Redditors Shared Their Favorite Real Estate Related Tips

When one Redditor posed the question, "What is your most life-changing decision that you made with money?" I knew it was going to be a treasure trove of info, especially for those looking to make smaller decisions with a bigger payout, like the steps you'd need to take to set yourself up for a comfortable retirement.

For example, one Redditor showed how a smart real estate investment paid out in a big way. "Bought a townhouse, lived there for 3 years, sold it for $60k more than we bought it for, used that profit to buy a standalone home that we love," they wrote. Another person shared that this move was similar to their goal of buying a multi-family property, which they hoped to pay for by living in one unit while renting out the others.

One Person Shared How to Save When Working With Financial Pros

Many people opt to hire financial advisors to help them plan, but one Redditor said that firing their pro and going "self-directed" with their investments was actually a huge money maker for them. "I'd been paying 1 percent of AUM annually for years without really questioning it," they wrote, adding how they started researching about investing, learning that they were spending about $2,000 in fees.

"The adviser wasn't doing anything I couldn't do myself with a few hours of reading," they continued, adding that now the money they would've paid their investor is actually working in their portfolio instead.

Someone Said You Should Never Carry a Credit Card Balance

While this may be harder to pull off on a fixed income, one Redditor explained that keeping all their credit cards at zero helped them avoid paying interest.

"Once I was able to get a head a bit, I never carried any balance on my credit cards (paying any charges in full each month)," they wrote. "I can't even imagine how much this has saved my the past 30 years."

Maxing Out 401(k) Contributions

You'll find this suggestion just about anywhere you see someone ask for financial advice. However, that doesn't mean it's not worth mentioning, which is why it ended up on this list after one Redditor said the best financial decision they ever made was starting to contribute to their 401(k) at age 23. "Those compounding gains are incredible," they added.

Another person shared something similar, saying they put half of every pay raise into their 401(k). "So if I got a 4 percent raise, I’d increase my 401k contributions 2 percent," they explained. "As I neared my (early) retirement, I was contributing almost 50 percent of my pay towards retirement."

While some of these tips are a little harder to harness the closer you are to retirement, it's clear that there's a wealth of advice (pun intended) hiding in that Reddit thread, which makes it a must-read for anyone looking for tips on how to get ahead financially.

Sam’s Club shoppers are starting to spot Essentials Baking, Organic Bake & Enjoy Sourdough Bread, priced at $7.63 for two 1-pound loaves. The bread comes air-sealed without preservatives and is designed to go straight from the package to the oven.

It’s ready in about 12 to 15 minutes in the oven, or can be finished on the grill in 10 to 12 minutes, which makes it just as helpful for quick weeknight meals as it is for outdoor grilling season. That flexibility alone makes it an easy option to keep on hand, especially when you want something that feels homemade without the extra work.

Newburyport sits where the Merrimack River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The town developed around this strategic location, becoming a major shipbuilding and trading center during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Situated at the mouth of the river, Newburyport once supported fishing fleets, shipyards, and maritime trade that helped shape the economy of coastal Massachusetts.

I have actually visited Newburyport several times, and each trip has reinforced the same feeling. The town feels both historic and lively without losing its coastal calm. Walking through Market Square and along the waterfront never feels rushed. There is always a boat returning to the harbor, a small shop to wander into, or a café patio where you can sit and watch the tide move through the Merrimack River.

Rockport’s Art Colony and the Famous Red Fishing Shack

About an hour north of Boston, Rockport sits at the tip of Cape Ann, where granite cliffs meet the Atlantic. The town feels smaller and more rugged than Newburyport, with rocky shoreline and narrow streets that open suddenly to the sea.

Rockport became known as an art colony in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Painters were drawn to the quality of the coastal light and the dramatic scenery of Cape Ann. The most recognizable landmark in Rockport is Motif No. 1, a small red fishing shack perched on Bradley Wharf. Built in the nineteenth century as a working fishing structure, it eventually became one of the most painted buildings in America.

The Coastal Road Trip Between Boston and Portland

The distance between Boston and Portland is only about 110 miles, yet the stretch of coastline between them holds remarkable variety. Newburyport offers elegant harbor streets and historic maritime heritage. Rockport presents a quieter fishing town atmosphere shaped by art and rugged scenery. Together they reveal two different sides of the New England coast.

Driving this route slowly allows travelers to see landscapes that the interstate hides. Salt marshes shimmer in the distance. Lobster boats pass through narrow channels. Old wooden docks creak softly as tides move in and out.

Garrett Dutton, who goes by the name G. Love when he performs, admitted to the massive loss on X when he shared that he had been robbed through a malicious app he downloaded. Now, he's sharing a word of caution with his fans so that they don't fall into the same trap he did.

The rocker shared his upsetting news on X on Apr. 11, 2026, writing, "I had a really tough day today I lost my retirement fund in a hack/Scam when I switched my @Ledger over to my new computer and by accident downloaded a malicious Ledger app from the @Apple store. All my BTC gone in an instant."

The Ledger app he is referring to appears to be the Ledger Wallet, which markets itself as an "all-in-one crypto app" that allows people to buy, sell, and save their cryptocurrencies and NFTs. When G. Love downloaded the malicious app, it appears it wiped out all the crypto he had been holding in his account, which he says amounted to about $420,000.

"Sorry to hear that, I lost all of my crypto a year ago in a hack myself while asleep in Singapore," one follower wrote. "Was a nightmare to wake up to."

"You forgot to tag the IRS bro," another person joked.

Not Everyone Believed G. Love's Story

While many fans and followers shared words of sympathy or advice, several people called the rockstar out over his claims.

"Which app? And how," one person asked. "It’s impossible to dump private keys from a hardware wallet.

"How is your 'retirement fund' held 100 percent in a volatile asset on a single device," another person asked.

Then there were those who were wary that the musician had posted his bitcoin address for "anybody [who] wants to help," in what some saw as a way to solicit funds from fans.

Protect Your Online Assets from Scammers

Whether you think G. Love's story is real or not, you can't argue with the fact that online trading does come with the potential for losses, especially when it comes to digital currency. So, how do you keep your crypto safe? According to Tandem, there's a few things you can do to secure your crypto wallet, and they include:

• Avoiding phishing scemes
• Installing antivirus software
• Double checking downloads
• Use a strong password and change it often
• Enable two-factor authentication
• Avoid public Wi-Fi networks without a VPN

Of course, as technology evolves, so will the ways people attempt to use it to steal. If you're heavily invested in crypto, it's important to stay up to date on the latest news and safety guidance to keep your money safe.

Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets is dead at 67—and police are now investigating cyberbullying claims, as his A&E Network co-star, Rene Nezhoda, spoke out.

On Wednesday, April 22, TMZ was first to report the news of Sheet's death just before noon ET. Lake Havasu Police in Arizona told the outlet that the reality star died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, Sgt. Kyle Ridgway said, "The Lake Havasu City Police Department [of Arizona] is aware of the cyberbullying accusations, and it is a part of the current active investigation."

Similarly, the LHCPD told TMZ, "We are aware of these cyberbullying accusations and that is a part of the active investigation."

News of police looking into the alleged cyberbullying came as Nezhoda posted a tribute on Instagram that also mentioned the online abuse.

“He had a guy like really, really tormenting him lately on cyberbullying,” Nezhoda said in the clip. “Just because you watch us on television doesn’t mean you know us. It doesn’t mean you know what we’re about. Also, it doesn’t entitle you to bully somebody.”

He continued, “Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that's been cyberbullying him and tormenting him, and I really hope they look into that guy, and it's just not a pass, because it's just not right, guys... You never know what demons somebody faces and what they go through, and what you might push them through."

In the wake of Sheets' death, his co-star, Dan Dotson, and Brandi Pasante also posted tributes on social media.

Sheets appeared in Seasons 1–15 of Storages Wars before exiting in 2023.

He and Emily Flippen affirmed their pre-game relationship, becoming immediately tight allies. But Christian's ultimate number one fell to the man he wanted to be "Number One" to: Rick Devens. He was eager to work with his fellow standout from the 30s, and when his "breadth-first search" had him acquiring a "Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol," he immediately informed him. Rick, for his part, looked at Christian's idol note, and saw an opportunity. So that night, under cover of darkness (and a pratfall straight out of Charlie Chaplin), he hid a fake idol he had made at Tribal Council, hoping to pull it out at an opportune moment to save both of their games.

The swap continued a constant for Christian this season, as he went to Tribal Council in every single episode. But there were a number of variables now in his grasp, including his former David vs. Goliath compatriots in Mike White and Angelina Keeley. For one vote, it seemed like Christian was able to keep his strategic equation balanced, managing both his Season 37 trio and his alliance with Emily. But, when Mike pitched taking out Emily, even invoking a comparison to Gabby Pascuzzi, Christian was seeing red with the White Lotus creator. He felt Mike was too dangerous in this game, and not wanting to repeat the same mistakes as last time, he put together a tightrope 3-2-1 vote to take down the Nacho Libre writer from the top rope. After subsequently getting rid of Angelina, Christian made one thing very clear to his competition: Any pregame dynamics didn't matter with him. If he felt getting rid of you in the present would help his future, he was happy to make you a thing of the past.

While a lot of eyes were on Christian in the premerge, they had a lot of directions to look once the game turned individual. But, while he wasn't a target in the first couple of postmerge votes, he was still regarded by a certain percentage of the population for being a threatening "middle person." The way Christian saw it, however, that was a faulty line of code in his perception. Ozzy Lusth, on the other hand, was the prototypical example of what people said he was, someone who was playing all sides, and had the protection of an idol. So he attempted to stage another big move to reel in the iconic Survivor fisherman. The only problem: He pitched it to Ozzy's secret number one ally, Cirie Fields.

The night prior, Rick had capitalized on the heat being on him to pull out the fake idol. And, while he felt every day on Survivor resets, there was a severe antipathy towards him the next morning, giving "Captain Kirk" a target as bright as a red shirt. But the tide soon began to shift against Christian, between Jonathan Young and Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick feeling like he had strung them along, and Cirie now coming after him for throwing out Ozzy's name. Perhaps it was a recognition of this impending trouble that had Christian eagerly volunteer to go on a journey, where he faced a new twist that had him, fittingly, saying, "Ew!"

Jimmy Fallon had given him a challenge to face, with a small reward and large consequences. If he succeeded, he would get an extra vote to cast against someone right there and then. If he failed, he would make history by being forced to vote against himself. Unfortunately, while Christian's Survivor career memorably kicked off with him absolutely beasting a puzzle, it ended with him flopping on one. Christian had said getting rid of Coach Wade and Chrissy Hofbeck was like takiing out "the heart of the Death Star." But if Return of the Jedi taught us anything, it's that another one can be easily built in its place. And this one shone a beam large enough to blow his game to smithereens like Alderaan. But, as one of the best wordsmiths in 25+ years of Survivor, Christian didn't go out without speaking his mind towards a certain late-night host and superfan in his voting confessional.

"This is a message for Jimmy Fallon. How dare you? This idea you had is terrible. no more ideas for you. I look forward to your apology."

Now out of the game, Christian talks with Parade about how much he felt Jimmy Fallon truly messed with his game, why he pitched Ozzy's name to Cirie, and whether he ever told anyone about his newborn son.

First off, has the estate of Jimmy Fallon paid you any reparations for everything that went down last night?
[Laughs.] We will see. I mean, that remains to be seen. Look, Jimmy, my phone is open to you, whenever you want to get in touch. I can bring a mediator if that will help. Whatever it takes to make sure that we repair our very short friendship.

Let's get into that "friendship." I want to get your thoughts on the twist, as an analyst of the game. Because, before the journey, it sounded like some of the tide was already turning against you. So how much do you think being forced to vote for yourself is the reason why you're talking with me today?
I think it was significant. I'm not going to say, "Oh, the twist screwed me." I think it's a little cliched. But I think that the fact that I already had a vote on me when you have two targets. And to be clear, I made myself a target specifically by telling Cirie the name of Ozzy. That was just a pure mistake. And on Survivor, you're kind of only as good as your worst day. I think that was my worst day by far in the 18 days I was in the game. So it put me on the target.

But I think there was actually a legitimate chance it would have flopped to Emily. Look, I'm not sure I will ever know. But certainly, I think you heard Rizo say it, like, "No, Christian is against the wall here. Do not let him get away from it." I understand that. I don't blame him at all. So I think that it's played a role in really shifting it in the end. That's my perspective.
I wasn't in on all those conversations, but that's why I think that it did play a role.

And even if I didn't tell Cirie about the Ozzy plan, I think that me going on that journey, I'm not sure I would have in that case. I'm sorry, I'm going off on a rail here. But if I come back with a disadvantage, I think it would have been dangerous regardless. Would I have gone home? I don't know. But I think it would have coozed along Jonathan's drive to get me out. Like, "Oh, look, he's got a vote on him, too." So I think that telling Cirie or the Jimmy Fallon advantage were dangerous. But together it was pretty deadly.

You mentioned pitching Ozzy to Cirie, one half of that deadly equation. What was your perspective on their relationship, and what made you think you could pitch his name to her?
So I mean, it's good on Cirie and Ozzy! I mean, to be clear, there were rumblings about this alliance. We talked about it a lot back on Old Cila. So I feel partly it's just a boneheaded mistake. How did I forget this element? So it's just that's the simplest explanation. I lost track of all things going on with the 11 different people having relationships. I had the time to think about it. This is a two-day cycle. I kind of woke up with this terrible epiphany that Ozzy was in the middle. I mean, it's true. Ozzy was in the middle. But the tactics where I went about it [were not good]. And frankly, targeting Ozzy was probably not even the right call there, period. Why did I target Ozzy? He's the one I sensed was in the middle. But clearly, there was more going on around him.

And I'm not trying to pretend like I knew about what seems like a very strong trio of Cirie, Ozzy and Rizo. But on my sort of list of people going into the pregame of people that like would be nominally good targets, I was pretty good at staying on this sort of doctrine I set up. I had a set list of people that I felt would be like maybe taking close to the end, and some people who were just threatening because they're very good and they blend in.
That's Cirie and Rizo.

And, to be clear, he's doing great stuff. Nominally out there, he looked like he was laying in the shelter and sick and not eating. And so it really seemed like people were carrying Rizo along. I'm not saying he's not playing a great game. That was the perception I think that a lot of people had. So Cirie and Rizzo, per my doctrine, were better targets. And I ignored that. Ozzy was not on that list. And Rizo had an idol. Cirie, I wanted to keep around for longer purposes. I went off the rails of your question. But the reason that I trusted Cirie is that I actually promised her a Final Three deal on Day 1.

Right, you told me you were going to do that in the preseason, capitalizing on her fear of not making it to the end.
Yeah. And I will say she did a great job of cultivating me. She's very good. I'm going to go on record saying Cirie is quite good at Survivor. And I remember the specific pitch that I said to her was, "Look, we both have this same problem, which is punching through to the finals. You have this problem to a much greater degree than me. To be clear, I'm not you. But there are shades of the same color of the problem. And look, there's times in the early game, I'm sure it'll be helpful if I were to help you. I will help you. And come the merge, I will need you to help me. I will help you, you will help me. (5:50) And at the end, we'll help each other."

And on the way that Cirie said it in the episode, I felt there were shades of that and how she talked about her relationship with me, which was, "Yeah, Christian's my number three." Which, by the way, I'm happy to be Cirie's number three. That's very high on the list of Cirie's numbers. There's a lot of people on that list. But she said, "Oh, yeah, there are times Christian protected me. There were times that I protected him." I'm like, "Yes, that was the plan!" But I, of course, scuttled that when I just forgot — it's so silly — how close she was with Ozzy.

Let's hit on a couple of other relationships. You had a pregame relationship with Emily, and you link up quickly on the island. But you also experienced her being loose-lipped with a couple of secrets, including the idol you had given Aubry. How did your dynamic change over the course of the season?
I mean, I was surprised. I did not expect the degree to which Emily would spill these secrets.
But I will say, while I didn't always understand her tactics, I always felt that she wasn't gunning for me, and she wanted me to stick around and was willing to protect me. So to be clear, when Mike White was pitching Emily, I did listen to what he said. There was a point where I was like, "Maybe Mike is right. Maybe I'm trusting Emily too much." But then it shifted. And I was like, "No, wait, no."

I felt like Emily is acting in a way that she's a little erratic in how she shares the information.
But I think there's a method to it. But I felt that she always wanted to go deep with me and would be willing to protect me in spite of the spilling of the secrets. It wasn't an act of disloyalty. It was sort of an act of freneticism.

And I felt that that was ultimately validated at this vote. Because she could have just thrown me under the bus like, "Oh, Christian voted for himself. That's it." Instead, she tries to throw the target on Ozzy. She tries to pitch it on Ozzy. So I felt like I made the right bet. This is a person that would have been just easy to [target me]. It would have diffused our target as a group, which is, "No, I'm going to help Christian." And so I feel so vindicated that I didn't get spooked by any sort of comparisons to Gabby or things like that. I had the right read on her intentions.

Let's talk about your "Captain Kirk" in Rick Devens. Talk to me about your relationship. If you survived, how far were you planning on taking him?
I would have loved to take Rick to the end. Absolutely. I think that it's a dangerous game because he's a very likable figure who does a lot of dramatic moves at tribal council that the jury tends to love. But I think that there's something to sort of a reveal of like, "Oh, actually, that hidden idol, I tripped at Tribal Council to help hide it." The argument would be "the power behind the throne."

But truly, I would have taken him to the end because I trust him. The shenanigans that we did together require complete trust. And every time I would do these things, we would do these things for each other, it would build that trust deeper. And so it just made sense to go to the end with him. Not that I would expect it would be easy to beat him, far from it. But I think that that would be the right call to go with him to the end. I was totally willing to rock and roll with Captain Kirk.

You mentioned Mike White. I'd be remiss not to talk about you mounting this 3-2-1 vote against him. What made you decide to turn on him at this moment? And how tough was that to do, considering the years-long friendship you had up to that point?
It was hard. I mean, that swap at first, I was like, "This is great! I have options. I got people from my old tribe, people from my old season." But then, as we started going to Tribal, I was like, "This is going to show where my loyalties are." And there was this just talk in the air of the "DvG 3, Mike and Angelina and Christian, they are a tight trio." And so nominally, once you start going to Tribal Council and there are votes piling on Angelina, I was like, "Well, Angelina is the natural choice. Ozzy wants to get her out. That's an easy sort of momentum-based decision. I can just hop on that train."

But, as you saw in the episode, Mike is really trying to push to get out Emily. And it didn't quite make quite sense to me. But, in a way, I trusted his sort of character judgment on people. He's got a good judge of people. And he said, "She's going to stab you in the back, just like Gabby did." And honestly, I believed him. And I went back to Stephenie, and I said, "Stephenie, let's do Emily." And so we were going to do it.

And then I went back and talked with Mike again. And it's just like, "Ok, what are we going to do with the merge? Because that's the problem. What are we going to do with the three of us?" And he said, "We'll figure it out." And I'm like, "Oh, Mike, we need something!" I was kind of pleading with him, almost hoping that he would change his mind because of how much a bigger target I would be. And I realized there was no plan. I was going to be marching into a slaughter. I'd be taking the bullet of the three of us. And I'm like, "This has got to change." And Mike is doing everything he can to save Angelina, including trying to convince me to do something I know is a bad idea.

And so I look at it now, and I'm like, "Ok, Mike is a connecting tissue between Ozzy and Angelina. And so if Mike is removed, then Ozzy and Angelina are unlikely to work together." And I think that ultimately was borne out. And also it demonstrates to everyone that the "David vs. Goliath 3" was not as tight as they thought they were. And when I realized that, how do we do that? It has to be a 3-2-1. Ozzy can't know. It was pretty clear Ozzy would tip off Mike. Turns out that was true. So that's how it came.

But it was hard. I remember talking in an interview at the time. And there's a point where I even turned to the producer. I said, "Am I allowed to do this? Because it's Mike White." And he's like, "Christian, you can't ask that question." [Laughs.] Because in part, I knew he wouldn't like it. That was the one thing I hated about it. But I just like I wasn't going to throw my game away. I wasn't going to do it. And that's the only way to move forward without being a huge target.

Mike and Angelina have certainly had some things to say in their interviews. They've said you were "performative" and that you had made a preseason boot list. And Mike has revealed that the two of you haven't spoken since you voted him out. What's your take on your relationships with them now?
I mean, I reached out to Mike as soon as I got back. I sent him a long message saying, "You know why I did what I did." Because I really wanted to work with him. And I didn't want him to think I was always planning to deceive him and get him out. So I gave him a really long message saying all the reasons that it happened. And also, I hated the fact that it got him, because I know he cared deeply about this game. He cares so much about Survivor, and to take him out of it, I knew it would hurt him.

So I tried to give him every element of the explanation. So hopefully at some point, he absorbs that. And I hope someday he understands, and I'm hopeful that he will, because there certainly was no malice behind it.

I'm not sure what other allegations you're talking about. But I hope that everyone knows that I respect everyone on that island in terms of my time I got to spend with them. Angelina, when I voted her out, I said, "Many people know you as the 'asker of jackets, the master of negotiators.' But I see you as a loving mother of two children that you love dearly." And so we're all people. And I respect them as competitors. And I hope that one day we can really have a relationship with everyone on that island, them included.

Of course, you spoke to us a lot about Michael, your newborn son, whom you left to play, your "north star." Did you tell anyone about him once you were voted out at Ponderosa?
Once I got to Ponderosa, I was able to open up to the people there. I had one photo on this Kindle-like device of him. So I was able to show that, "Yeah, this is my son, Michael." And he was just my secret for me. It was a motivation to do the right things. Whatever other motivations come into your mind when you're on a season of Survivor, are you doing this just because it'll be silly and fun? And silly and fun is fine. But does it threaten the goal, which is to show Michael you can win?

And so that would be a phenomenal filter, an anchoring force back to what really matters. Right. And that's what he was to me. I mean, whether I would have revealed him later at any point, it would have depended. But I think that ultimately that's what he was. And so for me, I wanted to make sure that I did something to make him proud. That's what it was about.

On this day in 1987, Days of Our Lives aired the presumed ‘end’ of one of its most iconic characters, Dr. Marlena Evans Brady, played by Deidre Hall, as she exited the series for the first time.

Prior to this exit, in 1986, Hall took on double duty at NBC, balancing her full-time role on Days of Our Lives with a starring role on the primetime series Our House. She played Jessica Witherspoon on the family drama, which followed three generations living under one roof. The series also starred Wilford Brimley as the family patriarch and a young Shannen Doherty.

While Hall was away from the soap, several storylines were used to explain her character’s absence, including Marlena falling into a coma after a fall, being kidnapped and even being presumed dead in a house explosion.

Following the later, it was revealed that Marlena was, in fact, alive and being held captive on an island by the villain Orpheus (George DelHoyo), who sought revenge against her husband Roman (Drake Hogeystyn).

Roman had been involved in the death of Orpheus’s wife, fueling the villain’s vendetta.

After Our House was renewed for a second season, balancing both roles became too demanding. Hall ultimately left Days of Our Lives, and writers chose to give Marlena a more definitive exit.

On April 23, 1987, Roman confronted Orpheus on the island. After a struggle, Roman shot him, seemingly killing him. However, Marlena had already been placed on a departing plane. Roman rushed to the airport, only to witness the aircraft malfunction midair and crash, sealing Marlena’s presumed death.

Hall made one final appearance the following day, as Roman imagined saying goodbye to his wife, ending an 11 year run.

She returned to the series in 1991, when it was revealed that Marlena had survived the crash and was being held captive by Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo).

Orpheus was later revealed to have survived as well, returning in 2016. Under the alias Milo Harp, he had continued a life of crime before escaping prison with Clyde Weston (James Reed) to once again terrorize the citizens of Salem.

Hall remains a central figure on Days of Our Lives and is set to celebrate her 50th anniversary with the series on June 21, 2026.

A good crime drama is riddled with tension as lawyers and witnesses try to uncover the truth behind a murder. A screenplay by Wendell Mayes became an on-screen classic, thanks to director Otto Preminger, and became one of the best trial films ever made.

Hollywood legend James Stewart starred as the lead in the 1959 film Anatomy of a Murder, alongside Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara, Eve Arden, George C. Scott, Arthur O'Connell, Kathryn Grant, Brooks West (Arden's husband), Orson Bean, and Murray Hamilton. The film also starred a real-life lawyer during the Army-McCarthy hearing, Joseph N. Welch. Anatomy of a Murder has been tagged by Rotten Tomatoes as one of the "Best Movies of All Time" with a perfect 100% score.

The film is one of the earliest and best examples of a prime trial movie, and for good reason, thanks to its backstory. Anatomy of a Murder was originally a novel of the same name published by Michigan Supreme Court Justice John D. Voelker. He published the book under a pseudonym and developed the storyline based on a real-life 1952 murder case he presided over.

Anatomy of a Murder focuses on small-town lawyer Paul Biegler (Stewart), who takes on the defense of a U.S. Army lieutenant being accused of murdering an innkeeper who allegedly sexually assaulted his wife. Biegler builds a case on temporary insanity acted upon in a moment of rage. As the trail proceeds, conflicting testimonies, questionable motives, and moral ambiguity blur the line between truth and manipulation. The film soon explores the grey areas of justice and what really happened.

"One of cinema's greatest courtroom dramas, Anatomy of a Murder is tense, thought-provoking, and brilliantly acted, with great performances from James Stewart and George C. Scott," said Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics have called out the film for its length of over two hours, but applauded its ability to deliver a storyline with finesse to keep audiences interested until the final moment. The film did face its hiccups when it was temporarily banned for its use of language not often heard at the time. A court ruled the film used realistic and appropriate language, with words like "contraceptive", (sexual) "climax", and "spermatogenesis" having never been heard before in cinema.

Anatomy of a Murder even led Columbia Pictures to be sued by the daughter of the real-life murder victim in the 1952 case, and was later dismissed. Law professionals have also praised the film for its ability to demonstrate a legal defense, and ranked by the American Film Institute as a classic. It has since been preserved in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

A new collection of music from Asa Orbison blends fresh music with a thoughtful sense of tradition and timeless influence.

In a Parade exclusive Orbison discussed her musical journey and latest project, Swedish Jazz Standards. The LP was produced by her husband, Roy Orbison, Jr., and includes a mix of traditional jazz standards with Swedish lyrics.

Orbison was influenced by songs she grew up listening to. She was fascinated by Swedish artists such as Monica Zetterlund, Alice Babs, and Siw Malmkvist, who came to the United States in the '60s to play with jazz greats like Duke Ellington and Bill Evans.

Her love for jazz continued throughout her adult life. When she met Roy Jr. at a park in Sweden, they clicked immediately and carried on a long-distance relationship before she moved to the United States where they married and welcomed four children: Roy Orbison III, Bo, Love, and Sun.

Orbison said that through their partnership, Roy Jr. came to deeply appreciate jazz music. "Roy was alone in my apartment while I was at work. He would listen to my [jazz] records. Although he was rock and roll, he really got into it."

Today, Roy Jr. acts as his wife's producer. His love of the genre, paired with his deep devotion to his wife, helps shape a body of work that feels both timeless and distinctly personal.

"Roy has a lot of ideas, whether its a horn, or guitar solo, or the way the piano should sound. He's got a very complicated brain and he thinks about the music and works on it all the time," Orbison explained.

The track list for the LP Swedish Jazz Standards includes the songs "Värmlandsvisan,” "“Sakta Vi Gå Genom Stan (Walking My Baby Back Home)," “Lullaby of Birdland,” “En Bedårande Sommarvals (Bluesette),” “I New York,” "“Midnattssolen (Midnight Sun)," “Monicas Vals,” and “Familjen Flinta.”

Roy Jr.’s production creates a strong artistic bridge between the United States and Sweden. He said in a statement, "As a producer, I see Swedish Jazz Standards as a uniquely
well-grounded project, both historically and musically. Asa has a clear artistic direction and an ability to interpret the material with authenticity, while also bringing her own distinct voice to it."

The couple teamed up with legendary Swedish jazz guitarist Ulf Wakenius [who played with legendry jazz pianist Oscar Peterson] for the collection of songs, and his masterful playing adds depth and texture to the project.

Roy said of the collaboration, "I have followed Ulf Wakenius’s work for a long time, and his musicality, precision, and international experience add a level of depth that is essential to the whole. Together, we are creating a production that serves as a natural link between the Swedish jazz tradition and the American standard repertoire.”

The couple’s love of music is generational. Roy Jr.’s father, Roy Orbison Sr., helped shape the sound of early rock and pop with his soaring voice, emotional ballads, and timeless songwriting, leaving behind a catalog of hits that defined an era and influenced countless artists.

Today, the couple’s son, Roy Orbison III, is showing the same passion for music. At just 10 years old, he’s supported not only by his family legacy but by a close-knit circle of friends who feel like family and encourage him along the way.

Orbison explained, "He has already been on stage with Joe Walsh [The Eagles, who is his godfather. Walsh's wife Marjorie is his godmother]. He was six years old when he played 'Rocky Mountain Way' on stage in front of 22,000 people."

Orbison added that while other children might have been intimidated, Roy III was excited. She shared he already has a plan for his future; he wants to "get married, be a rock star, retire early and spend time with his family."

Roy Orbison Sr. would have been 90 years old on April 23, 2026. He died in 1988 at 52.

Absolutely no complaints on the portion sizes here, but sometimes when you find a dreamy new dessert at Costco, you have to stop and ask yourself if you’re game to eat that much of the same thing. The pineapple upside-down cakes from We Take the Cake are topped with pineapple rings and a rich brown sugar sauce, prompting the influencer to declare, “This was incredible!”

The box retails for $12.99, and as seen in the video, the cakes are easy to make, popping out of their bundt mold and onto a plate with ease after heating. “It was so moist, buttery, it was slightly gooey and had a little bit of a crisp around the edges,” the influencer said in the video’s voiceover, revealing that it “literally tasted homemade.”

Commenters flocked to the comments to give their take on the Costco find, writing that they “Can’t wait to try” the “Perfectly personally sized” sweet treat. “Looks good,” said a third fan, as one suggested adding an extra touch to the “delicious” dessert at home. “This and a jar of Luxardo Maraschino cherries would take it over the top!” Another took it one step further, explaining that they would “torch the top a bit but this looks amazing.” 

“No negative comments from this Costco shopper. These cakes are delicious,” said one rave review, though another felt that it was too sweet for their palate, writing, “Extremely sweet, I couldn’t even taste any flavor because of how sweet it is. It’s a no for me.”

Julia Duffy rose to stardom as Stephanie Vanderkellen on the TV series Newhart, but the TV staple is looking incredible these days.

The talented actress, 74, tackled the role of Vanderkellen on the popular series, which starred legendary actor Bob Newhart as an author and inn owner in a picturesque Vermont town. Duffy’s character was a spoiled cousin who attempted to serve as the inn’s maid, despite her entitled attitude. She played the role from 1983 until 1990, when the beloved show concluded.

After her most iconic role, Duffy went on to play Allison Sugarbaker on Designing Women and ventured into children’s territory with the popular Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh. Also boasting a successful theatrical career, Duffy delights fans by returning to TV screens as Mary Jones Davidsoul in Palm Royale, the popular Apple TV series that follows the drama of high society in Palm Beach, Florida, starting in 1969. The series also stars Kristen Wiig, Leslie Bibb, Josh Lucas, and comedy icon Carol Burnett.

This week, Duffy hit the red carpet alongside Celeste Hughey for the NBCUniversal Emmy Luncheon at Avra Beverly Hills Estiatorio in Beverly Hills, California. With a natural glow on her face, the actress is truly in her prime.

What Has Julia Duffy Said About Aging in Hollywood?

In a 2024 podcast appearance, Duffy spoke about how aging in Hollywood is “very awkward.”

During an appearance on Steve Kmetko’s podcast, Still Here Hollywood, Kmetko asked Duffy if aging in Hollywood had affected her.

“I’ll tell you something that drives me up a wall, because it’s symbolic of all of it,” Duffy said. “I have read for and actually played the role of a woman who’s older, that they have named Myrna — that takes place present day.”

PEOPLE pointed out that the role was for an appearance on Melissa & Joey in 2010.

“Now, I know what people were named who are my age, now. We were Patty and Kathy and Susie. These women that they write in older roles could have been at Woodstock,” said Duffy. “If you’re having them be 70 today in 2024.”

“You have to write the person and not the type. And it is very disappointing to me how much even younger writers seem to be writing Aunt Bee or something when they write an older person and not an individual,” Duffy continued. “I hope they’re listening and I know you have the talent to do it. Make that a real person.”

27-year-old Carolina Flores Gomez, a former beauty queen, was found dead on April 15. According to Reporte Indigo, she was discovered at her home in the Miguel Hidalgo district of Mexico City with a gunshot wound to the head.

“Authorities believe she was killed a day before her body was discovered, leading to suspicions about why her husband, Alejandro Gomez, took so long to call emergency services,” Us Weekly reported.

The police believe that Alejandro and his mother, Erika Maria, were home at the time that the incident occurred. The report stated that Maria is currently the prime suspect in the apparent homicide.

Us Weekly also reported, “Building staff did not report hearing gunshots or witnessing any unusual activity at the apartment complex prior to the beauty queen’s untimely death. Forensic teams have reportedly searched the apartment for evidence.”

The Mexico City prosecutor’s office stated that an official investigation into her death has been launched.

“No crime against a woman should go unpunished,” Marina del Pilar Avila, the governor of Mexico’s Baja California state, told reporters. “Our thoughts are with her family during this devastating time.”

Carolina, who was a model and influencer, won Miss Teen Universe for Baja California in 2017. She also earned several local titles in Ensenada, her hometown, which is a port city located on the Pacific coast.

Miss Teen Universe is a global TV pageant that is meant to empower future queens. Their official site describes the competition as “the highest youth beauty contest in the world; and a global entertainment platform, with a staff of great professionals in the industry of beauty contests and international television. We have our own resources and with allied agencies from the world of fashion, advertising, television, film and digital media, to develop micro and macro events of high global impact in all areas.”

Unfortunately, Carolina is not the only pageant queen who has died in the recent months. Raquel Escalante, the woman who was named Miss Intercontinental Guatemala in 2021, died after a battle with cervical cancer in late 2025. Tyra Spaulding, who won Miss Universe Jamaica, died in September 2025 from a suspected suicide.

Ancient Aliens star David Wilcock is dead at 53 — and his cause of death has been revealed.

On Wednesday, April 22, the Boulder County Coroner's Office in Colorado confirmed Wilcock's death in a news release.

Ancient Aliens Star David Wilcock's Cause of Death Was Also Revealed

On Monday, April 20, a 911 call was placed at around 10:44 a.m., according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department.

"The emergency communications specialist who took the call suspected the caller was experiencing a mental health crisis," the release detailed. "Deputies arrived at approximately 11:02 a.m. and made contact with a male outside a residence who was holding a weapon."

Tragically, "within minutes" of the deputies arriving, Wilcock "used the weapon on himself." Hew was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the comments of his most recent Instagram post, fans reacted to the news of Wilcock's death. Many shared conspiracy theories about his cause of death. However, others thanked Wilcock for his contributions.

One follower wrote, "God Bless you David wherever you are. You were and stiill are the brightest of lights. Thank you for sharing what you knew with all of us. 🥺."

Another shared, "My condolences to his family and friends. A true light being embodied. You will be missed David. May your soul rest in peace 🙏."

David Wilcock's Last Social Media Post Is Eerie

Wilcock's last social media post was on April 18, when he took to X with a message for his fans.

"My Dear Family, I am not yet sure if I am doing a show tomorrow. I've had some very intense stuff going on this weekend," he began the post. "Either way, I want you all to know how much I love and appreciate you! Always remember that the Creator is within — and we live in a loving universe. I am very grateful to you for all of your love, care and support."

Prince Louis recently celebrated his eighth birthday, and his proud parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, just shared an absolutely adorable video of their kiddo in honor of the milestone moment.

The royals, they’re just like us. Okay, maybe they aren’t exactly like the rest of us. But the royal children do, at times, have normal-ish lives. And while most of us could only view living in a historic estate, spending time at Kensington Palace, and jet-setting across the globe as normal-adjacent, Kate MiddletonandPrince William do prioritize giving their children…well, a childhood. 

In the recent Bday video, Prince Louis does what most eight-year-olds enjoy. He digs in the sand with a kid-sized shovel, jumps into the ocean for a splashy swim, joyfully runs across a beach, and boldly hits a ball while playing cricket.

The Prince and Princess of Wales caption the cute clip, “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Prince Louis. 8 is great!” Judging by the smile on his face in the video, eight certainly is great.

Royal watchers and fans of the family took to Instagram to send their birthday wishes to the young prince. One commenter pointed out just how down-to-earth the little boy is, “Love seeing the prince’s normal life.” Another added, “Watching him grow from a toddler to an 8-year-old has been wonderful!”

Some commenters compared Louis to his sibling, noting, “He looks like Prince George” and “Looking like his big brother!” One fan even compared the royal to their own child, writing, “Prince Louis shares the same birthday as my son Freddie, who is 11 today. The royals recently marked the momentous event with a reception at Buckingham Palace, attended by King Charles, Queen Camilla,Prince William, Kate Middleton, Princess Anne, Princess Alexandra, and plenty of other high-ranking family members. 

Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, also commemorated the day by attending the grand opening of The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in The Regent’s Park, London. But the royal tributes didn’t stop there. The princess’s brother, King Charles, visited the British Museum to view a scale model of a new memorial sculpture dedicated to his mother, Queen Elizabeth.

Based on all the photos and the new video clip, the royals certainly have a lot to celebrate right now!

Running is my therapy and exercise of choice. But I've long incorporated yoga into my routine, too. My baseline is "stiff." A neurology nurse practitioner who helps me with my migraines and a physical therapist who treated me for a tendon tear in my right hand were both appalled by the tension I carry in my body (and both of these hot takes came within two months). Also, running half and full marathons puts a lot of wear and tear on my legs, and stretching keeps me flexible.

As a health writer, I've pored over research showing that yoga can help improve flexibility and balance, prevent injuries (I am D-O-N-E done with injuries for 2026, thanks), boost mood and reduce anxiety (yes and yes, please).

I've done lots of different types of yoga over the years, largely thanks to the Peloton library: Power, vinyasa, slow flow and my two favorites, yin and restorative. To date, I have never tried "wall yoga," though I have recently heard of "wall Pilates" (because Pilates has re-entered the zeitgeist). For the uninitiated, wall yoga is precisely what it sounds like: Yoga with the assistance of a wall.

I'm always down for new ways to stretch and relax, given everything I know about the benefits. When my editor offered me the chance to try wall yoga, I jumped on it and started right away. The results were instant and a little surprising. Here's what happened when I tried wall yoga for 30 days.

How I Approached Wall Yoga for 30 Days

Unlike some boutique workout modalities (including some forms of yoga, TBH), wall yoga required very little. All I needed was a mat (check), a wall (check) and time.

I did some noodling around YouTube and Google to find some wall yoga moves. I didn't want to overthink things, so I chose five of my favorite moves from other practices I've tried and translated them to wall yoga. Every morning for 30 days, I did:

1. Easy Standing Forward Bend

1. Stand facing the wall an arm's length away. Position your feet hip-width distance apart.
2. Hinge at the hips and keep your back straight as you place your hands on the wall at shoulder height. Spread your fingers and keep a slight knee bend.
3. Hold for 30 seconds, breathing deeply and steadily as you do.
4. Slowly return to the starting position.

My thoughts: This move was easily my favorite. It was like instant therapy for my tense shoulders and upper back because it put me in a different position than I'm in while hunched over a computer.

2. Chair Pose

1. Stand with your back to the wall (about six inches away). Place your feet hip-width apart.
2. Keep your back (butt included) against the wall as you sink down as if you are about to sit in a chair. Pull the belly button in toward the spine to engage the core.
3. Hold for 30 seconds and return to start.

My thoughts: OK, I know I said that I picked my favorite poses. But I have a love-hate relationship with chair pose. I love the strength it builds in my lower body, but I don't particularly enjoy holding it. Having my back against the wall helped me feel strong and supported, though.

3. Wall-Supported Figure Four

1. Sit with your legs bent in front of the wall, far enough away so you can place your feet at a 90-degree angle in a few steps.
2. Roll onto your back slowly.
3. Put your legs up onto the wall.
4. Bend both knees to 90 degrees, keeping your feet flat against the wall.
5. Cross your left ankle over your right thigh, right above the knee. Look closely—you made a four.
6. Keep your hands comfy. I kept mine by my sides with my palms up, but sometimes experimented with putting one on the leg crossed over the thigh for a deeper stretch.
7. Hold for a minute or longer, breathing deeply.
8. Return to start.
9. Repeat on the opposite side.

My thoughts: My glutes always need a good stretch. Doing this pose daily was precisely what my butt needed to stay in gear.

4. Wall-Supported Tree Pose

1. Stand with your back to the wall. Your back should lightly graze the wall.
2. Raise your left foot to the side of the right shin (or thigh just above the knee).
3. Put your hands into prayer.
4. Hold for one minute.
5. Slowly return to start.
6. Repeat on the opposite side.

My thoughts: Honestly, the best part of this pose was the stillness and breathing. It was pure, wall-supported bliss.

My 30-Day Experience With Wall Yoga

I have absolutely no drawbacks to share after my 30-day experience with wall yoga. Of the many benefits I experienced, my favorites were:

• It became a transition ritual. Working from home removes the commute, which is great because I despise traffic and mass transit delays. Yet, I miss the time to center myself in "work mode." Adding wall yoga at the beginning of each workday gave me a sort of "fake commute."
• I felt mentally focused and more at ease. By incorporating deep breathing into each pose, I felt more relaxed right away and noticed it set the tone for a calmer, more grounded workday, even if I had to hop on a last-minute story or call.
• I can't beat the accessibility. No yoga studio? Traveling? No problems. You can still do wall yoga as long as you have a mat. It's something I can see myself doing this summer while I'm on vacation.
• Wall yoga soothed my stiffness. After 30 days of wall yoga, I feel less strain on my glute muscles, and my back and shoulders crack way less. I'll take every small win I can get.
• I felt more motivated. As I began noticing the benefits of wall yoga, I started incorporating it as part of a lunchtime ritual. It gave me a microbreak from work, and I noticed less stiffness and improved concentration.

Would I Recommend Wall Yoga?

I would absolutely recommend wall yoga to anyone looking for more relaxation, ritual, grounding and stretching in their lives. It doesn't require equipment, and its gentle nature is accessible for most people. Here are a few top takeaways and tips for anyone interested in trying wall yoga:

1. Make sure you have a soft surface. You don't need a mat. But if you have hardwood floors as I do, you'll want one to protect your back and knees. A towel or blanket could also work.
2. Have some space. You'll want to have enough room to stretch your arms and legs in all directions so you don't start knocking into items in your home mid-pose (it's not relaxing to bonk your head on a kitchen chair, trust me).
3. Schedule time for it. Carve out time in your day for wall yoga and treat it like an appointment. Even a few minutes can help you feel more relaxed and less stiff.
4. Progress if you want. It's totally fine to stick with a couple of minutes of wall yoga once per day and to modify poses. But as you progress, you may want to add another session, hold a pose for longer or raise your foot a little higher on Tree Pose.
5. Celebrate small wins. When building a habit, it's so important to have some intrinsic motivation. If you notice your back is less stiff, you could progress a move, or you simply made time for wall yoga, give yourself some credit. You're doing your best.

What Did Swank Say About Receiving the Award?

Chronicling Her Parenting Journey

Since welcoming her two children with husband Philip Schneider in 2023, Swank has done her best to fly under the radar. However, she occasionally shares pictures of her kids on Instagram.

Over the Christmas holiday, the star shared a photo of the tiny tots from behind as they stood in front of the Christmas tree.
