When you hear about Netflix Originals, there’s the misconception that they will remain on the streamer forever. However, in recent years, we’ve seen that not be the cast, and Between is the latest original series to get quietly removed from the platform.

Between was a Canadian series that ran for two seasons. In Canada, it aired on CityTV, but outside of the country, it became a Netflix Original after the streamer bought the licensing rights. What’s on Netflix notes that the cult sci-fi thriller will leave the platform on July 1, 2026.

Why Is Netflix Removing ‘Between?’

If something is an original, how can it leave the platform? There are a couple of reasons for this. One will be the agreement set when Netflix acquired the licensing rights for the global release. Another will be due to viewership.

What’s on Netflix confirms that this is linked to the co-production licensing agreement, which lasts for 10 years. As the second season of the series dropped in July 2016, the 10-year agreement has come to an end. Where it will go next is uncertain, as the rights will revert back to CityTV’s owner, Rogers.

It doesn’t help that Between was one of those “ghost cancellations” that TV shows see now and then. After two seasons and a major cliffhanger, there was never any word about a renewal from either Netflix or CityTV. In the end, it was assumed to be canceled, as lead actress Jennette McCurdy, from iCarly fame, stepped away from acting.

Is ‘Between’ Worth the Binge-Watch Before It Leaves Netflix?

The two-season series only has 12 episodes, making it an easy binge-watch before it leaves the streamer on July 1. The last full day to watch the show will be June 30, 2026, so you’ll want to keep that in mind.

While it didn’t fare well with the critics, it did amass a cult following. The series follows the people of a small town called Pretty Lake. When a mysterious disease kills everybody over the age of 21, the town is quarantined and effectively left to fend for itself. It leads to government conspiracies, a Lord of the Flies-style of storytelling as teenagers figure out how to navigate survival.

Just be aware of the cliffhanger ending, as it’s clear there was the intention to continue the story before it was quietly forgotten about.

Carey Means is a talented voice actor who is best known for his work on the Cartoon Network series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. He plays Frylock, one of the three protagonists of the show, which has over 140 episodes. Means has also appeared in the The Brak Show and Welcome to the Wayne, in addition to performing in many different musicals and plays.

In 2022, Carey was hospitalized with congestive heart failure, which has made it difficult for him to work. Earlier this week, the actor posted to Facebook, saying, "Homeless! Please Help!! Our rent went up, and we have to move. We have no money and no credit... Every little bit helps."

Carey and his wife, Leah, have set up a GoFundMe page. On it, they explained that they have been selling plushies based on characters from the show.

The page says, “We started this business with money that Carey got from conventions and used a sewing machine I already had. I started sewing the plushies a year ago or so, I can't even remember how long. We only recently became an LLC because of hitting a certain amount through our business software, so had to go ahead and register with the state. The money from this gofundme is really for keeping the lights on, internet, and food. I make maybe 20-30 dollars on each toy I make, if that. I know I need to keep the prices low to makes sure that people can afford them. This isn't a great way to make money, this is really a work of love. If however, I succeed at this and grow the business more, maybe it will become something great.”

Leah also added that she works a "regular" job on top of selling plushies, and that Carey has been attending conventions and looking into disability for his heart failure.

Many fans showed their support in the comments of his social media post, with one suggesting, “Start a podcast with the other guys from the show. Fans would LOVE to hear the characters just riffing about stuff.” Another said, "You should start a Cameo. People would definitely book you a lot."

Carey does have a Cameo, which states, "Their personalized videos are a hilarious treat for devoted ATHF lovers, with Carey often incorporating iconic quotes and references to the show."

The GoFundMe has already exceeded the goal of $18,000. It is currently up to $21,000.

Phoebe Bridgershas announced The Lost Tour with stops in major cities across North America, the U.K., and Europe.

The "Motion Sickness" hitmaker made the much-anticipated announcement via an Instagram post on June 5. "I’m going on tour no phones," the musician wrote in the caption.

It's the singer's first solo tour since she embarked on her The Reunion Tour in 2023.

The U.S. leg of "The Lost Tour" kicks off in Indianapolis, ID, on Sept. 15, visiting New York City, Vancouver, Austin, Chicago, and many more, and commences on Oct. 31 in Inglewood, CA. Support will come from indie rock artist Alex G, her "very special guest."

Over in the U.K. and Europe, the tour begins in Dublin, Ireland, on Nov. 23 and ends in Stockholm, Sweden, on Dec. 12. Stops along the way include Manchester, London, Glasgow, and Paris. Isaac Wood is joining Bridgers across the pond.

The much-anticipated arena tour comes at the tail end of Bridgers' run of surprise acoustic shows at both intimate and larger venues across America. On June 4 at the Madison Square Garden show, the musician teased an upcoming tour that would be a phone-free environment.

Fans can register for the Official Artist Presale for all dates. Only one registration is permitted per person. The presale will be split into two separate days—June 9 and 10—in an effort to reduce queue traffic. Leave it to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to turn a workout video into an Arrested Development callback. After the secretary's denim-clad gym session went viral, spawning endless Tobias Fünke comparisons online, actor/comedian David Cross embraced the joke — while taking a not-so-subtle shot at the politician behind it.

"I mean, it's no crazier than any of the other s—t he's done," Cross told Variety alongside actor/comedian Bob Odenkirk. "And I'm not the first person to make this observation, but when you go to the gym and there's a guy working out in jeans, to me, that's weird immediately. That's a weird thing! He seems like that kind of guy. He seems disturbed on some level."

The post Cross is referring to shows RFK standing alongside musician Kid Rock, both shirtless, wearing jeans. He captioned the post: "I’ve teamed up with@KidRock to deliver two simple messages to the American people: GET ACTIVE + EAT REAL FOOD." The post on X, formerly Twitter, includes video of a myriad of imagery that includes workouts, eating, bears, and sharks.

Cross's legendary Tobias Fünke made the other Arrested Development characters endure his "never nude" phase, where he insisted on only wearing jeans shorts and no shirt—even while showering.

The comparison to RFK Jr. has plagued Cross for some time, as he took shots at RFK Jr. on  The Daily Beast's Obsessed podcast last month. “The thing you have to remember is, Tobias Fünke is deeply disturbed and deluded, and not especially bright," Cross said. "So in that way, sure, it's relatable."

Odenkirk had yet to see RFK's post but remarked, "I have not seen that image yet, but I'm happy for everyone that we get to suffer the rantings and ravings of a f—king nutcase and that he's been given such power," he said, tinged with sarcasm. "It's just the best. What else have we got to do with our lives besides deal with his kooky inspirations?"

Trader Joe's has settled its lawsuit regarding printed credit and debit card receipts, but shoppers only have a few remaining days to submit a claim form in order to get part of the $7.4 million settlement.

The claim form has a June 9 deadline.

The settlement comes after the popular grocery chain had some printed receipts that showed the first six and last four digits of a shopper’s credit or debit card number. Because of that, they violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA). And it relates to receipts issued between March 5, 2019 and July 19, 2019.

According to the settlement website, Trade Joes has denied all the allegations and "vigorously denies any and all liability or wrongdoing whatsoever."

"Not all Trader Joe’s stores printed receipts displaying the first six and last four digits of the card number, and in those stores that did, only a small minority of transactions involved such receipts," the settlement website states. "Trader Joe’s insurer has nonetheless concluded that further litigation would be protracted and expensive, and has taken into account the uncertainty and risks inherent in this litigation, and has determined that it is desirable that the litigation be fully, completely, and finally settled in the manner and upon the terms set forth in the settlement."

The company added that there has been no reported identity theft based on the receipts printed.

Each claimant is estimated to receive $102.45, but the exact final payment will depend on how many individuals file a claim. In order to file a claim, it must be done by June 9 through either the settlement website or by calling 1-888-444-7415. Anyone eligible should have received an email or a notice in the mail regarding the settlement.

A fairness hearing is scheduled for August 10, at which the court will have the option to grant final approval for the settlement. Afterwards, payments will be issued to shoppers within 10 business days.

Natalie Imbruglia was recently spotted in London, nearly three decades after the song that made her an international star.

The Australian singer and actress, now 51, was photographed arriving at BBC Radio Studios on June 4 as she prepares to release her upcoming album Algorithm. While her appearance drew attention from fans who remember her late-'90s breakthrough, Imbruglia was likely making the rounds to promote her first studio album since 2021's Firebird.

She has already given fans a preview of the project with lead single "Upside Down," which arrived earlier this year.

While Imbruglia continues to make new music, many fans still associate her with the song that launched her career around the world.

Released in 1997, "Torn" became one of the defining pop-rock songs of the decade. The emotional anthem was a massive international success, reaching No. 1 in multiple countries and turning Imbruglia into a global star almost overnight.

The song was equally dominant in the United States. Although it was not eligible for the Billboard Hot 100 under the chart rules in place at the time, "Torn" spent 11 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Radio Songs chart in 1998 and became one of the most-played songs on American radio.

The track's popularity has endured long after its original release.

In 2011, Rolling Stone ranked "Torn" No. 26 on its list of the 50 Best Songs of the '90s.

Her new album marks a particularly meaningful project for Imbruglia. Speaking to Rolling Stone in April, she said she took a hands-on approach to the record, collaborating closely with her co-writers and co-producers throughout the process.

"On this record I chose to work with collaborators who also co-produce, so from start to finish we were all so invested in every song," Imbruglia said. "I really hope that people get as much joy from listening to this record as we did making it. And that they dance their arses off."

She also revealed that making Algorithm coincided with a difficult period in her personal life. "This was by far the most fun I've ever had making a record. It also happened to coincide with the most challenging time I've had with my mental health," she said. The album's lead single, "Upside Down," was inspired by that experience.

"The inability to control my emotions, wrestling with fight or flight mode, was awful, and I was reaching this critical point with it," Imbruglia explained. "In a way, the song is about how sheer willpower – trying to force your way out of something – doesn't always work. You need tools, support. So that's where the song was born from, that fight to maintain a semblance of what some might consider normality."

Not all albums are a charting success upon their initial release, but it doesn't mean that they won't find fame years later.

In March 1967, The Velvet Underground & Nico, the self-titled debut album by American rock band The Velvet Underground and German singer Nico, was released via Verve Records. Featuring songs like "Sunday Morning," "Femme Fatal," and "I'm Waiting for the Man," the album is now considered one of the most influential works of music from the 1960s, but that wasn't always the case.

When it was first released, the album failed to find commercial success, selling only around 30,000 copies in its first five years and barely reaching the bottom of the charts. However, decades later, in 2013, following the death of The Velvet Underground singer Lou Reed, the album experienced a resurgence and returned to the charts, peaking at No. 43 on the Official Albums chart and No. 129 on the Billboard 200.

A few years later, in 2018, The Velvet Underground & Nico re-entered the charts after a boost in physical sales in the U.K. placed it at No. 54 on the Official Physical Albums chart.

The record was produced by Andy Warhol, and the band credited the pop artist for being the reason why they could release the exact type of album that they had envisioned. Warhol was also the artist behind the striking cover art, which was voted No. 1 by Billboard on the list of 100 best album covers of all time.

"Because he was Andy Warhol, they left everything in its pure state. They would say, ‘Is that okay, Mr. Warhol?’ And he’d say, ‘Oh yeah.’ And so they didn’t change anything," explained Reed in a 1993 interview. "And so right at the very beginning, we experienced what it was like to be in the studio and record things our way and have essentially total freedom.”

Heather Locklear can't help but gush over boyfriend Lorenzo Lamas!

The 64-year-old Melrose Place actress opened up for the first time about her relationship with the Falcon Crest actor, 68, during an appearance on the latest episode of the Hollywood & Divine podcast, calling him her "new boyfriend."

"My new guy is very … everything," Locklear said in the episode published on Tuesday, June 2. "I'm just like, when I tell this person I love him, I'm really saying, 'I love you, God.' Because that's what happened. It's from God."

"I'm [in] the best time [of my life]," she added.

Locklear and Lamas were first romantically linked in late 2025 and made their first public appearance as a couple at the Chiller Theatre Expo in April. The two stars have since been spotted together numerous times, attending the wedding of Locklear’s daughter, Ava Sambora, last month and celebrating the graduations of Lamas' grandchildren earlier this week.

Locklear and Lamas' romance may still be in its early days, but the couple has history dating back more than four decades. The pair first met while posing for a 1983 Playgirl cover together as Locklear was at the height of her Dynasty fame and Lamas was best known for his role as Lance Cumson on Falcon Crest.

Lamas has spoken out about his romance with Locklear in the past, telling Fox News Digital in April that it was years of "trial and error" that ultimately led him to his relationship with the Money Talks star.

"I mean, I’ve been through a lot of trial and error, and she is the most amazing woman that I think I’ve ever met," he told the outlet at the time.

Locklear was previously married to Tommy Lee from 1986 to 1993 before tying the knot with Richie Sambora in 1994. After welcoming daughter Ava together, the pair split in 2004. While Paul McCartney holds a mostly positive view of each of his former Beatles bandmates, he admits there was a "hurtful" period where his rivalry with John Lennon got under his skin.

In a new interview with NME, the 83-year-old rock legend opened up about his view of his late Beatles bandmate, specifically responding to questions over whether he feels a responsibility to present Lennon "in the right way" following his death in 1980.

"I suppose so. I never think of it like that," McCartney admitted to the outlet.

"I don't feel like I have to be respectful," McCartney continued. "He's just a mate – it's just this guy who I met, and we wrote songs together, so I don't feel a sense of responsibility. I hope it is responsible."

Among the most dramatic breakups in musical history, one of the most factors that led to the Beatles' dissolution came over an internal conflict over who the band wanted to manage them.

From McCartney's perspective, the best option was his father-in-law Lee Eastman, while the remaining members of the band preferred business mogul Allen Klein. Believing Klein's contractual terms were very unfair, McCartney refused to sign on with the rest of the band, leading the way to the Beatles' eventual breakup.

At the time, McCartney confessed to being hurt by the public criticisms Lennon lobbed at his former Beatles bandmate, although the Wings co-founder eventually realized it was just "John being John."

"It was very hurtful, like sticking little daggers in me," admitted McCartney. "It was just annoying, because you thought, ‘I've got to answer him back, what am I going to do?' But I suddenly realized, ‘Wait a minute, this is John. This is the guy I've known since I was 16. That's just what he does.' It didn't sting so much once I realized it was just John being John."

By the mid 1970s, McCartney said that he and Lennon had reconciled, with the latter eventually siding with McCartney over his blunt assessment of Klein.

"I was lucky because we'd been separated because of the business trouble and stuff, and John eventually came round to my way of thinking that the guy they wanted to bring in was a crook," McCartney said. "I'd suffered because they all thought I was the nutter, I was the crook."

"Even though it was a painful period, we kinda had to go through it, or someone would have robbed us," the 83-year-old went on to say.

What made the Moulin Rouge costume workshop, and Mine Vergès specifically, feel like such an essential stop for the Paris episode?

It's a classic case of an iconic experience we've all heard of but few understand the inner workings that go on to make it all happen. Mine, speaking of icons, brings her decades of experience and stories in making the viewer realize the Moulin Rouge is so much more than just a show.

The Moulin Rouge is one of Paris's most famous landmarks, but this preview takes viewers behind the scenes. Why was it important to show the craftsmanship and people behind the spectacle?

The context of what goes on behind the scenes allowed me to better enjoy the experience with an added layer of respect and understanding about the countless hours and artisans it takes to dress every performer.

What surprised you most about the level of detail, tradition, and couture involved in the costumes?

That it’s very much a living thing. Costumes are constantly evolving as are the acts themselves. The show strikes a balance of tradition and novelty all at once.

How did you approach finding something new to say about a city as well-known as Paris?

The city itself made that easy with no shortage of restaurants and small businesses but the lesson I took was a reminder to explore different ways of really getting to experience a city. Case in point: I joined a velo club in exploring the windy cobblestone streets of Montmartre, which is now a must-stop for all my future visits.

The show is inspired by Nat Geo’s Best of the World franchise. What does "best" mean to you when it comes to travel? How did you choose where to travel for this series?

Sharing the 'best' of a place is a subjective challenge to take on, and for me, it is always the people I met on my journeys. The human stories of people who have dedicated their lives to a single task or passion or expertise.

What can viewers expect from the upcoming episodes and the new show in general?

For all of the expected places we go I hope there is an unexpected story behind it. And for the novelties, That they served to inspire little dreaming or even a future trip.

In 1971, Pink Floyd went into the studio completely unprepared and came out with one of the greatest songs in rock history — "Echoes."

The band was worn out from touring and arrived without a single idea between them. Their only starting point was a faint "pinging" sound from a piano across the room. They were so stuck for ideas that they temporarily called the song "The Return of the Son of Nothing."

That single piano note came from keyboardist Richard Wright, and it became the foundation of a nearly 24-minute track. "Echoes" went on to fill the entire second side of Pink Floyd's 1971 album Meddle, and in many ways, was the band finding their voice. 

David Gilmourlater described it as "the one where we were all discovering what Pink Floyd was all about."

The band used pieces from earlier sessions and layered them on top of each other, sometimes recording their parts without knowing what anyone else would play. The whole thing came together across three studios — Abbey Road for the basic tracks, AIR Studios in London for overdubs and Morgan Studios for the final assembly.

According to Wright, he played a bigger role in writing the song than he ever got credit for. The whole piano thing at the beginning and the chord structure is mine, so I had a large part in writing that,” he said in a 2008 interview, per Far Out magazine. “But it’s credited to other people of course.” 

“Roger obviously wrote the lyrics,” he added, referring to Roger Waters.

Wright also let slip that Gilmour's iconic wailing guitar sound wasn't planned at all. A roadie had plugged the wah-wah pedal in backwards, flooding the room with feedback. 

Rather than fix it, Gilmour just started playing with it. "He played around with that and created this beautiful sound," Wright recalled.

Critics responded well to Meddle when it was released, and the album peaked at No. 3 on the U.K. Albums chart. Over the years, Pink Floyd's “Echoes" has regularly found itself on lists of top rock epics ever made. 

As much as fans want to hear "Echoes" live, Gilmour has made it clear that isn't going to happen. 

Before his 2016 solo concert at the Amphitheatre of Pompeii, the same venue where Pink Floyd filmed Live at Pompeii, he sat down with Rolling Stone and explained why the song wouldn't be part of the show.

“It would be lovely to play ‘Echoes’ here, but I wouldn’t do that without Rick,” he said, referring to Wright, who passed away in 2008. “There’s something that’s specifically so individual about the way that Rick and I play in that, that you can’t get someone to learn it and do it just like that. That’s not what music’s about.”

That leaves fans with just one thing left to argue about — which version is better: the Live at Pompeii performance from 1972 or the BBC recording from 1974?

Certain supplements are having a moment—creatine and collagen powder are two good examples. Some supplements seem to have staying power, and one of them is magnesium.

"Magnesium has a lot of benefits for digestion issues, muscle ache relief, sleep and anxiety relief...and so much more," Dr. Uma Darji, MD, a family medicine doctor in North Carolina, tells Parade.

But how long does it take for magnesium to work, so you can experience all of these reported perks? Doctors say it's important to set realistic expectations for magnesium supplements, which is admittedly hard when social media promises you that they're a quick fix for many of life's problems.

"It is important to understand that supplements are not instant miracles," says Dr. Shasawat Kumar, MD, a board-certified internist with Medical Offices of Manhattan and contributor to labfinder.com. "Supplements support your body's natural biology; they do not instantly override it. It can often take time for supplements to build up enough of an impact before their effects can be noticed. They can help slowly replenish total body stores of vitamins and minerals."

Dr. Kumar adds that we often get enough magnesium each day from our diet. That said, it may help with some issues, including digestion and anxiety—eventually. Below, doctors explain what "eventually" means, how long it takes magnesium to work for different benefits, the type of supplement to take and whether you need one at all. The answers aren't so simple.

How Long Does It Take for Magnesium To Work?

"Magnesium can take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks to work, depending on the reason for taking it," Dr. Darji explains. "Some effects happen faster because magnesium directly influences muscle relaxation or water movement in the intestines, while other effects require rebuilding low magnesium stores inside cells and tissues over time."

There's no straight answer to this one, largely because people take magnesium supplements for many reasons. Plus, magnesium supplements are available in several forms, including citrate and glycinate.

Another physician echoes these sentiments.

"It depends on the goal," reports Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, the chief medical advisor for Sleepopolis. "Some forms can work within hours, but for sleep, muscle symptoms or correcting low magnesium levels, it may take days to weeks because the body has to absorb it, use it and improve low levels over time."

Wondering what type of magnesium works the fastest? "Magnesium supplements come in lots of different forms, but the faster-acting ones are magnesium citrate and magnesium hydroxide," reveals Dr. Natasha Bhuyan, MD, a family physician.

The Benefit-By-Benefit Timeline for Magnesium To Start Working

The timeline for you to start noticing the effects of magnesium depends on your goal. The type of magnesium you choose to take will also depend on your needs. Dr. Dasgupta shares which forms of magnesium may offer certain benefits and when you might see results.

• Digestive relief. Magnesium citrate or magnesium hydroxide may help relieve constipation within 30 minutes to 6 hours, but the effect depends on the dose and the person. "These forms pull water into the intestines, which softens stool and helps the bowels move," he explains.
• Muscle cramps. Cramps have many causes, including dehydration, other medications and circulation issues. But if they're related to a magnesium deficiency or low intake, magnesium glycinate or citrate might help. Dr. Dasgupta says it can take days or weeks of consistent intake to notice improvements.
• Sleep and anxiety. "Magnesium does not work like a sleeping pill and won’t knock you out right away," he reveals, saying you might feel muscle relaxation within 30 to 60 minutes, but the most meaningful improvements can take days to weeks of consistent use (along with sleep hygiene, like going to bed and waking up at the same time every day). Magnesium glycinate is the go-to type for sleep and anxiety.
• Nutrient deficiencies. This one can take longer, and Dr. Dasgupta hesitates to give even a ballpark timeframe. He shares that you'll want to speak with your doctor and get a formal diagnosis through bloodwork, explaining, "Symptoms like fatigue, weakness, numbness, tingling or muscle spasms should not be self-diagnosed because they can overlap with many other conditions."

How Much Magnesium Do I Need per Day?

It depends on age and sex. Generally, adult men should consume 400 to 420 mg of magnesium per day, while women should aim to consume 310 to 320 mg of magnesium per day.

For what it's worth, you likely don't need a magnesium supplement—and you'll want to take special care if you have certain issues.

"Most people don’t actually need to take a magnesium supplement," Dr. Bhuyan says. "They should be getting a sufficient amount in a healthy diet of whole foods. But people with kidney disease should especially avoid magnesium supplements unless monitored by a doctor, as there can be a buildup not cleared by the kidneys."

Dr. Kumar says that food sources of magnesium include:

• Pumpkin seeds
• Chia seeds
• Almonds
• Cashews
• Black beans
• Lentils
• Leafy greens, like spinach
• Whole grains like brown rice and oats
• Avocados
• Dark chocolate

If you do need to take a magnesium supplement, you'll want to do so intentionally (with your doctor's help).

"The reason matters because constipation, sleep, cramps and deficiency may call for different forms, doses and timelines," Dr. Dasgupta says.

In June 1976, Ode to Billy Joe made its debut in theaters. Directed by Max Baer Jr., the drama film starred Robby Benson and Glynnis O'Connor as two teens whose doomed romance in 1950s Mississippi ends when Billy Joe McAllistar (Benson) jumps off the Tallahatchie Bridge.

Ode to Billy Joe was based on Bobbie Gentry’s iconic country ballad of the same name, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot  100 on Aug 26, 1967. But the movie’s soundtrack was not limited to Gentry’s chart-topping heartbreak ballad.

As the film attempted to put together the pieces from Gentry’s tragic song, the background featured a gorgeous score composed by legendary French pianist Michel Legrand. By the time Ode to Billy Joe came to him, Legrand had already won two Oscars for his compositions for The Thomas Crown Affair and The Summer of ‘42, and he would go on to win another for Yentl in 1984. He also won a BAFTA, a Golden Globe Award, and five Grammy Awards before being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1990, per Billboard.

While the Ode to Billy Joe soundtrack includes songs such as “Rattle Snake Daddy" (Hoyt Ming) and "Memphis Thelma" (Sherrill Parks), the score more prominently features lush instrumentals by Legrand titled “On the Bridge,” “Night,” “Reflections,” “Morning Stillness," and more.

The most significant piece on the orchestral soundtrack is “There’ll be a Time (Love Theme).” The somber piano piece plays several times throughout the film, including eerie, atmospheric scenes in which locusts can be heard chirping along with it.

One of the film’s biggest tearjerker moments comes via a montage of O’Connor’s character Bobbie Lee lamenting the death of her love, as she recites poignant, poetic words penned by lyricists Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman over top of the love theme.

A synopsis of the movie soundtrack posted by Kritzerland Records described Legrand as one of “the great film melodists of all time.”

“For Ode to Billy Joe, he wrote a score of great beauty, basically variations on a theme, and one of his most beautiful themes at that,” the site noted.

Legrand, who died in 2019 at age 86, once said he looked at every movie he scored through his own lens.

“Every movie that I’ve scored, I’ve tried to be original, to be different from what we’re used to listening to,” the pianist and film composer told The Guardian in an interview. “When I write music, my music talks. It’s not a music that says nothing, a tapestry where nothing happens, like most of the composers. I think I’ve been an adventurer — in life, in my work, too.”

A classic Dolly Parton film from 1989 is quietly leaving Netflix on July 1. That means you only have weeks left to watch it for the first time or rewatch it again.

Steel Magnolias will depart the streaming channel on July 1, reported the website What's on Netflix. The departure is part of the streaming channel's ongoing monthly rotation of licensed titles, which regularly sees popular films come and go without much notice.

The film classic starred an ensemble cast led by Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah, and Julia Roberts. Together, the cast brought to life a tightly woven story of friendship, resilience, and humor set in a small Louisiana town.

Their lives are centered around a small-town beauty salon, where gossip, laughter, and support all blended into the fabric of everyday life.

Dolly Parton played the quick-witted and warm-hearted Truvy Jones, the owner of the salon at the story's center. Her character served as the glue of the group and offered humor, advice, and steady support.

Steel Magnolias gave a grounded look at female friendship spanning different generations. It captured how those bonds shifted over time but still managed to sustain themselves throughout all of life's challenges.

Roberts won a Golden Globe Award in 1989 in the category of Best Supporting Actress for the role of Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie. It was her first industry award.

Ironically, Roberts wasn't the first choice for the role that launched her career at the age of 20. As reported by Variety, the actress admitted during a visit to Watch What Happens Live that "Meg Ryan was supposed to be in Steel Magnolias, and she was still filming When Harry Met Sally, so I got that part.” 

Thirty-seven years after Steel Magnolias debuted, the film remains one of the most beloved in Dolly Parton's wheelhouse. Even as it exits Netflix, the film continues to resonate with audiences who keep coming back for its humor, heart, and unforgettable performances.

Guns N’ Roses have dozens of hit songs that are still played on the radio today, but there are a few that they haven’t played in person in years. However, during their latest concert in Poland on June 4, they performed one of their most underrated songs, “Think About You,” from their debut studio album, Appetite for Destruction. The band hasn’t played the song since December 2006.

“Think About You” is beloved by many fans. As one Redditor said, “It's definitely one of my favorite GNR songs. A lot of people don't like it because it's a poppy, jangly love song in the middle of an album that generally goes a bit harder. This is because it's purely an Izzy [Stradlin] song. Slash didn't even like it that much.”

Slash gave his uncensored opinion of the song during a 2007 interview with Guitar Edge. He said, “I was never a big fan of [the song] because it was just too lightweight. But at the same time, it was one of those songs where Izzy had written the lyrics, so it was sort of like that Aerosmith song 'Combination' [on Rocks], which Joe Perry wrote. It was Izzy's babbling 'Combination' song. I enjoyed recording it, though. I managed to get some ideas down and could walk away feeling satisfied with the way the song sounded.”

Axl Rose also spoke about the song in a 1988 interview, saying that it "doesn't have so much to do with me. Izzy wrote that one. There's a few parts of the lyrics that I put in there, and maybe gave it a little more flow, and worded it my way since I was the one singing it. I think it's kinda one of the ones that's a bit hidden. That's also with the way it was recorded.”

Guns N’ Roses are currently on a world tour. According to Billboard, the setlist from the first show they performed in 2026 included hits like “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Sweet Child o’ Mine,” and “Paradise City.” They also played cover songs, including “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” “Live and Let Die,” and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.”

When musicians first started announcing their parts in the Freedom 250 event, the backlash from fans started. Bret Michaels was one of those who shared some of the backlash that he had received, and it led to him canceling his appearance.

Now, guitarist Pete Evick has clapped back at fans for their response. He isn’t mincing his words, as he puts his frustrations out on Facebook.

At the end of May 2026, the former Poison frontman shared that he was among the latest musicians pulling out of the Freedom 250 Great American State Fair. He joined the likes of Martina McBride and The Commodores, and Michaels made it clear that it was due to how the concert series was presented and what it has turned into.

The concert series, which runs from June 25 to July 10 was initially presented as a way to celebrate the United States turning 250, using music as a way to stand out and bring people together. However, fans quickly turned on the artists, as it became viewed more about politics.

Michaels made it clear that his decision to pull out came due to safety concerns. Threats were made against his fans, the band, the crew, and his family, along with himself.

There have now been comments against Michaels and the band for pulling out, and, now, guitarist Evick has taken to Facebook to share his own thoughts about the entire situation. He called out the critics who attacked Michaels and the band for pulling out, saying in no uncertain terms, “F–k off.”

Many have shared how angry they are that The Bret Michaels Band pulling out means that they no longer support veterans, which is not the case at all. Performing at an Independence Day celebration isn't meant to be about veterans.

Evick wrote a lengthy Facebook post, where he focused on all the charitable donations Michaels and the band have made over the years. Michaels has donated millions to veteran organizations, and he was one of the first to give free tickets to veterans, long before it became a more nationalized thing with “Vet Tix.”

Understandably, Evick is angry at the backlash that Michaels and everyone else in the band have experienced due to decision to pull out of the Freedom 250 concert series. He doesn’t understand how everything good that Michaels has done in the past is erased quickly due to one decision to perform in a concert that was supposed to celebrate July 4.

Evick even went on to share that 16 out of the 21 years he’s been with Michaels, he hasn’t seen his children during this holiday. They love to perform to celebrate America’s birthday.

He also pointed out that this wouldn’t be the first time performing at something President Donald Trump has organized. They performed at Trump’s daughter’s bachelorette party, and at Trump’s golf course for various charitable events, proving that it was never about politics.

He ended the Facebook post, which you can see in full here, sharing:

If Bret or me have ever put a dime in your pocket, given you a free ticket, a free meet and greet, a free hotel room, a free flight, a photo pass, let you or your child perform on stage with us, gotten something signed for you or your charity, let you stand on the side of the stage, let you open for us, given you a shout out on social media, gone out of our way to call or FaceTime a sick or dying relative that we don’t even know, or if you are one of those people when I’ve gotten Bret to show up at one of my local gigs, and you were the first in line to be close to him who has now openly turned your back on him. F–K OFF. We see you, we see your posts, FUCK OFF. I’m not saying you have to openly support him. But those that called us friends 4 days ago and have used and abused us and have now turned on us. F–K OFF.

The post was met with supportive comments from followers. One commenter shared, "Its insane that anyone expects you to stand on stage with someone who intentionally lied and misled you just to turn on you when you stood up for yourselves and protected the legacy you have worked so hard to leave."

By the late 1970's, the English rock band Genesis was already on their ninth studio album. Hoping to cater to another demographic of fans, they released a love ballad that did the job of cementing their status as a worldwide pop sensation.

"Follow You Follow Me" wasn't originally intended to be released as a single in February of 1978. What started as a guitar riff quickly molded itself into a track the perfect length to be released as the lead for their new album. While Genesis had released love ballads before, like "More Fool Me" and "Your Own Special Way," "Follow You Follow Me" became the first to make them worldwide stars.

The track was written by bassist and guitarist Mike Rutherford in an effort to shift the band's image from instrumentally elaborate rock tracks to having melodic hits. According to Louder Sound, Genesis felt their fanbase was predominantly male and wanted to create a track that female fans could resonate with and make them want to attend their shows.

“Until Follow You Follow Me our audience was very strongly male,” Rutherford said. “After it, all the guys were able to say to their girlfriends: ‘Here’s that song you like.’ So they’d come along [to gigs], and of course they’d enjoy the whole evening. It changed our audience ratio and we got more women after that.”

Rutherford and even Phil Collins felt the track was great rhythmically, but "was not intended to be a hit single." "Follow You Follow Me" was, in fact, the band's most successful single, spending four weeks on the UK chart and peaking at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The track captured fan interest as a love ballad, also due to its inspiration. Rutherford admitted that its lyrics were largely inspired by his wife. He had written it in roughly ten minutes, with the guitarist explaining they were simple words from the heart.

“Not quite ten minutes,” he said. “It was the first time I’d written such simple words. They were inspired by my wife [Angie]. We were away a lot on tour, and I wasn’t seeing her an awful lot, as happens with bands in the early days. So I thought of her. It was such a simple sentiment, unlike, you know, all our other words at the time. And so you write it from the heart, quickly."

“I thought, ‘God, this can’t be any good,’” he adds, laughing. “Normally lyrics take agonising over and developing. But then you look at [FYFM] and realise that’s the charm.”

Having largely focused on album releases, "Follow You Follow Me" was a deviation from their prior work and their first to gain radio attention. Rutherford admitted it was nice to get attention from fans who didn't like them before.
