was a book published nearly 50 years ago: Stephen King's The Shining, which earned a score of more than 144,000 points from over 5,400 voters, Its nearest competition, ironically, came from the same twisted mind. In fact, six of the top ten are by King.

The Shining is King's third published novel and his first hardcover bestseller, a book whose success firmly established him as a preeminent author in the horror genre. The premise is immediately uncomfortable and claustrophobic. A struggling writer and recovering alcoholic named Jack Torrance takes a winter caretaking job at the remote Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rockies, bringing his wife Wendy and their young son Danny, whose psychic gifts (the 'shining' of the title), expose the hotel's accumulated evil. What follows is one of the most sustained portraits of a family disintegrating under pressure in American fiction, horror or otherwise. King drew on his own visit to the Stanley Hotel in 1974 and his personal struggle with alcoholism in shaping the novel.

The Goodreads list places The Shining ahead of the genre's most enduring titles. The runner-up is King's own It (1986), followed by his Salem's Lot at No. 3. Bram Stoker's Dracula holds the No. 4 spot, Pet Sematary is No. 5, and Miserylands at No. 6. William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist and Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, two of the most influential horror novels of the 20th century, rank seventh and eighth respectively. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, published in 1818, holds the No. 10 position.

The novel's ranking on the list is also a measure of its cultural longevity. The 1980 film adaptation directed by Stanley Kubrick was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2018 as being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. The film, starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall, grossed $47 million and has endured as one of the titles most consistently cited as among the scariest ever made.

It's one more focused on a father's love distorting into violence, and less on the hotel as a haunted-house set piece. That friction between the two versions has done little to diminish either. The Goodreads ranking suggests the novel, at least, has lost none of its power.

If you have a cruise booked for 2026, there's a new line item you need to watch for: the fuel surcharge. While the major U.S. lines have held off on these fees for nearly 18 years, a "perfect storm" of rising oil prices and global conflict has industry experts—and maritime attorneys—warning that the tide may be turning.

As of early April 2026, the global energy market is in a state of high volatility. Since the Iran conflict began on February 28, oil prices have spiked more than 40%. Brent Crude is currently trading around $109 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) has surged above $112.

These numbers aren't just statistics; they are "trigger points" written into the fine print of almost every cruise contract. As Cruise Radio reports, most major lines reserve the right to add a daily surcharge if oil hits a certain threshold—and we are currently well above them.

The surcharge isn't a "what if" anymore; it’s already a reality for some. In March 2026, Resorts World Cruises (operating Star Cruises and Dream Cruises) notified passengers of new fees up to $25 per guest, per day. Closer to home, Margaritaville at Sea has been collecting a $15 per night fuel supplement on sailings aboard the Paradise since 2024.

While the "Big Three" (Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian) are currently holding the line, their contracts are heavily weighted in their favor. Maritime attorney Michael Winkleman told MarketWatch, "the cruise contract is a powerful document entirely in favor of the cruise lines." Here is the breakdown of what those contracts allow:

• Norwegian Cruise Line: Reserves the right to charge up to $10 per person, per day if WTI tops $65.
• Carnival Corporation: Can impose up to $9 per person, per day if oil crosses $70.
• MSC Cruises: Has a cap as high as $12 per day.

Crucially, these surcharges can be applied even after you have paid for your cruise in full. For a family of four on a week-long sailing, that could mean an unexpected $250 to $280 bill waiting for them at the end of the trip.

Whether or not you see a charge may come down to your chosen line's "hedging" strategy. Royal Caribbean is currently the best-protected, having "hedged" (pre-purchased at a fixed price) roughly 60% of its fuel needs for 2026. Norwegian is also partially protected at around 51%.

Carnival Corporation, however, remains the most exposed. As the only major line that does not hedge its fuel, Carnival recently reported absorbing over $500 million in adverse fuel costs for the year.
