He may have nearly three dozen No. 1 songs to his name, but even Paul McCartney doesn't see the musical genius in everything he's put out into the world.

McCartney earned 20 No. 1s with The Beatles, and went on to earn twelve others through collaborations, his follow-up band, Wings, and as a solo artist, earning him the honor of having the most No. 1s overall.

With so many top songs, it's hard to imagine anything he's touched being considered bottom of the barrel, but there is at least one work from his extensive discography that he considers to be "f--cking awful."

The British icon once opened up about his music of a lesser caliber in an interview with Q Magazine that was published back in 2015, where he named 1971's "Bip Bop," from Wings' album Wild Life, as the worst song he's ever written.

Alongside McCartney, his wife, Linda McCartney, and Moody Blues alumn Denny Laine performed in the band, with the couple cowriting the track in question.

"The lyrics are f--cking awful,” he told the publication, going on to sing the line, "Bip bop, bip bip bop, bip bop, bip bip band, dig your bottom dollar, put it in your hand."

It may sound a little simplistic, but producer Trevor Horn once told the legendary musician that it was one of his favorites. "I can’t hate it that much, can I?" McCartney quipped. "There must have been a reason I liked it in the first place.”

And at least some of his fans agree—while it's certainly not the top-streamed of the band's tracks, it's not the least, either, with the same album's "Mumbo" and "I Am Your Singer" each raking in less plays on Spotify.

We pardon the interruption, but all hail the beauty that is Lisa Hartman Black -- spiky layers and all. A singer, actress, mom, and better half to Clint Black, she’s celebrating the big 7-0 today. For decades, she’s been a familiar face on television screens and country radio, and is still busy with projects to this day. It’s entirely possible she’s found the fountain of youth and is just not sharing.

A Houston native, Hartman Black rose to fame on the classic primetime soap Knots Landing, appearing from 1982 to 1986 as Ciji, a rock singer who (spoiler alert) was killed off in Season 4, only to be brought back as another character, Cathy, after her onscreen death sparked such fan outrage. Meanwhile, she was stoking a music career that kicked off with her self-titled debut album in 1976.

In December 1990, Hartman Black met Clint Black backstage at his New Year’s Eve concert in her hometown. According toThe Boot, the two hit it off immediately and were married 10 months later on Oct. 20, 1991. What followed was — and is — a beautiful love story and one of country music's most successful husband-and-wife partnerships.

Their signature duet, “When I Say I Do,” for Clint’s D’lectrified album topped Billboard’s country chart in 1999, crossed over on the Hot 100 (where it peaked at No. 31), and earned the couple a Grammy nomination. It’s crazy now to think that Hartman Black initially resisted the idea of singing with her husband. 

“He says, ‘I want you to sing it with me,’” she recalled to Country Living. “And I went, ‘Oh, no. No.’” Clint eventually convinced her, saying, “Who else am I gonna sing this with? It's about us.’”

The duet launched a string of collaborations, including "Easy for Me to Say" (2001), "You Still Get to Me" (2016), and "Til the End of Time" (2020). Along the way, Hartman Black continued her solo music career, releasing four albums and fan favorites like “If Love Must Go.” Most recently, she and Clint executive-produced the new Lifetime movie When I Said I Do, inspired by their hit duet. The film premiered this month and is now available on demand.

What Major Holidays Are in June 2026?

June brings about Pride Month 2026, which honors the LGBTQ+ community and uplifts queer people and their struggles everywhere. While it's a celebration, it's also a time to remember the history and obstacles of the past and present, with days like the Stonewall Riots Anniversary on June 28 and Pulse Night of Remembrance on June 12.

Euphoria is officially ending after its third season, HBO has confirmed. This comes after months of speculation that this could be the last time we see Rue, Cassie, Maddie and friends. Now, it's official.

After seven years, three seasons and 26 episodes, the show's creator, writer and director Sam Levinson announced on Popcast, The New York Times’ music podcast, that the show will not return for a fourth series.  “In terms of the story that we set out to tell, which is a story about addiction and its consequences, this feels like the end to me,” he explained.

Speaking with Joe Coscarelli in an interview with the Timesbefore the latest season premiered, Levinson admits he writes “every season like it’s the last,” and hesitated when asked about a fourth season. “I don’t know,” Levinson replied. “As of right now, all I want to do is hang out with my wife and kids and read some Elmore Leonard and watch ‘Mrs. Miniver’ again.”

The news that this is it for the show won't be a surprise to anyone who follows the cast of Euphoria. Zendaya has previously stated that she believed the show would not continue after the third series. Per Variety, the Dune actress told Drew Barrymore on her chat show that she believed the show would only run for three seasons. “That closure is coming," she told Barrymore.

The HBO show followed a group of high schoolers in California. The third season time jumped to the group as adults and explored sex work, drug addiction and human trafficking. It made stars of its cast, with Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Colman Domingo and Sydney Sweeney going on to have huge careers.

The show's last episode was not the most universally loved with Page Six declaring it "tawdry, tasteless, and squandering its all-star cast with ludicrous writing."

Levinson explained to The New York Times that the show’s story is “a tragic one in the end — but it’s also the truth.”

“If you are experimenting or taking drugs today, it’s very possible it’ll kill you,” he said of the ultimate message of the show, which feature multiple character deaths.

The ride places guests at the center of a mysterious, supernatural Texas quarry. What begins as a casual, guided tour aboard a rugged mining train quickly transforms into a high-speed escape through twisting terrain as riders try to outrun a centuries-old werewolf curse.

The entire experience is fully immersive, beginning the second you step into the heavily themed queue line. Guests will wind through quirky roadside attractions like the Museum of Cryptids and the Werewolf Museum, building up the story world of Jasper Bunyan—an eccentric entrepreneur who transformed the forgotten quarry into a tourist trap. Once on board, the train propels riders through quarry walls and dense pine groves, navigating near-miss moments with towering werewolf figures, glowing eyes and shadowy movements.

Outdoor pizzaovens have officially graduated from niche backyard gadgets to one of the hottest summer cooking appliances around. This is especially useful during the summer when nobody wants to set off smoke alarms indoors. I used the broil function on my outdoor oven and this steak was perfectly medium in under six minutes.

3. Baked Brie

Baked brie is one of the easiest entertaining tricks in general, but it happens extra fast in an outdoor oven. The intense heat melts the cheese quickly and you can hit it with some hot honey once it's out.

Serve it with toasted bread or crackers and it instantly feels like the kind of appetizer people hover around at a summer party. It’s also one of those dishes that looks much more impressive than the effort required.

4. Quesadillas

Quesadillas are a main food group in my house, and I cannot believe how incredibly crispy they came out in no time. The tortillas blister and crisp up beautifully while the cheese melts quickly inside.

They’re also endlessly customizable for family dinners or entertaining because you can make everything from classic cheese quesadillas to versions stuffed with barbecue chicken, roasted vegetables or leftover steak. I especially love how quickly they cook compared to making them individually on the stovetop.

5. Desserts Like Cookies or Fruit Crisp

Desserts in an outdoor oven feel unexpectedly fun. Turns out your oven that gets to almost 900 degrees also can be set to 350 and bake everything—from giant skillet cookies and fruit crisps to mouth-watering brownie skillets—super evenly. Fresh cookies paired with some cold ice cream is going to be my go-to backyard summer dessert move.

Outdoor ovens are perfect for hot dips because they create bubbling, golden tops incredibly quickly. Buffalo chicken dip, baked spinach artichoke dip and whipped feta dips all work especially well.

This is one of my favorite entertaining uses because you can keep the cooking mess outside while still serving something warm and crowd-pleasing. Pair the dips with grilled bread or tortilla chips and you have an instant party appetizer.

7. Roasted Vegetables

Roasted vegetables develop incredible char and caramelization in outdoor ovens. Broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus all cook beautifully at high heat.

As a kid, I always dreamt of having a cat. My twin sister, on the other hand, wanted a pet dog. Sadly, despite some pretty enthusiastic campaigning, we got neither. However, as adults, we are now both proud parents of the furbabies we'd always dreamed of—me to a tuxedo cat, and she to a sweet pit bull mix. And while we remain pretty similar, it's not unfair to say that our choice of pets has revealed some pretty big differences in our personalities. To dive deeper, Parade spoke with two psychologists to ask about the traits of people who prefer cats over dogs.

“Preferring cats doesn't define someone's personality,” assuresDr. Valerie Christian, Ph.D, a psychologist at LifeStance Health. “But it can reflect certain tendencies.”

In other words, while loving felines might be 70-80% of my personality, it's not all there is. Still, there are certain traits that lend themselves to being a cat parent.

“Unlike dogs, who require more attention and care, cats provide companionship with much less maintenance,” says Dr. Roseann Capanna Hodge, Ed.D., a licensed psychologist and professional counselor. Thus, people who prefer felines over canines might tend to be more independent.

There are many reasons one might prefer kitties over pooches. Maybe they're allergic to dogs or can't commit to taking a pet on multiple walks a day. Or perhaps they're simply lifelong fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats! According to Dr. Christian, it can often come down to lifestyle.

“People with busy schedules, smaller living spaces, or a preference for calmer forms of interactions may naturally gravitate towards cats over dogs,” she tells Parade. Anecdotally, I can confirm that living in an apartment does often lend itself to becoming a cat owner over a dog owner, especially if your building has a strict pet policy.

What Does It Say About Your Personality if You Like Cats More Than Dogs?

As Dr. Christian previously mentioned, not everyone can be defined by their love of cats. That said, both Dr. Christian and Dr. Capanna-Hodge agree that it can be a sign that someone is more independent and values some breathing room.

“Cat lovers tend to value their own space and enjoy peace and quiet,” Dr. Capanna-Hodge explains. “They need environments that allow them to recharge without constant demands and value companionship that respects boundaries.”

Though cats can be soft and cuddly, they're notoriously self-sufficient. They clean themselves (no need for baths, usually), they don't need to go out for walks or bathroom breaks and they're pretty good hunters if necessary. They're also professionals when it comes to ignoring you exist, which explains why Dr. Christian says cat lovers often “appreciate autonomy in both themselves and others.”

Dr. Capanna-Hodge agrees.

“Cat lovers appreciate their personal space and solitude, valuing the peace that comes with being alone,” she notes. “Just as cats don’t need constant attention, people who prefer them are often independent and feel comfortable doing things on their own. Their confidence in navigating the world often translates into strong problem-solving skills and resilience.”

2. They're observant

“Cats are masters of observation, often silently studying their surroundings. They might seem like they are getting in those 67 naps a day, but they really are hyper aware of their environment,” says Dr. Capanna-Hodge. “People who prefer cats tend to be equally observant, noticing the subtle details that others might overlook.”

Cats can also be temperamental. They'll beg for pets one second and scratch you the next, which means owners have to be good at noticing and reading cat cues if they want to keep injuries to a minimum.

“Cats communicate in subtle ways through body language, behavior changes and routine,” explains Dr. Christian. “Cat owners often become highly attuned to small emotional or environmental shifts, which can translate into stronger observational skills in relationships and daily life.”

3. They're patient

In my experience, there's nothing a cat loves more than playing hard to get. They truly make you work to earn their love, which is why cat ownership is not for the impatient.

“Cats are selective about affection, and they teach their owners the value of patience,” Dr. Capanna-Hodge states. “Cat lovers tend to approach relationships with care and an understanding that real connections take time to develop.”

Dr. Christian agrees, saying, “People who enjoy cats may be more comfortable allowing relationships to develop gradually instead of expecting immediate closeness or reassurance.”

4. They're emotionally attuned

Caring for a cat can make you more observant, but it can also help make you more empathetic and sensitive to the emotions of the creatures around you.

“Cats can be affectionate, but their affection can be more nuanced than overt,” says Dr. Christian. “People who prefer cats may become more comfortable recognizing subtle forms of connection and emotional expression rather than relying on obvious or highly demonstrative interactions.”

5. They're low-maintenance

“Just like their pets, cat lovers often seek simplicity and efficiency in their lives,” shares Dr. Capanna-Hodge. “They value routines that are low pressure, and prefer environments that aren't cluttered with constant demands, which allows them to focus on what really matters.”

It also allows cat parents not to take it too personally when their feline friends decide to hide from them and only come out from under the couch for food.

6. They respect boundaries

It's always important to respect your pet's limits, regardless of breed or species. That said, both Dr. Christian and Dr. Capanna-Hodge agree that people who prefer cats over dogs tend to have a stronger respect for boundaries.

“People who prefer cats may value mutual respect, personal space and emotional boundaries in relationships rather than constant attention or interaction,” Dr. Christian notes.

“While cats are often seen as aloof, people who love them tend to have a very strong sense of personal boundaries,” adds Dr. Capanna-Hodge. “They understand the importance of giving others space, whether it's their cat or people in their lives.”

7. They're creative

“Cats' quirky behavior (think chasing a red dot) and independent nature appeal to those with a creative mindset,” explains Dr. Capanna-Hodge. “Cat lovers often appreciate the unexpected and find inspiration in the unique and playful qualities that cats embody, sparking their own imagination.”

2 Common Misconceptions About People Who Prefer Cats Over Dogs1. They're “crazy cat ladies”

The belief that people who prefer cats over dogs are all “crazy cat ladies” isn't just insulting, it's demonstrably untrue. Cat owners are not a monolith, and they certainly don't all identify as women.

On a deeper level, says Dr. Capanna-Hodge, “this stereotype assumes that cat lovers are lonely or obsessed with their pets. In reality, many cat lovers simply appreciate the affection and warmth that cats bring.”

2. They prefer cats over people

Dr. Christian points out that sometimes people who prefer cats can be stereotyped as “antisocial,” but this is far from the truth.

“In reality, many cat lovers simply prefer calmer, less overstimulating interactions and relationships,” she explains.

Dr. Capanna-Hodge agrees.

“Cat lovers may be more selective about the relationships they nurture, but they also love to connect with people too,” she states.

In 1972, Carly Simon had a hit with the song “Anticipation.” Known for its acoustic guitar intro and lyrics about embracing the present moment, the lead single from the album of the same name peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in Feb. 1972. "Anticipation" remains one of Simon’s most beloved songs nearly 55 years later.

Simon penned "Anticipation" spontaneously as she fought off nervous energy while waiting for a date with music legend Cat Stevens.

Speaking with the Grammy Foundation, Simon recalled, “I invited Cat Stevens over for dinner at my house…. And so I was waiting for him to show up at my little apartment on 35th Street, and I was very nervous. He was late, and I was very nervous and I thought, ‘Oh my God, this is really too scary that he’s coming for dinner, what’s gonna happen?’ ...And so I picked up my guitar and said, ‘Okay I’m just gonna keep on writing a song until he arrives.' So I picked up the guitar, and I imitated him. I started doing Cat Stevens lunges, you know, into the air with my notes.”

“The whole song was done so immediately because I was afraid of losing the song before he came because I liked it,” she shared. “I liked it from the first verse on. And so I finished it by the time he arrived.”

According to Songfacts, “Anticipation” was written in early June 1971, just before Simon opened for Stevens at Carnegie Hall.

In the book Anthems We Love, she explained that she was “anticipating his arrival” for their dinner date a few days before the show, but Stevens was late. "So I just started the song, and I wrote the whole song, words and music, before he got there that night,” she shared. “So in about 15 minutes, I wrote the whole song. Three verses, the choruses, and the outro. That's only one of three times that that's ever happened to me. That I just sat down and wrote the whole song in just one stretch.”

Simon told NPR she was in a “very nervous state” when she penned the song. “I was so nervous about his arriving at the door that I wasn't living in the moment," she explained. “And so, I wrote the song called 'Anticipation,' which is about the fact that anticipation makes you late, it keeps you waiting.”

Not only was “Anticipation” a radio hit, but it found new life in an ad campaign. Simon, who married singer James Taylor in 1972 and had their first child, Sally, in January 1974, licensed her song to Heinz Ketchup for a series of commercials.

Simon once explained, “I thought I would never record again due to the demanding and precious little sweet Sally I was taking care of (in the jolliest possible way), and so I was talked into selling my song 'Anticipation' to Heinz Ketchup for a commercial. I wasn't at all displeased with the results. It was well done and funny.”

Heinz showcased the brand’s slow pour from the bottle with the tagline “The taste that’s worth the wait” in a series of commercials featuring Simon’s hit. The ads featuring “Anticipation” aired throughout the late 1970s.

Long before the Beatles took over America and before Ricky Nelson became a household name, Pat Boone was already one of the biggest teen idols in the country.

The legendary singer, actor and television personality turns 92 years old on June 1. During the 1950s and early 1960s, Boone became one of the defining stars of the era, selling millions of records and scoring hits with songs like “Ain’t That a Shame,” “Love Letters in the Sand,” “April Love,” “Don’t Forbid Me” and “Moody River.”

Billboard noted in 2024 that Boone has remained a presence on the charts and in pop culture since making his Billboard debut in April 1955. Rock historian Joel Whitburn once called him “the second most popular artist of the first five years of the rock era,” while Billboard ranked Boone among the top charting artists between 1955 and 1995. He also spent an astonishing 220 consecutive weeks on the Billboard charts with at least one song.

At the height of his fame, Boone even rivaled Elvis Presley in popularity, and the two stars crossed paths during the earliest days of rock and roll, years before either singer fully became a cultural phenomenon.

In a 2019 interview with The Plain Dealer, Boone recalled performing alongside Elvis at a 1955 concert at Brooklyn High School in Cleveland, years before Presley became “The King.” Boone remembered Elvis seeming “kind of shy and nervous” backstage before taking the stage in a red sports coat.

“He looked like the bad guy you’re not supposed to associate with at school,” Boone recalled. “The girls would be fascinated with him.”

Boone said the two later became neighbors and friends while both were making movies in California.

Though rock and roll changed dramatically in the decades that followed, Boone never really disappeared. He continued recording music, acting in films and television shows, hosting radio programs and performing live well into his 90s.

In 2025, Boone even set a Billboard record for the longest span between entries on the Adult Contemporary chart when his song “One - Voices for Tanzania” charted more than 63 years after his first appearance.

Boone was married to his wife, Shirley, for more than 65 years before her death in 2019. Together, they raised four daughters, including singer Debby Boone, whose smash hit “You Light Up My Life” became one of the biggest songs of the 1970s. In fact, Pat and Debby are one of only two father-daughter teams who each had No. 1 singles (the other one being Frank Sinatra and his daughter Nancy Sinatra).

More than seven decades after his first hits, Boone remains one of the last living links to rock’s earliest days—a polished pop star who helped define an entire era of American music.

It's crazy when you think about it—the very illness that nearly took Ringo's life handed him the gift that would define it—which is exactly why this quote resonates so deeply with the "Yellow Submarine" singer.

The pattern he found in that hospital room never left him. He'd weather plenty more downs—including losing his bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison and battling an addiction (he's been sober since 1988).
