It’s time to check your medicine cabinets, as a popular over-the-counter stomach and gas medication has been voluntarily recalled. Haleon has issued a voluntary recall for specific lots of Gas-X, an over-the-counter medication used to alleviate gas and stomach pain, due to potential contamination from machine coolant.

Four lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels 125mg, 120 ct. and 72 ct., which were distributed on or about April 13 through May 14, “are being recalled due to potential contamination with a diluted propylene glycol-based coolant from a machine leakage during the packaging process,” states a notice issued by the Food and Drug Administration. 

It continues, stating that “there is a potential that ingestion of the Softgels contaminated with the diluted propylene glycol-based coolant may result in adverse events such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea.” As of publication, there have been no reports of adverse events related to the recall.

The affected Gas-X softgels are green and came in packaging with a green band. The following lots, which all have expiration dates of November 30, 2028, were affected:

Distributors and consumers are being notified by Haleon by letter, e-mail, and phone call, and the company is arranging for the return of the recalled products. Consumers are urged to review the lot numbers of their Gas-X Extra Strength Softgel purchases and, if the lot number matches the recalled products, to stop taking it immediately. Furthermore, they are asked to contact the Haleon Consumer Relations team at +1-800-245-1040 (Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET), or via mystory.us@haleon.com or https://haleon.help/en-us/contact-form to arrange for a return of the product and request reimbursement.

If consumers have ingested the affected product and are experiencing any issues, they should also contact their medical provider for further guidance.

Air Supply, the legendary rock band behind the hit song "All Out of Love," delivered a major update to fans ahead of its A Matter of Time tour.

As the iconic duo gears up for their highly anticipated run this year, they announced exciting changes to their lineup.

In an Instagram update, the award-winning musicians expanded their world tour, adding four more dates, including the Philippines, as well as additional one-night shows in New Jersey, Florida and China.

The A Matter of Time tour will have a six-month run beginning in Canada on June 26 and continuing through Nov. 22 in Florida, but it will continue the next year on Feb. 6 for the finale.

Air Supply's forthcoming tour is in celebration of the band's 18th studio album, A Matter of Time, released on Feb. 26.

The studio album also marked Russell Hitchcock's and Graham Russell's first studio album in 16 years. The last album they released was Mumbo Jumbo in May 2010.

For more than 50 years, Air Supply has been showcasing its timeless hits on stage, but Hitchcock said he will never “get tired” of it and here's why.

“Every night, people ask ‘Don’t you get tired of playing these songs after 50 years?’ And I don’t,” he told the New York Post, adding, “They’re great songs and every show is different because every audience is different.”

The 76-year-old singer revealed that they have no issue with enthusiastic and high-energy fans in the audience.

“When Airheads come to shows, they get into it,” the lead vocalist explained. “Air Supply fans don’t sit on their hands and absorb the music. They want to party and it’s usually loud, lots of singing. Honestly, if you’re not singing along, there’s something wrong with you.”

This is also one of the reasons why the duo have remained beloved by fans and relevant for so many decades.

The 1980s saw the release of many memorable movies that would go on to earn legendary status among film lovers of all ages. One of those movies? The Goonies, a beloved family favorite that is now regarded as a cult classic. Upon its theatrical release, the nostalgic film brought in over $65 million against a $19 million and went on to win multiple awards. In 1986, Astin won the award for "Best Starring Performance by a Young Actor in a Motion Picture" at the Young Artist Awards, while Ramsay took home "Best Supporting Actress" at the Saturn Awards. 2017 saw the much-loved movie be selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

In 2025, the cast reunited for the film's 40th anniversary, and their bond was still as tight as it was four decades earlier.

"We really were like a family," Green told TODAY in an interview. "A big dysfunctional, but loving, family. It was such an important time for all of us, it was such an important period of the age that we were at. We really grew up together."

The story behind one of the late 1970s' most memorable one-hit wonders is anything but ordinary. Inspired by a poem, a catchy guitar riff, and a challenge, the song went on to become an unlikely blue-eyed soul classic.

Released in 1976, "Smoke From a Distant Fire" caught listeners' attention. Its distinctive sound and unforgettable hook turned Sanford-Townsend Band into chart stars almost overnight.

According to American Songwriter, the song originated during a college visit by John Townsend to his friend Ed Sanford. Sanford's roommate was a guitarist named Steven Stewart, who was said to stay up all night practicing classical guitar.

In response to his roommate's constant classical playing, Sanford challenged Stewart to come up with more commercial-sounding music. In reply, Stewart played a guitar riff that would become the basis for "Smoke From a Distant Fire."

After learning the riff, Townsend worked with some lyric ideas from Stewart and built the rest of the song around a poem he had written while in college. The finished track told the story of someone confronting a partner's infidelity and the heartbreak that comes with it.

Townsend and Sanford would go on to form a music group called The Heart, which ultimately disbanded. The pair headed to Los Angeles, where they went on to sign a publishing deal as songwriters.

Producer Jerry Wexler heard the duo's demo and helped get them signed to Warner Brothers Records. Wexler would eventually produce "Smoke From a Distant Fire" at Muscle Shoals Studios in Alabama for Sanford-Townsend Band's self-titled debut LP.

In an interview with AL.com, Townsend claimed, "That was a rare treat. Working in Muscle Shoals was always an education. Working with Jerry Wexler was graduate school."

"Smoke From a Distant Fire" would hit No. 9 on the Billboard Charts in 1977. It was the group's only Top 10 hit.

Its success would propel the Sanford-Townsend Band to opening act for Fleetwood Mac's Rumors Tour. Townsend told AL.com that the band was "a little stuck up for us." He alleged that during the year-and-a-half tour, Fleetwood Mac didn't allow their openers a sound check.

Additionally, the group opened for both Marshall Tucker and the Charlie Daniels Band. "We all spoke the same language," Townsend said. "We were always treated as equals and became great friends with most of them."

The Sanford-Townsend Band broke up in 1980 after two more albums, Duo-Glide and Nail Me to the Wall. However, both men ultimately found other success in the music industry.

According to Culture-Sonar, "Sanford co-wrote Michael McDonald’s 1982 hit 'I Keep Forgettin,' and was featured on McDonald’s solo disc If That’s What It Takes. Townsend formed the Townsend/Toler Band with guitarist Dan Toler and released a solo album, The Road Leads Home."

The Cure made history this weekend after bringing back a fan-favorite hit to their headlining set at Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona.

Taking the stage on June 5, the British gothic rock band surprised fans with a performance of "Mint Car," a song that they hadn't previously played since 2016, ending a decade-long absence for the deep cut.

The revival of "Mint Car" was an unexpected treat for fans, marking it as one of the biggest standout moments of the rockers' 29-song set, which featured hits that span across the band's 50 year career. They kicked off the set with 2024's "Alone" and closing with 1979's "Boys Don't Cry." The performance, which started a lengthy European tour, was also the first time that the six-piece have performed live since 2024.

"Mint Car" was originally released on Wild Mood Swings, the band's 10th studio album which came out in 1996. At the time of its release, the track peaked at No. 31 on the UK Singles chart and No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Elsewhere at the festival, during a surprise set, Olivia Rodrigoannounced her first-ever collaboration with none other than Robert Smith. The musicians performed their new song, "What’s Wrong With Me," which will feature on Rodrigo's forthcoming album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, set to be released on June 12.

"It’s really special to me for so many reasons… primarily because it’s my first collaboration," the "Bad Idea Right?" hitmaker told the crowd. "I can’t believe this song exists and with the person that it exists with.”

The Primavera Sound duet wasn't the first time that the unlikely pair have teamed up for a live performance. In her 2025 headlining set at Glastonbury Festival, Rodrigo invited Smith to join her on stage to perform "Just Like Heaven" and "Friday I’m In Love."

One 1973 song has become an enduring hit that is still a fan-favorite decades later, and this is partially thanks to a piano part scribbled on a pizza box during recording. The song in question, Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "Takin' Care of Business," was first released on the band's album Bachman–Turner Overdrive II, but over time, it became one of the group's strongest legacies.

The song was actually in its early stages when band member Randy Bachman was still a part of his earlier band, the Guess Who, but it eventually found a home with Bachman-Turner Overdrive. The story behind how "Takin' Care of Business" came together is an interesting one, with a key detail revolving around a pizza box.

Bachman-Turner Overdrive member Robin "Robbie" Bachman talked about how the song came to be in an interview with New York Waste, recalling how the band was recording the song when someone in a neighboring studio booth came in and declared that it needed piano.

The man left, only to return when the music engineer pulled him back. He first asked the band if they wanted piano in the song, saying he only had six minutes to spare to make it work. Robbie said, "He then picks up a pizza box, proceeds to write the chord progression on the cardboard box, puts it down on the piano, and plays it once. It sounds great."

"He then asks us to send him a check and he leaves us his card. The fellow's name is Norman Durkee," he went on, noting that the band credited Durkee on the song. At the time, Durkee was a young, rising musician, but he went on to be a successful composer, pianist, and music director, working with the likes of Bette Midler and Barry Manilow.

Durkee's piano part in "Takin' Care of Business" remains one of his most memorable musical contributions, and it helped the song rocket to success, with the track peaking at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It's since become an enduring anthem for rock fans everywhere.

True Blood, the popular supernatural drama from HBO, ran from 2008 to 2014. Anna Camp joined the show during season 2 as Sarah Newlin, then returned during seasons 6 and 7. During an interview with PEOPLEduring MPTF's 2026 NextGen Summer Party on May 31, she spoke about the rumors that have been swirling about a reboot.

"I do know, like, how cool would it be if there was a True Blood [reboot], a second coming of such an amazing series,” she said. “Talk about a family, right? Camp added, "And Sarah Newlin is not dead. So she could come back.”

In an interview with Televisionary in 2009, Camp spoke about how much fun she had playing her character, who was considered “a bit of comic relief” for the show. She said, “It's also really easy to be funny when you're working with funny actors. It is something that I really love to do, and I hope I get to do more of it. I love to make people laugh, and it's also fun to balance that line because Sarah has some great scenes where she wasn't funny and was incredibly distraught. To be able to go from scene to scene believably, hopefully, is great, and it's great that the writers gave me such diverse scenes to play.”

True Blood was based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries by the bestselling author, Charlaine Harris. The series was narrated by Sookie Stackhouse, who was played by Anna Paquin in the HBO series.

Pink credits therapy—both individual and couples—for saving her relationship with Hart after their first split. She revealed in an Instagram Live, "It's the only reason that we're still together. In a June 2 TikTok, @samsclublovers spotted the new find, and it's already getting plenty of attention from dessert lovers.

The single-slice options include Tuxedo Bar Cake and Confetti Bar Cake, two bakery favorites now available in grab-and-go portions. The slices look generously sized, with layers of cake, frosting, and filling that make them feel more like a bakery treat than a quick snack.

The new offering also gives shoppers more opportunities to enjoy Sam's Club bakery desserts. While the warehouse's full-size cakes are popular for birthdays, graduations, and celebrations, an individual slice fits just as easily into an ordinary shopping trip.

Even better, as part of Sam's Club's "Made Without" commitment, Member's Mark bakery products are made without certified synthetic colors and high-fructose corn syrup. Earlier this year, Sam's Club announced it had reached its goal of removing more than 40 ingredients from its private-brand food and beverage products, including artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, and synthetic dyes.

The idea quickly resonated with shoppers in the comments.

For many shoppers, that's exactly the appeal. Sometimes you want a slice of cake after dinner, something sweet for a movie night, or a treat to enjoy on the drive home from Sam's Club. Now there's an option that doesn't require planning a party first.

Availability may vary by warehouse, but these $2.98 cake slices are one of the most exciting bakery additions Sam's Club has introduced this year.

Don McLean, who is most famous for his hit “American Pie,” released another iconic song 55 years ago. “Vincent,” also known as “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night), was inspired by the famous Vincent van Gogh painting from 1889, The Starry Night.

McLean revealed the origin of the song in a 2022 interview with Forbes. “I read this book about van Gogh and his brother,” he said. “I thought, ‘Since the brother and Vincent had similar illnesses, wouldn’t it be interesting to write that story?’ But how am I going to do it? I mean, one man singing to another about his art and death could be really stupid if you didn’t find a way to make the song beautiful and elegant. I like beautiful things, have a dash of elegance myself. Then it hit me. All I had to do was look at Starry Night. When I did, the painting wrote the song. I don’t do the melody first, then tack the words on. I just sing into a tape recorder, and the song comes right out of me.”

McLean also revealed how long the song took to write. "'Vincent' might have taken a couple of hours of fooling around with it,” he said. “I still have the lyrics written down on this green paper I used to carry with me.”

Those lyrics, scrawled on the green paper, went up for auction for over one million dollars. Gary Zimet, a rare documents dealer, said, “They are written in pencil. There are some corrections. They differ very slightly from the final lyrics, which show he really had the song well thought out in his head when he wrote it.”

When “Vincent” was first released, it topped the UK Singles Chart and rose to No. 2 on the Easy Listening chart in the United States. Billboard also ranked the song one of the 100 best from 1972.

McLean is now 80. He is still touring. When asked why he continues to do so, he said, “It’s what I do. I’m not me unless I do it. To not do it would be much more negative and damaging than if I do do it. The work is life-affirming.”

1. Open Floor Plans

Once majorly in vogue, open floor plans are no longer as appealing to today’s buyers, notes Jake Kennedy, an affiliate broker with Compass based in Nashville, Tennessee. “People are looking for homes with separation,” he says. “They want designated spaces for different parts of their daily lives.” Kennedy notes that this desire is especially common among young families where at least one parent works from home full-time. “They want to be able to close a door and focus instead of the entire house acting as one big echoey room,” Kennedy explains. 

2. Gray Floors

The color of flooring in your home can matter more than you might think. “I’ve had multiple buyers groan the second they see gray floors,” Kennedy says. “They definitely had a moment, but buyers are over it.” Essentially, Kennedy elaborates, the look reads as “flip house,” and many buyers are tired of seeing it repeated again and again.

Speaking of the color gray, buyers aren’t loving seeing it on the walls of a room, either. Instead, buyers are more attracted to “warmer, earthy colors such as cream, beige and eggshell white,” shares Sherri Flaherty, broker and owner at Realty ONE Group Platinum in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. “Today’s buyers prefer spaces that are softer, brighter and more inviting than the all-gray colors of the past.” 

4. Wall-to-Wall Carpeting

While wall-to-wall carpeting is less common today than it was decades ago, it’s still something that buyers are averse to when touring spaces, explains Diane Gray, a realtor with the Keyes Company in Boynton Beach, Florida. “It can hold onto allergens, pet odors and stains,” she notes. To many, it just signals the need for a project in the near future. Gray says, “For buyers who want a home that feels move-in ready, carpet often comes across as one more thing they’ll need to rip out and replace with hardwood or luxury vinyl plank.” 

5. Dark Granite Countertops

What was all the rage in the kitchens of the 2000s is seen as dated now, Gray shares. Today’s buyers are all about a simpler look. “They’re much more interested in cleaner, lower-maintenance surfaces like quartz, especially with those soft, marble-like veining patterns,” she says. 

6. Formal Dining Rooms

The days of entertaining around a sizable dining table—at least on a regular basis—may be behind us. “Many residential home buyers today do not want a formal dining room,” Flaherty states. “The trend is moving towards multiple eating options such as eat-in kitchens, breakfast nooks and screened-in areas with space for eating.”

What people want, the realtor adds, is a work-from-home space or bonus room—in fact, she explains, many people will turn an existing dining room into such a space once they’ve moved in.

The desire for simplicity extends into the bathroom, too, where less is often more, according to Gray. Specifically, the jetted tubs of the past that enchanted buyers aren’t so much of a winning feature anymore. “A lot of buyers see them as taking up too much space, using too much water, and being more trouble than they’re worth to keep clean,” Gray says. “In most cases, they’d much rather have a large, luxurious walk-in shower.”

When asked what nutritional qualities she looks for in a healthy snack, Struik said she prioritizes nutrient density above all else.

"I personally look at what I would consider a good nutrient-dense profile," she tells Parade. "For me, this means fiber content, protein and healthy fats, while limiting sodium and added sugars."

As for the single healthiest snack currently available at Dollar Tree, she points to nuts. "There are so many great options," she says. "I personally love that they carry Wonderful Pistachios. While shopping at Dollar Tree, Struik recommends paying close attention to both nutrition labels and ingredient lists. "I really push fiber intake," she says. "I think that's one area that we could all do better in. Incorporating fiber into your snacks will make sure you hit your daily fiber goals."

Instead of granola bars, she recommends choosing less processed alternatives, explaining, "You are much better off grabbing alternatives here, such as the fruit purees or freeze-dried fruit snacks. Instead of granola bars, look at different nut or seed mixes, or protein bars, as these will keep you fuller than a granola bar with lots of added sugars."

Eyebrow mapping is a technique used to determine the ideal shape, arch and length of the brow based on your facial structure.

"The process uses precise measurements, typically taken with a mapping string or straight tool, to identify three key anchor points: where the brow should begin, where the arch should peak and where the tail should end," Robinson explains.

"From there, I use those points to outline the brow shape before removing any hair," she continues. "It takes the guesswork out of brow shaping and gives both the client and the artist a clear roadmap before anything is removed."

How Does Eyebrow Mapping Work? A Step-by-Step Guide

The mapping process comes down to three points on the face, and Robinson breaks them down simply:

• Place a pencil vertically from the corner of your nose upward—that's where your brow should begin.
• Angle it diagonally from the dimple of your nose to the outside of your iris—that's where your arch should peak.
• Tilt it from the side of your nostril to the outer corner of your eye—that's where your brow should end.

In a professional setting, a gel pen or mapping string is used to mark those points precisely before any shaping begins.

At home, an angled liner brush dipped in eyeshadow or a brow pencil works fine. "The tools matter less than understanding the methodology behind what you're measuring and why," Robinson says.

Can You Do Eyebrow Mapping at Home?

Robinson actually recommends it!

"I encourage clients to understand the basics so they're not over-tweezing or altering their shape between appointments," she says.

That being said, she draws a clear distinction between mapping as a reference guide and mapping as a precision tool, explaining, "In a professional setting, we're accounting for bone structure and asymmetries that are easy to miss on yourself. For any major shaping decisions, especially if you're considering removing hair, I'd always recommend having a professional do it."

How To Find the Best Brow Shape for Your Face

"I'd caution against treating it as a rigid formula," Robinson says. "I really suggest following your natural brow shape as much as possible, especially if you're tweezing at home."

She looks at is the full picture: eye spacing, the natural direction of hair growth and where a client already has density, explaining, "The best brow shape isn't about matching a face shape chart—it's about working with what's already there."

How Eyebrow Mapping Helps With Brow Symmetry

One of the biggest benefits of mapping is what it does for symmetry—or rather, the appearance of it. "Mapping gives you objective reference points rather than relying on your eye alone which, when you're working on your own face in a mirror, is almost always going to deceive you," Robinson says.

By measuring both sides from the same fixed points on the face, you can identify where natural asymmetry exists and make intentional choices about how to address it.

As Robinson explains, "The goal isn't to erase asymmetry entirely—it's to create the visual impression of balance."

If you haven't already heard the saying, many in the beauty industry repeat the mantra, "Brows are sisters, not twins."

"There will always be some natural variation, and trying to force a perfect mirror image can make them look more uneven," she continues. "I think about balance over symmetry."

The Most Common Eyebrow Mapping Mistakes

Robinson sees the same mistakes come up again and again. The first is starting the brows too far apart, and she reiterates to start the brow directly above the outer corner of the nose.

The second is chasing symmetry too aggressively, and the third—one that has real long-term consequences—is over-tweezing the tail.

"Once that length is gone, it takes a long time to come back and a short tail can make the eye look smaller," she warns.

How Much Does Eyebrow Mapping Cost?

Eyebrow mapping is generally included as part of a brow service rather than offered as a standalone appointment.

"If you're booking a wax, thread or tint, a good brow artist should be mapping as part of that," Robinson says.

Overall, brow services can range from $30 to $100 or more depending on the service type, the provider's experience level and your market.

"If you're seeing someone who specializes in brows, expect to pay more—and in most cases, it's worth it," she says. "You're paying for the eye and the method, not just the hair removal."

What Is the 'Un-Brow' Trend—and Is It Here To Stay?

Robinson is seeing a noticeable shift in what clients are asking for. "Clients who got very flat lamination a couple of years ago are coming in now asking for something that looks like it could actually grow that way," she says.

The fluffy, brushed-up look isn't going anywhere, but things are trending toward something softer and more natural.

"What I'm doing more of now is using a lighter processing time, or only processing certain sections of the brow in a more customized way," she explains. "It gives that feathered, lived-in look while still holding shape throughout the day."

Nearly a year of unanswered questions about Hulk Hogan's death now have an official answer, and it is what the first reports suggested all along.

The Clearwater, Florida Police Department announced Friday that it has completed its investigation into the WWE legend's death, determining that Hogan died of an attended natural death. A 72-page investigative report confirmed there was no evidence of foul play or criminal wrongdoing.

Officers arrived at Hogan's Clearwater residence at 10:21 a.m. on July 24, 2025, following a call about a possible medical emergency. CPR was performed before the wrestling icon was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:17 a.m. The cause of death was determined to be an acute myocardial infarction. The WWE legend also had a history of lymphocytic leukemia and atrial fibrillation.

'Following an exhaustive review of the statements, medical records, surveillance footage from within the residence, and a visual inspection of Mr. Bollea's body, there has been no evidence to indicate the death of Terry Bollea was anything other than natural,' investigators wrote. 'Through the course of the investigation, there has been no evidence to indicate any criminal wrongdoing related to his death.'

The investigation had been complicated from the start by claims made at the scene. According to the 72-page report, Hogan's occupational therapist, Justin McCamey, told police that Hogan was in very poor health following recent surgeries. His wife, Sky Daily, said he had undergone neck spinal fusion surgery about six weeks before his death, heart valve surgery three weeks earlier, and was also receiving chemotherapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia. McCamey also alleged at the scene that a surgeon had damaged Hogan's phrenic nerve during a recent procedure, a claim that sparked immediate speculation about medical malpractice. In a follow-up police interview, McCamey walked back his own assertion, saying he was 'not a neurosurgeon' and had only worked with Hogan for two weeks before his death.

Daughter Brooke Hogan had been one of the most vocal voices pushing for answers. On a an appearance on the Bubba the Love Sponge Show, she raised questions about a nurse who was present at the home on the day her father died and has since been unreachable, and questioned why a private doctor, rather than the ER physician on duty, signed the death certificate. An attorney accompanying her described the circumstances as highly unusual based on his three decades of medical malpractice experience. The family had also filed a petition in October 2025 to extend the statute of limitations for a malpractice investigation.

A private autopsy arranged by Sky Daily and Hogan's son, Nick, found that he died "exclusively from compelling natural disease, with no reasonable traumatic or terminal toxicologic contributions." WFLA

Clearwater police thanked Hogan's family and their attorney, Kevin Hayslett, for their cooperation throughout the investigation. 'Their willingness to allow our investigators access to very personal information, at a time when they were grieving and struggling, was extremely helpful,' the department said.

Hogan, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, was 71 at the time of his death. He had openly discussed his physical toll, having acknowledged undergoing roughly 25 surgeries in the previous decade, including hip and knee replacements and around 10 procedures on his back. He is survived by wife Sky Daily, children Brooke and Nick, and two grandchildren.

When two future yacht rock legends teamed up to write a song in 1979, they couldn't have known how its message would resonate. Decades later, their track remains a powerful reminder of perseverance during difficult personal battles.

A chart-topping collaboration between Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins became a song that held a deeply personal meaning. The song came to embody the resilience and determination of a loved one facing what seemed an insurmountable struggle.

"This Is It" started as a love song. However, no matter how they tried, McDonald and Loggins couldn't get the lyrics to work as a romantic tune.

Loggins told American Songwriter, “The best musical statements are usually the ones that aren’t calculated and the ones that come out in the largest chunks. Michael McDonald and I must have written ‘This Is It’ four times."

He continued, "The first three times it was a love song, ‘Baby I this, baby I that…,’ and we both said, ‘Eh! This is boring. This song is not working as a love song.’”

Simultaneously, as Loggins worked with McDonald on the tune, he watched his father struggle as he faced cardiovascular surgery. After fighting through almost a dozen prior surgeries for other health issues, Loggins said his father had “finally made up his mind he was going to die on the operating table.”

While listening to his father speak negatively of his health, Loggins told him, “You’ve got some say over how this goes, ya know?” This is it, Dad. Make a choice!” He later met McDonald to continue their songwriting session.

Loggins admitted it was then he realized that "This Is It" was not “a love song. It’s a life song.” He said once that the switch was made, the remainder of the words “literally came flooding out.”

Per Songfacts, Loggins' father lived four more years after that medical emergency. He would go on to see the song he inspired win a Grammy in 1981 for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. "This Is It" was released in October 1979 and peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 by February 1980.

Michael McDonald co-wrote, sang backup, and played keyboards on the track. The two also collaborated on the Grammy-winning No. 1 hit "What a Fool Believes" and "I Gotta Try" for McDonald's 1982 solo album.

"Defying Gravity" from Wicked (2004)

Stephen Schwartz’s Wicked, inspired by Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, arrived on Broadway in 2004 as a bold reimagining of the world behind The Wizard of Oz. Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth's performances as Elphaba and Glinda anchored the show’s soaring Act I finale "Defying Gravity" with explosive energy and emotion, creating one of the most unforgettable moments in Tony Awards history.

"Mama Who Bore Me" from Spring Awakening (2007)

The musical Spring Awakening would take home eight Tony Awards in 2007. It introduced Broadway audiences to the talents of Lea Michele (Wendla Bergmann), Jonathan Groff (Melchior Gabor), and John Gallagher Jr. (Moritz Stiefel). The company's performance of a medley of the musical's greatest hits had an urgency unlike anything else on Broadway. The show's intensity produced a charged musical moment that stuck with audiences and a raw, urgent energy that made the performance feel completely alive.

"96,000" In the Heights (2008)

The 2008 unforgettable Tony Award musical number "96,000" from In The Heights was led by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Usnavi), along with Christopher Jackson (Benny), Robin de Jesús (Sonny), Karen Olivo (Vanessa), Andrea Burns (Daniela), and Janet Dacal (Carla). The song mixed salsa, hip-hop, and classic Broadway style as the cast daydreamed about what they’d do if their corner bodega sold a winning $96,000 lottery ticket.

Jackson and Miranda would go on to create magic once again with Hamilton, who stole the Tony Awards show in 2016 with a performance of the songs "History Has Its Eyes on You” and “Yorktown.”

"And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" Dreamgirls 1982

Jennifer Holliday's performance as Effie White of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" is widely considered the most electrifying vocal performance in Tony Awards history. The result was an unforgettable, standing-ovation-inducing moment. Holliday’s delivery builds with such force that it feels like viewers were watching her character's emotional breakdown set to music. By the time she reached the song’s final refrain, the moment cemented its place in Tony Awards history.

“I Hope I Get It”: Chorus Line (1976)

In 1976, A Chorus Line was the hottest ticket on the Great White Way. The Michael Bennett musical told the story of a group of Broadway dancers auditioning for a single chorus line. Each performer revealed their personal struggles, ambitions, and sacrifices along the way. As the audition unfolds, their stories gradually blur the line between performance and reality, turning the stage into a deeply human portrait of life in the theater.

The 79th Annual Tony Awards, will deliver a special tribute to A Chorus Line, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, as well as a performance of "Without You" from RENT by Leslie Odom, Jr. Additionally, there will be performances from The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon!, Titaníque, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), CATS: The Jellicle Ball, Ragtime and The Rocky Horror Show.

The entire original cast of The Book of Mormon, including  Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells, will celebrate the show’s 15th anniversary on Broadway. The 30th anniversary of Chicago will be celebrated in a tribute performance featuring Queen Latifah, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Alex Newell, Adrienne Warren, Cedric the Entertainer, Julianne Hough,Whitney Leavitt, and Dylan Mulvaney.

In the 1960s, Barry Livingston was a child actor on My Three Sons. The young star played Ernie Douglas on the beloved classic TV comedy series from 1962 to 1973.

In a recent interview with Woman’s World, Livingston, now 72, recalled working with William Frawley, the curmudgeonly actor best known as Fred Mertz on I Love Lucy. Frawley played “Bub" O'Casey on My Three Sons from 1960 to 1965, but he had some leftover beef with his I Love Lucy co-star Vivian Vance (Ethel Mertz)—and that’s where Livingston came in.

My Three Sons was shot on the same studio lot as Vance and Lucille Ball’s post-I Love Lucy series, The Lucy Show, and Frawley convinced Livingston and his brother Stanley to help him cause chaos to spite Vance.

“We would collect these big metal cylindrical film canisters back in the day,” Livingston recalled to the magazine. “Bill would get Stan and I to be co-criminals with him. We’d hear Vivian’s voice coming from the stage next door and he’d go, ‘Okay, it’s time,’ and we’d Frisbee these big old metal film cans in there and you’d hear, ‘Bang! Boom! Bang! Bang! Bang!’ And then you’d hear, ‘Cut!’ And Bill would go, ‘Let’s get the hell out of here. Come on!’ So yeah, we were little criminals in his organized crime.”

Frawley’s feud with Vance was well known during their I Love Lucy days in the 1950s. While they played nicely on camera, behind the scenes, Vance was put off by the fact that Frawley, 22 years her senior, was cast to play her husband.

“It really bothered her,”  Gregg Oppenheimer, the son of the late producer and screenwriter Jess Oppenheimer, told The Television Academy. “She told people, ‘How will anyone believe I’m married to that old man?’”

Oppenheimer added that Frawley overheard her complaints and “was insulted.”

Once he moved on to My Three Sons, Frawley’s co-stars were aware of his lingering animosity toward Vance as she who worked next door on The Lucy Show.

My Three Sons alum Tim Considine (Mike Douglas on the series) told Page Sixthat Frawley once referred to Vance as a “miserable c–t” when asked what she was like.

As for Livingston, his prank with Frawley never got him into trouble with Ball. The actor recalled that the comedy legend liked him and hired him for a small role on her show.  “I kept getting requests to come and play Gail Gordon’s son, Arnold Mooney,” Livingston told Woman’s World. “So she kept writing me into episodes.”

Often paired with its preceding track, “Waitin’ for the Bus,” the song is the second cut from the trio’s landmark album, Tres Hombres. It’s frequently found on classic rock or road-trip playlists, celebrated for its hypnotic, laid-back energy. It’s also been covered by a number of artists across genres including Phish, Blackberry Smoke, and Hank Williams Jr.

At first glance, lyrics like “Jesus just left Chicago / And he's bound for New Orleans … Took a jump through Mississippi / Well, muddy water turned to wine” might suggest a striking spiritual narrative. As if the guys are withholding some fascinating origin story about seeing the lord walking among us commoners. But really, the song’s origin is far more down to earth. 

“There was a buddy of mine when we were teenagers … he had all these colloquialisms,” Billy Gibbons shared with Rolling Stone in 2015. “He blurted out ‘Jesus just left Chicago’ during a phone conversation and it just stuck.”

The group built the song around that spontaneous phrase, shaping its composition into a more atmospheric blues piece that stretches beyond the standard blues structure and into a swampy groove rooted in Southern storytelling traditions. The result feels like a wandering, road-bound parable your grams in Texas would share on the porch over some sweet tea, doesn’t it? It should. All three members of the band hail from the Lone Star State.

Composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard, and bassist and backing vocalist Dusty Hill, ZZ Top was officially formed in 1969 down south, where they honed their sound. Their foundational blues-rock classic, released in the summer of 1973, helped define the band’s breakthrough era, as their album climbed to No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and bolstered their rock reputation.

Now, more than four decades later, “Jesus Just Left Chicago” remains a quintessential highway anthem and Southern staple — part blues sermon, part road-trip must, and entirely built for the long haul. Play it on repeat.
