New Report Names the Best Places for a 'Railcation' and They're Full of Rolling Hills, Beautiful Beaches, and Historic Stops
Those looking to hit the road this spring and summer for vacation may be opting to travel by rail instead. From looking for ways to cut costs due to exploding gas prices, to those looking to simply try something new, trail travel is growing in popularity.
One study even says that as many 50 percent of those in the U.K. are participating in the trend, and signing up for railcations over traditional flights and drives. And, they are consistently picking some of the same journeys over and over again, highlighting just how popular certain routes are among travelers. Keep reading to find out where Europeans are heading so you can get a jump on booking your international railcation.
View this post on Instagram 'Railcations' Are Becoming a Popular Way to TravelAccording to research completed by holidaycottages.co.uk 50 percent of families in the UK are opting to travel by train when it comes to everything from day-to-day activities to their vacations. "‘Railcations’ are emerging as a sustainable, scenic and stress-free way for families to travel together," according to the press released received by Parade.
“We’re seeing a real appetite for holidays that slow the pace and reconnect families with the landscape,” Sarah Pring, Digital PR Manager at holidaycottages.co.uk said in the statement. “Railcations are the perfect blend of nostalgia and sustainability, ideal for families who want to experience the UK in a more mindful way. From the dramatic Highlands to the beaches of Cornwall, these routes showcase the best of Britain, all from the comfort of a train seat.”
And they continue to pick the save rail lines each time, highlighting some of the best vacation options for those who enjoy getting a chance to kick back and enjoy the ride from the comfort of their rail car. The top six favorites are:
- Scotland: The West Highland Line (Glasgow → Fort William → Mallaig)
- Yorkshire: The Settle–Carlisle Railway
- Cornwall: The St Ives Bay Line (St Erth ↔ St Ives)
- Cotswolds: The Cotswold Line (Oxford ↔ Hereford via the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills)
- Norfolk: Wherry Lines/Norfolk Broads (Norwich ↔ Lowestoft)
- Cumbria: Lancaster → Carlisle (via Penrith)
It looks like the West Highland line is a fan favorite, and for good reason according to the Tenon Tours. That's because traveling by rail offers a lot of perks, like a lack of luggage limits and the ability to enjoy the scenery while you travel from destination to destination.
Not only that, but you can also choose your rail line, pick between sleeper trains with more relaxing and private accommodations or traditional seats, and make stops in-between destinations where you can explore, stay in a hotel, and visit monuments like castles and other iconic locations.

Holidaycottages.co.uk says that the West Highland line is often described as Britain’s most "scenic railway." The line runs from Glasgow through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs before taking passengers into the heart of the Highlands. "The train crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct before continuing past lochs, forests, and mountains to Fort William and Mallaig," according to the press release.
I don't know about you, but hoping on a train that weaves throughout the countryside while getting to take it all in without having to worry about the rules of the road or getting lost in the scenic highlands sounds like an absolute dream come true, and I can totally see why this has become such a popular way to travel among Europeans.

‘90s Rock Band Announces Exciting News
Guns N’ Roses aren’t just bringing their timeless hits on the road with their upcoming world tour, but also giving fans a special treat in a fresh way.
Ahead of the highly anticipated tour, which will kick off this March, the iconic rockers announced they are delivering a fresh way to connect with their supporters beyond their lineup of shows.
In a social media update, the legendary rock band launched an interactive fan tournament called the “Bracket Brawl.”
The mechanics feature a "March Madness" style song tournament where fans vote on their favorite Guns N’ Roses song, album or music video.
Drummer Steven Adler, Duff McKagan, vocals Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and guitarist Izzy Stradlin of the music group Guns N' Roses pose for a portrait on May 7, 1988.Winners in each category will move to the next round, leaving the losers eliminated. Entries are submitted through the band’s official website.
“Gunners, welcome to the bracket brawl! Which song is going to come out on top? All the classics and deep cuts are going head-to-head and we need your vote! Join now and get your entries in by Sunday, March 22. Fans vote, the winners move on, and the losers get knocked out,” the statement reads, as mentioned on their official website.
The contest allows only one entry per person, which means registering multiple accounts or using multiple email addresses will not increase your chances of winning the special merchandise.

Meanwhile, lucky winners will get a merchandise package that includes the “Nothin'” and “Atlas” 7" vinyl, “Nothin'” black hoodie, Greatest Hits exclusive numbered color LP and the Roses and Pistols dad hat.
As mentioned, the interactive contest kicks off following the announcement of the upcoming world tour by the 2012 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees.
The announcement comes after the December release of Guns N’ Roses’ singles “Nothin’” and “Atlas.”
The world tour will span five continents, giving their global fans more than 40 performances. This includes Latin America in March and April, North America and Europe throughout the summer, and Asia-Pacific in November and December.

Hit ’90s Rock Band Reveals New Album With Wild Space Stunt
The popular English rock band Muse, which was formed in the 1990s, is officially coming back with a new album, and the group literally went out of this world to share the big news.
To prove that the new album will be bigger than anything that's come before from the group, Muse went above and beyond, partnering with Sent Into Space to share the song "Be With You" with the atmosphere. Considering the band's continual connection with space in its music, such as the hit song "Supermassive Black Hole," it's not a huge surprise to see Muse try something like this.
The band sent a special tablet over 20 miles into the atmosphere. While out in space, the tablet streamed the official premiere of the new song and music video. Of course, Muse also shared the video on YouTube for fans to be able to see for themselves.
The new album is called The WOW! Signal, and it's set to be released on June 26 through Warner Records. Along with the release date, fans already have more information about the album, including the track list.
Muse's next release will have 10 songs, including “The Dark Forest," “Nightshift Superstar,” "Shimmering Scars," “Cryogen,” and the single, "Be With You." The last five tracks are "Hexagons," “The Sickness In You & I,” “Unravelling,” "Hush," and "Space Debris."

Actress Dyan Cannon, who's now 89, may be most well-known for her short but high-profile marriage (1965-1968) to actor Cary Grant and her earlier acting roles in films like Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969) with Natalie Wood and Elliott Gould, Heaven Can Wait (1978) with Warren Beatty, and Honeysuckle Rose (1980) with Willie Nelson. Nancy Guthrie Update: Chris Nanos Sends Message to Kidnappers as Investigation Nears Week 8
Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing, going on Week 8 after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos just sent a new message to the 84-year-old's kidnappers.
On Saturday, March 21, KVOA aired a special titled Bring Her Home: The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. The News 4 Tucson station spoke with Nanos toward the beginning of the in-depth recap of the investigation so far.
He recounted the early timeline of Nancy's case, which began when her family reported her missing on Feb. 1 after she was last seen at her home on the evening of Jan. 31. "My team had notified me of a missing person. Search and rescue was searching the area," he told KVOA. "And there were some concerns with what they were seeing at the scene."
Nanos confessed, "I don't even know that I knew it was the Guthrie family until probably closer to 6-7 o'clock that evening."
He added, "The FBI was plugged in that Sunday. Monday morning, we got a quick briefing. They had processed the scene, and we knew we needed some help." That's when investigators made a public call for information and tips, which they've been looking into ever since.
When asked if the investigation had gone the way he wanted to, Nanos replied, "Yes. Yes, absolutely... I have no regrets about my team and their efforts. I don't regret we let the crime scene go too soon or any of that. That's just silly."
Nanos also noted there is still plenty of digital evidence and information that investigators are combing through, but aren't able to publicly share right now.
When asked what message he would send to the person who took Nancy, Nanos said simply, "Give her up. Let her go. Just let her go. Just take her to a clinic, a hospital, drop her off. Just let her go."
During the KVOA special, Savannah and her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, also sent a message to their mother's kidnappers.
Nancy is still missing, as of writing, despite the Guthrie family's $1 million reward offer. No suspect has been named.

Chappell Roan Catches a Ban From Major Music Festival Following Viral Fan Encounter
Chappell Roan appears to be off the setlist at Brazil's Todo Mundo No Rio, a festival that markets itself as "the world's largest dance floor," forever after viral reports of an altercation between her security and a young fan.
Eduardo Cavaliere, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, where the festival is set to take place later this year, took to X today to issue his proclamation, writing in Portuguese, "I mean that as long as I'm in charge of our city - this young lady will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio!"
So far, Shakira is the only confirmed artist for this year's event, set to headline at Copacabana on May 2, but it looks like if Chappell was under consideration, it's off the table now.
— Eduardo Cavaliere (@CavaliereRio) March 21, 2026 Chappell Roan's Security Reportedly Accused a Young Fan of 'Harassment'The pop star is currently in São Paulo for Lollapalooza Brasil, and according to Jorginho Frello, a Brazilian soccer player, her security guard got a little fresh with him and his daughter ahead of her set on March 21.
The athlete took to his Instagram Story to document the incident, which took place in the restaurant of their shared hotel. Frello and his daughter were in town to see her perform, with the young girl so "extremely excited" that she even made a sign for the concert. The two reportedly saw the "Pink Pony Club" songstress at breakfast, but refrained from directly approaching her to say hello.
However, his daughter passed by the table which Chappell was sitting at, apparently looking to catch a better glimpse to know for sure if it was her or not. Frello wrote that she smiled at the singer before returning to her own table with her mom. Not long after, a member of the star's security team apparently approached the two, speaking "extremely aggressively" to his daughter as he accused her of “disrespect” and “harassment.”
Her Dad, a Brazilian Athlete, Shared She Was 'Super Scared' After the Encounter“My daughter got super scared and cried a lot,” Frello wrote. “Honestly, I don’t know in what world just passing by a table and looking… can be considered harassment.”
The incident comes amid much scrutiny against the singer, who is often criticized for her takes on fame and reactions to paparazzi and fans alike approaching her. “Without your fans you would be nobody," he addressed her directly. "And to the fans, she does not deserve your affection.”
Mayor Cavaliere also wrote to Frello on the social media platform, telling him, "...your little one is already the guest of honor from the organization in May!"
Frello appears to have accepted the offer on behalf of his daughter, responding to the politician with a pair of red heart emojis: "♥️♥️."
Nancy Guthrie Update: Savannah & Siblings Send New Message as Search Nears Week 8
Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing, going on Week 8 after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and the Today co-anchor and her siblings just sent a new message.
On Saturday, March 21, the Tucson news station KVOA aired a special titled Bring Her Home: The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie at 6:30 p.m. MT.
"We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbors, friends and the people of Tucson. We are all family now. We continue to believe it is Tucsonans, and the greater southern Arizona community that hold the key to finding resolution in this case," the message from Savannah, Annie Guthrie, and Camron Guthrie read.
It continued, "Someone knows something. It's possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant. We hope people search their memories, especially around the key timelines of January 31 and the early morning hours of February 1, as well as the late evening of January 11."
The message added, "We desperately ask this community for renewed attention to our mom's case—please consult camera footage, journal notes, text messages, observations or conversations that in retrospect may hold significance. No detail is too small. It may be the key."
To conclude the statement, the Guthrie family shared, "We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home. We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home. We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest. Thank you for continuing to pray without ceasing."
Nancy was last seen at her Tucson home on the evening of Jan. 31. As of writing, no suspect has been named.

Sara Bareilles Makes Horrifying Discovery in Her Home: 'That Was Traumatic'
Sara Bareilles stumbled upon an interesting discovery in the walls of her old farmhouse — and it was actually pretty terrifying.
The "Love Song" singer captured the moment on video and posted the details on her Instagram and TikTok accounts.
In the video, she sang, "When you live in the country and you open a door, 'cause it's always been closed every time before. And you see some stuff falling out you think, maybe I should see what’s inside."
She continued, "And it's a skull. And it's a skull. It's the bone of a maggot-filled skull."
The singer opened the small door to reveal soot and animal skeletons.
"I don't know what this thing is, it's a giant dragon," she sang. "What the f--k, what the f--k?"
View this post on InstagramBareilles noted that she hadn't been able to get the small chimney door opened before but decided to investigate when she found "all this s--t on the floor."
She tried to identify the findings, noting it was a "carcass and remains of some kind of giant rodent" and guessed perhaps it was a raccoon.
The Waitress star took it upon herself to shovel out the discovery, but the situation took an even more terrifying turn.
"I’m really grossed out," she shared. "There's a better way to do this, I'm certain of it."
"This body is big, it's like a turkey," she explained before screaming. "Oh my god, it's like birthing itself backwards," she said. "There's multiples ... It's multiple things."
"That was traumatic," the "Brave" singer said after shoveling the remains into a paper bag.
Bareilles also shared how she summoned the courage to investigate the matter. "I've been watching a lot of Alone. I won't give any spoilers, but you got to be tough," she explained. "If one of those contestants had encountered this, they would have boiled the bones."
After she was done, the singer noted, "Even though they're quite, very, very dead, I'm gonna sage the place and then I'm gonna take a shower."
On March 18, Bareilles took to Instagram to note how surprised she was that the video had gotten so much attention. "I don't think I've ever posted anything online that has gotten more interaction than me removing cat carcasses from an old chimney in my house," she wrote.

Whether she’s welcoming cameras into her home for the sake of reality TV with Denise Richards & Her Wild Things or speaking openly about spousal abuse and divorce with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the Drop Dead Gorgeous star has let the public in during her most vulnerable times. And she's doing it again.
In an intimate interview with Allure magazine, the Starship Troopers actress opened up about the changes she’s recently experienced, specifically her stunning face-lift.
What Did Denise Richards Have Done?Speaking about her “shocking” transformation, Richards, 55, told the publication that her reason for going the surgery route was to turn back the clock a little bit.
View this post on Instagram"I wanted to put things back up, where they were before," Richards said.
No stranger to going under the knife for cosmetic reasons, Richards, who had breast augmentation at age 19 and revision surgery since then, said that her face-lift marked the first time she’d ever had cosmetic surgery done on her face.
“I was terrified," Richards said. “Being in the public eye since my 20s, people know what I look like — a facelift is not something that I could hide.”
In addition to the typical face-lift, Allure shared that Richards’ plastic surgeon, Ben Talei, M.D., said he also lifted the outer corners of her lips “to make the mouth look happier and sexier.” He also performed “a very minor and conservative upper blepharoplasty,” a temporal brow lift “to correct the brow position,” and a repositioning of “the forehead and temples back to where they used to be.”
“Dr. Talei used Richards' own fat, taken from her thighs and reintroduced in a thin, even layer underneath the skin on her face and neck, to brighten her complexion and make her look all-around smoother and healthier,” the outlet writes. “And then there was the actual facelift.”
“My face was in his hands,” Richards said, adding that she told her doctor, “You’re the artist. Whatever you want to do.”
The Before-and-After PicturesCommenting on the results, Richards said, “It is night and day. It's shocking, actually."
View this post on InstagramAs Hollywood isn’t keen on sharing its secrets of staying young, the actress and mom of three said that when she opened up about her face-lift, fellow celebs "were more comfortable telling me about theirs, but I’m not gonna name names.”
Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers' SplitAround the same time, Richards was going through a divorce from Aaron Phypers, her husband of six years.
"Unfortunately, I started going through my divorce 10 days after I had surgery. So the second week wasn't as calm as the first week. But I still took it easy, making sure that I took care of my incisions. Each day that went by, the swelling was getting better and better. I looked like myself, but better," she told the magazine.
Phypers filed for divorce from Richards on July 7, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences. Richards accused Phypers of abuse, death threats, and possession of unregistered weapons in a request for a restraining order. Ten days after Phypers’ filing, Richards' request for a temporary restraining order was granted.
Richards' abuse accusations were discussed in a recent episode of the RHOBH, on which Richards used to star. Serving as a guest star in the 15th season, Richards shared with Erika Jayne and Sutton Stracke her experience being abused by Phypers, with the show airing an image of Richards with a black eye.

The Four Seasons' First Luxury Yacht Sets Sail
The luxury hospitality brand Four Seasons has officially entered the world of ultra-luxury yachting with the launch of its first vessel, Four Seasons I, a sleek new ship designed to bring the company's signature five-star service to the open seas. The yacht's maiden voyage set sail from Malaga, Spain, on March 20, 2026—the same day that the very first Four Seasons hotel opened 65 years ago.
Delivered by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the 679-foot yacht marks the debut of the new Four Seasons Yachts brand, a venture created in partnership with Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings. The vessel blends the intimacy of private yachting with the amenities and service standards typically found in the brand's luxury hotels and resorts.
"Four Seasons Yachts is a continuation of the pioneering ambition on which Four Seasons was built, and will reflect the same genuine care, service excellence, and exceptional moments we create for guests on land," Alejandro Reynal, President and CEO of Four Seasons, said in a press release. "We are proud to introduce a new expression of our brand at sea, opening an entirely new horizon for our guests."
Unlike traditional cruise ships, Four Seasons I is intentionally designed to feel exclusive and residential. The yacht features 95 all-suite accommodations, each with expansive terraces and sweeping ocean views. The layouts prioritize privacy and space, offering significantly more room per guest than most cruise vessels in the ultra-luxury segment.
View this post on InstagramAmong the most notable accommodations is the showstopping Funnel Suite, a multi-level penthouse-style residence with more than 5,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor living space. With floor-to-ceiling curved glass windows and panoramic views of the sea, the suite is designed to rival the world's most luxurious hotel penthouses—except it floats.
View this post on InstagramThe yacht itself is also packed with upscale amenities, including a gamut of fine-dining restaurants and bars, a spa, a sun-swathed pool deck, and a marina platform that allows guests to launch directly into the water for activities like kayaking and paddleboarding.
Early routes include sailings through the Caribbean before the yacht repositions to the Mediterranean, exploring destinations along the French and Italian Rivieras, the Adriatic coast, and the Greek Islands.
The launch signals a major expansion for the Four Seasons brand, which is bringing its hospitality model beyond land-based resorts and into a new category of luxury travel. A second vessel, Four Seasons II, is already in development, indicating the company's long-term ambitions in the fast-growing luxury yacht cruise market.
1985 Career-Defining Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 41 Years Ago Today
Jenny Burton’s powerful, versatile voice and upbeat music fueled her rise to fame during the post-disco era. With a bold and infectious energy that was impossible to ignore, one song stood above the rest, turning into a career-defining moment that still resonates 41 years later.
Amid the rising groups and solo artists in the ‘80s, the New York City native had her breakthrough as part of the freestyle/electro studio project C-Bank, where she served as lead vocalist.
Following the success of their 1983 hit "One More Shot,” Burton pursued a solo career, signing with Atlantic Records and releasing her debut album, Black and White, in 1983.
As she carved out her path as a solo artist, it was her self-titled second album, Jenny Burton, that became her most successful release.
Powered by the lead single “Bad Habits” it became her signature song and a major dance hit at the time.

Released in 1985, the track gained massive popularity, even reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club chart.
“Bad Habits” remained at No. 1 for eleven weeks.
More than just a dance craze, Burton’s song also made a strong impact, peaking at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.
“Bad Habits” also extended its international popularity with a No. 68 ranking on the UK Singles Chart.
Written and produced by Allen George and Fred McFarlane, who were also behind the smash hit “Somebody Else's Guy” by Jocelyn Brown, the song was considered a club staple, celebrated for its irresistible dancefloor energy.
Beyond the catchy rhythm and infectious groove, the lyrics focus on emotional conflict and attachment.
The repeated hook “I’ve got a bad, bad habit, baby / And, baby, it’s you” captures the singer’s awareness that, despite being hurt or trapped in an unhealthy relationship, she still feels unable to quit.
In addition to “Bad Habits,” Burton also released a string of notable tracks, including "Remember What You Like," which reached No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as "Strangers in a Strange World,” "Dancing For My Love" and "Do You Want It Bad Enough.”
From dance hits, the singer also found success in other genres after transitioning to inspirational music in the 1990s through her gospel group The Jenny Burton Experience.
This success also led the group to share the stage with a slew of music legends, including Al Green and Stevie Wonder.

This 1995 Sitcom Was Derailed by Unthinkable Loss, Yet Became a Launchpad for Unexpected Stars
On March 21, 1995, a quirky workplace comedy debuted on NBC that fans still talk about today. NewsRadio starred Phil Hartman and a talented ensemble cast. Hartman had wrapped up an eight-year stint on Saturday Night Live shortly before the comedy debuted, making him the most well-known cast member at the time the series debuted.
Most of the rest of the cast was relatively unknown at the time, but that is definitely not the case now. Sadly, tragedy struck after the fourth season, when Hartman was killed. The show never recovered.
NewsRadio starred Hartman, but at its core was an ensemble show. Perhaps the most well-known cast member after Hartman was Dave Foley, who had starred on the Canadian series The Kids in the Hall.
The cast also included Joe Rogan, Andy Dick, and Maura Tierney. None of the three was nearly as established in entertainment as they are now. Others on the show included Stephen Root, Khandi Alexander, and Vicki Lewis. In addition, Jon Lovitz joined the show toward the end of its run.
In the pilot of NewsRadio, viewers meet Dave, a guy from the Midwest who is starting a new job as a news director at New York City radio station WNYX. He quickly discovers that the radio station staff is a handful and he's got his work cut out for him.
NewsRadio never became a massive ratings hit. It tended to have steady ratings in the early seasons, regularly landing in the Top 30 or so. The show's fans may have been relatively small in volume, but they were big in their love for the series.
However, everything changed in May 1998. As People details, Hartman was murdered in his sleep. His wife, Brynn Hartman, shot him. Later that night, she also shot and killed herself.
The couple had been married for 10 years and had two children. At the time of their deaths, the couple's daughter, Birgen, was 6. Their son, Sean, was 9.
Earlier that evening, the couple had argued. She had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction nearly a decade prior to that night, and had recently started drinking again. An autopsy determined that she had cocaine, alcohol, and antidepressants in her system at the time of the shootings.
NewsRadio returned after Hartman's death, but his absence changed everything. His death happened after Season 4 had wrapped, and the network did bring the series back for a fifth and final season.
The show addressed Hartman's death by having his character, Bill McNeal, die off-screen of a heart attack. That particular episode, titled "Bill Moves On," was raw and heartbreaking for viewers and cast members alike.
Lovitz joined NewsRadio in the second episode of that final season, but he couldn't fill the void that Hartman's loss created.
Since the end of its five-season run, NewsRadio has gone on to air on a number of networks in syndication. Fans still marvel at how great the acting and writing was on the show, while simultaneously grieving what could have been had Hartman not been killed.
In a Reddit thread started for the premiere's 30th anniversary, fans shared their love for the program.
One Reddit user wrote, "Fantastic show. Dave Foley was the brains of the show, and Phil Hartman was the heart. Unfortunately, you can't live without either of those vital organs."
Another Redditor added, "Criminally underrated show. All the characters were great."
Someone else raved that NewsRadio was "The perfect workplace sitcom. Absolutely stacked ensemble cast. Stellar writing. Excellent chemistry between the cast members."

Iconic '90s Actor With Major Oscar Award Turns 68
As Gary Oldman turns 68, his career remains a masterclass in transformation and range.
Oldman, who quietly rose to fame in the 1990s, turns 68. Known for his remarkable range and ability to disappear into his roles, he has become one of the most respected actors of his generation.
"I come at the roles with different things," Oldman told The Hollywood Reporter last year. "Everybody has some kind of motor. It might run more slowly than others, or it might be more frenetic, but I try to find that physicality. Music is often a key."
After decades of critically acclaimed performances, Oldman earned his first Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in the 2017 film Darkest Hour. His transformative performance, complete with extensive prosthetics and a commanding presence, was widely praised and marked a defining moment in his career.
"The fun of [acting] was getting away from myself and stepping into the characteristics and the behavior of someone else," Oldman told Jack White for InterviewMagazine. It stems from that thing of not necessarily being that comfortable in your own skin. But the challenge of playing someone like Winston Churchill is that there's more footage of him than you might believe, and there’s certainly enough to read about."
Before his Oscar win, Oldman had already built an impressive résumé with standout roles in films like Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Professional and The Fifth Element. He also became a familiar face to mainstream audiences through major franchises, including playing Sirius Black in the Harry Potter film series and Commissioner Gordon in The Dark Knight trilogy. Most recently, Oldman can be found on the small screen, playing the role of Jackson Lamb on the hit series, Slow Horses.
Born in London, Oldman trained at the Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance before launching his career on stage and later transitioning to film. His early work in British cinema earned him critical acclaim, particularly for his intense and often unpredictable performances.
Over the years, Oldman has become known for taking on a wide range of characters, from historical figures to villains to deeply human dramatic roles, often completely reinventing his voice, appearance and mannerisms for each performance.
As Gary Oldman turns 68, his legacy as an Oscar-winning actor and one of the most versatile performers in modern film only continues to grow.
