Chelsea Handler Will Play a Washed-up Reality Star in a New Hulu Series

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 4:05pm

Chelsea Handler knows a thing or two about being on television, but it's not every day we get to see the comedy queen take on another character.

Handler, 50, is attached to star in a Hulu comedy series about a washed-up reality star called Townhouse, Deadline reported. Handler will also executive produce.

According to Deadline, the series will also follow Handler's character's live-in entourage of misfits as they attempt to fix her messy public image and get her career started again. That's all thrown up in the air when her estranged daughter moves home to their dilapidated townhouse in Manhattan, forcing her to deal with motherhood head-on.

Handler does have some experience with the chaotic world of reality television, after all: She previously served as a producer on the E! reality series Pretty Wild, which starred Alexis Neiers, and continues to be infamous in some circles for its quotable moments and connections to the Bling Ring, the group of California-based teenagers and young adults who burglarized celebrity homes.

Of course, Handler has plenty of entertainment experience under her belt. From 2007 to 2014, she served as the host of Chelsea Lately, the popular E! late-night talk show. She later had a series on Netflix, Chelsea, and most recently released a Netflix stand-up special, Chelsea Handler: The Feeling, in 2025.

In her typical humorous way, Handler announced the news on Instagram by saying, "The rumors are true. I’m becoming a mother."

Finding Freedom While Turning 50

Handler will soon turn 51, and she's loving every minute of it. Last year, the comedian, who released her new book, I’ll Have What She’s Having, opened up to Parade about her journey to the five-decade mark.

“Everyone keeps asking me [how I feel about turning 50], and I feel like they want me to say something like [sounding slightly bummed], ‘I can’t believe I’m 50,’” Handler shared. “[But] this is awesome. My life is exactly what I hoped it would be—it’s more than I hoped it would be. I had no idea what the possibilities were or that I could live a life like this and feel so free.”

Tim McGraw Reveals Controversial Song That 'Set My Career in Motion'

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 4:03pm

Tim McGraw recently revealed the controversial song that "set my career in motion"—a 1994 track that some radio stations pulled following listener complaints.

On the Feb. 4 episode of The Tim Ferris Show podcast, the country legend, 58, spoke out his song, "Indian Outlaw," which appeared on his second album, Not a Moment Too Soon.

McGraw said he originally wanted the song on his debut, self-titled album in 1993. However, he said "nobody liked it," and that included his label, Curb.

"They just said it was too controversial and it was a bad song," he explained. "It wasn't country music, it won't work on radio, all the things."

However, McGraw said he "knew it worked" because of the audience response before his first record dealt. "When we would go travel and play clubs all over the country, I was playing that song. And we'd end up having to play it two or three times a night, four times a night, because people loved it so much," he said. "... But I didn't have any say-so on the first album."

"When we cut it, I thought, 'This is either going to work in a huge way or it's going to ruin my career forever," he said of recording "Indian Outlaw" for his second album. "Luckily, it worked."

Additionally, McGraw confessed, "I'll forever believe that the combination of those two songs ["Indian Outlaw" and "Don't Take the Girl"] is what set my career in motion and gave me momentum that I probably couldn't have gotten any other way."

In "Indian Outlaw," McGraw sings about being "half Cherokee and Choctaw," and includes a slew of Native American stereotypes, including lyrics about wigwams, tom-toms, teepees, and peace pipes.

"I understood why it was controversial," he admitted. "Because it was stereotypical and it was sort of a play on Native American. And there was a lot of controversy around it, and I understood the controversy, and I wasn't upset about the controversy.

"Indian Outlaw" marked McGraw's first top-40 country song, rising to No. 8 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks and to No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. Still, some radio stations axed the song from their lineup following complaints.

"I met with several Native American leaders. Some liked the song, some didn't like the song," the Live Like You Were Dying singer told Tom Ferris. "And my answer was, 'Look, I understand what your concerns are. The song's not meant to be that way, I understand your concerns. My opinion, if you need to go after me in order to raise attention and awareness, by all means, use my song for that. If you like it or don't like it, if you can make something good happen from it, then by all means, I'm not going to be offended.'"

McGraw added, "And now when I play Native American casinos, when I meet with the elders or the chiefs before the show, I always say, 'You know, I have "Indian Outlaw" on my set, but I'm happy to take it out if it's offensive.' And invariably, 99.9% of the time they [say], 'That's why we hired you is to sing that song!' So they love it. So it's been really good to me."

2010's Classic Production Ranked Best 'Broadway Show’ Right Now

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:57pm

With the large variety of shows to pick from, deciding which Broadway production to see has proven to be a daunting choice. Luckily, there are a few options that rarely let crowds down.

This past week, Broadway.com has ranked the 10 best shows to see as of February 2026, compiling a list of the most entertaining acts to grace broadway stages right now. Beating out both Lin-Manuel Miranda's 2016 classic Hamilton at No. 2 and Winnie Holzman's iconic 2003 show Wicked at No. 3, J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child took the top spot.

Initially kicking off as a five hour long two-part stage play in July of 2016 in London's West End, the show had its Broadway debut in April 2018. The script, which was released as a book just one day after its stage debut in London, serves as a continuation of the original Harry Potter series.

The plot follows Harry Potter's son Albus Severus Potter, and Draco Mallfoy's son, Scorpius Malfoy, 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. When the pair comes into contact with a Time-Turner and uses it to alter the past, they subsequently create a dangerous timeline in which Voldemort won. Throughout the nail-biting show, Albus and Scorpius grapple with the consequences of history while navigating friendship, family legacies and the ever-changing wizarding world.

Since its debut, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has achieved significant critical acclaim and mainstream success. It is widely applauded for its innovative, non-digital special effects that make the viewing experience all the more engaging.

The play has gone on to break records as the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, selling over 3.5 million tickets and raking in over $430 million in sales. It has also won nine Olivier Awards—the most a single play has ever won—and secured six Tony awards, solidifying itself as a global phenomenon.

William Shatner Just Gave ‘Star Trek’ Fans a Moment They Didn’t Expect

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:56pm

Actor William Shatner, 94, who famously played Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series, recently performed for major fans of the beloved science fiction franchise.

In celebration of the franchise's 60th anniversary, Shatner showed off his singing talents on the Star Trek: The Cruise IX, held during the week of February 20, 2026. On February 22, the official Instagram account for the fan-themed cruise uploaded a video that showed Shatner up on stage before an audience. For his performance on the cruise, Shatner sang Elton John's 1972 hit "Rocket Man," accompanied by a full band.

According to the caption, John de Lancie, who played the beloved character, Q, in Star Trek: The Next Generation, also provided entertainment for the cruise ship.

"Q brought the surprises… and then Captain Kirk beamed in. An unforgettable night with John de Lancie, the Curtis Institute of Music, and a legendary surprise from William Shatner. @williamshatner @john.delancie @curtisinstitute #startrekcruise," read the post's caption.

De Lancie's Star Trek: The Next Generation co-star, Wil Wheaton, was quick to comment on the post.

"No. Effing. Way," wrote Wheaton, who played Star Trek character, Wesley Crusher.

Some Star Trek fans also shared their thoughts about the upload.

"This is why I love the cruise. Wish we were there!!" wrote a commenter.

"love this," added another.

"Amazing," shared a third person.

William Shatner Appeared With Other 'Star Trek' Stars on the Cruise

In February 2025, USA Today reported that Shatner and several other Star Trek: The Original Series stars, such as Walter Koenig, Sean Kenney, Sandra Gimpel, and Bobby Clark, would join the ninth annual Star Trek cruise in 2026. Other Star Trek personalities who were slated to be on the February 2026 cruise are Star Trek: The Next Generation stars Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine stars Nana Visitor and Terry Farrell, and Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Greenand Anthony Rapp.

Chris Hearing, Entertainment Cruise Productions' partner and executive director of theme cruises, released a statement about the event, per USA Today.

“We’ve planned a week of incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experiences to honor the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. Celebrating this milestone with both William Shatner and Walter Koenig is a dream come true for fans," stated Hearing.

William Shatner Opened up About Joining the Cast of 'Star Trek: The Original Series'

Shatner spoke about joining the cast of Star Trek: The Original Series, which had a three-season run until 1969, in a May 2024 interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Shatner noted that CBS had "made a pilot called Star Trek," starring "another actor, Jeffrey Hunter" as the lead. According to Shatner, the network liked "the idea" of the show but wanted a new cast. Shatner said he was approached to play Captain Kirk while he was acting in a play in New York.

"So I was in New York just finishing up a play, and they called me and they said, 'We've got this thing, would you like to be in it?' So I flew to LA and I watched the pilot, I thought, 'My God, that's really cool,'" recalled Shatner during the 2024 interview.

DHS Almost Immediately Reverses TSA PreCheck Suspension After Backlash

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:41pm

In a dramatic reversal on Sunday, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) walked back its decision to suspend the popular TSA PreCheck expedited security screening program just hours after announcing the suspension. The reversal followed swift backlash from travelers, lawmakers, and industry leaders.

The U-turn came amid a partial government shutdown triggered by a stalemate in Congress over DHS funding, especially disagreements around immigration enforcement policies. DHS initially said it would suspend both TSA PreCheck and the Global Entry customs-expedited program beginning early Sunday to redirect staffing toward basic security operations.

Related: TSA PreCheck and Global Entry Suspended Amid Government Shutdown: What to Know Before Traveling

However, the abrupt announcement drew immediate criticism, with critics warning that halting the programs would disrupt travel during one of the busiest periods of the year.

A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) spokesperson confirmed that TSA PreCheck will remain operational with no changes for the traveling public, at least for now, and that future adjustments will be made "on a case-by-case basis" as staffing constraints arise. Courtesy escort privileges for lawmakers have been cut to prioritize core security functions.

Industry groups were among the loudest voices urging DHS to reverse course. Airlines for America, which represents major U.S. carriers including American, Delta, and United, criticized the initial suspension as "political football" that gave travelers little notice and threatened chaos at airport checkpoints.

"A4A is deeply concerned that TSA PreCheck and Global Entry programs are being suspended and that the traveling public will be, once again, used as a political football amid another government shutdown," Airlines for America CEO Chris Sununu said, according to CNBC.

The U.S. Travel Association also called the reversal a relief while warning lawmakers against using travel programs as leverage in political disputes.

"We are disgusted that over the last 90 days, Democrats and Republicans have used air traffic controllers, TSA, CBP, and the entire travel experience as a means to achieve political ends," the association said in a statement.

While PreCheck's continuation provides short-term stability for more than 20 million enrolled members, uncertainty remains, especially for the Global Entry program, which reportedly remains suspended. As the DHS funding impasse persists, travelers and industry officials alike are watching closely for what could come next in a deeply politicized environment for federal operations.

Ted Lange, the Memorable ‘Love Boat’ Bartender Isaac, Is 78 and Dapper in Rare Red Carpet Appearance

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:29pm

Ted Lange was a beloved member of The Love Boat cast, and he's still a dapper gentleman at 78!

Lange rose to stardom as Isaac the bartender on the memorable '70s and '80s series, which followed the cruise ship MS Pacific Princess and the lives and loves of its staff and passengers. HE also starred on the popular series That's My Mama. In his post-Love Boat career, Lange has had a successful career in writing and directing, and has penned a variety of plays. He's even made time for an appearance on a reality show, with a 2006 stint on Celebrity Fit Club.

These days, Lange is looking quite dapper. Last week, he attended “This Joint Is Jumpin: A Celebration Of Black Entertainers From Film, TV And Song Honoring Black History Month” at The Hollywood Museum. Secrets From The Love Boat

Last year, Lange let out some fun secrets from his time on The Love Boat, including his reveal of the star that producers told him to steer clear of. During an appearance on the Still Here Hollywood podcast, Lange told host Steve Kmetko that the bigwigs at the network advised him to stay away from guest star Gene Kelly.

"[The producers said], 'Don't talk to Gene. He's a grumpy guy, so just leave him alone. When you do your scenes, fine, but don't talk to Gene,'" Lange recalled, Entertainment Weekly reported. "We all said, 'Okay, yeah, fine.'"

However, Lange didn't listen.

"He was reading a magazine," Lange said. "He wore contacts and glasses. So he's sitting there, and he's reading, and I said, 'Screw this, I'm gonna go talk to Gene Kelly.' So I go, he's sitting in one chair, I sit across from him, I go, 'Hi.'"

"I said, 'Can I ask you a question?' You can see him go, 'What?' I said, 'What was it like dancing with the Nicholas brothers?' Now, for your audience that don't know who they are, they're two Black tap dancers out of the Cotton Club back [in the] Harlem Renaissance," Lange said, referring to Fayard and Harold Nicholas. "And Gene put them in his movies. Oh my god, they were incredible dancers."

Kelly went on to invite Lange to his hotel for a drink to continue the conversation since they had to resume acting on set.

"After we finished our day's work, I hooked up with him, sat down in the hotel, and he was wonderful — it was totally different," Lange recalled.

The 3 Supplement Label Claims Doctors Are Begging You Not To Ignore

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:25pm

There are a lot of reasons you may choose one supplement over another, including a company’s reputation and good reviews. But claims about what a certain supplement can do for your health will inevitably sway your decision, too.

You’re in good company if you take a supplement: About 75% of Americans do. The reasons for this can be mixed, from having an actual deficiency in a nutrient to trying to treat symptoms that keep coming up.

But despite how popular supplements are, the industry isn’t tightly regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As a result, it’s hard to know if what the label states is actually in the bottle, points out Dr. Kelly Johnson-Arbor, MD, a toxicologist at MedStar Health. “There is no perfect way to determine whether a dietary supplement is safe or OK to use,” she says.

The claims surrounding supplements are more closely regulated, with the FDA providing clear guidelines on what companies can and can’t say that their product provides. Even then, some companies will be deliberately vague or even outright misleading with their claims. This can be an understandably tricky thing to navigate.

“Unlike prescription medications, dietary supplements are not required to undergo FDA approval before being advertised or sold in the United States,” Dr. Johnson-Arbor continues. “Because dietary supplements are not evaluated or regulated as stringently as prescription drugs, dietary supplement manufacturers are required to state on their label that the product is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. However, not every supplement manufacturer is compliant with this requirement.”

The FDA can send warning letters to companies that don’t follow this requirement, but this usually only happens after the supplement is up for sale, Dr. Johnson-Arbor says.

It’s always a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider before starting a new supplement, especially if you’re taking medication. Together, you can review the supplement and how it may impact your health. But doctors are especially wary of certain supplement label claims, and with good reason. Here’s what they want you to steer clear of.

3 Supplement Claims Doctors Want People To Be Wary Of

d3sign/Getty Images

There are a few supplement label claims doctors want you to avoid: “detoxes,” “guaranteed results” and “cures.”

“If it is a supplement, it cannot claim to diagnose, treat or cure,” points out Dr. Jamie Alan, Ph.D., an associate professor of pharmacology and toxicology at Michigan State University. But it’s hard not to get sucked into claims like that.

“People judge a book by its cover,” saysDr. Daniel Chandler, MD, primary care physician at Tufts Medical Center. “If it says it will cure XYZ, it’s easy to believe it.” Chandler notes that these supplements will often have small print on the label that hedges these claims, but that can be easy to miss. “It’s false advertising,” he says.

Why Are These Claims Concerning?

There are a few reasons why doctors are wary of any supplement that makes these claims. Here’s a breakdown.

1. “Detoxes”

Medical detoxification, through a process like chelation therapy, can help remove certain toxins from the body, Johnson-Arbor says. (Chelation therapy is often used in emergency situations like heavy metal poisoning.) “But there is no known detox method that is effective in removing all poisonous compounds, including parasites, pollutants, and synthetic chemicals, from the human body,” she explains.

There’s also this to consider, per Dr. Alan: “Generally, most people do not need to ‘detox.’ Our liver functions as a detoxifying organ, and most times, it does not need extra help.”

Detoxes can also be harmful to your health. “More often than not, they’re laxatives or diuretics,” Dr. Chandler says. “The risk of dehydration increases and that can cause significant harm.”

2. “Guaranteed results”

This is "factually inaccurate,” Dr. Chandler says. “Even as a doctor who prescribes medicines, I can’t guarantee results."

Dr. Johnson-Arbor agrees. “There are few things in life that are guaranteed,” she says. “While ‘guaranteed results’ is eye-catching and desirable for many people, the reality of ‘individual results may vary’ is often listed in the fine print.”

She also stresses that everyone is impacted differently by treatments, saying, “What works for one person may be ineffective or even potentially toxic for someone else."

3. “Cures”

This word is a direct violation of FDA rules, which should be a major red flag, Dr. Johnson-Arbor says, explaining, “Dietary supplement manufacturers are not allowed to claim that their products cure disease. Supplement labels that claim to cure or prevent diseases should be read with extreme caution, as that information is likely to be inaccurate.”

How Doctors Decide if a Supplement Is Safe

Again, it’s best to talk to a healthcare provider if you’re interested in taking a supplement. To help you decide if an option is right for you, your doctor will consider the risks and benefits and review other things you’re taking to make sure there are no interactions, Dr. Alan says.

“Doctors will often recommend that patients take supplements that are third-party tested,” Dr. Johnson-Arbor adds.

Choosing the right supplement can be difficult. Ultimately, the safest way to go is to work with your doctor—and to steer clear of supplements with bold claims.

Why This ‘Boy Meets World’ Star Was ‘Against’ Matthew Lawrence Joining the Show

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:21pm

While Ryder Strong and Matthew Lawrence played brothers on Boy Meets World, their off-screen relationship may have actually been similar to their roles on the show.

While chatting on a recent episode of the Lawrence brothers' podcast, "Brotherly Love," Strong explained that he was initially wary of Matthew's joining the cast in 1997.

"Before you got there, I would say the three of you guys were like very intimidating for us because you guys were like the established Hollywood people," he explained. "You were the very successful set of brothers that became super stars and had done all that this stuff, so for us I think there was a sense of, 'Oh God, the Lawrences are coming.'"

View this post on Instagram

Matthew and his brothers Joey and Andrew, were acting regularly and had starred in their own show, also titled Brotherly Love. Matthew also starred on Blossom and in the movie "Mrs. Doubtfire."

Matthew played Jack, brother to Strong's character Shawn. Jack entered into the show a few years in as the characters were estranged half brothers who shared the same father, Chet, played by Blake Clark. The reunion came as a surprise as Shawn never knew his father had another child and their relationship took time to develop.

"So when you came on set there was this, 'What is he doing here? Does he even need to do this?' Strong recalled. "It sort of felt like you were being imposed on us, like 'The network wants a Lawrence in our show' and we were like 'But we don't need him.'"

Related: 'Mrs. Doubtfire' Actor Shares What It Was Like to Film This Iconic Scene Alongside Robin Williams

'I remember being like 'this is weird,' so I was against it," Strong admitted. "But once we talked to you and hung out were like 'Oh no, this is fine and I totally got to know you."

Boy Meets World also starred Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle and aired from 1993 to 2000.

Similar to the Lawrence brothers, Fishel, Strong and Friedle also have a podcast, "Pod Meets World," where they conduct interviews with former co-stars and reminisce about their time on the beloved show.

50 Years After Boston’s Chart-Topping Debut, This ‘Massive, Massive Snub’ From the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Still Outrages Fans

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:20pm

Nearly 50 years after one legendary rock band's mainstream debut, fans are raring for a correction to what many perceive to be a longtime "massive snub."

Despite being eligible for nomination to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for nearly 25 years, Boston has not once been added to the ballot—an "insane" oversight to those who love the band and appreciate the mark it's made on all the acts that have since followed in its footsteps.

Just months ahead of the milestone anniversary, one fan account dedicated to classic rock took to X to vent, "Imagine not being in the Rock n Roll hall of fame 50 years later!!!"

SiriusXM host Eddie Trunk agreed it was a "massive massive snub" due to both the "enorm[ity]" of the album and the "innovations" from the band's founder, Tom Scholz—sparking some debate on the social media platform.

Massive massive snub by @rockhall . Not only an enormous album , but the innovations Tom Scholz invented ! Insane https://t.co/uaVseDwNdB

— Eddie Trunk (@EddieTrunk) February 19, 2026 What Makes Boston Eligible for the Hall of Fame?

According to the Hall of Fame, the criteria for nomination is simply to have 25 years pass since the release of an act's first commercial recording. A formal nomination committee selects a group of artists each year, and then sends a ballot out to over 1,200 "historians, members of the music industry and artists—including every living Rock Hall inductee," with the five to seven performers who get the most votes being inducted each year.

Many fans say it's "unacceptable" that Boston hasn't even been considered in the last two and a half decades, pointing out how "Boston's sound has influenced a lot of music and still is."

"It is criminal for them not to be in the rock and roll hall of fame," another emphasized.

"The best debut album of all time," someone else boldly declared. "There are some honorable mentions, but this one sits at the top."

Not Everyone Agrees Boston Is Worthy of Nomination

The album in question is the hard rock group's debut, self-titled album, which was released on Aug. 25, 1976 and sold over 20 million units worldwide. The album debuted above 100 on the charts, but reached the Top 10 within just six weeks, peaking at No. 3. Meanwhile, their debut single, "More Than a Feeling" hit No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

However, the first of the band's six albums was far and above its top performer, and other fans argue that one hit isn't enough to earn Hall of Fame status.

"One great album, not enough for me," one stated simply.

"They weren’t even a real band technically," another argued. "They went what, 10 years before releasing a 2nd album that turned out to be blah..."

"Meh - they had like 3 albums and we had in jammed down our throats on FM radio for decades," another shrugged off. "Innovation followed by what? Resting on their laurels from the 70s? Na uh."

Founder Tom Scholz Is an Accomplished Musical Inventor

Scholz, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, used some of his band earnings to launch Scholz Research & Development, Inc., where he established some 30 patents, which included the Power Soak—the first-ever commercial guitar amplifier attenuator—the Rockman—a portable headphone guitar amplifier—and the Rockmodules—a guitar effect device.

As noted by Sweetwater, several of Boston's fellow rock legends put the Rockman to good use, and its results can be heard on Def Leppard’s "Hysteria," ZZ Top’s "Afterburner," and KISS’s "Animalize."

But, should Scholz's solo contributions as an inventor contribute to Boston's consideration? What do you think?

Hawaii Becomes the First Destination to Win the Sustainability Leadership Award

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:18pm

Hawaii has made history as the first destination ever to receive the Travel Weekly Sustainability Leadership Award, a new honor recognizing places that embrace sustainable tourism as a fundamental part of their identity and travel experience. The accolade was presented as part of the Travel Weekly 2025 Readers' Choice Awards, an annual industry-voted gala celebrating excellence across the travel sector.

"[The award] recognizes the state's approach, where culture and the stewardship of land, ocean, and community are integrated alongside tourism," Travel Weekly writes.

Central to Hawaii's recognition is its Mālama Hawai'i philosophy—an invitation to visitors and travel professionals alike to "take care" of the land, the people, and the cultural heritage of the islands. Through initiatives like the Mālama Hawai'i program and the Hawaii Meaningful Map—created in collaboration with nonprofit Tourism Cares—travelers are encouraged to engage deeply with local communities and contribute positively to preservation efforts. These tools link visitors with community-driven experiences, volunteer opportunities, and responsible travel partners that prioritize ecological protection and cultural respect.

"Mālama Hawai'i is more than a promotion or campaign; it's the direction in which our brand is headed," Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau President and CEO John Monahan said in a press release. "Our goal is to attract mindful visitors who will leave Hawaiʻi better than when they arrived. By doing so, visitors will experience a deeper connection and a vacation that really becomes more meaningful to them."

Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative Executive Director Jeff Dunster added that the program gives guests the opportunity to give back.

"Together we will provide guests with a unique opportunity to give back through the restoration of Hawai'i's rarest native forests," he stated in the press release. "These ecosystems exist nowhere else on earth, and now with visitors' help, we can all leave a lasting legacy for this generation and for generations to come."

Industry professionals have praised Hawaii for its integration of sustainability into every aspect of its tourism strategy, from visitor education to conservation efforts that help protect fragile ecosystems and support local economies.

Unlike many awards that recognize individual hotels, airlines, or tour operators, this Sustainability Leadership Award honors an entire destination. It's a testament to Hawaii's holistic approach to responsible tourism and the ways in which it preserves the islands' cultural values, environmental stewardship, and community wellbeing.

Robyn Basso of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau accepted the award on behalf of Hawaii.

7 Things in Your Basement That Could Be Worth $50,000 or More, According to an ‘American Pickers’ Star

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 3:04pm

If anyone knows how to spot hidden treasure in a dusty corner of a garage, it’s Mike Wolfe. As the longtime star of American Pickers, Wolfe built his career tracking down so-called "junk" and revealing its true value. Now, he’s hosting History’s Greatest Picks with Mike Wolfe, which premieres on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 9 p.m. ET. The new History Channel series spotlights one-of-a-kind discoveries—like a postcard from Jack the Ripper—made not only by established pickers, but also by everyday folks across the country.

“A lot of [the people whose stories we tell] are not trained professionals," Wolfe tells Parade. "They're not antique dealers. They’re not seasoned in the art of finding that gold nugget. Most of these people are buying something because it appeals to them visually. Then they tuck it away, and then they go back to it and they're like, ‘Does this have value?’”

While the average person probably isn’t unknowingly storing a long-lost Da Vinci painting bought for less than $100 that later sells for half a billion—another highlight from the eight-episode season—they might very well have a discarded hand-me-down that’s worth way more than they realize.

'American Pickers' star Mike Wolfe brings his love of treasure-hunting to the new History Channel series 'History's Greatest Picks.'

H

“We're all treasure hunters,” Wolfe explains. “From the time we were born, we started collecting rocks or comic books or whatever. It's part of our DNA … I want people to take away when they watch this [show] that this could happen to anybody and that they could do it.”

To help separate trash from potential treasure, Parade asked Wolfe about seven everyday items that could secretly be worth a lot more than you think. Keep reading to see if your basement is hiding more than just spiders.

7 Items in Your Basement or Garage That Could Secretly Be Worth Money1. Vintage Clothing

Those 1930s Lee jeans your grandmother passed down? They could be worth as much as $50,000, Wolfe advises. He recently sold a pair for that much himself.

“I had them for probably 10 years, and I had them nailed to a board hanging on a wall,” he tells Parade. After someone came into his warehouse and offered him $10,000 for the pair, he realized he might be sitting on—or, rather, staring at—a goldmine. “I was like, ‘Huh. Yeah, I don't think so,’” he recalls, before striking a deal with an overseas buyer for five times that amount.

While more recent pieces may not fetch quite that much money, Wolfe stresses that vintage clothing in general is "the hottest it’s ever been"—with '80s items from heritage brands like Levi’s, Patagonia, Carhartt and North Face all pulling top dollar.

Wolfe pins much of the surge on nostalgia. “I’m at the age now where I’m starting to romanticize the '80s,” says the 61-year-old. “I want my grandkid to have something that I had, or hell, I [remember] my favorite jacket when I was a junior in high school and I want it again.”

Add disposable income and the influence of pop culture juggernauts like Stranger Things to the mix and suddenly a Reagan-era tote bag from L.L. Bean could be worth about $600 (by Wolfe’s estimate).

2. Old Electronics

According to Wolfe, old stereo components from early audio manufacturers like McIntosh and Bozak are in demand right now, thanks in part to the ongoing resurgence of vinyl.

“Vinyl is feeding the audiophile market,” he explains, adding that more people are now collecting old turntables, amps and speakers. “Remember when a speaker [was so big it] would've been a piece of furniture?” he asks. “That stuff is really hot right now.”

The demand is so high, in fact, that repair specialists are now popping back up to service decades-old equipment. Wolfe says he has a guy in Nashville fixing turntables and vintage speakers—the sort of help he couldn’t find 10 years ago.

Again, Wolfe attributes some of the boom to nostalgia, adding that when it comes to electronics, he’s personally interested in a first-edition Sony Walkman. “When I was a kid, there's absolutely no way I could afford one,” he shares. “I think they were like $200 or something.” Now? “I’d probably throw down 500 bucks.”

3. Cassette Tapes, CDs and DVDs

As vintage stereo equipment surges in popularity, the media that goes with it is making a comeback, too. Old cassette tapes, CDs and, relatedly, DVDs are finding new audiences as collectors rediscover the players that use them.

As Wolfe puts it, once people have the machines, they “want content” to go with them.

“That stuff we used to throw away 10 years ago or scrap because it was ‘worth nothing’? All of that's hot right now,” he says. “You walk into a record store, they got tons of cassettes, tons of CDs, DVDs.”

So if you had the foresight—and space—to save your high-school VHS collection, it could be worth a small chunk of change.

4. Coin-Operated Machines: Jukeboxes, Slot Machines, Pinball

If there’s an abandoned jukebox in a relative’s garage, don’t assume it’s decorative junk.

“I’ve sold a lot of jukeboxes,” Wolfe reveals—especially to musicians, who put them in homes, offices and creative spaces.

Machines from the late ’50s and ’60s—the era of 45 records—are particularly desirable because they’re more “refined” and practical to use “so you're going to have less problems with them.”

Old slot machines and pinball machines can also command strong prices, depending on condition and rarity.

5. Antique Advertising Signs

Antique advertising signs are a goldmine for pickers because they combine nostalgia, bold graphic design and brand history. Porcelain and tin signs from the early 20th century—especially those promoting gas stations, soda brands, farm equipment or tobacco—were made to withstand the elements, so surviving examples in good condition are increasingly rare.

“Advertising is at its highest point that it’s ever been,” Wolfe says. In fact, he’s seen porcelain petroleum signs sell for over $1 million.

“We think about gas and pulling up to the gas station now, and we're at BP and we're at Shell,” he continues. “But back then—in the teens and the twenties—there were tiny refineries that were marketing themselves in such interesting ways and with such beautiful graphics.”

Even smaller items—like an early-20th-century oil can—have the potential to bring in $20,000 or more given a stellar and limited design. Wolfe knows one collector who paid $28,000 for a can featuring a 1913 Henderson motorcycle graphic.

He says that local store signs can be a draw, too. "It's early history, it's community history,” he shares.

Wolfe recalls nearly having a heart attack when someone brought in a Coca-Cola sign with “LeClaire Grocery”—a local Iowa store—on its privilege panel. The piece is now mounted on the wall of his antique shop.

“This sign melts my face off,” he says. “It's the most amazing thing that I have hanging in here and I've got a lot of badass stuff hanging in there.”

6. Mid-Century Furniture

Unlike much of today’s mass-produced furniture, many pieces made between the 1940s and 1960s were built to last—crafted from high-quality materials like teak, walnut and rosewood. In fact, Wolfe says that the demand for authentic mid-century design is so strong in the U.S. that dealers in Europe are shipping pieces stateside to help meet it.

If you’re not sure whether what you have is valuable or not, Wolfe recommends starting with a Google Image search to gauge how unique your piece might be—if more than a couple of images show up, it’s probably not rare enough to pull in top dollar. A maker's mark can boost value, but even without one, standout design, quality craftsmanship and rarity can make a mid-century piece worth far more than you’d expect.

7. Throwback Toys and Old Bicycles

Original action figures, tin toys and early board games often become worth far more if they’re in good condition, especially in their original packaging. "Sometimes the box could be worth more than the toy,” Wolfe tells Parade. “Because the toy's [often] around, but the box is never around. Have you ever seen a kid open a toy? I mean, they don't gingerly open the box.”

Rarity plays a huge role, too: Limited production runs, discontinued models or toys tied to major pop-culture moments—like the release of the first Star Warsmovie in 1977—can drive prices up quickly.

Old bicycles—particularly early 20th-century models or mid-century Schwinns—are also highly sought after. Collectors look for original paint, decals and parts, and certain balloon-tire or cruiser styles can sell for thousands.

Even though these bikes were mass produced, they’re hard to find now. "At some point in time, people moved on, things got old, and then all of the stuff we're talking about became junk,” Wolfe says. “It became just something taking up space, and it was scrapped.” Or if you’re lucky, it was left to collect cobwebs in your basement!

Returning to Mexico City’s Zócalo main square, the Colombian superstar announced on Friday an extra show, tying up the historic Mexican leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour (Women Don't Cry Anymore World Tour) with the niftiest of bows.

What makes it so nifty, you ask? Only the fact that its free.

Taking to her Instagram account, Shakira shared a brief video.

In it, she says, “¡México lindo! Remember 2007 when I sang for you at the Zócalo? Today, I want to tell you that this experience will happen again this Sunday, March 1, at 8:00 p.m.”

She continues, “You have given me so, so much, and I hope I can give back a little bit of that love you’ve given me.”

In response, Clara Brugada, the head of government in Mexico City, shared her own video on social media.

“Shakira is an extraordinary Latin artist who has triumphed worldwide, and here in Mexico, we love her very much,” Brugada said in her message.

Following her surprise Mexico City show, Shakira is heading to the Copacabana beach in Brazil. Come May 2, she’ll performed for an audience organizers expect will be at least one million people, per Billboard. That would put her in the same bracket as Madonna and Lady Gaga in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Other stops on her world tour include Doha, Qatar; Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; and New Delhi, India.

Can’t book a far-flung trip at the moment? No worries. Shakira added that they “will be broadcasting part of the show live on my channels, for everyone who wants to join in this celebration.”

Fans of the Queen of Latin Music can also catch Shakira in the Oscar-nominated film, Zootopia 2, now streaming. Well, her voice, at least. She reprises her role of Gazelle in the animated sequel, as well as sings "Zoo," a song off the soundtrack.

Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour runs February through April. For dates, tickets, and more information, go to shakira.com.

This Historic City Was Named the Travelers' Choice for Solo Travel

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 2:33pm

Set along the River Liffey with its colorful cobblestoned streets, literary legacy, and famously friendly locals, Dublin has earned a new accolade: TripAdvisor's 2026 Travelers' Choice for solo travel. Ireland's capital blends historic charm with an easygoing social scene, making it an ideal destination for those exploring on their own.

A wealth of surveys suggests that solo travel is increasingly interesting to adventurers. A recent report by Grand View Research shows Google searches for "solo travel" doubled from 2018 to 2023. It adds that "self-reflection, personal development, and cultural immersion" are major motivators for solo travelers.

And this year, in particular, 42.1% of solo travelers have said that they plan to take even more trips, according to an FTLO Travel survey. In 2026, they're prioritizing:

  • Cultural activities: 69%
  • Food: 47%
  • Affordability: 44%
  • Adventure: 44%
  • Fun: 40%
  • Connection: 35.5%
  • Personal growth: 20.2%
  • Rest: 15.1%
  • Nightlife: 13%

Dublin offers it all. Travelers are spoiled for choice of affordable and free cultural activities, fun daytime adventures, and vibrant nightlife options (think: pub food, beer, and good conversation).

Related: This Mediterranean Country Has More of the World's Best Beaches Than Any Other

At the heart of the city lies Trinity College Dublin, home to the 9th-century Book of Kells. Solo travelers can wander the cobbled squares and historic library at their own pace, soaking in centuries of scholarship and architecture. Just steps away, Dublin Castle offers a window into Ireland's complex political past, with guided tours that make it easy to connect with fellow visitors.

For those drawn to literature, Dublin is a UNESCO City of Literature and the longtime home of giants like James Joyce and W.B. Yeats. A stroll through the city feels like stepping into the pages of a novel, especially around St. Stephen's Green, where park benches invite quiet reflection between sightseeing stops.

A big reason Dublin stands out for solo travel is also its pub culture. In neighborhoods like Temple Bar, live traditional music spills out onto the streets, and conversations with strangers start easily over a pint. A visit to the Guinness Storehouse not only delivers panoramic city views but also a chance to join group tastings and tours.

Safety and walkability also play a role in Dublin's ranking. The compact city center makes Dublin simple to navigate on foot, and public transportation connects travelers to nearby coastal villages like Howth for cliff walks and fresh seafood.

From its historic streets to its welcoming spirit, Dublin offers the sweet spot solo adventurers crave: enough independence to explore freely, paired with countless opportunities to connect. Whether you're tracing literary footsteps, diving into the city's storied history, or chatting up locals over live music, Dublin proves that traveling alone doesn't necessarily mean being alone at all.

Hobby Lobby's Retro $10 Home Upgrade Adds Vintage Charm to Every Room

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 2:31pm

While parts of the country are currently preparing for record-breaking snowfall, it might be hard to believe that spring is just around the corner. And while we all dream of warmer weather, we're also thinking about refreshing our homes with the inviting colors of the season.

Thankfully, Hobby Lobby is embracing spring with full force, giving shoppers plenty of reasons to brave the cold in search of the perfect home essentials to kick the season off right. Case in point? Hobby Lobby's retro-inspired Checkerboard Rug. Currently sporting a 40 percent discount and retailing for a cool $10.79, this nostalgic home accent brings just the right amount of vintage charm to any room in need of a little personality.

Checkerboard Rug, $10.79 at Hobby Lobby

hobby Lobby

Normally retailing for $18, it's finds like this that remind us why Hobby Lobby is a force to be reckoned with. Drawing inspiration from timeless pieces that have long populated our favorite interiors and pairing them with prices that hardly ever break the bank, the popular arts-and-crafts chain is a reliable spot to score your favorite seasonal finds.

In the case of this charming checkerboard rug, shoppers gain access to a classic retro style that can be truly repurposed in any room around the home, office, or classroom. Featuring a standard rectangular shape measuring 24 by 36 inches, it's large enough to serve as a stylish accent to complement current decor, or as a statement piece you can build the rest of the room around.

While the black-and-ivory colorway easily steals the show with its instantly recognizable, trendy design, we can't help but love the matching brown-and-white colorway as well. Both options are slightly larger than your average doormat, giving them the versatility to transform entryways, kitchens, home offices or even a cozy reading nook or child's nursery.

Related: Hobby Lobby's Boho-Modern 4-Tier Corner Shelf Brings Instant Charm to Any Seasonal Refresh

Hobby Lobby

In terms of comfort and quality, the face of the rug is made of 100 percent polyester, with a backing composed of 57 percent polyester, 37 percent cotton and 6 percent rayon. That means each rug is not just cute and inviting to look at or stand on, but also ultra-cozy and durable to boot. Even better, you can easily shake them out or beat them with a stick to loosen any dirt and grime that has collected.

If you're thinking about snagging one (or two!) for yourself, just remember that these rugs fare best if kept in a dry, covered area away from excess moisture. Leaving them outside in direct sunlight and exposed to the elements can cause the colors to bleed and may even stain anything that comes in contact with them.

That said, if you like what you see, don't miss this unbeatable $10 price tag while it's still hot. And while you're at it, check out Hobby Lobby's vintage-inspired tweed trunk set and rustic iron bottle opener for more essential home upgrades.

'Days of Our Lives' Alum Shares Nostalgic 'Santa Barbara' Memory

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 2:22pm

Fans of Santa Barbara got a nostalgic surprise this week when Miranda Wilson shared a throwback photo with her former co-star A. Martinez on Instagram.

Wilson shared the photo on Instagram and reflected on her time on the soap, writing:

“Santa Barbara was an iconic show that still has diehard fans, 30+ years after its cancellation. I was blessed to work closely with the equally iconic @abonemartinez for the character's run. Playing Sandra Mills, a psychic who fixated on Cruz as she helped him find his lost/presumed dead, baby, was a complete joy. Not what one would usually imagine for a character who made 2 suicide attempts. 🫣 A, the actor, handled those post suicide scenes we had together with such grace and gentle/firm support.”

View this post on Instagram

Wilson began her daytime career on Days of Our Lives in 1984, playing Megan Hathaway DiMera, the daughter of supervillain Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo). Megan was a love interest for Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and a rival to Hope Williams (Kristian Alfonso), a role that earned Wilson a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Villainess.

After her exit from Days of Our Lives, Wilson joined the CBS soap opera Capitol, where she portrayed Kate Wells.

Wilson later joined Santa Barbara in 1989 as psychic Sandra Mills, appearing opposite A Martinez’s Cruz Castillo while Eden Capwell (Marcy Walker) was temporarily written out during Walker’s maternity leave.

Sandra became involved in the storyline after Cruz and Eden’s daughter, Adriana, was believed to have been kidnapped and killed by Eden’s gynecologist, Dr. Zack Kelton (Leigh J. McCloskey).

In a previous interview with Santa Barbara Online, Wilson discussed what it was like stepping into the storyline between the show’s popular supercouple.

Wilson shared, “Well, as it was my third role as the outsider stepping between favoured couples, I was used to it, to a large extent. When I was on Days of our Lives, this sort of thing really upset me.”

“I wanted to be the one everyone cheers for rather than the one people loved cheering against," she shared. "But I so loved the work that I was willing to accept that this seemed to be the roles I attracted for now and I sunk my teeth into it.”

The actress said that she loved playing the character, “Sandra was such a fun character to play. I really did revel in the opportunity.”

Wilson also praised her co-star, saying, “A Martinez was unequivocally my favorite male co-star. He is a consummate professional and an outstanding actor.”

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Wilson later reprised her role as Megan Hathaway DiMera in 2022 in Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem before returning to Days of Our Lives in 2023.

Santa Barbara aired from 1984 to 1993.  Days of Our Lives streams weekdays on Peacock.

The Best Feature - Independent category went to the Natalie Portman-produced Arco, which premiered at Cannes and is up for the Animated Feature Oscar next month. In addition to KPop Demon Hunters, it will face off against Zootopia 2, Elio and Little Amélie or the Character of Rain.

Netflix launched KPop Demon Hunters last summer with little promotion or fanfare, according to The Hollywood Reporter, but it became an overnight sensation and the streamer’s most-watched movie of all time, with a reported 481.6 million views worldwide.

Wendy’s Fans Can Enjoy Free Chili One Day This Week—Here's How

Sun, 02/22/2026 - 2:13pm

Wendy's is giving away free chili for National Chili Day, consider this your advanced notice.

The cult-favorite item has been a part of Wendy's menus since the fast-food chain first opened its doors in 1969. It's so popular that it's sold at every single Wendy's location in the U.S. and at multiple international locations, and even has its own dedicated blog on the official Wendy's website.

According to Wendy's, it served over 83 million servings of chili in the U.S. alone in 2020. So to say it's popular might actually be underselling it and those who've already had it would probably agree that it's so good it could be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And that's not hyperbolic, as New York-based bar ownerLarry Shea recently lost a bet against PGA Pro Scottie Scheffler that required him to eat only Wendy's Chili for an entire month! And now that Shea is nearing the final week of his journey, at least one of his meals will be on the house on National Chili Day.

Wendy's Offering Free Chili on National Chili Day

Wendy's Chili is made with the brand's fresh-never-frozen beef, a "hearty helping" of vegetables including bell peppers, diced tomatoes, onion, and, of course, beans.

The tried-and-true classic is the original "high-protein, carb-conscious" entrée and now it can be yours for free one day this week.

Related: Wendy’s Makes a ‘Biggie Deal’ of Its New Value Meals

It doesn't matter if you're new to Wendy's Chili or an OG fan, the international fast-food icon is offering all fans a free small Wendy's Chili on National Chili Day. There are a few stipulations, though, so before you go running to Wendy's, you should finish reading this first.

For starters, the free small cup of Chili is only being offered on digital orders made through the official Wendy's app or website by current Wendy's Rewards members (not a member? Signing up is easy and only takes a moment).

The offer is also valid only on orders that include a food or beverage purchase of $5 or more, which sounds like the perfect excuse to try the new Thin Mint Frosty Fusion, Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger, or Chicken Tender Ranch Wrap.

The final rule to qualify is that customers must order it on National Chili Day, not the day before or the day after, so be sure to arrive at Wendy's on Thursday, Feb. 26 (a pretty easy date to remember: 2/26/26). If you time it right, you could technically enjoy your leftover free chips and queso from Chipotle with your free Wendy's Chili.
