7 Best ’50s Fashion Looks, According to Celebrity Stylists

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 2:10pm

If you're into fashion at all, it's important to pay attention to vintage styles since everything old eventually becomes new again. Several trends from 1950s fashion have made resurgences as of late on the runway, so Parade spoke with celebrity stylists to learn more about what we saw in the '50s—and what we might see return once again.

When you think about '50s style, you might imagine heels and big dresses—and you'd be right. But not everything was super formal all the time. For casual 1950s women's fashion, "pants were becoming acceptable... with pedal pushers and blue jeans beginning to show up," says stylist JenniLee, who's worked with stars like Sheryl Crow and Rashida Jones.

Today's version of 1950s style is even more casual and relaxed than just adding pants in every once in a while, says personal and celebrity stylist Kim Appelt, who's styled for events like the Daytime Emmys and stars like Ginny and Georgia's Sara Waisglass.

"[The] 1950s style was about structure and femininity. Today’s trends are borrowing that structure but have loosened the reins to suit our desire for comfort," Appelt tells Parade. "So the fabrics have changed, and the way we style the same silhouette has become much more casual."

If we first go back to where it all began, we can get a better sense of how that vintage style informs our 2026 trends.

What Was Fashion Like in the 1950s?

"The 50s is one of my favorite fashion time periods, because it represented a sense of optimism after the war," says Canadian fashion designer Dalia MacPhee, who's dressed celebrities like Kate Flannery, Margaret Cho and more. She adds that "fabrics were richer, brighter and very detailed," and some dresses with full skirts could use up to 20 yards of fabric.

"[It] was a way of making a statement that the years of wartime rationing had ended and we could now afford 'fashion' again," MacPhee shares.

The full skirts were largely influenced by designer Christian Dior's "New Look," which debuted in the post-war late '40s, per Vogue. Vintage collector and celebrity stylist with Artists With Agency (AWA), Taylor Greeley, adds that the "New Look" introduced the famous "cinched waist" style as well. She calls the style of the '50s "ultra feminine," adding, "Many women were primarily homemakers at the time, so clothing was designed more for appearance than function."

Accessories were also in abundance in the '50s.

"Think brooches, cat-eye glasses, pearls and hats," she notes. "Big, statement costume jewelry made from Bakelite [plastic] or rhinestones was popular. Every woman finished a look with a pair of gloves."

Prints also leaned feminine, says Lee.

"Polka dots, gingham and floral prints dominated patterns during this era," she shares.

What Parts of ‘50s Fashion Are Coming Back in 2026?

Nikka Carolina Cei, who's helped style celebrities like Doechii and Bella Hadid, says that the cinched '50s waists are back and "most commonly seen today in corsetry, structured bodices and fit [and] flare dresses."

Full skirts can also be seen again.

"Many designers created full and midi-length skirts and dresses this season—myself included," says MacPhee.

Greeley adds that statement jewelry is also back this year.

"We are especially seeing the comeback of chunky bangles," she says. "Brooches have been trending for a while, but I think we will see more use of pins and statement brooches."

And Appelt notes that '50s trends can be seen today in more relaxed ways with "softer" fabrics and paired more casual shoes like "sneakers, ballet flats [and] loafers."

"We see the same silhouette [with] less effort," she adds. "The lesson from the '50s that still applies is that shape and waist placement matter, as does proportion. Modern style has adapted to keep the bones, [but] drop the costume."

7 Best 1950s Outfits, According to Celebrity Stylists1. Full skirts

Lee calls this 1955 outfit "a great example... [of] the Dior New Look silhouette that defined the era." She loves the combination of "the lady-like jacket, cinched waist and full skirt, topped with gloves and pearls."

Appelt says with full skirts coming back, the modern "variation of this look [is] with a drop waist and styled with tanks, tees and a pair of flats."

2. Cinched waists

Chaloner Woods/Getty Images

"This outfit really shows the focus on cinched waists in the 1950s, with the pattern being a nice added bonus," Cei says.

It goes to show that the hourglass silhouette wasn't only achieved with dresses. Even sweaters were often tailored to highlight the waist.

3. Shirt dresses

Chaloner Woods/Getty Images

Appelt says that shirt dresses—especially striped ones— were "very common" in this era.

"Buttons all the way down added style and practicality. The gloves, belt, tidy hair—very 50s controlled elegance," she shares.

She adds that shirt dresses are coming back into style, but in a more casual way.

"[They're] worn looser, and the biggest difference is perhaps the material used," she states. "Softer cotton and linens to give the look a more relaxed look and feel while still maintaining that classic vibe."

4. Flowy pants

These flowy pants achieved a skirt-like silhouette for this 1956 photo.

"I love that this look could easily be seen today in a street style image—a fitted striped sweater and drapey culottes," says Lee. "Only now they would be paired with a knee-high boot and a cropped bomber jacket."

5. Pencil skirts

"Towards the end of the '50s, the straight or pencil skirt showed up and created a balance to the full skirts that had dominated since Dior's 'New Look' a decade prior," says Lee.

6. Purposeful purses

George Marks

"I love how deliberate the purses were. They were an integral part of the outfit," MacPhee says of the '50s accessory. She adds that for women, purses were "a private, portable space that belonged only to her."

Still, "bags were tiny—either handheld or top handle styles," says Lee.

MacPhee adds that novelty handbags were seen in the late '50s, often shaped like books, phones or other "whimsical and impractical [objects]... not about domestic duty at all."

"Carrying one was a way of saying, 'I have a sense of humor, I don't exist only to be efficient,'" she says.

7. Bold accessories

"Truly amazing shot, and what the '50s fashion was all about," Greeley says of this 1954 Vogue photo. "I would totally style a client like this for a trip to the Hamptons. Classic red lip, bold hat and chic accessories. We will see lots of these bangles in 2026."

Cei is also a fan of the accessories worn in the '50s—and the frequent layering of items like cuff bracelets over gloves.

"[It] adds personality to the overall look, combining elegance with individuality," she shares.

Ultimately, Cei wants today's fashion to take inspiration from the 1950s with "the emphasis on elevated everyday clothing."

"We have the freedom to express ourselves as we choose in modern day," she adds. "Having the chance to wear perfectly tailored dresses and kitten heels to the grocery store makes every day living a whole lot more fun."

Costco's $17 Boho Sheet Set Has Shoppers Calling It a 'Great Buy'

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 2:05pm

"Boho" is one of those design words that can mean something slightly different depending on who you ask. For some people, it's all about earthy neutrals, woven textures and a lot of rattan. For others, it's colorful patterns, global-inspired prints and layers that look like they were collected over years of travel (even if they were actually collected during a very productive online shopping session—no judgment).

But the common thread is that it always feels relaxed and a little effortless. Because boho style gives you permission to mix, layer, and play, it doesn't demand perfection and invites you to settle in and get comfy. Who doesn't want their bedroom to feel like a cozy, free-spirited retreat?

South Point Home Fashions Microfiber 4-Piece Sheet Set in Beige, $16.99 at Costco

Costco

Costco sells this South Point Home Fashions Microfiber 4-Piece Sheet Set in five different colorways, but the beige feels the most boho, at least in my humble opinion. It comes with a fitted sheet, a top sheet, and two pillowcases if you purchase the full-size set (one pillowcase for a twin set). And at only $16.99 for either size set, it's a total steal of a bedding find.

Microfiber sheets are popular for a reason. They're made from super-fine synthetic fibers, which makes them incredibly soft right out of the package. That means you don't have to worry about any "break-in" period. Plus, they're also lightweight and wrinkle-resistant, which are both major wins in my book.

This print is almost like you're giving your bed its own spring wardrobe refresh. The set is light and airy, just like we hope the next incoming season will be.

In fact, a Costco shopper basically says just that in her review of the set on Costco.com.

"These bed sheets are soft to the touch and feels great during spring and summer," they wrote. "They hold up very well after cold water wash. Recommended!"

Another reviewer is thrilled that they solved a common (and pesky) bedding problem.

"The most important feature I was looking for was that the fitted sheet stayed on our thick mattress with a topper," they wrote. "I've had expensive cotton high thread count sheets before and had been a struggle for that matter. This set of sheets was at an exceptional low price in the warehouse and I decided to give it a try after I was able to touch and feel the material. So glad I did! The quality met the expectation of the price paid."

Pick up a set in whichever colorway suits your fancy—just note that the largest size available is full.

Teyana Taylor Wins the 2026 BAFTAs Red Carpet in a Dramatic Burberry Trench

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:59pm

Between Teyana Taylor’s looks at the 2026 Grammys, Golden Globes, and Critics’ Choice Awards, we didn’t think it could get any better … but of course, it did.

Taylor, 35, arrived at the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026 at The Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, February 22, in London, England, in a dramatically stunning trench by Burberry’s Daniel Lee.

The exaggerated collar of the plum piece appeared to be a nod at Elizabethan fashion. Moreover, her Tiffany & Co. jewels, including their signature Bird on a Rock Brooch, played up the royal feel of the look.

“Teyana is the epitome of femininity and strength, and we wanted the look to be a reflection of her,” Daniel Lee told British Vogue. “My favorite element is the collar, which was shaped to resemble a rose through layering of the silk duchesse — the sculptural softness contrasts well against the trench silhouette.”

Taylor has been an industry focal point this awards season for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. The performance earned her a Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actress and an Oscar nomination.

One Battle After Another also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, and Benicio del Toro.

37 Years Ago Today, Rap Won Its First Grammy Award

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:43pm

It’s hard to imagine now, but there was a time when rap didn’t have a category at the Grammys.

That changed on Feb. 22, 1989, when DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh PrinceJeffrey Townes and Will Smith—won the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for “Parents Just Don’t Understand.”

The track, from their 1988 album He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper, had already crossed into the mainstream, peaking at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning Gold certification. But its Grammy win marked something bigger than chart success. It was the Recording Academy’s formal acknowledgment that hip-hop was no longer a novelty, it was a defining force in American music.

“Parents Just Don’t Understand” played like a three-minute sitcom. In the first verse, Smith recounts being humiliated on the first day of school after his mother buys him hopelessly uncool clothes. In the second, he borrows his parents’ Porsche without a license, tries to impress a girl and ends up arrested. It was funny, accessible and relatable—and it helped bring rap into suburban living rooms.

But the historic win came with controversy. The rap award was not presented during the televised broadcast, prompting DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince to boycott the ceremony. Fellow nominees LL Cool J and Salt-N-Pepa joined in protest. Salt-N-Pepa later issued a blunt statement: “If they don’t want us, we don’t want them.”

Even so, the category stuck. Within a few years, it expanded into multiple rap awards. Decades later, artists like Jay-Z, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar would dominate the field. Lamar leads all nominees in the category with 12 nominations and eight wins.

But it started here—with a teenage anthem, a gold trophy and a genre demanding to be taken seriously.

‘Stranger Things’ Star Noah Schnapp Cheered for Canada as USA Won Gold

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:38pm

The biggest rivalry in international hockey delivered exactly the kind of drama fans expect. Team USA defeated Team Canada in a tense overtime thriller at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics on Sunday, February 22, securing the men’s hockey gold medal with a 2–1 win — the country’s first Olympic gold in the event in decades. But while the game itself dominated headlines, a familiar face from Hawkins, Indiana sitting in the crowd quickly became part of the conversation.

Photos of Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp — decked out in full Team Canada gear, his father seated beside him — began circulating online. For many viewers, seeing a recognizable American TV star cheering against the red, white, and blue during one of hockey’s most emotional matchups was enough to ignite a frenzy across social media.

"I'm so superstitious that yes, it was Noah Schnapp's fault Canada lost," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "We should've known Canada was gonna lose the second Noah Schnapp showed up in their jersey," another added, while a third said: "Somehow this is Noah Schnapp's fault."

— MCSoul67 (@MCSoul67) February 22, 2026

Not everyone was sympathetic to the Canadian side, either. One individual noted that Schnapp is a "dual U.S.-Canadian citizen who made millions off of the American people, rooted for Team Canada in the Gold medal game despite never actually living there," adding that watching him witness the loss made the gold "so much sweeter."

Despite the noise, Schnapp, 21, cheering for Canada isn't the betrayal it looks like on the surface. In a 2017 interview with the Montréal Canadiens’ official site, the New York City–born actor said he also has Canadian citizenship and that his “whole family” lives in Montreal. He also called himself a “true-to-heart Habs fan,” adding that his connection to the city is “very personal.”

Katherine Heigl Shares Tribute to Late 'Grey's Anatomy' Star Eric Dane: 'God Speed My Old Friend'

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:31pm

Katherine Heigl is paying tribute to her late Grey's Anatomy co-star Eric Dane, who died on Thursday after his public battle with ALS.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the actress shared a photo of her and Dane and explained that while she prefers to grieve privately, she didn't want her silence to be perceived as "lack of care."

"I debated this post for days. I have never been comfortable grieving publicly," she wrote. "I share my tears, my stories and my memories with those I’m closest to and more times than not I share them only with the heavens alone. But that silence can often look like a lack of care which I could not abide here."

View this post on Instagram

Heigl, who starred on the hit show alongside Dane in the show's early seasons also mentioned his wife and children.

"Rebecca, Billie, Georgia… There is so little, if in fact anything, one can say about a tragic loss like yours. All the “I’m sorries” and “ my prayers are with you” ring a bit hollow in the midst of so much pain and grief," she said and proceeded to share a poem by Robert Frost that had previously brought her comfort.

"I will never forget Eric’s gold and I will forever be grateful I got to bask in it for even a brief moment in time," she conclude. "Thank you for sharing him with us. God Speed my old friend…here’s to your next great adventure."

Other Grey's Anatomy co-stars, including Jensen Ackles and Patrick Dempsey, also shared tributes to social media following the actor's death.

The show's creator and director Shonda Rimes also took to Instagram to honor the late actor who played Dr. Mark Sloan, aka "McSteamy."

“Eric Dane was a beloved member of the Shondaland and Grey’s Anatomy families. He was truly a gifted actor whose portrayal of Dr. Mark Sloan left an indelible mark on the series and on audiences around the world,” she wrote.

“We are grateful for the artistry, spirit, friendship and humanity he shared with us for so many years," she added. "Our hearts are with his family, loved ones, and all who were touched by his work.”

In the days since Dane's death, Netflix has released the final interview from the actor as part of the series, Famous Last Words.

The Rhode Island Way To Make Pizza 10x Better

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:27pm

Three things in life will make a local defend their state to the death: sports, weather and food. And if you’re lucky enough to live somewhere that’s actually respected for the last one, that list usually gets narrowed down into three even more serious categories: burgers, sandwiches and pizza.

There’s no shortage of buzz (and debate!) around America's pizza capitals. Chicago has its deep dish devotion (and yes, the arguments about whether it’s “pizza” or “casserole” are eternal); Connecticut has its coal-fired “apizza,” where the crust is blistered and the toppings are optional; and New York City will always be the blueprint for the thin-crust, extra-large slice—glossy with grease and meant to be folded in half on the go.

But don’t leave the smallest state out of the conversation. Rhode Island has one of the most underrated and fiercely defended pizza styles on the East Coast: Rhode Island pizza strips. Also known as bakery pizza, party pizza or the beloved party pie, it's a staple intended for snacking at graduations, backyard parties and every gathering where paper plates and folding tables show up.

Never heard of this saucy little snack? Let’s just say it’s humble, unfussy and weirdly addictive. It’s the kind of thing you try once, then somehow find yourself going back for “one more” until the whole box disappears. And if you question this state specialty in front of a Rhode Islander, just know you’re entering a very heated debate (and you probably won’t win).

To break it all down—including where it came from, what makes it a true local classic and where to get the best ones—we spoke to chefs and bakery owners who know this iconic Ocean State staple inside and out. Ahead, everything you need to know about Rhode Island pizza.

What Is Rhode Island Pizza?

To really understand Rhode Island pizza, let’s start with what it isn’t. It's not your average triangular slice, hot out of the oven, weighed down with stretchy mozzarella (or any cheese at all, for that matter). Rhode Island pizza skips the cheesy topping entirely and aside from its bright red sauce, it’s basically doing its own thing—different shape, different vibe, different flavor.

According to Michael Manni, owner of LaSalle Bakery in Providence, it’s unlike any other pizza. “For starters, it’s served at room temperature, always in strips and it doesn’t have melted mozzarella cheese on top—although you can add Parmigiano cheese,” he tells Parade. And that’s where the list of toppings ends. Full stop. No pepperoni, no mushrooms, no last-minute drizzle of anything. In a Rhode Island bakery, asking for extra toppings isn’t a customization request—it’s blasphemy.

LaSalle Bakery / Courtesy NMillard-GoProvidence

“It is just the flavor of a perfectly seasoned sauce and quality dough,” Manni explains. “Our pizza has to have a crispy crust and then it’s sauce, dough, with or without grated cheese, cut in a rectangle—that’s it.”

Multiple-time James Beard Award semifinalist chef Kevin O’Donnell of Giusto and Mother Pizzeria in Newport and Providence takes it even further, describing Rhode Island pizza as a deceptively simple local classic. “It’s such a simple thing, so the ingredients and execution both have to be on point,” he says.

For him, that means quality canned tomatoes (he swears by Bianco Di Napoli), good tomato paste (and estratto di pomodoro, aka sun-dried Sicilian tomato paste), fragrant Sicilian oregano (from Gustiamo), bold extra virgin olive oil (Olio Verde from Sicily is his favorite), plus kosher salt and garlic, all baked on top of a focaccia-like dough.

“Many people put sugar in the sauce, but I don’t think that’s necessary as long as you use good tomatoes,” he adds.

What Is the History of Rhode Island-Style Pizza?

Like a lot of truly genius food inventions—Connecticut’s steamed cheeseburgers, New York’s black-and-white cookies and New Orleans’s po’boys—Rhode Island pizza strips don’t come from some perfectly polished origin story; they come from necessity and, more importantly, from people refusing to waste good dough.

“From my understanding, bakers would have extra dough, so they threw some tomato sauce on it and sold it as is,” explains Melissa Laplante, owner of Vienna Bakery in Barrington, Rhode Island. “Some added grated cheese, some did not.”

It makes total sense: bakeries already had the ovens blazing, the dough was ready to go and the sauce was easy. Add one to the other, bake it off in a sheet pan, slice it up and suddenly you’ve got an easy, affordable snack that feeds a crowd.

And because it’s sold in strips or squares and meant to be eaten at room temperature, it quickly became the ultimate casual party food—something you could put out on the table for people to grab as they walked by. It's simple and easy and crowd-pleasing.

O’Donnell is also quick to connect Rhode Island-style pizza strips to Italy’s famed sfincione. “This focaccia-like pizza is served as a street food in Palermo and was most likely brought to Rhode Island in the early 1900s with the large waves of Sicilian immigrants,” he shares. “The word ‘sfincione’ is derived from a local dialect word for a sponge, which refers to the light and airy dough and it’s basically the same thing as RI party pizza.”

How Rhode Island Pizza Strips Are Made

If you’ve never had pizza strips before, the process is refreshingly straightforward—but there’s still a technique to getting it just right. Manni says it all starts with a well-oiled full sheet pan and a properly rested dough. The dough is stretched all the way to the corners of the pan (at LaSalle, they use a sheeter to stretch the dough), then left to rest for about 20 minutes.

Next comes the part that ensures the pizza strips bake up with the right texture: Manni says you “knock out” the air with your hands as you re-stretch the dough back into the corners of the pan, then dock the remaining air bubbles with a docking tool. From there, the dough rests again before the sauce goes on.

When it’s time to bake, Manni emphasizes that oven prep matters just as much as ingredients. “Make sure the oven has been on for a while at temp,” he says. But because pizza strips use a thicker dough and a generous layer of sauce, Manni warns against blasting the heat too high for too long. “You will burn the top of the crust before the bottom is done,” he explains. His fix: lower the oven temperature during the last 15 minutes of baking so the bottom can finish properly without overcooking the top.

Once the pizza's done, all that’s left is slicing—traditionally, into those signature strips. As Manni puts it, grab a razor blade and cut it up evenly, because a Rhode Island pizza strip isn’t a pizza strip until it looks like one.

Is Rhode Island Pizza Even Pizza?

To those who know it, love it and crave it: absolutely. And be forewarned—you’re spewing fighting words the second you question a Rhode Islander about the legitimacy of their pizza.

Because here’s the thing: Rhode Island doesn’t just have one pizza identity. Yes, bakery pizza (aka pizza strips, party pizza, party pie) is the cult favorite, but it’s sharing the stage with other local heavy-hitters, too. Think Greek-style pizza (thick, airy crust baked in a pan with that signature crispy, almost fried bottom) and the state’s “pizza by the slice” institutions that locals swear by. We see you, Fellini Pizzeria, Nice Slice and Antonio’s Pizza.

“I grew up on bakery pizza and have a soft spot in my heart for some of the institutions that have made this style famous in our region,” says Rob Andreozzi, owner and chef of Pizza Marvin in Providence. “It’s very nostalgic. It’s rare to go to a party around here and not see one there. Someone always brings one.”

Still, he’s the first to admit that not all bakery pizza is created equal—especially these days. “I do think bakery pizza today has morphed into a version that is one of convenience rather than one of technique,” Andreozzi explains. “Its origins point back to southern Italian immigrants who came here and opened bakeries and made a style of Sicilian pizza called pizza rosa.”

At Pizza Marvin, Andreozzi takes inspiration from that earlier, more traditional version. “Our dough is a four-day process and made with freshly milled flour,” he says. “We use high-quality extra virgin olive oil and great local tomatoes. It’s all about the ingredients for us and figuring out how to not get in the way.”

The result is something that feels instantly familiar, but not stuck in the past. “I think we have ended up with a product that nods toward nostalgia, but is a bit elevated,” he adds.

Where Can You Find Rhode Island Pizza?

Take one look at Reddit’s hotly debated thread on the topic and you’ll see just how passionate Rhode Islanders are about bakery pizza. Aside from the aforementioned LaSalle’s and Vienna Bakery, we asked Rhode Island native and food writer Andrea McHugh, to weigh in on where to find the best of the best.

"Some of the best are from Silver Star Bakery in Providence, Venda Ravioli in Providence, DePetrillo's Pizza & Bakery (they have multiple locations), The Original Italian Bakery in Johnston and Colvitto’s in Narragansett," she shares.

And we can’t forget D. Palmieri’s Bakery in Johnston, another local treasure. Mention it on Reddit and people don’t just recommend it—they basically pledge allegiance to it, with one Rhode Islander declaring, “D. Palmieri’s on Killingly is the only answer.”

Can You Make Rhode Island Pizza Strips at Home?

Like most regional staples, pizza strips are one of those things that just hit different when you’re eating them the way they were meant to be eaten: from an actual Rhode Island bakery, in a paper bag or box. The crisp-edged dough, the punchy sauce, the room-temp simplicity—it’s hard to beat the real deal.

That said, if you want to hack it at home, Manni recommends starting with bakery-made dough. Grab a ball from LaSalle Bakery (or another local bakery you trust), then make your own sauce and bake it in a sheet pan until the bottom is crisp and the sauce is set (it will be deep red and have a matte finish).

Daniel Radcliffe Had the Sweetest Reaction After Seeing Photos of the Cast of HBO's 'Harry Potter'

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:24pm

Daniel Radcliffe is passing the Harry Potter torch, so to speak. The actor, 36, said goodbye to the role of Harry Potter in 2011 and has since moved on to other projects. However, in April 2023, HBO announced that it was developing a new television series based on the popular series.

With a whole new cast coming to television screens in early 2027, Radcliffe was recently asked how he felt after seeing photos of the new cast, especially the lead roles, which will be played by Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger) and Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley).

"We have all said, you know, you just see pictures of these kids and you just want to grab them and hug them. That's the impulse that I think that we, mainly, all have," Radcliffe told People magazine of how he's feeling along with his co-stars, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

"It's one of those where I think we all just know how the others feel, because we're also feeling it," he continued, later adding, "When you're 11, and you're doing something, you're like, 'Of course, I'm old enough to do this — I'm the oldest I've ever been.' But now when I meet 11 year olds, I am like, 'Whoa, that seems nuts.' It puts into perspective."

"Honestly, it makes me admire — and I do tell them this — but my parents, more than I was capable of doing at the time. Just going like, 'Wow, you got me through something crazy, and you did it with a huge amount of humor,'" he said.

Longtime Harry Potterfans seem to have mixed reactions on the release of the new television series. While many are excited to relive the magic from a fresh perspective, others are hoping that the story as they know it won't be tainted in any way.

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:22pm

Now that’s a talented couple. Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams made their red carpet debut at the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026 at The Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, February 22, in London, England.

Mescal, 30, who’s nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as William Shakespeare in Hamnet, wore a black suit paired with a collarless white button-down cuffed at the sleeves. For her part, Abrams, 26, looked stunning in a dark brown Chanel gown adorned with a floral pattern.

The Normal People actor and the “I Told You Things” singer were first romantically linked in June 2024. Although their relationship started off fairly private, the lovebirds have opened up more about each other in recent months,

In January, Abrams gushed over Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao, via Instagram Stories.

“I’ve found it nearly impossible to find the words to describe the weight of this film and the way it has remained in my bones since I saw it for the first time, but we are sat in the kitchen right now and I am looking back on these pictures and got immediately teary, so I’m just going to say that Chloe is singular. Jessie is singular. Paul is singular. Thank god for what they made. Go see it, and you will be better off,” she wrote, also referring to Jessie Buckley, who played Agnes Shakespeare

Earlier this month, Abrams also posted a sweet tribute on Instagram to Mescal for his 30th birthday.

‘70s ‘What’s Happening!!’ Stars Look So Handsome on the Red Carpet Almost 47 Years After the Series Ended

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:19pm

What's Happening!! was one of the most popular sitcoms in America back in the '70s, and two of its stars, Ernest Thomas and Haywood Nelson, looked extremely handsome during a recent reunion on the red carpet.

What's Happening!! premiered back in 1976 and followed the ups and downs in the lives of three Black teens in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Watts. Thomas knocked it out of the park as lead character Raj, while Nelson shot to fame as his dear friend Dwayne. The trio was rounded out by the memorable Fred Berry as Freddy "Rerun" Stubbs. (Sadly, Berry passed away in 2003.) The series dealt with common issues that teens face, ranging from divorce and friendship struggles, making it relatable for the masses in the following decades as it continued on in a flurry of reruns.

These days, Thomas and Nelson are still going strong, and hit the red carpet looking dapper together to attend "This Joint Is Jumpin: A Celebration Of Black Entertainers From Film, TV And Song Honoring Black History Month" at The Hollywood Museum last week. Seeing as their roles will go down in sitcom history, it's great to see them looking as handsome as ever in 2026.

Losing What's Happening!! Star Danielle Spencer

Danielle Spencer was another essential component of What's Happening!!, and she sadly died of cancer in 2025 at age 60. In an Instagram post, Nelson honored the beloved star, who played Raj's little sister Dee on the series, and went on to a successful career as a veterinarian.

"Dr. Dee, our brilliant, loving, positive, pragmatic warrior, without fail, has finally found her release from the clutches of this world and a body,” he wrote. “We celebrate Danielle Spencer and her contributions as we regret to inform her departure and transition from a long battle with cancer.”

Nelson continued to honor Spencer by saying, “We have lost a daughter, sister, family member, What’s Happening!! cast member, veterinarian, animal rights proponent and healer, and cancer heroine. Our Shero. Danielle is loved. She will be missed in this form and forever embraced.”

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes Sued for Trademark Infringement

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:14pm

Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomesare facing a trademark infringement lawsuit from a sneaker company.

Kelce, Mahomes, and their restaurant partners for 1587 Prime were sued by the company 1587 Sneakers alleging trademark infringement.

Kelce and Mahomes opened 1587 Prime last year in partnership with Noble 33. The restaurant name is derived from the players' jersey numbers.

According to a report published by ESPN on Friday, Feb. 20, 1587 Sneakers started selling their products in 2023 but did not apply for the "1587" trademark until Oct. 2025. The trademark application is reportedly still under review by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Kelce and Mahomes applied for their trademark in 2023 and it falls under the bar and restaurant category whereas 1587 Sneaker's trademark is under clothing.

"I think it’s a tough case for the sneaker company," trademark attorney Josh Gerben, who does not represent either party in the case, told ESPN. "Trademarks can coexist in different industries. … Given that the marks are essentially identical here, is a restaurant and a shoe company too close? Are consumers likely to be confused in thinking they are affiliated with one another?"

The sneaker company is alleging infringement not only on the identical names but also because 1587 Prime sells clothing along with food. They claim that customers have reached out to the company under the impression it is affiliated with Kelce and Mahomes' restaurant.

"From the onset, we have communicated a sincere belief that there is room for mutual respect and understanding," Adam King, 1587 Sneakers co-founder, wrote in a statement to ESPN. "That belief has not changed, and we continue to hope to resolve this matter amicably."

Iconic Broadway Shows Canceled Amid Massive Winter Storm

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 1:14pm

In preparation for a massive winter storm, Broadway theaters have been forced to cancel a handful of shows on Sunday evening. While the theaters initially intending to remain open, with reports worsening surrounding the impending blizzard, the Broadway League has reversed their previous decision.

As of this morning, all Broadway shows with curtain times past 3 p.m. have been canceled, with the exception of the musical Operation Mincemeat, which was still originally on for 7:30 p.m. Operation Mincemeat, a spy thriller musical comedy, debuted in March of 2025. Production was hoping to continue as scheduled as it would have been the last show ever to be performed by the original cast. Unfortunately, as of 1 p.m., the Broadway League confirmed that the show would also be cancelled due to safety protocols.

The incoming snow storm has been forecasted to produce over 24 inches of snow over the New York City metropolitan area throughout Sunday evening and Monday. Accompanied by heavy winds and a wintery mix, The National Weather Service predicted the blizzard could be the biggest snowfall the city has seen in over a decade.

Among the shows that have been canceled are new productions including revival shows of Chess and Ragtime, as well as Every Brilliant Thing with Daniel Radcliffe. Mainstay shows have also been canceled due to the unprecedented weather event, including Broadway hits like Wicked, The Lion King and Aladdin

The cancellations were confirmed in a statement made by the Broadway League, which represents theatre owners and producers.

“Due to anticipated travel impacts from the impending blizzard and evening travel bans already announced for our surrounding areas, Broadway theatre owners and producers have come to the consensus that evening performances (curtain times at 6pm or later) tonight (Sunday, February 22) will be canceled," said the Broadway League.

The Broadway theaters will resume operations after the storm.

Sharon Osbourne Says Ozzy 'Needed' to Perform Before His Death

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 12:58pm

Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath died in July 2025. The lead singer performed with the heavy metal band one last time weeks before his death. His wife, Sharon Osbourne, gave an update on her life after her loss and what they knew about his health at the time of his last performance.

Sharon Osbourne Says It's Hard Losing Ozzy

Osbourne, 73, appeared on the Dumb Blonde podcast. "I'm getting there," she told host Bunnie XO. "I'm getting there. It's hard. Jesus, it's hard, but I'm getting there. I'm gonna keep working and I'm gonna keep doing what I do in my life. And that's it." The lead singer's last performance in Birmingham was streamed live.

Osbourne lost his ability to walk after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He sat on a throne while singing on stage. "Two weeks before the show, they said he could probably die, and he did," she said on the podcast. "But he wanted to do it so bad. He needed it. And it's, like, 'Whether I die in two weeks or I die in six months, I'm still dying. And I wanna go my way.' And he did. He went like a rock star."

She called it bittersweet because he had sepsis last year, and the family prepared themselves for the worst. "He went out like a king," she said proudly. The wife said his death was so quick. The family recently enjoyed a tribute to Ozzy at the Grammys. Post Malone, Guns N’ Roses’ Slash and Duff McKagan, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith took the stage.

"Last night was bigger than a performance," Sharon wrote in the caption of their tribute video on Instagram. "It was a moment carved into musical history. Reminding everyone that rock isn’t nostalgia - it’s alive, evolving, and still the heartbeat of music. @postmalone you were pure magic, a shapeshifter with a voice that can bend into any genre. @slash @duffmckagan @thisiswatt @chadsmithofficial you are the masters of your craft and complete icons."

‘John Tucker Must Die’ Star On Producing a Sequel: ‘We Have a Great Script’

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 12:50pm

A 'John Tucker Must Die' sequel may still be in our future, actress Arielle Kebbel recently shared.

Chatting on Thursday's episode of Katlyn Bristowe's "Off the Vine" podcast, the Bachelorette alum asked the actress if fans will ever see another installment to the 2006 hit rom-com film that also starred Jesse Metcalfe.

"I started producing a few years ago and one of the first projects I ever sold was a sequel to 'John Tucker'" Kebbel shared. "It was very exciting and the whole cast was back on board...so we worked with the studio for a while and we got a script in right before the writers' strike."

View this post on Instagram

Kebbel, who also starred in Gilmore Girls, explained that ultimately the project "got shelved, which is not a permanent thing but it is not currently active."

However, the actress still thinks the film will move forward eventually.

"It was definitely a disappointment at the time," she said. "But I I also really have faith that we have a great script and everyone is still excited about the project."

"When the time is right, we'll pick it up again," she added.

She also credited the film's massive fan base for the fact that the sequel even got off the ground in the first place.

"Honestly I'm not even joking such a huge part of our pitch was literally just sharing the fan enthusiasm thats still out there," she said. "It is very real."

Along with Kebbel and Metcalfe, 'John Tucker Must Die' also starred Ashanti and Brittany Snow,Sophia Bush, and Penn Badgley.

Rumors of a sequel started to swirl in 2024 at a fan convention in Chicago when Metcalfe, Kebbel, and Bush revealed the script had been written, E! News reported at the time.

Following the announcement, Snow, who went on to start in the "Pitch Perfect" franchise and most recently The Hunting Wives on Netflix, told Entertainment Tonight that she'd be "down" to join.

"I would be totally down," she said. "I'm not going to say 'no' to something like that, it was such a life-changing and fun experience, but who knows."

Alysa Liu Set a Clear Boundary Before Returning to Ice Skating — and It Involved Her Dad

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 12:48pm

Alysa Liu’s return to figure skating started with a clear boundary.

After stepping away from the sport at 16 and spending years building a life outside the rink, the Olympic gold medalist made it clear that any comeback would look different from her childhood career. This time, she would be in control—of her training, her creative direction and even how involved her father would be.

In a January interview with 60 Minutes, Liu, 20, explained that during her time away, she rediscovered a sense of independence and joy, eventually finding her way back to the ice on her own terms.

When she began considering a competitive return, she set specific conditions for how it would work moving forward. “I get to pick my own program music. I get to help with the creative process of the program,” she revealed in the interview. “If I feel like I'm skating too much, I'll back down. If I feel like I'm not skating enough, I'll ramp it up. No one's going to starve me. Tell me what I can and can't eat.”

Her father, Arthur Liu, had long been a driving force behind her rise. A single parent who supported her career financially and logistically, he once poured enormous energy into her success. But this time, Alysa wanted a shift. “He's a great father, you know, I just didn't want him to be as invested in it as he was before.”

READ MORE: How Much Did Alysa Liu’s Father Spend on Her Skating Career?

The transition wasn’t without emotion. When asked if he was upset about being asked to step back, Arthur admitted, “A little bit. A little bit. It's like I brought you up to US national titles.”

Still, the change allowed Liu to return with a renewed sense of ownership. The skater who once described her early career as structured and demanding came back with a different mindset—one driven by personal motivation rather than outside pressure.

That shift paid off. Liu rediscovered her love for the sport, claimed a world title in 2025 and delivered standout performances at the 2026 Winter Olympics. After taking home two gold medals (one of which actually broke), fans praised her originality and relaxed presence on the ice.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Olympic skater who looks like they’re having fun before this.,” one TikTok user wrote.

Another noted, “Watching this live was CRAZY this was genuinely the most passionate performance I’ve seen in women’s Olympic figure skating.”

“Her mindset went from win a medal to simply allowing the audience to experience her skating… there was no “losing” for her and she won the gold,” said a third.

The comeback was personal. This time, Liu wasn’t just skating to win. She was skating on her own terms.
