Nancy Guthrie Update: Body Found Near Phoenix Canal Identified by Authorities
A body found in a Phoenix canal has been identified as Alex Fleming. According to AZ Family, the 42-year-old was "unresponsive with signs of trauma" when police arrived on the scene. Fleming was discovered on Friday, March 6, near 27th Place and Grand Canal Trail.
When the story was first reported, many people wondered if the remains could have belonged to Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing from Pima County since Sunday, Feb. 1. Early on, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said they were unaware of any connection to their ongoing missing persons case.
"PCSD says it has not been advised of any law enforcement activity at the canal in Phoenix this morning being connected to the Nancy Guthrie case," Fox News Digital’s Michael Ruiz wrote on X. When asked again, the sheriff's department maintained they had no further updates.
However, with few details initially available about the discovery, speculation continued online, with many social media users wondering if authorities were staying tight-lipped until an autopsy report was completed and next of kin were notified. Indeed that seems to have been the case, despite the remains not belonging to Guthrie.
Details on Fleming's cause of death are currently unclear and authorities in Maricopa County have launched a death investigation in an effort to find out what happened.
Meanwhile, just about 120 miles south of where Fleming was found, the search for answers in the Guthrie case continue. Authorities believe that Guthrie may have been abducted from her home in the Catalina Foothills in the middle of the night.
Despite releasing some Google Nest footage of a perp on Guthrie's front stoop taken the night she disappeared, authorities haven't been able to name a suspect and no arrests have been made. Moreover, Guthrie's whereabouts are still unknown.

'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' Stars Reunite For New Movie 40 Years Later
Exactly 40 years after their momentous collaboration on the 1986 teen comedy classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck are set to reunite for an entirely new project.
Speaking with People magazine, the 69-year-old Ruck spoke about his experiences working with Broderick, both in terms of their past collab on Ferris Bueller's Day Off and their upcoming partnership in the new comedy, The Best Is Yet to Come.
“It felt like we hadn't stopped,” Ruck said of his working relationship with Broderick. “It didn't, it didn't feel like 40 years had gone by. So it was easy, you know.”
As most viewers are sure to recall, Ruck famously played the morose best friend of Broderick's titular character in Ferris Bueller, accompanying the latter and his girlfriend on a free-wheeling trip through Chicago as they all skip school together.
Pursued by their relentless principal and Ferris's vindictive sister, the trio enjoy a series of misadventures as they enjoy their day off.
Tapping into their unique on-screen chemistry, both Ruck and Broderick's comedic rapport became one of the highlights of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, providing the movie with some of its most iconic scenes and instantly recognizable quotes.
“I think we made a pact to work together every 40 years,” Ruck joked of his and Broderick's previous collaboration. “So, so far so good.”
In terms of their new on-screen project, Ruck and Broderick are set to appear in the new comedy, The Best Is Yet to Come. Written by Allan Loeb and directed by Jon Turteltaub, the movie will find the two stars playing a pair of lifelong best friends as they grapple with various misunderstandings on the road and struggle to live out their greatest ambitions in life.
As of yet, there is no formal release date set for the new film.
Your Red (and Green) Flags, Based on Your Birth Month
Having a clear understanding of what the red and green flags mean can be a lifesaver when building relationships. Knowing where and who to put our attention is pivotal, especially when we are defining relationships and partnerships. It’s easy to lean into the vibe of the month's astrology to find how we connect and align with others, as well as our triggers and needs. It is an excellent way to weed out people who don’t have our best interests at heart and bring others who exhibit amazing qualities into our lives. However, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. What we find is that a red flag may be a neutral or good character trusted by another. Read on to discover what each birth month will most likely consider a green flag in others, versus a red flag.
What are red flags? In the realm of dating and friendships, red flags serve as warning signs that reveal a person's true character. For instance, if someone behaves rudely or aggressively toward wait staff, that is a red flag. It's important to pay attention to these signs to avoid potentially problematic situations.

13 Best False Eyelashes for 2026, Tested by Celebrity Makeup Artists
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
If you've ever struggled with false eyelashes that won't stick, look obviously fake or poke your inner corner all day, you're not alone—and you're probably using the wrong false eyelashes for your eyes.
The false lash market has exploded beyond the basic drugstore strips that required scissors, steady hands and prayers to the beauty gods. Today's options include everything from press-on lashes to individual clusters, to wispy styles that look like expensive extensions and ultra-lightweight options you genuinely forget you're wearing.
Understanding those different types of false lashes changes how you shop for them.
Strip lashes give you a full lash line in one piece but require precise placement and can look obviously fake if the band is too thick or the style too dramatic. Cluster lashes and individual lashes offer more control and customization since you can place them exactly where you want more volume, making them perfect for beginners who find full strips intimidating.
Press-on lashes have revolutionized the game by eliminating the messy glue step entirely; they come with pre-applied adhesive and often include an applicator tool that makes placement foolproof. The key is matching the lash type to both your skill level and the look you're trying to achieve.
The application technique matters just as much as the lashes themselves. But we'll get into that in a bit. To help answer all your falsies questions, we consulted celebritymakeup artists who work with A-list clients on red carpets, photo shoots and music videos to find out which false lashes actually deliver natural-looking drama, stay comfortable all day and work for different eye shapes and skill levels. Here are their top picks for the 13 best false eyelashes of 2026.

The experts agree that ease of application comes down to two factors: the format and the band thickness.
For absolute beginners, press-on lashes eliminate the trickiest part of the process entirely. Nydia Figueroa, a celebrity makeup artist who works with Olivia Culpo and Miss Universe, is enthusiastic about this innovation.
"They are incredibly user-friendly since they come pre-glued and include an applicator, making application quick and stress-free,” she says. “The best part is that they offer all-day wear without the mess of traditional lash glue."
Molly R. Stern, who is a celebrity makeup artist who has worked with Chelsea Handler, Maya Rudolph, and many more, also vouches for the Lashify system as beginner-friendly because of how it's designed for application.

Yes, false eyelashes are safe when you follow proper application and removal techniques.
Stern is definitive: "YES, as long as you have a great eye makeup remover to take them off." She specifically recommends Epicuren Crystal Clear ($42.74) remover for gentle removal that doesn't tug at delicate eye skin.
Figueroa adds important caveats about product selection.
"It's important to use a glue that is made specifically for the eye area and free of harsh chemicals," she says. "Proper application and gentle removal are key to keeping your natural lashes healthy. If you have sensitive eyes, I recommend using a latex-free lash glue formula."
The takeaway? Safety comes down to using eye-safe adhesives, proper application technique and always removing lashes before bed.
How Do You Apply False Lashes? The pros all agree on one super important tip: chin up, eyelids down (memorize that). This position gives you the best angle to see your lash line and place lashes as close as possible without gluing them directly onto your natural lashes.
For strip lashes, letting the glue get tacky for about 30 seconds before application makes all the difference between lashes that slide around and ones that lock into place immediately. And contrary to what you might think, applying mascara before false lashes (not after) helps them blend seamlessly with your natural lashes and creates a base for better adhesion.
Outside of those basic tips, the experts have specific techniques that make application easier and results better. Figueroa, for instance, shares with Parade comprehensive step-by-step instructions that cover the details most people miss.
Remove any excess adhesive from the lash band that's added to keep lashes secure in packaging. Gently curl the lashes if needed—she loves the Tweezerman ProMaster Lash Curler ($26) because it fits all eye shapes without pinching. Measure the lash against your eye and trim from the outer corner for a custom fit. "Apply lash glue evenly along the band, adding a small extra dot to each end and let it dry for about 30 seconds until tacky," she says. Her go-to adhesive is DUO Brush-On Striplash Adhesive ($9.78). Place the lash as close to the lash line as possible without gluing it directly onto your natural lashes, then finish with a light coat of mascara to blend.
The key steps everyone agrees on? Let the glue get tacky, place as close to the lash line as possible and press firmly to secure.

How Long Will False Eyelashes Last?Longevity depends on the quality of the lashes and how well you care for them between wears. Stern offers the most optimistic timeline with a caveat.
"If you can sleep like Sleeping Beauty, some lashes can stay on for 4-5 days," she says. However, most experts don't recommend sleeping in false lashes at all.
Expect 3-5 wears from drugstore lashes and up to 20 from high-quality options if you clean and store them properly. Individual clusters are typically one-time use.
The 13 Best False Eyelashes for 2026, Tested by Celebrity Makeup ArtistsBest Overall: Ardell Nourish Lash, $5.99Amazon
T. Cooper of Major Face—who works with Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B.—chose this as their best overall pick for its innovative nourishing benefits.
"A beautiful lash that comes in a variety of styles. The band is infused with peptides, niacinamide and biotin, so it helps nourish your natural lashes with every wear," they explain.
This is a game-changer for anyone worried about false lashes damaging their natural lashes. Instead of just sitting on top, these actually condition and strengthen your real lashes while you wear them. The variety of styles means you can find everything from natural to dramatic within the Nourish line. The peptides promote lash health while niacinamide and biotin strengthen hair follicles.
Best for Beginners: KISS Looks So Natural Trio Lashes, $8Amazon
T. Cooper loves these for first-time lash wearers. "These trio lashes are so easy to apply. The packaging itself comes with a little built-in pocket to hold the glue, so you can just dip the lash and place it," they explain. "I've used tweezers and just my fingers and the result is always flawless. These are perfect for anyone new to lash application or anyone who finds applying lashes to be difficult."
The built-in glue holder is genius—no fumbling with separate glue tubes or getting adhesive everywhere. The trio format (three small clusters per eye) is much more forgiving than full strips. If you mess up one cluster, you haven't ruined the whole look.
Best Value: Cherry Blossom 3D Eyelashes, $14Amazon
T. Cooper specifically chose these for budget-conscious lash lovers. "These affordable lashes often go on sale for about a dollar per pair, a fantastic choice for those days you have to ball on a budget," they note. Getting quality 3D lashes for around a dollar is nearly impossible to beat.
The layered design creates dimension and volume that rivals much more expensive options. At this price point, you can stock up on multiple styles and not feel guilty about using fresh lashes frequently rather than trying to clean and reuse them multiple times.
Best Cluster Lashes: Ardell Naked Clusters, $12Amazon
T. Cooper loves the customization these offer. "I love these because they are so customizable. In each package, you have five lengths to create any look you like, from natural to high glam," they explain.
This versatility is exactly why cluster lashes are so popular with makeup artists. You can place longer clusters at the outer corners for a winged effect, use medium lengths in the middle for volume or dot short clusters throughout for subtle enhancement. The "Naked" line has an invisible band that truly disappears into your lash line.
Best Wispy Lashes: Ardell Pre-Mapped Lash Extensions (Wispy), $17Amazon
T. Cooper chose this innovative format for wispy lash lovers. "The pre-mapped extensions come already cut into sections for easy application and long wear. These wispy lashes give a flirty, feathery look to the eyes," they explain.
The pre-mapped sections take the guesswork out of where to place each cluster for the most flattering effect. The wispy style creates that romantic, fluttery look that's incredibly popular right now. The sections are specifically designed to mimic the natural graduation of lash length from the inner to outer corner.
Best Drama: Rav Bagry Studio Vegas Lashes, $5Rav Bagry
T. Cooper uses these for clients who want serious impact. "I use these all the time when my client wants statement eyes. These dramatic, long and fluffy lashes bring bold glam and intensity for a show-stopping look," they explain.
The Vegas name is fitting—these are the kind of lashes you see on performers, drag queens and anyone who needs their eyes to be visible from the back row. They're long, voluminous and unapologetically dramatic. Perfect for stage performances, costume parties, music videos or nights when you want to be absolutely unforgettable.

Amazon
T. Cooper calls this their personal favorite. "They are perfect for a subtle enhancement. They give a hint of natural-looking length and volume while feeling incredibly light," they share.
The 420 style in the Naked line is beloved for looking like your natural lashes but better—slightly longer, slightly fuller, but not obviously false. You can wear these to work, to brunch or anywhere you want to look polished without looking like you're wearing dramatic false lashes. The lightweight band means you genuinely forget you're wearing them.
Best Wing Lashes: Lashify High-Class Wing Gossamer Set, $95Lashify
T. Cooper loves this for creating a defined cat-eye effect. "The trademarked lash set is made from 100% Premium Korean PBT Silk. The lashes give the eyes a defined winged look for a gorgeous, statement cat eye," they explain.
The High-Class Wing set is specifically designed with longer lashes at the outer corners that create an instant lifted, winged effect. The premium silk fibers hold their curl and shape beautifully. The Lashify under-lash application technique makes achieving the winged look easier than trying to place traditional strip lashes at the perfect angle.
Best Individual Lashes: Ardell Brown Medium Individuals, $6Amazon
Stern chose these for ultimate customization and natural results. Individual lashes let you build exactly the look you want by placing lashes one by one wherever you need extra volume or length. The brown color is particularly flattering for creating a soft, natural enhancement that doesn't look as harsh as black. They're perfect for filling in sparse areas, adding extra drama to outer corners or creating a completely custom lash line. The medium length works for most eye shapes and the individuals blend seamlessly with natural lashes.
Best Waterproof Adhesive: Duo Adhesive, $7Amazon
Both Stern and Figueroa swear by Duo for reliable, long-lasting hold. Stern calls it her pick for waterproof staying power, while Figueroa loves the DUO Brush-On Striplash Adhesive ($9.78) specifically for its precise application. The waterproof formula means your lashes stay put through tears, humidity, rain and even swimming. The brush-on version gives you more control than squeeze tubes, allowing you to apply a thin, even layer along the lash band. It dries clear, gets tacky quickly and creates a bond that lasts all day without irritation.
Best Luxury: Lilly Lashes, $18Amazon
Stern recommends Lilly Lashes when you want a big impact and are willing to invest. These luxury lashes deliver the dramatic volume and length you see on red carpets and in editorial shoots. The 3D layered design creates incredible dimension, and the premium materials make them reusable for many wears with proper care.
They're definitely a statement lash—you'll get compliments and questions about whether they're extensions. Perfect for special occasions, photo shoots or nights when you want your eyes to be the focal point. The invisible band and tapered ends keep them from looking costume-y despite the drama.
Best Reusable: MAC Lashes, $16Ulta
Stern mentioned MAC as a drama option, but these lashes truly shine in their reusability. MAC lashes are built to last—with proper cleaning and storage, you can get 20+ wears from a single pair. The high-quality synthetic fibers maintain their shape and curl through multiple uses, and the sturdy band doesn't become flimsy or lose its structure. While they're more expensive upfront than drugstore options, the per-wear cost is actually lower if you take care of them. The range of styles means there's a MAC lash for every occasion.
Best for Hooded Eyes: Ardell Press-On Pre-Glued Under Lash Extensions, $13Amazon
Figueroa specifically recommends these for hooded eyes because the under-lash application means they won't get hidden in the fold.
"They are incredibly user-friendly since they come pre-glued and include an applicator, making application quick and stress-free," she explains. "The best part is that they offer all-day wear without the mess of traditional lash glue."
Traditional strip lashes often disappear when you open your eyes if you have hooded lids, but under-lashes applied beneath your natural lashes remain visible and create a lifted effect.

Music Critics Just Named This Trailblazing Rock Album the Best of 1970
Rock music enthusiasts have long considered Black Sabbath’s 1970 release Paranoid one of the most important records in the history of heavy metal music. The second album Black Sabbath released that same year, Paranoid helped define the emerging sound of heavy metal and cement the band’s legacy as one of the pioneers of the genre. Decades later, the album is receiving yet another accolade after it was ranked the No. 1 album of 1970.
The Creation of ParanoidRecorded quickly with a raw and powerful sound that captured Black Sabbath at its creative peak, Paranoid features a lineup including Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums). Leaving behind much of the psychedelic sound of the 1960s, Paranoid features a darker, heavier style of rock that previewed what was to come in the 1970s.
Iconic Songs That Defined Heavy MetalParanoid features some of Black Sabbath’s most iconic songs, including "War Pigs," "Paranoid," and "Iron Man," which became defining heavy metal anthems. The title track "Paranoid" was written quickly to complete the album but unexpectedly became one of the band’s biggest hits.

Impact on Rock MusicThe album quickly topped the charts in the United Kingdom and introduced a broader audience to the heavier Black Sabbath sound. The success of Paranoid helped legitimize heavy metal as a genre and as an influential branch of rock music.
To this day, Paranoid continues to be cited by musicians across many genres who point to the album’s dark themes, thumping riffs, and relentless sound as hallmarks of heavy metal music. Paranoid has been covered by a variety of bands from Weezer to Megadeth. The album also helped pave the way for Black Sabbath’s legacy as the “godfathers of heavy metal” and inspired countless artists while expanding the possibilities of rock music.
More than fifty years after its release, Paranoid remains one of the most important rock albums ever recorded, and now it stands as the best that 1970 had to offer.

The Easiest Airline Status to Chase in 2026, According to the Points Guy (Exclusive)
If you’ve ever glanced longingly at the priority boarding lane while hovering in Group 9, 2026 might be your year to finally cross the velvet rope. But here is the reality check: the "Elite Earnings Hamster Wheel" is real. According to Clint Henderson, travel expert at The Points Guy, the days of earning status solely by logging miles in the air are fading.
"Chasing status is less and less worth it now because of increased earning requirements, dynamic pricing and watered-down benefits," Henderson warns. However, if you’re ready to play the game, there are a few "easy" paths left.

The Best Bets for "Easy" StatusFor those looking for the shortest path to the top, Henderson points to two clear winners: American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
- American Airlines: "AAdvantage uses a system called Loyalty Points, which you can accrue via flying, shopping or spending on credit cards," says Henderson.
- Alaska Airlines: For those who miss the old days of travel, "Alaska Mileage Plan lets you choose elite status based on either revenue or actual flying."
- Delta Air Lines: If you just want a foot in the door, Delta remains the easiest for low-tier status. "You can get basic status just for holding two of their high-end credit cards," Henderson notes.

The Credit Card StrategyIf you aren't a weekly business traveler, your wallet is your best tool. "The best way is to put a TON of spend on a co-branded credit card," Henderson advises.
- The "Gold" Shortcut: Henderson personally holds both the Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Platinum cards. "If you were to get both the personal and business versions of both of the cards, you would get Delta Gold status," he explains. The 2,500 MQD (Medallion Qualification Dollars) boost from each can actually land you Gold status without ever leaving the ground.
- The Shopping Portal Power-Up: Before you buy that new blender, log into portals like AAdvantage eShopping or United MileagePlus Shopping. Spending through these portals—along with booking hotels via sites like aadvantagehotels.com—can catapult you toward elite levels much faster than a standard coach seat. "Spending through these portals can give you status earning in many cases."

The New Pro Move: The "Ad Hoc" UpgradeBefore you start your "mileage run," consider if you’re better off just paying as you go. "Most top-tier elites are no longer getting regular upgrades because they are being sold so cheaply to people without status," Henderson says.
His pro tip? Go for mid-tier status at most, or simply grab a co-branded card for the free bags, priority boarding and extra-leg-room seats. "Airlines are now offering cheap upgrades for cash or miles that are often a better value than hoping for a status-based upgrade that may never come," he says.

1984 Rock Classic Hit No. 1 41 Years Ago Today
The song "Can't Fight This Feeling" by American rock band REO Speedwagon was originally released in December 1984 as a single from the album Wheels Are Turnin', and by March of the next year, it was a certified hit.
On March 9, 1985, exactly 41 years ago, the track became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It held the top position for three consecutive weeks. The song was REO Speedwagon's second and last No. 1 hit song, with the first being "Keep on Loving You" in March 1981.
The rock band also had plenty of other songs make it into the Top 40, including "Take It on the Run," "That Ain't Love," and "In My Dreams," to name a few.
Along with "Can't Fight This Feeling," the other singles from the group's 11th studio album, Wheels Are Turnin', included "I Do' Wanna Know," "One Lonely Night," and "Live Every Moment."

"Can't Fight This Feeling" was written by lead singer and guitarist Kevin Cronin, and he talked about the inspiration for the song in an episode of The Big Interview with Dan Rather.
He recounted the story of a girl he had feelings for who was dating a friend of his, and having to face his fear of rejection a year later, when they finally broke up, and he had the opportunity to reveal his true feelings.
Sharing how he wrote the song, Cronin explained, "I started it in about 1973. I wrote the verses, but I couldn't write the chorus... The truth is, I hadn't lived the chorus yet."
"Finally, about 12 years later," he went on. "I had a cathartic day, and I literally was on the floor of my bedroom, crying and sweating, and it finally came to me."
Thankfully, Cronin was finally able to complete the song, and it went on to become one of the most popular power ballads in rock history.

The First Physical Tour of Dollywood’s Newest Ride Proves Why It Is the One to Beat in 2026
The latest preview of Dollywood’s 2026 expansion has finally confirmed why theme park experts are already calling NightFlight Expedition the most significant opening of the year. While the park has been dropping digital teasers for months, a recent walk-through of the 44,000-square-foot construction site—covered in a reported preview by USA TODAY—reveals the high-tech reality behind the "Soarin' on steroids" hype.

New Specs on the "Smokies on Steroids" TechWe knew it would be immersive, but Naughton just upped the ante by describing the experience as "Soarin’ on steroids." The key difference? The digital technology. Unlike other flight simulators, where the row in front of you might spoil the illusion, NightFlight features three-quarters digital coverage over your head across three specific rooms. The result is a total-immersion flight through the Smokies where you won’t see a single dangling foot in your field of vision.

The Mystery of the "Rocking Boat" SystemOne of the most exciting technical reveals involves the amphibious ride vehicle developed with Mack Rides. While a similar vehicle exists in France, Dollywood’s version is a world-first custom design. The ride utilizes half a million gallons of water to simulate whitewater rafting, yet Naughton confirmed that the speed, temperature and "splash factor" are all strictly controlled. You’ll feel the "rip-roaring rapids," but you won’t leave the 44,000-square-foot facility soaking wet—a major win for the park’s goal of operating during the chilly November and December months.

Dolly’s Personal InspirationThe attraction’s story is a love letter to Dolly Parton’s childhood memories of chasing fireflies in the "holler" at night. Riders join botanist twins Cora and Jasper Oakley on a mission to find the "Secret Lake" that powers the park’s iconic Wildwood Tree. The preview reveals the "Bioluminator" device mounted to the front of each 10-person vehicle, which guests will use to track the glowing roots throughout the forest.
Innovation for Every GuestExperts are highlighting the ride's new "transfer track" system—a first for Dollywood. This dedicated loading area allows guests in wheelchairs to board their boat at their own pace without pausing the ride’s high-capacity flow of 1,200 people per hour. With a 39-inch height requirement, the attraction is engineered for the whole family, ensuring that five-year-olds and grandparents can experience the "top ride of 2026" together when it officially launches later this spring.

50 Years Ago Today, ‘Family’ Premiered and Made Kristy McNichol a Star
In 1976, Kristy McNichol became a breakout star on the ABC drama series Family. The then 13-year-old actress made her debut as Leticia “Buddy” Lawrence on the series on March 9, 1976, and went on to appear in 86 episodes. Family ran for five seasons, until June 1980.
Starring McNichol, Sada Thompson, James Broderick, Gary Frank, Meredith Baxter, and Quinn Cummings (who joined the cast in Season 4), Family followed the Pasadena, CA, clan, the Lawrences. The show stood out for Buddy’s coming-of-age storylines, including pressure from her boyfriend Zack (recurring guest star Leif Garrett) to have sex.
In 1977 and 1979, McNichol won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role as Buddy Lawrence. In her 1979 speech, she said she was not expecting the win, but noted that now she had “bookend” trophies. McNichol thanked all of her co-stars as well as showrunners Nigel and Carol McKeand, and then-new producer Ed Zwick, whom she described as “very young and fun.”
The role came easyIn a 1979 interview with McCall’s, McNichol said she modeled the Buddy character after herself. “Buddy and I have been growing up together these past three years on the show. I made her like me,” she said. “I made her wear her hair the way I do mine and wear clothes I like. [The role is] easy, because I’m just playing myself.”
At the time, the outlet reported that McNichol was paid $15,000 per episode on Family.
“By the time that show ended, I knew everything about working on a set, working with a crew, working with a director,” McNichol told The New York Times in a 1981 interview. “I'm observant, and I picked things up quickly.''

A rise to fameMcNichol’s Family fame scored her a lead role in the 1978 TV movie Summer of My German Soldier. At the time, her mother, Carolyn, told McCall’s, "Before I saw her in German Soldier, even I wasn't aware of her potential. But when I read the script, I knew it was the chance we'd been waiting for, for her to break out of her Family image. After all, I don't want her stuck in Doris Day-type roles the rest of her life."
In March 1980, four years after Family debuted, McNichol had her big-screen breakthrough playing Angel Bright in the movie Little Darlings. Family aired its final episode three months later, but by that time, the actress was a full-on teen phenomenon.
McNichol continued to act into the 1990s, starring in the sitcomEmpty Nest from 1988 to 1992, before retiring from acting for good to prioritize her mental health and personal life, per The Los Angeles Times.
In 2014, McNichol told People magazine, “I was on the big stage between ages 8 and 30. I left show business for a variety of reasons, but a big one was my interest in learning what else there is in life.”
“This phase of my life is so good,” she added in the 2014 interview.
While she hasn’t been seen on TV or in the movies since, the Family alum quipped “never say never’ when asked if she’d ever consider a return to acting.
Dollar Tree's Charming Coastal-Inspired Baskets Are Your New Catch-All for Clutter

If you're a regular Dollar Tree shopper, chances are you've developed an excellent radar for the items that are going to sell out quickly. Like those tiny riffs on Stanley 1913 tumblers, for example. Some products just stand out, whether it's because they're super-affordable dupes of trendy favorites, or because they're useful household necessities that happen to be a great value (and pretty cute, too).
Long-time Dollar Tree customers may scoff at the fact that the retailer has had to increase its prices over the years, but you can still score a deal here. One area where it always comes through? Storage and organization. Frankly, if you're looking at decluttering your home, I'd check out Dollar Tree's organization offerings first, then fill in whatever else you need at other retailers.
Striped Woven Straw Basket, $5 at Dollar TreeDollar Tree
Dollar Tree just added these Striped Woven Straw Baskets to its shelves for $5 each. The baskets have a coastal vibe, with either white or white-and-green horizontal stripes running around the circumference.
The baskets themselves aren't huge, only about 11.8 inches in diameter and roughly 4.5 inches tall on the sides. With those dimensions, it works nicely as a small catch-all organizer in a number of different rooms.

For instance, if you're looking for a way to declutter your bathroom countertop, it's perfect for things like rolled hand towels, washcloths or hairbrushes. In a kitchen, it can corral kitchen towels or serve as a fruit basket for apples and oranges. But wait for it: These beauties could also be helpful in an entryway to collect mail, keys, and other stuff that's usually scattered on a console table.
Your entire home doesn't have to be decked out in coastal chic decor for these baskets to blend in. Woven pieces work just as well with a cottagecore look or even a full-on boho vibe—adding texture to countertops and other surfaces.
I can't stress enough how great Dollar Tree is as an affordable resource for cute decor and housewares, whether you're sprucing up your place for spring or starting from scratch in a new home. This Car Was Named the Best Choice for Road Trips in 2026
There’s something timeless about a road trip. Whether you’re driving along the Pacific Coast, exploring national parks, or cruising down historic highways like Route 66, the journey is just as important as the destination. But one thing can quickly ruin a long drive: the wrong car.
That’s why automotive experts pay close attention to which vehicles are best suited for long-distance travel. According to rankings from U.S. News & World Report, the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid earned the title of Editor’s Choice for road trips in 2026, thanks to its combination of comfort, fuel efficiency, and practicality.
View this post on Instagram Why the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Stands OutRoad trips often involve hours behind the wheel, so comfort is key. The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid excels here with a quiet cabin and spacious seating in both rows, making it comfortable for both drivers and passengers. Whether you’re heading out for a weekend getaway or a cross-country adventure, having room to stretch out can make a big difference.
Fuel efficiency is another major advantage. The Tucson Hybrid gets around 38 mpg, which helps drivers go farther between stops. For long trips, that means fewer gas station visits and more time enjoying the journey.
Performance is also an important factor when driving on highways or passing slower traffic. The hybrid powertrain provides plenty of power when you need it, and the vehicle includes standard all-wheel drive, making it capable in different weather and road conditions.
Inside, the Tucson Hybrid comes packed with modern technology that enhances the driving experience. Standard features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless device charging, and multiple USB ports so everyone can keep their devices powered up. Long drives feel easier when navigation, music, and apps are easy to access.

Other Great Road Trip VehiclesWhile the Tucson Hybrid took the top spot, several other vehicles also stood out in the 2026 rankings.
The Honda Civic was named the best budget option. Starting under $25,000, it offers excellent fuel economy and advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control. Despite being a compact car, it provides surprising interior space and supportive seats for long drives.
For travelers interested in electric vehicles, the Tesla Model 3 earned recognition for its incredible efficiency. With more than 300 miles of range and quick charging capabilities, it proves that EVs can be practical for road trips.
Families may prefer the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, a minivan designed with space and convenience in mind. With three rows of seating and plenty of cargo room, it’s ideal for packing luggage, snacks, and gear for longer adventures.
Other vehicles that made the list include the Honda CR‑V Hybrid, Chevrolet Suburban, Volkswagen Atlas, and even the sporty Ford Mustang, which proves that road trips don’t always have to be about practicality, they can be about fun, too.
View this post on Instagram What Makes a Car Perfect for Road Trips? When experts evaluate road-trip vehicles, they typically look at a few key factors. Passenger space is essential, since drivers and passengers will spend hours sitting in the same position. Comfortable seats and a quiet cabin help reduce fatigue.
Cargo space is another must-have. Road trips often involve suitcases, coolers, and sometimes camping gear, so having enough storage without crowding passengers is important.
Technology also plays a role. A user-friendly infotainment system with smartphone connectivity allows travelers to navigate routes, stream music, and stay connected on the road.

On This Day in 2021, Queen Elizabeth Said She’d Deal With Harry, Meghan ‘Privately’ After Oprah
Queen Elizabeth waited one day to respond to claims made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the duo's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey on March 9, 2021.
The couple, who exited the royal family a year earlier, sat down with the talk show host to discuss their departure. The wide-ranging interview quickly made headlines around the world.
The Oprah interview discussed a myriad of topics, including Meghan and Kate Middleton's relationship, royal life, and their relationship with the queen. However, the most shocking of the couple's claims came when Meghan told Winfrey that prior to their son's birth, "There [were] conversations with Harry about how dark [Prince Archie] is going to be and what that would mean or look like."
This interview led to a swift Buckingham Palace response just one day later, on March 9, 2021. The tell-all aired in the U.S. on March 7, but in the United Kingdom the following day.

The queen's statement read, "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning."
It continued, "While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members."

Harry further discussed his and Meghan's claims in his autobiography, Spare. In an interview about the book with ITV's Tom Bradby, the Duke of Sussex pushed back on the public's interpretation of their comments in the Oprah interview.
Bradby said to Harry, "In the Oprah interview, you accuse members of your family of racism." The duke swiftly replied, "No. The British press said that, right? Did Meghan ever mention 'they're racists?'"

When the journalist tried to challenge the prince's statement, Harry added, "The difference between racism and unconscious bias. The two things are different."
"Once it's been acknowledged or pointed out to you as an individual, or otherwise an institution, that you have unconscious bias, you, therefore, have an opportunity to learn and grow from that. Otherwise, unconscious bias then moves into the category of racism," he concluded.
Prince Harry's public relationship with senior members of the royal family remains unchanged. He has reportedly moved toward a reconciliation with his father, King Charles, in recent years.
2013 Hit Ranked 'Most Overplayed Country Song' Was Actually Co-Written by Bob Dylan
Let's face it: every genre has songs that are a bit over-exposed. From Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird" to New Edition's "Poison" to Britney Spears' "Toxic," there are songs that are certified hits that we all know and love—and songs that we could probably take a break from hearing.
It's no different when it comes to country music. The genre is enjoying a renaissance with new stars like Lainey Wilson, Vincent Mason, and Ella Langley(whose "Choosin' Texas" is the Hot 100 No. 1 song at the moment).
However, it still has some of its "classics" that, at this point, are getting a bit stale, and the worst offender is none other than "Wagon Wheel."
"Wagon Wheel" is the most overplayed country song, according to American Songwriter, which says it has "a fighting chance to be the most overplayed song regardless of genre."Its popularity and overplaying have gotten the song banned from certain bars in Nashville, and it's all Old Crow Medicine Show's fault.
Though it's not the most famous version, OCMS was the band that first unleashed it on the world by including it on an early EP and on their second album, OCMS, in 2004.
Yet, the song has its roots in a bootleg Bob Dylan demo from 1973. "I'd gotten a Dylan bootleg in like ninth grade," said Old Crow's Chris "Critter" Fuqua, per Wide Open Country, "and I let Ketch (Secor) listen to it, and he wrote the verses because Bob kind of mumbles them, and that was it."'
Old Crow Medicine Show, 'Wagon Wheel'Bob wrote and recorded the demo, titled "Rock Me, Mama," while working on the soundtrack to Sam Peckinpah'sPat Garrett and Billy the Kid. The demo and "Wagon Wheel" have similar "rock me, mama" structure, though that's where the similarities end.
"We've been playing that song since we were like 17, and it's funny because we've never met Dylan, but the song is technically co-written by Bob Dylan," said Fuqua. Dylan, who claimed he got the "rock me, mama" phrase from Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, who himself picked it up from varous other old blues songs.
OCMS and Dylan split royalties-50-50, though it's not theirs is not version that people mostly know.
"What's great about 'Wagon Wheel' is that it has grown organically," said Fuqua. "The popularity of it was all based on word of mouth. There was no radio airplay for it. We made a music video for it, but it wasn't 'November Rain' or anything. No one was like, 'Oh my God, what's this video about?' And 16 years later, it went gold, then Darius Rucker cut it.'"
Darius Rucker, 'Wagon Wheel'Rucker covered the song, with help from Lady A, for his 2013 solo album, True Believers.
"So, I'm at my daughter's high school talent show, and I'm sitting in the audience with my family. We were watching my daughter, and the faculty band gets up. It's just the faculty from her school, and they play 'Wagon Wheel,'" he said, per Taste of Country.
"I'm sitting in the audience, and they get to the middle of the chorus, and I turned to my wife, and I go, 'I've got to cut this song.' I'm serious. This all happened in three-and-a-half minutes, four minutes, while they're playing the song,"
Rucker's version of "Wagon Wheel" was a smash hit, going to No. 1 on both the US Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts. It peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually went Platinum eleven times.
Oddly enough, Rucker's version isn't the only successful "Wagon Wheel" cover.
Nathan Carter, 'Wagon Wheel'English-Irish singer Nathan Carter put his own spin on it in 2012. The song took off, reaching No. 14 on the Irish singles chart, making it a crossover success in the pop world.
His version of "Wagon Wheel" was a major commercial success--and it also won him the Irish Country Music Awards for Live Act Of The Year and Ireland's All Time Favourite Country Music Song.
So, at this point, no one ever needs to play it or cover it ever again, according to American Songwriter.
"Just about everyone with an acoustic guitar has a version of the song in their repertoire as well," writes the publication. "'Wagon Wheel" is, without a doubt, a great song. If it wasn't…it wouldn't be overplayed. At the same time, it's an incredibly easy song to play. As a result, it is accessible to musicians of nearly any skill level. Because of those things, it has become the roots music version of [Oasis's] 'Wonderwall.'"
And what do you know? Even Britpop has overplayed hits.
