Jaclyn Smith, 80, Goes Full ‘Charlie’s Angels’ on the Red Carpet With Her Adorable Granddaughters

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 10:37am

Jaclyn Smith may have reunited with the rest of the Charlie's Angels cast recently, but she also has two great substitutes: Her granddaughters!

The legendary actress, 80, is best known for her role as Kelly Garrett on the beloved TV series, alongside Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. After she left the iconic series, which ran from 1976 to 1981, she continued to act, with roles on The District and Shear Genius. Never one to slow down, she parlayed her career into the design world, becoming an entrepreneur with Kmart and then with the Home Shopping Channel. Smith recently reunited with Jackson and Cheryl Ladd in honor of the show's 50th anniversary, and brought two very important guests with her to the red carpet: Her granddaughters, Bea and Olivia.

"Announcing the sequel: Jaclyn's Angels," Smith wrote on her fun video, which showed her doing the signature "Angel" pose alongside the adorable girls. "Just kidding ☺️ but I do like to keep angels around me, in this case my granddaughters Bea and Olivia, who I’m lucky enough to have in my life every day!"

Smith is 80 and Has Never Looked Better

The pilot of Charlie’s Angels aired on March 21st, 1971, and Smith’s dear friend Patrick Foley took to Instagram to honor the special day with a photo of the stunner in pink pajamas. While it has been five decades since she first took on the role of Kelly Garrett, you wouldn’t know it. Smith glows in front of the camera!

“Today is the 50th anniversary of the pilot of my all-time favorite show, Charlie’s Angels 💝💝💝How lucky am I, I get to share the evening with my favorite angel Kelly Garrett @realjaclynsmith💖,” Foley captioned his photo, which showed him with his arm around a stunning Smith.

While fifty years have passed, Smith hasn’t forgotten where she came from. As the years go on, she continues to honor her dear friend and fellow original angel, Farrah Fawcett. Recently, Smith headed to the red carpet to join friends Morgan FairchildDonna Mills, and Alana Stewart to honor their late friend, who died of cancer in 2009. The event was a benefit for the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, which raises funds for HPV-related cancer research, patient assistance funds during treatment, and prevention programs.

Looking incredible in a monochromatic cream-colored suit, Smith glowed in front of the camera, as did the rest of the ladies.

“In Texas with my friends in support of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation and the annual TexMex Fiesta! What a wonderful time for a great cause. Thank you to everyone who joined us,” she captioned her photos.

I Tested 12 Pizza Cutters To Cut Dozens of Slices—Here Are 8 Winners and 4 To Skip

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 10:25am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

After 25 years of obsessive home pizza making, my husband and I have learned that the journey doesn’t end when the crust clears the oven: it ends the moment that first perfect slice hits your plate. You can source the finest Caputo 00 flour, ferment your dough for seventy-two hours, and dial in a perfect 850° on your indoor/outdoor pizza oven, and still have the entire experience crumble in the final ten seconds if you don’t have the correct tool to cut your pie. A dull or poorly designed pizza cutter can drag cheese, bruise fresh basil, and compress that airy crust you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

Our kitchen drawers tell the tale: a graveyard of “innovative” wheels, pizza scissors and rockers that promised precision but delivered nothing but frustration. After decades obsessing over hydration levels and heat distribution, the last thing you want is a wobbly axle or a blade that performs like a butter knife. There’s nothing more heartbreaking than watching a weekend of careful prep collapse into a mangled heap of dough and sauce instead of a crisp, clean slice that stays beautiful from board to plate.

When you’re pulling a blistering, bubbling pie from the flames in front of hungry friends, you need a tool that works as hard as you do. You want that satisfying “crunch” as the blade meets the board, not a fight that turns your masterpiece into a mess. We were finished watching our hard work undone by cheap under-performers. It's time to clear the clutter and finally find a blade that actually lives up to the hype. After dozens of slices and a lot of flour-dusted trial and error, below are the very best pizza cutters (along with a few to shy away from).

Top Pizza CuttersWhat To Look for in a Pizza Cutter

Theresa Greco

When choosing a pizza cutter, the most important thing to look for is a sharp, durable blade. Most people prefer a stainless steel wheel because it resists rust and stays sharp longer, making it easier to slice cleanly through crust, cheese and toppings without dragging or tearing.

The size of the wheel also matters. A larger wheel (around three to four inches) gives you better leverage and smoother cuts, especially on thick or deep-dish pizzas. If you prefer a rocking motion instead of rolling, a rocker-style cutter (a long curved blade) can be a great alternative for fast, even slicing.

Handle design is just as important as the blade. Look for an ergonomic, non-slip grip that feels comfortable and secure in your hand, especially if you’ll be applying pressure. Some cutters also come with safety features like blade guards or finger shields, which are helpful if you’re concerned about storage or accidental cuts.

Finally, consider how easy it is to clean, dishwasher-safe models or ones with minimal crevices will save you time and effort after use.

How I Tested Them

To see which blades were truly a slice above the rest, I put 12 of the most popular cutters to the test during my family's weekly pizza nights. I tried everything from the boutique Williams Sonoma Walnut Handled Pizza Wheel to the heavy-duty stainless Midnight Slice wheel, and I didn't just give them a "once-over." I used them on real, piping-hot homemade pies to see how they would handle the pressure of a blistered, crust and a mountain of melting cheese.

Theresa Greco

I was looking for a tool that felt like a natural extension of my own hands. To find the ones actually worth your drawer space, I graded every contender on these three essentials:

  • The One-Pass Cut: There is nothing more frustrating than having to "saw" through a pizza. I looked for an option that could sever the bottom crust in a single, effortless motion without catching the cheese.
  • The Comfort Factor: After 25 years of hosting pizza nights, I know that a handle that pinches or slips is a deal breaker. I looked for a cutter that felt secure in a flour-dusted hand, even when slicing through a dozen pies for a crowd.
  • The Cleanup: Let’s be honest: no one wants a tool that is a nightmare to scrub. I prioritized designs that were either a breeze to hand wash or featured a "no-gunk" construction that wouldn't trap bits of cheese in the axle.

8 Best Pizza Cutters Best Overall:OXO Good Grips 4" Pizza Wheel, $18

Theresa Greco

Shop It on Amazon

This pizza wheel is my go-to for a reason. It strikes the perfect balance between comfort and performance. The handle, with its iconic non-slip grip, feels great in your hand and is designed to absorb pressure. I especially appreciate this on our weekly pizza nights when I am slicing pie after pie, since it makes the whole process easier.

What really sets it apart is how smoothly it cuts. The four-inch stainless steel wheel glides effortlessly through everything from thin, crispy crusts to thicker, topping-loaded slices without dragging or tearing. It also has a satisfying weight to it, substantial enough to feel sturdy but still easy to control.

It may not be the flashiest tool out there, but for me, it is the gold standard when it comes to comfort and reliability. Plus, it is widely available at places like Target or Amazon, and the price point makes it an easy upgrade for any home kitchen.

Best Rocker Style:Williams Sonoma Olivewood Pizza Chopper, $59.95

Theresa Greco

This tool strikes a balance between professional utility and high-end aesthetics, though it is admittedly best suited for a somewhat larger pie. The sustainably sourced olive-wood handle is rolled to facilitate a stable, two-handed grip, making it one of the most balanced tools in the lineup. It prioritizes both aesthetics and a traditional, tactile experience, offering a level of control that feels both grounded and intentional.

Because it uses a rocking motion rather than a rolling one, it is excellent for keeping toppings in place on a loaded pie, essentially acting as an elegant, artisanal version of a heavy-duty kitchen rocker. However, its size makes it somewhat cumbersome and hard to store in a standard drawer. You can find this exclusively at Williams Sonoma.

Best Splurge:The GreenPan Stanley Tucci Pizza Wheel, $69.99

Theresa Greco

Shop It at GreenPan

Like the rest of the GreenPan Stanley Tucci collection, this wheel feels thoughtfully crafted and instantly elevates your kitchen with its signature gold handle. It is undeniably stylish, but what really stood out to me is how well it performs. The weight feels just right in hand, and the blade moves through dough with a smooth, precise glide that you do not always get from more design-forward tools.

As a splurge, it earns its place by delivering on both looks and longevity. This is not just a showpiece. It is the kind of tool you reach for again and again because it performs as beautifully as it looks, making pizza slicing feel a little more elevated.

It is one of those rare “celebrity” pieces that truly delivers on both form and function. There is a natural balance to it that makes slicing feel easy and controlled, whether you are working with a thin crust or something more loaded. For anyone who appreciates kitchen tools that look beautiful and work just as hard, this one really hits the mark.

Best for Control & Precision:Microplane Pizza Wheel, $30

Theresa Greco

Shop It on Amazon

Microplane is a household name, long trusted for its high-performance graters and zesters. Their pizza wheel, however, deserves just as much attention. This is my pick for Best for Control and Precision thanks to its thoughtfully designed thumb base, which gives you a steady, guided grip and makes each cut feel smooth and intentional.

While it is not as heavy or industrial as some other options, it more than makes up for it with performance. It delivers clean, precise slices that glide through your pizza without dragging cheese or disrupting toppings, which is not always a given with lighter wheels.

I also love how versatile it is. This version includes a protective blade cover that doubles as a dough docker, helping prevent air bubbles in your crust. It is widely available at retailers like Williams Sonoma, Sur La Table and Amazon, and it's an approachable, high-performing tool that really stands out in everyday use.

Best Professional Grade: Ooni Professional Pizza Cutter Wheel, $30

Theresa Greco

Shop It on Amazon

This wheel feels like the “pro” evolution of the classic pizza cutter. With an oversized 4.4-inch blade and a glass-reinforced nylon handle, it has the kind of strength and stability you immediately notice when slicing through a loaded pie. The handle might look like plastic, but the glass-fiber reinforcement gives it a solid, satisfying heft that instantly sets it apart from the flimsy wheels you find in grocery store aisles.

Ooni has made a name for itself crafting some of the best pizza ovens and accessories, so it’s no surprise their cutter feels just as thoughtfully designed. In my kitchen, it turns every pizza night into a smooth, controlled experience, gliding cleanly through crust and toppings without wobbling. It’s the type of tool that makes even casual home cooking feel a little more professional.

For anyone who wants a cutter that combines precision, durability and that "pro-level" feel, this one delivers exactly what you expect from a brand that lives and breathes pizza.

Best Pizza Scissors: Williams Sonoma Pizza Scissors, $44.95

Theresa Greco

These are a fantastic niche addition to your kitchen arsenal, especially for anyone who loves focaccia or thick, Sicilian-style pies. On a heavy crust, they really shine, letting you snip through the dough cleanly and with great control.

While many kitchen scissors struggled in testing, these stood out, especially on thicker, sturdier pizzas. Still, pizza scissors aren’t my first choice for thin slices. On a fragile Neapolitan pie, this pair cuts more smoothly than most, but can still tug at the cheese, leading to a messier presentation rather than a clean slice.

They’re absolutely worth owning, as long as you think of them as a specialty tool. Use them when the crust demands it, and reach for a traditional wheel when you’re working with thinner, more delicate pies. You can find them exclusively at Williams Sonoma.

Best Specialized Pizza Cutter:Ooni Pizza Cutter Rocker Blade, $39.99

Theresa Greco

Shop It on Amazon

This 14-inch stainless steel rocker blade is built for a very specific scenario: oversized pizzas cooked in high-heat outdoor ovens. At temperatures reaching 900°F, the crust becomes exceptionally crisp while toppings stay fluid, and this blade is designed to press straight down through that char without dragging cheese or tearing the dough like a rolling wheel might.

It’s undeniably sharp and can slice a large pizza in half with one clean motion. However, for the average home cook, it might feel excessive. Its size requires significant storage, and its utility drops sharply if your pies aren’t large enough to match the blade’s arc. Unless you regularly make 16-inch or larger Neapolitan-style pies in an outdoor oven, this tool is more novelty than necessity.

Best for Cutting & Serving on Sheet Pans: Dreamfarm Scizza 2-In-1 Easy Ergonomic Pizza Scissors, $24.99

Theresa Greco

Shop It on Amazon

If you regularly bake pizza on sheet pans, this is one of the few tools actually designed for that specific job. The defining feature is the flat nylon base, which slides under the slice as you cut—acting as a barrier so the stainless steel blades never come into contact with the pan. It’s a genuinely safe option for nonstick surfaces and metal trays alike.

That said, it’s still a situational tool. Like most pizza scissors, it performs best on thicker, pan-style pizzas and can feel awkward or less precise on thinner pies. And while the sheet pan-safe design is useful, it’s not essential for most home cooks.

4 Pizza Cutters To SkipCuisinart Curve Handle Pizza Cutter, $12

Theresa Greco

This is an entry-level pizza wheel that looks the part but doesn’t deliver where it counts. The construction is noticeably lightweight, which makes it feel a bit flimsy in hand, with a slight wobble in the blade that undermines control. There’s also a thin, almost tinny quality to it that doesn’t inspire much confidence during use.

It does technically get the job done, but without enough weight or leverage behind the wheel, you have to press harder than you should—especially on anything beyond a very thin crust. That lack of stability makes clean, confident cuts harder to achieve.

At around $11–$15 depending on the retailer, it’s inexpensive, but not in a way that feels like a win. There are sturdier, better-balanced cutters available at slightly more money, making this one hard to recommend.

Dexas Pizza Cutter Roller, $8

Theresa Greco

A true “wild card” that unfortunately fails to deliver. Departing from the traditional handle in favor of a one-handed, palm-held grip, this cutter struggles with its most basic job—getting through the crust. In testing, it often required multiple passes to fully slice through a pizza, making the process more frustrating than efficient.

While the design comes apart easily for deep cleaning and is dishwasher safe, that added convenience doesn’t make up for its lack of performance. A pizza cutter should, first and foremost, cut cleanly and confidently, and this one simply doesn’t. Despite strong reviews on sites like Amazon, it didn’t live up to my expectations.

Midnight Slice Pizza Cutter Wheel, $59.95

Theresa Greco

Marketed as an ergonomic heavyweight, this pizza cutter claims to shift the leverage from the wrist to the upper body and chest. In practice, however, I don’t agree. Whether due to a steep learning curve or design flaws, it caused tremendous wrist strain for me.

If a simple kitchen tool requires a technical manual just to be held correctly, it fails the fundamental test of intuition. At this exuberant price point, the cumbersome nature of the design simply isn't worth the investment. It gets great reviews on Amazon, and while it's heavy in the hand (which I do like), I just don't see it being a tool I would reach for.

Williams Sonoma Walnut Handled Wheel, $33

Theresa Greco

The Williams Sonoma Walnut Handled Pizza Wheel delivers solid cutting performance, but ultimately prioritizes looks over substance. The walnut handle gives it a classic, “kitchen heirloom” aesthetic, though the wood grip doesn’t feel as comfortable or natural in hand as other materials.

While it cuts cleanly and performs well overall, it doesn’t stand out enough to justify its roughly $35 price point—especially considering its limited availability. At this price, there are better options that offer similar or improved performance with a more comfortable, practical feel.

1978 Wedding Between The Queen Of Soul And A Celebrated Actor Was Held 48 Years Ago Today

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 10:16am

Aretha Franklin and Glynn Turman met backstage at a Ben Vereen show in the late 1970s. Her son, Clarence Franklin, introduced them by running up to Turman and telling him how much his mother loved him.

"I said 'Who's your mother?'" Turman recalled in a 2018 interview. "He said, 'Aretha Franklin.' I said 'Whoa.'"

The pair got married on April 11, 1978 in New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, where her father worked as a pastor. They divorced in 1984, allegedly due to the strain of their long-distance relationship, but they remained close friends and would frequently speak over the phone. Turman even visited her during her final days.

“The good times were wonderful,” Turman said, as reported by People. “The things we were able to share, things we were able to do together, the concerts that we were able to share. People think of her often as an iconic singer, an iconic performer, but they don’t necessarily remember that she was a mother and a wife and someone’s lover. There was that part that I’m glad I got to know about.”

Turman went on to say, “She was hilarious. She had a roster of jokes and could make funny situations out of situations that you wouldn’t think were funny.”

Turman is an Emmy-award winning actor, director, writer, and producer. He appeared in iconic projects like Cooley High, A Different World, House of Lies, and The Wire. In 2025, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Franklin was an iconic singer and songwriter with hits like "Respect," "I Say a Little Prayer," and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” She recorded over 800 songs and sold over 75 million records. She was also an avid Civil Rights and Women’s Rights activist.

“Women’s Rights Movement should have her name written all over,” Turman said. “She just didn’t take tea for the fever, as the old folks would say. She was stubborn and hard to persuade. When she got her mind made up on something, you might as well pretty much forget trying to change it.”

Franklin never married again while Turman is with his third wife, Jo-Ann Allen, who he married in 1992.

These 4 Zodiac Signs Carry Old-Soul Wisdom

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 10:11am

Through deep reflection and practicing empathy, we gain insight into our lives that we may not have recognized before. Amidst the challenging times we face, we often seek advice or guidance from those with a grounded understanding of life. While we can all attune to this timeless, ancient, old-soul energy within, some people are naturally more skilled at it than others.

The signs of Cancer, Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Pisces provide profound wisdom to those they care about, as they have the emotional capacity to do so. Read on to discover more about the zodiac signs with the most old soul wisdom, and what it reveals about them.

Which Zodiac Signs Have Old Soul Wisdom?

Check for your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs. Cancer, Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Pisces have the most old soul wisdom. Although their approaches differ, each method is valuable for individuals seeking different forms of healing and communication.

  • Cancer uses their sentimental and nostalgic perspectives to offer insight.
  • Sagittarius shares wisdom drawn from their own experiences.
  • Capricorns tend to observe situations carefully and report on their findings
  • Pisces relies on their intuition to guide others.
Cancer

People love Cancers because they have huge hearts and immense emotional depth, which helps their loved ones grow. This star sign tends to offer advice with tender loving care. As a water sign, they nurture and convey information sensitively and with heightened intuition. As the "maternal zodiac sign", they always put others before themselves.

When you cry on their shoulder, they not only listen with old-soul emotional wisdom but also provide clarity on how you can best address the situation. At times, their advice may not be what you want to hear, as they deliver honesty with love. They're instinctively protective of those they care about and never want to see them fail. If you resist their insights, they might use their Crab pincers to help you confront the truth. However, even amidst tough love, they're always on your side, no matter what.

Sagittarius

The archer symbolizes the protector of the universe, positioned at the entrance to the Milky Way. This star sign embodies a wealth of wisdom and knowledge that many lack. If you're looking for someone who will tell you the truth without holding back, asking a Sagittarius for direct advice is your best option. While they may come off as blunt and direct in their delivery at times, their insights are both powerful and profound.

Sag's ability to blend traditional emotional wisdom with modern dynamics provides a unique perspective. As a fire sign, this passionate zodiac is constantly traveling, meeting new people, or getting out of their comfort zone. As you can imagine, this helps them develop a cultured, nuanced understanding of the world. They grasp complex matters and offer valuable, old soul guidance. Furthermore, their neutrality brings a fresh understanding of situations, which is why we often seek their opinions.

They act as the proverbial lifeguards of the zodiac, sitting elevated and observing those they care about, safeguarding loved ones, and ensuring everyone lives their best lives. This is largely due to their reflective and contemplative nature.

Capricorns have a unique ability to assess situations and dynamics, offering sound advice drawn from their maturity. They can often identify the root of a problem before it's even explained and can resolve issues in a matter of moments. Swooping in with caring acts of service, Capricorns are best approached by those who are willing to take control of their circumstances and work towards solutions. They are not the type to let problems linger indefinitely.

This grants them a soulful personality and a significant amount of timeless wisdom. With strong intuition, they address issues others may overlook, guided by a deep desire to heal and soothe suffering.

Individuals born under the sign of Pisces view the world through a distinctive lens, offering perspectives that often deviate from the norm. Their abstract thinking allows them to provide unconventional yet valuable advice for personal growth. Therefore, having a Pisces by your side during significant life decisions or times of uncertainty can be crucial. Their intuitive insights bring hope without overanalyzing. Offering guidance with genuine compassion, they make it easier for others to accept their advice.

1982 No. 1 Soft Rock Classic Won an Oscar for 'Best Original Song' 44 Years Ago

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 10:10am

A romantic drama isn't without its title theme song that brings the storyline together for its conclusion. An Officer and a Gentleman, released in 1982, included a duet track sung by Jennifer Warnes and Joe Cocker that defied expectations and won an Oscar and No. 1 spot on the charts.

The soft rock track "Up Where We Belong" tugs at the heartstrings in relation to the movie's overall storyline. Directed by Taylor Hackford from a screenplay by Douglas Day Stewart, the film followed Richard Gere as United States Navy Aviation Officer Candidate Zack Mayo. As the character begins his training at Aviation Officer Candidate School, he meets a young townie named Paula (Debra Winger), and soon butts heads with the school's tough-as-nails Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley (Louis Gossett Jr.)

An Officer and a Gentleman was a success, having made $190 million at the box office, leading it to be one of the top films released that year. It also landed a Golden Globe and Oscar win for Gossett as Best Supporting Actor. Writers Jack NitzscheBuffy Sainte-Marie, and Will Jennings also won the Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Song for the track "Up Where We Belong."

The song was released to coincide with the film's debut and quickly topped theBillboard Hot 100 charts at No.1. Its success also led it to be tagged as one of the best songs of the century and earned Warnes and Cocker a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

Related: 1961 Classic Track Won an Oscar for ‘Best Original Song’ 64 Years Ago

"Up Where We Belong" came about when Paramount Pictures' studio executive at the time, and Hackford, wanted an original title track to promote the film. Despite not having any budget left, they went along with their plan and turned to the manager and former head of publicity at Warner Bros. Records, Gary George. He recommended Warnes for the movie track, who was known as a vocalist for multiple movie soundtracks.

Warnes was eager to come on board, but Hackard initially felt her voice and style were too soft for the project. The singer instead suggested a duet with Cocker, whom she had been a fan of since her teens and known for having a rougher voice. A duet between the two singers would better fit the movie's main characters, and it was music supervisor Joel Sill who ultimately persuaded Hackard to give it a chance.

Meanwhile, Joe Cocker wasn’t immediately sold, dismissing the demo as “dreadful.” Producer Stewart Levine even had to coax him out of his hotel room to get him into the studio. But after recording a few takes with Jennifer Warnes, Cocker quickly realized they had something special and a No. 1 hit on their hands. Despite Paramount executives hating the track, it has since become a soft rock and love song staple.

Diane Lane, 61, Is a Red Carpet Goddess Almost 25 Years After Steaming up the Big Screen in ‘Unfaithful'

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 9:59am

It's been nearly 25 years since Diane Lane set movie screens on fire with her role in Unfaithful, but the acclaimed actress is looking better than ever.

Lane, 61, earned raves for roles in films like The Perfect Storm, The Cotton Club, and Rumble Fish. But it was her turn opposite Richard Gere in 2002's Unfaithful, directed by Adrian Lyne, in which she played an adulterous wife who navigates a disastrous affair with Olivier Martinez, that earned her the praise of a lifetime. (And an Oscar nomination, of course.)

In the years that followed, Lane earned rave reviews for her role in Under the Tuscan Sun and the Ryan Murphy series Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. But she rarely makes a red carpet appearance, so a stunning turn at the New York premiere of Lorne was a real treat for fans of the talented actress. At 61, Lane has barely changed since her role in Unfaithful.

Jennifer Lopez Claimed She Turned Down Unfaithful

Back in October, Lane responded to Jennifer Lopez's comments made during an interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show that she turned down Lane's iconic role in Unfaithful, saying the choice "haunts me." In an Oct. 20 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lane responded to Lopez's comments and said just how glad she was that Lopez turned it down.

"Oh, I see. I didn't hear that interview," Lane shared. "No, no, I didn't," she added, regarding whether she and Lopez have ever spoken about the movie. "But I'm glad to hear it. I mean, how great. It was somebody's moment and it was my turn."

What's Next for Diane Lane?

Lane has an exciting new film project coming around the corner. She'll star alongside Scarlett Johansson and Jacobi Jupe in the next installment of the iconic horror franchise The Exorcist, directed by filmmaker Mike Flanagan, Deadline reported back in January. While it has yet to be reported what role Lane will play, it'll be fun to see her in such a high-stakes thriller.

‘I’m a Cardiologist, and This Is the One Snack I Refuse To Eat'

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 9:50am

Sometimes, we assume the best way to be "healthy" is to eat three meals a day and avoid snacks. But one cardiologist disagrees: Snacking deserves a seat at the table, even (especially?) if you're monitoring your heart health.

"Snacking certainly has a place in a heart-healthy diet," shares Dr. Lars Sondergaard, MD, a cardiologist and the chief medical officer and divisional vice president of Abbott’s structural heart division. "What it comes down to is what you’re reaching for. A snack doesn’t have to be chips or candy."

Yes, these snacks are convenient and often located in the vending machines near our workplaces or at the gas stations we stop at when our cars and bellies need fuel. Yet, you don't even need to sacrifice simplicity to snag a heart-healthy snack.

"It can be easy, grab-and-go fruits like bananas or clementines, palatable vegetables like baby carrots or a handful of nuts and seeds," Dr. Sondergaard explains. "That said, a snack can also be a hard-boiled egg, a square of dark chocolate or even a slice of whole wheat toast with a bit of nut butter. Honestly, there’s more flexibility than most people expect."

Still, certain snacks are best avoided. In particular, Dr. Sondergaard shares that people are going all-in on one protein-packed option that he personally avoids and advises patients to do the same. As a cardiologist, he rarely (if ever) eats this snack.

‘As a Cardiologist, I Don’t Recommend This Snack for Heart Health'

jirkaejc/Getty Images

"I think a surprising snack that people might overdo it on is jerky," Dr. Sondergaard notes. "While it’s marketed as a high-protein, on-the-go option—which is partially true—the nutritional tradeoffs are worth noting."

Indeed, a single large slice of jerky has nearly 7 grams of protein, but reading the entire label is vital.

"There are three things worth flagging," Dr. Sondergaard explains. "First, jerky is often very high in sodium, which—if enjoyed in great quantity or too frequently—can raise blood pressure, ultimately putting more strain on the heart and increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke."

That same large slice of beef jerky contains 356 mg of sodium. The American Heart Association recommends limiting sodium to 2,300 mg daily (ideally 1,500 mg). The salt in jerky can overshadow its sugar content (1.8 grams per serving).

"The majority of jerky on the market contains added sugar, which can elevate triglycerides, a type of fat found in blood, and contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries over time," Dr. Sondergaard warns.

Finally, beef jerky contains about 2.16 grams of saturated fat per large-slice serving. "Saturated fat raises low-density lipoprotein, also known as 'bad' cholesterol – a major driver of heart disease," Dr. Sondergaard explains.

The American Heart Association suggests capping saturated fat intake at 13 grams (About 120 calories) if you're consuming a 2,000-calorie diet.

Of course, jerky isn't the only snack to be mindful of.

"In general, I advise patients to limit their intake of anything high in trans [and] saturated fats, refined sugar or sodium," Dr. Sondergaard notes, later adding, "The issue is that jerky manages to combine all three of these factors into a relatively small serving."

Wait—Can I Never, Ever Have Jerky?

Dr. Sondergaard rarely says never. "I don’t believe that any of these foods is the 'villain,'" he says. "While my advice is rarely to completely cut out a food as the solution to better heart health, it can be very hard to practice mindful eating when it comes to these foods."

He shares that the issue with these foods is that they do, in fact, taste delicious by design.

"The unfortunate side effect of these foods is that they’re designed to be hyperpalatable, so that when you start eating them, it is hard to stop," Dr. Sondergaard explains.

And just because the jerky tastes good and has protein doesn't mean it's the best thing for your heart (especially if you keep eating it, which is hard to avoid).

"At the end of the day, over-consumption of products that are high in sodium, sugar and fat is the real problem," he says. "For patients who struggle with portion control, especially when it comes to salty, savory snacks, my advice is to avoid buying a family-sized bag of jerky or chips and instead grab a snack-sized bag."

Having a built-in form of portion control takes willpower out of the equation when snacking. "For someone who doesn’t have a heart condition, they may be able to enjoy something like jerky occasionally," Dr. Sondergaard reports. "For those with high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease, I’d suggest keeping it to a rare, occasional snack instead of a daily go-to."

Heart-Healthier Snacks That a Cardiologist Loves

Snacking can 100% be part of a heart-healthy diet. In fact, Dr. Sondergaard has some *chef's kiss* favorite snacks for heart health.

"My top three snacks are blueberries, dark chocolate and tinned fish," he says. "Blueberries and dark chocolate are high in antioxidants that can help support healthy blood pressure, as well as their individual effects on lowering 'bad' LDL cholesterol."

Dark chocolate contains antioxidants, such as flavonoids, that research suggests can support heart health. But be mindful of its fat and calorie content—a 1-ounce serving of dark chocolate is a reasonable serving size in a well-balanced diet. For something more savory, he loves tinned fish (which is totally easy to open and eat).

"Tinned fish is typically loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, which our bodies cannot produce on their own," Dr. Sondergaard explains. "These types of fatty acids can also help lower blood pressure and benefit overall bodily health."

19 Years Ago Today, The Best-Selling Author Of A Timeless American Classic Died

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 9:46am

Kurt Vonnegut published Slaughterhouse-Five, a semi-autobiographical science fiction novel, in 1969. The story uses the concept of time travel and alien abduction to explore heavy themes, such as war and free will.

According to its Goodreads description, “Slaughterhouse-Five made Kurt Vonnegut a cult hero in American literature, a reputation that only strengthened over time, despite his being banned and censored by some libraries and schools for content and language. But it was precisely those elements of Vonnegut’s writing—the political edginess, the genre-bending inventiveness, the frank violence, the transgressive wit—that have inspired generations of readers not just to look differently at the world around them but to find the confidence to say something about it.”

Slaughterhouse-Five was instantly a hit when it was published. It spent 16 weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list. It was also a Nebula Award nominee, a Hugo Award nominee, and a National Book Award finalist.

As one Goodreads reviewer said, “The book has no structure or at the very least a perceivable one: it’s all over the place. But, it works so well. It cements the book’s message and purpose underlining its meaning.”

Another said, “This book is an absolute masterpiece and it makes it clear in every single sentence. I think it is best to go into it without knowing too much about the plot. You just got to take it as it comes, so to say.”

Slaughterhouse-Five was adapted into a 1972 movie starring Michael Sacks as Billy Pilgrim. It premiered at the 25th Cannes Film Festival and won the Jury Prize. It also won the first-ever Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film.

Vonnegut was a big fan of the film himself. In his preface to Between Time and Timbuktu, he wrote, "I love George Roy Hill and Universal Pictures, who made a flawless translation of my novel Slaughterhouse-Five to the silver screen. I drool and cackle every time I watch that film, because it is so harmonious with what I felt when I wrote the book."

Vonnegut published 14 novels throughout his career, including Cat's Cradle, The Sirens of Titan, and Mother Night. He died on April 11, 2007 due to complications from a brain injury he sustained after falling at his Manhattan home a few weeks prior.

Lucy Liu Was Wrongly Diagnosed With Cancer and Underwent an Unnecessary Surgery

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 9:26am

Lucy Liu is looking back on when she was wrongly diagnosed with cancer and underwent an unnecessary surgery.

Liu, 57, skyrocketed to fame on the hit FOX series Ally McBeal alongside Calista Flockhart, and became a box office queen in the Charlie's Angels films alongside Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. From 2012 to 2019, Liu starred on the CBS series Elementary. But back in the '90s, Liu received the terrifying news that she had cancer after a lump was detected in her breast.

"I didn't really think too much about it," Liu told PEOPLE. "But it was scary, because at that time, there was less information that was available, because we didn't have internet."

Liu's doctor "sort of felt the lump and said it was cancer," and she went without "getting screened" or doing any follow-up tests, including "an ultrasound or a mammogram," she continued. She was "immediately scheduled" for surgery.

Liu never questioned the doctor, assuming the professional was always right. However, it was soon determined that she did not actually have cancer.

Liu Learned to Advocate For Herself

Liu now partners with Pfizer for the company's Every Breakthrough Matters campaign, encouraging cancer screening to promote early detection.

"It's not about the fixing, it's about really understanding what screening is, and about information and advocacy. That's a really important thing," Liu continued. "And even though there is so much available to us technologically, a lot of people don't do it because they don't want to know if something's wrong or they're too busy. ... [But] as busy as you are, it's a lifesaving thing, because, oftentimes, it's caught too late, and at that point, you're basically scrambling to figure out what your resources are."

What's Next for Lucy Liu?

Liu is currently filming Superfakes, an upcoming Peacock drama series, where she plays a luxury counterfeit dealer entering the dangerous black market world to support her family, she told US Magazine. This is an absolute delight for any of us who remember Liu playing herself on Sex and the City in a memorable episode in which Kim Cattrall's character, Samantha Jones, attempts to use Liu's name in an attempt to score herself a Birkin bag. Here's a quick refresher if you need a good laugh.

1975 No. 1 Bestseller Spent 19 Weeks on Top—And Became a Legendary Detective’s Final Book

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 9:11am

Agatha Christie brought Hercule Poirot’s story to an end in her 1975 book, Curtain: Poirot’s Last Case.

The author introduced the fictional detective to readers in her first-ever mystery novel, 1920’s The Mysterious Affair at Styles. Poirot ultimately became Christie’s longest-running character, making appearances in 33 of her novels, two plays and 51 short stories over the course of the following 55 years. His most notable books include 1926’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, 1934’s Murder on the Orient Express and 1937’s Death on the Nile.

At the height of Poirot’s popularity, Christie decided to write his ending. While working in an England hospital’s pharmacy during World War II, she penned Curtain as she feared for her life due to the Blitz bombings at the time. Christie placed the manuscript in a bank vault with instructions that the novel should be published after her death.

Curtain remained locked away for nearly four decades after Christie survived the war. In the meantime, she continued to write and publish new Poirot novels, with fans none the wiser that she had already secretly concocted his demise.

Well into her 80s, Christie concluded that the time was finally right to share Poirot’s ending with readers. She published Curtain in September 1975, killing off the beloved detective. Poirot’s death was so culturally significant that he became the only fictional character to ever receive an obituary from The New York Times, with the article making the front page of the newspaper.

Readers were just as affected by Poirot’s final case as Curtain spent 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the New York Times bestsellers list between November 1975 and April 1976.

Amid the novel’s streak of success, Christie herself died from natural causes on Jan. 12, 1976, at age 85. Her final novel, Sleeping Murder—which she wrote at the same time as Curtain to chronicle the end of another of her iconic characters, Miss Marple—was published that October and spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the New York Times bestsellers list.

Despite Poirot’s on-page death, his character lives on in Christie’s writings and adaptations of her work. The detective has notably been portrayed in films by Austin Trevor, Tony Randall, Albert Finney, Peter Ustinov and Kenneth Branagh and on TV by David Suchet.

In recent years, the Christie estate also commissioned author Sophie Hannah to write multiple original novels starring Poirot. Instead of resurrecting the character in the present day, the stories all take place prior to his death. So far, six books have been released: 2014’s The Monogram Murders, 2016’s Closed Casket, 2018’s The Mystery of Three Quarters, 2020’s The Killings at Kingfisher Hill, 2023’s Hercule Poirot’s Silent Night and 2025’s The Last Death of the Year.

Rather than try to write “as Agatha Christie, in her voice,” Hannah told The Guardian in 2014 why she opted to have Edward Catchpool narrate the stories, explaining, “He’s a character who knows Poirot very well, as I feel I do, so I felt I could write convincingly from his point of view, and then there would be no issue with trying to write like Christie, or copy her.”

MSC Cruises is Moving Into the 'Beach Club' Space—and Freeport is the Next Stop

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 9:10am

If you thought the race for the ultimate private shore day was limited to Royal Caribbean and Carnival, think again. MSC Group is doubling down on its Bahamian footprint with a massive new project that aims to turn a long-dormant resort area into a high-end sanctuary for its guests.

The group has officially reached an agreement to acquire a 20-acre slice of the Grand Lucayan Resort in Freeport, with plans to transform the former Reef Village area into the MSC Beach Club.

View this post on Instagram The Rise of the 'Elite' Shore Day

The "MSC Beach Club" isn't just a patch of sand; it’s a strategic move to offer a more controlled, resort-style experience. While Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is famous for its "eco-chic" vibe and pristine conservation, the new Freeport club is set to cater to guests from both MSC Cruises and the brand’s luxury line, Explora Journeys.

This puts MSC in direct competition with the "club" concepts that have recently dominated the region:

  • While the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau just set the bar in late 2025, the line is already moving on its next two massive "Club" projects. The Royal Beach Club Cozumel is officially slated for a 2026 debut, featuring a "street market" and hands-on cooking classes. But the real game-changer is the Royal Beach Club Santorini, opening in Summer 2026. This will be the first of its kind in Europe, designed to alleviate island congestion by giving Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises guests an exclusive home base while they explore the blue-domed churches of Oia.
  • Carnival’s Celebration Key is a massive Grand Bahama project that officially opened its gates in July 2025. While it’s already the "talk of the fleet," the real news for 2026 is the expansion of Pearl Cove Beach Club. This exclusive, adults-only (18+) retreat features an 11,000-square-foot heated infinity pool, a private beach with pink-striped umbrellas, and a full-service restaurant. To keep up with the summer 2026 demand, Carnival is also adding a second pier, which will allow four "Excel Class" ships (like the Mardi Gras and Celebration) to dock at once, essentially doubling the island's capacity just in time for the peak season.
  • Norwegian Cruise Line's Great Stirrup Cay. The island just debuted the Great Life Lagoon, a 1.4-acre heated pool area with two swim-up bars, alongside a new adults-only Vibe Shore Club. But the real "splash" is coming in summer 2026 with the debut of the Great Tides Waterpark, a six-acre complex featuring 19 waterslides and an 800-foot "dynamic river."

A $450 Million Anchor in Freeport

The beach club is only the "front porch" of a much larger investment. MSC is planning a broader $450 million development centered on Billy Cay in Freeport Harbor. Here’s the breakdown of what that day on shore will look like:

  • A New Cruise Hub: $400 million is earmarked for a dedicated terminal complex, complete with new berths, a welcome plaza, and enough retail and dining to make you forget you're at a port.
  • Infrastructure Boost: Another $50 million will go toward upgrading the existing harbor facilities and transportation links to ensure "frictionless" travel to the new beach club.
'A Defining Moment'

Construction is slated to kick off almost immediately, with a start date of April 12. Bahamian Prime Minister Philip Davis highlighted the significance of the deal, stating in a release: “This agreement represents a defining moment for Grand Bahamas and the future of our island. The redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Resort has long been a national priority.”

Gianluca Suprani, President of CTL Maritime (MSC’s infrastructure arm), emphasized the long-term vision: “As a family-owned company, we take a long-term view and when we commit to projects of this nature, we do so with the intention and capability to deliver, focused on creating lasting value.”

For travelers who love the "ship-within-a-ship" luxury of the MSC Yacht Club, this new beach club is the missing piece of the puzzle. It brings that same level of exclusivity and "no kids’ club" energy to the shore—making Freeport a much more attractive stop for the "luxe splurge" crowd.

Lindsey Vonn Stuns With Appearance Amid Recovery From Olympic Crash

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 9:01am

Just months after a life-threatening crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics, skiing legend Lindsey Vonn is turning heads again, this time not on the slopes, but on social media

The 41-year-old Olympian shared a glowing new photo on Instagram, offering fans a rare glimpse of her recovery journey following multiple surgeries and a devastating leg injury.

“Sunshine and real clothes…. Feels good! ☀️,” Vonn captioned the post. She later reposted it on her Instagram Story with the message, “Coming back to life.”

The image quickly gained attention, not just for its polished look, but for what it represents: a major step forward after months of pain, surgeries and emotional struggle.

Vonn’s recent appearance marks a stark contrast to the aftermath of her February crash, which ended her Olympic run just seconds into the women’s downhill final.

After tearing her ACL days earlier, she lost control mid-race and suffered a catastrophic fall that left her with a broken leg and severe complications, including compartment syndrome that nearly cost her limb.

“My leg was broken. My skis were still on. My leg was torqued, and I couldn’t get my skis off. I couldn’t move, and I was yelling for help,” Vonn recalled. “I just needed someone to take my skis off.”

She was airlifted from the mountain and underwent five surgeries: four in Italy and another in the United States. At one point, doctors performed a six-hour procedure to rebuild her leg and prevent infection. The injury left her wheelchair-bound and facing a long, painful rehabilitation.

Previously, Vonn shared a video of herself using crutches, writing, “No matter how hard I get knocked down I will always find a way to get back up! One step at a time!”

Fans Praise Lindsey Vonn’s Stunning Comeback Look

In her newest photo, Vonn appears radiant and confident. She wears a bright chartreuse collared top with a deep V-neckline, paired with a delicate gold necklace. Her long blonde hair falls smoothly past her shoulders, styled with a soft, natural finish that adds dimension and shine.

View this post on Instagram

Her makeup enhances her striking green-hazel eyes, with a sharp winged eyeliner and subtle shimmer. A glowing complexion and neutral-toned lips complete the look, giving her a fresh, sun-kissed appearance. Her gentle half-smile and relaxed pose project both strength and calm.

The response from fans was immediate and emotional, with many praising not only her beauty but her resilience.

“How beautiful you are 🙌 🤩 🍀,” one user commented.

“You look Great! Keep Smiling Sunshine 🌞,” another wrote.

“You look amazing, continued success in your recovery 🙏🏻❤️,” a supporter added.

Others highlighted her strength after everything she has endured. “You look absolutely striking especially all that you have been through. Once again you have come out swinging. Your willpower is amazing Lindsey 👍😉🦿,” one fan shared.

“Looking fine and catching some vitamin D for all to see,” another comment read.

One admirer even called her “The prettiest professional athlete I ever seen she is truly remarkable 💕😘💕.”

While her recovery continues, Vonn has not ruled out a return to skiing. In a recent interview with Today, she admitted she still feels the lack of closure from her Olympic exit.

“It’s just that ski racing is something I love to do and I never got a final run,” she said. “I never got to say goodbye.”

She added, “I don’t know, maybe I would do one more race to say goodbye. Maybe I’ll race again. It might be fun to do one more run. We’ll see.”

However, she also made it clear that her focus remains on healing. “My focus has been on recovering from my injury and getting back to normal life,” she said previously, emphasizing that she alone will decide her future.

Why ‘The Boys’ Final Season Is Already Dominating Streaming Charts

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 8:50am

The final chapter of The Boys has officially arrived, and viewers are wasting no time diving in.

The hit superhero drama returned this week on Prime Video with its fifth and final season, and it quickly shot to No. 1 on the platform’s Top 10 list in the U.S. within its first 48 hours. The series also began trending across social platforms, with clips and reactions circulating widely on X and TikTok, signaling strong early momentum beyond just its core fanbase.

That immediate surge helps explain why The Boys is already dominating streaming charts. After nearly a decade on the air, the show has built a large, loyal audience that tends to watch new episodes as soon as they drop. The fact that this is the final season has only intensified that behavior, as longtime viewers rush to avoid spoilers and be part of the conversation in real time, driving the best Rotten Tomatoes score the series has ever seen.

Since its debut in 2019, The Boys has carved out a unique space in the crowded superhero landscape. Instead of focusing on traditional heroism, the series flipped the script, portraying a world where superpowered individuals are often corrupt, fame-obsessed and dangerously unchecked. That darker, satirical approach helped it stand out and steadily grow a devoted following.

Now, the final season is leaning fully into the chaos that has been building for years. At the center of it all is Homelander, the volatile and increasingly unhinged leader of the Seven. As the story picks up, his grip on power has only tightened, raising the stakes for both allies and enemies. The long-running conflict between Homelander and Billy Butcher is also reaching its breaking point, giving fans a clear sense that the show is moving toward a decisive end.

Another factor driving the show’s strong performance is timing. April has become a crowded month for streaming releases, but The Boys arrived with a built-in advantage. It is one of the few returning mega-hits with an established audience and a clearly defined endgame. That combination makes it easier to cut through the noise compared to newer or lesser-known titles.

Related: Even Daredevil's Showrunner Finds the Real-World Parallels 'Chilling'

The show’s reputation for shocking moments is also playing a role. Over the years, The Boys has developed a track record for scenes that spark immediate online reaction, and the final season is continuing that trend. Early viewers have already begun sharing standout moments, fueling curiosity and drawing in additional viewers who want to see what everyone is talking about.

As episodes continue to roll out, the conversation is only expected to grow. Longtime fans are tuning in for closure, while newer viewers are catching up to see how one of streaming’s most talked-about series comes to an end.

After years of building toward this moment, The Boys is dominating the streaming landscape at exactly the right time.

43 Years Ago Today, Beloved '70s Icon Won Her First Best Actress Award at the Oscars

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 8:34am

On April 11, 1983, one of Hollywood’s most celebrated moments unfolded at the 55th Academy Awards. Meryl Streep took home her first Best Actress Oscar for her unforgettable role in Sophie’s Choice (1982), marking a defining milestone in a career that would later shape film history.

Held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, the ceremony honored the year’s finest films, with Gandhidominating major categories and Ben Kingsley winning Best Actor. But it was Streep’s emotional victory that remains one of the most talked-about highlights more than four decades later.

Presented by Sylvester Stallone, the Best Actress award recognized Streep’s deeply moving portrayal of Sophie Zawistowska, a Holocaust survivor grappling with trauma, love, and an unthinkable past.

Streep’s role in Sophie’s Choice, directed by Alan J. Pakula and based on William Styron’s novel, demanded emotional depth and technical mastery. She played a Polish immigrant living in Brooklyn, caught in a complex relationship while haunted by a devastating wartime decision.

The film earned five Academy Award nominations, but Streep was its only winner, further highlighting the strength of her performance.

This win marked her second Oscar overall and her fourth nomination in just a few years. She had previously won Best Supporting Actress for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), proving early on that she was a force in Hollywood.

At the time, Streep was pregnant with her daughter, adding another personal layer to an already emotional night.

Streep’s 1983 win came just five years after her film debut. Known for her versatility and commitment to every role, she would go on to earn a record number of Oscar nominations and win two more awards, including Best Actress for The Iron Lady (2011).

Today, Streep remains active in the entertainment industry at age 76, continuing to take on new projects. She is set to reprise her iconic role as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada 2, nearly 20 years after the original film became a cultural touchstone.

More than four decades later, Streep’s Best Actress win for Sophie’s Choice is still widely remembered as a turning point in modern acting. It showcased how deeply an actor can transform for a role and set a standard for emotional storytelling in film.

The twin size also comes with one pillowcase and one pillow sham, while the larger sizes include two of each. It’s designed to give your bed a finished, coordinated look right out of the package.

Care is simple, too. The entire set is machine-washable and can be cleaned in cold water on a gentle cycle. Just tumble dry it on low to keep everything soft and fresh. Easy maintenance like this makes it practical for everyday use.

The comforter itself is crafted from ultra-fine microfiber and filled with fluffy fibers that create a cozy balance of softness and warmth. It’s designed to work year-round, offering comfort without feeling too heavy. The extra-durable polyester microfiber fabric also helps the set resist fading, shrinking, and pilling over time.

’60s Icon and 'Goddess of Pop' Celebrates First Best Actress Oscar Win 38 Years Ago Today

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 8:30am

Cher conquered the music scene in the 1960s when she released her breakthrough hit "I Got You Babe," but decades later, she cemented her name in Hollywood after winning her first Best Actress award.

The California native landed an iconic role in the romantic comedyMoonstruck, where she played a 37-year-old Italian-American widow named Loretta Castorini.

With her misfortune, she came to believe that her life was “cursed” after her husband was killed by a bus.

Driven by that fear, she agreed to marry Johnny Cammareri, portrayed by Danny Aiello, a boring, safe man. The marriage was not out of Castorini’s love but for security.

Released in 1987, the movie became a massive box office hit, earning approximately $122.1 million worldwide on a $15 million production budget.

Moreover, with a total of over $80.6 million in earnings, Moonstruck became the fifth highest-grossing film of the year.

Following the public’s strong reception, the rom-com film also earned multiple awards at major ceremonies.

Out of the six nominations at the 60th Academy Awards, the movie received three major awards, including Cher’s first Best Actress win at the Oscars.

Thirty-eight years ago today, the pop icon proved that she was more than just a chart-topping star but a powerhouse actress in her own right.

On April 11, 1988, she beat equally talented and notable stars like Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction), Holly Hunter (Broadcast News), Meryl Streep (Ironweed) and Sally Kirkland (Anna).

Presented by Paul Newman, Cher accepted the award wearing a stunning sheer black “naked dress” by designer Bob Mackie.

In her acceptance speech, the singer-actress spoke about how much the award meant to her and expressed gratitude to everyone who helped her receive the Best Actress recognition.

“When I was little, my mother said, ‘I want you to be something.’ And I guess this represents twenty-three or twenty-four years of my work, and I've never won anything before from my peers,” she said as cited by the Oscars. “I'm really, really happy. I'd like to thank everyone I worked with on the movie [sic]. They were really fabulous. It was really a great experience for me. My makeup man, who had a lot to work with; my hairdresser; my assistant; my children, who've been so wonderful. The lady who taught me how to speak in this Brooklyn accent.”

Lastly, she also mentioned all her fellow nominees and expressed how honored she was to be nominated alongside incredible actresses whom she admired.

10 Colorful Kitchens That Prove Neutral Isn’t the Only Safe Choice

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 8:30am

Who says that you have to stick to neutral colors in the kitchen? While white kitchens reigned supreme for quite some time, many people have begun thinking outside the box. The examples below prove that cooking spaces can certainly be full of vibrant and joyful color, if that's more your vibe. Keep reading for inspirational kitchens that pro designers have chosen to coat in reds, blues, greens and more.

1. Bold Red

If you're really not one to shy away from color, why not incorporate a bold red into the kitchen, as interior designer Barrie Benson did here, using Century Paint Terra Rosa VI? The shade adds instant energy to this cooking space, while white walls and trim prevent the kitchen from becoming too dark or overpowering.

2. A Pop of Purple

Maybe you're looking to ease into color a bit and would prefer to jazz up your kitchen island with a fun shade while keeping your cabinetry white. In this space, Benson utilized both Farrow & Ball Pointing (No. 2003) as well as Farrow & Ball Brinjal (No. 222) in order to create a stunning kitchen that wows but doesn't overwhelm.

3. Strong Blue

Mindy O'Connor, the founder of Melinda Kelson O'Connor Architecture and Interiors, opted for Farrow & Ball Hague Blue (No. 30) in this open kitchen. "It's a gorgeous deep blue with green undertones," she says. "We chose it because it simultaneously acts as a timeless neutral backdrop (pairing easily with natural wood and marble) and yet is strong, warm and quietly dramatic."

4. Lowers Only

Even if you skip upper cabinets in the kitchen, you can still incorporate bold color on your lowers. "With the tile reading as a much bolder blue, I counterbalanced it with a deeper, still punchy tone to keep the space lively while adding contrast and grounding the palette," says Lindsie Davis, the founder of Blueberry Jones Design, who brought Sherwin Williams Naval (SW 6244) into this kitchen.

5. Inspired by the Walls

Davis opted for another rich shade, Benjamin Moore Oasis Blue (2049-20), in this cooking space, which, like the previous one, also features an elaborate wall pattern. "Because the wallcovering has such a strong graphic presence, I selected a deeper tone pulled from the print to add visual weight while keeping the focus above," the designer notes.

6. Playful Pink

Susan Klimala of TKS Design Group wove a stunning pink, Benjamin Moore Coral Bronze (1298), into this kitchen, pairing it with a green herringbone backsplash. "Our client loves color and didn’t want to shy away from using color in a big, bold way when remodeling their kitchen," Klimala explains.

7. Dramatic and Dark

Navy Waterworks casework adds a moody touch to this lounge kitchen bar that Emilie Munroe of Studio Munroe designed. "It was key that this kitchen expressed an identity separate from the main kitchen while encouraging festivity, connection and fun," she reflects.

8. Gorgeous Green

Sometimes a little color is all you need to take a room from generic to grand. "We chose this color to give the room pizazz through a grounded earthen tone," says Sophia deDomenico, the founder of Et Sal Interiors, of the Sherwin Williams Dried Thyme (SW 6186) hue she selected. "Without the unexpected twist, this room would have just read safe and non- personal," she adds. "The moody green was the perfect blend of happy, earthy, punchy that the kitchen was begging for, but presented in a way that allowed the owner to feel comfortable saying 'yes'."

9. Cheerful Purple

Jill Tran and Carmen Thomas, the founders of Tran + Thomas Design Studio, were thrilled when their client was on board with pairing a cheerful butterflywallpaper with Sherwin Williams Fabulous Grape (SW 6293) cabinetry. “When you have a client who isn't afraid of color, you drop what you're doing and run with it," Tran notes.

10. Chic Chartreuse

When designing her own home, Thomas wanted to incorporate a favorite hue,  Sherwin Williams Tansy Green (SW 6424), into the kitchen. "It's a deep, rich chartreuse I have loved for years," she says. "With Tansy being such a fresh and yummy green, it was perfect for the pantry prep area."

Barbie Ferreira Discusses ‘Euphoria’ Group Chat After Exit

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 8:29am

Euphoria Season 3 drops tomorrow on HBO, and while the cast has been making headlines all week with a buzzy red carpet premiere and plenty of behind-the-scenes chatter, one original cast member is watching it all unfold from the outside.

Barbie Ferreira, who played fan-favorite Kat Hernandez for the show's first two seasons, recently told Parade that the cast’s old text thread didn’t exactly survive the four-year gap between seasons. “We used to have a group chat — we were all so bad with our phones,” she said. And if there’s been any texting ahead of the premiere, she’s not in the loop: “I have no idea. No clue.”

That doesn't mean the relationships have faded, though. On The Viall Files last year, Ferreira shared that she still keeps in touch with several former castmates, and that Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, and Sydney Sweeney all came to support her during her Broadway run in Cult of Love. "I saw Hunter the other day, I saw Maude the other day, Sydney came to see my play," she said at the time. "Whenever we're in town, we always try to see each other."

As for the show itself, Ferreira has been open about her exit — and in a recent Collider Ladies Night interview, she expanded on that decision. "With Season 2, it just felt like the character wasn't Kat anymore," she said. "I felt like I wanted to do more things. I didn't care if it was like the biggest TV show on HBO." She also told Just Jared earlier this month that she hadn't seen any footage from Season 3 until the trailers came out, adding, "They look amazing. I'm excited to see what the girls are gonna do."

And she's been plenty busy on her own. Her horror filmFaces of Death alongside Charli XCX and Dacre Montgomery hit theaters yesterday, with critics praising her lead performance. Her indie rom-com Mile End Kicks, which she also executive produced, follows on April 17. She also recently launched a limited-edition capsule collection with lifestyle brand For Your Soul, telling Parade her favorite piece is the red tracksuit. "It looks really good on me," she said.
