Calling all Van Halen die-hards. 

A long-rumored tribute project honoring the late Eddie Van Halen is officially in the works. Described as highly anticipated and deeply emotional, the passion project is being built from unreleased recordings by one of rock's influential guitarists. While fans are still waiting for its release, though, there’s already another way to celebrate the moment (details way below).

According to Guitar World, the still-untitled EVH project is being shaped by Toto guitarist Steve Lukather and Van Halen drummer Alex Van Halen, who told the outlet that the record is a heartfelt sendoff to the legendary guitarist. Lukather also emphasized that the project is not about commercial gain, but about “love of the guys.” 

A longtime pal of Eddie's, Lukather was personally chosen by Alex to help guide the honorary record, which was reportedly close to completion before Eddie’s death in 2020. And even though Lukather is a guitar legend in his own right, he confirmed he’s not playing a single chord on the album.

“These are finished tracks with Ed and Al,” Lukather said, “and Ed’s playing bass on a lot of it. That’s all I can say right now because it’s a much bigger picture, and it’s Alex’s story to tell.”

Lukather added that the material is fully realized, pushing back against any notion it is unfinished or assembled from scraps: “If you think this is a bunch of throwaway crap that we’re trying to Mickey Mouse together to suck the dollar out of poor, unsuspecting Van Halen fans, it’s not,” he said.

As anticipation builds for the ultimate tribute album already generating major interest across classic rock news, EVH legacy coverage, and posthumous rock releases, fans can also take part in a separate collaboration.

Teaming with Ultimate Classic Rock, the band is giving away a signed edition of their double-vinyl album that releases thisFriday, June 5. One lucky winner will receive a vinyl edition of Live in New Haven, CT 1986, complete with post-David Lee Roth frontman Sammy Hagar’s John Hancock and a collectible vinyl slipmat featuring the classic Hagar-era Van Halen logo. 

The double live album captures the band’s “powerhouse lineup of Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony during the legendary 5150 Tour,” recorded live at the New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum back in August 1986. 

For fans who don’t win the giveaway, the album will also be available for purchase through the band’s official store. Either way, it’s a reminder that even decades later, the legacy of Eddie Van Halen and the era he helped define will live on forever.

Ziggy Marley, the eight-time Grammy Award-winning reggae star and son of music legend Bob Marley, will hit the road this fall alongside Southern rock powerhouse Gov’t Mule for a newly announced 2026 co-headlining trek across the United States.

The 16-date outing, titled the Dreaming the Same Dream Tour, was officially announced Friday and will bring together two acclaimed acts from different musical worlds. 

According to Marley's official website, the tour begins on Sept. 23 at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City and continues through the Southeast before wrapping up with a series of Texas performances in October.

Joining Marley and Gov’t Mule on the road will be English country-soul artist YOLA, who will perform special DJ sets each night.

The tour takes its name from “Dreaming the Same Dream,” a song co-written by Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes and Ziggy Marley. The track originally appeared on the 2012 Warren Haynes Band release Live at the Moody Theater.

“I’m really looking forward to the tour with Ziggy Marley,” shared Haynes in a press release, according to Live for Live Music. “We’ve known each other a long time and have shared the stage a few times but never done a tour together. There’s definitely an overlap between the two audiences, but I think a lot of Mule fans will be hearing Ziggy for the first time and a lot of Ziggy fans will be hearing Mule for the first time, which is great.”

Marley also expressed his excitement about the upcoming run.

“It’s gonna be a great jam session being on tour with Warren and the crew,” added Marley. “I’m looking forward to the vibes.”

The newly announced tour reunites two artists whose friendship and musical connection stretches back years. While Marley is best known for carrying forward the reggae legacy established by his father, Bob Marley, Gov’t Mule has built a devoted following since its formation in 1994 under the leadership of guitarist, singer and songwriter Warren Haynes.

Marley has enjoyed a successful solo career after first rising to fame with Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. Across his career, he has earned eight Grammy Awards and remains one of reggae’s most recognized voices.

Gov’t Mule, meanwhile, has become a staple of the Southern rock and jam-band scene. The group released its most recent studio album, Peace… Like a River, in 2023 and continues to tour extensively.

Artist fan club pre-sales begin June 3 at 12 p.m. ET. Local venue pre-sales follow on June 4 at 10 a.m. local time, while general ticket sales start June 5 at 10 a.m. local time.

Gov’t Mule will also offer several VIP packages, including the Ultimate Guitar Player Package, Dreaming Out Loud VIP Experience and Traveling Tune VIP Experience.

The tour will also support humanitarian efforts in Jamaica. Organizers announced that $2 from every ticket sold will be donated to Food For The Poor Jamaica to assist relief and rebuilding projects following Hurricane Melissa.

The charity supports food assistance, clean water access, medical care, shelter needs and long-term community recovery efforts across the island.

During the Tuesday, June 2 episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, the former first daughter, 44, and Sheinelle Jones, 48, discussed nicknames between family members.

"I'm not a nickname-y type person," Jones admitted, to which Bush Hager said of her husband, "He used to call me Shiny. He'll call me, like, babe, honey."

That's when Bush Hager revealed, "And sometimes—and it's become a problem, and it's something that we need help with—we call each other Mommy and Daddy sometimes."

After the audience gasped and groaned, she replied, "I know."

Jones responded, "No, I actually am gonna give you grace because I would sometimes say, 'Well, Dad, da da da,'" of speaking to her children about their father. (Jones shares three kids, Uche Jr., Kayin, 16, and twins Uche and Clara, 11, with her late husband, Uche Ojeh, who died at 45 in May 2025 after a battle with brain cancer.)

Meanwhile, Bush Hager gave more context, pointing out that "it's on their behalf" of using "mom" or "dad" in conversations with their children.

Nine years ago today, All Time Low released their seventh studio album, Last Young Renegade, a career-defining record which saw the beloved 2000s rock band soar high on music charts.

"We tried a lot of new things on this album, all within the context of what we love so much about All Time Low," singer Alex Gaskarth said of the album, per Alternative Press. Last Young Renegade steered in a different direction to the band's seven previous albums, while still remaining undeniably All Time Low. The punchy 2017 release enjoyed plenty of commercial success, reaching No. 9 on theBillboardHot 200 in the U.S. and No. 34 on the Official Albums Chart in the U.K. "Dirty Laundry," the record's lead single, peaked at No. 1 on the UK Rock & Metal Singles chart.

In October 2025, the band released their 10th album, Everyone's Talking!, and embarked on a mammoth world tour. He also warns against "over-texturizing," which might seem like a good way to create movement but can actually remove too much weight and make thinning hair appear even sparser.

Instead, Ballance says "softness is usually key," whether that means softer outlines, gentle movement or shapes that still feel sophisticated without looking overly rigid. The most flattering bobs tend to have a lived-in, effortless quality to them—nothing too blunt, too choppy or too aggressively styled.

Most fans know "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" as one of Phil Collins' most iconic songs. Fewer may know that its Oscar nomination led to one of the most cringe-inducing moments in Academy Awards history.

Collins' 1984 emotional power ballad, written during a painful divorce, sat in a drawer for a couple years. "It was written around the same time as 'In the Air Tonight'," he explained to Rolling Stone, "but I discarded it." Then director Taylor Hackford approached Collins about contributing a song to the soundtrack for his forthcoming film Against All Odds, a romantic thriller starring Jeff Bridges and Rachel Ward.

"I was really hot at the time," Collins recalled, "and they said, 'Have you got a song for this movie of ours?' I said, 'I’m not able to do it on the road, but I have a demo of this ballad.' It was basically like saying, 'Here’s $10 million. Would you want it?'"

So Collins pulled out his old heartbreak demo, finished the lyrics to match the tone of the film, and recorded it. The song that had been stuffed in a drawer for years became his first American No. 1.

In February 1984, the soft rock hit was released in the U.S. as the lead single for the Against All Odds film soundtrack and debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 the same month. The movie hit theaters in March 1984, and by April, Collins' track hit No. 1, where it remained for three weeks. The song went on to win the 1985 Grammy Award for "Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male" and was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for "Best Original Song." And here's where things got exceptionally awkward for Collins.

Even after Collins rerouted his Australian tour to attend the 1985 Academy Awards ceremony, expecting to perform his nominated song like the other four nominees, producers denied him the performance. And even worse, Collins had to sit in the audience during the award show ceremony and watch dancer Ann Reinking mostly lip-sync his song around a choreographed number with dancer Gary Chryst.

“I was sitting in my seat and poor old Ann Reinking, who was singing the song, came in,” Collins recalled to Playboy, "She knew I was there and knew about all the fuss that had gone on about it. And … well, she may be a dancer, but she can’t sing. She was awful.”

Collins' song ultimately lost the Oscar to "I Just Called to Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder, too.

More than 40 years later, the song holds its radio presence on classic rock stations, and to date, the song has over 671 million streams on Spotify. In 1999, Mariah Carey recorded her own version of the song for her album Rainbow. In 2000, she released a second version, featuring new vocals by Irish pop group Westlife.

A torch song—written from personal heartbreak, stuffed in a drawer for a couple years, and then rescued by a filmmaker—got dragged into one of Hollywood's most awkward nights, and the lasting legacy of "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" has outlasted all of it.

America’s favorite little brother is celebrating 78 years. 

Jerry Mathers, the child star who helped define television in the 1950s and ’60s as the title character of Leave It to Beaver, was welcomed into millions of homes through film and television for decades. And today, the actor, philanthropist, and longtime cultural figure remains a nostalgic touchstone, with his warm and familiar smile a reminder of simpler times.

Happy birthday to actor Jerry Mathers.

Mathers got his early start in entertainment with small television appearances and minor film roles, including his first credited role as a trick-or-treater in a 1952 episode of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. His big break came in 1957 with the suburban sitcom that would go on to score two Emmy nominations.

As Theodore “The Beaver” Cleaver, Mathers grew up onscreen in a series that explored the everyday lessons of childhood, from making mistakes to learning from attentive parents. Before long, he became one of television’s defining stars before under the age of 10. 

From 1957 to 1963, Leave It to Beaver idealized American childhood, helping shape the blueprint for the family sitcom. Mathers’ face became synonymous with innocence, humor, and classic TV. He even became a merchandising pioneer as the first child actor to secure a contract granting him a percentage of a television show's merchandising revenue.

In the '80s, Mathers reprised his iconic role as The Beav in The New Leave It to Beaver, which ran for five years. Beyond the Cleavers, he appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble With Harry (1955), made his Broadway debut in Hairspray (2007), cameo’d on Married… With Children (1991) and Diagnosis: Murder (1999), and worked on films including Better Luck Tomorrow (2002). 

Now 78, Mathers is still active in the public, making appearances and engaging with fans. A University of California, Berkeley philosophy graduate, Air Force veteran, and diabetes awareness  advocate, Mathers also now runs a Leave It to Beaver-themed merchandise shop online that keeps his legacy alive for new generations of fans. 

And somewhere amid all the hullabaloo, that same familiar face still lingers. We can't help but think, Gee, Wally, that’s just swell.

Last season Boston Dynamics brought their dancing robot dogs to America’s Got Talent for several synchronized dance routines, making it into the quarterfinals before being eliminated.

For Season 21, Unitree is introducing human-like robots who perform along with a 26-year-old male dancer from Suchan, China, to “Abracadabra” by Lady Gaga.

“I think no one comes here that doesn’t crave victory,” says the dancer, Yufei Wu.

“That was so freaky,” Mel B commented.

The performance by the Unitree robots went off without a hitch, unlike last year’s Boston Dynamics, so, obviously, the technology for robots as performers is improving.

“They don’t look human, but they’re all staring at me right now,” Simon Cowell says. “That was insane. Nuts, but brilliant.”

Then Sofia added, “I’ve never seen anything like this because usually the robots are very weird. These ones have rhythm. It was like watching people dance and you are amazing, the way you dance is spectacular.”

Then Mel B asked, “Do your metal friends have names?”

The answer was yes. The robot to the right of Yufei Wu was named Jackie because he really likes kung-fu, which Jackie demonstrated.

Mel B went on, “I found this fascinating. I do find it a little bit freaky. They all knew the choreography. If anyone was out of sync it was you because they were all perfect. I loved it.”

It was no surprise when the votes were cast that it was four yeses.

Most fans assume the rock song "Rosanna" by Toto was written for the actress who shares its name—and who also happened to be hanging out with the band at the exact time the song was written. The full story behind one the biggest '80s hits is more interesting than that.

David Paich (keyboards, vocals) and Jeff Porcaro (drums) were two of L.A.'s most in-demand session musicians before they formed Toto with David Hungate (bass), Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals), Steve Porcaro (keyboards, vocals), and Bobby Kimball (vocals). Paich had already co-written six songs on Boz Scaggs' 1976 multi-platinum album Silk Degrees, too, so by 1982, Toto was at its peak.

Paich says the pop rock song is based on a mashup of young women he knew. “'Rosanna' is about three girls I knew, all rolled into one,” he explained to Louder. So the song was written, but he hadn't figured out the song character's name. Then came along actress Rosanna Arquette, who was dating Steve at the time. “After I met Rosanna Arquette," Paich says, "I just stole her name and stuck it on there.”

“I was looking for a title and was singing the chorus ‘Meet you all the way’ when she walked into the studio," he explained to news.com.au. "She was cuter than ever and I had a crush on her," Paich admitted, "and as she walked out, I just finished the line with ‘Rosanna’."

Over the years, there have been varying stories about who the true muse is behind the song. In the early '80s, Arquette reportedly claimed that the song was about her. But Kimball refuted that, saying, “She was just starting her career, and the song was so big that she went on several talk shows and said it was about her. But I can tell you that it wasn’t. David’s line was always that he just used the name because it fit into the song.”

Regardless of who said what and when, everyone seems to be on the same page about it nowadays. Earlier this year, Arquette told People that she believes Paich borrowed her name. “I was around them all the time," she said. "They were wonderful musicians.”

Paich concurred: The name inspiration was absolutely Arquette's. “It is not completely about her, but I met her at the time she was dating my best friend," he said.

The name "Rosanna" definitely fits the chorus perfectly, but it's the magic of the songwriting and the music that truly made the song a hit. From the upbeat intro with its opening lyrics, "All I wanna do when I wake up in the morning is see your eyes, Rosanna, Rosanna" and Jeff's now-legendary "half-time shuffle" drum pattern, inspired by Steely Dan and John Bonham to the added horn ensemble, and dual vocal harmonies, the song is something special. In fact, Paich called the song "the ultimate Toto track, where everybody had a chance to shine."

"Rosanna" was released in the U.S. on March 31, 1982, as the lead single from their acclaimed Toto IV album. By April 17, 1982 the rock song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, and by July 3, it peaked at No. 2. The song remained on the charts for 23 weeks and went onto win the Grammy Award for "Record of the Year" in 1983.

Four decades later, "Rosanna" remains an enduring classic rock radio staple and has over 496 million streams on Spotify to date. The name "Rosanna" became so tied to Arquette she said, “People come up to me about that all the time.” 

The classic rock song is named after a person it isn't about. David Paich needed a name that fit, and one walked right through the studio door. Porcaro and Arquette broke up not long after the song was released. "Rosanna" is still going strong after more than 40 years.

An extended release of what some are calling the "best song ever" is headed for airplay after it was dug up in the band's archives ahead of the 50th anniversary of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.

The late frontman's official Instagram account announced the thrilling news, teasing a series of "treasures from the white hot ‘70s era of the band."

First up is an extended version of "American Girl," which, despite failing to chart on the Hot 100 during its initial release on the band's self-titled debut album in 1976, went on to become a modern anthem.

The HiRes/spatial mix, which blends "the original multi-track tapes by long-time engineer Ryan Ulyate, and includes an extended, never-before-heard outro that was recently uncovered in the archives," is now available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, and more.

Though it was slow to catch on for fans, only breaking the Bubbling Under chart with its 1994 rerelease—hitting No. 9—today many consider it to be "one of the greatest songs ever written ❤️❤️," with one boldly declaring it the "Best. Song. Ever."

The news of its extended release riled fans up, with one exclaiming that "TODAY IS AN AMAZING DAY."

Petty died in 2017 at the age of 66. He suffered from an overdose relating to a toxic combination of medications he was taking for emphysema, knee problems, and a fractured hip. Though he was rescusitated, he later died of multisystem organ failure.

Despite the song's failure to chart, it enjoyed decades of radio play and has been featured on many an iconic soundtrack, including Fast Times at Ridgemont High and The Silence of the Lambs. This once-flop has since been ranked as Petty's greatest song ever by Billboard, with the publication calling it "practically part of the American literary canon."

Since exiting the podcast in 2020, Franklyn's biggest shift has been financial. The former CHD co-host mentioned her financial security “disappeared seemingly overnight.”

To Franklyn, the change was jarring, considering her “day-to-day financial stress evaporated” while the podcast was ongoing. 

“I was able to put money into a savings account for the first time,” she tells BI. “I was more social because I didn't need to choose between buying drinks and paying for dinner. It was freeing, and I felt financially very comfortable and safe.”

As of now, multiple media outlets, including Celebrity Net Worth and Tuko News, reveal Franklyn’s estimated net worth to lie between $1.5 million and $2 million. The media personality's other forms of income include her social media accounts and her podcast, Sofia With An F, which she created in 2020.

Sofia Franklyn’s CHD Exit Explained

According to Franklyn, her departure from CHD was due to financial reasons: “after contract negotiations fell apart.” Cooper seemingly validated Franklyn’s sentiments in her Call Her Alex docuseries on Hulu, saying, “Sofia didn't want to take the deal, but I did, so I stayed."

The podcasting pair allegedly had an opportunity to own their IP address if they stayed with Barstool for another year, but Franklyn chose to exit the show. 

Although Cooper has yet to say anything more about Franklyn, including where they stand in terms of their friendship, Franklyn is becoming more candid about their relationship. “Within days, my job, my identity, and my income were completely gone,” Franklyn told the publication following her immediate detachment from CHD, adding, “My relationship with Alex was too.”

Eugene Levy honored his late friend of over five decades, and co-star, Catherine O'Hara in a heartfelt speech during the Canadian Screen Awards on Sunday.

"My friendship with Catherine O'Hara spanned 50 years, and then some, and it was a friendship I will cherish for the rest of my days," he said at the award show.

The 'Home Alone' icon died in January at age 71 due to a pulmonary embolism as the immediate cause, with rectal cancer as the underlying cause, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

"I first worked with Catherine in 1974 at the Second City Theater here in Toronto, and there was no denying she was an extraordinarily gifted young woman when it came to comedy. Getting laughs for her was second nature. She made it look easy, and that comedic gift was the gift that kept on giving on [Second City Television]," he continued.

Levy went on to list her roles on the Canadian sketch comedy show, known as SCTV, which included Lola Heatherton, Dusty Town, and Margaret Meehan.

"These are characters that will stand the test of time and continue to make people laugh for generations to come," Levy said, before referencing her Schitt's Creek character, Moira Rose and deeming the quirky matriarch "one of the most iconic characters in the history of television comedy."

Levy, who mentioned "she was the one person I spent the most time working with over our 50 year careers," starred opposite O'Hara on the beloved sitcom that ran from 2015-2020 and also starred Levy's son Dan Levy.

Speaking in front of a Canadian audience, Levy naturally brought up the fact that she loved her "idyllic island cottage in Muskoka," and ultimately, "she made us proud to be Canadian."

"Catherine O'Hara was simply the best," Levy concluded.

Following her passing, tributes poured in notably from her co-stars from her storied career including Martin Short, Steve Martin, Tim Burton, and Macaulay Culkin.

After his decade-long career as a member of the Beatles, George Harrison released several solo hits, like "Got My Mind Set on You," "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)," and "Ding Dong, Ding Dong."

According to Far Out magazine, Harrison jotted down "Ding Dong, Ding Dong," off his 1974 album Dark Horse, in record time. The publication reported that Harrison discussed coming up with the tune while writing his memoir, I, Me, Mine, published in 1980. He explained his inspiration for the track was the inscriptions near his Victorian estate's fireplace and shed.

“‘Ding Dong, Ding Dong’ was the quickest one I ever wrote. It took me three minutes, except it took me four years of looking at the thing, which was written on the wall at my home, ‘Ring out the old, ring in the new. Ring out the false, ring in the truth,’ before I realised it was a hit song. It makes me laugh because it’s so simple. That song evaded me for four years," wrote Harrison, who died in 2001 at the age of 58.

Far Out also reported that Harrison shared the meaning of "Ding Dong, Ding Dong" in the 1980 memoir.

“Instead of getting stuck in a rut, everybody should try ringing out the old and ringing in the new… [People] sing about it, but they never apply it to their lives,” shared Harrison.

George Harrison Gave Details About Songwriting in a 1975 Interview

Harrison shared some insight into the technical aspects of writing a song in a 1975 interview with Dave Herman. According to Harrison, "some tunes need an intro to establish a certain mood before you start singing," while others "can come right in."

He also said he believed that some songs simply need to be longer than others to tell a complete story.

"As a songwriter sometimes, you lock in to a certain length of time just by trying to get the story over. It's like trying to tell a story that really needs to be told in 10 minutes, but, 'Okay, just tell it in two.' You may be able to, but you may have to sacrifice a lot of the minor details which contributed to how nice the story actually was in the end," said Harrison during the 1975 interview.

Brooke Shields has one episode of Friends to thank for "changing everything" in her career.

The model and actress, 61, opened up on the Monday, June 1 episode of The Bosstickspodcast about the unexpected impact of her guest role in the beloved sitcom's 1996 episode, "The One After the Superbowl" [sic].

In the post-Super Bowl XXX episode of the NBC sitcom, Shields appeared alongside fellow guest stars Chris Isaak, Julia Roberts, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Fred Willard, and Dan Castellaneta, playing a stalker who believed Joey (Matt LeBlanc) was actually the character he played on television.

Shields noted in Monday's podcast that she was "able to hold [her] own" in the "comedy gold" that was the episode alongside "the Julia Roberts of the world and people who were huge movie stars."

She even nailed one of the biggest laughs in the script, in which her character licks Joey's fingers—a moment that was nearly cut from the episode.

"At first, they didn't let me do it, and they said it makes me too crazy. And I said, 'I have to do it, please,'" the When Calls the Heartactress recalled. "At the last minute, we did one pass without it, and then the showrunner said, 'Hey, Shields, put it back in,' and that moment was just a very crazy moment for this character. She was just crazy."

It was that moment that Shields credits with changing her career trajectory forever, setting her up for her own series, Suddenly Susan, which premiered later that same year and ran through 2000.

"That sort of shock of seeing someone that had been sort of considered a supermodel kind of a thing and pristine and untouchable, and all of a sudden she's licking a guy's fingers, she's laughing like a crazy person, and they were like, 'Oh my god, what what is this? Like we haven't seen the likes of this,'" Shields said. "And it just changed everything. It got me my own television show, and it allowed me to really kind of delve in with comedy chops."
