30 Years Before John F. Kennedy Jr.’s Fatal Crash, Another Kennedy Tragedy Struck on Martha’s Vineyard

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 12:27pm

Nearly 30 years before John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife Carolyn Bessette, and her sisterLauren died in a tragic plane crash off Martha’s Vineyard, the Kennedy family faced another devastating tragedy in the same waters.

On July 18, 1969, John's uncle, Edward "Ted" Kennedy, a senator who at the time was considered to be a front-runner for the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination, was involved in a car accident on Chappaquiddick Island, a small island only a stone's throw from mainland Martha's Vineyard, that left one person dead. Ted and his cousin Joe Gargan hosted a party at their rented home on Chappaquiddick and guests included 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne, who had worked for Ted's brother, Robert F. Kennedy's 1968 presidential campaign.

Around 11 p.m., Ted agreed to drive Mary Jo to the dock so she could catch the commuter ferry back to Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard. He later reported that while traveling on the unpaved Dike Road, he missed the narrow bridge and drove the car into Poucha Pond, claiming it was a wrong turn.

Ted escaped the submerged car and said he and two friends made several unsuccessful attempts to rescue Mary Jo. He later swam back to Edgartown, returned to his hotel, changed clothes and briefly spoke with the innkeeper around 2:25 a.m.

Questions arose when it emerged that Ted and Mary Jo knew the road. She left her purse and key behind, and a police officer reported seeing Ted’s car speeding toward the bridge after the ferry had stopped running.

The following morning Ted returned to Chappaquiddick before reporting the incident to the Edgartown police, which is when he shared his involvement. He later pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and received a two-month suspended sentence. His driver's license was also suspended for a year.

Forensic experts have speculated that if Ted had promptly been able to pull Mary Jo from the wreckage, she may have lived. John Farrar, who was part of the dive team that searched for Mary Jo said, "I know she suffocated when her oxygen ran out," he said in the book, Senatorial Privilege: The Chappaquiddick Cover-Up. "She didn't drown." Ted and the Kennedy family faced brutal criticism for the light sentence Ted received in his involvement. He later wrote about how the tragedy continued to haunt him.

"That night on Chappaquiddick Island ended in a horrible tragedy that haunts me every day of my life," he wrote in his 2009 autobiography True Compass. "I had suffered sudden and violent loss far too many times, but this night was different. This night I was responsible. It was an accident, but I was responsible." Ted died in Aug. 2009 at 77.

These 3 U.S. Cities Were Named the Best in the World for 2026

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 12:26pm

Travel rankings often feel like beauty contests for destinations. Some cities win for their culture. Others for their food, nightlife, or sheer electricity. But every year one list in particular sparks conversation among travelers who care deeply about city life.

The newest global ranking from Time Out’s 50 Best Cities 2026 list surveyed more than 24,000 residents worldwide and consulted over 100 city experts, evaluating destinations on everything from food and culture to affordability, happiness, and overall vibe.

While cities like Melbourne, Shanghai, and Edinburgh dominated the very top of the list, a three American destinations still carved out impressive positions among the world’s most exciting urban playgrounds. And for travelers dreaming about their next city break, each one offers a very different kind of adventure.

Explore the latest travel stories and updates by subscribing to our newsletter.

The Highest Ranked U.S. City on the List: New York Comes in at No. 5

If there is a city that rarely fades from global rankings, it is New York City. In Time Out’s 2026 list, the Big Apple landed No. 5 in the world, making it the highest ranked city in the United States.

It is not hard to understand why. New York is a place where culture seems to spill onto the sidewalks. Within a single day you might wander through a quiet gallery in Chelsea, eat a slice of pizza that locals swear is the best in the city, and stumble into a street performance in Washington Square Park.

The ranking highlighted New York’s thriving arts and dining scene. According to the survey, 93 percent of locals rate the city highly for culture and 91 percent praise the food scene, a combination that continues to make the city irresistible to visitors. For travelers planning a visit, the appeal is not just the landmarks like Central Park or Broadway. It is the neighborhoods. Brooklyn’s cafes, Queens’ global food scene, Harlem’s music history. Each borough feels like its own small world waiting to be explored.

Chicago Ranked No. 41 Globally and Still Packs a Cultural Punch

Further down the list but still firmly among the world’s best cities sits Chicago, which ranked No. 41 globally. Chicago often surprises travelers who expect a typical Midwestern metropolis. Instead they discover a city with architectural drama, lakefront beauty, and one of the most vibrant food cultures in the United States. Anthony Bourdain once stated “You wake up in Chicago, pull back the curtain and you KNOW where you are. You could be nowhere else.”

The city’s food culture also plays a huge role in its reputation. Deep dish pizza may grab the headlines, but Chicago’s dining scene stretches far beyond that. From neighborhood taquerias to Michelin starred tasting menus, the city offers the kind of culinary diversity that travelers crave. Add in world class museums, summer festivals, and miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan, and Chicago becomes the kind of place that rewards slow exploration.

San Francisco Lands at No. 46 With Iconic Views and Culture

The third American city to appear on the ranking is San Francisco, which placed No. 46 on the global list. San Francisco has long captured the imagination of travelers. Its foggy hills, historic cable cars, and Golden Gate Bridge form one of the most recognizable cityscapes in the world.

But beyond the postcard views lies a destination that thrives on creativity and innovation. The city remains a hub for technology, art, and culinary experimentation. Farmers markets spill onto sidewalks. Coffee shops double as coworking spaces. Restaurants blend global influences in ways that feel distinctly Californian.

The murals of the Mission District, the vintage charm of North Beach, the waterfront buzz of Fisherman’s Wharf. Walking through the city can feel like flipping through a travel magazine where every page reveals a new scene. For travelers willing to climb a few steep hills, the reward is often a breathtaking view of the bay.

For some, the perfect destination revolves around food. Others care most about nightlife, culture, or green space. Time Out’s methodology attempts to capture all of that by combining resident surveys with expert insight, evaluating cities across 44 different categories including culture, affordability, nightlife, and happiness.

That Iconic 'A Court of Mist and Fury' Scene Was Inspired by a Surprising Song

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 12:23pm

While A Court of Thorns and Roses started the relationship between Feyre and Rhysand, it was in A Court of Mist and Fury where it developed into something romantic and fulfilling. That all happened thanks to the Starfall scene, an iconic moment that readers are still waiting patiently to see play out on the small screen.

There is still going to be a wait for that scene to happen on TV. While announcing new ACOTAR books, Sarah J. Maas also shared that she has the rights back for her books. If there is going to be an adaptation, it will be on her terms. On top of that, she shared the inspiration behind the A Court of Mist and Fury scene.

A Florence + The Machine Song Was Inspiration for the Starfall Scene

During the almost-two-hour Call Her Daddy podcast, Maas delved into her books and writing process. It was in that when she explained the inspiration behind the beautiful and enchanting Starfall scene.

Maas quickly named this as the most romantic scene she has ever written, and many fans will agree. It’s the moment during the Night Court when the pair are splattered with glitter, creating a sense of stars sparkling in the moonlight.

It turns out that there was a reason for this “cosmic” feel to the scene. It was inspired by “Cosmic Love” by Florence + The Machine. Even now, when she hears the song, she is taken back to the scene that she wrote.

Sarah J. Maas Shares Something Even More Surprising About Rhysand

It turns out that the Starfall scene wasn’t even supposed to happen in ACOMAF. Rhysand wasn’t even a planned character when Maas started writing A Court of Thorns and Roses.

The original plan was to have a sweet romance between Feyre and Tamlin, something similar to Beauty and the Beast, and then Rhysand walked into the story. Maas decided to go along with the story that was playing out in her mind, and it certainly worked.

By the second novel, she ended up with a love story that enchanted everyone, and since then, Rhysand has become everyone’s BookTok boyfriend. Since then, multiple people have gotten themselves Rhysand tattoos, and it’s arguably all thanks to the iconic moment that came about because of a song.

Good Morning America aired a special look at Lopez's interview on Nightline, where she reveals whether or not she's ready for another relationship. The "Let's Get Loud" singer reveals she doesn't plan to get into a relationship since divorcing Affleck in 2024 after tying the knot in 2022.

"I'm in my happy era,” Lopez, 56, said. "I think, for the first time in my life, I feel like I’m free; I’m on my own. And it feels really good."

Lopez was also in the spotlight for dating Puff Daddy from 1999 until 2001,Casper Smarton-and-off from 2011 to 2016, and became engaged to Alex Rodriguezduring their relationship from 2017 to 2021.

They dated from 2002 until 2004 and were even engaged before ending the relationship. Lopez admits that the divorce had her "stop everything" and take a year off to "sit in what had happened without running away from it through work, through another person, through anything — just sit." She now has learned to "really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more."

1960 No. 1 Hit Was So Good It Turned a Movie Theme Into a Timeless Classic

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 12:01pm

In early 1960, Percy Faith and his Orchestra had a surprise hit with the song “Theme From a Summer Place.” The iconic instrumental soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Feb. 22, 1960, and remained there for nine weeks. The song spent a total of 21 weeks on the Hot 100 chart during an era when rock and roll was king, with early artists such as Elvis Presleyand Bobby Rydell on the horizon.

“Theme From a Summer Place” was named the No. 1 song of 1960 by Billboard, and it won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year at the Third Annual Grammy Awards in April, 1961.

In the book The Billboard Book of Number One Hits, “Theme From a Summer Place” was described as "the most successful instrumental single of the rock era." The song was more commercially successful than 24 prior instrumentals that had topped the charts since 1955.

The song was originally composed for a 1959 movie

“Theme From a Summer Place” got its start in the 1959 movie A Summer Place, starring Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. The song, composed by Max Steiner, was not the film’s opening theme song, but instead it was played during romantic scenes between the lead characters, Molly and Johnny. The version heard in the film was not recorded by Faith’s orchestra, but instead by the musicians used for Steiner’s full movie score.

In a 2020 interview with Parkridge Classic Film, music journalist Steven C. Smith noted that Steiner was good at “listening to the music of his time, even if it wasn’t music he particularly enjoyed.“ That helped come up with the future hit.

“’Theme From A Summer Place’ holds a very important place in Steiner’s life, because for decades, Max had been trying to write a hit popular song,” Smith shared. “Then, in 1959, he scored A Summer Place; and for the young lovers Johnny and Molly, he wrote basically a pastiche of a simple rock’n’roll ballad, complete with repeating triplets a la ‘Blueberry Hill.’   … Max did not expect that theme to have a commercial life. But it was recorded by easy listening conductor Percy Faith, and it became what Billboard magazine named the best-selling instrumental in the history of early rock ’n’ roll. Written by a 71-year-old symphonic composer from Austria!”

In a rare 1973 interview with Wink Martindale, Faith looked back on the success of his version of “Theme From a Summer Place” following the flop movie. Indeed, in a December 1958 review, Varietywrote that the movie’s writer and producer, Delmer Daves, “missed the mark by a mile” with the “average” film that was "about 20 minutes too long.”

But Faith’s hit song the following year prompted some to check the movie out again. The composer told Martindale that he often received mail from “youngsters” who told them they’d cry whenever they heard the song on the radio.

A failed follow-up

More than a decade after his big hit, Faith tried his luck with “Theme From a Summer Place” once more. The disco-inspired “Summer Place ‘76” didn’t quite pack the punch of the original. It was released posthumously after Faith’s death in February 1976, but it wasn’t a hit.

In 2000, “Theme From a Summer Place” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

‘Wonder Years’ Star Danica McKellar Makes Shocking Admission About What Her Placenta Tasted Like

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:58am

Danica McKellar, who starred alongside Fred Savage on The Wonder Years, made a shocking admission about tasting her own placenta during a recent podcast appearance.

McKellar, 51, who starred as Winnie Cooper on the beloved ABC family series from 1988 to 1993, has gone on to a diverse career that includes everything from acting to mathematics. But one thing we didn't expect the brunette beauty to say was how much she loved the taste of her own placenta when she tried it after giving birth.

During an appearance on The Bobby Bones Show, McKellar, who has a 15-year-old son named Draco, revealed that she tasted her placenta after giving birth and compared the flavor to "the best filet mignon."

"My doula said, 'Do you want to taste the placenta?' I'd just given birth, and I'm like, 'Sure.' I mean, you’re not in your right mind," she recalled. "She gave me a piece of it. Bobby, it was like the best filet mignon that I have ever tasted. But more," McKellar shared. "I was embarrassed about how much I loved it. It was bizarre. I thought, 'What is this, some sort of weird satanic… Am I a cannibal?' [But] we are meant to have that."

Why Did Danica McKellar Quit Acting?

She may have won America’s hearts as Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years, but Danica McKellar wanted more for herself than Hollywood.

In a revealing interview with Closer Weekly, the actress explained why she chose to explore alternative career paths after her time on the beloved show was complete.

“When I finished ‘The Wonder Years,’ I went to UCLA to get a degree in mathematics,” McKellar told Closer. “I stopped acting for four years. I just needed to find out who else I was.”

It was by ditching Tinseltown and working toward a college degree that McKellar discovered a whole new life outside of Hollywood.

“When The Wonder Years was over, and I went to UCLA — it all happened around the same time — for me, it was like, ‘Oh my gosh. What would my value be if I didn’t have this show?'” Looking beyond the sphere of acting, McKellar found out that her potential was significant.

“For me, the way I could find out was just to do something else and really exercise my brain and let go of all the glamour and superficiality of Hollywood,” McKellar continued. “That was really empowering to me.”

McKellar did do some acting work outside of her titular role. However, she didn’t find a ton of fulfillment from it initially.

“I was doing all these independent films that weren’t very good,” she admitted. “Then I started getting some traction. I did The West Wing for a season.”

Luckily, we'll always have The Wonder Years to watch in reruns!

While fans were captured by her natural beauty, her interview also struck another chord as she reflected on how the character in the film, which also starred Eugene Levy and Seann William Scott, is a far departure from who she is in real life.

"For me it was a role, it was playing a character," she said. "But even in my real life I'm just not the girl that likes to be naked, ever."

"Even at home I'm always covered up," she added. "Like I have friends that sleep in the nude and they don't mind walking around that way. That was never me, but because that was kind of my coming out everyone assumed I was that girl."

Still, the actress, who went on to star in 'Scary Movie,' appear in That '70s Show and compete on Dancing With the Stars, said she's grateful for her role in 'American Pie' as it started her career.

"I just feel very blessed that I got it and that it's done everything it has for me," she said. "Everything that I've done in my life is because of 'American Pie.'"

One caveat though? Her quintessential '90s look.

"What was I doing with my hair and why did I look that way?" she joked.

World-Renowned Chef Accused of Abuse by Former Staff—What We Know So Far

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:45am

There's an interesting cognitive dissonance that exists in the space between the front of house and the back of house. As diners, we're ushered to our tables by hosts and greeted by a server whose sole responsibility is to distract us from thinking too much about what's happening just on the other side of the pass. We order drinks and food, enjoy the carefully orchestrated atmosphere, pay and go on with our lives. The reality, though, is that a restaurant is more like oil and water. An emulsion that blends where it needs to, but more often than not separates into two very distinct worlds.

While the front of house creates the illusion of order, the back of house often exists in a type of organized chaos that can create a pressure cooker that's almost always set to blow. It's not an environment for the faint of heart by any means. Never mind the fact that you're dealing with ultra-sharp knives, live fires and doing it all at breakneck speeds, but there's also a healthy dose of ego injected into any kitchen—let alone one as prestigious as Noma. It's this set of circumstances that allegedly led to the recent claims of abuse by former staff members at the world-renowned restaurant, and it's time we talked about it.

😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔

To catch you up to speed, René Redzepi, the highly acclaimed chef and co-founder of Noma, a three-Michelin-star restaurant often named the best in the world, has recently been accused of abuse by 56 former staff members who have come forward to detail their experiences. The disturbing allegations first started surfacing in February, when Jason Ignacio White, the former head of research and development at Noma's fermentation lab, began sharing victims' testimonies on Instagram

Founder of Noma Accused of Physically Abusing Former Staff Members View this post on Instagram

The shocking claims include everything from physical abuse to sexual harassment, with one person accusing René specifically of punching them in the ribs for turning down the volume in the prep kitchen. There were also claims that the restaurant relied heavily on unpaid interns who would essentially stage for three months before finding out whether they would even be offered a job. Amid the sea of damaging screenshots and reprehensible emails, a recurring pattern of behavior seems to emerge, indicative of a systemic issue that allowed such an environment to thrive.

Toxic Behavior Allegedly Spanned Decades

Despite the recent bombshell allegations magnified by White on noma-abuse.com, the incredibly intense culture and extreme working conditions have been public for quite some time. The restaurant has routinely been discussed on message boards and social media and was even the subject of the 2008 documentary film Noma at the Boiling Point, which offered somewhat of a glimpse into what it takes for a concept like Noma to even exist. Redzepi himself has also acknowledged his behavior in the past, notably recalling in an essay for Lucky Peach an incident where he "went completely crazy" on an employee for not doing what he had asked of her.

Although the timeline of the alleged abuse is unclear, some of the testimonies claim that it goes back several years. One allegation states that a cook was punched in the stomach by Redzepi for not picking herbs correctly as far back as 2012. Unfortunately, the story is far from over. The news comes as Noma is set to embark on a 16-week pop-up in Los Angeles from March 11 through June 26. In lieu of the allegations, American Express and Blackbird have both backed out as sponsors. In a direct response to the claims made against him, René Redzepi posted a statement to Instagram, and it went over about as well as you'd expect.

René Redzepi Responds to Allegations View this post on Instagram

While several chefs and commenters commended him for addressing the issue head-on, thousands of others expressed their frustration that his apology coincided with the publication of the bombshell New York Times report by Julia Moskin. "Oh, an apology an hour before the @nytimes article came out," commented one person. "Nah," someone else dismissed. Even more so, people speculated about what actual measures would be taken to compensate the victims of the alleged abuse, other than a four-slide apology on Instagram.

As far as actually getting justice for the abused goes, that's still a work in progress, but Jason Ignacio White is wholly dedicated to using this moment not only to hold those at Noma accountable but also to effect change industry-wide. The unfortunate reality is that the environment at Noma doesn't exist in a vacuum, and there are likely other examples out there we haven't heard about yet. To stay up to date on what's happening with the victims, you can follow White on Instagram @microbes_vibes and keep an eye out on noma-abuse.com as the story develops.

1973 Album That Went to No. 1 53 Years Ago Sold For a Shocking Amount

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:45am

You might want to check your parents’ (and grandparents’) record collection, because there might be some gold there—and we’re not talking about the classic sounds put on those vinyl records. Like comic books, Beanie Babies, and trading cards, certain albums are worth a lot of money, as one seller just found out when they sold their copy of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moonon Discogs, the premier online music marketplace.

Released in March 1973, The Dark Side of the Moon was a landmark album for the prog rock titans, both critically and commercially. Critics and fans loved it, and Dark Side has become synonymous with Pink Floyd. It also made a lot of money: it topped the Billboard 200, kicking off a 14-year/741-week run on the album chart. Since then, Dark Side has re-entered the chart, racking nearly 1,000 nonconsecutive weeks.

So, a first pressing of The Dark Side of the Moon would be worth some money, especially in mint condition. How much, exactly?

“Over 20,000 collectors have the 1973 first pressing of @pinkfloyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon' in their Wantlist on Discogs,” the platform wrote on March 10. “Last week, a near-mint version of this pressing sold on Discogs for over $13,000.”

View this post on Instagram

You might be thinking, that’s a lot. And you are correct. But this version wasn’t just a retail copy that a preservationist picked up at a Sam Goody store in 1973.

“According to the seller, this record was one of the first 300 produced and was previously owned by an EMI employee,” wrote Discogs. “It has the coveted 1G/1G matrix and is unplayed with no spindle wear visible.”

So, this is album one of the literal first copies produced, unplayed, and in pristine condition? And it has the blue triangle on the label? No wonder it went for $13,160

Of course, record collectors had fun in the comments section. Did they offer free shipping?” inquired one fan.

“Great, now everyone coming into a record store is gonna think their Dark Side of the Moon is worth thousands,” wrote one user.

“This is the one the mailman will fold. Guaranteed,” added another. “You could buy 13k 2nd presses for that price,” added another.

That copy of The Dark Side of the Moon will likely be the most expensive record sold on Discogs in March. Last month, a version of Glen Danzig’s “Who Killed Marilyn?” went for 10,000. Whereas the original 1982 pressing on black vinyl had 5,000 copies (and is worth around $500 each), the second pressing in 1982 had 500 copies on purple vinyl, and a limited run of 25 copies on purple-and-black vinyl.

If you think that $13,000 for a copy of The Dark Side of the Moon is wild, check out how much you’d have to spend to replicate their Live in Pompeii concert.

Kate Hudson's Brother Oliver Believes She Could Make Oscars History

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:40am

Kate Hudson has the possibility to win an Oscar at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards, and her brother Oliver Hudson is definitely rooting for her.

Kate, who is nominated in the Best Actress category this year, would not only be earning her first-ever Oscar if she were to win, but she would also be making history alongside her famous mom, Goldie Hawn.

Hawn, 80, already has an Oscar under her belt, after taking home the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1970 for her performance in Cactus Flower.

While recently speaking with reporters for ABC's "On the Red Carpet," Oliver said he's pulling for Kate to come out on top, as it would make his mom and sister the first mother-daughter duo to each win an Oscar.

"That would be amazing," he said of the possibility that Kate wins the Oscar on Sunday, March 15. She's nominated in the Best Actress category for her performance as Claire Sardina in the hit musical film, Song Sung Blue.

"You see the work that Kate puts into this," Oliver explained. "You see how dedicated she is to what she does. The role is amazing. how she performs it is level 10 difficulty, which, I think people need to understand that."

"For us, it would be an amazing moment. There's absolutely no doubt about it. But at the end of the day, we'll go home and have a beer and be like, 'All right, what's next?'"

It's not Kate's first time being up for an Oscar, as she previously had the chance to make history in 2001 when she was nominated for her supporting role as Penny Lane in the hit 2000 film, Almost Famous. (The award that year ultimately went to Marcia Gay Harden for Pollock.)

At this year's ceremony, Kate is up against Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs, I'd Kick You), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) and Emma Stone(Bugonia).

The 98th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will air live on Sunday, March 15 on ABC and Hulu starting at 7 p.m. ET.

This Beloved ABC Show Was a Massive Hit in the '90s — Then It Was Suddenly Canceled

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:35am

There's sometimes nothing worse than a popular series being hit with a cancellation despite its dedicated fanbase. Quite a few shows from the 90s were struck with the same fate, with Twin Peaks having been canceled after only two seasons on ABC.

TheDavid Lynchseries is inarguably a cult classic that originally premiered in early April 1990. It starred Kyle MacLachlan as Special Agent Dale Cooper, an FBI agent thrust into the grand mystery behind the murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). Set in the Pacific Northwest town of Twin Peaks, the series captured attention thanks to its use of a detective narrative, supernatural elements, and eccentric characters.

By all accounts, Twin Peaks was a massive success for ABC when its pilot episode led to the network's highest ratings in four years, in its late Thursday night time slot. While the first season waned and spiked in viewership ratings, it still managed to get a Season 2 renewal.

Why was the series suddenly canceled after Season 2? The reasoning was clear, as the main storyline of finding Laura's killer was resolved in the second season. Lynch and Mark Frost were also less involved with the series after Season 2, Episode 14 revealed the killer's identity. There was also some creative tension between the two creators, as Lynch never wanted to resolve the storyline.

Related: John F. Kennedy Jr. Starred in One Episode of This Hit ’80s Sitcom in 1996

Twin Peaks ran into further problems as audience interest began to lessen mid-way through the season, and the series had been moved from its usual timeslot. Its timeslot change was reported to have been a result of the Gulf War, and led Twin Peaks to go on a hiatus before releasing its final two episodes.

After resolving the murder case, reports also claimed that writers were forced to make storyline changes due to an on-set issue. At the time, Frost said they planned to focus on Agent Cooper and Audrey Horne's (Sherilyn Fenn) growing relationship in the series, but were shot down byLara Flynn Boyle. Boyle, who starred as Donna Hayward, vetoed the idea, seeing as she was in a real-life relationship with MacLachlan at the time.

"[Boyle] was mad that my character was getting more attention, so then Kyle started saying that his character shouldn't be with my character because it doesn't look good, 'cause I'm too young... I was not happy about it. It was stupid," confirmed Fenn in a 2014 interview.

With the murder solved, the writers added in more secondary storylines, and the overall decline of fan viewership led Twin Peaks to be canceled after two seasons. The series did spark a media franchise, a 1992 prequel feature film titled Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, and Lynch's 2017 revival.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Sheriff's Department Confirms Latest on Annie Guthrie, Tommaso Cioni's Vehicle

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:34am

Authorities confirm that a vehicle connected to the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie remains in law enforcement custody as of Wednesday, March 11. The blue Honda CR‑V associated with Nancy's daughter, Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, has not been returned to the family, the Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed to Parade.

PCSD says that they are in the process of returning the vehicle to the family, though there isn't an "exact date when that will happen."

On the March 10 episode of Nancy Grace's Crime Stories podcast, investigative reporter Dave Mack reported that the Honda is currently at a mechanic shop.

“The vehicle is at the auto mechanic right now, where it is still in the custody of the Pima County Sheriff's Department, not the Guthrie's, and is being worked on by this auto mechanic," Mack said, adding that the car is allegedly being "put back together" following an exhaustive search.

The vehicle was impounded, likely to collect DNA evidence, as it's one of the last places that Nancy, 84, was before her disappearance. According to the Pima County Sheriff Department's timeline of events, Nancy took an Uber to her daughter's home on Saturday, Jan. 31. After dinner and spending some time together, Cioni drove Nancy home—about 10 minutes away.

Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that Cioni ensured that his mother-in-law was safely inside her home before he left.

From there, authorities believe that a person or persons entered Nancy's home in the middle of the night and abducted her. It's unclear what might have happened inside the home, or the possible motives behind these actions.

Police also impounded Nancy's car, which was parked in her garage when authorities arrived at her home on Sunday, Feb. 1. The status of her vehicle is currently unclear.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI have been working diligently in an effort to find Nancy—and to find the person or persons responsible for her disappearance. Sheriff Chris Nanos previously released a statement in which he cleared all members of the immediate Guthrie family—and their spouses— in the case.

Jon Stewart Breaks Down His Go-To Taco Bell Order, and It’s Hilariously Specific

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:30am

If you get to know your favorite celebrities well enough, you start to notice just how much your interests align. Whether it's eating habits, humor, a love for the arts or even opinions on current events, social media has made it easier than ever to spot the little things we share with people we admire.

On a recent episode of The Weekly Show Podcast with Jon Stewart, The Daily Show star was asked to describe his go-to Taco Bell order. The question came after his producers asked whether he would prefer Taco Bell or Arby's as his last meal, to which Stewart replied that it was like being asked whether, in your final moment on earth, you'd rather receive a hug or a punch in the face.

Naturally, the hilarious exchange led to a detailed breakdown of his preferred Taco Bell meal, reminding fans once again that their favorite comedian isn’t so different from them after all.

Jon Stewart's Taco Bell Order

Nathan Hutsenpiller

When asked what his Taco Bell order is, Stewart jumps straight in, showing he's no stranger to The Bell: "Crunchwrap Supreme, no meat, with refried beans," he says.

"I like the refried over the black beans because I don't like to see my beans as individuals. I get attached to them, it's not right. You see them as individual nuggets of bean. The refried bean feels more like a substrate, something in which the other ingredients can all exist together."

Stewart continues, "But the black bean always felt like, 'Who are you? You arrogant—you're not even mixing with my other ingredients,' so I like the refried."

Now, if Stewart is "feeling particularly celebratory"—jokingly apologizes for "having thought about this too much"—he adds a Nachos Bell Grande with no meat to the order.

"And what I like about that is, each chip is its own experience. You can get the couple of chips that are in the corner that nobody has decided to touch, so they're empty and devoid, and you can create whatever bite you want. A little bit of refried, a little bit of cheese, a little bit of sour, a little bit of tomato, boom!"

My Honest Review of Jon Stewart's Go-To Taco Bell Order

Nathan Hutsenpiller

When Stewart frames the question as, "Would you rather fall asleep eating ice cream or being burned alive," the answer is obvious: ice cream all day. And if his Taco Bell order could be compared to something as universally satisfying as ice cream, I'd have to agree that it certainly hits the spot.

I've always been a fan of the Crunchwrap Supreme, and while I normally go for ground beef, I have to admit I didn't miss it at all while biting into Stewart's take on the popular menu item. And while I had asked for no meat, no black beans and the addition of refried beans, Taco Bell got it slightly wrong and gave me no beans or meat at all. Even so, the order still delivered its signature soft-and-crunchy texture and classic Crunchwrap flavor, proving Stewart's approach hits the mark.

Nathan Hutsenpiller

As for the Nachos BellGrande, I've only ordered it a couple of times for the exact reason Stewart likes the dish: the toppings are rarely evenly distributed. That said, I'm never one to turn down a serving of nachos, and I couldn't agree more that adding refried beans is a truly superior option. Even with the expected uneven toppings, Stewart is spot on about how each bite can be its own unique experience.

Overall, both menu items ordered Stewart's way not only hit the spot but also filled me up entirely. Furthermore, they showed me that I can remove meat from my favorite Taco Bell items and still enjoy the experience. Maybe my summer diet can actually include Taco Bell after all—or maybe the jury is still out on that one.

Mom Sues Major Airline For 'Scalding' 4-Year-Old Daughter Mid-Flight

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:29am

A lawsuit filed against United Airlines is drawing new attention to passenger safety aboard commercial flights after a mother claimed her young daughter was severely burned by scalding hot water during an international trip.

According to the complaint, New Jersey mother Miriam Landynski is suing the airline after her 4-year-old daughter was allegedly burned by hot water during a flight from Newark to Tel Aviv in April 2025. The lawsuit claims a flight attendant handed an uncovered cup of extremely hot water to another child in the family, and the cup was accidentally dropped, spilling onto the young girl.

SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox

People reported that the complaint alleges the child suffered serious burns, permanent scarring, and significant pain, along with emotional trauma from the incident. The family also claims they have faced ongoing medical costs and other hardships related to the injuries.

While the exact amount of damages being sought has not been publicly disclosed, the lawsuit argues that the airline is responsible for maintaining safe conditions for passengers during flights.

Related: United Airlines Is Finally Cracking Down on One of Flying’s Biggest Annoyances

What the Lawsuit Claims Happened

According to court filings, the incident occurred when the hot water, reportedly served without a lid, was given to another child seated nearby. When the cup was spilled, the boiling liquid allegedly landed on the 4-year-old, causing immediate burns.

The lawsuit states that the injuries were severe enough to cause long-term physical and emotional harm, including pain, mental anguish, and permanent scarring. The complaint also claims the girl has been “deprived of enjoyment of life” as a result of the injuries.

The family is seeking compensation for medical expenses and other damages tied to the incident.

As of now, the airline has not publicly responded to the lawsuit, and the case will likely take months, or even years, to resolve through the legal system.

Safety Concerns on Airplanes

Hot beverages and boiling water are routinely served on flights for tea, coffee, and instant meals, particularly on long-haul international routes. However, the case raises questions about how airlines handle hot liquids in crowded cabins where turbulence, movement, and tight seating can make spills more likely.

Flight attendants typically use insulated containers and lids for hot drinks, but the lawsuit argues that basic safety precautions may not have been followed in this situation.

Aviation safety experts often note that even small spills can lead to serious burns because liquids used for hot drinks can reach temperatures above 180 degrees Fahrenheit, which can cause skin injuries within seconds.

Related: United Airlines Just Overhauled Its MileagePlus Frequent Flyer Program

Has United Been Sued Before?

Like many major airlines, United Airlines has faced multiple lawsuits from passengers over the years, ranging from service disputes to personal injury claims.

One of the most widely publicized incidents occurred in 2017, when a passenger was forcibly removed from a United Express flight at Chicago O’Hare International Airport after the plane was overbooked. The event sparked global outrage after videos showed the passenger being dragged from his seat by airport security officers. The case eventually resulted in a legal settlement and changes to the airline’s passenger policies.

Other lawsuits involving airlines have focused on issues such as passenger injuries, accessibility complaints, and disputes over seat assignments or onboard services.

However, incidents involving hot liquid burns on flights are relatively uncommon, which is part of why this case has drawn attention.

What Happens Next

The lawsuit will now move through the legal process, where attorneys for both sides will present evidence and arguments about what occurred during the flight.

If the case proceeds to trial, the court could determine whether the airline was negligent in how the hot water was served and whether that negligence caused the child’s injuries.

For travelers, the case serves as a reminder that even routine in-flight services, like a cup of hot water or coffee, can pose risks if safety procedures aren’t carefully followed.

And as airlines continue to handle millions of passengers each year, lawsuits like this often reignite discussions about how carriers can improve safety standards in the cabin.

A Cheesy New Dip From Publix Feels Like a Warm Italian Hug

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 11:21am

Chicken Parmesan is one of those Italian dishes that’s hard to resist. With crispy breaded chicken, gooey cheese, and marinara, the combination has long been a comfort-food staple. At Publix, those flavors are now showing up in a new prepared-foods item: Chicken Parmigiana Style Dip.

Like Publix’s other heat-and-serve chicken dips, this version includes chunks of chicken with marinara and cheese, essentially turning the flavors of chicken Parmesan into a scoopable snack. And if you’re wondering how good it tastes, creator Sarah @sarahmargareteats gives it a “10/10.”

You can see the new Publix find in this TikTok shared on March 10:

Sarah notes that while the dip may not look especially inviting on camera, the smell certainly impressed her. For tasting, she chose a bag of Limited Edition Three Cheese Texas Toast Chips, also from Publix. After trying it, she says it “might be my new favorite dip at Publix.” That’s high praise considering how popular the store’s prepared dips already are, including the fan-favorite Buffalo Chicken Style Dip.

Beyond the cheesy chips, the dip could pair well with vegetables, warm sourdough bread, or even spread on cheesy toast and broiled. It could also work as a topping for a plain chicken sandwich, adding an extra layer of flavor.

Sarah says the dip was $6.99 at her Publix, though prices may vary by location. For those curious about the nutrition details, Publix lists 15 servings per container, 50 calories per serving, 1 gram of carbs, and 4 grams of protein.

Publix’s New Chicken Parmigiana Style Dip Expands the Store’s Popular Prepared Dips

Publix’s prepared foods section is already known for its ready-to-serve dips. One of the most talked-about items is the store’s Buffalo Chicken Style, which many shoppers pick up for quick snacks or as an appetizer for parties. The new Chicken Parmigiana Style Dip appears to follow that same idea, using the familiar flavors of chicken, marinara, and melted cheese in a scoopable format.
