Walmart Is Selling a 'Super Soft' and 'Vibrant' Checkered Rug for Up to 50% Off

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 12:15am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Every space needs an eye-catching area rug that can take your space to the next level. Fortunately, Walmart's latest deals include incredible home finds at unbeatable prices, like this Berthmeer Shag Checkered Area Rug, which is currently up to 50% off.

The piece initially cost $100, but has been reduced to $50 in the 8-foot by 10-foot size, marking that offering as the biggest discount. You can shop the rug for as low as $15 though in the 2-foot by 3-foot size. It's currently available in eight sizes and nine colors, spanning from black and white to multicolored. However, some color and size combinations are already out of stock, so you'll want to hop on this flash deal before other customers beat you to it.

The rectangular design features a "vibrant" geometric checkered print pattern that had its moment in the mid-century modern era and is now having a resurgence. It's made of polyvinyl chloride, which is a material often used on rugs because it's hypoallergenic, flexible, and durable. The shag rug is under an inch tall, so there's very little chance of it getting in your way while walking. Just note that it's designed for indoor use only.

In order to care for the rug, it's recommended that you use a low-power vacuum or use a damp cloth to remove surface level stains and dust. If you'd like to deep clean it, use cold water with a soft detergent and allow it to air dry. Avoid using the washing machine in order to ensure the material holds its quality.

Shoppers say this bestselling rug has "exceeded" their expectations, adding that it's "super soft," "lightweight," "luxurious," and "magnificent" for any room. Reviewers placed it in their living room, bedroom, office, and guest room, so it's able to look good anywhere.

According to shoppers, the rug is vacuum sealed and delivered in a box that's easy to transport. Once opening, give the piece around 24 hours to settle and air out. Then you'll get that shaggy, "plush" feel.

Jerry O'Connell Joins 'Good Day New York' to Test Run for a Potential New Talk Show

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 11:46pm

He once played your favorite character in Rob Reiner's Stand By Me. Decades later, Jerry O'Connell is set to continue his talk-show career by co-hosting Good Day New York next week.

News anchor Rosanna Scotto will have O’Connell, 52, on Fox 5's program for the week to serve as a high-profile fill-in in the chair — which has been vacant since the recent departure of Curt Menefee. Meanwhile, the morning block's third hour will act as a trial run for a potential new daily talk show headlined by Scotto, 67, and O’Connell for the Fox Television Stations, Deadline reports.

An example of one such show that came out of these kinds of test runs is The Wendy Williams Show, which ran on Fox stations for 13 seasons. In summer 2019, the stations also did a test run for Jerry O, a talk show hosted by O’Connell, which ultimately didn’t move forward, Deadline also noted on Thursday, Feb. 19.

Scotto shared the O'Connell guest-hosting news on her InstagramFriday, Feb. 20. See below.

View this post on Instagram

There is an open spot in the Fox stations’ daytime lineup since The Wendy Williams Show's successor Sherri was recently canceled.

If successful, the Scotto-O’Connell program would run across the Fox stations, which include Fox 5 as well as outlets in the top TV markets such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

O’Connell has already appeared with Scotto on Fox 5 several times and has been a frequent guest co-host on Live with Kelly and Mark. He also was a co-host on CBS' The Talk.

O'Connell made headlines recently when he and fellow longtime actor Selma Blair were announced to be joining a new spinoff to the long-running action-drama series on CBS. S.W.A.T. Exiles, the upcoming 10-episode show, is led by star and executive producer Shemar Moore.

And of course, fans took note when O'Connell recently paid a sweet tribute to his Stand By Me director, who died on Dec. 14 at age 78. See the post below.

Truth About 'America's Next Top Model' Photos Revealed: 'The Whole Thing Was Orchestrated'

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 10:57pm

Former America's Next Top Model judge Jay Manuelhas offered even more insight into the controversial reality TV show following the recent bombshell Netflix docuseries Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model, now sharing the truth about the so-called "best photos" for the models each week.

On America's Next Top Model, the models would compete with photoshoots each week, and their best photos from that shoot would be compared and used to determine, at least in part, who would be staying on for the next week and who would be going home. However, Manuel has now alleged that those "best photos" weren't exactly what they seemed, particularly several cycles into the show.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Manuel explained, "The level of manipulation that went on with the photos, I mean, it was laughable. This is not in the documentary. Let's back it up to Cycle 3; I'm just going to say Cycle 3, for example. I selected the photos, and Tyra [Banks] saw the final CoverGirl ads and would think these are beautiful. Going into Cycle 4, it was asked of me, 'Hey, instead of just pulling the best photo, can you pull, like, the top ten?' And Tyra would look at the top ten, and I would suggest; I'd put a star on the one I'm like this is the one I think is her best shot and why."

Manuel continued, "Then, I started getting notes, 'Can you send us all of the film for so-and-so? Then, way down the line, when I had zero control, I wasn't a producer, literally they would say, 'We don't love this girl's film, but we need her to go another week.' Oh, the whole thing was orchestrated, and I'm not afraid to say it."

View this post on Instagram

Based on what Manuel has alleged, America's Next Top Model may not have been as organic, in terms of its competition, as it would have viewers believe. However, in light of the many topics covered in the new docuseries—from instances of body shaming to pressure for contestants to have their teeth removed and so much more—this is perhaps one of the less damaging claims that have been leveraged against the show in recent memory.

Keith Richards' Resurfaced Quotes About Fellow Rock Legend’s 'Pretentious' Music Are Turning Heads

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 10:43pm

Keith Richards is known to the world as a founding member, guitarist, and primary songwriter for The Rolling Stones. The iconic musician is also known for his to-the-point interviews, in which he shares unfiltered opinions on everything from his least favorite Rolling Stones album to his thoughts on music legend Bob Dylan and The Beatles’ album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Now, a resurfaced 2015 Rolling Stone interview reveals Richards’ thoughts on Bruce Springsteen’s famed four-hour concerts and highly regarded songwriting and guitar craftsmanship.

Keith Richards on Bruce Springsteen’s Concerts

In the resurfaced interview, Richards was quick to call Springsteen “a nice guy,” but had plenty to say about The Boss’ legendary performances. Richards said:

“I’ve met Bruce two or three times. We’ve had several good chats, usually at some release party or premiere, and we just end up in the corner talking. He’s a sweet guy, a nice guy. Mind you, I think four-hour shows really are way over the top. To me, a great rock & roll act does twenty minutes [laughs].”

When asked to share his thoughts on Springsteen’s music, Richards pulled no punches, stating, “Bruce? That’s a tough one, because I like the guy. But the music…I don’t know. I’m the toughest taskmaster of all time. I’m going to annoy a lot of people. Bruce? To me, it’s pretentious.”

Richards’ comments came during a period when both artists were at major points in their careers, though they have shared stages in the past, including performing "Tumbling Dice" together during a Rolling Stones tour stop in Newark.

Keith Richards’ History of Blunt Commentary

While Keith Richards’ comments about Bruce Springsteen may seem overly blunt, the Stones rocker is not one to hide his opinions about other music icons. Over the years, Richards has openly criticized fellow legends, once calling Bob Dylan “a nasty little bugger” and describing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band as a “mishmash of rubbish.”

Richards has even offered candid thoughts about his own Rolling Stones bandmates. In his 2010 memoir Life, he wrote of Mick Jagger, “It seemed to me he had really gone off the tracks. This is where I felt Mick had lost touch with reality.”

Keith Richards’ Legacy in Rock Music

Keith Richards may not hold back when sharing his thoughts on fellow rockers, but that blunt charm is part of what fans have come to expect from the Rolling Stones icon.

Famous for creating some of rock’s most recognizable guitar riffs, including "(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction," "Jumpin’ Jack Flash," and "Start Me Up," Richards’ longstanding musical collaboration with Mick Jagger is considered one of the most successful and enduring partnerships in music history.

Solo Career and Rock Persona

Richards’ talent is matched by his rock-rebel persona. During the 1960s and 1970s, his name became synonymous with the hard-living rock lifestyle.

In addition to his work with The Rolling Stones, Richards has released solo albums and collaborated with various artists. He also published the bestselling memoir Life in 2010, offering an in-depth look at his career and personal journey.

Keith Richards is known for his groundbreaking guitar riffs, enduring songwriting partnership, and status as one of rock music’s most iconic figures. His unapologetic lifestyle, paired with his unfiltered commentary, remains part of his enduring influence as one of rock’s most unique personalities.

Kate Walsh Pays Tribute to 'Grey's Anatomy' Co-Star Eric Dane: 'We Became a Family'

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 10:32pm

Kate Walsh is saying goodbye to her Grey's Anatomy co-star Eric Dane.

Earlier this week, Dane's family announced that the actor, 53, died "following a courageous battle with ALS." Dane had revealed his diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) only 10 months prior to his passing.

In the wake of his untimely death, Dane's friends, family and co-stars are sending their condolences and sharing fond memories with the actor. On Friday (Feb. 20), Walsh took to Instagram to pay tribute to Dane, who also appeared on her spinoff Private Practice.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

"I’m at a loss for words to try to express the sadness around Eric’s passing. First and foremost I am thinking of his girls and Rebecca and holding them in my prayers and my heart," Walsh began the post, which included photos of their years of friendship.

Walsh went on to reflect on the first time she worked with Dane and one of his earliest scenes on Grey's Anatomy.

She continued, "I literally remember my very first scene with Eric…an elevator scene at Seattle Greys 😊 So, so long ago. I believe it was his first scene on the show too and he was nervous. He was so handsome and I thought ‘but can this guy act?’ 😂 and of course he could, and did, and the rest is history."

Walsh also noted that one of the things she loved most about Dane was "his sensitivity and vulnerability" as well as his intelligence.

"He had the gravitas & old soul that made his work magnetic and made him a great friend off set," Walsh wrote. "In those early days of Grey’s, as with most network tv shows, we spent more time with each other than with anyone else and so we became a family of sorts and Eric was such a source of support and love."

She concluded the message by sharing Dane's mission to find a cure for ALS, which she called an "awful disease." Fans can visit the Target ALS Foundation for more information about how they can make a difference.

1966 Hit Ranked Best ‘American Rock Album’ of All Time

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 10:17pm

Nearly six decades after its release, Pet Sounds is still setting the standard.

The Beach Boys’ landmark 1966 album has officially been ranked the best "American rock album" of all time by Ultimate Classic Rock, reaffirming what generations of fans and musicians have long believed: Brian Wilson's studio masterpiece remains one of the most important records ever made.

Wilson's path to Pet Sounds began when he took control of the band's creative direction from his father, his record label and, at times, even his fellow bandmates. The Beach Boys had already built a reputation on sun-drenched harmonies and surf-pop hits, but Wilson envisioned something far more ambitious. Inspired by producer Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound," he began expanding his songwriting into lush, emotionally layered compositions that pushed well beyond radio-friendly formulas.

By the mid-1960s, and especially in the wake of The Beatles' evolving sound, Wilson set out to create what would become his defining work. Pet Sounds transformed the Beach Boys from chart-topping hitmakers into auteurs of studio innovation. Its intricate arrangements, unconventional instrumentation and introspective lyrics marked a turning point not only for the band, but for American pop and rock music at large.

"I had a feeling that we were going to make a legendary album," Wilson told Consequence of Pet Sounds in 2016.

Tracks like "Wouldn’t It Be Nice," "God Only Knows," and "Sloop John B" blended sophisticated orchestration with raw vulnerability. The album's emotional depth, which explored longing, doubt and youthful uncertainty, was a striking departure from the carefree themes of earlier Beach Boys records.

Pet Sounds became the centerpiece of Wilson's decades-long career and continues to unveil new creative voices every year. Its influence stretches across genres and generations, with countless artists citing it as a formative inspiration. Even today, the album's shimmering harmonies and layered production feel otherworldly, as if summoned from somewhere beyond the confines of traditional pop music.

In a 2016 interview with Vice, Wilson was asked what comes to mind when he looks back at Pet Sounds all these years later. "Love and harmony," he replied. "Those are both very important. It's a record that made me very proud."

Nearly 60 years later, its legacy and impact live on though modern rock and pop music, influencing every generation of artists that has come up listening to Wilson's masterpiece.

M&M's Has Crocs and More Festive Products Available for This Upcoming Holiday

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 9:45pm

Now that the winter holidays — including Valentine's Day — are behind us, it's time to look forward to what spring has in store.

Next month brings St. Patrick's Day, and what could be "sweeter than any pot of gold?" a beloved candy brand asks. M&M's has a number of festive offerings now available on its website in honor of the upcoming Irish holiday that remains ever popular in the U.S.

First, there are the sweets — no surprise there. The iconic candy-coated chocolates are now being sold in bulk, both as a mixed-color St. Patrick's Day option (in a pre-designed bag) and as single-color assortments, if that's more your vibe.

Plus, M&M's fans might recall the brand's unique collaboration with Crocs last year. The standout green pair by the popular footwear company is still available in certain sizes here, if you'd like to add a little pizzazz to your St. Patrick's Day getup come March 17.

Mars, Inc. had announced last September its limited-edition collection of two signature pairs of Crocs: a classic clog style and trendy platform, as well as a set of Jibbitz (the iconic charm sets). The M&M’S x Crocs Collection was inspired by the “unmistakable M&M’S color palette” and personalities of the legendary Spokescandies. It followed several related releases on the part of both brands, most recently M&M’s and Kate Space and Crocs’ partnership with Krispy Kreme.

In other holiday news, the Mars candy brand is bringing back its M&M’s White Chocolate Easter Marshmallow Treat flavor, a previous release with a revamped recipe. According to trusted food blogger Markie Devo, the brand’s crispy offering is in stores now.

“The Easter Bunny is bringing something new to Easter baskets this year! M&M’s White Chocolate Marshmallow Crispy Treat Easter Candy are the new Easter egg fillers everybunny will love,” the product listing reads. “Made with a marshmallow-flavored crispy rice center, covered in rich white chocolate in a pastel candy coating, these Easter M&M’S chocolate candy are an absolute Easter treat.”

Cheryl Burke Tells Critics to 'Back Off' Amid Commentary Surrounding Her Appearance: 'I Have Sunken-In Temples'

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 9:13pm

Cheryl Burke has been subject to criticism surrounding her appearance over the course of the past few years—and now she's clapping back at further commentary about how she looks.

The former Dancing With The Stars pro, 41, took to Instagram on Thursday (Feb. 19) to respond to comments about the shape of her eyebrows and how she chooses to do her makeup.

"For those that keep saying, 'Why do I have my eyebrows all the way down to my cheeks?' This is just my bone structure," Burke explained in the bare-faced video, adding that she wanted to clarify that she doesn't draw her brows all the way down to her cheeks as some people have commented.

Burke went on to say that she has "sunken-in temples" and it's actually a shadow and not her eyebrows that people have been noticing. Burke has noticed it too and says she's deciding whether she should get it cosmetically fixed.

"Debating whether or not to get filler. I'm leaning toward yes. So back off, okay? Thanks," Burke said.

She continued, "I realize that my temples are sunken in. It is what it is for now until I decide to pull the trigger and get filler. Until then, focus on your own face...Should we pick on your face now, huh?"

Followers have previously expressed concern about Burke's appearance after she lost a significant amount of weight. While Burke did confirm that she dropped over 30 pounds, she says it's not because she's ill or using weight loss drugs.

"The assumptions are exhausting as hell. The accusations are completely cruel," Burke said in a video on Instagram in 2025, adding in the caption, "Stop dissecting women’s bodies like they belong to you."

Instead of cosmetic surgery or drugs, Burke credits her transformation to lifestyle shifts, clean eating and regular activity.

Beloved R&B Icon Honored in Moving New Documentary

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 8:53pm

TV One is bringing a celebrated tribute to one of R&B’s most beloved voices to television this weekend.

The critically acclaimed documentary Luther: Never Too Much will premiere Sunday, February 22 at 6 p.m. ET/PT on TV One, honoring the life, artistry and enduring cultural impact of music legend Luther Vandross.

Hailed by critics and audiences as a moving and definitive portrait, the film offers an intimate look at the Grammy Award-winning icon whose unmistakable voice helped define the modern love song. Blending rare archival footage with reflections from friends and collaborators, the documentary traces Vandross’ journey from behind-the-scenes studio talent to one of the most celebrated vocalists of his generation.

The film explores the brilliance and ambition that fueled classics like “Never Too Much,” “Here and Now” and “Dance With My Father,” while also examining the quiet complexity behind the music that soundtracked decades of romance.

Vandross’ later years were marked by serious health challenges. In April 2003, he suffered a severe stroke at his New York City home that left him in a coma for nearly two months and temporarily affected his ability to speak and sing. Though he later regained much of his mobility and voice, he made only limited public appearances afterward.

At the 2004 Grammy Awards, he accepted Song of the Year for “Dance With My Father” in a pre-taped message, telling viewers, “When I say good-bye, it’s never for long, because I believe in the power of love.” Vandross died on July 1, 2005, at age 54, following a heart attack. His funeral at Riverside Church in New York City featured tributes from Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder and Dionne Warwick.

In the documentary, TV One will air exclusive vignettes throughout the broadcast, including insights from award-winning director Dawn Porter. Porter shares stories about the making of the film, including interviews with Jamie Foxx, Mariah Carey and Warwick, as well as the careful balance of honoring Vandross’ legacy while respecting aspects of his life he chose to keep private.

Luther: Never Too Much makes its TV One debut this Sunday at 6 p.m. ET/PT. Additional information can be found at tvone.tv.

1970s Country Icon’s Reimagining of an Alt-Rock Classic Ranked No. 1 All-Time 'Country Cover'

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 8:16pm

In 2002, Johnny Cash transformed a metal/rock hit into a song that would give him a final comeback before his passing at age 71 one year later.

That song was “Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails

The tune landed in Cash’s hands following a departure from his record label, Columbia Records, of 25 years. At the time, the Man in Black was fighting his way back from a drug addiction relapse, but his health was deteriorating, according to LoudWireIn the process of revitalizing his career, fate intervened with the connection of Rick Rubin, co-founder of Def Jam Records.

Cash and Rubin pulled together various songs for the country legend to cover, regardless of genre. Cash would focus on the lyrics of the songs, offering a bare-bones stripped-back take, with an acoustic guitar.

“When I sent [Johnny Cash] the Nine Inch Nails song, he just thought I was crazy,” Rubin shared of his suggestion to reinvent the track from NIN’s 1994 studio album The Downward Spiral, according to Whiskey Riff. “....It’s one of the only songs that I probably sent him three times in these compilations I’d send of songs to consider. I said….’ Just read the lyrics.’ And I think that’s what convinced him. [Johnny] said, ‘I’ll only do it when we’re together.'”

The Remake of the Song Appeared on His Final Studio Album

Widely regarded as one of his finest recordings, Cash’s remake of “Hurt” ended up appearing on his final album, American IV: The Man Comes Around. The track took the No. 56 spot on the Billboard Country Songs chart. Although it never claimed the No. 1 spot, the song became one of the most beloved performances of Cash’s career. With his timeworn vocals, he transformed the lyrics into something deeply personal, reshaping a song originally from the perspective of a young man spiraling into self-destruction into one of a man confronting the end of his life.

The Music Video Was Also a Success

In addition to the track, Cash released an accompanying music video that has stood out as a success all its own. Directed by Mark Romanek, the clip was shot in Tennessee at his house and the House of Cash Museum with video footage of Cash’s earlier years spliced into various segments. That music video resonated with audiences everywhere and received six MTV Video Music Awards nominations, as well as a Music Video of the Year award in 2003 at the CMA Awards and a Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video in 2004.

Flattered that Cash would consider cutting his song, NIN’s Trent Reznor, who penned “Hurt,” gave the go-ahead, and later spoke about Cash’s release of the music video, telling Rolling Stone, "We were in the studio, getting ready to work — and I popped it in. By the end, I was really on the verge of tears. I’m working with [Rage Against the Machine's] Zach de la Rocha, and I told him to take a look. At the end of it, there was just dead silence. There was, like, this moist clearing of our throats and then, ‘Uh, okay, let’s get some coffee.'”

Of the song itself, he said,  per The Alternative Press, via NINHOTLINE, “I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. Some-f—ng-how that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning – different, but every bit as pure.”

Cash’s cover of “Hurt” has been ranked at No. 1, beating out 29 other contenders on the ‘Best Country Covers of Non-Country Songs’ list in 2024, according to Taste of Country. Other artists who made the cut include Pam Tillis for her version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way,” Kenny Chesney’s rendition of Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is,” and Tim McGraw’s “Tiny Dancer,” an Elton John hit, just to name a few.

Elvis Presley Former Girlfriend Linda Thompson Shares Candid Review of 'EPiC' Movie

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 8:00pm

Linda Thompson is sharing her honest thoughts on the new Elvis Presleyconcert film.

After attending the premiere of the new Baz Luhrmann-directed film, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, earlier this week, Thompson took to Instagram to recap the event and deliver a review of the "spectacular" new concert movie.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

Sharing a montage of Instagram photos from the premiere in Hollywood on Wednesday, Feb. 18, Thompson wrote, "It was a night! Such a night!"

She then told her fans, "Take the family and go see EPIC to better understand why Elvis‘s legacy lives on decades after his passing."

Thompson, 75, gave her stamp of approval to the film, as she wrote, "this tribute to the king of rock ‘n’ roll by @bazluhrmann truly captures the passion, and the ferocity with which Elvis delivered his music."

View this post on Instagram

Thompson, who dated Presley for four years between 1972 and 1976, said she " ad a deeply sensorial reaction to the film’s ultra close-ups…sweat dripping…gorgeous eyes that penetrate the soul… and the depth of feeling that I vividly and viscerally remember Elvis was capable of."

"I was struck with gratitude for having actually been there and witnessed the electricity of his performances hundreds of times… & that I got to fall asleep with and wake up to this force of nature named Elvis Presley for years," she continued. "I was privileged to hear & to share his innermost thoughts and feelings."

Nothing that she was well-aware of "the icon and enormous talent" that Presley was, Thompson wrote, "To me, he was my very human love with all his strengths and weaknesses, nobility and fallibility, fortitude and frailty… loyalty and mystery…and so deeply complex in his simplicity."

"The editing of this film by Jonathan Redmond is nothing short of Spectacular," Thompson said while applauding all of those whose work went into the new film.

"So much of Elvis‘s unique character and personality are on display in this movie…And yet there was so much more to him… more years, more songs, more tours, more Aloha, more jumpsuits, more love… 💜🙏🏻 "

EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert released exclusively in IMAX theaters on Friday, Feb. 20, and will be followed by a nationwide release on Friday, Feb. 27.
