Turlington, 57, rose to stardom in the ’90s as one of the fashion world’s legendary supermodels alongside Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford. In a fun vacation snap, the statuesque beauty showed off her gray hair. At a time when women feel the pressure to cover every inch of their grays, it’s refreshing to see Turlington, who has made a name for herself in recent years as an activist and documentarian working to advocate for the health of mothers during pregnancy and childbirth, take hold of her natural beauty and show it off. What a beauty!

Back in February, Turlington headed to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City to close out the Michael Kors Fall/Winter 2026 Runway Show in a stunning black ensemble. But one of the most noticeable components of her look was the gray roots in her hair peeking through.

After going back to school at 26 to get her undergrad degree at NYU, Turlington returned to school at 39 to get a master’s in public health. She’s the founder of Every Mother Counts, a maternal health care nonprofit organization. While she has two children, she previously told Glamour that the organization is “very much like my third child.”

In regard to her best professional advice, Turlington advised that people “cultivate meaningful relationships.”

“I really do try to listen very attentively to any kind of personal story that someone is sharing with me. Not in any kind of game way, but in a true way. Because the more I can absorb in whatever amount of time that I spend with anyone, the more closely we can connect and the more that I will be able to take forward into another relationship at some point,” she said. “There are so many relationships I’ve had since I was a teenager in my first profession that, while I don’t see people very frequently, they come in really handy in other areas of life. The more you put in at the very beginning, I think, the possibilities are that much greater. You just never know where anyone is going to move on to or be.”

Joseph Trohman is the lead guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Fall Out Boy. The iconic band has had four top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down,” “Dance, Dance,” “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race,” and “Centuries.”

Today, Trohman turns 42. He was only a teenager when the band formed, and he was 20 when they released their breakthrough album, From Under the Cork Tree, in 2005. The album reached number nine on the Billboard 200 and earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

In 2022, Trohman released a book called None of This Rocks: A Memoir, which has a 4.7-star rating on Amazon. In the book, he speaks in detail about his mental health.

When promoting the book, he spoke to Variety about the fact that the band has never shied away from discussing their emotions. “When we started Fall Out Boy, we were doing things lyrically that were very much about tapping into deep, emotional dark wells that were not okay to talk about,” he said. “Yeah, we were made fun of for that, of course, but it didn’t seem to hurt the band.”

He also spoke about the struggles that he has faced throughout the years. “There were still moments that were incredibly fun, and I had to be really present for, but then there were all these other moments where things were moving so fast,” he said. “They’re blazing past me, and I just couldn’t catch up to it and I felt lost. I just desperately want to find some sort of identity. When you’re a creative person, you do want to put your mark on stuff, and I felt like I was having a really hard time doing that in a band that was so prolific. Everybody was such a heavy brute-force creatively.””

Feeling dizzy can certainly be disorienting. It can make you feel woozy, off-balance and even nauseous. 

What causes this strange feeling? Typically, feeling dizzy is a sign that something has impacted your sense of balance. The central nervous system, ears and eyes all play important roles in maintaining spatial awareness and balance. 

Dr. Dara Lee Lewis, MD, a preventive cardiologist with Mass General Brigham Heart & Vascular Institute, says that dehydration is a common cause of dizziness. “Most people will feel dizzy at times, and often this is due to dehydration. Any time we lose more salt and fluids than we take in—such as through sweating, diarrhea, vomiting, skipped meals or certain medications, including diuretics—we can become dizzy. If drinking fluids and electrolytes helps you feel better, then dehydration was the most likely cause,” she tells Parade.

But it isn’t just dehydration that can cause dizziness. Dr. Lee Lewis says that it could be a sign that your blood pressure is off. Here, she shares how you can know for sure what’s causing dizziness and when it’s important to see a doctor about it.

The First Question a Cardiologist Asks About When Someone Feels Dizzy

If a patient tells Dr. Lee Lewis that they’re feeling dizzy, she says that the first questions she asks are geared toward getting a better understanding of what they mean.

“The term ‘dizziness’ can mean different things to different people, so I start by asking them to describe exactly what they are feeling. Some people feel lightheaded, as if they might faint. Others feel a sense of motion or that the room is spinning.  Then I ask, ‘What makes the dizziness worse, and what makes it better?’” she explains.

After asking these initial questions, the first test Dr. Lee Lewis runs is checking blood pressure. “I often see patients who have low blood pressure, which can cause dizziness that is worse when they stand up and better when they lie down,” she says, explaining that dizziness caused by low blood pressure feels different from dizziness caused by a problem in the inner ear or brain, which feels more like a spinning sensation.

“This type of dizziness is often worse with head movement rather than the upright position,” she tells Parade. 

This is exactly why she asks questions about what exactly the dizziness feels like: Dizziness caused by a problem with the cardiovascular system feels different from dizziness caused by a problem in the inner ear or brain.

Cardiovascular Issues That Can Cause Dizziness

As Dr. Lee Lewis has explained, low blood pressure can lead to feeling dizzy, specifically when standing up. “Any condition that causes the blood pressure to drop can cause dizziness. These might include excessively slow or excessively fast heart rate, overmedication with blood pressure-lowering medicines and dehydration,” she says.

The reason why low blood pressure can cause dizziness is because it leads to cerebral hypoperfusion, which means the brain is temporarily receiving less blood flow and oxygen than it needs. 

Dr. Lee Lewis adds that some health conditions, such as advanced diabetes and Parkinson’s disease, can also cause a drop in blood pressure and lead to dizziness when standing upright. She explains that it isn’t unusual for people with advanced diabetes or Parkinson’s disease to frequently experience dizzy spells. 

Diabetics experience dizziness for a different reason than why people with low blood pressure experience it. The dizziness that diabetics experience is due to low blood sugar. When blood sugar drops below 70 mg/dL, the brain loses its main source of fuel. This lack of energy is what causes the dizziness.

When To See a Doctor About Dizziness

If you’re feeling dizzy, Dr. Lee Lewis says that the first step is to sit down, drink some water and have something to eat. Remember, dehydration is a common cause of dizziness. If you’ve been outside in the heat, working out or have lost a lot of fluid through sweat for some other reason, she recommends drinking an electrolyte drink.

If the dizziness is so severe that you come close to fainting or you do faint, that’s when Dr. Lee Lewis notes it’s important to see a doctor ASAP.

“If dizziness is accompanied by a feeling of palpitations, racing or skipping heartbeat, this would also be a reason to see a doctor. But if the dizziness is mild and gets better on its own, it can usually be managed at home,” she adds. 

Certainly, if dizzy spells are something you’re experiencing frequently, that’s another reason to see a doctor. With your doctor’s help, you can pinpoint the root cause of your dizziness and treat it accordingly. No one should have to suffer through dizzy spells, and once you know the reason they’re happening, you’ll no longer have to.

Aunt Becky’s officially back! On Monday, August 31, Lori Loughlin returned to Instagram, re-instating her account after nearly seven years away. Why Did Lori Loughlin Leave Instagram?

Fans and friends were thrilled to welcome Loughlin back, too, after her seven-year absence from social media. The actress deleted her Instagram account in March 2019, per People, on the same day news broke that she and her now-estranged husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were accused of playing a role in a national college admissions scandal.

After they both pleaded guilty in May 2020, Loughlin was sentenced to two months in federal prison and was released that December, while Giannulli was sentenced to five months. After nearly 28 years of marriage and two daughters, the couple confirmed in October 2025 they were separating.

Nikki DeLoach and Ashley Williams have a knack for putting the “fun” in fundraising. The beloved Hallmark Channel stars are just two weeks away from hosting their annual Dance Party to End ALZ on Sunday, September 13, and they might be losing their minds a little as they pull everything together for the star-studded fundraiser.

On Monday, August 31, the Hallmark besties posted a hilarious video to highlight last-minute details about the Los Angeles event, as well as ways fans around the world can be part of the fun. In the video, DeLoach is seen leaning back on a couch as she begins to lip sync to Taylor Swift‘s hit song “…Are You Ready?” She then unzips her jacket and Williams pops out, belting out the lyrics, with hair plastered to her head from the static cling.

In 2022, DeLoach and Williams took over hosting duties for the Dance Party to End ALZ, which was founded in 2017 by Williams’ sister, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley. Since its launch, the event has raised over $2 million to help fund grants for important research into Alzheimer’s and dementia through the Alzheimer’s Association.

Though the actresses always have a blast dancing the night away with friends and fans at the Dance Party to End ALZ, their passion stems from a serious mission and tough losses. Ever since forms of the disease caused the cognitive decline and eventual deaths of the Williams sisters’ mom in 2016 and DeLoach’s dad in 2021, they’ve been committed to helping find ways to cure and prevent Alzheimer’s.

“Every year, this event reminds us of the incredible power of community,” Williams and DeLoach said in a statement. “So many families, including our own, have been impacted by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Multigenerational talented women in music— from the 1970’s, Gen X, the Aughts, and today—joined Olivia Rodrigo in kicking off the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival. The outstanding effort raised over 20 million dollars, including a matching donation from Melinda French Gates to support women’s and girls’ causes, and was blessed at the end of the night by the one and only Stevie Nicks.

Attendees got the opportunity to get to know the 10 organizations that advocate for women’s and girls’ rights at a special pavilion, which featured access to representatives from Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center, and Planned Parenthood.

The accessibility to not only learn more about their specific initiatives, but also find out how you can help those in your community who are in need, is something that can get lost in the digital age. It was a powerful reminder of the impact of simply showing up, especially for younger generations who rarely experience it firsthand. The praise cannot be overstated; this is what mutual aid is all about, and I hope that next year this hub expands its offerings to enable more action, such as larger in-person donation stations (let us bring clothes for swaps) and kit-building for festival-goers who need support in the moment.

Seeing diverse, women-led small shops supported and uplifted by Etsy through an on-site market was genuinely inspiring. The space transformed the typical online scrolling experience into something participatory, allowing attendees to connect with the stories behind each creator and the meaning behind their work. Additionally, we loved that many of the food vendors were women-led, including viral ice cream brand Salt & Straw, which created a special Daisy Chain Fields Sugar Cookie flavor that quickly sold out on-site. The flavor was also available at select locations, with 100% of proceeds supporting the same 10 charities backed by the festival. Looking ahead, we’d love to see more brands create Daisy Chain Fields collaborations—both at the event and for fans at home—to extend the impact beyond the festival weekend.

3. Hydration and relaxation stations

Of course, there was plenty of access to water and spots to sit throughout the grounds. The festival itself moved quickly to make sure water was readily available, as Southern California experienced a heat wave, and several sponsors stationed comfort zones, including Athleta’s field of bean bag loungers around their festival-exclusive athleisure wear. We’d like to see more health and mindfulness sponsors step in to expand the festival’s wellness offerings in the years to come. Women’s health screenings and additional restorative spaces would be great to see. And for the end of the night, perhaps improved transportation options like pedi-cabs or other safe exit solutions could help ensure a smoother, safer experience for women and girls after dark.

Stevie Nicks gracing the masses with a wondrous rendition of Landslide, while casting a blessing on Olivia’s intentions with Daisy Chain Field’s future, set the tone for the night. It’s important to note that all the surprise guests represented generations of women whose music has led to undeniable strides in women’s history. Nicks, Lilith Fair founder Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, and even co-headliners like Shirley Manson of Garbage gave their presence and voices to be the change. Rodrigo’s guests highlighted that many of the issues they faced still exist today, especially when it comes to agency over our own bodies.

The Gen Z pop star has started a movement that embraces community and womanhood across eras and issues that define us from girlhood. Her closing set felt like a defining signature on what the festival is poised to evolve into as her trajectory continues upward.

In 1974, CBS introduced television audiences to the Evans family, who felt as vibrant, resilient, and real as any on prime-time TV. Developed by legendary producer Norman Lear, Good Times captured viewers’ hearts with its sharp humor and relatable daily struggles.

Every week, millions tuned in to watch an ensemble whose chemistry practically radiated through the screen. When the cameras were rolling, that bond was undeniable. But the moment a scene wrapped, the lively chatter disappeared.

After years of simmering tension, artistic clashes, and quiet protests over the direction of the show, key cast members had reached a breaking point. Some were no longer speaking to one another off-camera.

According to Medium, the show, a spinoff of Maude, was conceived to be a vehicle for actress Esther Rolle, who played Florida Evans. The original premise was that Florida was a single mother, but Rolle wanted her character to be married and depict a nuclear black family on television.

The first episode changed the show’s initial direction immediately. According to the outlet, Jimmie Walker (JJ Evans) became the show’s breakout star after the first time he uttered the catchphrase, “Dynomite.”

The rift grew quickly as J.J.’s runaway popularity created deep friction on set. Both Rolle and John Amos were said to have grown frustrated with the shift, but Amos was especially vocal. Dedicated to portraying an authentic, dignified Black family, he repeatedly clashed with showrunners over storylines that traded genuine family drama for cheap slapstick gags.

In an interview with Sway in the Morning, Amos discussed why he stepped away from the series in Season 3. ““The truth of it was when the show first started, we had no African-American writers on the show, and some of the attitudes they had written, as per my character and, frankly, for some of the other characters as well, caused me to say, ‘Uh uh, we can’t do this, we can’t do that.’ And they’d say, ‘What do you mean we can’t do this?'”

Amos continued to air his grievances until he received a call from showrunner Lear. The actor explained, “Norman [Lear] had called me one day and said, ‘John, I’ll share two things with you: The good news is the show has been picked up for another 24 more episodes’—which was a given because we were in the top 10—’The bad news is that you won’t be with us.’ So there was a long, long pause and Norman said, ‘Are you still there?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m still here.’ But I wasn’t. I was no longer with the show.”

Decades later, Walker confirmed just how distant the ensemble had become. In a 2017 interview with the Television Academy, the actor admitted he never spoke with Rolle or Amos unless the cameras were rolling.

“I will honestly say, I don’t remember ever speaking a word to Esther the whole time she was there,” Walker said. “I think the same basically goes for John [Amos].”

Walker continued, “We were never friends. We never talked. If you said at that time, ‘Call Esther and ask her about…’ I wouldn’t even have her number. I couldn’t have called John. I wouldn’t have had his number. We never spoke to each other. Only on the set.”

Good Times aired on CBS from February 8, 1974, to August 1, 1979, running for six seasons and 133 episodes.

Johnny Burnette released the rock and roll song “You’re Sixteen” in 1960. The song, which was written by the Sherman Brothers, rose all the way to number eight on the Billboard Hot 100. The song gained even more popularity when it was covered by Ringo Starr in 1973. His version hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Johnny died in 1964 at the age of 30. He drowned in a boating accident while on his small fishing boat on Clear Lake, California.

In an interview with Vintage Rock Mag, his son, Rocky Burnette, who is also a singer, spoke about the incident. “We had gone up to Clear Lake three years in a row,” he explained. “It was a great place to go fishing, and that’s what my dad loved to do. However, that’s probably one vacation we should have skipped. It’s 68 square miles, and the largest natural freshwater lake in the state, yet the only two boats out there collided with each other, and my dad was sitting in a bad part of the boat.”

Rocky continued, “We really didn’t know anything at first. We just knew he was missing. They were hoping that maybe he’d show up on shore someplace, but three or four days later, they found his body.”

He also spoke about one uncomfortable interaction with a fan. “One time, when I was playing in the UK, I had a guy in Scotland ask me how my dad died and if his head had been all cut up in the blades of the boat,” he recalled. “I said, ‘Look, I know we’re talking the same language, but I’m having a hard time following you… Are you really asking me that question?’ But to tell you the truth, I don’t know the answer because I didn’t go to the funeral. Nobody ever talked to us about what exactly happened.”

“You’re Sixteen” was Johnny’s biggest song, which was recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He had several other popular songs throughout his career, including “Dreamin’” and “The Train Kept A-Rollin.’”

You may know “Love Me for a Reason” as an Osmonds classic, but the group wasn’t the first to record the 1974 song. 

Written and first recorded by American musician Johnny Bristol, “Love Me for a Reason” appeared on his 1974 album Hang On in There Baby. Bristol’s version was released as a single through MGM that year, but it was The Osmonds’ rendition that would ultimately make the song a major international hit. 

The family group recorded their version for MGM in 1974, giving the song a polished pop treatment that was more intimate than what fans typically expected from them. The brothers felt its message was wholesome enough to fit their image and agreed to record it.

The song proved to be a strong choice. The Osmonds’ “Love Me for a Reason” reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming their final U.S. Top 10 hit. It performed even better on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, peaking at No. 2. Across the Atlantic, the song was an even bigger success, spending three weeks at No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart in August 1974. 

The hit came during the height of The Osmonds’ extraordinary rise to fame. The siblings had begun performing together as the Osmond Brothers, with Alan Osmond, Wayne Osmond, Merrill Osmond and Jay Osmond forming a barbershop quartet. Their younger brothers Donny Osmond and Jimmy Osmond eventually joined them, and the group became known simply as The Osmonds.

The family’s breakthrough came in the 1960s after they began appearing on The Andy Williams Show. By the early ’70s, The Osmonds had become major pop stars, with hits like “One Bad Apple” making the family a fixture in American music. 

“Love Me for a Reason” also showed that The Osmonds could take a song from outside their usual repertoire and make it feel like their own. Their harmonies gave the track a distinctly Osmonds sound, helping turn it into one of their most successful recordings of the decade.

The song’s story didn’t end with The Osmonds. Twenty years later, Irish boy band Boyzone recorded “Love Me for a Reason” for their debut album, Said and Done. Released in 1994, their version became another international success, reaching the Top 10 in several countries and introducing the song to an entirely new generation. 

As the group’s run wound down, the Osmond siblings pursued different paths, from solo careers to Donny’s successful partnership with his sister, Marie Osmond. The group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003, and the siblings reunited to celebrate The Osmonds’ 50th anniversary in 2007.

Dominic Monaghan is no stranger to the realm of magic. After all, this is someone whose career grew tall as a short-statured hobbit 25 years ago, starring as Merry in the iconic Lord of the Rings movies. So, in theory, it was only a matter of time that, a quarter century after talking with giant trees, we would see him breaking out of one.

During its original run, The Librarians brought some of Middle-Earth’s biggest denizens into its travels across space and time. Across four seasons, the TNT series saw the likes of Sean Astin and John Noble appear in guest stints. Monaghan, however, is far from a flash-in-the-pan cameo. Indeed, he has been a major part of Season 2 of the spinoff The Librarians: The Next Chapter, serving as a modern-day incarnation of the famous medieval wizard Merlin.

“I had a phone call with my agent who said, ‘Listen, Dean Devlin would love to sit down and talk to you about an idea. You should go meet him,'” Monaghan recalls in an exclusive interview with Parade. “I hadn’t met him before, so I drove over to his offices. And he just said, ‘Listen, we’re just about to go to Serbia to start this season. We have this idea of this really dynamic character who comes in for this arc in the season, and just basically just throws a whole bunch of s—t in the air and sees how the librarians deal with it. He’s a thousands-of-years-old wizard, smartest guy in the room. But unfortunately, he’s addicted to magic in the way that people are addicted to other modalities, so that’s a real weakness for him. And I just kind of thought, ‘There’s something I can do here. I can try and find the humanity in that. So it was an easy yes for me.'”

Dominic Monaghan served a pivotal role in the first few seasons of ABC’s ‘Lost’ as former rock star and current drug addict Charlie Pace

One of the biggest pieces of Devlin’s pitch to Monaghan was the character’s “addiction” to magic, his compulsion to wield a spell. It’s a headspace that the 49-year-old is not afraid to live in, considering his most famous TV character. For multiple years, he played Charlie Pace on Lost, a former rock star and drug addict facing his worst demons while also fighting for survival on an island festooned with polar bears, mysterious “Others,” and the occasional smoke monster.

As Monaghan describes it, “I’ve played people that struggle with those things. They are also real people walking among us. You need to make them human. You need to find the humanity. The easy idea is to make them a monster, to make them this ghoulish character that sleeps until 9:00 at night and isolates themselves. But that’s not true of a lot of addicts. They’re fully functioning members of society, and they just have this particular issue.”

Across three seasons and change, Monaghan has a veritable mixtape of acting highlights (or “greatest hits,” perhaps). There’s Charlie’s scenes with Claire (Emilie De Ravin), a burgeoning romance as sweet as imaginary peanut butter. There’s the number of hijinks he got into with Hurley (Jorge Garcia), from island golf to jumpstarting an old van from the ’70s. And, of course, there’s his tragic death in the Season 3 finale, considered by many to be the best episode in the show’s history. But, when asked what his favorite scene to shoot was, Monaghan goes a smidge outside the Looking Glass.

“There’s a scene in the penultimate episode of the third season where Charlie is sat on a boat talking to Desmond about some of the greatest hits of his life,” he describes. “And he’s talking about Claire and meeting Claire for the first time. And it’s a long monologue where Charlie stumbles upon this beautiful girl on the beach. And I wasn’t sure how to play it. So I just thought that, usually when I’m not sure how to play something, the natural kind of instinct is to just play it right down the middle. Just play it kind of flat, and let the audience kind of put the emotion into it.

“So I played it like that, and then when I watched it back, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s perfect.’ Because what he’s saying is emotional and sad. And it doesn’t need any more than that. Because [Michael] Giacchino, the composer, is going to put all that music on there. And you’re going to see this flashback; you’re going to see this scene. So I really like that, just in terms of, as an actor, being able to do stuff.”

It’s a poignant moment for the character in more ways than one. Throughout Season 3, Desmond has told Charlie he’s foreseen his death. And while the two have spent many episodes trying to avoid that outcome, when a mission arrives to swim down to a seemingly abandoned station to help send a signal and get rescued, Charlie knows what to do. He succeeds in getting the message out, but seals his own fate by sealing himself into the room as it floods with water. In an incredibly moving scene, Charlie meets his end, sacrificing himself to save those who have helped save him for close to 100 days.

“If you’re a ‘Lostie,’ you’re aware of the fact that in Episode 1, Charlie has ‘FATE’ written in band-aids across his four fingers,” Monaghan says. “And I don’t think this is necessarily something that Damon [Lindelof] planned on. But when he looked back at the pilot, he thought, ‘Oh, we could use this.’ Charlie knows. He knows that he’s supposed to die to at least save Claire and Aaron, and, to a lesser extent, the rest of those castaways on the island.

“A lot of people say to me, ‘Why don’t you just swim out of the hatch? Why don’t you just swim out the window and go up to the top of the ocean?’ And I always say, ‘No, it’s a choice.’ He stays because he knows. He knows that if he swims out of the hatch, Claire and Aaron are probably going to die. But if he stays, they survive. And I love the fact that it’s purposeful.”

Lost became an instant hit for not only its ensemble of complicated characters, but the many mysteries around both the island and its denizens. This, of course, served as red meat for the fanbase, which filled message boards across the internet with theories about the show in the 2000s. And, of the many guesses fans told to Monaghan over the years, one sticks out particularly.

“I mean, a lot of it was like, ‘It’s only one guy,'” he recounts. “It might only be Locke or Jack or Sawyer or Jacob that’s washed up on the island, and it’s their dying dream. They’re delirious and they almost died in a shipwreck and they’re lying on a beach, and they’re just having this dream. The final credits of Lost is a beach. It’s just an empty beach with the waves lapping up, and a lot of fan theory has said, ‘Well, that means there’s no one there. It never really happened. It’s just this kind of strange fantasy, and then when you actually look at the beach, there’s no one there. There’s no plane crash. There’s no one there.’ I like that theory.”

Considering the volume of magical work he’s been able to give us for decades, including his recent work as Merlin, it looks like we can add The Librarians: The Next Chapter to Dominic Monaghan’s seemingly endless list of greatest hits.

If you’ve spent years tracking sea days to reach the next tier of cruise perks, big changes have officially arrived at Carnival Cruise Line.

The brand is retiring its legacy VIFP (Very Important Fun Person) program in favor of Carnival Rewards, an all-new loyalty ecosystem designed to reward how guests actually vacation today. Instead of solely measuring nights slept at sea, the new structure introduces a dynamic mix of redeemable points, status-qualifying “Stars,” milestone celebrations, and the ability to earn status on everyday credit card spending.

As Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, explained: “Cruise loyalty has traditionally been built around how often guests sail, and Carnival Rewards was designed to go beyond that. The new program recognizes the many ways our guests engage with Carnival, and with both rewards and status, we’re giving guests more flexibility and more value to enjoy the experiences that matter most to them. Simply put: Your cruise, Your rewards. Your way.”

According to leadership, the overhaul represents four years of development aimed at putting value into cruisers’ hands from their very first sailing.

“Today, we have a program [as do] most cruise lines…that’s very much focused on just rewarding frequency and longevity,” said Sid Krishna, Vice President of Loyalty at Carnival Cruise Line. “[We] wanted to create a program where there are rewards and flexibility available from that first sailing onwards and give hundreds of opportunities for giving the guests the choice of where they want to use their points.”

The foundation of Carnival Rewards splits loyalty into two distinct currencies: Carnival Rewards Points (used to buy vacations and onboard perks) and Status Qualifying Stars (used to climb tier levels).

Every dollar spent on eligible Carnival purchases—from cruise fares and gratuities to specialty dining, spa treatments, and shore excursions—earns 3 Points and 3 Stars. In the casino, guests earn 1 Point for every unredeemed Casino Point remaining at the end of a voyage, and 1 Star for every Casino Point earned throughout the cruise.

Points post roughly 14 days after a sailing and can be redeemed immediately toward future cruise bookings, deposits, shore excursions, or converted into onboard credit.

Jonathan Lask, Carnival’s Senior Vice President of Onboard Revenue and Performance Marketing, noted that the priority is flexibility over rigid gift packages.

“Right now, our past benefit structure is a one-size-fits-all approach and people may be getting benefits that they don’t really value,” Lask explained. “With this new program… they’ll have points and they’ll able to redeem them [a variety of different ways. For example,] on a bar package if that’s what they care about, or a free shore excursion, or they could use it to pay down their cruise fare.”

Cruisers can also mix points and cash on any booking and get the same value per point as a full transaction. “If you look at all the programs… in the rest of travel, you often have to amass tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of points to really get a valuable redemption,” Lask added. “Here, even if you only have one point you could redeem that… and just pay the balance of cash.”

What Are the Points Actually Worth?

While Carnival hasn’t published a static, fixed-rate conversion chart—preferring dynamic redemption pricing based on product demand and seasonality—the system is designed around transparency before you check out. When applying points online or in the onboard Hub app, the system automatically calculates the remaining cash needed to cover the rest of your purchase.

The new program kicks off with a limited-time 50,000-point welcome bonus on the no-annual-fee card, which could be worth around $500 toward cruise expenses. That could cover a short getaway in an interior stateroom, pay off a family’s port fees and gratuities, or fund specialty dining and drink packages across a weeklong cruise.

The biggest distinction for cruisers to keep in mind is the division between cash value and tier status: points offset your bill, while Stars determine your standing.

Status Tiers, Windows, and What Happens to VIFP Perks

Status is determined by Status Qualifying Stars across a rolling two-year qualifying window, with earned benefits locked in for the remainder of that period plus the following two-year cycle. To give travelers time to adjust, the inaugural qualifying window runs from September 1, 2026, through December 31, 2028.

• Red: Automatic upon enrollment.
• Gold: 10,000 Stars.
• Platinum: 50,000 Stars.
• Diamond: 100,000 Stars.

For longtime cruisers wondering what happens to their historical loyalty standing, existing VIFP tiers will carry over through December 31, 2028. Anyone who achieved Diamond status under VIFP by August 31, 2026, is grandfathered in as a Diamond member for life, while former Platinum members receive an automatic 10,000-Star boost in each qualifying window.

While the new structure means casual cruisers will need consistent engagement or credit card spend to maintain tiers long-term, the Milestone Recognition Program ensures sailing longevity is still honored—awarding 5,000 bonus points at 50 days, 10,000 points plus onboard credit and commemorative coins every 100 days up to 500, and elevated captain honors thereafter.

Glee star Naya Rivera‘s little boy is following in his mama’s footsteps.

Josey Hollis Dorsey has landed his first on-screen acting role in an upcoming movie called The Burning Valley, which will be set in the deindustrialization period, E! News reports. His dad, Rivera’s ex-husband Ryan Dorsey, will also appear in the film.

Dorsey tells E! News he’s a “very proud dad” after learning that Josey got the part of “Boy.” Dad is playing the character Sam Pope, the boy’s dad.

“It takes a lot of courage to do what he did,” Dorsey further tells People. “He worked a lot of days for his first gig, and he handled himself like a little pro. From day one to the last day, you could tell he grew so much as an artist and as a person.”

Dorsey shares that they learned within five minutes of the first call that Josey had actually booked two movie roles, so he’s on a fast track to a seasoned acting career. He’ll also appear in a film called Fairy Boy, directed by Julia Fox.

Per Dorsey’s Instagram, the child — who turns 11 later this month — has been very active in children’s theater, so this is not a far leap. The two relocated from Los Angeles in 2023 and now live in West Virginia.

She and Dorsey were married for two years, from 2016-2018, after an on-again, off-again dating period. Josey was born in September 2015.

How Did Naya Rivera Die?

Naya Rivera was just 33 years old when she succumbed to an accidental drowning incident in 2020. She’d been boating on Lake Piru in California with her son and reportedly became overtired while they were swimming.

She was able to lift Josey to safety, but couldn’t get herself back aboard the boat and drowned. A search team found the 4-year-old asleep on the boat hours after Rivera did not return the rental boat at the intended time. Her body wasn’t discovered until five days later — it’s believed to have been hidden by heavy vegetation at the bottom of the lake during initial searches.

Last year, in his first in-depth interview since Rivera’s death, Dorsey shared with People that Josey is a happy kid, despite the hardship he’s suffered.

“He wakes up happy, all energy,” he said in 2025. “I’m trying to be the best parent that I can be and raise a good little man. He gives me a reason to keep going with my life.”

Instagram celebrity spotter Jack Banana — no, not a Savannah baseball player — caught up briefly with Carey during what appeared to be a shopping splurge to ask what fans have been wanting to know from the legendary songstress.

After she was gracious enough to take a selfie with him before jumping in her ride, Banana asked the singer point blank, “Do you have any new songs coming out?” Her response was short but promising: “Soon. Next year.”
