While the world knew Princess Diana as royalty, those inside the palace saw a much more relaxed and playful side of her.

Behind the formality of palace life, Diana often showed a warmth and ease that surprised even those closest to her. Her former butler says it was in these quiet, everyday moments that the Princess of Wales' true personality really came through.

Marie Claire shared an excerpt from Paul Burrell’s book A Royal Duty, highlighting the relatable moments when Diana came across at her most authentic and unguarded. Her former butler discussed the moments that offered a rare glimpse into her life away from the public eye, where she often found comfort in simple, everyday interactions.

"As part of her daily routine, the princess said that her one true extravagance was having her hair washed and blow-dried every weekday morning, first by hairdresser Richard Dalton and then by Sam McKnight, and both men became trusted confidants," Burrell explained.

Burrell continued, "All women gossip to their hairdresser, and the princess was no different. There were many light-hearted moments between the princess, the hairdresser, and butler, and she always spoke louder so her voice could be heard over the hairdryer."

As Diana's shadow, Burrell witnessed many of the interactions the paparazzi never saw. He recalled the princesses' quick wit and easy charm.

He recalled one particularly funny moment when she pointed out something in a local newspaper to him. "When she saw my reflection behind her in the oval mirror on the dressing table, she would shout, 'LOOK AT THIS!' It might be kind correspondence—or otherwise—a magazine photograph or a comment by a newspaper columnist."

He concluded, "Nobody but dresser, butler, hairdresser, and housemaid was ever invited into this inner sanctum. At these times, she was at her most natural, most relaxed, most easygoing: the princess the world never got to see."

Burrell told Good Morning Britain that Diana was a "unique, inspirational human being. And I was her friend."

Paul Burrell served as Princess Diana's personal butler for 10 years, from 1987 until she died in 1997.

Not many people have the experience of living out of one singular suitcase for an entire year–luckily (or unluckily?) I do. I traveled on a national and international tour with the Broadway showA Chorus Line, and we were strictly limited on what we could bring. Now when I travel for leisure, I don’t even feel the need to fill my suitcase with anything that isn’t going to be absolutely practical for my trip.

I take it a step further, however, and I now pack with only a carry-on. If I can do a year out of one suitcase, any trip that is under 14 days doesn’t need luggage that large! I love having just a carry-on–it saves me time in the airport, it saves me money, and it helps me feel more organized and put together.

Choosing which shoes to bring with you on a trip is one of the most important packing decisions that you can make. I’m going to dive in to the criteria that I use when choosing pairs of shoes, and walk you through how to make the smartest shoe decision for your next trip.

Only Choose Pairs Of Shoes That You Can Actually Walk Two Miles In

The most important test for the shoes that you’ll bring on a trip is this: can you comfortably walk two miles in them? If you can, great! They are a contender. This is especially important if you are visiting any large city where you’ll be spending hours on end on your feet. Do you really want to be taking in the Statue of David if your feet are blistering and sore? Would your bucket-list dinner with an unobstructed view of the Acropolis really be worth it if you were in intense pain from walking all day? Nope. I didn’t think so.

When most people think of comfortable shoes to walk in, they immediately think of sneakers. I always recommend that people bring one pair of sneakers on a trip (and more importantly, wear them while you travel so you don’t have to stick them in your carry-on). Choose a pair that has enough arch support but still looks stylish.

Other shoes that I’ve found comfortable versions of are ballet flats and sandals. For ballet flats, you’re going to want to look for brands that offer a thicker sole that is padded, especially around the arch. Make sure to break them in before your big trip to avoid any blisters. I love brands like Vivaia and Sketchers for supportive ballet flats. As for sandals, I have three brands that have never let me down: Crocs, Birkenstock and Teva. All three offer very different styles, but are comfortable enough to walk long distances in and visit the beach in. A win, win.

Make Sure Each Pair Of Shoes Can Be Worn With Most Of Your Clothing

Besides having to walk comfortably in your chosen pairs of choose for 2 miles, they must also fit another criteria: match (almost) all of the clothing that you packed. There’s a way to keep this incredibly simple. Only buy shoes with neutral colors, that way, they can always be mixed and matched with your wardrobe.

The ultimate wardrobe chameleon: These chic ballet flats easily passed the two-mile test and transition perfectly from day tours to dressy dinners.

My favorite pair of sneakers to bring on trips is a classic white pair. They are sleek and chic, and can go with almost anything. My favorite sandals are a nude pair from Crocs and they also look great with evening-wear as well. Lastly, for flats, I have a few neutral-colored pairs that I switch between. For the warmer months, I have a pair of white canvas ballet flats with small pink detailing that adds a little pop. Even with the pink, they still look great with any color. For other months, I have brown, dark green and nude options as well.

To sum it up: pick a pair of shoes that you could comfortably walk two miles in and also matches your wardrobe. If you achieve that, they won’t be a useless pair of shoes that ends up taking up precious room in your carry-on.

Hello, summer vacation! After ten months of alarm clock wake-ups, daily homework folder checks, and so much more, we are free! Twenty-nine years ago today, Fiona Apple came out with what is known as her greatest hit — and it was written in just 45 minutes.

"Criminal" which was officially released on June 2, 1997, was perhaps born out of necessity. According to a 2012 Vulture profile with the singer, she was a teen when she was signed to Sony Records, and the label was looking for a "more obvious" single before releasing her record 'Tidal' — and then "Criminal" was made in under an hour.

It's worth noting that the album itself was released in 1996, with songs like "Shadowboxer" and "Sleep to Dream" having been released before "Criminal" made it to the radio waves a year later.

The song, which was about “feeling bad for getting something so easily by using your sexuality,” per Rolling Stone, notoriously starts with the widely-recognized lyrics, "I've been a bad, bad girl."

"Criminal" went on to become her only Billboard Hot 100 entry, peaking at No. 21, while "Sleep to Dream" earned her Best New Artist in a Video at the 1997 Video Music Awards. "Criminal" itself took home the Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in 1998.

In her VMA acceptance speech, Apple made a blunt statement about the music industry. "This world is bulls--t," she said, per Vulture. "You shouldn't model your life on what we think is cool, and what we're wearing and what we're saying."

However it was the music video that really boosted its popularity, and also received backlash. Apple was a teen, and was not only singing a provocative song, but the video was also provocative in its content. The video showed Apple looking moody and, as Vulture described it, "rolling disconsolately around a seventies-era basement amid some indistinguishable male bodies during an apparent all-night, drunken sleepover."

While Apple, now 48, continued to make music throughout the 2000s, her work in the 90s still remains relevant as it scored her a spot on the New York Times' list of 30 Greatest American Living Songwriters.

The Tears for Fears song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is back on the charts—41 years after it first hit No. 1.

The pop-rock classic landed at No. 23 on Billboard’s Rock Streaming Songs chart for the week ending June 6, 2026. The song’s re-entry onto Billboard's chart comes the same week that the song hit No. 1 in 1985. “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” originally hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 8, 1985.

Written by Roland Orzabal, Ian Stanley and Chris Hughes, the song was a last-minute addition to the English pop-rock band’s album Songs From the Big Chair.

In an interview with Pitchfork, Hughes revealed that "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" was written and recorded in a week after Orzabal played two simple chords on his acoustic guitar while in the studio.

“'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' was so simple and went down so quickly, it was effortless, really. In fact, as a piece of recording history, it's bland as hell,” Hughes once told Mix magazine, per Songfacts.

Orzabal also talked about the origins of the song, telling Classic Pop magazine it  was originally titled “Everybody Wants To Go To War.”

“Which I knew didn’t work,” he admitted. “When you’re a songwriter who doesn’t like the lyric, the song dies. It was our producer Chris Hughes who championed 'Everybody'… That’s where I came up with the guitar figure and changing it to ‘…Rule the world’, which is when I thought, “Yeah, that’s good.”

The song’s theme of power and greed during the Cold War was serious business. “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” became Tears for Fears’ career-defining anthem as well as an anthem for the state of the world.

Band member Curt Smith told  Yahoo! Entertainment that the song still resonated politically decades later.

“I think a lot of these songs, now that I’ve listened back to them, are kind of just as poignant as they were then, but just towards different people, different areas of the world,” he said in 2017. “Back when we were doing Songs From the Big Chair and ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World,’ we were really discussing the Cold War. But it was the U.S. and Russia then, and now the concern is more the U.S. and Korea. I find that fascinating.”

Few yacht rock tracks made a bigger splash than this chart-topping favorite that became an '80s staple.

Christopher Cross was one of the biggest stars of the early 1980s, scoring a string of hits with songs like "Sailing," "Ride Like the Wind," and "Never Be the Same." He followed that success with the Oscar-winning "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" in 1981, cementing his status as one of the decade's most popular singer-songwriters.

By the time 1983 rolled around, it appeared everything Cross touched turned to gold. With his two-word hit "All Right," Cross embraced optimism.

At its core, the song is a feel-good anthem about keeping faith when life feels uncertain. Wrapped in Cross's signature smooth sound, the song captures the essence that even when things don't go according to plan, brighter days may be just around the corner.

"All Right" struck a chord with listeners. The track's easygoing vibe helped make it one of Cross's most enduring hits, catapulting it to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Featured on the LP Another Page, "All Right" had a who's who of musical contributors. These included Toto members Steve Lukather (guitar), Jeff Porcaro (drums), and Mike Porcaro (bass). Per Discogs, additional vocalists included Michael McDonald, Don Henley, Art Garfunkel, Carl Wilson, J.D. Souther, and Karla Bonoff.

The LP was created from the intense feelings of a new relationship, Cross told PopDose. "My first marriage ended, and I met this wonderful girl named Paige and kind of fell in love with her, and I ended up making this album called Another Page, and it’s dedicated to her."

He continued, "The album was so ballad-heavy, and Paige actually said, 'Look, all these songs are really romantic. Why don’t you just do something upbeat about us?' And so then I did 'All Right,' and that was the last song I did for the album."

"All Right" became so popular that CBS Sports famously used the track for its 1983 NCAA basketball tournament highlight reel. The exposure introduced the tune to an even wider audience, helping cement its place as one of the era's most recognizable hits.

Fans will have plenty of chances to catch Christopher Cross live, as the singer-songwriter is scheduled to perform throughout the summer of 2026.

Queer Eyestar Antoni Porowski deftly sidestepped a question about whether he'll be scoring an invite to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's highly anticipated wedding—but he had no problem dishing on his favorite meal the pop superstar has ever made for him.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Porowski revealed that Swift once cooked him an Ottolenghi-inspired meatball dish that left a lasting impression.

"It was an Ottolenghi recipe for meatballs that was really delicious, and she inspired me to start putting more herbs in and making kind of green meatballs," he shared.

Porowski's carefully worded response didn't go unnoticed. Seizing on the fact that he never actually answered the wedding question, Cohen jokingly told the audience, "And because he didn't answer your question, that means he is going!"

Porowski first entered Swift's orbit when he auditioned for her "Blank Space" music video. While he didn't get the part—and never met the singer at the time—the pair later bonded at a pre-Oscars event through mutual friends. Their friendship ultimately led to Porowski appearing in Swift's star-studded 2019 "You Need to Calm Down" music video.

Upon learning about Swift and Kelce's engagement, Porowski said he couldn't be happier that she found true love. "I'm very supportive. She's an incredible, formidable woman who's managing to tour the world over," he told People. "My hopes for them as a couple are that they just that they continue to be really happy and to enjoy this moment and all the future moments to come."

After proposing to Swift in a rose-covered garden in August—a romantic moment the couple later shared on Instagram—Kelce offered a rare glimpse into their wedding plans. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in September, the NFL star revealed that he and Swift are leaning toward live music for their July 3 New York City nuptials.

“Yeah, I think we're live-music kind of people, you know?” he said.

As anticipation builds around the wedding, speculation over the guest list has intensified, with rumors suggesting that Miles Teller, Keleigh Sperry, Ryan Reynolds, and Blake Livelymay not be in attendance.

Melissa Etheridge has revealed how it felt sharing candid music before coming out as a lesbian.

During the Monday, June 1 episode of P&G and iHeartRadio's Elton John Impact Awards podcast, the rocker admitted it felt "uncomfortable" to be so personal in her music yet not share her sexuality. The 65-year-old came out as a lesbian in 1993 at Clinton's inauguration.

"I started thinking, gosh, you know, it's getting a little uncomfortable because my music was so personal," she said. "It was very interrelational music — songs about, you know, passion and desire and heartbreak, and, and so the questions that interviewers would give me were more detailed," she said per People.

Etheridge added, "And I was always very, very careful to just say 'they,' 'them,' 'you' [when referring to a partner], and even my music was very genderless."

There was an infamous 1992 Music Express interview where a journalist referred to Melissa's partner as her "boyfriend." She said that the interaction had a long-term impact on her life and career, as she was worried the lesbian community would think she was responsible for the change. Melissa's sexuality was an open secret for many years, with many of her fanbase becoming aware she was gay before she came out.

"Underground, people knew I was a lesbian, and it just horrified me. I said, 'People are gonna think I'm lying and I'm trying to cover up. And it just, it horrified me. So I was like, 'No, no, no. I need to come out,'" Etheridge explained on the podcast.

Melissa's multiplatinum 1993 album, Yes I Am, acted as the companion piece to her coming out story. She wanted to announce her sexuality to coincide with the record's September release, but ultimately expedited her announcement to January after working on the victorious Bill Clinton-Al Gore campaign.

"It was the first time that gay organizations had come together, formed political PACs and raised money," Etheridge, now 65, told iHeartRadio host Elvis Duran. "And it was the first time a presidential candidate had actually talked about being gay, not about him, but had said the words 'gay' and 'lesbian.' I had never heard the words 'gay' and 'lesbian' on television, you know? It was the first time and it was very exciting."

Melissa's coming out thankfully didn't have a negative impact on her record sells either, in fact the headlines may have helped her career. "I went from selling about a million copies a record to selling seven million of Yes I Am in one year," she explained, per Entertainment Weekly.

"I tell people, 'No, it didn't hurt me,' but I believe that the extra press I got from being gay, all of a sudden, I was more of a headline story… It made me more interesting. They wanted to talk to me. All of a sudden there was different television shows that wanted to talk about it. It became a good thing."

When it comes to traveling, my teenage daughter is always up for a good time. While my husband and 12-year-old son are also compatible travel partners, my daughter's interests typically better align with mine. However, that’s not always the case. 

Let’s face it, I’m a Gen Xer who grew up listening to Britney Spears while my daughter is obsessed with Billie Eilish. We come from two different generations, which means everything won’t always mesh. Thankfully, during a recent trip to London’s West End, we settled on an itinerary that blended the best of our two distinct worlds. 

Here’s what we did to make our first across-the-pond trip exciting and memorable.

My daughter and I always prefer to stay in central locations where restaurants, shopping and fun attractions abound. The The BoTree London delivered across the board. The 199-room (including 30 suites) hotel is located right where popular neighborhoods Marylebone, Mayfair and Soho intersect. Plus, its proximity to public transportation (the Underground) was a bonus.

The hotel, a Curio Collection by Hilton property, was sophisticated, but not stuffy. Less than three years old, the hotel’s design is ultra-modern with amenities that my daughter and I equally appreciated. From the abstract floral wall panels to the gold accents to the super chic, colorful toiletry bags, the property is a vibrant feast for the eyes. Plus, it was roomy and comfortable for lounging in between our off-property adventures. 

12 p.m. Shop on Oxford Street 

If there’s one thing that my daughter and I enjoy doing together it’s shopping. Whether we’re scouring the racks at our favorite local thrift store or browsing the aisles of designer retail shops, we never pass up an opportunity to score fashionable finds to add to our growing closets. So, during our London stay, we were delighted to be surrounded by countless stores to satisfy our sartorial desires. We stopped in Clarks, Primark and of course, Selfridges, one of London’s most popular, upscale department stores.

As a Gen X mom who remembers wearing the quintessential ‘90s attire like cropped baby tees, baggy jeans and layered necklaces, it’s fun to watch my daughter reach for the clothing that defined my youth.

London’s West End neighborhood teems with more than a mile’s length of stores to suit all shoppers’ retail therapy needs.

After a long day, we were happy to have dinner at Lavo, an Italian restaurant located on the ground floor of our hotel. Since both of our palates are drawn to flavorful Italian-inspired cuisine, it was a sensible and convenient choice. I ordered a delicious lobster pasta dish that I'm still dreaming about. The linguine was cooked perfectly al dente with loads of the meaty shellfish tossed in a mouthwatering tomato-based sauce. My daughter, who typically orders pizza, surprisingly opted for a skirt steak and a side of crispy, shoestring fries. Both of our meals were tasty and filling. Plus, the upscale decor and alluring ambiance added to our pleasant dining experience.

Waking up without the worry of where to get the most important meal of the day is an underrated luxury. Thankfully, Lavo offers complimentary, buffet-style breakfast for BoTree London guests. My daughter and I indulged in the lavish spread that included fresh fruit, deli meats, an assortment of cheeses, and made-to-order omelets. Of course, the hearty traditional English breakfast components: baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, scrambled eggs and bacon were also served. 

12 p.m. Play darts at Games Hall 

When it comes to games, my daughter and I are super competitive. No matter if we’re playing card games or miniature golf, we come to play (and win). During our trip, we were able to partake in a bit of friendly competition at Games Halls by Market Halls on Oxford Street. At this location, guests can choose from a variety of games including, darts, shuffle, pool and arcade games. It’s a great spot for families of all ages to have fun, but especially tweens and teens. 

1 p.m. Lunch at Market Halls 

In addition to being a hub for families to gather for good, old-fashioned fun, Market Halls also doubles as a food hall. After an hour-long round of darts, we made our way downstairs to find nearly a dozen fast-casual eateries offering a variety of cuisines. From Thai curry to pork tacos, the food hall has a variety of food options. The space also serves as a perfect solution for families traveling with picky teens who might have different cravings but still want to enjoy a meal together.

3 p.m. Stroll by iconic landmarks and attractions  

Have you really been to London if you haven’t seen Big Ben or other can’t-miss tourist attractions? Well, we wanted to make sure we came and conquered the must-see sights, and we did. We saw the iconic clock tower, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace. We also made a beeline to one of many red photobooths dotting sidewalks throughout the city where we had an impromptu, mini photoshoot.  

6 p.m. Dinner at Aqua Kyoto 

We also dined at Aqua Kyoto, an Asian restaurant that serves traditional Japanese fare like sushi, rock shrimp tempura and miso-glazed salmon. I ordered the latter, and my taste buds were pleased with the texture and flavor. My daughter had teriyaki chicken and fluffy, steamed jasmine rice. We both had lemonade, a simple yet refreshing complement to our dishes.

Since I was a kid, I’ve always enjoyed theater. While living in New York City means that Broadway is practically in my backyard, I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to catch a live theatrical performance in the legendary West End. 

My daughter is also a Broadway buff and was excited to see what London’s theater district had to offer. Since we’d never seen the Lion King on Broadway, we decided to check it out in London. The musical magically transported us to a fictional land in East Africa where talking animals were the norm and the unbreakable bond between father and son was on full display. The performance was mesmerizing, and the set and costumes were breathtaking. As a Gen Xer, I remember seeing the animated movie in theaters in the '90s when I was 14 years old. Watching it again on stage brought back so many great memories.

Unlike Broadway shows, guests are not given complimentary playbills at London theaters, which was surprising and honestly, a bit disappointing. However, tickets are cheaper in the West End than on Broadway.

Several people have told me about Dishoom and for good reason. The Indian restaurant specializes in Bombay-style breakfast dishes like bacon naan roll and ​​spicy chicken keema. While those traditional Indian items sounded delightful, I stuck to my tried-and-true, three-egg veggie omelet and stewed tomatoes. I also ordered some of the best piping hot lemon ginger tea I’ve ever had in my entire life.  Plus, the Indian-inspired decor throughout the restaurant made me feel like I was dining in Mumbai instead of London.

2 p.m. Get our arts & culture fix at FRAMELESS 

My daughter and I love visiting museums and interactive exhibits. So, we made sure to spend an afternoon immersing ourselves into the wondrous world of FRAMELESS, the UK’s largest permanent multi-sensory experience showcasing some of the world’s most famous artworks. We wandered throughout the four galleries in awe, marveling at the moving paintings that seemed to come to life right before our eyes. It was an innovative blend of art, technology and history that felt futuristic and fresh. 

4 p.m. Sip Tea at Sanderson Hotel 

No trip to London is complete without prioritizing a stop for afternoon tea. As an avid traveler, I always find joy in trying teas in different parts of the world. So, of course it was a must to share an afternoon tea with my daughter while in London. 

Since we’re both Disney fans, we booked the Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea at Sanderson Hotel. Fanciful and charming, the afternoon tea service was an ode to the classic Alice in Wonderland tale. From crust-less cucumber and corned beef finger sandwiches to sweet three-layered cakes and flaky pastries, the menu featured whimsical dishes with an Alice in Wonderland spin.

My daughter has always collected stuffed animals. Although she’s 16, she still has an affinity for cute plushies. In fact, she still has a Jellycat branded bunny that she’s had since she was a baby. When I told her that Jellycat was founded in London, she expressed her interest in visiting the stuffed animal emporium. So, we made our way to Harrod’s, London’s premier luxury department store (where Jellycat is located), to check out the toy store known for their unique, super soft stuffies. 

9 p.m. Have pizza delivered to our hotel room 

After a busy day, we decided to skip dining out and chose to head back to our hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel’s kitchen (for pizza) was already closed for the night, so we ordered a cheese pie from what we thought was a local pizzeria and called it a night. Once we received the pizza, we quickly realized that it was meant to be heated upon delivery. Since we didn’t have a microwave, my daughter ate it as is and said it was fine. It made for a funny and memorable night.

Costco fans are a vocal bunch, from their outspoken opinions on food court offerings to their viral takes on warehouse finds. Now, a returning item in the prepared food section of the popular retailer has people talking, but they can’t seem to agree on it. 

Costco fan page costcohotfinds recently took to Instagram to share that shrimp ceviche is back at the warehouse giant with the caption, “Ohh this will be a summer staple!” In the video, the price for the shrimp ceviche can be clearly seen as selling for $11.99 a pound, with the vlogger stating in a voiceover that the container “is loaded with tail-off shrimp, bell peppers, fresh cilantro, and limes,” before sharing that it “tastes so fresh, light, and was perfect with tortilla chips.”

Though the video was very enthusiastic about the returning product, fans in the comments were not as eager to try it, writing, “Pretty sure that's just cocktail shrimp (boiled, cold) not actually ceviche.” Others shared the opinion but defended the item, stating, “correct, but it’s delicious. I was shocked because I wasn’t expecting it to taste that good. We ate it off some fresh tortilla chips.”

“As a Hispanic person who grew up eating ceviche, it was a solid attempt but there was nowhere near enough lime juice. It tasted pretty bland,” said another commenter, with another replying that “For a real ceviche the shrimp needs to be cut in small pieces.” 

The lime juice wasn’t the biggest culprit though, as one person wrote, “Lost me at bell peppers,” and another simply said, “BELL PEPPERS??!” A third chimed in to say, “It’s fine but the shrimp is gonna be a lil rubbery and I’ve never personally seen bell peppers in ceviche.” 

While ceviche recipes differ widely depending on the country of origin, the Latin American dish typically does not have bell peppers in it, and the seafood is usually not cooked, making it a dish that needs to be consumed quickly after preparation. “Absolutely love Costco and also don’t trust the freshness on this one,” said a commenter, with more writing, “Nooooo thank you I’ll make this one from my kitchen where it’s super fresh.”

In 1977, Rita Coolidge was all over the radio with “We’re All Alone.”

Written by music legend Boz Scaggs for his famous 1976 album Silk Degrees, the lush soft rock ballad about letting go of worry appeared on Coolidge’s album Anytime…Anywhere the following year.

Coolidge’s cover of “We’re All Alone” soared to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Chart in November 1977 and peaked at No. 7 on the Hot 100 that same month.

The singer once explained how the song came to her. In an interview with Country Music People, Coolidge recalled, “When I was with A&M Records, it was like a family. … One day I was in [A&M boss] Jerry Moss’s office, and he said that the Boz Scaggs album Silk Degrees was in a million homes and there was a song on it that was perfect for a woman to sing. He said, ‘It's called ‘We're All Alone’ and as he's not doing it as a single, I think you ought to record it.’"

Coolidge’s cover wasn’t the first time “We’re All Alone” was a Hot 100 hit. In August 1976, Frankie Valli’s version of the song went to No. 78 on the coveted Billboard chart.

Valli knew the song had the potential to be an even bigger hit but felt it was “overlooked”  by his record company.

“The funny thing about records during the days when we recorded, and the record business was as big as it was, to become a hit it was important that the record company do the legwork and get radio stations to play it, or try it for two weeks,” he told Grammy.com. “For example, I put the single ‘We’re All Alone’ out, and the record company didn't want to work it. I did mine with the London Symphony Orchestra. Later, Rita Coolidge came out with the same song, and it went to No. 1. Sometimes things like that happen.”

Coolidge felt that “We’re All Alone” needed a woman’s touch. Speaking with The Aquarian, she explained, “I always felt that there were songs sung by guys that needed to be sung by women. One of those songs was ‘We’re All Alone, which was written by Boz Scaggs. I gave those songs new life.”

She also reflected on the legacy of “We’re all Alone. “ A lot of people have fallen in love to that record, and a lot of couples say, 'It is our song,’” she shared with Country Music People. “Whenever I sing it, I see people snuggle up to their partners and reminisce. It continues to be sung at weddings, and I have sung it at weddings myself.”

The major structural win here is the addition of the innovative pull-down Murphy bed that seamlessly folds up into the wall to reveal a fully functional dining table during the day. This single design tweak instantly makes the compact standard rooms feel twice as large, giving families plenty of floor space to move around, unpack, and prep for the parks without tripping over extra furniture.

The new aesthetic is also expected to lean into a more polished, sophisticated balance—moving away from the slightly basic plastic cutouts of the original 2012 build and trading them for a clever mix of vibrant Disney whimsy and adult-friendly design textures. One of the Most Controversial CW Shows Ever

Just like the novel that the resident blogger is based on, The CW series quickly became a controversial watch. Part of that was due to Chuck Bass’ development, where he started out as a party boy willing to assault someone, only to end up with a potentially undeserved redemption arc.

There were also concerns about the topics of the storylines for the high schoolers. Many of them regularly drank at the hotel bar, and there were concerns about the age gaps when dating. There were heavy themes of drug abuse and partying, which raised concerns both in the case of the books and the show.

Yet, it wasn’t the controversy that led to Gossip Girl coming to an end. The lower ratings and the slowed down storylines led to the series getting a final season, allowing all storylines to wrap up, with the reveal of the titular blogger’s real identity.

In 1976, Boston released "More Than a Feeling," a song that would become one of the defining rock anthems of its era despite never reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Released as the lead single from the band's blockbuster self-titled debut album, "More Than a Feeling" entered the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1976 and eventually peaked at No. 5. While it fell short of the top spot, the song became a massive radio favorite and helped launch Boston into rock superstardom. The band's debut album would go on to become one of the best-selling albums ever released by an American rock band.

Nearly 50 years later, "More Than a Feeling" remains a fixture on classic rock playlists and has been recognized by organizations including the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which included it among the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll. The song also landed at No. 212 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Why Does 'More Than a Feeling' Still Sound So Good?

Music producer and session musician Rick Beato examined the song in an episode of his popular "What Makes This Song Great" series, where he repeatedly praised the craftsmanship behind the recording.

Beato called songwriter Tom Scholz a "real genius" and pointed to the song's intricate layers of double-tracked guitars, soaring vocals and meticulous production. The video also singled out the performance of late singer Brad Delp, whose powerful vocals remain one of the song's defining features. Beato described Delp as "superhuman" while discussing the singer's ability to hit demanding high notes without losing power or control.

According to Scholz, the song is ultimately about the way music can trigger powerful memories. The lyrics follow a narrator who hears a familiar song and is transported back to memories of a lost love named Marianne.
