One of Disney's Most Popular Coasters Is Shutting Down Until 2027

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 4:10am

If you have a trip to Disneyland Paris on your horizon, you’ll want to take a close look at your itinerary. One of the resort’s most high-profile attractions is gearing up for a massive, multi-month hiatus that will take it out of commission straight into next year.

According to travel expert and Disney blogger Tom Bricker of Disney Tourist Blog,Crush’s Coaster at Disney Adventure World is scheduled to close for an extensive technical refurbishment starting September 7, 2026, with the closure lasting until Summer 2027.

The 10-month project will mark the most significant overhaul the Finding Nemo-themed spinning coaster has seen since it first opened nearly twenty years ago.

According to details shared by Disney and reported by Bricker, the massive undertaking is being handled by a collaborative team that includes Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, Disneyland Paris Central Workshops, and external contractors.

The massive project will unfold in two main chapters. First, crews are going to completely strip down and replace the ride's core technical backbone, swapping out everything from the control systems and sensors to actual sections of the physical track.

After that, the final months of the closure will be entirely dedicated to rigorous safety testing and technical validation to make sure everything runs seamlessly before the first guests climb back on board.

How Disney World Quietly Overhauls Iconic Rides Overnight—And What's Next

"Beyond the technical improvements, this refurbishment will also provide an opportunity to care for the show elements of Crush’s Coaster," Bricker notes, adding that teams will be cleaning, repainting and repairing the attraction's various scenic components to preserve the visual experience.

While the ride's lengthy absence will certainly impact park capacity over the winter and spring seasons, the goal of the refurbishment is to ensure the coaster's reliability and guest comfort for years to come.

If you are planning to visit Disney Adventure World over the next year, you'll want to adjust your strategy accordingly. Tickets and real-time operational updates remain available via the official Disneyland Paris app, but for now, make sure to cross the East Australian Current off your late-2026 and early-2027 travel lists.

This rug makes outdoor living feel just as comfy as your favorite indoor space. Made from eco-friendly recycled plastic, it's gentle underfoot, with no scratchy or stiff texture. At the same time, it’s still tough enough to handle muddy shoes, rainy days, and the hustle and bustle of backyard fun. With size options ranging from a cozy 5 by 8 feet to a grand 10 by 14 feet, each rug is big enough to pull together a seating area or define your picnic spot, yet lightweight enough to fold up and take anywhere. Fans loved how soft it feels under bare feet, making it perfect for everything from morning coffee on the deck to barefoot summer evenings in the backyard. It's gentle on grass and safe to use on a variety of surfaces. Folding may cause a few creases at first, but a little time with something heavy on top will have it looking smooth in no time.

"Happy camper," one shopper said. "It matched perfectly for my front porch chairs and table. Love the look."

"They are a nice weight, great color and easy to clean," another shopper said. "I use my leaf blower to clear larger debris and follow up with my hose nozzle. Since I have a large dog running in and out, I needed an item that would clean quickly and dry."

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 3:36am

Metallica is mourning a heavy loss this week.

In an Instagram post made on July 1, the ‘80s metal group announced that a member of their touring team since 2014, Steve Powell, passed away on Monday. Powell served as the band’s truck driver.

“Steve loved his job and will be sorely missed by the entire Metallica camp,” Metallica posted. “We want to offer our condolences to his family and friends, and deeply appreciate all that he has done for us.  R.I.P. Steve.”

Fans quickly took to Metallica’s comment section to express their condolences to the band and Powell’s family and friends.

“Thank you for always having Metallica where they needed to be with all their equipment,” a fan commented. “Without Truckers this world would fall apart.”

“Thank you for helping us fans see the band we love,” one user said. “The Metallica family lost a good one.”

“Everyone on the team is as important as the guys playing,” another said.

“REST IN POWER KING,” a user said. “He did one of the biggest jobs a band has, logistics.”

Metallica is currently on their M72 World Tour, playing in cities like Dublin, London and Las Vegas. The tour has featured the band’s iconic Repeat Weekend tradition, receiving two consecutive shows with unique set lists.

Lars Ulrich, Metallica’s drummer and co-founder of the band, reflected in 2023 how he’s grateful to still be touring and making music with the group all these years later.

“As a believer in a type of music and as a fan of a type of music and as a proponent of a type of music, it makes me proud that it’s still happening at this level,” Ulrich said.

Tickets for Metallica’s world tour are available on Metallica.com. You can pass along your condolences to the band and Powell’s family and friends on social media.

What Are Target's 2026 Fourth of July Hours?

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 2:41am

For an occasion as monumental as America's 250th birthday, this year's Fourth of July festivities have got to live up to the hype. We're talking star-spangled everything, an endless supply of sparklers and, of course, a dizzying display of fireworks set off the moment the sun sets on the horizon. No pressure. But before we can focus on all the dazzling visual effects, the most important detail to nail down is the food. Sure, we could just toss a few burgers on the grill and call it a day, but why not kick things up a notch by making a three-tier tower of brats or a massive, patriotic-inspired dot cake?

Never mind the fact that we're cutting it close with just a day or so to pull everything together; much like the country, we're resilient. That being said, it's probably a good idea to double-check Target's Fourth of July hours just in case you're up against the clock and need to grab a few last-minute ingredients. Whether you forgot the ketchup and mustard or your potato salad needs a little something extra, Target's got you covered.

You might even find a few items you can zhuzh up to give the illusion that you made them yourself — we promise not to tell. And luckily, if things are coming down to the wire, most Target stores will be open during normal business hours on the Fourth of July. That means you'll have plenty of time to let your red, white and blue Jell-O mold set, and you might even be able to try your hand at making Martha Stewart's all-time favorite turkey burgers.

What Are Target's Fourth of July Hours?

As for Target's hours on the Fourth, most locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. That means you can grab all your last-minute items to celebrate America's birthday in style and still have time to put the finishing touches on your crowd-pleasing sheet-tray nachos that take up an entire table. Regardless, you might want to triple-check your local stores' hours before you set your sights on Target, in case they decide to close early. It's also worth noting that the pharmacy may be closed for the holiday.

Fortunately, there's still plenty of time to toss together a Fourth of July celebration worthy of marking the country's 250th birthday. Just make sure to save us a brat or two! Happy Fourth!

Quote of the Day: Audra McDonald on Why the Scariest Choices Often Lead to the Greatest Growth

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 2:41am

As Audra McDonald celebrates her birthday on July 3, it's a fitting time to reflect on the remarkable journey of one of America's greatest performing artists. Her career has been defined not only by extraordinary talent but also by an unwavering willingness to take on the roles and challenges that frightened her most.

Audra McDonald is a record-breaking six-time Tony Award-winning performer whose extraordinary career has spanned Broadway, opera, film, television, and the concert stage, captivating audiences with her luminous voice, remarkable versatility, and emotional depth.

But success did not come easily. A graduate of The Juilliard School, McDonald possessed exceptional talent and classical vocal training, yet she quickly discovered that Broadway had few roles for a young Black actress who didn't fit the industry's narrow expectations. Rather than compromising who she was, she persevered, continuing to audition and trusting that the right opportunities would come. And just one year after graduation when she made her Broadway breakthrough in Carousel, earning her first Tony Award and launching one of the most remarkable careers in theater history.

Related: Quote of the Day: Poet Edgar Allan Poe on the Power of Creativity, Imagination and Daydreaming

Over the next three decades, McDonald rewrote the Tony Awards record books. She became the first performer to win Tony Awards in all four acting categories and remains the most decorated actor in Tony Awards history with six competitive Tony Awards. In 2025, she added another milestone when she received an unprecedented eleventh Tony Award nomination for her acclaimed performance in Gypsy. Beyond the stage, she has earned two Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, the National Medal of Arts, and recognition as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people. She also continues to reach new audiences through film and television, including her acclaimed role in HBO's The Gilded Age.

McDonald's impact extends far beyond her performances. She has been a passionate advocate for equality, LGBTQ+ rights, and young people experiencing homelessness, and in 2020 she co-founded Black Theatre United to advance racial equity and opportunity within the American theater community.

Most recently, on May 28, 2026, Harvard University awarded her an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree during its 375th Commencement ceremony. McDonald was one of five distinguished honorees recognized for their lifetime achievements and contributions to their fields, joining Geoffrey Hinton, Sir Noel Malcolm, Peggy Noonan, and Conan O'Brien in receiving Harvard's highest honor.

Quote of the Day by Audra McDonald

Throughout her career, McDonald has embraced the challenges that others might avoid, believing that the greatest growth often comes from stepping into the unknown. That philosophy is captured perfectly in today's quote:

"Whatever is the scariest is almost always what I end up choosing, because I figure that is where there is something to be learned."

Related: Quote of the Day: Psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross on Inner Light and Resilience Being ‘Like Stained-Glass Windows’

Deeper Meaning of Audra McDonald's Quote

Audra McDonald's observation—"Whatever is the scariest is almost always what I end up choosing, because I figure that's where there's something to be learned"—came during a thoughtful interview with the Academy of Achievement, where she was reflecting on how she sustains creativity after decades at the top of her profession. McDonald pointed to the willingness to embrace uncertainty.

She explained that she is constantly searching for work that stretches her beyond what feels comfortable. As an artist and a mother, she acknowledged the practical realities of earning a living, but whenever she has a choice between projects, she asks herself one question: Which one scares me the most? To McDonald, fear is often a signal that there is something new to discover. Growth, she believes, comes not from repeating what you already know you can do, but from taking on challenges that demand more than you think you're capable of giving.

McDonald went on to reveal that the real obstacle isn't the challenge itself—it's the fear of failure. She admitted that she often worries she will "fall on her face," yet she has learned that even when success isn't guaranteed, the experience itself becomes a teacher.

She pointed to her Tony Award-winning role as Bess in The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess as one of the most intimidating decisions of her career. At the time, she walked away from a successful television role and a steady paycheck because the opportunity frightened her. She feared the vocal demands, anticipated criticism, and questioned whether she was capable of meeting the role's immense expectations. But she accepted it because she believed that, regardless of the outcome, she would emerge a stronger artist.

Looking back, that philosophy has become a defining thread throughout McDonald's extraordinary career. Time and again, the roles that intimidated her the most became the performances that transformed her. Her words serve as a reminder that fear is not always a warning to retreat. Sometimes, it is an invitation to grow.

More Quotes from Audra McDonald

"I think some sort of creativity is within everybody. I think that’s just a part of the human spirit. I think there’s no human being on earth who is not creative in some way, because I think it’s just a part of our genetic makeup."

"Causes are close and personal to my heart for a myriad of reasons — I’m female, I’m a mother, I’m African-American, I’m an ally with the LGBT community and I’m a citizen of the human race. I also think about posterity and I think about when my children are grown, and my grandchildren are grown. And when they look back I hope that they would see that their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother spoke up and did what she could to help out in the world because I would want them to do the same."

"I can’t tell you how many young African-American women, students or whatnot, come up to me and say, “I watched you as a kid, and I remember thinking, If she’s doing Broadway, then I can do it."

"I’ve always used my voice to call attention to issues that I thought were important. I’ve been on the board of Covenant House for four or five years now, doing work with homeless youth, trying to give them shelter and education and food and dignity. With Black Theatre United, it’s about all of us saying, “We can’t sit on the sidelines. We can lament everything going on, but how can we as a group effect change in some grander way than just on our own?” As Sherrilyn Ifill said in that town hall, “Everybody has to use the tools in your hand.”

"I had big feelings. I had music in my heart. And so once I found theater, it was like I have a place to put my big feelings now."

’90s Metal Band Announces Exciting News 31 Years After Forming

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 2:30am

Washington, D.C. melodic death metal and metalcore band Darkest Hour has officially completed its 11th studio album, marking another major milestone 31 years after the band first formed in 1995.

The group confirmed that the record has been mixed, mastered, delivered and also revealed that fans can expect new music before the end of the year.

The update arrived on Wednesday through the band's official social media pages, where the members celebrated the completion of the album and thanked everyone who helped bring the project to the finish line.

"Our 11th - studio album is officially mixed, mastered, and delivered! Thank you so much to producer Mark Lewis for all his hard work and patience! Thank you so much to the incredible artist who created our new record cover and art…you all will hear about that soon!” the band wrote.

The band also encouraged supporters to continue following their official Patreon page for behind-the-scenes updates, exclusive merchandise, vinyl releases, meet-and-greet opportunities, handwritten lyrics, livestreams and other fan experiences.

The upcoming release will be the follow-up to 2024's Perpetual | Terminal. While the album's title and release date have not yet been announced, Darkest Hour confirmed that new music will arrive later this year.

Darkest Hour began work on the album earlier this year after returning to the studio with producer Mark Lewis, whose production credits include records by Whitechapel, Cannibal Corpse, Trivium, Killswitch Engage and The Black Dahlia Murder.

According to Metal Injection, when the recording sessions were first announced in April, guitarist Mike Schleibaum shared his excitement about working with Lewis.

"The idea of working with Mark is extremely exciting. He's been a part of many very successful and legendary metal records, and having his input and vision on all this is going to be important to making this very special album, unique, classic, and perfect!"

Lewis also looked forward to the collaboration, saying, "I'm extremely stoked to finally get in the studio with my old friends in Darkest Hour. Something that has been talked about for ages is happening at the right time. This album will crush!"

Lead vocalist John Henry also explained why creating the new album felt different, even after more than three decades as a band.

"It may seem that after 30+ years and 10 albums, it could be hard to find the inspiration to create something fresh and new feeling, but that couldn't be farther from the truth with this album. In an era where art feels threatened by technology, the answer for us was to keep it as organic as possible, and you can hear it.”

Darkest Hour Set for Fall 2026 Tour

Along with the album update, Darkest Hour is preparing to return to the stage this fall.

The band will launch a two-week North American tour alongside Fear Factory and Brotality. The run begins on Nov. 13 in Wichita, Kansas, and includes stops in Denver, Colorado Springs, Billings, Great Falls, Seattle, Portland, Boise, Fresno, San Diego, and Pomona before ending with two consecutive performances at the historic Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles on Nov. 28 and Nov. 29.

Darkest Hour has remained active since forming in Washington, D.C., in 1995. Over the years, the band has built a strong reputation through albums including Undoing Ruin, Deliver Us, The Eternal Return and Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora. Their 2024 album Perpetual | Terminal marked the beginning of a renewed partnership with MNRK Heavy, a relationship that continues with the upcoming 11th studio release.

Although fans are still waiting for the album title and official release date, the band's latest announcement confirms that the recording process is complete and that new Darkest Hour music is on the way before the year comes to a close.

Fantasy Fans Are Devastated: Netflix Is Bidding Farewell to This Highly Rewatchable Witch-and-Vampire Series

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 2:00am

Stop the scrolling on Netflix trying to find something to watch. You only have a few more weeks left to binge-watch the whole of A Discovery of Witches.

It’s one of the latest AMC shows set to depart from the streamer. What’s on Netflix notes that this show could end up staying if Netflix and AMC make a deal, but so far, most shows have left the giant.

All three seasons of A Discovery of Witches are set to depart on Aug. 19, 2026. That means Aug. 18 is the last day to watch, and it’s the same day as all eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead, so you’ll want to binge-watch a lot while you still have time.

A Discovery of Witches is based on the All Souls trilogy of books by Deborah Harkness. It follows the story of Diana Bishop, a reluctant witch with ties to the Salem Witch Trials. For years, she has avoided using her powers, but when she is able to get a book that has been missing to Witches, Demons, and Vampires for centuries, she ends up becoming a target.

One Vampire who would love to get his hands on the book is Matthew Clairemont, who is trying to figure out why his species is dying. He wants it to save his own, but others out there want it to destroy the other magical creatures in the world. Now, he needs to protect Diana from these threats coming toward her.

There is a small problem. Her blood makes him want her, and there is something else deep within that makes him need to protect her. However, the rules are that Witches and Vampires can’t be together.

Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode starred as Diana and Matthew. The cast also included Edward Bluemel, Steven Cree, Alex Kingston, and Owen Teale. During the second season, time travel is involved, as Diana and Matthew head back to the Elizabethan period before returning to the present day in Season 3.

The Shudder series is still available on AMC+, as well as other AMC Network platforms. The non-exclusive deal with Netflix was to help a number of AMC Network shows gain new followers — and new subscribers on the main platform. There is time for Netflix to strike up another deal, but AMC will want to take its content back. At least if you don’t get through all of A Discovery of Witches before it leaves Netflix, you can watch it on AMC+.

It is based on the book series. Each season followed each book, but there are creative liberties taken with each of the seasons, which have gained positive and negative comments from readers.

Country Star With Major No. 1 Hit Announces New Song

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 1:57am

Fans of Oliver Anthony have a new release to look forward to this month. The independent country-folk singer-songwriter announced that new music will arrive on July 21, sharing the news while celebrating his 34th birthday.

Anthony revealed the update in a video posted on Instagram. Alongside the clip, he wrote, "It’s been a good birthday. New Music coming July 21st. Doing Lemonade Days in Bluefield August 29th. Farmville at Longwood August 30th. Life is good."

The announcement marks Anthony's latest return to music after spending much of the past year away from social media and releasing only a small amount of new material.

View this post on Instagram

In the birthday video, Anthony thanked fans for their continued support and reflected on reaching another year.

"I have new music coming out on July 21st. I love you all. I really appreciate you."

While he confirmed the release date, Anthony did not say whether the project will be a single song, several tracks or a full album.

During the video, Anthony also spoke about other recent developments in his life. He told followers that he recently bought a church in West Virginia. Although the building still needs work, he said he hopes to hold a church service there in October.

Anthony also confirmed two live performances scheduled for the end of August. He is set to appear at Lemonade Days in Bluefield, West Virginia, on Aug. 29, followed by a show in Farmville at Longwood on Aug. 30.

The new music announcement comes after a quieter period for the Virginia native. He stepped away from social media for several months before returning in May, when he shared a message discussing algorithms, artificial intelligence and politics. He also reduced his live performances before gradually returning to the stage.

His upcoming July release will be his first new original music since 2025, when he released the songs "Only God Can Save Us Now" and "Scornful Woman." Before that, he had also shared a handful of live cover performances during 2026.

Anthony's name became known around the world in 2023 after "Rich Men North of Richmond" went viral online.

The acoustic performance, filmed outdoors in rural Virginia, quickly spread across social media before the song became available on streaming platforms. The independent release later debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Anthony the first artist ever to enter the chart at the top without any prior chart history.

Rather than signing with a major record label after his breakthrough, Anthony chose to remain independent. He has repeatedly said he prefers to move at his own pace instead of chasing mainstream fame.

That approach continued after the release of his debut album, Hymnal of a Troubled Man's Mind, in March 2024. Since then, Anthony has focused on releasing music on his own terms while limiting his public appearances.

The success of "Rich Men North of Richmond" has also allowed him to continue recording without changing the way he makes music. More than two years after the song's breakout success, it has accumulated more than 300 million streams, showing that interest in his work has continued beyond its viral moment.

Anthony, whose real name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford, adopted the stage name "Oliver Anthony" as a tribute to his grandfather. Before becoming a full-time musician, he worked industrial jobs in Virginia and North Carolina and began writing songs in 2021.

Will Wegmans Open on Fourth of July This Year?

Fri, 07/03/2026 - 1:39am

Between marinating the meat, slicing watermelon and making sure there's enough ice for everyone's drinks, Fourth of July preparations can feel like a race against the clock. That's why checking Wegmans' Fourth of July hours before heading out can save you from an unnecessary detour during the holiday.

Known for its extensive grocery selection, prepared foods, bakery favorites and fresh departments, Wegmans is a one-stop shop for everything from cookout staples to last-minute desserts. If Independence Day shopping is still on your to-do list, here's what to know before you grab your reusable bags and car keys.

Is Wegmans Open on Fourth of July?

Connecticut Post/Hearst Newspapers / Getty Images

Yes, Wegmans stores are expected to be open on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

That means shoppers can still swing by to stock up on burgers, hot dogs, buns, chips, drinks or anything else that didn't make it into the cart during the first grocery trip. It's also a convenient stop for fresh fruit trays, bakery desserts and prepared foods if you're hosting but don't want to cook everything from scratch.

With so many people firing up the grill or gathering with friends and family, it's not uncommon to realize you're missing one or two essentials. Having Wegmans open on the holiday makes those last-minute grocery runs a little easier.

What Are Wegmans' Fourth of July Hours?

Most Wegmans locations are expected to operate during their regular business hours, typically from 6 a.m. until midnight.

That gives shoppers plenty of time to squeeze in a grocery run before the grill gets going or after discovering a forgotten ingredient. Whether it's an extra bag of charcoal, more hamburger patties or another package of hot dog buns, there's still time to pick up those last-minute essentials.

Keep in mind that pharmacy hours may differ from the grocery store's operating hours and can vary by location. If you're planning to fill a prescription or speak with a pharmacist over the holiday, it's a good idea to call ahead.

While most stores are expected to follow their normal schedule, confirming your neighborhood Wegmans' hours can help you avoid an unnecessary trip. Spending a minute checking before you leave means you'll have more time to focus on the fireworks, family and food instead of worrying about whether the doors are open.

Is Trader Joe's Open on Fourth of July?

Yes, Trader Joe's is typically open on the Fourth of July. Unlike some grocery chains that close for major holidays, Trader Joe's generally remains open on Independence Day. This allows shoppers to pick up forgotten cookout supplies, refreshing beverages, fresh produce and popular appetizers before the celebrations begin.

Because many people wait until the last minute to shop, stores can become especially busy on the holiday. Visiting earlier in the day is often the best way to avoid larger crowds and ensure the items on your shopping list are still in stock. Seasonal favorites, grilling essentials and ready-to-serve desserts tend to sell quickly ahead of holiday gatherings.

What Are Trader Joe's Fourth of July Hours?

While Trader Joe's stores are usually open on the Fourth of July, they often operate with reduced holiday hours. Most locations traditionally close earlier than usual, with many stores ending business around 5 p.m. on Independence Day.

Since holiday hours can vary by location, it's always a good idea to confirm your neighborhood store's schedule before leaving home. Checking ahead can save time and help you avoid arriving after the store has closed.

If you're planning a festive meal, consider shopping early so you have plenty of time to grab everything from marinated meats and fresh vegetables to Trader Joe's signature dips, desserts and frozen appetizers. With a little preparation, you can enjoy your Fourth of July celebration without worrying about missing those important last-minute grocery items.

Whether you're hitting the road for a holiday getaway, planning a picnic with the family, or picking up a quick meal to bring to the fireworks, it's always a good idea to check restaurant hours before heading out. Is Chick-fil-A Open on Fourth of July? View this post on Instagram

Yes. Chick-fil-A restaurants are open on the Fourth of July, although holiday hours vary by location. Unlike holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, when Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed nationwide, Independence Day is not one of the chain's regularly scheduled closure dates. However, because each restaurant is independently operated, some locations may open later, close earlier, or offer modified hours for the holiday.

What Are Chick-fil-A's Fourth of July Hours?

Chick-fil-A does not publish one nationwide holiday schedule for every restaurant. Instead, individual operators determine their restaurant's Fourth of July hours, so opening and closing times can vary from one location to another.

Before making a trip, Chick-fil-A recommends checking your local restaurant's holiday hours in the Chick-fil-A app, on its website, the location's social media pages, or by contacting the restaurant directly.

If you're planning to order Chick-fil-A Catering for a cookout, picnic, or family gathering, it's also a good idea to place your order early and confirm pickup availability with your local restaurant. Catering options and pickup times may vary by location, especially during busy holiday weekends.

Whether you're craving a chicken sandwich, waffle fries, or a tray of nuggets to share, checking your neighborhood Chick-fil-A's Fourth of July hours ahead of time can help keep your Independence Day plans running smoothly.

Walmart’s 'Absorbent' $6 Cabana Stripe Beach Towel Is 'Perfect for Beach Days' and 'Poolside Lounging'

With temperatures on the rise, people are looking for easy ways to stay cool, and swimming continues to be a go-to option. Whether you’re planning a weekend down the shore, a lazy afternoon by the pool, or squeezing in a quick post-work dip, the small essentials matter: from sunscreen to a solid spot in the shade to, of course, a reliable towel. If your current ones are starting to feel scratchy, look faded, or have seen one too many summers, the Mainstays Cabana Stripe Cotton-Blend Beach Towel at Walmart is worth a closer look.

Dubbed by shoppers as “lightweight” and “absorbent,” each towel is just $6 — less than a cold drink from the concession stand or a popsicle at the boardwalk — making it one of the easiest and most affordable summer upgrades you can grab. Available in six vibrant colors, it’s got a nostalgic, vintage look to it that screams summertime.

Shop at Walmart

Made from a blend of 85% cotton and 15% recycled polyester, this towel balances absorbency and durability with a “super soft” feel, according to shoppers. The fabric is gentle on skin while still being absorbent enough to quickly dry off after a swim or dip in the water. Its classic cabana stripe design gives it that instantly recognizable, timeless beach look that fits right in at the shore, pool deck, park, or backyard.

Sized at 58 inches by 28 inches, it offers plenty of surface area for stretching out on the sand or lying poolside, while still folding down easily to slip into a beach bag or tote without taking up too much space. Lightweight in construction, it’s easy to carry from place to place, and reinforced side hems help minimize fraying so it can hold up through repeated use. A built-in hanging loop also makes it simple to air dry and store between uses.

Beyond beach and pool days, this towel easily transitions into other activities. It works just as well for gym sessions, whether you’re laying it across equipment or using it post-workout, and is also a solid pick for yoga, sports practices, or even outdoor workouts in the heat. It’s equally useful for picnics, festivals, camping trips, or road trips. Because it’s machine washable, care is simple. Wash cold with like colors on a delicate cycle and tumble dry low to keep it fresh and ready for repeat use.

Over 800 reviewers awarded these “durable” towels with a “classic” and “fresh” look a five-star rating, calling them “perfect for beach bays” and “poolside lounging.” One shopper wrote, “The stitching feels secure and well-finished, with no loose threads or fraying. The material is soft against the skin yet substantial enough to absorb water effectively.”

Others highlighted how easy they are to maintain. “After several washes, it still looks great and hasn’t lost softness,” another shopper shared.
