Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Neighbor Reacts to ‘Scary’ Shooting

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 12:03pm

The Beverly Hills home of Rihannaand A$AP Rocky was shot at multiple times on Sunday, March 8. She was home but wasn't harmed. Her neighbors revealed they heard the shots and gave their reaction to the violent incident.

Rihanna’s Neighbor Said He Heard Probably 10 Shots View this post on Instagram

Keith England lives in the same neighborhood, according to Fox 11. The news outlet got his reaction to the situation. "It was scary. I can’t imagine being in the house hearing the bullets hit and that sort of stuff," England said.

He claimed he heard the shots. Reports claim there was nonstop firing. Officers found an assault rifle inside a white Tesla. "Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam — like probably 10 shots," he said.

"My first thought was, really? Given the neighborhood, you don’t usually expect drive-by shootings in a place like this," England later said. "But they’re everywhere now."

A Los Angeles Police Department representative told Entertainment Weekly that the shots came from a car on the 9500 block of Heather Rd. to the gate of her home around 1:20 p.m. A white Tesla was seen driving, and a LAPD air unit found it. A 35-year-old woman named Ivana Lisette Ortiz was taken into custody as a suspect, and her bail was set to $10,225,000, according to Fox 11. She was booked for attempted murder.

The Beverly Hills mansion was behind a gate and hedges before Rihanna, 38, bought it in 2021, for $13.8 million, according to Business Insider.Mariah Carey, Madonna, and Sir Paul McCartney also lived in the neighborhood at the time. The couple hasn't released a statement regarding the incident. They are parents to three sons.

‘80s Hitmaker, 64, Debuts New Look After Beating Cancer, Fans Don’t Recognize Her

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 12:03pm

In the late ’80s, Taylor Dayne was it.

Topping the charts with hits like “Tell It to My Heart” and “Love Will Lead You Back,” the singer, now 64, was at the height of her career and the peak of cool. Rocking closer-to-God permed locks and maximalist makeup that complemented her powerful vocals, she was unmistakable to spot. Everyone knew who she was.

— Old School 80s (@OldSchool80s) January 19, 2026

These days, not so much. But we don't mean that in a negative sense. Here's the story.

In July 2022, Dayne was diagnosed with colon cancer. Since then, she has been open and candid about her health journey, which included removing 10 inches of her colon. Though successful, the procedure led to an infection causing Dayne to be hospitalized for weeks.

Speaking to Parade last May in an exclusive interview, the Grammy-winning artist shared that she went to Hawaii “to die” following the cancer news.

“If I crash, then I’ll crash here [in Hawaii],” she shared at the time.

But she didn’t crash, obviously, and now, she’s making a comeback … both on the stage and with her look. Active over on social media, the singer has shared several photos and videos with fans, the snaps revealing a completely new, fresh, and youthful look that has rendered her “unrecognizable.”

In one instance, Dayne takes to her Instagram Stories to celebrate her birthday, which was Saturday, March 7. In the image, she poses in a black one-piece bodysuit while holding up the massive furry hat on she's sporting her head. She finishes her look with leopard-print thigh-high boots, soft makeup, and long, straight hair.

“Diva Happy Birthday,” is written over the pic.

In another post, shared two days ago, Dayne models the same colossal-size topper as a wind machine adds some lift to her blonde strands. She also models a fur coat with her hair down, styled in the Gen-Z approved middle part.

"Another trip around the sun. ✨ Thank you for all the love you’ve given me over the years & for your birthday messages today. I’m so grateful to keep making music, sharing these moments, and walking this journey with all of you. 💖" she shared in the caption.

With new shows on the docket and a fresh makeover in the books, Dayne looks happy, relaxed, beautiful, and, yes, totally different from her ’80s signature. But, hey, don’t we all?

Nancy Guthrie Update: Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos Named in $1 Million Lawsuit

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:56am

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing six weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and the lead investigator, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, was just named in a $1 million lawsuit.

On March 5, a Pima County jail inmate, Christopher Michael Marx, filed a lawsuit against Nanos and the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.

In the filing, Marx—who was found guilty of shoplifting in late 2024—claimed that a sheriff deputy working at the jail between two units endangered his life, per Newsweek. That's because one of the units was allegedly in quarantine after an inmate tested positive for COVID-19.

“This deputy was going back and forth working both units; our unit was on lockdown because this deputy was working both units,” he wrote.

Additionally, Marx claimed the deputy failed to disinfect before traveling between the units, and that Nanos did not ensure that his deputies protected the inmates by containing COVID-19. He called it a “threat to my safety because this put my life in jeopardy with their action, constantly.” Marx also claimed that he "could have died.”

Because of the alleged conditions, Marx claimed that Nanos and the PCSD violated Article 2 of the Arizona state Constitution, the Declaration of Rights. He is requesting that the department ensure "that they properly disinfect their bodies when the deputies are working two units at a time and one of these units is quarantined.”

Marx is also seeking “an apology from the sheriff" and $1,350,000, which he said he would donate to provide “6 months rent free, no strings attached” apartments for the unhoused.

On Feb. 1, the PCSD launched its search for Nancy, 84, after she was last seen on Jan. 31 at her Tucson home. Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron, have posted video messages to their mother’s potential captor(s) after receiving alleged ransom notes. Most recently, Savannah offered a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s return. She remains missing, as of writing.

Those with any information about Nancy’s missing case are advised to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

'80s Box Office Hit With Daryl Hannah and Tom Hanks Was Released Exactly 42 Years Ago

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:53am

On March 9, 1984, one of Daryl Hannah's biggest films was released in theaters.

Exactly 42 years ago, the '80s hit film Splash, starring Hannah and Tom Hanks, came out in theaters, and the comedy-romance flick would go on to be a massive box office success.

Directed by Ron Howard, Splash stars Hannah as a mermaid named Madison, who reunites and falls in love with Allen Bauer (Hanks), whom she saved from drowning 20 years earlier. John Candy also appears in the film Freddie Bauer, older brother to Hanks' character, while Eugene Levy plays the role of a scheming scientist Walter Kornbluth, who spends the film trying to capture Madison for research.

The film earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the 1985 Oscars, and was also a nominee for Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical at the Golden Globes that year.

In addition to earning Hannah a Saturn Award for Best Actress in 1985, Splash skyrocketed the actress to mainstream fame. She went on to star in major films like Steel Magnolias (1989) and Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2 (2003-2004.)

More of Hannah's notable work includes roles in Blade Runner (1982), Roxanne (1987), and Wall Street (1987).

Hannah was also famously involved in an on-again, off-again relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr. in the late '80s and early '90s, a topic that has recently resurged into public consciousness with the release of the new FX/Hulu series, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr.& Carolyn Bessette.

Hannah, who is portrayed by Dree Hemingway in the show, has since spoken out to condemn her representation in the Ryan Murphy series. In an essay published in the New York Times last week, Hannah wrote, "The character 'Daryl Hannah' portrayed in the series is not even a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John."

"The actions and behaviors attributed to me are untrue...It's appalling to me that I even have to defend myself against a television show. These are not creative embellishments of personality. They are assertions about conduct — and they are false."

1982 No. 1 Hit Just Ranked ‘Best Network TV Show’ of All Time

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:49am

Cheers has been ranked the best network TV show of all time. In a list published by Slashfilm in March 2026, the beloved 1980s comedy series ranked above I Love Lucy, M*A*S*H, All in the Family, and The West Wing for the top spot.  The nod was to honor old-school network shows in an era when streaming platforms dominate both the ratings and the Emmy Awards.

Slashfilm noted that Cheers, which starred Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Rhea Perlman, George Wendt, John Ratzenberger, Kelsey Grammer, Woody Harrelson, Kirstie Alley, and more, stood out due to its 11-season run and its pathway to the iconic spinoff, Frasier. The outlet also pointed out that the Boston bar-set sitcom won a whopping 28 Emmy awards during its run on NBC from 1982 to 1993.

Cheers was the No. 1 TV show during the 1990-91 TV season, and it was highly rated every other season, except for one.

When the Cheers bar’s lights were turned off for the final time on May 20, 1993, more than 42 million viewers tuned in, according to Variety.

'Cheers' was nearly canceled

Cheers had a little trouble finding its footing. During a recent appearance on the Dinner’s On Me podcast, Danson, 78, revealed that Cheers was almost canceled after its first season due to low ratings.

“Critics loved us,” Danson recalled to host Jesse Tyler Ferguson. “Everyone around us…the writers, everybody was so positive. ‘Don’t pay attention, just keep doing it’ kind of feedback, which was lovely, but we were dead last one week in the ratings. “We were like… [show creator] Jimmy [Burrows] likes to say we were 75th out of 70. There were only 70 shows.”

Danson added that the producers didn’t have to fight to save Cheers from the chopping black. “They later said, 'Oh no, no, we weren't brilliant programmers. We had nothing to replace Cheers with or we would have,'" he revealed.

'Cheers' almost scored the queen of comedy

Cheers featured several big-name guest stars during its decade-long run. Everyone from Alex Trebek to Johnny Carson made cameos on the series.  And producers came close to signing the pioneering first lady of television for a guest role. In an interview with TheHollywood Reporter, screenwriter and producer Les Charles revealed that I Love Lucy legend Lucille Ball expressed an interest in appearing on  Cheers.

“Lucille Ball had seen the show the first season and got in touch with us indirectly that she liked it and would consider coming on,” the Cheers writer shared. "We had the idea of Diane’s [Shelley long’s] mother. We met with Lucy at her house and had a long chat with her. She very wisely decided against it because she felt that Lucy fans wouldn’t want to see her as another character.”

Midwest Shore Named Among World's Best 'One-of-a-Kind' Beaches Thanks to This Quirky Feature

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:47am

When most travelers picture world-class beaches, they imagine palm trees, tropical waters, and ocean breezes. But one Midwest destination is proving that unforgettable beaches don’t have to be tropical. In fact, a beach along Lake Michigan has just earned international recognition thanks to a feature you won’t find in most coastal getaways: towering sand dunes.

According to the 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards from TripAdvisor, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in northern Michigan ranked among the world’s best “one-of-a-kind” beaches. The award highlights destinations that offer something unique beyond traditional sun-and-sand experiences. In this case, it’s the dramatic dunes that set the landscape apart.

Stretching along the eastern shoreline of Lake Michigan, the national lakeshore is famous for massive sand formations that rise roughly 450 feet above the water. These steep, golden dunes create a stunning contrast with the lake’s clear blue waves and give visitors a beach experience unlike anywhere else in the country.

Sleeping Bear Dunes offers a much more adventurous experience than most beaches. Visitors often hike up the towering dunes for panoramic views before making the exhilarating run back down toward the shoreline.

The famous Dune Climb, one of the park’s most popular attractions, challenges visitors to scale steep slopes of loose sand. It’s harder than it looks, but reaching the top rewards climbers with sweeping views of the lake and surrounding forests.

Once you make it down to the water, the reward is a pristine freshwater beach with soft sand and crystal-clear waves. Many travelers describe the shoreline as surprisingly tropical in appearance, thanks to the bright turquoise color of Lake Michigan on sunny days.

What Makes the Dunes So Unique

The dunes themselves are the real stars of the show. Over thousands of years, winds off Lake Michigan pushed sand inland, slowly building the towering formations seen today. The result is one of the largest freshwater dune systems in the world.

These dunes aren’t just beautiful, they’re also constantly shifting. Wind and weather reshape them year after year, creating an ever-changing landscape. In some places, dunes drop steeply toward the shoreline, making the trek back to the top a memorable challenge for visitors.

The surrounding park stretches for about 35 miles of shoreline, offering a mix of beaches, forests, and scenic overlooks. Trails wind through dunes and wooded areas, giving hikers plenty of opportunities to explore the area beyond the beach itself.

A Midwest Hidden Gem

TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards are based on millions of reviews from travelers worldwide. Out of roughly eight million listings on the platform, fewer than one percent receive the prestigious “Best of the Best” recognition.

That makes Sleeping Bear Dunes’ placement on the “one-of-a-kind” list even more impressive. The Michigan destination ranked alongside globally famous beaches in places like Italy, South Africa, and Brazil, which is proof that the Midwest can compete with some of the world’s most iconic coastal landscapes.

View this post on Instagram Why It Should Be on Your Travel List

For travelers looking for something different from the typical beach vacation, this northern Michigan gem offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. You can spend the morning climbing dunes, the afternoon swimming in cool freshwater, and the evening watching one of the Midwest’s legendary sunsets over Lake Michigan.

It’s a reminder that sometimes the most extraordinary beaches aren’t found on tropical islands, but right in the heart of the Midwest.

Boston Lead Singer Tommy DeCarlo Dead at 60

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:46am

Boston's lead singer Tommy DeCarlo has died at age 60 after a brief battle with brain cancer.

DeCarlo's family confirmed his passing via a Facebook post on Monday, Mar. 9.

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026," the post read. "After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end."

"During this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our family’s privacy as we grieve and support one another," the post continued.

DeCarlo joined Boston after its original lead singer, Brad Delp, died in 2007. He first caught the band’s attention by recording Boston covers and posting them on MySpace. After sending the page to the group’s management, he was contacted by founding member Tom Scholz. Since 2007, he has served as the lead or co-lead vocalist for every touring lineup of Boston.

Prior to joining Boston, DeCarlo was working at a Home Depot in Charlotte, North Carolina as a credit manager. In 2021, DeCarlo released the audiobook, "Unlikely Rockstar — The Tommy DeCarlo Story," chronicling his life up until his first performance with Boston.

Shocking Update in ‘90 Day Fiancé’ Star’s Baby Death Investigation

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:43am

A case into the death of Leida Margaretha and Eric Rosenbrook's five-week-old daughter in 2025 has been given an update after suspected evidence by authorities. The 90-Day Fiance star has been under scrutiny surrounding Alisa Eleanor Rosenbrook's death after being found unresponsive and later taken off life support.

According to TMZ, authorities now deem the child's death as being "non-accidental." Leida's attorney confirmed that an initial assessment done by the Adams County Health and Human Services Department reveals they "found a preponderance of the evidence to substantiate maltreatment of physical abuse to the infant by the mother."

The report also states that no official criminal charges have been filed against The 90-Day Fiance star, and there's currently an ongoing investigation. For now, the cause of death has not been finalized, and an autopsy is currently pending.

According to reports of the incident, authorities received a 911 call for an unresponsive infant at the couple's residence in Wisconsin. Alisa was then transported to the hospital, where she was put on life support for five days and later died on July 9, 2025.

Details of that same day reveal that Rosenbrook was arrested for domestic battery earlier that day after a supposed altercation wth Leida. The reports state that Rosenbrook slapped her after getting angry over Leida refusing to let him hold their daughter. It was also reported at the time of the incident that the two were no longer together.

TMZ also reported last year that Leida had been facing legal issues when a Wisconsin prosecutor presented 24 felony charges against her. Court documents report seven counts of bail jumping, six counts of wire fraud, 10 counts of forgery, and one count of stealing between $10,000 and $100,000 from a business.

Last year, Leida's attorney issued a public statement following her daughter's death in an effort to dispel the allegations made against her and claimed she had "never harmed her child."

The Voice of Hind Rajab Filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania Explains Why She Refused the Cinema For Peace Award in Berlin

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:42am

Filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania did not intend to deliver a quiet acceptance speech when she arrived at the Berlin event organized by the Cinema for Peace Foundation. Instead, the moment turned into a pointed confrontation with the political contradictions she felt were embedded within the ceremony itself. Her movie, The Voice of Hind Rajab, has garnered a lot of recognition during the ongoing awards season and is also nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.

During the event, Ben Hania refused the award, leaving it on stage and declaring that “peace requires justice and accountability.” The gesture quickly circulated across the film world, raising questions about whether the industry had failed morally in responding to the war in Gaza and whether her act was a carefully planned protest or a spontaneous response to the moment.

WILLA

Ben Hania, however, resists framing the situation as a blanket failure of the global film community. In an exclusive interview with Parade Magazine, Ben Hania didn't shy away from talking about why that particular accolade didn't make sense to her.

“I think that artists in general—not all of them—are outraged by what is happening in Gaza,” she said. “And we see it shifting in public opinion, because there was a genocide. People can’t stay silent, and we hear more and more voices speaking out, you know. Even in places like Berlin, we see what has been happening.”

Her frustration, she explained, was directed less at filmmakers and more at the political environment surrounding the event itself. The ceremony, hosted by the Cinema for Peace organization, felt to her like a gathering where politics overshadowed the ideals the award claimed to represent.

“Cinema for Peace, for example, I felt that room was a very, very strange room,” Ben Hania said. “The place where they organized it—the organization is called the Foundation for Peace—you had very high-profile politicians coming, you know. So it’s not only about cinema; there is politics behind cinema.”

Berlinale symbol.

During the conversation, the filmmaker acknowledged that cinema has always existed alongside politics, but she argued that the dynamics inside that room made the connection unusually explicit. “There is always politics behind cinema, but here it was real politics,” she continued. “You had a lot of officials and people who gave cover to this genocide with their power. And so I felt that I needed to talk to the power. I can’t just receive this award and be part of this hypocritical thing about peace, you know. So I needed to speak. Yeah, I needed to do this.”

Her remarks also come amid wider tensions that surfaced during the latest edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, commonly known as the Berlinale, where debates over political speech and artistic responsibility became unavoidable. Some voices within the industry suggested that filmmakers should not feel obligated to comment on global conflicts. She rejects the idea that such conversations can be separated from the environment in which the festival exists.

“I mean, I think we should think about the Berlinale—it’s a great festival,” she said. “And I know Tricia Tuttle personally; we were together as jury members at the Venice Film Festival before she became the director of the Berlinale. She’s an incredible, credible, smart moviegoer—a person who truly loves cinema.”

MOTAZ MALHEES IN THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB (PHOTO CREDIT: WILLA)

WILLA

But admiration for the festival’s leadership does not, in her view, change the broader political realities surrounding it.

“But we can’t speak about the festival as if it exists in another place, you know,” she added. “It’s in Germany. And in Germany, there is a law—it’s written in law—that they should stand with Israel, whatever Israel does, because of their history. So there is something very rotten, I could say, already in Germany that leads to censoring all Palestinian voices.”

For Ben Hania, the issue is not merely ideological disagreement but what she describes as a climate that stifles open artistic expression. Such an atmosphere, she argues, undermines the very foundations of a film festival meant to celebrate artistic freedom.

“You can’t ignore that,” Ben Hania said. “I mean, if they decide to fire Tricia, they will kill the festival. And in a way, they are already killing it, because of all those restrictions and all this fear. There is an atmosphere of censorship and fear. You can’t have a respectable film festival in an atmosphere of blackmail, fear, and the silencing of artists. And I think it was very significant what happened at the Berlinale this year,” Ben Hania said.

'80s Rockabilly Trio Announces First Tour Since Health Crisis

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:41am

After a canceled 2025 fall tour, the Stray Cats are inviting fans to “get dolled up, put the top down, and cruise” to their 2026 summer shows. The legendary rockabilly trio is back on the road, hitting new cities following Brian Setzer’s health recovery.

Setzer, along with bassist Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom, had to pause last year’s tour after the frontman revealed he was battling a serious illness.

"I'm heartbroken to share, due to serious illness, I am unable to perform and very regrettably have to cancel our Stray Cats tour," Setzer wrote at the time.

"I know this affects so many people, and I am devastated to have to deliver this news. I've been trying everything I can to go on and do these shows, but it is just not possible. I've been looking forward so much to being onstage with my band mates again and playing for all of our amazing fans, and I'm gutted."

While Setzer didn’t share all the details of his health struggles, he had previously revealed that an autoimmune disease was affecting his ability to play guitar in early 2025.

“Towards the end of the last Stray Cats tour, I noticed that my hands were cramping up," he wrote. "I've since discovered that I have an autoimmune disease. I cannot play guitar.”

Brian Setzer Returns to the Stage After Health Hiatus

After months of rest and treatment, Setzer is ready to perform live again with his bandmates.

"It's good to be healthy and strong again," the guitarist said in a press release announcing the 2026 shows. "There's something about the unique sound of the Stray Cats that keeps drawing me in. The Gretsch guitar, the acoustic bass and the stand-up drums still sound pure and fresh today. Come on out and have some fun with us this summer."

Rocker added, "The Stray Cats are back and ready to blast off! It's an amazing feeling to join up with Brian and Slim, hit the stage and rock across America. No one can do it like us Cats, ... nobody comes close."

Phantom chimed in, "With the Stray Cats, there's always some extra magic around the summertime shows. It's the perfect time for the cats and kittens to get dolled up, put the top down and cruise to the greatest rockabilly show on earth."

Late last year, the Stray Cats released two new songs, "Stampede" and "Teenage Heaven," their first original music since 2019. While the tracks were tied to the canceled fall tour, fans might get the chance to hear them live during the 2026 summer run.

How the Travel Shutdown Could Affect the World Cup

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:39am

Lately, something far bigger than a football match has dominated travel headlines: a travel shutdown caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. What began as regional conflict has rippled through international skies and could affect the beautiful game and travelers like you and I who dream of being there in person.

At the center of the story is Iraq’s head coach, Graham Arnold, who’s urging FIFA to delay his team’s World Cup qualifying playoff set for March 31 in Monterrey, Mexico. That request comes as Iraqi airspace remains closed following recent military escalation linked to the Iran conflict, leaving players, coaches, and support staff unable to travel freely.

As a traveler, this isn’t dry policy talk. This highlights how instability in one region can affect flight routes, visas, embassies, and even the very moment when dreams of World Cup stardom, or attendance, come alive.

Sign up for our newsletter and get hidden gems, travel secrets, and stories like this delivered straight to your inbox!

Travel Chaos and What Countries Are Most Affected

Throughout my journeys, I’ve learned that travel notifications often tell a story about risk, but also about resilience.

Middle East Disruptions

Countries in and around the Middle East, like Iraq, Iran, and parts of the Gulf, are experiencing flight cancellations, closed embassies, closed airspace, and restricted routes. The Iraqi national team can’t secure visas for Mexico because many embassies are shut, and the squad can’t gather in full.

If you’re planning travel, especially with layovers through the Gulf region, be aware:

  • Airspace closures can cancel or reroute flights at a moment’s notice
  • Embassy operations may be reduced or paused entirely
  • Visa processes may take longer than usual or require travel to a third country

Even airports in comparatively stable nations are feeling the effects. Some carriers have temporarily suspended flights across parts of the Middle East due to safety and logistical concerns.

Related: Monopoly’s FIFA World Cup 2026 Edition Comes With an Unexpected Twist

Long‑Haul Match Ticket Concerns

It isn’t just the teams that might be affected: fans from many countries may struggle to arrive on time if unexpected travel restrictions or delays pop up. Across the globe, travelers from certain nations are already facing challenges with visas and rules under shifting immigration regulations, meaning you might need an extra buffer for World Cup travel plans. In short, the Middle East crisis is making global travel unpredictable right now, and that affects everything from tour plans to intercontinental sports fixtures.

What Other Coaches and Officials Are Saying

While the Iraqi coach argues that fielding only foreign‑based players in the playoff would unfairly weaken his squad, FIFA has yet to make a public decision on postponing the matches. Some national team leaders across different regions have quietly supported the need for flexibility, noting that fair play relies as much on travel logistics as on tactics or form.

Other teams set to compete, including Jamaica, New Caledonia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, are scheduled to play their World Cup qualifying matches as planned. But the uncertainty still looms over Iraq’s fate and potentially beyond.

From a traveler’s perspective, these conversations underline a new reality: sporting events don’t exist in a vacuum. Wars, diplomacy, and aviation policies have real effects on fixtures, fans, and even qualification pathways.

What This Means for Travelers and Fans

I’ve learned over years on the road that the best‑laid plans often include contingency strategies. Here’s what you might consider if you’re thinking about adventuring to the World Cup:

1. Build Extra Time Into Your Itinerary

Because travel to or from certain regions may be delayed by flight reroutes or Embassy closures, give yourself a cushion of days around key matches and planning milestones.

2. Stay Updated on Safety Alerts

Government travel advisories are evolving daily. Keep apps and official government sites handy so you can check Level 3 or higher travel advisories for relevant countries, as these can shift quickly during geopolitical tension.

3. Have a Visa Backup Plan

If your itinerary requires transits through multiple countries, ensure you have the correct visas not only for your final destination but also for any potential reroutes.

4. Prepare for Match-Day Emotions and Travel Drama

If you’re going to cheer for Iraq, Bolivia, Suriname, or any other team, your travel might be as dramatic as the game itself. Expect unpredictability, and bring a flexible spirit. Travel is, after all, part exploration and part navigating the story of the world as it unfolds.

A Traveler’s Takeaway

Sitting in a café in Europe or on a flight above the Atlantic, I think about how travel and sport reflect our shared global rhythms. A closed airspace in Baghdad today can influence ticket prices in Houston tomorrow and fan chants in Mexico next week. While the 2026 World Cup remains on schedule for June 11 to July 19, these travel complexities remind us that a football fan’s journey is both literal and symbolic, a reflection of how connected our world has become.

And as we’ve learned, nothing about travel is guaranteed, especially in turbulent times. But the thrill of crossing borders, joining crowds, and being part of history makes the uncertainties worth facing.

'90s Heartthrob Tops the List of Internet's Crushes After New Drama Becomes an Instant Hit

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:34am

The internet is once again crushing on a '90s star.

Scott Speedman never left, as he's been bringing Dr. Nick Marsh to life on Grey's Anatomy since 2018, but he's been reacquainted with the spotlight in a different way following the premiere of his new ABC drama.

What Is ABC's RJ Decker?

The Felicity alum is now the leading man of RJ Decker—an American crime drama television series created by Robert Doherty and inspired by the novel Double Whammy by Carl Hiaasen—which premiered on March 3, 2026.

The series finds Speedman starring as R.J. Decker, a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con, who turns over a new leaf as a private investigator. He gets an assist in solving cases from his journalist ex, her cop wife, and a mysterious woman from his past who could become his greatest ally, "or his one-way ticket back to prison," per the synopsis.

After just one episode, what's being dubbed as the Lincoln Lawyer replacement became an instant success, particularly on streaming, debuting in the number two spot for Hulu's Top 10 TV Shows of March 6, bested only by ABC's mega-hit, High Potential.

While it will take slightly longer to see how it fared in primetime network ratings, the crime drama clearly won over critics and audiences alike, with an 83% Rotten Tomatoes score.

The Internet Is Falling for Scott Speedman All Over Again

Speedman in the titular role reignited the internet's crush on him.

"I've never been more devoted to something than I have been to crushing on this man since the late '90s," the Betches social media account posted, with many in the comments section simply acknowledging, "same."

"Scott and Joshua Jackson have been longstanding for me 😍😍," someone mentioned of Dawson Creek's Joshua Jackson, who had his moment last year with ABC's now-canceled Doctor Odyssey.

The internet began fan-girling and crushing on the '90s heartthrob almost immediately, with one writing, "Scott Speedman with this scruffy, rugged 70s aesthetic is working for me. Can't even pretend."

"i am literally so sorry mcwidow, but scottspeedman is back (as a series regular) now and i am so happy," another echoed.

— Nora Dominick (@noradominick) October 1, 2021 Speedman Was a '90s Heartthrob

Speedman first became widely known for portraying Ben Covington on The WB's Felicity from 1998 through 2022, where he was a brooding love interest for the lead, Felicity, played by Keri Russell. With a strong fan following, he was propelled into teen TV heartthrob territory.

He later gained a new wave of popularity starring as Michael Corvin in the action-horror franchise Underworld and its sequels, along with the pivotal character of Barry “Baz” Blackwell in the crime drama Animal Kingdom from 2016 through 2022.

Hollywood A-Lister Comes Between Brooke Shields and Her Calvins in Steamiest Campaign Yet

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:09am

1980 spawned one of the most famous fashion campaigns of all time.

Starring actress Brooke Shields, Calvin Klein launched a series of print and television ads promoting the brand's classic denim. Today, the vintage ads are widely considered iconic, but at the time, they ignited a fury that got them banned by some TV stations.

View this post on Instagram

Here’s why: Shields was just 15 and delivering lines like, “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.” And, per The Hollywood Reporter, “Genes are fundamental in determining the characteristics of an individual and passing on these characteristics to succeeding generations.”

In an interview with People magazine in 2023, Klein, now 83, reminisced about his “fresh” and “sexy” ’80s It girl, saying, “When we first met, she was a teenager, two years after filming Pretty Baby. We were launching jeans and wanted to say something new. Brooke was the perfect fit -- young and confident with a modern spirit.”

Since Shields’ collaboration with the brand, several Hollywood stars have carried the torch, with the ads getting even skimpier over the years.

Per WWD, models, movie stars, and musicians including Cooper Koch, Bad Bunny, Kate Moss, Jungkook, Mark Wahlberg, and Kendall Jenner have all modeled the brand’s classic denim and stripped down to their Calvin Klein-banded underwear in the name of fashion.

Today, there’s another stunner to add to the list. The latest star to come between Shields and her Calvins is Dakota Johnson. Daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, the Fifty Shades of Grey actress strips down to nearly nuthin’ in the latest CK ads.

In addition to glossy images featuring the brunette topless while sporting belted dark and light-colored washes, the brand released a video.

In the footage, which also features the song "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)," by The Hollies, Johnson plays pool in only banded black underwear and stilettos, her long dark strands covering her bubbies and torso. Later, she’s lounging pool-side in a bra, no undies, before she boogies down on a couch in baggy distressed denim, this time with no top.

“And that line, that last line, God, it’s so magic,” she says toward the end, while tracing the curvature and lines of her own figure. “Ah, I guess she’s my kind of woman. Do you have your Calvins on?”

Take a peek below, but fair warning: It's a steamy one and probably NSFW. So act accordingly.

Jessica Alba's Boyfriend Debunks Rumors the Actor is Dating an NFL Quarterback

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:07am

Jessica Alba was recently spotted with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, and it sparked a whirlwind of rumors that the two are dating. Top Gun: Maverick star Danny Ramirez sets the record straight with a social media post that quickly dispelled the rumors.

The Fantastic Four actor was photographed early Sunday morning playing blackjack with the football star in a Las Vegas casino. Many began circulating rumors that the 44-year-old and 29-year-old were romantically linked, despite Alba having made her relationship with Ramire public last year.

In an effort to quiet the rumor mill, Ramirez posted a course of photos on Instagram with the caption, "Mexico mágico." Front and center was a photo of Ramirez and Alba smiling while taking a selfie, their dining adventures in Mexico, museum visits, and plenty of photos of Alba taken by the actor. One mirror selfie even shows Alba planting a sweet kiss on the actor's cheek.

It just so happens that Albe posted her own series of photos and videos on her Instagram of the same trip. She captioned her post with, "The best week in one of my favorite cities - belly full, heart fuller," and included some of the same photos as Ramirez, who commented "Tú" with a flaming heart emoji.

According to The Daily Mail, Burrow and Alba were at the casino with their respective friend groups, and just so happened to be photographed together. A report claims the two were friendly towards each other, but with no romantic signs or PDA involved. Alba and Ramirez are still very much in a relationship.

The two actors were first spotted together in May 2025, with a source commenting that their relationship was "very new" and "having a good time together." They made their relationship official months later on Instagram with photos at the Baby2Baby Gala in West Hollywood, which they both attended in November that year.

Alba's relationship comes after she filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Cash Warren, in February 2025. They were married for 16 years and share two daughters and a son, with the divorce having been finalized a year later on Feb. 13.

Savannah Guthrie's Mom Nancy Update: Cadaver Dogs on Hold, Sheriff Says

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:06am

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing six weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and recently, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said that cadaver dogs are on hold.

Since Feb. 1, investigators have searched for the 84-year-old after she was last seen at her Catalina Foothills residence on Jan. 31. No suspects have been identified as the case entered Week 6.

In an article published on Monday, March 9, Nanos told Fox News Digital that cadaver dogs had been deployed earlier in the investigation. The canines have not been seen in recent weeks.

"They are available if needed in the future," Nanos confirmed.

In recent days, the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) confirmed it was aware of and looking into a damaged utility box near Nancy's home as a potential new piece of evidence.

Nanos also said of the case, "I think the investigators are definitely closer," during an interview that aired on Today on March 3. "“We’ve got a lot of intel, a lot of leads. But now it’s time to just go to work.”

However, he also reminded those who are following the case closely for updates, "There’s so much that everybody wants to know, right? But I would be very neglectful, irresponsible as a police law enforcement leader to share that with everybody. We have information on this case that we think is going to, hopefully, lead us to solving this case. But it takes time.”

Since Nancy's disappearance, Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron, have posted video messages to their mother’s potential captor(s) after receiving alleged ransom notes. Most recently, Savannah offered a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s return.

Those with any information about Nancy’s missing case are advised to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

‘Girls Next Door’ Star Kendra Wilkinson Is Fine With Weight Gain and Wrinkles Amid Online Aging Criticism

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:05am

Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson is living her best life, and she's not going to let the criticism of online commenters get her down.

Wilkinson, 40, rose to fame as one of Playboy tycoon Hugh Hefner‘s girlfriends on The Girls Next Door, the E! reality TV show that ran from 2005 to 2009. Along with fellow girlfriends Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, Wilkinson lived at the Playboy Mansion and allowed E! cameras to document her life. After that series concluded, she went on to other reality series, including Kendra and Kendra on Top.

These days, life couldn’t be more different from her days at the Playboy Mansion. Wilkinson married then-Philadelphia Eagles player Hank Baskett in 2009, and the couple went on to have two children: Hank, 16, and Alijah, 11. While Wilkinson filed for divorce in 2018, she’s as devoted as can be to her two children, and she’s even found a new career as a real estate agent.

Despite thriving as a single mom, Wilkinson still has to deal with criticism from online trolls. In a new post for International Women's Day, Wilkinson shared that people comment about how she's aged "poorly." However, she says she's perfectly fine with "a little weight gain and wrinkles" because she's not going to "tie my happiness again into the negative energy."

"I am a balanced, single, positive, fun woman who loves life, and I hope that I can manage this feeling forever now after working hard to get here to this place. I was verrrry young when I started TV and lived a crazy chaotic 20 years of impressing others, but now it’s about ME. Giving back to ME. Even with less money and Way less fame. 😂," Wilkinson shared. "I’m now a realtor and a mom of a 16-year-old and a 11 yr old. Watching them grow has been my ultimate happiness over everything else. I’m so beyond grateful for today!"

Who is Kendra Wilkinson's Daughter, Alijah?

Wilkinson recently took to Instagram to share a fun photo alongside Alijah, as the duo hit up Malibu for some fun mother-daughter time. From the looks of their cute selfie, it’s safe to say that Alijah is a dead ringer for her former reality star mother.

“Fun times in Malibu with my daughter. We ate at Nobu and then we randomly went fishing. Didn’t catch anything but we had a blast spending the time together… Lol 🎣 🏖️,” Wilkinson captioned the photo set.

As for Kendra’s 16-year-old son, Hank Jr., it’s safe to say he has a few inches on his mother. Recently, Wilkinson shared a photo of both her kids while attending a basketball game, and Hank Jr. towered over his mom by what looks like a foot. In the comments, she shared that he’s 6 feet 3 inches tall.

This Beloved Beverage Brand Just Launched a Line of Teas and Fans Are Saying, 'It's So Good'

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 11:05am

I'm not sure there's a more perfect drink than a tall glass of iced tea. It just hits every note. You can keep it classic with unsweetened black tea or lean Southern with a little sugar. Then there's the option to switch things up with green tea or fruity infusions. And, of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the absolutely iconic Arnold Palmer, with its half-tea, half-lemonade situation.

Somehow it works for just about any mood. It's casual enough for a random weekday pick-me-up but also feels right at home on a sunny patio with friends. Add a slice of lemon, toss in some mint, maybe muddle a little fruit, and suddenly you've got a whole vibe going that feels like springtime in a glass.

Beverage brand Spindrift, which you likely know best for its stellar line of fruit-infused sparkling waters, is entering the iced tea game, and it's hitting all of the notes. The brand already has a Half Tea & Half Lemonade sparkling water, but now it's doubling down with Spindrift Teas.

View this post on Instagram

The launch includes four flavors: lemon, blood orange, peach and raspberry. The teas are just slightly sweet, with each 12-ounce can ranging from 22 to 49 calories, depending on the flavor. And if you're worried that carbonation might ruin the whole concept, rest assured that these teas are still—no bubbles here.

Having tried each of the four flavors, I can also attest that the fruitiness isn't overwhelming. It's just the right amount of fruit juice to add a little somethin'-somethin' without overpowering the delicious tea itself. The drinks definitely earn their place in your fridge.

What People Are Saying

Over on Instagram, Spindrift fans appear pretty stoked that the brand is expanding its lineup.

"I always get nervous with a new launch, that maybe the ingredients will sneak in 'natural flavors' or 'natural raspberry flavor,' but NOPE," wrote someone in the comments. "Spindrift, you are amazing, thank you for never cutting corners!"

Others are just excited to try it.

"A dream I didn't know I had," said another person.

Right now, you can purchase the teas on Spindrift's website, as well as select stores. The brand is planning for a larger rollout to even more retail locations later this year.

Oscar-Award Winning Disney Movie Is Getting A Sequel More Than A Decade Later

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:54am

The Oscar-award winning Disney movie Cococurrently has a sequel in the works with an anticipated release date of 2029, new reports indicate.

Per Deadline, Coco 2 is one of several upcoming Disney sequels in development, including Monsters Inc. 3 and The Incredibles 3. The same reports state that Monsters Inc. 3 is still in early development, while Incredibles3 is currently slated for 2028.

Coco was an immediate smash hit when it was released in 2017, grossing more than $814 million worldwide at the box office during its original theatrical run. The movie was also hailed as a major success throughout the 2018 awards season, securing an Oscar for Animated Feature Film as well as an Oscar for Original Song for the (still) very popular song "Remember Me."

Coco also won two Critics' Choice Awards, one for Best Animated Feature and one for Best Song—also for "Remember Me"—as well as a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Animated.

The movie centered on a young boy named Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez) who had a love of music despite his family's ban on playing, which stemmed from Miguel's great-great-grandfather Héctor (Gael García Bernal) seemingly abandoning the family to pursue his music career.

What followed was an emotional exploration of family, trauma, love and heritage, wherein Miguel traveled to the Land of the Dead, encountered his great-great-grandfather and learned the painful truth about what happened to his family.

With years before Coco 2's anticipated release date, there are very few details currently available regarding what this story will entail. Presumably, Miguel will now be a little older, perhaps with a flourishing music career of his own, although that remains to be seen. What does seem certain is that this movie is perfectly positioned to be yet another Disney hit, alongside the other titles reported to be in the works.
