Sam’s Club Brings Back Seasonal Bakery Favorite Fans Say Is ‘Worth Every Bite’
Sam’s Club is giving shoppers plenty to be excited about in the bakery aisle on their next visit.
The warehouse giant is offering plenty of choices when it comes to baked goods and sweets this year, but one item is getting all the attention.
A seasonal comeback has fans celebrating the return of a beloved bakery favorite, with many saying the treat is “worth every bite” and something they look forward to every year
Sam's Club's Fresh Fruit Tarts ReturnOne of the most anticipated returns is the Member's Mark Fruit Tarts, now officially back in stores. A seasonal staple for many, the tarts are often described as the perfect warm-weather dessert thanks to their light, refreshing flavor, offering a reprieve from the heat.
First spotted on social media, the popular item is once again drawing attention from shoppers who say it makes choosing dessert for gatherings or everyday indulgence an easy decision.
Prepared in-club fresh daily, they are "carefully crafted" with a crispy golden shell made using the finest real butter, which serves as the perfect foundation for the toppings that find themselves filling the middle.
Inside each shell is custard, topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries, along with a dollop of whipped cream to add a final touch to the indulgent pastry.
As tasty as they are visually appealing, shoppers praise them for being “not too sweet” with just the right amount of filling. Others called them the "perfect summer treat," as you pop them in your mouth at any backyard get-together or pool day.
"It’s fluffy and fresh and amazing. Love it and it’s becoming a constant in our list," another review added.
View this post on InstagramAnd clocking it at just 50 calories per tart, some shoppers have also been surprised at how light it is for a dessert, with one joking it seems “impossible” for something so delicious to be so low in calories.
If you're adding them to your cart, they come in a pack of 6 for $12.47!
Additionally, as Parade previously reported, shoppers will now be able to get the fruit tarts along with the brand-new Members Mark Mini Pies, which come in a variety of assorted flavors, including Key Lime, Triple Chocolate and Cherry bites, all for just $10.75.
Sam's Club Memebers Instagram page shared a first-look at the goodies, as one fan commented to declare, "The pies are soo delicious!!!"
"OMG, I seriously loved the other mini pies!!! Hope I find them!!!" another added.
Don't miss out on the seasonal goodies—get to Sam's Club now!
2020 Dark Ballad Secured Iconic 1960's Folk Singer First-Ever No. 1 Song
April 11 marks two important dates for Bob Dylan. One, it was his 1961 stage debut, when he opened for John Lee Hooker at New York City's Greenwich Village club, Gerde's Folk City. 59 years later, the date would also signify the first time any of Dylan's songs hit No. 1, when his 17-minute track, "Murder Most Foul," topped Billboard's Rock Digital Song Sales chart.
The phrase "Murder Most Foul" originated in William Shakespeare's Hamlet to describe the shocking betrayal and murder of Hamlet's father by his brother, Claudius. On his 39th studio album, Rough and Rowdy Ways, Dylan used the phrase to lament the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy while also weaving in many pop culture references.
Greetings to my fans and followers with gratitude for all your support and loyalty across the years.
This is an unreleased song we recorded a while back that you might find interesting.
Stay safe, stay observant and may God be with you.

"Tommy, can you hear me? I'm the Acid Queen," Dylan sang. "I'm riding in a long, black Lincoln limousine. Ridin' in the back seat next to my wife. Headed straight on into the afterlife. I'm leaning to the left, I got my head in her lap. Oh Lord, I've been led into some kind of a trap."
Dylan had previously charted at No. 1 on Billboard's charts, but only with his albums. He'd topped Billboard's Top Rock Albums five times, including 2006's Modern Times and 2009's Together Through Life. He'd also topped the Billboard 200 five times, with popular albums like Desire and Blood on the Tracks. However, when it came to singles, the recognition had always eluded him.
Dylan came close to landing the coveted spot at the beginning of his career. "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" both peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, but their momentum ended there. Songs like "Tangled Up in Blue" and "Just Like a Woman," which are on Rolling Stone's "10 Greatest Bob Dylan Songs" list, never even cracked the top ten.
In a New York Times interview shortly after the song was released, Dylan admitted that he was surprised "Murder Most Foul" became his first No. 1 song. Despite the song being about events that took place decades ago, he refused to view it as "nostalgic."
"It speaks to me in the moment," he said. "It always did, especially when I was writing the lyrics out."
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Is Reopening With a Major Change for Families
Hold onto your hats and glasses! After a massive 16-month refurbishment that saw the tracks literally rebuilt from the ground up, the "Wildest Ride in the Wilderness" is officially returning to Magic Kingdom on May 3, 2026.
While Disney fans are always excited for a classic to return to the lineup, this isn't just a fresh coat of paint. The reopening comes with a surprising rule change and a brand-new show scene that pays homage to Disney history.

View this post on Instagram The 38-Inch WinThe biggest news for parents? Disney has officially lowered the height requirement to 38 inches (down from the previous 40-inch minimum).
Thanks to a combination of new, smoother track work and refreshed passenger trains, the safety teams have given the green light for younger adventurers to climb aboard. This two-inch difference is a major milestone in the Disney "rite of passage" journey, allowing more preschoolers to experience their first "big" mountain alongside the rest of the family.

For the Disney history buffs, the refurbishment includes a stunning new scene: The Rainbow Caverns.
As your runaway train rattles underground, you’ll discover a glowing subterranean world filled with phosphorescent pools and shimmering stalactites. If the name sounds familiar, it’s a nod to the legendary "Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland" attraction that preceded Big Thunder at Disneyland. But don't get too comfortable—Disney warns that a "menacing rumble" suggests the mountain might not be as friendly as those glowing pools look.

What Else Is New?- The Gold is Back: For the first time in the Florida version's history, guests will actually see gold veins shimmering in the mountain walls—a nod to Barnabas T. Bullion’s original (and ill-fated) mining dreams.
- Refreshed Effects: Imagineering has restored dormant effects and animatronics throughout the ride that haven't been fully operational in years.
- A Smoother Sensation: While it still promises to be "wild," the total track replacement means a much smoother ride that preserves the thrills without the "jerky" transitions.

1974 Classic Rock Hit Became a Timeless Rock 'n' Roll Party Anthem
In 1974, Rick Derringer had his only Top 40 solo hit with ”Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo.” The song, from Derringer’s 1973 album American Boy, hit No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 on March 30, 1974. More than 50 years later, it remains the late rock legend’s signature song and a timeless rock party anthem.
Written by Derringer, “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo” featured a catchy guitar riff and a shout-along chorus. The song was originally recorded by Johnny Winter in 1970. Derringer, who was a part of Winter’s band, once said he had a specific goal of giving Winter a shot at a commercial rock hit when writing the riff-heavy party song.
“The first thing I wanted to do was bring more of a rock ‘n roll way of thinking to Johnny, but Johnny didn’t want to change and become in any way bubblegum,” Derringer once said, per WCSX’s Classic Cuts.
“I wanted to write a song specifically for Johnny that he would be able to speak the lyrics in his vernacular and feel comfortable about saying the words he was saying, but I also wanted to bring a little more of a pop kind of sensibility to the whole thing," the rocker explained. "So I wrote ‘Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo’ trying to follow those guidelines, and it came out like it is.”
Winter’s blues-based version of “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo” failed to chart on the Hot 100, so Derringer decided to record it himself three years later.
Derringer said he had a ‘competition’ with WinterDerringer never regretted giving Winter a shot at “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo” first.
“The first thing I did was make sure the music was more commercial, more rock-oriented,” he told Guitar Player in 2024. “I wrote ‘Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo’ — the rock was me and ‘hoochie koo’ was Johnny. He was the band leader, so we did it his way. The first opportunity I had to do it my way was on my first solo album, All-American Boy.”
“Those are two totally different records,” Derringer added of the two versions of the song. “The one I did with Johnny was more in keeping with his style. When I did my version, it was my opportunity to play and create what I thought it could be. I went for it.”
Derringer, a former member of The McCoys, credited his work with Winter as “the start of what really became my destiny.”
“We had a great time playing, Johnny and me,” he said. “It was a kind of competition. Eventually, he got tired of trying to compete, so he disbanded that group.”

This ‘70s Hit Is Still Famous for One Unforgettable Detail
Some songs stick with you because of the lyrics. In the case of Paul Simon’s 1976 hit "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover," all about the rhythm.
The chart-topping track that remains instantly recognizable thanks to its unforgettable drum pattern.
Even if you haven’t heard the song in a while, there’s a good chance the beat comes back to you almost immediately.
Behind that iconic rhythm is legendary session drummer Steve Gadd, whose work on the track helped elevate it from a clever breakup song into something truly timeless. The song, which appeared on Simon’s album Still Crazy After All These Years, went on to become one of his biggest hits, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
But it’s that opening drum groove that continues to stand out decades later.
Gadd’s approach was deceptively simple, built around crisp snare hits and a tight, almost hypnotic feel that gives the song its signature bounce. It’s the kind of rhythm that feels effortless—but has been studied, analyzed and admired by drummers ever since.
And it wasn’t just a happy accident.
Gadd, 81, was already a respected name in the studio world by the time he recorded the track, known for his ability to bring both technical precision and musical intuition to every session. His work with Simon proved just how powerful the right groove could be.
Over the years, "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" has remained a staple on classic radio and streaming playlists alike, often cited as one of the most memorable songs of the decade. While Simon’s lyrics and delivery certainly play a role, it’s that rhythm that quietly carries the track from start to finish.
It’s also a reminder of how much impact a behind-the-scenes musician can have.
Listeners may not always know the name Gadd right away, but they know that beat. And decades later, it still hits just as smoothly as it did the first time around.

Quote of the Day: Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud on Success After Struggling
Sigmund Freud’s name is associated with a lot of things, from psychological theories to different terms (such as a "Freudian slip"). However, there’s a lot more to Freud than you might know. This makes him a good candidate for our quote of the day, considering his writing appeared in many forms, and he had a lot of influential ideas to share.
Born on May 6, 1856, in Austria, Sigmund Freud went on to become a neurologist and the father of psychoanalysis. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), psychoanalysis is a form of therapy that works to get to the root cause of people’s problems. To do this, the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) reported that this practice looks at the “unconscious manifestations in a person’s life” and at what influenced them.
Examples of psychoanalytical discoveries attributed to Freud include the unconscious, regression, free association, transference and dreams as wish-fulfillments, per the IPA. Some of the most well-known theories and discoveries were sexual in nature, from libido to early psychosexual development, to his most well-known theory: the Oedipus Complex (this is the theory that children develop a “desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex” along with a rivalry with or jealousy for the parent of the same sex, per Britannica).
As you can imagine, a lot of Freud’s theories were offensive to many (and still are today), but no one can deny how his ideas permeated through pop culture, Western culture and psychology as we know them today, even if psychoanalysis has declined in regards to diagnostic and clinical practices.
Freud died at the age of 83 in 1939, and his many thoughts and words make for some great quotes, including the one we’re highlighting today. It’s pretty inspiring and can give you some clarity when you’re struggling or experiencing failure.

Quote of the Day by Sigmund FreudCanvaPro/Parade
“One day in retrospect the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.”
This quote appears in the 1960 book Letters of Sigmund Freud, selected and edited by Ernst L. Freud; it’s a collection of letters Freud sent to many different people, from Albert Einstein to H.G. Wells and more.
This is from Letter Number 127, originally written in German by Freud to Carl Jung on Sept. 19, 1907. Freud was urging Jung to keep going even though people opposed his work or whatever he was doing. The full, translated quote is:
“Let us found our journal. People will grumble, buy and read it. One day in retrospect the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.”
The journal Freud is talking about here is one that he wanted to start, called Internationale Zeitschrift für Psychoanalyse.
He and Jung were longtime collaborators until they split due to differing ideas regarding psychology in 1913, as Britannica reported. Jung came up with the concept of analytical psychology, which differed from Freud’s psychoanalytic theory, placing more emphasis on immediate conflicts rather than childhood traumas or issues, per Britannica.

Deeper Meaning of Sigmund Freud’s Quote—Success After StruggleWhen you’re going through a tough time—whether that’s the loss of a job, the death of someone close to you or you’re going through a particularly rough patch at work or in your relationship—it can be hard to see how you will get through it. You can’t even remember what life was like before your hardship, sometimes, so how are you supposed to imagine happier, better times ahead? Because of this, it can be really easy to get swallowed up by your despair, falling into a depression or anxiety spiral.
Freud’s quote is simply reminding us that there will come a day in the future when you’ll look back on your struggles, and you might be grateful for it. That’s generous, and it might be hard to hear that your current dark situation will eventually be “beautiful” to you, but still. The sentiment has some weight. Kind of like "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," a la Kelly Clarkson (or Friedrich Nietzsche).
While it might not apply to all situations without it sounding like toxic positivity, there are definitely a lot of scenarios that you might look back on and be thankful for your struggles and see your hardships as beautiful. Or at the very least, you might look back on them fondly or see them as not as bad as they were when you were in the thick of it. And having that reminder might be what you need to keep going to find yourself on the other side of an anxious or disastrous circumstance.
In the specific instance that Freud said this statement to Jung, he was referring to academic or professional work. And in those scenarios, it can be helpful to change your perspective. Instead of getting hung up on little details or failures—even big ones—you should remember your goals, the bigger picture and that you’ll have successes in the future. And especially in this situation, you probably will eventually see your struggles as beautiful because of the outcome. Even if that outcome was simply that you completed your goal.

- “He that has eyes to see and ears to hear may convince himself that no mortal can keep a secret. If his lips are silent, he chatters with his finger-tips; betrayal oozes out of him at every pore.”
- “Are there not very important things which can only reveal themselves, under certain conditions and at certain times, by quite feeble indications?”
- “Today we do not feel quite sure of our new set of beliefs, and the old ones still exist within us.”
- “Being entirely honest with oneself is a good exercise.”
- “Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility.”

NBA Announcer’s Final Broadcast on ESPN After 36 Years Revealed
Veteran NBA play-by-play announcer Mark Jones will officially call his final game on ESPN this Sunday, ending a remarkable 36-year run with the network.
The news was first reported by Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, confirming that the longtime broadcaster’s farewell broadcast will mark the close of one of the most enduring careers in sports television.
Jones, 64, has been a familiar voice for NBA fans since joining ESPN in 1990. His final assignment is expected to be the regular-season matchup between the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics. The network is also planning a tribute during the game to honor his decades of contributions.

ESPN acknowledged his departure in a statement, saying, “Mark has made an enduring impact at ESPN since 1990, serving as a signature voice primarily within our NBA and college football coverage and across nearly all of our platforms. We’re grateful for Mark’s countless contributions and we wish him continued success.”
Jones’ exit comes after years of steady presence across the network’s biggest broadcasts. Over time, he became one of ESPN’s most recognizable voices, covering not just the NBA but also college football and major studio events.
During his peak years, Jones served as one of ESPN’s top NBA play-by-play announcers. In 2022, he stepped into a bigger spotlight when lead announcer Mike Breen was sidelined due to COVID-19. Jones called multiple NBA Finals games during that stretch, showcasing his ability to handle high-pressure moments on the sport’s biggest stage.
Beyond game calls, Jones played a major role in studio coverage. He contributed to events like the NBA Finals, Draft Lottery and All-Star Weekend, and even hosted programs such as NBA Today.
However, in recent years, Jones’ role shifted slightly as ESPN’s broadcast lineup evolved. He moved down the NBA depth chart behind other announcers, but remained a steady and respected presence on both basketball and football coverage.
Reports indicate that Jones’ decision to leave was his own. According to multiple sources, ESPN was open to keeping him, but the veteran broadcaster felt it was simply time to move on.
Mark Jones, who has long South Florida ties, is leaving ESPN by choice, he tells me. He simply felt it was time. ESPN says he could have stayed if he wanted. Magic-Celtics at 6 p.m. Sunday will be his final ESPN appearance; there will be an ESPN tribute to him during the game.
— Barry Jackson (@flasportsbuzz) April 10, 2026His final game will reportedly feature longtime colleague Doris Burke alongside him on commentary, adding a meaningful touch to his farewell broadcast.
Despite stepping away from ESPN, Jones is not expected to retire. His future plans remain unclear, but he is still actively working as the lead play-by-play announcer for the Sacramento Kings, suggesting he may continue calling games outside the network.
Jones’ journey began in Canada, where he worked for The Sports Network before joining ESPN. Over the years, he built a reputation for his energetic delivery, sharp insights, and memorable phrasing. His style made him stand out in a crowded field of broadcasters.
While the exact reason for his departure remains personal, one thing is clear: Jones leaves behind a lasting legacy. From regular-season games to the NBA Finals, his voice has been part of countless memorable basketball moments.

Taylor Swift's Baking Gets Honest Review From Travis Kelce's Chiefs Teammate
Taylor Swift is not only winning over Travis Kelce’s heart but also earning admiration from some of his Kansas City Chiefs teammates.
While the pop superstar continues to top the charts with her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, it appears she has also mastered her side quest, which is baking, something that even NFL wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was left in awe of her skills.
Fellow celebrities and personalities close to the award-winning singer have been raving about her signature chai tea cookies, custom-made Pop-Tarts and "banging" sourdough bread, as Kylie Kelce described it. Now adding to the growing list of Swift’s baking fans is the 29-year-old player.
In an interview with The Kansas City Star, he gave an honest review of the “Bad Blood” hitmaker’s baked goods, calling her creations “fire.”
“She’s a baker,” he said, adding, “She can bake. Yeah, she’s good at that.”

According to Chiefs coach Andy Reid, the 14-time Grammy winner put her baking skills on full display after surprising Kelce’s teammates with her famous Pop-Tarts.
"She likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts," he revealed to NFL on NBC.
The 68-year-old coach also spoke about how the singer-songwriter quickly won the team over, saying, "It was over. She knew right where to go."
Reid continued to express his appreciation for Swift and praised the music icon’s way of being friendly and trying to bond or “fit in” with the team.
“The Fate of Ophelia” singer and her fiancé are gearing up for the highly anticipated ceremony, reportedly scheduled this year.
View this post on InstagramIn an update, a source told Page Six that the couple has sent save-the-dates for their big day, reportedly set in New York on July 3.
Initially, various reports noted that the couple was planning to get married in Rhode Island, where the singer owns a large estate.
This also supported Page Six’s report in November regarding them dropping the Rhode Island idea and instead moving forward with a different venue that can accommodate more guests.
The preparation came months after the veteran tight end proposed to Swift on Aug. 26, 2025, in an intimate flower-filled garden in Kansas City.
Swift’s engagement ring featured a vintage-inspired 7 to 10-carat diamond with elongated antique cushion or old-mine cut detail by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.

1979 Hit Ranked Among 'Best Movies of All Time'
In 1979, Andrei Tarkovsky directed a film that has become one of the most influential works in modern cinema.
Stalker has been ranked No. 86 on Rotten Tomatoes' list of the "300 Best Movies of All Time," highlighting its enduring impact decades after its release.
Set in a mysterious, restricted area known as the Zone, the film follows a guide who leads two men toward a room said to grant a person's deepest desires. Rather than focusing on action, the story unfolds through quiet tension, long takes and philosophical dialogue.
Directed by Tarkovsky, widely regarded as one of the greatest directors in cinematic history, the work reflects his signature style. His films are known for their spiritual themes and long, fluid takes that create a poetic tone few capture.
Like much of Tarkovsky's work, Stalker moves away from conventional storytelling. Its slow pace and minimal plot shift attention to its atmosphere and symbolism, drawing viewers to reflect on faith, purpose and human desire.
The film explores the relationship between belief and reality, using the journey through the Zone as a meditation on inner conflict and the unknown. Its unique style has made it one of the most studied works in international cinema.
Film scholar Akira Mizuta LipPit described the picture as "A masterwork of pacing, elemental precision and breathtaking patience. One of the most beautiful films ever made."
While it was not an immediate success upon release, Stalker has grown in stature over time. Its revolutionary structure and tone have earned it a reputation as a refined and visually striking work of cinema.
With its inclusion on Rotten Tomatoes' ranking, the film continues to hold its place among the most respected works in cinema, a testament to its enduring impact.

1970 Soft Rock Classic Ranked Among ‘Greatest Songs of All-Time’ Was a No. 1 Hit 56 Years Ago
On April 11, 1970, 56 years ago today, The Beatles scored their 19th No. 1 Hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart with their beloved ballad “Let It Be.” The chart-topping song would go on to be the last of the Fab Four to reach the top spot before their public breakup later that same year.
By the time The Beatles, made up of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, earned their 20th No. 1 hit — “The Long and Winding Road” — on that same chart, they had already officially disbanded.
McCartney and Lennon Share Songwriting CreditsReleased on March 6, 1970, and appearing on the album of the same name, which was also the final project the group recorded together, “Let It Be” was written by McCartney, with additional songwriting credits going to Lennon due to the Lennon-McCartney partnership. According to American Songwriter, which attributed its source to The Salt Lake Tribune, the spiritually-sounding tune was inspired by a dream the singer-songwriter, 83, had about his mother, Mary McCartney.
What Paul McCartney Said“I think I was getting, like, a little bit over the top with [the party fashion] – getting pretty tired and pretty wasted. And I went to bed one night and had a kind of restless night. But I had a dream where my mother, who had been dead at that point for about 10 years, came to me in the dream, and it was as if she could see that I was troubled,” McCartney said, per the outlet.
“And she sort of said to me, she said, ‘Let it be.’ And I remember quite clearly her saying, ‘Let it be,’ and, ‘It’s going to be OK. Don’t worry.’ You know, ‘Let it be.’ I woke up, and I remembered the dream, and I thought, ‘Well, that’s a great idea,’” he added. “And I then sat down and wrote the song using the feeling from that dream and of my mum coming to me in the dream.”
The lyrics of the tun are simple, with the message standing out over delicate piano and McCartney’s signature vocals.
“Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be / There will be an answer, let it be / Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be / Whisper words of wisdom, let it be,” the repetitive chorus of the song ranked in 2004 at No. 20 on Rolling Stone's list of '500 Greatest Songs of All Time' before leaving the list, goes.
The Beatles’ single “Let It Be” held the No. 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, while the album of the same name held the top position on the U.S. Billboard chart for four weeks.
1965 Hit Ranked Among ‘Greatest Songs of All Time’ Became a Rock Breakthrough
A 1965 rock classic that changed the sound of popular music has earned a spot in the top 5 of Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
“Like a Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan is ranked No. 4 on the publication’s updated list, more than half a century after its release.
The song’s impact goes far beyond its chart performance. When it was released in July 1965, it broke nearly every rule in pop music at the time—running over six minutes long, featuring a sharp, confrontational tone, and blending folk lyricism with a full rock band sound.
What Is ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ About? At its core, the song tells the story of a character often referred to as “Miss Lonely,” a once-privileged figure who suddenly finds herself navigating a world without status or security.
The lyrics are direct and cutting, built around the now-iconic refrain: “How does it feel?”—a repeated question that feels less like curiosity and more like a challenge. Critics have often described the song as both an indictment and a moment of strange liberation, capturing what it means to lose everything and start over.
How the Song Changed MusicPart of what made “Like a Rolling Stone” so revolutionary was how it came together in the studio.
Dylan initially struggled to shape the song, which began as a long piece of writing before being distilled into its final form. The breakthrough came during recording sessions in New York when musician Al Kooper, who wasn’t even scheduled to play, improvised the now-famous Hammond organ riff that helped define the track.
That moment helped transform the song into something entirely new—a fusion of electric rock instrumentation and deeply personal, almost literary songwriting.
Even its length became part of its legacy. At a time when most radio singles ran under three minutes, the song’s six-minute runtime was seen as a major risk. Some stations refused to play it, but listener demand ultimately forced radio to adapt.
Was It a Hit When It Was Released?Despite early hesitation from radio programmers, “Like a Rolling Stone” became one of Dylan’s biggest hits, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping the Cash Box chart. It also found success internationally, helping cement Dylan’s transition from folk artist to global rock star.
Over time, its reputation has only grown. The song has consistently ranked near the top of critics’ lists and was previously named the No. 1 song of all time by Rolling Stone before being placed at No. 4 in its most recent update.
Why It Still Matters TodayMore than 60 years later, “Like a Rolling Stone” is still widely seen as one of the most influential songs ever recorded.
Artists from Bruce Springsteen to Jimi Hendrix have pointed to it as a turning point, a moment when popular music expanded its boundaries both musically and lyrically.
For Dylan himself, the song marked a creative breakthrough—one that reshaped not only his career, but the expectations of what a song could say and how it could sound.
And decades later, that opening snare hit still lands like a door being kicked open.
