Patrick Dempsey's Gorgeous Daughter, 24, Totally Steals the Show on BAFTA Red Carpet
While Patrick Dempsey regularly steals the spotlight, he may have been upstaged by his daughter, Talula Dempsey, on Sunday as she joined him on the 2026 BAFTA awards' red carpet.
Patrick, who presented at the UK award show, donned a black suit while Talula coordinated with her dad in a black dress that was complete with a high neckline and low black with sparkling straps in the back.

"Why am I not surprised his daughter is absolutely beautiful," one commenter wrote.
"Wow. She is stunning. Not at all surprising though," another said. "He just gets better and better looking."
"He is so handsome and his daughter is gorgeous," a third agreed.
The actor's wife, Jillian Dempsey, was also on hand as she joined her husband and daughter at the Chanel pre-BAFTA party, according to InStyle.

Along with Talula, Jillian and Patrick are also parents to twin sons Darby and Sullivan.
And while Patrick shared with Parade in January that one of his sons is following in his footsteps by pursuing acting, and the other "doesn’t care about the business," Talula has taken a different direction as a pastry chef. She currently owns her own business, Talula's Kitchen.
"I’m very, very proud of her," he said. "It’s dangerous when she’s home because she’s always experimenting, and I’m always eating way too many sweet treats. And those treats come fresh right out of the oven. Oh my god, I have to be careful."
The Dempsey kids are all grown up now, but Patrick also shared that while they were too young to appreciate his role as "McDreamy" in Grey's Anatomy, they did see his 2004 Disney film.
"When they were younger, they saw Enchanted," he said of the film that also starred Amy Adams. "They couldn’t figure out how I got inside the TV. I always thought that was quite cute. That movie was brilliant and extraordinary."

Beloved 2000s Band Announces Surprise Reunion 3 Years After 'Indefinite Hiatus'
Circa Survive fans got an unexpected surprise on Feb. 23, when the Anthony Green-fronted band's dormant Instagram page came back to life three years after announcing an "indefinite hiatus" to share that they're reuniting to perform at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, KY, in September 2026.

The "Act Appalled" performers, who last played together five years ago, posted the lineup to the event with no comment, and fans quickly noticed that that a "Circa Survive Reunion Show" was slated to take the stage on day three (Saturday) of the four-day event.
"Circa Alive?" joked one fan, while another added, "CIRCA SURVIVED THE HIATUS!" A third wrote, "Just stopped the f--king car, to see if this was true."
View this post on InstagramCirca Survive was formed in 2004 by vocalist Green and guitarist Colin Frangicetto, who added guitarist Brendan Ekstrom, bassist Nick Beard, and drummer Steve Clifford soon after. They put out six albums together before announcing an "indefinite hiatus" in 2022, which Green later admitted was more of a breakup.
However, in that same interview, Green may have secretly been hinting at the reunion all along. "Dude, it's it's been my dream ever since [I was] a young musician to have a band that breaks up and then gets back together... you know what I'm saying?" he told Hardlore in December 2025.

Green, whose other projects include Saosin, L.S. Dunes, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, Audience of One, Jeer at Rome, The Sound of Animals Fighting, and High and Driving, as well as his work as a solo artist, has continued touring and performing on his own. In 2025 alone, he did a solo tour for his new album So Long, Avalon, toured with L.S. Dunes and did a 20th anniversary tour with The Sound of Animals Fighting.
In 2026, he's touring in support of Microwave, but fans are hoping Circa Survive will announce a reunion tour as well.

Why Did Circa Survive Break Up?Circa Survive clarified where the band stood in 2022, calling it an "indefinite hiatus," which Green later told Hardlore was a term "thrusted upon us." But what caused their split in the first place?
"We had a tour for Blue Sky Noise. It was like our 10 year anniversary tour... it was postponed by a pandemic like crazy, and I relapsed right before and had to go to treatment," he explained. "It was like a really stressful time for the band... all their life is is having to deal with me sometimes being accountable, sometimes being not."
The prolific singer said that his relapse got to the point where he "was so far gone" that he needed to take a break to "get help and to focus on that."
"It's a weird situation because, you know, what I want more than anything is for us all just to be friends with each other and regardless of no matter what," he said, adding that they've all stayed in contact and he's spent time with Frangicetto, Ekstrom, and Beard recently. "Circa wasn't just like a band, we were like we were a family... I never imagined the it going away the way it went and none of them would."
While Green confirmed in the interview that the band's breakup was more than a hiatus, he also left fans with hope for a future reunion. "I don't know if the band is ever going to do anything ever again, and even if it did, it wouldn't be the same. It just wouldn't," he said, while also teasing that he was "always down," and "always ready."
"Circus Survive is like the best thing that ever happened to me and I I love it more than anything, he said. "I always want to celebrate it and I always will." Now, fans will get to see the family back together again.
The Louder Than Life festival will take Louisville, KY, by storm from Sept. 17-20, 2026.

‘Too Close for Comfort’ Stars Lydia Cornell and Deborah Van Valkenburgh Reunite and Are Still Stunning
It’s been a few years since Lydia Cornell and Deborah Van Valkenburgh rose to stardom on Too Close for Comfort, but the two actresses are just as stunning in 2026!
Comfort was must-see television back in the '80s, and followed Cornell and Van Valkenburgh alongside Ted Knight and Nancy Dussault in the fun family sitcom. Cornell, 72, who also appeared on other classic ’80s series like The Dukes of Hazzard, The Love Boat, and Quantum Leap, keeps up with fans and followers on social media and is still every bit the blonde beauty she was back in the '80s.
Van Valkenburgh, 73, who played Jackie Rush for five seasons from 1980 to 1985, is also absolutely stunning these days. The actress, who has quite a cult following from her turn in the 1979 film The Warriors, took the ’90s by storm by appearing in several classic series like Quantum Leap, Chicago Hope, and Picket Fences.
The duo recently reunited for a fun photo caught by Cornell on her Instagram account. While she doesn't mention when the shot was taken, it's safe to say that the duo looks better than ever.
"My costar/BFF Deborah Van Valkenburgh, Dottie McQuown (our amazing hairdresser) and me at a reunion lunch for Too Close for Comfort #TooCloseforComfort," Cornell captioned the photo.
View this post on Instagram What's Deborah Van Valkenburgh Up to These Days?Van Valkenburgh still regularly appears on TV series. She appeared in the CW series The Messengers, the 2019 TV movie Hidden in Plain Sight, and had a recurring role in the 2020 Hulu series Helstrom. She also makes regular Comic-Con appearances around the country with her fellow Warriors stars, since the film has such a prolific cult following. However, much of America still holds her in their hearts as Jackie Rush in Too Close for Comfort.
What's Lydia Cornell Up to These Days?Cornell hasn’t ruled out a potential Too Close for Comfort reboot. In July, she told Remind Magazine they’re working on putting it together.
“[My writing partner] Larry and I wrote a Too Close for Comfort reboot,” Cornell shared with the publication. “It’s going really well — centering around a younger generation and maybe having Baby Andrew becomes the Ted Knight (Henry Rush) character. We bring our kids into the house.”
Cornell is also an advocate for sobriety and has shared her journey in the hopes of helping others.
Sober since 1994, she says her journey is a “beautiful, incredible gift.”
“It is truly a miracle,” she told Fox News Digital in 2020. “And I hope my story can help others. If I could help one person overcome their struggles, then revealing my darkest moments is truly worth it.”
View this post on InstagramWhy 'Lord of the Rings' Author Refused to Let Disney Adapt His Work
It's always interesting to wonder about hypothetical scenarios where certain dream projects came to fruition, including the dozens of prospective Disney animated films that ultimately never finished production.
For as many different animated films the studio might have released over the years, however, one project that was never seriously on the table was a formal adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's genre-defining trilogy, The Lord of the Rings.
While the company did express interest in acquiring the rights to the trilogy throughout the 1950s, Tolkien himself strongly opposed any chance of Disney adapting his work to film, citing his personal dislike for both Disney himself and the iconic animator's various films (via OpenCulture).
Above all else, Tolkien took issue with what he viewed as an oversimplification of the classic fairy tales and other fantasy stories Disney sought to adapt, calling the whole of the company's ventures "vulgar" and the project's creator "simply a cheat."
"I recognize his talent, but it has always seemed to me hopelessly corrupted," Tolkien said of the Snow White producer. "Though in most of the ‘pictures’ proceeding from his studios there are admirable or charming passages, the effect of all of them is to me disgusting. Some have given me nausea."
Due to his personal disillusionment with Disney's product, Tolkien outright vetoed any chance "the Disney studios (for all whose workers I have a heartfelt loathing)" might have had of adapting his work.
Interestingly, Tolkien's animosity for Disney's films can be directly traced back to the studio's very first animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Sharing their opinions about the film with Chronicles of Narnia creator C.S. Lewis, Tolkien simultaneously expressed appreciation for the filmmaker's efforts, although he was dissatisfied with the cartoonish quality of the titular dwarves.
"To both Tolkien and Lewis, it seemed, Disney’s dwarves were a gross oversimplification of a concept they held as precious,"Atlas Obscuranoted.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Everything We Know So Far About Season 2
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 finale, which aired last Sunday, has finally drawn the curtains on the escapades of Dunk and Egg – but that’s for now! The hedge knight and his squire are gearing up return to our screens very soon, and not just for a second season, but probably for more. Here’s everything we know so far about Season 2.
What Will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Plot be?Just like the first season, which adapted George R.R. Martin’s 1998 novella The Hedge Knight, the next season will continue the trend – this time adapting the second novella in the series, titled The Sworn Sword. If the show continues, which it likely will – as HBO is reportedly eyeing three seasons – a future season would be based on the third novella, The Mystery Knight.
Just like the first season, fans can expect the next season to remain completely faithful to the source. “The story is the story. We’re going to be 100% faithful to the novellas in that respect,” Ira told The LA Times.
When Will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Premiere? While there is no set release date yet, the next season is expected to hit screens sometime in 2027, likely following the same release schedule as Season 1 with six 30-minute episodes.
Has A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Begun Filming? Now for the good news: yes, Season 2 has already begun filming. And much to our surprise, the second season is quite far along in production. Showrunner Ira Parker recently updated AVClub on the progress, saying, “We are cutting some scenes together now, and the directors are seeing some of it, so it feels nice to see [season two] slowly come together. The show coming out at the same time as we work on it has been a blessing in many ways.”
Who will return for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2?While there has been no official cast announcement yet, fans can expect several recurring characters along with some new faces. Needless to say, Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan "Dunk" the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg will surely be back.

Paul Thomas Anderson Shares Strong Words on the State of Modern Cinema at BAFTAs
In a world where doom-scrolling and 'cinema is dead' discourse has become the internet's favorite pastime, filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson is officially done playing nice. The veteran filmmaker, fresh off a dominant sweep at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards for his latest epic One Battle After Another, decided to give a reality check to those who feel that movies "aren't good anymore."
While accepting the Best Film trophy, Anderson didn’t just thank his cast and crew; he took a swing at a section of critics and armchair experts who claim that modern cinema is not as good as it once was. His message was short, sweet, and punctuated with a colorful verb: anyone who thinks modern cinema has lost its spark should "p--s right off."
"Thank you so much. You have given us so much to celebrate tonight. Thank you for rewarding our film in the way that you have," he said onstage. "And, anybody that says movies aren't good anymore just can p--s right off because this is a great f-----g year."
One Battle After Another takes home the Best Film BAFTA 👏 #EEBAFTAs pic.twitter.com/ahNXNBdtA8
— BAFTA (@BAFTA) February 22, 2026Later in his speech, the Boogie Nights director also paid a homage to the legendary musician Nina Simone, revealing that her artistry helped shape the film's creative vision. Moreover, he urged filmmakers to create bold stories and never hesitate to say what they want to. Anderson said, "We have a line from Nina Simone that we stole in our film. She says, 'I know what freedom is, it's no fear'. So, let's keep making things without fear."
Based on Thomas Pynchon's book titled Vineland, One Battle After Another chronicles the journey of a paranoid former revolutionary named Bob (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), who must save his daughter, Willa (played by Chase Infiniti), from Colonel Lockjaw (played by Sean Penn), a corrupt military officer hunting them. On Sunday, the film was nominated for 14 BAFTAs and took home six trophies, including Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Penn, Best Cinematography, and Adapted Screenplay for Anderson.
View this post on InstagramThis marked the first time Anderson lifted the prestigious Best Picture award at the BAFTAs. Two of his earlier films, There Will Be Blood and Licorice Pizza, were nominated for the same prize, but couldn't win.
One Battle After Another's victory at the BAFTAs makes it clear that it is going as the favorite to win the top prize at this year's Oscars, and it would be interesting to see if the film can secure some victories in the technical categories as well. Nevertheless, Anderson is always rooting for modern cinema and filmmakers. As long as there are people like him in the industry, movie lovers will surely continue to believe in the power of cinema to evolve and inspire new generations.

Nick Reiner Pleads Not Guilty to Murder
Nick Reiner has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his parents Rob and Michele Reiner.
The plea was entered in a Los Angeles courthouse on Monday, Feb. 23. It remains unclear whether Nick’s defense team plans to pursue an insanity defense amid reports he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and struggling with drug addiction.
In photos taken in the courtroom, Nick can be seen wearing a brown jumpsuit and sporting a shaved head with facial hair. Us Weekly also reports he smiled briefly when approached by his lawyer Kimberly Greene.
Nick is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted. It could be more than a year before the 32-year-old faces trial, if the case proceeds that far.
The next court date is set for April 29.
RELATED: Nick Reiner’s Defense Attorney Withdraws From Case
The plea comes nearly two months after Nick's former defense attorney Alan Jackson withdrew from the case.
Jackson stepped away from the case during a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court on Jan. 7. The prolific defense attorney was then replaced with Greene, a public defender.
During a news conference after the hearing, Jackson said he was unable to represent Nick due to circumstances beyond his and Nick’s control, and that he is legally and ethically prohibited from explaining why. However, Jackson made one thing clear: he believes Nick is not guilty of murder under California law.

Rob and Michele Reiner were found murdered in their home on Dec. 14. Later that night, Nick was arrested and charged for the crime.
The Reiner family issued a statement confirming the deaths on the night of Dec. 14.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” the statement read, according to Variety.
Reiner first met Singer while filming When Harry Met Sally. The two married in 1989 and later welcomed three children: Jake, 34, Nick, 32, and Romy, 28. Reiner was also the father of daughter Tracy, 61, from a previous marriage.
'70s TV Actress Hated Her Co-Star So Much She'd 'Pray For Cancellation'
The Welcome Back, Kotter theme song opens with how "your dreams were your ticket out." For Marcia Strassman, who played Julie Kotter on the hit ABCsitcom, her dream was getting out...of her contract so she would never have to work with Gabe Kaplanagain.
Strassman, who died in 2014 at the age of 66, portrayed Mrs. Kotter throughout the show's four-year run (1975-79). Each episode would start and end with a scene of the Kotters at home, but towards the end of the series, Strassman was at her breaking point.
"I'm miserable," she told Peoplemagazine in 1978 (h/t Remind). "Gabe runs hot and cold, one day your best friend, the next day not speaking. Even blatant hostility would be easier to deal with. It has always been hard to act with him, especially in intimate scenes."
"I hate the series. I pray every day for a cancellation. If this is what success means," she said, "maybe I should get married and have babies."
When Kaplan told People he was "shocked that [Marcia] had such hostility," she pointed out that men enjoyed a double standard.
"Men can be temperamental on a show, and they're only temperamental," she said to People. "But if you're the only woman and you express your displeasure, you're a bitch. For three years, my part consisted of saying, 'And what happened, honey?' to Gabe."
Strassman also blamed her five-year contract for her misery; the nature of the deal prevented her from working on any other projects, and she said she had to turn down two movie roles.
After trying to quietly break the contract for 18 months, Strassman unloaded on Kaplan during a press junket. "When I came back to the set," Marcia told People, "the other guys on the show stood in a circle around me to protect me from Gabe. We joked that I should be wearing a bulletproof vest. But the man never said a word. Not a word."
"Nobody from the show came down on me yet," said Marcia. "What could they say? Except the one thing I've always wanted to hear: 'You're fired.'"
Welcome Back, Kotter failed to pull out of the ratings slide. John Travolta, who launched his career on Kotter, was busy starring in films like Carrie, Grease and Saturday Night Fever; he was billed as a "special guest star." Additional changes to the show (turning Mr. Kotter into a vice principal, making Mrs. Kotter the school secretary, and bringing in Della Reese) didn't help, and the show wrapped after the fourth season.
(L-R) Cindy Williams, Penny Marshall and Marcia StrassmanPhoto by Jon Kopaloff on Getty Images
After the final episode, Kaplan and Strassman wouldn't see each other for fifteen years. They would eventually reconcile.
"Our kids wound up going to the same school," Kaplan wrote for Timein 2014, "and when I was in the schoolyard one day, I heard, 'Gabriel!' I knew immediately who it was, and from that point on, we saw each other often."
Strassman spent the 1980s appearing on a variety of television shows, from Magnum, P.I. to Stingray, before landing a starring role in the short-lived series, Booker. She also starred opposite Rick Moranis in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and the sequel, Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.
In 2007, Marcia Strassman was diagnosed with breast cancer. She died of the disease at her home in 2014 at age 66.

When he turned 12, he enrolled at North High School in Springfield, Ohio, graduated as salutatorian of his class, and attended the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania. At UPenn, he served as president of a co-ed a capella group called the Counterparts. He met Lauryn Hill when he was in college, and his career took off from there.

'Bridgerton' Fans Spot Season 5 Spoilers With Funko Pops and New Set Photos
While Bridgerton fans are eagerly waiting to see where Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie's (Yerin Ha) love story takes them next, they are also keeping their eye on Eloise (Claudia Jessie). A recent Funko Pop ad for new Bridgerton additions might have spoiled Eloise being Season 5's main star, with Season 4 set photos adding to speculation.
A TikTok page named PopMarketCollectibles uploaded a video showing off Bridgerton Funko Pops that have been released every season thus far. It begins with Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page), Kate (Simone Ashley) and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), and Colin (Luke Newton), before the newest additions, with Benedict and Sophie as the Lady in Silver.
Fans quickly zoomed in on the last addition being none other than Eloise. While Eloise's Funko Pop had already been released and available to purchase, the video also included a blacked-out Funko Pop appearing beside her.
The mysterious character led fans to believe Bridgerton Season 5 has been seemingly confirmed to be Eloise and Sir Philip's (Chris Fulton) storyline. Fans flooded social media with comments on seeing the Briderton "on the shelf" finally experience love.

"Yess yessss FUNKO POP SIR PHILLIP CRANE Wohoooo, Philoise S5 PHILOISE S5 GUYS," said another.
When asked by the TikTok page if it meant an official confirmation, they simply replied with a nervous face emoji. Bridgertonshowrunner Jess Brownell has previously confirmed Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Eloise will be the next two seasons, but not in what order.
'Bridgerton' fans spot a Season 4 Part 2 clue to Eloise's romanceReleased photos of Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 have fans speculating that the next season will, in fact, be Eloise's. Fans noticed how one photo of her wearing a green dress at a ball has a particular clue. Behind Eloise is a table full of desserts that includes a blue cake and a matching pink cake.
For fans of Eloise's novelTo Sir Phillip, With Love, this might be a big clue. Sir Phillip already has two children, twins, from his marriage to Marina. He's left a widow caring for Oliver and Amanda after Marina's death. The novel has Eloise venture to meet Sir Phillip, where she meets the twins, who don't take much of a liking to her at the start.

Fans speculate that the two cakes may be an indicator of her future storyline, not only marrying Sir Phillip, but also becoming a stepmother to the twins. Can this theory be correct? Possibly.
Another theory circulating on social media is that the person behind Eloise could be a suitor. Actor Adam Hashmi was confirmed to play the role of Lord Adams in Part 2, who appears to be interested in Eloise. An X account detailed how Lord Adams will form a small bond with Eloise, but will ultimately reject him and get her closer to Sir Philip.
‘I’m a Cardiologist—This Is the One Supplement I’d Be Especially Careful With'
Knowing your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers is a great first step to mitigating your risk for cardiovascular disease. Hearing from your healthcare provider that your numbers are high can be alarming, but fortunately, both can be lowered by adopting healthier diet and lifestyle habits, and taking medication when necessary.
“When cholesterol is elevated, the first place to look is lifestyle. In many people, high cholesterol travels together with excess weight, especially when the diet is high in saturated fats, processed foods and excess calories,” says Dr. Maria Delgado-Lelievre, MD, a cardiologist and the founding director of the Comprehensive Hypertension Center in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Delgado-Lelievre explains that the foundation of cholesterol management starts with improving nutrition. “That means limiting saturated fats, reducing ultra-processed foods and focusing on vegetables, fruit, whole grains, beans, nuts, seeds and healthy fats in moderate amounts,” she says.

Cardiologist Dr. Nieca Goldberg, MD, recommends the Mediterranean diet to anyone who wants to maintain healthy cholesterol levels, a way of eating that emphasizes the foods Dr. Delgado-Lelievre just named. She says that regular cardio-based exercise and strength training are important too. “Diet and exercise can lower cholesterol by 12 to 15 mg/dL. It may take three to four months of following the Mediterranean diet and exercise to see an effect on your cholesterol levels,” Dr. Goldberg explains.
Sometimes, medication and supplements play a role in managing cholesterol. But if you are going to take a supplement to help manage your cholesterol, there’s something both cardiologists say you should know first.

What Role Do Statins Play in Lowering Cholesterol? While maintaining a heart-healthy diet and lifestyle habits is important for everyone, both cardiologists say that statins can be crucial for those with high cholesterol. Dr. Goldberg explains that these medications are prescribed to people with high LDL cholesterol and based on their risk for cardiovascular disease. “You can see a lowering of cholesterol three to four weeks after starting the medication,” she says.
Dr. Delgado-Lelievre explains that statins work by helping the liver reduce cholesterol production and clear more LDL from the bloodstream. “Statins don’t just lower numbers. They reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular death. That’s why they are recommended for people at higher cardiovascular risk, especially those who have already had a heart attack or stroke, diabetes or very high LDL levels,” she says. For people at high risk for cardiovascular disease, she adds that statins are not just about cholesterol; they play a key role in cardiovascular disease-prevention.
Related: 'After a Period of High Cholesterol, I Lowered It by 66 mg/dL in 2 Months—Here's What I Did'
Sometimes, statins aren’t enough to lower LDL cholesterol or they are not tolerated well. In these cases, Dr. Delgado-Lelievre says that other prescription medications may be prescribed that work by reducing cholesterol absorption in the intestine. “The choice of medication depends on a person’s overall cardiovascular risk, not just a single cholesterol number,” she explains.
The Supplement for Heart Health Cardiologists Say To Be Careful WithWhether you’re currently on prescription medication to lower cholesterol or you just want to do everything you can to support your cardiovascular health, you may have considered taking a supplement for additional support. Considering that nearly half of all U.S. adults have one or more cardiovascular conditions, it’s a major market the supplement industry is capitalizing on and there’s no shortage of options to consider.
But both cardiologists say to be careful—and skeptical—of any supplement claiming to lower cholesterol quickly. “Be cautious of products that promise dramatic cholesterol reductions without lifestyle changes. If something claims to ‘replace statins’ or ‘cure heart disease,’ that is a red flag,” Dr. Delgado-Lelievre says.
She adds that another red flag is seeing a supplement all over social media without scientific backing. Remember: Supplements are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration.
Related: Cardiologists Are Begging People To Stop Ignoring This Important Cholesterol Number
“Many commonly used supplements, including garlic, bergamot, CoQ10 and B vitamins, do not meaningfully lower cholesterol,” Dr. Goldberg tells Parade. Considering a supplement with plant sterols? She says these supplements may lower LDL cholesterol slightly, but don't expect a major difference.
Both cardiologists mention that red yeast rice supplements are also commonly marketed as cholesterol-lowering, but it’s important to discuss taking one with your healthcare provider first. “Red yeast rice contains a naturally occurring compound similar to a low-dose statin. It can reduce LDL cholesterol modestly. However, because it acts similarly to a statin, it can also carry similar side effects, and the amount of active ingredient varies widely between products,” Dr. Delgado-Lelievre says.
Dr. Delgado-Lelievre shares that cholesterol-lowering supplements are a misunderstood area, unlike statins and eating plans like the Mediterranean diet and DASH diet, which are all backed by vast scientific evidence.
This is why it’s worth it to talk to your healthcare provider before taking any type of supplement for heart health, especially if you are already taking prescription medications. “Supplements may have a role for some lower-risk individuals, but they are not appropriate for people who have already had a heart attack or stroke, have very high LDL levels or are at high cardiovascular risk. In those cases, evidence-based medical therapy is essential,” Dr. Delgado-Lelievre says.
Instead of depending on a supplement that may or may not be beneficial, Dr. Goldberg says to work with your healthcare provider to manage your cardiovascular risk, explaining, “Supplements are often not enough to lower your cholesterol."
Supplements claiming to be as effective as statins or have the ability to lower cholesterol fast should be looked at skeptically. Besides being a waste of money, they may do more harm than good.

Benicio Del Toro Reflects on His Mother’s Death When He Was 9
Speaking candidly about grief, Benicio del Toro opened up about his mother’s death when he was a child.
Del Toro’s mother, Fausta Genoveva Sánchez Rivera, died of hepatitis when he was just 9 years old.
“I’m still dealing with it,” the One Battle After Another actor, 59, told The Hollywood Reporter in a cover story published on Monday, February 23. “I had my mother for nine years. What is crazy about losing a parent at that age is that there hasn’t been one day in my life that I haven’t thought about her.”

(Photo by Dominic Lipinski/Getty Images)When del Toro met Japanese director Kaneto Shindo, he discovered that he, too, had lost his mother at 9 years old, and later made a film about her to further cope with and understand his grief.
"I asked, ‘Did that help deal with that pain? To make the film. Did it cure something? Did it repair something?’ " del Toro recalled, to which Shindo replied, "Absolutely nothing."
Del Toro is a parent himself. He and Kimberly Stewart, one of Rod Stewart’s daughters, welcomed their daughter, Delilah Genoveva Stewart del Toro, on August 21, 2011.
Speaking about fatherhood in 2016, del Toro said, “I try to stay under the radar now. I'm a father, and that changes everything … I'm thinking about the future of another human being who I'm in love with.”
‘FBI’ Stars John Boyd and Shantel VanSanten Tease Scolina Wedding Shock: 'A Near-Death Experience Changes Everything' (Exclusive)
FBI is making its midseason return with a bang — both a literal one and an emotional one. Some bad guys have got some very big guns, and Scolina's getting married!
While stars John Boyd andShantel VanSanten hope you've been enjoying the Winter Olympics in the meantime, they're particularly excited for the premiere. It's a big moment for Scola (Boyd) and Nina (VanSanten), who share a son and a lot of hang-ups when it comes to their relationship, including its future. Can two FBI agents have a happy marriage? They're about to find out, after they take down some bad guys and nearly die, of course.
Here's how Boyd describes the episode, titled "Confetti."
"We pick up with Nina and Maggie (Missy Peregrym) going undercover. There's a huge wedding scene. There's crime, there's murder, there's a twist, there's betrayal, there's name-calling, there's an organized crime ring. It's two crime families that come together in a wedding, and there's an exciting twist. And it ends with a happy ending, maybe."
"For once," added VanSanten. "A little spark of joy."
The two spoke to Parade about their long-awaited nuptials, which arrive after a particularly harrowing career moment for both of them. Nina's undercover with Maggie, Scola and the rest of the team are monitoring the situation through cameras and earpieces, and things go (as they always do) sideways. But what else is going to happen at a mob wedding?
Whatever does happen changes something for the couple, even if it doesn't change their circumstances. They're still both constantly putting themselves in danger for their work, and maybe, occasionally, for the thrill of it. They're also still learning how to think of someone other than themselves and the case at hand, and this particular case is an especially tough challenge.

"That theme is something that, for the entirety of their relationship, as long as they're doing this job, that will be there," Van Santen said. "Just…It's different. From Nina's perspective, I think she's really engrossed in this case, and she's been in it for two months and isn't ready to not be in on it and let it go. She wants to see it through, and obviously, something has to sacrifice for that to happen. Not everything can be perfectly balanced, and I think it skews her vision and her words to her partner."
"My reaction [to this episode] was that it's interesting that it's the same theme, but it seems to cut deeper," Boyd said. "It seems to hurt more, it's more complicated, they're lashing out…it's cutting at the fabric of their relationship. That's what struck me and what I was excited to see, because of the payoff…It makes the repair more significant."
Sometimes, it takes what VanSanten calls "a near-death experience...that changes everything" to help make everything clearer.

And no, as far as Boyd and VanSanten can remember, not a single person quoted The Godfather while shooting a mob wedding.
"There were definitely a lot of jokes being made, but…with the other wedding that was happening, before our wedding, that day of shooting was so intense that we didn't make as many jokes," Van Santen said. "There were so many moving parts, so much action and stunts to coordinate and heels to try and fight and run in that I didn't think about making a Godfatherjoke that day. I should have. Missed opportunity."
Van Santen doesn't know (or can't say) if Nina will be back to work alongside her new husband again this season, but she and Boyd are both waiting for a call from the new spin-off, CIA. Crossovers between FBI and CIA are planned (especially since that is essentially the premise of the new show), and they are ready to join at any time.
"I know there's a few of us that are going," Boyd said. "I'm still waiting for my name to be called, but that's okay. They know where to find me. I also come with…"
"We're a package deal," Van Santen added.
"If they need a married couple to help with anything, we're always there for them," Boyd continued. "I've heard great things, and I know my castmates have been excited, and it's gonna be a very exciting night. We're super happy to get to lead in for them. We'll be watching, for sure."
Tune in Monday at 8 p.m. to see how Nina and Scola's "I do"s turn out, followed by the series premiere of the new FBI spinoff CIA.
Kelly Osbourne Claps Back At 'Disgusting' Comments About Her Recent Appearance: 'No One Deserves This Abuse'
Kelly Osbourne is breaking her silence on the recent criticisms surrounding her appearance, calling the comments "disgusting" and offensive.
According to People magazine, the 41-year-old TV personality and daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne took to social media to slam critiques over her recent physical appearance.
In particular, Osbourne took to Instagram to repost screenshots one of user who wrote of the celebrity, "Looks like a dead body... She's too thin and fragile... Looks like she's going to see her dad soon."
"Literally can't believe how disgusting some human beings truly are! No one deserves this sort of abuse!" Osbourne wrote in response.
In her Instagram Stories, the 41-year-old appeared to similarly address the comments, writing, "This too shall pass, but like, holy f**k."
Osbourne's comments come only a few short months after her previous criticism of those negatively appraising her physical appearance. In December of last year, People magazine reported that Osbourne formally addressed the "disgusting, horrible, mean, rude comments" she received online, citing her personal struggles following the death of her father Ozzy as the defining issue in her life right now.
"I'm just here to say, 'What do you expect from me? What do you expect me to look like right now?'" Osbourne said on Instagram. "The fact that I'm getting out of bed and facing my life and trying to be more than enough, I should be commended for that."
Continuing on, Osbourne advised anyone critical of her appearance to "take a strong, hard look at themselves," with the singer saying that any criticism she received served as a reflection of users' own insecurities.
"For example, you say that I look ill. Well, I am ill right now. My life is completely flipped upside down. I don't understand how people expect me to bounce back and look like everything is just fine in my life when it's not," Osbourne went on to say.
BBC Producers Offer Excuse for Airing Racial Slur at BAFTAs: 'Didn't Hear' It
The 79th annual British Academy Film Awards, or BAFTAs, were last night. But all anyone's talking about today is the Tourette's fallout.
Early in the show, as Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented the first award for best visual effects (which went to Avatar: Fire and Ash), John Davidson, a man with Tourette's who was in the audience, shouted the N-word followed by "bi—." The two actors, who are Black, paused, then continued with their presentation.
View this post on InstagramThe broadcast containing the slur remained on BBC iPlayer overnight before it was taken down. Following backlash, the network apologized and said they would re-edit the show.
According to The Guardian, producers of the broadcast said they didn't hear the N-word being yelled, because they were working from a truck, and therefore mistakenly aired the slur. Per the publication, however, “several other incidents of inappropriate language were cut out, but that moment was missed.”
Kemi Badenoch, a British politician who has served as Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Conservative Party since November 2024, said the network made a “horrible mistake” for failing to edit out the N-word.
Lindo has also spoken out. Speaking about the incident to Vanity Fair at an after-party, he said we “did what we had to do” but “wished someone from BAFTA spoke to us afterwards.”
During the show, BAFTAs host Alan Cumming apologized for the outbursts and explained the involuntary nature of Tourette's syndrome.
“You may have noticed some strong language in the background,” Cumming said. “This can be part of how Tourette’s syndrome shows up for some people as the film explores that experience. Thanks for your understanding and helping create a respectful space for everyone.”
Later, he added, “Tourette’s Syndrome is a disability and the tics you’ve heard tonight are involuntary, which means the person who has Tourette’s syndrome has no control over their language. We apologize if you are offended tonight.”
In response to the fan backlash, the BBC pulled the BAFTAs from iPlayer.
“Some viewers may have heard strong and offensive language during the BAFTA Film Awards," a network spokesperson said. "This arose from involuntary verbal tics associated with Tourette syndrome, and as explained during the ceremony it was not intentional. We apologize that this was not edited out prior to broadcast and it will now be removed from the version on BBC iPlayer.”
