A local TV station is facing backlash from viewers after airing a special on Nancy Guthrie that contained a major error. Following the KVOA News 4 Tucson broadcast of "Bring Her Home: The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie," viewers quickly took to social media, pointing out that the program misstated the date of her disappearance.

In addition to recapping the past several weeks, the television special featured an interview with Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos and an exclusive statement from the Guthrie family. It was during KVOA's interview with Sheriff Nanos, however, that the incorrect date was stated.

"Take me back to the night of Sunday, January 31," KVOA anchor Monica Garcia said during her interview with Nanos.

Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on Sunday, Feb. 1. She was last seen by her family members on Saturday, Jan. 31 around 9:45 p.m. local time. When she didn't show up at a friend's house to watch a livestream of a church service on Sunday morning, her family was notified. Within minutes of arriving at her home in the Catalina Foothills, authorities were called. According to the Pima County Sheriff's official timeline, authorities arrived at the home after 12 p.m. local time.

"No disrespect to the Guthrie family. I pray every day Nancy is found, but your reporter while speaking to the sheriff got her dates wrong. Nancy was reported missing around 11:50 on Sunday FEB 1," one person wrote on X after the special aired.

"How disappointing this wasn't about Nancy and helping her get home, but a hit report on the people keeping her name out there by live streaming. Just shameful reporting, another reason we stopped watching TV news," someone else said.

"This was a horrible click bait. Repeats of what other channels have already reported. Can’t even get the date correct. If not for streamers who is reporting & try to find Nancy? Not KVOA, you should be ashamed of this! Find Nancy," a third comment read, adding a special thank you to YouTubers who have been covering the case.

"This was a pathetic hit piece on streamers while using their footage and interviews. Nothing new and no updates. Absolutely appalling and disgusting & edited by a two year old. What a damn joke," a fourth X user added.

KVOA has not publicly responded to the criticism.

As for the episode, the synopsis for "Breakway," airing on March 22, reads, "After Baxter (David Ramsey), a veteran stuntman, disappears following a risky stunt, his girlfriend, Laura (Erica Durance), calls Colter to investigate a B-movie set, uncovering shady producers and a trail that leads into a dangerous underground world."

Four decades ago, a dreamy power ballad helped a now-legendary rock band score its first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart.

On March 22, 1986, Heart's song "These Dreams," a single on the group's self-titled eighth studio album released the year before, soared to the top of the charts, becoming the group's first certified hit.

The exciting milestone actually came after Heart had already released some of the group's most well-known hits, including "Barracuda" and "Magic Man," but it wasn't until years into the band's tenure that the group got to the No. 1 spot.

Along with "These Dreams," the other singles on the Heart album, which came out on June 21, 1985, included "What About Love," "Never," "Nothin' at All," and "If Looks Could Kill." All of the singles except for "If Looks Could Kill" reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album is Heart's only record to top the Billboard Top 200.

While Heart has undergone a few different lineup changes throughout the band's long career, lead singer Ann Wilson and singer and guitarist Nancy Wilson remain the core members. At the time of Heart's release, the band also included Howard Leese, Mark Andes, and Denny Carmassi.

"These Dreams" is one of only two of the band's singles to feature Nancy instead of Ann on lead vocals, and according to Nancy, the extreme success of the song caused a little tension between the sisters.

Speaking with Yahoo Entertainment/SiriusXM Volume in 2021, Nancy recalled, "When I was singing on the demo, the mock vocal, I had a cold that day, so my voice was really scratchy. And [the producers] said, ‘That's really a cool sound. We should keep that in the song.’"

"So, it just came about, like every which way, for that song to actually become the very first ever No. 1 single we ever had — and Ann was pissed!” she went on.

Luckily, Heart went on to have two more No. 1 tracks, with "Alone" in 1987 and "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You" in 1990.

Co-written and produced by Smokey Robinson, the 12-track record famously featured "My Girl," which would later be regarded as one of the greatest songs of all time, by many accounts.

The Temptations Sing Smokey also featured popular songs like "The Way You Do The Things You Do" and "It's Growing," but it was "My Girl" that became a career-defining smash hit for the group.

"My Girl" was released as a single in December 1964, before later being included on The Temptations Sing Smokey. With lead vocals by David Ruffin, "My Girl" earned the group their first No. 1 hit, after it shot up on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in early March 1965. It also spent six weeks at the top of Billboard's R&B songs chart.

"My Girl" has since been ranked as one of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, first coming in at #88 in 2004, before moving up to #41 in the updated 2021 edition.

In 1998, "My Girl" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, which honors "recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old," according to the official website.

"My Girl" was also selected for the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress in 2017, and was officially inducted in 2018.

"I’m totally overwhelmed by 'My Girl' receiving such an honor," Robinson said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter at the time. "As a songwriter, it has become my international anthem. People in countries where English is not the primary language know and sing 'My Girl' when I perform it."

In 1975, Minnie Riperton had a massive hit with “Lovin’ You.” The song, written by Riperton and her husband, Richard Rudolph and co-produced by Stevie Wonder for the album Perfect Angel, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on April 5, 1975. More than 50 years later, Billboardranked the ballad as one of the top 50 love songs of all time.

Paste magazine went a step further, saying Riperton’s vocals “very well might be the greatest singing performance captured on tape.” “'Lovin’ You' is a lullaby surrounded by talking birds, with Richard Rudolph’s acoustic guitar strumming delicately against Wonder’s notes. It’s maybe the most beautiful hit record ever,” the outlet noted.

“Lovin’ You” showcased Riperton’s impressive vocal range and mastery of the whistle register. Radio listeners both loved and hated the background bird chirping in the song, thus “Lovin’ You” has also landed on its share of worst songs lists.

‘Lovin You’ almost didn’t make the album

"Lovin’ You” was inspired by a lullaby Riperton sang to her daughter, future Saturday Night Livestar Maya Rudolph. In an interview with Okay Player, Richard Rudolph recalled, “Minnie was in the kitchen singing, and I was playing the guitar in the other room and suddenly, she started singing something and I went, ‘What?’ That stuck, and I knew that we had it. I didn’t have the bridge yet and then I did that.”

The songwriter noted that during a studio session, it was Wonder’s idea to add the bird sounds. “The window had been open, and there was a bird singing outside. Stevie said, ‘Get the bird,’” he shared. “We went out to the UCLA Botanical Garden with his Nagra tape recorder, and Minnie would sit there and try to sing these really high bird calls and get birds to sing.”

Rudolph added that the record label initially didn’t see “Lovin’ You” as a single.

“The interesting thing about that song was that the record label didn’t think they could release it as a single,” he said. “They didn’t want to release it."

"We had been out on a tour," he continued. "We were playing the set, and when we started to play 'Lovin’ You,’ we saw this amazing thing happen to these people. People started moving closer to each other and putting their arms around each other. It was like a transformational role, and Minnie looked back at me, and I looked at her and asked, ‘Do you see this? This is crazy.’ We came back and said to the label, ‘You’ve got to put this out.’ They responded, ‘You can’t do it. She’s a Black singer and she’s got no bass and no drums.”’ All the experts told us, but we just kept arguing and trying.”

‘Lovin’ You was Minnie Riperton’s only No. 1 hit

Riperton lived less than five years after the success of "Lovin’ You.” The young mother and beloved songstress died from breast cancer on July 12, 1979, at age 31.

In a 2025 interview with The Los Angeles Times, Rudolph looked back on the 50 years since his late wife’s big hit and admitted that “sometimes it’s beautiful and sometimes it’s very painful” to listen to her music.

But he added, “It really touches my heart that the younger generation of musicians is still moved by Minnie and what she did.”

Could a WiFi jammer have interfered with surveillance cameras on the night Nancy Guthrie vanished? There have been a plethora of rumors floating around that the person or persons involved in Guthrie's disappearance may have used a WiFi jammer to block signals in an effort to help them stay untraceable after the alleged kidnapping.

In an exclusive interview with Parade, former NYPD detective David Sarni weighed the possibility, highlighting a detail that has yet to be explained.

"A WiFi jammer can interfere with a signal. They are illegal to own but can be bought online," Sarni says. "Someone [in the neighborhood] had a camera go out around the time of the abduction. It’s a possibility [that a WiFi jammer] was used." Then, he points to one curious detail.

"If there was a WiFi jammer used, why not use it before entering the camera's view that night?" Sarni wonders. "Unless they never tested it before or forgot to turn it on."

As the internet has spent countless hours analyzing the FBI-released videos and photos of the armed individual on Guthrie's front stoop, some noticed that the perp had something with an antenna sticking out of his pants pocket.

In late February, NewsNation’s Brian Entin sat down with former FBI agent Tracy Walder who said that the antenna could be part of a walkie talkie.

“I can’t confirm what’s in his pocket,” Walder told Entin. “The walkie talkie makes sense in the fact that…I feel a getaway vehicle is gonna be critical in this case if there’s someone else that helped, and so that would be a way—obviously you wouldn’t want to use a cell phone—that would be a way in a short range to communicate with someone to bring a car to a certain location."

Walder also acknowledged that the item could have been a WiFi jammer, though she felt that was less likely as she doesn't think the suspect or suspects brought cell phones with them that night.

"I think we would have him by now if he did," she told Entin.

Authorities believe that Guthrie was abducted from her home in the middle of the night on Sunday, Feb. 1. Her whereabouts are still unknown and a suspect has yet to be publicly identified.

"All Shook Up," written by Otis Blackwell, was originally performed by David Hill (a.k.a. David Hess) in 1956, before Elvis recorded his version in January 1957. It was released two months later as an A-side single, with "That's When Your Heartaches Begin" as the B-side.

Elvis' version of "All Shook Up" would go on to become the most famous version of the track, rising to the top of the charts in April 1957, where it spent a total of nine weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's since-discontinued chart of Jukebox Hits.

Bird stays busy, even when WCTH is on hiatus. "I always look for a project that uplifts people and invites meaningful dialogue,” he exclusively tells Parade. “We’re all sending messages every day and this is a deep dive into modern science and the origins of life in a powerful, hopeful way."

He continues: "I believe we send messages every day because everyone is making content. My worldview of hope, life and faith aligns well with my opportunity to get involved in an adaptation of a major book that delves into modern science on The Big Bang Theory. It has taken my partners and me five years of blood, sweat, tears and elbow grease to take this stunning and uplifting deep dive into science."

Extremely thankful for the devoted WCTH fans known as the Hearties, Bird said that he believes they will enjoy the movie because the content is unique.

"When Michael Landon, Jr. and I gave birth to WCTH (the first episode aired on January 11, 2014), we felt that a lot of the programming was bleak, cynical and dripping with cynicism,” Bird explains. "I think the Hearties will love the documentary for the same reason they appreciate When Calls the Heart—because it points to something bigger than themselves and it helps them head out of their fears and worries. It is about a bigger movement of hope."

On the heels of the WCTH Season 13 finale, Bird appreciates that the town of Hope Valley opens its arms to the residents of Benson Hills.

"What excites me about this season is that I wish I could live in Hope Valley," he says. "It takes place in the 1920s, but I hear so many people today say they wish the same thing."

"The storytelling was extremely epic with the raging wildfire and Hope Valley taking the people of Benson Hills into their arms and caring for them. I thought it was a beautiful way to talk about the importance of community," he continues. "Community has always been important to us. Hope Valley is as much of a star; the virtues and values of Hope Valley have been super important."

He adds that he continues to appreciate the evolution of Henry Gowen (Martin Cummins). During the early days of WCTH, Henry was a "guy who was trying to kick women who lost their husbands out of their housing and later found his own personal redemption. He went from a ruthless man to tending hazelnut trees in his older age, and trying to be a good father to his son and help his son turn into a good man."

Bird is also excited that Season 13 continued to pay homage to characters of the past. For example, Jack Thornton has been gone since Season 5, which is a whole eight seasons ago. "But he is still honored in such a rich, fulfilling, and emotional way," he says. "There are two or three good cries in every episode this season."

Prior to WCTH, Bird was a key writer and co-executive producer on several seasons of Touched by an Angel. "When we were building [that show], every episode had to have at least one good cry," he explains. "With When Calls the Heart, I want to continue to make content that helps people through the joys and challenges of their lives." With romance blossoming and an engagement looming for Elizabeth (Krakow) and Nathan (McGarry), Bird explains that their story is really just beginning.

“A lot of people will talk about courtships and say that when they are finally married, the storyline is over," he explains. "But I don’t think a potential engagement or marriage is the end to their storytelling."

"Future seasons will focus on a show about how this couple is going to adjust to being a family now," he teases. "I’m excited as I peek in right now for Season 14—it is as fun and epic as this season. The audience needs to buckle up and not get too comfortable with Nathan and Elizabeth—because there is more coming."

When asked if there is a wedding on the horizon for Season 14, he slyly replies, "No comment—the writing is on the wall." Sheesh!

Two other pivotal characters whom Bird enjoys in the series are married couple Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) and Lee (Kavan Smith) because of their evolution. Rosemary first arrived in Hope Valley as a villain who was a thorn in Elizabeth’s side.

"But Rosemary found new purpose," he reflects. "For me, Rosemary and Lee are the glue that keeps Hope Valley together and keep us coming back for more. They are fun and funny, and fans appreciate them appearing together in their Hallmark movies."

He continues: "They are the Lucy and Ricky on our set. They are true comic gold. Their comic timing is so amazing, and they present such a beautiful human side to many emotional and dramatic scenes."

He mentioned Rosemary and Lee becoming foster parents to Gwendolyn—a young girl from Benson Hills whose father was hospitalized after the fire and had no available caretaker. "I am a big fan of foster and adoption stories," says Bird. "Two of my five children were adopted, and I know this is super necessary in our world.”

Bird acknowledges that women have it difficult on the frontier. "I am a big fan of the idea that women—especially mothers—are the glue that keeps the world from blowing up," he shares. "I believe they save the world every day."

He continues: "That’s what the premise of WCTH is—a bunch of women who lost their husbands in a terrible mine disaster and had to pick up the pieces and put back the pieces of the town. Strong women having robust action in their lives. We need more women to take over things. The women are the kings of Hope Valley."

Season 13 also saw the return of several notable guest stars—including Melissa Gilbert, Lori Loughlinand Brooke Shields. Gilbert came to Hope Valley in Season 12 and continued into Season 13, attracting many Little House on the Prairie fans.

In Season 13, Shields returned as Charlotte—Jack Thornton’s mom and Little Jack (LJ’s) grandmother. "We see his mother getting closure over the loss of her son and caring for her grandson," says Bird. "Jack died in Season 5, yet in the current season, his mother is visiting his grave for the first time. That was a beautiful and deeply emotional scene to hear her talking to her deceased son and it involved echoes of the past."

As we anticipate the Season 13 finale, Hallmark+ is premiering Hope Valley: 1874—a WCTH prequel series starring Bethany Joy Lenz and Benjamin Ayres. Bird and Landon, Jr. are executive producers. While they are not writing the new show, they do read the scripts and provide notes.

When asked if he could have predicted WCTH's success, Bird responds, "No, not at all. We believed we were making something good. We also knew that the odds were against us being successful. Because in general, it is so hard to launch a new show and find a way to break through all the noise."

He continues: “Michael and I love all of the writers and are humbled, blessed, and amazed at how the audience has responded to these shows. With my faith and family legacy, we are trying to launch a good show that offers the kind of content that we believe in. We don’t take any of it for granted. As long as you [the Hearties and other viewers] keep showing up, we will keep making this content for you."

From the beginning, Bird reveals that they called WCTH "the little show that could." He adds, "It was modest, and everyone sacrificed to get it done. We were kind of stunned when it took off."

He said there are more than two million viewers who identify as Hearties—growing from a grassroots fan base—and made WCTH the top-rated Sunday night scripted show on cable. They not only love the series, but also have become their own close-knit community.

In sum, Bird describes Season 13 of WCTH as epic. "What other show can say in Season 13 that it’s getting better?" he asks. "Sometimes you feel you are losing steam, but we don’t feel that way about WCTH; it’s only growing and building with each new chapter."

The Season 13 finale of When Calls the Heart premieres tonight—Sunday, March 22 at 8/7c on Hallmark. Hope Valley: 1874 premieres on Saturday, March 21 on Hallmark+ with a new episode available every Thursday beginning on March 26.

It’s becoming more and more popular to travel with just a carry-on. I’m quite the carry-on pro, especially after living out of a suitcase on a Broadway tour for an entire year. Now, I’ve truly learned how to pair down and pack much more strategically. I go on multiple trips a year, and if any trip is less than two weeks, I usually just bring a carry-on with me. I’ve really gotten it down to a science of exactly what I pack inside my carry-on, and I’m about to share a tip that may make this feat way easier for you, too.

Plan Your Outfits Around Your Shoes

In a Yahoo article by Jill Schildhouse, a woman who goes on over 50 flights per year, she shared one of her top packing tips–and I couldn’t agree more with it. In the article, she explains that you shouldn’t plan and pack your outfits first, then figure out shoes that can go with each outfit. Instead, you should start with choosing your shoes. I personally like to stick to the three shoe rule: only packing a comfortable walking shoe, a shoe that is specific to the climate that you’ll be in, and a decorative and fashionable shoe for evenings.

By starting with shoes (and by only packing three) you will then have to make sure that the outfits you pick go with at least one of the pairs of shoes. You get extra points if the outfits can fit multiple pairs of shoes. This will ultimately stop you from “throwing in an extra pair” just because one of the outfits you chose doesn’t go with any of the shoes you planned to pack. Instead, force yourself to stick to the three pairs of shoes, and the rest will fall into place.

How To Pack Your Shoes In Your Carry-On

Once you’ve figured out exactly what shoes and clothing you’ll be bringing, it’s time to organize them in your carry-on. First, always plan to wear your bulkiest pair of shoes as you travel. Then, keep the lightest pair to pack in your carry-on. I’ve recently been covering my shoes in reusable shower caps, that way they don’t get the rest of the items in my luggage dirty. Then, I’ve found that if you place your shoes in the luggage first, it actually optimizes the space the best.

For example, if you take your shoes and place one shoe laying on the bottom of the suitcase, and another lining the side, they will be completely out of the way for the rest of your belongings. I always place my clothes in compression packing cubes, and you can easily place them on top of the shoes. Since shoes don’t really have much wiggle room in their shape, it’s easier to maneuver the packing cubes to fit into certain spots versus trying to force a shoe to fit in the carry-on. The only time that I place shoes on top is if I’m bringing a very flat pair of sandals, and in that case, it’s easy to lay them on top of everything and then close the suitcase.
