There's a cushioned footbed for long-lasting comfort and adjustable leather straps that you can alter to your foot size, thanks to the classic hook-and-loop closures. We love that there's a back strap around the heel that will keep your foot in place while walking.

One shopper said that the sandals are actually better than other well known sandal brands, because they don't rub your foot in the wrong places. Other reviewers described the footwear as "cute," "trendy," "wonderful," and "fantastic." One caveat about these shoes is that the bottoms are a bit heavy, but one customer said that despite that, the traction is "good" and the arched footbed is "quite comfy."

When life feels especially stressful and overwhelming, many of us automatically try to zone out and dissociate. Whether that means absent-mindedly scrolling on our phones, taking a long shower or simply staring at a blank wall, going on emotional "autopilot" can sometimes be a distraction tactic from our anxieties and concerns. But it's not a long-term solution.

Psychotherapist and meditationteacherMargaret Cullen, author of Quiet Strength: Find Peace, Feel Alive, and Love Boundlessly Through the Power of Equanimity (released March 10), says there's another way to go through the day—which involves facing and acknowledging these tricky feelings.

"Pause. Turn towards your experience rather than towards a distraction," Cullen tells Parade. "There’s so much power in simply being with things as they are. It is simple, and may seem obvious, but not easy."

Taking the intentional pause might feel countercultural at this point. After all, in this digital age, we have distractions that "serve" us everywhere we look—personalized ads and algorithms, the ability to reach out to friends and family at the touch of a button for instant validation and more.

But that pause is significant.

"This is the first step in deconditioning habits and could be the difference between a highly regretful remark or behavior and a peaceful heart," Cullen explains.

After all, when we're jumping from one distraction to the next, we're opening ourselves up to more reactive—instead of introspective—behaviors. And this is not only the case with in-person interactions, but online as well. Here, Cullen shares the common social media mistake she wishes everyone would stop making, and why she believes equanimity is the answer instead.

The Common Mistake To Stop Making on Social Media, According to a Psychotherapist

It's important to stop mindlessly opening up TikTok or Instagram and scrolling simply because it's become a force of habit.

"When you feel the urge to reach for social media, pause just long enough to notice what you’re feeling," Cullen says. "Often, there is some form of discomfort beneath the impulse— boredom, restlessness, physical unease, a difficult memory, anxiety about what lies ahead. Stay with that feeling for a moment, with kindness and curiosity. In doing so, you begin to decondition the habit of mainlining social media, you expand your capacity to be with discomfort and you create the conditions for greater equanimity."

But what is equanimity, exactly?

Equanimity's Meaning

"Equanimity comes from two Latin roots: aequus, meaning balanced, and animus, meaning mind or spirit," Cullen shares. "It refers to a dynamic inner balance. Equanimity does not mean shutting down feelings. It means having the space and strength to experience them with steadiness and grace."

So, whether you're scrolling social media, walking into a conference room or meeting your family for dinner, experiencing "equanimity" means you're "keeping your wits about you" and feeling calm or capable, instead of anxious or reactive.

Cullen reveals some other simple ways of looking at it.

"Equanimity is when you can ride the waves of change, like a surfer or someone riding a horse," she tells Parade. "If something really good happens, you feel happy but not so excited that you lose control. If something upsetting happens, you feel sad or mad, but you don’t fall apart. It’s also like being a mountain. The weather changes. Sun, wind, rain, snow.
The mountain stays steady. Equanimity means your heart stays steady, too."

Why It's Easy To Lean Toward Outrage on Social Media (and In Real Life)

"Social media algorithms are expertly designed to amplify outrage," Cullen explains. "Strong emotional reactions capture attention in an attention economy, and outrage reliably generates engagement. But there are real costs. Outrage is a form of anger, and like other forms of anger, it energizes us. We tend to get attached to whatever gives us that surge of energy. The problem is that this is an expensive kind of fuel. It burns hot and is not sustainable."

That's one of the reasons why Cullen recommends checking in with your feelings before clicking through IG Stories or Facebook.

"Anger, especially outrage, also narrows our thinking. It gates cognition," she says.

But that doesn't mean that the answer is apathy.

"Many people mistake equanimity for indifference or passivity," she explains. "They worry that without outrage they will lose their effectiveness or moral clarity. In truth, the opposite is often the case. Outrage and melodrama drain the very energy that could be directed toward thoughtful, creative and genuinely constructive engagement."

"Equanimity is not about caring less," Cullen continues. "It is about caring deeply while being less attached and less reactive. When care is absent, that is not equanimity. True equanimity is actually an expression of love. It is not about shrinking or suppressing feelings. It is about creating more space around them."

7 Ways To Cultivate Equanimity Instead of Outrage1. Utilize humor

"Humor loosens the grip of intensity and reminds you that experience is often more fluid than it first appears," Cullen says. "Even a gentle smile can interrupt reactivity and restore perspective, helping you relate to what is happening with more lightness and flexibility."

2. Prioritize cognitive shifts

"Intentionally widening your frame of reference changes how strongly events feel," she explains. "Seeing a moment through the eyes of someone loving and wise, imagining how it will look to your future self; or viewing it from the vast perspective of the moon softens urgency and restores proportion."

3. Say the Serenity Prayer

"The Serenity Prayer offers a simple structure for wise discernment: what can be changed, what cannot and the wisdom to know the difference," Cullen shares. "Returning to this reflection helps conserve energy, directing effort where it is useful and releasing what is not within your control."

4. Remember it’s not always about you

"Notice how quickly the mind turns events into something personal—about you, against you or because of you," she points out. "What if it actually wasn’t about you? When you stop taking everything so personally, experience opens up, you suffer less and find greater balance and ease."

5. Move deliberately

"Do a body practice that promotes balance like Tai Chi, Chi Gung or Kaiut yoga," Cullen suggests. "Practices that cultivate physical balance train the nervous system toward steadiness. Slow, deliberate movement integrates breath, posture and attention, helping the body learn regulation directly rather than through thought alone."

6. Meditate

"Meditation strengthens the capacity to observe thoughts, emotions and sensations without immediately reacting," she says. "Over time, this repeated practice builds familiarity with change itself, allowing experience to unfold without being swept away by it."

7. Ask yourself, “Is this really true?”

"Questioning your immediate interpretations interrupts automatic belief in the mind’s first story," Cullen explains. "This simple inquiry creates space for nuance, alternative explanations and a more grounded response."

Benefits of Leaning Into Equanimity

"Equanimity changes how we relate to stress, emotion and uncertainty at a fundamental level," Cullen tells Parade. Here are just a handful of the benefits it provides:

Psychological benefits

"Psychologically, it lowers emotional reactivity and shortens recovery time after upset," she says. "Research in mindfulness and emotion regulation shows that higher equanimity is associated with reduced anxiety, depression and rumination."

Physiological benefits

"Equanimity is linked to lower chronic stress activation, healthier cortisol patterns, reduced cardiovascular strain during emotional challenges and improved sleep through decreased hyperarousal," Cullen says. "The body functions more efficiently when the mind is less reactive."

Interpersonal benefits

"Equanimity reduces defensiveness and reactive conflict," she explains. "It allows empathy to be present without emotional overwhelm. Others often experience a person with equanimity as steady and trustworthy because reactions are measured rather than extreme."

Behavioral benefits

"Equanimity supports better decision making, especially in uncertain conditions," Cullen reveals. "It reduces impulsivity and compulsive behavior, and it helps sustain motivation without burnout. Engagement can remain strong without becoming consuming."

She explains that equanimity "improves emotional regulation, stress physiology, relationships, decision quality and overall well being by stabilizing how the mind responds to changing experience."

Midge Ure is back and ready to release his first album of new material in 12 years.

The frontman of British new wave favorites Ultravox and co-writer and producer of Band Aid’s iconic 1984 charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” had been concentrating on touring in recent years until he faced an undisclosed health issue that required “urgent treatment” last summer and fall.

Now, Ure is ready to release A Man of Two Worlds on May 8. It’s his first album of new material since 2014’s Fragile. He plans to back the album with a tour that kicks off on the day of the album’s release in Bath, England, with stops throughout the U.K. as well as in Germany, Austria, Australia, and New Zealand, and returns for additional dates in the U.K. before it wraps on Nov. 30 in Guildford, U.K.

A Man of Two Worlds is broken up into two distinct parts. The first half, World One: Music, features eight instrumental pieces, while the second part, World Two: Songs, includes eight tracks with vocals. Ure will extend that concept to his live performances on his upcoming tour.

“Almost every album I’ve made over the past 40+ years has featured at least one instrumental track. For this album I wanted to explore this further, showing two sides of what I do. The ‘Man of Two Worlds’ Tour will reflect this idea, combining instrumentals I have done over the years with songs, album tracks and fan favorites side by side taking the audience on a journey,” he said in a statement.

The album will be released digitally, as well as in two-CD and two-LP black vinyl editions, as well as a limited-edition colored vinyl version.

Aside from his work with Ultravox and Band Aid, Ure’s storied career includes a stint in the band Slik during the glam rock era, followed by joining future Sex Pistol Glen Matlock in the proto-punk band the Rich Kids. He also formed Visage along with Steve Strange and other notable musicians, including John McGeoch, Dave Formula and Barry Adamson from Magazine. Following the departure of Gary Moore, Ure also toured with legendary rock act Thin Lizzy for a stretch.

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has opened up about a surprising source of motivation behind his latest career decision: his fiancée, global pop icon Taylor Swift.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the 36-year-old tight end revealed that watching Swift continue to thrive in her career played a big part in inspiring him to return for another NFL season. 

Kelce recently agreed to a new one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, ending speculation that he might retire after a difficult 2025 campaign.

Kelce admitted that the pop superstar’s work ethic and passion pushed him to rethink stepping away from football.

“We share the same love for what we do,” Kelce said. “Fortunately we've had this desire since we were kids in our selective professions.”

The veteran tight end explained that seeing Swift constantly create new music and remain passionate about her craft reminded him of why he fell in love with football in the first place.

“It's amazing to see her keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding new melodies,” Kelce added. “And on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does.”

For Kelce, that dedication became a powerful motivator while he was weighing the future of his own career.

“Of course that's motivating,” he continued. “That's motivating for anybody to see, let alone my fiancée, knowing that I'm going through something where I'm trying to figure out exactly what the future holds for me.”

Travis Kelce’s NFL Return

Kelce’s decision comes after a challenging season for the Chiefs in 2025. The team failed to reach the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade, and Kelce posted some of the lowest numbers of his career.

After the season ended, retirement rumors quickly spread around the NFL. But Kelce said his decision process was actually quick once he stepped back and thought things through.

“It was pretty short and brief,” Kelce explained. “The Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it.”

He added that taking time to reflect after the season helped him evaluate how he truly felt about continuing to play.

“You always need to take a step back, breathe, let the emotions of the season settle down and see where the body is and things like that,” Kelce said.

In the end, his love for the game won out.

“But man, I'm still in love with this game,” he said. “I still love going to work, putting on the pads, grinding it out and playing the game.”

Kelce also made it clear that returning to Kansas City felt like the best path forward.

“My best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs yet again and running this thing back with Patrick Mahomes and Coach Reid.”

Kelce’s return gives Kansas City a major boost as the team looks to recover from its disappointing season. The tight end is preparing for his 14th year in the NFL, and he appears energized by the idea of helping the Chiefs reclaim their place among the league’s top teams.

Andre Agassi is hopping on the latest Instagram trend, and fans are loving it.

In a post shared on Tuesday, the tennis legend participated in the trend where users, and a lot of celebs, are sharing photos of themselves in the 90s with the text, "Dad, what were you like in the 90s?"

"What a time," he captioned the post, which featured several vintage photos of him on the tennis court, while sporting long blonde hair.

Agassi, 55, who was at the height of his tennis career at the time, having scored eight Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal, was also noted as a style icon of the decade.

Ever since its release, fans have raved over the soda—as well as the Freeze flavor that accompanied it—calling it "delicious" and an "amazing" addition. Actually, the only complaint was its lack of sugar-free options, but all of that changes really soon.

Not only that, but that controversial Baja Blast Pie that sold out in record time? Yeah, it's also getting a revival with the arrival of the new Baja Blast Midnight Pie, set to debut later this year. Like the soda that inspired it, the Baja Blast Midnight Pie is deep purple in hue and features a pudding-like texture in a crunchy, crispy crust.

Though the soft drink itself is a lime-passion fruit mixture, when Parade editors got a first slice of the pie at the third annual Live Mas Live event held at the Hollywood Palladium last week, we found the dessert to taste more like a grape soda-flavored pie than one that's supposedly passion fruit. It's certainly an interesting follow-up to the original Baja Blast pie and we have a feeling this one will also sell out in record time, after all, grape-flavored snacks and drinks are making a pretty big comeback (maybe not as big as '80s hair, but it's popping up everywhere).

Taco Bell hinted that the pie will be released ahead of the winter holidays, so fans have plenty of time to decide whether it's worth braving the crowds or not.

In addition to the soda and the pie, the fast-food chain also unveiled over a dozen new menu innovations that it will roll out this year (though it didn't say when), and because Taco Bell knows its fans aren't the most patient, it recently dropped a new set of dessert empanadas: Chocolate Fudge and Salted Caramel, both available now.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos’ shocking decision to call off their wedding may have been due to Prescott's infidelity.

According to a report published by Page Six on Tuesday, Mar. 10, Ramos called off the wedding after accusing Prescott of “ongoing infidelity issues."

A source familiar with the situation told the outlet that Ramos believes Prescott had a history of communicating with other women online during their relationship. The source also claims Ramos stayed with him hoping he would clean up his act for the sake of their family.

The couple shares two daughters: Margaret Jane Rose, 2, and Aurora Rayne, 10 months. 

The publications alleges the couple had a "serious" conversation about Prescott's alleged infidelity in January ahead of their wedding, which was set to take place in Lake Como, Italy on April 10.

The source says that during a recent joint bachelor-bachelorette party in the Bahamas, Ramos and Prescott stayed behind after their friends left, and that's when she found out the NFL star was allegedly using "incognito" social media profiles to send "inappropriate messages to multiple women and ex-flings."

It also been rumored that a “blowup argument” occurred at the pair’s joint bachelor and bachelorette parties, which has not been confirmed.

Ramos and Prescott reportedly told wedding guests their nuptials were canceled in an email sent on Monday, Mar. 9.

Ramos’ representative later confirmed the split to People, saying that Ramos and Prescott are “both heartbroken that they’re not getting married,” noting, “there wasn’t any rockiness in the lead up, and there was no big argument or blow up. It was a mutual decision.”

“They love their girls, and they’re committed to raising their children together in the most loving and positive way,” the rep added. “It’s still shocking for them since this happened so recently, and they ask for privacy while they sort everything out.”

There has also been speculation online that the pair called it quits after Ramos refused to sign a prenup, a rumor which Ramos has vehemently denied.

In 2024, Prescott signed a massive four-year, $240 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys. The deal included an $80 million signing bonus and $231 million in total guarantees, with an average annual salary of $60 million.

Representatives for Prescott and Ramos did not respond to Parade's request for comment.

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer says authorities already have what she considers the most promising lead in the ongoing investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Authorities believe that Guthrie, 84, may have been abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night on Sunday, Feb. 1. Now, more than one month into the investigation, Guthrie's whereabouts are still unknown.

In a recent interview with Newsweek, Coffindaffer spoke about what she thinks will ultimately break this case wide open.

“I think the number one way this case is going to be solved, in my opinion, is somebody coming forward that knows him,” Coffindaffer told Newsweek. "You know, a girlfriend that gets angry at him or a family member that finds some sort of moral compass or wants that $1.2 million and finds that is worth it to go ahead and betray their loved one."

Later in the interview, Coffindaffer said that she believes the pending DNA results "could take such a long time to cross-reference," making that route less likely when it comes to solving this case.

"I think that that is a lesser possibility than somebody coming forward and recognizing him," she reiterated, adding, "You have the ring, you had the tattoo, you have the clothing, you have the eyebrows, you have the mustache, somebody knows who he is. That's their best lead, it really is. Somebody is going to come forward. It's just how long is that going to take."

Coffindaffer isn't the only person who feels this way, either. In an exclusive with Parade, retired Pima County SWAT commander Bob Krygier had a similar take.

"One...very viable option is that someone is going to call in and say exactly who was at that front door," Krygier told me. "I’ve said for weeks that someone knows who that person is. Or at least has a good idea who it might be. At some point hopefully being a good person will win out and they will call the tip lines that are available."

The Pima County Sheriff's Department hasn't done a press conference in weeks. While some people feel the case is going cold, others believe that authorities may be closer to finding out who is responsible for Guthrie's disappearance.

In 1979, Chuck Brown released the song that would become the defining anthem of his career.

His single "Bustin' Loose," recorded with Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers, quickly caught the attention of audiences with its irresistible groove and high-energy rhythm.

The track climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles, becoming Brown's biggest hit and helping introduce a wider audience to the emerging go-go music sound coming out of Washington, D.C.

Built around driving percussion, call-and-response vocals and an extended dance groove, "Bustin' Loose" captured the essence of go-go music, a style that emphasizes live instrumentation, nonstop rhythm and crowd interaction. Brown's charismatic delivery and the band's tight musicianship made the track a standout on radio and dance floors alike.

Often referred to as the "Godfather of Go-Go," Brown played a crucial role in shaping and popularizing the genre during the 1970s and 1980s. His innovative approach to funk placed heavy emphasis on percussion and continuous grooves designed to keep audiences dancing throughout live performances.

In a 2011 interview for PBS, Brown was asked to explain what go-go music is and how it started, to which he replied, "It’s just another form of funky music with crowd response. We have a little Latin flavor to it, a little African flavor to it."

"They had go-go girls, go-go clubs, but no go-go music. So that’s how it came about. That’s why I started calling it go-go music," he went on to explain. "The first record that I cut was 'We the People.' I was trying to get my own sound then. But it became a sound for the town after we did 'Bustin' Loose" and that was it. And when I was doing 'Wind Me Up Chuck!' every time we got to the end of the song, they started hollering 'Wind Me Chuck, do it again, Chuck, do it again!' So we played the same song about an hour, about four times in a row. I said, 'This thing is going and going.' And I started calling it go-go. That's all it is."

"Bustin' Loose" remains the song most closely associated with Brown and is widely considered the signature recording of the go-go movement. The track later gained renewed popularity when it was featured in the 1988 comedy film Scrooged, introducing it to a new generation of listeners.

In 2002, the song was interpolated in Nelly's chart-topping hit "Hot in Herre," which incorporated the famous "bustin' loose" chant from Chuck Brown's original recording. The connection helped introduce Brown's pioneering go-go sound to a new generation of listeners more than two decades after the song first topped the charts.

More than 40 years later, "Bustin’ Loose" still captures the vibrant energy of the city that inspired it—and stands as a lasting tribute to Chuck Brown's pioneering influence on funk and go-go music.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is addressing discrepancies in Sheriff Chris Nanos’ resume as he leads the search for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.

“The Pima County Sheriff’s Department recently identified two clerical errors in Sheriff Chris Nanos’ publicly posted resume. Both date discrepancies were administrative in nature and were not intended to mislead or misrepresent Sheriff Nanos’ work history,” the sheriff’s department said to Us Weekly in a statement on Tuesday, Mar. 10.

The statement comes one day after a local newspaper, The Arizona Republic, reported that Nanos resigned in lieu of termination from the El Paso Police Department in 1982. In Nanos' resume posted to the sheriff's department website, it states he worked at the police department until 1984.

According to records cited by The Arizona Republic, Nanos resigned from the El Paso Police Department after six years to avoid termination after a series of disciplinary issues, including insubordination, excessive force, off-duty gambling and tardiness.

The outlet also noted that during his time with the department, Nanos was named officer of the year for saving his partner's life and made headlines for his risky work as a police decoy.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department also clarified to Us Weekly on Mar. 10 that Nanos “served with the El Paso Police Department from 1976 to 1982. His service with El Paso PD concluded in 1982, not 1984 as previously stated. Additionally, Sheriff Nanos was promoted to the rank of captain in 2007, not 2009.”

“These administrative errors have been corrected,” the department said, before sharing a link to Nanos’ updated resume on their website.

“Sheriff Nanos has dedicated more than four decades to law enforcement and public service," the statement concluded. "Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to professionalism, accountability and the safety of the communities he serves. As Sheriff of Pima County, he continues to lead the department with experience, integrity and a clear focus on protecting the residents of Pima County.”

Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Feb. 1. The FBI urges anyone with tips or leads to call 1-800-CALL-FBI in addition to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office number, 520-351-4900. A $1 million reward is currently being offered for information leading to the safe return or recovery of Nancy.

A superstar American Idol alum got a key second chance on this date 22 years ago. Jennifer Hudson competed on Season 3 of American Idol, and to the shock of many, she initially did not make the Top 12. However, a Wild Card opportunity presented itself, and it changed everything for Hudson.

During the Wild Card Round on American Idol in Season 3, 12 singers were brought back to get another shot. During the episode that aired on March 9, 2004, four of the 12 were eliminated without the opportunity to perform.

The remaining eight singers left it all on the stage in hopes of earning one of four Wild Card spots. Hudson sang last, performing the Four Tops song, "I Believe in You and Me."

Judge Randy Jackson declared it was the best performance of the night, and Paula Abdul gushed over Hudson's voice and ability to tell stories. Simon Cowell noted he had always loved Hudson's voice, so he expected her to do well. He also noted she had a "fantastic personality," but gave her some ribbing about her outfit choice.

On March 10, 2004, the four Wild Card recipients were determined. Hudson was the first of the four to get the good news. Jackson said the decision had been a tough one, but "Against all odds, I have chosen Jennifer Hudson," he said.

Season 3 of American Idol was jam-packed with talent. During Week 7, which aired on April 21, Hudson was eliminated after singing Barry Manilow's "Weekend in New England."

Hudson's Oscar win came in 2007, when she won in the Best Supporting Actress category for Dreamgirls. In addition, in 2022, Hudson earned an Emmy as a co-producer for A Strange Loop, which earned Best Musical.

Twenty years after her elimination, Hudson reflected on it in a post on her Instagram page. She wrote, "On this day in 2004, I was eliminated from American Idol! But God turned it around for my good! From Idol to EGOT baby!!! 20 years later, and now back on TV with my own show." Hudson's daytime talk show was recently renewed for a fifth season.

She continued, "Never give up on your dreams, yall! If I can do it, so can u! If it's not worth working hard for, it's not worth it at all! Remember nobody knows your potential the way you do. Just keep the faith, keep believing, and keep going!!!"

Add in grandparenthood, and Mrs. Jackson has 27 grandchildren, including Michael Jackson's three children—Prince Jackson, 29, Paris Jackson, 27, and Bigi Jackson, 23—who are adults now but for whom she was granted guardianship after his untimely death.

Kym Karath was only five years old when she rose to stardom as Gretl, the youngest member of the Von Trapp children in the iconic movie musical The Sound of Music. But at 67, the former actress is absolutely stunning.

Karath, who starred alongside Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer in the iconic 1965 musical drama film, shared an incredible before-and-after photo that shows her as a five-year-old on the set of the beloved film getting prepped in the wardrobe department.

"This was my favorite costume from The Sound of Music," Karath captioned the shot.

In the present-day photo, which was taken 62 years later, Karath is more stunning than ever. With icy blonde hair, the classic beauty could still stop fans in their tracks on the movie screen.

Why Did Kym Karath Stop Acting?

In a revealing interview with the UK’s Times, Karath revealed the devastating reason she decided to quit acting for some time in the years following the film’s tremendous success.

While she struggled in school due to bullying, Karath found success on popular TV series like Lassie, Peyton Place,and The Brady Bunch. But as she got older, the dark side of Hollywood reared its ugly head.

“After I did Brady Bunch, I was 13 going on 18, in terms of looking very physically mature. There were some very scary offers and pedophile-ish people who were circulating,” said Karath, who alleged that she was raped at 15 by a film producer, according to the Times piece. “I heard some stories from somebody who was in a position to know — there were other young people.”

Karath said she felt like she couldn’t tell anyone what had happened.

“But my parents kind of figured out what happened,” she continued. “I couldn’t say much to them because I was afraid my father would go and literally murder the guy and I didn’t want my dad to go to jail.”

Instead, her parents determined, “No more acting, just focus on school.”

Looking back, she realized, “It was the safe thing to do. It was really a terrible, frightening period of time.”

She went on to graduate from the University of Southern California.

What Is Kym Karath Up To These Days?

When Karath’s son Eric was three weeks old, he contracted viral meningitis and was left severely brain-damaged.

“I have not gone back to acting quite honestly because my son is really the center of my life,” Karath said. “He lives with me, he’s 34 and needs me. I can’t drop everything to go to auditions.”

She founded the Aurelia Foundation and Creative Steps Program for young adults with disabilities. Back in 2013, Karath told Parade that she also serves as an advocate for other parents navigating the journey.

“My son has special needs, so I was needed in a way I never expected to be needed and …you just rise to the occasion,” Karath explained.

In January 1961, a young folk troubadour left his childhood home in Minnesota for the mean streets of New York City to chase a career in music. Finding success in the folk clubs lining Greenwich Village, Bob Dylan began his rise as the nascent voice of a generation.

Signing with Columbia Records that same year, Dylan released his debut eponymous album in 1962, with his two original compositions, “Song to Woody” and “Talkin’ New York,” becoming standout tracks. It would take another three years, though, for the singer to break into Billboard’s Top 40.

The song that achieved the feat? “Subterranean Homesick Blues,” Dylan’s landmark 1965 hit that signaled the musician’s transition from acoustic folk to electric folk rock. 

The lead song off his fifth studio album, Bringing It All Back Home, “Subterranean Homesick Blues” was one of Dylan’s first songs to feature electric guitar. Following the artist's famous performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival when he abandoned his acoustic folk rock roots, “went electric,” and soured a crowd of roughly 17,000 fans, Bringing It All Back Home served as the definitive shift to a new electric era. 

Though the song never hit No. 1, it did break into the Top 40, peaking at No. 39 in the U.S. A massive feat for the singer, the song performed even better in the United Kingdom, peaking at No. 9. It was also ranked No. 187 on Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time." But regardless of the number flanking its title, the song remains a trailblazing track from a trailblazing artist. 

According to American Songwriter, “Not only was [‘Subterranean Homesick Blues’] the song with which a scruffy East Greenwich folky hitched his caboose to rock’s throttle, delivering his first electric performance, but it’s associated with what’s generally accepted as the world’s first rock video.”

Filmed by D.A. Pennebaker for his tour documentary,Don’t Look Back, the music video features Dylan turning note cards displaying partial lyrics with beat poet Allen Ginsburg and record producer Bob Neuwirth chatting it up in the background. 

The song, itself, was performed for the record in a single take. Per AS, Dylan was inspired by the state of society at the time, telling the Los Angeles Times in 2004, “I’m always trying to stay right square in the moment. I don’t want to get nostalgic or narcissistic as a writer or a person. I think successful people don’t dwell in the past. I think only losers do.”

For the song, Dylan’s band included John Hammond Jr. and Bruce Langhorne on electric guitar, Bobby Gregg on the drums, and Bill Lee, father of filmmaker Spike Lee, on the bass. Channeling the era’s beat poets, rock ‘n’ roll legend Chuck Berry, and folk icon Woodie Guthrie, Dylan unleashed his signature rapid-fire rhyme and metaphorical-dense narrative for a hit that would cement its place in music history.

Having a little interest in seeing the homes where celebrities live their everyday lives is basic human nature. We see their faces or hear their names regularly, so of course we want to see the kitchens where they make coffee or the living rooms where they host friends. As a people, we're just naturally curious. But sometimes the places they choose to escape to can be even more revealing about their personalities. A retreat home isn't about proximity to work or convenience—it's about where someone feels truly relaxed.

Those getaway spaces tend to say a lot about what brings a person peace. Maybe it's a sweeping ocean view, a breezy lanai ala Golden Girls where mornings start with coffee or a secluded garden where the pace of the day slows down. The little luxuries matter too—sunsets from the porch, the sound of waves nearby or a pool that feels like your own private oasis.

That's part of what makes these homes so interesting to explore. They offer a glimpse into the quieter moments behind a very public life. And when a retreat once owned by someone like Lisa Marie Presley hits the market, it's hard not to be curious about the peaceful corner of the world she chose to unwind in.

According to Robb Report, Presley owned the property known as Hale Ohi'a from 2010 through 2015 (she passed away in 2023). It's a sprawling 8,178-square-foot estate that enjoys sweeping ocean views, waterfalls and koi ponds. Just one look at the photos above, and you can see why the late musician was drawn to the home in the first place.

What Else Is Special About Hale Ohi'a?

Aside from its previous ties to Presley, the luxurious home sits adjacent to the prestigious Mauna Lani resort on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. In fact, it actually sits along the 12th fairway of the resort's golf course. Even better, whomever purchases the home is actually granted access to Mauna Lani Beach Club, which is typically only permitted to its guests and residents.

While that sounds absolutely lovely, it's hard to imagine anyone wanting to leave the confines of a private oasis like Hale Ohi'a. With six bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms, there's plenty of places for even a large group to spread out for a little personal quiet time—no beach resort needed.

On March 9, Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham attended a screening of her new film, Reminders of Him, at the Hollywood Legion Theater. Despite it being 26 years since Graham graced our TV screens as the effervescent, feisty mom Lorelai Gilmore to Alexis Bledel's Rory, it could've just been yesterday. Graham looked every bit the stunning but relatable Lorelai as she posed with Bradley Whitford, country music starLainey Wilson, and the rest of the cast.

Graham wore a floor length, high-necked, navy sequined gown. As she stood looking elegant and svelte in her strappy platform wedges, her smile and eyes sparkled just as much as her dress. It can't possibly be nearly three decades since she played half of everyone's favorite TV mother-daughter duo.

The Parenthood star's character in Reminders of Him is also a mother, but not the cool, single mom we've come to love her as through her two major TV roles. The film is adapted from Colleen Hoover's book of the the same name. It focuses on Kenna (Maika Monroe), a woman who is released from prison after serving seven years. She was convicted of involuntary manslaughter after a car accident in which her boyfriend, Scotty (Rudy Pankow), was killed.

Kenna ends up discovering she's pregnant, and gives birth in prison to a daughter, Diem. Scotty's parents, Grace (Graham) and Patrick (Whitford), get custody and raise their grandchild. They also get a restraining order against Kenna, refusing to let her have anything to do with Diem. Grace is about as different from Sarah Braverman and Loralei Gilmore as you can get.

"It’s a dramatic piece and quite a dramatic role," Graham told Red Magazine. "Grace has taken a hard line on how she views what happened to her son, and feels very protective of her family."

"I can't speak to why they thought of me for the part," she added. "But I always try to find the warmth and the humanity in everything I do."

For fans always hoping for more Gilmore Girls, the news that she and the show's creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, are writing a behind-the-scenes book about the show is very welcome news. However, as far as Graham is concerned, there will always be room in her life for more Gilmore Girls.

"If there was more Lorelai [Gilmore] to do, I would do it," she confessed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nowadays, it's not very often that an episode of a TV show gets outright banned...but back in the days when network television reigned supreme, bans were more common than you might think. And it's not like episodes were getting yanked from the airwaves for truly offensive content most of the time, either. In fact, some shows were censored for absolutely ridiculous reasons.

A perfect example? The 1996 episode of Friends titled "The One with the Lesbian Wedding," which featured Ross's (David Schwimmer) ex-wife Carol (Jane Sibbett) marrying her girlfriend, Susan (Jessica Hecht), and marked the first lesbian wedding on primetime TV.

As TVLine reported, while most TV stations across the country didn't have a problem airing the episode, some did object...loudly.

Both KJAC in Port Arthur, Texas, and WLIO in Lima, Ohio, refused to air the episode, with KJAC station manager Ron Kelly explaining, "We do not believe the episode of Friends meets the prevailing standards of good taste in our community."

This absurd objection was rightfully slammed by GLAAD. As managing director William Waybourn put it, the bans sent "a chilling message to America that there's something wrong with lesbian and gay couples publicly stating their commitments to one another."

All the faux-moralistic outrage over "good taste" was thankfully quick to fizzle out, and overall, there wasn't as much backlash as NBC anticipated. As Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman told The Hollywood Reporter years later, the network "put 104 operators on for fear of getting a million phone calls. They got two."

Of course, 30 years later, "The One with the Lesbian Wedding" is considered a classic.
