An extended release of what some are calling the "best song ever" is headed for airplay after it was dug up in the band's archives ahead of the 50th anniversary of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.

The late frontman's official Instagram account announced the thrilling news, teasing a series of "treasures from the white hot ‘70s era of the band."

First up is an extended version of "American Girl," which, despite failing to chart on the Hot 100 during its initial release on the band's self-titled debut album in 1976, went on to become a modern anthem.

The HiRes/spatial mix, which blends "the original multi-track tapes by long-time engineer Ryan Ulyate, and includes an extended, never-before-heard outro that was recently uncovered in the archives," is now available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, and more.

And if that wasn't enough to get fans raring to go (though it was), there are "more announcements and exclusives" to come.

Though it was slow to catch on for fans, only breaking the Bubbling Under chart with its 1994 rerelease—hitting No. 9—today many consider it to be "one of the greatest songs ever written ❤️❤️," with one boldly declaring it the "Best. Song. Ever."

The news of its extended release riled fans up, with one exclaiming that "TODAY IS AN AMAZING DAY."

While fans can likely all agree to be "here for anything and everything 💘🎸" that is to come, there's certainly an air of anticipation about it all.

Petty died in 2017 at the age of 66. He suffered from an overdose relating to a toxic combination of medications he was taking for emphysema, knee problems, and a fractured hip. Though he was rescusitated, he later died of multisystem organ failure.

A bit of mourning broke through the excitement, too, with one fan admitting, "I just consider myself fortunate to have seen him live a few times! Man I miss him 🙏!"

"Where did I leave that box of tissues 😍," another wondered.

Despite the song's failure to chart, it enjoyed decades of radio play and has been featured on many an iconic soundtrack, including Fast Times at Ridgemont High and The Silence of the Lambs. This once-flop has since been ranked as Petty's greatest song ever by Billboard, with the publication calling it "practically part of the American literary canon."

"...rock music just does not get more rousing," they added, noting that today, samples "barely even register, because it just feels like borrowing from rock’s own DNA at this point."

“I was able to put money into a savings account for the first time,” she tells BI. “I was more social because I didn't need to choose between buying drinks and paying for dinner. It was freeing, and I felt financially very comfortable and safe.”

As of now, multiple media outlets, including Celebrity Net Worth and Tuko News, reveal Franklyn’s estimated net worth to lie between $1.5 million and $2 million. The media personality's other forms of income include her social media accounts and her podcast, Sofia With An F, which she created in 2020.

Sofia Franklyn’s CHD Exit Explained

According to Franklyn, her departure from CHD was due to financial reasons: “after contract negotiations fell apart.” Cooper seemingly validated Franklyn’s sentiments in her Call Her Alex docuseries on Hulu, saying, “Sofia didn't want to take the deal, but I did, so I stayed."

The podcasting pair allegedly had an opportunity to own their IP address if they stayed with Barstool for another year, but Franklyn chose to exit the show. 

Although Cooper has yet to say anything more about Franklyn, including where they stand in terms of their friendship, Franklyn is becoming more candid about their relationship. “Within days, my job, my identity, and my income were completely gone,” Franklyn told the publication following her immediate detachment from CHD, adding, “My relationship with Alex was too.”

Eugene Levy honored his late friend of over five decades, and co-star, Catherine O'Hara in a heartfelt speech during the Canadian Screen Awards on Sunday.

"My friendship with Catherine O'Hara spanned 50 years, and then some, and it was a friendship I will cherish for the rest of my days," he said at the award show.

The 'Home Alone' icon died in January at age 71 due to a pulmonary embolism as the immediate cause, with rectal cancer as the underlying cause, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

"I first worked with Catherine in 1974 at the Second City Theater here in Toronto, and there was no denying she was an extraordinarily gifted young woman when it came to comedy. Getting laughs for her was second nature. She made it look easy, and that comedic gift was the gift that kept on giving on [Second City Television]," he continued.

Levy went on to list her roles on the Canadian sketch comedy show, known as SCTV, which included Lola Heatherton, Dusty Town, and Margaret Meehan.

"These are characters that will stand the test of time and continue to make people laugh for generations to come," Levy said, before referencing her Schitt's Creek character, Moira Rose and deeming the quirky matriarch "one of the most iconic characters in the history of television comedy."

Speaking in front of a Canadian audience, Levy naturally brought up the fact that she loved her "idyllic island cottage in Muskoka," and ultimately, "she made us proud to be Canadian."

"Catherine O'Hara was simply the best," Levy concluded.

Following her passing, tributes poured in notably from her co-stars from her storied career including Martin Short, Steve Martin, Tim Burton, and Macaulay Culkin.

After his decade-long career as a member of the Beatles, George Harrison released several solo hits, like "Got My Mind Set on You," "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)," and "Ding Dong, Ding Dong."

According to Far Out magazine, Harrison jotted down "Ding Dong, Ding Dong," off his 1974 album Dark Horse, in record time. The publication reported that Harrison discussed coming up with the tune while writing his memoir, I, Me, Mine, published in 1980. He explained his inspiration for the track was the inscriptions near his Victorian estate's fireplace and shed.

“‘Ding Dong, Ding Dong’ was the quickest one I ever wrote. It took me three minutes, except it took me four years of looking at the thing, which was written on the wall at my home, ‘Ring out the old, ring in the new. Ring out the false, ring in the truth,’ before I realised it was a hit song. It makes me laugh because it’s so simple. That song evaded me for four years," wrote Harrison, who died in 2001 at the age of 58.

Far Out also reported that Harrison shared the meaning of "Ding Dong, Ding Dong" in the 1980 memoir.

“Instead of getting stuck in a rut, everybody should try ringing out the old and ringing in the new… [People] sing about it, but they never apply it to their lives,” shared Harrison.

George Harrison Gave Details About Songwriting in a 1975 Interview

Harrison shared some insight into the technical aspects of writing a song in a 1975 interview with Dave Herman. According to Harrison, "some tunes need an intro to establish a certain mood before you start singing," while others "can come right in."

He also said he believed that some songs simply need to be longer than others to tell a complete story.

"As a songwriter sometimes, you lock in to a certain length of time just by trying to get the story over. It's like trying to tell a story that really needs to be told in 10 minutes, but, 'Okay, just tell it in two.' You may be able to, but you may have to sacrifice a lot of the minor details which contributed to how nice the story actually was in the end," said Harrison during the 1975 interview.

Brooke Shields has one episode of Friends to thank for "changing everything" in her career.

The model and actress, 61, opened up on the Monday, June 1 episode of The Bosstickspodcast about the unexpected impact of her guest role in the beloved sitcom's 1996 episode, "The One After the Superbowl" [sic].

In the post-Super Bowl XXX episode of the NBC sitcom, Shields appeared alongside fellow guest stars Chris Isaak, Julia Roberts, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Fred Willard, and Dan Castellaneta, playing a stalker who believed Joey (Matt LeBlanc) was actually the character he played on television.

Shields noted in Monday's podcast that she was "able to hold [her] own" in the "comedy gold" that was the episode alongside "the Julia Roberts of the world and people who were huge movie stars."

She even nailed one of the biggest laughs in the script, in which her character licks Joey's fingers—a moment that was nearly cut from the episode.

"At first, they didn't let me do it, and they said it makes me too crazy. And I said, 'I have to do it, please,'" the When Calls the Heartactress recalled. "At the last minute, we did one pass without it, and then the showrunner said, 'Hey, Shields, put it back in,' and that moment was just a very crazy moment for this character. She was just crazy."

It was that moment that Shields credits with changing her career trajectory forever, setting her up for her own series, Suddenly Susan, which premiered later that same year and ran through 2000.

"That sort of shock of seeing someone that had been sort of considered a supermodel kind of a thing and pristine and untouchable, and all of a sudden she's licking a guy's fingers, she's laughing like a crazy person, and they were like, 'Oh my god, what what is this? Like we haven't seen the likes of this,'" Shields said. "And it just changed everything. It got me my own television show, and it allowed me to really kind of delve in with comedy chops."

In 1976, Steve Miller Band released a song that would become one of the most recognizable tracks of the classic rock era.

"Take the Money and Run" never reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, but nearly 50 years later it remains a radio staple and one of the defining songs in the band’s catalog.

Written by Steve Miller, the song tells the story of two young outlaws, Billy Joe and Bobbie Sue, who embark on a crime spree before fleeing from the law. Combining humor, storytelling and an infectious groove, the track felt more like a miniature movie than a traditional rock song.

The song appeared on the blockbuster album Fly Like an Eagle, which helped transform the Steve Miller Band into one of the biggest acts of the decade. "Take the Money and Run" stood out because of its instantly recognizable guitar riff and singalong chorus, both of which helped make it a favorite on the radio. A mysterious death, wealthy suburban moms and simmering social rivalries are at the center of Barnes & Noble's latest book club selection.

The bookseller has chosen Hannah Selinger's debut novel "Valley of the Moms" as its Book Club Pick for June 2026, highlighting the thriller as one of the summer's most talked-about new releases.

Barnes & Noble describes the novel as "'Stepford Wives' meets 'Big Little Lies'" and praises its mix of "gossip, drama and a dead body." The retailer says the story follows a suburban community that begins to unravel after the mysterious death of a local mother.

Set in Hamilton, Massachusetts, the novel centers on Anna Plummer, a wife and mother who has grown increasingly frustrated with the unspoken rules governing life in her affluent town. When a dispute involving the local Parent Teacher Organization spirals out of control, tensions begin to simmer beneath the community's carefully polished surface.

One year later, Anna is found dead in the frozen Ipswich River.

Her husband, Denny, is left to piece together what happened while also confronting suspicions that he may have been involved in her death. Told through alternating perspectives and dual timelines, the novel gradually reveals the secrets, betrayals and hidden resentments that led to the tragedy.

Early reviews suggest readers can expect plenty of twists.

People called the novel "frighteningly realistic and deeply unhinged," while author Amanda Eyre Ward praised its "complex characters and a thrilling satiric bite." Booklist noted that the story will appeal to readers who enjoy complicated friendships, domestic drama and suspenseful storytelling.

After all, there are few things readers love more than a picturesque town filled with secrets. Especially when someone winds up dead.

The wellness space is full of promises—"magic cures" and "one-stop shops" for preventing chronic illness. It would be great if any of those claims held up, especially when it comes to cancer, a disease none of us want or would wish on anyone. But they don't, in part because cancer has no single cause.

"[Cancer] is usually the result of a combination of genetics, aging, lifestyle, environmental exposures and sometimes simple bad luck," explains Dr. Amar Rewari, MD, the chief of radiation oncology for Luminis Health, an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the co-host of Value Health Voices Podcast.

The information about how different products, like the ones we keep in our kitchens, may contribute to cancer risk is scary and overwhelming. But another oncologist points out that understanding these risks is actually empowering. Unlike certain risk factors, we can choose kitchen items and habits, such as diet and exercise.

"Unfortunately, we have no control over a family history of cancer and any genetic predispositions that may put us at risk of developing certain types of cancer," says Dr. Roshani Patel, MD, FACS, the breast program medical director and breast surgical oncologist at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center. "But we can control our lifestyle."

Dr. Rewari agrees, saying it's important to keep risk factors in perspective. "The biggest drivers of cancer risk are still things like smoking, obesity, alcohol use, UV exposure, poor diet and lack of screening," he says. "Household products are more about small, long-term exposures rather than major immediate dangers."

Still, they're worth considering in the short term. To help oncologists reveal the one kitchen item they are begging people to throw out to lower their cancer risks.

Oncologists Are Begging People To Throw Out This Common Kitchen Item

Three oncologists agree: It's time to throw out murky, cracked plastic food containers. These containers might contribute to a higher cancer risk for several reasons if you use them consistently, and it's best to avoid using them altogether.

"Cloudy, scratched or cracked plastic containers are usually signs the material is breaking down," explains Dr. Tingting Tan, MD, Ph.D., a medical oncologist at City of Hope. "One concern is that worn plastic may release more particles or chemical compounds into food, particularly when exposed to heat. Researchers are still studying the long-term effects of microplastics and chemical exposure, but many experts believe reducing unnecessary exposure is a reasonable precaution."

In addition to hand-washing plastic food containers in scalding-hot water or in the dishwasher, we may reheat leftovers in the microwave. Unfortunately, research suggests that habit may only raise cancer risk.

"Heat is one of the biggest factors because it can increase the movement of chemicals from plastic into food," Dr. Rewari says. "This is especially true with fatty foods, sauces, soups or foods heated for long periods."

Is there any plastic that's "microwave safe" from chemical leaching and microplastics?

"Even containers labeled 'microwave safe' are mainly tested to make sure they do not melt or become unsafe for basic use," he clarifies. "That does not necessarily mean zero chemical transfer occurs. The overall risk is probably small, but from a practical standpoint, heating food in glass or ceramic is a safer long-term habit."

If you have damaged, murky plastic food containers, you may be internally spiraling. We get it, but oncologists encourage a calmer approach. For starters: "Many people likely have murky plastic containers used for food storage and cooking and do not have cancer," Dr. Patel says.

Dr. Tan agrees, but says it's reasonable to think about alternatives. "[This] doesn’t mean people should fear every plastic container in their kitchen," she explains. "But when there are easy ways to reduce potentially worrisome exposures, especially around food and heat, they’re worth considering."

What To Do if You Have Plastic Food Containers

Besides not panic? Oncologists share it's a good idea to understand when it's time to ditch a plastic food container.

Dr. Rewari says it's time to replace plastic containers if they have:

• Cracks
• Deep scratches
• Cloudiness
• Loose lids
• Persistent odors that do not wash out

"Those changes suggest the plastic is degrading," he emphasizes.

After getting rid of the containers, you may need something else to store your food in. Dr. Tan suggests considering non-plastic alternatives.

"Glass containers are probably my favorite option because they’re durable, easy to clean and safe for reheating," she says. "Ceramic containers can also work well for certain foods. 3 Other Ways To Lower Cancer Risk Without Leaving Your Kitchen

Microplastics are scary and are still being investigated by scientists. Still, it's worth removing cracked and otherwise damaged plastic food containers from your kitchen. While you're in there, oncologists say that there are a few other steps you can take to lower your cancer risk.

1. Limit heavily processed and heavily charred foods

Dr. Rewari stresses that cooking methods are important. "Very high heat and heavy charring can create compounds that have been linked to cancer risk in laboratory studies," he notes. "You do not need to avoid grilling completely, but it is smart to avoid burning food regularly and to balance meals with fruits, vegetables and fiber-rich foods."

2. Keep your sweet tooth in check

Dr. Patel advises that women aim to have six teaspoons or less of added sugar daily, and men should limit their intake to nine teaspoons daily.

"Eating less sugar reduces inflammation and sugar spikes in the body, which can indirectly increase one’s cancer risk," she states. "We are fortunate that food labels list ‘added sugars.’ Try to stay away from those."

If your sweet tooth is feeling sour, Dr. Patel suggests foods with natural sugars. Think berries, citrus fruits and plain yogurt. "Even honey is OK in moderation," she says.

3. Pay attention to alcohol intake

The conversation about alcohol is evolving, including on red wine.

"Many people are surprised to learn alcohol is a known risk factor for cancer, and there is no scientifically proven 'safe' amount of drinking," Dr. Tan notes. "Even modest reductions in alcohol consumption can be a meaningful benefit for an individual’s overall long-term health."

Keflavík Airport, Iceland's main international gateway, has launched an innovative new program designed to turn airport waiting time into a cultural experience. Known as the Bless Programme, the initiative offers complimentary "micro tours" for departing passengers, giving travelers a final taste of Icelandic culture before boarding their flights.

The program officially launched in May 2026 and has been described by airport operator Isavia as the world's first airport-based cultural tour program. The name "Bless" comes from the Icelandic word used to say goodbye, making it a fitting send-off for visitors leaving the country.

The initiative was created to help travelers who may not have had enough time to experience every aspect of Iceland during their trip, while also making layovers and pre-flight waiting periods more engaging.

About the Keflavík Airport Bless Programme

Unlike traditional layover excursions that require passengers to leave the airport, the Bless Programme takes place entirely within Keflavík Airport. This allows travelers to participate without worrying about transportation, security lines, or the risk of missing their flights.

Each tour lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, making it ideal for passengers with a few hours to spare before departure. The tours are free of charge and led by Icelandic experts, artists, chefs, musicians, and cultural ambassadors.

The program currently features four themed experiences that showcase different aspects of Icelandic culture.

Iceland Through Food

Food lovers can join Iceland Through Food, which highlights some of the country's most iconic flavors. Guests visit airport restaurants and sample traditional Icelandic foods such as lamb, seafood, skyr yogurt, and the famous Icelandic hot dog. Along the way, guides explain the history and cultural significance of these dishes.

The food tour is hosted by Hafliði Halldórsson, a special chef to the President of Iceland and former manager of the Icelandic Culinary Team. Halldórsson has more than 20 years of experience specialising in local cuisine.

Iceland Through Drinks

For travelers interested in local beverages, Iceland Through Drinks offers tastings and stories centered on Icelandic drinking culture. The tour includes opportunities to sample products such as Brennivín, often referred to as Iceland's signature schnapps, along with Snorri (Icelandic Ale), the award-winning Gull beer (Icelandic Pale Ale), award-winning gin, an Icelandic cream liquor, and Icelandic red wine.

The drinks tour is hosted by Georg Leite, a bartender and the owner of Reykjavik's popular cocktail bar, Kaldi Bar.

Iceland Through Art

The Iceland Through Art tour introduces passengers to more than 20 works of Icelandic art and design displayed throughout the airport. Participants learn about the artists behind stained-glass installations, ceramic murals, and contemporary design pieces inspired by Iceland's dramatic landscapes and natural elements.

The art tour is hosted by Hlin Helga Gudlaugsdottir, the Head of a curated design series in Iceland called DesignTalks. Gudlaugsdottir is also a designer and consultant to companies on design thinking, innovation, and creative leadership.

Iceland Through Music

Music enthusiasts can experience Iceland Through Music, a tour that explores the country's rich musical heritage. Participants are introduced to Icelandic artists across a variety of genres, from rock and pop to classical music—including Mezzoforte, Björk, Of Monsters and Men, Sigurrós, Kaleo, and Laufey. The experience is designed to demonstrate how Iceland's unique geography and culture have influenced its musical traditions.

The music tour is hosted by Sigtryggur Baldursson, the former drummer of The Sugarcubes and a promoter of Icelandic music.

Longtime coupleLucas Bajerski, 28, and Natália Machado, 27, were walking through Amsterdam on May 25 when they crossed paths with Styles, 32, and his fiancée Zoë Kravitz. Bajerski said Styles and Kravitz were warm and curious about their story, and the meeting felt more like a chat between friends. Together since 2018, the pair already had tickets to his show the next night at Johan Cruijff Arena for his Together, Together tour. On the street, Bajerski let the singer in on a secret: he planned to propose.

A 'Golden' Proposal

Styles made sure the moment shined. The next evening, he dedicated his hit "Golden" to the couple, telling the arena, "Lucas and Natália, this one's for you." As the song started, Bajerski dropped to one knee and handed Machado a note that read, "You're So Golden. Casa Comigo?", the Portuguese phrase for "Will you marry me?" She said yes. Bajerski said he made his move the instant he heard the dedication, and cried.

Over 33 years after The Cranberries released their debut studio album, Everybody Else Is Doing It,So Why Can't We?, the iconic record just returned to the Billboard 200.

The 1993 alternative-rock album from The Cranberries re-entered the Billboard 200 this week, adding to its career total of 137 weeks spent on the albums chart.

According to Billboard rankings dated the week of June 6, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? returned to the chart in the No. 157 spot. The record previously peaked at No. 18 after its initial release in 1993.

Not only was it the first studio album from The Cranberries, but Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? is one of the defining albums from the band's discography, as it hosts some of their most successful tracks, like "Linger" and "Dreams."

"Linger," a beloved, sweeping ballad with dreamy vocals from the group's late front woman Dolores O'Riordan, is one of The Cranberries best-selling tracks ever. It reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994, which is the band's highest placement on that chart to date. "Linger" also reached No. 4 on the Alternative Airplay chart.

The same album also features "Dreams," which also saw success on the music charts in the '90s. It peaked at No. 42 on the Hot 100 and No. 7 on the Hot Rock Songs chart. The Cranberries' most successful hit, however, didn't arrive until 1994 with their No Need to Argue album, which featured the smash hit "Zombie."

"Zombie," spent 6 straight weeks on the Alternative Airplay chart in 1994, and also made Billboard's Greatest of All Time Alternative Songs chart, where it ranked at No. 46. Additionally, Billboard's 2018 ranking of The Cranberries 10 Best Songs placed "Zombie" at No. 3, while "Dreams" had the No. 1 spot and "Linger" was ranked No. 4.

Starbucks is officially returning its iconic Unicorn Frappuccino to menus this summer.

The international coffee giant teased the drink's big comeback earlier this year, offering it exclusively at Coachella Music Festival in the Indio, Calif., this past April. The last time fans saw it before that was in 2017, back when the frapp first hit menus for what was supposed to be a few weeks, but its limited supply disappeared faster than anyone could have expected.

McFerrin entered with $32,400 and a lock on the game. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, he agered $16,799 and answered correctly, bringing his final total to $49,199. Reyes entered with $5,400, the lowest DJ score of the three, went all-in, and doubled his money to $10,800 with a correct answer, taking second place. 

Madeira’s $7,800 went down to $4,799 with an incorrect answer and wager of $3,001, landing her in third place for the day.

McFerrin will be back on Wednesday for his third shot.

James Wilkie Broderick, the son of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, is showing off his stuff in a new book.

Broderick, 23, shared new pictures from a photo shoot with photographer Brad Walsh. Wearing a variety of outfits, including a black tank, the celebrity son, who graduated from college last year, made it clear he's all grown up these days.

"So dope!! Thank you @bradwalsh ❤️," James captioned the photo set. In the comments, his mother joined in, beaming with pride.

"Ah handsome. And happy. Xxx, mama," Parker commented.

Walsh noted on his own page that the photos will be included in his forthcoming book FELLA: IMAGES OF MEN.

"Honestly, of all the pieces of work I’ve done, that I’ve put my heart and soul into—blood, sweat and tears—the Lip Sync Battle is the thing that everyone brings up. It’s never Spider-Man, it’s never any of my other movies. It’s always Lip Sync Battle."
