New Study Reveals This Unexpected Hotel Chain Has the Best Reward Programs

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:53am

Hotel loyalty programs have long promised travelers something alluring. Stay enough nights and eventually the perks will follow. Free stays, upgrades, late checkout, maybe even a lounge with complimentary snacks. But a new analysis suggests the best rewards program in the industry might come from a hotel chain many travelers associate with convenience rather than luxury.

A recent study by WalletHub evaluated the rewards programs of nine major hotel brands across more than 20 different metrics, including the value of points, redemption flexibility, earning potential, and overall member benefits. The results were surprising. Choice Privileges, the loyalty program from Choice Hotels, came out on top. According to reporting by Travel + Leisure, the program delivered some of the strongest overall value for travelers across multiple spending levels.

Why the Choice Privileges Program Ranked No. 1

WalletHub’s analysis compared hotel rewards programs across three spending tiers: light travelers who spend about $500 per year on hotels, moderate travelers spending around $1,500, and heavy travelers spending roughly $6,000 annually. The researchers evaluated programs based on factors such as reward value, blackout dates, geographic coverage, point expiration policies, and elite status perks.

Choice Privileges performed well across nearly every category. One of the most important factors was the program’s high rewards value relative to spending. According to the study, members can receive roughly $14 in rewards value for every $100 spent, one of the strongest returns among the programs analyzed.

Another advantage is how quickly members can earn points compared with some competitors. Free nights can start at relatively modest redemption levels depending on location and demand, which means occasional travelers may actually reach a reward faster than they would in some luxury focused loyalty systems. As Travel + Leisure notes, this accessibility played a major role in the program’s top ranking.

The WalletHub analysis highlighted several features that helped the program stand out from its competitors:

  • High rewards value: The program offers strong returns on hotel spending compared with many competing loyalty systems.
  • Large hotel footprint: Choice Hotels operates thousands of properties across more than 40 countries, increasing opportunities to earn and redeem points.
  • Accessible redemption rates: Many award nights require fewer points than higher end hotel programs.
  • No blackout dates: Members can often redeem rewards even during busy travel periods.
  • Points that are relatively easy to earn: Stays accumulate points quickly compared with some luxury programs.
  • Coverage in practical travel destinations: Properties are common along highways, near airports, and in smaller cities.

Together, these factors helped the program achieve a higher overall score than many larger hotel brands in the analysis.

How Choice Compared With Other Major Hotel Loyalty Programs

Choice Privileges earned the top spot in the WalletHub ranking, but several other programs also performed well. According to the study, the top programs included:

  1. Choice Privileges
  2. World of Hyatt
  3. Wyndham Rewards
  4. Marriott Bonvoy
  5. Sonesta Travel Pass

Each program has different strengths. Hyatt is often praised for elite status benefits and redemption value. Marriott Bonvoy offers one of the largest hotel portfolios in the world, giving travelers enormous geographic reach. Wyndham Rewards frequently performs well because of its straightforward point structure and broad presence in budget friendly properties.

Still, the study’s findings highlight an interesting truth about travel rewards. The program with the most luxury hotels does not necessarily deliver the best overall value.

What Travelers Should Look for in a Hotel Rewards Program

If you are choosing a loyalty program, the study offers a helpful reminder that value is not just about prestige. Travelers should consider several practical factors when selecting a program. The first is hotel availability. A loyalty program is only useful if its properties exist in the places you visit most often. Another important factor is how quickly rewards accumulate. Programs that require enormous point balances before offering free nights can feel frustrating for occasional travelers.

Finally, flexibility matters. Programs that avoid blackout dates, offer reasonable expiration policies, and allow a range of redemption options tend to provide the most usable rewards. For many travelers, the ideal program is not necessarily the one with the most glamorous hotels. It is the one that quietly delivers value trip after trip.

The Bottom Line for Travelers

Choice Privileges may not be the first program that comes to mind when travelers think about loyalty perks. Yet its combination of strong rewards value, accessible redemption levels, and a massive network of practical hotels helped it outperform several higher profile competitors.

For travelers who prioritize real world value over aspirational luxury, that formula might actually be the smarter way to travel.

1967 Record Ranked Among 'Greatest Albums of All Time' Hit No. 1 58 Years Ago Today

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:45am

A year after his 1966 motorcycle accident and a brief hiatus from touring, Bob Dylan came back with John Wesley Harding. The stripped-down album sounded nothing like the psychedelic music dominating the late ‘60s — yet on March 9, 1968, it reached No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart for a 10-week run.

Before his hiatus, Dylan released the double-album classic Blonde on Blonde and wrapped a world tour that divided audiences from London to Los Angeles. Even after famously “going electric” in 1965, his electrified takes on classic folk songs still didn’t sit well with some fans.

While Dylan spent 1967 quietly in Woodstock, New York, recording experimental demos with The Band, the rest of the world was caught up in the psychedelic “Summer of Love,” with albums like Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band dominating the charts.

Amid this era, Dylan returned with a record that was entirely his own. Released in December 1967, John Wesley Harding brought him back to simpler arrangements and semi-acoustic instrumentation.

While Dylan’s previous three albums leaned heavily into blues-rock, this record was built around acoustic guitar, country influences and American roots traditions.

He was also intentional about how the album would be introduced to the public. While many late-1960s releases relied on heavy promotion and radio singles, he asked his label to keep the rollout minimal.

“I asked Columbia to release it with no publicity and no hype, because this was the season of hype,” Dylan later said. He even refused to release a single from the album.

Despite that approach, John Wesley Harding quickly found an audience. After its release, the album steadily rose on the charts and ultimately reached No. 1 in the United Kingdom in 1968, where it spent 10 weeks at the top and remained on the chart for 29 weeks overall.

The album’s performance in the United States looked slightly different. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Top LPs chart rather than reaching the top spot. Still, it proved to be a major commercial success, eventually earning Gold certification in the UK and Platinum certification in the United States.

Even now, John Wesley Harding continues to divide fans on whether it’s Dylan’s best. Rolling Stone at least partially settled the argument in 2003, naming it one of the Greatest Albums of All Time

Woman Shares How a Medical Emergency on a Flight Taught Her an Important Lesson About Carry-Ons

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:41am

Travel delays can feel like the worst part of flying. Long lines, rebooked flights, and the quiet frustration of watching departure boards flicker with cancellations. But for one traveler, a delayed flight turned into something far more serious and left her with a piece of advice that many passengers overlook.

The story, first reported by The Mary Sue, follows TikToker @sabrinapangilinan who shared on social media how a routine flight with Philippine Airlines in 2024 turned unexpectedly tense after a fellow passenger experienced a medical scare midair. The experience ultimately highlighted an important travel lesson that aviation experts repeat often but travelers still forget: essential medication should always stay in your carry-on bag.

♬ original sound - S - sabrina How a Routine Flight Turned Into a Midair Medical Scare

According to the traveler’s account, the situation started with a frustrating but familiar problem. Her original flight was cancelled after passengers had already boarded, forcing everyone off the plane and into a long delay while the airline arranged accommodations and a later departure.

During the disruption she began chatting with an older woman who was also traveling alone and a family of four. The passengers bonded during the delay, and despite a weird hotel accommodation situation, ended up seated near each other when the replacement flight finally departed.

For a while, the trip seemed completely normal. Then partway through the flight the elderly passenger began feeling ill. She reportedly complained of discomfort before becoming visibly distressed, clutching her chest and struggling to breathe. The atmosphere in the cabin quickly shifted as nearby passengers and crew tried to help.

As the situation unfolded, it became clear that the woman had missed a scheduled dose of medication earlier in the journey. The reason was simple but critical. Her medication had been packed in her checked luggage, which had been separated from her for 24 hours during the cancellation and rebooking process. Without immediate access to the medication she needed, the in-flight medical situation became far more stressful for everyone involved.

Why Experts Say Medication Should Always Be in Your Carry-On

Situations like this are exactly why travel and health experts strongly advise passengers to keep essential medication in their carry-on bags rather than checked luggage. Flight disruptions are extremely common. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, delays and cancellations affect thousands of flights every year. When bags are checked, travelers may not see them again for many hours or even days if flights change unexpectedly.

Medical experts also point out that emergencies do happen on airplanes. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that in-flight medical emergencies occur on roughly one out of every 600 commercial flights, with fainting, breathing problems, and cardiac symptoms among the most frequent issues.

When medication is packed in checked luggage, travelers may not be able to access it when they need it most. Keeping prescriptions within reach ensures that doses can be taken on time and that treatment is available if symptoms suddenly worsen.

What Travelers Should Always Pack in a Carry-On

This story is a reminder that the most important items in a carry-on bag are not always the obvious ones like headphones or travel snacks. Seasoned travelers often keep a small essentials kit in their personal item so they are prepared for delays, long layovers, or unexpected health issues.

Common items experts recommend keeping in a carry-on include:

  • All prescription medications
  • A copy of prescriptions or medical documentation
  • Basic pain relievers or allergy medication
  • Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes
  • A reusable water bottle
  • Electrolyte packets for hydration

These items take up little space but can make a huge difference when travel plans suddenly change. I have personally learned that lesson the hard way during long travel days. A flight delay can stretch a three hour journey into something that lasts half a day. When that happens, the small essentials in your carry-on become far more valuable than anything packed in the suitcase you checked hours earlier.

A Simple Travel Lesson Hidden in a Stressful Moment

In the end, the flight continued and the situation eventually stabilized, but the experience left a strong impression on the traveler who shared the story. What started as a routine trip became a reminder of how unpredictable air travel can be. Delays, cancellations, and health issues can all happen with little warning.

For travelers, the takeaway is simple and practical. The most important items you bring on a trip should always stay close at hand. Sometimes the difference between a stressful situation and a manageable one is simply having what you need within reach at 35,000 feet.

Demi Moore Shares Life-Changing Advice She Received at 14 From 'Happy Days' Creator

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:38am

Demi Moore still recalls the life-changing advice Happy Days creator Garry Marshall gave her at just 14, which helped to guide her as she searched for direction in her career.

According to Daily Mail, speaking during a Power Talk panel at Kerastase’s global Chronologiste launch on March 3, Moore reflected on Marshall's words, which she shared "completely changed my life."

"I remember when I was 14, and I was living in California, and I was invited to go see a taping of the TV show Happy Days.  And I was so excited to be there," she began.

"The creator of that show was a man named Garry Marshall, and I don’t know what I was doing or what I was saying — and I did talk to him about this many years later — but he turned to me, and he said, ‘If you could bottle that energy, you could do something with it,’" she said.

Those words touched Moore deeply and stayed with her as she shaped her career in Hollywood.

She continued, "That moment, he infused in me a level of, I don't want to say confidence, but a specificity of direction that I needed so desperately; I was able to take something and contain it and direct it towards what I ended up doing for my career."

When Moore saw Marshall as an adult, she told him, "'I said to him many years later, 'You said this thing to me and it completely changed my life.' And he, in fact, didn't remember the conversation at all, but it's irrelevant because what is important that I took away from that is also knowing that we never know the seed we might plant for somebody else."

'Don't ever underestimate the impact you might have by giving of yourself to someone else," she added.

Marshall had an incredible career in Hollywood. Aside from creating Happy Days, he directed the films Beaches (1988), Pretty Woman (1990), Runaway Bride (1999), The Princess Diaries (2001), and Valentine's Day (2010), to name a few.

Marshall died in 2016 after suffering a stroke. He was 81.

'Outlander' Book Fans Are Outraged With Season 8 Premiere Storyline

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:33am

Outlander fans have waited patiently for the final season of the series, with a lot of apprehension about one particular arc introduced at the very end of Outlander Season 7. This storyline immediately raised a red flag for book fans, especially those who want Diana Gabaldon’s story told just as it is in the books.

The end of Outlander Season 7 introduced the idea that Faith Fraser survived, despite being stillborn during the second season. The final season quickly picked up with that arc, making it clear that Claire (Caitríona Balfe)and Jamie (Sam Heughan) believe that Faith is still alive. They don’t know how or why, but they believe that she did survive and that Fanny is their biological granddaughter.

‘Outlander’ Book Fans Outrage At the Idea

Immediately, most book fans took to social media to share not just their disappointment but also their anger and outrage over the storyline change. During Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, Claire does briefly wonder if Fanny and Jane’s mother is the same Faith as her stillborn daughter, but she quickly rules that out.

⚔️Don’t miss our Outlander newsletter for access to exclusive news, interviews, insider info from Diana Gabaldon and more – sign up now!⚔️

It’s simply not possible. At least, in the minds of book fans. Considering Claire went into premature labor and the time period the story was set in, there wouldn’t have been the medical intervention needed for Faith to survive.

The only way for Faith to survive would have been for someone to lie about her being stillborn or through the use of magic. It opens a can of worms with Master Raymond and Mother Hildegarde. This turns these beloved additions into evil characters.

There are also complaints that the opening of Outlander Season 8 changed Claire’s character considerably. She became a murderer in her anger, as she stabbed the ship’s captain, something she wouldn’t have done due to taking the Hippocratic oath.

OakLab6636 shared on Reddit about how the change to Faith’s story “cheapened the significance of the loss of a child,” furthering the issues. Soft_Proof7452 agreed with the sentiment, sharing, "I really hope it’s a red herring. It cheapens the whole faith story in season two which in my opinion was the best episode of the entire series."

A Waste of Time Considering the Book Storylines

On top of fans being outraged at what this means for characters already introduced, it also takes up time with a storyline that’s arguably unnecessary. There are only 10 episodes on Outlander Season 8, and that time is precious. Ilnd on Reddit stated, “Especially since we only have ten episodes to tie things up. Don't be jumping the shark this late in the game.”

The final season is based on the ninth book, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, by Diana Gabaldon. Numerous arcs from that book have already been started, including the reunion with Brianna and the family, the introduction of Captain Charles Cunningham and his mother, and the possible death of William’s cousin, Benjamin.

All this leads to the question of whether there is enough time. Let’s remember that Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone ends with multiple cliffhangers, so they need to be resolved for the show.

Outlander Season 8 now becomes convoluted with a storyline that book fans already made clear they didn’t want. It remains to be seen how much the Faith storyline takes over, as it does seem like it’s done with after the premiere, but it doesn’t take away from the anger of the book fans.

Beloved 'Halo' Voice Actor Slams White House For 'Disgusting and Juvenile' New Video: 'Remove My Voice Immediately'

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:32am

Steve Downes, the celebrated voice actor best known for voicing the iconic video game protagonist Master Chief in Halo, has officially clapped back against a recent video montage shared by the White House.

The video in question, which recycles footage from Halo, Top Gun, Iron Man and Tropic Thunder among others, was widely circulated by the Trump Administration over social media, with its ultimate objective to boost American support of the ongoing military conflict in Iran.

“It has come to my attention that there is at least one propaganda video circulating that was either produced or at the very least endorsed by the White House that uses images of Master Chief and uses my voice to support the war in Iran,” Downes wrote on X (via Variety).

“Let me make this crystal clear: I did not participate in nor was l of consulted, nor do I endorse the use my voice in this video, or the message it conveys,” the 75-year-old voice actor went on to say.

“I demand that the producers of this disgusting and juvenile war porn remove my voice immediately,” Downes said.

Downes' comments echo similar sentiments from various artists whose work the White House has adopted to seemingly endorse Trump-backed policies and initiatives. Previously, Ben Stiller expressed dissatisfaction with the same video montage Downes referenced on X, demanding that the White House remove any clips from Tropic Thunder from the aforementioned video.

“Hey White House, please remove the Tropic Thunder clip,” Stiller wrote on X. “We never gave you permission and have no interest in being a part of your propaganda machine. War is not a movie.”

Pop star Kesha also criticized the Trump Administration for using her song "Blow" in a clip supporting the war in Iran.

“It’s come to my attention that The White House has used one of my songs on TikTok to incite violence and threaten war,” Kesha said. “Trying to make light of war is disgusting and inhumane. I absolutely do NOT approve of my music being used to promote violence of any kind."

TV Host John Tesh Is Still Fighting Rare Cancer 10 Years After Being Given 18 Months To Live

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:32am

John Tesh was given a slim chance that he'd live much longer back in 2015, but the former Entertainment Tonight host defied the odds.

The beloved ET alum and "Roundball Rock" maestro, 73, opened up in a new interview with Page Six and shared that he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. Tesh elaborated by saying it's a “rare form of prostate cancer, which is metastatic now.”

“I was given 18 months to live,” he shared. “So, I’ve been fighting cancer successfully, still fighting it. It’s still under treatment, on and off.”

That means the TV legend has successfully continued to battle the disease for over a decade!

Tesh went on to say that instead of being in remission, he is “stable, which, he admitted, is a frightening thought.”

“They will let it grow for a little bit,” he shared, “and then get me back on treatment, back and forth. It’s called pulsing, and it’s scary until you get used to it because it’s like, ‘Why am I living with cancer?'”

How Did Tesh Get Through His Cancer Battle?

In addition to thanking his incredible care team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Tesh was quick to point out that he gives all credit to the support of his wife of 34 years, Connie Sellecca.

“Without my wife Connie, who has been my advocate over the years, I wouldn’t be talking,” he told the publication. “I’d be dead. I would have been dead in 2015.”

He went on to say that with Connie, they found biblical passages that directly gave the couple tremendous strength.

“We discovered in 2015 several scriptures in the Bible which were related directly to healing,” he continued. “One of them was Mark 11:23, which was incredibly powerful and I have it tattooed on my arm.”

Did John Tesh Really Write "Roundball Rock"?

In addition to his radio and Entertainment Tonight duties, Tesh is an accomplished composer. He wrote "Roundball Rock" in 1990 for the NBA on NBC, and the legendary tune returned to the NBA in 2025. To hear the untold story behind the iconic song, watch below:

1973 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 53 Years Ago Today

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:27am

A 1973 classic was “The Lord Knows I’m Drinking,” the breakthrough, crossover hit by country singer Cal Smith.

Written by renowned singer-songwriter Bill Anderson, the song reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart this week in 1973, giving Smith the first chart-topping hit of his career. The record spent 15 weeks inside the country chart’s Top 40 and even crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 64.

Released in November 1972 as the third single from Smith’s album I've Found Someone of My Own, the song quickly became one of the most talked-about country hits of the early 1970s.

“The Lord Knows I’m Drinking” tells the story of a man sitting in a bar when a churchgoing woman confronts him about his behavior. Instead of backing down, the narrator pushes back against what he sees as hypocrisy and judgment, delivering one of the era’s sharpest barroom rebukes to self-righteous moralizing.

The song resonated strongly with listeners and helped elevate Smith to a new level of stardom. In 1973, it earned a nomination for Single of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards. Smith ultimately lost that category to himself when his massive hit “Country Bumpkin” took home the honor.

Born Calvin Grant Shofner in Oklahoma, Smith first gained national attention playing guitar for Ernest Tubb’s famed Texas Troubadours during the 1960s. He left the band in 1969 to pursue a solo career and began scoring chart success in the early 1970s after signing with Decca Records.

“The Lord Knows I’m Drinking” arrived just before the label transitioned to MCA Records, where Smith would go on to enjoy the biggest successes of his career. In 1974 he recorded two of his signature songs, “Country Bumpkin” and “It’s Time to Pay the Fiddler,” both of which topped the country chart.

More than five decades later, “The Lord Knows I’m Drinking” remains one of Smith’s defining recordings—and one of country music’s most memorable songs about calling out hypocrisy with a little humor and a cold drink.

Conan O'Brien Reflects On Being 'Dragged Into' Rob and Michele Reiner Murders

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:25am

Conan O'Brien hosted a holiday party in December 2025 that is now marked by tragedy after the deaths of Rob and MicheleReiner.

Beloved filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, were brutally murdered inside their Brentwood, California, home on Sunday, December 14. The previous night, the couple attended O'Brien's holiday party with their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, who was later charged with his parents' murders.

"Very simply, we had a party, we invited our really good friends and then, the next day, this terrible thing happened," the former late-night host told The Hollywood Reporterin an interview published Monday, March 9. "Whatever difficulties my wife and I have experienced having our name attached to it are nothing compared to the scale of the tragedy for the family and the loss of Rob and Michele."

He added, "If you’re a known person, your name is going to get dragged into things sometimes, but it is not a hardship. There is only sadness that they’re gone."

According to reports, Rob was seen in a verbal altercation with his son at O'Brien's party. Hours later, he and Michele were found slain in their home.

Nick Reiner was arrested later that evening and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty on February 23 and is being held without bail until his preliminary hearing set for April 29.

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing six weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home. And recently, a former FBI agent speculated about a connection to an Arizona teen home invasion case.

On Jan. 31—the day when Nancy, 84, was last seen at her residence—a home invasion happened in Scottsdale, Ariz.. The suspects, 16, and 17, from California, allegedly posed as delivery drivers to gain entry to a Scottsdale home and assault its homeowners, Fox 10 reported.

After a brief police pursuit, the suspects were arrested just hours before Nancy disappeared. Both pleaded not guilty to several felony charges, including second-degree burglary, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. The actions were allegedly part of a $66 million cryptocurrency plot.

On Sunday, March 8, former FBI special agent Jennifer Coffindaffertook to X to suggest a connection between the two Arizona cases.

"MO is different, but 2 California teens were arrested for a home invasion after driving 600 miles to kidnap a family they believed to be worth millions," Coffindaffer wrote. "Yes, they demanded crypto currency. And they dressed alike in uniforms."

Rock Hall of Famer Releases Rare Solo Track as Theme to Steve Carell’s New Show

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:18am

We now know why Michael Stipeturned up at the premiere for Steve Carell’s new HBO show Rooster last week. The former R.E.M. frontman sings the show’s theme song.

“I Played the Fool (Main Title Theme)” was quietly released to streaming services on March 8, followed by an official announcement by Watertower Music on March 9. Stipe shares credit for the song with super-producer Andrew Watt, known for his work with artists ranging from the Rolling Stones, Elton John and Iggy Pop to Lady Gaga, Post Malone and Justin Bieber.

The track features Watt and several other musicians who have previously performed on his productions—Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and former Red Hot Chili Peppers member Josh Klinghoffer on guitar and piano.

“I’m thrilled to lend my voice to Rooster – as a giant fan of everyone involved, it’s a real honor to be included with ‘I Played The Fool,’” Stipe said in a statement.

“Michael Stipe is a hero of mine. A chance to write a song with him was that of a dream…He is one of the true great songwriters of this lifetime and he did what only he could do on this song. He sets ‘Rooster’ off to the moon by making you laugh and cry at the same time with the best clapping tv theme song since Friends,” added Watt.

The release of the song comes after Stipe made a rare appearance on March 7 with acclaimed actor Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy’s musical project, which is touring in honor of the 40th anniversary of R.E.M.’s fourth album, Lifes Rich Pageant. Stipe joined Shannon, Narducy and their ace band of musicians onstage at Brooklyn Steel to perform “These Days” from that album and “The Great Beyond,” the 1999 song R.E.M. wrote and released for the Andy Kaufman biopic Man on the Moon, which was named after the band’s 1982 song about the late comedian. It was the first time Stipe had performed those songs live since what turned out to be R.E.M.’s final tour in 2008.

Stipe has been slowly releasing solo tracks over the last decade, with his last release, “Give Me a Hand,” featuring Gaelynn Lea, released as part of an EarthPercent x Earth Day 2023 compilation album. He also released a cover of “Sunday Morning,” featured on the 2021 album I’ll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute to the Velvet Underground & Nico, as well as the originals “Your Capricious Soul,” “Drive to the Ocean,” and “No Time for Love Like Now” (with Big Red Machine) in 2019 and 2020, and is reportedly still at work on a long-awaited solo album.

Travis Kelce Reportedly Made the Decision on Whether or Not He'll Retire

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:17am

One of the biggest stories during this NFL offseason is: Will Travis Kelceretire?

Kelce, 36, signed a two-year, $34.25 million deal in 2024, making him an unrestricted free agent. After winning three Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs and setting countless football records to become arguably the greatest tight end in NFL history, Kelce could walk away and spend the rest of his life with his future wife,Taylor Swift.

Except, Kelce thinks he's good for at least one more season. The Athleticreported on Sunday that Kelce "is expected to return to play for a 14th season this year." However, it might not be with the Chiefs. The publication reports that Kelce's representatives are expected to talk to multiple teams in the coming weeks.

"Based on conversations with several teams, TE Travis Kelce appears motivated to return to play a 14th season," wrote The Athletic's DiannaRusssini on social media. "The Chiefs remain very much in the mix to re-sign the three-time Super Bowl champion and four-time All-Pro."

Kelce has played all 13 seasons with the Chiefs, and fans and league insiders assumed that at the end of the two-year deal, he'd either re-sign with Kansas City or retire. The Associated Press'sRobb Maaddi reported that Kelce "will not test the market," and will likely return to Kansas City for his 14th season.

Reported this at the combine: Travis Kelce is scheduled to become a free agent next month. A person with knowledge of Kelce’s thinking told The Associated Press the four-time All-Pro tight end will not test the market. If the 36-year-old Kelce returns for a 14th season, it’ll be…

— Rob Maaddi (@RobMaaddi) March 9, 2026

"As an organization, we certainly hope that he will come back," said Chiefs owner Clark Hunt at the end of January, per CBS Sports. "He had another great year. Maybe not on par with where he was four or five years ago, but he still had over 800 yards and was really one of the leaders on the offensive side of the ball for us. So there's no doubt in my mind that he can still play."

Though Kelce is closer to 40 than 30 (he turns 37 in October), he's still putting up good numbers. For a tight end, he was tied for sixth in receptions for the position last season, and was fourth in receiving yards (76 catches for 851 yards with five touchdowns in 17 games).

However, the Chiefs faceplanted after dominating the NFL for years, failing to make the playoffs for the first time in 2014.

That lackluster showing might motivate Kelce to go out on a high note. "I've talked to a few people in the facility already, you know, having the exit meetings and they know where I stand at least right now," said Travis on the Jan. 7 episode of his New Heights podcast. "here's a lot of love for the game that's still there and I don't think I'll ever lose that. I don't know. It's a tough thing to navigate.

"But at the same time," he added, "I think if my body can heal up and rest up and I can feel content that I can go out there and give it another run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat."

US Travelers Now Need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to Visit the UK

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:16am

US travelers planning a trip to the United Kingdom now have an extra step to complete before boarding their flight. The UK government has introduced a new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirement for visitors from visa-exempt countries, including the United States. The policy is part of a broader effort to modernize border security and streamline entry procedures for international travelers.

The ETA became mandatory for US travelers beginning January 8, 2025, but enforcement recently tightened. From February 25, 2026, the new system has been fully rolled out. Now, travelers must obtain approval before traveling to the UK. Without it, airlines may deny passengers boarding for flights, trains, or other transport to the country.

Instead of applying for a visa, travelers from eligible countries must complete a short online application that screens them before arrival. Once approved, the authorization is digitally linked to the traveler's passport.

Applying for an ETA is generally straightforward. Travelers submit basic personal information, passport details, and answer a few security questions through the official UK government website or mobile app. Most applicants receive a decision within minutes, although authorities recommend applying several days before departure to allow for processing time.

Related: More Countries Have Joined the Schengen Entry/Exit System: What Is the EES, and How Does It Affect American Travelers?

The authorization currently costs £16 (about $20 to $22) and allows multiple visits to the UK for up to six months at a time, according to UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). Once approved, the ETA remains valid for two years or until the traveler's passport expires, whichever comes first. If a traveler gets a new passport, they must apply for a new ETA.

With the ETA, travelers can come to the UK for up to six months for tourism, visiting family and friends, business, or short-term study. Travelers can also come to the UK for up to three months on the Creative Worker visa concession or for a permitted paid engagement. With the ETA, transit through a UK airport (for those who need to pass through border control) is also permitted.

While the process adds a small administrative step, the UK government says the system helps screen visitors before arrival and improve border efficiency. So before packing for London, Edinburgh, or anywhere else in the UK, make sure your ETA is approved. Otherwise, you may not make it past the departure gate.

'DWTS' Pros and Exes Emma Slater and Sasha Farber Joke About Their Marriage

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:15am

Dancing with the Stars professional dancers Emma Slater and Sasha Farber are still good friends three years following their split.

The two posted an Instagram reel on Sunday, March 8, where Farber is seen lip syncing, "Your ex-husband is so attractive." The camera then panned to Slater who lip synced, "But you're my ex husband."

View this post on Instagram

"If you can't handle that exes can be mature and can be friends, I'm sending you love and positive vibes but I also know it's not my problem to solve 🥰 meant with love, I've just healed moved on from that," Slater wrote on Instagram.

Farber commented on the post with just a string of emojis, "😂😂😂😂."

Slater and Farber began dating in 2011 and briefly broke up before getting engaged live on DWTS in 2016. The couple announced their split in 2023 citing disagreements surrounding having children as the primary cause.

"It’s interesting because I do want to have kids, I just don’t want to delay Sasha’s path in having kids because I know that he is ready for that," Slater said on The Viall Files in 2023. "I don’t want to talk about him too much because that’s really for him to say, but it’s about kids."

She added, "I do want kids. I don’t know what it is, I’m just figuring that out for myself. It’s not something I take lightly and I don’t want to enter into something that I’m not sure about because I would never do that."

Slater and Farber's divorce was finalized in 2024 and shortly after that Slater publicly revealed her relationship with fellow DWTS professional dancer Alan Bersten.

Farber has been supportive of Slater and Bersten's relationship and when asked if it's awkward working with the couple, Farber shared on TikTok, "No, not at all. Definitely not awkward. I’m really happy for her and Alan and I wish them nothing but the best. That’s all I can say."

1971 Soft Rock Classic Was a No. 1 Hit That Launched a Solo Career

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 10:07am

Sometimes, the unintentional songs become the most famous, with a 1971 hit by Rod Stewart having initially been a throwaway track. "Maggie May" was released in July of that year and helped skyrocket the singer's solo career, becoming his biggest of all time.

Written by Stewart and Martin Quittenton, the song was released as part of his third studio album, Every Picture Tells a Story. The song wasn't meant to be a hit or as one of the main tracks of the album, and instead was recorded in two takes and placed as the B-side to "Reason to Believe."

When radio stations began playing Stewart's album, they ended up preferring the sound of "Maggie May," and no one expected it to become a No. 1 hit. The song ended up making Stewart a household name and launching his solo career.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Stewart looked back at the creation of the song, having created the "vocal sketch" and "emotional connection" before writing down lyrics. He explains having originally begun singing the folk song "Maggie Mae" before the "idea of a hooker popped into my head, then the jazz festival when I was 16, and then losing my virginity."

Stewart went on to say that the song was never intended to be released because it was "too unusual" and "the song ran longer than five minutes, and it didn’t have a catchy chorus. But as we finished up the album, we found we were a song short. So we added 'Maggie May,' since it was already produced."

"Maggie May" ended up hitting No.1 on multiple charts across Europe and landed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks. It also became 2x Platinum by the RIAA. That's not all, the song's fame also led it to be ranked at No. 130 in Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Wendy’s Frosty Key Tags Are Back—How to Score Free Frostys All Year

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 9:57am

A free Wendy's Frosty could be in your future.

It's officially the moment fans have been waiting for: The fan-favorite fast-food chain is bringing back its annual Frosty Key Tag event that offers a year's worth of Frostys for basically the price of one, so fans can score free Frostys—but only if they act fast.

To make the deal even sweeter, the Wendy's Frosty Key Tags directly support the burger joint's charitable efforts to help find permanent homes for kids in foster care across the country.

Wendy's Frosty Key Tags Officially Return for 2026

Those in possession of a Wendy's Frosty Key Tag can unlock a free Jr. Frosty every day with any purchase in the U.S., even if it's just fries or a drink (though we highly recommend giving Wendy's new Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger and its Chicken Tenders Ranch Wrap a try, at least once) through the end of the year simply by showing the key tag. Fans in Canada can also enjoy the deal and score a free Jr. Frosty treat with the purchase of a combo or large salad.

Related: Wendy’s to Revive This Popular Sauce in 2026: ‘Not a Drill’

From what Parade understands, the only limitations for the free Frosty are its size (offer is valid for a free Jr. Frosty) and when customers can use it (now through Thursday, Dec. 31). Other than that, fans are able to pick and choose what time of day they enjoy it, what flavor they're enjoying (right now, Wendy's churning up its Thin Mint-flavored Frosty treats in addition to the classic chocolate soft-serve) and how often they're scoring the free treat.

Wendy's

Even better, 90 percent of the proceeds raised from the sale of the limited-edition Key Tags go to support the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, according to Wendy's. The charity has hired, trained, and supported Wendy's Wonderful Kids recruiters since it was established in 1992. Last year, the foundation celebrated finding permanent families for 15,000 kids in foster care across the U.S. and Canada.

Wendy's Frosty Key Tags can be purchased at participating locations across the country (and in Canada) for $3 each. They can also be purchased online or in the app digitally (or for in-store pickup) and fans in the U.S. can order them in bulk via the foundation website—but don't wait!

According to the fast-food giant, the physical 2026 Frosty Key Tags will be available for the next three weeks or so, with the company suggesting that the offer will only be valid through Sunday, April 5, or as long as supplies last.

To find a Wendy's location near you or order a Frosty Key Tag, visit the brand's official website.
